2. The Field of Social Work and Evidence-Based-Practice
The writings of advocates of EBP demonstrate that a shift is taking place in the
social work field towards a more integrated approach where social work is an
applied, empirically grounded social and cultural science aiming at both causal
explanation and interpretive understanding (Otto Zeigler, 2008, p. 273). Talking
about the limits of RCTs they suggest that Typically, the experimental design is not
able to control for the effects of worker client dynamics and client characteristics
that are not clearly defined, understood or measurable (Cnaan Dichter, 2008 p. 281).
They go on to say: that there is a need for some sort of feedback process where the
fit between the practice needs and the effectiveness of the intervention are... Show

to include statistical analyses, narratives, and thematic qualitative analyses,
technologically sophisticated as well as profoundly simple ways of communicating
through stories, metaphors, anecdotes, artistic expression, poetry, and humor

A way for professional social work culture and institutional structure to further the
cause of practice research integration would be for them to embrace the contributions
of both academic and practitioner researchers alike. Then collaborations such as these
would incorporate projects that are research driven, where practitioners assist the
work of researchers and practice driven projects in which researchers act as
consultants to practitioners. Institutional arrangements such as these would have the
effect of empowering practitioners as co creators of social work knowledge rather
than disempowering them by emphasizing their knowledge building incapacities or
treating them merely as guideline implementers (Epstein, 2009 p. 227).

In this section i will be looking at theories relating to EBP and BP. In this case

3. Biography Of Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth the first was a very controversial figure during her time. During
her childhood, her mother was wrongly accused and killed. Her father then married
many more and also they disappeared. Through all of this she still became Queen.
When she took over her country was in ruins and on the verge of war. The two other
major powers were on either side of England and could easily defeat the country with
ease. She managed to get through this though with many forms of deception and
manipulation. Her lifestyle was lavish but the intentions were not all so great. She
had many hardships during her reign and this was how she traversed through it.
During this time there were also many rumors and speculations of her. She is ... Show

She was born a bastard child on September 7, 1533 she was born this way because the
Pope never granted King Henry VII to be divorced from his previous wife. Due to
this she was always treated as such a person she was never liked by the country in
her younger years. She was always treated like an outcast and so to help she
studied under the guidance of Henry s sixth wife Katherine Parr. With this she did
get a good education as many women of her time did not. She had several private
tutors because she was the daughter of a King, she studied many languages. Of the
various languages she learned Spanish and French as well as her native language
of English. She also learned many more languages. These are two very important
languages for her of this time, she had not know this yet, but in her later years this
would become quite evident. During her studies, she also learned theology,
astronomy, and physics in which she excelled in. This is partially to why she was
such a great leader and is adored. When she was around the age of two her mother
was accused of adultery by King Henry and she was executed by
guillotine.Growing up she also had siblings from different mothers. One of his
wives had a boy named Edward. After her father died Edward took the throne at this
time he was very sickly and died not too soon afterward. Next in line was her sister
Mary. During this time she became known as Bloody Mary she received this title
because she was known for persecution of many protestants. Queen Mary ended what
her father had started which is known as the protestant reformation. She ended this
and started to rebuild the Roman Catholic beliefs. This caused many people to flee
the country and started to make the country weak and vulnerable. During this entire
time Elizabeth never undertook the beliefs and practices of the catholics. There was
a rebellion led by Thomas Wyatt and mary insisted that Elizabeth was a
4. Importance of Hunting
Importance of hunting.
Like baseball and apple pie, hunting is an American tradition shared by young and
old, rich and poor, regardless of social or economic status. Three out of every ten
people are against hunting but for what reasons? What makes them stand out from the
seven out of ten that are for hunting? My preference supports hunting for many
reasons. Hunting is important because without it there would be animals struggling
to survive because of the shortage of the nutrient food they need on a daily basis to
stay healthy. It would also cut down the number of damage done to vehicles by
animals. It also gets more kids outdoors and involved in agriculture activities which
is needed now days. Believe it or not hunting is also a big ... Show more content on

Civilization is most often defined by its prevailing culture. In Chinua Achebe s
Things Fall Apart, this connection is still apparent. Okonkwo s father, Unoka,
displayed an appreciation of culture, as well as a deliberate incorporation of it into
his life. While he didn t treasure hard work or labor, Unoka was infatuated by his
village s music and stories, and was well known for his verbal prowess. In one
respect, he held characteristics that were traditionally associated with femininity, but
in another, he represented the Nguzo Saba principle of Kuumba, or creativity.
Unoka was titleless, and in one word lazy, but he was still able to contribute to his
people in ways he saw best fit. Unoka s most visible characteristic was, perhaps, his...

Because he could manipulate idioms and parables well, he was able to skirt
around responsibility and save himself from being a complete write off. While his
son, who in turn developed into a subpar communicator, did not praise this talent,
Unoka s ability as a communicator spared him from paying his debts in a timely
manner. An example would be his conversation with his neighbor, Okoye. Okoye
had come to Unoka s house to collect a couple hundred previously lent cowries, but
Unoka simply told him I shall pay you but not today. Our elders say that the sun
will shine on those who stand before it shines of those who kneel under them. I
shall pay my big debts first (Achebe 10). This scene displayed Unoka s verbal skills
as well as his cunning. In Umofia, the use of proverbs in conversation is highly
regarded, and here Unoka used that wisdom from his elders to fortify his argument,
alongside blatantly stating his point. He effectively communicated and arrived at
his ideal goal: getting Okoye to leave without so much as losing a single cowry.
This efficiency in language was also a clue to his creativity; while he was skilled at
combining words, his passion was music. Wherever Unoka went, his flute was not far
behind. He even carried it with him to his resting place in the Evil Forest (Achebe
21). It is stated that Unoka s happiest moments were the two or three moons after the
harvest where the village musicians brought down their instruments, hung above the
6. The s First Modern Grocery Store
Moreover, on that bright June day the hurry and spring in the pretty redhead s step
had a teeny bit to do with what her best friend, Sylvia, had told her earlier that same
morning: someone new had come to town; a handsome, mysterious young man.
All the harbor girls whispered in delight; gossiping, speculating and wondering
who would land the first date with this new guy. Rumors had it that he had started
work at the newly opened First National, the harbor s first modern grocery store.
Oh sure, there were fish markets and butcher shops and the likes, but mostly, folks
had milk, cheese and butter delivered, and the majority of women made their own
bread and put up their own vegetables and preserves. However, now with this new
grocery store, their basics could all be purchased in one locale. The young man
that the girls were all buzzing about had only been in Cutler Harbor for two days
or so, no one had met him yet. It was Priscilla, who told Natalie; he lived in
Damariscotta, some twenty miles away (he did). Then Natalie told Sylvia that she
heard he had a car (he did not). In conclusion, Sylvia told Lelia he looked like a
dreamboat, just like Clark Gable (he did). The person Lelia had worn her hand sewn
dress for, and couldn t wait to witness with her own eyes was Owen Isaac Bauer.
Beyond a doubt, his handsome appearance unearthed the dreamboat the gossip had
depicted him. His broad shoulders, combined with a thin build, had him appear much
taller than his measured
7. Hemineglect
Hemineglect also known as unilateral spatial neglect, hemispatial neglect, hemi
inattention, hemisensory, parietal neglect or spatial neglect (Kerkhoff, 2000), is a
condition in which patients are unable to attend and respond to the contralesional side
of space (Dijkerman, Webling, ter Wal, Groet, van Zandvoort, 2003). Hemineglect is
characterized by the lack of spatial awareness, most commonly on the left hemispace
(Parton Malhotra Husain, 2004). The most common form of hemineglect, is that of
patients who have right hemisphere lesions commonly found to damage the where
pathway, most commonly after a stroke. These kinds of patients tend to neglect the
left hand side of space (Driver Mattingley, 1998). Although it is not... Show more

PA is considered to be a restitutional treatment approach as it facilitates the
mechanisms of recovery. In theory its main aim is to attempt to alter the damaged
function within the brain, that allow for visual attention. Prism Adaptation is a
treatment introduced under the theoretical account of a representational model of
hemineglect. A representational model of hemineglect is a model in which suggests
that there certain brain functions that control both visual imaging and perception
(Ogden, 2005). A representational model takes into account that the spatial
representation of the patients contralesional side of space is damaged or distorted
(Pouget, Sejnowski, 2001). There is damage to the way in which the patient
internalizes a map of space in relation to where they are and what is around them
(Tilikete, et al., 2001). The method of prism adaptation is relatively simple.
Although you cannot control all the confounding variables, that underlie each
individual patient, there is a standard framework of how prism adaptation occurs.
A procedure for a PA treatment begins with a pre test, to establish a baseline
performance; then an active exposure to prismatic goggles to produce an adaptation
in vision; and then lastly a post test to see if there is any after adaptation persistent
after using the goggles (Redding et al, 2005). An example of a PA treatment is
through the works of Rossetti et al. (1998). Rossetti and his team began with a series
8. Maritime Archaeology And Ancient Trade
In Maritime Archaeology and Ancient Trade in the Mediterranean, Andrew Wilson
argues that ancient maritime trade peaked in the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
First, he identifies Parker s graph of known shipwrecks as inaccurate evidence on the
trade intensity of the ancient maritime world. Next, Wilson details several
technologies, specifically the bilge pump, and hydraulic cement, that enabled the
expansion of trade during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Finally, Wilson
concludes that it was Roman standardization of currency and language, not new
technologies, that allowed trade to increase in the ancient world. When the Roman
empiredeteriorated, trade decreased, leading to the loss of harbors and shipping
technologies.
In 1992, A.J. Parker published a study of known shipwrecks organized by their
approximate century in which the ships sank. As a result, many archaeologists have
attempted to equate this graph with fluctuations in ancient maritime trade, depending
upon the assumptions that each period had an equal probability of ships wrecking,
and that wrecks from all periods are equally visible to archaeologists. Wilson
disagrees, claiming that these assumptions are inherently flawed, and therefore, the
graph cannot be used to analyze ancient maritime trade. First, the risks of wrecking
were dependent upon the trade routes, which, in turn, were dependent on what items
were highly sought after (Wilson, 36). If products from nearby coastal cities were
desired, then
9. Summary Of The Playlist
The playlist had about a dozen videos, and there were two themes. The first was
gorgeous women with shaved pussies having them lovingly licked by some hot guy.
In fact, this was very similar to the cock adoration part of the blowjob playlist, only
with the woman being the lucky recipient. I wrote down shave pussy/offer to Corey s
tongue.
The next part of this playlist was the most aggressive in the entire collection, and it
surprised me. It was a few videos of a woman kneeling above a man s head while
grinding her pussy on his tongue and face. My hubby loved face sitting! I had to
smile. This, too, I could totally do. In every video, the woman grabbed the guy by the
hair and pulled his mouth against her pussy. I will totally do that.

This was a position that we both loved, and that would always be special for us. I
didn t need to make it any more special than it was. That said, I was really horny for
Corey right then. All those beautiful bodies fucking and licking and sucking. I had
already had two orgasms. I logged out, went to the shower, and decided to have one
more.
I looked at my list. I smiled at the line I wanted to do first: Cock adoration. My
research and put me three orgasms ahead. I would cross that item off my list and let
Corey catch up. The second day of Christmas was turning out to be a lot of fun.
Corey was in the shower, and I couldn t stop myself from laughing. I kept thinking
over the stupid name I gave the night cock adoration. It sounded so porny. But, at
the same time, it was kind of perfect. I was dressing up in my little black dress. I
had make up on, and I had done my hair. Why? All so I could look glamorous as I
did nothing more than focus all my attention on my husband s cock.
To kind of pull myself back to the task at hand, I opened up the pornfolio site on my
phone and watched one of the blowjob videos. One of the things I loved was how
the woman would use her mouth without her hands at times. The guy s cock would
twitch up as she kissed or licked it. I loved that.
I heard the shower turn off. I closed the browser on my phone, and with a wicked
smile on my face, I pushed the door to the bathroom open without knocking.
10. President Jimmy Carter And The Iran Hostage Crisis
Mere minutes after President Jimmy Carter was out of office, the Iran Hostage
Crisis, for which his presidency is most remembered, was over. Behind him was a
disjointed foreign and confused domestic policy. When he left office, Carter s
approval rating was 34 percent, and his disapproval rating nearly twice that (Roper
Center). Today, it seems that he is a better ex President than he was a president, as
evidenced in his founding of the Carter Center, his cultivation of his presidential
library, his contributions to Habitat for Humanity, and his numerous other
humanitarian efforts. During his term, he had a poor relationship with Congress, a
low approval rating with the American people, and a lack of cohesive international
or domestic policy. I believe his two greatest failures are also the two which marked
his entire presidency and caused the drop in his approval ratings: the confused and
faltering domestic and international policies which lasted throughout his presidency
and the IranHostage Crisis.
Jimmy Carter was a one term president who won on a campaign of being not
Washington and not Gerald Ford (Hargrove, 1988). Shortly after entering office, his
refusal to trade political favors with members of Congress, unwillingness to learn the
rules of Washington politics and play by them, and the general lack of
communication between his administration and Congress stalled any possible
working relationship. This cannot be seen as a failure on the part of Congress, who
11. The Effects Of Nitrogen On The Dairy Industry
Nitrogen is one of the main biogeochemical elements, around which a cycle supports
life on Earth. Nitrogen can be found in many forms, one of which is nitrite, a toxic
chemical that can produce severe abnormalities in animals (Binta and Mushi, 2012).
Nitrite is formed from nitrate by micro organisms and bacteria present in soil, water,
saliva, and the large intestine of most animals. These micro organisms are present in
high amounts in ruminants such as cows, which poses serious implications on the
dairy industry as nitrite poisoning, if nitratelevels are not closely monitored, can lead
to the death of large numbers of livestock as well as birth defects in calves. In
ruminants, nitrate is reduced to nitrite, and the rumen microbes utilize this nitrite by
converting it into ammoniaas a nitrogenous source important in DNA production and
synthesis of amino acids (Robson, 2007). Though, when levels of nitrogenrise in
excess, nitrite accumulates in rumen, and is then rapidly absorbed into the
bloodstream, then reacting with the ferrous form of haemoglobin to form met
haemoglobin (met Hb) (Sidhu et al., 2011). This is a serious issue as met Hb is a
poor transporter of oxygen and the animal suffers from oxygen deficiency. Nitrite
poisoning has become more common over the past century as application of
nitrogen fertilizer to farmland improves both quality and yield of milk produced by
cattle (Sidhu et al., 2011). Nitrogen increases the levels of crude protein in forage,
which
12. Essay on The Ford Pinto Case
Business Case (The Ford Pinto)
There was strong competition for Ford in the American small car market from
Volkswagen and several Japanese companies in the 1960 s. To fight the competition,
Ford rushed its newest car the Pinto into production in much less time than is
usually required to develop a car. The regular time to produce an automobile is 43
months but Ford took 25 months only (Satchi, L., 2005). Although Ford had access
to a new design which would decrease the possibility of the Ford Pinto from
exploding, the company chose not to implement the design, which would have cost
$11 per car, even though it had done an analysis showing that the new design would
result in 180 less deaths. The company defended itself on the grounds that ... Show

Ford did not approach the question of redesigning the gas tank to make the car safer
versus waiting another year allowing the foreign market to dominate subcompact
vehicles. Their goal was only to maximize profits. They did not into account the
interests of their share holders and when they did come into consideration, they were
analyzed against profits. One has nothing to do with the other. Their goal should not
have been a race to make the most affordable subcompact car. Their focus should
have been to make a subcompact car that was not only most affordable but also the
safest subcompact. They were aware of the dangers associated with the rush
production. It would have made a difference if the $11 savings had been passed on
to the customers because they would ve kept their reputation and integrity in tact
and possibly gain customers who were not considering the vehicle. Any rational
customer would not have chosen to save $11 to drive a car at the risk of dying. It
is never appropriate to knowingly jeopardize people s lives. That is a criminal act.
Their actions were socially irresponsible, ethically and morally wrong. They did not

14. Repressed Desires In The Age Of Innocence
Edith Wharton, in her novel The Age of Innocence , describes New York City in
the 1870 s to be dying of dullness . Characters within the novel often blame this
fact on the lack of desirable European culture in placid New York society. However,
it is more likely that the dullness that is suffocating New York is due to the
character s repressed desires. They do this in order to continue along to fit within the
societal norms. The stifling effect of the constricting 1870s New York City society is
increasingly evident in the characters of Newland Archer, May Welland, and Ellen
Olenska.
As the principal male character in The Age of Innocence , Newland Archer
exemplifies repressed desires felt by the men in the New York society. Often the men
were supposed to refrain from expressing any emotion, as showing emotion would
place a crack in the façade of male exteriors that were so crucial to society. During
an interaction, in which any person would have physically shown irritation, Newland
Archer is forced to restrain himself. Wharton describes Newland as slightly annoyed ,
yet previously in the same sentence she says, he could not have ... Show more content

Similar to the character of Newland Archer, May Welland suffers from the repression
of emotion due to New York City society. When announcing her engagement to
Newland Archer, her only thought is in regards to the requirement of society:
Remember, we are doing this because it s right . She has no thought to her own
emotions regarding the situation due to the stifling effect of the insular society.
Further on in the novel, Newland rebels against society s norms and kisses May.
Her response to this event is calculated and controlled: She looked at him with
surprise, and answered: Nothing . C.V. Eby comments upon May s relationship to
language and silence and implies that it has a lot to do with the society s pressure to

American Creativity Thesis The American creativity has slowly declined in the past
few years due to the technological advances which have made life more convenient
and also less demanding on people, which is a complete shift from the way the early
peoples who came to America. The earliest American settlers would have approached
situations and tasks differently because encountering challenging situations needed a
logical answer to counteract the situation. Creativity can affect many aspects of one s
life, including their government, religion, as well as shaping the demographics of the
country, and has nestled itself in society. These early ways shape practices that are

The type of government America created once they declared independence was
fixated on the people. James Madison, the father of the Constitution, also spoke
about how he believed the government should be run in other documents, such as
The Federalist Papers, which he authored along with Alexander Hamilton, the first
secretary of the treasury, and John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court,
A good Government implies two things: first, fidelity to the object of Government,
which is the happiness of the People; secondly, a knowledge of the means by which
that object can be best attained (The Federalist Papers). This recognition by James
Madison on his vision for the new country of America, shows the new way of
government that were being thought of, away from the traditional monarchy
practiced around the majority of the prominent countries in Europe. One thing that
could have influenced his view of an effective government, would be the
Enlightenment, which was a time when old, trusted philosophies were being
questioned and a lot of new discoveries and ideas were recognized and started to be
accepted into cultures. This could have affected the founding fathers reasoning for
establishing the American government to be the way it is for one major reason: to be
the first country in the western hemisphere to practice a true republic. Knowing they
could have a part in being recognized as constituting the first non monarchy authority
over the people, while still being effective could have pushed them to make the
Constitution creative. Not necessarily the way in which creativity would align with
today s perception of it, but in order to start something as big as a government to
control the people of a large land, and becoming even larger through the Louisiana
Purchase, they needed
19. The Marine Insurance Act 1906
Introduction.
The Marine Insurance Act 1906 ( MIA 1906 ) sets out a duty of utmost good faith
between contracting parties in insurance contracts. This duty is unusual in English
contract law and imposes a heavy burden on the parties. As a result, it has been the
subject of much academic debate, culminating in statutory reforms. This essay will
analyse the duty in both its traditional and revised form, focusing on whether its
merits outweigh its weaknesses and whether it should be retained.
The duty in brief.
Utmost good faith ( UGF ) (or uberrima fides) imposes a requirement of honesty and
of full disclosure between contracting parties. The distinction between good faith and
UGF is unclear. It has been suggested that good faith is simply fair and open dealing
between all contracting parties . UGF instead imposes a negative obligation not to
make misleading statements as well as a positive obligation to disclose facts which
might affect the other party entering into the contract.
The roots of the duty of utmost good faith.
The principle of uberrima fides in the insurance contract has been traced back to Lord
Mansfield in Carter v Boehm, with the first judicial attempt to set out the duty. He
based the duty of disclosure on the fact that insurance is a contract upon speculation ,
highlighting the imbalance of information between the insurer and the assured. The
contingency is calculated on facts which are generally only known to the assured.
This was regarded by Lord

Also, by putting down the rebellions constantly in the first few years and not
crumbling to pieces like in Russia, it shows that the Weimar Republic wasn t going

could stand on its feet and this only increased with the introduction of Stresemann

the government in Germany succeeded in putting down the threats, and slowly

21. he Death of Benny Paret by Norman Mailer
Fierce, vehement, and feral, Emile Griffith punched Benny Paret 18 times within a
mere 3 seconds. These crucial 3 seconds became life changing for the enduring
Benny Paret as he confronted death; unfortunately, Paret could not bear the deep
wound inflicted to him by Griffith and has passed away. In the stands, the audience
was frightened by what they saw, but one in particular, Norman Mailer, was also
appalled and incredulous in what he had witnessed. Afterwards, Norman Mailer
published a passage, The Death of Benny Paret, describing the brutal fight and
delineating his perspective on the issue. In The Death of Benny Paret, Norman
Mailer utilized stylistic devices such as diction, literary devices, and syntaxto give the
reader an overall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Mailer also interspersed various literary devices such as
figurative language and similes. Similes were ubiquitous in this passage because
Mailer wants the reader who didn t witness the event to know how it felt by using
everyday examples that the reader can relate to. In the passage, the reader learns
that Griffith was in like a cat ready to rip the life out of a huge boxed rat. By this
simile, the reader can relate to the issue which increases his empathy to the
situation. The reader knows that a cat chasing a rat shows that the rat is in a
predicament of life and death which is analogous to the life and death situation
between Griffith and Paret. Also, the quote ...like a baseball demolishing a
pumpkin... let the reader learn how the extent of Griffith s punches seemed by
comparing two situations: a baseball demolishing a pumpkin and Griffith punching
Paret s face. Inferring from the instance of the baseball and pumpkin, the reader
would feel appalled even apprehensive. Moreover, the reader would pity Paret
while resent Griffith due to his aggressive attitude. Mailer also uses figurative
language to show Griffith s lack of ethics and his truculent behavior. This figurative
language is provided in the quote ...he was off on an orgy, he had left the Garden, he
was back on hoodlum s street. Mailer

A lot has changed in theatre during the Renaissance era and today. Things that have
changed between the Renaissance era and today s drama include staging , language,
and topics. In the Renaissance era, theatre performances were hosted in: Inn yards,
Amphitheatres and Indoor Playhouses. In the 20th century, producers use movie sets

There are many different genres of manga. Each and every one of these genres has
faced changes as the years progress due to the culture of Japan changing. Things like
political changes, social changes, foreign influences and the like have all affect the
Japanese culture. The changing culture made way for new ideas to be brought into
manga. Two genres in particular have been affected by these changes, shounen and
shoujo manga. Shounen manga is defined as being made for young boys. On the
other hand, shoujo manga is defined as a being geared towards young girls. Cultural
changes have affected shounen and shoujo manga in the portrayal of sexuality, gender
roles, and the promotion of other aspects of daily life that were never truly looked at

propaganda of the 1930s and 40s. The sub genre began making its way back during
the late 50s and early 60s. However it had significantly changed, Many of these new
stories focused on the positive aspects of war: heroism and bravery against
insurmountable odds and often impossible circumstances (Johnson Woods). It
showed the struggles of the civilians as well as the soldiers in war torn countries.
Horror has also become a very popular sub genre in shounen mangas. A few of them
feature the horrors of the Japanese school system. Death Note is one example of an
extremely popular horror manga in the broader shounen genre. Other popular genres
include historical manga which usually coincide with the action or adventure genres.
The most common focus of historical mangas in the shounen genre are the samurai.
The manga has recently returned to the concept of good versus evil. Mechas are also
extremely popular. The shounen genre will ...typically follow the pattern of the
heroic journey (Johnson Woods). On the other hand there is the shoujo genre that
goes about things in a different way.
The shoujo genre has changed significantly since it was first created. The creator of
the genre is highly debated but many people believe it to be Takahashi Macoto.
Shoujo is unique because it is mainly a guide for

Sending emails to a client is like trying to get into their house so that you could sit
down and talk about how great your brand is, so it makes sense if you get
permission first, it is just like knocking on their door.
Think from the customer s perspective:
It doesn t matter how elegantly your ad is designed, to the customer it looks all the
same. And that is because the customer gets bombarded with a whole bunch of
advertisements and promotions the entire day, and your content goes in the same
imaginary junk box. Most of the times when you ask for permission from a
prospective client to send him emails, he is asking himself a few bunch of
questions. Like, what do I get from this deal? Is this guy going to spam me? Will
this brand keep filling my inbox with useless emails? Will I get some concession or
discounts? Are they going to offer me some unique deals like a go at the beta
version of their new product? These are the questions that you need to answer to gain
a customer for life, or risk losing business.
Getting in the good graces of the customer:
Most of the times, the emails you send, are filtered by the ISPs or the email service
that your customer uses, and put in the spam folder. And that is understandable,
because even though you sent a mail to someone who willingly gave you his or her
email address, they haven t really added you to their address book. Getting

movie to be created, Fantasia (1940) was the first movie to connect classical music
with animations. Directed by James Algar and released in 1940, this movie was the
first of its kind, using classical music and creating scenes with animations around that
music or vice versa. This movie contains eight musical segments all narrated by
Deems Taylor with different music and animations like Mickey Mouse, fairies,

After falling asleep, the brooms had the room overflowed with water and Mickey
could not find or remember how to make them stop. As a matter of fact, in this case
the story came first...and the composer wrote the music to go with it. (Grant). In
contrast to what Joe Grant wrote, none of the other segments in Fantasia had the
music created for the animation, the music was there first and then created the
animations based off of the music. Throughout the creation of this film, there were
over 700 animators that worked closely with director, James Algar to make sure
every detail of the animations were perfect. These animations were extraordinarily
precise as objects came to life or moved on the exact beats going along with the
music. It simply takes the audience into a magical world of what is going on
throughout the segments whether it be with spirits or dinosaurs. Starting out as a
failure after being released and barely making any money, this movie is one of a

He believed the only way to fight racism and oppression was to attack the economic
power of the white people. The thinking colored people of the United States, he
wrote, must stop being stampeded by the word segregation. . . . There should never
be an opposition to segregation pure and simple unless that segregation does involve
discrimination. (DuBois, 557.) He believed that some forms of segregation were
beneficial to the Black people. This statement from DuBois spurred a lot of
controversy and resulted in his resignation form the NAACP, which was primarily
made of integrationist, those who refused to see themselves as people of African
descent and opposed any form of institutional segregation based on race. Nationalists,
on the other hand such a DuBois, saw themselves as descendents of Africa, they
emphasized that Black people should create their own economical, cultural and
educational institutions.
The Conclusion: Black Nationalism was created as a result of the struggles of the
Black people in America, it was necessary for their cultural and economical survival.
Some may say that being a nationalist is being a racist; this is true in some cases.
Black Nationalism is similar to Kurdish Nationalism, or Armenian Nationalism, the
nationalism of oppressed people, struggling for freedom and equality. On the other
hand White Nationalism can be compared with Arab or Turkish Nationalism, which
includes racism, race superiority,

that contributed to such a high death toll were not just from the natural disaster, but
lack of proper planning. Unfortunately the city of Chicago had no official weather

the last fifteen years, more people have died from heat waves compared to all other
weather related disasters combined (Institute of Medicine and National Research

temperatures of 106 degrees and the actual heat index was almost 126 degrees. As a
result of these high temperatures and humidity, over 700 people were left dead in

Denial of Service (DoS) is a major threat in every type of Computer Network,
including Internet, Cloud Services and Sensor Networks. In this paper we propose
novel Security Metrics to compute the severity and impact of a Denial of Service
(DoS) attack, which helps to accurately and precisely estimate the monetary loss
incurred by an organization. These metrics are quantitative in nature and map Quality
of Service (QoS) requirements into measurable and acceptable threshold parameters.
The test results of the application of these metrics using Network Simulator are
presented. The work for implementation of these metrics in Network Management
Systems (NMS) and Visualization tools is in progress. Key Words: Security Metrics,
Denial of Service, Network Attack 1.INTRODUCTION Metrics are scales of
measurement used for improvement and scientific decision making. Security metrics
are useful for quantitatively measuring an organization s security level or of security
vulnerabilities of an entity. For comprehensive network security and Cyber
Situational Awareness Management, security metrics play significant role as
proactive protection measures rather than reactive analysis
33. Cyber Bullying And Social Media
Bullying and Social Media Virtual harassment is a common and growing
occurrence, and offline intimidation has continually been and remains to be a
problem. Bullying of all kinds peaks in Middle School and in greatest cases spills
off by College age, when scholars are more self regulating and more developed.
Shortage of organization amongst school staff, parents and scholars make cyber and
offline bullyinga constant risk to young people s assurance and well being. The
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services delivers a much briefer yet wider
meaning of the term: Cyber bullying is bullying that takes place using electronic
technology. It goes on to clarify precisely what is intended by electronic
technology as well as gives a very decent impression of the matter, as well as ideas
for action. Much of the government s distress is that bullying, in overall,
frequently includes illegal or criminal behavior. Bullying is unwanted, violent
behavior amongst school aged children that includes a real or apparent power
imbalance. According to Graham (2014), The behavior is often repeated and
habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of
an imbalance of social or physical power, which distinguishes bullying from
conflict. (p. 159). According to Bishop (2014), Cyberbullying can be seen as being
distinct from other forms of online behaviour. Some see cyber bullying as a form of
Cyberstalking, which involves taking a more strategic

35. The Immigration Of The United States Essay
Immigration to the United States has occurred in waves, one of the largest of
which consisted of nearly 28 million people between 1880 and the late 1920 s. The
newcomers living in various countries throughout the world decided to leave there
root of origin and immigrate to the United States for various reasons, some of which
included freedom from political and religious persecution, famine, or to experience
the American Dream of perceived economic opportunity. Once settled; immigrants
were often stereotyped and discriminated against because they were different .
Social Justice was nonexistent as Employers often took advantage of immigrants,
men were paid less than other workers and women were paid less than men. (Library
of Congress, 1990) The numbers of newcomers dropped dramatically in 1924, when
Congress passed highly restrictive immigrationlegislation. (Bankston, Carl L., 1999).
As time has passed the United States Immigration laws have made it increasing more
desirable for individuals to seek illegal entry as opposed to the legal process. High
regulation and subject to numerical limitations and eligibility requirements consisting
of necessary family or employment relationship and lack of access to humanitarian
protection, such as refuge or asylum status have played a significant role. (American
Immigration Council, March 2012)
Although a self professed nation of immigrants, the United States has historically

Summary of the movie: A gathering of young men end up stranded on an island
and begin getting to be plainly savage. Reasonable Ralph turns into the assigned
pioneer of a group of military children who crash in the sea and wind up on a rich
island. Initially, the gathering began as companions, cooperating to survive,
however soon they split into two camps, the other drove by Jack, who winds up
noticeably lopsided and somewhat vicious. Jack has a no rules, savage operation,
with his young men running chasing for pigs and plotting assaults on the
adversary camp. The head of a pig is put on a stake, and turns into The Lord of the

to some degree an image of who s in control, and a pair of glasses, used to start a
fire. Jack and his rowdy young peers attempt to take these. In the meantime, the
tranquil and intelligent kid Simon, of Jack s gathering, sets out and finds a cave
where a creature lives, the beast being the plane s captain who survived and hung out

37. Optimum Temperature Lab Report
Due to the knowledge that enzymes begin to denature at around 40 degrees and the
optimal temperature is around 37 degrees, it is hypothesised that 35 degrees will be
the fastest time as it is closest to the previously estimated 37 degrees.
Enzymes are proteins that act as biological catalysts within living cells. Catalysts
increase the rate of chemical reactions without being consumed or changed in the
reaction. A chemical reactionis a process that converts one or more substances
(known as reactants) to another type of substance (the product). Since enzymes are
catalysts, they can repeat the same chemical reaction over and over again without
being effected. Enzymes have a 3D structure which causes them to be very specific to
what substrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypothesis was supported by the results since hydrogen peroxide at 35 degrees
resulted in the quickest displacement of 100ml of water as predicted. The slowest
time was produced by hydrogen peroxide at 20 degrees. As the hydrogen peroxide
reached 40 degrees, the reaction rate became to slow down, which clearly
demonstrates that the reaction rate will increase with rising temperatures until it
reaches or passes its optimal temperature where it begins to denature (40 degrees)
The three main factors that affect enzymes are, temperature, pH and enzyme
concentration. The pH affects enzymes since certain pH cause enzymes to change
shape and subsequently unable to act on specific substrate. The temperature affects
enzymes as they begin to denature
Enzymes are designed to function at around the average body temperature of 37
degrees. So if the human body were to overheat as a result of a high fever or illness,
the increase of temperature would cause enzymes to work harder. But If temperature
continues to rise past its peak, weak bonds and interactions in the protein will become
disrupted, and the enzyme will start to fall apart and lose its original shape. When its
shape is lost, an enzyme can no longer chemically interact with its specific substrate,
consequently meaning that, it s also unable to catalyse any reactions. Which supports
research suggesting that enzyme activity gradually increases with a rise in
temperature up to the limit of body temperature, and then diminishes at higher
38. Effects Of The Criminalization Of Alcohol On America...
Introduction
This essay aims to show that if alcohol is legal, cannabis should be also. To do so I
will compare the effects both substances have on the health of their users. I will then
examine how much scientific evidence has been used when criminalizing marijuana
and whether that evidence is still applicable today. Finally, I will analyze the effects
of the criminalization of alcohol in America during the 1920s. I will use this case to
show that the misguided prohibition of alcohol is comparable to the current
marijuana laws. Though the situation was in a different social setting (and I will go
over that as well), I will endeavor to show that, in the same was as it was in 1933,
legalization not only provides a healthier lifestyle for users, but also breaks down the
criminal organizations that profit from it.
Existing Laws in the UK
The current drug laws that are in effect in the UK are those set forth in the Drugs
Misuse Act of 1971. The act separates illegal drugs into A, B and C classes; A
being the most harmful drugs and therefore the most heavily penalised, and C
being the least. Marijuana is currently qualified as a class C drug, after it was
advised by Proffesor Sir Michael Rawlins, Chairman of the Advisory Council on the
Misuse of Drugs, to be reduced from class B in 2002. The report contained a re
examination of the health and social risks of the drug, and within the cover letter
states The council believes that the current classification of cannabis is

This paper will examine and discuss the German Schlieffen Plan utilized during
World War I. The Schlieffen Plan was designed by Chief of the General Staff of the
German Army Alfred von Schlieffen, as a strategy for invading France, while also
holding off Russia. Schlieffen wanted the attack to be a swift and decisive strike to
ensure that France would capitulate quickly, allowing Germanyto send their forces on
the French front over to the Russian front, combining their armies into one force that
could then invade Russia. One of the main points of the strategy, was that Germany
would go through Belgiumand attack France where it was weaker, instead of the
Maginot Line, which was heavily fortified. The army would then sweep around and
take Paris.

Thanks to the high living standards, a booming technology industry and affordable
prices of real estate in Hyderabad, more and more buyers are turning to this capital
city to purchase properties at various price points. While facilities, amenities,
location, etc are the primary deciding factors in choosing a residential apartmentfor
sale in Hyderabad, an important aspect that many home searchers should pay equal
attention to is the floor on which the prospective apartment is located.
Have you ever given a thought to which floor you should reside on while selecting
an apartment for sale? While many factors are to be considered while making the
floor selection, top floor is one of the best bets for you if you are new at apartment
shopping.
41. Sloth In Henry Fairlie s The Seven Deadly Sins Today
Change the channels for an hour or two
Sloth (or Acedia), one of the 7 deadly sins in the Christian tradition, can be
generally defined as physically and emotionally shirking one s duties. Henry
Fairlie, in The Seven Deadly Sins Today , says that Sloth is a state of dejection that
gives rise to sluggishness...a poisoning of the will (Fairlie 113). It is this very state
that Green Day describes so aptly in their debut single Longview .
Longview describes the life of the slothful person. In the first few lines the slothful
person admits to himself, I m fucking lazy (Armstrong). This general attitude
pervades the entire song and the worst part of the slothful person in Longview is that
he understands this is a dejected state of his own making. He is in a house with
unlocked doors but knows that he has essentially locked the door to my own cell
(Armstrong). This is consistent with Fairlie s understanding of the Christian sin. In
the same way the slothful person in the song locks himself away, so does sloth ...

Failing to love a good according to its proper measures and failing to carry out
corresponding obligations (sloth) can lead a person, as it does in the song, to seek
another distraction, one that perhaps does not require anything of them. Instead of
looking for a job, as his mother requests, the slothful person in Longview smokes,
gets high, and masturbates. Getting high (in my experience at least) tends to
contribute to a state of slothfulness and encourages the shirking of one s obligations.
The masturbation part however, seems to fall under another deadly sin, the sin of lust.
Seeking sexual pleasures in the wrong sort of way and improperly loving persons
as the man in Longview is doing appears to be a symptom of lust. In this way
Longview shows the relation between sloth and lust and how easily one can lead to
42. Life Changing Relationship With My Grandmother
Life Changing Relationship
The relationship I have with my grandmother is one of the most amusing,
affectionate, and enjoyable relationships that I have ever had, and it has been this
way since the very birth of me.
My grandmother spent her career life working closely with people who needed her
and were at a point of struggle in their lives.
These efforts consisted of working at a children s home for emotionally disturbed
young boys, and teaching high school english in a program for pregnant teenage girls.
She wasn t a woman without problems, she simply decided to put her problems
aside for the sake of others. I have seen her do this a thousand times just in the short
16 years I have known her, and in many instances, she was doing it for me. She was
born and raised on the same farm that she lives on today, and my family lives in a
house right across from her on this delightful land. She loves the beautiful creation
that surrounds us, and has ingrained it in me from a young age to appreciate nature,
and see beauty in what others see as just grass and sky.
After reading this short description of my grandmother, she probably sounds like a
very sweet old lady.
She is sweet, but is not a woman you d want to challenge or treat unfairly.
My grandma has taught me to appreciate nature, stand up for myself while
respecting others, and to be a good friend who knows how to comfort a troubled soul
during a time of need.

Although his theory proved to be flawed, Hippocrates classification of some types of
mental health problems generally correspond to diagnostic categories we use today.
His description of melancholia, for example, is similar to our current conception of
depression. 69 70 Chapter 3 During the Middle Ages some authorities classified
abnormal behaviors into two groups, those that resulted from demonic possession and
those due to natural causes. The 19th century German psychiatrist Emil Kraepelin
was the first modern theorist to develop a comprehensive model of classification
based on the distinctive features, or symptoms, associated with abnormal behavior
patterns (see Chapter 1). The most commonly used classification system today is
largely an outgrowth and extension of Kraepelin s work: the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), published by the American
Psychiatric Association. Why is it important to classify abnormal behavior? For one
thing, classification is the core of science. Without labeling and organizing patterns of
abnormal behavior, researchers could not communicate their findings to one another,
and progress toward understanding these disorders would come to a halt. Moreover,
important decisions are made on the basis of classification. Certain psychological
disorders respond better to one therapy than another or to one drug than another.

Secrets of the Mind This summary is based on a video series, found on YouTube,
depicting the findings of neurologist, Dr. V.S. Ramachandran. Ramachandran is noted
for his use of experimental methods that rely relatively little on complex
technologies such as neuroimaging. According to Ramachandran, too much of the
Victorian sense of adventure [in science] has been lost. In the case of Derek Steen,
who is suffering from Phantom Limb Syndrome, Dr. Ramachandran evaluated the
levels of feelings on both sides of the patient s body by touching certain parts of the
patient with a q tip. When the Dr. stroked the q tip across the left side of the patients

DR. Ramachandran says that the reason Graham doesn t see anything, but can sense
its presence due to damage in the visual cortex. In a case similar to Graham Young,
Peggy Palmer suffers from visual neglect caused by a stroke in the parietal lobes of
the brain. Dr. Ramachandran explains that parietal lobes create a three dimensional
layout of the world around us, which allows us to navigate our direction. The
patient can see, but only on one side or the other, i.e. she only sees half of what is
really there. During an experiment where the patient was asked to draw a picture of
a daisy from memory, she was only able to draw the right half of the daisy.
Until, it was brought to her attention, she had no idea that she was only drawing half
of the picture. This gives us evidence that there is not only a sensory problem, but a
problem of consciousness. With 30 areas in the brain for seeing, visual input divides
into two parallel streams of processing. One called the How pathway, is concerned
with navigation and the other called the What pathway is concerned with recognition.
David Silvera has damage to the What pathway and has been diagnosed with
Capgras Syndrome. The patient does not recognize familiar people and places. He
contends that his parents are not who they say they are and does not recognize his
own home. The patient sometimes refers to himself as he was not David. He does
recognize his parent s

republic where its citizens elected leaders by voting for senators (people from upper
class or patricians). On the other hand an emperor had total power or dictatorship
since he controlled the Roman society (different groups of people from the wealthiest

the politicians, which they disagreed with. The women had penalties imposed on

between the triumvirs. During this time, the generals of Rome could not be

The women did not gain their rights and the triumvirs did not acknowledge the voices
of these women. The triumvirs were outraged by the fact that women should dare to

Because the characters in Crash portrayed a variety of ethnicities, the movie attempts

The name of the representative was Shanequa . The character also expressed
sentiments that because the representative was black, she had taken the job from four
other more qualified white men who did not get her job because of Affirmative

prejudice, racism and stereotypes, it used these stereotypes to convey this message.
For example, there was a Persian shopkeeper, who looked Arab, and could not speak

that Americans are unacquainted of other people in countries around them. When the

to the time it took for the shopkeeper s daughter to translate the conversation, he

Clinical Laboratory Scientists or Medical Technologists are science professionals
who work in conjunction with physicians and nurses as an important member of the
health care team. Depending on the amount of education a person has, there are
opportunities for advancement in the clinical lab. There are also other scientific
areas the Clinical Lab Tech can work in, such as research, public health and
academia. A Medical Technologist performs laboratory testing ranging from simple
to complex. The tests they perform may require complicated equipment or may use
something as simple as the microscope. What equipment is used depends on the test

Technicians to be licensed, particularly if they are working in a state agency or in a
hospital position. A Clinical Lab Tech studies a lot of the same courses as Biology
or pre med major. They take Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math courses for the

year at a clinical lab (usually a hospital that has the particular program) studying
Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Banking, Microbiology and Urinalysis. In
Hematology a student studies white and red blood cells, blood proteins, coagulation
and platelets. This course includes the study of both the normal production of these
cells and the diseases caused when things go awry. The Technologist in Hematology
also studies blood smears, where normal and abnormal cells can be

A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings
The fictional tale entitled A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings is an intriguing
story which is expressed very well in the title. The story is about just that, an old man
with wings. The only aspect that the title fails to point out is that he is an angel. I
find the story to be somewhat interesting; however, it isn t exactly hard to put down.
The one thing about this story that stands out the most, is the author s use of tone.
This is the main aspect of the story that jumps out at you. The usage of tone and detail
really works to the story s advantage. The first paragraph alone is filled with
descriptions that really set the tone and make you feel like you are there. On the third

By that time the onlookers less frivolous than those at dawn had already arrived and
they were making all kinds of conjectures concerning the captive s future. The
simplest among them thought that he should be named mayor of the world. Others
of sterner mind felt that should be promoted to the rank of five star general in
order to win all the wars. Some visionaries hoped that he could be put to stud in
order to implant on earth a race of winged wise men who could take charge of the
universe. At this point in the story, the characters start to wonder if the angel is
even going to survive. I feel that this sets a very dark and bleak tone. The angel is
lying there, motionless, and all of the people who are around him can only think
about themselves. It shows how selfish humans can be when someone or
something is dying, and the only reason they care if it lives or not is so they can
use it for their own benefit. Meaning, they want to use him for a leader or to bring
in money, as the main characters did. Pelayo and Elisenda (main characters) really
cashed in on the presence of the Angel. The way that the angel is being used and
poorly treated, does a good job of setting the tone in itself. Anyone who imagines this
situation is going to imagine it as somewhat of a grim one. This is actually quite
strange if you think about it. When most people think of angels they think of bright
lights and happiness. The angels are always portrayed as strong,
49. The Foreclosure Crisis Of Foreclosure
When the real estate value began to drop in 2007, hundreds of thousands of
Americans were evicted from their homes through foreclosure or short sales;
giving way to one of the deepest economic collapses in more than half a century.
Now a large amount of borrowers are starting to bounce back. Like a boomerang,
these battered borrowers are re entering the home market after years of renting,
nursing their credit and saving enough to buy again; but in a economy like this
that we could say now is sort of stable is it smart going all in on another mortgage
or better going with the rent to own .The house market has started to rise again,
and for so saying that, many boomerang buyers are heading back to the housing
market. People who go through foreclosure can rebuild credit records and qualify
for home loans again in three to seven years if they manage their finances well.
With many home prices still at low prices and interest rates near record lows, today
s boomerang buyers might even find their next mortgage more affordable than the
one before. Most of boomerang buyers are around areas such as California and
Arizona where the house market took the hardest hit by foreclosures, and their return
is contributing to rebounds in those markets. Going forward, many growing numbers
of boomerang buyers could help the offset the expected slackening in demand from
investors as home prices start to rise, says Stan Humphries, economist for real estate
website Zillow.

Comparison/Contrast: The Klondike Gold Rush The Klondike Gold Rush had
begun on August 16, 1869, when Yukon area Indians had found gold in Rabbit
Creek, near a town named Dawson in Canada. Word of the discovery of gold in the
Klondike hadn t reached other regions in the world till July 17, 1897, when gold
rushers finally set off to go to the vast Yukon territory. According to estimation, there
was around 100,000 gold seekers who decided to test their luck on acquiring some of
the valuable gold, which had been literally coming in by the tons! In the end, only
30,000 gold seekers had successfully reached the Yukon territory. Unfortunately, many

Out of the two trails, the White Pass Trail contained a few more outlaws, more
corruption, and the slopes were overall less steep compared to the Chilkoot Trail.
The Chilkoot Trail had a fewer number of outlaws who were trying to steal the gold
seekers belongings and corrupt them to spend money on absolutely nothing, but
this trail had many steeper inclines of the slopes, which brought forth a lot of
trouble for the gold seekers who weren t prepared. Many faced complications with
malnutrition, hunger in general, and death. No matter what trail the gold seekers
had taken to get to the Yukon territory, it was certainly dangerous in all
circumstances. Within To Build a Fire, the gold seeker or man who is portrayed as
the main character in the story is appearing to have difficulties with what nature or
the landscape was throwing at him. Alike in both reality and the story, the freezing
cold temperatures were a constant threat to the gold seekers who may have been
unprepared for what they might have expected. The reality part of the extreme cold
is adequate to how the extreme cold was described in the story because in both
references it was in the negatives somewhere between 20 degrees Fahrenheit in
temperature and well below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Besides the extreme cold, both the
reality and the story comparison can be
