The Harlem Renaissance s Influence On People s Views On...
Travel back in time several centuries ago to the 1900 s and imagine how different life would be oil
lamps/candles, outhouses or one toilet shared between several people, movies known as flickers and
lasting no longer than 10 minutes, no television, ice boxes as opposed to refrigerators, baseball being
the main sport that people followed as opposed to football, and unless you were a White male, your
lifestyle was not filled with many opportunities or rights. With slavery being abolished not too long
ago, discrimination and segregation was still widely accepted and practiced. Life was much different
back then. Although people were heavily being judged for the color of their skin, a movement called
the Harlem Renaissance had a major influence on people s views on African Americans across the
United States. The Harlem Renaissance created a new Black cultural identity through literature, music,
theater, art, and politics. One of the leading voices was Langston Hughes, a writer whom wrote
realistic portrayals, both suffering and victories of African American lifestyles through poetry, short
stories, novels, and plays. Through short, effective, and expressive words, Langston Hughes s poetry
promoted African American culture and also addressed the oppression and injustice of African
Americans.
Our story starts from year 1916 to 1970, when more than 6 million African Americans relocated from
the Southern states to the Northern states in an epidemic known as the Great Migration.

The House On Mango Street Summer Assignment
Dillon Afenir Honors Sophomore Comp/Lit 1 September 2016 The House on Mango Street Summer
Assignment 1. Identify an instance where Cisneros uses powerful imagery. Explain the effect of that
imagery upon the reader. Remember that imagery can appeal to any of the senses, including sight,
sound, taste, smell, or touch. Throughout The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros puts plenty of
examples of powerful and meaningful imagery. It helps to contribute to the overall tone and message
the stories are trying to exude. In the vignette A Rice Sandwich Esperanza is sent to the headmaster s
office after trying to get into a lunch line that she wasn t usually in, even when she had a letter from
her mom that she was supposed to be there. The headmaster eventually becomes aware of where she
lives: a rundown, raggedy house in an even worse neighborhood. The headmaster allows Esperanza to
return to the canteen and began to eat. However, she is not welcomed by the other kids and is watched
by lots of boys and girls... while [Esperanza] cried and ate [her] sandwich, the bread greasy and the
rice cold (45). What Cisneros says really targets the visual and auditory senses. When I have read this
vignette, I could visualize her looking out the window of the headmaster s office, having point out her
house, and then only to return to the canteen humiliated just to be looked upon as an unusual creature.
What I also picked up on is the tears and the worst looking sandwich anyone in the canteen

Trigger Point Of Muscle Demographics
Trigger points, also known as trigger sites or muscle knots, are described as hyperirritable spots in
skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fiber. These very
localized areas in muscle tissues and/or their tendinous attachments are often felt as taut bands when
palpated, which elicits pain. A trigger point is a very circumscribed region in which relatively few
motor units seem to be contracting. So it is localized spot of tenderness in a nodule of a palpable taut
band of contractured muscle fibers The exact nature of a trigger point is not known. It has been
suggested that certain nerve endings in the muscle tissues may become sensitized by algogenic
substances that create a localized zone of hypersensitivity

My Teaching Strategy For Students
As I look over my teaching, I do notice many weaknesses, but I do notice some strengths as well.
Even though I gave the students clear instructions, I believe that I should have done the I do, We do,
You do strategy with them to compute the prices, discounts, and markups in the introduction activity. I
also feel that this whole activity, along with the implementation of the I do, We do, You do teaching
strategy, really would have been more effective for the students. I had assumed that their previous
class would have provided them with enough experience to allow them to compute discounts by
themselves, but I do recognize that they needed even more practice with the teacher. One strength that
I do recognize is that I had good voice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I rank my timeliness as something that needs major improvement. If this problem was improved, I
could have more opportunities to assess my students and give them prompt feedback as well. I could
fix this problem by making my activities more simple and shorter, and providing early finishers with
more challenging work depending on their capabilities. For students that finish their work early but
need more remediation, I could pull them to the side and provide one on one instruction to correct
misunderstanding right then.
Examining my teaching, I notice that I was lacking in cooperation among my students. I did ask my
students a few higher order thinking questions, but I monopolized the introduction activity with my
verbal instructions. I did not allow the students to explain how they would go about finishing the task
that I assigned to them. I was more like a dictator rather than letting the students explore and explain
their understanding of the task that I prompted them to complete. Without student cooperation, I am
not aware of what misunderstandings my students have. Additionally, if student cooperation is
lacking, my students could get easily bored and it will be harder to get them back into a learning
mode. Also, I feel that students need to take control of their own learning, and this can be completed
with student cooperation. If I had provided more opportunities for my students to communicate their
understanding, I

The Fact Of The Resurrection Of Jesus
The change of Jesus disciples from a frightened, despondent, frustrated band to the courageous
preachers of Jesus as Messiah and the instrument of salvation was triggered by his resurrection.
It was because God had risen up Jesus that the apostles could perform mighty works.
The Fact of the Resurrection The Gospels corroborate more than a few facts. First, Jesus was dead.
Second, the faiths of the disciples were also gone. A third fact is that the disciples dissuasion and
frustration was swiftly changed into poise and conviction. A fourth fact is the empty tomb which is
witnessed to by all the Gospels and it is taken as fact in Paul s creedal declaration. A fifth historic fact
is the resurrection faith. Belief in the resurrection of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The distinctive conflation of the roles of Servant and Messiah is thus stimulated. Jesus as Messiah
accomplishes the role of the suffering servant.
Jesus has suffered as Messiah, he is now dignified as Messiah, and he need yet come as Messiah to
bring the eschatological conclusion.
The Beginning of the Resurrection
Thus the resurrection of Jesus has certainly brought in a new age, the messianic age while the Age to
come remains in the upcoming. The resurrection of the dead actually remains an event at the last day,
but because of the resurrection of Christ this eschatological event has already begun to unfold. The
early church found itself living in a pull stuck between the already realized and expectation. We are
living in the age of fulfillment but, the day of consummation stands yet in the future.
The Kingdom of God
The dominant subject of Jesus preaching was the Kingdom of God. While this leitmotif is not
characterized as one of the fundamental themes of the first apostolic preaching, it is not altogether
lacking.
While the early disciples refer to the Kingdom of God it is not clear whether the position is to the
eschatological order or not. Now and then the Kingdom of God has become almost a substitute for the

Use Of Setting In Edgar Allen Poe s The Tell-Tale Heart
Analysis of Setting in Tell Tale Heart Edgar Allen Poe uses the literary device setting , to create a dark
tone in his story, The Tell Tale Heart . The story uses about 5 settings: 3 of them are used often, like
Mood and Atmosphere, the Time of Day, and Elapsed Time, while the other two are not common, like
Locale and Population. They help the story a lot by making it spooky. Mood and Atmosphere in this
story uses lighting the most. Evidence of this is when the Madman has his lamp covered in black, so
that he can see what he is doing, but the Old Man cannot. The Old Man s room in the story is pitch
black at night, making it scary when The Madman enters. Also, the Madman hides near Deathwatches,
a beetle that represents death. Time

Joseph Conrad an advocate for political corruption The adventure in the heart of darkness captures
image of the real world and underworld of how moral people can be. A summary of The Heart of
Darkness is that Marlow s is an ivory transporter down the Congo. Through his adventure, Marlow
finds out Kurtz is running a corrupt ivory scam company, and Marlow is shocked upon seeing what
the European corporations have done to the African people. The heart of darkness shows the time
between 1885 to 1908 (A very dark time period), and during this time Joseph wrote about his

Joseph Conrad also blamed the western part of the world (The united states also granted colonial
status to Congo Free State), also playing a role with King Leopold II of Belgium s government for
socio political reasons. A small connection I think can be made from this is the major rubber industry
and automobile industry starting in year 1900 having more to do with this corruption. Like kurtz said
to Marlow this is as necessary for success. The result of this corruption got 10 million Africans

Bonding Creates Structure Of Bonding Essay
Bonding Creates Structure If it wasn t for the time I spent with my parents as a child, I wouldn t be the
man I am today. Bonding is when two share memorable time together. They share a special connection
between one another; they trust one another and see eye to eye. Bonding is when two people enjoy
being around each other and have a relationship. Bonding is a very crucial part of life; it is most
important when you are young. A child needs to bond with its mother and father so he knows who
they are and that they are there for him. No one needs to be alone in this world. They need someone
they can share a connection with. Someone they can trust. I was graceful enough to be able to bond
with both of my parents. It made a huge impact on my life. It makes me very happy and feel
wonderful to know I can always bond with my parents. (Thesis) I share a loving connection with them
because we bonded when I was just a child. In the beginning of my life, my parents were always there
for me when I needed them and we bonded a lot. I love my parents with all my heart. My father Terry
Osburn has been married to my mother Darlene Osburn for a loving 35 years. My father has taught me
many things in life. He is a great man. He will try his best to do anything for me. My mother is

Leadership in Remember the Titans Essay
Remember the Titans
In the movie Remember the Titans , there are many management concepts covered throughout the
movie and he is the agent in the movie. The players on the Titans are the targets of the influence.
Remember the Titans is the perfect movie for Exam 3. It covers many topics that were on the exam,
and this class has given me a different way of looking at the movie. I have seen the movie many times,
but I never looked at it from a management perspective. It now makes sense to me to look at a football
team, or any other type of sports team, from a management point of view.
Coach Herman Boone, who is played by Denzel Washington, is a very influential person. He is a
perfect leader. While it cannot be found out for sure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their opponents do not score against them often in the movie.
In the movie, Coach Boone is a master motivator. He does an excellent job of energizing his players,
sustaining the motivation, directing the motivation to the right players at the right time, and also
knowing when to stop motivating. The satisfaction progression hypothesis is also displayed in the
movie. Coach Boone knows that the small things, such as making the routine plays in the game, must
be done first before the main goal can be achieved, winning the game. He also has a high expectancy
of his team. He believes that the effort of his team will lead to performance and that the performance
will lead to results. He expects his team to practice just as hard as they play in the game. Julius
Campbell and Gary Bertier, the two main characters on the team, are also excellent motivators. They
get their teammates pumped up before and during the game.
As with most sports teams, the Titans have an autocratic leadership style. Coach Boone is the one and
only person who makes the decisions, he is the main man in charge. The style is productive, and the
team wins games. Although he has assistant coaches, such as Bill Yoast who is the defensive
coordinator, all the decisions must go through Coach Boone first. The democratic leadership style is
not applicable on a football team because that s why teams have coaches. The team does not make
group decisions. Coach Boone also uses Job Enlargement in Remember the

CONTROL PARADIGM
This move toward abstinence, sobriety, moderation, and puritanical thoughts about sex is more than a
trend. It s a practical program that expands the limits of law enforcement, the authority of employers,
and ultimately its own parameters. Big Brother IS looking over your shoulder. Across American
society one sees effort after effort to restore social cohesion, re assert authority, and basically get a
grip on the energies that have been unleashed over the past quarter century. Universities are re
imposing curfews as well as rules on cohabitation, unsupervised parties, fraternity hazing, and sexual
conduct. Legislatures across the country are controlling Internet smut, tobacco advertising, and
labeling violent TV programming, video games, and rock and rap lyrics as bad. Cities across the
nation have imposed controls on panhandling, vagrancy, public drinking, and littering. Community
policing programs have given law enforcement more day to day authority in high crimeareas. Cameras
and scanners are everywhere. Are these the benign acts of a civilized society, or have the authorities
taken their powers too far? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It usually begins with an actual problem, for example, teen pregnancy or the real dangers of drugs, but
while an obvious response might be sex and drug education (and not the lies perpetrated by programs
such as DARE), or birth control and teaching safe drinking habits. Instead, we are told that the best
way to solve teen pregnancy is abstinence (which instills guilt about sexual activity), or that the best
way to curb drug use is to scare people and to lie to them. Real healthproblems, such as AIDS and
STDs become the occasion for wholesale sexual purges, and real problems with drugs are couched in
an abuse paradigm, as if to do drugs means only to ABUSE them, and to talk about safe drug use is
profane. Something else is going

The Production of Sesame in Ethiopia Essay examples
Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.), is probably the most ancient oilseed known and used by man (Weiss,
1983). The cultivated sesame belongs to order Tubiflorae, family Pedaliaceae; about thirty seven
species have been described in to the genus sesamum, but only Sesamum indicum has been
recognized as a cultivated species (Getinet et al. 1998). Even though the origin of sesame is still in
debate, Mehra (1967) and Mahajan (2007) considered Ethiopia as the origin of cultivated sesame.
Bedigian (1981) argues that, owing to the wide genetic diversity in East Africa (Ethiopia), it is
reasonable to assume that this subcontinent is the primary center of origin and India would then be
thought of as a secondary center for sesame. Sesame seed, also known as ... Show more content on

Sesame can fit well with other summer annuals in a crop rotation, but may be sensitive to some soil
persistent herbicides. Sesame reportedly can provide some improvement in soil tilth or structure due to
extensive rooting. Sesame must also be planted shallow, depth of planting varies with soil type and
soil moisture from 3 to 5 cm under row planting 10cm and 40cm between plants and rows is
recommended respectively. Uniform depth and seed rate are essential for good stand establishment
resulting in maximum yield (Geremew et al., 2012).
In Ethiopia, sesame grows well in the lowlands either as sole crop or intercropped with millet or
sorghum (Mesfin et al., 2004). Sesame is very drought tolerant it has been called a survivor crop, with
an ability to grow where most crops fail. It has a significant role to the Ethiopian economy as it is used
for local uses (local oil extraction, soups and mixed with sugar), export market and as a source of
employment opportunity. Ethiopia has high quality sesame seed cultivars suitable for wide range
applications, in particular the Humera type sesame is appreciated worldwide for its aroma and sweet
taste (Wijnands et al., 2009).

Mythology In Japanese Mythology
Ancient civilizations have used various tactics, such as pictographs or writing systems, to document
important events. However, only few civilizations have actually used mythology to write about the
truth , one of them being the people of the ancient Japanese civilization. The truth is a representation
of how each civilization views the beginning of the world and how it affects the civilization today.
Although some parts of mythology seem outrageous and clearly not based on scientific fact, there are
evidences that prove some events mentioned within mythologies have actually happened seen in
present day Japan. Japanese mythologies have incorporated historical truth into their mythologies.
This is important because understanding the past allows for cultural development in the future. Chris
Kincaid, an accredited blogger on the Japan Powered website, states: Like all mythology, it was
considered factually true and Truth through most of history (1). This means that the purpose of the
mythologies, such as the Kojiki and Nihongi, was to report factual evidence while speculating how the
world came to be. The use of mythology was a mechanism used as a means to engage the common
man and help come up with explanations to things that were not proven by scientific fact. As long as
the essential focus is on the recording of the political policies of the mythologies, then everything
begins to align because of the apparent effects and evidences in the present day Japan. By connecting

Muscular Contributions And Hip And Knee Extension During...
The article Muscular contributions to hip and knee extension during the single limb stance phase of
normal gait: a Theoretical Framework for Crouch Gait by Allison Arnold, Frank Anderson, Marcus
Pandy, and Scott Delp investigates the biomechanics of normal gait in hopes to uncover ideas to help
determine treatments for crouch gait. Crouch gait is a bothersome abnormality that affects the gait
pattern of people who suffer from the condition of cerebral palsy. It s characterized by excessive
flexion of the hips and knees during standing and excessive use of metabolic energy to complete a
single gait cycle. Currently, the treatments for this condition are limited and have unpredictable
outcomes due to the unknown biomechanical causes of the excessive flexion in crouch gait. These
treatments include surgical lengthening of hamstrings, ankle foot orthoses, and intense stretching
regimens, with patients experiencing results ranging from no improvement in their symptoms to
dramatic improvements. The vast array of results from treatments are due to the little understanding
medical professionals have of not only abnormal gait patterns (such as crouch gait) but of normal gait
as well (Arnold, Anderson, Pandy, and Delp, 2005). Despite the article s title relating to crouch gait,
the purpose of the study conducted was to examine and quantify the accelerations of normal hip and
knee movements that were induced by specific muscles during the single limb stance phase and to

Ebola virus disease (EBV), or just Ebola, is an acute, often fatal illness, with a case fatality rate of up

with an unusual, variable length, branched morphology. The helical capsid is enclosed inside a

Filoviridae family. There are 5 known subtypes of Ebola. The infection is transmitted by direct contact
with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected animals or people. The current hypothesis is that
fruit bats are the original host of the virus. Ebola was introduced into the human population through

The virus also inhibits interferon which is a molecule that cells make use of to further retard viral
reproduction.
The exact process what happens next is not fully known but the virus attacks the connective tissue and
reproduces at an extremely fast rate in the collagen, digesting the tissue as it goes. The virus can
ultimately cause viral hemorrhagic fever. When the macrophages in our body register the virus and
consume it, they end up becoming infected and are manipulated to release proteins that trigger
coagulation create small clots in the blood. This leads to the blood slowly thickening and therefore a
decreased blood flow. As the clots begin to get stuck in the blood vessels, the patient begins to exhibit
red spots on the skin the rash. As the disease progresses, these clots and their spots increase in size.
Another more serious effect of the Ebola virus s clotting factor is the decreased blood supply to the
vital areas of the body such as the liver, brain, kidneys, lungs, intestines, testicles and extremities
ultimately causing a multi organ failure or septic shock.
The macrophages also produce other inflammatory signalling proteins and nitric oxide, which damage
the lining of blood vessels, causing them to leak and sometimes burst. The content leaks out, and the
damage and presence of the virus particles activates

Film Production Industry And Its Recording Process
Describe Innovation Targets
The major objective of the innovation is to target and address the sluggish and superfluous technique
of the existing feature film production industry and its recording process. The plan suggests methods
reduce the time spent in the recording of the images during the process of filming a feature film
production. The innovation will be made using multiple cameras recording through new technologies
in advanced camera resolution and camera size (Steyn, 2013). The scope of the problem lies for the
whole feature film industry as this slow process of filming affects the whole industry. When new
technology will be introduced in the filming production industry then the development of pictures will
become a more advanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If proper resolution cameras are not used while shooting a video than the quality of picture degrades
and it may not be possible to take a shot in a single instance. With the use of multiple high resolution
cameras with greater size in megapixels, the capturing of video will be easy. This innovation will
include placing the cameras at different angles and then videoing the film. When different cameras of
high resolution and big size picture will be placed at different angles, the video will be made from all
possible angles (Mansurov, 2015). Thus, no more retakes will be required in shooting the film. This
will make the process of filming a movie faster and will reduce the overall cost and time of film
production. Thus, the slower and tedious process of a film production will improve to a better and
faster process. By reducing the cost of production this innovation will meet the needs of all the
stakeholders involved in it. Further, the filming industry studios which are the organizations for
developing a film will get a positive hike in profits. This will fulfill their need of earning more and
more profit in their business. In addition to reducing the cost, the theater owners will get the advantage
of reducing the cost of renting the motion pictures for presentation. This will help them increase their
business and will fulfill their needs. The investors of the film production will get their

Hegel s Master-Slave Dialectic Essay
As presented in the Phenomenology of Spirit, the aim of Life is to free itself from confinement in
itself and to become for itself. Not only does Hegel place this unfolding of Life at the very beginning
of the dialectical development of self consciousness, but he characterizes self consciousness itself as a
form of Life and points to the advancement of self consciousness in the Master/Slave dialectic as the
development of Life becoming for itself. This paper seeks to delineate this often overlooked thread of
dialectical insight as it unfolds in the Master/Slave dialectic. Hegel articulates a vision of the place of
human self consciousness in the process of Life as a whole and throws light on the role of death as an

Much attention has been paid to the notion of Recognition in the Master Slave dialectic. However, the
beginning of the path towards true recognition is marked itself by the recognition of finitude or death.
The very freedom from embeddedness in natural origins of which self consciousness is capable is
intimately tied to its confrontation with the absolute Master, death. In this dialectical move, Hegel has
articulated one of the most profound and paradoxical truths of human existence, namely that an
awareness of death and finitude is the inception of man s potential differentiation of self from his
natural origins and the beginning of man s self consciousness. Not only that: by the cunning of reason
man s mortality is the vehicle through which natural Life redeems itself from its incarceration in itself.
Thus, the very actualization of man s differentiation of self from nature which takes place in work is,
as I shall show, a kind of internalization and transformation of that very finitude. Only as such, can
self consciousness realize its true self.
In the stages leading up to self consciousness, consciousness placed the locus of truth into that which
it took to be other than itself. The particular and immediate being of the

Casino Gambling Argumentative Essay
I don t gamble because winning a hundred dollars doesn t give me great pleasure, But losing a
hundred dollars pisses me off (Alex Trebek). I am here to tell you why Casino Gambling is such a big
problem in this country and why it should be stopped. How does not just affect people in a way that
can destroy any type of life they have built up, to how it hurts the people that just love around casinos
The interesting thing about this is that Gambling was illegal until around the 80 s. Today, casino
gambling is legal in 23 states. Of those states most of these casinos aren t the Grand Style Las Vegas
casinos where people can stay the night and see a show. They are small where the only form of
entertainment is throwing your money away. (Frum,2013) Due to this, it is really easy for someone to

This statement is false. In 1978 New Jersey allowed Atlantic City to build up casinos to help revive
their fading economy. At first, there was a little raise in the economy and more jobs were being

that goes into a casino, stays in a casino. The rest of the profits that go into taxes are spent on helping
the community after the negative side effects of creating a casino. (Newburger, 2009) According to the
National Association of Realtors, communities within 10 miles of a casino show double the rate of
crime, poverty, and other financial distress. In research done by Ph.D Harriet Newburger, in 1999 the
city s poverty rate was 23.6% compared to the national average of 11.3%. It was 12.9% in 2005 while
the national average was 5.8%. Even now, the rate is still higher that the rate was in 1978 when

The Negatives of Surrogate Mothering Essay
In the U.S. surrogacy is less regulated than used car sales (Humphreys). Surrogate mothering has been
around for many years, and is becoming even more publically common in today s society. The most
technical way to describe a full surrogate transaction would be as follows, the implanting of an
embryo created using either the eggs and sperm or both of the intended parents... (Arnold). This in
turn would mean that the carrying mother would have no genetic connection with the child. This also
allows the parents of the child being carried have full genetic connection to the child, making the
whole family unit that much stronger. Surrogate mothering is a gateway for couples that wish to have

Just as adoption is on the rise of popularity, surrogate mothering is staking its claim on society. Just as
most every adoption transaction is monitored by agencies, which are set up by the government,
surrogacy is also going to require governmental involvement. Surrogate mothering should be
regulated because of the physical and emotional toll it on the birth mother, the lack of science behind
the procedure, and the future of the child. With restrictions and monitoring, this program would be
safer for the surrogate mother, and also the receiving couple, but most importantly the child or
children that are involved. The child should always come first, and to assure its safety, more programs
or agencies, should be set up to guild the couple and the surrogate mother throughout the whole
process. Setting restrictions on these transactions would make it more equal and fair, but also easier to
do. By the establishment of these restrictions and guild line agencies, than the liability issues could be
subsided, and the incase of a fall out with the persons involved, the agency and governmental
involvement would insure the best possible solution for any issue that might be presented throughout
the course of the pregnancy. One of the most unpredictable aspects of surrogate mothering would be
the dependency of the surrogate mother herself. Though the child

Povidone Iodine And Antiseptics
The importance of choosing the right antiseptic for an invasive procedure should not be

It would have been helpful if Drake had explained to the reader why Pluto is not called a planet
anymore. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) gave a new definition of the word planet.
Pluto, as we know it, didn t fit the definition of planet anymore. Both planets and dwarf planets must
orbit the sun and be massive enough for their gravity to have pulled them into spherical or nearly
spherical shapes. Pluto has not cleared away many chunks of icy and rocky debris from their orbital
vicinities. (Britannica pg. 76). The author could also have included that what we know about Pluto s
size is because of an unmanned space probe that was launched in 2006. This is the same year that
Pluto was redefined. The temperature of Pluto is more accurate. We know that it is far away from the
sun and therefore, Pluto must be cold. Because it is the farthest planet from Earth, we don t know
much about Pluto. Its distance from Earth also makes taking images really hard. This same distance
even makes using a telescope difficult. The New Horizons spacecraft will be sent to Pluto on July 14,

The New Negro Of The Harlem Renaissance
The New Negro Movement, also known as The Harlem Renaissance, was a time in the early twentieth
century where African Americans embraced literature, music, theatre, and visual arts (Alchin). They
were inspired and gave inspiration to many blacks in the community. The Great Migration was the
beginning of the Harlem Renaissance it is, where it began the most significant movement in the black
history. After World War I, more than six million African Americans traveled from the rural South to
the cities of the North, Midwest, and West to achieve economic and social benefit, and a new home in
Harlem, New York City (History.com Staff). It has been a synonym for being a center of culture,
intelligence, and fashion (Harlem). That exact time period gave black people opportunity to grow, to
prosper, and to express. Through art, they have shown the value of life, even though there was brutal
racism, injustice in black identity, and slavery. This is a movement in the black culture to show that
they are just more than the color of their skin.
The Harlem Renaissance started after World War I. Northern factories had a huge demand for workers;
southern blacks took this opportunity to leave the oppressive economic conditions in the South (Great
Migration). Most of them resided in Harlem, New York City. Artists in this movement had either

The Police Officer Bill Of Rights
Abstract
It is crucial that administrators develop safeguards to ensure that internal investigations are conducted
fairly and ethically, demonstrating the best interest of both the officer and its employers. This paper
discusses the Police Officer Bill of Rights created by a subcommittee created by the Legislative
Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the importance of it being
implemented and standardized across the United States.
The Amendments found in the United States Constitution contain several provisions to protect citizens
from various infringements from the government. These provisions have greatly influenced what law
enforcement is today. Due to the power of a law enforcement official, the public expects officers to be
held to a higher ethical standard. Part of that expectation entails that officers will follow in the law and
lead by example. Unfortunately, no one is perfect and departments will always have those law
enforcement officers who stray from what is right and act questionably on and off duty. To ensure that
officers are being held accountable for their actions, departments will employ their own Internal
Investigation division to help identify, discipline, and/or remove employees found guilty of
misconduct. Therefore, it is important that administrators develop safeguards to ensure that internal
investigations are conducted fairly and ethically, demonstrating the best interest of both the

Jean Paul Lawrence Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development
Introduction The conscience of children is formed by the influences that surround them; their notions
of good and evil are a result of the moral atmosphere they breathe Jean Paul Lawrence Kohlberg (the
pioneer of the second major perspective on moral development) proposed that moral reasoning is
developed when people pass through three levels which comprise of two stages each as they grow
older. He investigated the nature of moral thought by interacting with children, presenting them with a
story in which moral dilemmas were faced by the characters in the story. This is what led to the birth
of his theory of moral development. This essay therefore seeks to practically apply Kohlberg s thesis

Kohlberg on Moral Development A professor at Harvard University developed a theory of moral
development which incorporated the thinking of a Swiss psychologist named Jean Piaget and an
American philosopher named John Dewey (Barger, 2000). The professor went by the name Lawrence
Kohlberg. Kohlberg mainly used Piaget s theory of moral development as the foundation to develop
these ideas further (Piaget, 1932). He incorporated the method of telling a story that presents a
dilemma that Piaget came up with, which would give people options for them to choose what they
would feel is right choice (Kohlberg, 1958). Kohlberg (1984) presented the dilemmas as moral
dilemmas, and the way an individual reasoned the dilemma would determine the stage (with regards to
moral development) in which he would classify them. Kohlberg used the reasons that the individuals
gave as a way to see how moral reasoning changed as people grow

Happiness Is A Long And Confusing One
The journey to find true happiness is a long and confusing one. Many people have sought the answer
to the question of what is true happiness, but have found a different answer every time. The idea of
happiness is what is so addicting to the human race, even if they have no idea how to get it or where to
find it. Happiness becomes something that seems almost impossible to get as we live, because as we
search for it we try to find it in the things other people tell us it is. What this does is begins to warp
what we know true happiness is; However, the moments in life when we are at our lowest and

In the case of accepting the terms of the transaction, Kraft intends to issue 265 million new shares, or

the acquisition of Cadbury, as this would allow the American company to expand its confectionery
business to more effectively compete with Mars. On the other hand, the head of an investment holding
company Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett, the largest shareholder of Kraft Foods, marked that he
felt poor because of this purchase (Chu 2010). He considers the sum of $19.3 billion too high, and the
whole deal unsuccessful. Kraft Foods welcomed the entry of Cadbury staff into the family of
employees of American companies. However, Cadbury workers do not expect anything well from this

The Problem Posing By Paulo Freire
Classroom experiences are like polyatomic ions: some are positive while others are negative. While
the majority of the experiences at the West Genesee School District have been positive, I can recollect
one experience that was particularly negative. During the duration of my Advanced Placement global
history course, I was the subject in a class, that, by definition, would be closer to the problem posing
classroom that Paulo Freire describes in his piece The Banking Concept of Education . In his works,
Paulo Freire asserts that the problem posing education makes them [the students] critical thinkers
(Freire 221). As Freire describes, a class that implements the problem posing policy is one in which
students are to become critical thinkers. Freire would have been ecstatic that other educators carried
out his ideas in their own problem posing classroom. My teacher me made it unequivocal that this
class was going to challenge the way we analyzed and understood history. The teacher continued to
describe the role of the student in the classroom; the educator expected the pupil to analyze readings
and argue about what the pupil deemed to be the most important concepts presented. Regardless of the

Lee let the world know about his philosophies and beliefs. He tried to make the world a better place.
He tried to change the way people view Asian Americans through his acting (playing as a martial

Letter From Birmingham Jail Act
In April 1963, the city of Birmingham, Alabama, was caught in the midst of massive civil rights
protests. Protestors advocating for desegregation brought the city to a halt with widespread disruptive
yet peaceful protests. After a circuit court placed an injunction against protesting, parading and
picketing King was arrested for his involvement. While in jail King received a letter written by eight
Alabama clergymen criticizing King for his disruptive protests and the breaking of laws which lead to
his arrest. In response King wrote an open letter explaining his actions that would be known as Letter
from Birmingham Jail . In his letter Dr. King effectively addresses an unsympathetic audience by
focusing on building his credibility rather than seeking an emotional response.
The largest challenge Dr. King faced in writing his response was that his audience did not respect him.
As a result of the laws he devoted himself to protest, Dr. King was a second class citizen. To the white
clergymen he was addressing he was both socially and legally inferior. The feeling of supremacy that
the clergymen, and many other whites, had toward blacks at the time made them largely
unsympathetic to their plight. To avoid appearing pitiful or even pathetic he maintains a calm and
authoritative tone. Even though the clergymen were harshly critical of his activities and methods King
responds in a collected manner I feel that [...] your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I want to try to

Statistics Experiment Essay
Statistics Experiment
For my maths coursework I will be conducting an investigation into statistics. I had a choice for this
coursework of both statistics on year 10 to 11 school children, and facts about them and also their
likes in terms of sport and subjects at school. I chose not to do this project on that information; instead
I chose data on 100 different cars, the reason for this is that I like cars more and may perhaps pursue it
as a career. I did not want to do a project on data that I have no interest in.
The 100 different cars have data under the following headings, Car number in order from 1 to 100, the
make of the car, the price when new of the car, the current second hand price, ... Show more content

For my coursework I will be hopefully conducting a total of 3 different investigations into this survey,
though this may change to 2 or 4. My aim is to look for a correlation in the separate investigations and
perhaps if I can draw any conclusions or maybe find a formula or prediction for a particular
investigation that will work for all or most cars. E.g. if from mileage, price when new and age I can
calculate the current second hand price.
My investigation will be:
The frequency of mileage in my sample, if there is a relationship between the second hand price and
age of a car, and finally if there is relationship between the age and percentage loss of a car.
I will be taking a sample of 20 cars; I will take every 5th car in the database. I will show the data in
terms of tables, a tally chart, and by way of bar, and scatter graphs with a line of best fit if applicable.
To improve my investigation I will take a sample of 5 cars, which will not be included in my final
investigation, but this 5 car sample is to test my investigation techniques, and to allow me to foresee
and problems and practise in investigating statistics.
I will not be able to take all 100 cars and will have to do my investigations on different samples of the
survey, I hope to take 1/5 of the cars, and I will do my investigations on 20 cars. I

Bob Marley, By Robert Nesta Marley
Robert Nesta Marley, commonly known as Bob Marley , was born on February 6, 1945 in St. Ann s,
Jamaica. Marley was son of a white man named Norval Marley and black lady named Cedilla Marley
Boker. Due to Marley being mixed he was always rejected growing up (MacDonald). Many people
disliked him due to his rastafarian ways of life. Bob Marley has differing views, society s naive
perception that all he does is smoke marijuana and what is really true he was an inspirational musician
that wanted to unite the world. As commonly known Bob Marley was a rastafarian, being a rastafarian
and having dread locks meant that one voweled not to brush or cut their hair. Bob Marley took his
dreadlocks as his identity. Also being a rastafarian meant living a certain way, the way one ate, treated
other people, and smoking marijuana was part of their religion not just to get high. In the Marley
Documentary, Bob Marley says Christ promised to mankind that him will return within 2000 years
and when him return him will be the king of kings through the lineage of king Solomon and king
David now we look there to see who is this one man , Haile Selassie I stating that they believed the
Emperor of Ethiopia was Christ returning. Rastafari was also taken from his name, he was called Ras
Tafari (MacDonald). Bob Marley s music career started off with the Wailing Wailers (Bob Marley
Biography). As the group was becoming popular they began to struggle financially, which caused the
group to fade away.

Different Types of Competition
Pure Competition: Pure competition involves number of companies or firms manufacturing similar or
identical goods. In such pure competition the firms have no control over the prices. These companies
are often termed as Price Takers . The pricing strategy is no in hands of the company it is determined
by market forces. The firms operating in a pure competition manufacture standardized products which
do not offer them a chance to differentiate their products on the basis of some unique feature of the
product. The firms also do not spend on advertising their products because of the standardized nature
of the products the firms manufacture. The demand of the products in pure competition is perfectly
elastic. This principle maximizes the productivity by efficiently allocating the resources in the right
areas. The firms do not have any market power as they have no or very little impact on the overall
market structure. In order for a firm to maximize the profits the pricing strategy that is used is cost
plus pricing where the firm charges the consumer for the cost and the per unit profit that they like to
charge on the basis on the basis of market analysis. (Akerlof, 1970) The pricing strategy does not play
an integral role in the development of the business in pure competition therefore other strategies
contribute more to the success of a company. The firm has to spend heavily on research and
technology in order to lower their costs than their competitors. In this way the

Comparison of the Opening Sequences of Two Different Versions of Romeo and Juilet The objective
of this essay is to compare two different film adaptations of William Shakespeare s Romeo Juilet.
Franco Zefferelli directed the first rendition of this play in 1968. This was the more conventional,
traditional version of the play. It was slow, peaceful, and in my opinion, how Shakespeare would ve
wanted it. Despite it being old, it was a beautiful interpretation of Shakespeare s tragic love story.
Here, Leonard Whiting played Romeo and Olivia Hussey played Juilet. The whole cast were kitted out
in lifelike, accurate costumes, the settings and props were extremely realistic and in general, the film

After these scenes, the prologue is spoken, while the camera pans across the landscape of the
imaginary Verona city. The narrator s voice is soothing and evocative, which again makes the audience
feel at peace. Following the reading of the prologue, the camera quickly goes down to the market
scene. Here, the atmosphere changes. The contrast here is noticeable, as it goes from a peaceful
landscape scene, to the hustle and bustle of the market. This gives the audience an idea of things to
come. The scene starts with the Capulets merrily walking along, joking, and on the whole, being very
light hearted. Next, the camera focuses on the Montagues, who are portrayed as being a lot more
serious Dark clothes, no jokes, then, after some puzzling literature, a big fight breaks out between the
two rivals. Here, the audience can identify with the characters, as there are some pretty good close ups
of the characters faces, which show strong emotions fear (Benvolio), hatred (Tybalt). The slow build
up also helps the audience to identify with the characters. The Luhrmann version opens with the
prologue being read by a newsreader on a miniscule television screen. This immediately suggests to
the audience that the film is going to be situated in the 20th century. This also tells the audience that
this whole affair is a big event the main fact being that it s a

  • 2. The Harlem Renaissance s Influence On People s Views On... Travel back in time several centuries ago to the 1900 s and imagine how different life would be oil lamps/candles, outhouses or one toilet shared between several people, movies known as flickers and lasting no longer than 10 minutes, no television, ice boxes as opposed to refrigerators, baseball being the main sport that people followed as opposed to football, and unless you were a White male, your lifestyle was not filled with many opportunities or rights. With slavery being abolished not too long ago, discrimination and segregation was still widely accepted and practiced. Life was much different back then. Although people were heavily being judged for the color of their skin, a movement called the Harlem Renaissance had a major influence on people s views on African Americans across the United States. The Harlem Renaissance created a new Black cultural identity through literature, music, theater, art, and politics. One of the leading voices was Langston Hughes, a writer whom wrote realistic portrayals, both suffering and victories of African American lifestyles through poetry, short stories, novels, and plays. Through short, effective, and expressive words, Langston Hughes s poetry promoted African American culture and also addressed the oppression and injustice of African Americans. Our story starts from year 1916 to 1970, when more than 6 million African Americans relocated from the Southern states to the Northern states in an epidemic known as the Great Migration. ... • 3. The House On Mango Street Summer Assignment Dillon Afenir Honors Sophomore Comp/Lit 1 September 2016 The House on Mango Street Summer Assignment 1. Identify an instance where Cisneros uses powerful imagery. Explain the effect of that imagery upon the reader. Remember that imagery can appeal to any of the senses, including sight, sound, taste, smell, or touch. Throughout The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros puts plenty of examples of powerful and meaningful imagery. It helps to contribute to the overall tone and message the stories are trying to exude. In the vignette A Rice Sandwich Esperanza is sent to the headmaster s office after trying to get into a lunch line that she wasn t usually in, even when she had a letter from her mom that she was supposed to be there. The headmaster eventually becomes aware of where she lives: a rundown, raggedy house in an even worse neighborhood. The headmaster allows Esperanza to return to the canteen and began to eat. However, she is not welcomed by the other kids and is watched by lots of boys and girls... while [Esperanza] cried and ate [her] sandwich, the bread greasy and the rice cold (45). What Cisneros says really targets the visual and auditory senses. When I have read this vignette, I could visualize her looking out the window of the headmaster s office, having point out her house, and then only to return to the canteen humiliated just to be looked upon as an unusual creature. What I also picked up on is the tears and the worst looking sandwich anyone in the canteen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trigger Point Of Muscle Demographics Trigger points, also known as trigger sites or muscle knots, are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fiber. These very localized areas in muscle tissues and/or their tendinous attachments are often felt as taut bands when palpated, which elicits pain. A trigger point is a very circumscribed region in which relatively few motor units seem to be contracting. So it is localized spot of tenderness in a nodule of a palpable taut band of contractured muscle fibers The exact nature of a trigger point is not known. I also feel that this whole activity, along with the implementation of the I do, We do, You do teaching strategy, really would have been more effective for the students. If this problem was improved, I could have more opportunities to assess my students and give them prompt feedback as well. I could fix this problem by making my activities more simple and shorter, and providing early finishers with more challenging work depending on their capabilities. For students that finish their work early but need more remediation, I could pull them to the side and provide one on one instruction to correct misunderstanding right then. Examining my teaching, I notice that I was lacking in cooperation among my students. I did ask my students a few higher order thinking questions, but I monopolized the introduction activity with my verbal instructions. I did not allow the students to explain how they would go about finishing the task that I assigned to them. I was more like a dictator rather than letting the students explore and explain their understanding of the task that I prompted them to complete. Without student cooperation, I am not aware of what misunderstandings my students have. Additionally, if student cooperation is lacking, my students could get easily bored and it will be harder to get them back into a learning mode. Also, I feel that students need to take control of their own learning, and this can be completed with student cooperation. It was because God had risen up Jesus that the apostles could perform mighty works. The Fact of the Resurrection The Gospels corroborate more than a few facts. First, Jesus was dead. Second, the faiths of the disciples were also gone. A third fact is that the disciples dissuasion and frustration was swiftly changed into poise and conviction. The satisfaction progression hypothesis is also displayed in the movie. Coach Boone knows that the small things, such as making the routine plays in the game, must be done first before the main goal can be achieved, winning the game. He also has a high expectancy of his team. He believes that the effort of his team will lead to performance and that the performance will lead to results. However, only few civilizations have actually used mythology to write about the truth , one of them being the people of the ancient Japanese civilization. The truth is a representation of how each civilization views the beginning of the world and how it affects the civilization today. Although some parts of mythology seem outrageous and clearly not based on scientific fact, there are evidences that prove some events mentioned within mythologies have actually happened seen in present day Japan. Japanese mythologies have incorporated historical truth into their mythologies. This is important because understanding the past allows for cultural development in the future. Chris Kincaid, an accredited blogger on the Japan Powered website, states: Like all mythology, it was considered factually true and Truth through most of history (1). This means that the purpose of the mythologies, such as the Kojiki and Nihongi, was to report factual evidence while speculating how the world came to be. The use of mythology was a mechanism used as a means to engage the common man and help come up with explanations to things that were not proven by scientific fact. The article Muscular contributions to hip and knee extension during the single limb stance phase of normal gait: a Theoretical Framework for Crouch Gait by Allison Arnold, Frank Anderson, Marcus Pandy, and Scott Delp investigates the biomechanics of normal gait in hopes to uncover ideas to help determine treatments for crouch gait. Crouch gait is a bothersome abnormality that affects the gait pattern of people who suffer from the condition of cerebral palsy. It s characterized by excessive flexion of the hips and knees during standing and excessive use of metabolic energy to complete a single gait cycle. Currently, the treatments for this condition are limited and have unpredictable outcomes due to the unknown biomechanical causes of the excessive flexion in crouch gait. These treatments include surgical lengthening of hamstrings, ankle foot orthoses, and intense stretching regimens, with patients experiencing results ranging from no improvement in their symptoms to dramatic improvements. The vast array of results from treatments are due to the little understanding medical professionals have of not only abnormal gait patterns (such as crouch gait) but of normal gait as well (Arnold, Anderson, Pandy, and Delp, 2005). The innovation will be made using multiple cameras recording through new technologies in advanced camera resolution and camera size (Steyn, 2013). If proper resolution cameras are not used while shooting a video than the quality of picture degrades and it may not be possible to take a shot in a single instance. With the use of multiple high resolution cameras with greater size in megapixels, the capturing of video will be easy. This innovation will include placing the cameras at different angles and then videoing the film. When different cameras of high resolution and big size picture will be placed at different angles, the video will be made from all possible angles (Mansurov, 2015). Thus, no more retakes will be required in shooting the film. This will make the process of filming a movie faster and will reduce the overall cost and time of film production. • 23. Hegel s Master-Slave Dialectic Essay As presented in the Phenomenology of Spirit, the aim of Life is to free itself from confinement in itself and to become for itself. Not only does Hegel place this unfolding of Life at the very beginning of the dialectical development of self consciousness, but he characterizes self consciousness itself as a form of Life and points to the advancement of self consciousness in the Master/Slave dialectic as the development of Life becoming for itself. This paper seeks to delineate this often overlooked thread of dialectical insight as it unfolds in the Master/Slave dialectic. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much attention has been paid to the notion of Recognition in the Master Slave dialectic. However, the beginning of the path towards true recognition is marked itself by the recognition of finitude or death. The very freedom from embeddedness in natural origins of which self consciousness is capable is intimately tied to its confrontation with the absolute Master, death. In this dialectical move, Hegel has articulated one of the most profound and paradoxical truths of human existence, namely that an awareness of death and finitude is the inception of man s potential differentiation of self from his natural origins and the beginning of man s self consciousness. Not only that: by the cunning of reason man s mortality is the vehicle through which natural Life redeems itself from its incarceration in itself. Thus, the very actualization of man s differentiation of self from nature which takes place in work is, as I shall show, a kind of internalization and transformation of that very finitude. Only as such, can self consciousness realize its true self. In the stages leading up to self consciousness, consciousness placed the locus of truth into that which it took to be other than itself. The Police Officer Bill Of Rights Abstract It is crucial that administrators develop safeguards to ensure that internal investigations are conducted fairly and ethically, demonstrating the best interest of both the officer and its employers. This paper discusses the Police Officer Bill of Rights created by a subcommittee created by the Legislative Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the importance of it being implemented and standardized across the United States. The Amendments found in the United States Constitution contain several provisions to protect citizens from various infringements from the government. These provisions have greatly influenced what law enforcement is today. Due to the power of a law enforcement official, the public expects officers to be held to a higher ethical standard. Part of that expectation entails that officers will follow in the law and lead by example. Unfortunately, no one is perfect and departments will always have those law enforcement officers who stray from what is right and act questionably on and off duty. To ensure that officers are being held accountable for their actions, departments will employ their own Internal Investigation division to help identify, discipline, and/or remove employees found guilty of misconduct. • 44. Letter From Birmingham Jail Act In April 1963, the city of Birmingham, Alabama, was caught in the midst of massive civil rights protests. Protestors advocating for desegregation brought the city to a halt with widespread disruptive yet peaceful protests. After a circuit court placed an injunction against protesting, parading and picketing King was arrested for his involvement. While in jail King received a letter written by eight Alabama clergymen criticizing King for his disruptive protests and the breaking of laws which lead to his arrest. In response King wrote an open letter explaining his actions that would be known as Letter from Birmingham Jail . In his letter Dr. King effectively addresses an unsympathetic audience by focusing on building his credibility rather than seeking an emotional response. The largest challenge Dr. King faced in writing his response was that his audience did not respect him. As a result of the laws he devoted himself to protest, Dr. King was a second class citizen. To the white clergymen he was addressing he was both socially and legally inferior. The feeling of supremacy that the clergymen, and many other whites, had toward blacks at the time made them largely unsympathetic to their plight. To avoid appearing pitiful or even pathetic he maintains a calm and authoritative tone. Even though the clergymen were harshly critical of his activities and methods King responds in a collected manner I feel that [...] your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I want to try to answer ... • 45. Statistics Experiment Essay Statistics Experiment For my maths coursework I will be conducting an investigation into statistics. I had a choice for this coursework of both statistics on year 10 to 11 school children, and facts about them and also their likes in terms of sport and subjects at school. I chose not to do this project on that information; instead I chose data on 100 different cars, the reason for this is that I like cars more and may perhaps pursue it as a career. I did not want to do a project on data that I have no interest in. The 100 different cars have data under the following headings, Car number in order from 1 to 100, the make of the car, the price when new of the car, the current second hand price, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For my coursework I will be hopefully conducting a total of 3 different investigations into this survey, though this may change to 2 or 4. My aim is to look for a correlation in the separate investigations and perhaps if I can draw any conclusions or maybe find a formula or prediction for a particular investigation that will work for all or most cars. E.g. if from mileage, price when new and age I can calculate the current second hand price. My investigation will be: The frequency of mileage in my sample, if there is a relationship between the second hand price and age of a car, and finally if there is relationship between the age and percentage loss of a car. I will be taking a sample of 20 cars; I will take every 5th car in the database. I will show the data in terms of tables, a tally chart, and by way of bar, and scatter graphs with a line of best fit if applicable. To improve my investigation I will take a sample of 5 cars, which will not be included in my final investigation, but this 5 car sample is to test my investigation techniques, and to allow me to foresee and problems and practise in investigating statistics. I will not be able to take all 100 cars and will have to do my investigations on different samples of the survey, I hope to take 1/5 of the cars, and I will do my investigations on 20 cars. I ... • 47. Different Types of Competition Pure Competition: Pure competition involves number of companies or firms manufacturing similar or identical goods. In such pure competition the firms have no control over the prices. These companies are often termed as Price Takers . The pricing strategy is no in hands of the company it is determined by market forces. The firms operating in a pure competition manufacture standardized products which do not offer them a chance to differentiate their products on the basis of some unique feature of the product. The firms also do not spend on advertising their products because of the standardized nature of the products the firms manufacture. The demand of the products in pure competition is perfectly elastic. This principle maximizes the productivity by efficiently allocating the resources in the right areas. The firms do not have any market power as they have no or very little impact on the overall market structure. In order for a firm to maximize the profits the pricing strategy that is used is cost plus pricing where the firm charges the consumer for the cost and the per unit profit that they like to charge on the basis on the basis of market analysis. Comparison of the Opening Sequences of Two Different Versions of Romeo and Juilet The objective of this essay is to compare two different film adaptations of William Shakespeare s Romeo Juilet. Franco Zefferelli directed the first rendition of this play in 1968. This was the more conventional, traditional version of the play. It was slow, peaceful, and in my opinion, how Shakespeare would ve wanted it. Despite it being old, it was a beautiful interpretation of Shakespeare s tragic love story. Here, Leonard Whiting played Romeo and Olivia Hussey played Juilet. After these scenes, the prologue is spoken, while the camera pans across the landscape of the imaginary Verona city. The narrator s voice is soothing and evocative, which again makes the audience feel at peace. Following the reading of the prologue, the camera quickly goes down to the market scene. Here, the atmosphere changes. The contrast here is noticeable, as it goes from a peaceful landscape scene, to the hustle and bustle of the market. This gives the audience an idea of things to come. The scene starts with the Capulets merrily walking along, joking, and on the whole, being very light hearted. Next, the camera focuses on the Montagues, who are portrayed as being a lot more serious Dark clothes, no jokes, then, after some puzzling literature, a big fight breaks out between the two rivals. Here, the audience can identify with the characters, as there are some pretty good close ups of the characters faces, which show strong emotions fear (Benvolio), hatred (Tybalt). The slow build up also helps the audience to identify with the characters. The Luhrmann version opens with the prologue being read by a newsreader on a miniscule television screen. This immediately suggests to the audience that the film is going to be situated in the 20th century. This also tells the audience that this whole affair is a big event the main fact being that it s a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
