How Can Freedom Be Demanded
Freedom should be demanded, because not everyone listens when you ask for something, if
anything people would laugh at these people who want freedom and not take them seriously when
they do ask for freedom. If people take a stand and demand what they really want and show they
want it and fight for it there would be people standing up with that one person too, then there would
be an uprising on how people needfreedom and demand it even more. A great example would be
the the day Martin Luther King Jr. took a stand and said his word on how there needs to be
freedom and how it must be demanded in order for us to get it, the day the pastor took a stand
and demanded freedom for his people (blacks) and as he kept saying his word and talking about
freedom for the blacks more and more people agreed with him and took a stand. It is a great
example of how freedom should be demanded and not given.
The reason people would laugh at the people asking for freedom and not take them seriously is
because these people would be in a higher class than others and laugh at the people who want the
same amount as the these people, they think that they are better than any one of of these people.

The Worst Things Going On Today Americ The Education Gap...
Cynthia Chambless, a lecturer professor at Bergen Community College, is discussing one of the
worst things going on in Modern America: The Education Gap. As much as we like to believe that
our current education system is the same everywhere and any student can succeed anywhere,
unfortunately, the quality of educationdiffers from each district. Cynthia has found that many
students have learned more and better than other students based on how high their social classis. In
fact, students from poorer neighborhoods can t even write properly. This has led to students from
poorer neighborhoods not being as prepared for collegeas students from more upper class
neighborhoods. The further we ignore this issue, the more people are set back from getting their
degree and accomplishing their goals. Students need the latest resources to be successful in
college and in life. Thus, The Education Gap between the rich and the poor can be solved with
more funding to community schools in poor neighborhoods by the government because low
funding is the primal reason for students being so far behind compared to their higher social class
peers. Eduardo Porter said, despite the efforts deployed by the American public education system,
nine years later the achievement gap, on average, will have widened by somewhere from one half
to two thirds. (Eduardo 2015). If we don t stop this issue, the system will only get worse. Meaning,
more students will be behind and not getting the right education

Tacitus Dialogue Essay
Tacitus: Hello, friends. I am Tacitus of Argos. Agathon: And I am Agathon. Wow, Argos? I ve
heard that you guys have been struggling lately with your king being crazy and all. So how is it
going anyway? Tacitus: It s not good. In fact it s terrible! The king has been raising taxes and
taking the money for himself. His greediness is what makes it so important for me to come here
and hear about your government. It s about time someone started looking out for us, for once!
But I ll stop my complaining. I came here to learn about Athens. Davos: And learn you shall! I m

During assemblies, a designated orator directs the conversation in order to maintain a civilized
discussion. Tacitus: Ok, so you really have thought of it all, but there s one thing I still want to
know: how does the assembly agree on a decision? You can t even decide if you re allies or
enemies with Sparta! Agathon: Hey! Let s leave the Sparta out of this. Anyway, in order to
come to a final decision, a vote must take place. Tacitus: A vote ? Interesting... So how exactly
would a citizen vote ? Davos: Usually, citizens who show up to the assembly can vote by putting
a colored rock into a pot. White corresponds with yes, while the black means no, creating a
private voting environment. After everyone has voted, the different colors of rocks are counted,
the results are tallied, and the final decision is announced. Tacitus: OK, I think I understand this
whole democracy thing now. It sure seems better that having a king! Why shouldn t I get a say in
the fate of my city state? Agathon: You should! And hopefully soon, you will. Tacitus: It s settled
then: I ll leave for Argos by sunrise tomorrow with good word about democracy for my people.

Essay On Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) In Canada
INTRODUCTION The debate over implementing an unconditional basic income (UBI) in Canada
is one currently being discussed and which splits political parties support. This paper will make
the case that a guaranteed annual income would be beneficial for Canadian citizens, encouraging
freedom of opportunity for every person, regardless of their financial status. In addition, it will
look at how different ideological affiliations affect one s opinion on the subject. The concept has
been tried previously in Canada, namely in Dauphin, Manitoba in the late 1970s as an experiment
aimed to observe the economic response of a negative incometax(Simpson, Mason, and Godwin
2017, 85). Recently, the announcement that Ontario will introduce a similar pilot... Show more

One reason for this is because many people view the oil fields to be assets owned by individual
citizens and not the government; therefore what they do with their dividend is their own private
matter. Secondly, politicians fear any close inspection of the fund s economic effects will stir up
suspicions that they may be planning a change in the future (Goldsmith 2004, 555). Informal
attempts to learn about citizens spending habits after receiving the cheque show that the money is
often used shortly after distribution. Many economists believe that the income is often spent on
consumer durable goods, a reasonable assumption considering it is received before the Christmas
shopping season. These spending patterns would provide increased jobs in trade and service
sectors of the economy (Goldsmith 2004,

purpose why I cannot present. Instead of being discouraged I focused to the things which I can
learn like observing those who perform live competition, those displays which are beautiful and

We Must Spend Our Days
One week a summer, for as long as I can remember, I wave goodbye to my mom through the car
window at six in the morning. I am inside my family s Subaru Outback along with my dad, little
brother, little sister, and a trunk full of camping gear packed so methodically that there is a six
inch square of sight out the rear window. After a five hour drive we will be transported from the
neat suburbs of Long Island to the forests of the Adirondack Mountains, where we will be
greeted by my Aunt Carol and her dog Baxter. For this week we will sleep in a lean to looking
out onto Taylor Pond at our favorite campsite, I 3. We will spend our days in the pond and our
nights around a fire. Our car and cell phones will be a five mile canoe ride away, just far enough
that we may actually escape their omnipresence for a while. Although we may return home with
clothes reeking of smoke and bodies covered in mosquito bites, our trip to this other world will
have been well worth it. On Taylor Pond our isolation from society cannot be confused with
actually being alone. We have loons, deer, eagles, frogs, and the occasional howling coyotes to
keep us company. The loons are normally the first to greet us, after we ve loaded the canoes and
commenced our five mile paddle down the pond. Their signature sleek black heads can be tricky
to spot as they are bobbing on the water one second, and are 200 feet under the surface the next. If
you re up early enough to catch sunrise it will likely be

Essay on Benihana
Benihana 1. What is the Benihana concept? Benihana restaurants are traditional Japanese hibachi
steakhouses, which feature the Japanese cooking method known as teppanyaki. There are key
attributes that separate Benihana from other restaurants. One is true Japanese authenticity. Every
item that is used in construction of a restaurant is 100% authentic and imported from Japan. In
addition, each restaurant is built by Japanese carpenters. All chefs at Benihana are native Japanese
with three year formal apprenticeship. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides being profitable, we can measure Benihana s success by customer satisfaction.
According to exhibit 4, over 46% of customers come to Benihana for good food, with 13% for
atmosphere and food preparation. Over 77% of customers rate food as being excellent and 71%
rate service to be excellent. There are certain areas of operational improvement that can make
Benihana even more successful. As atmosphere / ambiance are only a small portion of why
people come to eat at Benihana, I don t think that Americans really appreciate that every item at
the restaurant is imported from Japan. Benihana should use locally available materials and
carpenters. By doing so, Benihana can dramatically reduce its cost to of setup and will allow for
faster expansion. The cost factor is one of the major concerns for Benihana s growth. Each new unit
costs $300,000. In order to reduce the startup cost, Benihana must find revisit its operating model
and re evaluate what is the most important to the customers. Looking back at exhibit 4, majority of
respondents valued quality and taste of the food, service and preparation of food. These are the
qualities that truly separate Benihana from other restaurants. Changing Benihana s staffing model,
including training, and the use of materials and labor from Japan, will most certainly minimize new
unit cost. 3. Prepare an

Defining An Effective Leader
My view on leaders is that leaders are those who accept additional responsibility above normal
for decisions making and guiding others. Leaders will usually help direct others to become
successful. Individuals usually choose their leader, whether it s a good decision or not, each
person chooses who they follow. They will judge by behavior, attitude and actions. Qualities of
a positive leader are shown in their actions and words. Most often, positive leaders are always
striving for the best and won t settle for less out of others that may be on their team. Leaders
normally don t direct with directives, they direct by showing examples. Instead of telling their
peers or team exactly what to do, leaders will show or lead their directives by examples. Leaders
normally stay in close contact with their assigned teams, if leading a team. Leaders... Show more

Without goals and expectations our actions are meaningless. Everyone can get caught up in
planning or making goals, but if we as part of the team, or the leaders of the team, don t strive to

leader is making sure you put all energy and effort into being successful, not only for personal
success, but also assisting your team you re leading to be the best they can be and achieve their
individual goals, as well as team objectives. Having goals set as a leader, can be inspiring, to
make you act and ensure you and your team are progressing in a positive manner, to reach all
goals and expectations set for yourself and team. To achieve goals and as a leader to make sure
your team goals are met, you should always delegate and coordinate individual responsibilities to
make sure when all efforts are combined, everyone achieves success. When you have the right

Spanking Should Be Harmful To Children Essay
Can spanking, be harmful to children? The ethics and cultural influences affect the use of spanking
as a punishment. Spanking is controversial because it can be viewed as corporal punishment that
can have a negative affect on children. Others believe that it is a moral act to use with no
detrimental effects. Spankingis sometimes considered corporal punishmentand is used to alter an
undesirable behavior without physically injuring the child. There is a fine line between this
corporal punishment and abuse. Spanking can be defined as many things but if it doesn t injure
the child, is used as correction and used on the buttocks, it is not considered abuse. Spanking is
used to depress an undesired behavior, it works because the bad behavior stops quickly, however,
the long term effects can be distressing. The use of physical punishment under a year and a... Show

Externalization is when a child acts out with physical aggression toward parents and others. In this
case, the factor of externalization could result in hostile behavior in school and other social
situations. Internalization is geared for more inward problems. A child that shows signs of
internalization would have social detachment, hardships with handling adverse emotions and self
criticism. Children are reported to have shown greater externalization at age three when spanked at
age one; in return, externalization problems at age three along with spanking resulted in greater
internalization problems at age five. As a result, continues spanking at age one generates greater
internalization problems at age five. Internalization is shown to have effects on children at age five
who had been continuously spanked since age one however, being spanked at age one had no
internalizing affect when they were three. The impact on spanking children continuously eventually

Children at Play
Children At Play: Actual vs. Dramatic One of the signs of early childhood development is the
ability to engage in play. Young children (ages 4 6) prefer non structured environments that gives
them the freedom to un limit their play in different settings. Working with preschoolers for over
five years, I am fascinated to learn all the different ways children playto learn. I understand every
childhas their unique talents and skills that makes them individuals. It is important to sketch out
different play strategies for children and their desired interests. The goal is to answer the question:
what way do children learn the best; actual or dramatic. As a teacher and a researcher I define play

This play is about three billy goats who travel past a bridge. Under that bridge lives two
monsters who want to eat the goats. The point of the play is to get the five participants in
character. For example participant A who played the part of one of the monsters had to shout
and yell to act as a monster, participant B who played the part of one of the goats had to shout and
yell to defend her self from the monster. I realized this type of activity is a great tool for children
to let aggression and tension exit their mind and bodies. As Shallat puts it, The moral or
message that the author hopes to be derived from this dramatic piece is that the suppression of
discomforting feelings leads to additional, undesirable feelings and/or consequences. (Shallat,
2003) It is important for children that are at a high risk for disturbed behavior to engage in
dramatic play to let out negative energy. Suppressing one s feelings from an early age is a sign of
heightened mental burden for later years. Shallat also analyzes that, [...] actors and clinicians/play
directors are encouraged to create their own masks and costumes, providing additional room for
creative expression (Shallat, 2003) As a teacher I find this to be quite intriguing. I realize it is
important for children to engage in dramatic play especially if it highlights creativity

recognition program on employee engagement at a Fortune 500 financial institution. Specifically,
the impact of various rewards and recognition programs utilization was examined and correlated
with employee engagement scores. This chapter describes the researchmethod and design used,
participant identification and selection process, data collection instruments and definition of the
variables. It is proposed that:
H1: Employee engagement index will be positively correlated with the team s perception of fair
compensation.
H2: Employee engagement index will be positively correlated with team s perception that
performance is appropriately rewarded.
H3: Employee engagement index will be positively correlated with the team s perception of receipt
of appropriate recognition (beyond pay and financial incentives) for contribution.
H4: Average volume of team awards received through company sponsored recognition program will
be positively correlated with team s employee engagement score.
H5: Average volume of team awards submitted through company sponsored recognition program

The waste to energy skill is explored to development the possible materials in waste which are
biomass, plastic and rubber tire to be oil. The bulk of waste tyres are disposed in landfills, ensuing
in a sort of troubles such as taking up huge quantity of more and more precious landfill space and
unintentional fires resulting in highly toxic emissions such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur
dioxide (SO2), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO) and hazardous polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) [2 4]. A variety of strategies have been planned as choices to
waste tyre managing, all planning at tyre reprocess. Waste tyres can regrettably not be recycled
in traditional ways such as glass, metal or plastic by thaw out to attain raw material for new
products. This is as a consequence of the compound nature of tyres, which consist of steel,
rubber, carbon black, ash, fillers, etc. [5]. One more snag is that the polymers in the tyres are
cross linked, and these bonds cannot be chemically broken down simply [6]. Pyrolysis is distinct
as the method by which materials are thermally degraded by subjection to high temperature in the
lack of oxygen [7]. The pyrolysis process is effectual in the recycling of waste materials, counting
waste tyres, and thus contributes to decrease the ecological impact of waste tyres [8]. The
pyrolysis process yields three main products i.e., a gas, liquid and solid [9]. The

Essay on The Turing Test
One of the hottest topics that modern science has been focusing on for a long time is the field of
artificial intelligence, the study of intelligence in machines or, according to Minsky, the science
of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men .(qtd in Copeland
1). Artificial Intelligence has a lot of applications and is used in many areas. We often don t
notice it but AI is all around us. It is present in computer games, in the cruise control in our cars
and the servers that route our email. (BBC 1). Different goals have been set for the science of
Artificial Intelligence, but according to Whitby the most mentioned idea about the goal of AI is
provided by the Turing Test. This test is also called the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, its simplicity is one of the things that have made the Turing Test resist time and history.
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Turing Test has had a rich history since its creation by Alan
Turing. But first of all, who was Alan Turing? As Whitby notes Alan Turing was a superb British
mathematician. During World War II Turing worked in secrecy for the British military to break the
German military codes together with some other scientists using some machines that had some
characteristics of the modern computers.(12) After the War, a machine was built in Manchester
from which all modern computers are descended .(12) In 1948, Alan Turing was writing programs
for this machine and was also writing the paper Computing machinery and intelligence , published
in 1950, from which the concept of the Turing Test was derived later on. (Whitby 13). An
important part of the test history are the occasions of computers being tested and whether or not
they passed the test. In the years following its creation and until our days, many computers have
taken the test. Turing made himself the prediction stated below: I believe that in about fifty years
time it will be possible to programme computers, with a storage capacity of about 109, to make
them play the imitation game so well that an average interrogator will not have more than 70 per
cent chance of making the right identification after five minutes of questioning.

How The Changes In Society After World War 2 And Its...
After World War Two Many societal changes took place throughout in Canada.
After World War Two a very large Baby Boom occurred that affected Canadian society in many
ways, such as the rise of teengars and their effect of becoming a huge demographic in society and
the economy.Suburbs were further developed and created more of a community setting. New
Along with closer knit communities, new technologies also made life in Post World War Two
Canadian society much easier. In order to understand the changes in Society following the second
World War, we must first investigate the role of baby boomers generation and teenager life as well
as suburb life and new technology.
After World War Two, most middle aged people had lived through two World Wars and a
Depression, With Soldiers returning home and some breathing room given for family life, the
baby boomer generation was created. During this Baby Boom 8.2 million babies were born,
which was a major population increase, that had some major effects on society and economy at
the time. Such a population increase, opened many doors in canadian society. Factories went from
making machine guns to baby carriages, beds and new cars along with this, new jobs such as
teachers, doctors became more available to support the the larger population. Along with these
changes came the rise of teenagers. Teenagers that grew up prior to World War Two were expected

Use of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos in a Vicks NyQuil Advertisement
Advertisements often employ many different methods of persuading a potential consumer. The vast
majority of persuasive methods can be classified into three modes. These modes are ethos, pathos,
and logos. Ethos makes an appeal of character or personality. Pathos makes an appeal to the
emotions. And logos appeals to reason or logic. This fascinating system of classification, first
invented by Aristotle, remains valid even today. Let s explore how this system can be applied to a
modern magazine advertisement.

The use of the ellipsis is also a nice touch, since it accentuated the use of the word medicine.
Equating it to medicine, as opposed to a treatment or tonic, makes the product seem more important.
On the other hand, if the ellipsis were taken away, then the meaning of the message may be
misinterpreted. The best sleep you ever got with a cold medicine. Without the ellipsis, a consumer
may inadvertently think of cold medicines as being detrimental towards sleep. The use of the
ellipsis makes the difference between good ethos and bad pathos.
NyQuil also helps protect its own ethos by not divulging too much information about the
weakness of the product. Everyone knows that there is no cure for the common cold. Therefore,
NyQuil cannot claim to actually cure a cold. But it would be an ill advised business decision to
emphasize the fact that the product cannot actually cure a cold. NyQuil makes the best of the
situation, by letting the consumer know that even though you may have a cold, by taking NyQuil
you will feel the best that you possibly can. NyQuil does its best to portray the best public image
possible, and PR is very important when it comes to business.
As far as pathos, most people know what it feels like to be sick with a cold. Once night comes,
they just want sleep, yet due to congestion and headaches, sleep doesn t come easy, and rarely feels
restful. The phrasing

Schizophrenia Final Cluster
How to diagnose friends and alienate people
Psychologists place personality disorders into three clusters. There is Cluster A which share
psychotic symptoms similar in Schizophrenia, these include: Paranoid, Schizoid and Schizotypal

Borderline, Histrionic and Narcissistic personality disorders. The final cluster includes Avoidant,
Dependent and Obsessive Compulsive personality disorders, which focus on factors similar in
anxiety disorders. Each of these cluster require a minimum amount of symptoms shown the

Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay
Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout
the years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments.
However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The
price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity
securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the
previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the
current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their
expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which
eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings
ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the
market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped
investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted
earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so
slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is most likely due to the
considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting Goods has been
managing their earnings per share through share buy backs which is

Lab Report On The 20 Wheat Seedlings
The 20 wheat seedlings was the sample size used in each of the five treatments, see Table 1.
Among those 10 unpaired t tests two out of the 10, Test 5 (Shoot length 1XCM vs 4XCM) and
Test 6 (Seedling biomass Water vs 1XCM) had actual p values greater than 0.05 (see Table 1). The
calculated t values for the previously mentioned two t tests were lower than the critical t value,
2.024 (see Table 1). For shoot length (cm), the trend shows mean shoot length to increase with
increasing concentration of nutrient treatment until 3XCM, where the mean and standard deviation
is at its greatest (xМ…= 27.945cmВ±5.605cm) and drops slightly at 4XCM (see Figure 1). The
pattern of the mean biomass (g), increases up to treatment 2XCM (xМ…=0.2275gВ±0.0488g) at
which mean values begin to decline a slight degree afterwards (see Figure 2).

Autoliv
Business Brief Abstract This business brief will discuss Autoliv, a Fortune 500 company who
manufactures automotive safety components (Krajewski, Ritzman, Malhotra, 2013). Autoliv has
over 80 plants in more than 32 countries, all of which run on a lean manufacturing system, which is
referred to as Autoliv Production System (APS) (Krajewski, Ritzman, Malhotra, 2013). Toyota
pioneered the principles that the APS is based on (Krajewski, Ritzman, Malhotra, 2013). Another A
lean system allows businesses to improve operations, by getting rid of the unwanted waste , such as
overproduction, transportation, waiting, motion, inventory, defects, etc (Krajewski, Ritzman,

Wisdom Tradition And The Old Testament Essay
Wisdom Tradition is a term applied to the Old Testament books of Proverbs, Job, Sirach, Wisdom
of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes. Wisdom Tradition books all share characteristics and points of view
that are somewhat different than other biblical books. Wisdom tradition has very prominent
characteristics from other books in the Old Testamentsuch as a search for the goal of life, how to
master it and questioning the problems of life, showing interest to human experiences that affect
all people, joy of creativity and creation, and very little interest in the great acts of divine
salvation. These qualities appear in a few books in the Old Testament. All of them show wisdom,
but only some show both wisdom and tradition. Books such as Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes values
the beauty of creation and the confidence of human life and nature. This was a new concept to
Israel. They learned about wisdom tradition through other nations. They were influenced from
Mesopotamian literature and took their ideas of meditations of sufferings and God s justice into
their Old Testament Books. Suffering can be seen in Job, but in the next essay and upcoming
classes, we will be relating this to women suffering. The wisdom perspectives did not replace the
other two major strands of thought in Ancient Israel, that of prophets and priests. It was simply a
different focus that was complementary with the other perspectives presented in the Bible. Wisdom
Tradition presents many themes and characteristics

Fluctuating Gas Prices Will Never End Essay
These days, gas prices seem to be a weekly topic on local and national news channels. Every time
there is some type of fluctuation, it causes an uproar, usually because it is a difference of ten cents
or greater. The reasons as to why is definitely a mystery with new myths popping up each day and
almost all the supposed reasons being incorrect. The real discussion should be not as to what
causes the price change but how it affects our everyday lives. Should we adjust our way of life to
accommodate less driving or have we already? In the U.S., we saw gas prices go as low as $1.75
and as high as $3.00 in 2005. In 2006, we saw almost the same trend with a low of $2.10 and so far
we have leveled out around $3.00 or so. While I can agree... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hurricane Katrina alone took out about 25 percent of U.S. crude oil production and about 15
percent of U.S. refinery capacity which caused quite an increase in manufacturing costs. The
largest factor that has had the most impact on the overall rise in gas price is the removal of
methyl tertiary butyl ether that started in 2003. Due to the threat of groundwater
contamination, the use of the gasoline additive MTBE has been in the process of being phased
out for several years. More than half of the States have already banned the use of MTBE and you
can clearly see its affect since gas prices started its biggest increase in the same year that
production had to change to accommodate the removal. Hybrid cars are now a fad to save the
environment and could be a way to cut down on usage. They use a battery to supplement some
power therefore using less gas. You could say this is the answer but in reality, while it does help
with emissions, which is a positive factor if you want to save some trees, cost wise, it s actually
worse. In a report released by Consumer Reports earlier this year, they showed that every single
hybrid model car that has ever been made is more expensive to own and operate that its non
hybrid counterpart. So while you save a few pennies on the gallon when you gas up, you spend
an average of two thousand to ten thousand more over a five year span to drive a hybrid and that s
after you calculate your gas savings. Therefore, hybrids are not

Early Ottoman Medicine
Early Ottoman Medicine ranged from the 16th century to the 18th century but unlike most
places of the time, its medicinal knowledge was not isolated. The Ottomans had a very diverse
body of knowledge and based their practices on ideas from all around the world. The knowledge
came from the traditions of medieval Islam and central Asia. They also collected information
from many sources such as Greek, Persian and Turkish books. When it came to immigrants,
Ottomans always had open arms. By doing this, they were able to collect information from
Iranian physicians and Jews who were running from persecution in countries such as Spain,
Portugal and Italy. The Ottomans collected information from all around the world, helping them
implement the most advanced and up to date practices. However, not all of their practices were
advanced. In early Ottoman medicine there was a wide range of medical practices ranging from
those deemed superstitious and supernatural to practices considered extremely advanced. Some
Ottoman physicians practiced advanced methods but they did not come from advanced beliefs.
The beliefs of Humoralism, one of the three types of medicine practiced at the time would today
be laughed at. Humoralists believed that the body was made up of four humors: blood, phlegm,
black bile and yellow bile. They believed that sickness would be caused by an imbalance of these
humors. To heal the sick person it was necessary to find what humor was imbalanced and return

Microfridge

Microfridge: The Concept
Introduction:
Robert Bennett, a 31 year old Master in Engineering, decided to quit his job and start a business
with his new concept of the Microfridge . This was a design that incorporated a refrigerator,
freezer and microwave into a single compact unit. He created a new electronic circuit in which the
refrigerator shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa.
Analysing the Microfridge:
This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a
refrigerator and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It
was a compact device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student
dorms and motel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would
need to target 120 colleges in a year.
Recommendation and Plan of Action:
To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and
using their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to
tap in the market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it
would create trust and generate a greater brand following and value.
Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion
strategy needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the
students to adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide
Microfridge as an amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should
send out sales persons to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness
of the Microfridge and its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the
administration was fire safety in student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these
norms by using hot plates needs to be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce
these risks can be brought home.
A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press.

The Fifth Season Sparknotes
Okay, so this is how this is going to work... The deep book review will be split into different
sections, one where I will dump a bunch of information about the storyline on the reader, another
where I will rant about what makes this book deep but not good, and, finally, another about the

Throughout the book, The Fifth Season changes from Syenite to Damaya to, finally, a character
referred to as you (as you might expect, all chapters written from you s perspective are written in

Syenite and Damaya start to appear, until, chapter seventeen, when it is revealed Damaya is just a

Father Earth lost his favorite child, so, in an attempt to appease Father Earth, some of the stone

Types Of Relationships Between Parents And Adolescents
Types of relationships. There are different types of relationships between adults and adolescents and
they all have different dynamics. Miller Day discussed four different types of relationships between
parents and adolescents. Although they were discussed as parent adolescent relationships, these
types of relationships can also exist between school counselors and adolescent students. Miller Day
described laissez faire, consensual, pluralistic, and protective relationships. These types of
relationships all differ in their combination of conversation orientation and conformity orientation.
Laissez faire relationships have low conversation and low conformity, consensual relationships have
high conversation and high conformity, pluralistic relationships have high conversation and low
conformity, and protective conversations have low conversation and high conformity (2008).
Awareness of the different types of relationships is important because it determines how an
adolescent receives a message from an adult. Conversation orientation refers to the amount of
discussion on a subject and the amount of individual input. Conformity orientation refers to the
amount of conformity required in a relationshipand often results in a because I said so type of

Garth Brooks Essay
Gath Brooks Troyal Garth Brooks (also know as Garth Brooks) is the world s greatest country
singer of all time. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 7, 1962. He was raised in the
small town of Yukon with country music in his blood. He was the youngest child in his family
that consisted of six children. His Mother, Colleen Carroll, was a Professional country singer
while she raised Garth and his five other siblings with her husband, Troyal Carroll. Troyal worked
as a engineer for Unocal, an oil company located outside of Oklahoma. (Book, garth brooks) He
played guitar and taught Garth how to play. Both of Garths parents were a huge part of making
him who he is today. Garth did things that Elvis, and Michael Jackson never even... Show more

He set out again to go to Nashville determining to stay. He sang a lot and worked in a boot shop
until he was signed with Capitol Records in 1988. In 1989, Brooks self titled was released and a
superstar emerged. Garth says I couldn t have done it with out my wife and both of my parents,
especially my mother. She made such a difference in my life, I am so grateful for her and her
always being there for me. All of Garths fans and the people who work with him say He would
never do anything to hurt anyone. He is always helping others and thinking about them. Garth is
not like most celebrates; he is really nice and doesn t try to be better then everyone. He sees
himself as a normal person and thinks everyone is the same. He tells Waddell, Our promoters
don t have any front row seats to give out. We ve never done an endorsement because of one
phrase in every contract; we need 20 of your best tickets every night. When you ve got 20 people
that would be somewhere else if they didn t have a free ticket, which sucks. We want everyone
to be there because they want to be there. We ve turned down $10 $20 million because of these.
Today Garth is the world best musician. He was sold more records then anyone else. He has sold
123 million albums in 2007, the recording industry named him the best selling solo artist of all
time in any genre. He retired in 2007 and was divorced and remarried to Trisha Yearwood

Retinal Disparity Lab Report
As human eyes are located at different lateral positions, there is a slight difference between
images projected to the retinas of the eyes. Due to the binocular vision of the observer, this
difference is mainly in the relative horizontal position of the objects being viewed (see Figure
2.11). This positional difference is called horizontal disparity or binocular disparity [38].
Binocular neurons in the visual cortex of the brainreceive the input signals from both eyes and
after integration provide stereopsis or perception of depth [39]. Depth perception has a positive
impact on performing practical tasks; for instance driving, stepping off a curb, pouring into a
container and even reaching out to shake someone s hand.

Therefore,thisabilityofthebrainininterpretingdisparateimages asbelongtooneobjectwithinpanum

classified as quantitative stereopsis or fine stereopsis. Furthermore, if an object is located at a
greater distance in front of or behind the horopter line in the outside of panum s fusional area, then
the images can no longer be merged together. In this case double vision or diplopia is produced
known as physiological diplopia. However, the human brain can unconsciously distinguish whether
the images are coming from the same objects or not. Then, based on the position of the images on
the two retinas, the visual cortex interprets the position of the object whether in front or behind the
horopter. This phenomenon is called qualitative stereopsis. This classification of stereopsis
creates an impression that the world is in layers of depth and a feeling of being immersed in
surrounding. Although qualitative stereopsis does not provide the exact location of the object as
well as quantitative stereopsis, it still provides an awareness of nearness and

Data Encryption Essay
ENCRYPTION Introduction Often there has been a need to protect information from prying eyes .
In the electronic age, information that could otherwise benefit or educate a group or individual can
also be used against such groups or individuals. Industrial espionage among highly competitive
businesses often requires that extensive security measures be put into place. And, those who wish
to exercise their personal freedom, outside of the oppressive nature of governments, may also wish
to encrypt certain information to avoid suffering the penalties of going against the wishes of those
who attempt to control. Still, the methods of data encryption and decryption are relatively
straightforward, and easily mastered. I have been doing data... Show more content on

But, by the use of more than one translation table, especially when implemented in a pseudo
random order, this adaptation makes code breaking relatively difficult. An example of this
method might use translation table A on all of the even bytes, and translation table B on all of
the odd bytes. Unless a potential code breaker knows that there are exactly 2 tables, even with
both source and encrypted data available the deciphering process is relatively difficult. Similar to
using a translation table, data repositioning lends itself to use by a computer, but takes
considerably more time to accomplish. A buffer of data is read from the input, then the order of
the bytes (or other chunk size) is rearranged, and written out of order . The decryption program
then reads this back in, and puts them back in order . Often such a method is best used in
combination with one or more of the other encryption methods mentioned here, making it even
more difficult for code breakers to determine how to decipher your encrypted data. As an example,
consider an anagram. The letters are all there, but the order has been changed. Some anagrams are
easier than others to decipher, but a well written anagram is a brain teaser nonetheless, especially if
it s intentionally misleading. My favorite methods, however, involve something that only computers
can do: word/byte rotation and XOR bit masking. If you

Reverend Hale is Not Guilty
There are usually at least a few instances when a person gets wrongfully accused of something
they did not do, whether it would be taking the last cookie out of the jar, picking their nose, or
even something to the extremity of taking someone s life. A tragic, real life example of this is
when Michael Morton got sentenced to life in prison when he was falsely accused of murdering
his wife. Twenty five years later, he was eventually exonerated from prison by the use of DNA
evidence. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, while the witch trials were underway, situations like
this were common occurrences. The play which took place in Salem, Massachusetts, was
centered around many innocent people getting framed for witchcraft by licentious people who
wanted to place blame on them due to jealousy or hatred for the sole purpose of revenge. The
rumors quickly spreading through the town caused hysteria, defined by people behaving in an
uncontrolled way due to fear or anger, eventually leading to nineteen righteous people being
hung. Reverend Hale, a supposed expert on witchcraft was one of the main people to blame for
the witch trials according to the vast majority of readers. Despite that, his probity becomes clearer
and clearer when scrutinizing the text for its true meaning. After all, he was not responsible for the
spread of the rumors about witchcraft, he began to realize the flaws in the Salem witch trials as the
story progressed, and he tried to compel everyone condemned to death

The On The Border With Syria
Yes. His only response left him drifting back, across the years.
We were being sent to Antakya Turkey. From there we were to move on towards Reyhanli on the
border with Syria. The mission was to look into the local smuggling activity.
Reyhanli had been a hotbed of activity. We were to take prisoners and glean what information we
could. Naturally, I wanted to know who the enemy was. The General s reply was simple.
Everybody.
There had been Russian airstrikes against Syrian rebel positions in Turkey. Backed by the toughest
fighters from Lebanon s Hezbollah guerrilla army and combat advisers from Iran s Г©lite
Revolutionary Guard, the militias, and ISIS, they were all active in Turkey.
The smuggling activity was mostly oil from ISIS, for the Turkish government. We shoved off at
2030 hours. On arrival, we repelled in from a chopper.
With us was a cherry. A first timer. Initially, it seemed that all he offered the unit was his ability to
speak fluent Kurdish. It s the second major language of the country.
On the ground, we found suitable spots for camouflaged firing positions. We positioned ourselves
in the trees across the Orontes River from Antakya. With our binoculars, we could see people
entering and leaving the city. From there we had command and control of the river traffic.
Morning light brought our first actionable report. Down the river floated, blue plastic Jerry cans
lashed together. The first estimate placed the count at close to one hundred.

My Experience At The Art Classroom
The clichГ© and overused posters at the back caught my attention as soon as I entered the art
classroom, making me look at the art teacher in disappointment. My young art teacher walked to
her seat at the front right corner wearing glasses that made her look sixty. The tables in the art
room stood in a u shape, which supposedly made us students more social and creative . The white
board in the front of the room filled with scribbles of drawings used for other classes. I could
smell the vanilla scented candle in the air that the teacher kept at all times on her desk. I walked to
my assigned seatat the front right corner where I saw my friend, Michayla, flash me a smile. All
the other seats and desks empty. I came early.
As soon as I sat at my desk, my friend started gushing about how amazing her weekend was.
Everything she said I, admittedly, ignored. I thought about the quote I read in my favorite book
before I came to class. Whatever you are physically...strong or weak, ill or healthy all those things
matter less than what your heart contains. All those other things, they are the glass that contains
the lamp, but you are the light inside. I shook my head, diverting my attention to the long pointy
needles and black papers that our art teacher put on the center of the table, and took one of the
pointy needles. I touched the sharp part of it as I leaned back onto my chair, still ignoring my
friend. Ouch! I accidentally pinched my index finger with the needle. I sucked on my

Rosalind Franklin Contributions
You look at science (or at least talk of it) as some sort of demoralizing invention of man,
something apart from real life, and which must be cautiously guarded and kept separate from
everyday existence. But science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Said
Rosalind Franklin, one of the greatest female scientists, in a letter to her father. Franklin is
saying that science should not be interfered by human civilization, but human civilization needs
and relies on science. This is significant because Franklin discovered so much for the human race
through science, hence what she said, science and everyday life cannot and should not be
separated. Though many might not recognize her name, Rosalind Franklin changed the world of
biology forever. Born on July 25, 1920 in Notting Hill, London, to a family that was jewish, but
she believed in no such thing. Rosalind Franklin was a very intelligent child; she excelled in
school always ahed of where she was supposed to be. By the time Franklin was fifteen she already
knew she wanted to be a scientist. She was taught at North London Collegiate school and went to
college at Newnham Collage where she studied chemistry. Moving on, Rosalind Franklin, was best
know for discovering the structure of DNA, but what most do not know she was did much more.
For example, she studied coal utilization, and x ray diffraction. She actually was the teacher and
mentor for Raymond Gosling who created the first visible x ray photo. With

Connections Between The Stranger And Cool Hand Luke
Oftentimes when I get asked who s my most favored character is in a movie or TV show, it is
usually the hero and not necessarily the darker characters. In The Stranger and Cool Hand Luke ,
there are both messianic roles that are connected with their main characters. In both the novel and
the movie, symbolism of Christ is one of the main relations that connect these stories together. In
the movie Cool Hand Luke , the main characterLuke is the messianic archetype throughout the
whole movie. His name is related to the apostle Luke in the bible. Not everything Luke says is
related to the bible or Jesus, but his actions are is what s more connected to Christ. In the movie,
the Boss Godfrey was known as the man with no eyes by all of

  • 2. How Can Freedom Be Demanded Freedom should be demanded, because not everyone listens when you ask for something, if anything people would laugh at these people who want freedom and not take them seriously when they do ask for freedom. If people take a stand and demand what they really want and show they want it and fight for it there would be people standing up with that one person too, then there would be an uprising on how people needfreedom and demand it even more. A great example would be the the day Martin Luther King Jr. took a stand and said his word on how there needs to be freedom and how it must be demanded in order for us to get it, the day the pastor took a stand and demanded freedom for his people (blacks) and as he kept saying his word and talking about freedom for the blacks more and more people agreed with him and took a stand. It is a great example of how freedom should be demanded and not given. The reason people would laugh at the people asking for freedom and not take them seriously is because these people would be in a higher class than others and laugh at the people who want the same amount as the these people, they think that they are better than any one of of these people. They think ... • 3. The Worst Things Going On Today Americ The Education Gap... Cynthia Chambless, a lecturer professor at Bergen Community College, is discussing one of the worst things going on in Modern America: The Education Gap. As much as we like to believe that our current education system is the same everywhere and any student can succeed anywhere, unfortunately, the quality of educationdiffers from each district. Cynthia has found that many students have learned more and better than other students based on how high their social classis. In fact, students from poorer neighborhoods can t even write properly. This has led to students from poorer neighborhoods not being as prepared for collegeas students from more upper class neighborhoods. The further we ignore this issue, the more people are set back from getting their degree and accomplishing their goals. Students need the latest resources to be successful in college and in life. Thus, The Education Gap between the rich and the poor can be solved with more funding to community schools in poor neighborhoods by the government because low funding is the primal reason for students being so far behind compared to their higher social class peers. Eduardo Porter said, despite the efforts deployed by the American public education system, nine years later the achievement gap, on average, will have widened by somewhere from one half to two thirds. (Eduardo 2015). If we don t stop this issue, the system will only get worse. Meaning, more students will be behind and not getting the right education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The king has been raising taxes and taking the money for himself. His greediness is what makes it so important for me to come here and hear about your government. It s about time someone started looking out for us, for once! But I ll stop my complaining. I came here to learn about Athens. Davos: And learn you shall! I m Davos, nice to meat you. Tacitus: A vote ? Interesting... So how exactly would a citizen vote ? Davos: Usually, citizens who show up to the assembly can vote by putting a colored rock into a pot. White corresponds with yes, while the black means no, creating a private voting environment. After everyone has voted, the different colors of rocks are counted, the results are tallied, and the final decision is announced. Tacitus: OK, I think I understand this whole democracy thing now. It sure seems better that having a king! Why shouldn t I get a say in the fate of my city state? Agathon: You should! And hopefully soon, you will. • 5. Essay On Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) In Canada INTRODUCTION The debate over implementing an unconditional basic income (UBI) in Canada is one currently being discussed and which splits political parties support. This paper will make the case that a guaranteed annual income would be beneficial for Canadian citizens, encouraging freedom of opportunity for every person, regardless of their financial status. In addition, it will look at how different ideological affiliations affect one s opinion on the subject. The concept has been tried previously in Canada, namely in Dauphin, Manitoba in the late 1970s as an experiment aimed to observe the economic response of a negative incometax(Simpson, Mason, and Godwin 2017, 85). Recently, the announcement that Ontario will introduce a similar pilot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One reason for this is because many people view the oil fields to be assets owned by individual citizens and not the government; therefore what they do with their dividend is their own private matter. Secondly, politicians fear any close inspection of the fund s economic effects will stir up suspicions that they may be planning a change in the future (Goldsmith 2004, 555). Informal attempts to learn about citizens spending habits after receiving the cheque show that the money is often used shortly after distribution. Many economists believe that the income is often spent on consumer durable goods, a reasonable assumption considering it is received before the Christmas shopping season. These spending patterns would provide increased jobs in trade and service sectors of the economy (Goldsmith 2004, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. We Must Spend Our Days One week a summer, for as long as I can remember, I wave goodbye to my mom through the car window at six in the morning. I am inside my family s Subaru Outback along with my dad, little brother, little sister, and a trunk full of camping gear packed so methodically that there is a six inch square of sight out the rear window. After a five hour drive we will be transported from the neat suburbs of Long Island to the forests of the Adirondack Mountains, where we will be greeted by my Aunt Carol and her dog Baxter. For this week we will sleep in a lean to looking out onto Taylor Pond at our favorite campsite, I 3. We will spend our days in the pond and our nights around a fire. Our car and cell phones will be a five mile canoe ride away, just far enough that we may actually escape their omnipresence for a while. Although we may return home with clothes reeking of smoke and bodies covered in mosquito bites, our trip to this other world will have been well worth it. On Taylor Pond our isolation from society cannot be confused with actually being alone. We have loons, deer, eagles, frogs, and the occasional howling coyotes to keep us company. The loons are normally the first to greet us, after we ve loaded the canoes and commenced our five mile paddle down the pond. Their signature sleek black heads can be tricky to spot as they are bobbing on the water one second, and are 200 feet under the surface the next. There are key attributes that separate Benihana from other restaurants. One is true Japanese authenticity. Besides being profitable, we can measure Benihana s success by customer satisfaction. According to exhibit 4, over 46% of customers come to Benihana for good food, with 13% for atmosphere and food preparation. Over 77% of customers rate food as being excellent and 71% rate service to be excellent. There are certain areas of operational improvement that can make Benihana even more successful. As atmosphere / ambiance are only a small portion of why people come to eat at Benihana, I don t think that Americans really appreciate that every item at the restaurant is imported from Japan. Benihana should use locally available materials and carpenters. By doing so, Benihana can dramatically reduce its cost to of setup and will allow for faster expansion. The cost factor is one of the major concerns for Benihana s growth. Each new unit costs $300,000. In order to reduce the startup cost, Benihana must find revisit its operating model and re evaluate what is the most important to the customers. Looking back at exhibit 4, majority of respondents valued quality and taste of the food, service and preparation of food. These are the qualities that truly separate Benihana from other restaurants. Changing Benihana s staffing model, including training, and the use of materials and labor from Japan, will most certainly minimize new unit cost. 3. Prepare an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leaders will usually help direct others to become successful. Individuals usually choose their leader, whether it s a good decision or not, each person chooses who they follow. They will judge by behavior, attitude and actions. Qualities of a positive leader are shown in their actions and words. Most often, positive leaders are always striving for the best and won t settle for less out of others that may be on their team. Spanking is controversial because it can be viewed as corporal punishment that can have a negative affect on children. Others believe that it is a moral act to use with no detrimental effects. Spankingis sometimes considered corporal punishmentand is used to alter an undesirable behavior without physically injuring the child. There is a fine line between this corporal punishment and abuse. Spanking can be defined as many things but if it doesn t injure the child, is used as correction and used on the buttocks, it is not considered abuse. Children are reported to have shown greater externalization at age three when spanked at age one; in return, externalization problems at age three along with spanking resulted in greater internalization problems at age five. • 12. Children at Play Children At Play: Actual vs. Dramatic One of the signs of early childhood development is the ability to engage in play. Young children (ages 4 6) prefer non structured environments that gives them the freedom to un limit their play in different settings. Working with preschoolers for over five years, I am fascinated to learn all the different ways children playto learn. I understand every childhas their unique talents and skills that makes them individuals. It is important to sketch out different play strategies for children and their desired interests. The goal is to answer the question: what way do children learn the best; actual or dramatic. As a teacher and a researcher I define play as actual play and dramatic play.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This play is about three billy goats who travel past a bridge. Under that bridge lives two monsters who want to eat the goats. The point of the play is to get the five participants in character. For example participant A who played the part of one of the monsters had to shout and yell to act as a monster, participant B who played the part of one of the goats had to shout and yell to defend her self from the monster. I realized this type of activity is a great tool for children to let aggression and tension exit their mind and bodies. As Shallat puts it, The moral or message that the author hopes to be derived from this dramatic piece is that the suppression of discomforting feelings leads to additional, undesirable feelings and/or consequences. (Shallat, 2003) It is important for children that are at a high risk for disturbed behavior to engage in dramatic play to let out negative energy. Suppressing one s feelings from an early age is a sign of heightened mental burden for later years. Shallat also analyzes that, [...] actors and clinicians/play directors are encouraged to create their own masks and costumes, providing additional room for creative expression (Shallat, 2003) As a teacher I find this to be quite intriguing. I realize it is important for children to engage in dramatic play especially if it highlights creativity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bulk of waste tyres are disposed in landfills, ensuing in a sort of troubles such as taking up huge quantity of more and more precious landfill space and unintentional fires resulting in highly toxic emissions such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO) and hazardous polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) [2 4]. A variety of strategies have been planned as choices to waste tyre managing, all planning at tyre reprocess. Waste tyres can regrettably not be recycled in traditional ways such as glass, metal or plastic by thaw out to attain raw material for new products. This is as a consequence of the compound nature of tyres, which consist of steel, rubber, carbon black, ash, fillers, etc. [5]. One more snag is that the polymers in the tyres are cross linked, and these bonds cannot be chemically broken down simply [6]. Pyrolysis is distinct as the method by which materials are thermally degraded by subjection to high temperature in the lack of oxygen [7]. The pyrolysis process is effectual in the recycling of waste materials, counting waste tyres, and thus contributes to decrease the ecological impact of waste tyres [8]. The pyrolysis process yields three main products i.e., a gas, liquid and solid [9]. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Turing Test One of the hottest topics that modern science has been focusing on for a long time is the field of artificial intelligence, the study of intelligence in machines or, according to Minsky, the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men .(qtd in Copeland 1). Artificial Intelligence has a lot of applications and is used in many areas. We often don t notice it but AI is all around us. It is present in computer games, in the cruise control in our cars and the servers that route our email. (BBC 1). In fact, its simplicity is one of the things that have made the Turing Test resist time and history. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Turing Test has had a rich history since its creation by Alan Turing. But first of all, who was Alan Turing? As Whitby notes Alan Turing was a superb British mathematician. During World War II Turing worked in secrecy for the British military to break the German military codes together with some other scientists using some machines that had some characteristics of the modern computers.(12) After the War, a machine was built in Manchester from which all modern computers are descended .(12) In 1948, Alan Turing was writing programs for this machine and was also writing the paper Computing machinery and intelligence , published in 1950, from which the concept of the Turing Test was derived later on. (Whitby 13). An important part of the test history are the occasions of computers being tested and whether or not they passed the test. Use of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos in a Vicks NyQuil Advertisement Advertisements often employ many different methods of persuading a potential consumer. The vast majority of persuasive methods can be classified into three modes. These modes are ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos makes an appeal of character or personality. Pathos makes an appeal to the emotions. And logos appeals to reason or logic. This fascinating system of classification, first invented by Aristotle, remains valid even today. Without the ellipsis, a consumer may inadvertently think of cold medicines as being detrimental towards sleep. The use of the ellipsis makes the difference between good ethos and bad pathos. NyQuil also helps protect its own ethos by not divulging too much information about the weakness of the product. Everyone knows that there is no cure for the common cold. Therefore, NyQuil cannot claim to actually cure a cold. But it would be an ill advised business decision to emphasize the fact that the product cannot actually cure a cold. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments. However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so slightly in the current year. • 23. Wisdom Tradition And The Old Testament Essay Wisdom Tradition is a term applied to the Old Testament books of Proverbs, Job, Sirach, Wisdom of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes. Wisdom Tradition books all share characteristics and points of view that are somewhat different than other biblical books. Wisdom tradition has very prominent characteristics from other books in the Old Testamentsuch as a search for the goal of life, how to master it and questioning the problems of life, showing interest to human experiences that affect all people, joy of creativity and creation, and very little interest in the great acts of divine salvation. These qualities appear in a few books in the Old Testament. All of them show wisdom, but only some show both wisdom and tradition. Books such as Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes values the beauty of creation and the confidence of human life and nature. This was a new concept to Israel. They learned about wisdom tradition through other nations. They were influenced from Mesopotamian literature and took their ideas of meditations of sufferings and God s justice into their Old Testament Books. Suffering can be seen in Job, but in the next essay and upcoming classes, we will be relating this to women suffering. In the U.S., we saw gas prices go as low as $1.75 and as high as $3.00 in 2005. In 2006, we saw almost the same trend with a low of $2.10 and so far we have leveled out around $3.00 or so. Hurricane Katrina alone took out about 25 percent of U.S. crude oil production and about 15 percent of U.S. refinery capacity which caused quite an increase in manufacturing costs. The largest factor that has had the most impact on the overall rise in gas price is the removal of methyl tertiary butyl ether that started in 2003. Due to the threat of groundwater contamination, the use of the gasoline additive MTBE has been in the process of being phased out for several years. More than half of the States have already banned the use of MTBE and you can clearly see its affect since gas prices started its biggest increase in the same year that production had to change to accommodate the removal. Hybrid cars are now a fad to save the environment and could be a way to cut down on usage. They use a battery to supplement some power therefore using less gas. You could say this is the answer but in reality, while it does help with emissions, which is a positive factor if you want to save some trees, cost wise, it s actually worse. In a report released by Consumer Reports earlier this year, they showed that every single hybrid model car that has ever been made is more expensive to own and operate that its non hybrid counterpart. He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa. Analysing the Microfridge: This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to target 120 colleges in a year. This would also help to tap in the market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create trust and generate a greater brand following and value. Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to be highlighted. These kyЕ«bi no kitsune (д№ќе°ѕгЃ®з‹ђ, nine tailed foxes) gain the abilities to see and hear anything happening anywhere in the world. Other tales attribute them infinite wisdom (Omniscence). There are thirteen different kinds of Kitsune, each with a corresponding element, listed as follows: Heaven (or Celestial or Prime), Void (or Dark), Wind, Spirit, Fire, Earth, River, Ocean, Mountain, Forest, Thunder, Time and Sound. One of the most important things to a Kitsune is freedom. They do not fare well to being locked away, and do not like to be forced to do something they don t want to. Doing something like that would be likely to get you killed if they are freed. Kitsune love playing tricks. • 36. THE BATTLE OF GUADALCANAL Essay Introduction The Battle of Guadalcanal was a very important battleground that ended the Japanese ground advancement in the Pacific area of operations. Also, after they were defeated and removed from the island it showed that they were not an unstoppable foe that resulted in boasting the confidence of the United States and its allies. The amphibious assault that occurred on Guadalcanal was the first amphibious counteroffensive for the United States after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese were attempting to build an airfield on the island and gain a foothold that would help to protect their flanks as they continued their offensive campaign through the Pacific. It was also believed that if the Japanese were able to complete this airfield that it would be too advantageous for them and would also aid in invading Port Moresby on the Western coast of New Guinea. Planning and Preparation In the initial planning there were many debates on who would command the assault on Guadalcanal. General Douglas MacArthur was the Commander of the Southwest Pacific Forces and was originally thought of to command the assault. However the Navy expressed numerous concerns that MacArthur would possibly leave their carriers exposed and the result placed Admiral Chester Nimitz as the overall Commander. The mission was tasked to the 1st marine division out of North Carolina that was commanded by Major General Alexander Vandegrift. General Vandegrift received his orders to perform the amphibious assault on Guadalcanal on the 25th of June 1942. Immediately General Vandegrift realized many problems he would have to overcome. Originally he had not planned on deploying his unit into combat until the beginning of 1943. His unit was newly formed and spread between three different locations. To make matters worse the majority of his men had little to no combat experience. The majority of the equipment they possessed was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Types Of Relationships Between Parents And Adolescents Types of relationships. There are different types of relationships between adults and adolescents and they all have different dynamics. Miller Day discussed four different types of relationships between parents and adolescents. Although they were discussed as parent adolescent relationships, these types of relationships can also exist between school counselors and adolescent students. Miller Day described laissez faire, consensual, pluralistic, and protective relationships. These types of relationships all differ in their combination of conversation orientation and conformity orientation. Laissez faire relationships have low conversation and low conformity, consensual relationships have high conversation and high conformity, pluralistic relationships have high conversation and low conformity, and protective conversations have low conversation and high conformity (2008). Awareness of the different types of relationships is important because it determines how an adolescent receives a message from an adult. Conversation orientation refers to the amount of discussion on a subject and the amount of individual input. Conformity orientation refers to the amount of conformity required in a relationshipand often results in a because I said so type of attitude. The way a decision is come to the message of an expectation is relayed will affect the feelings that come from it. View of relationship. • 39. Retinal Disparity Lab Report As human eyes are located at diп¬Ђerent lateral positions, there is a slight diп¬Ђerence between images projected to the retinas of the eyes. Due to the binocular vision of the observer, this diп¬Ђerence is mainly in the relative horizontal position of the objects being viewed (see Figure 2.11). This positional diп¬Ђerence is called horizontal disparity or binocular disparity [38]. Binocular neurons in the visual cortex of the brainreceive the input signals from both eyes and after integration provide stereopsis or perception of depth [39]. Depth perception has a positive impact on performing practical tasks; for instance driving, stepping oп¬Ђ a curb, pouring into a container and even reaching out to shake someone s hand. Furthermore, if an object is located at a greater distance in front of or behind the horopter line in the outside of panum s fusional area, then the images can no longer be merged together. In this case double vision or diplopia is produced known as physiological diplopia. However, the human brain can unconsciously distinguish whether the images are coming from the same objects or not. Then, based on the position of the images on the two retinas, the visual cortex interprets the position of the object whether in front or behind the horopter. This phenomenon is called qualitative stereopsis. This classiп¬Ѓcation of stereopsis creates an impression that the world is in layers of depth and a feeling of being immersed in surrounding. Although qualitative stereopsis does not provide the exact location of the object as well as quantitative stereopsis, it still provides an awareness of nearness and ... • 40. Data Encryption Essay ENCRYPTION Introduction Often there has been a need to protect information from prying eyes . In the electronic age, information that could otherwise benefit or educate a group or individual can also be used against such groups or individuals. Industrial espionage among highly competitive businesses often requires that extensive security measures be put into place. And, those who wish to exercise their personal freedom, outside of the oppressive nature of governments, may also wish to encrypt certain information to avoid suffering the penalties of going against the wishes of those who attempt to control. Still, the methods of data encryption and decryption are relatively straightforward, and easily mastered. I have been doing data... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, by the use of more than one translation table, especially when implemented in a pseudo random order, this adaptation makes code breaking relatively difficult. An example of this method might use translation table A on all of the even bytes, and translation table B on all of the odd bytes. Unless a potential code breaker knows that there are exactly 2 tables, even with both source and encrypted data available the deciphering process is relatively difficult. Similar to using a translation table, data repositioning lends itself to use by a computer, but takes considerably more time to accomplish. A buffer of data is read from the input, then the order of the bytes (or other chunk size) is rearranged, and written out of order . The decryption program then reads this back in, and puts them back in order . Often such a method is best used in combination with one or more of the other encryption methods mentioned here, making it even more difficult for code breakers to determine how to decipher your encrypted data. As an example, consider an anagram. The letters are all there, but the order has been changed. Some anagrams are easier than others to decipher, but a well written anagram is a brain teaser nonetheless, especially if it s intentionally misleading. My favorite methods, however, involve something that only computers can do: word/byte rotation and XOR bit masking. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Reverend Hale is Not Guilty There are usually at least a few instances when a person gets wrongfully accused of something they did not do, whether it would be taking the last cookie out of the jar, picking their nose, or even something to the extremity of taking someone s life. A tragic, real life example of this is when Michael Morton got sentenced to life in prison when he was falsely accused of murdering his wife. Twenty five years later, he was eventually exonerated from prison by the use of DNA evidence. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, while the witch trials were underway, situations like this were common occurrences. The play which took place in Salem, Massachusetts, was centered around many innocent people getting framed for witchcraft by licentious people who wanted to place blame on them due to jealousy or hatred for the sole purpose of revenge. The rumors quickly spreading through the town caused hysteria, defined by people behaving in an uncontrolled way due to fear or anger, eventually leading to nineteen righteous people being hung. Reverend Hale, a supposed expert on witchcraft was one of the main people to blame for the witch trials according to the vast majority of readers. Despite that, his probity becomes clearer and clearer when scrutinizing the text for its true meaning. After all, he was not responsible for the spread of the rumors about witchcraft, he began to realize the flaws in the Salem witch trials as the story progressed, and he tried to compel everyone condemned to death ... From there we were to move on towards Reyhanli on the border with Syria. The mission was to look into the local smuggling activity. Reyhanli had been a hotbed of activity. We were to take prisoners and glean what information we could. Naturally, I wanted to know who the enemy was. The General s reply was simple. Everybody. There had been Russian airstrikes against Syrian rebel positions in Turkey. Backed by the toughest fighters from Lebanon s Hezbollah guerrilla army and combat advisers from Iran s Г©lite Revolutionary Guard, the militias, and ISIS, they were all active in Turkey. The smuggling activity was mostly oil from ISIS, for the Turkish government. We shoved off at 2030 hours. On arrival, we repelled in from a chopper. With us was a cherry. A first timer. My Experience At The Art Classroom The clichГ© and overused posters at the back caught my attention as soon as I entered the art classroom, making me look at the art teacher in disappointment. My young art teacher walked to her seat at the front right corner wearing glasses that made her look sixty. The tables in the art room stood in a u shape, which supposedly made us students more social and creative . The white board in the front of the room filled with scribbles of drawings used for other classes. I could smell the vanilla scented candle in the air that the teacher kept at all times on her desk. I walked to my assigned seatat the front right corner where I saw my friend, Michayla, flash me a smile. All the other seats and desks empty. I came early. As soon as I sat at my desk, my friend started gushing about how amazing her weekend was. Everything she said I, admittedly, ignored. I thought about the quote I read in my favorite book before I came to class. Whatever you are physically...strong or weak, ill or healthy all those things matter less than what your heart contains. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside. I shook my head, diverting my attention to the long pointy needles and black papers that our art teacher put on the center of the table, and took one of the pointy needles. I touched the sharp part of it as I leaned back onto my chair, still ignoring my friend. Ouch! I accidentally pinched my index finger with the needle. I sucked on my ... • 46. Rosalind Franklin Contributions You look at science (or at least talk of it) as some sort of demoralizing invention of man, something apart from real life, and which must be cautiously guarded and kept separate from everyday existence. But science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Said Rosalind Franklin, one of the greatest female scientists, in a letter to her father. Franklin is saying that science should not be interfered by human civilization, but human civilization needs and relies on science. This is significant because Franklin discovered so much for the human race through science, hence what she said, science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Though many might not recognize her name, Rosalind Franklin changed the world of biology forever. Born on July 25, 1920 in Notting Hill, London, to a family that was jewish, but she believed in no such thing. Rosalind Franklin was a very intelligent child; she excelled in school always ahed of where she was supposed to be. By the time Franklin was fifteen she already knew she wanted to be a scientist. She was taught at North London Collegiate school and went to college at Newnham Collage where she studied chemistry. Moving on, Rosalind Franklin, was best know for discovering the structure of DNA, but what most do not know she was did much more. For example, she studied coal utilization, and x ray diffraction. She actually was the teacher and mentor for Raymond Gosling who created the first visible x ray photo. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
