Beethoven s Fifth Symphony
Beethoven s Fifth Symphony Beethoven s fifth symphony, composed in 1808, is a fantastic musical
masterpiece. It sends you on a wild emotional rollercoaster for the entire thirty two minute length of
the piece. The first movement is in sonata form, the second is in theme and variations form, the third
is a scherzo and the last movement is also in sonata form. The ride begins with a first movement of
chaos and suspense. The movement shifts back and forth between powerful dark dominant chords and
motives and triumphant light lyrical melodies. The image that comes to mind is that of a chase in third
person. The exposition starts off with a motive that is three short notes and one long one. It s forceful
and dominant and it feels like it grabs

The 1986 West End Production
Chess
Jarrett Winters Morley
(For the purposes of this essay, I will be focusing on the 1986 West End production instead of the
1988 Broadway production.)
Chess is an original musical with music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with book and lyrics
by Tim Rice. The story follows an unexpected relationship between a Soviet chess grandmaster and a
woman who manages his opponent during the World Chess Match in Bangkok, Thailand. The
significance of the World Chess match in this story is tremendous because it takes place during the
climax of the Cold War, and the two adversaries whom are to face each other are from America and
the U.S.S.R, and each country wants their grandmaster to win for propaganda purposes. The main
characters in the story are not representations of real people, but are thought to hold their roots in
Bobby Fischer, one of the greatest American chess grandmasters of all time and former World
Champion, and Anatoly Karpov, one of the greatest Russian chess grandmaster and former World
Champion.
Chess was first released as an album in 1984 before any stage productions were attempted, partly to
raise the money and to see how the music would fair. On May 14th, 1986, it opened as a stage
production at London s West End at the Prince Edward Theatre and ran for three years. Two years
later, it opened on Broadway, and flopped after a run of two months. The show received extremely
varied reactions, ranging from far too long to eclectic and stirring .

A research specialist for the CDC, Dr. James Curran, stated in July of 1981 that no cases have been
reported to date outside the homosexual community or in women (Altman, 1981). That may have been
the case in that moment of time, but much changed over the course of only a few months. Between
July and December of 1981, another population was identified as suffering from the illness that had no
name. This was the population of injecting drug users (IDU) and it was no longer limited to the United
States, as Great Britain had its first reported case in that same month (AVERT, 2015). With the
HIV/AIDS outbreak achieving a trans continental status, efforts were ramped up to identify the source
of transmission. By the end of 1982, reports of cases with similar symptoms were coming from
several European countries, Uganda, and Haiti which reflected the widespread nature of the situation
(AVERT, 2015). In just one year, the number of cases reported in the United States alone went from 41

wasting effects and rapidity of onset to death. Finally identified as being a blood borne pathogen,
AIDS became the name and transmission linked to exposure to blood by sexual relations, needle

times, one may observe that any young child s piece of clothing or backpack is plastered with the face
of some known or unknown superhero portrayed in popular culture, on television and in the movies.
These superheroes are found throughout American society. Because superheroes are growing more
popular amongst mass marketing for motion pictures and their merchandise is constantly targeting

On the surface level, children are able to learn and determine these behaviors in a black and white
manner. As a child matures, it is necessary for an adult, an educator, or a parent to come into play to
properly foster and edify the child s moral understanding. These depictions of superheroes fighting
crime in itself are not detrimental to society on its own. It is the interpretation of what goes on through

how you would feel if you were caught with steroids and banned. Your reputation is tarnished and

He suggests that people take their own risks and thinks that if athletes take steroids it s at their own
use. There are several reasons to ban performance enhancing drugs: respect for the rules of sports,
recognition that natural talents and their perfection are the point of sports, and the prospect of an arms
race in athletic performance.(Murray,6). President of Hastings center Thomas Murray thinks PED s
should be banned. He says athletes disrespect the sport while using drugs. He also says that taking
drugs destroys the description of sports and that is natural talent and perfection. He finally ends it by
saying drugs destroy the competitive nature of all sports and turns it into a game of

and causes you to wonder why people do those things. In fact, some are really good at covering their
tracks in the murder, but not all get away with it. Not all are guilty some are innocent, some get lucky
and support. They describe the case really good, especially on how the victim dies and how the
forensic will do everything in their power to find justice for the people. In the book, they should
describe more about what the forensic do in the case instead of giving little information of what s
happening. The book to me is 4 stars because they could have given more information about the case
before saying if the person is guilty or not guilty. Even though they did that, I actually enjoyed reading
the cases and how they were solved because I felt like I was one of the investigators.

The Physics Of Continuum Mechanics
In continuum mechanics, a Newtonian Fluids is a fluid that the viscous stress arising from its flow, at
every point, are linearly proportional to the local strain rate. The reason we research Newtonian Fluids
is that Newtonian fluids are the simplest mathematical models of fluids that account for viscosity. In
natural world, there are many common liquids and gases that can be assumed to be Newtonian Fluids.
For example, water, alcohol, thin oil, air, and most of pure liquids. Newtonian fluids get the name by
Isaac Newton, who is one of the most famous scientists in the world. He is the first person who found
the relation between the rate of shear strain and shear stress for such fluids in differential form.
Newtonian Fluids can be also called linearly viscous fluid, which has been found to describe
adequately the mechanical behavior of many real fluids under a wide range of situations. In order to
study Newtonian Fluids, we need to understand the concept of fluids.
A liquid is a nearly incompressible fluid that will suit to the its container s shape. However, its volume
always independent of pressure. There are four basic states of matter. They are solid, gas, plasma, and
liquid. Besides, Liquid is the only state with a definite volume but no fixed shape. Water is the most
common liquid on Earth. Liquid and gas are similar in many ways. Both of them can flow and take the
shape of a container. However, most liquids cannot be compressed as others. Also liquids will not to

Microsoft And Its Constituent Operating Units
Using a broad variety of academic and industry sources, our team has conducted extensive
background research on Microsoft and its constituent operating units. On the basis of our analysis of
the challenges facing these units, jointly and severally, we are proposing Microsoft immediately
initiate a comprehensive shift in the strategic direction of its Entertainment and Devices business unit.
Microsoft s inadequate response to the iPhone era mobile revolution has seen it languish behind its
main competitors in the consumer electronics space; in Q2 of 2014, the Windows Phone accounted for
only 2.5% of the 301.3 million unit shipments worldwide (IDC, 2014). Likewise, while Q4 2014
Xbox console sales were up 14% over Q3, the competing Sony platform sold 70% more consoles
during the same period (Harradence, 2014; Nelva, 2014). Microsoft s devices have failed to command
sufficient market attention to ensure the company s status as a major player in consumer technologies.
Growing market share in mobile and gaming has become a strategic imperative of the highest
importance.
We have identified three areas of pressing concern that simultaneously represent growth opportunities.
First, Microsoft must rededicate itself to building first party software that fosters creativity and
improves the lives of users. This continues Microsoft s tradition of creating dominant, functional
platforms across a variety of hardware and contexts, as it did with Windows in the PC era. Second, by

The United States Contribution to the Rise of Pinochet
The date September 11th is not only a date of terror for the United States, but for the country Chile it

Once in power, Pinochet was assisted by the United States to remain in power. Secretary of State
Henry Kissinger attempted to hide from Congress and the media the breaking of human rights acts
that Pinochet was responsible for. Only a month after he came into power reports from the CIA came
in stating that Pinochet planned to destroy any and all resistance within two months and this will
require more killing by the military. With this knowledge Kissinger, rather than accusing Pinochet of
breaking human rights laws, attempted to outmaneuver the U.S. Congress to supply Pinochet with
weapons that Congress had denied (Landau 1999, pages 16 17). This support allowed Pinochet to gain
a complete dictatorship. As ruler he closed the Chilean Congress, banned political parties, censored

The And Sacking Of The Greatest Metropolis
The plundering and sacking of the greatest metropolis (Constantinople) in the Christian world. Surely,
this was not the result that Pope Innocent III had in mind when he called upon the leaders of Europe in
1198 in an attempt to convince them to retake the Holy Land (Jerusalem). Since the death of Saladin,
Pope Innocent believed they were at a moment of weakness and it was a great opportunity to take the
Holy Land (Robinson). However, they would never get there. Short of resources and men the
crusaders took deals with the Republic of Venice and Alexis the IV. These deals involved them
invading Zara and Constantinople, fellow Christian kingdoms (Robinson). The irony of such actions is
astounding, considering their original mission of taking the cross in the name of Christianity. The 4th
Crusade was an eruption of tensions between the West and the Byzantine Empire which was caused by
the barbaric, greedy, and hypocritical nature of the Western leaders and crusaders and would leave a
devastating impact on the future of Byzantium. The relationship between Byzantium and the West was
severely severed by the time of the 4th crusade. There were still animosities from the West regarding
the Schism of 1054 when the Orthodox Church split from the Catholic Church (Phillips). There were
tensions caused by invasions by the fighting between the two parties in decades previous, and also by
the mannerism of passing crusader armies in Byzantium in 1095. Significantly, there was a general

Many people agree with the fact that they can watch Netflix and take a break from their normal lives.
People like that Netflix is more accessible because it is cheap and they are many favorited shows on

reason why Internet Television is taking over Cable Television is because the fact that Cable
Television prices are rising and more people are going to Netflix and other programs because of this.
In addition, Internet Television is taking over Cable Television because Internet TV is more modern

Interview With Other Culture
I have a close family friend who moved here from the Philippines when she was twenty six. We have
lived next door to her and her family for over ten years and I never once took the time to learn about
her life before she moved to America. With this being said, before this interview, I had no knowledge
of the Philippine culture. Before this encounter I had no knowledge of the proclamation of Martial
Law placed over the Philippines. Estrellita, the woman I interviewed and spent time with, explained
how she was in her last year of nursing school when the President enacted this law. She claimed that
those were very hard times for the country, but she had to remain strong and complete school. Once
completing school she would be free to seek out an adventure in another country. Some customs never
change, and that is the case for one of the strongest held customs of the Philippine culture. When ...

This experience has given me the opportunity to learn from another culture. The interview with my
friend from the Philippines has influenced me to learn more about the cultures that differ from my
own. I am eager to learn about other cultures and gain knowledge of their values and beliefs. From
this cross cultural experience, I have gained a sense of ease when it comes to interacting with different
cultures. I have learned to be patient and listen well when speaking to a person who has a thick accent.
Allow me to finish with a quotation from Nelson Mandela: No one is born hating another person
because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if
they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart
than it s opposite (Ozdowski, 2013). Diversity is such a wonderful thing, and this cross cultural
experience has shown me that we have so much to learn from cultures other than our

A Summary Of A Bookkeeper In Texas
A bookkeeper in Texas has been detained by authorities for allegedly duping a church she was
working for out of $1 million and using the money to buy dogs, property, jewelry, and other personal
items.
Rosina K. Blanco, 38, was hired by the priest of Basilian Father s Mission as a bookkeeper in the
summer of 2015. Last week, she appeared in court and was charged with eight counts of wire fraud
after the church noticed irregularities in its funds in 2016, 8 News details.
We saw evidence of all kinds of personal expenses, Atty. Steve Williard said. In fact, I recall one
where, I think, she bought four German Shepherds.
According to prosecutors, Blanco had allegedly funneled church money into her personal accounts
and used charitable donations to purchase jewelry, Louis Vuitton bags, and even property. Williard
said the bookkeeper was forging the Father s signature on the transactions. ... Show more content on

Comparison Of Jacob, Esau, And Shakespeare s Brotherly...
Jacob, Esau, and Shakespeare s Brotherly Betrayal Over time, William Shakespeare has become a
literary genius that many authors, screenwriters, and playwrights have drawn influence from. The
influence of Shakespeare has been seen from movies like She s The Man to musicals like West Side
Story to books like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. As one of the first featured playwrights
of his time, Shakespeare himself did not have as many tropes and events to write about like modern
writers do and would have had to draw inspiration from life around him and texts that had been
written at the time. Even if a person could not read in sixteenth century Catholic, and then Protestant,
England, they probably had a general idea of what the Bible was and the stories included. The Bible
was a source of influence for many morality plays and even small collections of short stories like The
Canterbury Tales. Roland Barthes, a theorist on textualism, would say that old texts like the Bible
contain codes that can be found in texts even today. From an intertextual reading of his plays like King
Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, King Henry IV, Part I, and The Tempest, it can be argued that
Shakespeare drew his inspiration for the betrayal in these plays from Biblical stories like the story of
Jacob and Esau. In Genesis 27, Isaac, the son of Abraham, has gone blind and wishes to bestow a
blessing on his eldest son Esau. Esau is a hunter and the better provider for the family when Isaac

Four Theories Of The Press Essay
Four Theories of the press According to three professors of communication Fred S. Siebert, Theodore
Peterson and Wilbur Schramm there are four theories of the Press (Siebert, Peterson and Schramm,
1956).
Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate
under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient
Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the
hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician, Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679)
had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and individual objections were to be
ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Another German thinker, Engel further reinforced the theory by stating that
freedom came into its supreme right only under Authoritarianism (Peoi.org, 2015). Authoritarian
theory concept of the press is developed in Europe after Gutenberg. Presses in Europe were privately
owned until the 1850s. However the aristocracy who governed the countries wanted some sort of
control on the financial and political power. The aristocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Libertarian theory is under private sphere (Penning, 2006). The libertarian theory declares that,
everyone has the right to publish anything that he wants without fear of the constraints of licensing or
censorship. This theory is free from government control, even to the point of allowing attacks on
institution (Amira, 2012). In this theory, the Libertarian model functions as a watchdog to monitor
government policy. However, there are also limitations among the libertarian model. Limitations of
libertarian like journalism have been unwilling to recognize and censure colleagues who violate
professional standards. Sometimes, there will be standards overly abstract and ambiguous. Journalism
may pursue truth aggressively and present the news

Fission Vs Fusion
What s the difference between Fission and Fusion? Science is a measurement of true knowledge to the
world and for some is a bragging front to show the amount of intelligence and power some countries
have. Through certain aspects of science, countries can demonstrate any amount of dominance they
have by demonstrating new technologies and theories. Fusion and Fission is one of the great
explorations that man has discovered due to the benefits it brings to human life. The promise of fusion
is enormous due to how big of an energy system it gives and it comes together by fuel that is obtained
by seawater and is also mixed with lithium from the earth s crust. Most people get Fission and Fusion
confused and they figure that it is the same thing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most prefer Fission because it can be controlled but if defense is an option fusion would win. Fusion
can be three to four more times powerful than fission. Fusion has a higher energy rate and blast range
capacity. Hydrogen bombs that have been tested have been seen to remain better and greater than the
atomic bombs. A hydrogen bomb uses a fission reaction to trigger the isotope Deuterium in the bomb
which causes a thermonuclear reaction which then is lead by a fusion reaction. During the process the
fusion reaction implodes in and the explodes out, that is why hydrogen bombs are shown to have a
higher release of energy and a more destructive outcome. Most people like the United states prefer
Fusion bombs over fission bombs due to the capability of their results. The megaton bomb that Korea
is testing has a blast range of 1.7 miles, while Castle Bravo (USA) has a impact about 80 times
stronger than the megaton. Most countries have developed fusion bombs and Iran is now conducting
research on its nuclear capacity. Due to the knowledge that the United States has about both fusion
and fission, this is why it is so concerning that other countries are testing nuclear bombs. If they can
perfect their formulas, and get the right range right this could put many countries including the United
States in danger. Overall,

Catilina Island Trip
Today was the last day of my field trip to Catilina island. I was going kayaking that day. I was on a
rocky beach. I could here the waves crushing agisnt the rocks as we where getting ready to go out to
sea on the kayaks. The sea breeze stung my face when I looked into it. We had to put on water shoes
to keep our feet from getting cuts on the rocks. The shoes did not do a very good job of keeping our
feet from hurting, altho they did stop us from getting cuts. The hardest part was getting the kayaks to
the shore. They were about 48 to 58 feet from the shore. It was hard because we could not drag the
kayaks to the shore. After we got the kayaks to shore we sat in our kayaks ready to go out to sea. This

you. My throat got sore from yelling iceburg so many times. I fanily realized that I was wet because
the ore brought up water onto the kayak. People were also throwing seaweed at us. The seaweed that
was not from there felt like an unsticky spiderweb but more durable. The seaweed that was from the
island was a teardrop shape with a vertical oval alomost at the bottom. It felt better than the other
seaweed and also a little bit like wet rubber. In my opion I thought it felt good. When I saw the seals
and the sea otters I was squealing with excitement even though I ve seen them before in the zoo. The
baby ones where the cutest as they were laying on the rock. We passed by them altho the current was
there so we had to fight it a little bit so we would not hit the rocks. When we where heading back we

State v. Gaines, 346 Or. 160, at 171 72 (Or. 2009). In Gaines, the court held that amendments to
O.R.S. § 174.020 provided a methodology in interpreting statutes for the court. Id at 171. Gaines held
that when a court is to determine a statute s meaning the court will first look to the statutes text and
context to interpret its meaning. Id. Additionally, Gaines held that the legislative history of a statute
can be utilized when proffered by one of the parties. Id at 171 72. The Gaines court held that it is up to
the determination of the court as to how much weight would be given to the legislative history in its
analysis. Id at 172. Finally, if the statute is still ambiguous after analyzing the text, context, and
legislative history, then the court may utilize general maxims of statutory construction to aid in
resolving the remaining uncertainty. Id at 165.

Abolition Of Pennies
The U.S have been producing pennies for over a 200 years now and over time it has become very
useless to the society. A penny is only one cent and to most people that is worthless. Pennies were
more valued around the 1950s, when the products were very cheap to buy. As technology evolved, and
as products got more expensive, the use of dollar bills and greater got more valuable. The abolition of
the penny needs to happen in the United States. Because pennies are outdated, therefore the United
States should abolish the pennies, since there s no single products that can be purchased with a penny.
Pennies are so worthless in this new century, but yet the united states are still producing millions of
pennies every day. The U.S economy has increased

The Slave Trade
Through the transportation use of the asientistas, the slave trade was constantly changing and
integrated with the whole Atlantic economy. From 1595 to 1773, a total of 648,688 slaves, or an
annual average of 3,381 slaves every year for the 178 years of trade. However, as with many
economic understandings and studies changes are more important than the totals. Therefore, the
changing sources of supply and destinations are of more importance. With Spanish records, the
Guinea of Cape Verde and the region just south of Congo mouth were the main sources of slaves
arriving to Spanish America. More recently in 1997, Hugh Thomas published one of his better known
works The Slave Trade: The History of the Atlantic Slave Trade 1440 1870. In his piece here Thomas
speaks to the morals and ethics behind slavery as well as how the international profit making business
got started. At the very beginning, Columbus himself became a slave trader in the new Atlantic
business, and thus the slave economy began. Very slowly, black slaves also began to be seen in the
new Spanish imperial possessions. But this occurred without fanfare, and with false starts. However,
when the Spanish Crown heard the requests of many of its officials in the New World, they started to
allow the supply of African workers. It grew rapidly and between 1529 and 1537 the Crown gave over
350 licenses to slavers to carry African workers to Peru. And less than 50 years later a constant supply
was delivered to help

Essay about Mergers in the World Economy
Mergers in the World Economy
. Monopoly is a great enemy to good management which can never be universally established but in
consequence of that free and universal competition which forces every body to have recourse to it for
the sake of self defense (Smith, 1776: 63).
Adam Smith found that monopolies were a negative aspect for an economy therefore supporting
competition among firms in order to protect one s firm.
Competition policy affects the nature of firms and policy makers in today s global economy.
Competition policy effects the world economy in many ways and with its increase in importance there
must be an international agreement on competition policy. Adam Smith highly regarded competition
policy as a means to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without any policies firms could try and monopolize the industry and there would not be restrictions
for new producers into the market.
Competition policy effects many parts of the global economy. It impacts actions such as mergers,
trade policies, acquisitions and strategic business alliances. Smith examines how trade is related to
competition policy when trade is privileged for a few. Privilege of an incorporated trade restrains the
competition in the town where it is established to those who are free of the trade (Smith, 1776: 135).
Some trade policies could affect the process of competition. Today within the international economy
trade policy has common characteristics with competition policy in such instances as non border trade
barriers. Although using competition policy as an actual trade policy mechanism in order to increase
market access can raise problems. Tharakan and Lloyd point out the fact that using competition policy
directly for market access is not a desirable action to take.
Competition is implied from the freedom of economic order and the freedom to compete. Fortman
claims that the exercise of private economic power is controlled by the opportunities enjoyed by other
economic subjects to make use of this freedom of enterprise (Fortman, 1966: 2). Therefore when
competition is restricted free enterprise activity is then restricted.

Database Architecture Vs. Mysql Essay
Rania Hanna
SDEV 350: Homework 2
Database Architecture Comparison
Oracle 12c vs MySQL
MySQL was used as a comparison to Oracle 12c since my company currently uses MySQL in their
database development. My role as a technical writer at my company does not require me to fully
understand our database work, but as I move more into a software engineer position, possibly at my
current company, I recognize the need to know and relate to the database my company uses.
Architecture of Oracle 12c:
Physical
Relational database management systems (RDBMS) have a number of characteristics that make them
more efficient and preferred operational choices. One characteristic is the independence of logical data
structures as tables, indexes, and views from physical storage structures. Because the logical and the
physical structures are separate from each other, physical data storage can be managed and organized
without affecting access to logical structures. Renaming a database file, for example, does not rename
the tables stored within that database file.
An Oracle database stores Oracle data in file sets within persistent disk storage. Persistent disks are
storage devices that function similar to physical disks in a server or desktop. They are used to ensure
data redundancy and optimize performance, as they are located independently from the virtual
machine instances, which allows for detaching or moving persistent disks. This keeps data available
even after instances are deleted.

Anemospili Minoan Site Analysis
The temple of Anemospilia is located at the northern end of Mount Iuktas, overlooking arable land and
modern day Heraklion, with extensive views both to the east and the west. The site was excavated by
J. Sakellarakis in 1979, and given its small size, turned out to be one of the most controversial
excavations to have taken place in Crete.
The building is unusual for a Minoan site in that it is more symmetrical and less labyrinthine than
most Minoan remains. The simple design consists of three rectangular rooms in a row, and a corridor
or antechamber running the length of the three rooms to the north of the building. There is no other
example of such a building from the Minoan Mycenean periods. However, Dennis Hughes points out
in his book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along the south wall there was a bench which may have been used both for sitting on and for placing
cult objects. The most interesting find in this room was a pair of larger than life size clay feet and ash
from a burnt wooden object. This evidence suggests that there was originally a large statue here. The
body would have been made of wood and slotted onto two sticks at the top of the clay feet. The body
would have been dressed in material and the feet would not have been visible. It is possible that the
statue originally stood on the bench next to the only piece of bare rock which intruded into the
building, deliberately allowed to do so as it represented sacred earth .
The eastern room was where bloodless ritual ceremonies took place. Along the south wall there was a
stepped altar. The finds here were smaller in size than in the central room and included two small
bronze boxes similar in design to others found at Mycenae and in the Mycenaean royal burial at
Tholos Tomb A in Phourni cemetery near Archanes. Large bowls were placed on the stepped altar and
it is known that these would have been used for offerings of agricultural produce fruit, crops,
vegetables, wine and

Why Women Were At Qumran
Whether women were at Qumran or not is a question many scholars disagree about. A well known
trend indicates that there were no women at Qumran, but that the Qumran settlement consisted of
celibate males and the presence of women in the cemetery found by the site of Qumran has been
argued against being from Qumran at second temple period. The most accepted hypothesis concerning
the identity of the people at Qumran connects three factors: the site itself at Qumran on the shore of
the Dead Sea, the dead sea scrolls discovered in the nearby caves, and the Essene population who
were believed to have occupied Qumran. From the descriptions of three well known historians; Pliny,
Josephus and Philo, all three describe the Essenes as a group of ascetics. Pliny even notes that their
dwelling place is on the western shore of the Dead Sea and they live there in splendid isolation with
neither property nor women. Pliny s description constituted one of the most important elements in the
identification of the Qumran site as the Essenes dwelling, and both the material and archaeological
artifacts were interpreted according to this theory. There are various endeavors made by researchers to
accommodate the records of Josephus, Pliny, and Philo in which the Essenes were abstinent. Using
Josephus record of wedded Essenes, the accompanying is submitted: Concerning sequence: 1) De

  • 2. Beethoven s Fifth Symphony Beethoven s Fifth Symphony Beethoven s fifth symphony, composed in 1808, is a fantastic musical masterpiece. It sends you on a wild emotional rollercoaster for the entire thirty two minute length of the piece. The first movement is in sonata form, the second is in theme and variations form, the third is a scherzo and the last movement is also in sonata form. The ride begins with a first movement of chaos and suspense. The movement shifts back and forth between powerful dark dominant chords and motives and triumphant light lyrical melodies. The image that comes to mind is that of a chase in third person. The exposition starts off with a motive that is three short notes and one long one. Chess is an original musical with music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with book and lyrics by Tim Rice. The story follows an unexpected relationship between a Soviet chess grandmaster and a woman who manages his opponent during the World Chess Match in Bangkok, Thailand. The significance of the World Chess match in this story is tremendous because it takes place during the climax of the Cold War, and the two adversaries whom are to face each other are from America and the U.S.S.R, and each country wants their grandmaster to win for propaganda purposes. The main characters in the story are not representations of real people, but are thought to hold their roots in Bobby Fischer, one of the greatest American chess grandmasters of all time and former World Champion, and Anatoly Karpov, one of the greatest Russian chess grandmaster and former World Champion. Chess was first released as an album in 1984 before any stage productions were attempted, partly to raise the money and to see how the music would fair. On May 14th, 1986, it opened as a stage production at London s West End at the Prince Edward Theatre and ran for three years. Two years later, it opened on Broadway, and flopped after a run of two months. The show received extremely varied reactions, ranging from far too long to eclectic and stirring . ... • 15. The Physics Of Continuum Mechanics In continuum mechanics, a Newtonian Fluids is a fluid that the viscous stress arising from its flow, at every point, are linearly proportional to the local strain rate. The reason we research Newtonian Fluids is that Newtonian fluids are the simplest mathematical models of fluids that account for viscosity. In natural world, there are many common liquids and gases that can be assumed to be Newtonian Fluids. For example, water, alcohol, thin oil, air, and most of pure liquids. Newtonian fluids get the name by Isaac Newton, who is one of the most famous scientists in the world. He is the first person who found the relation between the rate of shear strain and shear stress for such fluids in differential form. Newtonian Fluids can be also called linearly viscous fluid, which has been found to describe adequately the mechanical behavior of many real fluids under a wide range of situations. In order to study Newtonian Fluids, we need to understand the concept of fluids. A liquid is a nearly incompressible fluid that will suit to the its container s shape. However, its volume always independent of pressure. There are four basic states of matter. They are solid, gas, plasma, and liquid. Besides, Liquid is the only state with a definite volume but no fixed shape. Water is the most common liquid on Earth. Liquid and gas are similar in many ways. • 16. Microsoft And Its Constituent Operating Units Using a broad variety of academic and industry sources, our team has conducted extensive background research on Microsoft and its constituent operating units. On the basis of our analysis of the challenges facing these units, jointly and severally, we are proposing Microsoft immediately initiate a comprehensive shift in the strategic direction of its Entertainment and Devices business unit. Microsoft s inadequate response to the iPhone era mobile revolution has seen it languish behind its main competitors in the consumer electronics space; in Q2 of 2014, the Windows Phone accounted for only 2.5% of the 301.3 million unit shipments worldwide (IDC, 2014). Likewise, while Q4 2014 Xbox console sales were up 14% over Q3, the competing Sony platform sold 70% more consoles during the same period (Harradence, 2014; Nelva, 2014). Microsoft s devices have failed to command sufficient market attention to ensure the company s status as a major player in consumer technologies. Growing market share in mobile and gaming has become a strategic imperative of the highest importance. We have identified three areas of pressing concern that simultaneously represent growth opportunities. First, Microsoft must rededicate itself to building first party software that fosters creativity and improves the lives of users. This continues Microsoft s tradition of creating dominant, functional platforms across a variety of hardware and contexts, as it did with Windows in the PC era. Second, by ... Surely, this was not the result that Pope Innocent III had in mind when he called upon the leaders of Europe in 1198 in an attempt to convince them to retake the Holy Land (Jerusalem). Since the death of Saladin, Pope Innocent believed they were at a moment of weakness and it was a great opportunity to take the Holy Land (Robinson). However, they would never get there. Short of resources and men the crusaders took deals with the Republic of Venice and Alexis the IV. These deals involved them invading Zara and Constantinople, fellow Christian kingdoms (Robinson). The irony of such actions is astounding, considering their original mission of taking the cross in the name of Christianity. The 4th Crusade was an eruption of tensions between the West and the Byzantine Empire which was caused by the barbaric, greedy, and hypocritical nature of the Western leaders and crusaders and would leave a devastating impact on the future of Byzantium. The relationship between Byzantium and the West was severely severed by the time of the 4th crusade. There were still animosities from the West regarding the Schism of 1054 when the Orthodox Church split from the Catholic Church (Phillips). There were tensions caused by invasions by the fighting between the two parties in decades previous, and also by the mannerism of passing crusader armies in Byzantium in 1095. • 25. Comparison Of Jacob, Esau, And Shakespeare s Brotherly... Jacob, Esau, and Shakespeare s Brotherly Betrayal Over time, William Shakespeare has become a literary genius that many authors, screenwriters, and playwrights have drawn influence from. The influence of Shakespeare has been seen from movies like She s The Man to musicals like West Side Story to books like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. As one of the first featured playwrights of his time, Shakespeare himself did not have as many tropes and events to write about like modern writers do and would have had to draw inspiration from life around him and texts that had been written at the time. Even if a person could not read in sixteenth century Catholic, and then Protestant, England, they probably had a general idea of what the Bible was and the stories included. The Bible was a source of influence for many morality plays and even small collections of short stories like The Canterbury Tales. Roland Barthes, a theorist on textualism, would say that old texts like the Bible contain codes that can be found in texts even today. From an intertextual reading of his plays like King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, King Henry IV, Part I, and The Tempest, it can be argued that Shakespeare drew his inspiration for the betrayal in these plays from Biblical stories like the story of Jacob and Esau. In Genesis 27, Isaac, the son of Abraham, has gone blind and wishes to bestow a blessing on his eldest son Esau. Esau is a hunter and the better provider for the family when Isaac ... Siebert, Theodore Peterson and Wilbur Schramm there are four theories of the Press (Siebert, Peterson and Schramm, 1956). Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician, Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and individual objections were to be ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Another German thinker, Engel further reinforced the theory by stating that freedom came into its supreme right only under Authoritarianism (Peoi.org, 2015). Through certain aspects of science, countries can demonstrate any amount of dominance they have by demonstrating new technologies and theories. Fusion and Fission is one of the great explorations that man has discovered due to the benefits it brings to human life. The promise of fusion is enormous due to how big of an energy system it gives and it comes together by fuel that is obtained by seawater and is also mixed with lithium from the earth s crust. Most people get Fission and Fusion confused and they figure that it is the same thing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most prefer Fission because it can be controlled but if defense is an option fusion would win. Fusion can be three to four more times powerful than fission. Fusion has a higher energy rate and blast range capacity. Hydrogen bombs that have been tested have been seen to remain better and greater than the atomic bombs. A hydrogen bomb uses a fission reaction to trigger the isotope Deuterium in the bomb which causes a thermonuclear reaction which then is lead by a fusion reaction. During the process the fusion reaction implodes in and the explodes out, that is why hydrogen bombs are shown to have a higher release of energy and a more destructive outcome. Most people like the United states prefer Fusion bombs over fission bombs due to the capability of their results. The megaton bomb that Korea is testing has a blast range of 1.7 miles, while Castle Bravo (USA) has a impact about 80 times stronger than the megaton. Most countries have developed fusion bombs and Iran is now conducting research on its nuclear capacity. Due to the knowledge that the United States has about both fusion and fission, this is why it is so concerning that other countries are testing nuclear bombs. From 1595 to 1773, a total of 648,688 slaves, or an annual average of 3,381 slaves every year for the 178 years of trade. However, as with many economic understandings and studies changes are more important than the totals. Therefore, the changing sources of supply and destinations are of more importance. With Spanish records, the Guinea of Cape Verde and the region just south of Congo mouth were the main sources of slaves arriving to Spanish America. More recently in 1997, Hugh Thomas published one of his better known works The Slave Trade: The History of the Atlantic Slave Trade 1440 1870. In his piece here Thomas speaks to the morals and ethics behind slavery as well as how the international profit making business got started. At the very beginning, Columbus himself became a slave trader in the new Atlantic business, and thus the slave economy began. Very slowly, black slaves also began to be seen in the new Spanish imperial possessions. But this occurred without fanfare, and with false starts. However, when the Spanish Crown heard the requests of many of its officials in the New World, they started to allow the supply of African workers. It grew rapidly and between 1529 and 1537 the Crown gave over 350 licenses to slavers to carry African workers to Peru. And less than 50 years later a constant supply was delivered to help ... Monopoly is a great enemy to good management which can never be universally established but in consequence of that free and universal competition which forces every body to have recourse to it for the sake of self defense (Smith, 1776: 63). Adam Smith found that monopolies were a negative aspect for an economy therefore supporting competition among firms in order to protect one s firm. Without any policies firms could try and monopolize the industry and there would not be restrictions for new producers into the market. Competition policy effects many parts of the global economy. It impacts actions such as mergers, trade policies, acquisitions and strategic business alliances. Smith examines how trade is related to competition policy when trade is privileged for a few. Privilege of an incorporated trade restrains the competition in the town where it is established to those who are free of the trade (Smith, 1776: 135). Some trade policies could affect the process of competition. Today within the international economy trade policy has common characteristics with competition policy in such instances as non border trade barriers. Although using competition policy as an actual trade policy mechanism in order to increase market access can raise problems. Tharakan and Lloyd point out the fact that using competition policy directly for market access is not a desirable action to take. Competition is implied from the freedom of economic order and the freedom to compete. Fortman claims that the exercise of private economic power is controlled by the opportunities enjoyed by other economic subjects to make use of this freedom of enterprise (Fortman, 1966: 2). My role as a technical writer at my company does not require me to fully understand our database work, but as I move more into a software engineer position, possibly at my current company, I recognize the need to know and relate to the database my company uses. Architecture of Oracle 12c: Physical Relational database management systems (RDBMS) have a number of characteristics that make them more efficient and preferred operational choices. One characteristic is the independence of logical data structures as tables, indexes, and views from physical storage structures. Because the logical and the physical structures are separate from each other, physical data storage can be managed and organized without affecting access to logical structures. Renaming a database file, for example, does not rename the tables stored within that database file. An Oracle database stores Oracle data in file sets within persistent disk storage. Persistent disks are storage devices that function similar to physical disks in a server or desktop. They are used to ensure data redundancy and optimize performance, as they are located independently from the virtual machine instances, which allows for detaching or moving persistent disks. This keeps data available even after instances are deleted. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The building is unusual for a Minoan site in that it is more symmetrical and less labyrinthine than most Minoan remains. The body would have been made of wood and slotted onto two sticks at the top of the clay feet. The body would have been dressed in material and the feet would not have been visible. A well known trend indicates that there were no women at Qumran, but that the Qumran settlement consisted of celibate males and the presence of women in the cemetery found by the site of Qumran has been argued against being from Qumran at second temple period. The most accepted hypothesis concerning the identity of the people at Qumran connects three factors: the site itself at Qumran on the shore of the Dead Sea, the dead sea scrolls discovered in the nearby caves, and the Essene population who were believed to have occupied Qumran. From the descriptions of three well known historians; Pliny, Josephus and Philo, all three describe the Essenes as a group of ascetics. Pliny even notes that their dwelling place is on the western shore of the Dead Sea and they live there in splendid isolation with neither property nor women. Pliny s description constituted one of the most important elements in the identification of the Qumran site as the Essenes dwelling, and both the material and archaeological artifacts were interpreted according to this theory.
