Master Harold And The Boys Film Analysis
How the film version capture the essence of the play
The book Master Harold ...and the Boys, is a play written by Athol Fugard. It is about a boy, Hally,
dealing with his abusive alcoholic father and his relationship with Sam, who is more of a father figure
than his dad. The film adaptation of Athol Fugard s play directed by Lonny Price is an impactful piece
of art and it truly compliments the play. In the scene of how we meet Hally who becomes concerned
when he hears his dad is coming home from the hospital, we could see the director did such a great job
at interpreting the play into a movie. What s significant about this scene is that it draws two major
emotions joy and anger residing in the mind of Hally and it enhances the ... Show more content on

The camera mainly follows Hally. Hally would move toward the camera while the camera pans up,
revealing his main role in the film which also helps the audience to focus what is significant at that
given moment. Over the shoulder shots were used when Hally and Sam were having a conversation.
These shots helps to establish the positions of Hally and Sam. It shows how Hally truly feels about his
father coming back from the hospital as well as how Sam tried to help Hally. The use low angle and
high angle shots when Hally and Willie were about to play the shooting game place the audience into
the scene. The High angle shot makes Hally seem like more powerful and the low angle shot makes
Willie seem less powerful. It also makes the scene more dramatic.
The scene took place inside the tea room. The room is decorated with pale yellow wallpapers to give it
a 50s vibe and classic wooden table sets to create the retro atmosphere as in the play. The play was set
around the apartheid, hence it makes sense to see some elements that are relevant to that era. Sam and
Willie were wearing white waiter s coats and Hally was wearing a school uniform. The way Sam and
Willie dress tells us that Sam is more like an important than Willie is because Willie dresses like he s
doing more physical works and he actually was doing more physical works. Willie was cleaning the
floor and Sam was busy doing work in the

Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest
Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid representation of death and
its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the earth welcoming the
speaker back into the realm of nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth and when we die,
our bodies return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful image of what death is
composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and disturbing. When individuals are
presented with the thought of death, they often push this thought away out of fear and ignorance.
Everyone will die someday whether we ignore the thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a
relaxing and welcoming image for the reader on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver is still
alive, she doesn t know what death feels like. However, the way she describes death, I hope that it
feels like sleeping in a forest; full of stars and enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by
the earth welcoming the speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so
tenderly. This statement exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the
earth is being portrayed as a woman. This is significant because women are often portrayed as being
nurturing and caring. For the reader, this can trigger memories or ideas of who the reader would
picture the earth as. Whether that be a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. the reader can

How Technology Has Changed The Way We Conduct And Transact...
Computer technology will continue to flourish throughout the passage of time. Technology has
changed the way we conduct and transact business. As a result to these technological advances
businesses were required to adjust and adapt through the means of Computer Information Systems
(CIS) to survive in the modern business world. The workplace has changed significantly over the last
half century due to CIS. CIS has an effect over the business world, impacting how companies develop
and market their products, in conjunction with how people communicate and accomplish their jobs
more efficiently and successfully. The CIS field has grown drastically over the years. The employment
in CIS is projected to grow 22 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to The Bureau of Labor
Statistics. In 2020 there should be over 664,800 jobs open in the IS and CIS field (Thibodeau).
Computer information systems has revolutionized business by increasing a companies functionality,
improving data collection and lastly by flattening the world.
First and foremost CIS, also known as Computer Information Systems, is an integrated set of
components for collecting, storing, and processing data and for providing information, knowledge,
and digital products. Business firms and other organizations rely on information systems to carry out
and manage their operations, interact with their customers and suppliers, and compete in the
marketplace (Zwass). CIS is the combining of users, technology and processes to

Environmental Conservation Unit 511
Throughout Wilderness 511 the class learns to grasp the aspects between conservation and
preservation. The terms in general seem to be quite similar and closely related, but once the examples
are brought to the table the two terms are easily understood. When talking about conservation and
preservation the end conclusion talks about saving the wilderness and nature around us. Conservation
can be defined as a careful preservation and protection of something; especially: planned management
of a natural resource to prevent exploitation, destruction, or neglect (dictionary.com). In other words,
conservation is taking the action of preserving. Preservation can be defined as to keep alive or in
existence; make lasting (dictionary.com). A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In class we learned about Yellowstone National Park and the battle to preserve it. Yellowstone
National Park was established in 1872 as the first national park, and was made up of two million acres
(Class notes). In the early stages of this becoming a National Park it was not done so to save the parks
nature and animals, it was done so to show how useless to civilization this land was. This process
overcame many challenges, the biggest one being the railroads and the private industries (Class notes).
Adirondack State Park was also a major topic when speaking about preservation. In 1885 Adirondack
Forest was chose to be preserved due to its high demand of water supply for New York. Not only was
this important because it was a major water source but it was also the first state park to be named as
so! It was made up of over 3 million acres and was preserved as protected wilderness in 1894 (Class
notes). At this point in time it was shown that preservation was becoming worth it. Preservation was
gaining political support all over the United States. Adirondack State Park started being recognized as
utilitarian benefits because it was preserving the water supply, and being preserved for recreational use
(Class notes). Today, there

A Summary Of Crispin
This story is set in England in the Middle Ages in the year 1377. It is about a young boy called
Crispin, who is declared a fugitive by the steward of his village. He runs away and is hunted by the
steward and his men. He meets a friend called Bear and travels with him to the city, where he learns
the truth about himself and manages to win his freedom.
Crispin is a thirteen year old boy who lives with his mother in the small village of Stromford, which is
part of Lord Furnival s land. He has no father and is known simply as Asta s son. When his mother
dies, he is so upset that he runs into the woods. There he accidentally overhears a stranger and John
Aycliffe the village steward discussing a great danger. They see Crispin and attempt to kill him, but he
runs away. Crispin goes to the village priest and finds out that he has been declared a wolf s head ,
which means that anyone can kill him as if he is a wild animal. The priest gives Crispin a cross of lead
that his mother owned. He tells Crispin that his mother could read and write, and that she wrote the
words on the cross. He then tells Crispin that he must flee the village and head for a city. He will meet
Crispin that night and give him more information about his father and mother. Crispin takes this
advice, but as he flees the village he sees the body of the priest. He has been murdered.
Crispin wanders alone until he comes to an abandoned village. Here he meets a man called Bear, who
makes Crispin his servant.

What Is The Theme Of We Could You Mr Birch Essay
Kee Chuan Thye s We Could **** You Mr. Birch is a drama set in the 19th century, portraying the
days of the Malay Sultanate dilemma and the murder of British Resident, James Wheeler Woodford
Birch in Perak. The screenplay revolves around the actors playing multiple characters; jumping in and
out their roles from time to time and questioning the validity of the events while rehearsing the play.
This study aims to scrutinize the colonial effects during British colonization from a postcolonial
perspective. Postcolonialism employed into this text as the characters demonstrate great determination

The locals have been constantly opposed the British officials ideas and suggestion though they were
forced to adhere to the commands. This is seen when the chiefs of Perak refuse the intrusion of British
into their political affairs. Mantri refused the help of Governor Clarke appointing Raja Abdullah as the
Sultan as the chiefs unanimously believes he is incompetent to be Sultan of Perak. Mantri was firm
that they are capable of handling their own affairs because he knew the British s intention and giving
in to the British will further enhance the power of colonizer on their land. Apart from that, Raja
Abdullah was forced to sign the proclamation to transfer Perak to the British Resident, Birch.
According to Birch, he was hindered from carrying out his duty, thus, breaching the Pangkor
Treaty.Sultan Abdullah did not agree to cooperate with British government because his sovereignty
will be taken away. Unfortunately, Governor Jervois threatened Sultan Abdullah to replace his place
with Raja Yusuf if he refuses to sign the proclamation. In order to redeem themselves from the
colonizer, the chiefs collectively agreed to kill Birch as the last resort. Dato Maharajalela, believes

The Golden Age Of Drug Trafficking
In this current day, we are considered to be living in the golden age of drug trafficking . In 2016, top
officials and diplomats from governments all over the world met at the United Nations headquarters to
figure out what do to about the worldwide drug trafficking problem. Over various days of the
discussions, they came to the conclusion to make a more extensive advancement and approach, but
continue to keep conducting the war on drugs. They developed an outcome document that orders
countries to restrict, prevent and conflict drug related crime. This will be done by disturbing the
trafficking, production, manufacturing and cultivation of drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine,
heroin and other banned substances. The UN s data presents that the supply oriented stand to battling
the trafficking of drugs has ld to a consistency of failure. The data also shows that even the billions of
dollars that has been spent attempting to exterminate illicit crops, seize loads of drug produce and
detain traffickers has led to more worldwide drug use and production than ever. It has also been noted
that while these drug treaties continue to not be changes, the pace and evolution of organized crime
has been moving right beside the global economy. Progression in transportation, technology and
options of travel have been an addition to the capability and productivity of the global economy. To be
exact, globalization has driven and fueled this bursted outbreak of the illegal drug trade.

Notes On The Y Formacion Del Derecho

How Is Jay Gatsby Successful
In the 1920 s, otherwise known as the Roaring 20 s , Americans believed [that] in order to live a life to
the fullest, one would need to achieve their American dream. This idea of living a successful life is
captured in Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby. The character that best portrays trying to achieve
their American dream would be Jay Gatsby himself. For Gatsby, the American dream was to climb the
rigorous social ladder to have enough wealth to impress his love, Daisy, and recreate the past where he
can rekindle the love he and Daisy once had because he wishes to obtain Daisy s love once again. In a
way, Gatsby is successful in their pursuit of the American Dream because he shared many tender
moments between him and Daisy when they met again. For instance, His hand took hold of hers, and
as she said something low in his ear he turned toward her with a rush of emotions (96). This relates to
the American Dream since all he desired was to be with Daisy. It is obvious they are successful since
Gatsby is in possession of an extravagant mansion. In addition, On weekends his Rolls Royce ... Show

For instance, ...the clock tilted dangerously at the pressure of his head...he turned and caught it with
trembling fingers and set it back...we all believed for a moment that it had smashed in pieces on the
floor (86). This is appropriate since the clock represents Gatsby holding onto a relic of the past,
meaning he is stuck in time at the point where he had lost Daisy and never recovered or moved on.
Furthermore, the clock almost shatters to the floor but was caught at the last second by Gatsby,
showing that no matter what, time will never stop. Additionally, Gatsby also stated, Can t repeat the
past?...Why of course you can (110). This indicates that he believes he can fix the relationship
between him and Daisy as if time never flew

Wednesday Wars By William Shakespeare
The quality of mercy is not strained, is a line from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of Venice. This
line is used in the book Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. This line means that people should not be
forced to be kind or show mercy. Showing mercy is something that should happen naturally in humans
and not be to benefit themselves or be forced to do it. It should come from the kindness of your heart.
Relating to the plot line of Wednesday Wars, the mean old teacher, Mrs. Baker, shows mercy towards
one of her students, Holling Hoodhood, when Holling brings in cream puffs for the whole class to eat,
but the class rats eat and destroy all of the cream puffs. To illustrate, the text states, Thank you for the

He thinks about the racism and hate toward immigrants from Vietnam and the people that died in the
war, and realizes that not everything has a happy ending. To illustrate, the narration states, That s how
it is in Shakespeare. But Shakespeare was wrong. Sometimes there isn t a Prospero to make
everything fine again. And sometimes the quality of mercy is strained (page 72). The meaning behind
this quote is very true to reality. It means that with all the bad things going on in the world, there is not
always someone to be the knight in shining armor, or to be the good guy and save the day. People are
not always nice to each other. Sometimes tragedies happen, and even though they are never happen, it
is just part of life. Happy endings always occur in stories or plays, but not in the real world. So while
the quality of mercy is not strained in acts of kindness, that does not happen very often and in most
instances, the quality of mercy is

Slavery And Its Impact On The United States Essay
Over the past 35 years a great change has occurred in the study of slavery and its impact on the
settling of the New World. From a footnote in American history of little consequence until the cotton
fields of the antebellum South, it has evolved into a study that now sees the institution as the most
significant element in the colonization and exploitation of this hemisphere by Europeans. It also
acknowledges the participation of Africans and the Amerindians in this process and furthermore sees it
as essential to its occurrence. The added significance of the Atlantic system has created a more
compelling picture and thrust slavery to the forefront of the story form the beginning of this historical
era, in fact from before the moment Columbus encountered the Arawaks on Hispaniola. To understand
the history of the settling of European America is to understand the role slavery played in the
economic and political success of the one third of the migrants that arrived by choice at the expense of
the two thirds that arrived in chains. The discussion of modern historians now centers on when and
where did the transformation take place that brought ten to twelve million Africans to the Americas in
bondage, how did the social structure change with their arrival, what effect did they have on the
greater culture and in what ways were they able to create/maintain their own Creole African culture.

The Works Of David The King David
Throughout the history there has been major events that occurred which left an impact for generations.
A major history that was recorded in the bible was King David ; base on our understanding of history
David was once just a normal shepherd until King Saul the former ruler of Israel appointed him as the
new air to the throne. In the present year David is known as the slayer of Goliath killing him with
stones he put in his sling and cutting of his head. This event was printed as a biblical history because it
is said that before he became King, God gave Saul the position to become the first emperor of Israel,
but after disobeying god s words he was rejected from the throne . David became the symbol of
Florence, many artists have done sculptures of him and two of the best artists were Michelangelo and

The Charter Of The United Nations
Chapter I | United Nations. UN News Center. UN, n.d. Web. 21 Mar. 2016. This article was a posting
of the first chapter of the Charter of the United Nations. In it, it details the purposes and principles of
the United Nations thus allowing me to have a better understanding of why the United nations was
created. It was created for the purpose of maintaining international peace and security, and to that end:
to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the
suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful
means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement
of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace. Overall, the
organization is meant to maintain peaceful relations and create peaceful resolutions to conflicts. The
source is reliable as it was written by the United Nations, the organization it is describing, and their
was no extra writing added to it, it was just the charter itself.

Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay
According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD),
approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one
or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a
unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both
academically and socially.
There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the
outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an
effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any
speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of
hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory
nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range
from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition
in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means
for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of
hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or
cochlear implants. (Hunt, 2012, pp. 374 377)

Research Paper On Zebra Mussels
Did you know zebra mussels can lay up to 1 million eggs a year? The zebra mussel has been
overpopulating the Great Lakes since the mid 1980s. They re destroying everything around them. The
communities of Northeast Indiana should battle the zebra mussels because they are destroying the
ecosystem, they re destroying every manmade object around them, and they are overpopulating. To
start with, the zebra mussels are destroying the ecosystem. As it says in the National Wildlife
Foundation, They devastate native species by stripping the food web of plankton, which has a
cascading effect throughout the ecosystem. Lack of food has caused populations of alewives, salmon,
whitefish, and native mussels species to plummet. The zebra mussels are ... Show more content on

In the King County site they say, zebra mussels cause far reaching damage to water structures, they
attach to manmade structures, particularly pipelines, impeding water movement through hydroelectric
turbines and intake structures for drinking water and irrigation systems. Although they seem small and
harmless the zebra mussels are breaking and destroying every manmade object they can find. Since
they have their tentacles that can stick to things very well, when they come off the structure they are
taking pieces off of the structure with them. The zebra mussels need to attach to a hard surface, so
they are attaching to boats, motors, pipes, etc... They are breaking those objects piece by piece and if
we don t stop them now our objects will be ruined or destroyed. Finally the zebra mussels are
overpopulating the waters. In the Alien Profile it says, A female zebra mussel can produce 30,000 to
1,000,000 eggs in one year! Now think of that number of eggs times 5 trillion. That s a lot isn t it, well
that s how many zebra mussels there could be being made right now. We need to stop the mussels
before they become so out of control that we can t stop them. We need to do it now while we still have

Film Techniques Used to Emphasize Themes in V for Vendetta
Film techniques used to emphasize themes in V for Vendetta
In the film V for Vendetta, the director, James McTeigue uses symbolism, costume and dialogue to
emphasise the idea of everybody having a right to individuality, and the right and duty to resist forced
conformism.
James McTeigue uses symbolism in the film V for Vendetta to juxtapose the idea of individuality and
the resistance of forced conformity. The first important symbol used in the film is V s mask. This
symbol is shown in all of the scenes V appears in and again in the very last scene. In this scene
thousands of citizens gather wearing the masks and remove them. Masks often symbolize a character
hiding their identity. This final scene when the citizens remove their ... Show more content on

At the beginning of the film, Evey dresses to blend in with the crowds; she wears light colours,
nothing that stands out. However towards the end of the film, V helps Evey to lose her fear and
discover who she is. He shaves her head. After this point in the film Evey begins to wear darker
coloured clothing such as blacks and greys, and wears her bald head with pride. She does not cover it
with wigs or hats. This is similar to the costume changes shown in the film the Matrix, which James
McTeigue helped direct. While in the Matrix the characters wear darker clothes, these colours show a
change in attitude and the characters desires to resist being controlled and forced into conformity by
the Machines. This change in costume is similar to that of V for Vendetta, which shows Evey s new
found confidence in her identity, and her willingness to resist conforming to the totalitarian society she
lives in. In doing this, the director urges viewers to try to find their own individuality and resist the
conformism in their own lives. He uses this film to warn viewers of the dangers of not resisting forced
conformism, through the lack of change in costume in the other characters. In 2011 an article was
posted on Enotes which reads V s legacy for change is embodied in Evey, which is reflective of how

The Theory Of The Soul s Nonexistence And Its...
What does it mean to have no self? If having a self is defined as identifying with all of human
qualities, then does one feel pain by death? Joy by birth? These questions seem to strike at the core of
Buddhist teachings. Personal continuity, moral responsibility, karma, and rebirth are all affirmed by
Buddhist teachings, yet they also seem to be saying that no permanent, enduring self moves from one
life to the next or even from moment to moment. If the soul does not exist, then the concept of what is
there starts to break down into simpler terms emptiness, as explained by Thich Nhat Hanh. Buddhist
teachings introduce the concept of emptiness in the context of the soul s nonexistence and its
implications on moral responsibility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buddha chose to avoid the question, because he knew that answering this question in the affirmative
would be conforming with those brahmans contemplatives who are exponents of eternalism [the view
that there is an eternal soul] (Ananda Sutta)... and answering in the negative would be conforming
with those brahmans contemplatives who are exponents of annihilationism [death is the annihilation of
consciousness] (Ananda Sutta). Thanissaro s view relates to the concept of emptiness and the
implications on moral responsibility, personal continuity, rebirth, and karma through the Four Noble
Truths. The Four Noble Truths lead to the end of suffering and attachment. The first truth is that there
is suffering, second is suffering is created by the thirst for pleasures, third is suffering can end, and
fourth is the path to end suffering (Keown 50). Thanissaro states that these truths should be recognized
as they are and nothing else and should be performed appropriately. If one completes this task and
develop(s) the path of virtue, concentration, and discernment to a state of calm well being.
(Thanissaro), one will cease asking questions about the self and will instead ask questions about how
stress and suffering plays a role in a specific experience. These questions lead to direct answers that

I m not going to lie, I m quite scared, and anxious, even terrified, but as Max Lucado once said, Meet

Josie Alibrandi, the protagonist of Looking for Alibrandi, marches through her life without her father,

Winnie the Pooh, although a children s book, still conveys the value of working off others, as a means
of personal growth and changing perspective. Winnie, along with his friends, venture their world and
coming together to work off each other s strengths and weaknesses. Each individual character has a
blatant difficult that they struggle with throughout their countless adventures and stories, such as
piglet being an anxious mess, and Eeyore struggling to find a reason to even bother doing anything.
Yet as their adventures progress, so does their friendship, constantly evolving and adapting, working
off each other to grow as people, and overall, change their perspective. A prime example of how each
individual assists in changing the perspective of another, is the tale of when Winnie and his friends get
lost in the woods. Piglet, being the only one not with them, is terrified of both the dark and the forest,
but he conquers his fears, not for himself, but for his friends. He changed what he saw from a
nightmare into a plain, old tree. Winnie the Pooh may be a book directed at children, but it still shares

Whooping Cough And Its Effects On Children
Whooping cough
JennaKay Richardson
Career College of Northern Nevada
Whooping Cough Every year thousands of adults, children, and infants contract a dangerous and
highly contagious bacterial disease. This disease is called pertussis, more commonly known as
whooping cough, and it affects the upper respiratory tract. Pertussis gets the name whooping cough
because of the whoop sound made by those infected with the bacteria. Whooping cough is a disease
that is specific only to humans and has a greater affect on children or those with a weak immune
system. Those who already have a respiratory ailment such as COPD are also at a greater risk. The
CDC states that whooping cough is caused by bacteria known as Bordetella pertussis. These bacteria
attach to a person s cilia, or tiny hairs, that line the upper respiratory tract. They then release a toxin
that causes damage to these cilia as well as swelling to the respiratory tract. Pertussis is a highly
contagious disease that is transferred from person to person. People with pertussis usually spread the
disease by coughing or sneezing while in close contact with others, who then breathe in the pertussis
bacteria. Many infants who get pertussis are infected by older siblings, parents or caregivers who
might not even know they have the disease (Vaccines.gov n.d.). According to the CDC symptoms of
pertussis usually begin to show up within five to ten days after exposure to the bacteria, but it can take

Ancient Egyptian Social Classes
Social classes have divided people since the beginning of human civilization and still continue to keep
people separated in a world where it is encouraged that people work together. In ancient Egyptian
society, social classes were made to establish power and keep a chain of command. At the bottom of
the Egyptian social classes were the slaves and servants while the Pharaohs were above all (Egyptian).
Social classes in different societies are based on different things like occupation or, in today s society,
the amount of money one makes. During segregation in the 1950 s, the racial classes of white and
black basically served the same purpose as the social classes but was much more extreme. However,
when people die, those social classes mean absolutely nothing. The proverb, After the game, the king
and the pawn go into the same box means it does not matter where someone stands in society,
everyone dies eventually. The unknown author of this quote referenced the game of chess and uses
some of the words to symbolize other things. The word box in the quote is a symbol for death and the
game symbolizes life. In the game of chess, a piece is moved off to the side of the board after the

The Importance Of Owning Property With Great Historic And...
Many questions arise regarding the decision of owning property with great historic and economic
value. In the artistic world of museums, there has always been a craving to own the most valuable
antiquities created by human kind. The biggest battle of antiquities relies on the Elgin Marbles, which
were once part of the Parthenon, a magnificent creation of Athenians to worship Athena The Goddess
of War (British Museum web npg). This temple stands atop the Acropolis, on the site of another lost
temple to Athens patron goddess. Little is known about this first structure except that it was still under
construction in 480 B.C. when Persian forces sacked the city and demolished the Acropolis. The
Parthenon is very famous, and tourists from all over the world visit this temple to contemplate the
talent of past generations. In present times, we have Greece, which claims that the Elgin Marbles
should be repatriated; on the other hand we have Britain, which currently possesses the Elgin Marbles
displayed in the British Museum. The British Museum acquired these sculptures thanks to Lord Elgin,
a British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Lord Elgin was passionate about the ancient Greek art.
Between 1801 1805 he removed about half of the remaining sculptures back to Britain (BM web npg).
This big dispute has garnered extensive media attention. Not all of the sculptures from the Parthenon
are in the British Museum, even though a big portion of them are. You can also find

planners in China are required to receive related education to enhance the public confident on
financial planning. Taking the example of China taxation system, there were several changes in tax
incentive for foreign business and individual income tax. Financial planners in China should aware
these changes and modify their tax planning quickly for their clients.
Interpersonal skills are essential to financial planners. Because they have to collect the data from their
clients to make recommendations to their clients. When collecting data from their clients, financial
planners should show their integrity and competence to convince the clients. It can be better to set the
financial goal for their clients.
Chinese people would not disclose their private information to the stranger easily. It hampers financial

Neuroanatomy Essay
Neuroanatomy is the study of structure and function relationships in the brain and nervous system. As
this encompasses a study of both macroscopic and microscopic structures, a variety of histological
tools have been developed to enable that endeavor
Microscopy
Microscopy is an important technique for studying the structure and function of the nervous system.
This is enabled through the use of histological staining, in which a tissue of interest is preserved and
sectioned, and then stained using one of an array of techniques.
Histological staining provides contrast to the tissue so that details can be distinguished. For example,
gray matter contains neuron cell bodies, or somata, that can be stained to become visible under a
microscope. Nissl stains are useful for gray matter. For white matter of the brain, dyes such as Luxol

Histochemistry studies can reveal the molecular interactions of structures, such as neurotransmitter
production and activity, metabolism, immune function, and other interactions. Histochemistry can also
be used to reveal chemoarchitecture or chemical neuroanatomy.
Immunocytochemistry is a type of histochemistry that makes use of antibodies to visualize cell types,
axons, neuron structures, glial processes, blood vessels, or molecular components of cells like
neurotransmitters and intranuclear proteins. Immunocytochemical studies can also be used for
genomics studies of nervous system cells. Combining these techniques with a fluorescent stain allows
visualization of enzyme binding sites and reactions.
In situ hybridization is also an important histochemical tool for neuroanatomy studies. It uses
synthetic ribonucleic acid (RNA) probes to visualize complementary messenger RNA (mRNA)
transcripts of genes in the cell. This can help to reveal gene function.

The area we know today as Elmwood was still a wandering haunt of the Omaha, Pawnee, and Otoe

how genuine and kindhearted he tries to seem, and vows revenge on the princess.
Both Roscuro and the creature are very lonely and wish to have someone who can understand the way
the feel. The creature, at first, convinces Victor Frankenstein to make a female companion for him.
And even as (Roscuro) changed...he had longing. But now he just longed for someone whose heart
was as hardened as his was. (The Tale of Despereaux) Miggery Sow, the Princess Pea s personal
servant, was treated very poorly before she became the Princess s servant. She wants nothing more
than to be a Princess and live in a castle. Roscuro understands how Mig feels and convinces her to

While there are some major similarities between Frankenstein and The Tale of Despereaux, there are
quite a few differences within their context as well. In The Tale of Despereaux, a common theme that
runs through the movie is forgiveness. The Princess Pea and Roscuro both forgive each other and, of
course, everyone lived happily ever after, as all fairy tales do.

Similarities Between Lord Of The Flies And The Hunger Games
District 12. Where you can starve to death in safety (6). This is a quote from the book The Hunger
Games, by Suzanne Collins, and it is a prime example of the dystopian society the book is set in.
Another book set in a dystopian society is Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. The Hunger Games
is a book about a society where every year, 24 people are sent to fight to the death in the Hunger
Games. Lord of the Flies is about a big group of young children getting trapped on an island and
having to figure out how to survive on their own without any adults. Both the novel Lord of The Flies
and the book The Hunger Games present societies that are vicious and cruel, in similar settings, even
though there are some differences between the two stories. One similarity between both books is the
use of fire. At the beginning of Lord of the Flies fire is used to try to give a signal to passing ships that
there are children trapped on the island. If a ship comes near the island they may not be able to notice
us. So we must make smoke on top of the mountain. We must make a fire (33). At the beginning of
The Hunger Games fire is used to gain the Capitol s attention during the ceremony where all tributes
ride on chariots. I want the audience to recognize you when you re in the arena, says Cinna dreamily.
Katniss, the girl who was on fire (67). In both situations, fire is used to gain attention of people who
will be able to help them in the future, whether it s giving them a gift during the Games, or rescuing
them. However, later on in the stories fire is used differently. At the end of Lord of the Flies, Jack s
group uses fire to try to burn down the forest in order to find and kill Ralph. The fire was a big one
and the drum roll that he had thought had left so far behind was nearer (182). This quote is from a part
when Ralph is hiding in the currently burning down forest, trying to escape from Jack. In The Hunger
Games, fire is used to burn down part of the arena for the Games, in order to bring Katniss closer to
the other tributes. This fire is designed to flush us out, to drive us together (173). One difference
between the two books is the idea of unique appearances. In Lord of the Flies, there is the

Since they had to satisfy the domestic obligations, the banks have so far been confined within the

During this time frame members of the police force were selected by elected officials. Elected officials
in charge of selecting police would only select members in favor of their specific political party. They
would do this because they favored certain people to fill the role of a police officer who shared the
same core values, preferences and idealizations that pertained to their specific political party. Because
politicians were in charge of choosing whom they wanted to fill these roles they were also able to
obstruct the management and effected how departments operated. It was considered that there was no
consistency or efficiency within divisions and the primary focus of the police force was corruption
because of politics.

Analysis Of The Book Sensory Design
Vahid Farbod
Assignment 2 Journal Article Deconstruction
Malnar, Joy Monice and Frank Vodvarka. Sensory Design. Minneapolis: University of Minnesota
Press, 2004.
The book, Sensory Design published by Joy Monice Malnar and Frank Vodvarka in 2004, explores a
new multi sensory method of design for architects in 335 pages. The opening of the book starts with a
question What if we designed for all senses? Very similar to articles from Pallasmaa, the book leaves
the reader wanting to know more about this method although this book covered many topics and
included many references. Malnar is an associate professor at the University of Illinois, and Vodvarka
is an artist who wrote many articles on architectural history.
The book consists of twelve chapters that propose this idea that designers should explore the nature of
our senses response to the spatial built forms that people invest their time in. It tries to cover a specific
topic in each chapter that in order to deconstruct the book, it is necessary to cover each chapter
individually.
The opening chapter describes a sense of place through few examples. A place is perceived through
our sensory responses and cognitive memory which makes that space unique and special as a type.
The second chapter overlooks a series of art movements such as De Stijl, Bauhaus, Enlightenment,
CIAM, and the work of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This chapter attempts to find their
position on senses and the cultural memory. The authors

  • 3. Master Harold And The Boys Film Analysis How the film version capture the essence of the play The book Master Harold ...and the Boys, is a play written by Athol Fugard. It is about a boy, Hally, dealing with his abusive alcoholic father and his relationship with Sam, who is more of a father figure than his dad. The film adaptation of Athol Fugard s play directed by Lonny Price is an impactful piece of art and it truly compliments the play. In the scene of how we meet Hally who becomes concerned when he hears his dad is coming home from the hospital, we could see the director did such a great job at interpreting the play into a movie. What s significant about this scene is that it draws two major emotions joy and anger residing in the mind of Hally and it enhances the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The camera mainly follows Hally. Hally would move toward the camera while the camera pans up, revealing his main role in the film which also helps the audience to focus what is significant at that given moment. Over the shoulder shots were used when Hally and Sam were having a conversation. These shots helps to establish the positions of Hally and Sam. It shows how Hally truly feels about his father coming back from the hospital as well as how Sam tried to help Hally. The use low angle and high angle shots when Hally and Willie were about to play the shooting game place the audience into the scene. The High angle shot makes Hally seem like more powerful and the low angle shot makes Willie seem less powerful. It also makes the scene more dramatic. The scene took place inside the tea room. The room is decorated with pale yellow wallpapers to give it a 50s vibe and classic wooden table sets to create the retro atmosphere as in the play. The play was set around the apartheid, hence it makes sense to see some elements that are relevant to that era. Sam and Willie were wearing white waiter s coats and Hally was wearing a school uniform. The way Sam and Willie dress tells us that Sam is more like an important than Willie is because Willie dresses like he s doing more physical works and he actually was doing more physical works. • 4. Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid representation of death and its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the earth welcoming the speaker back into the realm of nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth and when we die, our bodies return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful image of what death is composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and disturbing. When individuals are presented with the thought of death, they often push this thought away out of fear and ignorance. Everyone will die someday whether we ignore the thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a relaxing and welcoming image for the reader on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver is still alive, she doesn t know what death feels like. However, the way she describes death, I hope that it feels like sleeping in a forest; full of stars and enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by the earth welcoming the speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so tenderly. This statement exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the earth is being portrayed as a woman. This is significant because women are often portrayed as being nurturing and caring. For the reader, this can trigger memories or ideas of who the reader would picture the earth as. Whether that be a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. the reader can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2016, top officials and diplomats from governments all over the world met at the United Nations headquarters to figure out what do to about the worldwide drug trafficking problem. Over various days of the discussions, they came to the conclusion to make a more extensive advancement and approach, but continue to keep conducting the war on drugs. They developed an outcome document that orders countries to restrict, prevent and conflict drug related crime. This will be done by disturbing the trafficking, production, manufacturing and cultivation of drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and other banned substances. The UN s data presents that the supply oriented stand to battling the trafficking of drugs has ld to a consistency of failure. The data also shows that even the billions of dollars that has been spent attempting to exterminate illicit crops, seize loads of drug produce and detain traffickers has led to more worldwide drug use and production than ever. It has also been noted that while these drug treaties continue to not be changes, the pace and evolution of organized crime has been moving right beside the global economy. Progression in transportation, technology and options of travel have been an addition to the capability and productivity of the global economy. To be exact, globalization has driven and fueled this bursted outbreak of the illegal drug trade. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
How Is Jay Gatsby Successful In the 1920 s, otherwise known as the Roaring 20 s , Americans believed [that] in order to live a life to the fullest, one would need to achieve their American dream. This idea of living a successful life is captured in Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby. The character that best portrays trying to achieve their American dream would be Jay Gatsby himself. For Gatsby, the American dream was to climb the rigorous social ladder to have enough wealth to impress his love, Daisy, and recreate the past where he can rekindle the love he and Daisy once had because he wishes to obtain Daisy s love once again. In a way, Gatsby is successful in their pursuit of the American Dream because he shared many tender moments between him and Daisy when they met again. For instance, His hand took hold of hers, and as she said something low in his ear he turned toward her with a rush of emotions (96). This relates to the American Dream since all he desired was to be with Daisy. It is obvious they are successful since Gatsby is in possession of an extravagant mansion. Furthermore, the clock almost shatters to the floor but was caught at the last second by Gatsby, showing that no matter what, time will never stop. • 12. Wednesday Wars By William Shakespeare The quality of mercy is not strained, is a line from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of Venice. This line is used in the book Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. This line means that people should not be forced to be kind or show mercy. Showing mercy is something that should happen naturally in humans and not be to benefit themselves or be forced to do it. It should come from the kindness of your heart. Relating to the plot line of Wednesday Wars, the mean old teacher, Mrs. Baker, shows mercy towards one of her students, Holling Hoodhood, when Holling brings in cream puffs for the whole class to eat, but the class rats eat and destroy all of the cream puffs. • 19. Slavery And Its Impact On The United States Essay Over the past 35 years a great change has occurred in the study of slavery and its impact on the settling of the New World. From a footnote in American history of little consequence until the cotton fields of the antebellum South, it has evolved into a study that now sees the institution as the most significant element in the colonization and exploitation of this hemisphere by Europeans. It also acknowledges the participation of Africans and the Amerindians in this process and furthermore sees it as essential to its occurrence. The added significance of the Atlantic system has created a more compelling picture and thrust slavery to the forefront of the story form the beginning of this historical era, in fact from before the moment Columbus encountered the Arawaks on Hispaniola. To understand the history of the settling of European America is to understand the role slavery played in the economic and political success of the one third of the migrants that arrived by choice at the expense of the two thirds that arrived in chains. The discussion of modern historians now centers on when and where did the transformation take place that brought ten to twelve million Africans to the Americas in bondage, how did the social structure change with their arrival, what effect did they have on the greater culture and in what ways were they able to create/maintain their own Creole African culture. • 24. Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both academically and socially. There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. Whooping cough is a disease that is specific only to humans and has a greater affect on children or those with a weak immune system. Those who already have a respiratory ailment such as COPD are also at a greater risk. The CDC states that whooping cough is caused by bacteria known as Bordetella pertussis. Little is known about this first structure except that it was still under construction in 480 B.C. when Persian forces sacked the city and demolished the Acropolis. The Parthenon is very famous, and tourists from all over the world visit this temple to contemplate the talent of past generations. In present times, we have Greece, which claims that the Elgin Marbles should be repatriated; on the other hand we have Britain, which currently possesses the Elgin Marbles displayed in the British Museum. The British Museum acquired these sculptures thanks to Lord Elgin, a British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Lord Elgin was passionate about the ancient Greek art. Between 1801 1805 he removed about half of the remaining sculptures back to Britain (BM web npg). This big dispute has garnered extensive media attention. Not all of the sculptures from the Parthenon are in the British Museum, even though a big portion of them are. You can also find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As this encompasses a study of both macroscopic and microscopic structures, a variety of histological tools have been developed to enable that endeavor Microscopy Microscopy is an important technique for studying the structure and function of the nervous system. This is enabled through the use of histological staining, in which a tissue of interest is preserved and sectioned, and then stained using one of an array of techniques. Histological staining provides contrast to the tissue so that details can be distinguished. For example, gray matter contains neuron cell bodies, or somata, that can be stained to become visible under a microscope. Nissl stains are useful for gray matter. It was dotted with buffalo wallows, and trails of the kind so familiar to Lewis and Clark, and the Mormons, who helped open the great western frontier. Danger and challenge were everywhere; but so was opportunity in the Homestead Act passed by Congress in 1862. For facing the rigors of the frontier life, the head of a family could obtain 160 acres of good black land if he could survive for five years and make some improvements. The post office was commissioned in 1868 at a log cabin built just east and north of the present town of Elmwood by David McCaig, who suggested that it be known to residents as Elmwood because of ... • 38. Similarities Between Lord Of The Flies And The Hunger Games District 12. Where you can starve to death in safety (6). This is a quote from the book The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, and it is a prime example of the dystopian society the book is set in. Another book set in a dystopian society is Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. The Hunger Games is a book about a society where every year, 24 people are sent to fight to the death in the Hunger Games. Lord of the Flies is about a big group of young children getting trapped on an island and having to figure out how to survive on their own without any adults. Both the novel Lord of The Flies and the book The Hunger Games present societies that are vicious and cruel, in similar settings, even though there are some differences between the two stories. One similarity between both books is the use of fire. At the beginning of Lord of the Flies fire is used to try to give a signal to passing ships that there are children trapped on the island. If a ship comes near the island they may not be able to notice us. So we must make smoke on top of the mountain. We must make a fire (33). At the beginning of The Hunger Games fire is used to gain the Capitol s attention during the ceremony where all tributes ride on chariots. I want the audience to recognize you when you re in the arena, says Cinna dreamily. Katniss, the girl who was on fire (67). In both situations, fire is used to gain attention of people who will be able to help them in the future, whether it s giving them a gift during the Games, or rescuing them. However, later on in the stories fire is used differently. At the end of Lord of the Flies, Jack s group uses fire to try to burn down the forest in order to find and kill Ralph. The fire was a big one and the drum roll that he had thought had left so far behind was nearer (182). This quote is from a part when Ralph is hiding in the currently burning down forest, trying to escape from Jack. In The Hunger Games, fire is used to burn down part of the arena for the Games, in order to bring Katniss closer to the other tributes. This fire is designed to flush us out, to drive us together (173). One difference between the two books is the idea of unique appearances. In Lord of the Flies, there is the ... Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2004. The book, Sensory Design published by Joy Monice Malnar and Frank Vodvarka in 2004, explores a new multi sensory method of design for architects in 335 pages. The opening of the book starts with a question What if we designed for all senses? Very similar to articles from Pallasmaa, the book leaves the reader wanting to know more about this method although this book covered many topics and included many references. Malnar is an associate professor at the University of Illinois, and Vodvarka is an artist who wrote many articles on architectural history. The book consists of twelve chapters that propose this idea that designers should explore the nature of our senses response to the spatial built forms that people invest their time in. It tries to cover a specific topic in each chapter that in order to deconstruct the book, it is necessary to cover each chapter individually. The opening chapter describes a sense of place through few examples. A place is perceived through our sensory responses and cognitive memory which makes that space unique and special as a type. The second chapter overlooks a series of art movements such as De Stijl, Bauhaus, Enlightenment, CIAM, and the work of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This chapter attempts to find their position on senses and the cultural memory. The authors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
