Fossil Fuels Is A Nonrenewable Resource
Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels is a nonrenewable resource found in many different locations such as Oman, Qatar,
Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Darussalam , Trinidad and Tobago, Bahrain, Algeria and Libya.
They are formed from the remains of fossil plant and animal life. We use fossil fuels to power our cars
and airplanes, medicine, makeup, and to run many different types of appliances. Many products that
are used everyday wouldn t be available without the oil and gas extracted and processed from fossil
fuels. Some advantages are being able to generate great amounts of electricity in one location, cost
efficient and reliable, coal is becoming more and more available as geologists are finding coal mines,
easily stored and transported from one place to another and new technology had been made to safely
extract fossil fuels. Some disadvantages are it gives off carbon dioxide causing the greenhouse effect,
which contributes to the global warming, mining of coal results in the destruction of wide areas,
extracting coal puts workers in danger of health problems, moving fossil fuels from one location to
another can involve leaks in oil tankers or ships that include toxic substances that puts marine life in
hazards and lastly, burning coal releases acid rain.
Solar Power
Solar Power is a renewable resource that is found in Los Angeles, California, San Diego, California
and Phoenix, Arizona. Solar power is created from the heat of the sun, which is then transferred into

Extremely Loud Incredibly Close By Jonathan Foer
I don t speak. I m sorry, (Foer 30) is a phrase frequently written by Thomas Schell Sr., a character in
Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, after he survives the traumatic Dresden bombing. Extremely Loud
Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer explores a different traumatic experience, the effect of Thomas Jr. s
death in 9/11 on his son Oskar. After his father s death, Oskar seeks understanding and comfort in his
search for the lock to fit the key left to him by his father. Similarly, Bruce Springsteen s album The
Rising examined the many ways people find comfort after a disaster, particularly after the 9/11
attacks. The common theme of seeking comfort after a loss is demonstrated in both Extremely Loud
Incredibly Close and The Rising as a literal journey and as a search for physical and emotional human
connection, although The Rising emphasizes finding comfort in religion.
Oskar Schell and the narrators of Further On (Up the Road) and Lonesome Day take a literal journey
to find comfort. Oskar s journey starts after finding an envelope containing a key with Black written
on the outside in his father s closet a year after his death. Because of the reconnaissance missions the
two frequently took together, Oskar believes it is a message to him and tries to stay connected with his
father by finding the lock. Indeed, he says, Every time I left our apartment to go searching for the
lock, I became a little lighter, because I was getting closer to Dad (Foer 52). As Oskar

Overview of American Heroes Cost of Living Allowance Act
American Heroes Cola Act American Heroes Cola Act Introduction A House subcommittee had made
the moved Wednesday April 18, 2012 to remove a small bit of doubt regarding the cost of living
adjustments in veterans disability and survivor aids by passing a bill that would deliver automatic
yearly increases that would actually start the beginning of next year. This paper will provide a
comprehensive overview of f HR 4142: The American Heroes Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) Act.
Part A: Legislation and Political Context: What is the Elevator Speech Overview? The American
Heroes COLAAct came into fruition on Wednesday April 19th, 2012. The House Veterans Affairs
Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs (DAMA) agreed to pass two bills that
affect veterans benefits. There is slight doubt that under present law, veterans are getting the same
COLA that is going to Social Security recipients. Once a year since 1983, Legislature has voted for,
and the sitting president has authorized, a bill that guarantees that veterans disability payment and
survivors dependency and security reimbursement increases on Dec. 1 by the same percentage as
Social Security. American Heroes Cola Act would requires the Secretary of the Department of
Veterans Affairs to automatically increase the rates of veterans disability income, compensation for
dependents, clothing allowance, and reimbursement for veterans surviving next of kin and children at
the same rate that Social

A Brief History Of Dallas
Little more than a century after Dallas was founded in 1841, the population had exceeded 425,000
people; by the time another 60 years had passed, more than 1.2 million people resided within the city
limits of Dallas. The population continues to grow, making Dallas one of the nation s fastest growing
municipalities. Such explosive growth requires housing for the residents and commercial buildings for
new and expanding businesses. At Alpha Roofing, we help people in Dallas make sure that the roofs
covering their homes and businesses can keep them secure. We install asphalt shingles, commercial
roofs, metal roofing systems, flat roofs, gutters, attic insulation, skylights and siding. We also offer an
extensive range of repair services.

Businesses could lose their inventory and important documents, while homeowners could lose
cherished heirlooms or irreplaceable photographs. If you want to ensure that your structure has a roof
that will provide proper protection, you may be in need of one or more of the following services
offered by Alpha Roofing.
Residential Roofing: An aged roof may need a complete replacement, but there are many roofs that
suffer hail and wind damage that can be repaired for much less money. If a few shingles have been
blown off or cracked by hail, the flashing has been broken or there is evidence that a leak has
developed, you might want to consider a professional repair. At Alpha, we handle roof repairs, install
asphalt shingles, repair chimneys and install gutters and siding.
Commercial Roofing: The integrity of the roof on a commercial building is critical if you want to
protect the building s contents as well as the safety of customers, employees and tenants. Many
commercial buildings in Dallas use modified bitumen systems for their flat roofs, but if these systems
are installed incorrectly, they can fail quickly. Commercial buildings with sloping roofs often complex
lines, turrets or other architectural features that require a roofing company with the skills and facilities
for metal fabrication. Whether you need custom panels, gutters, attic vents or special accessories,
Alpha Roofing has the personnel and equipment to

The Global War to the Great Depression
A horrific global war led to an equally heinous economic recession, triggering global fear and lack of
guidance. World leaders stood to the challenge of mending the shattered 100 year peace and economy
in Europe. America, it seemed, desired no part in this scramble for order, turning its back to the
international world. Through the Great War to the Great Depression, the transforming world not only
caused America to withdraw from the world, but also allowed Franklin Delano Roosevelt an
opportunity to refine all aspects of American standards and life. Despite only a brief participation in
the Great War, a diplomatically satiated America swiftly closed its doors to the international world.
However, this was not without good reason; according to Alan Brinkley, the United States government
had appropriated $32 billion for expenses directly relating to the conflict (621). At over 90% of the
national gross domestic product at the time, war expenses were an uncomfortable cost to American
leaders who, in addition to the post WWI recession where millions lost their jobs, decided America
needed a break internationally (Brinkley 621 632). Not only did America refuse to ratify the Treaty of
Versailles and the League of Nations, they disarmed military forces, severely limited immigration, and
passed one of the highest tariffs in United States history (Kennedy). As a result, the prosperous roaring
twenties involved not only economic growth and consumerism but also massive cultural

Ex Convicts Research Paper
Imagine the person standing in front of you at the grocery store is an ex convict that was serving a life
sentence for murder, only to be paroled and released back into society. These offenders are living next
door to family, watching children playing in the streets, and maybe working beside you; all while you
have no idea of the person s history of deceit and being convicted of a crime; some of those crimes
being so heinous that it is unspeakable that the ex convict could be living within the society. The
crimes of rape and murder have been committed by so many ex convicts that are walking within
society as if they have never committed such crimes, yet here they are living back in the world where
they created such chaos and dismay. The process

Frida Kahlo Vs Jacques Derrida
It can be argued that Frida Kahlo is a painter that challenged the ideas pertaining to gender, race, and
sexuality. She is known for questioning the essence of these identities. Kahlo famously painted
depictions which show her questioning and exploring her own identity. When looking at her whole
body of work, it is apparent that Kahlo was interested in gender and racial constructs. Frida Kahlo s
painting, Diego and Frida, 1929 1944 is one visual example of how Frida Kahlo was an artist that
challenged ideas surrounding gender, race, and sexuality. This painting can be seen through the lens of
deconstruction to offer a deeper insight into its meaning. Vernon Minor and Jacques Derrida are art
theorists that have also speculated about deconstruction. These two both made an argument that
deconstruction is made stronger when direct opposites are used. ... Show more content on

Deconstruction at its core is an act that ask questions for the sake of asking questions. This is so
because deconstruction is not about reaching a conclusion. Rather, deconstruction seeks to expand
questioning in order to expand perception. Jacques Derrida points out, that there is no such thing as
true deconstruction. Derrida states that every decoding is another encoding It is important to note that
in so saying this, Derrida has fundamentally defining a key characteristic of decoding. There is no way
to truly decode as there is always a naturally occurring need to seek to define what has been decoded.
This, however, is not the goal of decoding. The true aim of decoding is to continually ask questions in
order to raise new questions thus, new understanding. Diego and Frida 1929 1944 contains specific
points of reference within the painting that allude to decoding. In particular, Frida Kahlo uses binary
opposites as imagery in this

The Principles And Ethical Strategy Of Management
Ethics are important in an organizations structure. This is something that usually starts with the leaders
and trickle down to other employees in the company. The leader of an organization needs to how to
get the right people for the job. Leaders have to pick people that put emphasis on what is right and
people that want to help others. Ethics and morals play a huge part in the success of a company. The
organization must have leaders that can create and execute an ethical strategy for the company.
Setting the tone at the top is the best way to create and execute ethical strategy. Management has the
responsibility of making sure that the company is run effectively and efficiently. The principles and
ethical strategy of management builds a foundation and determines the purpose of the organization.
This should include honesty, truth, morals and integrity. Everyone within the organization should be
aiming for the same goals from an ethical stand point. Management has a very important role in the
ethical development of the company.
Next, the leaders should establish a standard of conduct. The leaders and management have to be
committed to focusing on operating under an ethical standard of conduct. Organizational culture
determines whether the company acts in an ethical matter. According to Gamble and Thomas 2011,
The fallout of ethical misconduct on the part of a company goes well beyond just the costs of making
amends for the misdeeds. Buyers shun companies known

The And Criminal Cases Evidence
In both civil and criminal cases evidence is used in order to prove a particular fact about a case.
Evidence can either be direct or circumstantial. Direct evidence establishes a particular fact without
the need to make an inference where circumstantial evidence an inference is needed to be made in
order to connect the evidence to a particular fact of the case.
Definition
Circumstantial evidence is defined as evidence which may allow a judge or jury to deduce a certain
fact from other facts in which have been proven. Meaning, the witness or whoever is giving the
evidence is describing circumstances to which they observed. It is indirect evidence, from which then
the trier of fact, that could either be the judge or the jury depending on the type of court the matter is
being addressed in, can logically infer the existence of the material fact. From these definitions, it is
clear that circumstantial evidence is not straightforward. There is a chain of facts that need to be
followed so that a logical conclusion from a dispute between parties can be made when there is no
direct evidence. Due to the fact that there is no direct evidence, the trier of fact must then make a
logical jump or inference to reach their conclusions about the evidence that has been brought forth.
Circumstantial evidence relies heavily on the use of inference to connect the facts to the conclusion.
Meaning, a conclusion is being reached just on the circumstantial evidence that is being brought forth

The Kuiper Belt
More and more is being learned about the Kuiper Belt showing us that it is an interesting part of our
galaxy that may help us better understand how our solar system was formed. The existence of what
became known as the Kuiper Belt was first suggested by astronomer Kenneth Edgeworth in 1943. He
suggested that, comets and other larger bodies might exist past Neptune. Several years later in 1951,
astronomer Gerard Kuiper predicted the existence of icy objects that formed a belt just beyond the
orbit of Neptune. This became known as the Kuiper Belt or less commonly known as the Edgeworth
Kuiper Belt and is thought to contain objects leftover during the formation of our solar system. The
actual existence of the Kuiper Belt was not confirmed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the discovery of the first large KBO, 1992QB1, in 1992 by Jane Luu and David Jewitt (jew it), a
few others have been identified. In 2004 using better telescopes, astronomers discovered another KBO
which they named Sedna. This was followed by discoveries in 2005 and 2008. In 2005 a KBO slightly
smaller than Pluto was identified and named Eris. It was the discovery of Eris which has its own moon
that led to Pluto being reclassified as a dwarf planet rather than the ninth planet in our solar system. In
2008 two more objects categorized as dwarf planets were discovered. One is named Makemake after
the Polynesian creation god and the other is named Haumea after the Hawaiian goddess of fertility and
childbirth. The distance from Earth and the small size of the objects in the Kuiper Belt make them
very difficult to see and study. To get a closer look at the objects, the first mission to the Kuiper Belt
was launched in 2006 by NASA. The New Horizons spacecraft had reached Pluto about 10 years later
in 2015 providing the first up close glimpse of a Kuiper belt object. The New Horizons spacecraft
continues to push further into the Kuiper Belt and information from this exploration is still being
analyzed.
The study of Kuiper Belt will likely continue to provide more information on how our solar system
was formed and its origins. The material in the Kuiper Belt are what s left over after the rocks, dust

Pseudoscience In The Stars
Pseudoscience In The Stars Each and every human being on earth has a complex personality that is
unique to them. There has been much debate over what actually determines the phenomenon that is
personality. While many believe that genes contribute to personality and character traits, according to
a Harris Poll in 2009, 26% of people have a very different belief (Currey). This portion of the
population believe that the stars and planets are actually the essential factors. This pseudoscientific
belief is known as astrology. Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ordinary Portland Cement
General
Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is most widely used cementitious material and is the second most
consumed resource in the world as it forms the basic ingredient in concrete and Bricklayer Joseph
Aspdin of Leeds, England first prepared Portland cement early in the 19th century by sweltering
powdered limestone and clay in his kitchen stove [13]; this laid the foundation for an industry to
develop a binder called ordinary Portland cement. The major applications of concrete in the
construction field such as infrastructure, habitation and transportation have greatly influenced in
affecting the economic progress by improving the stability and quality of life to a very wide extent.
However, inherent disadvantages are that production of Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) using raw
materials such as limestone and clay are depleting and quarrying of them is causing the source for
environmental degradation. OPC production involves a very high energy intensive and exothermic
process, as because it consumes 4Gj energy and produces about one ton of carbon dioxide, where it
significantly contributes to 5% of global carbon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

combustible elements of the coal are scalded at the elevated temperatures, whereas the mineral

molten ash enters the flue gas and by lowering the temperature rapidly the ash turns into spherical,

Organism, Community And Ecosystem Approaches To Study Ecology
1.) When taking the organism, population, community and ecosystem approaches to study ecology one
needs consider that there are levels that layout the specific details of what each approach is. For
organism approach, the processes look at the way an individual live in an environment and how this
individual behaves and adaption within its surrounding. The population approach concerns over a
group of organisms, the number of female and male, the differences within organisms, the similarity
that they share, and their genetic makeup within a whole population. The processes and structures to
understand the community deal with understanding of the diversity and different groups of organisms
living in the same place. The ecosystem approach looks at the overall chemical reaction which is the
transfer of energy and matter to make life possible. The processes occur in the atmosphere, aquatic,
and on land.
2.) In the Northern Hemisphere, many species of birds fly south during the autumn months because

The Importance Of The Flipped Classroom
The motivation to examine the flipped classroom as a theme of investigation originates from this
present creator s advantage and mastery in utilizing innovation and how it can be utilized to draw in
and upgrade the classroom condition today. Most secondary school seniors were conceived and grew
up concurrent with the introduction of cell phones, youtube, myspace, facebook, snapchat and
instagram. With the advances in innovation regularly, one starts to contemplate what is the eventual
future of education. Flipped classroom turned into an enthusiasm of mine since it includes utilizing
online videos and it can possibly furnish educators with additional time in the classroom to provide
learning experiences that will reinforce the skills needed by the 21st Century student.
Why the Flipped Classroom
Research has demonstrated that the classroom educator can have the largest impact on gains in student
learning (Marzano, Pickering, Pollack, 2001). Marzano et al. (2001) provided teachers with many
different research based strategies for increasing student achievement. In later research, (Marzano,
2007) went on to say, Arguably, keeping students engaged is one of the most important considerations
for the classroom teacher (Marzano, 2007 p. 98). He additionally states that engaging students have
become increasingly difficult with the influence of a society with fast paced media and video games.

Leo Fender s Major Accomplishments
On August 10,1909 in Anaheim, California an amazing soon to be mechanic and founder of one of the
world s most recognizable guitar companies was born Clarence Leonidas Fender, better known as Leo
Fender.
The funny thing is that Leo Fender the founder of the world s most recognizable guitar company who
made guitars for a living never learned to play the guitar, he was a mechanic and a saxophonist.
Fender started his electronic hobby in his early teens. It all started when his uncle mailed him a box. It
contained a car battery and broken radio parts. Not knowing what to do with them, Leo set off to Santa
Maria, California to visit his uncle s mechanic shop. When Leo entered the shop, he was fascinated

With Kauffman s experience and Fender s love for mechanics, he was convinced they would make a

they started the K F Manufacturing Corporation . There they built and designed Hawaiian guitars and

Their greatest success was in 1948 when they created the Fender Broadcaster. It was the first mass

Three years later (1951), he made the Fender Precision Bass. It is a solid body, four stringed bass that
is outfitted with a single split coil humbucking pickup and 20 fret neck. This set the trend for most

To What Extent Does Dry Ice Sublimate In The Fastest
Background Research The topic of my experiment is which substance dry ice will sublimate in the
fastest. Dry ice changes its state from solid to gas when reacting to a substance, therefore a different
substance will have a different reaction time. The independent variable is the different substances
which are whole milk, water, vegetable oil, and Sprite. The dependent variable is the sublimation of
the dry ice in seconds. The constants are the amount of substance each container has, amount of dry
ice, the type of container they are put into. The control group is the container with the water in it.
According to the internet, there are no experiments identical to this one. There is one that is very

Its Chemical formula is CO2. The liquid form of carbon dioxide has to be contained in a very high
pressured container and is fit difficult to acquire. Dry ice has a reaction to any substance once it is
taken out of its container that, that reaction is called sublimation. Sublimation is a chemical process
where a solid turns into a gas without going to a solid state. The most likely reason the speed of
sublimation will vary is because of the density and viscosity of the substance. Viscosity is the property
of resistance to flow in a fluid or semi fluid ( Merriam Webster.com ). Density is how packed together
something is. Given this information about dry ice and sublimation, the rate of any substance can vary
in many ways. Therefore, if dry ice is placed in the thinnest liquid with the least density then it will
have the fastest sublimation right because the reaction will happen sooner than a liquid with a higher
density and a thinker

The Heart Of Evil In Shakespeare s King Lear
Shakespeare s King Lear
In The Tragedy of King Lear, Shakespeare depicts a knot of characters, each of whom is intent on
achieving his or her aims by any means necessary. The main protagonist King Lear is at the heart of
evil in the play, as David Beauregard asserts (204). Lear irresponsibly divides his kingdom, gives it
away to emerging chaos, and behaves as a tyrant throughout the play. In Lear, Shakespeare creates a
complex character, which deserves the misfortunes that he brings upon himself. However, Edmond,
the illegitimate son of the Earl of Gloucester, is an outright villain. His misdeeds are the cunningly
planned crimes, unlike Lear s impertinent mistreatment of the people. Beauregard further defines the
injustice described in King Lear as the result of human evil (217). This play s tragedy is not in Lear s
pitiful position, but in the malign state of mind of people who manipulate others, as Lear and Edmond.
In the first scene of the play, Gloucester introduces Edmond to the Earl of Kent as his favorite son
(1.1.15 16). Still, Edmond is not content with his father s love and recognition. Meredith Skura
describes Edmond as this play s villain who maims and murders, defies religion and family bonds
(127). Edmond openly claims that he wants his legitimate brother s property and status (1.2.15 18).
This villain constructs a plot to slander his brother Edgar in front of his father to gain Edgar lands and
status.

permanent solution to his agony in the death of his wife. This relates to the inference that Edgar Allan
Poe writes to show the downsides of love because the only way for his agony to be cured was for the
love of live, his wife, to die. The love that he had for his wife caused him to be in pain when ever she
was ill which is a downside of live that he writes about. In the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe it
is written, From my books surcease of sorrow sorrow for the lost Lenore For the rare and radiant
maiden whom the angels name Lenore Nameless here for evermore. The narrator is morning the loss
of his love Lenore. This supports the inference that Poe writes to tells us of the downsides of love
because the narrator is talking about how the death of his love is causing him to mourn for her which
is a downside of love. Poe also writes, And the only word there spoken was the whispered word,

Last of the Mohicans Movie Review Essay example
The last of the Mohicans review The last of the Mohicans was a movie that really appealed to me from
the beginning because of the heroism and the action into it. The main characters in this movie were
Daniel day Lewis as Nathanial Poe (Hawkeye) and Madeline Stowe as Cora Munro. The movie could
be described as a romantic action like a Spiderman or a superman movie always needs the girl to give
motivation to the main character but it is a historical drama. The movie was 112 minutes long, it
contains three languages English, French and Mohawk, it was filmed in the USA, it was released in
September 1992 and its tagline was the first American hero, it is also based on the novel of James
Fennimore cooper. It is about the French and British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Natives in this movie are seen as weaklings and they were only used for their cunning fighting
strategies and also their resources like food and homes, the French and British did not care about the
natives they only cared about how they could get more land and more powerful, although the natives
allied with the French or the British they still disliked them for what they were doing to their homes
and culture. The movie does not harm the native s picture to the world because they were the ones
who were weak and hurt in the movie it gave people something to think about like how the English
and French could do this to the natives and what are the consequences of the actions that were taken
by the French or the British. The movie also gives the feeling of sympathy towards the natives and
fills you up with hatred towards the Europeans who invaded the natives land. The movie also shows
us the way the natives dressed which were just long pieces of cloths and leather pants which were cut
off at the crouch for a relaxed fit, also the way they ate which was hunting deer and elk and gathering
berries and vegetables, it also showed their language and a little spiritual scenes when they shot an elk.

The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms
The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms
Human activities add another layer of complexity to the natural processes of coastal lands and
materials. These activities may have direct or indirect effects on our changing coastlines. They may
effect sources of new sediment to the coast and the movement of sediment within the coastal
environment.
Sediment starvation caused by river and coastal management is one effect of human activities on the
coast. For some coastal regions, such as the Pacific coast, a large part of their sediment is supplied by
rivers. Dams built for flood control and water catchment along the rivers leading to these coasts inhibit
the transport of large grained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leaves the sand dunes more susceptible to erosion causing blowouts and disrupting the succession
of vegetation in the area. This has been a problem at Studland Bay in Dorset on the south coast of
England. Persistent human leisure activities on the dunes has led to substantial erosion in some parts
of these dunes which has meant that Management programs have had to been introduced by English
Nature.
Sand dunes help absorb the pounding of high waves and reduce overwash flooding in storms. It has
become common for sand dunes to be bulldozed to improve the views to the sea. However this
destroys the natural protection of the coast.
Human activities such as water transport also can cause problems for coastal areas. The dredging of
navigation channels and the discharging of the material in deep water to enable larger ships to travel
though water channels removes sediment from the coastal system leaving the area susceptible to
erosion and will also interfere with longshore drift which will prevent the coastal beach landforms
from being maintained such as the development of a spit. It is likely that a spit will be eroded and start
to regress in conditions such as these. An example is Spurn head Spit. Spurn head is lcated, on the
humber Estuary in North East England. The growth

Scout s Childhood Simplicity in Harper Lee’s To Kill a...
The adult world is a cold and terrifying place. There are robberies, shootings, murders, suicides, and
much more. If you were to be a small child, perhaps age 5, and you were to look in at this world, you
would never know how bad it actually was, just from a single glance. Children have a small slice of
ignorant bliss, which helps to keep them away from the harsh of reality. It isn t until later, when they
encounter something that opens their eyes and shows them, that they truly start to understand the
world we live it. Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird shows the many differences between the
simplicity of being a kid and the tough decisions and problems that adults must face every day.

Bob Yule is a very corrupt character. He beats his daughter, he doesn t care for his children, and in the
end of the book he tries to harm Scout and Jem, just because their father defended a black man in
court. Once his mind is made up, he will not change his course of action, which leads to his own
demise. We do not know where Mr. Yule went wrong, or when he changed, but we do have in
comparison his daughter, Mayella. She was simply following her father s lead in court, and though she
lied under oath, she still had a certain amount of innocence. She did not have a vicious or malicious
intent, but more as a scared girl. She was scared of her father and of what he would do to her if she
didn t comply with his commands. Though these reasons are not to be used as excuses for her
behavior, they give a little bit of insight into the mind of a teenager. She was simply looking out for
her own well being, not that of another, which is a common thing for people to do.
Though it would seem like the adult world is distorted, there are some parts that are not the same as
the parts where Bob Yule lives. This would be in Atticus Finch s house. Atticus may be an adult but he
is not corrupt by any means. He is an honest man, who happens to sometimes have a dishonest job. In
the case of Tom Robinson, he has an honest job and must

Frantz Fanon In The Wretched Of The Earth
Influence on social theory from movements of decolonisation that challenged colonial rule against the
third world. One of the key thinkers of these movements was the Martinique born intellectual and
revolutionary Frantz Fanon. Frantz Fanon (1926 1961) is widely considered one of the most important
theorists of the twentieth century on race, racism, and colonialism. Fanon supported the Algerian war
of independence from French colonialism as he worked in Algeria as a psychiatrist during the war, and
he was a member of the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN). This essay will attempt to critically
discuss Fanon s account of the development of the colonised intellectual s consciousness and the
relationship to the struggle for national liberation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to the colonial situation, the Marxian analysis must be slightly stretched to deal with
these realities (Fanon, The Wretched of The Earth, 1963). When he states this he is not saying that the
Marxian analysis should be abandoned, revised or ignored. He was trying to deal with realities that the
Marxist tradition often overlooked, such as the role the peasantry that is more than simply an auxiliary
to the working class, a critique of the national bourgeoisie and its relationship to the proletariat and his
rejection of a two staged theory of revolution. On these issues, Fanon may be said to be more in tune
with Marx than many of Marx s followers. After Marx published volume one of his greatest
theoretical work, he denied that he had ever developed a universal theory that is applicable to every
society on earth. He also specifically limited his delineation of the historical tendency of capitalist
accumulation to Western Europe alone and in his white writings on Russia and elsewhere, he
emphasised the possibility that these non Western underdeveloped societies could get to socialism
without having to go through capitalist industrialisation. When you look at Marx s work you find that
he is not simply adopting a formula that he extracts from his earlier work in studying Europe, and then
simply tries to put it on to the rest of the developing world

Sylvia Plath
In Sylvia Plath s Daddy, and Lady Lazarus, Plath displays her deepest emotions and concerns. Her
beliefs completely contradicts her fathers so she has to deal with a lot of negative emotions throughout
her life. Both of these poems were both written at the end of Plath s life and really show her state of
mind. Throughout her poems, we are able to see the motivation behind her feelings and her suicide
attempts. Daddy, and Lady Lazarus, by Sylvia Plath are the closing notes to Plath s grudges towards
her father, her husband, and many other things.

collaborations, and her mental status. Sylvia Plath s relationship with her father is ... Show more

In lines 43 47 she says that she dies exceptionally well and she does it as though it feels real. This
indicated that she is indeed depressed and feels dead to the world and to herself (Plath 1). On the other
side, in lines 79 83 of Lady Lazarus, Plath says, Herr God, Herr Lucifer. Beware beware. Out of the
ash I rise with my red hair (Plath 1). She says this as if she has risen from the dead. This could be
symbolic of her overcoming her feelings towards he father and moving on with her life. Herr is
German for mister, so in complete English, Plath is saying, Mister God, Mister Lucifer... She
symbolically tells God and Lucifer to beware, because she is rising from the dead with her red hair.
After all of this time, Sylvia Plath s burdens eventually became too heavy for her to carry, and she
eventually reaches her breaking point. Daddy, and Lady Lazarus, were her last works before she
breaks down. Although she had attempted to kill herself many times before, her attempt on February
11, 1963 was different. She succeeded in her suicide attempt on February 11, 1963, leaving behind her

Public Choice Theory And Public Choice Theory
Public choice or public choice theory means the use of economic tools to deal with traditional
problems of political science, it also tries to explain how public decision are made. It is directed
towards the study of politics based on the economic principles. The public choice theory is a strong
variant of the rational choice theory. The theory is concerned with the provision of so called public
goods, goods that are delivered by government rather than the market, because, as with air, their
benefit cannot be withheld from individuals who choose not to contribute to their provision. What lies
at the heart of public choice theory is the self interest maximization theory. Public choice works hand
in glove with economics. Economics is the study of individual presences and the interaction of those
preferences with firms in market settings. As South Africa keeps on endeavouring toward protected
change, it appears to be suitable to inspect regularizing open decision hypothesis for bits of knowledge
that may be pertinent toward the South African established process. Regulating open decision,
regularly called established financial matters, involves a similar examination of the standards and
organizations that represent financial, social and political interactions. Constitutional financial matters
augments the business sector trade worldview to the investigation of tenets and organizations. There is

Othello Illusion Vs Reality Essay
Every day we are constantly meeting new people and with meeting new people comes new
personalities. Some may be our friend while others may be hypocritical. But at the end true colors are
revealed. Illusion verses reality is one of the many themes expressed in Othello by William
Shakespeare. There are many examples shown through the character Othello where the misconception
of illusion and reality leads to misfortune. This is displayed when Othello develops an outrageous
jealousy due to Iago manipulating him, or when there s irrelevant hatred created between Othello and
Cassio because of these manipulations. When Iago s schemes work it fools Othello s gullible
personality, resulting in him doubting his love for Desdemona. William Shakespeare ... Show more

Due to Iago s perception of Othello being naïve, Iago uses his phenomenal understanding of the
human psyche as his ability to orchestrate pre planned scenarios. Iago is successfully and carefully
able to manipulate Othello s thoughts into thinking Desdemona has been unfaithful and that it was
false love. I called my love false love, but what he said then? (IV, iii, 59) This is significant because
Desdemona is beginning to realize that the love Othello had for her must have been false she s worried
that Othello will leave her. Due to Othello s inability to differentiate between delusion and reality it s
bringing forth disaster leading to their relationship suffering. Othello being able to trust people easily
allowed Iago s words to manipulate him into making a tremendously poor decision which was killing
Desdemona. Put out the light, and then put out the light, (V,ii, 7) This quote is paramount because
Othello blows out the candle just before he strangles Desdemona which symbolizes Desdemona s
fragile life and because he is so manipulated by Iago there is no turning back and he is ready to kill
her. Othello muses that the difference between Desdemona s life and a candle s light is that he can put
out and relight the candle but he cannot bring Desdemona back to life. The thought of not being able
to bring Desdemona back to life did not stop him from murdering Desdemona,

Comparing The Bell Jar And The Catcher In The R
The Bell Jar is a partly fictionalized autobiographical account of author Sylvia Plath s life. Plath,
personified as Esther Greenwood details the inequality and expectations of a young woman in 1950s
American society on her journey to find purpose. The Bell Jar holds many similarities to J. D. Salinger
s The Catcher in the Rye, both detailing the difficulties of growing up and all that comes along with it,
with The Bell Jar specifically exploring a more feminine side of adolescence. Themes of women s
rights in The Bell Jar are documented in depth by Plath throughout the novel holding relevance to the
context of the novel s setting as well as the current day state of women s rights. These key ideas are
harmful societal expectations of a woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buddy immortalizes everything that the atypical breadwinning man of the 1950s was masculine,
religious, attractive and promising in his studies. The mistreatment of women in 1950s era America is
embodied in Buddy s views on Esther s own ambitions of being a famous poet or a brilliant professor.
Buddy dismisses her, saying in a sinister, knowing way that after I [Esther] had children I would feel
differently, I wouldn t want to write poems any more. Under the guise of the perfect man withdraws
his true bigoted attitude. The subversion, almost mockery of Esther s goals serves as an observation of
the truly smug prick Buddy is, carrying a bloated self importance and complete disregard for Esther s
own aspirations. Buddy s ignorant persona has been purposefully crafted by Plath as a personification
of society s own attitudes toward women. The underminement of female capability can be attributed to
influence of the patriarcal hand alike that of Buddy on Esther, but to a larger scale. This attitude as a
result has been ingrained in our own society s cultures. As a female student, I can see the clear
gendered divide because of the lack of positive expectations put on youth. I can identify the favouring
of males in certain educational courses or jobs, as well as the conventional roles placed on women
again referring to the stereotypical male

Alinsky s Rules For Radicals Analysis
Alinsky s rules for radicals were written by Saul Alinsky in 1972. The rules were created to develop a
process for organization. Alinsky s rules were broken into two different types, tactics with 13 rules and
ends and means with 11 rules. The four rules I chose to discuss were from the tactics list of rules.
Alinsky s rules for radicals are applicable in many ways and also are somewhat biased. The first rule I
chose was the seventh rule of tactics, Alinsky states, A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a
drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues. . I agree with the purpose of
this rule because people need variety in an organization or else they get bored. People need any kind
of variations of work that they can get within an organization over a prolonged period of time in order
to stay productive and efficient. Variation also allows for the members of an organization to gain
additional experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree with this rule because we, as human beings, are prone to over complicate a simple situation.
For example, we look at a situation, we then get overwhelmed by it, then, when the situation is over,
we feel as though we shouldn t have been worried about the situation at all. A Biblical example of this
tactic is in Genesis 3, starting in verse 1 by saying Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the
wild animals that the Lord God made and finishing in verse 15 by the Lord saying to the serpent He
will strike your head and you will strike his heel (HCSB). At first, the serpents description makes him
seem very intimidating but within the same chapter the serpent was told how he will meet his ends,
which discredits any prior intimidation that the serpent had. This tactic is true for all organizations
because despite how difficult a challenge may seem, people are more than likely willing to help if they

Strange Fruit Poem Analysis
In the music video/song Strange Fruit , the phrase strange fruit doesn t really refer to a fruit that is
strange. It actually refers to people being lynched and hanging from trees. More specifically, the term
strange fruit applies to the lynching of African Americans. This song was performed by Billie Holiday
in 1939 at the Cafe Society in New York. The music video was actually a recorded performance from
1959. The song was written and performed because the purpose of was to raise awareness and fight
against African American lynching because during that time, African Americans were being
discriminated and abused. Billie Holiday in the music video/song Strange Fruit displays logos through
context and imagery, pathos through her sorrowful tone and facial expressions, and lastly, ethos
because she won many awards during her career in singing, and Strange Fruit is one of them. The
lyrics of the song have contains a handful of imagery describing African Americans being lynched.
For example, Blood on the leaves and blood on the root , is a very descriptive example and puts an
image in your mind of seeing a tree with African Americans hanging with blood dripping from their
bodies (genius.com). This line makes it seem like the blood that is dripping from the people hanging is
feeding the tree s root, and this could symbolize growth because America was a growing country back
then and still is today. Back then, African Americans were physically and mentally abused, and the
point of the song was to put an end to that and it did eventually. Today, African Americans are still
being discriminated for job opportunities because of stereotypes people made that make African
Americans look bad. Throughout the course of time, we did make changes, which relates to the line,
Blood on the leaves and blood on the root . Another line the depicts a very cruel image is, Here is fruit
for crows to pluck (genius.com) This line has a very dark meaning and image because crows always
symbolize evil and darkness. The fact that this line puts a picture of bodies being devoured by crows
in your mind, proves that Holiday uses very strong imagery in the context of Strange Fruit. From these
two lines from the song, we learned that

Fossil Fuels Is A Nonrenewable Resource Fossil Fuels Fossil fuels is a nonrenewable resource found in many different locations such as Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Darussalam , Trinidad and Tobago, Bahrain, Algeria and Libya. They are formed from the remains of fossil plant and animal life. We use fossil fuels to power our cars and airplanes, medicine, makeup, and to run many different types of appliances. Many products that are used everyday wouldn t be available without the oil and gas extracted and processed from fossil fuels. Some advantages are being able to generate great amounts of electricity in one location, cost efficient and reliable, coal is becoming more and more available as geologists are finding coal mines, easily stored and transported from one place to another and new technology had been made to safely extract fossil fuels. Some disadvantages are it gives off carbon dioxide causing the greenhouse effect, which contributes to the global warming, mining of coal results in the destruction of wide areas, extracting coal puts workers in danger of health problems, moving fossil fuels from one location to another can involve leaks in oil tankers or ships that include toxic substances that puts marine life in hazards and lastly, burning coal releases acid rain. • 3. Extremely Loud Incredibly Close By Jonathan Foer I don t speak. I m sorry, (Foer 30) is a phrase frequently written by Thomas Schell Sr., a character in Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, after he survives the traumatic Dresden bombing. Extremely Loud Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer explores a different traumatic experience, the effect of Thomas Jr. s death in 9/11 on his son Oskar. After his father s death, Oskar seeks understanding and comfort in his search for the lock to fit the key left to him by his father. Similarly, Bruce Springsteen s album The Rising examined the many ways people find comfort after a disaster, particularly after the 9/11 attacks. The common theme of seeking comfort after a loss is demonstrated in both Extremely Loud Incredibly Close and The Rising as a literal journey and as a search for physical and emotional human connection, although The Rising emphasizes finding comfort in religion. Oskar Schell and the narrators of Further On (Up the Road) and Lonesome Day take a literal journey to find comfort. Oskar s journey starts after finding an envelope containing a key with Black written on the outside in his father s closet a year after his death. Because of the reconnaissance missions the two frequently took together, Oskar believes it is a message to him and tries to stay connected with his father by finding the lock. Indeed, he says, Every time I left our apartment to go searching for the lock, I became a little lighter, because I was getting closer to Dad (Foer 52). As Oskar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper will provide a comprehensive overview of f HR 4142: The American Heroes Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) Act. Part A: Legislation and Political Context: What is the Elevator Speech Overview? The American Heroes COLAAct came into fruition on Wednesday April 19th, 2012. The House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs (DAMA) agreed to pass two bills that affect veterans benefits. There is slight doubt that under present law, veterans are getting the same COLA that is going to Social Security recipients. Once a year since 1983, Legislature has voted for, and the sitting president has authorized, a bill that guarantees that veterans disability payment and survivors dependency and security reimbursement increases on Dec. 1 by the same percentage as Social Security. American Heroes Cola Act would requires the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs to automatically increase the rates of veterans disability income, compensation for dependents, clothing allowance, and reimbursement for veterans surviving next of kin and children at the same rate that Social ... • 6. The Global War to the Great Depression A horrific global war led to an equally heinous economic recession, triggering global fear and lack of guidance. World leaders stood to the challenge of mending the shattered 100 year peace and economy in Europe. America, it seemed, desired no part in this scramble for order, turning its back to the international world. Through the Great War to the Great Depression, the transforming world not only caused America to withdraw from the world, but also allowed Franklin Delano Roosevelt an opportunity to refine all aspects of American standards and life. Despite only a brief participation in the Great War, a diplomatically satiated America swiftly closed its doors to the international world. However, this was not without good reason; according to Alan Brinkley, the United States government had appropriated $32 billion for expenses directly relating to the conflict (621). At over 90% of the national gross domestic product at the time, war expenses were an uncomfortable cost to American leaders who, in addition to the post WWI recession where millions lost their jobs, decided America needed a break internationally (Brinkley 621 632). Not only did America refuse to ratify the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations, they disarmed military forces, severely limited immigration, and passed one of the highest tariffs in United States history (Kennedy). As a result, the prosperous roaring twenties involved not only economic growth and consumerism but also massive cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Frida Kahlo Vs Jacques Derrida It can be argued that Frida Kahlo is a painter that challenged the ideas pertaining to gender, race, and sexuality. She is known for questioning the essence of these identities. Kahlo famously painted depictions which show her questioning and exploring her own identity. When looking at her whole body of work, it is apparent that Kahlo was interested in gender and racial constructs. Frida Kahlo s painting, Diego and Frida, 1929 1944 is one visual example of how Frida Kahlo was an artist that challenged ideas surrounding gender, race, and sexuality. This painting can be seen through the lens of deconstruction to offer a deeper insight into its meaning. Vernon Minor and Jacques Derrida are art theorists that have also speculated about deconstruction. These two both made an argument that deconstruction is made stronger when direct opposites are used. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deconstruction at its core is an act that ask questions for the sake of asking questions. This is so because deconstruction is not about reaching a conclusion. Rather, deconstruction seeks to expand questioning in order to expand perception. Jacques Derrida points out, that there is no such thing as true deconstruction. Derrida states that every decoding is another encoding It is important to note that in so saying this, Derrida has fundamentally defining a key characteristic of decoding. There is no way to truly decode as there is always a naturally occurring need to seek to define what has been decoded. This, however, is not the goal of decoding. The true aim of decoding is to continually ask questions in order to raise new questions thus, new understanding. Diego and Frida 1929 1944 contains specific points of reference within the painting that allude to decoding. In particular, Frida Kahlo uses binary opposites as imagery in this ... • 10. The And Criminal Cases Evidence In both civil and criminal cases evidence is used in order to prove a particular fact about a case. Evidence can either be direct or circumstantial. Direct evidence establishes a particular fact without the need to make an inference where circumstantial evidence an inference is needed to be made in order to connect the evidence to a particular fact of the case. Definition Circumstantial evidence is defined as evidence which may allow a judge or jury to deduce a certain fact from other facts in which have been proven. Meaning, the witness or whoever is giving the evidence is describing circumstances to which they observed. It is indirect evidence, from which then the trier of fact, that could either be the judge or the jury depending on the type of court the matter is being addressed in, can logically infer the existence of the material fact. From these definitions, it is clear that circumstantial evidence is not straightforward. There is a chain of facts that need to be followed so that a logical conclusion from a dispute between parties can be made when there is no direct evidence. Due to the fact that there is no direct evidence, the trier of fact must then make a logical jump or inference to reach their conclusions about the evidence that has been brought forth. Circumstantial evidence relies heavily on the use of inference to connect the facts to the conclusion. Meaning, a conclusion is being reached just on the circumstantial evidence that is being brought forth by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Kuiper Belt More and more is being learned about the Kuiper Belt showing us that it is an interesting part of our galaxy that may help us better understand how our solar system was formed. The existence of what became known as the Kuiper Belt was first suggested by astronomer Kenneth Edgeworth in 1943. He suggested that, comets and other larger bodies might exist past Neptune. Several years later in 1951, astronomer Gerard Kuiper predicted the existence of icy objects that formed a belt just beyond the orbit of Neptune. This became known as the Kuiper Belt or less commonly known as the Edgeworth Kuiper Belt and is thought to contain objects leftover during the formation of our solar system. Since the discovery of the first large KBO, 1992QB1, in 1992 by Jane Luu and David Jewitt (jew it), a few others have been identified. In 2004 using better telescopes, astronomers discovered another KBO which they named Sedna. This was followed by discoveries in 2005 and 2008. In 2005 a KBO slightly smaller than Pluto was identified and named Eris. It was the discovery of Eris which has its own moon that led to Pluto being reclassified as a dwarf planet rather than the ninth planet in our solar system. In 2008 two more objects categorized as dwarf planets were discovered. One is named Makemake after the Polynesian creation god and the other is named Haumea after the Hawaiian goddess of fertility and childbirth. The distance from Earth and the small size of the objects in the Kuiper Belt make them very difficult to see and study. To get a closer look at the objects, the first mission to the Kuiper Belt was launched in 2006 by NASA. The New Horizons spacecraft had reached Pluto about 10 years later in 2015 providing the first up close glimpse of a Kuiper belt object. The New Horizons spacecraft continues to push further into the Kuiper Belt and information from this exploration is still being analyzed. • 14. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ordinary Portland Cement General Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is most widely used cementitious material and is the second most consumed resource in the world as it forms the basic ingredient in concrete and Bricklayer Joseph Aspdin of Leeds, England first prepared Portland cement early in the 19th century by sweltering powdered limestone and clay in his kitchen stove [13]; this laid the foundation for an industry to develop a binder called ordinary Portland cement. The major applications of concrete in the construction field such as infrastructure, habitation and transportation have greatly influenced in affecting the economic progress by improving the stability and quality of life to a very wide extent. However, inherent disadvantages are that production of Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) using raw materials such as limestone and clay are depleting and quarrying of them is causing the source for environmental degradation. When taking the organism, population, community and ecosystem approaches to study ecology one needs consider that there are levels that layout the specific details of what each approach is. For organism approach, the processes look at the way an individual live in an environment and how this individual behaves and adaption within its surrounding. The population approach concerns over a group of organisms, the number of female and male, the differences within organisms, the similarity that they share, and their genetic makeup within a whole population. The processes and structures to understand the community deal with understanding of the diversity and different groups of organisms living in the same place. The ecosystem approach looks at the overall chemical reaction which is the transfer of energy and matter to make life possible. The processes occur in the atmosphere, aquatic, and on land. 2.) Viscosity is the property of resistance to flow in a fluid or semi fluid ( Merriam Webster.com ). Density is how packed together something is. The Heart Of Evil In Shakespeare s King Lear Shakespeare s King Lear In The Tragedy of King Lear, Shakespeare depicts a knot of characters, each of whom is intent on achieving his or her aims by any means necessary. The main protagonist King Lear is at the heart of evil in the play, as David Beauregard asserts (204). Lear irresponsibly divides his kingdom, gives it away to emerging chaos, and behaves as a tyrant throughout the play. In Lear, Shakespeare creates a complex character, which deserves the misfortunes that he brings upon himself. However, Edmond, the illegitimate son of the Earl of Gloucester, is an outright villain. His misdeeds are the cunningly planned crimes, unlike Lear s impertinent mistreatment of the people. Beauregard further defines the injustice described in King Lear as the result of human evil (217). This play s tragedy is not in Lear s pitiful position, but in the malign state of mind of people who manipulate others, as Lear and Edmond. In the first scene of the play, Gloucester introduces Edmond to the Earl of Kent as his favorite son (1.1.15 16). Still, Edmond is not content with his father s love and recognition. Meredith Skura describes Edmond as this play s villain who maims and murders, defies religion and family bonds (127). These activities may have direct or indirect effects on our changing coastlines. They may effect sources of new sediment to the coast and the movement of sediment within the coastal environment. Sediment starvation caused by river and coastal management is one effect of human activities on the coast. Sand dunes help absorb the pounding of high waves and reduce overwash flooding in storms. It has become common for sand dunes to be bulldozed to improve the views to the sea. When it comes to the colonial situation, the Marxian analysis must be slightly stretched to deal with these realities (Fanon, The Wretched of The Earth, 1963). When he states this he is not saying that the Marxian analysis should be abandoned, revised or ignored. He was trying to deal with realities that the Marxist tradition often overlooked, such as the role the peasantry that is more than simply an auxiliary to the working class, a critique of the national bourgeoisie and its relationship to the proletariat and his rejection of a two staged theory of revolution. On these issues, Fanon may be said to be more in tune with Marx than many of Marx s followers. After Marx published volume one of his greatest theoretical work, he denied that he had ever developed a universal theory that is applicable to every society on earth. He also specifically limited his delineation of the historical tendency of capitalist accumulation to Western Europe alone and in his white writings on Russia and elsewhere, he emphasised the possibility that these non Western underdeveloped societies could get to socialism without having to go through capitalist industrialisation. Public Choice Theory And Public Choice Theory Public choice or public choice theory means the use of economic tools to deal with traditional problems of political science, it also tries to explain how public decision are made. It is directed towards the study of politics based on the economic principles. The public choice theory is a strong variant of the rational choice theory. The theory is concerned with the provision of so called public goods, goods that are delivered by government rather than the market, because, as with air, their benefit cannot be withheld from individuals who choose not to contribute to their provision. This song was performed by Billie Holiday in 1939 at the Cafe Society in New York. The music video was actually a recorded performance from 1959. The song was written and performed because the purpose of was to raise awareness and fight against African American lynching because during that time, African Americans were being discriminated and abused. Billie Holiday in the music video/song Strange Fruit displays logos through context and imagery, pathos through her sorrowful tone and facial expressions, and lastly, ethos because she won many awards during her career in singing, and Strange Fruit is one of them. The lyrics of the song have contains a handful of imagery describing African Americans being lynched.
