The Strength Of Muscle Clench Within Dominant And Non...
Using Electromyography to Detect the Strength of Muscle Clench in Dominant and Non Dominant
Arm of an Individual The human body contains three kinds of muscle tissue: cardiac muscle, smooth
muscle and skeletal muscle; each performs specific tasks to maintain homeostasis the tendency to
maintain a stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, mainly that which is maintained by
physiological processes. The primary function of muscle, regardless of kind, is to convert chemical
energy to mechanical work, which in turn allows the muscle to shorten or contracts. The muscle
tissues observed in this experiment is the skeletal muscle which are usually attached to the skeleton.
As a result, contraction of the skeletal muscle moves one part of the body with respect to another.
An increase in the strength of a muscle s contraction is necessary to perform a task. Subsequently, the
brain increases the number of simultaneously active motor units within the muscle by a process known
as the motor unit recruitment. Physical muscle movement in humans involves movement of fibers
which are hundreds of cylindrically shaped cells bound together by connective tissue. It is essential for
individuals, mainly professionals who work to promote health, to understand the mechanisms in the
body. Resting skeletal muscles in vivo exhibit a phenomenon known as tonus, a constant state of slight
tension that serves to maintain the muscle by motor centers in the brain and spinal cord. However,

Voltage Instability, Voltage And Instability
Abstract Voltage instability is one of the major power system problems which have appeared since the
existence of the power systems. This paper investigates the performance of Recurrent Neural
Networks (RNN) in voltage instability early prediction. Voltage instability early detection is necessary
for avoiding voltage collapse which can lead to power system fast breakdown. In this research, the bus
voltage phase is considered as the main factor of power system voltage instability early detection.
Voltage instability leads to a considerable change in the difference between the consecutive buses
voltage angles. A recurrent neural network trained with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is
proposed in this paper. The proposed method is examined on 14 bus and 30 bus IEEE standard
systems. These systems are simulated using MATLAB/Power System Toolbox program. The
performance of the proposed method is compared with Back propagation (BP) training algorithm.

I. INTRODUCTION
Voltage instability problems play a great role in power systems planning and operation. Nowadays,
power systems are being performed closer to their steadiness limits due to economic and
environmental constraints. Preserving a fixed and secure operation of the power system is hence a
very vital and challenging issue.
Therefore, it is highly suggested to take care of

The City s Housing Market
Location efficient neighborhoods, and employment and recreational opportunities in walking and
biking distances are attracting more and more people to reside in the downtown core. Studies show
that, since 1976, the residential population has doubled, with more than 240000 people living in the
Area and the ownership share has increased by almost two times since 1996 (City of Toronto. 2014b).
Accordingly, the City s housing market is dealing with more and more housing needs (CHBA, 2012;
Landau, 2013). Also, Toronto Official Plan identifies the Area, as a place to accommodate significant
population growth by 2041 (Ontario. Ministry of Finance, 2014). As a consequence, the value of land
in the Area is extensively increasing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To overcome the limitations in land supply, a number of municipal and provincial policies and
programs have been initialized to redirect growth, intensification to the existing built up sites in the
Area. These policies promote transforming or conversion of brown field sites (formerly deteriorating
industrial and commercial sites) as well as improvement of the un /under utilized lands and buildings,
and at grade parking lots, for high/dense condominium developments (Pantalone, 2014). The City
permits the conversion through re zoning or re designating of land from one use to the other, which
also overcomes the density controls imposed on those lands. For example, employment or brownfield
lands to mixed use or residential developments (Lehrer Wieditz, 2009). The conversion of land from
one use to another requires an amendment to zoning bylaws and, sometimes, an amendment to the
municipal Official Plan. This conversion is possible when the developers make a S37 agreement,
Density Bonusing agreement with the City of Toronto. 5.1.4 Housing Affordability Issues The City of
Toronto is recognized for its highest market based economy and housing costs in the country
(Wellesley Institute, 2014). In a market based economy, the market decides the major share of
housing. Today, the market of housing is burgeoning on most expensive

Treatment Of Sickle Cell Anemia Essay
Treatment Sickle Cell Anemia is a group of disorders that cause red blood cells to become misshapen
and break down. Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder in the United States,
affecting 70,000 to 80,000 Americans (Ashley Koch, Yang and Olney). Sickle Cell Anemia causes
your red blood cells to be thin, stiff, and shaped like a sickle. But your red blood cells are supposed to
be round and soft. A person that is diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, their blood cells start to become
clogged, causing blood clots, which can cause a great amount of health issues including: infections,
stroke, and acute chest syndrome. People get sickle cell anemia by inheriting a mutated gene from
both of their parents. On the down side, there is not currently an effective cure for sickle cell anemia,
there are several different therapeutic approaches to treating and attempting to cure the disease and
help people who are affected with sickle cell anemia better manage their symptoms. There have also
been several great scientists that dedicated a lot of research to help find a cure for sickle cell anemia.
Epidemiology and Genetics Sickle Cell Anemia is a disease that affects how oxygen is carried
throughout the body by blood. Specifically, sickle cell anemia is characterized by a change in the
shape of red blood cells from a smooth donut shape to a crescent or sickled shape, almost the same
shape as a crescent moon. The sickled cells are very long and stiff, so sometimes

The Themes Of Loneliness, By Francheska Gatpayat
A dusty pile of magazines could be found stacked inside Francheska Gatpayat s house. But she hasn t
got any interest reading fitness articles. Neither she wants to read about the current trends in clothing.
Instead, she would browse these magazines for pictures and cut them out.
Also known as Ches, the 22 year old BAArt Studies student from the University of the Philippines
Diliman loves slashing magazines. Gatpayat would separate collage worthy pictures from those not
and then would start gluing her selected images meticulously in a piece of hard paper. Aside from her
promoting traditional collage making, she has since used this as an avenue for self expression. And the
central theme of her works? Loneliness.
As a kid, Gatpayat felt lonely due to her parents being absent even if they were physically there. She
said her would father leave for work early morning while her mother would leave at night. In school, I
had friends, but at the end of the day, I m not with them, Gatpayat said in Filipino. ... Show more

How Is Imagery Used In The Sniper
The short story, The Sniper, takes place in Dublin, Ireland, in 1922, during the Irish Civil War. On the
rooftops, lay two snipers who are in the middle of a shootout, after dusk. The main character of focus,
a Republican sniper, is pursued throughout the whole story. Faced with numerous challenges, he
battles unbearable pain, atop the impossible situation placed before him. At certain times, he uses his
utter cleverness to outsmart the free state sniper. Eventually, he figures out that the man he shot was
his brother. Liam O Flaherty uses strong sensory and imagery details, inner thinking, and revealing
actions to support and enhance the short story, The Sniper.

The long June twilight faded into night. Dublin lay enveloped in darkness but for the dim light of the
moon that shone through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light as of approaching dawn over the streets
and the dark waters of the Liffey... Here and there through the city, machine guns and rifles broke the
silence of the night, spasmodically, like dogs barking on lone farms. Liam O Flaherty starts the story
off with a strong sense of detail, and it immediately emerges the reader into the story and makes them
envision being in Dublin at the time of the war. Halfway throughout the story, the sniper gets shot. The
author uses sensory details to create an image that makes the reader envision the actual pain the
character is battling against. Then taking out his field dressing, he ripped open the packet with his
knife. He broke the neck of the iodine bottle and let the bitter fluid drip into the wound. A paroxysm of
pain swept through him. He placed the cotton wadding over the wound and wrapped the dressing over
it. He tied the ends with his teeth. When the author emerges the reader into the story, it makes them
able to relate to the agony the sniper is in, which contributes back to the mood.

U.s. Dollar Generals ( Dgs )
Views from the DG Dollar Generals (DGs) are popping up left and right. DGs are now in our
backwards challenging all of our local businesses. Working at the DGs is not a hard job once the store
is stocked and ready for business. I used to see DGs as where sorry people worked because overtime,
people get lazy and let the DGs go and make it look almost impossible to get it back looking nice
again. But that was until my buddies and I started working at the new DG in Ino. We are all there to
make money to have for gas, keep girlfriends happy (which seems almost impossible to do), and other
expenses. We are determined to keep our DG up and running great with no dirty isles, no items stuck
behind others, and no rude employees. Dollar General is the place to shop because it has a good
trained staff, a friendly clean environment, and cheaper products to bring in more business. A store s
staff is like columns, holding up the stores foundation from mayhem. To be part of a staff anywhere
you have to be determined for whatever before you walk into the doors of that particular business to
work for. If you have a store with employees working for you and they are not trained, they won t
have a clue what tasks they are there to complete. Trained employees is a key to success in a business.

business. It s not hard to comprehend the basic needs of a good employee. A good employee help s a

Athletic Coaches Research Paper
If a group of students were asked who the biggest influence in their life was, many would say some
kind of coach. The general thought that comes to mind when discussing coaching is athletic coaches,
but coaching has a much broader spectrum. The major difference between a coach and other leaders is
commitment. Coaches help build plans for success for their followers and then follow their progress
until the goal is completed. In my life, I use coaching often with my younger siblings and still receive
coaching from my older brothers. It is important to me to check in with my little brother about school,
sports, and his goals. Having gone through it before, I can offer advice and suggestions and hopefully

Analysis Of The Tuskegee Experiment
Introduction Medical experiments on human subjects carry a great deal of ethical dilemma. In the
United States, there have been various experiments made on human subjects that raised the ire of
many people in the society. Many of the subjects were subject to drug experimentation, risky
operations and being infected with diseases just to know how the disease affects the body. One of
these experiments is the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment conducted to unknowing subjects for 40 years.

Syphilis is a venereal disease that can be contacted and spread by means of sexual intercourse. An
infected pregnant mother can also pass the disease to the unborn child during pregnancy. The disease
is caused by a corkscrew shaped bacterium called a spirochete, Treponema pallidum. The bacteria
cause sores or ulcers to appear on the skin of the penis, vagina, and mouth. In some occasions, the sore
can appear in the rectum, on the tongue, lips, or breast.
During sexual intercourse, the bacteria is transferred from the sore of the person and enters the moist
membranes of the sexual partner s penis, vagina, mouth, or rectum. Once the bacteria enter the body, it
multiplies at a fast rate. The bacteria enter the lymph circulation, which carries the bacteria to adjacent
lymph glands, which swells as a response to the infection. During the first stages of the disease, which
is called primary syphilis and lasts for a few weeks, sores and ulcers begin to develop, particularly in
the genital area of the victim. Blood tests during this stage may not reveal the disease yet, but the
bacteria can be scraped from the sores. Eventually, the sores will heal, and the victim may recover
from the disease without any treatment.
The second stage of the disease is called the secondary syphilis, which begins about two to six weeks
after the sores have healed.

I Am Contacting Your Up Coming Film Quilts
I am contacting you in concern for your up coming film Quilts. I have read the script that you sent to
my agency and have found the perfect women to play the part of the mother and the narrator. She fits
the role of a tough, traditional and loving single mother. My acquaintance Mama Johnson would be
the best candidate for this part. Mrs. Johnson may not have a lot of money but, has always provided
for her two girls Dee and Maggie. After a house fire that destroys their home, the Johnson s rebuild
and keep their family traditions alive.
Mama Johnson was born in the mid 1990 s, because the era she was born in was such a different time
period than today s generation, it brought hardships for young black women. Mrs. Johnson grew up
having very little money so; Mama parents taught her the ropes in order to help take care of her
family. These skills help Mama out when she becomes older and starts a family of her own. Mrs.
Johnson barely mentions her girls father but, as far as I can tell he is not their lives. So being raised as
a poor girl had its advantages because she now knows the ropes on how to be a mother and provide for
her family like a father.
Mrs. Johnson also takes pride in hard work and she works just as good has a man if not better. Mama
could do anything from shooting and skinning hogs to working from dusk till dawn. One time she got
kicked right between the eyes by a bull but, that did not stop her. She got right back up and had his

The Iroquois Dbq
Before the arrival of Europeans in the 1600 s, the Five Nations of the Iroquois lived under a
constitution that had three main principles, peace, justice, and the health of mind and body. The
Constitution of the Iroquois Confederacy offered compelling evidence of Native American rich and
sophisticated cultures with their well established democratic government with a form of religion and a
strong matriarchal system before the advent of Europeans.
The Iroquois Confederacy composed six nations: the Mohawks, the Oneidas, the Onondagas, the

The Funeral And Mourning Rituals Of Judaism
How are the customary funeral and mourning rituals of Judaism, Protestant Christianity, Roman
Catholicism, and Islam similar and different? Judaism and Islam have similar funeral practices. Both
Islam and Judaism appoint the responsibilities of the burial of the deceased within their communities.
Both traditions require the dead be buried as promptly as possible. It is for the body to be buried on
the same day of the death. Islam and Judaism forbid embalming and routine autopsies as desecration
of the dead. However, both religions consider organ donation as permissible. Muslims are strictly
forbidden from the process of cremation, while Jewish rules on cremation can vary depending on the
denomination. Conservative Jews oppose cremation while the process has become an increasingly
more popular and acceptable practice among Reform Jews.
In both religions the body is considered sacred and handled with care. Muslims are obligated to
perform a procedure known as ghusl, or washing, on the body of the deceased. This procedure should
be done by community members of the same gender. A deceased man should be washed by a male
relative and a deceased woman by a female relative. During the procedure all clothes are removed
from the body leaving the private areas covered. The deceased is then washed three times with a
combination of both water and scented oils. The body is then wrapped in a plain white cloth called a
kafan. The kafan is composed of three pieces of material for men and a

The crucial process of slavery was the biggest economic salvation in the United States for hundreds of
years. With time, many evangelical Americans began to emphasize the struggling lives of slaves in
order for them to be saved through the grace of their mighty God. In the early 1800s, the Second Great
Awakening rose to power to acknowledge the slaves and their rights as children of God. During the
Civil War (1861 1865), the Abolitionist Movement managed to abolish slavery through the 13th
Amendment on December 6, 1865. Later, Congress ratified the 14th Amendment in 1868 that granted
black people the same rights as white people in the nation. The statement, the right to vote ... to any of

Sight And Blind Sight
People generally do not realize what they have until they no longer have it, and sight is one of those
things that is overlooked. People are so unaware of their sight that they do not realize everyone has a
blind spot. However, this is not people s fault, as the brain is to blame for this lack of awareness
regarding sight and blind spots. The blind spot, where the optic disk resides, is located at the back of
the eye, where there are no cones or rods that detect light (photon) stimuli (Watson, N. V., Breedlove,
S. M. 2016). Consequently, blindsight is hard to detect in those who have it as it is caused by damage

M. 2016). While most synapses go to the V1 after going to the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN),
some, instead of synapsing at the LGN, end at other brain regions, such as the hypothalamus, the
pretectum, and the superior colliculus (Watson, N. V., Breedlove, S. M. 2016). These secondary
signals are a part of the visual system that does not involve cognitive vision. Since V1 is the main area
for cognitive vision, damage to this area is what has been found to cause what we now call blindsight
(de Gelder, B. 2010). Moreover, blindsight, which used to be known as residual vision, has been
studied and defined as a person who cannot cognitively see, but is still able to detect objects
subconsciously with their secondary visual locations. In the study of the person known as LN, the
subject was still able to avoid objects when walking through a hall with obstructions in his path,
although he was reported to be incapable of seeing. This remarkable behavior is associated to the
superior colliculus, which is part of the visual system, but is not active in cognitive vision. There are
also other properties associated with blindsight, including lines, simple shapes, movement, color, the
orientation of a line, and emotion (de Gelder, B. 2010). When there is damage to the visual system, the
parts of the visual system still functioning play a role in which property is still able to be recognized.

The Ghost of Toni Morrison s Beloved Essay
The Ghost of Beloved
One of the most engaging arguments about Toni Morrison s book Beloved is centered around the
nature of the girl Beloved. The argument is whether Beloved is simply a young woman who herself
had suffered the horrors of slavery, or the ghost of Sethe s crawling already? baby girl. The evidence
shows that Morrison intended Beloved to be the ghost of the crawling already? girl.
It has been said that there are basically two reasons why ghosts walk: they have either unfinished
business to attend to of have died a very violent death. The crawling already? girl fits both of these
profiles. She died without growing up, without knowing why she died. As a result, she has unfinished
business with her mother, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Beloved arrived, the scene was described with, Here Boy nowhere in sight. Here Boy could
sense that Beloved was the ghost and didn t want to be hurt again. Also, at the end of the book when
Beloved was already gone, Here Boy returned.
One of Paul D s biggest questions about Beloved was her skin. Her skin was like new skin, lineless
and smooth, including the knuckles of her hands . Most women in that time had lined, callused,
scarred hands by the time they were nineteen the scarring from playing when they were children and
lines and calluses from the housework. The crawling already? girl died when she was one with baby
new skin. It didn t have the time to become spoiled by labor and play.
Beloved also had trouble keeping her head up. She would, [rest] her head in the palm of her hand as
though it were too heavy for her neck alone. When Sethe killed the baby girl, she held its head up
because she had cut so deeply, it almost severed the girl s head. If the Beloved were the ghost, she
would have great troubles holding her head up because her neck had been severed.
When a person dies, certain things happen to their bodies. For instance, they become very cold
because the heart is no longer pumping blood through the body. All the blood stops, and settles

Compare The Gift And I Ask My Mother To Sing
The Gift vs. I ask my mother to sing Poetry is the revelation of a feeling that the poet believes to be
interior and personal which the reader recognizes as his own. Salvatore Quasimodo, (Flavorwire.com).
Many can resonate with this quote because poetry can even be appealing to a new reader; it allows
them experience life in ways they ve never before. In other words poetry really allows someone to
maintain an experience so someone else can later access it as their own: it s basically a way of sharing
once inner thoughts, experiences and memories with others. In this essay I will be comparing the
poetry of Li Young Lee. The two specific poems I will compare are The Gift and I ask my mother to

Lee uses vivid details of imagery to be able to project his strong emotions to his readers. For example,
in the poem The Gift , the narrator painted a clear image of the relationship between the father and the
son. As the narrator of The Gift removes a metal splinter from his wife s hand, the reader clearly
knows what going on. Also we see that he remembers when he was a seven year old boy and his father
also removed a splinter from his hands. Also we get a clear image of when the father told a story in a
low voice in order to distract him. We also get great imagery at the end of the poem kissing his father
when holding up the splinter. The narrators words help the reader imagine the picture of how both the
father and son felt. In the poem I ask my other to sing the poem is about the author had childhood
memories of what he had and how he misses the he had with his mother, grandmother and his father.
The author pays specific attention to the senses. By using the amazing imagery the reader is able to
smell the freshness of the rain, hear the sound of the rain on the waterlily leaves, hear the sound of the
picnickers chattering and running away in the grass , and also hear the voices of the grandmother and
mother singing. While the gift displayed a clear image of the relationship of a father and a son, the
poem I ask my mother to sing was more inclusive of the whole family and also more visual on the

Suffragette Movie Essay
I was given the opportunity to watch the movie Suffragette. The movie illustrated the struggle women
endured while pursuing the right to vote. Lives of actual women who participated during the
movement were illustrated in the film along with fictional characters. I used the full names of real life
characters, and just the first name of fictional characters in this essay.
In watching the plot unfold I could not help but notice the social structures and emotions fall in to
design. The characters covered realistically: nuclear families, role conflict, role distancing,
dramaturgical analysis, social groups, deviance, crime, social stratification, government power and
policy ending with altruistic suicide, and the impact of global village.
The opening sketch begins with a young woman named Maud who works in a laundry with her
husband Sonny, the milieu is early 19th century Great Britain. Maud has worked in the laundry
starting at a very young age. She has managed to work her way up to forewoman. Maud and Sonny

Next scene Maud becomes arrested, and Sonny warns her that he will not put up with much more of
her deviant behavior. Maud has a second run in with the police and Sonny ejects her from the house,
role distancing himself from her, and refusing her access to their only child. Sonny refuses to condone
the social deviance Maud is taking part in. Maud experiences role strain and she flips out, attacking
her employer when he makes yet another sexual advancement on her.
Conversely, Maud becomes a full fledged Suffragette and actually starts to partake in crime. She has
committed to her social group, and she is adopting their culture. She must now cultivate a new form of
emotional management, she must not let her sentiments control her, she must control them. . Maud has

integrity of the business. However, there are some weaknesses that as an employee, the Board of

Violations can be treated the same whether the employee violated the code, or if an employee is aware
of a violation and does not inform the company. Disciplinary action if defined as termination, without
notice or payment in lieu of such notice...may also result in civil and/or criminal proceedings being
initiated. (Code of Conduct, 2013, p. 5) Both violations, and the result of committing a violation, seem
vague in relation to the operations of the business and what instances result in a violation.
Clarification of disciplinary action such as probation, suspension, demotion, reduction in pay could be
examples depending upon the company policy that could be added to the Code of Conduct.
Additionally, justification should be added of how serious is a violation or, more importantly what are
the effects of a violation? Not only is a violation a personal consequence, but the consequences for the
company should also be included within the code such as the company s image to the community,
customers and other stakeholders. The Code of Conduct should ultimately relate back to the good of
the company as well as the risks that could include the business. Fraud, unethical or improper
behavior is strongly discouraged throughout the Code of Conduct, and very well should be. In fact, the
Code of Conduct lists nine items in which the any employee should not do. Most people do not
respond well to a list of what not to do.

Planning Issue Within The City Of Boston Essay
As part of our final report we are expected to select a planning issue within the City of Boston and
undertake an analysis of the issue from a planning perspective. An issue that the City of Boston is
dealing with that caught my attention was the lack of affordable housing available to its current and
future residents. As cities start to evolve and attract large amounts of people, they also face some
drawbacks that can affect where and how city residents can live. Our trip to Boston, Massachusetts
opened my eyes to the city s housing issue and its increasing housing and land values. An issue of this
nature often causes residents to be pushed out of the city, into the suburbs or can cause homelessness.
Low to moderate income families and youth across the City of Boston are struggling to pay rent and
make ends meet. After our meeting with the Boston Housing Authority, I wanted to further explore the
issue of housing affordability so I reached out to the City s Department of Neighborhood
Development for more information This paper will look into some topics such as when housing
became an issue in the city, if Boston s student population plays a role, if there any shortcomings in
terms of how the city plans for affordable housing, if there are any specific programs in place that deal
with affordable housing and if Boston is looking into what other cities may be doing. I think that in
order to fully understand the issue that this city is dealing with, you must first be informed

The Economic Status Of Young People
The youth is one of the most vulnerable groups in the labour market. The economic status of young
people has declined significantly over the past two decades, despite a variety of programs designed to
aid new workers in the transition from the classroom to the job market. Young people have a great
impact on economic growth and productivity. It also costs governments and society at large a lot of
money, both currently in terms of higher unemployment benefits and lost tax revenue and flow into
the future through long term reduced productivity and earnings. Last but not least, being young and
unemployed can lead to increase in the risk of poverty, deskilling and social exclusion as well as cause
loss of motivation and mental health problems. Fresh graduates lacking experience often find
themselves trapped in a vicious cycle. They often lack the experience needed to fill a job opening,
which prevents them from getting employed. Thus, the job searching period for them becomes
considerably longer than for experienced workers and harms their future work prospects (Vena
Nedeljkovic, 2014, para. 2).
So, there are two solutions that are the best in solving the issue: apprenticeship and entrepreneurship.
The first feasible solution is apprenticeship. It consists of a combination of on the job training,
contributions by apprentices to production, and classroom instruction, leading to a valued
occupational credential. They could be run either by private entities, the Department of

The Between The Thorey And The Practice Essay
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THOREY AND THE PRACTICE?
The article of THE RIGHT TO DIE STILL SEEMS MORE THEORY THAN PRACTICE takes a pro
side of the right to die. Due to the problems of protecting the patients from abuse (from ones who
might want the patient dead or prolonging life for ulterior motives), and that the decisions and views
of ethics are been made from professional who may or may not know the patient or the family well.
These decisions such as quality of life are being define and made by society. It seems as though that
the theory is the battle over the patients rights, and the practice is the battle to enforce them. This
battle is catapulted from the fear of liability (civil and criminal), from the institutes and the doctors.
These situations usually leave the patient powerless.
HOW HAS THE TECHNOLOGY AND CAPABILITIES OF MEDICINE AFFECTED THE
DEBATE?
Since the advancement of technology and capability of medicine, the debate has risen to a level of
which it can t be ignored. The fact of prolonging someone life has to be a factor since it is possibility
of prolonging it comfortably. Before there were advancement of technology and capability of
medicine most American died at home, with their love ones around and family doctors which would

the pain or to help asses in death.

Similarities Between Dadaism And Internet Art
Art, quite simply, is a social force. It reflects on the feelings of people in society, whether individually
or as a whole. Usually art that vents the feelings of the artist occur around times or events that evoke
emotions powerful enough to provide a muse for artwork. Some art styles, such as Dadaism and
Internet Art, can directly tie their absurdist means to what was happening in that time. But do the time
periods in which those art styles were popular relate to the meaning behind the art? The similarities
between Dadaism and Internet/Postinternet art show the state of disarray and lack of hope for the
future that millennials have revived.
Dadaism
Dadaism is an art style defined as a form of artistic anarchy born out of disgust for the social, political,
and cultural values of the time. (Artyfactory). Pieces made in this style went against almost all of the
previously written rules of art, which earned it the title of anti art . Dada was presented in many ways,
the most well known being collages made on paper [Fig 1]. Another popular presentation was
photography, which was a relatively new concept at the time. These photographs turned ordinary
things into art by showcasing the abstractness of ordinary things as seen through a lens. One of the
most well known examples of Dada photography is Fountaine by Marcel Duchamp [Fig. 2].
Technology was also a new concept that Dada creating artists used to their advantage. Film and radio
broadcasting were used as mediums, one

America s Dirty Little Secret of Narcotics
America s Dirty Little Secret Right now someone is being arrested for being in possession or under
the influence of an illegal narcotic. We are in a war right now, a war with 23.5 million Americans in
the crossfire. A battle is happening against America s public enemy number one , drug abuse,
proclaimed by President Richard Nixon in 1971. Fighting the war on drugs is charged to the police
officers around America who go out every day and work to curb the use of drugs in this country. One
big problem is the drug problem s direct relationship to crime. When people become addicted to drugs
they spend all the money and drain all the resources from their life s to fund their habit. There have
been many news stories about people killing their own family members to get money for drugs.
Money is the common denominator. Many drug dealers are either greedy or fund their own drug habit
through selling drugs. Since it s an illegal trade, people can set the prices as high or low as they want
to. The main problem is that it is a cheap and easy alternative to natural highs, like exercising or going
on a rollercoaster. Those things take time and energy to earn, whereas someone can go get enough
heroin to get high on the street for less than twenty dollars. When people become addicted to these
narcotics, their body becomes dependent on it, like a hunger if they go to long without it they
experience withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal from these drugs can be too much for some people,

is enterprising the persuaders . The people in this category enjoys influencing others and are often

Inhibitory Control
Inhibitory control has been defined as a structure that grants the suppression of actions that are
considered not appropriate (Bjorklund Harnishfeger, 1995). This structure is a weighty component in
completing how mental processes work together in the achievement of a task (Dowsett Livesey,
2000). Older research has suggested that the development of inhibitory control in homo sapiens was a
major factor in the evolution of intelligence (Stenhouse, 1974). Later research further supports this
claim by suggesting that Inhibitory control is important in intelligence (Kochanska, Murray, Jacques,
Koenig, Vandegeest, 1996). Research into inhibitory control has found that Inhibitory control is linked
to impairment in a substantial amount of neurological disorders (Peterson et al., 1998). Inhibitory

Further research on the A not B taskby Diamond (1991) supported the finding that young infants have
poor inhibitory control (Diamond, 1991). Strooping tasks with negative priming have been used to

be inhibited (Pritchard Neumann, 2009). There have also been other ways to measure inhibitory
control. Among populations where inhibitory control has been found to be impaired, fMRI scans have
been used to measure inhibitory control. For example, fMRI scans have been used to measure
inhibitory control among those with autism (Kana, Keller, Minshew Just, 2007; Agnostou, Sorrya,

1. Be able to understand assumptions about human nature and managerial behaviour.
1.1 Identify models which make suppositions about human nature and behaviour at work
Theory X and Theory Y represent two sets of assumptions about human nature and human behaviour
that are relevant to the practice of management. They describe two contrasting models of workforce
motivation. Theory X represents a negative view on of human nature that assumes individuals
generally dislike work, are irresponsible, and require close supervision to do their jobs. Theory Y

Thus, if employees are treated in a Theory X manner, they will become lazy. If they are treated in
accordance with Theory Y, they will be motivated and committed to the organisational objectives.
McGregor believed that Theory Y assumptions were more valid than Theory X. Therefore, he
proposed such ideas as participation in decision making, responsible and challenging jobs and good
group relations for maximising employee job motivation.
1.3 Evaluate a model of managerial style in which the manager can apply skills to identify, study and
review their pattern of behaviour
As I am responsible for managing a group of employees, then it is important for me to find an
effective management style so as to ensure maximum employee morale and productivity. There are
different ways to lead, and each style comes with its own pros and cons. Identifying which style of
management is most appropriate is a task that requires some deliberation. I am going to evaluate an
autocratic management style.

This leadership style is also called authoritarian and, as the name suggests, puts the majority of
power and control in the hands of the manager. In an autocratic style of management, the leader makes
all of the decisions without any consultation to the employees. This is useful in situations where you
know more than the team members about the project at hand and must delegate and oversee
employees job duties due to strict time restraints.

Ring Neck Snakes Research Paper
The Diadophis punctatus, or more commonly known as the ring neck snake, is a harmless nocturnal
snake that lives throughout the eastern and central part of North America. In Idaho, ring neck snakes
can be found at the west and south east part of the state.
Ring neck snakes live in various habitats. However, they prefer areas with damp soil and temperatures
between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius. Mostly, their habitats are grasslands, rocky hillsides, coniferous
forests, farmland, chaparrals, and mixed woodlands. Ring neck snakes also like hiding, so most of the
time they can be found beneath stones or barks from dead trees.
The ring neck snake has a yellow ring on its neck, and its backside s body color varies between gray,

Family Law Research Paper
Family law is an area of law that is very interesting to me. Many people are unaware of exactly what
family law is and what it deals with. Most believe that family law is marriage, divorce, child
custody, and murders between members of a family. Their thoughts are indeed correct, but
family law is so much more than that. Below I will discuss my reasons for choosing family law,
plaintiff/defendant,and the tasks of the paralegal.
Family law is an important body of law that defines relationships, rights, and duties in the formation,
ongoing existence, and dissolution of marriage and other family units. If I were to choose an area of
law to work in,it would definitely be family law. I feel that this is a job that will continue to grow and

Renewable Energy Essays
The most of global energy production produces from fossil fuel such as coal, oil and natural gas. The
vast fossil fuels generate energy which use for many purposes for instant residential, transportation
and industrial sectors. While the rate consumption of fossil fuel higher than their formation leads to oil
price crisis. Another concern of fossil fuel combustion is the impact on the environment. Global
warming is a significant problem which results in increasing concentrations of greenhouse gas in the
atmosphere. These problems drive researchers and societies to search alternative energy such as
switching to renewable energy or carbon free energy to replace fossil fuels. For example Nakata et al.,

Bilen et al., (2008:1531) predicted that global energy consumption will account for around 85% of the
increase in world primary demand over 2002 2030. The increasing of global energy demand happens
the global stock of fossil fuel resources may be adequate for short term period, thus requiring the
development of renewable energy sources, which would not decrease the stock of fossil fuel resources
available for future generation. There is an increasing interest in the development of renewable
energies such as biofuel and wind power, which have a great potential energy to produce enough
power for the world s population demand.
This essay focuses on two renewable energy resources. First of all, biofuel is now accepted as
alternative energy in worldwide. The figures continue upward trend in the biofuel production. An
annual growth rate of 6.8% from 2006 to 2030 is expected for total biofuels consumption in the
transport sector (International Energy Agency: 2008 cited in Zhou, et al., 2009:S11). Significant
leaders of the biofuel market are Brazil, the United States and the European Union. The results of
research indicated that 92% of the world s ethanol is produced by Brazil and US together, while 90%
of the world s biodiesel manufactured by the EU. In addition, several developing countries in Asia
such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines have an enormous potential for biofuel
production. Now these countries are

Deadly Silence in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Essay
The Deadly Silence in Trifles
While reading Susan Glaspell s play Trifles, the use of characters, descriptive language, and
symbolism teaches the audience that one person s home and one person s way of living can also be an
introduction to one person s private hell. Throughout the play, discoveries are made to teach the
audience that maybe things are not what they seem and that sometimes people must take a deeper look
into what is around them.
Mrs. Hale, Mrs. Peters, the county attorney, and the sheriff are the four main characters of the play
that introduce the audience to the crime that has just been committed. The sheriff and Mrs. Peters are

Her statement expresses to the audience that sometimes we need to take a deeper look at what is
around us and see if help is needed.
In the play, descriptive language teaches the audience more about the surroundings than what the
characters are actually saying to one another. I ve not been in this house it s more than a year (6), Mrs.
Hale tells the county attorney. It is a very run down house, and the audience discovers there are no
signs of anyone really ever being happy. The kitchen is dirty, and the women begin to feel uneasy
about being in a house where there is nothing but darkness and coldness. The darkness is to signify
how alone and empty Mrs. Wright was feeling while living with her husband. Mrs. Wright did not feel
wanted, and she felt like all hope was lost which the audience recognizes with the help of Mrs. Hale s
saying, ...he was a hard man, Mrs. Peters. Just to pass the time of day with him. Like a raw wind that
gets to the bone (11). Mrs. Hale conveys these important details to Mrs. Peters, which proves that the
environment in the Wright house was dark and dreary. The audience can imagine living in house
where there is nothing but solitude and misery. The solemn atmosphere makes the readers start to
understand how lonely and depressing living in the house actually was.
The coldness also helps convince to the audience that Mrs.

Death in The Dream of the Rood Essay
Death in The Dream of the Rood The crucifixion of Christ is treated differently within the bodies of
Old English and Middle English literature. The values of each era s society are superimposed on the
descriptions of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Christ is depicted either as the model of the hero,
prevalent in Old English literature, or as the embodiment of love and passion, as found in Showings
by Julian of Norwich.
Old English literature establishes the elements of the heroic code, to which its society ascribed. A man
must live, or die, by his honor. In The Dream of the Rood the crucifixion of Christ is depicted as the
ultimate symbol of heroism, as all mankind bewailed Christ s death and prepared a gilt cross ... Show

21) Julian of Norwich, an anchoress of Saint Julian, received great visions of the crucifixion of Christ,
on what was thought to be her deathbed. According to the Norton Anthology of English Literature,
Sixth Ed., her revelation of these visions, Showings, is colored by her experience and temperament as
an individual woman. Julian s depiction of the crucifixion describes Christ s love for humanity upon
his crucifixion. This I took it for that time that our Lord Jesu of his courteous love would show me the
comfort before the time of my temptation; for me thought it might well be that I should by the
sufferance of God and with his keeping be tempted of fiends before I should die. (Norton Anthology
of English Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 294) His choice to die upon the cross seems to be the necessity for
the salvation of mankind, not as the manifestation of His inimitable honor and glory.
The thanes of the heroic code are bound to their lord by honor. The Dream of the Rood affirms this
powerful obligation as the author writes that when God visits us on judgment day, He will ask who
would stand fast, unafraid, for Him, their real leader: Before his host he will ask where the man is who
in the name of the Lord would taste bitter death as he did on the cross. (Norton Anthology of English
Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 21). In addition, the lord is bound to his men. This ideal is continued within
the chivalry of the Middle Ages. As a passage of Showings tells the

Security Risks And Risk Management
EHEALTH SECURITY RISK MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Protecting the data related to health sector, business organizations, information technology, etc. is
highly essential as they are subject to various threats and hazards periodically. In order to provide
security, the information has to adapt to certain risk analysis and management techniques which has to
be done dynamically with the changes in environment. This paper briefly describes about analyzing
the security risks and risk management processes to be followed for electronic health records to ensure
privacy and security.
Overview of Security Risk Management:
The data present in the Electronic Health Records that are recorded, maintained or transmitted by the
third party devices and so, must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, privacy and security are like chronic diseases that require treatment, continuous monitoring
and evaluation, and periodic adjustment.
According to HIPAA, the required implementation specification for risk analysis requires a covered
entity to, conduct an accurate and thorough assessment of the potential risks and vulnerabilities to the
confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information held by the
covered entity.
The process of risk analysis consists of 9 steps:
Step 1. System Characterization:
Initially system characterization is required to accelerate the process of risk analysis. Through this
process, the information that is needed to be protected is identified. Some of the examples of
applications include Electronic health records, Laboratory information system, and pharmacy system.
The general support systems consist of computers, laptops, smartphones, email, etc. which are used in
the organization to support various applications. The risk analysis should stress upon systems that
have more effect on healthcare operations
Step 2. Threat Identification:
The next step is to identify threats. Threats can be of anything from earthquakes and tornadoes to
human errors, carelessness, hacking, hardware failure, power outage, etc. Identifying all the threats is
not necessary but it is important to identify the regular

Contract Negotiations
Contract Negotiations Contract Negotiations Negotiations are something that everyone experiences
and does at some level. Even if informal, people negotiate and barter using what they have to offer to
get what they want all of the time. However, there are times in life where the negotiations are much
more serious and the stakes a lot higher. Whether official or unofficial, there are negotiation tactics
and conditions that should be watched out for because they are a sign of potential problems. Bad Faith
Fraud This one sounds like an easy one to remember and watch out for but some negotiators of
contracts are not scrupulous or honest. As such, any wise person entering contract negotiations needs
to enter the fray prepared. Smart negotiators are always on the lookout for anything fishy. If it looks
too good to be true it quite possibly is and before affixing a name to a contract, it needs to be verified
as much as is reasonable or possible to ensure that what is being promised will be delivered. For
example, buying a car without a trusted mechanic inspecting the car for obvious signs of problems is
not smart and this is true of any other potential negotiation as well (Layng, 2009). Too Easy a
Concession In a lot of negotiations, it is generally expected that the two parties will stand in two
different camps in terms of price or other conditions and that both parties will meet somewhere in the
middle. This is not always the case but it is certainly a common

  • 2. The Strength Of Muscle Clench Within Dominant And Non... Using Electromyography to Detect the Strength of Muscle Clench in Dominant and Non Dominant Arm of an Individual The human body contains three kinds of muscle tissue: cardiac muscle, smooth muscle and skeletal muscle; each performs specific tasks to maintain homeostasis the tendency to maintain a stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, mainly that which is maintained by physiological processes. The primary function of muscle, regardless of kind, is to convert chemical energy to mechanical work, which in turn allows the muscle to shorten or contracts. The muscle tissues observed in this experiment is the skeletal muscle which are usually attached to the skeleton. As a result, contraction of the skeletal muscle moves one part of the body with respect to another. An increase in the strength of a muscle s contraction is necessary to perform a task. Subsequently, the brain increases the number of simultaneously active motor units within the muscle by a process known as the motor unit recruitment. Physical muscle movement in humans involves movement of fibers which are hundreds of cylindrically shaped cells bound together by connective tissue. It is essential for individuals, mainly professionals who work to promote health, to understand the mechanisms in the body. Resting skeletal muscles in vivo exhibit a phenomenon known as tonus, a constant state of slight tension that serves to maintain the muscle by motor centers in the brain and spinal cord. However, muscle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Voltage Instability, Voltage And Instability Abstract Voltage instability is one of the major power system problems which have appeared since the existence of the power systems. This paper investigates the performance of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) in voltage instability early prediction. Voltage instability early detection is necessary for avoiding voltage collapse which can lead to power system fast breakdown. In this research, the bus voltage phase is considered as the main factor of power system voltage instability early detection. Voltage instability leads to a considerable change in the difference between the consecutive buses voltage angles. A recurrent neural network trained with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is proposed in this paper. The proposed method is examined on 14 bus and 30 bus IEEE standard systems. These systems are simulated using MATLAB/Power System Toolbox program. The performance of the proposed method is compared with Back propagation (BP) training algorithm. Keywords Backpropagation algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization Technique, Recurrent Neural Network, Voltage Instability Predictor, Voltage Stability I. INTRODUCTION Voltage instability problems play a great role in power systems planning and operation. Nowadays, power systems are being performed closer to their steadiness limits due to economic and environmental constraints. Preserving a fixed and secure operation of the power system is hence a very vital and challenging issue. Therefore, it is highly suggested to take care of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Studies show that, since 1976, the residential population has doubled, with more than 240000 people living in the Area and the ownership share has increased by almost two times since 1996 (City of Toronto. 2014b). Accordingly, the City s housing market is dealing with more and more housing needs (CHBA, 2012; Landau, 2013). To overcome the limitations in land supply, a number of municipal and provincial policies and programs have been initialized to redirect growth, intensification to the existing built up sites in the Area. These policies promote transforming or conversion of brown field sites (formerly deteriorating industrial and commercial sites) as well as improvement of the un /under utilized lands and buildings, and at grade parking lots, for high/dense condominium developments (Pantalone, 2014). The City permits the conversion through re zoning or re designating of land from one use to the other, which also overcomes the density controls imposed on those lands. Halfway throughout the story, the sniper gets shot. The author uses sensory details to create an image that makes the reader envision the actual pain the character is battling against. A paroxysm of pain swept through him. He placed the cotton wadding over the wound and wrapped the dressing over it. He tied the ends with his teeth. An infected pregnant mother can also pass the disease to the unborn child during pregnancy. The disease is caused by a corkscrew shaped bacterium called a spirochete, Treponema pallidum. The bacteria cause sores or ulcers to appear on the skin of the penis, vagina, and mouth. In some occasions, the sore can appear in the rectum, on the tongue, lips, or breast. During sexual intercourse, the bacteria is transferred from the sore of the person and enters the moist membranes of the sexual partner s penis, vagina, mouth, or rectum. Once the bacteria enter the body, it multiplies at a fast rate. The bacteria enter the lymph circulation, which carries the bacteria to adjacent lymph glands, which swells as a response to the infection. During the first stages of the disease, which is called primary syphilis and lasts for a few weeks, sores and ulcers begin to develop, particularly in the genital area of the victim. Blood tests during this stage may not reveal the disease yet, but the bacteria can be scraped from the sores. Eventually, the sores will heal, and the victim may recover from the disease without any treatment. • 24. Planning Issue Within The City Of Boston Essay As part of our final report we are expected to select a planning issue within the City of Boston and undertake an analysis of the issue from a planning perspective. An issue that the City of Boston is dealing with that caught my attention was the lack of affordable housing available to its current and future residents. As cities start to evolve and attract large amounts of people, they also face some drawbacks that can affect where and how city residents can live. Our trip to Boston, Massachusetts opened my eyes to the city s housing issue and its increasing housing and land values. An issue of this nature often causes residents to be pushed out of the city, into the suburbs or can cause homelessness. Low to moderate income families and youth across the City of Boston are struggling to pay rent and make ends meet. After our meeting with the Boston Housing Authority, I wanted to further explore the issue of housing affordability so I reached out to the City s Department of Neighborhood Development for more information This paper will look into some topics such as when housing became an issue in the city, if Boston s student population plays a role, if there any shortcomings in terms of how the city plans for affordable housing, if there are any specific programs in place that deal with affordable housing and if Boston is looking into what other cities may be doing. I think that in order to fully understand the issue that this city is dealing with, you must first be informed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Economic Status Of Young People The youth is one of the most vulnerable groups in the labour market. The economic status of young people has declined significantly over the past two decades, despite a variety of programs designed to aid new workers in the transition from the classroom to the job market. Young people have a great impact on economic growth and productivity. It also costs governments and society at large a lot of money, both currently in terms of higher unemployment benefits and lost tax revenue and flow into the future through long term reduced productivity and earnings. Last but not least, being young and unemployed can lead to increase in the risk of poverty, deskilling and social exclusion as well as cause loss of motivation and mental health problems. Fresh graduates lacking experience often find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle. They often lack the experience needed to fill a job opening, which prevents them from getting employed. Thus, the job searching period for them becomes considerably longer than for experienced workers and harms their future work prospects (Vena Nedeljkovic, 2014, para. 2). So, there are two solutions that are the best in solving the issue: apprenticeship and entrepreneurship. The first feasible solution is apprenticeship. It consists of a combination of on the job training, contributions by apprentices to production, and classroom instruction, leading to a valued occupational credential. They could be run either by private entities, the Department of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are in a war right now, a war with 23.5 million Americans in the crossfire. A battle is happening against America s public enemy number one , drug abuse, proclaimed by President Richard Nixon in 1971. Fighting the war on drugs is charged to the police officers around America who go out every day and work to curb the use of drugs in this country. One big problem is the drug problem s direct relationship to crime. When people become addicted to drugs they spend all the money and drain all the resources from their life s to fund their habit. There have been many news stories about people killing their own family members to get money for drugs. Money is the common denominator. Many drug dealers are either greedy or fund their own drug habit through selling drugs. Since it s an illegal trade, people can set the prices as high or low as they want to. The main problem is that it is a cheap and easy alternative to natural highs, like exercising or going on a rollercoaster. Those things take time and energy to earn, whereas someone can go get enough heroin to get high on the street for less than twenty dollars. According to the Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Ed., her revelation of these visions, Showings, is colored by her experience and temperament as an individual woman. Julian s depiction of the crucifixion describes Christ s love for humanity upon his crucifixion. This I took it for that time that our Lord Jesu of his courteous love would show me the comfort before the time of my temptation; for me thought it might well be that I should by the sufferance of God and with his keeping be tempted of fiends before I should die. (Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 294) His choice to die upon the cross seems to be the necessity for the salvation of mankind, not as the manifestation of His inimitable honor and glory. The thanes of the heroic code are bound to their lord by honor. The Dream of the Rood affirms this powerful obligation as the author writes that when God visits us on judgment day, He will ask who would stand fast, unafraid, for Him, their real leader: Before his host he will ask where the man is who in the name of the Lord would taste bitter death as he did on the cross. (Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 21). In addition, the lord is bound to his men. This ideal is continued within the chivalry of the Middle Ages. According to HIPAA, the required implementation specification for risk analysis requires a covered entity to, conduct an accurate and thorough assessment of the potential risks and vulnerabilities to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information held by the covered entity. The process of risk analysis consists of 9 steps: Step 1. System Characterization: Initially system characterization is required to accelerate the process of risk analysis. Through this process, the information that is needed to be protected is identified. Some of the examples of applications include Electronic health records, Laboratory information system, and pharmacy system. The general support systems consist of computers, laptops, smartphones, email, etc. which are used in the organization to support various applications. The risk analysis should stress upon systems that have more effect on healthcare operations Step 2. Threat Identification: The next step is to identify threats. Even if informal, people negotiate and barter using what they have to offer to get what they want all of the time. However, there are times in life where the negotiations are much more serious and the stakes a lot higher. Whether official or unofficial, there are negotiation tactics and conditions that should be watched out for because they are a sign of potential problems. Bad Faith Fraud This one sounds like an easy one to remember and watch out for but some negotiators of contracts are not scrupulous or honest. As such, any wise person entering contract negotiations needs to enter the fray prepared. Smart negotiators are always on the lookout for anything fishy. If it looks too good to be true it quite possibly is and before affixing a name to a contract, it needs to be verified as much as is reasonable or possible to ensure that what is being promised will be delivered. For example, buying a car without a trusted mechanic inspecting the car for obvious signs of problems is not smart and this is true of any other potential negotiation as well (Layng, 2009). Too Easy a Concession In a lot of negotiations, it is generally expected that the two parties will stand in two different camps in terms of price or other conditions and that both parties will meet somewhere in the middle. This is not always the case but it is certainly a common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
