Mergers and Acquisition
Do Mergers and Acquisitions always bring desired results? Individual Assignment
[pic] [pic] [pic]
Student Name: Mandeep Kaur (10211855) Module Leader: Simeon Scott Course: MA IBM
Introduction: For my research topic I have chosen this topic to analyse and to investigate about the
mergers and acquisitions of organisations. Do these mergers and acquisitions always bring desired
results or not. Mergers and acquisitions are very common and occur everywhere i.e. in organizations,
administrative units and businesses in all industries and of all sizes specially in banking sector and in
pharmaceutical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example when a manufacture company buy or merge with another component maker company,
called a vertical merge (Stacey, 1970:33).
Literature review: Different tools and techniques in the forms of ratio analysis etc. are used by
scholars to identify the effects of mergers and acquisitions and interestingly different results are there
in the market. Performance can be measured on the basis of long term and short term time period; long
term performance can be checked on the basis of profitability of the firm. Fundamental analysis of the
company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008)
Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be
worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two
business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present value
of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from combining
(Samuels, wilikes and brayshaw, 1996).
Acquisitions as transformation category:
As compared with other types of transformation in a company, the characteristics of an acquisition is
that it can include almost all other transformation categories. The employees in the acquired
organization must go through a number of technical changes: new frame of reference, new
organization, new business model, new rules and processes, different working conditions, privileges,

Importance Of Travel To Travel Essay
Family, new experiences and memories are three things I get from buying a ticket to travel. Buying a
ticket to travel outside the country can open so many doors and can teach you a lot from the other
places you visit. My whole life I have been traveling in and out of mexico and that is my favorite
place to go. Growing up getting use to going to Mexico I paid little attention to what was actually
going on when i would travel. Traveling truly meant getting away from reality, having freedom, and
getting to know yourself better. These three things have been developing every time i would travel and
will continue every single time i continue to repeat the pattern. Many new possibilities can appear just
by buying a single ticket that can help you view everything differently in a matter of time.
Getting the news from my parents that they had already bought the flight tickets was almost as
important as the day of actually getting there. I remember my favorite part was being able to see the
ticket that gave me motivation to perform my best at everything I did the last couple of days that i was
still here because i knew that soon in would be able to spend time with my family. Spending time with
my family has always been by far my favorite thing to do when I am in mexico because it is not a
everyday thing where i can go visit my grandparents. As i spend time with them i get to learn a lot of
where my parents came from and i get to know myself better as well i learn about the history

Investigating The Osmotic Regulation On The Kidney
The purpose of the experiment is to test the fluid balance in the body, by studying the osmotic
regulation in the kidney (Manuguid, et al., 2015) Also, test the changes in urine pH, urine flow rate
and specific density among non drinking and drinking groups.
The main purpose of avoiding food and drink prior to the lab was to eliminate the effects that could
occur in the class data, reduce the amount of error and to get a fair result by having everyone start at
the same time. If each student did not monitor or follow the correct procedure, this would have
affected the result by having a lot differences in the rate of urine flow, urine density and the pH level.
Therefore, we wouldn t have an accurate results to make any kind of conclusion out of it and we will
have a result in a wide range. All the groups drank according to their weight and this affected the
result in terms of their osmolarity, hormone secretion, and urine flow rate because all the groups
ingested different amount of the drinks. Based on the result from table 1, the physiological state of the
subjects at T0 was negative for blood, ketone, glucose and protein. In figures 1 4, all of the subjects
pH level was about 6; urine volume rate and urine voided is about the same amount for all the groups.
There were changes in the variables between T0 and T30 because at T0, we started with no drinks and
we saw that the non drinking group and drinking groups had about the same level of the urine flow
rate at T=0. At

Wolves vs Humans
Wolves and humans have an ongoing battle between one another. Hunter vs the hunted, humans are
always the hunted and the wolf the hunter, but in an amazing turn of events humans take matters into
their own hands and become the hunters, demolishing the danger that hunts them, the wolf. Wolves
have been depicted as voracious killers, for as long as I can remember, and we humans are the prey
they seek, victims of their sharp teeth and thirst for blood. The media does an extraordinary job in
representing the wolf as a killer, deceiver and danger. Wolves however, were a symbol of life in the
olden days, around 300 BC. It wasn t until humans began to own farm lands that this battle, and
stigma developed. Wolves no longer became a symbol they idolized , but a symbol of terror and
gruesome death. As our societies developed, the media became part of our everyday life, resulting in a
new image. An image where the wolf, as a species, drastically changed. My visual argument
demonstrates three categories: Big Bad Wolf, Ranchers Eye, and Wolf as Lamb. I hope to demonstrate
the negative impacts that the media has created for the wolf, as a result, helps reinforces the fears and
beliefs we have as a society have of wolves, negative associations that depict the wolf as evil,
dangerous, and a threat to our lives. Big Bad Wolf is the first category within my visual argument
which emphasizes the role that the media plays in representing wolves as rogue, vicious, voracious
killers,

Sleeper Curve Argumentative Analysis
Many people love to look back older movies and television shows. Shows like The Mary Tyler Moore
Show, Murphy Brown and Frasier that we consider quality entertainment may not be as good for us as
we once thought (Johnson 2005). This is not bad news though just because quality entertainment of
the past may not be that good for our minds, television shows today have more cognitive benefits than
we think. Using the Sleeper Curve theory, media theorist Steven Johnson effectively argues for a
change in what people consider cognitive junk food and what is nourishing for our minds (Johnson).
Johnson s formal diction and contemplative tone helps the audience understand his theory. Johnson
opens the article with a scene from Woody Allen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the past fifty years, television has increased the demands on the same mental abilities. Johnson
says that this growing complexity involves three primary elements: multiple threading, flashing
arrows and social networks, (Johnson). Johnson explains that multiple threading began in 1981 with
Hill Street Blues. Hill Street Blues weaves together a collection of up to ten distinct threads
throughout the episode. Johnson shows the readers a graph of the narrative thread throughout a typical
episode of Hill Street Blues. Johnson shows the reader another chart for the most ambitious show on
TV to date, The Sopranos, which routinely follows up to a dozen distinct threads over the course of an
episode (Johnson). By providing these charts, Johnson shows his readers a portrait of the Sleeper
Curve over the past thirty years in popular television. Before Hill Street Blues, the golden rule among
television executives was that audiences were not comfortable following more than three plots in each
episode, but within just three decades shows like The Sopranos have become popular because of the
multi threaded plot lines. Johnson believes that because of this burst in narrative threads, the amount
of flashing arrows , inserting something in the script that reduces the amount of analytic work on the
viewer, have greatly decreased. He says

Second Earl Of Rochester Essay
The satirists shared a talent for making other individuals feel uncomfortable, particularly by making
them aware of their own moral inadequacies. They used irony, derision, and wit to attack human vice
or folly. One method the satirist utilized to catch their readers attention, while also making them feel
uncomfortable, was to describe those things that were deemed inappropriate to discuss openly in
society. The classical example of a topic that was discussed behind closed doors, yet the satirist used
freely, was sex. Mention of such things as sex can always bring a giggle, excite feelings of hidden
passion, or make one s cheeks rosy from embarrassment. John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester, and
Jonathan Swift, were two satirist that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rochester s Upon His Drinking a Bowl, Rochester joins the aspect of alcohol with that of sex:
Cupid, and Bacchus, my Saints are,
May drink, and Love, still reign,
With Wine, I wash away my cares,
And then to Cunt again.
This attitude of sex and drunkenness is often associated with the ancient Greeks and Romans, who
Rochester makes reference to through Cupid and Bacchus. The wine serves as a tool to rid oneself of
their grasp on reason. It often drives away the feeling of anxiety that often exist between a man and
women during times of intimacy. It allows one to satisfy their bodily pleasure.
The graphic word quot;Cunt quot; not only serves as a symbol of sex and the female genitalia but is
also used to bring about the disgust of any moralist or any rational individual. A reasonable man
would like to think that men do not view sex and women in such a derogatory manner. According to
Rochester, this is not so. Men are crude creatures that do think of sex and women in such a manner.
Rochester s The Imperfect Enjoyment is an amusing tale of man s greatest fear premature ejaculation:
Smiling, she chides in a kind murm ring Noise,
And from her Body wipes the clammy joys;
When a Thousand Kisses, wander ring o re
My panting Bosome, is there then no more?...

Portrayal Of Women In Hamlet
Women are truly the backbones of society. They continue to bloom and flourish, helping to further
grow and expand communities and the world, but are often cast to the shadows because of stereotypes
placed on them dating from centuries ago. It is no secret that Shakespearean plays set basis for these
stereotypes, but because of the world views on women s rights in Shakespeare s time, his female
characters were allowed to break free from the confines of society. In Shakespeare s most famous play,
Hamlet, the two leading ladies, Ophelia and Gertrude, break free from the standard by showcasing
various acts of defiance, choosing their own paths and _______________________________.
Shakespearean plays often portray women as fragile, negligible and untrustworthy people. Because of
the dynamics of Hamlet, the women in the play closely fit the accepted stereotype but, prove to be the
strongest characters written in this tragic tragedy by defying the restrictions placed upon them.
Although it may not be clear to the naked eye, the women in Hamlet display certain acts of
disobedience through small deeds. Ophelia, Hamlet s love interest in the play, showcases her lack of
obedience and wit through two separate scenes. She first portrays these rebellious characteristics when
she first tells her father of the relationship she has with Hamlet. Many people would argue that this
does not show any of Ophelia s stray from the norm and some may argue that this scene would more
portray a father

Upper East Side Comparison
Back in 2012, I started working a full time job on the Upper East Side, commuting from the Bronx to
Manhattan every day. Hunter college neighborhood, situated in Manhattan s upper eastside is quite
different from the South Bronx neighborhood. Although both neighborhoods are similar in size and
diversity, the socioeconomic composition is very different. The Upper East Side on one hand is
famous for being one of the richest neighborhoods in New York. Consisting of the city s major tourist
attraction and numerous businesses, it is a high economic neighborhood. The south Bronx on the other
hand, is famously known for having the city s highest crime rates. The per capita income of this area is

neighborhoods consist of people from different parts of the world. They both use the subway to get to
and from work, seeing each other daily. Similarly, each neighborhood is built on a city like manner to
accommodate diversity. There is less communications and interactions in the Upper East Side
neighborhood due the large amount of businesses. Because people are trying to get in and out quickly,
bonds are formed. This makes it impossible to formed relationships among community members.
Also, most of the people in the neighborhood have home caretaker to run errands because they are

Virgin Of Guadalupe Essay
The Virgin of Guadalupe is a syncretic figure between the Spanish and Indian cultures because, for
one, the Virgin of Guadalupe is the symbolic mother, which rest between humans and God, in both the
Spanish and Indian cultures. When the Spanish came to America in efforts to try and conquer the
Native Americans, but failed to do so in the end, they began converted many of the Indians into their
religion, Catholicism. Since mostly all Native Americans were converted into Catholicism by the time
the Spanish had left, due to the Pueblo Revolt, the Virgin of Guadalupe had become the Indians Native

It started when controversy, caused by the people of England, erupted regarding the Old church on
politics, religion, and persecution. The Old Church of England believed that they helped people get to
heaven by having masses for their souls. Protestants believed that there shouldn t be a church tied to
civil power, but in the 16th century a church with civil power was very important. Fueling the
Protestants were Martin Luther, a German monk, and John Calvin, a French ceric and lawyer, who s
efforts helped over throw the Old Church of England. In 1534, once Henry VIII was denied divorce
from his wife by the Old Church of England he decided to create a new church, the Church of
England. Henry VIII then placed himself at the head of the church, replacing the Catholic Pope of
Rome. This became the official state religion in which all the protestants of England joined. The
Church of English was very power saying that the Old Church of England had no power because God
had all the power and humans had none, so only he decided if we would reach heaven. Even though
the Church of England didn t believe in the Old Church of England ways they still had many things in
common with them. For example, stain glass, bishops, priest, decans, cathedrals and choirs.

Essay On Government Regulations
The effects of Government Regulations on the Economy
The U.S. economy has somewhat recovered from the recession that began in 2008, but from my recent
findings I have realized that there has been an unbalance in that recovery. Investments have fallen and
businesses investments have been weak. The government regulates securities markets, the
environment, and even serves as a safety net for businesses that are at risk for bankruptcy. In many
efforts to mend the economy, regulations are costing the United States trillions of dollars. These
regulations are costly, but may be necessary if it produces an even larger economic and social benefit.
Regulations have many different functions like, restricting harmful products, regulating the use ...

I m not saying that the government should not do anything to help the poor but raising minimum wage
may not be the best way to go about helping the poor either.
The EPA s fracking study is another example of how government regulations hamper the performance
of the economy. There should be measures in place to regulate clean and efficient ways to run
businesses, however, when looking at the bigger picture, I feel that the cost of running a clean and
efficient operation should not take precedence over the condition of the economy and our way of life.
The EPA s 5 year study on hydraulic fracturing on groundwater contamination appeared to be a
beneficial plan to alleviate water contamination, but as I have found from reading through multiple
articles in the class resources, there is cost when one side is benefiting from a situation. The fact that it
took 5 years and $30 million dollars for the EPA to develop a risk assessment did strike me as odd.
Personally, if I was being paid millions of dollars to conduct a study on water contamination, I would
prolong the study for as long as I could as well. Expenses like these are not the only reason why the
U.S. is in debt, but it certainly doesn t help the state of the economy either. On the other hand, even
though the EPA may be costly

Earlier in the semester, my colleagues Bailley Vang, Zachary Wilson, and Haley Bennett and I voted
for and decided that we would be searching for bats as our semester project. By covering areas in
Clovis and Fresno with a Pettersson ultrasound detector and a small recorder, we aimed to take note of
and confirm many sightings not only as an educational obligation, but also with a goal of spending
time and having fun with friends close to midnight and prior to sunset. Starting off with Roeding Park
in Fresno, we had initially believed that our numbers would sharply spike to the double digits as the
place was comprised of tall trees with striking vegetation, making it optimal for a bat s habitat.
Strangely enough however, not only did we not catch sight of any of the placental mammal, the
detector negatively reported on bat calls. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Similar to Angelou s paternal grandmother, her biological mother, Vivian Baxter, is another major
female figure who breaks down gender discrimination. Angelou says, To describe my mother would

Although Vivian is gorgeous, she still does not follow the stereotypical feminine traits. Traditional
gender stereotypes show women as being submissive, sympathetic, and irresolute. Conversely, Vivian
is a woman who has no mercy or sympathy and has a passionate nature. Angelou indicates her mother

Waterfall And The Agile Model
The Waterfall and The Agile Model comparison
The waterfall model was legally introduced as an idea through a paper that had been published by a
man called Winston Royce in the year 1970. However, due to the waterfall model being introduced by
Winston Royce himself, it had been introduced as an example of a flawed software development
method, which was vulnerable due to its shortcomings. The waterfall model philosophy had been
inherited from the hardware manufacture and construction strategies that had been in practice in the
year 1970s; therefore it had a structured approach to the software development itself. In comparison to
the agile methodology, which developed in the year 1990s where the developers had decided to break
away from the traditional structured, segmented and administrative approaches, which were being
made to the developed software, and progressed towards more of the flexible development styles. The
term Agile can be referred to as being lightweight methods, which had been declared in a research
paper in the year 1974 by Edmonds. Furthermore, some of the most noticeable and common agile
methods of the software development that subsequently had been evolved were known as Scum in the
year 1995, Extreme Programming in 1996, Adaptive Software Development , Dynamic Systems
Development Method in 1995 and Feature Driven Development . In the year 2001, a team of
developers in the agile software development had declared the agile manifesto. The agile

Analysis Of Mark Twain s The Adventures Of Huckleberry...
CHAPTER III HUMANISM IN MARK TWAINS NOVELS A study of Mark Twain s Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn is an adventure in understanding changes in America itself. The book, at the center
of American geography and consciousness, asks readers to reexamine definitions of civilization and
freedom, right and wrong, social responsibility and inhumanity. Published in 1885, the novel recounts
those pre civil war days when the controversy over slavery, with designated slave and Free states,
disfigured the face of America and its view of itself as a land of the free. Both geographically and
otherwise, the story is an examination of life at the center: the center of America s premier river, the
Mississippi in the middle of the geographical United states, with slave states below, free states above,
which is the route toward freedom and escape for Huck and Jim; the center of one of the foremost
conflicts on American soil, slavery, which soon results in a civil war; the center of the coming of age
of both a young man and a nation that struggle to understand redefinitions of nationhood and freedom,
right and wrong; and the center of a shift from Romanticism to Realism in art and letters that would
provide for a new way for Americans to express and re create themselves. The novel offers an
excellent example of American picaresque fiction and meaningful use of dialect, although this dialect
may be difficult reading for students for whom English is not a first language. Although the final

bottled water can affect people s health in a direct or indirect way. For instance, many plastic water

more than that. I feel as though I have been through countless leadership experiences. But none more
memorable than being the leader of my own Eagle project. The project had a focus on puppies and
puppy training. The project was for the Guide Dogs of Texas Organization. My project involved two
phases. Cabinets for laundry room storage and puppy training agility equipment. The first phase was
straightforward and done without much hassle. The Guide Dogs of Texas had a need for laundry
storage to help with their newly formed workload coming from their upcoming litter of puppies. The
cabinets would serve to greatly reduce the efforts required from having to provide the puppies with
new sheets at least three times a day. The second phase was a little more complex. My project coach
and I came up with the idea of constructing agility equipment to help train the puppies into becoming
guide dogs. The equipment that ended up being chosen were a teeter totter, a set of weave poles, and a

Funerary Art Research Paper
Throughout the history of art, funerary art has served as a repository for the dead. Funerary art has
provided many cultural functions. Funerary art has played a large role in burial and celebrating the
journey and accomplishments of the dead. The funerary monuments of the Greeks and the Romans
were elaborate and provided a relic for the dead to ensure them safe travels to the afterlife. Greek
concepts of burials consisted of the belief that when one died they went to the kingdom of Hades and
Persephone. Women performed the burial rituals, and it involved laying out the body (prothesis) and
the funeral procession (ekphora). The Romans performed a burial, where it would end in a
columbarium (underground chamber). In the columbarium, is where the Romans preserved the ashes
of the dead. The columbarium sometimes could be elaborate and the sarcophagi told insight into
Roman values. Typical Roman funerary art includes tombstones, death masks, and sculptural reliefs. A

Liberty In The First American Society
Liberty would be defined in one s own words as, the power to act as one pleases, and being free within
the society in which one stays. The society and the mindset of the majority of the early American
colonists were based around liberty and the whole meaning behind it, and they wanted to make a
society based upon the idea of it. A River View High School teacher says, the society of this period in
time was as close to anarchy as possible (Justice 2016).This, in other words, is saying they had their
own voice in the way they chose to live and pursue their own happiness. The American colonists and

themselves. It wasn t until years later, in 1964, when it was made possible for the African American
and other race men became equal and had the freedom to be able to live and do the same thing as
whites. So in other words, the constitution has changed for the better on that note. On the other hand,
the government has also changed for the worse, and a few different ways. Today the government
changed the laws for the protection of people. The second amendment, which has been around since
America was made because obviously the founding fathers knew it was important to protect yourself,
is possibly being changed because the Americans feel that it is harmful to have or own a gun, and that
is something that half the people of America agree with, and half don t. There are other laws that are
being changed, because the government seems to want everyone happy, but obviously that cannot
happen because not everyone thinks the same so it is

The Purpose Of Music Video
THE PURPOSE OF MUSIC VIDEO The overview requirements:  Promotional  Extension of
income  Extension of outlets (music channels, DVD and CD sales, website download)  Synergy 
Producers strategies (major label and independent) History Modern music videos were initially made
and used as a publicizing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. They are often
called promos . In 1940, Walt Disney created Fantasia , an animated film based around famous piece
of classical music. The original music videos were shot in the 1950s. In 1956 Tony Bennett was
shooting walking along The Serpentine in Hyde Park as his song Stranger in Paradise played. This
was dispersed to TV stations in the UK and US. The Beatles first major motion picture A hard Day s
Night in 1964 arguably set out the basic visual vocabulary of today s music videos. Penny Lane in
1967 used methods derived from underground and avant garde film to exemplify the song in an artful
manner. 1970s In the UK the significance of Top of the Pops to promote a single created an
environment of revolution and competition amongst bands and record labels as the show s producers
placed strict limits on the number of videos it would use, consequently a good video would increase a
song s sales. Queen s Bohemian Rhapsody also started a whole new age for using music videos as
promos. 1980s 1981 MTV is launched. The first video to be aired was Buggles Video Killed the Radio

Bhagavad Gita Religion
The Bhagavad Gita focuses primarily on a conversation held between a god called Krishna and his
mortal cousin, Arjuna. This conversation happens right before a battle between Arjuna and his
brothers, the Pandavas, and their cousins, the Kurus, over who should be in charge of the kingdom.
Arjuna doesn t want to kill his family and seeks guidance from Krishna on what is to be done. The two
have a lengthy conversation regarding the many paths to understanding, the primary goal for this
period s religious tradition. Krishna is careful not to place one of the three paths or yogas (literally
joining together, the way or the path to the ultimate reality) ahead of the others. For Arjuna, however,
karmayoga (discipline of action) is more readily applicable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The jñanayoga focuses on knowing one s dharma and for understanding the more philosophical
aspects of this particular Indian tradition. It draws on the Upanishadic tradition of philosophy and
generally thought of as the more intellectual yoga leading to the correct understanding of Atman and
Brahman as both separate but really one and the same. For Arjuna to follow the jñanayoga
successfully, he would need to understand the philosophical nuances of the path. In particular, he
would need to understand how to act in such a way that was intent on action, not on the fruits of action
(II.47). Krishna says this to Arjuna in response to Arjuna s claim that he will not fight (II.9) despite his
warrior caste status and his role in the conflict as one of the five Pandava brothers. This seemingly
paradoxical advice highlights the differences between focusing on the outcomes of a particular event
(fruits of action) and focusing on simply completing an action. It is a process of losing attachments
and, consequently, is essential to understanding Atman and Brahman. Letting go of Arjuna s
attachment to the outcomes or the fruits of his action would free Arjuna from his discontentment and
allow him to fulfil his

The Crucible Movie Analysis
The Crucible is originally a play written by Arthur Miller. In 1969 the film was produced by David V.
Picker, Robert A. Miller and directed by Nicholas Hytner. The movie is based around the Salem witch
trials and is a historical fiction. The film is a classic story of pointing fingers and false accusations.
Within the film there are many main characters. These characters include Abigail Williams played by
Winona Ryder and John Proctor played by Daniel Day Lewis. The point of view is from a third person
point of view. However, the third person view gives an insightful look of views from the other
charters. The main character is Abigail Adams and throughout the movie her main goal is to accuse
John proctors wife, accused and killed for being a witch. However, as she gains more power she
accuses many people and leads to her eventual leaving of Salem. Her point of view changes
drastically, at the end of the movie she realizes that she has lost power and is fearful because of her
scheming ways. Another point of view is from the perspective of John Proctor. As he is accused of
witchcraft he struggles with the decision to confess to being a witch or not confessing in order to keep
his name clean. The struggle he has with this choice is a great representation of how others felt about
confessing to be a witch. Back in the times of the witch trial, your name had a lot of value and honor
because it is what future generations would carry on. If a person s name was dragged through the

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the rotation constant, vibration rotation interaction
constant, moment of inertia, and bond lengths for Acetylene(C2H2) and Deuterated Acetylene(C2D2)

Discipleship Of Mark And The Gospel Of Thomas
Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark and the Gospel of Thomas
The roles of disciples play a very important part in developing the message of the gospels due to their
close relation to Jesus throughout the stories. To start to understand the importance of the disciples
first you have to understand the main purpose of the Gospels. The Gospels are written in order to
describe Jesus s life on earth before Heaven. They give people insight to who Jesus was and create a
stronger basis of belief in Jesus and God. In order to bring the Gospels to life they use the students of
Jesus or Disciples to project his teachings and stories. The disciples take on many different roles in the
varying gospels. They are students, friends, witnesses, observers, and worshipers of Jesus. Disciples
come in many different forms of people as well. During the stories of the Gospels, Jesus is essentially
walking along picking up new followers and experiencing new things with them. Throughout the
experiences, Jesus teaches the disciples and they grow and learn and as a result the reader grows and
learns as well. That is why the disciples play such a pivotal role in the comprehension of Jesus and
him as a person. It becomes evident when analyzing the different Gospels that Jesus relationship with
the Disciples is slightly changed in the varying texts. A noticeable difference in the development of the
disciple s relationship to Jesus is present specifically in the Gospel of Mark and the Gospel of
Thomas.

Infant Caregiver Attachment
The essence of attachment to a developing infant cannot be overstated. It is at the heart of healthy
child development. Also, it lays a foundation when it comes to relating with others. It plays a crucial
role in influencing the parent s ability to nurture and to be responsive to their children. The effects of
attachment to the developing infant are long term. Bowlby, the developer of the theory of infant
caregiver attachment, attachment security determines the infant s preferential desire for contact with
his or her caregiver (Levine, 23). The child uses the caregiver as a secure base from which to explore
the environment. When infants develop securely attached relationships to their caregivers, they will
have positive behaviours in the future. They also tend to show resiliency to new environments.
Attachment to the developing infant plays a crucial role in regulating stress in times of illness, anxiety
and distress. Infants develop different kinds of attachment relationships. For instance, some infants
can become securely attached to the parent while others find themselves in an insecure attachment
relationship. The differences are determined by the social environment during the first few years of
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Battle of Gibeah and Micah s Idol
The story starts in chapter 17 when a man named Micah steals a very large amount of silver from his
mother. The exact amount that he takes is 1100 pieces of silver. An average yearly salary in Micah s
day was ten pieces of silver which can be found in verse 10, so he stole a small fortune. Micah s mom
gets very upset, as is her right, and she pronounces a curse on the person that had stolen the silver.
When Micah learns of his mother s curse, he gets worried and returns the silver. The Old Testament
law required Micah to add 1/5 (Exodus 22) to what he had stolen, 220 pieces of silver, but he does not
do this. It is not a reverential fear of the Lord that makes Micah feel the need to confess his crime and
return the money; it is his fear of his mother s curse. Micah does not feel guilty because of his sin but
he is merely trying to save himself from a curse. Micah mother also sins. When Micah returns the
silver, she doesn t curse but she blesses him. Her values, like Micah s, are not in line with God s. She
blesses him and the hires a silversmith to make her son idols, a clear sin against God, and he keeps
them. The mother doesn t condemn her son because she is as much of a thief as he is. In 17:3 she says,
I wholly dedicate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son to make a graven image and a
molten image; now therefore, I will return them to you. however, in the very next verse she only gives
200 pieces of the silver. So, she kept 900 pieces of the silver that

Similarities Between The Bolder And The Allegory Of The Cave
People think that their notion of reality is real, but that is not necessarily true. Great philosophers such
as Plato came up with the Allegory of the Cave to show how our views of reality are not necessarily
real. The Eye of the Beholder also showed how people view reality differently, hence it is not true. As
a kid I had limitations to my knowledge, and I had to look beyond what I knew to learn the truth. As
people we must continue to look past what we know for reality. Nonetheless people continue to
believe only what they can see and what they know, if they were presented with the truth they would
ignore it. Because of our perspectives and knowledge both the Allegory of the Cave and the Eye of the
Bolder portray how our reality is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Allegory of the Cave and the Eye of the Beholder portray how what we think or know is not
necessarily true. We could all be seeing an illusion of what is real. That is why not all people see the
truth. Some refuse to look past what they know and only believe what they see or what they think. It is
difficult to convince someone of the truth. In the Allegory of the Cave the prisoners ignored the truth,
because they only knew what they had seen, but since the freed man saw things differently he was
seen as crazy. In the Eye of the Beholder people will see only what they want to see and due to the
perspective that they were seeing something through, they will believe it and refuse to believe
something differently. The Eye of the Beholder gives a more useful explanation of how people are
blind to reality, because everyone has a different perspective on things. Everyday people see things
differently, and we know we do, because we all have different opinions. People however, rely on these
opinions for reality. Others think that what they see or how they see something is true, because they
saw it and they believe only what they think. Yet, when you look at the actual truth, none of the
opinions that the people had were real. With the Eye of the Beholder it is simpler to understand how
our perspective and knowledge is not real. It is clearer to see how we must look past what we think we
know, and past our illusions of

The Older Generation And Life Experiences In My Life
You can learn so much from the older generations. Their life experiences can teach you a lot and give
you some insight on this thing we call life. Generations interacting with each other can be very
beneficial to society today. Older generations can explain to the youth that everything in life won t go
the way you plan for it to, but that s okay. They can let them know to take the hand that life deals them
and make the best out of it. People from older generations can prove to you that no matter how many
curve balls life throw at you; you can still become successful. I was able to interview someone from
the baby boomer s generation and apply their life experiences to my lifespan course.
I have known Jeanetta Wrice all of my life, and I have gotten to know her in all aspects of her life. She
is able to juggle being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend all while having a career and I loved
that about her. Growing up wasn t smooth for her, she had many bumps she had to overcome to
achieve her success. During the interview I was able to ask her questions about how she became
successful all while starting a family at a young age. Another question I had was about her
environment. Being that she lived in a rough neighborhood how did she stay on the right path and not
give in to peer pressure to drop out and etcetera. Throughout my middle school years, she started
going back to school so I was able to see how she divided her time between her family, job, and
school. As a girl who didn t grow up in the best environment either but still wanting to one day have a
career, a family, and become a business owne,r I wanted to see how she overcame her odds.
I first wanted to hear about Mrs. Wrice s childhood and what encouraged her to stay on the right path.
She explained that since she was one of the younger siblings she watched and followed what some of
her older siblings did. Mrs. Wrice did most of her development according to Bandura s social learning
theory according to our textbooks definition. She would watch her sister study and work a job
determined to graduate high school and continue on to college. Another example she had was an older
brother that was a little rebellious and skipped school and stayed on

Negative Effects Of Technology On Sleep
One night you go to bed late and when you wake up the next morning you realize just how bad you
feel. You might want to think about what and how you used technology as you were trying to get to
sleep or staying up until all hours of the night harmed your sleep. One reason teens might have
problems getting enough sleep is that teens have habits that negatively affect their sleep. Some
examples of bad habits are the use of technology and not going to sleep at a reasonable time.
However, the use of technology isn t always bad. One positive effect of using technology while trying
to sleep can be seen when listening to low aroused music, for example. It is when teens use
technology for other things that they hurt themselves. While some bad habits of teens can harm your
sleep, some behaviors can make your sleep better. Teens are negatively affected by their use of
technology at night. When you use your electronic devices at night you are risking your sleep. When
teens use their electronics at night the stay up because of, the blue light emitted by screens on cell

Components Of A Risk Management Program
Every healthcare organization, no matter how small or specialized, should be aware of its risk
situation and take appropriate measures to protect itself against clinical, financial and operational
exposures. Risk management is the process of minimizing risk to an organization by developing
systems to identify and analyze potential hazards to prevent accidents, injuries, and other adverse
occurrences, and by attempting to handle events and incidents which do occur in such a manner that
their effect and cost are minimized. Effective risk management has its greatest benefits in application

Jamaica Kincaid- Girl Essay
Jamaica Kincaid Girl The poem Girl by author Jamaica Kincaid shows love and family togetherness
by creating microcosmic images of the way mothers raise their children in order to survive. Upon
closer examination, the reader sees that the text is a string of images in Westerner Caribbean family
practices.
Jamaica Kincaid has taken common advice that daughters are constantly hearing from their mothers
and tied them into a series of commands that a mother uses to prevent her daughter from turning into
the slut that she is so bent on becoming (380). But they are more than commands; the phrases are a

The story does not give evidence that men help the women with their chores, and this may also give
women cause for dissension and hostility. One of the major points of dissension in the story is the
daughter s two interjections into her mother s recitation. At both points, she tries to gain advantage
over her mother s advice by offering objections to her mother s words. Both times, the mother merely
continues her barrage of words without validating the girl s interjections. The mother, too, constantly
hints that the girl is intent upon becoming a slut, which creates even more dissension and hostility
between the two. At times in the story it seems as if the mother does not like the daughter and is only
giving her advice because it is her duty. It is hard to determine from the dialogue anything other then
the fact that the mother has placed intense demands on her daughter, but that she does not feel that the
daughter will become anything more than a slut.
As far back as bible times women and their daughters were taught to submit to the head of the family
for the rest of their lives. Ephesians 5:22 23 states:
Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is

This article provided insight on managing red tape from the point of view of a business founder. The
author who founded the Virgin Group of companies describes red tape as a hinderance to startup
companies, as if its intended purpose was to limit or prevent success. The author uses his experience
with founding companies to elaborate on the cautionary measures a startup must take as it grows to

The author s comments about Airbnb are shorter, presumably due to the fact that they adhere to the
rules and regulations laid before the company instead of refusing to accept them and accusing a

common opinion on red tape, rules, and regulations implemented by government is that they are a
hassle, they prevent success, and their purpose is to create obstacles for startup companies. Perhaps
this article s intent of advice is skewed, but it effectively raises the questions of how can red tape be

Social And Economic Welfare Of A Country Essay
Developed in 1930s, GDP defined as the value of all the goods and services produced within a country
in a given financial year (Heloisa, 2012). GDP is significant as it measures size and performance of an
economy. GDP uses growth rate to quantity the economic activity and this assists policy makers to
adjust and implement economic policy during recession and depression, as it obliges as a precise
indicator of the business climate where it provides all the essential data to government and business so
they can adjust and think of ways to survive (Macroeconomics, 2011). Economically it functions as a
modest representation for social and economic welfare of a country and this helps economist
worldwide to study and compare different countries in terms of life expectancy, wealth, income,
education level and many other indicators (Macroeconomics, 2011). However, on the other side GDP
has been relentlessly critiqued by many economists as it doesn t take into account non market
activities such as unpaid voluntary work or illegal trade. Second, criticism of GDP is that it doesn t not
take into consideration the distribution of nation wealth s, as it only feeds an estimated of each person
share of the market economy it ignores the fact that some people level of income is higher than others
hence, due to unequal distribution the level of poverty in some countries is difficult to assess.
Furthermore, it doesn t even account for loss of welfare due to natural disasters and also

but there are also some bad apples in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. Athletes can inspire young

Identity Historical Events
Identity and its Underlying Context in Historical Events
As we grow new understandings and opinions form, creating a unique viewpoint of the world that is
ever changing. My personal viewpoint may be much different than those of the people I grew up with
due to different experiences and family backgrounds that have helped to form my identity. As people,
we have inherent biased towards our own views of how the world works based on our identity, place
and the histories we have been taught. We only gain a clearer understanding of the world when we
open up and actively attempt to view the world from another perspective. This process can, and often
will, lead to some uncomfortable and disheartening experiences, but it eventually leads to a better ...

Prior to asking my mother, some of my friends asked if I truly wanted to know the answer to this
question. There were times when I would have preferred to stay ignorant to the issue, avoiding the
responsibility of this knowledge, but I also understood that asking the question was either going to
affirm aspects of my identity or create a confrontation. If he had not worked at a residential school the
disconnect to Canadian history I had always felt would have remained, but if he had I would now need
to figure out how to shift my perceptions to include this new information and the weight that it bears.
Asking the question was the difficult part, for myself and the answers I may not want to hear as well
as for my mother s sake in unknowingly creating a rift in her self perception of identity. What I
learned was not what I was expecting. The school was an official residential school, but from what she
could remember some children were housed in a residence while others were bussed in from their
homes on the reserve daily. She also spoke of a teepee that the school had on site. This information
was not congruent with my understanding of the information presented from the Aboriginal
perspective where language, culture and parental influence were severed and education for
assimilation was taught (Louis 2016). This

Friends Sociological Analysis
The television series Friends follows the professional as well as personal life of six 20 30 year olds
airing of NBC written by David Crane, Marta Kauffman, Andrew Reich, Alexa Junge, Jeff Strauss,
and Jeff Greenstein. The group of friends go by the names Rachel Green, Ross Geller, Monica Geller,
Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Phoebe Buffay who are all in their twenties. They live together in
the heart of New York, Manhattan. Throughout the show over the course of ten years we follow the
groups family trouble, past and future romances, fights, laughs, tears and surprises as they learn and
experience what it means to be a friend. The show Friends is a great example of social organization
and groups. A social group is a group that consist of two or more people who interact with one another
and share a common identity. Groups are broken down into two categories. A Primary group which is
fairly small, and include individuals who engage face to face, long term emotional ways. There is also
a secondary group which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sex refers to the biological distinction between males and females; by contrast, gender concerns the
social differences between males and females. In episode 15 Joey uses pickup lines to try to attract
girls to him which is an example of sex. Also in season 2 episode 4 Rachel rented a movie for the girls
to watch, however Ross does not understand why he is not allowed to join them for movie night.
There reasoning behind it was he was a male figure which is an example of gender. Furthermore, the
male leads had arguably more respected and higher paying jobs than the female roles. Ross was a
paleontologist and university professor. Chandler worked as an executive in a large multinational
corporation. Joey was shown being not as well off financially but was an actor in a popular daytime
soap opera. This is a prime example of how gender plays a vital role in

Individual Assignment [pic] [pic] [pic] Student Name: Mandeep Kaur (10211855) Module Leader: Simeon Scott Course: MA IBM Introduction: For my research topic I have chosen this topic to analyse and to investigate about the mergers and acquisitions of organisations. Do these mergers and acquisitions always bring desired results or not. Mergers and acquisitions are very common and occur everywhere i.e. in organizations, administrative units and businesses in all industries and of all sizes specially in banking sector and in pharmaceutical ... Literature review: Different tools and techniques in the forms of ratio analysis etc. are used by scholars to identify the effects of mergers and acquisitions and interestingly different results are there in the market. Performance can be measured on the basis of long term and short term time period; long term performance can be checked on the basis of profitability of the firm. Fundamental analysis of the company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008) Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present value of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from combining (Samuels, wilikes and brayshaw, 1996). • 3. Importance Of Travel To Travel Essay Family, new experiences and memories are three things I get from buying a ticket to travel. Buying a ticket to travel outside the country can open so many doors and can teach you a lot from the other places you visit. My whole life I have been traveling in and out of mexico and that is my favorite place to go. Growing up getting use to going to Mexico I paid little attention to what was actually going on when i would travel. Traveling truly meant getting away from reality, having freedom, and getting to know yourself better. These three things have been developing every time i would travel and will continue every single time i continue to repeat the pattern. Many new possibilities can appear just by buying a single ticket that can help you view everything differently in a matter of time. Getting the news from my parents that they had already bought the flight tickets was almost as important as the day of actually getting there. I remember my favorite part was being able to see the ticket that gave me motivation to perform my best at everything I did the last couple of days that i was still here because i knew that soon in would be able to spend time with my family. Spending time with my family has always been by far my favorite thing to do when I am in mexico because it is not a everyday thing where i can go visit my grandparents. As i spend time with them i get to learn a lot of where my parents came from and i get to know myself better as well i learn about the history ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Investigating The Osmotic Regulation On The Kidney The purpose of the experiment is to test the fluid balance in the body, by studying the osmotic regulation in the kidney (Manuguid, et al., 2015) Also, test the changes in urine pH, urine flow rate and specific density among non drinking and drinking groups. The main purpose of avoiding food and drink prior to the lab was to eliminate the effects that could occur in the class data, reduce the amount of error and to get a fair result by having everyone start at the same time. If each student did not monitor or follow the correct procedure, this would have affected the result by having a lot differences in the rate of urine flow, urine density and the pH level. Therefore, we wouldn t have an accurate results to make any kind of conclusion out of it and we will have a result in a wide range. All the groups drank according to their weight and this affected the result in terms of their osmolarity, hormone secretion, and urine flow rate because all the groups ingested different amount of the drinks. Based on the result from table 1, the physiological state of the subjects at T0 was negative for blood, ketone, glucose and protein. In figures 1 4, all of the subjects pH level was about 6; urine volume rate and urine voided is about the same amount for all the groups. There were changes in the variables between T0 and T30 because at T0, we started with no drinks and we saw that the non drinking group and drinking groups had about the same level of the urine flow rate at T=0. • 5. Wolves vs Humans Wolves and humans have an ongoing battle between one another. Hunter vs the hunted, humans are always the hunted and the wolf the hunter, but in an amazing turn of events humans take matters into their own hands and become the hunters, demolishing the danger that hunts them, the wolf. Wolves have been depicted as voracious killers, for as long as I can remember, and we humans are the prey they seek, victims of their sharp teeth and thirst for blood. The media does an extraordinary job in representing the wolf as a killer, deceiver and danger. Wolves however, were a symbol of life in the olden days, around 300 BC. It wasn t until humans began to own farm lands that this battle, and stigma developed. Wolves no longer became a symbol they idolized , but a symbol of terror and gruesome death. As our societies developed, the media became part of our everyday life, resulting in a new image. An image where the wolf, as a species, drastically changed. My visual argument demonstrates three categories: Big Bad Wolf, Ranchers Eye, and Wolf as Lamb. I hope to demonstrate the negative impacts that the media has created for the wolf, as a result, helps reinforces the fears and beliefs we have as a society have of wolves, negative associations that depict the wolf as evil, dangerous, and a threat to our lives. Big Bad Wolf is the first category within my visual argument which emphasizes the role that the media plays in representing wolves as rogue, vicious, voracious killers, ... • 6. Sleeper Curve Argumentative Analysis Many people love to look back older movies and television shows. Shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Murphy Brown and Frasier that we consider quality entertainment may not be as good for us as we once thought (Johnson 2005). This is not bad news though just because quality entertainment of the past may not be that good for our minds, television shows today have more cognitive benefits than we think. Using the Sleeper Curve theory, media theorist Steven Johnson effectively argues for a change in what people consider cognitive junk food and what is nourishing for our minds (Johnson). Johnson s formal diction and contemplative tone helps the audience understand his theory. Johnson opens the article with a scene from Woody Allen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the past fifty years, television has increased the demands on the same mental abilities. Johnson says that this growing complexity involves three primary elements: multiple threading, flashing arrows and social networks, (Johnson). Johnson explains that multiple threading began in 1981 with Hill Street Blues. Hill Street Blues weaves together a collection of up to ten distinct threads throughout the episode. Johnson shows the readers a graph of the narrative thread throughout a typical episode of Hill Street Blues. Johnson shows the reader another chart for the most ambitious show on TV to date, The Sopranos, which routinely follows up to a dozen distinct threads over the course of an episode (Johnson). By providing these charts, Johnson shows his readers a portrait of the Sleeper Curve over the past thirty years in popular television. Before Hill Street Blues, the golden rule among television executives was that audiences were not comfortable following more than three plots in each episode, but within just three decades shows like The Sopranos have become popular because of the multi threaded plot lines. Johnson believes that because of this burst in narrative threads, the amount of flashing arrows , inserting something in the script that reduces the amount of analytic work on the viewer, have greatly decreased. • 7. Second Earl Of Rochester Essay The satirists shared a talent for making other individuals feel uncomfortable, particularly by making them aware of their own moral inadequacies. They used irony, derision, and wit to attack human vice or folly. One method the satirist utilized to catch their readers attention, while also making them feel uncomfortable, was to describe those things that were deemed inappropriate to discuss openly in society. The classical example of a topic that was discussed behind closed doors, yet the satirist used freely, was sex. Mention of such things as sex can always bring a giggle, excite feelings of hidden passion, or make one s cheeks rosy from embarrassment. In Rochester s Upon His Drinking a Bowl, Rochester joins the aspect of alcohol with that of sex: Cupid, and Bacchus, my Saints are, May drink, and Love, still reign, With Wine, I wash away my cares, And then to Cunt again. This attitude of sex and drunkenness is often associated with the ancient Greeks and Romans, who Rochester makes reference to through Cupid and Bacchus. The wine serves as a tool to rid oneself of their grasp on reason. It often drives away the feeling of anxiety that often exist between a man and women during times of intimacy. It allows one to satisfy their bodily pleasure. The graphic word quot;Cunt quot; not only serves as a symbol of sex and the female genitalia but is also used to bring about the disgust of any moralist or any rational individual. A reasonable man would like to think that men do not view sex and women in such a derogatory manner. According to Rochester, this is not so. Men are crude creatures that do think of sex and women in such a manner. They continue to bloom and flourish, helping to further grow and expand communities and the world, but are often cast to the shadows because of stereotypes placed on them dating from centuries ago. It is no secret that Shakespearean plays set basis for these stereotypes, but because of the world views on women s rights in Shakespeare s time, his female characters were allowed to break free from the confines of society. In Shakespeare s most famous play, Hamlet, the two leading ladies, Ophelia and Gertrude, break free from the standard by showcasing various acts of defiance, choosing their own paths and _______________________________. Shakespearean plays often portray women as fragile, negligible and untrustworthy people. Because of the dynamics of Hamlet, the women in the play closely fit the accepted stereotype but, prove to be the strongest characters written in this tragic tragedy by defying the restrictions placed upon them. Although it may not be clear to the naked eye, the women in Hamlet display certain acts of disobedience through small deeds. Ophelia, Hamlet s love interest in the play, showcases her lack of obedience and wit through two separate scenes. She first portrays these rebellious characteristics when she first tells her father of the relationship she has with Hamlet. Hunter college neighborhood, situated in Manhattan s upper eastside is quite different from the South Bronx neighborhood. Although both neighborhoods are similar in size and diversity, the socioeconomic composition is very different. The Upper East Side on one hand is famous for being one of the richest neighborhoods in New York. It started when controversy, caused by the people of England, erupted regarding the Old church on politics, religion, and persecution. The Old Church of England believed that they helped people get to heaven by having masses for their souls. Protestants believed that there shouldn t be a church tied to civil power, but in the 16th century a church with civil power was very important. Fueling the Protestants were Martin Luther, a German monk, and John Calvin, a French ceric and lawyer, who s efforts helped over throw the Old Church of England. In 1534, once Henry VIII was denied divorce from his wife by the Old Church of England he decided to create a new church, the Church of England. Henry VIII then placed himself at the head of the church, replacing the Catholic Pope of Rome. This became the official state religion in which all the protestants of England joined. • 13. Essay On Government Regulations The effects of Government Regulations on the Economy The U.S. economy has somewhat recovered from the recession that began in 2008, but from my recent findings I have realized that there has been an unbalance in that recovery. Investments have fallen and businesses investments have been weak. The government regulates securities markets, the environment, and even serves as a safety net for businesses that are at risk for bankruptcy. In many efforts to mend the economy, regulations are costing the United States trillions of dollars. These regulations are costly, but may be necessary if it produces an even larger economic and social benefit. Regulations have many different functions like, restricting harmful products, regulating the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I m not saying that the government should not do anything to help the poor but raising minimum wage may not be the best way to go about helping the poor either. The EPA s fracking study is another example of how government regulations hamper the performance of the economy. There should be measures in place to regulate clean and efficient ways to run businesses, however, when looking at the bigger picture, I feel that the cost of running a clean and efficient operation should not take precedence over the condition of the economy and our way of life. The EPA s 5 year study on hydraulic fracturing on groundwater contamination appeared to be a beneficial plan to alleviate water contamination, but as I have found from reading through multiple articles in the class resources, there is cost when one side is benefiting from a situation. The fact that it took 5 years and $30 million dollars for the EPA to develop a risk assessment did strike me as odd. Personally, if I was being paid millions of dollars to conduct a study on water contamination, I would prolong the study for as long as I could as well. Expenses like these are not the only reason why the U.S. is in debt, but it certainly doesn t help the state of the economy either. On the other hand, even though the EPA may be costly ... • 14. Survival Observation Essay Earlier in the semester, my colleagues Bailley Vang, Zachary Wilson, and Haley Bennett and I voted for and decided that we would be searching for bats as our semester project. By covering areas in Clovis and Fresno with a Pettersson ultrasound detector and a small recorder, we aimed to take note of and confirm many sightings not only as an educational obligation, but also with a goal of spending time and having fun with friends close to midnight and prior to sunset. Starting off with Roeding Park in Fresno, we had initially believed that our numbers would sharply spike to the double digits as the place was comprised of tall trees with striking vegetation, making it optimal for a bat s habitat. Regardless of the number of times we showed up and scavenged for the flittermouse however, the results still came up negative. First attempt came up negative. Second attempt came up negative. Waterfall And The Agile Model The Waterfall and The Agile Model comparison The waterfall model was legally introduced as an idea through a paper that had been published by a man called Winston Royce in the year 1970. However, due to the waterfall model being introduced by Winston Royce himself, it had been introduced as an example of a flawed software development method, which was vulnerable due to its shortcomings. The waterfall model philosophy had been inherited from the hardware manufacture and construction strategies that had been in practice in the year 1970s; therefore it had a structured approach to the software development itself. • 17. Analysis Of Mark Twain s The Adventures Of Huckleberry... CHAPTER III HUMANISM IN MARK TWAINS NOVELS A study of Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an adventure in understanding changes in America itself. The book, at the center of American geography and consciousness, asks readers to reexamine definitions of civilization and freedom, right and wrong, social responsibility and inhumanity. Published in 1885, the novel recounts those pre civil war days when the controversy over slavery, with designated slave and Free states, disfigured the face of America and its view of itself as a land of the free. Both geographically and otherwise, the story is an examination of life at the center: the center of America s premier river, the Mississippi in the middle of the geographical United states, with slave states below, free states above, which is the route toward freedom and escape for Huck and Jim; the center of one of the foremost conflicts on American soil, slavery, which soon results in a civil war; the center of the coming of age of both a young man and a nation that struggle to understand redefinitions of nationhood and freedom, right and wrong; and the center of a shift from Romanticism to Realism in art and letters that would provide for a new way for Americans to express and re create themselves. The novel offers an excellent example of American picaresque fiction and meaningful use of dialect, although this dialect may be difficult reading for students for whom English is not a first language. My project involved two phases. Cabinets for laundry room storage and puppy training agility equipment. The first phase was straightforward and done without much hassle. The Guide Dogs of Texas had a need for laundry storage to help with their newly formed workload coming from their upcoming litter of puppies. Funerary art has played a large role in burial and celebrating the journey and accomplishments of the dead. The funerary monuments of the Greeks and the Romans were elaborate and provided a relic for the dead to ensure them safe travels to the afterlife. Greek concepts of burials consisted of the belief that when one died they went to the kingdom of Hades and Persephone. Women performed the burial rituals, and it involved laying out the body (prothesis) and the funeral procession (ekphora). The Romans performed a burial, where it would end in a columbarium (underground chamber). In the columbarium, is where the Romans preserved the ashes of the dead. For Arjuna to follow the jñanayoga successfully, he would need to understand the philosophical nuances of the path. Krishna says this to Arjuna in response to Arjuna s claim that he will not fight (II.9) despite his warrior caste status and his role in the conflict as one of the five Pandava brothers. This seemingly paradoxical advice highlights the differences between focusing on the outcomes of a particular event (fruits of action) and focusing on simply completing an action. To start to understand the importance of the disciples first you have to understand the main purpose of the Gospels. The Gospels are written in order to describe Jesus s life on earth before Heaven. They give people insight to who Jesus was and create a stronger basis of belief in Jesus and God. In order to bring the Gospels to life they use the students of Jesus or Disciples to project his teachings and stories. The disciples take on many different roles in the varying gospels. They are students, friends, witnesses, observers, and worshipers of Jesus. Disciples come in many different forms of people as well. During the stories of the Gospels, Jesus is essentially walking along picking up new followers and experiencing new things with them. Also, it lays a foundation when it comes to relating with others. It plays a crucial role in influencing the parent s ability to nurture and to be responsive to their children. The effects of attachment to the developing infant are long term. Bowlby, the developer of the theory of infant caregiver attachment, attachment security determines the infant s preferential desire for contact with his or her caregiver (Levine, 23). The child uses the caregiver as a secure base from which to explore the environment. When infants develop securely attached relationships to their caregivers, they will have positive behaviours in the future. They also tend to show resiliency to new environments. Attachment to the developing infant plays a crucial role in regulating stress in times of illness, anxiety and distress. Infants develop different kinds of attachment relationships. The exact amount that he takes is 1100 pieces of silver. An average yearly salary in Micah s day was ten pieces of silver which can be found in verse 10, so he stole a small fortune. Micah s mom gets very upset, as is her right, and she pronounces a curse on the person that had stolen the silver. When Micah learns of his mother s curse, he gets worried and returns the silver. The Old Testament law required Micah to add 1/5 (Exodus 22) to what he had stolen, 220 pieces of silver, but he does not do this. It is not a reverential fear of the Lord that makes Micah feel the need to confess his crime and return the money; it is his fear of his mother s curse. In the Allegory of the Cave the prisoners ignored the truth, because they only knew what they had seen, but since the freed man saw things differently he was seen as crazy. Jamaica Kincaid- Girl Essay Jamaica Kincaid Girl The poem Girl by author Jamaica Kincaid shows love and family togetherness by creating microcosmic images of the way mothers raise their children in order to survive. Upon closer examination, the reader sees that the text is a string of images in Westerner Caribbean family practices. Jamaica Kincaid has taken common advice that daughters are constantly hearing from their mothers and tied them into a series of commands that a mother uses to prevent her daughter from turning into the slut that she is so bent on becoming (380). But they are more than commands; the phrases are a mother s way of ensuring that her daughter has the tools that she needs to survive as an adult. The fact that the mother takes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story does not give evidence that men help the women with their chores, and this may also give women cause for dissension and hostility. One of the major points of dissension in the story is the daughter s two interjections into her mother s recitation. At both points, she tries to gain advantage over her mother s advice by offering objections to her mother s words. Both times, the mother merely continues her barrage of words without validating the girl s interjections. The mother, too, constantly hints that the girl is intent upon becoming a slut, which creates even more dissension and hostility between the two. At times in the story it seems as if the mother does not like the daughter and is only giving her advice because it is her duty. It is hard to determine from the dialogue anything other then the fact that the mother has placed intense demands on her daughter, but that she does not feel that the daughter will become anything more than a slut. As far back as bible times women and their daughters were taught to submit to the head of the family for the rest of their lives. Ephesians 5:22 23 states: Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. The bible emphasizes the equality of wives to husbands but did not advise the overthrowing of the head of the family. Still today in many other religions the wife is submissive to her ... The author who founded the Virgin Group of companies describes red tape as a hinderance to startup companies, as if its intended purpose was to limit or prevent success. The author uses his experience with founding companies to elaborate on the cautionary measures a startup must take as it grows to prevent the hierarchy of bureaucracy from taking over. The author s comments about Airbnb are shorter, presumably due to the fact that they adhere to the rules and regulations laid before the company instead of refusing to accept them and accusing a government official of illegal activity in the manor Musk chose to. This article strongly suggests the common opinion on red tape, rules, and regulations implemented by government is that they are a hassle, they prevent success, and their purpose is to create obstacles for startup companies. Perhaps this article s intent of advice is skewed, but it effectively raises the questions of how can red tape be monitored and applied to the necessary recipients in a way that they respect and understand the necessary process?
