1. Essay Formats Examples
Composing an essay on the intricacies of "Essay Formats Examples" proves to be a challenging
endeavor, as it requires a delicate balance of theoretical knowledge, practical application, and the
ability to articulate complex ideas in a coherent manner. The difficulty arises from the
multifaceted nature of the topic, which demands a comprehensive understanding of various essay
formats and the skill to exemplify them effectively.
To begin with, one must delve into the nuances of different essay structures such as
argumentative, expository, persuasive, and narrative formats. Each format comes with its own set
of rules and conventions, making the task of elucidating them a meticulous process. The writer
needs to meticulously dissect the components of each format, exploring the purpose,
organization, and style peculiarities that distinguish one from another.
Moreover, the challenge lies in providing concrete examples to illustrate each essay format.
Merely outlining the theoretical framework is insufficient; a successful essay on this topic
necessitates the inclusion of real-world instances that exemplify the application of various
formats. This requires not only a profound understanding of the formats themselves but also a
keen ability to identify relevant examples that resonate with the reader.
Additionally, addressing the intricacies of essay formatting involves discussing the finer points
of citations, referencing styles, and overall presentation. The writer must navigate through the
labyrinth of academic guidelines, ensuring that the essay adheres to the specified formatting
requirements. This meticulous attention to detail can be time-consuming and demanding, adding
another layer of complexity to the writing process.

2. Effective Functional Behavioral Assessment Of Students
Introduction
There is an increase in demand for behavioral services in various learning institutions,
which have been due to schools being required to conduct functional behavioral
assessment.
This helps parties involved in a given sector of education, to understand and address
a given rising behavior change in students. Hence improving the standards of
education, by creating a good mind set and a positive behavioral culture in students.
Mr. White, the principal at New Light School requested for an intervention plan. He
has an 18yr old student, Tom who has mental retardation of which teachers have
become concern and described the situation as inappropriate. These aberrant actions
may be the reason why the student is provided with special education services as in
the case of students labeled as having emotional disturbance
However other students, for whom different impairments are the main concern, might
also display undesirable behaviors. These could include, among many others, refusals
to work on tasks viewed as too difficult, angry responses due to frustration of goals or
inability to communicate with words or irritating actions displayed in an attempt to
gain attention.
Tom was okay before and the change is a matter of concern to all the parties involved.
Anytime that the teachers have concern about the behavior of a student with
disability, they are required by the Individuals Disability Act (IDEA) to undertake the
functional behavioral assessment process in order to
3. Representations Of Women And Women
Representations of what is believed to be female characters holding weapons have
been previously observed on the fragments of the Oseberg tapestry. The textile
fragments show human esque figures that appear to be either standing in front of
spears or holding them and who wear clothing that is closely representative of long
dresses which were worn by Viking Age women. Some apparently female figures
are also holding swords. The Oseberg tapestry is difficult to interpret, but it has
been suggested that its imagery may represent a procession of some sort, perhaps
one that occurred as part of a funeral. Jesch has also speculated whether the female
figures on the tapestry might be valkyrjur choosing the slain for the honour of
Valhall . Jesch notes the variety of places that female Scandinavian graves can be
found, from Iceland to Russia, yet she is hesitant about presenting this as evidence
of female participation in Viking raids. She says, In spite of the archaeological
evidence that women from Scandinavia accompanied the men who went trading and
adventuring in the east, we are never told this in the written sources. However, what
written sources do contain is a picture of how medieval writers viewed the Viking
Age through a gendered bias. Jesch analyzes the History of the Danes, written by
Saxo Grammaticus in the 12th century, and how he treats warrior women in the
stories such as Lathgertha and Alvid. There is little doubt that Saxo uses the idea of
women as
4. Analysis Of White And The New Yorker
Furthermore, In Warshow s review of E.B White and the New Yorker, experience
again is at the forefront of his critique, along with a bit of his ever present political
views. He makes a very important point at the begging of this review, The New
Yorker has always dealt with experience not by trying to understand it but by
prescribing the attitude to be adopted toward it. (warshow 2001, 75) This becomes an
interesting argument, even today, as we think about what trends we have seen in
popularculture. Do we ever ask ourselves if this is something that has been
prescribed to us, instead of by us? Journalism, especially from writers of a certain
stature, can often dictate where the culture shifts. If we are able to look at the
writing with an objective eye then we are simply learning about another facet of the
experience. All to often, though, it is hard for us to be objective. This could be why
we, as Americans, have popular cultureat all. A journalist tells us what is cool, and
we subscribe to that idea as an entire culture. There are always outliers, but when
talking about popular culture most Americans are in it for the collective
effervesces. I think this point would be highly debated by Warshow. As he says at
the end of this review, unable to keep his political feelings at bay, The purpose of
this writing is not to say anything about democracy ...but only to arouse certain
familiar responses in the liberal middle class reader. (warshow 2001,78) Moving

5. The Invasion Of Japan Into China
The Japanese and Chinese have always had disputes with one another, and one of the
biggest reasons for the Chinese and Japanese hating each other is the Invasion of
Japan into China. It began with Japan invading and occupying Manchuria causing the
hatred between the two countries to grow immensely.
According to the New World encyclopedia, what made matter worse, was that China
was at war with itself, the war was between the Chinese Nationalist Party and the
Chinese Communist Party. Sun Yat sen dies in 1925, soon after, commander in chief
Chiang Kai Shek of the National Army set out on an expedition to the North. This
expedition was an effort to exterminate the commanders of the war and as well as
feudalism. However, when a year passes, in 1926, the Nationalist Party had divided
into left and right factions where communism had begun to grow from the inside out.
After many disputes, on April 7, 1927, Chiang and other nationalist had decided to
hold a meeting where they had decided the communist were being socially and
economically disruptive. They would then join together in order to suppress them
and keep the national revolution ongoing. Hence on April 12, Nationalist leader
Chiang commenced an expulsion of the communist in the Shanghai area, leading to
the execution and arrest of hundreds of communist members. This became known as
the Shanghai Massacre , enraged, the communist would attempt to conquer cities
such as Changsha, Guangzhou, Nanchang, and Shantou. After many
6. Wall-E Film Techniques
Summary and Protagonist
Wall e was directed by Andrew stanton and was released June 23 2008. In this film
you meet a goofy little robot named Wall e. He lives on earth but not the version of
earth we live on today. This version of earth is infested with trash and no plant life.
Wall e was created as a trash collector and has been left to clean up the mess us
humans made.
Antagonist
The protagonist of Wall e is the autopilot, Auto of the spaceship in which humans
now live. He looks like the wheel of a ship with a red light in the middle. Him being
a machine, he is very controlling and organized. Among that, he is also very
intelligent as machines also are.

Fiction Devices
Language choice
In Wall e, robots do not speak a language yet you still know exactly what is going
on. Even though Wall e can not speak you can still tell that he loves Eve. This is just
one example of the fact that love has no boundaries.
Foreshadowing
Wall e foreshadowed what could happen if us humans do not step up our game. It
shows a representation of what our world could become if we do not start caring for
our environment before we run out of time. It also shows where we could go if we
don t detach from technology and if we let it take over our lives.
Scenes that stand out
One of the scenes from Wall e is the scene where it gives us an aerial view of what
the planet earth had come to look like. All you see is trash everywhere with no life
to be seen. Another scene that stands out to me is when we first see the humans
aboard the ship. It just disgusts me how self absorbed and unattached they are
from the world. I would not want to live a life like that. The last scene that comes
to mind when i think of this film is when Wall e is holding hands with Eve. I know
I said that love is like a deep dark hole but this scene really touches me because even
though they were robots they still found love in each

Rotenone is considered one of the most recent approaches used in PD induction. PD
induced in animals by rotenone reproduces all behavioral, anatomical, neurochemical
and pathological features as in human PD such as rigidity and akinesia as it causes
nigrostriatal dopaminergic degeneration.
By chronic infusion of Rot to Lewis rats, it causes systemic inhibition of Complex I

9. How Did France Win The Hundred Years War
The Hundred Years War was a war between England and France over rights to land,
the succession of the French throne and economic conflicts. The war took place
over such a large period of time because there were several different battles over
different pieces of land. Also loyal to either the French and the English changed
throughout the duration of the war as well. Both sides possessed different
advantages that help them win certain battles but eventually the French would
prevail. The Hundred Years War was fought for three main reasons: land, power
and money. The fight over land and power go hand and hand because in order to
have the land you needed power. There was a debate over who would be the next
king when King Charles IV died because he had no sons to take over the throne. The
closest male relative he had was his nephew, Edward III of England, but the nobles
were not fond of his parent therefore he was unable to inherit he throne. Many
English believe Edward was unjustly denied the right to the throne. Instead his first
cousin, Philip VI, was crowned. King Philip sparked conflict between England and
Francewhen he took away the Duchy Aquitaine and gave France full jurisdiction of
the Duchy of Aquitaine. This angered the English king because this was a direct
violation of the Treaty of Paris. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

13. Aristotle Segregates
Aristotle segregates virtues into two categories and they are moral and intellectual.
Aristotle believes that moral virtues is a product of habits, while intellectual
virtues come from learning or life experience. He stated that since nothing...can
form a habit contrary to its nature (Book II, 1), virtues are only possible to form by
habits. For intellectual virtues, it can only be perfected over a period of a time, as
well with experience. A more concrete point that will solidify this conclusion is that
virtues are first learnt, then it will be presented, and the everyday life experience of
the virtueis in diversified position and situations will lead a way for development.

Morrison is able to show readers that her characters must find their ways through
the morass of that which defines them (Lubiano 589). Morrison also shows how
many characters become effected negatively when they cannot make sense of their
own identity, just as many African Americans may have faced when becoming free
and may still face today as some struggle to know where their ancestors came from.

Critics also tend to discuss the identity of female characters such as Pilate, First
Corinthians, or Hagar, even when the novel focuses immensely on male characters.
Even though many critics may not see this, Toni Morrisonintentionally reveals that
naming is a significant aspect of her novel as she specifically names her characters.
Toni Morrison creates her characters lives around their given names to show the
importance of African American identity. Furthermore, Morrison focuses
predominantly on her African American male characters to emphasize how and why
males must know their identity. Knowing their identity will enable African American
males to live their lives fully.
During the mid 20th century in America, it was difficult to know who one actually

could have been blurred and altered as evidence was passed down from generation
to generation. Some African Americans were able to discover bits and pieces about
themselves yet unfortunately many were left without answers and without ties to
their past. Many characters throughout the novel question their name or identity.

Most of us have a place where we can go and be free and be ourselves with no
implications. It is a place where we can just forget about the problems of life, the
problems of the world, and just feel true tranquility, pure freedom. I have a place like
this, it is the basketball court. Just the sight of the basketballcourt evokes countless
emotions and feelings for me. There is not another place in the world where I feel
as free and excited as I do on the basketball court. When I step onto the court it is
impossible for me to conjure a negative feelingwithin myself, I enter an endless state
of euphoria and self confidence.
I feel the second I step onto the hardwood I immediately am filled with a sense of
never ending joy, as if it was my first time setting foot in the gym and picking up a

everything I do is nothing but sweet music with the perfect melody and flow. I have
that thought I can do no wrong, because every move I make, every decision I make,
every shot I take is the right thing to do. When I lace up my shoes and step between
the lines something great, something astonishing is released within me. Nothing can
stop me. Not the referees, not the opposing fans and certainly not the opposing
players. Why? Because I am in my territory, my sanctuary. The game and the court,
they are my canvas, and I am Picasso, the

Italy reached a stable population much earlier than Nigeria. While the total
population for Italy stayed small, Nigeria has approximately 7 9 times more
population for each age group. Italy is further in the demographic transition and
already had a declining growth rate keeping the population fairly small. In contrast,
Nigeria is barely a developing country with a much higher growth rate thus creating a
greater ending population. In terms of land and rural area, Nigeria has more land to
expand and sustain this population size.
6. Many Western European countries are giving monetary incentives to employees
who have multiple children. Why would they do this? How would a baby boom
change Italy s demographics?
Western European countries are giving monetary incentives to employees with
multiple children because their population is decreasing and they want the
population to increase. The average birth rate is 1.28 children per woman, not
enough children are born to replace their parents. A baby boom would increase the
population in Italy, that generation will then have more babies and cause an increase
in population. 7. What would Egypt have to do in order to reach a zero growth rate?
What kinds of challenges might the Egyptian government face in trying to implement
these measures?
Egypt would have to decrease their average birth rate to around 1.69 children per
woman or increase the age group at which they

The Sound and The Fury Southern Gothic is a subgenre of Gothic fiction in
American literature that takes place specifically in the American South. Common
themes in Southern Gothic literature include deeply flawed, disturbing or strange

situations, and other sinister events relating to poverty, alienation, crime, or violence.
William Faulkner s The Sound and The Fury uses irony and macabre to portray the

Compson can be defined as a weak, cold person filled with a sense of insecurity.
Her self absorption, hypochondria, and her constant whining leave no room for
the love that the children need. Quentin is too late to realize that Mrs. Compson is
most likely responsible for Caddy s becoming so promiscuous due to the lack of
love and affection that was never given to them as children. Ironically, the only
child Mrs. Compson shows any affection to is Jason. I look at her I wonder if she
can be my child except Jason he has never given me one moment s sorrow since I
first held him in my arms I knew he was to be my joy and salvation (June Second,
1910. Pg. 65). Jason s success in life is due to the fact that he feels no love for
anyone, he denies any allegiance to, or love for, anyone except himself. Perhaps
that is why Mrs. Compson prefers him over her other children, because she and
him are the same person. Jason s monomaniac attitude allows him to hate his sister
Caddy for what she did, and allows him to carry a grudge longer than most. I know
I m just a troublesome old woman. But I know that people cannot flout God s laws
with impunity (April Sixth, 1925. Pg. 125). Religion was very important in the
Southern Values. Mrs. Compson believes wholeheartedly in a Vengeful God, except
her God requires that the Southern Values be kept by gentlemen behaving like
gentlemen and ladies behaving like ladies.

abstract thoughts aren t going to get me anywhere unless I am able to translate them
into practice. Upon reflection about how to do so, I was able to come up with a few
ways on how to get these thoughts into educational practice. One important practice
is to institute effective, positive and accurate communication with parents as soon as

This extra work that the teachers need to put in is tripled for the parents; they have
been dealing with their child and their needs since birth. Respecting and appreciating
[this] extra work and being able to include positive comments about their child s
successes and not just their shortcomings will go a long way in building up the
respect from parents (YC). We need to keep in mind that some parents have had a
long history of working with the government and other professionals that haven t
been helpful and they might assume that you won t assist their child either. This is a
challenge that can be addressed when first speaking to the parents and communicating
with them that you are here to help and describe various ways to provide supports.
Along with communication with the families, an important part of building a
cohesive classroom is having techniques on controlling behaviors. This will
include, in some instances, an FBA and BiP to curtail specific problem behaviors.
For the most part, I will try and implement PBIS and other styles, like group
contingency strategies, to manage my classroom. I hope that my class will respect
me and therefore listen to the rules that we have in place. During the first day, as a
class, we will come up with a rules list that is simple yet pervasive. After putting into
effect these rules, the consequences will be clearly stated.
19. Social Media And Low Self-Esteem Levels
Self esteem is defined as how a person feels and values his or her self, and the
evaluation of one s self esteem is determined by the answer to the question am I
good enough? . Among young adults today, low self esteem seems to be more
common and a larger problem than it has been at any other point in the past, and
the issue needs to be explored further. There are many challenges to achieving
healthy self esteem levels, with social media and social anxiety being very
common among young adults. There are many enablers to achieving high self
esteem levels as well, for young adults, this can include physical activity, as well as
having supportive relationships. As a nurse, it is important that there is enough
knowledge to provide a point of care strategy for patients, including young adults
with low self esteem. Social media use is one of the challenges that young adults
face regarding their self esteem levels. Findings from Youth Central stating that
62% of young people felt that social media and advertising in the media impacted
their self esteem levels in a negative way (as cited in Berman White, 2013). Social
media profiles are often well constructed and also well thought out, and often only
show and emphasize the positive characteristics of either the user themselves or the
life that he or she lives (Woods Scott, 2016). Viewing profiles that are well
constructed can be linked to a decrease in the self esteem of the viewers, because of
the view that he or she is

22. The Importance Of Compural Characters In The Hobbit
The Hobbit is a great fantasy novel. It has many great aspects. Such as, a vast amount
of supernatural beings, including trolls, that are only found within fantasy novels. In
addition, the plot of the novel has the classic struggle between a kind and courageous
protagonist and an evil and sinister antagonist. Lastly, The Hobbitcontains one
element that all can agree is only found within the realm of fantasy. Magic. The
unique characteristics found in The Hobbit make it a prime example of the fantasy
genre.
Firstly, supernatural beings are generally only found in the realm of fantasy. The
vast number of supernatural beings within The Hobbit justifies it being a fantasy
novel. While there are many aspects that make up a fantasy novel, it is usually
broken down into a couple of elements. For instance, Nicola Alter, an author for the
website Thoughts on Fantasy , states, ...but ultimately, I find a fantasy novel or film
is easiest to recognize by one or all of these three elements: imaginary worlds,
magical powers, supernatural (Alter). One of these elements, as stated by Alter, is
the supernatural. In addition, there are many points in The Hobbit where
supernatural beings make an appearance. Such as, when Tolkien describes what the
protagonist sees after beginning his adventure, And this what he saw. Three large
persons sitting round a very large fire of beech logs... they were trolls (Tolkien 51).
Trolls are found quite early in the story, and such a creature is
23. Metaphysics As The Tree Of Philosophy
In the words of the French philosopher Descartes, The whole of philosophy is like a
tree: the roots are metaphysics, the trunk is physics, and the branches that issue from
the trunk are all the other sciences . . .
But in what soil do the roots of the tree of philosophy have their hold? What are the
nourishing elements for the roots and the tree? Or in other words, what is the basis of
metaphysics, and what is metaphysics itself?
Metaphysics thinks about beings as beings, and beings as such are in sight.
Metaphysical representation owes this sight to the light of Being but this light does
not come within the range of metaphysical domain. In other words, metaphysics
inquire about the Being, which is the source of this light, but the light ... Show more

But how it manifests itself, it remains obscure. Being in its revelatory essence, i.e., in
its truth, is not recalled. Nevertheless, when metaphysics gives answers to its
question concerning beings as such, metaphysics speaks out of the unnoticed
revealedness of Being. The truth of Being may thus be called the ground in which
metaphysics, as the root of the tree of philosophy, is kept and from which it is
nourished.
Metaphysics, as the root of the tree of philosophy, sends all nourishment to the
trunk and branches. The tree of philosophy grows out of the soil in which
metaphysics is rooted. The ground is where the root of the tree lives, but the
growth of the tree is never able to absorb this soil in a manner that it makes it
disappear in the tree as part of the tree. Instead, the root loses itself in the soil where
it forgets itself for the sake of the tree.
Metaphysics, since it represents beings as only beings, does not recall Being itself.
Philosophy does not concentrate on its ground. Insofar as a philosopher sets out to
experience the ground of metaphysics and attempts to recall the truth of Being itself
instead of merely representing beings as beings, his thinking leaves metaphysics.
From the point of view of metaphysics, such thinking goes back into the ground of

Regulating Inventory An Examination of AASB 102 Inventories Inventories are in
essence what organisations hold with an intention to sell, however directly or
indirectly. For most businesses, this is how their profits are made, and it is
reasonable to assume that these items account for much of an organisation s
activities. Such a big influence on indicators of financial performance and position
warrants an equally large need for regulation to ensure that users of the financial
statements are given a clear picture of the state the organisation is in. The Australian

The African American Great Migration and beyond by Stewart E. Tolnay and All the
Nations under Heaven, An Ethnic and Racial History of New York City by
Frederick M. Binder are about the migration of blacks in the first reading and the
migration of Jews in the second reading and the cause of the migration and the
aftermath. The American Great Migration and beyond talks about the Great
migration of blacks from the South to the North. Many blacks migrated to the North
for a better life and for more opportunities. They wanted to escape segregation and
racism that Jim Crow imposed in the South so they decided to migrate to the North.
Against this challenging backdrop, migrants attempted to find a place in the northern

One difference is that many Jews upon arrival were employed in clothing industry,
some were metal workers, food industry worker, machine, building and furnishing
workers. But this was not the case for the blacks upon their arrival they were not
immediately employed. They had hard time finding a place to live let alone finding a
job. However one similarity that I found is that both parties had to deal with racism.
Jews faced anti semitism in the late nineteenth century and the blacks faced
segregation and discrimination. Another thing similar is poverty, both groups dealt
with poverty. This relates to current issue and that is poverty. Poverty is still a big
factor in the United States and unemployment and income inequality are the main
causes of poverty. Of those in poverty many are African Americanand Latinos. They
do not have access to healthcare. Those that work are not payed as good as someone
from another race and the chance of hiring them is very small. Black or Hispanic do
not receive equal payment and are not treated equal even now. They are not
discriminated openly but discrimination is still there in education and job. Many
educated blacks and Hispanics are not given the equal opportunity. So it just
impossible for them to come out of this unequal system and be treated as

Researching autism is comparable to solving a puzzle one piece at a time. This
commonly known neurological disorder affects a child before the age of three
(Miller). Autism can affect any child of all races or genders. Each autistic child is
unique in their own ways. Even though researchers have been investigating this
matter for years, this lifelong condition has no known cause. Some theories have been
hypothesized, but have been proven wrong. One example is the theory of the
measles, mumps, and rubella vaccinecausing autism. Scientific studies have proven
that the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine does not cause autism.

His theory was that the MMR vaccine could trigger autism (Mooney). Andrew
Wakefield published a medical journal called The Lancet (Mooney). This journal
stated his experimental procedure and his conclusion. In his experiment, he studied
the digestive tracts of 12 children (Mooney). Nine of these twelve children were
autistic (Mooney). Wakefield postulated that the MMR vaccine caused intestinal
inflammation that led to the translocation of usually nonpermeable peptides to the
bloodstream and, subsequently, to the brain, where they affected development.
(Gerber). Wakefield found that All 8 children had gastrointestinal symptoms and
signs and lymphoid nodular hyperplasia revealed on endoscopy. (Gerber).
Andrew Wakefield s experiment was proven inaccurate; his scientific procedure was
not thorough. Not only was data not entirely collected, but he used no control
subjects (Gerber). Also, gastrointestinal symptoms did not predate autism in several
children (Gerber). Therefore, he was not consistent in stating that intestinal
inflammation facilitated the bloodstream invasion of encephalopathic peptides
(Gerber). This experiment could also have a possibility of being biased (Gerber).
The endoscopic and neuropsychological assessments were not blind
27. The Importance Of Flag Burning In The United States
There has been a lot of controversy weather during the American flag is right or not.
In this certain situation, a group of students gathered at a park to protest terrorism.
During this, some students got out of hand a set the American Flag on fire. The
students had a permit to protest however they did not have a permit to burn the
flag. Therefore, all participants got arrested by the police. While some people feel
it s wrong to burn the country s flag, others say it isn t since it is protected by the
first amendment. Burning the American flag is protected under the First
Amendment. In 1969 and 1989 the high court ruled that flag burning was protected
under the constitution and you will not get arrested if you participate in this. This
part of the first amendment has been brought up many times because many people
have different stand points. In both cases Texas v. Johnson in 1989, and US v.
Eichmann in 1990 the Supreme Court ruled that flag burning was a form of
symbolic speech protected by the First Amendment. The ruling came after an appeal

1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany s, which was aimed at adult women is mentioned, in
an interesting use of intertextuality by author Craig Silvey. Eliza Wishart, younger
sister of Laura, dreams of a life in New York as Holly Golightly of Breakfast at

We hear of her moving to New York to escape her life as a child bride after being
orphaned at a young age. This story allows the audience to gain a sense of sympathy
for Holly, and enhances the pathos of the story. This pathos puts the audience into the
shoes of Holly and enables them to understand the reasoning behind her escape. The
use of language features like pathos and literary allusion allow the authors of both
texts to convey the theme of escapism.
Furthermore, both authors explore the theme of isolation throughout their texts. In
Jasper Jones, Laura constantly feels isolated from her community, and seeks refuge
from this isolation in a relationship with Jasper. The isolation is represented through
the characterisation of Laura. Towards the end of the novel, it is revealed that her
father had been sexually assaulting her. The isolation she was experiencing due to
this assault comes to a head at the climax of the novel, where we read Laura s
suicide note. She reveals that although she is now dead, she has been dead inside
long before this and that her life was disappearing . This is a clear example of the
isolation manifesting within her to the extent that she feels suicide is her only
option. In Breakfast at Tiffany s, we are introduced to the isolation and anxiety
Holly feels through dialogue. In one particular scene, Holly explains to Paul how
she is experiencing the Mean reds , which is when you are afraid of something, but

Social research is the scientific study of society. From conducting social research we
can gain a better understanding of society s attitudes, assumptions, beliefs, trends
and rules. Social research frequently determines the relationship between one or
more variables. Examples of prevalent social research topics include sexuality, class
issues and racism (De Vaus, 2002). When conducting social research it is extremely
important to follow ethical procedures in order to cater to the needs of the
participants. Ethics is an issue in social research because it doesn t allow for many

30. Realism In Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington develops the themes of idealism,
realism, and cynicism. Idealism is the way of looking for the best in everything
and not really seeing the bad. Realism is the way of looking at things the way they
are in the real world. Cynicism is the way of thinking that no one has any good in
them and that the whole world is horrible. Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
brings out the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism through the main
characters, Clarissa Saunders, Senator Joseph Paine, and Jefferson Smith. Clarissa
Saunders came to Washington with eyes that were big blue question marks now
they are green dollar signs. She says this while talking to her friend and what she
means is that she was naive because he is talking all about how he went sight

and make fun of him. After Saunders gets to know Jeff she begins to care for him
and starts to fall in love with him. One night while Saunders and Jeff are drafting a
bill she learns that he loves Susan Paine and this breaks her heart. She leaves the
city but suddenly realizes that she needs some of Jefferson s idealistic qualities
and goes back. Saunders goes to find Jeff at the Lincoln Memorial and tells him to
fight for what he believes in. This is a turning point for Saunders because she has
found out how to balance idealism with realism. Senator Joseph Paine was once a

In the 1940s the United States and the allies were in the midst of a deadly war
against their Nazi German counterparts, World War II officially ended in 1945 and
the Allies were victorious. In the early 1950s the post war economic boom in both
the United States of America and Great Britain, gave the people optimism and
money to spend as the super markets were filled with all kinds of consumer goods .
The economy was good and people were happy.
Capitalizing on the post war economic boom of the 1950s were advertisers.
Advertising persuaded many, it told people what was popular, what was good, and
what to buy. Advertising and glossy magazines were found everywhere, in the street,

With the rise of this bona fide American phenomenon also brought critics. Critics
asked and wondered how a can of soup or a soft drink could be considered art. Pop
artist, Andy Warhol responded by stating, Art is what you can get away with. What

harpsichords differed from others in that they normally were made of extremely thin

school of building developed in the 16th and 17th centuries in Flanders, centered
around the influential Ruckers family of builders. These schools gave way in the
18th century to distinctive styles of building that developed in France (the Blachet

the different national schools varied in details of their proportions and construction,
resulting in slight, although characteristic differences in tone color. Modern
Developments In the 20th century, two broad approaches to harpsichord building
emerged. The first utilized recent principles of construction, such as are found in
present day pianos. Stimulated by the Polish harpsichordist Wanda Landowska, this
style was exemplified by the French piano firms of Pleyel and Г‰rard. Their
harpsichords relied on heavy strings under high tension in a heavily braced case.

36. Theme Of Symbolism In The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter takes place at the Massachusetts Bay Colony during the 17th
century, this is where the Puritans settled after leaving the New World because they
wanted to purify the Church of England. The Puritans were a sect of Protestant
Christians influenced by Calvinism, the idealized that salvation is predestined.
They believed that religious behavior was a result of salvation, so with the Puritan
communities so invested in purity sins were punished harshly and removed.
Hawthorne sets the scene of the first chapter with a dark and gloomy effect, the
dark nature of the prison established in the vicinity of Cornhill , by early settlers.

Michelle Brandt argues that certified organic fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy and
other certified organic food goods, may not be worth the higher prices. Brandt
states that certified organic is around 50% more expensive at most retailers.
Opposing views of certified organic goods have often claimed that the higher
prices are worth the health benefits. Brandt states that there have been multiple
studies done on the various types of organic and certified organic goods and that
they have been somewhat inconclusive. Despite the fact that they have found a bit
higher percentages of vitamins in organic goods, the higher rates are only shown
in vitamins that are rare in which to have a dietary deficiency. Brandt also states
that the lower rates of pesticides found in organic foods is not worth the cost, due
to the fact that the levels found in traditionally grown items were within the limits
set by the government as healthy to consume. Lastly Brandt leads the reader to
believe that eating healthier foods in general, such as a diet high in fruits and
vegetables, is the most important way to be a healthier individual. The higher price
of organic goods could lead people away from buying any produce due to believing
that they must buy organic goods in order to truly be healthy. Brandt first goes into a

Jim Crow era was a time of struggle for all African Americans. White supremacy and

Jim Crow is defined as a minstrel show character whose name became synonymous

By the nineteenth century audiences only wanted to see Jump Jim Crow. Karma
soon hit him and his career was cut short when he developed a form of paralysis and

The first segregation laws were essentially originated in the North before the Civil
War. African Americans and whites were not permitted to use the same hospitals,
prisons, school, railway cars, and theaters. If African Americans wanted to be
entertained, they had to purchase different tickets to those purchased by whites.
Also, the sitting was separate in the theaters. Hotels and restaurants were also places
where African Americans were not allowed. Every aspect of life for African
Americans was controlled by Jim Crow laws.
Not only were the laws intimidating they were also degrading. There would be signs

Americans in the same category as dogs. Whites thought so low of African
Americans. African Americans were also denied medical services from certain

After Reconstruction, southern states began to pass legislation to take away the
rights that former slaves had after the Civil War, also known as Black Codes. These
laws granted African Americans certain rights, such as legalized marriage, property
ownership, access to courts but the access was limited. One way the access was

There is nothing in this world more satisfying than finding your life s partner or
your ultimate true love, but having to lose someone so special to you is
indescribably the worst feeling ever. In Edgar Allan Poe s poem Annabel Lee , the
author describes himself as a child who falls in love with a young woman named
Annabel Lee. Living In a kingdom by the sea (Poe Line 2), he and Annabel Lee
seem to be extremely happy and their love is quite intense. In fact, because of how
strong their love is for each other, Annabel Lee is murdered by the winged seraphs
of Heaven (Line 11) who have sent a wind that chills Annabel Lee to her death.
Devastated, the author refuses to give up on their love, believing that their souls are
intertwined and in order to show his unconditional love for her, he dreams of her and

Falling in love In a kingdom by the sea (Line 8), the love of the author and Annabel
Lee is challenged by Annabel s death. The author strongly believes that their souls
are inseparable and that death isn t going to separate him from his love. He loves
her so much that he still sees her in his dreams and even sleeps with her in her tomb
every night. As love is presented throughout the poem, we sense a little envy as well.
The love between the author and Annabel Lee is so strong that the winged seraphs
of Heaven (Line 11) envy it and murder Annabel Lee. The extent of the seraphs envy
of the love between the two is shown in the poem when the author

Recent advancements in internet communication and in parallel computing grabbed
the attention of a large number of commercial organizations and industries to adapt
the recent changes in storage and retrieval methods. This includes the new data
retrieval and mining schemas which enable the firms to provide their clients a wide
space for carrying their job processing and storing of the personal data. Although the
new storage innovations made the user data to accommodate the petabyte scale in
size, the storing schemas are still on the research desk to compete with this
adaptation. Some of the new research outcomes which gained a high popularity and
become the need of the hour is the Hadoop. Hadoop is developed by Apache based

This MapReduce basically divides the large tasks into smaller chunks typically (64
MB size) which will be distributed across a grid infrastructure of servers
interconnected by secured communication network and runs the sub jobs in different
nodes, monitors their progress and handles the node failures with high fault
tolerance and combines on accordance with user actions and reduces to a structured
data set. Here, the interesting thing is the whole data processing is carried out with
the metadata but not the actual information. So, this could save a lot of processing
time and will increase the throughput. This new frameworks encouraged the IT
firms to concentrate on the users behavioral study which is really helpful in making
the predictions over the success probability of commercial products and their
demand. Even this type of frameworks are welcomed into federal usage which is
surprising as the large sets of historical or geological data can be carefully analyzed.
Another important feature that has to be discussed about the MapReduce is the
efficient use of the available resources, the Map and Reduce functions along with
parallelizing the computations always runs keeps an eye on the resource and their

45. Nonverbal Communication And Human Communication
Nonverbal communication is communication through sending and receiving wordless
cues such as body language between two people. Communication can be through
gestures and touch, body language, posture, facial expression, or eye contact. Face to
face interactions of nonverbal communication can be classified into three areas:
environmental conditions, physical characteristics of the communicators, and
behaviors of communicators during the interaction. Approximately two thirds of all
communication is made up of nonverbal communication. Scientific research of
nonverbal communication and behavior began with the 1872 publication of Charles
Darwin s The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals. Since that time, there
has been an abundance of research on the effects and expressions of unspoken
communication and behavior. (Cherry) Nonverbal communication is made up of
several components. Facial expression is one such component, and is responsible for
a huge proportion of nonverbal communication. Facial expression can be a smile or a
frown. It can convey happiness, sadness, anger, or fear. Another component of
nonverbal communication is gestures, deliberate movements and signals used to
communicate meaning without words. These can include waving, pointing, or using
fingers to indicate numeric amounts. Paralinguistics is vocal communication separate
from actual language which can include voice tone, loudness, inflection and pitch.
Body language and posture can include
46. Five Paragraph Essay On Night By Elie Wiesel
A cry pierces the night air. You look around in fear as you hear a woman s screams,
Fire! I can see a fire! I can see a fire! (22). There is nothing there. Nothing seemed
out of the ordinary. There was no way you could ever have known what was to come.
The morning never came and you suddenly you could see the flames everywhere. No
one anticipated the monstrosity that would become known as the Holocaust. Elie
Wieselcertainly didn t see it coming. He was one of the many Jewish people sent to
concentration camps. Ten years after the end of World War 2 Elie decided to sit
down and write his memoir, entitled Night, about the time he spent there. It is a
brutally honest look at the Holocaust. Throughout the book there is a repeated
mantra of fire. He describes the fire and smoke with vivid detail. If you look close
enough you begin to see the deeper meaning of the fire. In Night, Elie Wiesel uses
the mantra of fire to explain the terror and closeness of death that the prisoners are in
constant fear of during the Holocaust.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children,
whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky. (120).
The quote above is taken from a description of Elie s first night in Auschwitz, a
concentration camp in Poland. Once Elie arrives at the camp he sees the smoke
from the crematorium for the first time. The deaths of so many innocent people
occured in that death factory. Everyone around him at the camp is afraid of the
dreaded place, for it means certain death to all those who enter. This threat hangs

49. Religion And Religion
The incorporation of religion into a person s life displays how a belief in gods can
impact every facet of someone s life. The entirety of religion is based solely on
faith and the willpower of someone s belief in what has been taught to them. In
these teachings, through sacred texts, manuscripts, or orally transmitted; the basis
of many religions is the idea of an object, person, or building being sacred. The
reason something becomes sacred and is then believed to be sacred is because the
sacred manifests itself and makes itself become known to man. This is what separates
the religious man from the profane man, the idea that items can be sacred, and the
belief that they are sacred. Eliade points out that the profane man experiences life
uniformly neutral, he does not have something that shapes his life like religiondoes .
The objective of religious architects was to separate the holy world and the profane
world by utilizing sacred space to allow for a relationship between believers and the
cosmos. In many religious systems around the world, there were thought to be three
cosmic levels, heaven (or nirvana, etc.), earth, and hell (or the underworld, land of
the dead, etc.). The religious man believed that the axis mundi , center of the world,
linked all three cosmic levels together. The different religions had different centers of
the world, and all of them were built using various types of architecture, which
reflected their own specific culture. In Babylonia, ziggurats

advocates argue that since the technology is there it should be used. For ages humans

order to continue to further develop human life. Although no one opposes that human
life should be enhanced, not everyone has the same definition of what constitutes
the perfect human being. Everyone has different conceptions of what makes life
satisfactory as well as vary in what certain characteristics are desirable. So in order
to allow freedom of choice, from a liberal perspective, these differences among
people s opinion should be respected in order to avoid mistakes of the past where
authoritarian Eugenicsdictated which traits/race were favored. Allowing
individuals to have a freedom of choice, according to Agar, it motivates us to adopt
pluralistic view and monistic view of human excellence. As a consequence, an evil
doctrine is being alter into a morally acceptable one. In other words, with liberal
Eugenics everyone is free to follow their personal conception of human excellence
without being dictated by an authoritarian figure like in past movements. But if this

In The Meaning of Life, Wolf names three types of less meaningful lives. These
lives include: the life of The Blob, The Idle Rich, and The Bankrupt Case. The life
of The Blob is considered to be meaningless because it entails a person who spends
every day doing nothing for themselves. They pass each day unproductively and
achieve nothing. The Idle Rich are also unproductive people, but are more active in
silly and insignificant activities without much substance. They complain about things
such as boredom, the need of unnecessary shopping and pointless traveling. They are
basically in a sense to me, children. The Bankrupt cases, are people that are engaged
and dedicated to what wolf calls projects, but go bankrupt. This is not

As we were ending a meeting with the local elders, my platoon was hit by enemy
fire. This was the Konar River Valley. Only one road traveled north from our
Combat Outpost (COP) towards the main FOB. On the east side were cliffs that
would send you plummeting down towards the Konar River. The other side of the
road varied between sharp cliffs to rolling hills that all inevitably jutted upward to the
mountainous landscape adjacent to us. We were afforded Mine Resistant Armor

transit to the various towns and city centers along the river. We were beginning to

well with us for this reason. As we were refitting our vehicles with ammunition and

Company Commander. He wanted us to head back out immediately to conduct
another mission in the same area. He wanted us to move up the mountainside to a
village just above a valley where we were receiving the enemy fire from. He
wanted us to engage the local elders and ask them why we were being attacked

Potential Effects of Excluding African Religions and Beliefs from Global Discourse
In this paper, I will discuss the implications of excluding African traditions from
the global religious dialogue. First, I will give a brief overview on the deliberation.
Then, I will attempt to present how this exclusion occurs or might occur, while
weaving the Yoruba religious art as an example of the piece of the religious dialogue
that global discourse tends to reference in unique terms and lastly I will attempt to
suggest the implications of exclusing African Religions and Beliefs from Global
discourse..
To begin, my proposal to pursue this discourse stems from the class reading
assignment related to emerging global consciousness as a narrative under a concept
of theory of religion . This sentiment originated from commentary on the emergence
of a new global religion written by Dr. Mark Juergensmeyer in his response to
Sociologist Robert Bellah s Global Religion. He stated:
This will be the bases of the shared experiences that constitute on a global scale the
civil religion of national societies, one that uniquely expresses the character of the
emerging global community but that also has a spiritual dimension drawing from all
the great religions of the world [1]
which in my understanding is a reflection that impresses on a new dimension of a
religious thought, or tradition founded in part on Habermas in envisioning the
actually existing global civil society as well

Many awards were given to him for his accomplishments. For example, he was the
first to be awarded rookie of the year for all of baseball, not just the National

(Maddux Zito 482) This evidence suggests that what he did to the world of
baseball made a big enough impact to have an award named after him. Next, many
people were inspired by Jackie. His popularity grew with everyone. About half of
the Major League players were black by the 1970 s. Also, songs were written
because of him, a comic book was made, and a movie was created called Jackie
Robinson. (Graf 3) This logically implies that Jackie became a heroic figure and
inspired everyone. Last of all, Robinson impacted so many people that he has his

nobody else in the Major Leagues can wear it except on Jackie Robinson Day. The

Like for someone getting out of a house fire, and they have to lose their dogs inside
to save their own life. They are sad stories of how they were willing to lose one of
their most precious belongings for the greater good. There s one particular story that
I read a long time ago and it was about a father who worked at a express train railroad
drawbridge. He loved his son so much it was his only son too. Then one day, he
brought his son to work with him because his son loved trains so much. During the
day, there was a malfunction with the drawbridge, and it wouldn t come back
down. An express train was scheduled to cross that bridge soon, and if it didn t
come down in time it would be horrendous. So the father tells his son to go and see
what s wrong with the gears down in the bridge. The father stays where he s at, so
when the bridge will come down it will. While the son finds the problem, he fixes
the problem but then falls in and he s stuck by the top of the gears. The gears were
stuck and now they could be restarted by a lever at the maintenance booth where
his father was. The boy s father sees him fall, and rushes to get him. But, he then
sees the express train coming. By then, the father has to make a decision. A, he
saves his son, but kills hundreds of people on the train and gets blamed for it. Or
B, he kills his son to save all of the passengers on the train. What do you think he
picked? That man gave up his son s life to save all the people on that train. That s
dark and very depressing that it had to come to that. I would give up a lot to stay
alive, but I hope that it would never come to such a decision as
