Global Economic Conditions and Market Analysis
Global economic conditions The global economic conditions have a direct bearing on the local
economic condition within the nation. This means that the product (SOC) has also be greatly affected
in terms of demand and distribution. The global economic growth has been noted to have slowed
down over 2012 and this trend is expected to be sustained over the next two years. This means there
will be a downgrade to the earlier projected growth rate, though there still will be a growth rate, albeit
at a lower pace than was hitherto foreseen. The UN Department of Economic and Social affairs (2013)
forecasts a 2.4% global growth in 2013 and a further 3.2% global growth in 2014. This means that the
recovery from the job loss that was triggered in 2008 recession takes longer. What this means for the
local microeconomic situation in the country is that more people prioritize the essential and basic
goods first and considering the daily consumption supply as a priority. This negatively impacts on my
business since the cards that are exchanged globally, particularly during the special seasons and
occasions are often considered secondary needs hence one would get into buying on either online or
physically, if and when they shall have fulfilled their primary needs.
Local economy s stage in the business cycle The local economic status is more promising than the
external markets for my products. The IMF has pinned the current economic condition at a better
standing than it was in the

The Murder And Robbery Of A Teenage Girl By Six African...
On June 15th, 1920, three innocent men were beaten and lynched in Duluth, Minnesota. The alleged
rape and robbery of a teenage girl by six African American men, led a mob of protesters to kidnap
three of the men and punish them without trial . Durring this time, racial tensions were at an all time
high in Duluth . The Duluth lynchings were met with different reactions, and in many ways it sparked
a change in the United States. Events such as this one often go unremembered due to their troubling
nature, but these events are educational and necessary to learn while investigating Minnesota history.
The background, legal action, and after math of it all show how Minnesota, and the country as a whole
reacted to this event . While some Local Duluth newspaper responded in favor of the mob, the
majority of National newspapers condemned the mob for their heinous crimes. Opposite reactions
from multiple news reports shows how divided our country was about civil rights at the time, and how
controversial the topic was . A call to action was needed. The Duluth lychings affected the nation by
showing how controversial civil rights was at this time, and influencing the creation of new programs
and laws to protect the rights of African Americans in our country. The 1920 s presented many
hardships for the small black community the resided in Duluth. Racial tensions in the city, as well as
all over the country, were high during this period . Duluth s population grew due to the harbor and

Police Enforcement And Community Policing
According to COPS and the U.S. Department of Justice, community policing begins with a
commitment to building trust and respect between police and communities. Many police department
and citizens within the communities collaborate and they more effectively address underlying issues,
change negative behavioral patterns, and allocate resources.
Bureau of Justice Statistics defines community policing as, A philosophy that promotes organizational
strategies, which support the systematic use of partnerships and problem solving techniques between
the police and the community. These situations address the immediate conditions that give rise to
public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.
Some states also get grants to hire community policing professionals that develop nineteenth century
in the United States and England; the police have struggled with balancing the need to be efficient and
effective, while also being lawful (Walker 1994).
Police practice is indeed rooted in Western political philosophy, which emphasizes equity, fairness,
and justice (Critchley, 1967).
In 1974 the Kansas City Patrol Experiment demonstrated that increasing routine preventive patrol and
police response time had a very limited impact on reducing crime levels, allaying citizens fear of
crime, and increasing community satisfaction with police service community (Chaiken, Greenwood,
and Petersilia).
The elements of community policing, such as improvements in

The Importance Of The Conversion Of Lower Energy Light
Upconversion is a term that characterizes the conversion of lower energy light, particularly in the near
infrared region, into higher energy light within the visible spectrum. This occurs through a process in
which the sequential absorption of multi photon near infrared light yields the emission of light that is
of shorter wavelength[1]. This process is represented in Figure 1, which shows the emissions of light
within the visible spectrum after excitation of various dopant ions by near infrared light[1]. The
upconversion effect has been observed primarily in the rare earth metals of the lanthanides as well as
yttrium, and scandium; however, some transition metals and actinides can also display this effect[2].
Lanthanide ions display special inner shell arrangements of 4fn 5d0 1, which allow for unique energy
levels and provide shielding from the outer shells[2]. Due to their various f orbital configurations,
lanthanide ions are able to display very sharp luminescence emissions via intra 4f or 4f 4d
transitions[2,3]. The importance of the lanthanide ions is evident in several applications including
applications in lasers, bioprobe applications, optical imaging, and photodynamic therapy [2,3]. This is
due to their fluorescent properties, which include: resistance to photobleaching, monochromaticity,
large Stokes shifts, narrow bandwidth, and long emission lifetime[2,3]. The direct excitation of the
lanthanide ions is not very effective because they are limited by low

Charlotte was supposed to host the All Star Game during the 2017 season, but limitations on the
bathroom rights for transgender individuals caused the league to move the game to New Orleans.
While Silver would love to host the game in Charlotte, he does not plan on having the game playing in
North Carolina until this law is repealed. Silver also discussed travel bans created by President Trump,
as the NBA contains many international players. This article relates to the Invisible Man because it
discusses looking past differences to create unity. A major theme of Invisible Man is individuality and
being the unique individual a person is. An example of this is shown when the narrator eats yams, as
he does not allow society and its views of him eating yams to impact his decisions. Likewise, the NBA
looks for individuality and uniqueness from fans of the league and players in the league. Likewise,
Commissioner Silver s discussion of returning to Charlotte reflects the change in a society s views,
which is similar to the change in society the narrator is hoping

ABSTRACT There are no rules for revolution any more than there are rules for love or rules for
happiness, but there are rules for radicals who want to change their world ............ Saul D. Alinsky,

Consequently, in the professional literature, there is a wide gap to be filled in the need for a critical
perspective within the profession. We feel that the important contributions made by outside groups
Gay liberation, the women s movement, mental patients union, trade unions and tenants associations
reflect lack of confidence in social workers, usually with good reasons. It is not intended to
demoralize those social workers who are themselves conditioned and controlled by the very
institutional structures, in which they work, but to make them aware of contradictions, and to assist
them to develop critical action.
Social Action as a Method of Social Work:
A strategy to obtain limited social change at the intermediate or macro levels of society which is
generally used in non consensus situation and employs both norm adhering and norm testing modes of
intervention. Three concepts are fundamental to this definition: the scope of change, the use of power
in effecting and resisting change, and the change strategies employed (By S.K.Khinduka and Bernard
J. Coughlin Washington Gonzaga University).
Above definition revealed that social action is used as tool for mobilizing people. And it has the scope
of change within society with respect to a planned strategy. However such a mobilization can never be

Finding Truth In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
The Romantic Period was a time very different from that of the previous movement, the
Enlightenment. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves.
During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be
and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until
the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during
the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A
Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the
voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of
relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the
Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth
and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. Dionysus, the god of wine,
fertility, and music is found throughout the works of Romantic authors and is seen as an opposition to
reason from the Enlightenment.

Raising A Minimum Wage
A 2015 CBS/New York Times survey found that 71 percent of Americans favored an increase to the
minimum wage. (Doyle, pg 2). What if I tell you that raising a minimum wage is not a good idea for
our society? Would you believe that increasing a minimum hourly rate might cause more harm than
good in a long run? What if setting a high minimal wage will actually kill many jobs and increase
unemployment? Did you think that this raising minimum wage games are the never ending loops, and
are created to manipulate people, as they do not really improve or raise the quality of people s life?
A lot of politicians, to be perceived as caring, concerned and compassionate, love to talk about raising
a minimum wage. And immediately majority of poor people see the politicians as heroes who stood up
to protect them from greedy employers. Now people perceive the issue with the minimum wage as a
war between employees and employers. This is happening because not too many people know what
raising a minimum wage actually means, what are the long and short time effects, who is going to be
effected and how, what will happen to prices and standards of living, where the money will come
from, what will happened to unemployment and inflation rate. People seem do not understand that
everything comes with a cost.
Whether to raising a minimum wage, is well argued question between businessmen s, economists, and
politicians. As the issue is very complicated and complex, as it depends on different

Analysis Of The Book Romans
Romans 1 8 is a cornucopia of information that can only be understood by sufficiently delving into the
whole book in order to get the full meaning. This part of the book leads us from our total lives full of
sin to God s devotion to vindicate us, blessing us, and glorifying us by our religion through his good
will. The book of Romans is guide set aside to teach God s people about different aspects of the
Christianity. It gives people insight into how we should look at the natural Earth, It explains our
identity as Christians, It relates how our relationships should progress, and it discusses culture and

It is all in the nature of the world we inhabit every bit well as man s to repeat our mistakes and sins
continually. However, it is only through God s blessing that we can be saved.
Romans 1:20 (KJV) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are
without excuse:
When mankind sinned through the noncompliance, we were singled out by God. Because of this the
natural world and man began to die spiritually and subsist in a condition of evil. This sin affected
about every type of wickedness. Man s human identity is known only through Christ and his precepts
on the nature of humanity. It is in our nature that we are born in sin; thus it is our natural human drive
that we explore this sin to the satisfaction of the human race.
Romans 2:14 (KJV) For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained
in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Man cannot deny or deprive himself of these desires. It is solely through Christ who committed to
conquering death and forgive us our sins through the endowment of blessing. We are deprived within
ourselves. There is to some degree something immoral with us that we as individuals cannot repair.
Hence, we ask Jesus to justify, sanctify and glorify us. Therefore, it is only by the admission of this sin

West Nile Case Study Essay
This case study I debated between a couple of different diseases but ultimately decided to chose the
topic of West Nile for the fact that we have seen this disease in our community and I want to learn
more about it. West Nile is a virus that is spread through mosquitos. I will be discussing different
topics in this case study including, the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, the
prognosis, and some statistics of this disease. West Nile is something that we have all heard about.
Each year when the summer months approach we start to think about protecting ourselves from
mosquitos. One of the main reasons to protect ourselves is to avoid the spread of West Nile. We hear
about at least one person that has been diagnosed with this disease each summer. West Nile is a virus
that is spread via mosquitos. The virus usually spreads to humans along with animals through

interesting to learn about. I defiantly had no idea about some of the facts of this virus and the
complications than can develop from a mosquito bite. I am going to be more careful about prevent the
spread of this virus. I have always been careful in the past to not get bit by a mosquito just because I
am sure they carried a lot of bad viruses. I also found it to be fascinating to write a case study on a

disorganisation but the loss of sense of the very reality of things and of other persons [Gidden p37].
Ontological security also involves having a positive view of self, the world and the future. Ontology is
the science of being; therefore ontological security is the security of being, the maintenance of identity

individuals sets out to present themselves to the world around them, always trying to maintain the role
they have selected for themselves, since those whom they meet not only try to decide what role it is

main character Liesel Meminger (aged 9 years old at the beginning of the book) is sent with her

In the novel we see Death experience both joy and sadness, he tries to find meaning in his work and
does this by distracting himself with the colors of the sky when each human being he takes dies. The
fact that Death is the narrator confuses me, I think this is because I don t understand his role in the
book and what the purpose of him being the narrator is. One conclusion I have come to is that he is an
impartial onlooker watching and reporting on all the ugliness of the Holocaust and Germany at this
time period. Maybe to remind us of the pain and suffering that was involved. Death is mainly
associated with negativity but, in the book he seems as though he has feelings, this is shown in a quote
from The Book Thief spoken by Death it kills me sometimes, how people die. And also he does
something to me, that boy. Every time. It s his only detriment. He steps on my heart. He makes me

was robbery so much life, so much to live for yet somehow, I m certain he would have loved to see the
frightening rubble and the swelling of the sky on the night he passed away. He d have cried and turned
and smiled if only her could have seen the book thief on her hands and knees, next to his decimated
body. He d have been glad to witness her kissing his dusty, bomb hit lips. Yes, I know it. In the
darkness of my dark beating heart, I know. He d have loved it all right. You see? Even death has a
heart. This made me think that purpose of Death narrating The Book Thief reinstates the perception of
care in Death and in Dying, the novel shows us another way to perceive the idea of

Spacex s Next Rocket Launch
SpaceX s next rocket launch has been delayed for a few months, following the June 28 explosion that

Fashion In Japanese Fashion
Whenever someone mentions Japan, what would a normal person think of? They could possibly think
of their cuisine, anime, or their bustling capital of Tokyo. Yet, when fashion is added to the question,
what are the first thoughts? Surely, their traditional clothing of kimonos and yukatas may be the first
thought for some, but some might think of the popularized street fashion that they see in the media:
the gyaru, lolitas, and genderless kei. Yet, their daily clothing has been adapted to women wearing
skirts and men wearing suits. Without a doubt, they are looking like the rest of the world of which the
West has influenced; they are no longer one of a kind in terms of modern fashion. In order for them to
retrieve their uniqueness in the fashion world, the Japanese branded themselves with their many
different styles of fashion, but could not have done so without the strong influence of the media. One
of the most recent bang of exploding popularity Japanese fashion styles is the genderless fashion.
Genderless fashion can be seen in many different styles, including the street and in high fashion.
Particularly, it is most popular in the streets of large Japanese cities. In areas such as Harajuku, it is not
uncommon to see the renowned genderless kei and genderless gyaru walking around, and it is slowly
becoming a norm for Japanese people to see these types of fashion. British magazine company, i D,

Traditional Family In America
In America the concept of the traditional nuclear family is forced on the population by means of the
media, social media, and the educational systems. The idea or concept of this is ideal family is a
fallacy and no longer is a norm compared to the 1950 s. Only 48.4 percent of households have a
married couple; 20 percent of all households contain married couples who have children living with
them (Caruso Timmermann, 2013). This change means that the traditional family structure has
evolved. America has a high divorce rate of an estimated 40 to 50 percent. Castelloe states, that within

When children have issues at home, these issues affect other aspects of life, such as, education, mental
health, and social abilities. Tendencies that are different from social norms, may manifest themselves
in a student s education and grades. Parents recklessly shove children into relationships, forcing them
to assimilate. This may be very problematic and detrimental to a child s mental and emotional health.
Often, parents do not admit to needing help with parenting and resolving issues. A common belief is
that problems will work themselves out and it is just a matter of adjustment, this is usually false.
All individuals within a blended family, must contend with ethical, gender, economic, cultural, and

To owner, Rocky Aoki and his team, their understanding on consumer patterns became their
advantage; the consumer s distrust of exotic food and their enjoyment of eating in exotic surroundings,
and the customer s interest in watching their food cooked. Though unique, this system allows the
business for greater control on the flow and options given to the customer.
On the menu, a variety of appetizers, soup, salad and beverages are offered; however, the limited
option to the main entrée: steak, shrimp or chicken allows for the business to control their food
expense at a minimal rate of 30 35% in sales. Consequently, less options also equates to less waste
since there s less to prep and the majority of each ingredient is utilized for show or consumption (i.e.

not risk using too much or too little ingredients since it is all portioned and easily prepped to order in

As part of the experience, more attentive service is given to the patrons, whereby a waitress and chef

How Does Alcohol Dehydrogenase
Question 1:
1. Enzymes: Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH)
2. Alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase helps separate the alcohol molecule, making it
more likely to remove it from the body.
ADH first metabolizes the alcohol to acetaldehyde, an extremely toxic matter, known as carcinogen.
Then, acetaldehyde is metabolized to a different by product called acetate that is broken down into
water and carbon dioxide.
 Acetaldehyde: a toxic by product
Acetaldehyde is a by product that only occurs early in the breakdown process. When acetaldehyde still
exists in the body only for a short amount of time before it is broken down into acetate. Acetate is
likely to cause significant damage that is most likely evident in the liver. ... Show more content on

The Victorian Era Of British History Essay
The Victorian Era of British history was the time of Queen Victoria s rule from 20 June 1837 until her
passing, on 22 January 1901. It was a long stretch of peace, prosperous period regarding sensibilities
and political concerns to the section of the Reform Act 1832. The time was gone before by the
Georgian period and took after by the Edwardian period. The laterhalf of the Victorian age generally
concurred with the first divide of the Belle period of mainland Europe and the Gilded Age of the
United States. Among the numerous improvements that made Victoria s rule appear to be
extraordinarily not quite the same as prior periods in British history, two are particularly meriting
consideration. The primary is the French Revolution (1789 1815), and the second is the Industrial
Revolution that started around 1780 and quickened all through the Victorian Age. Victorians survived
earth shattering times they expected to confront the world after a long and extreme fight with
Revolutionary and Napoleonic France, which had toppled an out of date medieval respectability for
the purpose of law based convictions, just to passage opportunity, parity, and society by military
violence. In England there was much early vitality from essayists and taught individuals for the
Revolution s claim that human foundations were improvable, not for all time regular or god
designated. The progressives toppled an undemocratic and ruffian structure and planned to put set up

Comparing Loss of Self in Soldiers Home, Paul s Case, and...
Loss of Self in Hemingway s Soldiers Home, Cather s Paul s Case, and Melville s Bartleby the

Hemingway s Soldiers Home, Cather s Paul s Case, and Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener all present a
loss of self. These stories prove that there is a fine line between finding one s self and losing one s
self. I believe this loss can occur at any age or station of life. This idea is seen in each story s main
character.
Hemingway s Soldier s Home depicts a young man in his early twenties after his return from World

Paul s Case , by Cather, is a story in which Paul, an adolescent, is trying to find himself. Unlike
Hemingway, Cather exposes the influence of a stable but cold environment to be detrimental to one s
well being. Paul s dilemma begins with school, a place he is not fond of. His teachers have a strong
disliking of Paul. This is seen at his readmittance inquiry ... they fell upon him without mercy, his
English teacher leading the pack (161). Paul s inner struggle is recognized by only one teacher, the
drawing master. The drawing master had come to realize that, in looking at Paul, one saw only his
white teeth and forced animation of his eyes (162). He also noted the time Paul had fallen asleep in
class, what a white, blue veined face it was; drawn and wrinkled like an old man s about the eyes, lips
twitching even in his sleep (162). This observation clues us that Paul is not a happy go lucky teenager;
there is an inner battle going on.
Paul s true desire is seen in the theater when he sits to watch the symphony: the first sigh of the
instruments seem to free some hilarious and potent spirit within him; something that struggled there
like the Genius in the bottle found by the Arab fisherman. He felt a sudden zest for life. . (164). After

Examples Of Microbiologic Automation
1. The inflammation process begins by a response to any agent that causes cell injury or bacteria
response. This could either be physical, chemical or microbiologic. Physical response is can either by
to heat or cold. Concentrated acid or alkali are some examples of chemical response. Some examples
of microbiologic response is bacterium or virus. After the inflammation response begins, the
capillaries begin to dilate. The blood vessels begin to expand, which increases the blood flow. This
causes the skin to increase in temperature and redness. Because of the dilation, the capillary
permeability, a condition of the capillary wall structure that allows blood elements and waste products
to pass through the capillary wall to tissue spaces, increases. The leakage of plasma causes the skin or
affected area to begin to swell. White blood cells, leukocytes, begin to migrate to the site of injury.
Polymorphonuclear is the most important cell. At this point in the inflammation process, the systemic
response begins. This is a set of physiologic actions that fight the infection and heal wounds. Exudates
are fluids and cells that filled the tissue space during inflammation. There are many different types of
exudate: serous, purulent, fibrinous, hemorrhagic based, and purulent exudate. The last part of the

Gender Roles in Television Essay
Introduction
It is often said that the media and the arts are an accurate reflection of any given community. This is
especially true in American pop culture, where television shows depict the various stereotypes
attributed to men and women and the roles they play in society. House, a highly popular medical
drama that revolves around Dr. Gregory House and his diagnostic team, is a particularly good example
as it represents the true state of the traditional gender roles in American culture today by, both,
redefining and reinforcing them over the course of the show.
In Big Baby, the thirteenth episode of the current season, the show highlights these gender roles by
centering on the effects the recent adoption of Rachel has had on Dr. ... Show more content on

In Gender Role Behaviors and Attitudes, Aaron Devor sheds light on this stereotype:
Feminine characteristics are thought to be intrinsic to the female facility for childbirth and breast
feeding. Hence, it is popularly believed that the social position of females is biologically mandated to
be intertwined with the care of children and a natural dependency on men for the maintenance of
mother child units.
Dr. Cuddy s confusion and fears over raising her adopted daughter indicates a significant shift from
this centuries old stereotype ascribed to women a radical redefinition of traditional gender roles.
Mr. Sensitive
However, this redefinition is not limited to women alone. Dr. Wilson is perhaps the most diplomatic,
sensible, and level headed character in the entire show as he constantly strives to broker a truce
between the clashing personalities of Dr. Cuddy and Dr. House.
In this episode, he reveals his emotional and sensitive side as he attempts to console a tearful Dr.
Cuddy who was struggling with maternity. He returns to her house later on in the episode and attempts
to cheer her up by bringing Dr. Cuddy an age enhanced photograph of a teenage Rachel. He tries to
get her to understand that the motherly love develops over time. He then admits that the photograph
came with the frame and was not Rachel.

The real question is, did the ACA truly reduced costs for the previous insured? Supporting data
suggest otherwise and paints the picture of ever increasing priced insurance market that has not hit
sustainability. In 2016 the American population again saw their insurance plans increasing their
premiums from 10% 13% across the board. This is much more than expected, and even worse the co

amongst Americans leading to the U.S. increasing the overall national debt. Starting 2018 all high end

accounts have occurred as over the counter medicines are no longer qualified expenses for flexible

The Global Financial Crisis Of 2007-2008
The Global Financial Crisis of 2007 2008 is the worst financial crisis since the 1930 s The Great
Depression (Reuters, 2009). Even if bailouts of banks by national governments prevented the collapse
of major financial institutions, worldwide stock markets continued to drop. Evictions and foreclosures
overwhelmed the housing market while severed unemployment embraced the labor market (Baily and
Elliot, 2009). This global financial crisis was responsible for the decline in the consumers wealth, and
contributed to the great recession and European debt crisis (LA Times, 2012). Varying opinions have
been suggested to address the origin of the global financial crisis including conflicting of interests,
complicated financial instruments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the Russian debt crisis and the Asian financial crisis, massive credit availability existed, fueled
by large inflows from Russia and Asia. The large transfers of foreign funds facilitated housing
construction boom and promoted spending in consumer markets. With real estate, a bubble was also
formed thanks to loose lending standards and rising real estate prices. This ensured fast obtainable
loans for consumers, allowing unprecedented loan levels (Bernanke, 2009). Foreclosure became a
desirable option when home prices started falling. Consumer s wealth were drained and the strength of
financial institutions were undermined. While the number of loans and defaults continued to increase,
the crisis transmitted to other markets (IMF, 2009). On a bigger scale, financialization came into
being: the state of financial institutions to expand while adding fragility. Deregulation and the
importance of a shadow banking system was fully understood as a way to fund American economic
credit (Geithner, 2008). Another reason for the global financial crisis is the activities of subprime
lending. In order to please less qualified borrowers, mortgage lenders originated riskier mortgages
while simultaneously relaxing underwriting standards. Combination of intense competition and
shifting of power from securitizers to originators, steady mortgage standards declined and unstable
loans skyrocketed rapidly (Simkovic, 2011). Major investment banks led the expansion of lending

The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization
1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization
Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world
(Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity
differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the
equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of
worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total
level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the
percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an
organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. An organization s
full capacity is the minimum point on total cost function, a full input point on the aggregate
production function and a bottleneck point in a general equilibrium system. Full capacity should be
defined as a realizable level of output that can be attained under normal input conditions without

econometric models in estimation of the relative significance of the determinants in investment,

The Success Of Burton s Snowboards Started Selling From...
Burton s Snowboards began selling from the back of a car. The company s success is shocking looking
at the startup and market that Jake Burton Carpenter entered into. Carpenter had the goal of becoming
rich and found a way to do so through hard work, pride, and a couple pieces of wood. The snowboards
he made in the beginning were poorly designed and did not sell because he had no interested
customers. The industry he was trying to sell in did not yet exist, so he had to make it. Finally finding
the right target market and a place to use his products his snowboards began to soar in popularity.
Carpenter had to fight to have snowboards allowed on the slopes. Through his determination and early
morning snowboarding sessions with his most loyal customers he was able to breakdown the reluctant
resorts and hit their slopes. However, once the public sees one company do well they decide its time to
join the market. Competition began to pop up, as snowboarding became an international market.
Carpenter then had to ensure his spot in the competitive global market by problem solving quicker
than his competitors. Today, his business is still the best snowboard company in the market. The main
issue facing his company today is not just staying on top, but remaining in business. The popularity of
the sport rose so quickly and gained professional status in the nineties, but today the youth are
beginning to look towards other equipment. Carpenter has to find a way to ensure that

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Great Influenza By John Barry
The Author of The Great Influenza, John M. Barry, used rhetorical devices to inform the public of how
science is about not knowing and figuring out how to prove the suggested idea. The scientists had to
deal with uncertainty and manipulating results and experiments to prove their idea, just like Barry
used rhetorical devices to manipulate the reader s ideas and thoughts.
John M. Barry has written award winning books including the Influenza pandemic of 1918, and the
great Mississippi flood. Being invited by 2 presidential administrations, Bush and Obama, to advise on
preparedness for pandemics and pandemic response. Having also advised on state, federal, UN and
world health organizations on influenza, water disasters, risk communication and crisis management
Barry is more than qualified to talk about such a topic considering his past of assisting the world with
disaster prevention and response. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People have to admit that they are uncertain of what could be it is logical appeal because we don t
know everything about the world we live in and if we think we do then what is the point of science,
innovation, and change? He also mentioned how one scientist makes the trail and other scientists pave
the road ahead. Barry was stating that we can t do everything on our own and we have to accept and
encourage the help of others. He said scientists that deal with and accept uncertainty may not have the
creative capacity to design the experiments to prove or disprove the debated topic. Science is logical
and having the ability to state that we don t know everything is part of what makes society

Rodney King Term Paper
Rodney King and the Straw that Broke the Camel s Back
At 12:30 A.M. on March 3, 1991, Tim and Melanie Singer, a married team of the California Highway
Patrol, noticed a Hyundai speeding along the Foothill Freeway in northeastern L.A. The car belonged
to Rodney Glen King, a native Californian who had recently been released from prison for threatening
and assaulting a storeowner. Immediately, the Singers exited the highway, returned behind King s
vehicle, and began to pursue at speeds up to 117 mph. After nearly causing multiple accidents, King
finally came to a stop outside Hansen Dam Park. Within seconds, Officers Laurence Powell, Timothy
Wind, Theodore Briseno, Rolando Solano, and Sergeant Stacey Koon arrived in three LAPD cruisers

And although the economic injustices are already prevalent and disturbing, the numbers continue and
grow even more astonishing. While 19.8% of white children lived in poverty, the rate reached a
ridiculous 38.2% for African American children during the same time. Unemployment also plagued
the area and increased significantly during the late 80s and early 90s. As large manufacturers such as
Firestone, Goodyear, and Bethlehem Steel departed South Central L.A., residents were forced to find
alternative sources for jobs, a task that proved to be extremely difficult (Tucker Jr.). This truth was
only accentuated by the lack of transit, which prevented many from getting jobs far from their
communities ( 1992 Los Angeles Riots ). Consequently, from June 1990 to February 1992 (20
months), more than 300,000 jobs were lost, a number that accounted for 60% of the all the jobs lot in
California during that time. This means that over 20 jobs were lost every hour on average. In fact, at
certain times during the early 1990s, African Americans that were labeled as part of the underclass ,
the most disadvantaged people (usually minorities), accounted for more than one third of the entire
black population in the United States. The insufficient incomes of minority groups were also
accompanied by unequal shopping opportunities. One study compared Inglewood, a predominately
African American neighborhood, to North Hollywood, a

The Importance Of Pesticides In New Hampshire
Pesticides in New Hampshire Civics 1.04 Read an Article Madison Beaton New Hampshire is known
for having many farms spread out throughout the state, especially in Coos County. Because of this,
many bugs come to survive off of the crops that grow here. If bugs keep eating the plants, then the
quality of the crop will go down. It s not just bugs that come to live off the plants, it is also animals
like deer, bears, moose, and many more. All of these pests coming to steal and eat the plants can cause
the land to lose moisture and lower the quality as well. This has affected the farming community
greatly. It also affects stores and the people that shop there because the animals and bugs ruin a
generous amount of crops. The less plants

Democracy Of The Islamic States ( Iran Vs Turkey
Democracy in the Islamic States (Iran Vs Turkey)
Democracy is a predominant authority regime that most countries both young and mature have
adopted based on its accrued benefits. Defining democracy can be a daunting task as several countries
may prefer to institute governing policies rather than adopt from other states (Rowley Smith, 2009).
The element of incorporating modified aspects of democracy is based on the difference in several
factors that may range from religion, culture, to political ambition. Islamic states are considered
complex as religion sharia laws play a prevailing role in the majority of the administration tasks
conducted by the state. As such, Islamic countries defined by a democratic administration will prefer
to integrate the alternative that will serve them best. This essay will evaluate two democratic regimes
that were established in the Middle East, and further, discuss the factors that lead to Iran s democratic
failure over Turkey s administration success.
Assessing Compatibility between democracy and Islam is a topic that numerous and prominent
individuals ranging from authors, religious leaders, political figures among other important
personalities have significantly contributed towards. As purported by Ahmad (2011), most
intellectuals, for instance, oriental scholars have over time represented Islamic governed states as
static with minimum development. The culmination of the Iranian revolution in 1979 sparked an
inquiry into the authoritarian

Feminism In Rip Van Winkle
Modern critics mainly declare Washington Irving as the remarkable American writer, who creates a
verily American genre of the short story. However, Irving s short story Rip Van Winkle from The
Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., sets a considerable debate among critics relating to the author
s attitude toward gender problems. As many critics arguing, especially female ones, the women in Rip
Van Winkle are not described as nice. Rip s wife portrays as a grumbling woman, who is always
fighting with her husband. As a result of this kind of representation, some critics accuse Irving with
anti feminism attitude. For example, Judith Fetterley begins her book The Resisting Reader: A
Feminist Approach to American Fiction, with the analysis of the famous nineteenth century literary
works. She investigates those literary works in order to justify the need for changing the practice of
reading. The concept of the resisting reader consists in the resistance of the reader from the imposed
literary structures, assessments, and interpretations of the text, i.e. in emancipation from male
dominance. She starts her book with the feminist interpretation of Washington s Rip Van Winkle. She
classifies this story as the representation of life in an all male world, a world without women, the ideal
American territory (Fetterley, 6). She describes the character of Rip Van Winkle as a carefree person,
who is not participating in domestic duties, and who would rather prefer the life

Head Start Program Pros And Cons
Research for Head Start has found many lasting benefits for learning and educational achievement for
its attendees. Including school progress and educational attainment, social behavior, and reduction of
delinquency and crime that is usually found within disadvantaged families. Head Start addresses all
the guidelines within the Family Impact checklist on providing all adequate services to low income
families. As mentioned above, under Family Support and Responsibilities, Head Start is a federally
funded program, which also receives donations and grants. Therefore, the federal government must
increase funding to the Head Start program so children from low income families, get early education
services to help them succeed in school. Since Head Start programs have minimal funding there are
not enough spots available to include every child in need of the services provided by this program,
especially within certain regions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it hard for low income families and their children to get the adequate education they need
to strive. Head Start also experiences a lot of turnovers within staff because there is not enough
funding for the programs to pay their staff competitive wages that they need to stay instead of leaving
for higher paying jobs. Thus, funding for Head Start should be increased to increase the number of
teachers therefore making it possible to add more spots for children and their families into the current
programs and for more optimal pay for the staff. Consequently, expanding this program and making it
more accessible to low income children and families who are in need of

Compare And Contrast Black And Wordsworth
London is the capital if England. With the changes of history and times, and the vicissitudes of the
world, this old line and beautiful city has formed the humanistic spirit with national characteristics.
After reading the two Williams works, I couldn t hold back my curiosity about the differences in their
poems. Although Black and Wordsworth are all important representatives of romantic poets, their
writing styles and points of view vary so much. How could London vary so much in two productions?
What caused the disparity? This sends me thinking deeply.
First and foremost, the most possible reason is the background. The two writers stayed in two different
ages, so it s hard to avoid the difference in their writing styles. London by William ... Show more

Although they were all in London, the characters in their poems differed in thousands of ways. The
poem written by Blake pressed close to the daily life of citizens who lived in London. He focused
mostly on the poor and common people, like infants, soldiers and harlot, and he used ordinary words
to express his personal feelings. The words like weakness , woe , cry , fear and so on, they all became
the representative words of streetscape of London. The poet meticulously portrayed the form and
emotion of every person, that brought stirring effect to readers. The poet represents the sound and
picture of London to us. The pedestrians sadness on their faces, the little baby s crying caused by
shock, the noise on the road, the shouting of the chimney sweeper, the curses of the prostitutes, these
representative pictures line on the charter d street , raise the readers sympathy, strengthen its drama
part. In this poetry, In every ... is repeated three times, with this strong repetition, Blake mixes literal
and metaphorical meaning in a disturbing and powerful way. Faces bear marks, marriage is destroyed,
both are signs of the corruption and decay of a city whose streets are chartered and whose rivers are
even chartered too. The chartered river is one of the images of natural life turned rotten and corrupt.
William Blake uses his poetry as a means of social criticism. Wordsworth, however, the view in his
poem is a distant

  • 2. Global Economic Conditions and Market Analysis Global economic conditions The global economic conditions have a direct bearing on the local economic condition within the nation. This means that the product (SOC) has also be greatly affected in terms of demand and distribution. The global economic growth has been noted to have slowed down over 2012 and this trend is expected to be sustained over the next two years. This means there will be a downgrade to the earlier projected growth rate, though there still will be a growth rate, albeit at a lower pace than was hitherto foreseen. The UN Department of Economic and Social affairs (2013) forecasts a 2.4% global growth in 2013 and a further 3.2% global growth in 2014. This means that the recovery from the job loss that was triggered in 2008 recession takes longer. What this means for the local microeconomic situation in the country is that more people prioritize the essential and basic goods first and considering the daily consumption supply as a priority. This negatively impacts on my business since the cards that are exchanged globally, particularly during the special seasons and occasions are often considered secondary needs hence one would get into buying on either online or physically, if and when they shall have fulfilled their primary needs. Local economy s stage in the business cycle The local economic status is more promising than the external markets for my products. • 3. The Murder And Robbery Of A Teenage Girl By Six African... On June 15th, 1920, three innocent men were beaten and lynched in Duluth, Minnesota. The alleged rape and robbery of a teenage girl by six African American men, led a mob of protesters to kidnap three of the men and punish them without trial . Durring this time, racial tensions were at an all time high in Duluth . The Duluth lynchings were met with different reactions, and in many ways it sparked a change in the United States. Events such as this one often go unremembered due to their troubling nature, but these events are educational and necessary to learn while investigating Minnesota history. The background, legal action, and after math of it all show how Minnesota, and the country as a whole reacted to this event . While some Local Duluth newspaper responded in favor of the mob, the majority of National newspapers condemned the mob for their heinous crimes. Opposite reactions from multiple news reports shows how divided our country was about civil rights at the time, and how controversial the topic was . A call to action was needed. The Duluth lychings affected the nation by showing how controversial civil rights was at this time, and influencing the creation of new programs and laws to protect the rights of African Americans in our country. The 1920 s presented many hardships for the small black community the resided in Duluth. Racial tensions in the city, as well as all over the country, were high during this period . • 4. Police Enforcement And Community Policing According to COPS and the U.S. Department of Justice, community policing begins with a commitment to building trust and respect between police and communities. Many police department and citizens within the communities collaborate and they more effectively address underlying issues, change negative behavioral patterns, and allocate resources. Bureau of Justice Statistics defines community policing as, A philosophy that promotes organizational strategies, which support the systematic use of partnerships and problem solving techniques between the police and the community. These situations address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime. Some states also get grants to hire community policing professionals that develop nineteenth century in the United States and England; the police have struggled with balancing the need to be efficient and effective, while also being lawful (Walker 1994). Police practice is indeed rooted in Western political philosophy, which emphasizes equity, fairness, and justice (Critchley, 1967). In 1974 the Kansas City Patrol Experiment demonstrated that increasing routine preventive patrol and police response time had a very limited impact on reducing crime levels, allaying citizens fear of crime, and increasing community satisfaction with police service community (Chaiken, Greenwood, and Petersilia). The elements of community policing, such as improvements in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of The Conversion Of Lower Energy Light Upconversion is a term that characterizes the conversion of lower energy light, particularly in the near infrared region, into higher energy light within the visible spectrum. This occurs through a process in which the sequential absorption of multi photon near infrared light yields the emission of light that is of shorter wavelength[1]. This process is represented in Figure 1, which shows the emissions of light within the visible spectrum after excitation of various dopant ions by near infrared light[1]. The upconversion effect has been observed primarily in the rare earth metals of the lanthanides as well as yttrium, and scandium; however, some transition metals and actinides can also display this effect[2]. Lanthanide ions display special inner shell arrangements of 4fn 5d0 1, which allow for unique energy levels and provide shielding from the outer shells[2]. Due to their various f orbital configurations, lanthanide ions are able to display very sharp luminescence emissions via intra 4f or 4f 4d transitions[2,3]. The importance of the lanthanide ions is evident in several applications including applications in lasers, bioprobe applications, optical imaging, and photodynamic therapy [2,3]. This is due to their fluorescent properties, which include: resistance to photobleaching, monochromaticity, large Stokes shifts, narrow bandwidth, and long emission lifetime[2,3]. The direct excitation of the lanthanide ions is not very effective because they are limited by low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Charlotte was supposed to host the All Star Game during the 2017 season, but limitations on the bathroom rights for transgender individuals caused the league to move the game to New Orleans. Silver also discussed travel bans created by President Trump, as the NBA contains many international players. This article relates to the Invisible Man because it discusses looking past differences to create unity. A major theme of Invisible Man is individuality and being the unique individual a person is. An example of this is shown when the narrator eats yams, as he does not allow society and its views of him eating yams to impact his decisions. Likewise, the NBA looks for individuality and uniqueness from fans of the league and players in the league. We feel that the important contributions made by outside groups Gay liberation, the women s movement, mental patients union, trade unions and tenants associations reflect lack of confidence in social workers, usually with good reasons. It is not intended to demoralize those social workers who are themselves conditioned and controlled by the very institutional structures, in which they work, but to make them aware of contradictions, and to assist them to develop critical action. Social Action as a Method of Social Work: A strategy to obtain limited social change at the intermediate or macro levels of society which is generally used in non consensus situation and employs both norm adhering and norm testing modes of intervention. Three concepts are fundamental to this definition: the scope of change, the use of power in effecting and resisting change, and the change strategies employed (By S.K.Khinduka and Bernard J. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves. During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. Now people perceive the issue with the minimum wage as a war between employees and employers. This is happening because not too many people know what raising a minimum wage actually means, what are the long and short time effects, who is going to be effected and how, what will happen to prices and standards of living, where the money will come from, what will happened to unemployment and inflation rate. And this chaos is not just disorganisation but the loss of sense of the very reality of things and of other persons [Gidden p37]. Ontological security also involves having a positive view of self, the world and the future. Ontology is the science of being; therefore ontological security is the security of being, the maintenance of identity and the self. This would cause anxiety and result in the withdrawal from certain experiences or activities to maintain the ontology. Goffman on the other hand refers to the identity of self as a performance and a script where an individual sets the scene for their life. Basically he is saying that individuals sets out to present themselves to the world around them, always trying to maintain the role they have selected for themselves, since those whom they meet not only try to decide what role it is you are playing, but also whether or not you are competent to play that role. The fact that Death is the narrator confuses me, I think this is because I don t understand his role in the book and what the purpose of him being the narrator is. One conclusion I have come to is that he is an impartial onlooker watching and reporting on all the ugliness of the Holocaust and Germany at this time period. Maybe to remind us of the pain and suffering that was involved. Death is mainly associated with negativity but, in the book he seems as though he has feelings, this is shown in a quote from The Book Thief spoken by Death it kills me sometimes, how people die. And also he does something to me, that boy. Every time. It s his only detriment. He steps on my heart. He makes me cry. The quote I found most intriguing though was, on many counts, taking a boy like Rudy Steiner was robbery so much life, so much to live for yet somehow, I m certain he would have loved to see the frightening rubble and the swelling of the sky on the night he passed away. He d have cried and turned and smiled if only her could have seen the book thief on her hands and knees, next to his decimated body. He d have been glad to witness her kissing his dusty, bomb hit lips. Yes, I know it. In the darkness of my dark beating heart, I know. He d have loved it all right. You see? Even death has a heart. This made me think that purpose of Death narrating The Book Thief reinstates the perception of care in Death and in Dying, the novel shows us another way to perceive the idea of ... • 20. Fashion In Japanese Fashion Whenever someone mentions Japan, what would a normal person think of? They could possibly think of their cuisine, anime, or their bustling capital of Tokyo. Yet, when fashion is added to the question, what are the first thoughts? Surely, their traditional clothing of kimonos and yukatas may be the first thought for some, but some might think of the popularized street fashion that they see in the media: the gyaru, lolitas, and genderless kei. Yet, their daily clothing has been adapted to women wearing skirts and men wearing suits. Without a doubt, they are looking like the rest of the world of which the West has influenced; they are no longer one of a kind in terms of modern fashion. In order for them to retrieve their uniqueness in the fashion world, the Japanese branded themselves with their many different styles of fashion, but could not have done so without the strong influence of the media. One of the most recent bang of exploding popularity Japanese fashion styles is the genderless fashion. Genderless fashion can be seen in many different styles, including the street and in high fashion. Particularly, it is most popular in the streets of large Japanese cities. In areas such as Harajuku, it is not uncommon to see the renowned genderless kei and genderless gyaru walking around, and it is slowly becoming a norm for Japanese people to see these types of fashion. The time was gone before by the Georgian period and took after by the Edwardian period. The laterhalf of the Victorian age generally concurred with the first divide of the Belle period of mainland Europe and the Gilded Age of the United States. Among the numerous improvements that made Victoria s rule appear to be extraordinarily not quite the same as prior periods in British history, two are particularly meriting consideration. The primary is the French Revolution (1789 1815), and the second is the Industrial Revolution that started around 1780 and quickened all through the Victorian Age. Victorians survived earth shattering times they expected to confront the world after a long and extreme fight with Revolutionary and Napoleonic France, which had toppled an out of date medieval respectability for the purpose of law based convictions, just to passage opportunity, parity, and society by military violence. This could either be physical, chemical or microbiologic. Physical response is can either by to heat or cold. Concentrated acid or alkali are some examples of chemical response. Some examples of microbiologic response is bacterium or virus. After the inflammation response begins, the capillaries begin to dilate. The blood vessels begin to expand, which increases the blood flow. This causes the skin to increase in temperature and redness. Because of the dilation, the capillary permeability, a condition of the capillary wall structure that allows blood elements and waste products to pass through the capillary wall to tissue spaces, increases. The leakage of plasma causes the skin or affected area to begin to swell. White blood cells, leukocytes, begin to migrate to the site of injury. Polymorphonuclear is the most important cell. This ensured fast obtainable loans for consumers, allowing unprecedented loan levels (Bernanke, 2009). Foreclosure became a desirable option when home prices started falling. • 38. The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization 1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world (Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. An organization s full capacity is the minimum point on total cost function, a full input point on the aggregate production function and a bottleneck point in a general equilibrium system. The company s success is shocking looking at the startup and market that Jake Burton Carpenter entered into. Carpenter had the goal of becoming rich and found a way to do so through hard work, pride, and a couple pieces of wood. The snowboards he made in the beginning were poorly designed and did not sell because he had no interested customers. The industry he was trying to sell in did not yet exist, so he had to make it. Finally finding the right target market and a place to use his products his snowboards began to soar in popularity. Carpenter had to fight to have snowboards allowed on the slopes. Through his determination and early morning snowboarding sessions with his most loyal customers he was able to breakdown the reluctant resorts and hit their slopes. However, once the public sees one company do well they decide its time to join the market. Competition began to pop up, as snowboarding became an international market. Carpenter then had to ensure his spot in the competitive global market by problem solving quicker than his competitors. Today, his business is still the best snowboard company in the market. The popularity of the sport rose so quickly and gained professional status in the nineties, but today the youth are beginning to look towards other equipment. While 19.8% of white children lived in poverty, the rate reached a ridiculous 38.2% for African American children during the same time. Unemployment also plagued the area and increased significantly during the late 80s and early 90s. As large manufacturers such as Firestone, Goodyear, and Bethlehem Steel departed South Central L.A., residents were forced to find alternative sources for jobs, a task that proved to be extremely difficult (Tucker Jr.). This truth was only accentuated by the lack of transit, which prevented many from getting jobs far from their communities ( 1992 Los Angeles Riots ). Democracy Of The Islamic States ( Iran Vs Turkey Democracy in the Islamic States (Iran Vs Turkey) Democracy is a predominant authority regime that most countries both young and mature have adopted based on its accrued benefits. Defining democracy can be a daunting task as several countries may prefer to institute governing policies rather than adopt from other states (Rowley Smith, 2009). The element of incorporating modified aspects of democracy is based on the difference in several factors that may range from religion, culture, to political ambition. Islamic states are considered complex as religion sharia laws play a prevailing role in the majority of the administration tasks conducted by the state. • 47. Feminism In Rip Van Winkle Modern critics mainly declare Washington Irving as the remarkable American writer, who creates a verily American genre of the short story. However, Irving s short story Rip Van Winkle from The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., sets a considerable debate among critics relating to the author s attitude toward gender problems. As many critics arguing, especially female ones, the women in Rip Van Winkle are not described as nice. Rip s wife portrays as a grumbling woman, who is always fighting with her husband. As a result of this kind of representation, some critics accuse Irving with anti feminism attitude. For example, Judith Fetterley begins her book The Resisting Reader: A Feminist Approach to American Fiction, with the analysis of the famous nineteenth century literary works. She investigates those literary works in order to justify the need for changing the practice of reading. The concept of the resisting reader consists in the resistance of the reader from the imposed literary structures, assessments, and interpretations of the text, i.e. in emancipation from male dominance. She starts her book with the feminist interpretation of Washington s Rip Van Winkle. She classifies this story as the representation of life in an all male world, a world without women, the ideal American territory (Fetterley, 6). She describes the character of Rip Van Winkle as a carefree person, who is not participating in domestic duties, and who would rather prefer the life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
