The Standard Oil Company
In the mid 1800s, oil became a huge component of American lifestyle, as it was included in a lot of
things including medicine, lubricants, and kerosene for lighting. After Edwin Drake drilled the first
successful oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania in August 1859 , many small oil companies began to
appear throughout northwestern Pennsylvania to capitalize on the new source of revenue.
By the 1860s, the oil industry consisted of four independent oil industries. These were the
producers, refiners, shippers, and distributors . Talks among the four industries was almost
nonexistent. Due to the lack of talking, John D. Rockefeller and Samuel Andrews saw a great
financial opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way by which Standard Oil was able to expand was when Rockefeller became worried
about the overproduction of oil, which would lead to falling prices. Due to his worries,
Rockefeller made up a plan with an alliance of refiners (people who owned the oil processing
plants). By the end of 1872, Standard Oil had acquired 34 former rivals, taken control of
Cleveland, made alliances with several key New York refiners, and secured even lower shipping
rates . Due to such low shipping rates, Standard Oil began to produce other products such as
lubricants, candles, paints, and dyes.
As a result of how powerful Standard Oil was getting, both refiners and producers looked to bring
order to the oil industry. However, nothing was accomplished. Rockefeller took advantage of this
situation, and in August 1872, he became president of the National Refiners Association , an effort
to control the production and prices of oil. However, the refiners association lasted less than a year.
From 1873 1876, Standard Oil expanded drastically as its role in the oil business increased. This
was a cause of Standard Oil entering the pipeline business, as well as acquiring major oil plants in
several places including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York.
In 1877, Standard Oil showed how powerful it was in a huge way. This was done by Standard Oil
defeating a major challenger, The Empire Transportation Company, a partner

An Analysis Of Invisible Man And Invisible Man
Throughout this course, we have investigated self knowledge and what it means to know one s
self. Each book that we have read has forced us to think critically in order to analyze the
characters and their relations with self knowledge, and Invisible Man was no different. The
Narrator, also known as Invisible Man, faced many challenges when it came to knowing who he
was. By the time that you are done reading this paper, you will know not only what it means to
know who one is, but also to what extent we define identity as they both relate to Invisible Man.
When asking the question what does it mean to know who one is, I believe that it is one that
could be seen in many different ways as it relates to Invisible Man. Some would look at this as
something so basic like him knowing his name or age, but knowing who one is, is something
that goes so much deeper than that. Knowing who one is means knowing oneself from the inside
out. In the book Invisible Man, He didn t really know who he was. The problem that I believe he
faced with his identity was the fact that he was always trying to please others; he was always
trying to reform his life in order to be what he thought others wanted him to be. When the men
from the brotherhood gave him his new name, they told him Get it down so that even if you are
called in the middle of the night you will respond. You are to answer to no other, understand?
Invisible man just accepted it because he felt like who they wanted him to be is who

Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project Case Study
The Ury et al. reading explains that a dispute resolution is used to diagnose an existing conflict,
analyze how the stakeholders that are involved will interact and influence each other, and
determine what processes are involved in resolving this conflict. The Eversource Seacoast
Reliability Project (ESRP) requires approval from the Site Evaluation Committee (SEC), which
means they must go through the SEC application and approval process. This SEC approval
process in itself is a larger dispute system used to create an open relationship between the
stakeholders as well as ensure that the developer meets all the requirements in the approval process.
The ESRP can be dissected into a smaller dispute system within this SEC approval process with the
main conflict of how to create a more reliable energy transmission line in the Seacoast area without
drastically impacting the unique environment in the area. This is the main conflict that the proposed

will have and if there are alternative solutions to using this technology or technique. Many
stakeholders are working on this issue including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but
they have not done an environmental assessment to address this issue. I think I will be able to find
more information as I continue to research the project, but it would be beneficial to all the
stakeholders for the engineering company to produce information pertaining to specific impacts
that this project might cause or even hold a public meeting to further educate the other stakeholders

American Sniper, a family favorite, is a newer movie made in 2015. Directed by Clint Eastwood
and based off of a true story that got more complicated after Chris Kyle himself told it in his
book, Bradley Cooper goes up and beyond as he plays as Navy SEAL, Christopher Scott Kyle.
This movie is filled with special effects and a twisting plot that draws the view in to guarantee it
will be not only watched, but loved from start to finish. From 1999 to 2009, he served for his
country. Chris s pinpoint shooting accuracy saved countless of lives on the battlefield, and for that
reason he became a legend. He was in four tours in the Iraq War and it is accounted that (according

Essay American Airlines Plans for Outsourcing Jobs
American Airlines is one of the major airways in U.S, with its headquarters located in Fort Worth,
Texas. It was founded in 1930 and began operating in 1934 as American Airways. It has been
conducting extensive domestic and international scheduled flights to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean,
South America, and North America. This airline has five main network centers located in airports
of key cities. These include, Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and its main base
Dallas. The actual CEO of the company is Doug Parker, the chairman is Tom Horton, and the
president is Scott Kirby. In the past years, American Airlines faced a downfall in its profits which

streets and giving these jobs to overseas companies.
Tim Pike said (2012), It is ironic American Airlines is going to China, ... You would think
American Airlines would stay in America. And it s very sad they choose to outsource those jobs.
They think they can get it done cheaper. I don t think so.
Even though, outsourcing these jobs to Hong Kong could cost the staff in the maintenance
department to lose their job, it could really beneficiate American Airlines by saving more money on
costs and expenses of their direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead. For example,

Research and Development and Financial Performance of UK Manufacturing Firms
UK manufacturing firms have many factors which influence their financial performance. Research
and Development could be a key factor in determining a firms success, however it does not assure
financial improvement in all businesses due to the extensive variety of business types. Research
and Development can be defined as the scientific investigation necessary to discover new products
and the process of bringing these products onto the market. A manufacturing firm, which generally
refers to a business that makes or processes raw or semi processed materials into either a finished
product or further processed materials, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Research and Development can also be used by small shops and retailers, by means of
questionnaires, staff suggestion boxes, feedback forms and market research etc.. This low amount
of Research and Development is typically normal, as small shops rely more on customer service,
niche markets, and reasonable quality and price products.
Research and Development can often be a very risky process, since much money can be spent on
ideas that will never be commercialised. In product oriented firms, such as manufacturing
companies have many factors which affect their financial performance. Research and Development
is a useful way of improving profits, if there is significant funding, to employ scientists and
researchers to produce and develop the most technically advanced products to date, which can then
be marketed and turned into cash cows or stars. Also Research and Development could develop new
methods to produce existing products, to lower average costs. However this depends on the skill of
the scientists and researchers, because despite how much money is pumped into the Research and
Development department, without ideas, invention and innovation the business will have no
rewards. Furthermore, even if Research and Development does
its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment, which is
unable to be flexible enough to

The Conflict Between The United States And Other Countries...
Both Israelis and Palestinians have been fighting for the same geographical territory for some time.
Arguments presented by both groups are reasonable as to why the area belongs to them considering
they both have historical and religious foundations in the region. The question that arises from
these claims is which group is right, and what appropriate measures should be taken to resolve the
conflict between the groups. For problems such as this, the U.S foreign secretary is called upon to
conduct negotiations that relate to U.S. foreign affairs, and to promote beneficial economic
intercourse between the United States and other countries. While both Israelis and Palestine s
believe they are right in their argument for territory. Both groups need to be more committed in
establishing peace in their region, resolving their differences so they can partake in a better quality
of life. It is important to understand the underlying beliefs of both groups, in order to gain an
understanding of what caused the conflict between them, and whether there can be a resolution.
The State of Israelconsists of two nationalities which are Jews and Palestinians. The Palestinians
are an ethnic group made up of modern descendants of the people who have lived in Palestine
over the centuries, and who today are largely culturally and linguistically considered Arab. The

Behavior-Specific Praise
Teachers of students with or at risk for emotional or behavioral disabilities (EBD) face countless
stressful professional challenges throughout their careers. Students with EBD are being scattered
amongst General Education classrooms and can often exhibit behavioral changes in which many
teachers who have not had proper training or experience in managing may find overwhelming. One
strategy to help maintain engagement and reduce behavioral challenges in a classroom that
includes students with or at risk for EBD is to increase the rate of BehaviorSpecific Praise (BSP).
Offering students praise in the form of a statement which explains which acceptable behavior they
are being praised for can enhance the student s ability to remain on task and engaged in classroom
activities and discussions. Professional development in the area of BSP is necessary in developing
teachers who are more prepared to effectively face the challenges of having students with EBD.
Many strategies have been suggested for training teachers in the use of BSP, each with different
methods of presenting the information to educators. The researchers in this study believe that
further training in BSP is needed in order to produce positive... Show more content on

continuing to utilize the BSP strategy was high, and that they would be reporting the positive

Summary Of Captain Arsham s Diary
Mars, 2076 Captain Abersham drew her sidearm slowly out of its holster. Her feet waltzed
calmly into the brig, her fancy leather boots guiding the way. She took off her captain s hat and
gave it to the soldier guarding the entrance to the brig. Six men sat in a line on their knees. Their
heads were covered with black bags, and their hands tied up behind their backs . Several guards
removed the bags all at once, revealing the prisoners faces. Gentlemen, Abersham began, in her
southern English cadence, pacing back and forth in front of them. Some of the prisoners looked
around for a way out, whilst the more experienced among them looked straight ahead. Here I have a
pistol. A classic revolver. An antique, Abersham continued, admiring the gun, with one arm behind
her back in a formal manner. She gently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prisoner on the very left began crying, sobbing like a child. The Captain was not swayed by
his weeping. She continued. There is one bullet in this gun, she said, overwhelming the faint
cacophony of gunfire that murmured in the background. One by one, I will point this gun at
your heads. One by one, I will pull the trigger. All you have to do to stop me, is tell me the
location of your nuclear devices. None of the prisoners spoke. Abersham continued pacing in front
of them, looking each in the eye. She was a hard looking woman. Grey hair since her thirties.
Abersham was someone who, inexplicably, always looked cold. Freezing, but not daring to admit
it. She stopped her portentous pacing at the crying prisoner: the one on the far left. I think we ll

the movie rental market and it was a first mover in the on line movie rental market. Netflix s
strategy in the movie rental market is differentiation from traditional movie rental stores. Instead of

As a bigger company Blockbuster has the financial funds to attract more subscribers using heavy
marketing. This entry directly enters Netflix s niche market and now Netflix has to find a way
to differentiate. For starters, what would be Netflix s entry strategy to these new markets? It
could ship the DVDs from USA but this option would have serious disadvantages like import
tariffs, shipping costs, long delivery time which would lead to customer dissatisfaction and a
very small market share with probably losses rather than profits. If Netflix would open a
subsidiary in Europe it would not have problems like the latter but it would need investors since
financing the whole subsidiary may present a problem for Netflix. Another issue is that Europe, as
a difference to the US, is consisted of many small independent countries with their own laws and
import tariffs so this could be a problem as well. Another problem is the customers preferences. If
Netflix would try to ship movies from the US (which would also present shipping costs) the
European customers might not like US movies that much. They might prefer European movies
better. Another issue is that Netflix doesn t have an established relationship with any European
movie studio. So they would lose the competitive advantage that they have in the US. Another
problem is the language barrier. In many countries like Germany, Italy, or Spain, movies are

Thomas Eliot Research Paper
When discussing the greatest poetic minds to ever put their genius to use, it is nearly impossible
to not mention Thomas Stearns Eliot. Eliot used his works to develop and display his emotions
and his morals by writing complex themes and descriptive scenes that are all based on simple
situations that either Eliot himself had lived through, or that someone he knew closely had. By
doing so, Eliot was able to convey some of the core human emotions well enough to leave the
reader unsure on how he or she feels about the topic themselves. Often times, the only way to
express emotion, was through his works. The analysis of the life, and the writings of Thomas

In 1917, he was hired by the Lloyds Bank in London where he dealt with the foreign accounts.
While he was working in the bank, he continued to write book reviews and lecture at different
colleges. After working a good portion of his life , Eliot left the bank in 1925 and joined the
publishing firm Faber and Gwyer where he was made its director in later years. In 1927 Eliot
decided to become a British citizen, and during this time Eliot started to realize that his marriage
was unhappy and decided he could no longer withstand the stress. Eliot was offered the Charles
Eliot Norton professorship by Harvard University in 1932 at just the right time, and took this
chance to leave his wife in England. In 1933 he returned to London to get an official separation,

ceremony. Fletcher was nearly 40 years younger than Eliot at the time of their marriage.
Once Eliot had gotten his foothold in the literary world with the help of Ezra Pound, the poet
seemingly found his style, writing and publishing several of the greatest literary works of all time.

Alfred Russel Wallace And His Modern Biogeographical Legacy
Special Assignment
There s No Place Like Home: Alfred Russel Wallace and His Modern Biogeographical Legacy
was presented by Lynne R. Parenti, Ph.D, on April 17,2015. Dr. Parenti presented in University of
Hawaii at Manoa s BioMed building in Room B 103 at 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Dr. Lynne Parenti is a
curator of museum fishes at the National Museum of Natural History in the Smithsonian
Institution. I chose to attend this presentation because the field of biogeography seemed interesting
as well as the history of biogeography.
Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace helped
Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti, Wallace also believed that biology
predicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a
remarkable observation he made, the field of modern biogeography began. Wallace observed two
distinct faunas the Indo Malayan Biotic Area and the Australian Biotic Area that were separated by
a demarcation that was later named Wallace s Line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parenti states that there are three principals to biogeography: endemism, terrain fidelity, and area
classification. In terrain classification, groups of endemic species are predicted by using maps.
Besides using mapping to interpret areas of endemic species, biogeologist use the comparative
method. The comparative method compares animals found in certain biotas. She further explains
that there are two mechanisms that explain endemic distributions: dispersal and vicariance. Dr.
Parenti adds that she is very much in favor for vicariance. She explains that dispersion explains the
movement within an endemic area, but there are no generation

Analysis Of Unwind By Neal Lassiter
Although the population of the world is upwards of seven billion people, society is still an
extremely unwelcoming place for people struggling with their lives. Important figures such as
Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., or Abraham Lincoln stood up for issues like slavery, peace, and
racism that no other person would care about. Even with the incredible advances they made in
humanity though, there are still an unbelievable amount of conflicts between races, gender, and
overall acceptance in today s world. People are idly standing by as the world crumbles away, but
some people such as social activists are trying to make a difference like Connor Lassiter. In
Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, the main protagonist, Connor Lassiter, was a disgrace to his
parents through his misbehaviour in school. He became an Unwind, who would be taken apart to
serve as replacement body parts along with many others his age. While many others were
accepting it as their fate, Connor fought back. He stood up to Unwinding himself and also brought
other Unwind s voices together to form a powerful stance. His will to simply exist empowered
other Unwinds and ultimately changed their society forever, saving thousands to Unwinds to come.
In the spur of the moment, Connor decides not to surrender to the police, but instead grabs a
hostage. Connor s whole life turns upside down as he becomes a criminal and goes on the run.

Gender Inequality And Womens And Empowerment
In world history, gender inequality and women s and empowerment have been an ongoing battle
of victories and setbacks, especially for women. Women are disproportionately affected by
gender inequality; they are often looked at with pity or a need to be protected from the outside
world. This desire to protect women has evolved into a culture of restriction, when it comes to
what women can and cannot do in their day to day lives. The Middle East is especially
susceptible to devaluing women in society. The states that operate within this grouping are
dominated by patriarchal societies that raise men and their standards above those of women. In
Iran women have a difficult time making a name for themselves and are often left feeling very
helpless and alone. Sometimes women have to fight just to be heard and are often silenced by the
government in an attempt to level the playing field between the sexes. Ironically, in Bahrain the
government appears to be in favor of women and establishing them as equals with their male
counterparts. Yet, once inside of the country, it does not take long to realize this is not necessarily
the case. It goes to show that just having laws in place that protect women is not enough to make a
society shift their sexist views towards women in general. It takes an entire state changing their
personal views in order to bring about large change in the area of genderequality and women s
empowerment. This battle takes not just women standing up for

Italy as we know it today did not exist before 1870, the geographical area we now know as Italy

culture and economy. Between 1815 and 1850 a sensation began to progress that these states
should join together to form one country and in 1848 she had her 1st war of independence. Some
argue its help came from Cavour followed by Garibaldi, also others argue it came from the
resentment of foreign rule, first from France and from Austria. However it is significant to consider
added factors including the role of Mazzini.

People like Mazzini and Garibaldi and young Italy who dynamically encouraged and promoted
the idea of a united Italy. Garibaldi played a bigger role than the other factor, as he was seen as
the brave and courageous soldier. Equally as important Cavour was the most important as he
intended to improve Piedmont and also had the connections. Without Cavour Italy wouldn t have
been ready to fight for unification as he was the brain of Italy, he was a realist and not an idealist.
He wanted to create a more modern state that would be captivated by the Italians but on the other
hand without Garibaldi there wouldn t have been any fight in the first place. Lastly resentments

Richard Wagner and Opera Essay
Richard Wagner and Opera
One of the key figures in the history of opera, Wagner was largely responsible for altering its
orientation in the nineteenth century. His program of artistic reform accelerated the trend towards
organically conceived, through composed structures, as well as influencing the development of the
orchestra, of a new breed of singer, and of various aspects of theatrical practice. As the most
influential composer during the second half of the nineteenth century, Richard Wagners conception
of music remains very much with us even a century after his death. He was a remarkable innovator
both in harmony and the structure of his work, creating his own version of the Gesamtkunstwerk,

For Wagner, the function of music was to serve the ends of dramatic expression, and all of his most
important compositions were composed for the theater. Particularly in Tannhauser, Wagner
brilliantly adapted the substance of the German Romantic libretto to the framework of grand opera.
The music evoked the opposite worlds of sin and blessedness with great emotional fervor and a
luxuriant harmony and color. The Pilgrim s Chorus from this opera contains what is perhaps
Wagner s most popular and widely known melody. Fatefully, despite his musical successes,
things took a bad turn for Wagner when, in 1848, he was caught up in political revolution, and
the next year he fled to Weimar where Franz Liszt helped him. Later he fled to Switzerland and
France. Lohengrin was first performed under the direction of Franz Liszt at Weimar in 1850, and
it is the last of Wagner s works that he ever referred to as an opera. Lohengrin embodies several
changes prophetic of the Music Dramas that were to follow it. The story comes from medieval
legend, but Wagner s treatment is generalized and symbolic. The technique of recurring themes was
further developed, particularly with respect to the motives associated with Lohengrin and the Grail.
Using Weber s Der FreischГјtz as a model to a certain extent, Wagner used tonality with his
characters to help organize both the drama and the

Federic Taylor and Taylorism Essays
Federic Taylor and Taylorism Many people and companies have rejected the theory of scientific
management that Frederic Taylor developed in the early 1900 s because it wasn t working
effectively for the companies. However as Rober Kanigel make clear in his biography of Frederick
Taylor One Best Way the problem wasn t with the theory of scientific management, but with the
FredericTaylorand his attempts at managing his own theories. Frederic Taylor was an engineer, a
perfectionist; he didn t have personality skills necessary to be an effective manager or leader.

Taylor did treat people like machines as he worked them as hard as possible, leaving them with no
energy at the end of the day for leisure activities. His stop watch techniques making sure they met
the time goals resulted in the feeling of a large amount of pressure.
Taylor s personality was of being a meticulous and Machiavellian, obsessive about details and
overbearing. He was therefore one of the worst types of people to have as a manager is a very
meticulous person as he was be very demanding and never pleased with the work. Taylor used
what many people call a Theory X style of management, one that threats employees poorly and like
machines. He assumed that people had of no initiative their own to work hard and were only
capable of what they were during then and nothing else.
To fully understand how poorly Taylor implemented his theory, one only needs to look at the
companies he worked at; Bethlehem Steel is a prime example under Taylor s management.
Each task had an instruction card, which laid everything out in black and white and eliminated the
need for the employees to think, and each task was figured out to the fraction of a second, which
wore out employees faster than other systems this is not the life that people want to work for.
While the Taylor system did pay more, employees did not feel that the money didn t compensated
for the other problems that they endured.

Britney Spears Cultural Perspective
As a thirty five year old, Caucasian female, Britney came from an unstable home life. Britney
Spears experienced major successes in her life, but went through some major losses. As a group,
we are analyzing the period in Spears s life that she seemed to break away from social norms and
had odd behaviors: such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, vulgar public actions, and changes to her
appearance. We intend to approach this period in her life with a sociocultural perspective in order
to get to the root of her spiral and how she came back on top.
The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual.
The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live.
The main founder and contributor to the sociocultural perspective was Lev Vygotsky. This theory
suggests that human development is largely involved with social process ( Contemporary
Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective, n.d.). That can produce variation or proliferation without
any seemingly significant changes in complexity. Through time, producing a form of structure can
be qualitatively different from the ancestral form. For example, a person who grew up kissing each
other goodbye will most likely pass that onto their children. The environment that Spears has
experienced directly affected her rambunctious actions. In her childhood, she grew up in a
dysfunctional and disordered family due to the alcoholic rages of her father. From

Mise-en-Scene in Napoleon Dynamite Essay
Mise en Scene in Napoleon Dynamite
In Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess, 2004), the character known as Napoleon Dynamite (Jon
Heder) is quite a unique fellow. His quirkiness and eccentricity are what make him as a character;
they are the primary traits of his personality. Keep in mind, however, that he is not the only odd
character in the film, but he has his own peerless way of defining himself separate from any other
character(s). This effect is achieved through certain cinematic techniques that director Jared Hess
utilizes in order to bring out Napoleon s persona in ways other than simply guessing who he really
is. Rather, these techniques explicitly imply certain character traits; they are like clues that allow

Additionally, considerable portion of the significant sound in the film occurs in the music. The
most blatant effect of the music is the cheesy MIDI arrangements. These outdated compositions
portray the tackiness of Napoleon; he and the music are clearly out of style. One of the crudest
examples of this is when Napoleon buys his suit; the muzak in the background is as unbearably
corny as Napoleon s taste in clothing. Albeit music is a fundamental factor in Napoleon Dynamite,
it is not the only element of sound that is relevant.
The sound effects in the film also give clues as to what kind of person Napoleon really is. One
supporting example is when he is eating tots in the middle of class. The unnecessarily loud
crunching noise portrays his manifest lack of craftiness and style. There was one audio technique,
however, that was extremely puzzling. In every scene inside a house, there is a very subtle
background of birds chirping. This emphasizes the fact that Napoleon lives a rural community,
rather than a busy suburb or city setting. This sound is extremely understated, however, and is
obviously intended to be a subconscious feature to the viewer.
Napoleon uses some of his own characteristic sounds in the film to facilitate who he is. As a matter
of fact, the first sound he makes in the movie is long, depressed sigh when he sees the school bus
approaching. This

The Benefits of a Gender-Neutral Housing Facility
Introduction There are at least 54 universities and colleges which have, in the past 10 years, instated
the gender neutral housing and option for the students (National Student, 2012). These options
have been implemented in various different ways in the colleges and universities. There are
universities such as the Brandeis University that only provides the upper class students with the
option of gender neutral housing whereas, in the Hampshire College, students from any year can
have any roommate that they want even if they are from the opposite sex. Rutgers University also
allows the upper class students with the option of living in gender neutral housing; this option was
implemented in the university after a student committed suicide as he was being victimized by a
homophobic. In case of Harvard University only the self identified transgender students are allowed
to live in the gender neutral houses. The possible reason for this increasing trend of gender neutral
housing in many colleges and universities is the fact that these universities have accepted the fact
that the sex segregated housing can t fulfill the needs of all the students studying and living there
(Students for a Democratic Society, 2012). This paper thus analyzes the impact that the growing
popularity of gender neutral housings has had on the overall academic environment. The gender
group chosen for this paper is the stereotypes of the self identified homosexuals. What are the

The second key to having a successful business is to provide value by working towards the same
goal inspires in the team members with a strong sense of purpose. The team sees value in
working together to accomplish a certain goal that gives them a meaningful reason to work
together, along with receiving mutual benefits for the company as well as the team. And the last
key thing to having a successful business is that everybody does an equal amount of work. This
is very important to having a successful business because it provides every team member with
equal opportunities to participate and communicate their ideas. This to me is very helpful to make
me a better computer technician and I now will know what to do if I ever have to work in a group.
The third thing I found to be very important to help me better become a computer technician is
netiquette. The word netiquette has been made to encourage a common sense and politeness, and to
establish general rules for Internet etiquette. In order to conduct a productive and effective career
search, it is critical to practice good networking etiquette. Five key important things about netiquette

Taming Of The Shrew By Petruchio
In Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare, Petruchio took on the challenge of winning over
Kate by taking complete control over her. He not only controlled her way of living, but also her
mental and emotional capabilities. For example, Petruchio was able to have Kate laugh and speak
at his command. Not only that, but he was also able to controlher voice at any given moment.
Nowadays people are not able to have this much authority over another, except in certain
situations. The reason this absurd method worked on Kate was because she was raised up in a
society where women did not have much say in most matters. However, if this method were to
have taken place today, it would not have worked because of the change in society.
In lines 1782 1784, Petruchio said and better twere that both of us did fast, since, of ourselves,
ourselves are choleric, than feed it with such over roasted flesh. Petruchio said this in response to
the horrible food his servants served him and his newly wed, Katherine. Even though Katherine did
not mind the food, Petruchio s extreme caring quality took over, and made both of them go without
eating dinner. This particular scene is important not only because it was the start of Petruchio s
master plan to win over Kate, but also because it demonstrates the ability of a person to take over
another person s way of living by depriving them their basic necessities they would need in their
life. By doing this, Katherine would now have to atleast listen

Ammon Ford s Poem
Does poetry really stand a chance if you just read between the lines and not dig deeper to find
the full meaning of the poem? In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy
Evening, he strives to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to
further develop his full ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they
represent society and being on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in
the poem. In the article Ford summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frosts poem Stopping by the
Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford explains how there are many meanings to the poem.
Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also,
he explains how there could be many more meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost
presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the
article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that
there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford realizes that the deeper meaning
to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the deeper meanings in the
poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his deeper meanings
when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the promises.
Ford is further developing this symbolinto another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does not
just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level
Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs
deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level.
Despite him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the
other hand Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them.
When Ford states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols
in Frost s poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging
for the true meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations

The Dichotomy Of The Role Of Women In Agamemnon
To the outside, modern day, western observer, the role of women in Agamemnon makes a pretty
clear mark as to how the Ancient Greeks viewed women. Notably, that they seem to hate them. Of
the five women who are mentioned at all in the story, only one is portrayed positively, and even
she is murdered and then only praised and remembered for her beautiful virginity, and her voice.
Repeatedly throughout the play the women are demonized for things that are not necessarily their
fault, and often times are the fault of the men who blame them. While these women can be less than
morally pure, a strangely large amount of blame and doubt gets placed upon them while men are
mourned for heroic deeds and have their misdeeds overlooked. This dichotomy between the two
genders is perhaps clearest between the title character Agamemnonand his wife, Clytemnestra, but
can be seen in sharp detail through the combination of all the women. In the case of
Clytemnestra, there is no doubt that she was wrong in cheating although it was likely that her
husband did as well. However, one of her first interactions on stage is of the chorus doubting her
for seemingly no reason, until she got incredibly graphic with her details which caused them to
exclaim how much her words were like a man s, and then believe her. This kind of persistent lack
of confidence despite her repeatedly proving herself to be just as capable can understandably lead
to a strained relationship between her and her people, and yet

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Natural Gas
Introduction: (1, 2)
Natural gas is colorless, shapeless, and odorless in its pure form. The gaseous fossil fuel consists
chiefly of methane but comprises significant amounts of ethane, propane, butane, and pentane
heavier hydrocarbons removed prior to use as a customer fuel, as well as nitrogen, helium and
hydrogen sulfide. Natural gas is flammable and gives off a prodigious deal of vigor when
scorched. Would involve energy regularly, to heat homes, cook food, and produce electricity, it is
this need for energy that has raised up natural gas to such a level of position.

Disadvantages of Natural Gas:

  • 2. Ellis Mckay. Gerry Wixted. 01-23-2017. The Standard Oil Ellis McKay Gerry Wixted 01 23 2017 The Standard Oil Company In the mid 1800s, oil became a huge component of American lifestyle, as it was included in a lot of things including medicine, lubricants, and kerosene for lighting. After Edwin Drake drilled the first successful oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania in August 1859 , many small oil companies began to appear throughout northwestern Pennsylvania to capitalize on the new source of revenue. By the 1860s, the oil industry consisted of four independent oil industries. These were the producers, refiners, shippers, and distributors . Talks among the four industries was almost nonexistent. Due to the lack of talking, John D. Rockefeller and Samuel Andrews saw a great financial opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way by which Standard Oil was able to expand was when Rockefeller became worried about the overproduction of oil, which would lead to falling prices. Due to his worries, Rockefeller made up a plan with an alliance of refiners (people who owned the oil processing plants). By the end of 1872, Standard Oil had acquired 34 former rivals, taken control of Cleveland, made alliances with several key New York refiners, and secured even lower shipping rates . Due to such low shipping rates, Standard Oil began to produce other products such as lubricants, candles, paints, and dyes. As a result of how powerful Standard Oil was getting, both refiners and producers looked to bring order to the oil industry. However, nothing was accomplished. Rockefeller took advantage of this situation, and in August 1872, he became president of the National Refiners Association , an effort to control the production and prices of oil. However, the refiners association lasted less than a year. From 1873 1876, Standard Oil expanded drastically as its role in the oil business increased. This was a cause of Standard Oil entering the pipeline business, as well as acquiring major oil plants in several places including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York. In 1877, Standard Oil showed how powerful it was in a huge way. This was done by Standard Oil defeating a major challenger, The Empire Transportation Company, a partner ... • 3. An Analysis Of Invisible Man And Invisible Man Throughout this course, we have investigated self knowledge and what it means to know one s self. Each book that we have read has forced us to think critically in order to analyze the characters and their relations with self knowledge, and Invisible Man was no different. The Narrator, also known as Invisible Man, faced many challenges when it came to knowing who he was. By the time that you are done reading this paper, you will know not only what it means to know who one is, but also to what extent we define identity as they both relate to Invisible Man. When asking the question what does it mean to know who one is, I believe that it is one that could be seen in many different ways as it relates to Invisible Man. Some would look at this as something so basic like him knowing his name or age, but knowing who one is, is something that goes so much deeper than that. Knowing who one is means knowing oneself from the inside out. In the book Invisible Man, He didn t really know who he was. The problem that I believe he faced with his identity was the fact that he was always trying to please others; he was always trying to reform his life in order to be what he thought others wanted him to be. When the men from the brotherhood gave him his new name, they told him Get it down so that even if you are called in the middle of the night you will respond. You are to answer to no other, understand? Invisible man just accepted it because he felt like who they wanted him to be is who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project Case Study The Ury et al. reading explains that a dispute resolution is used to diagnose an existing conflict, analyze how the stakeholders that are involved will interact and influence each other, and determine what processes are involved in resolving this conflict. The Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project (ESRP) requires approval from the Site Evaluation Committee (SEC), which means they must go through the SEC application and approval process. This SEC approval process in itself is a larger dispute system used to create an open relationship between the stakeholders as well as ensure that the developer meets all the requirements in the approval process. The ESRP can be dissected into a smaller dispute system within this SEC approval process with the main conflict of how to create a more reliable energy transmission line in the Seacoast area without drastically impacting the unique environment in the area. This is the main conflict that the proposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have found some information on the specific technology that will be used to bury the transmission line under the Great Bay, but I think it is important to understand what specific impacts this process will have and if there are alternative solutions to using this technology or technique. Many stakeholders are working on this issue including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but they have not done an environmental assessment to address this issue. I think I will be able to find more information as I continue to research the project, but it would be beneficial to all the stakeholders for the engineering company to produce information pertaining to specific impacts that this project might cause or even hold a public meeting to further educate the other stakeholders on their technology and ... Research and Development is a useful way of improving profits, if there is significant funding, to employ scientists and researchers to produce and develop the most technically advanced products to date, which can then be marketed and turned into cash cows or stars. Also Research and Development could develop new methods to produce existing products, to lower average costs. However this depends on the skill of the scientists and researchers, because despite how much money is pumped into the Research and Development department, without ideas, invention and innovation the business will have no rewards. Furthermore, even if Research and Development does its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment, which is unable to be flexible enough to ... Arguments presented by both groups are reasonable as to why the area belongs to them considering they both have historical and religious foundations in the region. The question that arises from these claims is which group is right, and what appropriate measures should be taken to resolve the conflict between the groups. For problems such as this, the U.S foreign secretary is called upon to conduct negotiations that relate to U.S. foreign affairs, and to promote beneficial economic intercourse between the United States and other countries. Students with EBD are being scattered amongst General Education classrooms and can often exhibit behavioral changes in which many teachers who have not had proper training or experience in managing may find overwhelming. One strategy to help maintain engagement and reduce behavioral challenges in a classroom that includes students with or at risk for EBD is to increase the rate of BehaviorSpecific Praise (BSP). Offering students praise in the form of a statement which explains which acceptable behavior they are being praised for can enhance the student s ability to remain on task and engaged in classroom activities and discussions. Professional development in the area of BSP is necessary in developing teachers who are more prepared to effectively face the challenges of having students with EBD. This entry directly enters Netflix s niche market and now Netflix has to find a way to differentiate. For starters, what would be Netflix s entry strategy to these new markets? It could ship the DVDs from USA but this option would have serious disadvantages like import tariffs, shipping costs, long delivery time which would lead to customer dissatisfaction and a very small market share with probably losses rather than profits. If Netflix would open a subsidiary in Europe it would not have problems like the latter but it would need investors since financing the whole subsidiary may present a problem for Netflix. Another issue is that Europe, as a difference to the US, is consisted of many small independent countries with their own laws and import tariffs so this could be a problem as well. Another problem is the customers preferences. If Netflix would try to ship movies from the US (which would also present shipping costs) the European customers might not like US movies that much. By doing so, Eliot was able to convey some of the core human emotions well enough to leave the reader unsure on how he or she feels about the topic themselves. Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace helped Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti, Wallace also believed that biology predicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a remarkable observation he made, the field of modern biogeography began. Women are disproportionately affected by gender inequality; they are often looked at with pity or a need to be protected from the outside world. This desire to protect women has evolved into a culture of restriction, when it comes to what women can and cannot do in their day to day lives. The Middle East is especially susceptible to devaluing women in society. The states that operate within this grouping are dominated by patriarchal societies that raise men and their standards above those of women. In Iran women have a difficult time making a name for themselves and are often left feeling very helpless and alone. Sometimes women have to fight just to be heard and are often silenced by the government in an attempt to level the playing field between the sexes. Ironically, in Bahrain the government appears to be in favor of women and establishing them as equals with their male counterparts. Yet, once inside of the country, it does not take long to realize this is not necessarily the case. It goes to show that just having laws in place that protect women is not enough to make a society shift their sexist views towards women in general. It takes an entire state changing their personal views in order to bring about large change in the area of genderequality and women s empowerment. This battle takes not just women standing up for ... For Wagner, the function of music was to serve the ends of dramatic expression, and all of his most important compositions were composed for the theater. Particularly in Tannhauser, Wagner brilliantly adapted the substance of the German Romantic libretto to the framework of grand opera. The music evoked the opposite worlds of sin and blessedness with great emotional fervor and a luxuriant harmony and color. The Pilgrim s Chorus from this opera contains what is perhaps Wagner s most popular and widely known melody. Fatefully, despite his musical successes, things took a bad turn for Wagner when, in 1848, he was caught up in political revolution, and the next year he fled to Weimar where Franz Liszt helped him. Later he fled to Switzerland and France. Lohengrin was first performed under the direction of Franz Liszt at Weimar in 1850, and it is the last of Wagner s works that he ever referred to as an opera. Lohengrin embodies several changes prophetic of the Music Dramas that were to follow it. The story comes from medieval legend, but Wagner s treatment is generalized and symbolic. Britney Spears experienced major successes in her life, but went through some major losses. As a group, we are analyzing the period in Spears s life that she seemed to break away from social norms and had odd behaviors: such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, vulgar public actions, and changes to her appearance. We intend to approach this period in her life with a sociocultural perspective in order to get to the root of her spiral and how she came back on top. The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual. The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live. The main founder and contributor to the sociocultural perspective was Lev Vygotsky. Albeit music is a fundamental factor in Napoleon Dynamite, it is not the only element of sound that is relevant. The sound effects in the film also give clues as to what kind of person Napoleon really is. One supporting example is when he is eating tots in the middle of class. The unnecessarily loud crunching noise portrays his manifest lack of craftiness and style. There was one audio technique, however, that was extremely puzzling. • 30. The Benefits of a Gender-Neutral Housing Facility Introduction There are at least 54 universities and colleges which have, in the past 10 years, instated the gender neutral housing and option for the students (National Student, 2012). These options have been implemented in various different ways in the colleges and universities. There are universities such as the Brandeis University that only provides the upper class students with the option of gender neutral housing whereas, in the Hampshire College, students from any year can have any roommate that they want even if they are from the opposite sex. Rutgers University also allows the upper class students with the option of living in gender neutral housing; this option was implemented in the university after a student committed suicide as he was being victimized by a homophobic. In case of Harvard University only the self identified transgender students are allowed to live in the gender neutral houses. The possible reason for this increasing trend of gender neutral housing in many colleges and universities is the fact that these universities have accepted the fact that the sex segregated housing can t fulfill the needs of all the students studying and living there (Students for a Democratic Society, 2012). This paper thus analyzes the impact that the growing popularity of gender neutral housings has had on the overall academic environment. The gender group chosen for this paper is the stereotypes of the self identified homosexuals. What are the advantages and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Taming Of The Shrew By Petruchio In Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare, Petruchio took on the challenge of winning over Kate by taking complete control over her. He not only controlled her way of living, but also her mental and emotional capabilities. For example, Petruchio was able to have Kate laugh and speak at his command. Not only that, but he was also able to controlher voice at any given moment. Nowadays people are not able to have this much authority over another, except in certain situations. The reason this absurd method worked on Kate was because she was raised up in a society where women did not have much say in most matters. However, if this method were to have taken place today, it would not have worked because of the change in society. In lines 1782 1784, Petruchio said and better twere that both of us did fast, since, of ourselves, ourselves are choleric, than feed it with such over roasted flesh. Petruchio said this in response to the horrible food his servants served him and his newly wed, Katherine. Even though Katherine did not mind the food, Petruchio s extreme caring quality took over, and made both of them go without eating dinner. This particular scene is important not only because it was the start of Petruchio s master plan to win over Kate, but also because it demonstrates the ability of a person to take over another person s way of living by depriving them their basic necessities they would need in their life. By doing this, Katherine would now have to atleast listen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, he strives to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to further develop his full ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they represent society and being on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in the poem. In the article Ford summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frosts poem Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford explains how there are many meanings to the poem. Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also, he explains how there could be many more meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford realizes that the deeper meaning to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the deeper meanings in the poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his deeper meanings when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the promises. Ford is further developing this symbolinto another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does not just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level. Despite him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the other hand Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them. When Ford states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols in Frost s poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging for the true meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. The Dichotomy Of The Role Of Women In Agamemnon To the outside, modern day, western observer, the role of women in Agamemnon makes a pretty clear mark as to how the Ancient Greeks viewed women. Notably, that they seem to hate them. Of the five women who are mentioned at all in the story, only one is portrayed positively, and even she is murdered and then only praised and remembered for her beautiful virginity, and her voice. Repeatedly throughout the play the women are demonized for things that are not necessarily their fault, and often times are the fault of the men who blame them. While these women can be less than morally pure, a strangely large amount of blame and doubt gets placed upon them while men are mourned for heroic deeds and have their misdeeds overlooked. This dichotomy between the two genders is perhaps clearest between the title character Agamemnonand his wife, Clytemnestra, but can be seen in sharp detail through the combination of all the women. In the case of Clytemnestra, there is no doubt that she was wrong in cheating although it was likely that her husband did as well. However, one of her first interactions on stage is of the chorus doubting her for seemingly no reason, until she got incredibly graphic with her details which caused them to exclaim how much her words were like a man s, and then believe her. This kind of persistent lack of confidence despite her repeatedly proving herself to be just as capable can understandably lead to a strained relationship between her and her people, and yet ...
