1. Background.
Documentum was founded by Howard Shao and John Newton in 1990. These two database engineers
after hearing about the problems their customers at Ingress were faced when they tried to put several
documents from different departments together, decided to create software that would allow the
management of unstructured information as documents and hence they created what they called
Enterprise document management . Currently that term has evolved to what is now called Enterprise

Furthermore Companies also faced the risk that the startup would run out of money and also lack
proven execution experience. Also the technology that Documentum uses while revolutionary has
been only tested with two companies Boeing and Syntex it will be very difficult to explain to potential
clients what exactly the software can bring to them in terms of value and what exactly are the
ramifications of using the software in their companies.
Opportunities
Because Documentum s technology is something new and its concept is revolutionary selecting a
target market presents a challenge. There are many companies that could benefit from this type of
software especially in the areas where the software has already been tested: aircraft maintenance and
pharmaceutical NDA. According to the case, management has retained 5 scenarios (Exhibit 6) that
followed a process developed by Geoffrey Moore. The real problem lies on how does Documentum
goes about selling the product do they go about it vertically or horizontally?
Threats
The major threats that we can discern is the fact that the technology is revolutionary in itself and that
those types of technological advances are most of the time adopted by early visionaries. Furthermore
explaining the technology to potential clients can become a challenge because the clients themselves
don t know what they are looking for and might also not be willing to consider the expenditures
involved in such a project.

Symbolism In Beetlejuice
The film Beetlejuice is about the story of Adam and Barbara who lived in a house in a beautiful town.
After Barbara and Adam die in a car accident, they realized that they have become ghosts, unable to
leave their home. When their house is purchased by the Deetzes, a family from the city, adam and
Barbara try to scare them away, but they seemed to struggle. Sooner or later, they call the people
exorciser Beetlejuice for some help. However, they realized that Beetlejuice was to dangerous. The
film uses a variety of colors to help this psychological piece to really embrace the story. In addition,

The film start with the appearance of the town where the movie takes place. The camera rests on the
Maitland s house creating an illusion because the viewer thinks that they are looking at a normal sized
house. All of sudden, a giant spider climbs over the roof of the house, revealing to the viewer that they
are viewing a model of a house. The spider can be seen as a symbol to notify the viewers of the
unsettling events that will occur in that specific location in the film. Burton uses the creepy spider so
the viewer can experience goosebumps while getting an insight of the world of Beetlejuice. Then
again, creepy spiders along with other parasites make an appearance when Betelgeuse pulls them out
of his pockets revealing his revolting character. The viewers can figure out that Betelgeuse is an
undesirable varmint himself when he transforms himself into a snake and attacks the Deetzes. Burton

The Biblical Foundation Of James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues
Sonny s Blues is one of James Baldwin s most famous short stories, and probably his most noteworthy
one. Countless people have analyzed the several obvious themes and concepts that are within Sonny s
Blues, like jazz music and the unnamed narrator. However, surprisingly, I have not found many
articles regarding the several religious and biblical references in my search, despite this themes
playing a major role in the short story. There are a few mentions of those references in some articles,
as James Tackach points out in his article The Biblical Foundation of James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues ,
but no in depth analysis of it or its significance to the story. It s not surprising that Baldwin would
incorporate his religion as a major part of his story. Many African American writers allude to the Bible
in their works. Much like most African American Christians, Baldwin was intimately acquainted with
the Bible. In fact, he became a member and preacher at his local Harlem church by the age of
fourteen. In his autobiography, he ventures to say that the King James Bible have something to do
with [him] today. Given the vital role of religion in African American writing, Baldwin s history with
the church, and even his own comments on the topic, it is puzzling that such few people have made
mention of the religious aspects of Sonny s Blues. Sonny s Blues is a modern day rewrite of the

America As A Melting Pot
As soon as someone calls the United States a melting pot, I immediately picture the School House
Rock music video in which hundreds of happy immigrants dive into the pot to swim together in
harmony. The idea of America as a melting pot is, on the surface, a good intentioned metaphor that
carries with it the implication of our unity within one, uniquely American culture. Unfortunately, this
metaphor carries negative connotations as well, including forced assimilation into the majority as you
melt away into the mix. Imagine five pieces of chocolate, one white, added to a heated saucepan;
eventually, it all turns brown. Despite the multiplicity of cultures added to this melting pot, something
is lost in the final product: diversity. In a melting pot, it is suggested that we blend together; we are
indistinct; we are Americans united in one culture, one language, one creed. Simply stated, this is not
an accurate representation of our country s culture or its citizens. I find the stew to be a much more
appropriate metaphor. Even when heated and stirred, a stew maintains its individual elements
(potatoes, beef, onions, carrots, celery, etc.), but also allows for some transfer of flavors. The beef

Gender roles have played a big part of the history of this country and in this new day and age are
becoming more progressive. Women in men gender roles are not at all such a horrendous idea. In
some cases, jobs traditionally performed by men, were done better by female employees but some
some careers are specifically meant for men. Women should not take part in military combat or any
career that carries the same physical demands. Here are two examples accompanied by arguments an
evidence that argue the above statement.
