2. Summary Of No Witchcraft For Sale By Doris Lessing
Accept Our Differences
(A Discussion on three messages from Doris Lessing No Witchcraft for Sale.) Doris Lessing was born
during the British Empire, and witnessed many of the injustices that were done upon the people of
Rhodesia. She grew up and felt it was a part of her duty to write about social injustices. Leftist,
fiercely independent, feminist, her characters, like Lessing herself, are social critics rebelling against
the cultural restrictions of their societies (Gale). She had a deep desire to influence others through her
literary works. She challenges the idea of race and women gender roles in most of her writings. She is
also known for mostly writing fiction literary works. In Doris Lessing s literary work No Witchcraft
for Sale she expresses three important messages about social issues during the Britain Empire. Doris
Lessing s first message demonstrated in No Witchcraft for Sale is standing by your culture. Culture is
an important aspect to all humans, no matter what race, or where you come from. Everyone
experiences culture values that they grew up with and teach to generations down the line. The idea of
culture has been around since the existence of the world. In the story, Gideon, the black man that the
white family, the Farquars, hired as a servant stood up for his culture in one of the most important
ways. In the story Gideon fixed Teddy s eyesight, the little boy, by using his special mixture of herbs
and spices. Later the Farquars bring a scientist to talk to Gideon to convince him to tell them his
secret. They even offered him money to give up which root it was that saved little Teddy s eyesight.
There was silence after the further explanation, and then Gideon remarked indifferently that he could
not remember the root (1334). Gideon was not comfortable giving up his secret for anything, not even
wealth. Gideon even felt a little betrayed by the Farquars for bringing the scientist to him. Nothing in
the world was going to make Gideon give up his cultural secrets. The cultural conflict lies because the
Europeans want more control, and power over the African Americans, and their cultures. The
Europeans want their way to win, because they want to have power over the other culture (Scola).

Even though there are terms that has the same meaning as girl . There are different ways that the word
girl is used. In the essay, The Meaning of a Word by Gloria Naylor, She provided many ways that the
term nigger was used by her family. For one example, she explained in the essay that the word was
always applied to a man who had distinguished himself in some situation that bought their approval
for his strength, intelligence, or drive. Further along in the essay, she stated how the word is used in
the plural form. Many people used the word girl as describing a young woman, object, or it can be
used to convey any thought or emotion.
The definition of girl is usually a young, female child . According to Dictionary, The age limit

4. Hinduism Women
It is clear in Hinduism that a woman has the same religious and spiritual freedom as men. Like men,
women can attain the same heights of spiritual awakening by taking the path of asceticism. The
Sanskrit language possesses a female equivalent to the male renouncer: there is the sadhvı as well as
the sadhu, the sannyasin as well as the sannyasıni. However, throughout time there have been many
women ascetics in Hinduism who have been greatly respected. In the Vedic period there were as many
as twenty women among the authors of the Rig Veda, known as brahmabadini. They were the
composer of Vedic hymns. They were seer to whom the Vedas were originally revealed through states
of higher consciousness. They were: Ghoshsha, Godha, Vishwara, Apala, ... Show more content on

One is to keep moving around the country, travelling from one pilgrimage centre to another, and
practicing begging for one s survival. The other is to settle for more or less long period in a fixed
place. This in turn implies two choices; either to live independently, with some attendants, or to
belong to a monastic community. But the monastic order within various sects in Hinduism, especially
for women came into existence in later period. There were no female Hindu monastic order until the
foundation of Nari Math in 1895 by Sannyasini Gauri puri Devi, the prominent woman monastic
disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. While Gauri Ma was living at Dakshineswar, Sri Ramakrishna gave her
the ocher robes of a sannyasini and made arrangements for the accompanying rituals. Before this,
Gauri Ma had worn a sannyasini s robes as an external sign of renunciation, but she had not taken any
formal vows. After this ritual, he gave her a new name Gauriananda. The first female monastic order
started this time following the line of thinking of Sri Ramakrishna and His able container Sri
Saradamoni Devi. The Math had been dedicated by her to the name of Universal Mother and named
Shri Shri Saradeswari Ashram and Free Hindu Girls School. Later on in 1954 the modern foundation
of the Srı Sarada Matha as a similar to the Ramakrishna Order developed within the Hindu tradition.

5. America s Regional Division Is One Of A Kind
A majority of countries around the world are divided regionally, whether that be states or provinces,
and Canada s regional division is one of a kind. Regionalism in Canada is more prevalent than
anywhere else, and each region has a substantial amount of force and sway within Canada. The
strength of regionalism in Canada stems from its federal government system, Canada s geological
make up, and the prominence of the Quebecois. In the context of Canada, region will be considered as
the provinces within Canada.
Regionalism is defined as The theory or practice of regional rather than central systems of
administration or economic, cultural, or political affiliation (Oxford Dictionary). In the case of

provinces within Canada cover a very large area of land.
Canada is the second largest country in the world by land mass, yet it is the thirty eighth most
populous country in the world. What that ratio means is a significant distance between the
concentrated masses of people in Canada and the available resources from province to province vary
largely due to the considerable amount of land the provinces occupy. In British Columbia, the
geological make up consists of long coastal region, rainforests, and large mountain ranges, whereas
the province directly next to it is composed of flat fields and numerous pockets of oil. The economy of
each province thus relies on its natural resources, and the vast difference between each province puts
even more importance on the functioning of their respective provincial government. The plethora of
economic sources for each province is a lot to focus on for one central federal government. A
provincial government can pay attention more closely on their respective economic sources, thus
giving a provincial government more power and importance. The regional economies created spur on
cultures and lifestyles associated with it.
Each individual province of Canada has its own unique culture and encompass other

6. Causes And Effects Of Cheating
Hey there, let s talk about something almost everyone has been through at least once point in their life.
Cheating most but maybe not all guys or girls have cheated on or with. It is the hardest thing to go
through. Imagine giving all one person s trust and love and attention to one person and they just ruin
all of someone s trust and leave one and not care all of a sudden.
Then then tell one or one find out he was cheating on ones the whole time and left one for someone
else. They might not be prettier than one and they might not love him like the other person do but that
person cannot help it. That might not have done anything wrong but the person does not know how to
feel. If a person been through this most people will say most people will get through it.
There is a quote that says A relationship is not a test so why cheat? this quote speaks volume. There
are so many reasons or causes to cheating but why do it? Why let someone or something get in the
way of love or a persons loved one. If the person truly love someone why leave them why cheat on
them. People won t matter to a person or another guy/girl shouldn t catch the spouse s eye. The only
thing that should matter is the person s spouse. The effect of cheating can severely affect people s
health or to someone wouldn t affect most at all.
There are a lot of Reasons not to cheat. First of all there is NO reason to cheat at all!!!! Why cheat?
Why cheat on the girl/guy that loves the person with all her heart. There is no point. If you are not
happy anymore then tell them try to work it out do not just leave and not tell her/him. NEVER
CHEAT ON HIM/HER EVER!!! Most built a trust with their spouse. Why ruin it, why let a good
thing turn into garbage. Just talk about it with the spouse. Do not let some girl/guy ruin their feelings
or the one person that loves each other and someone that would give that person the world if the
person could.
How do you think that person would feel if someone said the person was going to give their friend
food at lunch then the person just would not even talk to them and gave the food to someone else?
Well most people can relate to food because most all love one thing and that s food. Cheating can ruin
trust with future

7. Censorship Of The World Wide Web
We live in the age of information, a world that has now been largely digitalized. The World Wide Web
is the central component of our era, as it allows people across the globe to share and receive
information in an instance. It used to take months before a letter from China could reach the U.S, now
it just takes a second with E Mail. This fast pace information processing has allowed human society to
move forward with unprecedented speed, but it also raises many concerns for government authorities.
Sharing information is a powerful tool, and too much of it will make any government nervous.
Censorship of information has had a long history throughout the world. In ancient China for example,
censorship was considered a legitimate instrument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is a 718% increase compared with the 757 items that Google had to remove in the six months
prior (Suter). Dorothy Chou, a senior policy analyst at Google wrote in her blog post, It s alarming not
only because free expression is at risk, but because some of these requests come from countries you
might not suspect Western democracies not typically associated with censorship. Other countries can
also send in requests to Google and ask them to take things down, but Google rarely complies with
those requests. Being a U.S based company; Google has complied with 93% of the government
requests from our own government authorities. It only complied or partially complied with only 24%
of such requests from Canada, and 44% from France (Sutter). The numbers are significantly lower,
which shows that Google is clearly under more pressure by the U.S government. Other nations like
China and Russia have completely banned Google all together.
These data suggests that the U.S government also actively monitors the World Wide Web, George
Orwell s worst nightmare. The U.S. government has even gone as far as to ask Google for data on its
users more than 31,000 times in 2012 alone. Google said that they ended up turning over at least some
data in every single case (Quain). However, some have argued that these monitoring isn t all that bad.

8. Reducing The Primary Cesarean Section Rate
Reducing the Primary Cesarean Section Rate in Nulliparous Women:
A Quality Improvement Project

Drs. Joan Nelson and Kathy Shaw of the University of Colorado College of Nursing in partial
fulfillment of the requirements for NUDO 7018
Introduction
Background
Healthy childbirth is defined as a safe, natural process that rarely requires medical intervention (Goer
Romano, 2012). The medical model of care, however, often includes interventions that are not
supported by the evidence and can increase a woman s risk of having a cesarean section. These
intrusions into labor and birth often lead to what has been called the cascade of interventions

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are also requiring participating hospitals with more
than 1,100 births a year to report their primary cesarean section rates. Theses rate will be published in
2016 (The Joint Commission, 2013).
Local Problem Lutheran Medical Center (LMC), one of eight hospitals in the Sister s of Charity of
Leavenworth Health System, had the second highest cesarean section rate in the system in 2014 (SCL
Health, 2015). Westside Women s Care (WWC), a privately owned obstetrics practice, employs 14
providers who attend approximately 65% of the births at LMC. WWC s primary cesarean section rate
from March 2014 to March 2015 was 34.8%, the highest of all LMC provider groups. The primary
cesarean section rate in Colorado in 2012 was 17.4% and the Healthy People 2020 goal for primary
cesarean section is 23.9% (Osterman Martin, 2014; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,
2015). To help decrease the primary cesarean section rate at WWC and subsequently LMC, a quality
improvement project (QIP) team was formed composed of providers from WWC and administrators
and nurses at LMC. A root cause analysis was conducted and Fishbone diagram were developed (See
Appendix A). Several themes emerged as contributing to the high cesarean section rate. These

9. How Japan Became a Successful Empire Essay
By 1905 Japan had become a military power capable of carving out an empire for itself. Japan did this
by the Meiji Restoration, the Sino Japanese War and the Anglo Japanese alliance + Russo Japanese
War.
Firstly, Japan was dramatically changed after the Meiji Restoration in 1868. The Meiji Restoration
was a political uprising which ended the era of ruling of the Tokugawa shogun and gave back power to
the emperor Meiji. When the emperor returned to his position as ruler, Japan was the complete
opposite of a military power, it relied on its farm land and had made very few technological advances.
The Japanese people wanted to become a nation able to stand amongst Europe and United States (the
Western Powers) especially after these western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This small act nearly broke into a full blown war between china and japan but was resolved by signing
a treaty that stated that both japan and china had to withdraw their military from Korea and notify
Korea if they were any military movements. Yet in 1894 Korea had an uprising and both china and
japan sent in their military and when the incident was resolved japan would not withdraw their
military. This cause china to fight back but ended with an easy victory for japan because of its more
modernized military. By winning this war Japan was able to increase their military power and start
becoming a powerful empire.
Also, Japan was able to expand their military power and become a powerful empire through the Anglo
Japanese Alliance which led to the Russo Japanese war. The Anglo Japanese Alliance which happened
between the years of 1902 to 1923 was a set of three treaties. These treaties were signed just before
World War one and stated that Great Britain and Japan would have to help each other in protecting
their various interests in Korea and china against Russia. It also stated that if the other country needed
military assistance the other country would provide them with their military and if the various interests
from Korea and/or china were in any way threatened by foreign powers Great Britain or Japan could
come and interfere. With this treaty in place Japan decided to

10. Analysis of The Handmaid s Tale
The Handmaid s Tale is a distopian novel of tightly wound truths and links to our society today. It is
so tightly wound, like a thorn bush, that gaining any meaning from it at all proves to be a very arduous
task indeed for those who are not predisposed to do so. Nevertheless, some meaning did present itself
during the text, as follows.
The truth that is privileged in The Handmaid s Tale is that societies/regimes based on totalitarianism
and extremism are not satisfactory for anyone involved. Even though they may in theory be an
improvement, in practice they fall dismally short of the mark. This truth is apparent in every aspect of

his own antagonist, The Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Toole, has been called a broad

evidenced when he digs through his closet for the overnight bag that his mother had bought for him
for a disasterous one day stay at a boy s camp when he was eleven years old (400). Within a very few
years, Ignatius suffers the further trauma of the loss of his dog, Rex, . . . probably the only thing that . .

beloved pet and rejected a church and its doctrines which had failed to honor either his grief or the one
thing that he had truly loved.
Bereft now of workable religious moorings, Ignatius began to both cling more tightly to, and yet

burial service for Rex that she, too, failed to understand the needs of her grief stricken son. Even

As a Millennial, I ve found that trying to achieve the same sort of success as previous generations is
completely impossible. Our country has changed so much, and we ve come to realize we re not as
invulnerable as we thought. Baby Boomers had a dream instilled into them by their parents that
prosperity and the American Dream are accessible to anyone determined to reach it. And they got all
they wanted, plus more. So my generation was asked to reach for the stars because we could get more
than the American Dream. We could get our dreams. But after the real estate market crash, a line was
drawn between this generation and the last because we had to learn a new way to achieve our dreams.

We, more than any other age, want stability. No one wants to see that in us because it s a tough fight to
get it, but we want to self manage and have financial certainty. Houses mean something entirely
different to us than to others. We don t see houses as necessities or obligations. We don t take
mortgages lightly or settle into some place we re not happy with. The real estate market has some new
customers who are taking their choices seriously. To us, that house has to be earned, and it s also an
investment. We don t feel an obligation to settle into that house; we want it because of what it offers
us. That house can grant both stability and financial security. Making an investment like that is
something that overjoys a generation still shaken from the uncertainty of the market crash. When we
make investments, we become adults. There is nothing scarier or more exhilarating than stepping
away from an age where we can t control the world around us into being at the wheel. The housing
market may not have the same customers as it once did, but these customers are ones who aren t

13. The Varying Practices of Allopathic Medicine and...
There are to branches of medicine currently practiced in the United States Osteopathic Medicine and
Allopathic Medicine. Throughout this paper I am going to discuss the history, practices and beliefs of
Osteopathic Medicine as well as describe the differences between Allopathic Medicine and
Osteopathic Medicine.
Osteopathic Medicine has a deep rooted belief in its core values and puts a very strong emphasis on
non invasive, hands on holistic medical practices. Osteopathic medicine puts all its focus on its belief
that the manipulation of bones, joints and muscles can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of
ailments. Osteopathic medical principles believe that the body is capable of healing, maintaining and
regulating itself without the use of pharmaceutical drugs or invasive procedures that are seen as doing
more harm than good.
During the early 19th century there was the beginning of a new movement to revolutionize medicine.
In 1892 a physician by the name of Andrew Still, MD as a protest against the conventional medical
system founded the American School of Osteopathy in Kirksville, MO. Still believed strongly that the
current medical system of the time was full of corruption, not efficient and was in the habit of treating
the disease and illness and did not worry about the underlying issues that caused the affliction to begin
with. Still founded Osteopathy during a time in which he believed that conventional medicine was
doing more harm than it was good.

Copper is a mineral. it is not a plant or a animal. Copper is a metallic metal. It can never be broken

to humans.
People liked it because in it s native condition, it could easily be beaten into weapons or tools. Copper
has been one of the most useful metals for over

Lamps are also attached to these helmets in case some of the lighting in the mine goes out leaving a
miner stranded in the dark. One of the biggest problems with mining is that in some places dangerous
gas s may exist, like Carbon Monoxide. In the past we had very cruel and inhuman ways to detect
harmful gases. One of these ways was the use of canaries. Miners would let them fly into a part of the
mine where a poison gas was suspected. If there was a harmful gas, the bird would fall over dead at
the first scent of the gas. Today, we have better ways to detect gases without having animals die. We
now have detection machines in all parts of mines. Mines also have top of the line fire alarms and
water systems. If a flammable gas ignites, like sulfur, the fire may not die for years, which results in
closing the mine. Another problem miners complain about are the rats. Mines will often have mine
cats that hunt out the rats. These cats are well fed and petted by most of the miners.

Sometimes miners may only find 2%. The things that make copper such a popular metal are
malleability which is how easily it bends. Copper is highly

18. The Red Light On The Dashboard Essay
. Suppress your anger. Anger gets a really bad rap, but I kind of love it. I see it as the red light on the
dashboard. It simply means that my needs are not being met. So I don t suppress it: I acknowledge it
and address it.
2. Start telling a story. When you re angry, it s easy (and natural) to start writing a play in which you re
simultaneously the hero, the victim, and the narrator. Don t. Your motto should be just the facts.
Identify what you really know is the case (as opposed to what you think is happening). Take a clear
look at what you are reacting to and make a clear observation, making sure not to mix in your
judgments.
3. Blame a situation or another person. A situation or another person s actions can never make you feel
a certain way, so obviously blaming someone or something for your anger is a red herring. Remember,
feelings are your warning signals, and are always a result of your needs not being met. As your
attention shifts from the stimulus and your immediate reaction (anger) to identifying which of your
needs are not being met, your feelings will shift also.
4. Focus on what you don t want. Don t focus on what s bad about the situation: doing so will almost
certainly keep you stuck there. Think about it: until we figure out what specific things we do want, it s
going to be impossible to ask for them. We re much more likely to judge and blame others for the bad
stuff ( It s her fault! ). Learn to take ownership of your thinking and focus

Institutionalized inequalities, a societal prejudice against others through a community or organization,
is a prevalent issue within the novel, The Bluest Eye , written by Toni Morrison. The use of racial
discrimination, gender roles, and class structures construct these inequalities, and illustrates the
immoral high road that institutions in the 20th century would follow along. Pecola Breedlove, the
main character and the person who falls to victim most frequently, endures numerous setbacks and
obstacles that contribute to the analysis on how The Bluest Eye creates such disparities. As Wall
would put it, in a society ordered by hierarchies of power based on race, class, and gender, no one is
more powerless hence more vulnerable than a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of an institution that promotes internalized racism would be the school in which Claudia,
Pecola, and Frieda attend. Maureen Peal, the new kid to the neighborhood, arrives with her head held
high on top of her even higher horse. Maureen is a light skinned African American middle classed girl
who is held to the highest regard around school, and who kicks those of whom are darker and poorer
to the curb. As we have discussed before, there is a scene in which Maureen offers to walk home with
Claudia and her sister Frieda. The walk is interrupted abruptly after running into a crying Pecola in the
center of a circle of male classmates taunting her. The boys shout slurs at her about her father and her
skin tone, completely disregarding that they themselves were black, or that their father had similarly
relaxed habits (65) In regards to internalized racism, Morrison states that they seemed to have taken
all of their smoothly cultivated ignorance, their exquisitely learned self hatred, their elaborately
designed hopelessness and sucked it all up into a fiery cone of scorn that had burned for ages in the
hollows of their minds. (65) Maureen stands idly by while Claudia and Frieda help in saving Pecola
from the ruthlessness of the African American boys who hate her for something they all have in
common, but the boys finish their taunting because of the stigma surrounding Maureen and her light
skin. Maureen takes this time to console Pecola, walking the girls towards the ice cream parlor, and
pretending to be anything but sinister. The gears switch, Maureen starts bombarding Pecola with
questions of her naked father, and in the end regards Pecola as black and ugly while regarding herself
as light and cute. Exposing the African American community of a deep seeded hatred in their
community towards the blackest sheep.

Portrayal of Women in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Although Death of a Salesman is mainly about a salesman named Willy Loman, the almost hidden
presence of the women in the novel goes all too often unnoticed. Linda Loman seems to be the glue
that holds the Loman clan together, as Willy, Biff, and Happy are all deluded in one way or another.
Arthur Miller depicts Willy s wife in a very specific way, and this is a very crucial part of the story. He
depicts the other women in the story in ways that complement Linda s distinct nature. Although Linda
s role as a woman in society is extremely limited, she is a heroic character, both wife and mother to
some very sad and twisted characters.

HIS WIFE (shyly, beaten). Hello. (Silence.) Oh Howard I can t talk into this . . .

There is, in fact, a third woman in Howard s life, maid. Howard says that if he can t be at home when

Another woman who seems to have existed only to serve men is Willy Loman s mother. On one
occasion, in speaking with Ben, Willy remembers being on her lap, and Ben, on learning that his
mother is dead, utters a platitudinous description of her, Fine specimen of a lady, Mother (1183), but

Introduction
Asthma is considered as one of the most common chronic and complex respiratory conditions which
involve both environmental and genetic factors (1,2). It is such a condition of the airways presents as
constriction of the bronchi and bronchioles in response to irritants. The vascular resistance of the
pulmonary system will increase as constriction leads to a smaller vascular diameter (3,4). The
prevalence of the disease is predicted to rise making it one of the major life threatening disorders. In
the UK, the prevalence of asthma showed an increase two to three fold from 1955 to 2004 (5).

The plasminogen system works in opposition to clotting factors, which work to create clots of fibrin
such as thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor. Since pleural tissue is covered in elastic tissue and
relies on said tissue for mechanical function, the build up of fibrotic clots can damped the
physiological ability of these tissues (Figure 1). It is the interaction of various immune responses and
tissue remodelling that cause further complications to asthmatic individuals (10).

23. Emotions In Indian Horse By Richard Wagamese
Every human to exists on earth experiences a moment in their life when they have felt immense
despair, sorrow, or hopelessness. Whether it is from bereavement, depression, abuse, or trauma, the
bitter feelings accompanied by those instances can quickly take over one s life and suddenly, one
becomes buried in dark emotions. At that moment, all the joy and happiness from previous instances
in life diminishes, and suddenly the world seems dim. In the book, Indian Horse by Richard

solace when he explores the land outside of the New Dawn Centre. One night, Saul begins to see the
shape of a man moving towards him with a horse trailing behind him and Saul quickly realizes that it
is his great grandfather, Shabogeesick. Shabogeesick is accompanied by many of Saul s direct family
members: Benjamin, Mary, John, and Naomi. Saul states, I was looking at a man I knew was my great
grandfather...I saw my father, my mother. My brother...My grandmother. I wept at the sight of
them...the old man lifted my grandmother up onto the horses back. My family walked slowly into the
depths of the fog, and I could hear them singing as they retreated (Wagamese 193). Shabogeesick

the author? Why or why not?
I watched The Story of Bottled Water . This video s main goal is to persuade you not to buy bottled
water. The producers of the video gave examples showing a bad light on bottled water. One example
highlighted how water bottles were sitting in landfills in India and polluting the world. I agree with the
fact about how it is bad that the bottles are causing pollution. At another point in the video they said
that being seen drinking out of a bottle of water was getting to the same level as being seen smoking
while pregnant. I disagree with that statement. I think that is very extreme and just not true. My
opinion on this topic after watching the video is that the problem is not the bottles of water and their
companies, it is the factories in India that are not actually recycling the bottles. That seems to be the

25. Benchmade Rivalry
Analysis of Porters five industry forces on Benchmade
Introducing a new product or service into a marketplace requires more than just a great idea.
Companies are often enamored with new product ideas that would appear to be unlimited in its ability
to capture a market. However, limits do exist and failure to properly conduct market research could
lead to a failed product introduction. Enabling analysis of a market to determine the level of
competition requires the use of Porter s five industry forces; the character of rivalry, the threat of new
entrants, the threat of substitute products or services, the bargaining power of suppliers, and the
bargaining power of buyers (Williams 2017).
Rivalry among competitors is a normal part of the business environment and should be expected in
any market. However, understanding the character of the rivalry, or how intense the behavior is of the
companies competing in that industry, is the first of Porter s five industry forces (Williams 2017). As
an example, in 1988 Benchmade Knife Company was founded by Les de Asis in California, producing
fixed blade and folding knives. As a sporting knife manufacturer, Benchmade competitors included;
Buck, KA BAR, Case, Gerber, Kershaw, Syderco, SOG, Columbia River Knife Tool (CRKT), Cold

26. Symbolism, And Personification In Thanatopsis By William...
In the poem Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, he uses many literary devices such as
personification, symbol, and simile to reveal the meaning of the work. The meaning of the poem is
most easily stated that, people should approach death pleasantly. With each device Bryant uses, he
intricately places them in the writing as well as has them frame the poem. This is what makes
Thanatopsis so easy to understand even though the author is using such cultured ideas. His ability to
portray the meaning through these devices shows the sophistication of his writing as well as his
thoughts. By using these literary devices, the audience better comprehends how vital it is to learn the
meaning. Bryant uses personification throughout the whole poem with the use of nature to help the
audience s minds comprehend the goal of the writing. The poem gives a lady the role of Nature and
She has a voice of gladness, and a smile And eloquence of beauty; and she glides Into darker musings,
with a mild And healing sympathy that steals away (4 7). This quote is demonstrating that the lady
glides into the sad thoughts of dying people and brightens them up. Also, to let them know that she is
there to support them when they are afraid of death. By giving Nature a personality it makes the poem
more relatable and comforting which works with the meaning of a pleasant death. Bryant uses Nature
to calm our worries of death. Almost like the idea of Mother Nature, which is usually related with

C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity, an influential composition of Biblical opinion, promotes the Gospel
first through live broadcasts during World War II and now as a major premise in theological
discussions. It was Friday, September 1st, 1939 when the course of the war changed drastically for
Great Britain. James Welch, the Director of Religious Broadcasting at the British Broadcasting
Company was interrupted during The Daily Service with a note that pensively stated, Germany
invaded Poland early this morning (Phillips 1). As the months dragged eternally on, the radio waves

Hence if I gave a series of talks, I shd mention Christianity only at the end, and would prefer not to
unmask my battery until then (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). He wanted to ease into
the truth about religion and salvation by first evaluating human morality through a broadcast
discussion entitled, Right and Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe (C.S. Lewis, the BBC,
and Mere Christianity). The idea that, just as all bodies are governed by the law of gravitation and
organisms by biological laws, so the creature called man also had his law, described Lewis in the
transposed talk of Mere Christianity. He went on to say, that a body could not choose whether it
obeyed the law of gravitation or not, but a man could choose either to obey the law of Human Nature
or to disobey it (Lewis 18). C.S. Lewis describes through these early statements that morality is
universal, for if it wasn t, the very war they were fighting would not have a reason for its existence;
Adolf Hitler would have been acting on his own view of morality which simply differed from Great
Britain s and the Ally forces . It is commonly understood, however, that mankind has some sort of
inherent idea of right and wrong that the Nazi party was violating by drastic measures. In addition to
these powerfully spoken opinions by this Oxford don, Lewis did not want to enforce the viewpoint of
a single Christian denomination, but leave the decision of minor Christian beliefs to the individual. He
states in Mere Christianity:
The reader should be warned that I offer no help to anyone who is hesitating between two Christian
denominations. You will not learn from me whether you ought to become an Anglican, a Methodist, a
Presbyterian, or a Roman Catholic. This omission is intentional...I am a very ordinary layman of the

28. Similarities Between Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells
Cells were divided into two, which are, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Examples of prokaryotic
cells are Bacteria and Archae, while the examples of eukaryotic cells are Protists, Fungi, plants and
animals. All cells share certain basic features, but the major difference between prokaryotic and
eukaryotic cells is their DNA. Thus, these two cells have different features on DNA transcription and
protein synthesis mechanisms. The general processes of transcription may be applied to both
prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells as their basic biochemistry was the same. But, they are differs in their
specific mechanisms and regulation of transcriptions. In all species, the process of transcriptions
begins with the binding of RNA polymerase complex to a special DNA sequence at the beginning of
the gene, which named promoter. The activation of RNA polymerase leads to initiation of
transcription and followed by elongation of transcription. And these two cells were different in these
elements. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

question of what the murder weapon was. The only three possible weapons are the bust of pallas, the
eye dropper, and the cloth. However, we know automatically it wasn t the cloth. If the cloth is the
same cloth Lenore gave The Red Death to cough into, not only would Poe show signs of the Red

As a result of trail and error method we find the angle for the third pulley and the mass that should had

To enable to determine the system is in equilibrium we use the following specifications.
Ring Method of Finding Equilibrium
For this method the ring should be centered over the post when the system is in equilibrium. So we
tack the center post down so it will flush with the top surface of the force table and it will be no longer
comptent to hold the ring in the position. We also pulled the ring slightly to the one side and release it
to enable to inspect that the ring returns to the center. Then if not, adjust the mass or/and the angle of
the pulley until the ring constantly returns to the center when it is pulled slightly to one side.

Once the best method of performance task was determined, it would be educated to all workers.
(Clegg, S et al 2005)
Third principle as per Clegg, Kornberger Pitsis (2005) was based on selecting workers who possess
skills and abilities to match the needs of the tasks, and train them to perform the task against
established procedures. To increase specialization, Taylor believed workers had to understand the task
that were required and be trained to perform them at the required level. Workers who could not be
trained to do this level were to be transferred to a job where they were able to reach the minimum
required level of proficiency.
Fourth principle was to set a fair level of performance for a task, and then develop a pay system that
provides a reward for performance above the acceptable level. To encourage workers to perform at a
high level of efficiency, and to provide them with an incentive to reveal the most efficient techniques
for performing a task, Taylor advocated that workers benefit from any gains in performance. They
should be paid a bonus and receive some percentage of the performance gains achieved through the
more efficient work process. (Clegg, S et al 2005)
The reasons for its effectiveness at time of its beginning are; it was one of the first formal divisions

shorter hours. Fest does not pretend that this was for the benefit of the people and suggest that this sort
of contempt for the working classes was typical of Hitler. The source highlights the considerable
deprivation of political rights which is a key theme within this question, the overall feeling from
source z is that the system which Hitler installed was not successful, however, it can be strongly
argued that is was, as seen in source y, his manipulation of the lower classes provided Hitler with what
can only be described as a mass following.
Both source y and z suggest that Hitler understood workers mentality; in contrast source aa suggests
that the regime believed Strength through Joy could have an ideological impact. What this source,
written by Richard Evans, shows is that the workers had no understanding, nor did they care for
politics, which is a strong contradiction to the theme in source z. It is suggested that the working
classes just saw the holidays as an escape from everyday life. However, where this source is lacking is
its lack of content over the cultural aspects of the holidays. It states that they were appreciated , but is
not conclusive as to whether the workers were won over by Nazism via the programme. The general
consensus as the end of this source is reached is that the programme was

In the beginning of the story, this is where I believe the boy (Sarty) was struggling with Loyalty to his
father (Abner) and the beginning of his moral sense of justice. The story depicted how Sarty was

store/courtroom. Sarty did not want to be noticed (not to tell another lie because his father was in
trouble again). Here is where Sarty moral conflict with his father s wrongdoing. The passage on p181,

In Dear Friend (?): Culture and Genre in American and Canadian Direct Marketing Letter , Roger
Graves examines how English speaking Canadian people are different from Americans, and how
business communicators need to identify those differences to be successful in both countries. Roger
Graves uses warnings written on the cigarette packet to argue that Americans see only the health
factors when Canadians consider both health and moral issue.
Another difference Roger Graves states is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He mention that Canadian seem to prefer more direct approach than Americans. (244).In his research,
American culture with less power distance using a friendly facades. As a result, business letters in
America starts with Dear friend (244). On the other hand Canadians prefer business letters with a
more formal tone which establishes more power distance. A Canadian focus is only on the products
and services, anything other than that is insincere.
Business letters in America use economics, nationalistic and patriotic sensibilities to sell their products
and services. In contrast, Canadians prefers to have facts, professionalism, and confidential analysis of
products and services, enhancing the credibility and trustworthiness of businesses. Canadians view the
extrinsic rewards in the products and services with suspicion suggesting that it may not worth
purchasing. He also observes that the US market is larger and more complex than the Canadian
market. US businesses include a brief explanation of them; whereas, Canadian businesses assume
customers to know who they are.
In the U.S. presidential campaign, Bill Clinton put the date and hand written sign to reduce the
distance with the general people by making it more personal. They want to believe that politicians are
more in touch with the general people by greeting Dear Friend in their letter as a polite greeting from
an equal. In Canada, Dear
42. Don T Judge A Book By It s Cover Analysis
Middle school can be a tumultuous for students, especially in regards to relationships a general social
interactions. Students can be quick to make assumptions about the people around them based on
nothing more than superficial observations, which can result in unrealistic perceptions of those people.
Because of this, the name of this thematic unit is Don t Judge a Book by It s Cover, and focuses on the
importance of not drawing conclusions about people based on appearances or initial observations. The
text set for this unit reflects this theme, as the books and resources included deal with characters or
stories dealing with prejudice or discrimination. My hope is for middle school students to think deeply
about their own prejudices and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because many of these students are reading on levels below the 8th grade band the texts selected have
slightly lower Lexile scores than you might expect to see in an 8th grade classroom. The themes in
these texts are consistent with the theme of the unit and range from novels about students who face
mistreatment due to prejudice to articles about certain groups in the United States who routinely face
discrimination based on their identity. The different topics these texts cover, all centered around the
same general theme, are sure to engage students because the issues they deal with are something that
they can likely identify in their own lives and experiences. This unit has an intimate interdisciplinary
connection to Social Studies due to it s strong emphasis on relevant social issues such as prejudice and
discrimination based on identity. The text set for this unit includes texts that discuss the perception and
treatment of people based on their race, religion, social status, and physical appearance. Students can
study how discrimination is present in our society today, has plagued our country from the beginning,
and what can be done to counter the impact and present of prejudice and discrimination going

43. Reconstruction Failure Essay
The Reconstruction period is the name given to the time in between 1863 and 1877. This period s
main goal was to reunite the United States of America after the most substantial event of disunity in
American existence: The Civil War. Reconstruction consisted of many proposed plans and attempts to
reinstate the Southern states back into the union. In the early stages, there was some promise as to
what reconstruction had the ability to accomplish, because some political groups had the right ideas
about what was necessary to pick up the fragments of a war torn nation, in order to reconstruct it into a
prospering, free, and equal nation it had the potential to be. This reconstruction had had few successes
and ultimately failed in the end due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, where did Reconstruction fail? Rather than a single event, the downfall of reconstruction was
caused by a series of poor policies and decisions. The first attempt at Reconstruction was driven by
the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln believed that it was his
responsibility, and his responsibility alone, to lead the reunification of the United States. In order to
understand his plans, one must understand his motivations as well. Many believe that Lincoln fought
the Civil War to end slavery and start the movement for racial equality, but Lincoln, being a moderate
republican, mainly fought the Civil War in order to maintain a stable economy and protect the union.
The Republican party was founded on the idea of good business and maintaining a stable economy,
therefore all of their interests rooted back to improving business situations in order to gain wealth and
prosper. In an interview with the New York Tribune, Lincoln is quoted saying My paramount object in
this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or destroy slavery ( Lincoln s Constitutional
Dilemma ). Later on, Lincoln shifted his viewpoint when he realized, or he was forced to realize, that
the United States needed to abolish slavery in order to protect the Union. This realization came only
after almost daily visits from Radical Republicans or humanitarian groups demanding abolition (
Lincoln s Constitutional Dilemma ). Since Lincoln s main motivation was

44. Hyphen And Illusions Summary
An Analysis of Objective and Style in Bains Hyphen and Bissoondath s Illusions At first glance, it
appears that Anurita Bains Riding the Hyphen and Neil Bissoondath s Selling Illusions stake
diametrically opposed viewpoints: Bains essay derides assimilation (using her own experiences as a
Punjabi girl growing up in Canada as a point of emphasis); Bissoondath s essay opposes
multiculturalism . The uncritical reader might suggest that one must either be pro assimilation or pro
multiculturalism and that both writers are representing a side. And yet neither writer actually
advocates anything other than being human which is as simple and complex as one chooses to make it.
This paper will compare and contrast the two pieces style and show why both pieces succeed in
putting a human face on an issue that often tends to emphasize the background and leave out the
humanity. Multiculturalism, according to Tariq Modood, is the recognition of group difference within
the public sphere of laws, policies, democratic discourses and the terms of a shared citizenship and
national identity (Modood 2). On the surface, this would appear to be a good and healthy thing:
ethnicities are encouraged to retain their respective cultural identities and retain the customs that are
their heritage. And yet there is something devious about the idea: it sees in terms of groups. The idea
is like a pie: each culture is given a slice in the much larger pie that is the nation. You may enjoy

45. How Did Military Advances Affect The Civil War
The Civil War was a tragic reality check for the people of America. Thus Military advances played a
drastic role in the war, allowing the North to hit enemies from longer range and fires its guns faster.
Economics also played a radical role in the war. It gave the north an advantage allowing it to fund the
military and purchase all the weapons needed. While military advances impacted the war, however the
economics affected the war the most. Military advances impacted the war greatly. Ironclad Warships
was the great navy weapon the north used to win. The south didn t have a well put together navy so it
was extremely effective. Both sides knew that they need to place iron on there ships to make them
more powerful the North had a greater way of making the ships. While most of the battles weren t
fought in sea they were used to create blockades. The battle on the ground was quite different. ...

It was like the modern day machine gun. As one Historian quoted But Gatling soon improved on the
original six barrel, .58 caliber version of the gun, which fired 350 rounds a minute. The gun was easily
the most powerful gun during this time. It also didn t have to be reloaded as often so it helped the gun
fire faster and also had less bugs in the machine. The only downfall to this weapon was that it was
extremely expensive to make and is why the Union mainly used the Gatling gun. Long Range
Weapons and the minie Bullet helped increase the defense of the Union allowing them to kill from a
further distance. The accuracy was also increased by the new weapons. As one historian quoted about
the mine bullet When used in the rifled musket it spun faster, traveled further and was five times more
accurate than any single man weapon. This was a huge increase from recent guns that could only reach
up to 300 feet. 90% of the injuries made in this war was made by the mine

48. Literature V And Catullus
Literature from different time periods and different parts of the world has served as a mode of
influencing people and sparking reform. However, sometimes pieces of literature have unknowingly
influenced other modern day aspects. These similar connections may be found in other present day
literary works, or films, songs, events, and just about anything. For instance, the ancient poem,
Carmen 8 written by Roman poet, Catullus greatly influenced the modern day song, I Fall Apart
performed by Post Malone through similar uses of egocentric tone, masculine stereotypes, battling
internal conflicts, the theme of rejection, and a sense of a deranged mind.
To being with, the ancestor work, Carmen 8 written by Catullus in a few words is a pep talk to
himself, after an illicitly amorous affair between Catullus and a woman by the pseudo name of Lesbia
suddenly ends. The poem opens with Catullus chiding himself for being too gullible and not noticing
the obvious end to the affair. He describes the end as a cease of light in the lines, once there were
sunlit days when you followed after where ever a girl would go... Those were the bright days gone;
now she s no longer yielding, (Gregory, L. 3 8). After Catullus reminisces over his love for Lesbia, he
again rebukes himself for being emasculate by weeping over a woman. Furthermore, Catullus slanders
Lesbia and sneeringly rhetorically asks her what man will compliment her, claim her, and kiss her, if it
is not him anymore. Catullus ends the poem reassuring himself to be firm as rock as, (Gregory, L. 17).
Similar to Carmen 8, the descendant work, I Fall Apart performed by Post Malone is a reflection of a
breakup. The song starts with a quick summary of the breakup, which was the girl not thinking Post
Malone was sufficient for her, thus she left him suddenly and heartbroken. Post Malone goes on to
reiterate the feeling of his heart breaking, and also stating that he had never loved with greater
immensity in the lines, never caught a feelin this hard, harder than the liquor I pour, (Malone, L. 17
18). Moreover, Post Malone insults the girl, after he states he cannot move on from her even after
everyone else but him had seen the end coming. Towards the end of the

Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The leader, Ammon Bundy, and his family have had previous
problems with the government in 2014 over grazing rights, which they won. Currently, they are
protesting over the prison sentences of two ranchers for arson on federal land. Dwight Hammond and
his son Steven Hammond were sentenced to five years in prison. The ranchers both claimed that they
were setting off fires on their own land in order to prevent the spread of an invasive plant, and another
occurrence to stop the extent of a wildfire. However, those fires had unintentionally burned public
lands. Prosecutors argued that they were attempting to destroy
