Composition II
Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow
First impressions of Piet Mondrian s Composition II with Red Blue and Yellow generally identify
the art as shapes with color. However, there is much meaning behind the abstract work of art.
Created in 1930 on a 46x46cm canvas, the oil painting portrays thick, black brushwork separating
different figures of rectangles. It was made on the foundation of Neo Plasticism, an artistic
movement at that time focusing on the most basic, abstract elements of painting. The artist s
intended effect, harmonious tension, is well achieved through the contrast between the colored
rectangles and black lines, and perspective.
An element of the art that helped convey the effect was the contrast between the colored rectangles
and black lines. The artwork portrayed different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Separating these rectangles is black lines, all of different thickness. Mondrian saw this contrasts
between the colored shapes and line as a metaphor for reality. It signifies both the balance and
harmony of dynamic forces in life. These dynamic forces in life work together to create peace,
just as the rectangles and lines work together to create peace in the art. The overall asymmetry
contributes to the other effect: tension. The black lines run off of the canvas, and seem to never
end. Nothing in the painting is alike, all different shapes and colors. Although the painting can
seem so beautiful and perfect at first, it may also bring the stress and lust to make to go and
align the shapes and lines to make it symmetrical. This is a metaphor for the utopia and dystopia
in life. Life can be so calming, yet comes with it, is the tension and anxiety. For example, in
Mondrian s life, he moved to the Netherlands in pursuit of expanding his art. This relatively
hopeful and jubilant decision was shut down when World War I began. It had seemed like World

The Hierarchy Of Needs ( Maslow Theory )
Hierarchy of Needs (Maslow Theory) Introduction Human motivation can refer to the fulfillment
or satisfaction of various needs. These needs encompass a broader range of human desires,
starting from the fundamental ones for survival to the complex emotional needs for comfort
that surrounds individual s psychological well being. In 1954, one of the social psychologist by
the name Abraham Maslow who was interested in a broad spectrum of analyzing and
understanding the human needs came up with a hierarchy of human needs theory portrayed in
the form of a pyramid (Maslow, 2013). Typically, a hierarchy is a presentation or an arrangement
that ranks concepts or people from the lowest level to the highest. According to Maslow, people
must meet the wants at the lower level of the hierarchy before they can have the motivation to
work for the next heights. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs As stated by Taormina Gao (2013), the
Maslow hierarchy of needs is based on two concepts: the deficiency/lack needs and the growth
desires. The primary and most fundamental four layers of the Maslow hierarchy concentrates on
physical requirements, safety and security, love, and self esteem. When individuals are unable to
meet these deficiency wants, there may not be a concrete suggestion or warning, but they will feel
tense, anxious, and uncomfortable. Maslow law theory suggests that the primary level of wants
must comfortably get addressed before the person focuses on the higher level needs, also known

Photography Annette Kuhn Photography Analysis
Photography grants the power to seize a moment, a moment so precious, so intimate, so important
that we as humans are allowed to cherish and hold tight to that moment; a chance to reminisce. That
precious moment, as Annette Kuhn says, show[s] not so much that we were once there, as how we
once were (Annette Kuhn 95). The deceased are brought back to life. A childhood is relived. A
relationship is repeatedly forged. Photographyimprisons time, holds it hostage chained to the walls
of our memories, giving the viewer the power to continually find the treasure inside, that one split

Somali Piracy
The truth behind the Somali piracy
On September 27th Captain Phillip premiered at the 2013 New York Film Festival. The movie is
based on the hijacking of the Maersk Alabama container ship in 2009 where Captain Richard

the edge of your seat, but is also Hollywood propaganda at its finest
In this 40 minute interview I was accompanied by Abdi Mohammed Said who recently visited
Somalia. Mohammed Said grew up in Mogadishu the capital of Somalia. He moved to The

Pride And Prejudice Gender Roles Essay
The discouragement of females to break society s gender roles can be seen through characters
appearances, thoughts and what they represent in the story. Many characters appearances play a
major role to discourage females. They enforce beauty ideals set predominantly by males. This
can be seen in the following quote in Pride and Prejudice, [...] he looked for a moment at
Elizabeth, till catching her eye, he withdrew his own and coldly said, She is tolerable; but not
handsome enough to tempt me; and I am in no humour at present to give consequence to young
ladies who are slighted by other men (Austen 7). The quote alone makes readers feel sympathetic
for Elizabeth. Darcy values women based on their beauty and the same goes for other men in the
novel. This targets women who are insecure about their looks, and enforces the idea that women
will only be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, in both novels the protagonists share their thoughts on issues they face with the
readers. Some opinions expressed by these characters put down women who can relate. For
example, in the novel Jane Eyre, the protagonist shares her thoughts and says, I sometimes
regretted that I was not handsomer; I sometimes wished to have rosy cheeks, a straight nose, and
small cherry mouth; I desired to be tall, stately, and finely developed in figure; I felt it a
misfortune that I was so little, so pale, and had features so irregular and so marked (BrontГ« 185).
Here, the main character lists the physical attributes that she dislikes. While Jane describes herself
she also describes other women who may share the same physical traits, and this discourages
women who look similar to the main character. The author describes in her opinion what a beautiful
woman looks like and if females do not possess these physical features they are not beautiful. Many
critics share their views on these authors opinions they express through their

Ancient Roman And Greek Architecture
Modern Architecture around the globe had been influenced by ancient Roman and Greek
architectural. Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations
in architecture having both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be
appreciated today, they appear to have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at
first sight seem similar but in reality they each diverged and had their own identity and served
for different purposes. Ancient Greek and Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out
religious or spiritual happenings, and for the adoration of their gods who were believed to
protect and sustain their own community. Compared to the Romans, the purpose of building the
Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a sacred precinct as a home for their
gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an inner chamber called naos or
cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods, but they honored them as
well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in charge of ensuring the
needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a representation of their
philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their temples functioned
as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues, however they
had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important,

Siblings In The Film, The Crow Indian Brothers
On June 27, 1978, two Crow Indian brothers, Bobby and Tyler were killed by a 44 car Conrail
freight train. The day before the accident, the two brothers had disappeared from home. Later on,
the film revealed that the two brothers had run away from home because they knew what their
stepfather was doing to their sister. The Crow Indian siblings were adopted into a white Baptist
family that also adopted their biological sisters seven years earlier. The crow Indian siblings were
taken from a troubled home in Montana. The filmmaker Chris Billings their Crow Indian brother is

The two brother Bobby and Tyler were aware of the sexual abuse that the father was doing to
Lana. The two brothers ran away from home to get help for the sister and I do not like what their

was something they will never get. Losing two brothers at the same was hard for them to deal
and how they died effect on them. The main question what was Bobby and Tyler doing laying on
the railroad tracks? In my opinion, I do not think Bobby and Tyler s death was not an accident
because the story did not make sense to me and did not make sense to siblings either. The
siblings knew their brother would not lay down on the track and if they were laying on the track
why didn t they get up. I believe the father did something to brothers because they were aware of
what he was doing to their sister. Lana discloses this information to her brother and her brother
want to protect her from him. Lana knew she could trust her brother and get help. I am glad Lana
told her brother s because they were the only ones who stood up for her. Even though the

The Greatest Known Prehistoric Individual
There is much information that is unknown to many about the world. It is reasonable that
discovery would fascinate many because of the ability to gain knowledge about the world.
Learning about ancestors can bring knowledge about how people in the past had lived and how it
can be used to compare today s society and culture. Written documents enhance the ability to
understand the past. These references are not available before the activity writing and recording
was done. This time period before writing and recording is called prehistory. In order to understand
this period, one would obtain knowledge from research done by evolutionary biologists
archaeologists. There was an evolutions for our ancestors called Homo sapiens. There was a
paleolithicera and a Neolithic era that is significant with the transition to agriculture. When
archaeologists had discovered a skeleton of a woman who died 3.2 million years ago, they had
found the world s best known prehistoric individual. This skeleton was put under the named Lucy.
The skeleton was the best known prehistoric individual because it is the most complete and
preserved skeleton of any humanancestor. Lucy s species had the ability to use dexterous hands to
use tools and carry objects, which may be Lucy and her species was able to survive better than
other species. Similar to history, human ancestors are significant because there is the desire to learn
more about the past. After the Earth was created, the first living

The State of Homelessness in the United States Essay
Homelessness became a huge problem in everywhere especially in the USA. Most people heard

Many causes become the answers to homeless people. The most easy understanding of

data system to record information about homelessness. These information could be analyzed to
help people know the cause of people become homeless, how long people become homeless, what
exactly homeless people need, and the effect of mainstream s support. Government already saw
some positive influence of these programs. The number of family homelessness decreased 43

Analysis Of Ray Bradbury s Dr. Neff
Kiersta Walley
American Modern Novel
Dr. Neff
April 27th, 2015
Final Paper
Is this book worth the read? Sometimes it is hard to remember that Ray Bradbury tackles the art of
short story in a very unusual way. His collections of short stories are often tied together by shared
sub themes or settings, although each story could stand on it s own. Such is the case here, though
the running theme to the Illustrated Man collection is mostly a concept. Apparently the stories are
told by a man s tattoos, but do not worry about that too much. The true theme holding this group of
stories together is inspections of human nature and mankind s place in the universe. Bradbury s
classic examinations of the gloomy and downhearted side of humanity are ... Show more content on

He is known as the Illustrated Man who is looking for a job. The main character went to be
tattooed across his entire body as a way to continue to work at a circus, showing off to people
who come to view the art he exhibited. His tattoos, he told him, where given to him by a witch
from our future that he wishes to find and kill. When the sun goes down, the tattoos come to life,
and play out little dramas upon the man flesh. The man decides to watch as the Illustrated Man
sleeps, and what he sees are the stories that are portrayed in this novel. Each of the stories
covered in this book comes from the drama performed out by the man s tattoos. The tattoos plays
out different eighteen stories, but with all of the stories being told, the man finds one last tattoo
forming: it showed the Illustrated Man strangling him to death. By and well built, the stories are
independent to each other, which means we can go from a strange future where one family s
house takes care of all their materials to a poor farmer who manages to avoid the end of the by
being in one of his own. Still, there are few themes that run throughout the book that are fascinating
to look at.
The stories in this collection are unusual but a few common themes arise. One of these themes is
the way we relate to technology. It is pretty obvious in the first tale of the book, The Veldt. In this
story, we meet a family who are completely reliant on on their house. It is a technological

The Three Factors Of The Triangular Theory Of Love
Triangular theory of love
The first topic is the triangular theory of love. There are 3 factors under the triangular theory of

After deep analysing of the couples answers, I conclude that their type of relationship is
Consummate love as all 3 Intimacy, Commitment and Passion is present. Of the seven varieties of

they want to have a stable job with enough savings for their marriage and future. This itself shows

Symbols In Beloved By Tony Morrison
To express ideas through words is a much more difficult task than would appear. Many novelists,
therefore, utilize symbols to portray themes that would be difficult to describe in words. Beloved,
by Tony Morrison, describes the story of a woman, Sethe, who has killed her own daughter. Since
the average reader does not share this experience with Sethe, Morrison uses different symbols to
depict themes that may be otherwise obscure to a reader unfamiliar with the story. In Beloved, Tony
Morrison uses symbols to represent the themes of identity, vulnerability, and encumbrance, which
are common to the characters of the novel.
In the novel, milk represents identity, and its theft the theft, or oppression, of identity. Throughout
the novel, the majority of Sethe s identity lies in motherhood; the plot is largely driven ... Show

Throughout the book, trees largely represent the emotional encumbrance of a character. An
obvious example of this is the Chokecherry tree which Sethe carries on her back. Sethe receives
the tree after being whipped, and is on the run from Sweet Home. She does not even know that
she had the tree until she meets Amy, who points out to her, Your back got a whole tree on it. In
bloom. (93) Sethe s Chokecherry tree represents the burdens of her time at Sweet Home, and that
her back still hurts and inconveniences her show that she still carries that emotional burden as
well. The second instance of this symbol appears when Sethe and Paul D fight for the last time, in
the passage, You got two feet, Sethe, not four, he said, and right then a forest sprang up between
them; trackless and quiet. (194) The forest that separates Sethe and Paul D is a product of their
personal emotional burdens, and represents the personal effects of such encumbrance. Trees
represent the weight that Sethe and Paul D each carry on their shoulders as a result of their time at

The Goonies is a movie I never really enjoyed. Although it wasn t my favorite movie, it was an

to success. Sometimes you don t have to accept the inevitable. My favorite character in the movie
were the two kids, Mikey and Brandon Walsh. They loved their home so much that they were able
to change the circumstances they were in. They could have given up and just sat there, doing
nothing. Also, they didn t have to give their parents the money to save the house. They could have

Midterm The Problem (1 Page) Most companies expect their employees not to just do the work

profession and people either do work in the office or out in the field providing services. However,
when you need to get something done, people do not seem to accomplish tasks at work because of
the lack of support or the distractions that occur. There are three main issues that occur in my job
surrounding the lack of efficient communication, guidance from managers, and scheduling
conflicts. Through analyzing these issues a specific job may be created to help solve these
problems affecting this work environment. I am in a behavioral therapist position for kids with
Autism and related disorders at a small firm in Anaheim, California. I mostly work in homes with

within communication is not the lack of resources because employees are provided with the

a great influence on making a better work environment they are essential to making a team
successful. Managers do not frequently communicate the updated tasks that need to be

Abstract
The removal of phenol from aqueous solution was evaluated by batch method using two ion
exchange resins, Duolite A 171 (DLE 171) (a strong anion exchange resin) and Duolite A 368
plus (DLE 368) (a weak anion exchange resin) and a nonfunctionalized Duolite S 861 (DLE 861)
resin. The maximum removal capacity was achieved at pH 11. The removal of phenol was found
to be in the following order DLE 171 DLE 368 DLE 861. The mechanism involved in the process
was found to be both adsorption and ion exchange. The resin was characterized using FTIR and
SEM with EDAX analysis. The equilibrium data were fitted to Freundlich isotherm. The kinetics of
the sorption was found to follow pseudo second order and intraparticle diffusion models. The values
of thermodynamic parameters indicate the nature of sorption is spontaneous and exothermic.

Grandma Viive Autobiography
Her story began in 1944, but has never been forgotten. By sharing her experience, she continues to
influence my life.
My grandma, born in Tallinn, Estonia, fled the Russian attack during WWII. Viive, age nine, Ilvi,
her four year old sister, and mother, Silvia, escaped on foot from the Russian occupation of their
country. Their family, broken apart, was forced to leave Karl behind, a devoted husband and father.
He was committed to protect Estonia, by fighting along side Hitler s German Army. My grandma
Viive, Aunt Ilvi, and their mother, known as Ema in Estonian, landed in Germany and were forced
to live in Displaced Persons Camps for seven years. Unsure of their future, they boarded a ship and
sailed to the United States of America. The three girls, along with other Estonians, had no choice
but to begin a new life far different than they had ever known. All three of the Baltic countries,
Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, lost their freedom and were annexed into the Eastern Block of the
Soviet Socialist Republic (U.S.S.R.). The people who remained suffered mass repression under
Stalin s Soviet rule. As a result, tens of thousands of Estonians experienced deportation or death.

Phoenix Jackson Stereotypes
Frequently, old people are described as withered, useless, and reliant on others. Phoenix Jackson
from Eudora Welty s A Worn Path is not a representation of this stereotype. Throughout the story,
Phoenix undergoes a trek to retrieve her grave and helplessly ill grandson some medicine, facing
adversities that would not be met by most people today, let alone elderly people. Some of the
actions Phoenix undertakes could be described as unethical, or very irrational; however, a closer
look would show that she was motivated by her compassion for her grandson, her physical and
mental strength, and her intense perseverance. Grandparents always show deep affection for their
grandchildren and Phoenix Jackson is definitely no exception. Throughout her journey, Phoenix is
fueled by her pure love for her sick grandson. People certainly test her affection... Show more

Strangers confront her with their condescending personalities, taking no note of the fact that she
is merely a helpless grandmother tending to her grandson. One such person is the attendant at
the clinic. The nurse at the clinic states that Phoenix is a charity case and later gives Phoenix a
nickel since it is Christmas time. Despite her poor lifestyle as indicated by her shoddy clothes,
Phoenix tells the nurse that she is going to go and buy her grandson a toy windmill. This response
exhibits how Phoenix ignores the rude manners that others show her, focusing more on caring for
her grandson. One stereotype that Phoenix cannot escape is memory loss, though her love for her
grandson is forever in her heart. Phoenix Jackson undertakes a tremendously long journey from
her home in the woods to the city of Natchez. But upon arriving at her destination, Phoenix forgets
completely about her reasons for coming such a long way and facing dangers. It is only when the
nurse questions Pheonix about her grandson s health does she remember her cause for coming to
the clinic. However, once she recalls her

Corruption In Martin Luther s Open Letter To The Christian...
In Martin Luther s, Open Letter to the Christian Nobility, he describes three points of justification,
which the Romanists/Catholics have previously used to defend themselves, to build a wall around
them so that no one has a reason to be able to reform the Catholic Church. As a result, these excuses
offered by the Romanists, in order to avoid a reformation, has been the cause of terrible corruption
throughout all Christendom. First, when pressed by the secular powers, the Romanists have issued
commands and have established that these secular powers have no jurisdiction over them.
However, on the other hand, the Romanists have also established that the spiritual is above the
secular power. Secondly, an attempt is made by the temporal powers

Hamlet And Polonius Essay
In Act II, Scene ii, Hamlet calls Polonius Jephthah (2.2.359). This is significant on multiple levels.
It references a character from the Bible, Jephthah. Jephthah vows if you shalt without fail deliver
the children of Ammon into mine hands, then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the
doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon shall surely be
the Lord s and I will offer it up for a burnt offering (King James Version,Judges 11: 30 32). Polonius
also makes a similar vow to his King, Claudius. [Pointing to his head and shoulder.] Take this
from this, if this be otherwise.../ At such a time I ll loose my daughter to him. Mark the encounter.
If he love her not, and be not from his reason fall n thereon, let me be no assistant for a state, but

However, in Jephthah s case, He was unaware that he would be sacrificing his daughter. Unlike
Polonius, who willingly offered up his daughter Ophelia. Also, Polonius states I have a daughter
that I love passing well to which hamlet responds Nay, that follows not. (2.2.359 61). Hamlets
meaning is a dual one. Hamlet was referring to a song he was singing about Jephthah just before
said statement which ended The which he loved passing well (2.2.356). Hamlet s comment is to
mean that no, that is not the next line in the song as well as no, you do not love your daughter.
Polonius was more concerned with himself than Ophelia s well being when her and Hamlet get
into altercation. This also ties in with Hamlet s comment of Polonius being a fishmonger. Partridge
claims a fishmonger comes from a dealer in fish; cf. fleshmonger, meaning a procurer or pimp

Hitler and the Appeasement Policy of the 1930s Essay
Appeasement Policy was a foreign policy that was adapted by Britain and
France in the 1930 s towards Germany. Britain and France let Hitler have
whatever they considered necessary to preserve peace in Europe, as they
merely wanted to focus on domestic issues, such as economy and
unemployment . They believed that Hitler had certain aims and that once he had
achieved these, he would be satisfied. So they allowed him to re arm, invade the
Rhineland (1936), and complete the Anschluss of Austria (1938) followed by the
Sudetenland. Appeasement assumed Hitler would keep his side of the bargain,

Appeasement between Adolf Hitler and Neville Chamberlain had been strained.
Chamberlain had neither desire nor economic stance to be drawn into a costly

would come into effect. Furthermore he favored a policy of appeasement.
Chamberlain believed Hitler was a reasonable leader and planned on giving him
whatever Germany needed, so that he could be satisfied or appeased.
Chamberlain believed that Hitler would keep his promises. As well Canada s
Prime Minister, Mackenzie King was also in favor of appeasement and believed
that Hitler was a sincere man who had no intention to provoke a war. He too,
agreed with Chamberlain that Hitler could soon be appeased. Mackenzie King
and Neville Chamberlain had what they believed to be good reasons for
supporting appeasement, however Adolf Hitler was nothing but a cruel, ruthless
man that manipulated all the countries leaders as to believing that he was a

Early Baroque Music The Baroque Period (1600 1750) was mainly a period of newly discovered
ideas. From major new innovations in science, to vivid changes in geography, people were

Social Isolation
Social support constitutes the psychological and material resources provided by a social network
to benefit an individual s ability to cope with stressful events. The perceived ability of social
support may protect against the potential of stressful events to elicit psychological distress,
depression, and anxiety. Cohen asserted that possible explanation for the buffering effect of being
hugged is that hugs might be exchanged between individuals involved in a situation involving
tension and conflict either as a means of resolving that conflict or as a counter to associated
emotional aftereffects (138). Cohen summarized that these findings suggest that people who
regularly receive hugs are more protected than those who do not (144). Several... Show more

In terms of cognitive mechanisms loneliness in people is affiliated with higher tonic vascular
resistance, blood pressure and hypothalamic pituitary adrenocortical (HPA) activation, and lower
inflammatory control, immunity, and sleep salubrity. The causal role of loneliness on neural
mechanisms is difficult to test conclusively in humans, so animal studies to evaluate the causal
effects of being a member of a social species living chronically on the social perimeter, deprived
of mutual assistance and companionship. Animal studies of social isolation indicate low
neurogenesis, brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and nerve growth factor (NGF) in

corticosterone levels in the prefrontal cortex; low cAMP response element binding protein

Frost At Midnight Critical Analysis
Coleridge frequently explores the relationship and interactions between humanity and nature in his
poetry. His poems, particularly his conversation poem Frost at Midnight , allows the reader into his
internal thoughts between the two groups. Coleridge shows how the thinking of the mind is
mirrored in nature and how patterns repeat to reveal universal aspects in poetry, thoughts, and
nature. Coleridge uses nature to capture the minds movement. Frost is the means that begins the
poem and is how the structure of the poem is assembled. The poem contains organic, repeating
fractal patterns with small variations within them similar to how frost is propagated. These
patterns exist throughout nature in honeycombs, mountains, clouds, and leaves. Repetition is
also seen between the speaker of the poem, Coleridge, and his infant son, Hartley. Repetition
exists here as Harley is, in some way, a replica of Coleridge as children can be seen as versions of
their parents. But Coleridge also points out how he and his son are different as well. Coleridge
wants his son to be intimately familiar with nature by saying With tender gladness, thus to look at
thee, / And think that thou shalt learn far other lore / And in far other scenes! (lines 49 51).
Coleridge is going to make sure that his son will enjoy nature and not have the experience he had
in the city. The alliteration of the Th sound in thus to look at thee, / And think that thou (lines 49
50) also draws the reader to these

make packages with at least three or more nights. The facts showed that in 2000 average people
spent three days in the Walt DisneyWorld theme park, mostly because in this location tourists
had more like a resort and more things to do, also a place to spend the night. During the same

Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Essay
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... (John Steinbeck, brainyquote.com) Fear greatly corrupts
the peace and civility in a town in the Twilight Zone. The Twilight Zone is a TV show from the
1960s, composed of separate short stories. This is a very unique show that touches on the fatal
flaws of all humans, where most shows exaggerate the admirable characteristics of humans. In The
Twilight Zone, there is a short story called, Monsters Are Due On Maple Street, by Rod Serling,
where characters continuously search for a scapegoat, led by suspicion and fear. In, Monsters Are
Due On Maple Street, the author discusses the evil weapons of humanity, including scapegoating
and suspicion. These two weapons of humanity lead to the destruction of civility on Maple
Street, as neighbors turn on one another. Suspicion is one of the dangerous weapons of
humanity. In this scene, a peculiar meteor like object flew over Maple Street, causing all of the
power to go out. A young boy, Tommy, presents the idea that aliens are behind this. They sent
four people...who looked just like humans... but they weren t. There s a quiet laughter at this...that
comes from a desperate attempt to lighten the atmosphere. The neighbors look at one
another...concerned, (Serling, pg. 5,6). This quote shows that the crowd is starting to become
suspicious of one another. The crowd is panicked and willing to believe anything, even though
there is no proof saying that someone is an alien. Tommy declares that one of the families that
live on Maple Street are aliens. The crowd now believes that someone isn t who they say they
are, just because a young boy decided that that was the only logical explanation. The suspicion is
shattering the neighbors trust in each other. This may cause neighbors to turn on each other. In
this scene, one of the neighbors, Les Goodman, tries to start his car, because no one else s cars are
working. He stops suddenly as behind him...the car engine starts up all by itself...The
crowd...continues to ask questions in an air of accusation, (Serling, pg. 6,7). These stage directions
show that when Les s car starts, the crowd becomes immediately suspicious of Les. The crowd

Examples Of Child Care Observation
Step 1: Participant.
The child I chose to observe was a brown hair, Hispanic 15 month old girl. The reason I chose to
observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has
such a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her
parents just dropped her off.
Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to
observe the child.
I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I
briefly described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and
asked if it would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no
problem with it. The mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before
submitting it just so she could read it, and make sure everything looked good.
Step 3: Procedure.
The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood
Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/
breakfast time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the

Data Quality As Crime And Crime
In our continuing state of shrinking government operating budgets, crime scientists and crime
analysts need to consider the interrelatedness of spatial and temporal shifts in crime patterns when

specific parts of neighborhoods contain high concentrations of crime

2.2History of GIS and Crime The use of GIS in crime has been around for centuries with Dent
(2000) tracing the mapping of crime back to 1829, when Adriano Balbi and AndrГ© Michel
Guerry created choropleth maps showing the relationship between violent and property crimes
with education levels. As time went on sociologists from the Chicago School, Shaw and McKay
(1931) began to map crimes by their XY coordinates to show the geographic location to
understand the importance of the crime location. In the 1980 s the reduction in price of computers
meant it became more cost effective for GIS Applications (Longley et al, 2011). With the
introduction of the new GIS technologies, the ability to use police records within the GIS
applications allowed for crime and intelligence analysis (Radcliff, 2004). These days the
advancements in technology and the reductions in cost has resulted in GIS applications moving
from the backroom computer analysis tool to be used by almost every discipline, from criminology
to healthcare, natural resources to economics. These advancements have not just been in the
applications but also in the science behind them. This has allowed for more advanced analysis,

Jit Production System And Quality Control
Today a new production paradigm has emerged which can traced to various developments and
innovations within the JIT production system and quality control in Japan within the 1950s.
Variously labelled world class manufacturing , lean production , new production system , JIT/TQC ,
time based competition has become a mainstream approach to production ideology by the major
manufacturing companies in both the USA and within Europe. This new ideology of production

In design, control and improvement of production systems, both aspects have to be considered.
Herein lies the issue: traditionally managerial philosophies have only considered conversions, either
that or else all activity has been considered as adding value. The general disregard of flow processes
have led to a complex, confused and uncertain understanding of their operation as well an expansion
of non value adding activities and hence a reduction of general output value. Nonetheless a range of
flow process principles have evolved and there is good evidence that these principles have produced
an efficiency of flow processes and also one which may be considerably improved. These can be
summarized thus: 1.Reduce the share of non value adding activities. 2.Increase output value
through systematic consideration of customer requirements. 3.Reduce variability. 4.Reduce cycle
times. 5.Simplify by minimizing the number of steps, parts and linkages. 6.Increase output
flexibility. 7.Increase process transparency. 8.Focus control on the complete process. 9.Build
continuous improvement into the process. 10.Balance flow improvement with conversion
improvement. 11.Benchmark. Various forms of analysis has demonstrated that, as with the
manufacturing sector, the conceptual basis of construction

Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
Crooked Relationships
Why are women so controlling in everything? In William Shakespeare s Macbeth and Emily Bronte
s Wuthering Heights, the women take control, over men, in the relationship. Sexism and jealousy
are the two biggest problems in an existing relationship. The readers find out how ambition, sexism,
and jealousy takes over lives. In other words, too much ambition may be fatal.
When women don t get what they want, bad things are subject to happen. Women will always rule
in the face of the earth until none are left. Lady Macbeth rules the relationship over Macbeth
himself. She wanted her husband, Macbeth, to kill Duncan, but he wasn t going for it at all. Lady

like a man, so she can do the things that her husband, Macbeth, won t do.
Just like how ambition took over on Macbeth, it took over his wife, Lady Macbeth, too. The
readers of Macbeth know how too much ambition can go two ways. In Lady Macbeth s situation,
ambition has become very bad for him. Thomas quotes, The unsex me here passage... Lady
Macbeth s invocation parallels the witches earlier ones. Through her positioning and dress, she

she was secretly a part of the desperate murder of Duncan.

For many people in the world to see an advertisement and move past it because they find them
rather annoying has become the normalcy of today s society. However, if people actually paid
attention to those advertisements the readers would find that they think some of the ads should not

model who looks to be about twenty four years old. The model has shoulder length blonde hair,
a clear skin tone, and a facial expression that could be considered provocative. The model is
naked and only covered by a dress that she holds up which still only covers a portion of her top,
middle section, and private area. Despite this dress, her complete right leg, thigh, arm, neck, and
shoulders are revealed. In the foreground is a Miss Dior perfume bottle with the words Miss
Dior and you, what would you do for love? . In Jean Kilbourne s Killing Us Softly 4, she states
that advertisements often send certain messages about women. Kilbourne claims that unrealistic
ideas of women are often proposed within ads, such as symbolizing women as objects and not
people, or even the idea that if you are not beautiful, then you are nothing. In the Dior
advertisement, a few of its aspects uphold statements made by Jean Kilbourne such as sexualizing
models to sell a product, emphasizing the idea of looking young and attractive, and placing models
in vulnerable positions.

Difference Between Grand Theory And Grand Theories
A theory is a statement that rationalizes the relationship between variables, within a set of
assumptions. It is a proposed justification for the complexities of the world around us. So a notion
that provides an answer to the question why is a theory. It could be connections between different
phenomena, why something occurs or does not occur, with a set of logical arguments.
There are generally two main kinds of theories. Grand theory and Empirical theory. A grand theory
is one that is unbounded by temporal or special boundaries. It can be applied to any population at

It may not be applied to all the contexts throughout the globe or may not be applicable in different
time periods, but it would have empirical details.
To understand what a theory is, I think it would be better to have a clear concept of what it is not.
Often theorists confuse the following aspects of a research to a theory. We can say that all of the
following aid a theorist in developing a theory, but they themselves cannot rather should not be
considered theories.

  • 2. Composition II Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow First impressions of Piet Mondrian s Composition II with Red Blue and Yellow generally identify the art as shapes with color. However, there is much meaning behind the abstract work of art. Created in 1930 on a 46x46cm canvas, the oil painting portrays thick, black brushwork separating different figures of rectangles. It was made on the foundation of Neo Plasticism, an artistic movement at that time focusing on the most basic, abstract elements of painting. The artist s intended effect, harmonious tension, is well achieved through the contrast between the colored rectangles and black lines, and perspective. An element of the art that helped convey the effect was the contrast between the colored rectangles and black lines. The artwork portrayed different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Separating these rectangles is black lines, all of different thickness. Mondrian saw this contrasts between the colored shapes and line as a metaphor for reality. It signifies both the balance and harmony of dynamic forces in life. These dynamic forces in life work together to create peace, just as the rectangles and lines work together to create peace in the art. The overall asymmetry contributes to the other effect: tension. The black lines run off of the canvas, and seem to never end. Nothing in the painting is alike, all different shapes and colors. Although the painting can seem so beautiful and perfect at first, it may also bring the stress and lust to make to go and align the shapes and lines to make it symmetrical. This is a metaphor for the utopia and dystopia in life. Life can be so calming, yet comes with it, is the tension and anxiety. For example, in Mondrian s life, he moved to the Netherlands in pursuit of expanding his art. This relatively hopeful and jubilant decision was shut down when World War I began. It had seemed like World War I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corticosterone facilitates saccharin intake in adrenalectomized rats: does corticosterone increase stimulus salience?. Journal of neuroendocrinology 12: 453 460. Young 180 200 gram male Sprauge Dawley rats housed in individual hanging wire cages within 21 23В°C twelve hour lit rooms were given food and water ad libitum until surgery to test whether adrenalectomized rats willingly drink sweet saccharin solutions as a function of circulating corticosterone, and if corticosterone increases the motivation for saccharin intake after a period of withdrawal by sham adrenalectomizing three groups of five to six rats, and bilaterally adrenalectomizing and implanting 100 milligram pellets (wax 0% Corticosterone, 15 and 30% Corticosterone cholesterol, or 100% Corticosterone) into four groups of 5 6 rats. These needs encompass a broader range of human desires, starting from the fundamental ones for survival to the complex emotional needs for comfort that surrounds individual s psychological well being. In 1954, one of the social psychologist by the name Abraham Maslow who was interested in a broad spectrum of analyzing and understanding the human needs came up with a hierarchy of human needs theory portrayed in the form of a pyramid (Maslow, 2013). Typically, a hierarchy is a presentation or an arrangement that ranks concepts or people from the lowest level to the highest. According to Maslow, people must meet the wants at the lower level of the hierarchy before they can have the motivation to work for the next heights. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs As stated by Taormina Gao (2013), the Maslow hierarchy of needs is based on two concepts: the deficiency/lack needs and the growth desires. The primary and most fundamental four layers of the Maslow hierarchy concentrates on physical requirements, safety and security, love, and self esteem. When individuals are unable to meet these deficiency wants, there may not be a concrete suggestion or warning, but they will feel tense, anxious, and uncomfortable. Many characters appearances play a major role to discourage females. They enforce beauty ideals set predominantly by males. This can be seen in the following quote in Pride and Prejudice, [...] he looked for a moment at Elizabeth, till catching her eye, he withdrew his own and coldly said, She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me; and I am in no humour at present to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men (Austen 7). • 9. Ancient Roman And Greek Architecture Modern Architecture around the globe had been influenced by ancient Roman and Greek architectural. Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations in architecture having both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be appreciated today, they appear to have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at first sight seem similar but in reality they each diverged and had their own identity and served for different purposes. Ancient Greek and Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out religious or spiritual happenings, and for the adoration of their gods who were believed to protect and sustain their own community. Compared to the Romans, the purpose of building the Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a sacred precinct as a home for their gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an inner chamber called naos or cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods, but they honored them as well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in charge of ensuring the needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a representation of their philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their temples functioned as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues, however they had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many novelists, therefore, utilize symbols to portray themes that would be difficult to describe in words. Beloved, by Tony Morrison, describes the story of a woman, Sethe, who has killed her own daughter. Since the average reader does not share this experience with Sethe, Morrison uses different symbols to depict themes that may be otherwise obscure to a reader unfamiliar with the story. In Beloved, Tony Morrison uses symbols to represent the themes of identity, vulnerability, and encumbrance, which are common to the characters of the novel. Hamlet was referring to a song he was singing about Jephthah just before said statement which ended The which he loved passing well (2.2.356). Hamlet s comment is to mean that no, that is not the next line in the song as well as no, you do not love your daughter. They believed that Hitler had certain aims and that once he had achieved these, he would be satisfied. So they allowed him to re arm, invade the Rhineland (1936), and complete the Anschluss of Austria (1938) followed by the Sudetenland. Furthermore he favored a policy of appeasement. Chamberlain believed Hitler was a reasonable leader and planned on giving him whatever Germany needed, so that he could be satisfied or appeased. Chamberlain believed that Hitler would keep his promises. The perceived ability of social support may protect against the potential of stressful events to elicit psychological distress, depression, and anxiety. • 32. Frost At Midnight Critical Analysis Coleridge frequently explores the relationship and interactions between humanity and nature in his poetry. His poems, particularly his conversation poem Frost at Midnight , allows the reader into his internal thoughts between the two groups. Coleridge shows how the thinking of the mind is mirrored in nature and how patterns repeat to reveal universal aspects in poetry, thoughts, and nature. Coleridge uses nature to capture the minds movement. Frost is the means that begins the poem and is how the structure of the poem is assembled. The poem contains organic, repeating fractal patterns with small variations within them similar to how frost is propagated. These patterns exist throughout nature in honeycombs, mountains, clouds, and leaves. Repetition is also seen between the speaker of the poem, Coleridge, and his infant son, Hartley. Repetition exists here as Harley is, in some way, a replica of Coleridge as children can be seen as versions of their parents. But Coleridge also points out how he and his son are different as well. Coleridge wants his son to be intimately familiar with nature by saying With tender gladness, thus to look at thee, / And think that thou shalt learn far other lore / And in far other scenes! (lines 49 51). Coleridge is going to make sure that his son will enjoy nature and not have the experience he had in the city. The Twilight Zone is a TV show from the 1960s, composed of separate short stories. This is a very unique show that touches on the fatal flaws of all humans, where most shows exaggerate the admirable characteristics of humans. In The Twilight Zone, there is a short story called, Monsters Are Due On Maple Street, by Rod Serling, where characters continuously search for a scapegoat, led by suspicion and fear. In, Monsters Are Due On Maple Street, the author discusses the evil weapons of humanity, including scapegoating and suspicion. These two weapons of humanity lead to the destruction of civility on Maple Street, as neighbors turn on one another. Suspicion is one of the dangerous weapons of humanity. In this scene, a peculiar meteor like object flew over Maple Street, causing all of the power to go out. A young boy, Tommy, presents the idea that aliens are behind this. They sent four people...who looked just like humans... but they weren t. There s a quiet laughter at this...that comes from a desperate attempt to lighten the atmosphere. The neighbors look at one another...concerned, (Serling, pg. 5,6). This quote shows that the crowd is starting to become suspicious of one another. The crowd is panicked and willing to believe anything, even though there is no proof saying that someone is an alien. Tommy declares that one of the families that live on Maple Street are aliens. The crowd now believes that someone isn t who they say they are, just because a young boy decided that that was the only logical explanation. The suspicion is shattering the neighbors trust in each other. This may cause neighbors to turn on each other. In this scene, one of the neighbors, Les Goodman, tries to start his car, because no one else s cars are working. He stops suddenly as behind him...the car engine starts up all by itself...The crowd...continues to ask questions in an air of accusation, (Serling, pg. 6,7). These stage directions show that when Les s car starts, the crowd becomes immediately suspicious of Les. The crowd becomes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason I chose to observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has such a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her parents just dropped her off. Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to observe the child. I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I briefly described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and asked if it would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no problem with it. The mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before submitting it just so she could read it, and make sure everything looked good. Step 3: Procedure. The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood Methodist Preschool/Daycare. As time went on sociologists from the Chicago School, Shaw and McKay (1931) began to map crimes by their XY coordinates to show the geographic location to understand the importance of the crime location. Nonetheless a range of flow process principles have evolved and there is good evidence that these principles have produced an efficiency of flow processes and also one which may be considerably improved. These can be summarized thus: 1.Reduce the share of non value adding activities. 2.Increase output value through systematic consideration of customer requirements. 3.Reduce variability. 4.Reduce cycle times. 5.Simplify by minimizing the number of steps, parts and linkages. 6.Increase output flexibility. 7.Increase process transparency. 8.Focus control on the complete process. 9.Build continuous improvement into the process. 10.Balance flow improvement with conversion improvement. 11.Benchmark.
