Adam Smith s Economic Philosophy
If I was to create the perfect society today, I would use Adam Smith s economic philosophy. Adam
Smith is known today as a modern philosopher. In order for a society to prosper, Smith believed
that their economy would have to function as a capitalist economy. The perfect, most efficient,
society would include specifically Smith s capitalist ideas of the division of labor, the sufficient pay
of workers, and would not include the use of slavery. These ideas will make the perfect society
prosper.
The most important component of having the perfect, most efficient society, would be the division
of labor. The division of labor consists of one person doing one small task, another person doing
another small task, and other workers continuing the same process until the final product is
complete. An example of this would be the use of an assembly line while making pins, as Smith
mentions in his book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith
explains that the larger pin manufacture he saw with many workers, was more efficient than the
small manufacture of only ten employed workers who could make upwards of forty eight thousand
pins in a day (Smith, 4). Smith then goes on to explain that, But if they had all wrought separately
and independently...in consequence of a proper division and combination of their different
operations (Smith, 4 5). Smith is saying that the workers could have made more than forty eight
thousand pins in a day if they divided there

Loss of Identity in Invisible Man Essay
Loss of Identity in Invisible Man
No matter how hard the Invisible Man tries, he can never break from the mold of black society.
This mold is crafted and held together by white society during the novel. The stereotypes and
expectations of a racist society compel blacks to behave only in certain ways, never allowing them
to act according to their own will. Even the actions of black activists seeking equality are
manipulated as if they are marionettes on strings. Throughout the novel the Invisible Man
encounters this phenomenon and although he strives to achieve his own identity in society, his
determination is that it is impossible.
In the beginning of the novel, the Invisible Man is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The marionette metaphor is therefore exemplified in a physical sense. However the Invisible Man
observes others in the book that manifest this metaphor in a psychological sense.
The concept of blindness is a reoccurring theme in the book that serves to control the blacks.
Reverend Barbee s sermon is the first encounter involving symbolic blindness. The sermon
reinforces the values of the school, which give the impression that blacks have the opportunity to
gain true equality if they work hard enough. Barbee tells the story of the founder of the school.
Barbee regards the Founder as a god of sorts, whose ideology should be trusted completely, like a
religion. The sermon declares that the Founder s ideology and life represent a universal example
that should be followed. Interestingly enough, Barbee is physically blind and therefore displays
how this ideology is followed blindly. This serves to pigeon hole the efforts of the students at the
college, keeping them in control, further emulating this marionette metaphor. Although at this point
in the book the Invisible Man does not yet realize it, this is his first encounter with this metaphor in
a psychological sense.
Later on in the novel, the Invisible Man joins the Brotherhood, and the theme of

The Pandinus Imperator a.k.a. Emperor Scorpion
The Pandinus imperator, also known as the Emperor Scorpion or the Imperial Scorpion, is
native to the hot, humid forests and savannas of Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the
Congo Region. The Emperor Scorpion is the largest, but not the longest of all the scorpions8.
They are also not as vicious as they look, they would rather flee than fight. However, if they are
cornered they will turn aggressive and go to defensive position. Their venom is categorized as
mild and is only as harmful as a bee sting, unless you are allergic. Their large pedipalps (pinchers)
are strong enough to draw blood from a human. In this paper the topic that will be discussed is how
human action can improve the terrestrial environment that is home to the Emperor Scorpion.
Humans need to stop keeping them as pets, slow down deforestation, and plant more tress. The
Emperor Scorpion belongs to the phylum Arthropoda, the name Arthropoda means jointed feet. An
arthropodis an organism that has a hard exoskeleton made out of a hard substance called chitin.
Its body is segmented and each part of its body has its own pair of legs, which are jointed, and it
is also an invertebrate10. An invertebrate is an organism that lacks a vertebral column which is also
called a backbone11. Every phylum of invertebrates has its own special characteristics, for example
cnidarians, of the phylum Cnidaria, have special stinging organs called nematocysts. While

God s Omnipotence Essay
God s Omnipotence
The theological problem of evil is a problem that many philosophers have tried to solve. The
problem is stated as, if one believes that god is omnipotent and wholly good, why does evil still
exist? In this writing I will discuss the solutions/propositions of John L. Mackie in his work, Evil
and Omnipotence. I will do this in order to illustrate the concept of free will for understanding or
resolving the problem, and to reveal how and why Mackie arrives at his conclusions. In the
beginning of Mackie s work he writes a brief introduction to fully expose the problem of evil, and to
set guidelines for determining whether or not the problem applies to one. Mackie states that in his
work one must be prepared to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point in Mackies work he is reaching the end of the introduction and is going to proceed
to his next section, Adequate Solutions. The Adequate Solutions section is used by Mackie to
show how some individual s adopt solutions to the problem of evil that will conclude by proving
inconsistent. In this section Mackie first exposes that there is a large number of adequate
solutions to the problem of evil. He then provides examples of some of these solutions. One of
the adequate solution examples that he states is that, some individuals use the term
omnipotence while severely restricting its meaning. Mackie then provides another example of
how some believe that evil is merely a lack of that which is good, and that evil which opposes
good does not exist. Mackie uses these examples of Adequate Solutions to show that if one
adopts any of these solutions, then one will not be able to full realize the problem of evil. Now
that Mackie has shown that Adequate Solutions will not prove to be sufficient solutions for the
problem of evil, he moves to the next section, Fallicious Solutions. This section is where the
solutions to the problem of evil will prove applicable but fallacious through argument. Mackie
explains that he will be trying to consider whether or not it is possible to arrive at an adequate
solution by

Impact of the Crusades

History A
Impact of the Crusades
The Crusades were a very important part of history. It has been said that The Crusades are what
started the beginning of modernization. Not only were they what started the beginning of
modernization, they also had many impacts on Europe. The four major areas of impact on Europe
were in the Economic, Political, Social, and Religious parts. Though all the areas were impacted,
not all were good impacts.
One of the areas that will be focused on is the Economic area. The Crusades were very commerce.
Commerce is the activity of buying and selling, especially on a large scale. The Crusades were

How Did You Call The Period Between 1860 And 1877 Nothing...
As the Civil War ended, conflict, that was much less violent, arose. The matter of putting the
country back together laid heavily upon the shoulders of the government. Questions of rights to
power emanated. Discrimination grew steadily more powerful. This period of time was not as
radical as events such as the Revolutionary War that began the country, but the many parallels to it
brought it awfully close. Through questioning of the central and state governmentpower levels,
heavy constitutional observation and interpretation, and morality based decision making, it is fair
to call the period between 1860 and 1877 nothing short of revolutionary.
The Revolutionary War was as its title states; revolutionary. The people of the colonies were
disconsolate with the power that Great Britain was exhibiting over them. Similarly, the South was
unhappy with the central governments right to declare the way they discriminated against the black
peoples unlawful. In South Carolina s Declaration of Causes of Secession, they directly stated that
the exercise of certain of their powers was restrained, which necessarily imperiled their continued
existence as sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monumental fluctuations, which effected the lives of many, occurred in this time period,
changing the way people lived, both black and white. The constitution was catechized in many
ways by people searching for answers to impossibly unpredictable questions. The world as many
Americans knew it resolved drastically in several different ways. Though it was no Revolutionary
War, the few years between 1860 and 1877 were revolutionary years for the ever growing structure

Summary Of The Tone Of Carrt Sandburg Grass
The Sorrowful Tone of Carl Sandburg Grass In the poem, Grass, Robert Sandburg gives a
personification to the grass, and gives us a strong message about war. Sandburg mentions several
wars and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely
damaged due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away. On the
first line, Sandburg starts his poem by giving us a disturbing image of the aftermath of war. The line
Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo tells us how there were many casualties during
these two wars. The battle of Austerlitz left more than fifteen thousand casualties not to mention
the Battle of Waterloo which left more than twenty five thousand casualties. Although these
wars occurred more than two hundred years ago, it is something still remembered in history, and
at the time when all the tragedies occurred we can infer that it left many people grieving for the
loss of their loved ones. Wars have always been disastrous, tragic events that end physically and
emotionally the lives of many people, including adults and children. Going back to the poem,
the grass is the narrator of the poem and by reading the first line we can deduce that it, the grass,
tells the remaining soldiers, or the people taking care of the dead bodies, to pile them up because
having them spread out across the field would probably would take up a lot of space that could be
needed for other soldiers or medics. Now,

The Artist Pablo Picasso
The artist Pablo Picasso is quite possibly one of the most famous artists to ever live. While he
was one of the greatest painters, he was also a man of many talents. He was a painter, sculptor,
printmaker, ceramicist and stage designer. Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the
20th century, as well as the co founder of Cubism. His creativity, empathy, and mastery in the arts
has led him to become such a revolutionary artist. He devoted his life to painting and artistic
production for the simple fact of wanting to contribute to modern art in the 20th century. Picasso
was born Pablo Diego JosГ© Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno MarГa de los Remedios
Cipriano de la SantГsima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito RuГz y Picasso on October 25th, 1881 in
MГЎlaga, Spain. Picasso s parents were Don JosГ© Ruiz Blasco and DoГ±a MarГa Picasso y
LГіpez. Picasso s father was a painter and art teacher. Picasso was introduced to art by his father.
Picasso showed a passion and displayed a prodigious talent for drawing at an early age. His father
decided to formally train him, at the age of seven, in the art of oil painting and figure drawing.
Picasso was a precocious boy whose budding talent grew to overshadow that of his father. By the
time he was 13.
The painting, Les Demoiselles d Avignon, was painted by Picasso in the year 1907 and is the most
famous example of cubism painting, as it is considered the first cubist piece of artwork. With this
piece Picasso marked an extensive break from the traditional characteristics of painting, he
abandoned all aspects of traditional art with this piece. He veered far from the representation and
form often seen in traditional art at the time. He depicted five naked women prostitutes in a brothel,
but the women were far from realistic. Picasso had drawn them nothing like the traditional paintings
of women. Their bodies were made up of flat, splintered planes rather than rounded volumes, their
eyes were drawn lopsided, and their faces were off putting. With this painting Picasso did things
that no other artist had contemplated at the time. This visual violent piece evokes and liberates
eroticism. This piece and its unbinding desire was unprecedented in art and in the culture of that

Comparing Gilgamesh And Amarna Letters
In the Babylonian pantheon, Nabu, son of Marduk, invented bestowed the art of writing in
cuneiform to man, although it s commonly accepted that it began in the late fourth millennium
B.C.E. With it, people kept records of trades and inventories, wrote chronicles of their kings,
epics depicting legendary characters like Gilgamesh, and sonnets to recite to worship their gods.
While many could stake some claim to basic literacy, scribes were the only ones able to truly
master the language afters year of practice, leading to information on the daily lives of
Babylonians being omitted from our knowledge. However, kings had the luxury of personal
scribes, and would utilize them to write letters to their foreign kings. One such example is the

The Frontispice And Incipit Of The Gelasian Sacrament
The Frontispice and Incipit of the Gelasian Sacrament, is the art from the first two pages of the
Gelasian Sacrament. While it is impossible to know for certain, since this piece was neither signed
nor dated, it is widely accepted that this piece was created by nuns in the nunnery at Chelles. The
nunnery at Chelles is famous for having cultivated the art of writing. 1 The story of the journey of
this codex is unknown. From the nunnery in France, this codex spent time in the library of Queen
Christina of Sweden, before heading to the Vatican Library. But other than these three location, the
whereabouts of this book through the century are unknown. What is known is this codex was made
for priest not bishops and was used in Roman churches in the seventh century. 2 Also, it has not,
however, reached us in its original form, but with modifications and additions made by generation
after generation. 3
The two pages are strikingly similar. They both use the same color scheme of red outlines, with red,
blue, green and yellow decorations. The figures used on both pages are similar, crosses, birds,
horses, fish, and felines. Also, the stylistic choice of putting figures inside circles was reoccurring.
In the Frontispice, the image on the left, there is a decorative arch encasing a cross. It appears that
the artist attempted to make the image symmetrical, with the line of symmetry running vertically
down the middle of the page. There is only one definite difference between the

America remembers what it did to its Black slaves and is sorry. America remembers what

schools that stripped them of everything they were raised to believe. Schools today do not teach
much on the topic of Native American boarding schools, so students either know nothing about
them or very little.
The first and most famous boarding school was in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It opened in 1878 and
was run by Richard Pratt. ( Remembering Our Indian... ). Pratt forced students to live with good
white families for at least part of the year to see the type of character they are supposed to have.

People during this time mainly lived on farms and did not have a fast way to get into town. So

Social And Economic Welfare Of A Country Essay
Developed in 1930s, GDP defined as the value of all the goods and services produced within a
country in a given financial year (Heloisa, 2012). GDP is significant as it measures size and
performance of an economy. GDP uses growth rate to quantity the economic activity and this
assists policy makers to adjust and implement economic policy during recession and depression,
as it obliges as a precise indicator of the business climate where it provides all the essential data
to government and business so they can adjust and think of ways to survive (Macroeconomics,
2011). Economically it functions as a modest representation for social and economic welfare of a
country and this helps economist worldwide to study and compare different countries in terms of
life expectancy, wealth, income, education level and many other indicators (Macroeconomics,
2011). However, on the other side GDP has been relentlessly critiqued by many economists as it
doesn t take into account non market activities such as unpaid voluntary work or illegal trade.
Second, criticism of GDP is that it doesn t not take into consideration the distribution of nation
wealth s, as it only feeds an estimated of each person share of the market economy it ignores the
fact that some people level of income is higher than others hence, due to unequal distribution the
level of poverty in some countries is difficult to assess. Furthermore, it doesn t even account for

that deals with the relationships of organisms interacting with their environment and other

talking about sun: the sun is the main source of energy because it starts many processes like

is the movement of carbon through respiration, photosynthesis, fossil fuel emissions, and animal
waste products. Following this is the nitrogen, which is taking the nitrogen

Privacy In George Orwell s 1984, The National Social Agency
As Marlon Brando once said, Privacy is not something that I m merely entitled to , it s an
absolute prerequisite. In George Orwell s 1984, the people of Oceania had no privacy. They
were being controlled and being monitor by a totalitarian government known as Big Brother. In
today s Society, the National Social Agency (NSA) spies on us through our phones, computers,
cameras, etc. The novel 1984 and it s telescreens are similar to the NSA. Orwell is effective in
making people aware of that issue, however, it failed to predict that today s society willingly
contributes to the NSA surveillance.
Who knew that Orwell s 1984 and today s NSA would be so alike. If you want to keep a secret you
must keep it from yourself (). This illustrates that in 1984 their privacy was limited. ... Show more

An article called The Guardian stated a study released on 14 January.... Americans often are
willing to give up some level of privacy if there is a perceived tangible benefit, at least to a point
Why is that? Is it because if we contribute to the NSA they will keep us safe. By giving them the
opportunity to invalid or privacy they could find those criminals that are doing wrong. Even
though we know the NSA spies on we still use our phones and computers etc. In orwell s 1984
Freedom is slavery . Big Brother is the leader of Oceania. His people were slaves because they
could not do anything without him knowing. They will get punished if they did not do so. Even
though the people of Oceania were slaves they were safe. Well it is not like they had a choice
right. The difference between the NSA and 1984 is that americans let the NSA spy on us and in
1984 they were force. But the difference between that is in 1984 they were safer then the americans
today because they were stricter. Freedom being protected comes at a cost. You have to give

While conducting Perishable and Frozen LTO studies, it was noted that methodology for handling
commingled double deep pallets was not being followed correctly by LTO Drivers and caused

The proper procedure for handling commingled pallets from any double deep reserve locations is:
LTO driver arrives at the system directed reserve location, vertical lift and retrieve entire pallet
stack (unless the system directed pallet is obtainable).
LTO driver must RPK the non requested pallet(s) back to an available reserve location.

Critical Analysis Of Oedipus The King
Critical Analysis: Oedipus the King Oedipus the King is a tragic play showing a shift from the
belief of fate to freedom of choice. Therefore, Oedipus the king is a great example of those who
run from fate ends up fulfilling their fate After reading this type of tragic play Oedipus the King
written by Sophoclesyou can see that the author did a very outstanding form of presenting a tragedy
that has the characteristics of mimesis and a tragic hero. Specifically, the writer written the play
that would leave many readers to be able to relate to and have a character whom characteristics are
noble and basically good. A purpose of tragedy is catharsis . In other words, the main reason for a
tragedy in a play is to purge an individual of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, however, Oedipus hubris ways led to his tragic reality. He lost his wife. He lost his
eyesight. He lost his children. He lost his kingship. With all his confidence and his persistence,
he uncovered the riddles of his life and found out that he was the boy born of Laius and Jocasta
who was the subject of the prophecy. His intelligence, pride and confidence led to this discovery,
which resulted in him losing everything that he had which in the end he fulfilled his fate. The
most crucial point in the play Oedipus the king was the fact that Oedipus was completely
unaware that he killed his own father. He had a mission to find out who was his father s killer.
Effectively the more Oedipus was motivated and with his excessive confidence in knowing the
truth of who killed his father, the play began to unravel and starts to fit together like the pieces
of a puzzle that Oedipus was known for figuring out. The more he pushed in finding who his
father killer was the more he was towards his reality of terror. The place where three roads meet
was the place where Laius was killed and the place where Oedipus, himself had killed a man. He
thought his father was a man named Polypus, the king of Corinth yet a man had shouted out at a
banquet that he was not his father s son. He was given a apprehension of a future great with pain,
terror, disaster...You are fated to couple with your mother, you will bring a breed of children

Nucor at a Crossroads
On December 7, 1986, F. Kenneth Iverson, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Nucor
Corporation, awaited a delegation from SMS Schloemann Siemag, a leading West German supplier
of steelmaking equipment, at his company s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. Iverson had
to decide whether to commit Nucor to a new steel mill that would commercialize thinslab casting
technology developed by SMS. Preliminary estimates indicated that the mill would cost $280
million, and that start up expenses and working capital of $30 million each would push the total
cost to $340 million, or nearly as much as Nucor s net worth. Successful ... Show more content on

A significant percentage of the steel sold to service centers found its way to end users in the
automotive sector and the appliance and equipment industries. Taken together, these three customer
groups accounted for half of total domestic shipments and three quarters of the shipments of flat
sheet. Service centers emphasized the most basic form of flat sheet, hot rolled sheet, whereas the
others direct purchases were weighted toward cold rolled and coated sheet that had been subjected
to further primary processing. Construction accounted for another one tenth of shipments of all
steel mill products and of flat sheet. Price, quality and dependability were the three most important
buyer purchasing criteria. Uncompetitive pricing was probably the major reason U.S. steelmakers
had lost ground to imports. Integrated steelmakers had been criticized, in particular, for charging
excessive premia in periods of tight supply, pressing buyers to purchase higher grade steel than they
needed, requiring minimum orders that were too large for many buyers and arbitrarily favoring
some buyers over others. Quality had several dimensions: internal quality, as determined by
metallurgical structure and physical strength, which mattered most when durability was important;
surface quality, which was a major concern in uses

Kodak Options Memo
In my March 6 memo, I discussed the need for Kodak to revamp its core strategy and regain
popularity. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly
130 years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into
the digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was
operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak.
This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a
solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to
consider are:
* Hire a new CEO new bolder leadership * Enter into a new aggressive ... Show more content on

These profits can be achieved through tracking consumer needs and maintaining efficiency within
the value chain.
The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a
high level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall
performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be
evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year
sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is
dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may
be beneficial in its current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is
the cost of ink and supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing
to consumers. With the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business:
marketing, pricing, distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the
world s foremost imaging innovator. Its reputation in the film printing business is dominant.

What Was The Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was a United States policy of opposing European colonialism in the Americas
beginning in 1823. It stated that further efforts by European nations to take control of any
independent state in North or South America would be viewed as the manifestation of an
unfriendly disposition toward the United States. The Doctrine was issued on December 2, 1823 at
a time when nearly all Latin American colonies of Spain and Portugal had achieved or were at the
point of gaining independence from the Portuguese and Spanish Empires. By the end of the 19th
century, Monroe s declaration was seen as a defining moment in the foreign policy of the United
States and one of its longest standing tenets. It would be invoked by many U.S. statesmen and
several U.S. presidents, including Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and
Ronald Reagan. Roosevelt gave much thought while in office to the consideration of the Monroe
Doctrine of 1823. He added the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine in 1904, asserting that

Christ, the Paradigm of Leadership
Discussions in what makes effective leaders are ones as long as history itself. It is a topic of
constant study and debate where everyone seems to have a view and where definitions of
leadership are as varied as their explanations. More recent day definitions and studies have
focused on leadership and change, vision building and empowering others. Thus, leaders are
people who are able to think and act creatively in non routine situations and who set out to
influence the actions, beliefs and feelings of others. In this sense being a leader is personal. It
flows from an individual s qualities and actions. However, it is also often linked to some other
role such as manager or expert. Here there can be a lot of confusion. Not all managers... Show more

In this regard the shepherd of the Lord s flock leads by modeling godliness and righteousness in
his own life and encourages others to follow his example.
Deuteronomy 8:3 states: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the
mouth of the Lord. We as sheep need nourishment to be strong and vibrant Christians. This
nourishment comes from one place and one place only The Holy Bible. The Bible, not the
psychology of the world s wisdom, is the only nourishment that can sustain a healthy Christian
lifestyle. Serving as our Good Shepherd, Christ will lead us to the most lush pastures and abundant
streams.
Many Christians throughout history have faced persecution, have had to deal with temptation
and have been wounded by spirits that mean to deter us from maximizing our spiritual potential.
A shepherd, knowing one of his sheep is ailing, shows compassion and love towards his sheep.
The Lord has promised us that he will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak . (Ezekiel
34:16) As Christians today, we suffer many injuries to our spirits and need compassionate leaders
who understand our pain and are willing to listen to our concerns. Becoming a servant leader
requires a great deal of motivation, feedback, and extended practice, as does any worthwhile
discipline. We are in need of leaders who will help bear our burden, and sympathize with our unique
circumstances.

The Importance Of Achievement
Achievement is something that some people silently compete for, to be better than everyone
else. But, other people strive for achievement like myself, they do not worry about others and try
to be best they can be, for themselves. There are multiple types of achievement, grades and
school only impact certain people, some people have different ideas of achievement and think
they do not need schooling to succeed and learn from just everyday life. There are over
achievers, and then there are people who just do what they need to, to pass a class. I feel that
grades do not impact everyone s achievements because some people do not worry about school
and focus more on life achievements. My entire life I have not worried about grades up until I
saw my brother struggling with long division around age 17, trying to get into the Army. My
brother usually had all D and F s for grades; our childhood was not the best. I do not blame him for
his lack of motivationand urge to do better because no one tried to motivate him, and simply gave
up. In 7th grade, I did not worry about grades because everything just came to me easily, this
stayed the same until 10th grade when we started actual work. I struggled with math and English
because when I had the chance to succeed greater things, I just did what I needed to pass. Now, I
have entirely turned around and am on the A or B honor roll every semester since 9th grade. I
have strived for better grades because that is how I feel achievement. I

The Theory Of Social Enterprise
When I first start on this module, I feel really odd about what exactly a social enterprise is. In our
daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what
makes those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they
are. When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the businessin a long term
if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little social
capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar
preparations and workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre s visit and learning
packs of various social concepts from different groups day by day.
What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by
Pearce (2003). The diagram is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The
diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on
deferent principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy.
The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to
maximize returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace,
meeting needs through the production of goods and the provision of services by companies. The
second system can be conventionally referred to as the public sector. It is

Paul Cezanne Research Paper
An artist can draw inspiration from any source, including other artist. Paul Cezanne is an artist
that inspired other artist by his emotions of the world. Susan Stamberg (2009) reports for NPR
that Pablo Picasso considered Cezanne the father of us all . Stamberg goes on to explain how
Cezanne infused his work with layers of shape and color. Before Cezanne s work The Large
Bathers, he created other works with the same impressionist type figures. Cezanne s work
Bathers and Fisherman with a Line (1872) displays the same nude forms with colors similar to
The Large Bathers (1906). Paulcezanne.org ( Paul Cezanne: 100 Famous Paintings Analysis,

Research Paper About A Trip To The Bahamas
Have you ever wanted to go to a place where celebrities and people can roam free, a place where

To begin, my dream vacation would be going to the Bahamas because of all the fascinating places

other than water slides the Bahamas occasionally holds 3 on 3 basketball tournaments where
everyone is welcome to play. There is always an opportunity to swim with sharks on the shark
walk, where you can get up close and personal with the sharks. If the shark walk scares you you
can go to the Dolphin Cay where for the low price of 400 dollars you can tame and ride a
dolphin of your choice. Night time can sometimes get crazy with all of the intense Karaoke
competitions. If you were wondering what you can do at the beach, snorkeling is a great option
since the colourful fish are not shy and are everywhere as far as the eye can see. With all these
breathtaking activities you will need to bring a spare oxygen tank.
The Bahamas is a truly beautiful place, with the welcoming culture, the wonder filled sights to see
and the extreme activities, all reasons why it is the destination of my dream vacation. Imagine this
when you wake up you are greeted by the extremely polite workers and head downstairs to eat
breakfast at a hotel straight out of a James Bond movie, then in the afternoon you visit a beach
and then go ride a couple of waterslides that make you question going back to your regular boring

Folliculogenesis Essay
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to inform on the topic of folliculogenesis, how it occurs, and its role in
reproduction.
Introduction
Folliculogenesis is the production of follicles in the ovaries of female reproductive system.
Every month females go through their ovarian cycle, in which the ovaries produce follicles that
help to carry out the egg cell necessary for reproduction. This egg cell is carried out to be
fertilized by a sperm cell received from males during sexual intercourse. If the egg cell is not
fertilized by the sperm cell, then the female ends up going through the menstrual cycle in which the
egg is expelled and the monthly bleeding begins and persists its monthly course. The topic of
folliculogenesis may be overlooked, but when researching about the topic it is seen how important
this cycle is in reproduction. This cycle lays out the platform for reproduction every month, without
this cycle the proper hormones would not be able to be produced in the system.
Stages of Folliculogenesis
The ovarian cycle in a normal female occurs every month that lasts for a total of 28 days. The
first stage of folliculogenesis is the primordial follicles, this is when the ovaries produce the first
follicles at day zero. Each follicle consists of an egg cell with granulosa cells around it. The job of
the granulosa cells is to nourish the egg cell and help it travel through the ovary until fertilization.
In the next stage of folliculogenesis the primordial follicles

Esthetic Considerations in complete denture
What would an edentulous patient wish for other than restoring back his teeth, smile and beauty?
Of course, when dealing with artificial teeth in complete dentures, many will be terrified of the idea
of their future artificial appearance and will think restoring old natural appearance is impossible,
but they have no idea that removable prosthodontics is the art branch of dentistry, and that it has in
its dictionary what we call Denture esthetics: the cosmetic effect produced by a dental prosthesis
which affects the desirable beauty, attractiveness, character, and dignity of the individual.
Denture esthetics combines and blends science and art, therefore it does not have any set rules, but
relies on the artistic view of the dentist, guided by his scientific knowledge.
Since the days of Hippocrates in the 5th century BC, till recently, many concepts were presented for
teeth selection and arrangement, each trying to add more natural aspect of an artificial dentition .
After combining and summarizing most of these concepts, we can list some of the main points a
dent art ist follows to make his patient s face and mouth appear as natural as before.

The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay
The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain
and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to
the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw
them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that
could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own
defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The
British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique
American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as
Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became
inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity
among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation.
These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The
Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government
and the United States. The purpose of the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13
colonies that had won their freedom from British rule and to bring unity of the new states. The
Articles of Confederation basically implied that every

Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler
A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of
unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the
faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie.
Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over
those around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them.
Devolving into a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a
marriagethat brings out her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using
character Judge Brack to show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb
under marital restrictions. Putting her into more and more precarious situations , until,
inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her
true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate demise, brought about between the collision
of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain control of others, you ll lose control of
yourself. Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of days that we see of her life, but a
frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an older man that is held with
high respects by all. He has power in the community and is able to pass through people s lives
without much talk, judging those who he saw fit to judge. His

Taking a Look at the Warsaw Pact
The Warsaw pact was the result of a treaty which the USSR and seven of its surrounding countries
signed. The treaty was signed by the USSR, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungary, East Germany,
Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria, in Warsaw, Poland in 1955. This was created 6 years after the
Western nations created NATO in 1949. This treaty was a treaty of friendship, cooperation, and
mutual assistance ( APPENDIX C: THE WARSAW PACT
Soviet Union). The USSR stated that the
reason for the creation of this alliance was the addition of Western Germany to the NATO (North
Atlantic Treaty Organization). They weren t very fond of this because they felt threatened. The
Russians created this pact for one main reason; to keep its East European allies under its political
and military control ( APPENDIX C: THE WARSAW PACT Soviet Union ). They didn t want the
rest of the surrounding satellite countries to end up joining NATO like Western Germany did,
because that would put them in a very dangerous situation. Many people say that Khrushchev s
ambition towards the power of the Communist party may explain the formation of the Warsaw pact
he wanted global domination for Communism. ( The Cold WarMuseum ). The Warsaw Pact was a
very big part of the cold war because it finally gave a depth to the Cold War . It seemed very one
sided. This creation of another side was good for the communist states.
The Warsaw Pact was based on the objective of having a centralized defense between all of the

Pulp Fiction s Bathroom Fixation

Pulp Fiction s Bathroom Fixation Although most would relate bathrooms to places of grime and
filth, the director of Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino, portrays them as sacred symbols that relate to
moral dilemmas held within both his movie s characters and its audience. Featuring bathrooms in
films has only recently become acceptable, with the first showing occurring in 1960 within the film
Psycho. Critics argued that toilets are the last things audiences would like to see at the movie
theatre, but this controversy inspired even more features of latrines in later cinematography. For
instance, within one of Quentin Tarantinos most popular and critically acclaimed films, Pulp
Fiction, he not only includes the usage of the bathroom, but features the specific kind of room
multiple times throughout the film. However, the frequent portrayal of these small, dirty rooms
was no accident and instead served as a symbolic place of recollection of one s morals and ethics.
Throughout the movie, characters are seen within bathrooms on multiple occasions. More
importantly to note, however, is what the characters do while they are within them. And no, I am
not referring to that activity, so get your mind out of the gutter. Every time a character finds himself
within a bathroom, he is always questioning his actions or what he should do next. A moral
dilemma is always occurring within the character s mind within a restroom.

Presentation Of A Multi Billion Dollar Industry
Presentation publicizing is a multi billion dollar industry that has generally utilized a valuing plan
taking into account the quantity of impressions conveyed. The quantity of impressions of a
promotion is basically the quantity of downloads of that notice. One impression, nonetheless, does
not separate between a notice that is in perspective for five seconds or five minutes. Since
promoters look for brand acknowledgment and review, we ask whether a period based bookkeeping
of publicizing can better adjust to publicists objectives. This work plans to model the fundamental
relationship between promotion presentation timeand the likelihood that a viewer will recall an ad.
We explore this inquiry by means of two behavioral investigations, directed utilizing Amazon
Mechanical Turk, in which individuals saw Web pages joined by promotions. The measure of time
the advertisements were in perspective was either decided endogenously (as an element of perusing
velocity) or exogenously (as a component of a clock and irregular task). Our outcomes propose that
for presentation times of up to one moment, there is a solid, causal impact of introduction time on
promotion acknowledgment and review, with the peripheral impacts decreasing at spans past this
level. Straightforward models portraying memory reaction as a component of the logarithm of
introduction time give a solid match. Also, we find that notices that are shown when the Web page
burdens achieve more noteworthy negligible

Harper Lee, The Sentry By Wilfred Owen, And Good Guys Dead...
Countless authors, all throughout time, can be seen to write about their passions, their
experiences or their opinions on a certain topic. The question has been asked: do any of these
authors early life experiences or the time setting when they grew up in have any impact on why
the writer developed the work? A range of authors and texts are being covered in this report and
the content will vary from World War One experiences to more recent times of racial segregation
in America. This report has been formed to answer questions and form relationships between
authors and the reason(s) or any influence(s) as to why the following authors have developed their
work: Harper Lee, Wilfred Owens, Ernest Hemingway. I decided to investigate the following texts:
To Kill a Mockingbirdby Harper Lee, The Sentry by Wilfred Owen, To Good Guys Dead by Ernest
Hemingway. If the aim is to find out whether early life experiences of these authors or the time
setting when they grew up in promoted or influenced the development of their work, three questions
must be asked for an accurate conclusion to be drawn: How heavily did the Harper Lee s early life
experiences influence her writing? Where there any government influences that impacted on the
authors writing? Why exactly did the author write the text?
Question one How heavily did the Harper Lee s early life experiences influence her writing?

Literary Devices In Catcher In The Rye
The world of adults is full of phonies and the only way to combat it is to be as innocent as a
child. Today, people have become so self interested that they fail to listen to everyone even
themselves. These are the points J.D. Salinger brings up in his novel The Catcher in the Rye.
Throughout the novel, J.D. Salinger s uses of voice, conflict, aposiopesis, irony, and metaphor
emphasize these points. The Catcher in the Rye is a story of a battle to preserve innocence.
The Catcher in the Rye follows the adventures of a teenage boy named Holden Caulfield. Holden
has changed schools several times over the past years because he either failed all his classes or
harbored strong feelings of hate and disgust towards his school. Holden, during the book s events,
is 16 years old, quite tall, and already has some gray hair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Holden coins this phrase for himself based on a poem that he heard during events that that
occurred before the events of the book. This poem is called Coming thro the Rye by Robert
Burns. The irony between the poem and the novel begins with the two different interpretations of
a catcher in the rye . Holden says that he sees himself catch[ing] everybody [children] if they
start to go over the cliff. . . I d just be the catcher in the rye and all (Salinger ). Holden believes
that being a catcher in the rye involves protecting and preserving the innocence of the children
around him. However, the poem Holden gets this interpretation from is interpreted by most to not
be about innocence, but rather casual sex. Holden now seems to understand how disgusting and
phony sexuality and adulthood is. Holden wants to save children from the horrors that come with
growing up, but the irony lies in Holden basing his own beliefs on a poem about sex. Salinger s
deviation from the traditional meaning of Robert Burns poem gives interesting irony that both
shows how mature and naГЇve Holden really

The Trope Wild And Desolate Landscapes In The Castle...
Throughout the book Stoker manages to use the trope wild and desolate landscapes as a base and
setting for what occurs throughout the book. Certain settings can be distinguished either by
character or the actions that are taking place. With wild and desolate landscapes it shows and sets
up a gloomy and dark setting which can leave the reader on edge or to think that nothing good can
occur there. The novelstarts off with Jonathan traveling to the Count s castle which is in a remote
place in Transylvania. In the words of Stoker in the midst of the Carpathian mountains; one of the
wildest and least known portions of Europe. I was not able to light on any map or work giving the
exact locality of the Castle Dracula(P. 2). The use of this trope sets up the location of where the
Count lives and what kind of person he might be through seeing as to where he is located, a
place that cannot be found on any map. The author further concretes the remote place in which
the castle is located when Jonathan arrives and catches his first glimpse of the place. Stoker
writes, In the gloom of the courtyard looked of considerable size, and as several dark ways led
from it under great round arches, it perhaps seemed bigger than it really is. I have not yet been
able to see it by daylight (p.14). Gothic novels always execute the need to have a place, one distinct
location that places a character or villain in, to have the characters experience something or set up
what will occur throughout

Why Was Hammurabi Unjust
Hammurabi s code was unjust for a variety of reasons. First of all, many of the punishments did
not fit the crime. For example, in law 21, if a person had broken into someone s house and was
caught, the punishment was to be hung. If this were to happen today, the consequence would be
looked upon as wrong because the person should be put on trial instead. Another reason
Hammurabi s code of laws is unjust is because people were often punished for mistakes. In law
218, Hammurabi says If a surgeon has operated with a bronze lancet on a free man for a serious
injury, and has caused his death,... his hands shall be cut off. This shows that people were punished
for mistakes because even if it was not a preventable death, the surgeon will still be

Life And Death By Woody Allen
Have you ever thought about what you will see after death? In Christianity, people believe in
going to heaven or hell after death. In Buddhism, people believe in transmigration, which allows
our souls go to another body without our memory. I do not believe in any religion, so I have no
idea where we will go after death. However, no matter where will we go, I bet most people will
regret something in their lives before they die. For example, we did not treasure the time with
friends and family, try to finish some unachievable task or pursue our dream. In Death Knocks ,
Woody Allendistributes a different perspective on life and death, which makes me think deeply
about life and death. The main character, Nat, is living as an old dress manufacturer in Brooklyn.
One day, Death comes to find him and tell him Nat is dead. Nat does not believe that until he
sees Death is almost break his neck climbing in the bedroom window. Unlike Death in a movie
or religion, Allen gives us a new perspective on Death s outlook. Death might look exactly same
as us and we can talk, argue or negotiate with the Death, such as Nat requested Nat: Give me
some time. Another day (Allen, P.1282). I have never thought about what Death looks like since
I am a teenager and Death seems so far away from us. But when I am getting older, I will start to
realize that Death is popping up in my life. Some strangers in my life disappear. Although I do not
want to admit it, everyone will dead and that is the cycle

Relational Theory
Relational theory is built on the assumption that there is an inherent tendency for people to
maintain relationships with others (Hutchinson, 2015). Relational theory is the integration of
several psychodynamic theories, such as object relations theory, self psychology, and interpersonal
psychoanalysis, into a larger perspective which acknowledges that the mind exist in relation to
others (Segal, 2013). This theory s origins in psychodynamic theory can be seen in key concepts
such as the assertion that human behavior is significantly impacted by past relational patterns
(Segal, 2013). Although past relationships are viewed as influential, relational theorist maintain

Today s Kids Are, Like Killing The English Language
Over time, language changes over time. It can get shorter and the use of slang will get more
popular. Slang is used to make a sentence more understandable or to shorten a phrase. There are
many advantages to using nonstandard language when speaking and writing, but there are also
many disadvantages. Using nonstandard languagecan also change on how effective your
communicationwith someone can be. One of the advantages are that you can communicate with
someone more easily. But the bad part is other people who are fluent in the language will think you
aren t very smart.
The main advantage in using nonstandard language is that there is an ease of communication
between people. That be common for I, also, but be more strong, you. Much work and someday ...

Slang can sometimes come off a bit rudely. With the words duh, yeah, and right, they don t sound
very happy. Here s a quote from Kirk Johnson s article, Today s Kids Are, Like, Killing the English
Language :
Parent: Good morning, son, it s a beautiful day.
Eleven year old boy: Duh p.168
Now Johnson isn t saying that it is rude, but to most other people that can be insulting. If you
don t really know what slang means and you hear someone say something about you, you could
take that the wrong way. When communicating, the effectiveness of using nonstandard language
or slang can differ depending on who you talk to. If you are speaking to a friend, then it is fine if
you use shortcuts and slang. But if you are speaking to someone who s older than you, like a
parent, then it would be better off that you talk to them with standard language. One time my
older brother said yolo and my mom asked what that meant. After he explained it to her she said it
didn t make sense and it was kind of stupid. That s why it would be better off to not use slang or
shortcuts around older

How Does Disney Present Beauty In The Little Mermaid
Not only do you see the meaning of beauty that Disney presents in his protagonists, but his
antagonists too. Disney presents beauty trumps everything else is in The Little Mermaid. Ursula,
the antagonist of the story, is depicted as fat, ugly, and mean. This leaves you with the thought
that it is okay to judge a book by its cover. Without knowing the inside truth to Ursula, she is
assumed to be the mean one who takes something very valuable away from Ariel. In Snow White,
the old, unattractive woman tempts her to eat an apple that would kill her. In Cinderella, the three
step sisters and the step mom all have attitudes as mean as their looks. There s no proof that
Disney pushes girls to be overly concerned with looks, but it is definitely an underlying messages
in every one of the princess films.
The way the female body is presented in Disney produced films represents current socio cultural
assumptions of what the female body should look like (Johnson). These princesses reflect social
standards of beauty. To be beautiful you must be young, thin, attractive, and elegant.... Show more

Yellow became more popular. Kira Cochrane says The idea was to let kids develop more
naturally . With the colors blue and pink, you were immediately stereotyped at birth. Using yellow
gave you more freedom to decide your own fate. Today toys still aim to appeal to their genderroles.
For example, in a toy store the girl and boy aisles are separated. Disney s princess franchise takes a
massive role in the girl aisle at the local stores. When you walk down the girl aisle you see a sea of
pink with princesses and Barbies. Down the boys aisle you see super heroes and toy cars along
with a sea of blue. This helps encourage the path that a girl and a boy would choose instead of

Descriptive Essay About Field Day
FIELD DAY
Everything started to look dim, then I was out. I was at school and I was thrilled for the day to
start. The reason why was because today was field day. So I got to my homeroom and my teacher
Mrs. Martin (my second grade teacher) started explaining what was going to happen today. I
couldn t make out everything from the fact that I was thinking about what was going to happen
today. We started heading outside carrying all the materials we will need for the day.
So if you were not sure what field day is I ll give you a summary of what it s about, so field day is a
day when you hang outside playing games with competition against other classes.
So anyways, my class got to the fields along with the other classes and we started the games. When
the first second of the first game started, I felt nervous. I was very competitive about things and I
wanted to win. I watched as the games went by and I had to because I was the captain and I had to
keep track of the score. We were losing badly and making me think of all of the scores made me
woozy.
When it was finally my game to play I started to feel light headed, but I headed over to my station
anyway. My teammates were Gabe, Laney and some other people. Gabe was behind me and
Laney was in front. The game I was in was the sled pull. I felt like I wanted to drop to the ground.
Finally it was my turn then Gabe tapped my shoulder. You have a tick behind your ear, Gabe yelped.
I didn t hear him and whispered, What.

America s Most Important Pastime
America s Most Important Pastime
Today men and women live equal lives. They have the same opportunities when it comes to jobs,
voting, education, and practically any other entitlement that comes to mind. According to the
Constitution, equality for women came about in 1920. That was the year women received the
right to vote, and in their eyes received the right to be seen as an equal instead of a lesser person.
However, to the dismay of many women, that idea was not entirely true. Women were still viewed
differently than men by the public. This difference in perception can be seen by focusing on the job
opportunities for a woman through the 1920s and up until World War II. Before World War II
women were not supposed to work in the factories, instead they were supposed to work at home.
During World War II however, many workingmen were drafted into the army, thus creating the
necessity for women to step in and work in the factories and other higher class jobs. Thrusting
women into the working class emphatically changed the ideology that men and women were not
equal, however, I argue that the greatest change of mind was not created by the women working in
the factories, but by the women who were elected to substitute in to keep the game of baseball
afloat. The female athletes who played baseball during World War II were brought in as a last
resort to save baseball, forced to fulfill stereotypes, and taught how to act, but were still persevered
through all of those strikes

Even if God did give us the right of moving westward, is this what he meant by it? Possibly killing

  • 2. Adam Smith s Economic Philosophy If I was to create the perfect society today, I would use Adam Smith s economic philosophy. Adam Smith is known today as a modern philosopher. In order for a society to prosper, Smith believed that their economy would have to function as a capitalist economy. The perfect, most efficient, society would include specifically Smith s capitalist ideas of the division of labor, the sufficient pay of workers, and would not include the use of slavery. These ideas will make the perfect society prosper. The most important component of having the perfect, most efficient society, would be the division of labor. The division of labor consists of one person doing one small task, another person doing another small task, and other workers continuing the same process until the final product is complete. An example of this would be the use of an assembly line while making pins, as Smith mentions in his book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith explains that the larger pin manufacture he saw with many workers, was more efficient than the small manufacture of only ten employed workers who could make upwards of forty eight thousand pins in a day (Smith, 4). Smith then goes on to explain that, But if they had all wrought separately and independently...in consequence of a proper division and combination of their different operations (Smith, 4 5). Smith is saying that the workers could have made more than forty eight thousand pins in a day if they divided there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Loss of Identity in Invisible Man Essay Loss of Identity in Invisible Man No matter how hard the Invisible Man tries, he can never break from the mold of black society. This mold is crafted and held together by white society during the novel. The stereotypes and expectations of a racist society compel blacks to behave only in certain ways, never allowing them to act according to their own will. Even the actions of black activists seeking equality are manipulated as if they are marionettes on strings. Throughout the novel the Invisible Man encounters this phenomenon and although he strives to achieve his own identity in society, his determination is that it is impossible. In the beginning of the novel, the Invisible Man is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The marionette metaphor is therefore exemplified in a physical sense. However the Invisible Man observes others in the book that manifest this metaphor in a psychological sense. The concept of blindness is a reoccurring theme in the book that serves to control the blacks. Reverend Barbee s sermon is the first encounter involving symbolic blindness. The sermon reinforces the values of the school, which give the impression that blacks have the opportunity to gain true equality if they work hard enough. Barbee tells the story of the founder of the school. Barbee regards the Founder as a god of sorts, whose ideology should be trusted completely, like a religion. The sermon declares that the Founder s ideology and life represent a universal example that should be followed. Interestingly enough, Barbee is physically blind and therefore displays how this ideology is followed blindly. This serves to pigeon hole the efforts of the students at the college, keeping them in control, further emulating this marionette metaphor. Although at this point in the book the Invisible Man does not yet realize it, this is his first encounter with this metaphor in a psychological sense. Later on in the novel, the Invisible Man joins the Brotherhood, and the theme of

  • 5. The Pandinus Imperator a.k.a. Emperor Scorpion The Pandinus imperator, also known as the Emperor Scorpion or the Imperial Scorpion, is native to the hot, humid forests and savannas of Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the Congo Region. The Emperor Scorpion is the largest, but not the longest of all the scorpions8. They are also not as vicious as they look, they would rather flee than fight. However, if they are cornered they will turn aggressive and go to defensive position. Their venom is categorized as mild and is only as harmful as a bee sting, unless you are allergic. Their large pedipalps (pinchers) are strong enough to draw blood from a human. In this paper the topic that will be discussed is how human action can improve the terrestrial environment that is home to the Emperor Scorpion. Humans need to stop keeping them as pets, slow down deforestation, and plant more tress. The Emperor Scorpion belongs to the phylum Arthropoda, the name Arthropoda means jointed feet. An arthropodis an organism that has a hard exoskeleton made out of a hard substance called chitin. Its body is segmented and each part of its body has its own pair of legs, which are jointed, and it is also an invertebrate10. An invertebrate is an organism that lacks a vertebral column which is also called a backbone11. Every phylum of invertebrates has its own special characteristics, for example cnidarians, of the phylum Cnidaria, have special stinging organs called nematocysts. While invertebrates like echinoderms, of the phylum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. God s Omnipotence Essay God s Omnipotence The theological problem of evil is a problem that many philosophers have tried to solve. The problem is stated as, if one believes that god is omnipotent and wholly good, why does evil still exist? In this writing I will discuss the solutions/propositions of John L. Mackie in his work, Evil and Omnipotence. I will do this in order to illustrate the concept of free will for understanding or resolving the problem, and to reveal how and why Mackie arrives at his conclusions. In the beginning of Mackie s work he writes a brief introduction to fully expose the problem of evil, and to set guidelines for determining whether or not the problem applies to one. Mackie states that in his work one must be prepared to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point in Mackies work he is reaching the end of the introduction and is going to proceed to his next section, Adequate Solutions. The Adequate Solutions section is used by Mackie to show how some individual s adopt solutions to the problem of evil that will conclude by proving inconsistent. In this section Mackie first exposes that there is a large number of adequate solutions to the problem of evil. He then provides examples of some of these solutions. One of the adequate solution examples that he states is that, some individuals use the term omnipotence while severely restricting its meaning. Mackie then provides another example of how some believe that evil is merely a lack of that which is good, and that evil which opposes good does not exist. Mackie uses these examples of Adequate Solutions to show that if one adopts any of these solutions, then one will not be able to full realize the problem of evil. Now that Mackie has shown that Adequate Solutions will not prove to be sufficient solutions for the problem of evil, he moves to the next section, Fallicious Solutions. This section is where the solutions to the problem of evil will prove applicable but fallacious through argument. Mackie explains that he will be trying to consider whether or not it is possible to arrive at an adequate solution by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. How Did You Call The Period Between 1860 And 1877 Nothing... As the Civil War ended, conflict, that was much less violent, arose. The matter of putting the country back together laid heavily upon the shoulders of the government. Questions of rights to power emanated. Discrimination grew steadily more powerful. This period of time was not as radical as events such as the Revolutionary War that began the country, but the many parallels to it brought it awfully close. Through questioning of the central and state governmentpower levels, heavy constitutional observation and interpretation, and morality based decision making, it is fair to call the period between 1860 and 1877 nothing short of revolutionary. The Revolutionary War was as its title states; revolutionary. The people of the colonies were disconsolate with the power that Great Britain was exhibiting over them. Similarly, the South was unhappy with the central governments right to declare the way they discriminated against the black peoples unlawful. In South Carolina s Declaration of Causes of Secession, they directly stated that the exercise of certain of their powers was restrained, which necessarily imperiled their continued existence as sovereign ... • 10. Summary Of The Tone Of Carrt Sandburg Grass The Sorrowful Tone of Carl Sandburg Grass In the poem, Grass, Robert Sandburg gives a personification to the grass, and gives us a strong message about war. Sandburg mentions several wars and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely damaged due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away. On the first line, Sandburg starts his poem by giving us a disturbing image of the aftermath of war. The line Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo tells us how there were many casualties during these two wars. The battle of Austerlitz left more than fifteen thousand casualties not to mention the Battle of Waterloo which left more than twenty five thousand casualties. Although these wars occurred more than two hundred years ago, it is something still remembered in history, and at the time when all the tragedies occurred we can infer that it left many people grieving for the loss of their loved ones. Wars have always been disastrous, tragic events that end physically and emotionally the lives of many people, including adults and children. Going back to the poem, the grass is the narrator of the poem and by reading the first line we can deduce that it, the grass, tells the remaining soldiers, or the people taking care of the dead bodies, to pile them up because having them spread out across the field would probably would take up a lot of space that could be needed for other soldiers or medics. • 11. The Artist Pablo Picasso The artist Pablo Picasso is quite possibly one of the most famous artists to ever live. While he was one of the greatest painters, he was also a man of many talents. He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and stage designer. Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, as well as the co founder of Cubism. His creativity, empathy, and mastery in the arts has led him to become such a revolutionary artist. He devoted his life to painting and artistic production for the simple fact of wanting to contribute to modern art in the 20th century. Picasso was born Pablo Diego JosГ© Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno MarГa de los Remedios Cipriano de la SantГsima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito RuГz y Picasso on October 25th, 1881 in MГЎlaga, Spain. Picasso s parents were Don JosГ© Ruiz Blasco and DoГ±a MarГa Picasso y LГіpez. Picasso s father was a painter and art teacher. Picasso was introduced to art by his father. Picasso showed a passion and displayed a prodigious talent for drawing at an early age. His father decided to formally train him, at the age of seven, in the art of oil painting and figure drawing. Picasso was a precocious boy whose budding talent grew to overshadow that of his father. By the time he was 13. The painting, Les Demoiselles d Avignon, was painted by Picasso in the year 1907 and is the most famous example of cubism painting, as it is considered the first cubist piece of artwork. With this piece Picasso marked an extensive break from the traditional characteristics of painting, he abandoned all aspects of traditional art with this piece. He veered far from the representation and form often seen in traditional art at the time. He depicted five naked women prostitutes in a brothel, but the women were far from realistic. Picasso had drawn them nothing like the traditional paintings of women. Their bodies were made up of flat, splintered planes rather than rounded volumes, their eyes were drawn lopsided, and their faces were off putting. With this painting Picasso did things that no other artist had contemplated at the time. This visual violent piece evokes and liberates eroticism. • 12. Comparing Gilgamesh And Amarna Letters In the Babylonian pantheon, Nabu, son of Marduk, invented bestowed the art of writing in cuneiform to man, although it s commonly accepted that it began in the late fourth millennium B.C.E. With it, people kept records of trades and inventories, wrote chronicles of their kings, epics depicting legendary characters like Gilgamesh, and sonnets to recite to worship their gods. While many could stake some claim to basic literacy, scribes were the only ones able to truly master the language afters year of practice, leading to information on the daily lives of Babylonians being omitted from our knowledge. However, kings had the luxury of personal scribes, and would utilize them to write letters to their foreign kings. When greeting Amenhotep at the start of his letter he refers to himself as KadaЕЎman Enlil, the king of KaraduniyaЕЎ, your brother , and throughout the letter repeatedly calls him his brother, demonstrating that there is some sort of mutual respect between the two. • 33. Christ, the Paradigm of Leadership Discussions in what makes effective leaders are ones as long as history itself. It is a topic of constant study and debate where everyone seems to have a view and where definitions of leadership are as varied as their explanations. More recent day definitions and studies have focused on leadership and change, vision building and empowering others. Thus, leaders are people who are able to think and act creatively in non routine situations and who set out to influence the actions, beliefs and feelings of others. In this sense being a leader is personal. It flows from an individual s qualities and actions. However, it is also often linked to some other role such as manager or expert. Here there can be a lot of confusion. Not all managers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This nourishment comes from one place and one place only The Holy Bible. The Bible, not the psychology of the world s wisdom, is the only nourishment that can sustain a healthy Christian lifestyle. Serving as our Good Shepherd, Christ will lead us to the most lush pastures and abundant streams. A shepherd, knowing one of his sheep is ailing, shows compassion and love towards his sheep. The Lord has promised us that he will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak . • 34. The Importance Of Achievement Achievement is something that some people silently compete for, to be better than everyone else. But, other people strive for achievement like myself, they do not worry about others and try to be best they can be, for themselves. There are multiple types of achievement, grades and school only impact certain people, some people have different ideas of achievement and think they do not need schooling to succeed and learn from just everyday life. There are over achievers, and then there are people who just do what they need to, to pass a class. I feel that grades do not impact everyone s achievements because some people do not worry about school and focus more on life achievements. My entire life I have not worried about grades up until I saw my brother struggling with long division around age 17, trying to get into the Army. My brother usually had all D and F s for grades; our childhood was not the best. I do not blame him for his lack of motivationand urge to do better because no one tried to motivate him, and simply gave up. In 7th grade, I did not worry about grades because everything just came to me easily, this stayed the same until 10th grade when we started actual work. I struggled with math and English because when I had the chance to succeed greater things, I just did what I needed to pass. Now, I have entirely turned around and am on the A or B honor roll every semester since 9th grade. I have strived for better grades because that is how I feel achievement. I ... In our daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what makes those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they are. When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the businessin a long term if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little social capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations and workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre s visit and learning packs of various social concepts from different groups day by day. What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce (2003). The diagram is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on deferent principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy. The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to maximize returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs through the production of goods and the provision of services by companies. • 40. Folliculogenesis Essay Abstract The purpose of this paper is to inform on the topic of folliculogenesis, how it occurs, and its role in reproduction. Introduction Folliculogenesis is the production of follicles in the ovaries of female reproductive system. Every month females go through their ovarian cycle, in which the ovaries produce follicles that help to carry out the egg cell necessary for reproduction. This egg cell is carried out to be fertilized by a sperm cell received from males during sexual intercourse. If the egg cell is not fertilized by the sperm cell, then the female ends up going through the menstrual cycle in which the egg is expelled and the monthly bleeding begins and persists its monthly course. The topic of folliculogenesis may be overlooked, but when researching about the topic it is seen how important this cycle is in reproduction. This cycle lays out the platform for reproduction every month, without this cycle the proper hormones would not be able to be produced in the system. Stages of Folliculogenesis The ovarian cycle in a normal female occurs every month that lasts for a total of 28 days. The first stage of folliculogenesis is the primordial follicles, this is when the ovaries produce the first follicles at day zero. Each follicle consists of an egg cell with granulosa cells around it. The job of the granulosa cells is to nourish the egg cell and help it travel through the ovary until fertilization. The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation. These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government and the United States. • 43. Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie. Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriagethat brings out her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain control of others, you ll lose control of yourself. Featuring bathrooms in films has only recently become acceptable, with the first showing occurring in 1960 within the film Psycho. Critics argued that toilets are the last things audiences would like to see at the movie theatre, but this controversy inspired even more features of latrines in later cinematography. For instance, within one of Quentin Tarantinos most popular and critically acclaimed films, Pulp Fiction, he not only includes the usage of the bathroom, but features the specific kind of room multiple times throughout the film. • 56. How Does Disney Present Beauty In The Little Mermaid Not only do you see the meaning of beauty that Disney presents in his protagonists, but his antagonists too. Disney presents beauty trumps everything else is in The Little Mermaid. Ursula, the antagonist of the story, is depicted as fat, ugly, and mean. This leaves you with the thought that it is okay to judge a book by its cover. Without knowing the inside truth to Ursula, she is assumed to be the mean one who takes something very valuable away from Ariel. In Snow White, the old, unattractive woman tempts her to eat an apple that would kill her. In Cinderella, the three step sisters and the step mom all have attitudes as mean as their looks. There s no proof that Disney pushes girls to be overly concerned with looks, but it is definitely an underlying messages in every one of the princess films. The way the female body is presented in Disney produced films represents current socio cultural assumptions of what the female body should look like (Johnson). These princesses reflect social standards of beauty. To be beautiful you must be young, thin, attractive, and elegant.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yellow became more popular. Kira Cochrane says The idea was to let kids develop more naturally . With the colors blue and pink, you were immediately stereotyped at birth. Using yellow gave you more freedom to decide your own fate. Today toys still aim to appeal to their genderroles. For example, in a toy store the girl and boy aisles are separated. Disney s princess franchise takes a massive role in the girl aisle at the local stores. When you walk down the girl aisle you see a sea of pink with princesses and Barbies. Down the boys aisle you see super heroes and toy cars along with a sea of blue. This helps encourage the path that a girl and a boy would choose instead of letting them choose their own fate and their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Descriptive Essay About Field Day FIELD DAY Everything started to look dim, then I was out. I was at school and I was thrilled for the day to start. The reason why was because today was field day. So I got to my homeroom and my teacher Mrs. Martin (my second grade teacher) started explaining what was going to happen today. I couldn t make out everything from the fact that I was thinking about what was going to happen today. We started heading outside carrying all the materials we will need for the day. So if you were not sure what field day is I ll give you a summary of what it s about, so field day is a day when you hang outside playing games with competition against other classes. So anyways, my class got to the fields along with the other classes and we started the games. When the first second of the first game started, I felt nervous. I was very competitive about things and I wanted to win. I watched as the games went by and I had to because I was the captain and I had to keep track of the score. We were losing badly and making me think of all of the scores made me woozy. When it was finally my game to play I started to feel light headed, but I headed over to my station anyway. My teammates were Gabe, Laney and some other people. Gabe was behind me and Laney was in front. The game I was in was the sled pull. I felt like I wanted to drop to the ground. Finally it was my turn then Gabe tapped my shoulder. You have a tick behind your ear, Gabe yelped. I didn t hear him and whispered, What. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. America s Most Important Pastime America s Most Important Pastime Today men and women live equal lives. They have the same opportunities when it comes to jobs, voting, education, and practically any other entitlement that comes to mind. According to the Constitution, equality for women came about in 1920. That was the year women received the right to vote, and in their eyes received the right to be seen as an equal instead of a lesser person. However, to the dismay of many women, that idea was not entirely true. Women were still viewed differently than men by the public. This difference in perception can be seen by focusing on the job opportunities for a woman through the 1920s and up until World War II. Before World War II women were not supposed to work in the factories, instead they were supposed to work at home. During World War II however, many workingmen were drafted into the army, thus creating the necessity for women to step in and work in the factories and other higher class jobs. Thrusting women into the working class emphatically changed the ideology that men and women were not equal, however, I argue that the greatest change of mind was not created by the women working in the factories, but by the women who were elected to substitute in to keep the game of baseball afloat. The female athletes who played baseball during World War II were brought in as a last resort to save baseball, forced to fulfill stereotypes, and taught how to act, but were still persevered through all of those strikes ... • 59. Manifest Destiny Is Dumb Manifest Destiny is Dumb One of the largest issues at the moment is Manifest Destiny, and if it actually applies to Texas, should we annex Texas to follow our God Given Right , or deny them to reduce risk of war? If we do decide to allow them to enter, Mexico would be very displeased with us, and because of that, we would be displeased with them, resulting is a high chance of war with Mexico. Even if God did give us the right of moving westward, is this what he meant by it? Possibly killing thousands of Mexicans and theoretically torturing thousands more of Indians by pushing them off the land of their ancestors through a trail of tears, and to an unknown environment with mysterious climates? We are becoming Britain much too rapidly, we were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
