Biography Report On Isaac Newton
PHYSICS REPORT Melissa Kouamo Physics 2425 Dr. Lee Estep Fall 2016 BIOGRAPHY REPORT
ISAAC NEWTON Among all the scientists I have had a chance to learn about, one of the famous is
known as Isaac Newton, born in 1642 and deceased in 1742. Generally recognized as a physicist, he is
proudly known for his work in a lot of domain such as mathematics, optics and motion which are all
parts of physics. Born prematurely on Christmas day, he was fatherless and barely three years old
when his mom left him as his maternal grandmother s to get remarried and build a second family:
challenging childhood but full of promises. Ten years later his mother Hanna, came back in
Woolsthorpe, his natal town after the dead of her second husband. Despite her long absence, Newton
was still denied of his mom s attention, thus a great contribution to his complex character. Newton s
childhood was anything but happy, and throughout his life he verged on emotional collapse,
occasionally falling into violent and vindictive attacks against friend and foe alike. After his mother
returned to the town, he was forced to quit school and become a farmer, duty that he fortunately failed
to fulfill. This failure led him back to King s school at Grantham where he prepared his entrance to
Trinity College at Cambridge. The bigger challenge was to overcome the farmer live in profit of a
fructuous student life. His life therefore changed when he left Woolsthorpe for Cambridge University.

Pacemaker Impact On Society
Some 400,000 Americans die annually from abnormally fast or irregular heart rhythm, FDA said in
announcing approval of the pacemaker device in February 1993. Since this approval, thousands of
Americans suffering from irregular heart rhythm are able to live a healthy and happy life thanks to this
invention. Because of this small device, symptoms are relieved, lives are longer, and people are able to
live life to the fullest. It s a big breakthrough, said David B. Delurgio, an Emory University
cardiologist. It s not for every heart failure patient, but a proportion could definitely benefit
(Neergaard). Pacemakers have impacted many important aspects of society including the ability to
contribute in the workplace, benefits in the economy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I ve mentioned earlier, symptoms of individuals before pacemaker implantation can be completely
debilitating. Getting a pacemaker can be life changing for people who were never able to experience
life to the fullest beforehand. Statistics show that 68 percent of pacemaker patients reported improved
quality of life, and in this study 579 patients using the pacemaker experienced significant
improvement. One standard heart failure test measures how far patients can walk in six minutes.
Those whose pacemakers were turned on could walk, on average, 58 more yards than patients in a
comparison group whose pacemakers were turned off (Neergaard). With a pacemaker, people who
were never able to travel are now able to. Patients can even have their pacemaker evaluated in almost
any part of the world, and it is safe to pass through airport security checks in the normal fashion
(Wood). They can also help people who have abnormal heart rhythms resume a more active lifestyle,
and participate in sports, etc (medicinenet). Pacemakers are rate responsive, which means it contains a
sensor to detect need for increased rate. Some gauge responses by body movement, a person s
breathing, or even changes in blood temperature. Thus, if a person starts to walk or run, the device
senses the activity and increases the heart rate. Many pacemakers even automatically

The Deployment Of Economic Sanctions On The International...
The deployment of economic sanctions on the international stage by states to influence the behavior of
other states has become the norm in International Relations. Despite the increase in popularity of this
practice over the course of the past century, the question of its efficiency is one that is still debated and
remains unanswered. The idea that putting economic pressures on a country to illicit a certain behavior
or change in behavior from that country works in theory, but in practice, it is more complicated and
does not necessarily work the way that theory suggests it should. Some economists and policy analysts
have taken the approach of deconstructing the subject in order to consider what variable may or may
not affect the efficiency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive sanctions are meant to foster relations between countries. Negative sanctions are intended to
cause another country economic harm. The debate around economic sanctions typically focuses on the
negative kind. Sanctions can be unilateral from one sender country to one target country or
multilateral from multiple countries. Multilateral sanctions can be orchestrated by one main country
supported by other countries, or they can be sent under the auspices of an international organization.
Raul Caruso distinguishes three different kinds of negative sanctions boycotts, embargoes, and
Kassim 3 financial sanctions. A boycott is the restriction of imports from the target country;
embargoes are restrictions on exports to the target country; financial sanctions are restrictions on
investment in the target country (Caruso Should We Set 23). Kaempfer and Lowenberg posit that
economic sanctions can be proposed for the following three reasons: in response to a nation that
threatens the wealth or security of the sender nation; to achieve moral or ideological goals; as a part of
trade policy and commercial relations i.e. in response to tariffs or quotas (Kaempfer 2). The question
of whether or not sanctions are efficient is a difficult one to answer. A major contributing factor to this
difficulty is the lack of a universal standard for gauging success. Analysts create the criteria by which
to judge success, and these criteria are not accepted by

Sam, You Are Receiving A Call
Sam, you are receiving a call, noted Dawn, sighing. Sam. Sam, you need to get up now. Wrapped in
all nine of her tails, Sam had no intention of getting up. By far, her favorite part of Quercasia, at least
in the mornings and at night, was how soft the beds were. For someone who had grown up sleeping on
top of stone with a little hay, the comfort of a bed was a luxury she adored. Nonetheless, her
roommate wasn t all too interested in her stillness. She had a mission, and that mission was to get her
best friend out of bed. Samantha? she asked one more time, If you don t get out of bed, I will do

standing in front of the training hall in only a matter of minutes. Anxiously stepping into the building,
she had no idea as to what would be happening. Other than the fact that Edgar was there, which made
the trip worth it for her, she was totally clueless as to what he was planning. Needless to say, she
stepped into the training hall anyway without a second thought. Spying around the room, she found
Edgar with his sword up, practicing his thrusts with a dummy. He was able to make ten slices with his
cutlass in five seconds, each slice perfectly straight and parallel to the others. His technique was so
perfect that he may as well have been cutting plaid lines into the thing. S Sallo, Edgar? called out
Sam. Edgar turned out, purring so loudly that it could be heard from twenty feet away. Miss Sam! he
called. You re here! Grinning, she ran up to him, her tails flowing around like a sea anemone. Once the
two finally met, they embraced each other, happily sighing. Ever since Victor passed away, they had
barely made contact, but all of their worries melted away. It s so good to see you, Edgar... It s

Attending Catholic School Essay
Attending Catholic school is very important to me especially because I have a lot of very good friends
at Sacred Heart School. For example, my best friend Lucianna is attending Sacred Heart again next
year and I look forward to her company. My teachers and the staff at Sacred Heart are kind, dedicated,
and very nice and I really like our principal Mr. Coyle. Mr. Coyle teaches us that school can be holy,
educational, and fun all at the same time. Everyone at my school teaches us about our Catholic faith,
like the importance of following the ten commandments, our church history such as Peter becoming a
martyr for his faith, and learning a lot prayers such as the Apostles Creed and the Prayer of Saint
Francis. At my Catholic school we go to church every month and we have religion class every day. I
like learning about my faith and that by having religion class on a daily basis, practice makes
permanent. We have special faith activities like our entire school says rosaries together and we have
stations of the cross. We get to wear a uniform, which I think is really pretty, and I do not have to ...

Pros And Cons Of Basel III
Introduction After our throughout research on Basel III regulation and it s pros and cons, our group
came to the conclusion that Basel III indeed made the banking system to become more stable and safe
compared to the time where there is no Basel III regulation. Before we begin to defense our
standpoint, we would like to have a short review of what exactly Basel III is.
Basel III is a regulatory reform measures to improve the banking regulation, supervision and risk
management. Basel III was published in 2009 and mainly because of widespread of credit crisis of
global banking system. Therefore, the banks must maintain sufficient capital and proper leverage at
any point in time. We also know that Basel III is implemented right after Basel I and II, its main
changes are to enhance the stability of banking system when facing financial crisis and economic
downturn. Apart from that, the content of banks risk management and transparency are also
strengthened. The volatility of banking system can thus be reduced through strictly enforced Basel III
standard and requirements.

Evidence-Based Nursing Practice
Running head: EVIDENCE BASED NURSING PRACTICE
Evidence Based Nursing Practice
Karen Medley
Walden University
NURS 4000 Section 05, Research and Scholarship for Evidence Based Practice)
July 22, 2012
Abstract
For patients that have indwelling catheters, with the evidence based practice and standards of care,
UTI s does still continue to be an ongoing problem today. In one of the large hospitals in my area had
recently developed a poster and video approach with special focus on alternatives to urinary
catheterization, removing catheters early, and the reinforcement of sterile technique prior insertion and
foley catheter care were used to educate nursing staff and improve outcomes. The purpose of this
paper is to educate nursing on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lower income communities are probably more affected. The cost of a single episode to treat UTI s
ranges from $980 $2900, depending on the presence of the bacteremia (Saint, 2000).
Differences in care based on evidence Sterile technique is required for insertion of an indwelling
urinary catheter in the hospital setting, but clean technique can be used for intermittent catheterization
in non acute settings. By itself, sterile technique on insertion doesn t prevent UTI s. Prevention of UTI
s depends on knowledge of causes, proper care techniques, and early catheter removal. Nurses are
taught early on in school that sterile technique helps to reduce infections. It was drilled in our heads
the entire time and now to have the evidence tell us that early catheter removal, along with proper
technique good hand hygiene is the key to reduce UTI s.
Summary
UTI s is an all too common problem that causes unnecessary distress to patients and delays their
recovery during their hospital stay. All healthcare professionals should adhere to these good practice
points that could reduce the risk of UTI s and assure staff that they are demonstrating best practice in
their care.

The Outsourcing Of Blackberry s Public Image
Company Profile
BlackBerry, previously known as Research in Motion (RIM), is a global company in the
telecommunications industry. Founded in 1984, the company saw huge success in the early age of the
smart phones. The company offers various cell phone related devices as well as enterprise services,
including security. Although BlackBerry s cell phone success has dwindled in current years, its new
CEO, John Chen, has made steps to improve profits and change the company s focus to enterprise
software suites and security.
Problems
Minimal Market Share
BlackBerry s Market Share has been reduced to less than 1%. In an industry dominated by two major
companies, BlackBerry is highly unlikely to gain a larger percentage of the market,
Outdated Perceptions of BlackBerry
BlackBerry s public image is outdated. Many people think of BlackBerry as a failed cell phone OS
company, especially with recent news of disabled Facebook support on its devices after 2016.
Solutions
Overhaul Branding Strategy
BlackBerry has a lot of value enterprise software suites. Many do not realize the company s has a
successful global reach. BlackBerry needs to revamp its brand to highlight its security expertise,
including its new cybersecurity service following the acquisition of UK based Encription Ltd.
BlackBerry s image should focus on appealing to the services it provides on an enterprise level. A
rebranding will allow business customers and investors alike to see the value BlackBerry provides.

Critique of Provisions for Definitions of
Organized Crime
CARLO CAVALIERE

OCTOBER 1ST 2014 Defining organized crime has proven to be a general difficulty throughout
history. The belief of this paper is that definition is crucial, however, at the same time one should
identify that within the scope of organized crime, definition has been quite subjective and
controversial. The reason why it is important is because the exact way in which organized crime is
defined goes a significant distance in determining how legislation and laws are constructed, how
research studies are completed, how examinations and prosecutions are coordinated, and lastly, how

The Criminal Code identifies that the disguised illegal proceeds are deemed money laundering, if, the
criminal acts were committed within Canada. Although other sections of the Criminal Code address
importation of illegal monies, if done successfully ones cannot be successfully charged with money
laundering, proving the existence of a possible loophole within the definition. This section can always
be challenged within section 7 principle of fundamental justice. This is because a major part of
discovering money laundering is focused around business that have their privacy comfort interrupted.
Section 462.32(1) of the Criminal Code entitled searc and seizure of proceeds of crime deals with
search warrants in regards to locations where authorities believe that assets or monies of illegal
activities are located. The major thing to note within this section is that the law has supreme power
over the citizens in which it governs, due to the fact that at any time, with sufficient evidence,
whatever that may be, authorities can suspend your rights as a citizen and search your property. The
only section, beyond sections that deal with privacy within the Charter that can be invoked, is that of
section 8, which is illegal search and seizure. Essentially this means that there was a lack of evidence
to attain a search warrant or the

Tsar Nicholas II’s Abdication was Preventable
Tsar Nicholas II s abdication in February 1917 was an event that both he could have prevented,
however a number of factors meant it was out of his control. A revolution in Russia was inevitable and
Nicolas was hapless to have been crowed a time of liberation; however his personality traits and
actions lead to abdication in February 1917. Nicholas lack of political understanding was a constant
delimitative factor throughout his rule, especially regarding Russia revolutionary stance, the Russo
Japanese War, the 1905 revolution, The October Manifesto, Russia s participation in World War and
the influencing factors of his wife and Gerogery Rasputin. Which lead to the question, was it Nicholas
alone that led to his abdication in February 1917 or was it is combination of influencing factors?
By 1894, Russia was economically and socially backwards, needing a ruler who could guide them to
modernisation and reform, without this a revolution is inevitable. Due to its proximity, Westernisers
were contrasting their lifestyle to that of the Europeans post industrialisation, identifying clear
injustices in their society. Literary critic Belinsky explains Everything great, noble , human and
spiritual came up, grew, burst into splendid bloom and brought fourth sumptuous fruit on European
soil (after the industrial revolution) Russians never had much to contrast their lifestyle to, however the
boom of Europe proposed an idea of an alternation which could be achieved in Russia. This

Compare And Contrast The Four Careers In Anthropology
Archaeologists are those who study past human cultures and behaviors. They examine material
remains of previous human societies, which include human fossils, food remains, ruins, and also
things like tools, pottery, and jewelry. Archaeologists try to reconstruct the past from their studies.
Anthropology is the comparative study of human societies and cultures and their development.
Anthropology looks for the basis of behavior that applies to the entire populace. There are four
primary fields of anthropology which are biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, linguistic

Plea Bargain
Over the years plea bargaining has become the way for the Administration of Justice in America and
Canada s criminal trials. Accused criminals are giving up the rights to a fair trial, to indeed plead
guilty, in order to receive a much lesser charge, more comfortable prison, or even to agree to testify
against someone else. Fewer than ten percent of criminal cases brought up by the federal government
even make it to the federal courts to be tried before juries each year. According to one legal scholar,
every two seconds during a typical workday, a criminal case is disposed of in an American courtroom
by way of a guilty plea or nolo contendere plea (Lynch, par. 1). Which ultimately means more than
ninety percent of criminal cases are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6). This would leave the court system plenty behind and nearly almost impossible to attend to each
case. Plea bargaining is essential to court cases and must be done (Emerick), stated attorney Samuel
Buccero. The court is not set up to have multiple trials. The dockets are set up to be done in less than
an hour (Emerick), Buccero said.
Plea bargaining may have advantages in America s and Canada s Justice System, but it also proposes
an advantage for the accused criminal. It gives the defendant the opportunity to reduce sentence and
provide a better, more comfortable stay in correctional facilities. It gives the opportunity for guilty
criminals, who know a guilty sentence will be there if facing a jury, to plead guilty to the case for one
s own benefits. Rather than spending time presenting a losing case in front of a judge and jury, and
losing plenty of money in court fees, the case can be wrapped up in a matter of agreement. Guilty
defendants seem to be in a win win situation and can use plea bargaining as a total advantage.
While plea bargaining proposes plenty of advantages through the court of law in America and Canada,
it shows some disadvantages as well. First off, plea bargaining seems unlawful to many. Every
American is entitled to a right to a fair trial by the court of law. Giving the opportunity to plea bargain
is taking away from those constitutional rights. Defendants

The Essence of the Otavalo Essay
The Essence of the Otavalo
In our modern era and by our modern standards, the Otavalo people of Ecuador shine with scintillating
success in the global arena. A myriad of factors have contributed to Otavalo prosperity and wealth,
factors both outside and within their control, but factors nonetheless dependent upon the fluidity and
ever changing construct of indigenous identity. Tracing the saga of this indigenous people s rise to
textile, musical and cultural capital, the opportunistic attitude of the Otavalo remains the foundation
for modern wealth and commerce. The true question of Otavalo success, however, rests not in

Unusual indigenous sponsorship by NGOs and developmental agencies throughout the 1970s paid
expenses and helped Otavalos obtain passports and visas (74). These initial journeys raised awareness
of business potential overseas, and laid the groundwork for future visits and sales, eventually giving
way to the interconnected global marketplace of today. Contemporary Otavalo immigrate significantly
to every country except Antarctica (44). Exhibiting business smarts and know how, the Otavalo
naturally shift most household energies towards textile production and sales to reinforce the extensive
international potential of their perceived culture (46).
Naturally, as Otavalos have been producing trade for millennia and regularly create new products , the
entrepreneurial spirit of the Otavalo global textile and musical industry is by no means novel (98). The
intrinsically solid nucleus of family and compadrazgo, or co parenthood, emphasizes constant support

whatever foreign expectations they encounter. Romanticizing the Otavalo has proved to be a tool of

Thummim Symbolism In The Alchemist
Often times when having to read a book for a class it s assumed that you won t get much out of it, but
that s not been the case as I read The Alchemist, by Paul Coelho, 1993. One of the most interesting
aspects of the read is that it was so relatable in many ways. I found myself empathizing with
characters and plugging into all the different scenes taking place. Amongst all of the bigger picture
themes I chose to write about the stones Urim and Thummim ironically because they re literally like
the hidden gems throughout the book. The stones played a role that I felt was quite overlooked from
discussion with my peers so I chose to write about how important the stones were in the book and how
I interpreted them fully.

Ballard. Zheng He was a mariner, explorer and admiral during China s Ming Dynasty. Zheng He was
from a Chinese Muslim family. He was captured at an early age, castrated, and sent to the army as as
orderlies. Zheng He became a great influence in the Yongle court and soon after he ascended the
throne and was given the name Zheng. He first set sail in 1405 and died in the spring of 1433
completing a total of seven exped itions. Zheng He is also considered to be the world s most important
crossroad of trade. Zheng He was quite successful and accomplished the goal of his voyages and
extended the wealth and power of China over a vast realm.
China had yet to be part of the Age of Exploration. Two years after Zheng He s third expedition, he set
sail again in 1413 on his most ambitious expedition yet. The objective of this expedition was to reach
Hormuz and bring the riches back to the emperor so he could refurbish his new capital city ... Show

I believe that many scientific principles affected the exploration such as weather, climate but mostly
technology affected Zheng He s expedition. China was very advanced in navigation technology at the
time. Various advanced technologies of the time were used by Zheng He to successfully complete his
expeditions. He inherited the practice of previous navigators in Chinese History and assimilated their
Ocean Knowledge (Ding, Shi, Weintrit, 2016). Zheng He used the Haido Zhengjing (a kind of
navigation manual) and Guoyang Qianxing Shu (Star Orientation) to navigate in the Ocean. Zheng He
used compass to guide through the Ocean in the right direction, and made use of the star observation
to keep course at night. Having solved problems such as fresh water this allowed him to sail even
more smoothly. Shipbuilding technology was also a great influence on his

A Bodybuilding Subculture Essay
Eng. 1400
Dr. DuBose
The History and Evolution of a Huge Subculture
Many subcultures have derived since the beginning of time. They could be classified through religion,
culture, style, outlook on life and many other aspects. The one subculture that has grown
tremendously through out time is a very hard one to notice as a subculture opposed to a sport. Its said
that bodybuilding started way back in the times of great philosophers like Plato who believed that a
man should strive for a balance between mind and body and that there should be harmony between the
two. Also Plato believed with out a well conditioned body the mind would ultimately suffer. Taken
into aspect obviously someone perused the great words of a historic ... Show more content on

Also like all subcultures you have levels as to where you consider yourself in the culture and one man
of all could consider himself the beset of the Europe side, the American side, and the whole culture in
general and that man is still known very well today and goes by the name Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was known greatly around the entire world for his amazing body and ability
to almost win every competition he was entered in. When entering the bodybuilding scene in nineteen
sixty six Schwarzenegger started off his success in bodybuilding in sixty seven when he beat Dennis
Tinerino in the Mr. America. Schwarzenegger kept striving for excellence and winning many
competitions but by the nineteen eighties and nineties men like Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbo,
and Frank Zane were slowly being defeated with no problem by the new age of modern bodybuilding.
Today s modern bodybuilders opposed to the bodybuilders of the sixties and seventies look like they
have evolved from some enormous inhuman creature with amazing genes. Looking at the average size
and body fat percentages of old school bodybuilders they weighed somewhere between one hundred
and eighty to two hundred and twenty pounds. Now if you compare that to today s bodybuilders
weighing in at somewhere between two hundred fifty and three hundred pounds it makes you think

Wilson And Myrtle s Power In The Great Gatsby
Secrets can serve as powerful weapons, which Fitzgerald proves to be true throughout the novel and
Chapter Eight in particular. Daisy is the one driving the yellow car when it fatally hits Myrtle.
Although Daisy chooses to be with Tom over Gatsby, Gatsby still protects her. He lets Tom and
eventually Wilson think that he was the one driving, and Daisy does not tell anyone that she was the
one actually driving the car when it struck Myrtle. The only other person who knows who was really
driving the car is Nick, who does not tell anyone that Daisy was the one driving. Wilson is furious that
his wife is dead and also that she cheated on him, and seeks revenge for Myrtle s death. Wilson thinks

Wilson had no friends, and his only true relationship was with Myrtle. However, she did not love him,
and was cheating on him with Tom. Wilson also thought that Gatsby was the one who was in a
relationship with Myrtle, and that he is the one who killed Myrtle. I find it interesting and disturbing
the lengths the characters went to either protect the ones they love, or to keep themselves from being
alone. Gatsby was in love with Daisy, and did not cease to protect her even after she chose to be with
Tom. He did not want Daisy to get in trouble for killing Myrtle, and would rather take the blame than
have Daisy face the consequences of her actions. However, I am not sure if Gatsby did this because he
loved her, or because he was still clinging onto the hope that Daisy would choose to be with him.
Gatsby loved Daisy, but I also believe he did not want to be

A Separate Peace Vs Dead Poets Society
After reading the novel A Separate Peace and watching the movie Dead Poets Society, many
similarities and differences are brought into view. Some similarities between the two are that in both
stories the boys are affected by a classmate s death, the boys are in secret societies, and the boys
decisions are made because of the influences of outside pressures. The differences between A Separate
Peace and Dead Poets Society are the relations within the stories, the time periods the stories are set
in, and the situations the boys are put in throughout the story. The book A Separate Peace and movie

The outside pressures were the main reasons the boys acted out the way they did. An example is in
Dead Poets Society, Neil had wanted to take an easier class at the beginning of the school year, but his
father had rejected the idea. When Neil s father also did this with his want to become an actor, it
resulted in Neil taking his own life. The boys in Dead Poets Society were forced to do whatever their
parents wanted them to do. The pressures in A Separate Peace are different, but they are still pressures
that impact the way these boys act and think. One very important pressure in the novel A Separate
Peace is the war. The war played such a crucial event throughout the story because it was the main
reason they were all fidgety and worried at times, they never wanted to be drafted into the war. Even
though they knew they did not want to be in the war, they would go in a patriotic way if they had to.
This also lead to another problem with outside pressure. Finny was not physically able to be drafted
into any force, whether it be American or not. In the novel A Separate Peace, Finny states on page 190,
They all gave me the same answer after they saw the medical report on me. The answer was no soap.
We can t use you . This was all because of his disability with the broken leg, Finny s own leg was the
issue. This caused him to be pressured because he could not do the right, patriotic thing

Attending An Informational Protest Here At Siena College
For this event paper, I decided to attend an informational protest here at Siena College. To bring
awareness to domestic violence in our society, Siena College hosted the One Billion Rising
Revolution in the Sarazen Student Union on February 12th, 2016. One Billion Rising is one of the
biggest revolutions intended to end violence against women in the world. Many people around the
world come together to express their opinions, dance, and rise up against domestic violence. At this
event many different dance teams at Siena College were asked to send ten of their dancers to this
event to perform. Out of twenty girls on the team, I volunteered to learn a short dance and perform it
for a good cause. The One Billion Rising Revolution connects to the theme Diversity, and the article
Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway? by Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F. Jacobs because
they prove that diversity is important when bringing awareness to a certain cause, because it helps
promote worldliness to understand the multiple perspectives and experiences of different kinds of
people
I chose to go to this event because I was interested in learning about domestic violence. This is a topic
I ve learned a little about in high school, but I ve never had the opportunity to learn about it first hand
from an professional speaker. At this event, Siena invited a speaker to come and talk about the issue of
domestic violence against women around the world. After her thirty minute presentation,

Taking a Look at the Earth s Biosphere
The Earth s biosphere is considered to be the most inclusive layer on the planet; simply put, the
biosphere is where life happens. What makes the biosphere so exceptional is the fact that there is no
record of life existing anywhere else in space. All of the organisms that inhibit the biosphere impact it
in some way. However, humans have the largest impact on the biosphere through the means of
industrialization, reproduction, and consumption. As with all of the other organisms inhibiting the
biosphere, humans have basic needs in order to thrive. We need habitats, protection, reproductive
success, and sustenance. However, unlike other organisms, we have proclivities that span beyond the
essential tools needed to survive. We have the unique gift of insight, and with it, the ability to innovate
beyond the parameters of any other species on the planet. From the use of fire to the invention of the
smartphone, there is a continuum of technological advances.
In today s industrialized societies, these technological conveniences have become vital in order for
one to compete for resources. With this dependency, comes a cost, and it threatens the very system
that supports life on earth. In North America, 700,000 tons of air pollution is released into the
atmosphere every day (Biology). This stems from the use of fuel burning transportation, product
manufacturing, and mining. There are two main classes of air pollution, particles and gases. The

What A Time To Be Alive Analysis
This was a year to remember to quote the infamous Drake What a Time to be Alive . The year started
with me working the 2015 BET Honors my first time working that particular show. It was actually the
first show I wanted to work when first beginning this journey, so it was a full circle moment to get that
particular call and to meet Phylicia Rashad someone who I had looked up to for so many years just

That led to working production on Black Girls Rock traveling to New Jersey solo, staying with my
brother all for the dream. My first extended show. This five days were heaven having a call time,
getting to know the venue staff, BET Producers and Coordinators. I d done by now two BET Awards

there that I was hungry and willing to do what it takes to go to accomplish the task. Icing on the cake

Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich Essay
Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich
Edvard Munch is looked upon as one of the most significant influences on the development of
expressionism. Edvard Munch was quoted as saying We want more than a mere photograph of nature.
We do not want to paint pretty pictures to be hung on drawing room walls. We want to create, or at
least lay the foundations of, an art that gives something to humanity. An art that arrests and engages.
An art created of one s innermost heart. I believe in The Scream Munch did just as he said.
The expressionism period was a movement to invoke emotions through art work. In The Scream
Munch stirs up emotions through his heavy brush work and the use of unnatural colors. The use of red

In 1908, Munch had a nervous breakdown, a culmination of his anxiety and fears going all the way
back to his childhood. During the years pervious to this he had experienced some of the most extreme
emotions humans can. At age 5, his mother died and at 14 , his favorite sister, Sophie dies as well.
Tuberculosis entered his childhood bring him horrid visions of death, pain, paranoia, and despair.
It was with these emotions Munch eventually, in 1893, brought to the canvas of The Scream. He tried
to create the all encompassing emotion of total complete undeniable despair. When all hope is gone;
when death is eventual; when the world seems to be completely aganist you and there is nothing you
can do about any of it. The Scream displays the despair of life as he had experienced one day while
walking with his friends. As he has written himself I was walking along the road with two friends. The
sun set. I felt a tinge of melancholy. Suddenly the sky became a bloody red. I stopped, leaned aganist
the railing, dead tired, and I looked at the flaming clouds that hung like blood and a sword over the
blue black fjord and the city. My friends walked on. I stood there, trembling with fright. And I felt a
loud, unending scream piercing nature.
How did Munch achieve sunch an enormously disturbing effect? Looking at it we see a deformed

The Future of the Hoverboard
Research Question: Is it possible to make the hoverboard even more convenient by using extra wheels
and more inventions?
Problem and Application: The new invention of the hoverboard has amazed people and this self
balancing scooter is amusing. The hoverboard is a self balancing scooter that could be dangerous or
hard to use. I think that people want to make the it easier to use and more convenient. It is important to
make a new innovative hoverboard because the the original hoverboard causes many injuries and the
new invention will prevent those injuries. Secondly, there is a huge problem in hoverboard safety
issues because the internet has portrayed videos on people falling. The problem is more than
significant because people are being taken to the hospital and companies are not selling because of the
safety issues. It is more beneficial to have a safer design so there is no more injuries. A question that I
will have testing the innovative hoverboard design is if I should add extra wheels to my design. Also I
cannot touch the hoverboard s technology so I will have to find a way to make it safer to use.
However, the innovative self balancing scooter has some cons like blowning up across the globe and
its durability on roads. There is no gas involved with the hoverboard and is eco friendly. An average
hoverboard takes 3 4 hours to fully charge. It will help the

Unnatural Events In Macbeth Essay
Macbeth, a once courageous warrior, consequently became a tyrant dictating over the people of
Scotland. His tragic flaw, ambition, forces him to become power hungry leading to his decision to
murder King Duncan. This sends the kingdom into an immediate spiral of unnatural events and
eventually leads to an upset of political and social discombobulation. The severed link between King
Duncan and God ultimately changes the kingdom of Scotland from a prosperous country into a
kingdom ruled by fear. Macbeth, a thrilling tragedy, is more than a tragic play, but rather a story of
ramifications caused by the severed link between God and King Duncan, which is shown through
unnatural events, social upset, and political reign. Directly after the ... Show more content on

This power, Macbeth gains leads to his intense paranoia, which eventually deteriorates his entire
persona. Macbeth begins to hire murders to kill anyone who questions him or is seen as a threat to the
king. This leads to many deaths such as Banquo, Macduff s family, and more. During the murder of
Banquo, his son Fleance escapes and the news that there s one down, [and] the son fled travels to
Macbeth making him even more paranoid (pg 97). Later he proceeds to hire another set of murders to
kill Macduff s entire family, in order to stop him from trying to overthrow him. Macbeth becomes
very violent and the entire kingdom of Scotland slips into uneasiness. The people of Scotland become
sacred and anxious that Scotland is not a safe country, negatively affecting the social aspect of the
kingdom. With everyone on the edge of the next turn of events, Macbeth s reign alters the community
s perspective of the Thane of Cawdor. With the entire country of Scotland submerged in fear, Macbeth
does a poor job of dealing with politics. Once he becomes the Thane of Cawdor he does not deal with
political issues in the correct manner. With his spontaneous actions he is quick to solve issues with
violence and murder rather than logical solutions. Macbeth s lack of political reign proves to be very
disheartening for Scotland. In one instance when Malcom and Macduff are talking about the hurt
Macbeth is causing Scotland, Malcom

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sealed Bidding By Procurement
Procurement by public entities is guided by primary law principles of transparency, equal treatment
and non discrimination, procurement laws sets up an extensive legal framework regarding the
procurement of work, supply and service contracts. There are two main reasons for the use of specific
procedures i.e. why contracting authorities do not just negotiate or simply buy from the closest
supplier. First, it provides for more public accountability and therefore less cases of corruption
practices. Additionally, tendering procedures aim to ensure the best value for money by making it
necessary for suppliers to act highly competitive. As a result, market mechanisms will help in
facilitating the best possible practices. In situations where market mechanisms are not effective, tender
procedures might lose their effectiveness as well. If for example there is lack of competition due to
certain complexities or as a result of lower bidder interest, negotiations with just one or two suppliers
may be the most efficient manner to handle the process. Therefore, we discuss the inherent advantages
and disadvantages of sealed bidding and contracting by negotiation as procedural frameworks for
tendering.
Sealed bidding
Sealed bidding is a procurement method used when the best value is expected to result from the
selection of the lowest evaluated offer. Generally competitive sealed bidding are used to procure
supplies and services except when price is not the determinative element in the

Essay on The Character of Hamlet in William Shakespeare s...
The Character of Hamlet in William Shakespeare s Play
Some critics have stated that the appeal of Hamlet to the audience is his many human weaknesses, the
most notable being his indecision. His deliberations and procrastinations are particularly high lighted
when he is faced with the task of revenge. The law and Christianity, around the early seventeenth
century, were clear in condemning personal revenge as an attempt by man to arrogate the prerogatives
of God. Hamlet s contradicting feelings toward avenging his father and avoiding breaking the law and
going against Christianity were most likely felt by the Elizabethan audience also, which would have
been made up of many Christians, namely, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would be scann d: A villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this same villain send
to heaven.[3]
In this scene, Hamlet discovers Claudius praying; shows a will to perform his task of revenge, and yet
he is unable to go through with it. Hamlet enters to find Claudius with his back to Hamlet. Tension is
created within the audience, as the scene is portrayed as if the king is preparing for his execution, on
his knees, praying, although he is unaware Hamlet is behind him with his sword drawn. It is the
perfect opportunity, yet Hamlet deliberates. The scene results in an anti climax, with Shakespeare
creating drama with his will he, won t he tactic with regards to Hamlet.
I believe this is a prominent example of Hamlet s inability to take action. Hamlet never receives any
indication from Claudius that he regrets the death of Hamlet s father, and by killing him, would send
him to heaven. I think it most likely that Hamlet creates his own doubts, or excuses, as to delay with
the revenge of his father. It could also be possible that Hamlet is fearful of the consequences of his act
of vengeance. In Antonio s revenge and The revenger s tragedy , the criminal is also the ruler. As was
with these, the protagonist may be merely afraid of the consequences of treason.

Effects Of Divorce On The Workplace

Effects of Divorce
On average in America 45 percent of marriages end in divorce. Divorce does not only affect the
parties involved; it also affects the children involved. In America, 40 percent of children will see and
experience divorce first hand alongside of their parents. Divorce is one of the most stressful events a
family can undergo. On average, 80 percent of children will be placed in the primary care of one
parent. Often times the parent that receives primary custody of the child or children are the biological
mother (Hopf, Sarah Marie). Divorce has many effects on different factors of a children s lives. Many
children are affected by divorce: divorce effects: 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Divorce in turn also negatively impacts the children s education. Children often have a set schedule of
when they will be at their mother s home, and when they will be at their father s home. When children
have to go back and forth between two homes they often experience a fall in their overall grades.
When children are going from one home to the next, they often have a hard time adjusting to the
different environments of the homes. This can make it difficult for the children to study or complete
their academic materials (Fagan Patrick F., and Robert Rector). Studies show children who have
divorced parents are twice as likely to repeat a grade or grades. The children are also five times more
likely to be expelled or suspended from school. They are twice as likely to drop out of high school,
which makes it less likely for them to attend college (Effects of Divorce on Children s Education).
Divorce also has a negative impact on a family s income. Children who have married parents, who
both work, have an average income of about $43,600 a year. When children are in a divorced family
with only one working parents, the family has an average income of about $25,300 a year. Families
who have faced divorce also face a higher risk of living in poverty. When a family is faced with
divorce the family will more than likely move into poverty due to the loss of one parent s income. On
average

  • 5. Biography Report On Isaac Newton PHYSICS REPORT Melissa Kouamo Physics 2425 Dr. Lee Estep Fall 2016 BIOGRAPHY REPORT ISAAC NEWTON Among all the scientists I have had a chance to learn about, one of the famous is known as Isaac Newton, born in 1642 and deceased in 1742. Generally recognized as a physicist, he is proudly known for his work in a lot of domain such as mathematics, optics and motion which are all parts of physics. Born prematurely on Christmas day, he was fatherless and barely three years old when his mom left him as his maternal grandmother s to get remarried and build a second family: challenging childhood but full of promises. Ten years later his mother Hanna, came back in Woolsthorpe, his natal town after the dead of her second husband. Despite her long absence, Newton was still denied of his mom s attention, thus a great contribution to his complex character. Newton s childhood was anything but happy, and throughout his life he verged on emotional collapse, occasionally falling into violent and vindictive attacks against friend and foe alike. After his mother returned to the town, he was forced to quit school and become a farmer, duty that he fortunately failed to fulfill. This failure led him back to King s school at Grantham where he prepared his entrance to Trinity College at Cambridge. The bigger challenge was to overcome the farmer live in profit of a fructuous student life. His life therefore changed when he left Woolsthorpe for Cambridge University. Little is known of Newton ... • 6. Pacemaker Impact On Society Some 400,000 Americans die annually from abnormally fast or irregular heart rhythm, FDA said in announcing approval of the pacemaker device in February 1993. Since this approval, thousands of Americans suffering from irregular heart rhythm are able to live a healthy and happy life thanks to this invention. Because of this small device, symptoms are relieved, lives are longer, and people are able to live life to the fullest. It s a big breakthrough, said David B. Delurgio, an Emory University cardiologist. It s not for every heart failure patient, but a proportion could definitely benefit (Neergaard). Pacemakers have impacted many important aspects of society including the ability to contribute in the workplace, benefits in the economy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I ve mentioned earlier, symptoms of individuals before pacemaker implantation can be completely debilitating. Getting a pacemaker can be life changing for people who were never able to experience life to the fullest beforehand. Statistics show that 68 percent of pacemaker patients reported improved quality of life, and in this study 579 patients using the pacemaker experienced significant improvement. One standard heart failure test measures how far patients can walk in six minutes. Those whose pacemakers were turned on could walk, on average, 58 more yards than patients in a comparison group whose pacemakers were turned off (Neergaard). With a pacemaker, people who were never able to travel are now able to. Patients can even have their pacemaker evaluated in almost any part of the world, and it is safe to pass through airport security checks in the normal fashion (Wood). They can also help people who have abnormal heart rhythms resume a more active lifestyle, and participate in sports, etc (medicinenet). Pacemakers are rate responsive, which means it contains a sensor to detect need for increased rate. Some gauge responses by body movement, a person s breathing, or even changes in blood temperature. Thus, if a person starts to walk or run, the device senses the activity and increases the heart rate. Many pacemakers even automatically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Deployment Of Economic Sanctions On The International... The deployment of economic sanctions on the international stage by states to influence the behavior of other states has become the norm in International Relations. Despite the increase in popularity of this practice over the course of the past century, the question of its efficiency is one that is still debated and remains unanswered. The idea that putting economic pressures on a country to illicit a certain behavior or change in behavior from that country works in theory, but in practice, it is more complicated and does not necessarily work the way that theory suggests it should. Some economists and policy analysts have taken the approach of deconstructing the subject in order to consider what variable may or may not affect the efficiency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Positive sanctions are meant to foster relations between countries. Negative sanctions are intended to cause another country economic harm. The debate around economic sanctions typically focuses on the negative kind. Sanctions can be unilateral from one sender country to one target country or multilateral from multiple countries. Multilateral sanctions can be orchestrated by one main country supported by other countries, or they can be sent under the auspices of an international organization. Raul Caruso distinguishes three different kinds of negative sanctions boycotts, embargoes, and Kassim 3 financial sanctions. A boycott is the restriction of imports from the target country; embargoes are restrictions on exports to the target country; financial sanctions are restrictions on investment in the target country (Caruso Should We Set 23). Kaempfer and Lowenberg posit that economic sanctions can be proposed for the following three reasons: in response to a nation that threatens the wealth or security of the sender nation; to achieve moral or ideological goals; as a part of trade policy and commercial relations i.e. in response to tariffs or quotas (Kaempfer 2). The question of whether or not sanctions are efficient is a difficult one to answer. A major contributing factor to this difficulty is the lack of a universal standard for gauging success. Analysts create the criteria by which to judge success, and these criteria are not accepted by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Sam, You Are Receiving A Call Sam, you are receiving a call, noted Dawn, sighing. Sam. Sam, you need to get up now. Wrapped in all nine of her tails, Sam had no intention of getting up. By far, her favorite part of Quercasia, at least in the mornings and at night, was how soft the beds were. For someone who had grown up sleeping on top of stone with a little hay, the comfort of a bed was a luxury she adored. Nonetheless, her roommate wasn t all too interested in her stillness. She had a mission, and that mission was to get her best friend out of bed. Samantha? she asked one more time, If you don t get out of bed, I will do something you won t like. After having shoved half of a waffle drowning in maple syrup down her throat, she said her goodbyes to Dawn and was out of the house. Heading off for the nearby trolley, she discovered that she was standing in front of the training hall in only a matter of minutes. Anxiously stepping into the building, she had no idea as to what would be happening. Other than the fact that Edgar was there, which made the trip worth it for her, she was totally clueless as to what he was planning. Needless to say, she stepped into the training hall anyway without a second thought. Spying around the room, she found Edgar with his sword up, practicing his thrusts with a dummy. He was able to make ten slices with his cutlass in five seconds, each slice perfectly straight and parallel to the others. His technique was so perfect that he may as well have been cutting plaid lines into the thing. S Sallo, Edgar? called out Sam. Edgar turned out, purring so loudly that it could be heard from twenty feet away. Miss Sam! he called. You re here! Grinning, she ran up to him, her tails flowing around like a sea anemone. Once the two finally met, they embraced each other, happily sighing. Ever since Victor passed away, they had barely made contact, but all of their worries melted away. • 9. Attending Catholic School Essay Attending Catholic school is very important to me especially because I have a lot of very good friends at Sacred Heart School. For example, my best friend Lucianna is attending Sacred Heart again next year and I look forward to her company. My teachers and the staff at Sacred Heart are kind, dedicated, and very nice and I really like our principal Mr. Coyle. Mr. Coyle teaches us that school can be holy, educational, and fun all at the same time. Everyone at my school teaches us about our Catholic faith, like the importance of following the ten commandments, our church history such as Peter becoming a martyr for his faith, and learning a lot prayers such as the Apostles Creed and the Prayer of Saint Francis. Plea bargaining may have advantages in America s and Canada s Justice System, but it also proposes an advantage for the accused criminal. It gives the opportunity for guilty criminals, who know a guilty sentence will be there if facing a jury, to plead guilty to the case for one s own benefits. • 31. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sealed Bidding By Procurement Procurement by public entities is guided by primary law principles of transparency, equal treatment and non discrimination, procurement laws sets up an extensive legal framework regarding the procurement of work, supply and service contracts. There are two main reasons for the use of specific procedures i.e. why contracting authorities do not just negotiate or simply buy from the closest supplier. First, it provides for more public accountability and therefore less cases of corruption practices. Additionally, tendering procedures aim to ensure the best value for money by making it necessary for suppliers to act highly competitive. As a result, market mechanisms will help in facilitating the best possible practices. In situations where market mechanisms are not effective, tender procedures might lose their effectiveness as well. If for example there is lack of competition due to certain complexities or as a result of lower bidder interest, negotiations with just one or two suppliers may be the most efficient manner to handle the process. The Character of Hamlet in William Shakespeare s Play Some critics have stated that the appeal of Hamlet to the audience is his many human weaknesses, the most notable being his indecision. His deliberations and procrastinations are particularly high lighted when he is faced with the task of revenge. The law and Christianity, around the early seventeenth century, were clear in condemning personal revenge as an attempt by man to arrogate the prerogatives of God. That would be scann d: A villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven.[3] In this scene, Hamlet discovers Claudius praying; shows a will to perform his task of revenge, and yet he is unable to go through with it. Hamlet enters to find Claudius with his back to Hamlet. Tension is created within the audience, as the scene is portrayed as if the king is preparing for his execution, on his knees, praying, although he is unaware Hamlet is behind him with his sword drawn. It is the perfect opportunity, yet Hamlet deliberates. The scene results in an anti climax, with Shakespeare creating drama with his will he, won t he tactic with regards to Hamlet. I believe this is a prominent example of Hamlet s inability to take action. Hamlet never receives any indication from Claudius that he regrets the death of Hamlet s father, and by killing him, would send him to heaven. I think it most likely that Hamlet creates his own doubts, or excuses, as to delay with the revenge of his father. It could also be possible that Hamlet is fearful of the consequences of his act of vengeance. In Antonio s revenge and The revenger s tragedy , the criminal is also the ruler. As was with these, the protagonist may be merely afraid of the consequences of treason. The first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
