Helping Father Kleinsorge s Hiroshima
Helping. Caring. Assisting. These are way of how people got through the bombing on Hiroshima. By
helping others people are able to create a hopeful future. In Hiroshima, Father Kleinsorge shows us
that by helping others, you are able to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Father
Kleinsorge is able to demonstrate this by helping the people in the park. He goes out of his way to
fetch water for the wounded (Hersey 51). He traveled through the woods so that they are not thirsty
anymore. Father Kleinsorge also tries to care for the children that are sick and can t find their family.
He brings in carts so that the Nakamara children are able to the Novitiate. With the children that can t

The Socio Economic Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage
parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New
Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socio economic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower
the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main
socio economic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an
adolescent mother in New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of education
is considered as a socio economic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by the second
theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment and welfare
dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from family and friends lead to
unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of
education is one of the main socio economic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent
mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping out of school at an
early age. For example, youth that tend to gain fewer educational qualifications are more likely to be
in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding contraceptive use which leaves
them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens, 2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson,

Life Science Controversy
After reading the chapter and reflecting on this topic, I felt more panicked than before thinking deeply
into this topic. Life science curriculum is filled with controversial topics ranging from evolution to
climate change to GMO s to vaccines to human impacts on the Earth. Teaching these topics are
essential to building both the science literacy and the environmental literacy that I am passionate for in
students; however, the methodology used is complicated, muddy and stressful. Kunkle and Monroe
(2015) recommended seven key suggestions to teaching controversial topics: knowing your audience,
framing information, avoiding the overuse of emotional appeals, making behavior change easier,
tapping into learners self identities, focusing on localized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4), instead of the teach the controversy approach. Misconception based instruction acknowledges and
explains the controversy, and recognizes the differences between social and scientific controversy
(para. 5). Furthermore, Cook found research that indicated the negative impacts of presenting both
sides of scientific debates. He highlights climate changes through his examples because it s common
to promote the lack of scientific consensus on climate change, which is not recognized by most
scientists. In using misconception based instruction, teaching just the scientific facts is not the only
route to education; instead, the scientific concepts are presented along with refuting common
misconceptions regarding the scientific topics. Critical thinking is important and teaching students to
evaluate information or sources is even more important; however, learning is also about presenting
new information and fitting this new knowledge into the existing mental models students have
(Kunkle Monroe, 2015, p. 153). This is the struggle how do students reconfigure their mental models
to accommodate to knowledge and trim

Criminal Punishment And The Criminal Justice System
Few decisions in the criminal justice system apply as much influence over the life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness of criminal offenders as the final sentencing decision. Judges have an extensive
range of sentencing options. These options range from fines, restitution, and probation to incarceration
in jail or prison. For much of the 20th century, criminal sentencing practices remained largely
unchanged in the United States. Over the past few decades, we have witnessed a practical revolution
in criminal punishment processes. A number of different sentencing reforms have been recently
expanded, resulting in a mix of different legal approaches to sentencing in the United States today. I
will begin with a brief overview of sentencing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, rehabilitation is a philosophy of punishment that stresses individual offender reform.
According to this perception, the purpose of this punishment should be to address the fundamental
causes of crime in order to reduce future offending. In practice, these various sentencing foundations
often coincide, throughout history major changes in sentencing have often followed model changes in
major philosophies of punishment.
During colonial times, criminal sentencing in America was initially based on retribution and then later
on deterrence (Walker, 1998). By the late 1800s, however, sentencing in America had become
carefully conquered by rehabilitation. The goal of criminal punishment was to reform the offender by
shifting the basic causes of crime. In order to accomplish this, criminal sentences had to be necessarily
flexible to be separately reformed to the sole needs of particular offenders. This led to a system of
punishment known as indeterminate sentencing. Sentences often consisted of wide ranges of minimum
and maximum terms that could spring from a single day to a lifetime in prison. These far reaching
sentences provided maximum flexibility for determining when an offender was therefore ready to be
released back into society.
Judges would determine the ranges of punishment, and then release their decisions to be made by
prison authorities or parole boards. Such authorities would exercise considerable discretion in

Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease and inflammation of the liver which caused by the hepatitis
C Virus(HCV). This disease was belongs the the microbial group of virus. This infection is
asymptomatic, but it is a chronic infection that may lead to scarring of the liver and ultimately to
cirrhosis. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections.
When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. Acute Hepatitis C refers to the
first several months after someone is infected. Acute infection can range in severity from a very mild
illness with few or no symptoms to a serious condition which require hospitalization.
There are about 20% of people are able to clear or get rid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only way to know if you have Hepatitis C is to get tested. A blood test called Hepatitis
C Antibody Test. This test helps to look for antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus. Antibodies are
chemicals released into the bloodstream when someone gets infected. Antibodies remain in the
bloodstream even the person already cleared from the virus. A positive or reactive Hepatitis C
Antibody
Test means that a person has been infected with the Hepatitis C virus at some point in time. However,
a positive antibody test does not necessarily mean a person still has Hepatitis C. In addition, RNA test
is needed to determine if a person is currently infected with Hepatitis C. Even if there is currently no
vaccine to prevent Hepatitis C, there are still ways to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the
Hepatitis C virus. First, avoid sharing or reusing needles, syringes or any other equipment to prepare
and inject drugs, steroids, hormones, or other substances. Second, do not use personal items that may
have come into contact with an infected person s blood, even in amounts too small to see, such as
razors, nail clippers, toothbrushes, or glucose monitors. Third, do not get tattoos or body piercings

3 overall objectives, political climate, and pre feasibility studies. In the development phase, the
discussion addresses the overall planning, feasibility studies, financing, and conceptual design. In the
implementation phase, the discussion addresses detailed design, construction, installation, testing, and

The Inception Phase
During the inception phase, the initial scope of the Chunnel was to create a fixed transportation link
between England and France. The expectation was that this would spur economic development,
improve European trade, and provide an alternative high speed transportation method to the existing
modes (planes and ferry boats).
In 1984, the British and French governments agreed to some common safety, environmental, and

governments asked for proposals. Various proposals were submitted, and in 1986 the project was

Guilt In And Then There Were None
In the novel, And Then There Were None, guilt affects most of the characters either consciously, and
subconsciously. This affects their behavior, dreams, or even leads to hallucinations. Vera Claythorne
and Dr. Armstrong both have their guilt effect their time on the island and even their death. Both of
their guilt grows by watching others on the island die. Vera Claythorne enters the novel with guilt on
her conscious over the death of Cyril. She has dreams and hallucinations about the boy s death. As
soon as Vera steps onto the island, she begins to think, The sea. . . So peaceful today sometimes so
cruel. . . The sea dragged you down to its depths. Drowned. . . Found drowned. . . Drowned at sea
(Christie 35). Her guilt intensifies as the novel progresses, she remembers the boy constantly nagging
her about swimming to the far rock. She also hallucinates, And then, as she stood there listening a
cold, clammy hand touched her throat a wet hand smelling of the sea (Christie 217). Her guilt and fear

Armstrong works very hard to cover up the murder he committed, even though he does have some
guilt. He begins to dream, His hands were clammy. Difficult to hold the scalpel firmly. . . How

murder (Christie 91). Armstrong remembers operating on the women he killed while drunk, and he
does feel remorse for his actions. Subconsciously he acts as though he is fighting a battle within
himself and begins to go crazy while others on the island die. He says to himself, Drunk that s what it
was drunk . . . And I operated! Nerves all to pieces hands shaking. I killed her all right (Christie 71).
He also keeps dreaming about operating on people on the island. Dr. Armstrong is the scapegoat of the

Genesis 16 Essay
Genesis 16 tells the story leading up to the birth of Ishmael. The story consists of two main parts. The
conflicts between the three characters, Abram, Sarai, and Hagar, make up the first part of the story.
The second part consists of the discussion between Hagar and God. Abram and his wife, Sarai, have
had difficulty producing a child. Therefore, Sarai offers Hagar, her Egyptian slave girl, to Abram.
Eventually Hagar becomes pregnant. Upon this realization, Hagar begins to look with contempt,
towards Sarai. Sarai goes to Abram for some advice on how to deal with Hagar. Abram pushes the
matter off his hands by telling Sarai that she has power over Hagar and to deal with her own slave girl.
Consequently, Sarai treats Hagar harshly, which causes Hagar to flee. God finally makes an
appearance in the story. An angel of the Lord finds Hagar and tells her to go back to her mistress and
to submit. God makes a promise to Hagar that she will have a large number of offspring, similarly to
God s promise to Abram. Finally, Hagar names God, El roi, before returning to Sarai. God does not
intervene or even show up until the second part of the story. Due to God s absence in the beginning of
the story, the reader may question what the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Children were ultimately the purpose of marriage. Without children, a family cannot continue and
whatever property the family owns would be lost. The view of women was that they are property and

then she is not holding up her responsibility within the marriage. It falls on Sarai to find someone to

What Does It Mean To Be Italian
What does it mean to be Italian? Is it the way that we communicate with each other or the values that
we hold? Are we proud of the way we eat during every meal with multiple courses that feel like they
are never ending? It is a combination of all of these things, and that is what makes the Italian culture
so great. It is important to discuss an understanding of the culture before discussing the
communication rules and norms. It is important to talk about the values, style, and religion that goes
along with the Italian culture.

Like with any company, many businesses prefer to do business with people that they respect and trust.
Many companies do not start doing any business with people until they can truly trust the person they

used as a time to establish the respect and trust for each other. Trust and respect are very important in
times of crisis. People want to know that they can trust the company and in 2008 during the financial

a. Calling a cellular company s customer service number and lodging a complaint.
b. The flow chart above elaborates the process of expressing one s grievance and lodging a complaint
to the cellular company from start to end. The steps involved will be classified into two categories,
value added services and non value added services. A justification will be provided for the
classification.
Value added steps
. Find customer care number online
A consumer is required to go online and find the respective numbers for the cellular company he/she
wants to reach. Usually, the company has a standard IVR(interactive voice response) in place and the
consumers are provided with a toll free number on the website. This is step is inevitable as one needs
to reach the company s customer service line in order to lodge his/her complaint.
. Call the customer service number
A toll free number can be obtained by the consumer via the company s website. The toll free number
would be represented as 1 888 XXX XXXX. The customer makes a call to the number in order to find
a solution to the problem.
. Follow instructions on IVR
In this step is where the problem begins, the IVR s are usually not customer friendly and the menu list
are very vast and it requires a great deal of patience from the customers side but, you need to go
through multiple lists and find a desired option and click the respective extension.

The Vision Of Empire Held By Wilberforce And The Clapham Sect
Analyse the vision of Empire held by Wilberforce and the Clapham Sect.
During Wilberforce s lifetime the British Empire expanded and proceed to be the dominant force in
the world as an economic, military and political power. At its height it was the largest empire in
history and for over a century was the world s foremost power. A power such as this had a
considerable bearing on the people which habituated and worked to serve the power behind it as both
MPs and people of significant social standing amongst its population as the elite. Therefore this essay
will evaluate the vision of the Empire held Wilberforce and his contemporaries in the Clapham Sect.
The Clapham Sect was a group of Evangelical Christians who resided near Clapham and formed a
strong community amongst one another. The group was ardently committed to Practical Christianity
and abolishing slavery. This is summarised succinctly by Together, this Clapham fellowship sought to
make the British Empire an instrument of social and moral welfare to all people. This commonly held
view shows that the Clapham Sect knew the magnitude and the significance the British Empire held
and could use this as a platform to project their christian ideals onto people who in their eyes were
worse off for not conforming to these ideals. The Empire was seen as something that could enlighten
through Christianity, however it brought violence through Slavery, the biggest demon in the eyes of
the Clapham Sect therefore it is of

Symptoms Of Disorder, By John Warns
One of the most obvious, yet in the nineteenth century completely unrecognised and undiagnosed,
reasons behind symptoms of supposed insanity would be post natal depression. Gilmans narrator
suffers from just this as she exclaims: Such a dear baby! And yet I CANNOT be with him, it makes
me so nervous , conveying a certain disconnection with her son. The narrator feels her husband fails to
understand her perspective: she is the complete opposite of her public sphere husband who is practical
in the extreme... and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in
figures . She yearns for a life which she believes this domestic role has stolen from her: Gilman s
narrator longs to write but John warns that with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The intersection of confinement and gender is shown in the passage where the narrator says and she is
all the time trying to crawl through. But nobody could climb through that pattern it strangles so; I
think that is why it has so many heads. , the narrator sometimes sees many, many women imprisoned
by the pattern. The pattern she sees on the wallpaper is a microcosm of society in which she, along
with all women, is supressed of any desires other than those seen as etiquette.
The narrator comes to an epic epiphany in TYW as she becomes empowered by confidence and self
belief, which she desperately lacks throughout the story. When she says I ve got out at last , it is
arguable that this sudden confidence was sprouted from her challenge with her self identity, leading
her to mental degradation. The mental degradation is ambiguous however; it could be argued that this
is only a stage of imaginative and possibly even physical freedom that the character is experiencing.
Without this effect of insanity the change in status between John and the narrator would not have been
possible because she would remain as subdued as she ever was. There is a similar revelation in ADH
with Nora seemingly breaking away from Torvald s restraints however, this time with a lack of mental
illness. Nora s realisation involves more of a conscious decision in the sense that her mind was not
obscured by any mental illness; she finally

Parable Of The Lost Sheep
How is Luke s claim on the repentance of sinners in the Parable of the Lost Sheep being illustrated by
the differences in detail found, in comparison to the Gospels of Matthew and Thomas?
The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the many parables Jesus gave during his lifetime. It is found in
the two canonical gospels: Matthew 18:10 14 and Luke 15:3 10. It is also found in the non canonical
gospel of Thomas 107. It is about a shepherd who leaves his flock of ninety nine sheep behind to go
look for the one sheep that is lost. This context is similar in all of the three Gospels.
However, although there are similarities, there are also differences. These differences have an
implication for the message grasped by the readers. The focus will be on the repentance of sinners
claimed in the Gospel of Luke and how it differs from the messages found in the other two Gospels. I
will do this by analyzing the effect of the differences in language, symbolic representation, the
location of the parable, audience, and the context in which it is written, found in these three Gospels.
In terms of symbolic presentation, Luke uses the word sinners to compare them to the sheep as seen in
verse 7, ...one sinner who repents... Jesus is giving a reason why he is friends of tax collectors and
sinners. This is because they are like the sheep, lost and need saving through repentance. In the Gospel
of Matthew, Jesus uses the words little ones . Jesus uses these words after giving a lesson about

Central High School Case Study
As a taxpayer of Morgan County s 3rd District and a parent whose children attend CHS and CMS; I

Relationship Between Milk Market Participation
In this chapter, we study the relationship between the milk market participation of smallholder
households and women`s intra household bargaining power in Ethiopia. Our data show that household
income is indeed substantially higher in milk market participating households (101 versus 49 birr
daily). This higher income of participating households is almost completely earned by selling raw
milk to the market. The other way of receiving milk income processing raw milk into butter and
cottage cheese for sale at the local market is much less important in market participant households
than in non participant households.
This difference has important consequences for the distribution of income within the household. Milk
income from the formal market is received and controlled by men (who sign the contract with the milk
company), whereas income from the local market is received and controlled by women. The
consequences for the intra household distribution of income are clearly reflected in our data. In milk
market participant households, men`s milk income is on average 93 birr per day, whereas in non
participant households men do not earn income from milk on a daily bases. Women tend to earn and
control the entire dairy income in non participant households (34 birr per day), but earn only 4 birr
milk income per day in market participant households.
The central goal of the current study was to find out what the consequences of this change are for the
bargaining position of

How Did The Gold Rushes Affect Australia s Economy
Introduction

Major Advancements Of The Iron During The 19th Century
An iron is a handheld implement with a heated flat metal base, used to remove creases and folds from
fabric(Cambridge Dictionary, 2016). However, this recognizable household appliance has undergone
several significant advancements since its initial invention, which has been traced back to Europe in
the 1300s (Smoothing Iron, 2016). Three major advancements of the iron occurred in the 19th century
which revolutionize the ironing process; the Victorian Iron, Mrs Potts removable handle sadiron and
the electric iron. Influenced by economic growth, societal expectations and technological and
scientific advancements the iron under went changes in form, meaning and purpose. The three major
changes can be analysed to reveal what influenced the change and the resulting impact on the user and
user experience.
The starting point:
The Middle Ages saw the invention of the sadiron, a flat piece of iron which was heated then pressed
on to clothing to remove creases. For several centuries ironing process involved:
1. The iron was heated over a fire or on stove. Experience revealed when the iron was hot enough for
use but not too hot to scold the clothing
2. A piece of fabric was place over the item of clothing to be ironed to ensure that the exposed metal
did not leave a mark
3. Then the iron was pressed onto the item to remove any unwanted creases
The iron did not stay hot for very long and had to be continually reheated resulting in a laborious and
extensive process to item just a

Education Is The Most Powerful Weapon Essay
PSC 443 Nelson Mandela said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the world. ( Top 10 Education Quotes) Education is a highly debated topic and many countries are in
constant competition to be on top. Two countries who focus heavily on education are Japan and
Germany. These two countries differ in a multitude of ways as to how they choose to educate their
youth. In Germany, children age three to six can attend pre school, however, pre school is not free and
kindergarten is not required. At six, schooling typically begins for most children when they attend
Grundschule for four years. Grundschule is the equivalent of primary school and then leads to one of
three categories of secondary school. Secondary school contains Hauptschule, Realschule, and
Gymnasium, (German school system). In Japan, children go straight from pre school, which is not
required, to elementary school (Deutsche Industrie). On average, German students will spend five
years at Hauptschule preparing to go to work in the real world. Once students complete their training,
they can go to vocational school, begin working, or go to Berufsfachschule which is a full time
vocational school. Students who attend Realshule go for six years. Students typically receive a more
vocationally oriented education than students who attend Gymnasium. Gymnasium is eight to nine
years and is intended to educate students so that they can go on to study at university (German school

When many people hear Asian, they automatically think of a Chinese person, but in reality Asian
people consist of Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, etc. One of these asian cultures is the Korean Culture.

them such as their symbols that have flourished and were made to represent the people of that culture.
Some of these symbols consist of national symbols that reveals the people of South Korea greatest

Cultural Factors Influencing Voter Participation
The reason why nation have different turnout and protest rates vary across the people and across the
nations is because there are many different variables that go into these two very common activities.
While it might not seem to be the best way to lump together two seemingly different political
activities, both voter turnout and protesting play off many of the same emotions and reasoning for
people. The Fornos et al. article produce four main reason why voter s turnout to vote and these four
explanations can also protests: political cultural factors; socioeconomic variables; institutional
variables; and the political process.
In their article, they describe their sets of explanations. The cultural explanation emphases certain
customs within a given culture/region, which play an important role in influencing voter participation.
The socioeconomic variables serve as tools to predict level of civic and political attentiveness.
Institutional and technical designs that may hinder or facilitate the casting of votes is the scheme of
how the government is set up with the voting systems. The final set of explanation concerns the
political process per se, meaning the perception of fairness, transparence, and political effectiveness.
Fornos et al. concludes that the higher the percentage of these ideas the higher electoral participation
could be predicted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Zora Neale Hurston Identity
During the time of Zora Neale Hurston, the cultural and social movement of the Harlem Renaissance
inspired a new black cultural identity. The Harlem Renaissance was a blossoming of African American
culture, particularly in the creative arts, and the most influential movement in African American
literary history during the early twentieth century (Hutchinson). During this time, blacks were on a
journey of self discovery, remaking their collective image to define the New Negro. Black female
writers of this time, such as Zora Neale Hurston, wrote about the everyday reality and struggles that
average black women endured and conquered in order to move away from Old Negro ideas. Hurston

the chair and the long braids of her hair swung low on the other side (Hurston 18). Usually, braided

Nigerian Creation Myth
There is a huge debate about how the world was created and who was first. It can also be questioned if
god created mankind or if mankind created god. There are many different beliefs to how mankind was
created but they are all connected in some way. It can be said that god came first because there needed
to be one person that then realized more people were needed on Earth as mentioned in the creation
myths for Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nigeria. These all talk about different ways that god decided how
mankind should be created. The creation myth for Venezuela starts off with the creator of Earth and
Sky, Wanadi. He then decided that he could not rule the Earth and the Sky so he made a copy of
himself to rule the Earth. When Wanadi II was on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He created these people and gave them traits that have now become societal norms. Women are the
ones who have children and have long hair. Men were the head of the household and had short hair. In
addition, he made people different by creating a variety of ethnicities and languages. Not everyone
was like him because they all have different traits that make them unique. This shows that there had to
be a god first that would be able to create all the different people in the world.
The Nigeria creation myth talks about how Obatala created land on the ground and also created people
because he got bored by himself. As he created the people out of clay, he got drunk and caused the
people to have deformities. But, he took ownership of his mistakes and now protects the people that
have deformities.
Since Obatala made a mistake that affected a lot of people it shows that a god had to have created
mankind because he is the reasoning behind people s deformities. The Yoruba people have the belief
that he protects anyone that has a deformity. Without the mistake of the god, the people on earth
would not have deformities. This is connected to the modern world because not everyone looks the
same and some people are born with deformities. People with deformities turn out to be strong and
other people do not question why some people have these deformities. The Yoruba people do not all
look the same therefore, god had to have come first so there could be differences in

What Is Ikea
What are IKEA s competitive priorities? IKEA s competitive priorities basically fall into two major
categories: price and design. It wants to have the greatest number of people afford, at the lowest cost
possible, its good quality and functional products. They put logic in the design of their products which
helps IKEA to price lower than competition while maintaining certain quality standard.
1. Describe IKEA s process for developing a new product. IKEA s process for developing a new
product is not just about changing the physical attributes of an item, say its Trofé mugs. What is
crucial in the design is the cost to be incurred in producing one unit of mug. To determine this cost, a
team is organized consisting of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, IKEA also has good customer service in their stores by providing a place for the kids while
their parents do the shopping. The store layout is very personal, such that the customer can seat and
feel the comfort while choosing what suits the customer s priorities. The brochures given out to
customers guide them in making decisions. Their easy credit also adds value to customers by making
the products more affordable/reasonable. IKEA has put customer ownership on a higher level by
involving them not just in the buying process but also in the assembly of furniture in their homes.
3. What are the good practices described in the case? How can I apply or implement these good
practices in my company? There are a lot to learn from the case. First is in the continuous efforts put
forth by the company at all levels possible to lower their cost, which translates to lower cost for the
customers. The company has also successfully integrated ethical dimensions in manufacturing their
products. Lastly is their good customer service. My work as a marketing person from Wyeth primarily
deals with developing long term business relationship with customers and there is a cost associated to
that. I do this by implementing marketing programs. However, a careful scrutiny of the program must

Theme Of Family In The Book I Alex Cross
In the book I, Alex Cross by James Patterson, the protagonist, Alex Cross, and his family living in the
nation s capital must solve a beloved niece s murder, and uncover the truth about the magnates of the
country all while nurturing the growing wound of the loss of a family member. In the book Angels and
Demons by Dan Brown, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon discovers the resurgence of an ancient
brotherhood known as the Illuminati, and flies to Rome to warn the Vatican, the Illuminati s most
hated enemy. Following the death of the Catholic pope, he works together with Italian scientist
Vittoria Vetra, and follows a centuries old trail to prevent the murder of the Preferiti, the four most
promising cardinals to succeed the late pope and take the papal office themselves all while searching
for a canister of antimatter that could obliterate the Vatican and themselves if left unchecked. While
these books share certain similarities, including the settings, they contain drastic differences, such as
themes and the role of certain aspects of religion.
Both of the books I, Alex Cross and Angels and Demons share a theme of family but on a drastically
different scale. In I, Alex Cross, this theme is expressed throughout and almost exclusively throughout
Alex Cross s family. Much of the book is centered around this theme, often showing scenes of one
family member supporting one another how they are coping together after the horrible incident of
Caroline s death.

Renaissance Era Addiction
The Renaissance Era was the period immediately following the Middle Ages. The Renaissance Era
brought back an interest in classical learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome. While the
Renaissance brought back classical learning and values, it brought with it addition. Addiction is
described as a compulsive need for and use of a habit forming substance characterized by tolerance
and by well defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal. (https://www.merriam
webster.com/dictionary/addiction) One drug that caused addiction during the Renaissance Era was
opium. Another cause of addiction during the Renaissance Era is the lead based make up. Lastly,
alcoholism was another source of addiction that plagued the people of the Renaissance Era. This essay
will be used to discuss how these addictions began, their probable outcome, health issues related to
these addictions, and how we treat these addictions today. First, the origin of Opium within the
Renaissance Era will be discussed. Opium poppy spread from its original homeland somewhere
between the Western Mediterranean and Asia Minor into southern Europe in Neolithic times and
spread across the Middle East and Asia. Arabs were the main traders of opium on global trade routes
and within the eastern Mediterranean until Venice rose as the premier Mediterranean commercial hub
by the 13th/14th centuries, and with it took over the trade in what was at this time still a wholly legal
substance, largely used as a

The God s Wife Of Amun
Beginning this middle kingdom of Egypt, the most significant position a women can hold, was God s
wife of Amun. There were several God s Wives linked with certain gods, and originally, in the Middle
Kingdom, the God s Wife of Amun was solely just one among many. The God s Wife was an
honorable name given to a woman (usually the upper class women of Egypt) who would aid the high
priest in ceremonies and tend to the god s statue. Soon at the beginning of the Third Intermediate
Period, the God s Wife of Amun was in the same in authority with the king and successfully reigned
Upper Egypt. During the New Kingdom period, the most well known of the God s Wives was no other
than pharaoh Hatshepsut, but there were many other women to hold the office before and after her
such as Nefertiti. As mentioned previously, a women can only be a priestess if she is a scribe. The

Essay Silver Linings Playbook Review
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK REVIEW Everyone has quirks that make him or her an individual.
We filter through life, attempting to seamlessly weave our oddities into a normal person. As difficult
as trying to fit circles into squares, the silver lining in these valiant attempts is that the normal person
doesn t exist. That is what writer director David O. Russell understood when making The Silver
Linings Playbook, The film is a fantastic study in how our individual quirks, though varying in degree,
have the ability to render all of us completely insane. The film focuses on disgraced former
schoolteacher Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) as he attempts to reinvent himself using life s silver
linings. The film begins when Solitano is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film is obviously based on a novel. The dialogue, setting and subtle incongruities lend itself to
pen and paper as opposed to a movie theatre. It needs a novel s freedom to slowly develop characters.
The dialogue between Cooper and Lawrence feels ridiculous when your reality has only been
suspended for the film s 122 minute run time. However, this is not the fault of either actor. In fact,
Lawrence is stellar as the blunt, widowed sex addict who refuses to allow Pat to pretend that his
relationship with is ex wife is salvageable. In fact, Tiffany becomes Pat s reason even though she is
just insane as he is. The humor and sexual tension between the actors is palpable despite sappy,
unrealistic lines such as Pat s love confession: The only way to beat my crazy was by doing something
even crazier. Thank you. I love you. I knew it from the moment I saw you. I m sorry it took me so
long to catch up. The catalyst in the story is not, in fact, Pat s mental illness, so much as his father s
own problems. Robert De Neiro is stupendous as an aging Eagles fan that refuses to give up on his
idea of normal. Solitano Sr. is the antagonist; frequently begging Pat to abandon his silver linings and
conform to Solitano Sr s own demented ideas. The tension between Cooper and De Neiro is amazing.
The most realistic aspect of the entire film is when

interesting. The Chinese are not very religious, and have blended different religions over time. In
business, the Chinese value relationships. In architecture, symmetry and width are strong eg
Forbidden city. Chinese food is very important, and local recipes are now found all over the world.
Cultural activities, like the Temple Fair and the Lantern Festival (Chinese New Year) are special times
for locals.
Customs Tipping is NOT part of the Chinese culture, haggling is normal. Beijing though which has
many tourists and has become somewhat used to tipping. Greeting each other in China is by bowing or
nodding. When addressing people use their title and surname. Acknowledge the oldest person first. In
China you should avoid physical contact, and especially avoid touching a woman in public. Public
displays of affection are frowned on. Dress in most settings in China people are expected to dress
modestly, not showing too much bare skin. Public toilets often just a hole in the floor = No privacy!.

  • 3. The Socio Economic Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socio economic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main socio economic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an adolescent mother in New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of education is considered as a socio economic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by the second theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment and welfare dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from family and friends lead to unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of education is one of the main socio economic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping out of school at an early age. For example, youth that tend to gain fewer educational qualifications are more likely to be in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding contraceptive use which leaves them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens, 2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson, Horwood, ... • 4. Life Science Controversy After reading the chapter and reflecting on this topic, I felt more panicked than before thinking deeply into this topic. Life science curriculum is filled with controversial topics ranging from evolution to climate change to GMO s to vaccines to human impacts on the Earth. Teaching these topics are essential to building both the science literacy and the environmental literacy that I am passionate for in students; however, the methodology used is complicated, muddy and stressful. Kunkle and Monroe (2015) recommended seven key suggestions to teaching controversial topics: knowing your audience, framing information, avoiding the overuse of emotional appeals, making behavior change easier, tapping into learners self identities, focusing on localized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4), instead of the teach the controversy approach. Misconception based instruction acknowledges and explains the controversy, and recognizes the differences between social and scientific controversy (para. 5). Furthermore, Cook found research that indicated the negative impacts of presenting both sides of scientific debates. He highlights climate changes through his examples because it s common to promote the lack of scientific consensus on climate change, which is not recognized by most scientists. In using misconception based instruction, teaching just the scientific facts is not the only route to education; instead, the scientific concepts are presented along with refuting common misconceptions regarding the scientific topics. Critical thinking is important and teaching students to evaluate information or sources is even more important; however, learning is also about presenting new information and fitting this new knowledge into the existing mental models students have (Kunkle Monroe, 2015, p. 153). This is the struggle how do students reconfigure their mental models to accommodate to knowledge and trim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Criminal Punishment And The Criminal Justice System Few decisions in the criminal justice system apply as much influence over the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of criminal offenders as the final sentencing decision. Judges have an extensive range of sentencing options. These options range from fines, restitution, and probation to incarceration in jail or prison. For much of the 20th century, criminal sentencing practices remained largely unchanged in the United States. Over the past few decades, we have witnessed a practical revolution in criminal punishment processes. A number of different sentencing reforms have been recently expanded, resulting in a mix of different legal approaches to sentencing in the United States today. I will begin with a brief overview of sentencing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, rehabilitation is a philosophy of punishment that stresses individual offender reform. According to this perception, the purpose of this punishment should be to address the fundamental causes of crime in order to reduce future offending. In practice, these various sentencing foundations often coincide, throughout history major changes in sentencing have often followed model changes in major philosophies of punishment. During colonial times, criminal sentencing in America was initially based on retribution and then later on deterrence (Walker, 1998). By the late 1800s, however, sentencing in America had become carefully conquered by rehabilitation. The goal of criminal punishment was to reform the offender by shifting the basic causes of crime. In order to accomplish this, criminal sentences had to be necessarily flexible to be separately reformed to the sole needs of particular offenders. This led to a system of punishment known as indeterminate sentencing. Sentences often consisted of wide ranges of minimum and maximum terms that could spring from a single day to a lifetime in prison. These far reaching sentences provided maximum flexibility for determining when an offender was therefore ready to be released back into society. Judges would determine the ranges of punishment, and then release their decisions to be made by prison authorities or parole boards. Such authorities would exercise considerable discretion in ... A blood test called Hepatitis C Antibody Test. This test helps to look for antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus. Antibodies are chemicals released into the bloodstream when someone gets infected. However, a positive antibody test does not necessarily mean a person still has Hepatitis C. In addition, RNA test is needed to determine if a person is currently infected with Hepatitis C. Even if there is currently no vaccine to prevent Hepatitis C, there are still ways to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the Hepatitis C virus. • 11. Genesis 16 Essay Genesis 16 tells the story leading up to the birth of Ishmael. The story consists of two main parts. The conflicts between the three characters, Abram, Sarai, and Hagar, make up the first part of the story. The second part consists of the discussion between Hagar and God. Abram and his wife, Sarai, have had difficulty producing a child. Therefore, Sarai offers Hagar, her Egyptian slave girl, to Abram. Eventually Hagar becomes pregnant. Upon this realization, Hagar begins to look with contempt, towards Sarai. Sarai goes to Abram for some advice on how to deal with Hagar. Abram pushes the matter off his hands by telling Sarai that she has power over Hagar and to deal with her own slave girl. Consequently, Sarai treats Hagar harshly, which causes Hagar to flee. God finally makes an appearance in the story. An angel of the Lord finds Hagar and tells her to go back to her mistress and to submit. God makes a promise to Hagar that she will have a large number of offspring, similarly to God s promise to Abram. Finally, Hagar names God, El roi, before returning to Sarai. Are we proud of the way we eat during every meal with multiple courses that feel like they are never ending? It is important to discuss an understanding of the culture before discussing the communication rules and norms. • 15. The Vision Of Empire Held By Wilberforce And The Clapham Sect Analyse the vision of Empire held by Wilberforce and the Clapham Sect. During Wilberforce s lifetime the British Empire expanded and proceed to be the dominant force in the world as an economic, military and political power. At its height it was the largest empire in history and for over a century was the world s foremost power. A power such as this had a considerable bearing on the people which habituated and worked to serve the power behind it as both MPs and people of significant social standing amongst its population as the elite. Therefore this essay will evaluate the vision of the Empire held Wilberforce and his contemporaries in the Clapham Sect. The Clapham Sect was a group of Evangelical Christians who resided near Clapham and formed a strong community amongst one another. The group was ardently committed to Practical Christianity and abolishing slavery. This is summarised succinctly by Together, this Clapham fellowship sought to make the British Empire an instrument of social and moral welfare to all people. This commonly held view shows that the Clapham Sect knew the magnitude and the significance the British Empire held and could use this as a platform to project their christian ideals onto people who in their eyes were worse off for not conforming to these ideals. The Empire was seen as something that could enlighten through Christianity, however it brought violence through Slavery, the biggest demon in the eyes of the Clapham Sect therefore it is of ... Symptoms Of Disorder, By John Warns One of the most obvious, yet in the nineteenth century completely unrecognised and undiagnosed, reasons behind symptoms of supposed insanity would be post natal depression. Gilmans narrator suffers from just this as she exclaims: Such a dear baby! And yet I CANNOT be with him, it makes me so nervous , conveying a certain disconnection with her son. The narrator feels her husband fails to understand her perspective: she is the complete opposite of her public sphere husband who is practical in the extreme... and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures . The pattern she sees on the wallpaper is a microcosm of society in which she, along with all women, is supressed of any desires other than those seen as etiquette. The narrator comes to an epic epiphany in TYW as she becomes empowered by confidence and self belief, which she desperately lacks throughout the story. When she says I ve got out at last , it is arguable that this sudden confidence was sprouted from her challenge with her self identity, leading her to mental degradation. The mental degradation is ambiguous however; it could be argued that this is only a stage of imaginative and possibly even physical freedom that the character is experiencing. Without this effect of insanity the change in status between John and the narrator would not have been possible because she would remain as subdued as she ever was. Parable Of The Lost Sheep How is Luke s claim on the repentance of sinners in the Parable of the Lost Sheep being illustrated by the differences in detail found, in comparison to the Gospels of Matthew and Thomas? The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the many parables Jesus gave during his lifetime. It is found in the two canonical gospels: Matthew 18:10 14 and Luke 15:3 10. It is also found in the non canonical gospel of Thomas 107. It is about a shepherd who leaves his flock of ninety nine sheep behind to go look for the one sheep that is lost. This context is similar in all of the three Gospels. However, although there are similarities, there are also differences. These differences have an implication for the message grasped by the readers. The focus will be on the repentance of sinners claimed in the Gospel of Luke and how it differs from the messages found in the other two Gospels. I will do this by analyzing the effect of the differences in language, symbolic representation, the location of the parable, audience, and the context in which it is written, found in these three Gospels. In terms of symbolic presentation, Luke uses the word sinners to compare them to the sheep as seen in verse 7, ...one sinner who repents... • 22. Relationship Between Milk Market Participation In this chapter, we study the relationship between the milk market participation of smallholder households and women`s intra household bargaining power in Ethiopia. Our data show that household income is indeed substantially higher in milk market participating households (101 versus 49 birr daily). This higher income of participating households is almost completely earned by selling raw milk to the market. The other way of receiving milk income processing raw milk into butter and cottage cheese for sale at the local market is much less important in market participant households than in non participant households. This difference has important consequences for the distribution of income within the household. Milk income from the formal market is received and controlled by men (who sign the contract with the milk company), whereas income from the local market is received and controlled by women. The consequences for the intra household distribution of income are clearly reflected in our data. In milk market participant households, men`s milk income is on average 93 birr per day, whereas in non participant households men do not earn income from milk on a daily bases. Women tend to earn and control the entire dairy income in non participant households (34 birr per day), but earn only 4 birr milk income per day in market participant households. The God s Wife was an honorable name given to a woman (usually the upper class women of Egypt) who would aid the high priest in ceremonies and tend to the god s statue. Soon at the beginning of the Third Intermediate Period, the God s Wife of Amun was in the same in authority with the king and successfully reigned Upper Egypt. • 36. Essay Silver Linings Playbook Review SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK REVIEW Everyone has quirks that make him or her an individual. We filter through life, attempting to seamlessly weave our oddities into a normal person. As difficult as trying to fit circles into squares, the silver lining in these valiant attempts is that the normal person doesn t exist. That is what writer director David O. Russell understood when making The Silver Linings Playbook, The film is a fantastic study in how our individual quirks, though varying in degree, have the ability to render all of us completely insane. The film focuses on disgraced former schoolteacher Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) as he attempts to reinvent himself using life s silver linings. The film begins when Solitano is ... It needs a novel s freedom to slowly develop characters. The dialogue between Cooper and Lawrence feels ridiculous when your reality has only been suspended for the film s 122 minute run time. However, this is not the fault of either actor. In fact, Lawrence is stellar as the blunt, widowed sex addict who refuses to allow Pat to pretend that his relationship with is ex wife is salvageable. In fact, Tiffany becomes Pat s reason even though she is just insane as he is. The humor and sexual tension between the actors is palpable despite sappy, unrealistic lines such as Pat s love confession: The only way to beat my crazy was by doing something even crazier. Thank you. I love you. I knew it from the moment I saw you. I m sorry it took me so long to catch up. The catalyst in the story is not, in fact, Pat s mental illness, so much as his father s own problems. Robert De Neiro is stupendous as an aging Eagles fan that refuses to give up on his idea of normal. Solitano Sr. is the antagonist; frequently begging Pat to abandon his silver linings and conform to Solitano Sr s own demented ideas. The tension between Cooper and De Neiro is amazing. The most realistic aspect of the entire film is when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
