Write An Essay On The Movie Jurassic
Leto was one of the titanides / female titans also a bride of Zeus and a mother to two gods,
Apollon, and Artemis. Leto is a goddess that has children and she protects them like they are a
precious element in the world. When Leto was pregnant with her twins, a goddess named Hera
followed her around and made her leave that lands that she had known, so that she could not give
birth to her twins. The floating island of Delos gave her shelter to give birth.
The film jurassic park was made to inform about how dinosaurs live were like to study about them.
It started when John Hammond and his bioengineering company clone dinosaurs using genetically
engineered chromosomes to create dinosaur eggs and then they were raised and put into the park
as an exhibit until a fat guy disrupted the system by putting a password of the computer and
when he did that there was a storm on the way and it knocked out all of the power to the park and
all of the dinosaurs that were in the park got loose and started to eat everyone they see until they

Burglar on the Job Throughout the novel Burglars on the Job: Streetlife and Residential Beak ins,
the authors Richard T. Wright and Scott Decker study the interactions of those who are within the
subculture of being burglars and how, why and who they commit these offenses toward. Within
this paper we will be discussing the relationship of Merton s anomie theory and how this theory
correlates to the acts and motivation of the individuals to accomplish the ability to acquire the

Hirschi s social bond theory does not prove to be strong or loosely affiliated theoretically within
this study. The pure fact that some of the individuals would steal from those who are close to them
makes it a contradictory equation due to the fact that these victims are usually those who are closest
to the hustler. [I spend the money from my burglaries for] needs, not wants, needs roof over my
head, food in my mouth and things for my kids .(Lynn No. 095) (Wright and Decker, 45) On the
other hand the hustlers would use their ability to affect anothers life just because they were an
easy target or target hardening boundaries did not exist on the property. Merton s Anomie theory
versus his Social Bond theory was persuasively building on one another. When one commits an
act resulting in the explanation of anomie it is a push and pull force that shows how a person will
weigh the options to see how an act will be weighed on their survivability. With Social Bond theory
our family governs our conscience on whether we should do an act such as burglary. Using the

Many Things Make a Person Essay
Many Things Make a Person In life one may come across many obstacles, the obstacles can either
make or break a person. Dr. Benjamin Carson took the challenges that were thrown at him and used
them to make himself a better person. He pushed through his problems with the help of his
supporters. Many things have contributed to the appearance that Dr. Carson has in today s society.
Dr. Carson is an open minded person, who feels that he should be able to express how he feels
about the way health care currently is taken care of. Dr. Ben Carson, Presidential Medal of Freedom
winner and legendary neurosurgeon, is now in the spotlight...most notable was his criticism of
Obamacare (Williams 1). When giving his opinion on Obamacare, Dr. Carson shows... Show more

At the age of fifty, Dr. Carson began to realize that he was urinating more often than usual. He
then decided that he needed to get checked out. He told his doctor that he wanted to be notified
as soon as possible, not knowing how much this would affect him and where he would be at the
moment. When Dr. Carson received the results from his testing he was in the middle of a
delicate brain operation. His doctor told him that he had prostate cancer, the high grade type
that spreads aggressively and kills at a high rate (Chappell 1). This was a total setback for Dr.
Carson, he was always saving others lives but now he was in need for someone to save his life.
It felt really awkward to him to be on the opposite side then what he usually was. However with
God on his side there was a blessing for him. When reality hit Dr. Carson on how serious his
cancer was he decided to scale down his fifteen hour work day to spend more time with his wife
and three sons (Howell 4). This showed that Benjamin wasn t sure on how much time he had with
his family because of the prostate cancer and wanted to spend as much time as he could with his
family.
Everyone should have goals in life, or strive to be successful. Dr. Carson was a committed
neurosurgeon at John Hopkins and the commitment that he had for his occupation led him to
accomplish many different things. Surgeon Benjamin S. Carson Sr. receives the Ronald

Types Of Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar )
There are several types of bipolar disorders, but the two main types are Bipolar I and Bipolar II.
Bipolar I is the definitive type of the bipolar disorder, and the person will constantly go through
both the manic and depressive stages of the condition. The length of these episodes will differ
from time to time. In Bipolar II, the manic stages are not as severe as Bipolar I; nevertheless, the
depressive stages are quite similar (bipolar). But what causes this life altering mental illness?
Several factors contribute to the cause of bipolar disorder such as genetics, biology, and
environment. It is believed by researchers that there is a genetic susceptibility for bipolar
disorder. The existence of irregularity on certain genes is also being investigated by scientists.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), children with a parent or sibling
who has bipolar disorder are four to six times more likely to develop the illness, compared with
children who do not have a family history of bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder does seem to run
in families, but that does not mean that if one has a bipolar parent, that the individual will
definitely have this mental condition, or even get it. It is believed by scientists and researchers
that it s not just a single gene that is the cause; but rather a number of genes which can be triggered
by an individual s environment. In some cases, a person can live their entire life with the gene, and
nothing triggers it or

Enzyme Reaction Lab
Introduction To maintain basic life functions, cells have to perform reactions. Early chemists found
that whenever certain chemicals were present in reactions, substances were changed from one form
to another. These certain chemicals present in these reactions were named catalysts. These early
chemists also found that enzymes were not consumed or altered in the reactions. Enzymes also
lower the activation energy in cells causing the reactions to occur at a faster past. In our cells,
enzymes are proteins that act as these catalysts. Enzymes cause cells to perform basic life functions
at a speed that makes life possible. Enzymereactions occur in nature, and they are spontaneous
reactions. (Stegenga Biology 101).

The Diamond Necklace, By Maupassant
Social classes exists since the years. Some people born rich and their generation stays rich all
the time, while other born poor and all their stays poor all the times. However, there are other
people who move from one class to another. Sometimes this mutation depends on the individual
effort. In the Diamond Necklace, Guy de Maupassant describe the life of Mathilde who born
poor and was not happy with her situation. Since she was unable to switch her social class, she
tried for all occasion to appear as rich women. In this short story, Maupassant shows in different
ways why Mathilde should recognize and accept her social class and live in the level of her
class. Maupassant thinks Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not
depend to her social class. Also, she should accept her class because happiness does not depend
on the materials things. Finally Mathilde should accept her social class to avoid the deterioration
of her life. First of all, Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend
on her social class but on her beauty and her intellectually capacity. People are not respected
because they are rich or poor, the beauty of each person is determinant in how people will respect
him. Especially for women in the Mathilde s society there was neither caste nor rank, for beauty,
grace and charm take the place of family and birth (Maupassant). Since Mathilde had a natural
beauty, she should not care about her class. Her

HOW THE MEDIA PORTRAYAL(S) INFLUENCED MY BELIEFS:
Every title that I have have listed involves a girl getting courted by a boy because he saw her one
time and was taken away by her beauty, an they immdiatly knew that he had to have her, without
ever speaking to her. Like in Cinderella, when she arrives at the ball, the prince instantly falls in
love with her because she is so beautiful and stands out from everyone else, and he doesn t even
know who she is. Another great example of this is Twilight. Bella has a certain scent to her that
Edward immediately falls in love with, without even knowing her. My favrotie example is the
movie Say Anything because the main character Lloyd experiences love at first sight with a girl
that is the complete opposite from him and is completely out of his league. I love that he just knew
that she was meant him.

Gran Torino Differences
Gran Torino Report A great majority of Walt s and Thao s differences are because of the
contrasting cultures they originate from. Thao comes from the Hmong people and Walt is a
Caucasian American. During the movie, the Hmong culture is expressed, the Hmong people
express gratitude and thanks to people through gifts and in return, exchange for work. For
example, when Thao apologized for attempting to steal Walt s car, his mother and sister give Thao
to Walt as a helping hand until his debt is paid off. This also shows some the Hmong peoples value
of respect when one of their own cause trouble to a respected another. When Walt is invited to

As opposed to Thao, who represented the men of Hmong , was very conforming and showed
little masculinity. Like Walt, he begin to reflect Walt s manliness throughout the movie. Despite
their major differences, Walt and Thao were alike to a certain extent: Thao and Walt share the
quality of caring for others, although they did not express it much, it was still present. The
problem I recognized that Walt had with his Hmong neighbors appeared in the beginning of the
movie and was that fact the Walt was a Korean War Veteran, because of this he seemed to have
an automatic resentment or dislike against them. Walt did violate many rules or norms, at the
barbeque he was confused and frustrated when Thao s family members stared at him, he was
later informed by Thao s sister that it was rude to look people directly in the eyes in Hmong
culture. Walt also was unaware that in Hmong culture, it is insulting to not accept gifts or help in
which is another rule is violated when refusing to accept the gifts and food for saving Thao. One
major, personal value Walt publicly displayed was his belief that you should retaliate when
someone troubles you, this happens in two scenes when Walt beat the gang member that

Analysis of the Poem The Weary Blues
Poem Analysis The Weary Blues This speaker gives a detailed description of listening to a blues
musician in Harlem. This poem has a mournful tone and tempo of blues due to its diction,
repetitive lines and inclusion of blues lyrics thus, giving the reader an appreciation of the state
of mind of the blues musician in the poem. In the poem, the poet incorporates several literary
devices to assist in upholding the theme and tone of the poem. The main theme in this poem is
the importance of music in human s daily lives; music is used to guide mixed emotions, express
joy and happiness, describe personal issues or as a means to release anger and frustration.
Langston in his poem gives consideration to the elements of blues music in the entire poem.
Words associated with music, melody and tune are used to describe the night, the blues and the
piano player. The sound of the music is described as a mellow croon as the piano player sings the
tune o those weary blues. The raggy tune and melancholy tone portray music that is sad, sobering,
and grim. The colloquial language used in the poem captures the readers attention while the
diction used emphasizes the musician s societal disposition while highlighting his frustrations; Ain
t got nobody but ma self. I s gwine quit my frownin ...I ain t happy no mo . In addition, the poem
uses imagery extensively; words like drowsy, rocking, pale dull pallor, lazy sway, rickety stool, and
raggy tune portray the

Sea Otter Speech
A sea otter is the smallest marine mammal in North America, and is a part of the weasel family.
They range along the coast from San Mateo County, and South ward through Monterey County,
down through Santa Barbara county. Most animals don t have fat on them, unlike a sea otter
which has blubber to keep them warm, which is very thick. It keeps the otters warm in negative
degree waters. Their fur is made up of million hairs per square inch. Only way they keep their
coats waterproof, which they only do by hours of cleaning and grooming. Sea otters spend most
of their lives cleaning their fur to stay waterproof and warm. Most sea otters eat up to a quarter
of their weight every day. Sea otters also may hunt on the sea floor, but always come back to the
top to eat its food on its chest, and use it as a table. A sea otters diet consists of crabs, clams,
crayfish, and frogs. Most otters hunt by detecting movements in the water. Their life spans only
last about 15 20 years for females and 10 15 for males. Male otters weigh up to 44 99 pounds and
females weigh about 31 73 pounds. Female otters normally have their first pup when they are
about the age of four to five. Their pregnancies last for about 4 5 months. Their babies are called
pups. The pups are born anytime of the year, except the California sea otters are born normally
through January and March. When the pups are born they weigh about five pounds. In Alaska they
are born in the summer and not the winter.

Manet And The Object Of Painting By Michel Foucault
Edouard Manet, an artist most commonly known in relation to the advent of modernist art, is
credited with introducing such painterly techniques as producing flatness in painting, and, a
layering down of hues (alla prima). He is regarded as the father of modernitГ©, having many
written works have been produced as supplements, responses or studies of his paintings and
influences in art three of which I present as subjects of scrutiny in this paper: the Painter of Modern
Life by French poet and essayist Charles Baudelaire, who produced several essays in relation to the
phenomenon of modernity (as both modulator and interpreter) Manet and the Object of Painting by

They differ in terms of length, structure, style and method of evocation. Baudelaire resorts to sub
heading sectioning, dividing his thoughts under twelve primary pillars, starting with I. Beauty,
Fashion and Happiness. Using such large, overbearing words and then breaking them down into
observational, almost ethnographical paragraphs where he describes behaviors, views and
examples in relation to his larger claims. In Foucault s Manet and the Object of Painting, the
structural form differs, as the text was originally a 1971 lecture given in Tunisia alongside a series
of other lectures he delivered in Milan, Tokyo, and Florence. Thus, what we find is a slightly
tweaked, translated transcription of the talk. Greenberg s Modernist Painting, however slightly
shorter than the two texts, reads clearly and is structured starting from a broad articulation of
modernism that is then rationed into specific claims or takes, enveloped in critical reflections upon
artistic practice as well as philosophy of the phenomenon similar to Baudelaire s

##liness And Loneliness In Ernest Hemingway s A Clean...
When I have a lot on my mind, I find it hard to quell my thoughts and drift away peacefully asleep.
The only thing i can do then, is to give up on sleeping. Watch the TV, or anything to get my mind to
stop wandering. Ernest Hemingway never fails to make you think deeper thoughts when reading his
works. This is the case In Ernest Hemingways a clean well lighted place is a short story about two
waiters, and an old, deaf man in a late night cafe. The young waiter is tired and impatiently
waiting for the old man to leave so he can go home. The older waiter tries to explain to him why
the old man is there at the cafe instead of a bar or bodegas. The short story is a set of dialogs,
and within these we learn that some need a safe haven for their despair. Some need a clean and
orderly place to contradict the dirty, unorganized mess they have in their head. Hemingway s short
story is about loneliness and despair.
To start with, the setting of this story takes place in what is most likely Spain. The title plays a
big role in the setting. The older waiter is trying to communicate the reason the man is there in
the middle of the night, and that is because the cafe is in fact a clean, well lighted place. The
lightness and order are the reasons he is there. He could go anywhere else to drink, but he is an
old deaf man that is there to get away from the darkness of the night. He is lonely and has lost
almost all hope. His only hope is that he can have a clean well lighted place to hide

The Stigma Of Prostitution, And Sexual Slavery
Feminists are concerned whether or not a prostitute controls her own sexual identity. Others believe
prostitution is degrading, and sexual slavery towards woman while someone like Martha
Nussbaum, believe its not threatening a woman anymore more than any other paid job. Where do
you stand when it comes to prostitution? Personally I m concerned with the moral factors and the
harm it brings to women both physically and mentally. Throughout this paper I will examine the
issues and questions which arise from Nussbaum s paper, Whether From Reason or Prejudice:
Taking Money for Bodily Service in order to help come to a conclusion on whether or not
prostitution is something society should control through the use of the criminal law.
The first part of Nussbaum s paper challenges to examine the stigmatization of prostitution by
comparing it to six other kinds of jobs/professions in which the individual uses her body in ways
that majority of us do not necessary find morally objectionable but are not far off from the ways
prostitutes use their bodies in the trade. These range from the domestic servant who must do
what the client wants, or fail at the job (pg. 375), the nightclub singer who pleasures her
customers by her voice to the colonoscopy artist who allows herself to be probed without
anesthesia in a consensual invasion (pg. 378) of her bodily space for the purpose of medical
education. The further we go down the list of the six jobs/professions, we see a closer

Silver Raindrop Monologue
I still remember the dreadful day of pain, seared into my memory for all of eternity. The salty
smell of blood filled the dark and smoky air. Gunshots rang through the air, echoing through the
trees; yet the white flag flew high above us. Bullets rained from the sky knocking leaves and
needles from the tree limbs and cut perfect circles through our tepees. An infant cried out hidden
in the blood of his dead mother. Then, in the shower of deadly metal, a silver raindrop passed
through the infant s head and for one fateful second, everything became silent. Yet the rain of
death persisted causing even more fatalities. I remember running as fast as my legs could carry
me, trying to keep up with the rest of our people while doing my best to hide from the rain of death
falling from the heavens.
Dehydrated and weak, I could run no further and collapsed in the vast plains with my travois in
tow behind me. For the next moon, my brothers and sisters walked in a straight line, following the
star that never move. Every day cycled into the same pattern, walking stopping, eating, sleeping,
and repeating. The sun rose and fell so many times we lost count. Finally, we came into contact with
a Cheyenne buffalo hunt who brought us back to camp upon specific requirements. ... Show more

Commentary On Still Alice By Lisa Genova
Genova, Lisa. (2015) Still Alice, Simon Schuster Ltd: London
After gaining a PhD in Neuroscience at Harvard University, Lisa Genova wrote numerous novels
themed around her speciality of mental health. Her best selling novel, Still Alice , is written from
the perspective of Alice, a successful 50 year old woman with the seemingly perfect life .
However, the struggle of accepting a diagnosis of Early Onset Alzheimer s Disease, whilst fearing
the stigmatic effect of its label, causes Alice to question her identity and purpose in life. The title of
the book graphically illustrates how, despite being the same person, the identity of someone with
Alzheimer s Disease can be forgotten.
After watching dementia turn her vibrant and intelligent grandmother into someone who neither
recognised herself nor her life, Genova was inspired to write Still Alice . The narrative unfolds
from multiple perspectives, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still Alice illustrates the social work dilemma of care versus control and how those in mental
distress struggle to access their rights of choice and participation in decisions. Within mental health,
lack of inclusion usually occurs because the individual is deemed incapable or their choices are
considered poor and pose risk of harm. The author cleverly demonstrates that the mental health
label is enough for Alice to feel compelled to justify her motives to others. Alice s mental health is
predominantly intact and she is able to articulate her wishes, yet Alice has to argue her case and
persuade her doctor that it is safe to prescribe medication. In addition, John, Alice s husband,
assumes that sticking to Alice s preferences is in her best interests. When John contradicts Alice s
request for coffee by stating she ll have tea with lemon , his action undermines Alice s

Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment
Wade Cobb
Dr. Boeninger
DWC 201
19 October 2015
Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a
rational response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments
in philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment,
thinkers emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on
religion that had been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human
embodiment of the Age of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period,
Benjamin Franklin is influenced by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in
order to establish beliefs based on reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought
out and methodological techniques for deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his
views on morality and virtue. He was a life long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he
put reason as the ultimate factor for knowledge and decision making.
Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His
parents were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its
mark on certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University
President Ezra Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan,
and other Judeo Christian

My Church Context At New Creation Ame Church Essay
During my examination of my church context at New Creation AME Church, I have determined
that I will explore the topic of Restart Churches . In my current context, the church has been in
existence for twenty years, with no physical church home. Given the history, dwindling membership
and financial issues, I would classify this churchas a Restart Church. Restarts are churches that
fall into two categories; those that are either failing, or have failed and those that have assessed
that restarting or starting over is the only way to invigorate their church plant or ministry in a
way that will thrive and become viable. The term restart covers the gamut of churches a majority
of which are small, and in a declining phase of ministry or stuck in the mire of inertia with little
or no church growth. A Restart Church is comparable to rebooting your computer. If you
experience a problem with your personal computer and the screen freezes or locks, you just
press Alt, Ctrl Delete and your computer will soon restart. Restarting a church process is a very
arduous, time consuming process that involves many varying factors that play a part in how long
it will take to get moving and become active. Dr. Aubrey Malphurs, Senior Professor of
Educational Ministries and Leadership and Pastoral Ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary,
estimates that 30 to 40 % of churches will close their doors after the first few years. An Estimated
55,000 churches will cease operations from 2005

Persuasive Essay On Animal Welfare
Animal shelters are overflowing, some euthanizing dogs just because they no longer have the
resources to care for these animals, yet people are still buying their dogs from the pet store. When
getting a new dog, adopt it from the animal shelter rather than buying it from a pet store.
Everyone wants to have a cute cuddly family dog, however, they are not willing to put in the time
and energy into properly training their animals so they either leave them on the side of the road,
or take them to animal shelters. According to ASPCA 3.3 million dogs enter animal shelters
each year. each. year. Yet people are still against shelter dogs because of some bad dogs. This
high number causes some animal shelters to reach max capacity and not be able to fully provide
for these animals so many are euthanized just to make more room for more abandoned animals. A
total of 670,000 dogs euthanized each year, yet individuals still continue to support puppy mills by
buying puppies from the pet store. When getting your new puppy from the pet store, it is important
that you understand what environment they were raised in. Individuals who buy their dogs from
pet stores, are supporting puppy mills. Puppy mills are: unsanitary, unethical, and worst of all,
completely legal. ASPCA outlines the Animal Welfare Act in theory protects these animals from
mistreatment in these commercial breeding facilities, however, these laws are hard to enforce. The

Durga Puja Essay
Dusshera/Durga Puja Vijyadashmi or popularly known as Dusshera also called as Durga puja in
other eastern parts of the country is celebrated as one of the most popular festival, all across the
country with some minor traditional and cultural changes, as per the local myths and fables
except for the one real story, which most of us know but just to refresh what we read and were
taught by our parents and grandparents regarding the festival I should narrate it once again. The
term implies Vijaya meaning victory and Dashmi meaning tenth day of the Hindu calendar in the
month of lunar calendar of Ashwin corresponding to the month of September or October
according to the English/Georgian calendar, but now the question arises who won and over
whom? What actually happened? Dusshera/Durga Puja is celebrated as the triumph of good over

The Origins Of Yoga And The Second School Being Hatha Yoga
In 1893, a man by the name of Vivekananda came to speak at the Parliament of Religions in

permeated throughout the United States while capturing the minds of brilliant Americans such as
Gertrude Stein. Vivekananda as well as the Doctrine of Yoga

The young monk made a profound impression on the people who attended the speech. His speech
left people spellbound and enchanted. He was able to simplify Vedanta thought in such way that
it was more digestible for westerners and more importantly he conveyed the idea that all souls
were inherently divine. His mantra was relatable to American, work and worship. Vivekananda
became a star overnight. He proceeded to tour the country to further the doctrine of yoga across
the nation. Yet the yoga we see across our country is very different from the yogic tradition
Vivekananda was teaching. In fact Vivekananda had an absolute lack of interest in the physical
aspect of yoga we see today in our society. His goal in America was to help Americans realize
God. He was considered the first missionary from the east to the west and it was his goal to help
Americans rid themselves of this American individualism. He wanted to rise above the western
perception of the east being this exotic and magical place and to deliver truth to people. He felt
very strongly about his proselytization. He was quoted saying, I have a message to the West as
Buddha had a message to the East. That being said Vivekananda was a man of this world. He had
reportedly been seen smoking and eating meat, so this man was far from perfect. Yet nevertheless

I am a visual learner, have an integrated brain, meaning I use both hemispheres, and ranked highest

There are three types of learning styles. They are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. An auditory

information through visuals such as charts, pictures, and other types of printed information.
Kinesthetic learners process information by muscle movements and experiences that are hands on.

the important information. Also, it will sink in more because it is generally easier to visually
remember ones own written text rather than printed text. By implementing this new, more in
depth study strategy I should show great improvement in my test and quiz scores, as well as in
all other aspects of my classes. The second strategy I will try will be to add in some techniques
from my second strongest category, kinesthetic. In this strategy I will be using all of the techniques
from my first strategy, while adding manipulatives, walking and standing, and creating games. I
will add manipulatives such as making flashcards. This will enable me to keep my hands busy
while I learn. While studying the highlighted text and the rewritten text I will attempt to be standing
or walking to dismiss the distraction of being uncomfortable from sitting for too long. Games will
be created to make the studying more interesting. It will allow me to capture more of the
information due to the use of a different studying technique. By experimenting with these different
techniques I will be able to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of my studying, which will in
turn show in higher grades.

Child Development Observation Report Essay
Compare and contrast a child from younger age group with a child from an older age group.
For the younger age group, I observed a 6 month old, boy infant, called Manden, in my friend s
home.
1.Adult/Teacher Interaction: In an adult interaction, the child I observed were more engaged with
the people around him by infant directed speech. His mom and I were basically called his name
by rhythm, and he responded to us by smiling and being excited. As I observe in terms of turn
taking, I realize Manden responded to the people around him after everyone is done talking to
him. For example, he looked at the person who he believed is talking to him. After the person was

He really enjoyed playing the games. I realize that whenever I hid my face from him, his face
looked natural, he was not trying to find where did I go. However, when I appear in front of him,
he smiled and giggled. This is consistent with Manden normative development where he can
recognize familiar faces and respond to the sound of people around him (Arnold K., 2013). Other
than that, he also has started to put things in his mouth. According to his mother, Manden also has
started to eat gentle baby food. Referring to Piaget s Theory of Cognitive Development, Manden is
in the sensorimotor stage based on his action towards the objects around him (Steinberg et al.,
2011, p. 126 127).
5.Social Interactions/Development: There are not too much I expected to see in Manden s social
interaction in my observation. At first, Manden was really attached to his mother. He was afraid
when other people tried to take him from his mother. After a while, he can accept people around
him and did not cry when separated from his mother. He also looked happy when other people
keep calling his name. He has also become more excited when her sister come near him and tried
to play with him. Even though I expected to see more active interaction between Manden and his
sister, but I did not get the chance since he seems to start crying whenever his mother put him
down to play. However, the way he reacts to strangers; where he

many greenhouse gases which will pollute the cities. However, our cities already have a lot of
pollution so if greenhouse gases are added to the mix it won t be of any harm. People also argue
that parks take up land space that could be developed for retail and the use of natural resources.
Parks actually help contribute to the economy because it helps in the real estate market and

Influence Of Christianity On Dantes Inferno
In the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, there is an apparent use of an engaging number of
literary devices throughout his entire story. This enriching quality in Dante s writing is a major
part of why his stories became so influential in history, even in to today s society. His writing also
had a major influence on the religion of Christianity, specifically the Catholic Church. At the same
time, Christianity had major inspiration on his writing. His use of spiritual allusions is filled from
the beginning to the end of the comedy, ranging from biblical to mythological references. The
biblical influence in the Divine Comedygoes into the very structure of the story. This allegory is the

One could argue that the idea of hell alone could be a Christian ideal, but this idea belongs to
many other religions and is far too broad. Dante describes the inferno as having nine different
circles, each with a different level of punishment. The nine different circles do not pertain to
Christian literature, however, Luke 12:47 48 does suggest there are different types of punishment.
When Virgil and Dante are about to set their quest into the inferno, he tells Dante that he will see
and hear the screams of people in their second death. This idea of a second death comes from
Revelations 21.8 when it is explained that the the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable,
and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their
part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone (Rev 21:8, KJV). These are the people
that inhabit the inferno, derived from Christian judgement and approved by Dante s hell. There
are also many biblical characters mentioned while Virgil explains Dante s upcoming quest. Dante
mentions the successors of the Apostle Peter (Inferno Canto II 24), St. Paul and his venture into
heaven (2 Corinthians 12.2 4, KJV), and of A gracious lady, who sits in heaven grieving, also
known as the Virgin Mary (Inferno Canto II 93). Other characters are also addressed such as
when Virgil and Dante are approaching the City of Dis when they see, more than a thousand
fiendish angels (Inferno Canto VIII 83). These angels are the rebel angels that were cast out of
heaven and hurled to the earth (Rev 12:9, KJV) along with Satan in Revelation 12.9. Towards the
end of their journey in the inferno, far across the ice, Virgil and Dante see the massive figure of
Lucifer. In the bible, Lucifer, also known as the light bearer, was the most beautiful of angels
before he rebelled against god. He was then renamed Satan, even though he is referenced to as

Examining Four Types of Diversity Essay examples
While diversity is often a term used to refer specifically to cultural differences, diversity applies to
all the qualities that make people different. From a management perspective, the key to diversity is
to understand how different types of diversity and different demographic characteristics can impact
human behavior. The four types of diversity that will be examined are: occupation, differences in
skills and abilities, personality traits, and value and attitudes. For each type of diversity, the impact
on individualbehavior will be described.
One type of diversity is occupation. For example, an individual in a professional occupation is
more likely to make his or her own decisions and is also more ... Show more content on

The same employee may have had close relationships with subordinates before they became
supervisor. This example shows how occupation impacts behavior and how a change in position
can alter individual behavior. The next type of diversity is differences in skills and abilities. One
of the most important factors when considering skills and abilities is that individuals will often
adapt their behavior so they are making use of what they consider their positive skills and
abilities. For example, consider the case of an individual who believes that they have very
effective written communication skills but very poor oral communication skills. This individual is
likely to adapt his or her behavior so they write as much as possible, while avoiding communicating
orally. As a specific example, this individual might prepare memos or write emails as a way of
communicating with their employees, instead of having a meeting with employees. This illustrates
how people tend to adapt their behavior so they are using their positive qualities, while avoiding
having to use their weaker skills and abilities. Another type of diversity is personality traits.
Personality traits are defined as recurring patterns of behavior such as friendliness, social
dominance, conventionality, emotional adjustment, and aesthetic inclination (Seamon Kenrick,
1994). As this definition shows, personality traits are actually defined because of the observed
behavior they result in. The link

The plasminogen system works in opposition to clotting factors, which work to create clots of
fibrin such as thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor. Since pleural tissue is covered in elastic
tissue and relies on said tissue for mechanical function, the build up of fibrotic clots can damped the
physiological ability of these tissues (Figure 1). It is the interaction of various immune responses
and tissue remodelling that cause further complications to asthmatic individuals (10).

Music in Othello
Music in Othello
In Cyprus, observing the joyous reunion of Othello and Desdemona, Iago says to himself that he
will wreck the lovers harmony: O, you are well tuned now! / But I ll set down the pegs that make
this music, / As honest as I am (2.1.199 201). The pegs to which he refers are the tuning pegs on a
stringed instrument. Their love is the instrument on which Iago is planning to loosen ( set down )
the pegs until the harmony is turned into discord. [Scene Summary]
Because no one like to be a party pooper, Iago sings drinking songs in order to encourage Cassio
to get drunk. Drinking songs tend to be rollicking, jolly justifications of drinking. Iago s first song

Othello s occupation s gone! (3.3.345 357)
The music of war, including the thunder of the cannon, makes Othello feel alive, fully himself, but
without Desdemona s love he feels that he s nothing. [Scene Summary]
Shortly after Othello has berated Desdemona about the handkerchief, Cassio appears to once
again ask Desdemona to intervene on his behalf. She tells him that My advocation is not now in
tune; / My lord is not my lord; nor should I know him, / Were he in favour [appearance] as in
humour [attitude] alter d (3.4.123 125). In other words, now is not a good time to talk to Othello;
he s not himself, and if his appearance had changed as much as his attitude, she wouldn t
recognize him. The phrase in tune is so common (in Shakespeare s time as well as ours) that it may
be a stretch to call it a musical image. [Scene Summary]
At a moment when Iago is trying to build Othello s jealousy into a murderous rage, Othello
begins to think of what a beautiful, sweet woman Desdemona is. Iago tells him that he needs to
put such thoughts out of his mind, and Othello says, Hang her! I do but say what she is. So
delicate with her needle. An admirable musician! O, she will sing the savageness out of a bear
(4.1.187 189). However, it s not Desdemona s music, but Iago s words that win the battle for
Othello s soul. Othello s mood becomes ever more savage, and he plans the time, place, and

Analyzing Rachel Carson’s “the Obligation to Endure”
Essay
Analyzing Rachel Carson s The Obligation to Endure In her essay The Obligation to Endure ,
Rachel Carson alerts the public to the dangers of modern industrial pollution. She writes about the
harmful consequences of lethal materials being released into the environment. She uses horrifying
evidence, a passionate tone, audience, and the overall structure of her essay to express to her
readers that the pollution created by man wounds the earth. There are many different ways that
pollution can harm the environment, from the nuclear explosions discharging toxic chemicals into
the air, to the venomous pesticides sprayed on plants that kills vegetation and sickens cattle. The
adjustments to these chemicals would take generations. Rachel... Show more content on

This is an efficient strategy. It makes her audience want to get involved and preserve the natural
resources the environment has to offer. In her essay she describes the devastating effects chemicals
have on the environment with such conviction; it might make the reader feel obligated to make
changes in his or her own life to help the natural world. Rachel Carson uses an assertive tone to get
her point across. She has a one sided argument and is very aggressive to those who oppose her point
of view. She is very effective at stating her opinion to her audience. In her essay Rachel Carson
targets anyone who will listen as her audience. She wants to inform human beings of the effects
chemicals have on the environment. Rachel Carson s audience had little knowledge of the effects
radiation and pesticides might have on nature or to themselves. She successfully enlightened her
audience to the harm man was causing to the environment not only presently, she also wrote of
future ramifications. She predicts Future historians may well be amazed by our distorted sense of
proportion. How could intelligent beings seek to control a few unwanted species by methods that
contaminated the entire environment...? (Carson 615). This statement might make her audience
scrutinize their actions through the eyes of future generations. Rachel Carson used cause and

The Freedom of Speech is granted to every American citizen and has been since it was founded in

Pros And Cons Of Valentine s Day
February February...there s a lot of things I think about in this month. The first thing I think
about is Valentine s Day, with all the love in the air. Most importantly, the second thing I think
about is Black History. In everybody s mind this is the shortest month of the year, it s about love,
and the appreciation of African Americans. What is Valentine s Day? Valentine s Day is going
out your way to do something for a loved one. But why should people have to really show their
love for someone in a certain month, on a certain day? Love should always be expressed
everyday. Valentine s Day was created by a man named St. Valentine. There are many stories on
how this became such a big holiday, but one story says that he was imprisoned and he wrote the
first Valentine to the love of his life because he was going to die, ending the letter with From
your Valentine. Later in life, it became more about love because people during the middle ages
began to realize that during the middle of February is which the 14th, the birds mating season
had beginned which resulted in love. But, I feel that Valentine s Day has its pros and cons. It is
about being loved by someone and being able to express how you feel towards a loved one. This
day is usually men going out their way to do something special for their significant other.
Sometimes it is the women doing something special, but the men are usually the ones to do
something special first. Some people have a really good Valentine s

character who is trying to find a way to stand up for himself. Throughout the story, he undergoes

discovers that Queenie has on a bathing suit with the straps down by her arms exposing her clean

faces to how their hair was not fizzed right (19). Sammy makes these vivid observations about the
girls to show the reader how they stand out from the normal. The girls represent Sammy s thoughts
and views on how he wishes to escape from the ordinary. By the end of the story, Lengel comes
up to the girls and confronts them about the way they are dressed. Queenie starts to blush and
feel powerless when she realizes where her place is (22). At that point, Sammy stands up for the
girls and quits. The reader can tell that Sammy is going out of his way to defend the girls and for
what he believes in. Throughout the story, he wishes to escape and standing up to Lengel was a
way. Sammy s descriptions and bravery reveal that he is changing into someone different than the
normal. Most importantly, Sammy demonstrates that he is a dynamic character when he decides to

The Cure For Anything Is Salt Water
As Isak Dinesen famously states in Seven Gothic Tales, The cure for anything is salt water tears,
sweat, or the sea. Paradoxically, since the days of ancient creation epics, the sea has been a
symbol of chaos and danger; clearly, water takes on these characteristics in the terrifying ocean
in The Awakening and in the river that swallows Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Yet for each
major character in the two novels, water yields lucidity in its wake; it is the cure that brings
closure to each story and enlightenment to each woman. Water, in many forms, affects every
major character in [oh god what s a synonym for the two novels ]. Fears of submersion,
overpowering tears, visions of deep sea creatures, and baptismal deaths all seep into the pages of
the two novels. In some cases, water is clearly something to be avoided; take, for example, Laura
Brown s reluctance to begin her tasks as a housewife in the morning. She must [summon]
resolve, as if she were about to dive into cold water (41) just to put down her book, because there
is more passion and promise in Virginia Woolf s words than in her own existence. For Clarissa
Vaughn, too, water invokes feelings of discomfort; as she steps from her home onto the streets of
Greenwich Village, she pauses at the threshold as she would at the edge of a pool, watching the
turquoise water lapping at the tiles, the liquid nets of sun wavering in the blue depths (9). She
admires the freshness of the morning, [delaying] for a

John Rawls And Nozick Social Justice
Views on social justice are highly important to defining the role of the state within society. The
perspectives presented by political philosophers John Rawls and Robert Nozick demonstrate two
extremely different views of societal justice and the roles that the state should have in society. To
express these views, Rawls and Nozick each form their own principles of justice, or sets of rules to
guide societal justice. In this paper, I will analyze the views of each of these thinkers. I will also
argue that Rawls principles of justice are preferable to Nozick s due to Nozick s lack of focus on
societal inequalities.
To understand Rawls principles of societal justice, it is important to first define exactly what a
society is. Rawls defines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Nozick s Theory of Entitlement, he argues that one is entitled to any holding that is gained
through just measures. However, this disregards the disadvantages that many face in society.
Systematic poverty is one of the disadvantages that is prevalent in our current society, as there is
extensive research citing the negative effects of growing up in poverty. One such study, which
appeared in the Science Magazine, gives evidence that growing up in poverty causes heightened
levels of stress, which can lead to people developing risk averse and less goal directed behavior.
These psychological changes can cause poverty to continue over generations. This is problematic
because the family a person is born into is not reflective of desert or merit. If economics were
operated completely freely, those born into disadvantaged families would have a decreased chance
of reaching financial stability purely due to natural chance. Even if all individual acquisitions and
transfers of holdings are made justly, a just society needs to have systems that help impoverished
citizens find a path to financial

Black Nationalist Civil Rights Movement
The Black Nationalist was one of the important components of the civil rights movement in
America since 1877. There were two notable developments in 1957 that energized the civil rights

Eisenhower s decision, of dispatching federal troops to Little Rock, in Arkansas, for restoration

such as the Black Nationalist largely helped in arousing the previous civil rights movement s

Similarities Between Orwell And The Truman Show
Power, the good life and utopia are all connected, without one you can t have another. But what
is power, the good life and utopia? And how is each of these topics viewed by different people?
Peter Weir; the director of the Truman Show, and George Orwell; the writer of animal farm have
almost the same views on each topic and make that clear in their work. In each of these topics it is
clear that Weir and Orwell are in agreement.
Power is the ability to do something or act in a particular way. But with power comes great
responsibility. In the Truman Show, Weir shows how one person s power can be seen as good by
some, but bad by others. For example, Kristoff thinks that he is using his power over Truman to
make sure he lives the perfect life. Whereas Truman wants to live out his dreams of adventuring
and traveling the world, something that Kristoph does not allow using his power over him.
There is a conflict of interest, and unfortunately for Trueman, Kristoph unfairly has more control
over the end results. Kristoph is in a way responsible with his power although for a different
point of view, such as truman s, it would be seen as irresponsible as well as unsympathetic.
Likewise, in Animal Farm, Orwell tells us how a group s power can be seen as good by some,
but bad by others. One example being the change of rules that the pigs create for the farm, using
their power, for their obvious benefit. While some of the animals go along with the change, other
tend to dislike or clash with the idea. The pigs are not responsible with their overall power over the
animals, leading to the destruction of their original plan of action. In conclusion, both Peter Weir
and George Orwell say that where there is power, there is also conflict of interest and much
responsibility alongside it. There is also conflict when it comes to the perfect world, being utopia.
Utopia is a term given to the concept of a perfect society. Its an imagined place or state of things
in which everything is perfect. Meaning it is not possible in reality. In the Truman Show, Weir
shows how if one is able to, they will create their idea of Utopia, disregarding others needs and
wants for their own. Kristoph created Truman s reality based on his idea of

Aurelian Roman Emperors Essay
Beginning with the rise of the Roman Empire, many emperors of differing abilities would rule
Rome. Some would become men of great renown in Roman history, such as Trajan, but others were
despicable leaders, such as Nero and Caligula. However, all of them changed the course of the
Roman Empire, with many of them becoming known for their great accomplishments. One of these
emperors was Aurelian. Aurelian was a great military leader, strong emperor, and a strict
administrator. Also, unlike most of the emperors, his common birth did not suggest his future
destiny with greatness.
Aurelian was born in the province of Rome in 214 AD. Unlike prior emperors of Rome, his
father was a commoner, and had no ties to politics. Like most commoners did during the time,
Aurelian joined the legion. The legion was Rome s version of the army. He quickly showed his
military talent and served most of his career as a cavalry commander. His military success led to
his first introduction to the politics of Rome. Due to his prowess as a cavalry commander, he
became Gallenus escort. Gallienus was the 41st emperor of Rome. However, his service to the
emperor didn t last long. Gallienus died at the hands of an assassin while laying siege against the
Roman general Claudius. It is reputed that Aurelian may have taken part in the plot. Soon after the
emperor s death, Claudius became emperor. During his reign, Aurelian soared through the ranks of
the military. Then, in 270 AD, Claudius fell ill to the

Wright and Scott Decker study the interactions of those who are within the subculture of being burglars and how, why and who they commit these offenses toward. Within this paper we will be discussing the relationship of Merton s anomie theory and how this theory correlates to the acts and motivation of the individuals to accomplish the ability to acquire the means of society. Also we will be evaluating these individuals by explaining Hirschi s social bonds theory allowing this to help us better understand those who have personal relationships and what effects this has on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hirschi s social bond theory does not prove to be strong or loosely affiliated theoretically within this study. The pure fact that some of the individuals would steal from those who are close to them makes it a contradictory equation due to the fact that these victims are usually those who are closest to the hustler. [I spend the money from my burglaries for] needs, not wants, needs roof over my head, food in my mouth and things for my kids .(Lynn No. 095) (Wright and Decker, 45) On the other hand the hustlers would use their ability to affect anothers life just because they were an easy target or target hardening boundaries did not exist on the property. Merton s Anomie theory versus his Social Bond theory was persuasively building on one another. When one commits an act resulting in the explanation of anomie it is a push and pull force that shows how a person will weigh the options to see how an act will be weighed on their survivability. He told his doctor that he wanted to be notified as soon as possible, not knowing how much this would affect him and where he would be at the moment. When Dr. Carson received the results from his testing he was in the middle of a delicate brain operation. His doctor told him that he had prostate cancer, the high grade type that spreads aggressively and kills at a high rate (Chappell 1). This was a total setback for Dr. Carson, he was always saving others lives but now he was in need for someone to save his life. It felt really awkward to him to be on the opposite side then what he usually was. However with God on his side there was a blessing for him. When reality hit Dr. Carson on how serious his cancer was he decided to scale down his fifteen hour work day to spend more time with his wife and three sons (Howell 4). • 6. Types Of Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) There are several types of bipolar disorders, but the two main types are Bipolar I and Bipolar II. Bipolar I is the definitive type of the bipolar disorder, and the person will constantly go through both the manic and depressive stages of the condition. The length of these episodes will differ from time to time. In Bipolar II, the manic stages are not as severe as Bipolar I; nevertheless, the depressive stages are quite similar (bipolar). But what causes this life altering mental illness? Several factors contribute to the cause of bipolar disorder such as genetics, biology, and environment. It is believed by researchers that there is a genetic susceptibility for bipolar disorder. The existence of irregularity on certain genes is also being investigated by scientists. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), children with a parent or sibling who has bipolar disorder are four to six times more likely to develop the illness, compared with children who do not have a family history of bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder does seem to run in families, but that does not mean that if one has a bipolar parent, that the individual will definitely have this mental condition, or even get it. It is believed by scientists and researchers that it s not just a single gene that is the cause; but rather a number of genes which can be triggered by an individual s environment. In some cases, a person can live their entire life with the gene, and nothing triggers it or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early chemists found that whenever certain chemicals were present in reactions, substances were changed from one form to another. These certain chemicals present in these reactions were named catalysts. These early chemists also found that enzymes were not consumed or altered in the reactions. Enzymes also lower the activation energy in cells causing the reactions to occur at a faster past. In our cells, enzymes are proteins that act as these catalysts. The problem I recognized that Walt had with his Hmong neighbors appeared in the beginning of the movie and was that fact the Walt was a Korean War Veteran, because of this he seemed to have an automatic resentment or dislike against them. Walt did violate many rules or norms, at the barbeque he was confused and frustrated when Thao s family members stared at him, he was later informed by Thao s sister that it was rude to look people directly in the eyes in Hmong culture. Walt also was unaware that in Hmong culture, it is insulting to not accept gifts or help in which is another rule is violated when refusing to accept the gifts and food for saving Thao. The only thing i can do then, is to give up on sleeping. Watch the TV, or anything to get my mind to stop wandering. Ernest Hemingway never fails to make you think deeper thoughts when reading his works. This is the case In Ernest Hemingways a clean well lighted place is a short story about two waiters, and an old, deaf man in a late night cafe. The young waiter is tired and impatiently waiting for the old man to leave so he can go home. The older waiter tries to explain to him why the old man is there at the cafe instead of a bar or bodegas. The short story is a set of dialogs, and within these we learn that some need a safe haven for their despair. Some need a clean and orderly place to contradict the dirty, unorganized mess they have in their head. Hemingway s short story is about loneliness and despair. To start with, the setting of this story takes place in what is most likely Spain. The title plays a big role in the setting. The older waiter is trying to communicate the reason the man is there in the middle of the night, and that is because the cafe is in fact a clean, well lighted place. The lightness and order are the reasons he is there. He could go anywhere else to drink, but he is an old deaf man that is there to get away from the darkness of the night. These range from the domestic servant who must do what the client wants, or fail at the job (pg. 375), the nightclub singer who pleasures her customers by her voice to the colonoscopy artist who allows herself to be probed without anesthesia in a consensual invasion (pg. 378) of her bodily space for the purpose of medical education. Gunshots rang through the air, echoing through the trees; yet the white flag flew high above us. Bullets rained from the sky knocking leaves and needles from the tree limbs and cut perfect circles through our tepees. An infant cried out hidden in the blood of his dead mother. Then, in the shower of deadly metal, a silver raindrop passed through the infant s head and for one fateful second, everything became silent. Yet the rain of death persisted causing even more fatalities. I remember running as fast as my legs could carry me, trying to keep up with the rest of our people while doing my best to hide from the rain of death falling from the heavens. Dehydrated and weak, I could run no further and collapsed in the vast plains with my travois in tow behind me. For the next moon, my brothers and sisters walked in a straight line, following the star that never move. Every day cycled into the same pattern, walking stopping, eating, sleeping, and repeating. Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment Wade Cobb Dr. Boeninger DWC 201 19 October 2015 Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a rational response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments in philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment, thinkers emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on religion that had been previously accepted. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period, Benjamin Franklin is influenced by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in order to establish beliefs based on reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought out and methodological techniques for deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his views on morality and virtue. He was a life long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he put reason as the ultimate factor for knowledge and decision making. Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His parents were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its mark on certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. In my current context, the church has been in existence for twenty years, with no physical church home. Given the history, dwindling membership and financial issues, I would classify this churchas a Restart Church. Restarts are churches that fall into two categories; those that are either failing, or have failed and those that have assessed that restarting or starting over is the only way to invigorate their church plant or ministry in a way that will thrive and become viable. The term restart covers the gamut of churches a majority of which are small, and in a declining phase of ministry or stuck in the mire of inertia with little or no church growth. If you experience a problem with your personal computer and the screen freezes or locks, you just press Alt, Ctrl Delete and your computer will soon restart. Restarting a church process is a very arduous, time consuming process that involves many varying factors that play a part in how long it will take to get moving and become active. This enriching quality in Dante s writing is a major part of why his stories became so influential in history, even in to today s society. His writing also had a major influence on the religion of Christianity, specifically the Catholic Church. At the same time, Christianity had major inspiration on his writing. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One could argue that the idea of hell alone could be a Christian ideal, but this idea belongs to many other religions and is far too broad. Dante describes the inferno as having nine different circles, each with a different level of punishment. The nine different circles do not pertain to Christian literature, however, Luke 12:47 48 does suggest there are different types of punishment. When Virgil and Dante are about to set their quest into the inferno, he tells Dante that he will see and hear the screams of people in their second death. This idea of a second death comes from Revelations 21.8 when it is explained that the the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone (Rev 21:8, KJV). These are the people that inhabit the inferno, derived from Christian judgement and approved by Dante s hell. There are also many biblical characters mentioned while Virgil explains Dante s upcoming quest. Dante mentions the successors of the Apostle Peter (Inferno Canto II 24), St. Paul and his venture into heaven (2 Corinthians 12.2 4, KJV), and of A gracious lady, who sits in heaven grieving, also known as the Virgin Mary (Inferno Canto II 93). Other characters are also addressed such as when Virgil and Dante are approaching the City of Dis when they see, more than a thousand fiendish angels (Inferno Canto VIII 83). These angels are the rebel angels that were cast out of heaven and hurled to the earth (Rev 12:9, KJV) along with Satan in Revelation 12.9. Towards the end of their journey in the inferno, far across the ice, Virgil and Dante see the massive figure of Lucifer. • 37. Examining Four Types of Diversity Essay examples While diversity is often a term used to refer specifically to cultural differences, diversity applies to all the qualities that make people different. From a management perspective, the key to diversity is to understand how different types of diversity and different demographic characteristics can impact human behavior. The four types of diversity that will be examined are: occupation, differences in skills and abilities, personality traits, and value and attitudes. For each type of diversity, the impact on individualbehavior will be described. One type of diversity is occupation. For example, an individual in a professional occupation is more likely to make his or her own decisions and is also more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same employee may have had close relationships with subordinates before they became supervisor. This example shows how occupation impacts behavior and how a change in position can alter individual behavior. The next type of diversity is differences in skills and abilities. One of the most important factors when considering skills and abilities is that individuals will often adapt their behavior so they are making use of what they consider their positive skills and abilities. For example, consider the case of an individual who believes that they have very effective written communication skills but very poor oral communication skills. This individual is likely to adapt his or her behavior so they write as much as possible, while avoiding communicating orally. As a specific example, this individual might prepare memos or write emails as a way of communicating with their employees, instead of having a meeting with employees. This illustrates how people tend to adapt their behavior so they are using their positive qualities, while avoiding having to use their weaker skills and abilities. Another type of diversity is personality traits. Personality traits are defined as recurring patterns of behavior such as friendliness, social dominance, conventionality, emotional adjustment, and aesthetic inclination (Seamon Kenrick, 1994). As this definition shows, personality traits are actually defined because of the observed behavior they result in. The link ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don t say, this has been dependably the case; for in better times it was specifically generally, and a researcher may fill a large portion of his Greek and Roman racks with creators of the noblest birth, and additionally most astounding ethicalness: nor do I assess all countries at present with this deformity, for I know there are some to be excepted, and especially Scotland, under all the detriments of its atmosphere and soil, if that bliss be not rather owing even to those extremely hindrances. • 51. Similarities Between Orwell And The Truman Show Power, the good life and utopia are all connected, without one you can t have another. But what is power, the good life and utopia? And how is each of these topics viewed by different people? Peter Weir; the director of the Truman Show, and George Orwell; the writer of animal farm have almost the same views on each topic and make that clear in their work. In each of these topics it is clear that Weir and Orwell are in agreement. Power is the ability to do something or act in a particular way. But with power comes great responsibility. In the Truman Show, Weir shows how one person s power can be seen as good by some, but bad by others. For example, Kristoff thinks that he is using his power over Truman to make sure he lives the perfect life. Whereas Truman wants to live out his dreams of adventuring and traveling the world, something that Kristoph does not allow using his power over him. There is a conflict of interest, and unfortunately for Trueman, Kristoph unfairly has more control over the end results. Kristoph is in a way responsible with his power although for a different point of view, such as truman s, it would be seen as irresponsible as well as unsympathetic. Likewise, in Animal Farm, Orwell tells us how a group s power can be seen as good by some, but bad by others. One example being the change of rules that the pigs create for the farm, using their power, for their obvious benefit. While some of the animals go along with the change, other tend to dislike or clash with the idea. The pigs are not responsible with their overall power over the animals, leading to the destruction of their original plan of action. In conclusion, both Peter Weir and George Orwell say that where there is power, there is also conflict of interest and much responsibility alongside it. There is also conflict when it comes to the perfect world, being utopia. Utopia is a term given to the concept of a perfect society. Its an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. Meaning it is not possible in reality. In the Truman Show, Weir shows how if one is able to, they will create their idea of Utopia, disregarding others needs and wants for their own. Kristoph created Truman s reality based on his idea of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Aurelian Roman Emperors Essay Beginning with the rise of the Roman Empire, many emperors of differing abilities would rule Rome. Some would become men of great renown in Roman history, such as Trajan, but others were despicable leaders, such as Nero and Caligula. However, all of them changed the course of the Roman Empire, with many of them becoming known for their great accomplishments. One of these emperors was Aurelian. Aurelian was a great military leader, strong emperor, and a strict administrator. Also, unlike most of the emperors, his common birth did not suggest his future destiny with greatness. Aurelian was born in the province of Rome in 214 AD. Unlike prior emperors of Rome, his father was a commoner, and had no ties to politics. Like most commoners did during the time, Aurelian joined the legion. The legion was Rome s version of the army. He quickly showed his military talent and served most of his career as a cavalry commander. His military success led to his first introduction to the politics of Rome. Due to his prowess as a cavalry commander, he became Gallenus escort. Gallienus was the 41st emperor of Rome. However, his service to the emperor didn t last long. Gallienus died at the hands of an assassin while laying siege against the Roman general Claudius. It is reputed that Aurelian may have taken part in the plot. Soon after the emperor s death, Claudius became emperor. During his reign, Aurelian soared through the ranks of the military. Then, in 270 AD, Claudius fell ill to the ...
