Creative Writing In Avatar
Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing.
It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film
Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was
Cameron s comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won
him numerous Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced
a film where I would feel for the characters.
Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar
to when he took a long hiatus between The Terminatorand Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Good things come to those who wait. Unknown
Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug
continued all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I
still write fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages.
After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an
expert with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around,
relief flooded me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting. It was writing.
Something that I was familiar with, even if I had never written in that particular format before.
Okay, I might not have chosen the best story to adapt and it was my first time ever

Stainless Steel Hooks Research Paper
Stainless steel hoses serve a variety of functions in an industrial setting, and if you are starting a
business that will need these hoses, there is a good chance that you may not be that familiar with
what these hoses need to stay in good condition. Utilizing the following couple of tips will help
you to avoid some routine errors that can cause problems for your enterprise s steel hoses.
Conduct A LeakCheck
Regardless of whether your hoses are carrying liquid or gas, it is important to perform regular
leak checks to make sure the hoses integrity has not been compromised. A small leak can indicate
an area of general weakness in the hoses, which could place them at a risk of exploding or rupturing.
To perform a leak check, you will need

Socrates s View Of Love
In The Symposium, Love is described to be a goddess by the men who are praising her powers in
several eulogies. However, Socrates proves that their claims are incorrect evaluations during his
speech. Socrates chooses to analyze and discuss the truth of love through rhetoric rather than submit
to the illusionary art of poetry that the other men used. Although the context of Loveis set up in the
mythological sense, Socrates speech transcends the topic from merely describing the goddess
powers to separating her as an entity from the actions and emotions that go along with the
conception of loving : I think you saw Love as the object of love instead of the lover (Plato, 40,
204b). Socrates, takes the route of philosophy and aims to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The idea that Socrates is portraying is that one must move past the emotions attached to the
physical world and transcend into the love of the mind. The goal of going through these steps is to
find this essential idea of beauty so that, in this divine sense, one can see love everywhere. Love
therefore, is shown in the mythological realm, but also as an abstract conception of the emotions
and actions that Love spurs within humans for the desire to search out and attain beauty. Socrates
touches on the idea of what it means to love another person, and how to find absolute beauty in this
pursuit.
The Fire Next Time emphasizes love in the communal sense and how when facing extreme hatred,
love can bring the marginalized together. Baldwin s text is heavily concentrated on the prejudicial
attitudes towards the African Americans by the Americans during the early 1960 s. The racism
described in this text is stressed by the violent actions towards and the overall dehumanization of the
African Americans. However, the hatred towards their race encourages the group to love each
other more: if we had not loved each other none of us would have survived (Baldwin, 7). The
African Americans are driven to other sources of love when exiled from the acceptance of the
whites, and ultimately come together as a unit to oppose the race who is persistent on tearing away
their humanity. Instead

Why Is Cheer Important To Me
My Cheer Squad Is Important To Me. My cheer squad is important to me. Whenever I have a
problem they help fix it by finding a solution. They help me with all my situations. I know I can
trust them to help me and when they help me I learn something from them that will also help me
another time..
One reason why my cheer squad is important to me is they help stick up for me. This is important
to me because I have a good feeling inside of me knowing someone will help me when I need
it.When they saw I was being bullied they knew I couldn t handle it so they stuck up for me.They
told the bully that it is not nice to pick on people because it will make the person hurt inside.
When my cheer team helped me with this problem they taught me to not let anyone bother you
because they are just jealous. I also stuck up for myself by telling the bully Treat someone the way
you wanna be treated. Just then I realized that is the key to the world and how you should treat
someone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Judith Slaying Holofernes Analysis
In this essay, I will discuss the startling differences between two depictions of the story of Judith
and Holofernes. Judith with the Head of Holofernes , 1495, created by Andrea Mantegna, is a small
scale painting that was completed during the Renaissance. The second is a Baroque painting, Judith
Slaying Holofernes, c.1620 by Artemisia Gentileschiand is on a larger scale than the version
created by Mantegna. Both artworks take inspiration from the religious story that appears in the
Catholic editions of the Bible. The story is about a young widowed Jewish woman, by the name
of Judith, who murdered an enemy army general, Holofernes, to spare her people from death. I
will compare and contrast how the scene has been depicted in rather different ways by each of the
artists and the influencing factors that contributed to the overall outcome of both works. I will also
be discussing how form and naturalism are portrayed between the two paintings, use of colour,
symbolism and religion, as well as the Renaissance and Baroqueeras.
In each of the paintings, the figures appear somewhat different to each other, with those in Judith
Slaying Holofernes looking far more humanistic than that of Judith with the Head of Holofernes .
In Mantegna s painting, Judith and her servant, Abra, look statuesque in pose while Judith, as if in
pity for her victim, turns her eyes away from the head of Holofernes that she holds above the bag
her servant holds open Judith. In Renaissance art,

Effects of Multitasking Multitasking is becoming very significant on the workplace to complete the
task in less time. In fact, some people believe that multitasking saves time and can be done at all
together. On the other hand, some people think that it is a distracting activity which leads to a lack
of concentration. According to David Silverman, In Defense of Multitasking , multitasking is crucial
to survival in today s workplace (522). However, I do not agree because multitasking reduces
productivity, increases stress levels and it is, especially, problematic for students. David Silverman
believes that multitasking is very important for the survival. He thinks that ... Show more content on

4). It is very difficult to do two complex tasks at once (Paul 5). For instance, doing email and
listening to the phone. These tasks diverts the mind due to which people do not focus properly on
them and results in lower efficiency. Multitaskers omit much information and it takes time to
refocus on both of them. Therefore, Efficiency can drop by as much as 40% (Atchly par. 2). Peter
Bregman mentions that in the reality, the more you multitask, the worse you are at it (519). It
means that multitasking decrease the ability to think and focus after switch task. Multitasking not
only affects the quality of the work..., ... it can affect the brain s gray matter , which is associated
with memory, decision making and more (Vito par. 8). Hence, multiple tasks results in the poor
productivity.
Moving further, people who multitask or do two complicated task at once face many stress
problems. Multiple task creates a big issue to focus and difficult for brain to get the information
efficiently. Multitasking is mostly done by homemakers because they do at least two or three tasks
concurrently. Daily multitasking increase their stress levels as well as increases the chances of
forgetting things. Stress is directly related to health problems such as heart disease. a steady flow
of stress hormones can strain the body and threaten health (Woolston par. 9). According to M.

History, Tradition And Culture, Mexico
A country rich in history, tradition and culture, Mexico is made up of 31 states and one federal
district. It is the third largest country in Latin America and has one of the largest populations more
than 100 million making it the home of more Spanish speakers than any other nation in the world.
Despite the political and social changes that have occurred over the centuries, evidence of past
cultures and events are apparent everywhere in Mexico. Many of Mexico s rural areas are still
inhabited by indigenous people whose lifestyles are quite similar to those of their ancestors. In
addition, many pre Columbian ruins still exist throughout Mexico, including the ancient city of
TeotihuacГЎn and the Mayan pyramids at ChichГ©nItzГЎ and Tulum. Reminders of the colonial
past are evident in the architecture of towns like Taxco and QuerГ©tar.
HISTORY
EARLY HISTORY
The Olmecs, Mexico s first known society, settled on the Gulf Coast near what is now Veracruz.
Remembered for the giant head sculptures they carved from native stone, the Olmecs had two main
population centers: San Lorenzo, which flourished from about 1200 to 900 B.C., and La Venta in
Tabasco, which lasted until about 600 B.C.
By 300 B.C., villages based on agriculture and hunting had sprung up throughout the southern half
of Mexico. Monte AlbГЎn, home to the Zapotec people, had an estimated 10,000 inhabitants.
Between 100 B.C. and 700 A.D., TeotihuacГЎn, the largest pre Columbian city in the Americas,

errors. This may have been created due to lack of qualifications, training, or overstating of
qualification on Carl s resume. Due to this, certain tasks were not addressed in a timely manner.

The goal is to have new hires trained in time to start work in July. Carl is new at the job himself,
and this is his first recruitment effort. This, however, is no excuse for not being prepared for the
task at hand, especially knowing the importance for the company and making a good impression
on the new hires. The main concern is that there are many problems and not much time to
complete them. Carl will need to evaluate, prioritize, and find solutions to each issue quickly.
Carl has many obstacles to overcome, but the July deadline is still a reachable goal. Key
Problems Carl s performance, leading to his failure, began when he did not think ahead in his
process for new hires and the requirements of himself and the new employees for the company.
Before Carl started recruiting these individuals he did not have a plan in place for after he met
his goal of recruiting 15 new people for the company. His only focus and concern was getting the
new hires in the door, and the rest was an afterthought. Some of the things he should have thought
about were What happens next after the recruits are hired? Problem 1 He did not take in
consideration all of the elements involved with the hiring and training of the new hires; like making
sure all documents were up to date prior to hiring. A company should not hire new employees
without all required documents. If a

Jules Gabriel Verne s The Mysterious Island
The Mysterious Island
The novel, The Mysterious Island, was written by legendary French 19th Century author, Jules
Gabriel Verne (1828 1905). Verne is widely considered to be the Father of science fiction writings
/novels, often unintentionally predicting future technologies such as submarines, missiles, rocket
ships, etc. He is also known for his many works, for example, Journey to the Center of the Earth,
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in 80 Days and, the subject of this
book report, The Mysterious Island. I chose this book, not only because it interested me, but
because I had started to read it a few years ago but never got the chance to finish it and it was
collecting dust and so I thought I should use this opportunity to read it. Some interesting facts
about the novel include that I managed to find are that in the original French version of the book,
some of the main characters are given slightly different names: GГ©dГ©on Spillet,
Nabuchodonosor (Nab) and Harbert Brown as opposed to Gideon Spilett, Neb and Herbert Brown.
Furthermore, there some date/time discrepancies, for example, the story takes place after the
American Civil War (between 1861 and 1865) and Captain Nemo is seen to have died within this
time period, while in the book, Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, which takes place 1867
and 1868, Nemo is still alive. Other things to note is that there have been about 11 different film
and television adaptations made based on the

History of Social Work
The development of Social Work in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia has
developed and evolved, influencing people and professionals across the world. Social Work has
advanced through welfare policies and programs with significant historical changes occurring and a
shift in religious and political views allowing these changes to benefit members of society and
address social issues. Key events such as the Elizabethan Poor Law, the industrial revolution, the
first charity organised society (COS) and the settlement movement were established mainly in the
United Kingdom however similar models were then adapted in the United States and Australia.

By the end of 1860, it was becoming apparent that outdoor relief was draining community resources
as poverty increased throughout the United Kingdom and other forms of support were needing to
be created as people were becoming aware that it was not just a case of the poor seeking relief
because of their character, but more so of the conditions they were living in (Dulmus amp; Sowers,
2012).
The settlement movement became another key feature in establishing Social Workin a bid for
society to focus on the causes of poverty rather than the individual. This required the volunteer or
social worker to live in the houses with the residents, Neighbourhood based houses were
established in a bid to bring people together from different socio economic and cultural
backgrounds to share knowledge, skills and values (Chenoweth amp; McAuliffe, 2012, p. 35). In
1869, Octavia Hill focused establishing support housing in London for the poor and organising
groups and activities. Octavia strongly believed that we were to help the poor help themselves by
empowering people with rights to encourage responsibility (Smith, 2008). Settlement houses soon
established the first by Samuel and Henrietta Barnett in 1884 in London, named Toynbee Hall. The
United States were quick to follow in this new development as Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Star
established America s, Hull House in 1889. By 1890, settlements were known as an important

Human Sex Ratio At Birth
Introduction According to the statistical predictions and Mendelian law of segregation applied
to X and Y chromosomes, the numbers of boys and girls born are supposed to be equal, so the
sex ratio for humans is expected to be 50:50 (1). However, in the real world, the observed results
do not follow this pattern; the actual values can be as high as 170 boys born to 100 girls (2). The
major reason that supposedly causes such imbalance in human sexratio at birth is that more male
embryos tend to survive throughout pregnancy (3).
The reason why it is happening is not definitive. The big problem is that not a lot of a research
has been done in this area. Most of the works only confirm the idea of male prevalence at birth,
however, there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(4)The idea of statistical chance can be eliminated the imbalance in sex ratio at birth is observed
throughout the history, so there definitely should be some mechanism that induces production of
more male embryos than female. Such a trend has been observed not only in humans but among
mammals in general (5).
Another idea explaining male biased sex ratio imbalance at birth has to deal with female after
birth survival advantage (1). The sex ratio from birth to death is gradually turning the opposite
direction: decreasing in males and increasing in females ratios. By the age of 100 there are about
four women to every man (1). Even though female fetuses are assumed to be less likely to
survive during pregnancy, after birth males suffer more fatal disease, take more mortal risks, and
are exposed to more violences than girls. By the time these kids reach their reproduction age, the
sex ratio comes to about 1:1. Based on this trend, it could be evolutionary adaptive to produce
more males in order to fix the sex ratio by the time of the new reproduction wave in order to
regulate the size of population and to have equal parental expenditure (6). That means that this
pattern has been naturally selected for and passed and inherited through generations. However, this
idea does not explain the mechanism of this inheritance.
The key to solve this problem might be hidden in genetics. The crucial difference between human
males and

Research on the Salem Witch Trials Before the Trials Belief in the supernatural and specifically in
the devil s practice of giving certain humans (witches) the power to harm others in return for their
loyalty had emerged in Europe as early as the 14th century, and was widespread in colonial New
England. In addition, the harsh realities of life in the rural Puritan community of Salem Village
(present day Danvers, Massachusetts) at the time included the after effects of a British war with
France in the American colonies in 1689, a recent smallpox epidemic, fears of attacks from
neighboring Native American tribes and a longstanding rivalry with the more affluent community

The State Children s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was initiated in response to the plight
of uninsured children, who were estimated to number 10.1 million (nearly one quarter of all

poverty level. The poverty level is a key player in fixing the US health care system (Singh Shi,

Secondly, the United States has en employer based financing system. In most states, employers are
not mandated to offer health insurance to their employees; therefore, some employers, due to
economic constraints, do not offer it. Economic constraints are also a major problem that must be
dealt with. If we started by introducing a bill that mandates employers to offer health insurance, we
could decrease the number of insured. Although many working class Americans cannot afford to
get an insurance policy, the benefit is that employees get group rates through their employer. The
group rates are generally lower than what the rates would be if the employees were to purchase
health insurance on their own (Singh Shi, 2008, p. 8).

Only Atlas became singled out and received the harshest punishment by King Zeus: he was

Mongol Invasion Dbq
Kai Charland Mr. Fritz What did the Mongols do to become such a large empire? A few things
are to be considered when thinking about the expansion of the Mongol empire. Their unique war
tactics and diplomatic approaches are a few things that the Mongols used fastidiously. However,
after Khubilai Khan launched the first invasion of Japan, the Mongols realized that some of their
methods had to be changed if they wanted to conquer Japan. Many sources group the Mongol
invasions of Japan together, and leave no discernment between the two invasions in 1274 and 1281.
However, the first and second Mongol invasions of Japan differed in many ways. The motivations
that Khubilai Khan had to invade Japan were different from the first and second attempt.... Show

Their plan was to make a landing at Hakata bay after attacking the islands of Tsushima and Iki.
For the second invasion, Much larger forces were sent. A total of around 142,000 troops were
sent from two separate places. 900 ships with 17,000 sailors, 10,000 Korean troops, and 15,000
Mongol troops set sail from Korea, and a whopping 100,000 recently conquered Chinese troops
set sail from southern China on 3,500 vessels. The first invasions of Tsushima and Iki were quite
successful, slaughtering a large amount of the inhabitants. Also, when the Mongols reached
Hakata bay, the Japanese samurai did not know how to retaliate the coordinated attacks of the
Mongols. However, the second time around, the Japanese had prepared well for the Mongol
forces, knowing more of their tactics. Even though the Japanese were outnumbered, they had
erected walls, six feet tall, about the coastal line. This allowed the Japanese to fend off the
Mongol forces. This may have been because the Japanese realized that the Mongols tried not to
get into close combat, and having a wall which the enemy would have to climb and fight to get
over, the Mongols would be forced to pursue the Japanese coast with some hand to hand combat.
The Mongols had taken measures to compensate for their mistakes in the first invasion, such as

The Political And Legal Aspects Of International Marketing
The Political and Legal Aspects in Relation to Domestic and International Environment of Halal
Products Submitted by: Jessa Loreta Billano, 1338020 Submitted to: Dr. Syed M. Ahmed 10
August 2016 Executive Summary The advent of globalisation in the last two decades had an
immense impact to the political and legal environments which are essential aspects in
international marketing. As there is no existing single political and legal environment because of
its complexity on a variety of levels, the political and legal environment will be referred to as one
concept in this paper. The political and legal aspects will be discussed in relation to the domestic
and international environment. In order to have a grasp of the factors at play, this paper will use
the Islamic law s enforcement of halal regulations as an example. This paper will highlight the
issues in the domestic environment such as social and environmental concerns, intellectual property
rights, and export and import controls. It will also show how the absence of a unified halal standard
in the international level magnifies the importance to be aware of domestic certification bodies and
unstable domestic laws and regulations. Review International Marketing and the Role of

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Development Theory
The psychodynamic approach is predicated on a struggle between conscious and unconscious
forces. As with anything in life forces are always at battle affecting our psyche, development, and
mental health. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Development theory outlines how environmental forces
can either foster a healthy development or cause maladaptive behaviors and development.
Everyone has either seen or heard the awful stories of children being mistreated to the point it
hinders proper development, and his theory helps to explain how to properly ensure a child,
adolescent, or even adult has a healthy chance at life. The theory has eight stages that span from
infancy to death. The importance of which is Erikson may have been the first and... Show more

To preface, if a person doesn t successfully reconcile the conflicting sociocultural forces in the
stage they re in at the moment does not means there is no hope for the future development for
that person; it simply means not mastering that stage can cause future issues to arise from what
each stage represents. For example a child may have the best environment possible and go
through each early stage with success and then in early adulthood problems may arise that cause
them to then not master the stage there at. Does this mean that person is doomed? No, there is
always ample time and opportunity to access the psychosocial crisis at hand and either seek help
for problems presented or educate themselves as to the proper steps to assure that the next stage
they reconcile the forces at hand. Also, mastery of a stage is not dependent on whether a person
can move forward in life, but it may damper the timeline and cause any number of problems: from
mental health issues, inferiority complexes, guilt, or at worse not being able to face death with
open arms and understanding. Erikson was a Neo Freudian and was taught by Anna Freud,
Sigmund s daughter. One can see how Erikson s early stages of childhood reflect Freud s own
personality development. Also, the fact that there is a crisis

Critique Of Twelfth Night
Emma Rice revamps Shakespeare s comedy Twelfth Night into a dazzling musical production, full
of modern twists and references that encompass the original core of the play. In this eccentric
production, comedy and music take center stage, supported by technical factors such as set,
lighting, and sound, but brought to life by brilliant costuming, wondrous music, and the superb
acting and singing abilities of the cast. Rice takes several liberties with the original structure and
text of the play, manipulating roles and dialogue to fit the comedic understandings of a modern
audience. While this removes some of playwright s genius wit and style, it seemed necessary in
order to relay the overall humor and mood of the play that would otherwise be... Show more content

Other lighting aspects were crucial in providing context for a scene, such as the descent of the
chandelier denoting Olivia s home and the use of disco balls to indicate the production s 70s era
setting.
The essence of this production, alongside the comedy, is its musicality, and Rice arranged the
play into essentially a musical, backed by composer Ian Ross lovely soundtrack. The mishmash
of classic 70s songs, Scottish jigs, and original tracks based on Shakespeare s songs and words,
performed by a kilt wearing band in the galley, left little doubt in the audience s mind as to when
and where the production was placed. The music accentuated the mood and emotion of every
scene, from the hauntingly beautiful, but painful refrains during the shipwreck, to the exciting
disco music of the parties, and the intense rock when Sir Toby and Maria beat their frustrations
onto Sir Andrew and Malvolio. At one point, a marimba ish sound played as Orsino described
the feminine features of Cesario , and it s repeated when Viola, as Cesario, regales in full emotion
to Olivia how she would go about wooing the Lady. In both these instances, a character falls in love
with another, Viola with Orsino and Olivia with Cesario. The parallel in music underscored the
similarity of these scenes.
While the production commanded a mastery in background music, it was the musical numbers and
singing that drove the production forward, both in emotion and

Strobel s Eight Objections To Belief In God
What Strobel does in this book is to give eight objections to belief in God that those of us who
work with people in doubt (agnostic or atheist) hear, and he then responds to them. The objections
are:
Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot
Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true
Evolution explains life so God isn t needed
God isn t worthy of worship since He kills innocent children
It is offensive to claim Jesus is the only way to God
A loving God would never torture people in Hell
Church history is littered with oppression and violence
I still have doubts so I can t be a Christian

time, providing a number of explanations and reasons why those questions are so important in the

Fair trade can be defined as a social movement thats objective is to help producers in developing
countries make better trading conditions and elevate sustainability. Fair trade is contrasting to the
other trade practices in our world, its about making codes of fairness in the marketplace. The
practice of fair tradeseeks to reshape the way we buy and sell products to verify that all farmers

However the fair trade movement was majorly shaped in the years following WWII. The
Mennonite Central Committee and SERRV International were the first in 1946 to develop fair
trade supply chains in developing countries. The products were mostly sold by volunteers in
charity stores. North Americas first fair trade organization started in 1946 also, Ten Thousand
Villages. Later in 1988, the launch of the first fair trade label (Max Havelaar) was created under
the initiative of a Dutch development agency. The Max Havelaar label was further replicated in
several markets in Europe and North America. In 1989 the International Fair Trade Association
(IFAT) was the first umbrella organization to unite and coordinate fair trade business and
organizations. They became the first organization to commit to fair trade 100%. Later in 1997
the Fairtrade International (FLO) was established, this was the second major umbrella
organization for fair trade. However the FLO does not require fair trade on 100% of its members
or products. Later in 2004, Fairtrade international split into two independent organizations, FLO
which sets fair trade standards, and producer support, and FLO CERT, which inspects and
certifies producer organizations. Today fair trade has developed into something much more, the
global sales have soared over the past decade. This proves that fair trade is actually making a
difference in our world, a little bit at a time.

A Generation Lost In the Workplace
The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment
today, and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters
the workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the
shift of power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they
have never bypassed a generation. Today s workplace is overlooking an entire generation, that
generation is Generation X. Current power holders, Boomers, are bypassing Generation X and
handing the reins to Millennials. Failing to utilize Generation X is a mistake, and managers can
maximize employees my utilizing this overlooked sector of the workforce.
Generations
The oldest generation in the workforce is the Greatest Generation or also known as
Traditionalist (born prior to 1946) ( Mixing and Managing Four Generations of Employees FDU
). They came of age during the great depression, the start of the cold war to be seen and not heard
(MU Extension). Believing in a work ethic of loyalty, tenure, and quietly working hard gets
rewarded. While some are still employed full, and it seems will never retire, many have handed off
the reins to Baby Boomers.

Parody In The Kite Runner
The Scream is an iconic painting drawn in the late 19th century, even if someone is not interested
in art, they have seen it more than once; There have been countless parodies of it and references
to it in pop culture. Edvard Munch came up with the concept while having a walk with two of his
friends while the sun was setting. The sky had turned blood red. He paused in a state of shock and
anxiety, and his companions had left him. The painting captures this feeling perfectly. In The Kite
Runner blood is used in different situations; this usually shows the connection to the feeling of
guilt Amir feels. An example of this would be when Hassan sacrifices himself for Amir while

bathroom door opens, he turns to his left, and we only see his left profile (Fig 1.), a mirror
image to the first time he set eyes on Madeleine in the restaurant unsure, and this time, full of
anticipation. We are reminded of the green motif, by the neon light outside Judy s apartment. As
Scottie turns around to fully see the resurrected Madeleine, he slowly stands up and at this point
the music starts to pick up, leading us to the point at which he sees his beloved. The camera
tracks into a close up of Scottie s face, with the green light reflecting off his eye, he almost looks
like he has tears in his eyes (Fig 2.). Cut to Judy/ Madeleine stepping out of the toilet, it is Scottie
s POV of Madeleine bathed in ghostly green light. Similar to the scene in the cemetery where
Madeleine was shot through a fog filter, which gave her the green glow, Judy/ Madeleine now
had green light superimposed around her body, which gave her the appearance of a blurred,
ghostly figure (Fig 3.). This reflected Madeleine coming back from the dead, now a ghost, as
green is usually used to represent ghost or spirits in film. She then slips out of the blur and into
focus, Hitchcock used this to indicate Scottie s come back to reality, coming to his senses as he
spots the locket in the next scene, realizing that Judy has been tricking him all along (Truffaut,

U.s. Treasury Bond Market
2.U.S. Treasury Bond Market
Yields on U.S. treasury bonds especially on the bonds with a maturity up to one year decreased
significantly between 2007 and 2009 as shown in the graph below. The one month treasury bond
yield decreased from 4.79% in January 2009 to 0.04% in December 2009. In the beginning of
2007 bond yields were very high and therefore mortgages takers with adjustable interest rates had
high interest payments. All this led to a high number of default and strong decrease in house
prices. This general weaker economic situation led to a decrease in Bond yields. The decrease
became even faster at the end of 2007, when the more creditworthy borrowers were also unable
to repay their mortgages. As reaction to the bad economic situation in 2008 the FED has opened
its discount window and lowered the discount rate by 1% in order to make it cheaper and easier
for banks to access money. Both lead to a further decrease in the bond yields as people had no
more trust in the products sold by investment banks and therefore looked for save ways to invest
their money. One of this save options to invest money is lending money to the U.S. government
in forms of U.S. Bonds. So the change in yields basically happened because there was a high
demand for save ways to invest money and therefore a high demand for U.S. bonds. The high
demand for bonds resulted in high prices and thus low yields.

Wheel Alignment Essay
Rotating your tires is a standard part of your car s preventative maintenance and typically should
be done every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. This helps your tires last longer by allowing them to wear

recommend you have a wheel alignment performed at the same time. But is this really necessary?
To provide some clarity on the issue, the professionals at Dee s Auto Care Specialists in La Crosse

If they re out of alignment by even a small degree, your tires may not perform as well as they

What Happens During the Alignment?
All tire shops and most auto repair shops perform alignments. The process involves an alignment
machine, operating by a trained technician, which uses a computer to calculate precision
measurements. The technician makes adjustments to several suspension angles (caster, camber,
thrust, and toe) so they meet the vehicle manufacturer s specifications. The technician will also
check to make sure your steering wheel is centered. You should receive a printed report detailing
the wheel angles before and after the alignment, so you can see for yourself which adjustments
occurred.
When Is an Alignment Necessary?
If you ve noticed your call pulling to one side or the other while driving, excessive steering wheel
vibration, or uneven wear on your tires, it s probably time for an alignment. When getting new
tires, checking the alignment is recommended. In general, however, an alignment performed after
every tire rotation isn t necessary. Have your wheel alignment inspected at least once per year

bad SEO clients: scoundrels and fool oops, I suggest, fairly challenged and judgmentally
challenged. Ethically Challenged SEO Clients I haven t gotten so lots of inquiries asking for out
and out unethical services. A coworker shared this gem with me: Have you thought about simply
scanning a book from the library and using it for web content? Of course, evaluating from the
amount of remark sp@m and SEO motivated hacking on the internet, there is plenty of demand for
this things. Judgmentally Challenged SEO

Ruling Court Decision
Two federal courts, the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Appeals, reached
opposing conclusions regarding a decision classifying a Mr. John Menard s 1998 compensation
as purely salary or as combination salary and disguised dividend. For clarification, a disguised
dividend is compensation given to a CEO, controlling shareholder, or president of a closely held
corporation that is determined in excess of a reasonable salary for work completed.
Ruling Court Decision
The compensation received by Mr. Menard, the CEO and controlling shareholder of Menard, Inc.,
was not unreasonable for his position and therefore did not include a tax evasive disguised
dividend. This opinion agrees with the decision made by the United States Court of Appeals.
The argument presented by the Tax Court did not consider factors brought to attention by the
Court of Appeals. Most notably, the Tax Court did not consider all forms of compensation to the
CEO when determining a formula for comparability. This is problematic as the comparability
formula used to determine a reasonable compensation for Mr. Menard to receive and was the basis
of the Tax Court s argument against Mr. Menard.
Both courts made their decisions based on two main arguements:
Compensation Comparability Formula
Bonus versus dividend
Decision Overview
United States Tax Court Decision In 2004, the United States Tax Court released a memo regarding
their decision that the compensation of Mr. John Menard in

Elizabethan Era Beauty
Beauty in the Elizabethan Era and Much Ado About Nothing Throughout history, literature has
been a way for people to expand their viewpoint and appreciate the world around them through
different cultures and traditions presented in a story. C. S. Lewis explains that through literature;
We seek an enlargement of our being. We want to be more than ourselves (137). This explains that
through literature, people learn lessons and read because they want to learn from these lessons and
better themselves. Many influential writers throughout history have brought different ideas and
lessons that have helped shape the society we know today. One writer who has had a tremendous
impact on society is William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s works are still well read and can be
related to today even though the Elizabethan Erain which he lived in is different from the culture
of the modern world. However, the Elizabethan Era still has aspects of its society that can
resonate with that of the modern day. One of those aspects is the stereotypes that women were
faced with during the Elizabethan Era. The Elizabethan Era was a time of social reform for
women. Though women became more educated and seen in a different light than what they were
used to, the era in no way brought them to the equivalence of a women in today s society. Women
were still seen as inferior by men and men still believed they were the greatest creation in the world.

Dominican Music and Film Essay
Dominican Music and Film
The Caribbean island nation of the Dominican Republic is little known by most Americans, but
America is ever present in the Dominican consciousness. Until Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire
went head to head in the legendary homerun battle of 1998, few Americans were aware of any
American Dominican rivalry in western hemispheric culture. Nothing gave Dominicans more
pride than to see Sosa hold Major League Baseball s homerun record, albeit for less than 24 hours
before McGuire reclaimed U.S. dominance in America s favorite pastime. Only merengue, a
tropical music and dance form, exceeds baseball in its ability to raise Dominican nationalist
sentiment vis Г vis the United States. For years, Dominican musicians and ... Show more content

During the dictatorship, popular lyrics extolled the virtues of Trujillismo even as it was speciously
based on terror and rule by a mano dura (iron fist).
After Trujillo was killed in an assassination plot that many Dominicans deemed heroic (see next
page), merengue faced an uncertain future. Artists trained during the trujillato, including king of
merengue Johnny Ventura, summarily dropped the overt propaganda, but they emerged from the
Trujillo era with a heightened awareness of the power of their craft. Johnny Ventura would later
become an active political figure, and in 1998, win the mayoral election of Santo Domingo, the
capital and largest city of the Dominican Republic. In an interview in the summer of 2000, Johnny
Ventura asserts, I believe getting involved #8212;not just the artists #8212;in the search for
solutions to the great wrongs and problems that we [Dominicans] face should be everyone s
obligation. Of course the great majority of Dominican leaders are non artists, but Ventura s
statement highlights an assumption in Dominican culture that merengueros can make serious
contributions to Dominican society and politics.

The Story Of An Hour Essay
The story of an hour
Kate Chopin s The story of an hour perceives this seemingly normal middle class family with an
extensive amount of colorful irony. Louise Mallard is a housewife who tries to lead the most
standard life possible with her all powerful husband. The many years of marriage has brought the
feeling of emptiness and vacancy into the soul of Louise
Mallard. Through her tribulations of marriage, releasing herself and setting both her body and mind
free, and the deaths throughout the story irony encompasses and unifies this short story. The
tribulations of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard s marriage escalated through the feeling of love. Love seemed
to be no longer a never ending bond between the most important ... Show more content on

Although the news of someone s husband dying would come as a complete shock to most, Mrs.
Mallard looked upon this despairing moment as a time to finally set herself free, and let the feeling
of power run wild all over her body. She said it over and over under her breath: free, free, free!
The vacant stare and the look of terror that had followed went from her eyes....She saw beyond that
bitter moment
[that moment she would weep] a long procession of years to come that would belong to her
absolutely. ; (13) Louise
Mallard felt that feeling of power finally with in her grasp now that her husband was out of her life.
She felt her life coming back into perspective, like there was at last a real reason to live. Free!
Body and soul free! she kept whispering. ; (13) A women should feel like she is being set free once
her husband embraces her in his arms, but this ironic twist has Louise Mallard being set free
once she is just out of her husband s reach. Perhaps the biggest irony of all comes at the very end
of the story. Once Louise Mallard s marriage had finally ended, she had been set free and the
feeling of power was finally filling her body once again, yet she dies. Not from her heart disease or
the shock of her husband s death, but rather from the shock of her husband being alive. Someone
was opening the door with a latchkey. It was Brently

Social Reformers Support Prohibition
The eighteenth amendment established prohibition, which was the banning of the manufacturing
and sale of alcohol. Interestingly, prohibition caused many different and unintended consequences
for America. When the eighteenth amendment was established, many people supported prohibition
because of the social benefits. The Church supported prohibition because many Christians saw
drinking as a sin. Many business men supported prohibition, because this would reduce the amount
of absences at work and would increase production and efficiency. Furthermore, many social
reformers supported prohibition, since it would benefit the family unit. Since fathers would not be
drinking, this would allow more money to be spent on necessities, and would reduce

  • 2. Creative Writing In Avatar Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing. It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was Cameron s comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won him numerous Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced a film where I would feel for the characters. Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar to when he took a long hiatus between The Terminatorand Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Good things come to those who wait. Unknown Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug continued all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I still write fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages. After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an expert with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around, relief flooded me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting. It was writing. Something that I was familiar with, even if I had never written in that particular format before. • 4. Socrates s View Of Love In The Symposium, Love is described to be a goddess by the men who are praising her powers in several eulogies. However, Socrates proves that their claims are incorrect evaluations during his speech. Socrates chooses to analyze and discuss the truth of love through rhetoric rather than submit to the illusionary art of poetry that the other men used. Although the context of Loveis set up in the mythological sense, Socrates speech transcends the topic from merely describing the goddess powers to separating her as an entity from the actions and emotions that go along with the conception of loving : I think you saw Love as the object of love instead of the lover (Plato, 40, 204b). The idea that Socrates is portraying is that one must move past the emotions attached to the physical world and transcend into the love of the mind. The goal of going through these steps is to find this essential idea of beauty so that, in this divine sense, one can see love everywhere. Love therefore, is shown in the mythological realm, but also as an abstract conception of the emotions and actions that Love spurs within humans for the desire to search out and attain beauty. Socrates touches on the idea of what it means to love another person, and how to find absolute beauty in this pursuit. The Fire Next Time emphasizes love in the communal sense and how when facing extreme hatred, love can bring the marginalized together. Baldwin s text is heavily concentrated on the prejudicial attitudes towards the African Americans by the Americans during the early 1960 s. The racism described in this text is stressed by the violent actions towards and the overall dehumanization of the African Americans. However, the hatred towards their race encourages the group to love each other more: if we had not loved each other none of us would have survived (Baldwin, 7). The African Americans are driven to other sources of love when exiled from the acceptance of the whites, and ultimately come together as a unit to oppose the race who is persistent on tearing away their humanity. • 6. Judith Slaying Holofernes Analysis In this essay, I will discuss the startling differences between two depictions of the story of Judith and Holofernes. Judith with the Head of Holofernes , 1495, created by Andrea Mantegna, is a small scale painting that was completed during the Renaissance. The second is a Baroque painting, Judith Slaying Holofernes, c.1620 by Artemisia Gentileschiand is on a larger scale than the version created by Mantegna. Both artworks take inspiration from the religious story that appears in the Catholic editions of the Bible. The story is about a young widowed Jewish woman, by the name of Judith, who murdered an enemy army general, Holofernes, to spare her people from death. I will compare and contrast how the scene has been depicted in rather different ways by each of the artists and the influencing factors that contributed to the overall outcome of both works. I will also be discussing how form and naturalism are portrayed between the two paintings, use of colour, symbolism and religion, as well as the Renaissance and Baroqueeras. In each of the paintings, the figures appear somewhat different to each other, with those in Judith Slaying Holofernes looking far more humanistic than that of Judith with the Head of Holofernes . In Mantegna s painting, Judith and her servant, Abra, look statuesque in pose while Judith, as if in pity for her victim, turns her eyes away from the head of Holofernes that she holds above the bag her servant holds open Judith. • 14. Human Sex Ratio At Birth Introduction According to the statistical predictions and Mendelian law of segregation applied to X and Y chromosomes, the numbers of boys and girls born are supposed to be equal, so the sex ratio for humans is expected to be 50:50 (1). However, in the real world, the observed results do not follow this pattern; the actual values can be as high as 170 boys born to 100 girls (2). The major reason that supposedly causes such imbalance in human sexratio at birth is that more male embryos tend to survive throughout pregnancy (3). The reason why it is happening is not definitive. The big problem is that not a lot of a research has been done in this area. Most of the works only confirm the idea of male prevalence at birth, however, there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (4)The idea of statistical chance can be eliminated the imbalance in sex ratio at birth is observed throughout the history, so there definitely should be some mechanism that induces production of more male embryos than female. Such a trend has been observed not only in humans but among mammals in general (5). Another idea explaining male biased sex ratio imbalance at birth has to deal with female after birth survival advantage (1). The sex ratio from birth to death is gradually turning the opposite direction: decreasing in males and increasing in females ratios. By the age of 100 there are about four women to every man (1). Even though female fetuses are assumed to be less likely to survive during pregnancy, after birth males suffer more fatal disease, take more mortal risks, and are exposed to more violences than girls. By the time these kids reach their reproduction age, the sex ratio comes to about 1:1. Based on this trend, it could be evolutionary adaptive to produce more males in order to fix the sex ratio by the time of the new reproduction wave in order to regulate the size of population and to have equal parental expenditure (6). That means that this pattern has been naturally selected for and passed and inherited through generations. However, this idea does not explain the mechanism of this inheritance. The key to solve this problem might be hidden in genetics. The crucial difference between human males and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As with anything in life forces are always at battle affecting our psyche, development, and mental health. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Development theory outlines how environmental forces can either foster a healthy development or cause maladaptive behaviors and development. Everyone has either seen or heard the awful stories of children being mistreated to the point it hinders proper development, and his theory helps to explain how to properly ensure a child, adolescent, or even adult has a healthy chance at life. The theory has eight stages that span from infancy to death. The importance of which is Erikson may have been the first and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To preface, if a person doesn t successfully reconcile the conflicting sociocultural forces in the stage they re in at the moment does not means there is no hope for the future development for that person; it simply means not mastering that stage can cause future issues to arise from what each stage represents. For example a child may have the best environment possible and go through each early stage with success and then in early adulthood problems may arise that cause them to then not master the stage there at. Does this mean that person is doomed? No, there is always ample time and opportunity to access the psychosocial crisis at hand and either seek help for problems presented or educate themselves as to the proper steps to assure that the next stage they reconcile the forces at hand. Also, mastery of a stage is not dependent on whether a person can move forward in life, but it may damper the timeline and cause any number of problems: from mental health issues, inferiority complexes, guilt, or at worse not being able to face death with open arms and understanding. Erikson was a Neo Freudian and was taught by Anna Freud, Sigmund s daughter. One can see how Erikson s early stages of childhood reflect Freud s own personality development. In this eccentric production, comedy and music take center stage, supported by technical factors such as set, lighting, and sound, but brought to life by brilliant costuming, wondrous music, and the superb acting and singing abilities of the cast. The mishmash of classic 70s songs, Scottish jigs, and original tracks based on Shakespeare s songs and words, performed by a kilt wearing band in the galley, left little doubt in the audience s mind as to when and where the production was placed. Treasury Bond Market 2.U.S. Treasury Bond Market Yields on U.S. treasury bonds especially on the bonds with a maturity up to one year decreased significantly between 2007 and 2009 as shown in the graph below. The one month treasury bond yield decreased from 4.79% in January 2009 to 0.04% in December 2009. In the beginning of 2007 bond yields were very high and therefore mortgages takers with adjustable interest rates had high interest payments. All this led to a high number of default and strong decrease in house prices. This general weaker economic situation led to a decrease in Bond yields. The decrease became even faster at the end of 2007, when the more creditworthy borrowers were also unable to repay their mortgages. As reaction to the bad economic situation in 2008 the FED has opened its discount window and lowered the discount rate by 1% in order to make it cheaper and easier for banks to access money. Both lead to a further decrease in the bond yields as people had no more trust in the products sold by investment banks and therefore looked for save ways to invest their money. One of this save options to invest money is lending money to the U.S. government in forms of U.S. Bonds. So the change in yields basically happened because there was a high demand for save ways to invest money and therefore a high demand for U.S. bonds. The high demand for bonds resulted in high prices and thus low yields. 3.Bear Stearns The failure of Bear Stearns began in 2007 as two hedge funds managed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
