Essay about Predicting Voting Behavior
Predicting Voting Behavior
Voting behaviour is increasingly hard to predict because of the variables that ultimately affect it, these
being class, gender, age, ethnicity and regional locality. It is the job of a political scientist to weigh up
these factors along with public opinion on major and current issues such as the Health Service, Crime
etc. In addition to these they will look at past elections and their statistics to determine the possible
result of an imminent election.
Research in the 1950 s and 60 s in Britain and the USA indicates that all the factors that might
contribute to a persons voting behaviour such as religion, gender, age and regional locality; social
class was by far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However this was put under massive dispute throughout the sixties and early seventies until nineteen
seventy nine where the conservatives were found to have major success in the general elections
because of high amounts of working class votes and the theory was suggested correct. Whatever the
reasons the Conservatives won the working class vote the theory did not account for the drop in
middle class voters.
Ultimately unless the parties fall into a trend whereby one is totally right wing and the other left wing
it will be very hard to predict or stereotype people to a political party just because of their class or
position in society.
Gender is out of the five categories, the most hard to base any conclusions from since the nineteen
ninety seven elections. This is because from the statistics there is very little gender differences in party
choice. Previously gender was attributed for one of the reasons for party choice; the majority of
women voting in the UK in the four elections between nineteen seventy nine and nineteen ninety two
voted Conservative than they did for any other party. This is slightly ironic because the Conservative
party was in fact the worst represented in terms of female MP s out of the major forerunners being
Labour and The Liberal Democrats. The complete disappearance of the

Model Minority Myth Summary
Studying Asian American studies this semester was much better than I thought it would be. The
ASAM 100 course taught me so many things about the Asian American and Pacific Islanders
community. Most importantly, I learned that the model minority myth is not true. The model minority
myth is conducted by the society to praise the efforts in overwhelming the hardships to fit in the
mainstream culture of Asian Americans. However, the model minority myth unintentionally harms the
Asian American population due to its stereotype of successful portrayal. In the article Truth about the
Asian Advantage and Model Minority Myth, Sarah Vang Nguyen argues the assumption of society
about the Asian advantages and the belief that all Asian people are doing well in education and
finance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nguyen implies that the model minority myth is acting as a mask covering the truth behind the
successful image of Asian Americans. Many people are not aware of the growing poverty rate in this
population which includes more than 11.7% of Asian Americans who are homeless (Nguyen 1).The
social constructs of America are turning the diverse Asian American community into a monolithic
group. Due to these social stereotypes, many Asian Americans are facing disparities and unequal
treatment when they are asking for help concerning financial issues. Furthermore, with the high rates
of high educational attainments, Asian Americans are portrayed to be very smart in education,
especially in mathematics. To me, this is a prejudice and discrimination because not all Asians are
good at math. Moreover, it is not only the Asian race who can excel in math. The false assumption of
society is pressuring the Asian American students to force themselves to fit into society s portrayal to
do well in

Taiwan Research Paper
Nations such as Japan and China had viewed the island of Taiwan as a resource and a collateral
component in their immense empires ever since their knowledge of its existence in mid 1400s. The
most prominent period in Taiwanese history began after World War II, with the beginning of the Cold
War. It was then that Taiwan s native government was completely dominated by China, demolishing
the island s independence which they would slowly gain back over the next few centuries. The
formation of the Relations Act with the United States in 1979 began a process that led to Taiwan s
political separation from China in 1987, establishing a democratic government along with a gain of
military support from the West.

Chiang Kai shek was the leader of the Republic of China who had been governing Taiwan under
martial law, however after his death in 1975, his son, Chiang Ching kuo succeeded him and made
political shifts to a more democratic system. ( Taiwan ) The most democratic element of Chiang s new
system was the elections that were held to replace members of the National Assembly, an important
part of the Republic of China s government in Taiwan, who were dying. ( Taiwan ) This was
incredibly significant because while it was a large democratic step, it was also the first time native
Taiwanese were able to participate in their government, eventually resulting in a majority of
Taiwanese born and a mainority of Chinese governing Taiwan. The Taiwanese government became
even more native after Chiang Ching kuo ended martial law and passed away in 1987, beginning the
presidency of Li Teng hui took office as the first native born Taiwanese to govern the republic in 1988.

Simultaneous, new political groups were being formed, the most notable being the Democratic
Progressive Party. Figure 1 below is a photograph from the party s formation in 1986, though the

Causes Of Water Logging In Dhaka
WATER LOGGING PROBLEM AND DRAINAGE IN DHAKA
IN RECENT years Dhaka City has been facing extensive water logging, especially, during the
monsoon. Even without climate change, likely damage from waterlogging in Dhaka by 2050 is Taka
11,000 crore. In a changing climate with more intense rainfalls, the loss will be Taka 139,000 crores
between 2014 and 2050. These damages can be reduced significantly to Taka 3,700 crores, if Taka 270
crores investment is made. The amount Taka 270 crores is equivalent to only 0.35 percent of the
government s annual development budget expenditure for 2014 2015.(World Bank,2015).Problems
that occur in the city are increase in water pollution, traffic congestion, air and noise pollution, solid
waste disposal, black smoke etc. Inadequate drainage sections, conventional drainage system with low
capacity and gravity, natural siltation, absence of inlets and outlets, indefinite drainage outlets, lack of
proper maintenance of existing drainage system, and over and above disposal of solid waste into the
drains and drainage paths are accounted for the prime causes of blockage in drainage system and
water logging. During the last 25 years or so rapid uncontrolled urbanization has taken place in its
capital city Dhaka. Substantial increase in built up areas has taken place due to insensitive
developments of areas through private land developers and real estate business (Tawhid, 2004). The
city has experienced water logging for last couple of years which creates

extensive research about the firm. For instance, if customer service is a weakness, you can find
numerous examples of bad customer service from consumer review sites such as Urban spoon,

Descriptive Essay About A Hot Air Balloon
Hot Air Balloon One day I was just sitting at home while I was thinking about what to do, it was
during thanksgiving so it was not only me thinking about what to do at the time. My whole family and
I would usually do something fun for thanksgiving after we ate our thanksgiving dinner and talked and
everything like that. I then had an idea that I had been wanting to do for a while but I didn t want to
say it because I knew nobody would want to do it except me. But then I was getting scared about the
idea I had myself; the idea I had was to go in a hot air balloon. I don t really know why but I suddenly
had the courage to just tell them that I thought it was a good idea to go in a hot air balloon. I was
expecting everyone to basically laugh at me and say no right when I said it, but I got a totally different
reaction then I thought. My entire family liked the idea to go do it but they all said they were to
scared, but we could still go because they said it would be really cool to watch me do it and anybody
else that wanted to go up in the hot air balloon. So, before I could basically even try to get over my
own fear of going up in the hot air balloon we were already on our way there. The best thing about it
was is that where the hot air balloon place was, people that we knew worked there so not only did we
get to go there in the first place. Now we go to do it for free, and I ll tell you what to go in a hot air
balloon is not cheap. So basically, this idea I had that I thought was never going to happen was
happening right in front of my eyes. So after about a 20 30 minute car ride to the hot air balloon lift
off place; we finally arrived. When we finally got there and all of my family got to the place to lift off
we had to talk about all of the rules. The rule that probably scared me the most was how you could not
move around a lot because the basket you had to stand in. The basket was able to break if there was
too much weight or there was too much movement and just other stuff that is possible. Also, another
really scary thing I had to do before getting in the hot air balloon was to basically sign a waiver saying
that if something goes wrong and I die it s not their fault. But even though with all

The Onset Of Bulimia Nervosa
The purpose of the study is to identify what may be the onset of bulimia nervosa and whether or not it
is related to a person being subjected to criticism based on their weight/ shape and eating habits. This
is the first of studies that take a look at a year prior to having bulimia nervosa. This study was
conducted through a control case study which is a study that looks at both a group that does have a
disorder and a group that does not have the disorder. It also determines if a factor affects either of the
groups and how that factor affects it. The study observed three separate group of women. The women
with eating disorders were recruited from eating disorder treatment settings, which were women who
were previously diagnosed with bulimia nervosa. The healthy women along with women with a
psychiatric diagnosis were recruited from high schools and university campuses. A total of 180 women
were observed. The first group of sixty women was women who had bulimia nervosa and ranged
between the ages of 15 38. The second group, which were the healthy women, their age ranged from
15 39. The healthy women reported not being diagnosed with any disorder. The last group of sixty
women s ages ranged from 14 38 and they were diagnosed as having psychiatric disorders. The study
was done on all Caucasian women. Women were excluded if they were pregnant, had physical
conditions or psychosis (mental disorder). For the healthy women, they were first evaluated with the

Essay about The Battle of Bull Run History
The Battle of Bull Run was the first battle fought during the Civil War. It was a bloody battle and
showed both sides that this war would not be won quickly. There were a few factors that swayed the
battle in favor of the Confederacy, such as terrain, weather and technology. The Confederacy was able
to use railroads to transport troops to battle, which had never been done before. This allowed them to
continue fighting while the Union troops were growing tired and weak. Since the battle was fought on
Southern soil, the Confederacy gained the upper hand. Not only did their troops have knowledge of
the terrain, they were also accustomed to the warmer, humid climate of the south. The Union also had
its share of advantages, one being use of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Union believed that if they defeated the Confederacy no further attacks would be carried out. In
addition, President Lincoln aimed to re establish Federal law in the Southern states that had seceded
from the nation. He also wanted the Union Army to stop Confederate legislators from meeting in the
new Southern capitol of Richmond, Virginia. President Lincoln believed that this would bring a
speedy end to the war. BG Beauregard held a strong position in Manassas Junction. Manassas offered
railroad access which would lead to the center of Virginia, by way of Orange and Alexandria
Railroads. It was essential that Beauregard was able to maintain this position.
The weather on the day of battle was hot, in the mid 80 s to low 90 s, and humid. The heat had a
negative effect on Union soldiers. The Union Army set out at 2 a.m. to avoid engaging in battle during
the hottest part of the day. Many of these Soldiers were untrained in road marches and lacked
discipline. They would break ranks to find water, rest or collect blackberries. For these reasons they
reached Bull Run three hours late and consequently ended up fighting well into the day. Both sides
went into the battle with high morale. They believed that over the course of a few days they would be
victorious and the war would be won in this one battle. The terrain of the Battle was mostly rolling
country side. Bull Run River was running through the battlefield, which is what the battle was named
after. Soldiers had to

The Ecology Of The Deep Sea Species
The Ecology of the Deep sea Frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus)
The off shore marine environment changes intensively with the change in the ocean depth. There is
three distinctive zones that can be classified the Epipelagic which extends from the sea surface to a
depth of 200 meters, the mesopelagic which extends from a depth of 200 meters to a depth of a 1000
meters and then the Deep sea which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to the sea floor (Castro
Huber, 2010). The Deep sea can then be divided into a further three zones (Figure 01) Bathypelagic
which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to 4000 meters, Abyssopelagic which extends from a
depth of 4000 meters to 6000 meters and Hadopelagic which extends which extends from a depth of
6000 meters to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). Figure 01: Ocean depth layers

The Deep sea ecosystem has been classified as the largest ecosystem from all other ecosystems within
the world (Martin, 2003). The main characteristics of this ecosystem is that it experiences very low
oxygen levels, the water temperature is extremely cold, the pressure within this area is very high and
sunlight do not penetrate to these depths. The species that do live within this environment are highly
adapted to these harsh conditions such as the Cookie cutter Shark (Isistius brasiliensis) (Figure 02).

Speech On Importance Of A Seat Belt
The Importance of a Seat belt There are many factors that are included in a vehicle to keep everyone
safe. One of these, is the seat belt. Safety comes first when someone gets in a vehicle. Seat belts save
the lives of many people everyday. When seat belts were invented, they were put into every vehicle to
keep people from flying out a window when involved in a wreck. There are statistics that show that
wearing a seat belt decreases the possibility of being injured to the point of death.
A seat belt is a long strap attached to a car seat, this tool was designed to keep the passenger in place
when in a collision. According to, Traffic with a smile, Today, the seat belt serves to protect drivers
and passengers from injury during any type of collision. Tnsafety.org says, More than 50% of vehicle
occupants killed in crashes in Tennessee were not wearing seat belts. There are many people that die
everyday, because they had a collision and were not wearing a seatbelt.
The seat belt is neatly made up of many materials such as polyester, fiber materials and coating
materials. It is woven this way so that the passenger will feel comfortable when wearing a seatbelt.
According to TAKATA, The width of the webbing is about 48mm and has a tensile strength sufficient
to support approximately three metric tons. The seat belt is built to support any height, body structure,
and weight. To make the seat belt move it has a built in retractor. The retractor helps it move

Music Piracy And Piracy
Introduction In today s world of conflict and international tension, music can aid to bring people
together. This generation enjoys access to extensive communication with people around the world,
through calls, text messages, and social media. Social media especially plays a vital role in bringing
people from all parts of the world together over common interests and beliefs. Music is playing a
major role in the unity of people through social media (Lachman, 2014). Music is often shared
through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr, allowing thousands of people to access new and

While they put their music up on YouTube in order to gain recognition, they risk losing money due to
loose piracy laws. For the artists, this means that while their music may be popular, they aren t getting
the benefits that should be receiving from the songs they release. Copyright Issues Another problem
that is arising with the growing access to the Internet is the ability for people to make mashups and
remixes of existing music. A mashup is the blending of multiple songs to create a new unique track. A
remix is a rearrangement of a song with original sounds and melodies added to it. Many free softwares
are available to the general public that allows them to use already existing music to create new tracks
(Potter, 2012). Although this may seem legal because the new tracks are original, it s still considered
copyright. Unless the original artist of the song gives permission for someone to use their track in a
mashup or remix, it is illegal to reproduce the music in any way. Unfortunately, due to the number of
people who create mashups and remixes of their own, and the difficulty of reaching an artist to gain
permission, most people do not attempt it at all. Mashups shared by mashup artists through social
media as a form of creative expression, similar to art and writing. Like original art and writing,
mashups play a role in global communication. Mashups get spread around social media, allowing
people from all over the world to listen, appreciate, and

Photo Based And Installation Art
Isabel, tell us about your beginning in photography. I earned a BFA from the Pontificia Universidad
Católica in my hometown of Santiago de Chile; it was quite the comprehensive program. I went in
thinking I would do sculpture and came out working in photo based and installation art. Though I was
instructed in many disciplines from painting to computer based and everything in between, the nature
of my practice determined that photo based was the most appropriate medium to develop the concepts
and ideas I was interested in exploring back then. A year later, I attended grad school in Canada and
obtained an MFA from the University of Guelph. Currently, my practice encompasses the creation of
photo based images, video works, and three dimensional objects concepts manifests simultaneously
through a variety of mediums. How were The Weekend and Quantum Blink created? The method
employed in the creation of Quantum Blink is a variation from that of The Weekend. The slicing is
analog and is the result of direct in camera interversions. There was a lot of experimentation with
countless materials, and plenty of trial an error before I could successfully achieve the results I was
after. The negative itself has the stripes, hence the irregularity on the edges and slight overlap which
becomes more apparent once the image is printed larger. While the temporal distance between
exposures in The Weekend reached up to seven months, in Quantum Blink the lapse ranged from a

Cuartin Creating Art Analysis
As an artist, I exemplify innovation and continuous improvement because it is absolutely essential to
my work. Drawing materials are often pricy and I cannot afford to pay for such specialized items, so I
must form an alternate solution from what I have. My innovation can be seen when I create makeshift
graphite blenders from copy paper and pallet knives from plastic utensils. Moreover, I like to
experiment art with different mediums. I have drawn on cardboard with only white and black markers,
splashed charcoal sketches with water, formed giant feathered wings sculptures from paper scraps, and
even pieced together a sculpture out of battered metal eating utensils. By blending my imagination and
these unique materials I form innovative original works. Moreover, I continuously seek improvement

The Frank Talent of Aretha Louise Franklin Essay
Aretha Louise Franklin was born on March 25, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee (bio 1). She was one of
five children born to Rev. Clarence L. Franklin and Barbara (Siggers) Franklin (Moritz 132). Aretha
was born into a very musical family. Her mother, Barbara, was a gospel singer and her sisters, Erma
and Carolyn, are both vocalists, too (Glickman 1, Moritz 132). Her brothers took a different,
unmusical approach to their lives. Her brother, Cecil, is the Assistant Pastor at his father s church and

Importance Of Friendship In Siddhartha
What makes someone a good friend? Do friends have to be together all the time to qualify as a good
friend? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the answer to these questions can be found.
Siddhartha, an unhappy Brahmin, leaves his parents and village with his friend Govinda to find
enlightenment. Govinda and Siddhartha separate, but later in the novel when they see each other
again, Govinda is still there for Siddhartha. Later in life, a ferryman named Vasudeva helps Siddhartha
find enlightenment. Hermann Hesse suggests that for a true friendship to work people do not have to
be together all the time or lifelong friends, as Hesse shows through Govinda and Siddhartha, as well as
Siddhartha and his relationship with Vasudeva.
Even though Govinda decides to take a different path, he still plays an important role in Siddhartha s
journey in finding enlightenment. Hermann Hesse writes, You re Siddhartha, Govinda exclaimed
loudly. Now, I m recognizing you, and don t comprehend anymore how I couldn t recognize you right
away. Be welcome, Siddhartha, my joy is great, to see you again. After many years apart, Govinda and
Siddhartha meet again at the river. It is surprising that the men did not recognize each other even
though they had grown up together. Govinda did not know it was Siddhartha, but he still feels a sense
of familiarity and protection over the man. Siddhartha is the first to recognize his dear friend, and it
takes Govinda a while to realize it is Siddhartha who was sleeping by the river. They are happy to see
each other, and even though the meeting is short lived, the men talk about their current situations.
Many years later, Siddhartha and Govinda meet again. Hermann Hesse also writes, Govinda stayed
the night in the hut and slept in the bed that had once been Vasudeva s. He asked the friend of his
youth many questions and Siddhartha had a great deal to tell him about his life. When Govinda and
Siddhartha separate once again, there is an extended time where they have no contact. The men still
feel comfortable with each other and Siddhartha invites Govinda into his home. Siddhartha had no
problem reconnecting with Govinda. It seems as though they had always been friends and they act like

memories are required to be recorded for the sake of mankind. Memories are valuable in the fact that
they can be lost so easily and forgotten that they ever existed. There are things that you have said,
things that others have said, experiences you ve lived through that you will never remember again, as

Memories replicated are never the same, and only a waste of time, because no situation can ever be
exactly the same and produce the exact outcome more than once. Memories are never truly replaced,
they are always at the back of your head, waiting for a time where it would be brought back into
thinking. Memories are never replaced, just layered as new memories occur during every living
moment. Although they get pushed down farther and farther as more memories happen causing you
not to think that far into the past, the memory s there, always just slightly beyond the veil of
remembrance. Flashing back to memories more than a decade and a half before can be a priceless
privilege that can be taken for granted. When people grow older, and their memories start to fade, the
memories left behind have more value because there s so little left. Memories have more meaning
when they re about to be lost forever with the death of someone and the ceasing of their brain signals
that keeps those memories alive. Memories prevent history from repeating, from mistakes to not

Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer s Twilight Books And...
Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer s
Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the
fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well
known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner).
However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the
subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that
Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media
claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media s
biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate
to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from
the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms
was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page
(Brodesser akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for married women
and mothers; however, that definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more
inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight

Blue Man Group: Creativity, Life and Surviving an
Economic Meltdown
1
Sometimes when we look at where Blue Man Group has gone; we just sort of scratch our heads. And
we think about how we started, basically just the three of us saying, Why don t we get bald and blue
and do stuff? Chris Wink, co founder with friends Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton
Monday evening on July 7, 2008, Chris, Matt and Phil were slumped around a conference table
littered with leftover sushi boxes, and sales and financial reports. Their CFO had just left the room. It

They had begun a journey they never could have foretold, opening shows in Boston, Chicago,
Las Vegas, and Orlando; taking their theatrical show to audiences internationally; making albums and
staging rock concerts. An estimated 17 million people had enjoyed their shows by mid 2008, paying
$43 to $131 for the experience.4 Along the way, CMP became husbands and fathers, and launched an
educational venture called the Blue School that embodied their spirit of creativity and collaboration.5
And they loved it all.
Before They Were Blue
In 1987, Chris, Phil and Matt found themselves in their mid 20s, sharing an apartment in New
York City, each quite different but all in search of a creative outlet. Matt had once read that life was a
succession of hitting plateaus right when you needed to meet a person or form a relationship to move
to the next level. That was our experience, he said. Phil was the relative newcomer to the group;
Matt and Chris had a history that extended back to high school.
Matt was born into a fourth generation New York City family, his mother a writer and teacher, and his
father a documentary film maker. He attended public elementary school, which he described as a big
institution with no soul, 6 and then the Fieldston High School, a private institution. He recalled his
high school years:
I was lucky to get into Fieldston at all. My test scores were so so; I later found out I was borderline
dyslexic. But the application

The Sociological Analysis Of Alienation In The Office
The Office is a popular comedy show that originated in the UK and ventured into the U.S. It is popular
among mostly millennials but can be cross generational because of the different cohort groups that are
represented in the show. The run down is that it s a mockumentary about a mediocre paper company
called Dunder Mifflin and the workers that cohabitate within. With Michael Scott being a kind, lenient
yet socially unaware and naive branch manager also having an extremely wide variety of personalities
coexisting in this primary social agent the episodes never fail to entertain. Exemplifying very simple
humor, this show can be argued as mind numbing comedy, however, I believe there are so many
sociological layers that are only evident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and finally says I m boring myself just talking about this ( The Pilot ). Jim is experiencing alienation
due to the dull, unrewarding work that he performs at his job.
Another strong sociological concept I pondered upon while watching any episode was gender biases.
Sociologists have studied differences between gender and have come to the conclusion that men and
women tend to make up majority of the jobs on the opposite side of the job spectrum. For instance,
men typically obtain jobs that express power, and decision making, such as manager, sales rep, or a
doctor. When women mostly occupy jobs that are emotion driven and require more emotional labor,
such as social workers, nurses, and receptionists. The Office reflects this idea because Pam Beesley is
the receptionist and is the first face you see when walking into the office. Pam has great emotional
labor and she shows it throughout the series by smiling at people even when she has gone through a
divorce as well as when her parents were going through a divorce. In the episode Dream Team Pam
leaves the office to start her own paper company (Yay for Pam transcending gender norms in the work
force!) which leaves Kevin to fill in as receptionist. From the get go Kevin struggles at the job because
he lacks the knowledge and social skills to handle the people who call into the office. This provides

Part Time Indian Comparison
When kids are younger, they are told that being different is good. And it is, sometimes. A lot of people
are different. But, at other times, being different can limit your chances. This is shown in the novel,
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. This novel is about a boy named Junior that is
different than the rest of his peers. He is the only Indian going to an all white school. Some of his
experiences there show that being different isn t all that good, sometimes. The book, The Absolutely

The Vatican City
Where would I travel to is a great question because there are so many places that I would love to go
and explore. Many counties have different cultures, history, foods and their art for example Germany,
England, The Vatican City and many more. In this paper, I m going to talk about The Vatican City and
all the things the area has to offer. The Vatican City is very historical area and their culture and their
structures, landmarks and the art.
The Vatican s history as the seat of the Roman Catholic Church and home to it leader the Pope. The
Catholic church began with the construction of a basilica over St. Peter s grave in Rome in the 4th
century A.D. The Vatican City was developed into a pilgrimage site and commercial district although
it was left after the move of the papal court to France in 1309. When the church returned in 1377 and
now famous landmarks like the Apostolic palace, the Sistine Chapel and the new St. Peter s Basilica
were established within the city limits. The Vatican City was established in this current form as a
sovereign nation with the Lateran Pacts of 1929 signed. The St. Peter Basilica Palace has been home
to 55 different Popes.
The Culture in this very small area is very spiritual. The City is a little more than two square miles
inside the city of Rome. There are approximately 850 Italian and Swiss permanent residents, along
with lay workers from Catholic communities around the world. The Vatican perimeter is surrounded

Margaret Sanger s Revolution For Women s Rights
Margaret Sanger s Revolution for Women s Rights Today the world s population consists of more than
seven billion people living on Earth, half of which are of men and the other half women. Now imagine
living in a world where those seven billion people didn t have rights connected to their own bodies. In
the field of reproductive rights, imagine if there was no form of contraceptives, birth control, or any
type of sexual education information to the public. The world would be in shambles being over

Upon becoming a nurse she took care of many poor families in the urban overcrowded streets of
families that lived in New York. One particular case she always told was the story of Sadie Sachs
which influenced her to really do something about women s rights and control over their own bodies.
That influenced me to pick her to write and research about her. As the story went Sanger said, Sadie
had developed an infection from an illegal abortion and begged Sanger and the doctor to tell her how
to prevent another child, thinking it would kill her. The doctor scoffed at her remark and promptly left,
leaving Sachs with Sanger. She begged for her to tell her a way to prevent conception, but Sanger
could not tell her anything, as it was illegal, (Katzive, 2015, p. 128). She felt enraged by how she
couldn t simply help a women in need of wanting to learn how to prevent herself from having any
more children. After the incident she met her future husband, William Sanger and together they had
three children. Not only did William give Margaret the gift of children and a family, but also gave her
the opportunity to finally share her knowledge of the topic pertaining to women and the use of
contraception. Since William belonged the Socialist Party, Sanger became affiliated with The New
York Call. This was a socialist newspaper where not only did she write a column on birth control, but
later she got an opportunity to create her own newspaper which was called The Woman Rebel.

The Flaws Of The Titanic And The Titanic
Despite how entertaining the film Titanic actually is, it has many flaws that can be pointed out. Titanic
is a love story between a woman of the upper class and a man of the lower class. Throughout the
movie they face the difficulties of Jack (Lower class man) not being high enough stature to please the
family of Rose (upper class woman) while they sail through the ocean on a luxurious cruise ship. As
the Titanic sinks the film shows the two being together and going through the catastrophe that is the
final hours on the Titanic. In the movie, Titanic, director James Cameron used a few important actual
events that occurred in the history of The Titanic. However, there are some things that were only
added for detail, entertainment, and action in film. Real life survivors from the ship s sinking report
what is valid and incorrect in the movie.
Many things in the movie, Titanic, actually happened in the actual event. One similarity is when The
Titanic s band continued to play as the ship went under. The lead violinist realized the chaos around
him and started playing, soon to be joined by his band members. An article on the Titanic says, After
the ship struck an iceberg, Wallace Hartley assembled his eight man band, and they eventually ended
up on the Boat Deck near the entrance to the Grand Staircase. There, they played ragtime and waltzes.
( Questioning The Story ). This is reported by survivors to be a valid occurrence in the sinking of the
Titanic. Another similarity between the movie and actual event is when ice landed on the main deck of
the Titanic. When the ship hit the iceberg, huge pieces of ice fell onto the main deck. A story on the
Titanic says, Survivor William Lucas reported seeing about a couple of tons of ice on the fore well
[deck] on the starboard side of the ship. ( Questioning The Story ). Many people report seeing this
incident happen that were aboard the Titanic. The Titanic movie has many similarities to the actual
event.

how the director, James Cameron, made the movie primarily based around Jack and Rose. These were
not real people on board the Titanic. They are entirely

Deck Training Plan
It may sound obvious, but when building a garden patio deck, one should always plan the decking out
on paper first before so much as even picking up a saw!
There is however a solution to this sometimes complicated planning stage.
A good quality timber decking kit will provide you with all the timber, deck boards, joists and fixings
needed to create a high quality, durable and elegant decking area, in far less time, and with far less
planning.
Of course, there are some aspects of the project which will need planning out whether you use a kit or
not. The first thing to consider is location: Would you like your decking to create an environment
which is sunny, shady, or somewhere between? Do you want the deck to lie next to your home, or ...

Also be aware of any pipes or drainage systems which sit beneath the surface of your proposed
decking area especially if you are to installing a raised decking area which will use sunken timber
posts for supports. Lastly, an obvious point but one which is often overlooked: never obstruct access
to any manhole covers or to any other system which you may need to be able to access once the deck
is completed.
Joist Timber Framework Preparation
The timber joist framework is effectively the base on which your garden patio is built. The timber
joists included in your kit will almost certainly be cut to length but be sure to check before you begin
screwing or fixing the timber joists together.
The timber deck joists are laid in line, parallel to each other, and at no greater than 60cm intervals.
With timber deck boards usually 120mm wide, you also need to allow 5 6mm between each deck
board to allow for shrinkage in summer, and swelling in winter. (Remember: deckboards, joists, and
other components are all constructed from a natural, living material)

The Innate Immune System Analysis
The immune system is comprised of the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system.
When pathogens invade the body passing through one of the body s natural defenses such as the
surface barrier, the skin, the innate immune system goes on the defensive. The innate immune system
responds near the pathogens point of entry. The innate immune system initial response is
inflammation, caused by the release of chemicals from damaged cells (Pinel, 2014). Cytokines are
proteins released by cells to assist in regulating the response to pathogens. Cytokines attract white
blood cells, leukocytes, and other cells that fight pathogens, known as phagocytes (Pinel, 2014). It is
theorized that phagocytosis, the process in which phagocytes destroy pathogens, is one of the first
immune reactions to have evolved to known vertebrates and invertebrates (Pinel, 2014).
The adaptive immune system consists of primary cells known as lymphocytes, which are specialized
white blood cells manufactured in both bone marrow and the thymus gland. The lymphatic system is
the storage unit of the lymphocytes until they are needed to fight pathogens. The major classes of
lymphocytes, B cells and T cells manage antibody mediated immunity and cell mediate immunity,
respectively. T cells respond to antigens on a cells membrane binding to infected macrophage
triggering several reactions simultaneously. Including, the reproduction of more T cells with the
specific receptor necessary to destroy the pathogens (Pinel, 2014).
The second part of the immune system is the adaptive immune system, occurring when B cells
attaches to an antigen when it has an appropriate receptor to fight the antigen. B cells replicate to
manufacture antibodies. The antibodies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Measure Of Dispersion And Nonprofit Administration
Measure of Dispersion is a descriptive statistic that complements the measures of central tendency as
it indicates how data relates to a variable and its mean. As we examine the different types of measure
of dispersion within public and nonprofit administration, we will also cross examine this idea among
other academic disciplines to discover how this statistical concept is used among other researchers. In
addition, we will learn the importance of the proper utilization of identifying measures of dispersion
and how to fully explain this idea. This is important because if we fail to properly use the measures of
dispersion, we can jeopardize the reliability of our research and the validity of our data collected.
Measures of dispersion reveals to a researcher how parts of data may gather around the mean of the
variable of interest. Using measures of dispersion will also allow the researcher understand the
population or sample of interest to help researchers draw better conclusions. To understand measures
of dispersion, we must first identify the statistical concepts that help us measure dispersion. As we
progressed through primary and secondary schooling, we probably learned different mathematical
concepts such as mean, median, mode, and range. These mathematical concepts may be considered
easy mathematical concepts, but they are part of complex statistical ideas. Meier et al. (2015)
discusses in his textbook the usage of range and other variety of dispersion measures. He

Multinational Corporations ( Mncs )
1.0 Introduction Multinational corporations (MNCs) are powerful vehicles for the transfer of not only
the capital and other production functions but also managerial and technical knowledge across nations.
The effectiveness of human resource management (HRM) has been seen as the key to the success of
MNCs in the 21st century. (Liu, W., 2004). There are three approaches for best staffing a subsidiary;
ethnocentric approach when all key posts are filled by employing parent country nationals (PCNs).
Secondly Regiocentric approach which is in many respects a subset of the geocentric approach in that
the company organizes and recruits on a regional rather than global basis. Finally the Polycentric
approach which involves the MNC treating each subsidiary as a distinct national entity with some
decision making autonomy and are usually managed by local nationals (HCN s). The first part of the
report will analyse which is the best approach out of these three for the HR Managers of Sands Corp
to staff their new subsidiary. This then leads on to examining how the recommended approach would
impact on other HR areas. Finally, a conclusion will be drawn from all the points discussed. 2.0 How
best to staff the new Subsidiary The HR managers at the Sands Corp should best staff the new
subsidiary by recruiting locally in Japan, meaning a polycentric approach should be adopted. The
benefits of adopting this approach will be discussed in more detail and will include the benefits

Baseball Memoir
I have loved baseball for years, but by the time I was a freshman at Laurel High School, I had precious

Laurel. America s favorite pastime was treated there as a vestige of years long forgotten. The athletic
director ignored us, the students didn t support us, and the school funded us just enough to say that
they had a baseball program. Tucked away in a forgotten corner of the campus in the gloomy shadows

U.s. Foreign Policy During The Cold War
Introduction
I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting
attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures. This declaration, made by former
President Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947, is part of the Truman Doctrine, and was the basis for
U.S. involvement in Western Europe throughout the Cold War. Although the North Atlantic Treaty,
and the resulting North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), was established during the Cold War to
keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down, NATO has persisted since the
collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990. This essay will seek to examine the U.S. decision to create and
participate in NATO. It will begin by providing a history of NATO and the U.S. decision to participate
in NATO before considering how this decision is both an instance of continuity and change in U.S.
foreign policy since former President George Washington s Farewell Address. The essay will conclude
by considering the legacy of this decision and its impact on U.S. foreign policy. While this essay will
consider the period of time leading up to the formation of NATO and will briefly touch on the present
day, greatest consideration will be paid to the time period immediately preceding and following the
formation of NATO in 1949.

440,000 deaths each year. MedlinePlus reports that both cigarettes (smoking tobacco) and chewing
(smokeless) tobacco are bad for your health, and cause multiple and often fatal health problems.
Cardiovascular Disease
One negative effect that tobacco and nicotine addiction has on the health of the body is cardiovascular
disease. AHA reports that cigarette smokers are two to three times more likely to develop
cardiovascular disease than people who do not smoke. Also according to AHA, of the 440,000 deaths
each year caused by cigarette smoking, 135,000 are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases.
Nicotine in tobacco products causes an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, and a narrowing of
the arteries. Carbon monoxide that is inhaled when tobacco is smoked decreases the amount of oxygen
carried by the blood to feed the body s tissues. The AHA reports that carbon monoxide and nicotine
damages the artery walls, which leads to the deposition of fat and narrowing of arteries, which further
increases blood pressure. Damaged vessels and high blood pressure are all risk factors for heart

The Glass Castle Character Analysis
In The Glass Castle , pages 62 121, some of the characters have an experience that makes them
undergo a change in character. While it is not too noticeable, if you dig deep into the text you can see
how the characters are affected, and possibly make some predictions of how this is later relevant to the
story. Some of the predictions and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on
evidence from the story. Jeanette, Brian, and Lori all go through a transformation after they each
experienced some sort of distressing event. The first transformative event happens to Jeanette in the
hot pool. Jeanette s father is trying to teach her how to swim by throwing her into the deep water and
telling her to sink or swim. When she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next transformative event happens to Brian. Brian was intrigued by The Green Lantern since it
was a place his parents had always warned them about. Brian was dared to go talk to the woman on
the porch, with whom he became smitten with. After this event, it can be inferred that Brian started
distrusting what his parents had to say since he didn t have a bad experience. Later on his birthday,
Brian learns the truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with
Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad and Ginger came out,
she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept staring at the comic book, even though he d
already read it all the way through twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were
doing since he read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going on
in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to Ginger which makes Brian
angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that moment. I think the comic book was a symbol
Brian s innocence and he was holding onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was
with him and helped him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another
reason he was so angry to let it go. In addition, Jeanette hints at Brian knowing what they did since he
knows that the women make

Essay on Complexity Theory
The words complexity and complex have been used in the context of management. While the word
complex suggests dynamics rising from the interaction between elements, factors, parts, it results in
nonlinear and ongoing changes in the parts. The word complexity is used different ways in many
organization systems. The different uses of this word is dependent on the systems being chartered and
organized. Nowadays, complexity theory is at the center of what systems are today and it is attached
with the concept that a system is more than a set of machines. Regarding complexity theory, Margarita
Mayoral (2012) stated that Complexity theory enables the identification, characterization, and
comparison of the structure and dynamics of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Complexity theory tries to rationalize the behavior of complex systems by attempting to discover how
the separated factors of a system cooperate together to shape the system and its outcomes.
Characteristics of Complexity theory
Complexity theory also has some basic characteristics: Complexity theory is characterized by a
number of similar elements but they are separated. These elements interact information together by
receiving from their neighbors.
While elements keep interacting together, one agent s actions will affect to another agents so based on
these action, they divide into two kinds of feedback which are negative and positive feedback which
are the unique feature that differ the complex system from a complicated system. Due to these
characteristics, small changes in one area can make a large changes in the whole systems: It is not
always easy to determine and identify the boundaries of a complex system. The boundary often comes
from the observer s needs. But sometimes, we can base on the property of the systems to find the
boundaries of a complex system. History is an important characteristic in complex systems. It is easy
to recognize that all the actions, reactions, and behaviors in the past can influence the current s
behavior. Besides, the complex system also has some other

The Importance Of Self Esteem And Social Identity
There are a series of important steps in the development of one s self concept, self esteem and social
identity. These steps begin from birth and continue into the adult years. Physical awareness starts from
birth up until one year of age. Everyone is born with an internal sense of awareness, but it is only
physical. For example, Infants who look in a mirror would not be able to tell that the image they see is
themselves, instead they only recognize that the hand reaching out towards the mirror is theirs. Around
18 months children are aware that they are separate from others in the world. (Self recognition). If a
red spot is placed on an infant s nose, infants are able to recognize when looking in the mirror that the
dot is on their nose and would touch the dot on themselves, not the mirror. Around ages two to three,
infants can now refer to themselves using words such as I , or Me . Self esteem also begins to develop
around this age. Children begin to internalize standards and feelings of good and bad behavior. For
example, they will respond more to Good boy, or good girl , and react more in hopes of receiving that
kind of praise. By age four when children s self concepts start to emerge, they are often aware and
proud to show off their skills and accomplishments. A child who mastered the art of referencing a fire
truck as red , will start to show off their toy truck and say red to whomever they meet, or whoever is
around. If the child draws a picture,

My Lost Cat Short Story
Finding My Lost Cat Hurry up Teagan and get the pets or we re gonna be late! I slowly got up out of
bed and got my Tshirt on with my jean shorts and when to my mom and dad s room was so I could
watch the pets. I heard screaming and shouting going on downstairs. My pets Scooter the black cat,
Nikko the French bulldog, and Autumn the tortoiseshell cat never even noticed all the comotion.
There were twenty moving men in my house with me and my family, trying to get everything put into
boxes and into the moving truck or to the uhaul. I was really stressed because i m not used to having
people shouting all the time. But I was not packing or downstairs I was upstairs watching our pets, all
three of them.
My house was a mad hose for the whole day with movers yelling No that goes in the uhaul! or that
goes into the truck! . But on top of all that chaos my sister was yelling and screaming saying I DON T
WANNA LEAVE!
The day way crazy until it turned dark when all the movers had put every box, pillow, and couch into
the right truck. Finally all the movers were gone and we had everything packed. I was happy that that
time was over. All I needed to to now was go inside and grab the pets so we can get going.
Suddenly, as I turned to go inside and grab the animals I saw that the movers left the front door wide
open. Fear suddenly rose up inside me like a rocket going into the air. I was worried. What If one got
out?. The thought of that made me sprint and fast as I

Character Analysis Of Mike Wazowski And Sulley In...
Monsters, Inc. is a well loved childhood movie. Almost everyone has seen it, or at least heard of it.
Mike Wazowski and Sulley are the most established and famous characters from the movie. Mike is
known as Sulley s side kick and accompanies him while he is out scaring. Mike doesn t always agree
with Sulley, but tries to support him as much as possible. Mike Wazowski is known best by his
appearance, his personality, and his humor, or lack thereof. Mike s appearance is a little different from
most of the monsters seen roaming the factory in the parallel city of Monstropolis. Mike isn t scary,
even though that s the entirety of his job as a monster, which is to scare. He is green and petite for a
monster. His arms legs are toothpicks compared to his body. Imagine a sphere with strings as limbs,
that is how I would best describe his shape. The eye centered on his head is a jewel tone green and
very large. Rows of teeth are scrunched together in has mouth and are especially visible when he
smiles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mike Wazowski doesn t even like scaring the kids every night, since he is such a nice monster. That is
the reason he is Sulley s other half. Mike doesn t participate in the scaring much and just focuses on
the paperwork and the odds and ends no one else wants to do. His personality shows he is also very
hard working. Long hours working with Sully on trying to be more scary isn t exactly what Mike
wants to do, but he didn t give up on trying to scare. Boo is the young girl that was stuck in
Monstropolis, where the scarers scare. Mike showed her love, which proved him to be very
thoughtful. People can also argue Mike is daring by hiding boo with him and supporting Sulley who
had a great bond with Boo. At the end, Mike finds every shed of Boo s drawer and adheres it all back
together as a gift for

Carrie Bradshaw Quotes
Carrie Bradshaw comes from a prosperous, broken family. At the age of seven, her parent s marriage
floundered and as she began to mature, she became neglectful, ignorant and isolated herself. She
disliked it when people showed pity and benevolence towards her; clearly, she did not want to be
sympathized.
Carrie, even if your father and I are not together anymore, we will still make time for you and spend
our Sunday afternoons together as a family, cried Carrie s mother.
Don t you understand? We stopped being a family the moment you and dad signed the divorce paper!
Face reality mom and stop convincing yourself that we can be a family again, because that will never
happen! yelled Carrie as she slammed the door of her room. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On the night of the party, Carrie s mom was overloaded with work so she informed Carrie that she
would be working overnight. Carrie was enlightened; instantly she grabbed her car keys and drove off
to the party.
As soon as Carrie entered the bar, a swarm of inebriated teenagers cuddling and playing beer pong
welcomed her. She scanned the whole room in search of her friends and when she recognized Rachel,
she approached the group.
Carrie! You re here. I didn t know you d be able to make it, Rachel exclaimed, with a hint of
disappointment in her tone.
Yeah, well I m here. What makes you think that? I already told you I m coming... so I m here. You
know I stick to my words, Carrie raised her eyebrows.
With all your family issues, we really didn t expect you to come. We thought you d be all stodgy so we
re just surprised to see you here, Rachel added and displayed a sly smirk. Carrie was bewildered; she
did not see that coming from her supposed friends. Eventually, she was beginning to realize that they
were never sincere and genuine to her from the

The Impact Of Sports And Sports In Elizabethan England
There were many sports that made popular by citizens in Elizabethan England. Nobles most often
participated in sports such as archery, bowling, dice, hammer throwing and most known tennis (
Alchin Elizabethan Sports ). These nobles watched wrestling and blood sports including bear and bull
baiting and dog and cock fighting. The queen often appeared at these events (Alchin Elizabethan Bear
Bull Baiting ). Sports began to come from other countries and continents as people would travel to
england. Tennis was the most popular sport by the upper classes and originated in medieval France.
Sports presented an opportunity as a release for England s people. The most popular sport was bear
baiting which first became business in the mid 1500s. People s lives involved bull baiting and arenas
formed to host these spectacles. Philip Henslowe established dedicated animal fighting arenas in
Thames (Alchin Elizabethan Bear Bull Baiting ). The noisy, blood arenas were popular, and
considered the main competition to the plays put on at theaters. These spectacles gave people a place
to get away and watch a beloved event (Andrews). Golf s popularity was short lived. King James VI
of Scotland made it popular while he reined (Baker 86). Believed to have been popular solely for the
reason of the King playing it along with his mother.
The cruel sports had multiple effects on the people of England. People were at awe with these bloody
sports. An Italian merchant who watched one of these

Fresh water is one of the basic needs and essentials of all living things. Although, we all utilize it
differently, we use it in an everyday basis. Without water, it is simply said in five words that there
would be no life. As most know today, California is currently in the midst of a drought for about four
years now and it is becoming worst and worst, which is a severe problem. The problem is formidable,

Similarities Between George Washington And Thomas Jefferson
A comparison can be made between the President and Founding Fathers George Washington and
Thomas Jefferson. I will be comparing the ways that they dealt with foreign affairs, also domestic
affairs. In addition, I will also be talking about how they viewed the position of President of the
United States. At the end of this essay I hope to show that President and Founding Fathers George
washington and Thomas Jefferson are in ways similar.
George Washington was one of the founding fathers of the United States of America and also the first
president of the united states was the unanimous decision on who should lead the united states after
they broke away from Great Britain s power. George washington believed that being the first President

  • 2. Essay about Predicting Voting Behavior Predicting Voting Behavior Voting behaviour is increasingly hard to predict because of the variables that ultimately affect it, these being class, gender, age, ethnicity and regional locality. It is the job of a political scientist to weigh up these factors along with public opinion on major and current issues such as the Health Service, Crime etc. In addition to these they will look at past elections and their statistics to determine the possible result of an imminent election. Research in the 1950 s and 60 s in Britain and the USA indicates that all the factors that might contribute to a persons voting behaviour such as religion, gender, age and regional locality; social class was by far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However this was put under massive dispute throughout the sixties and early seventies until nineteen seventy nine where the conservatives were found to have major success in the general elections because of high amounts of working class votes and the theory was suggested correct. Whatever the reasons the Conservatives won the working class vote the theory did not account for the drop in middle class voters. Ultimately unless the parties fall into a trend whereby one is totally right wing and the other left wing it will be very hard to predict or stereotype people to a political party just because of their class or position in society. Gender is out of the five categories, the most hard to base any conclusions from since the nineteen ninety seven elections. This is because from the statistics there is very little gender differences in party choice. Previously gender was attributed for one of the reasons for party choice; the majority of women voting in the UK in the four elections between nineteen seventy nine and nineteen ninety two voted Conservative than they did for any other party. This is slightly ironic because the Conservative party was in fact the worst represented in terms of female MP s out of the major forerunners being Labour and The Liberal Democrats. • 3. Model Minority Myth Summary Studying Asian American studies this semester was much better than I thought it would be. The ASAM 100 course taught me so many things about the Asian American and Pacific Islanders community. Most importantly, I learned that the model minority myth is not true. The model minority myth is conducted by the society to praise the efforts in overwhelming the hardships to fit in the mainstream culture of Asian Americans. However, the model minority myth unintentionally harms the Asian American population due to its stereotype of successful portrayal. In the article Truth about the Asian Advantage and Model Minority Myth, Sarah Vang Nguyen argues the assumption of society about the Asian advantages and the belief that all Asian people are doing well in education and finance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nguyen implies that the model minority myth is acting as a mask covering the truth behind the successful image of Asian Americans. Many people are not aware of the growing poverty rate in this population which includes more than 11.7% of Asian Americans who are homeless (Nguyen 1).The social constructs of America are turning the diverse Asian American community into a monolithic group. Due to these social stereotypes, many Asian Americans are facing disparities and unequal treatment when they are asking for help concerning financial issues. Furthermore, with the high rates of high educational attainments, Asian Americans are portrayed to be very smart in education, especially in mathematics. To me, this is a prejudice and discrimination because not all Asians are good at math. Moreover, it is not only the Asian race who can excel in math. The false assumption of society is pressuring the Asian American students to force themselves to fit into society s portrayal to do well in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Taiwan Research Paper Nations such as Japan and China had viewed the island of Taiwan as a resource and a collateral component in their immense empires ever since their knowledge of its existence in mid 1400s. The most prominent period in Taiwanese history began after World War II, with the beginning of the Cold War. It was then that Taiwan s native government was completely dominated by China, demolishing the island s independence which they would slowly gain back over the next few centuries. The formation of the Relations Act with the United States in 1979 began a process that led to Taiwan s political separation from China in 1987, establishing a democratic government along with a gain of military support from the West. Chiang Kai shek was the leader of the Republic of China who had been governing Taiwan under martial law, however after his death in 1975, his son, Chiang Ching kuo succeeded him and made political shifts to a more democratic system. ( Taiwan ) The most democratic element of Chiang s new system was the elections that were held to replace members of the National Assembly, an important part of the Republic of China s government in Taiwan, who were dying. ( Taiwan ) This was incredibly significant because while it was a large democratic step, it was also the first time native Taiwanese were able to participate in their government, eventually resulting in a majority of Taiwanese born and a mainority of Chinese governing Taiwan. The Taiwanese government became even more native after Chiang Ching kuo ended martial law and passed away in 1987, beginning the presidency of Li Teng hui took office as the first native born Taiwanese to govern the republic in 1988. Even without climate change, likely damage from waterlogging in Dhaka by 2050 is Taka 11,000 crore. In a changing climate with more intense rainfalls, the loss will be Taka 139,000 crores between 2014 and 2050. These damages can be reduced significantly to Taka 3,700 crores, if Taka 270 crores investment is made. The amount Taka 270 crores is equivalent to only 0.35 percent of the government s annual development budget expenditure for 2014 2015.(World Bank,2015).Problems that occur in the city are increase in water pollution, traffic congestion, air and noise pollution, solid waste disposal, black smoke etc. Inadequate drainage sections, conventional drainage system with low capacity and gravity, natural siltation, absence of inlets and outlets, indefinite drainage outlets, lack of proper maintenance of existing drainage system, and over and above disposal of solid waste into the drains and drainage paths are accounted for the prime causes of blockage in drainage system and water logging. During the last 25 years or so rapid uncontrolled urbanization has taken place in its capital city Dhaka. Substantial increase in built up areas has taken place due to insensitive developments of areas through private land developers and real estate business (Tawhid, 2004). • 8. Descriptive Essay About A Hot Air Balloon Hot Air Balloon One day I was just sitting at home while I was thinking about what to do, it was during thanksgiving so it was not only me thinking about what to do at the time. My whole family and I would usually do something fun for thanksgiving after we ate our thanksgiving dinner and talked and everything like that. I then had an idea that I had been wanting to do for a while but I didn t want to say it because I knew nobody would want to do it except me. But then I was getting scared about the idea I had myself; the idea I had was to go in a hot air balloon. I don t really know why but I suddenly had the courage to just tell them that I thought it was a good idea to go in a hot air balloon. I was expecting everyone to basically laugh at me and say no right when I said it, but I got a totally different reaction then I thought. My entire family liked the idea to go do it but they all said they were to scared, but we could still go because they said it would be really cool to watch me do it and anybody else that wanted to go up in the hot air balloon. So, before I could basically even try to get over my own fear of going up in the hot air balloon we were already on our way there. The best thing about it was is that where the hot air balloon place was, people that we knew worked there so not only did we get to go there in the first place. Now we go to do it for free, and I ll tell you what to go in a hot air balloon is not cheap. So basically, this idea I had that I thought was never going to happen was happening right in front of my eyes. So after about a 20 30 minute car ride to the hot air balloon lift off place; we finally arrived. When we finally got there and all of my family got to the place to lift off we had to talk about all of the rules. The rule that probably scared me the most was how you could not move around a lot because the basket you had to stand in. The basket was able to break if there was too much weight or there was too much movement and just other stuff that is possible. Also, another really scary thing I had to do before getting in the hot air balloon was to basically sign a waiver saying that if something goes wrong and I die it s not their fault. • 10. Essay about The Battle of Bull Run History The Battle of Bull Run was the first battle fought during the Civil War. It was a bloody battle and showed both sides that this war would not be won quickly. There were a few factors that swayed the battle in favor of the Confederacy, such as terrain, weather and technology. The Confederacy was able to use railroads to transport troops to battle, which had never been done before. This allowed them to continue fighting while the Union troops were growing tired and weak. Since the battle was fought on Southern soil, the Confederacy gained the upper hand. Not only did their troops have knowledge of the terrain, they were also accustomed to the warmer, humid climate of the south. The Union also had its share of advantages, one being use of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Union believed that if they defeated the Confederacy no further attacks would be carried out. In addition, President Lincoln aimed to re establish Federal law in the Southern states that had seceded from the nation. He also wanted the Union Army to stop Confederate legislators from meeting in the new Southern capitol of Richmond, Virginia. President Lincoln believed that this would bring a speedy end to the war. BG Beauregard held a strong position in Manassas Junction. Manassas offered railroad access which would lead to the center of Virginia, by way of Orange and Alexandria Railroads. It was essential that Beauregard was able to maintain this position. The weather on the day of battle was hot, in the mid 80 s to low 90 s, and humid. The heat had a negative effect on Union soldiers. The Union Army set out at 2 a.m. to avoid engaging in battle during the hottest part of the day. Many of these Soldiers were untrained in road marches and lacked discipline. They would break ranks to find water, rest or collect blackberries. For these reasons they reached Bull Run three hours late and consequently ended up fighting well into the day. Both sides went into the battle with high morale. They believed that over the course of a few days they would be victorious and the war would be won in this one battle. The terrain of the Battle was mostly rolling country side. The Ecology Of The Deep Sea Species The Ecology of the Deep sea Frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) The off shore marine environment changes intensively with the change in the ocean depth. There is three distinctive zones that can be classified the Epipelagic which extends from the sea surface to a depth of 200 meters, the mesopelagic which extends from a depth of 200 meters to a depth of a 1000 meters and then the Deep sea which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). The Deep sea can then be divided into a further three zones (Figure 01) Bathypelagic which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to 4000 meters, Abyssopelagic which extends from a depth of 4000 meters to 6000 meters and Hadopelagic which extends which extends from a depth of 6000 meters to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). Copyright Issues Another problem that is arising with the growing access to the Internet is the ability for people to make mashups and remixes of existing music. A mashup is the blending of multiple songs to create a new unique track. A remix is a rearrangement of a song with original sounds and melodies added to it. Many free softwares are available to the general public that allows them to use already existing music to create new tracks (Potter, 2012). Although this may seem legal because the new tracks are original, it s still considered copyright. Unless the original artist of the song gives permission for someone to use their track in a mashup or remix, it is illegal to reproduce the music in any way. Unfortunately, due to the number of people who create mashups and remixes of their own, and the difficulty of reaching an artist to gain permission, most people do not attempt it at all. • 14. Photo Based And Installation Art Isabel, tell us about your beginning in photography. I earned a BFA from the Pontificia Universidad Católica in my hometown of Santiago de Chile; it was quite the comprehensive program. I went in thinking I would do sculpture and came out working in photo based and installation art. Though I was instructed in many disciplines from painting to computer based and everything in between, the nature of my practice determined that photo based was the most appropriate medium to develop the concepts and ideas I was interested in exploring back then. A year later, I attended grad school in Canada and obtained an MFA from the University of Guelph. Currently, my practice encompasses the creation of photo based images, video works, and three dimensional objects concepts manifests simultaneously through a variety of mediums. How were The Weekend and Quantum Blink created? The method employed in the creation of Quantum Blink is a variation from that of The Weekend. The slicing is analog and is the result of direct in camera interversions. There was a lot of experimentation with countless materials, and plenty of trial an error before I could successfully achieve the results I was after. The negative itself has the stripes, hence the irregularity on the edges and slight overlap which becomes more apparent once the image is printed larger. While the temporal distance between exposures in The Weekend reached up to seven months, in Quantum Blink the lapse ranged from a few minutes to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My innovation can be seen when I create makeshift graphite blenders from copy paper and pallet knives from plastic utensils. Moreover, I like to experiment art with different mediums. I have drawn on cardboard with only white and black markers, splashed charcoal sketches with water, formed giant feathered wings sculptures from paper scraps, and even pieced together a sculpture out of battered metal eating utensils. By blending my imagination and these unique materials I form innovative original works. Moreover, I continuously seek improvement in myself as I draw and sketch. ... • 19. Importance Of Friendship In Siddhartha What makes someone a good friend? Do friends have to be together all the time to qualify as a good friend? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the answer to these questions can be found. Siddhartha, an unhappy Brahmin, leaves his parents and village with his friend Govinda to find enlightenment. Govinda and Siddhartha separate, but later in the novel when they see each other again, Govinda is still there for Siddhartha. Later in life, a ferryman named Vasudeva helps Siddhartha find enlightenment. Hermann Hesse suggests that for a true friendship to work people do not have to be together all the time or lifelong friends, as Hesse shows through Govinda and Siddhartha, as well as Siddhartha and his relationship with Vasudeva. Even though Govinda decides to take a different path, he still plays an important role in Siddhartha s journey in finding enlightenment. Hermann Hesse writes, You re Siddhartha, Govinda exclaimed loudly. Now, I m recognizing you, and don t comprehend anymore how I couldn t recognize you right away. Be welcome, Siddhartha, my joy is great, to see you again. After many years apart, Govinda and Siddhartha meet again at the river. It is surprising that the men did not recognize each other even though they had grown up together. Govinda did not know it was Siddhartha, but he still feels a sense of familiarity and protection over the man. Siddhartha is the first to recognize his dear friend, and it takes Govinda a while to realize it is Siddhartha who was sleeping by the river. They are happy to see each other, and even though the meeting is short lived, the men talk about their current situations. Many years later, Siddhartha and Govinda meet again. Hermann Hesse also writes, Govinda stayed the night in the hut and slept in the bed that had once been Vasudeva s. He asked the friend of his youth many questions and Siddhartha had a great deal to tell him about his life. When Govinda and Siddhartha separate once again, there is an extended time where they have no contact. The men still feel comfortable with each other and Siddhartha invites Govinda into his home. Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer s Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner). However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media s biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page (Brodesser akner). Another strong sociological concept I pondered upon while watching any episode was gender biases. Sociologists have studied differences between gender and have come to the conclusion that men and women tend to make up majority of the jobs on the opposite side of the job spectrum. For instance, men typically obtain jobs that express power, and decision making, such as manager, sales rep, or a doctor. When women mostly occupy jobs that are emotion driven and require more emotional labor, such as social workers, nurses, and receptionists. The Office reflects this idea because Pam Beesley is the receptionist and is the first face you see when walking into the office. Pam has great emotional labor and she shows it throughout the series by smiling at people even when she has gone through a divorce as well as when her parents were going through a divorce. In the episode Dream Team Pam leaves the office to start her own paper company (Yay for Pam transcending gender norms in the work force!) which leaves Kevin to fill in as receptionist. • 32. The Innate Immune System Analysis The immune system is comprised of the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. When pathogens invade the body passing through one of the body s natural defenses such as the surface barrier, the skin, the innate immune system goes on the defensive. The innate immune system responds near the pathogens point of entry. The innate immune system initial response is inflammation, caused by the release of chemicals from damaged cells (Pinel, 2014). Cytokines are proteins released by cells to assist in regulating the response to pathogens. Cytokines attract white blood cells, leukocytes, and other cells that fight pathogens, known as phagocytes (Pinel, 2014). It is theorized that phagocytosis, the process in which phagocytes destroy pathogens, is one of the first immune reactions to have evolved to known vertebrates and invertebrates (Pinel, 2014). The adaptive immune system consists of primary cells known as lymphocytes, which are specialized white blood cells manufactured in both bone marrow and the thymus gland. The lymphatic system is the storage unit of the lymphocytes until they are needed to fight pathogens. The major classes of lymphocytes, B cells and T cells manage antibody mediated immunity and cell mediate immunity, respectively. T cells respond to antigens on a cells membrane binding to infected macrophage triggering several reactions simultaneously. Including, the reproduction of more T cells with the specific receptor necessary to destroy the pathogens (Pinel, 2014). Measure Of Dispersion And Nonprofit Administration Measure of Dispersion is a descriptive statistic that complements the measures of central tendency as it indicates how data relates to a variable and its mean. As we examine the different types of measure of dispersion within public and nonprofit administration, we will also cross examine this idea among other academic disciplines to discover how this statistical concept is used among other researchers. In addition, we will learn the importance of the proper utilization of identifying measures of dispersion and how to fully explain this idea. This is important because if we fail to properly use the measures of dispersion, we can jeopardize the reliability of our research and the validity of our data collected. Measures of dispersion reveals to a researcher how parts of data may gather around the mean of the variable of interest. Using measures of dispersion will also allow the researcher understand the population or sample of interest to help researchers draw better conclusions. In the spring of my freshman year I tried out for and made the JV squad. My first season was painful. I finished with no hits, having spent most innings on the bench. I knew I would never play if I did not improve my hitting. The problem I had was that there was no place to practice. The batting cage was a chest high jungle of weeds imprisoned by chain link fence. The school saw no point in restoring it, and everyone clearly understood the message that baseball and its players just weren t worth the effort. Everyone, that is, except for me and a handful of my teammates. We would not let them determine our worth. One summer s day in 2014, I borrowed my neighbor s lawn mower and met my teammates at the batting cage. I began mowing down the weeds, while they raked. Others restretched the netting back across the top of the cage. By the time the afternoon came we had a batting cage and a real sense of pride. From that day forward, we began practicing every day, year round. We talked baseball, walked baseball, lived and breathed the stuff. We shared our equipment and made do with what we had. We turned ourselves from a rag tag bunch of misfits into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. U.s. Foreign Policy During The Cold War Introduction I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures. This declaration, made by former President Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947, is part of the Truman Doctrine, and was the basis for U.S. involvement in Western Europe throughout the Cold War. Although the North Atlantic Treaty, and the resulting North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), was established during the Cold War to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down, NATO has persisted since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990. This essay will seek to examine the U.S. decision to create and participate in NATO. It will begin by providing a history of NATO and the U.S. decision to participate in NATO before considering how this decision is both an instance of continuity and change in U.S. foreign policy since former President George Washington s Farewell Address. The essay will conclude by considering the legacy of this decision and its impact on U.S. foreign policy. While this essay will consider the period of time leading up to the formation of NATO and will briefly touch on the present day, greatest consideration will be paid to the time period immediately preceding and following the formation of NATO in 1949. Formation of NATO Following the end of World War II, the United States became increasingly concerned with the perceived threat of Soviet aggression in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Adams secured the peace treaty with France, and he was in favor of the abolition of slavery. These are just a few examples of his dedication and devotion to this country. Thomas Jefferson had some good ideas that he never put into action, and often people believed that he was a bit hypocritical, or far fetched. Indeed, Jefferson s words often soared beyond his actions, leading to enigmatic inconsistencies in his personality that some saw as hypocritical. (A Magnificent catastrophe 15). Adams and those calling themselves Federalists saw a strong central government led by a powerful president as vital for a prosperous, secure nation. (A Magnificent Catastrophe 18). John Adams was a leader of the Federalist Party, which was the first political party in the United States. One of the biggest ideals for this political party is to have a national bank. Adams supported urban, big businesses as well as a national bank. Federalists strived for a strong, central government, so a national bank would be a part of this vision. Adams received strong support from bankers and merchants from the northern states. Adams swept the northern states, gaining votes from every elector in New England, New York, and New Jersey. Cardiovascular Disease One negative effect that tobacco and nicotine addiction has on the health of the body is cardiovascular disease. AHA reports that cigarette smokers are two to three times more likely to develop cardiovascular disease than people who do not smoke. Also according to AHA, of the 440,000 deaths each year caused by cigarette smoking, 135,000 are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases. While it is not too noticeable, if you dig deep into the text you can see how the characters are affected, and possibly make some predictions of how this is later relevant to the story. Some of the predictions and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on evidence from the story. Later on his birthday, Brian learns the truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad and Ginger came out, she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept staring at the comic book, even though he d already read it all the way through twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were doing since he read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going on in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to Ginger which makes Brian angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that moment. I think the comic book was a symbol Brian s innocence and he was holding onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was with him and helped him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another reason he was so angry to let it go. While the word complex suggests dynamics rising from the interaction between elements, factors, parts, it results in nonlinear and ongoing changes in the parts. Nowadays, complexity theory is at the center of what systems are today and it is attached with the concept that a system is more than a set of machines. Complexity theory tries to rationalize the behavior of complex systems by attempting to discover how the separated factors of a system cooperate together to shape the system and its outcomes. Characteristics of Complexity theory Complexity theory also has some basic characteristics: Complexity theory is characterized by a number of similar elements but they are separated. These elements interact information together by receiving from their neighbors. While elements keep interacting together, one agent s actions will affect to another agents so based on these action, they divide into two kinds of feedback which are negative and positive feedback which are the unique feature that differ the complex system from a complicated system. Due to these characteristics, small changes in one area can make a large changes in the whole systems: It is not always easy to determine and identify the boundaries of a complex system. The boundary often comes from the observer s needs. But sometimes, we can base on the property of the systems to find the boundaries of a complex system. • 42. The Importance Of Self Esteem And Social Identity There are a series of important steps in the development of one s self concept, self esteem and social identity. These steps begin from birth and continue into the adult years. Physical awareness starts from birth up until one year of age. Everyone is born with an internal sense of awareness, but it is only physical. For example, Infants who look in a mirror would not be able to tell that the image they see is themselves, instead they only recognize that the hand reaching out towards the mirror is theirs. Around 18 months children are aware that they are separate from others in the world. (Self recognition). If a red spot is placed on an infant s nose, infants are able to recognize when looking in the mirror that the dot is on their nose and would touch the dot on themselves, not the mirror. Around ages two to three, infants can now refer to themselves using words such as I , or Me . Self esteem also begins to develop around this age. Children begin to internalize standards and feelings of good and bad behavior. For example, they will respond more to Good boy, or good girl , and react more in hopes of receiving that kind of praise. By age four when children s self concepts start to emerge, they are often aware and proud to show off their skills and accomplishments. A child who mastered the art of referencing a fire truck as red , will start to show off their toy truck and say red to whomever they meet, or whoever is around. If the child draws a picture, ...
