Environmental Ethics And Pollution
Pollution is a growing concern for some people, but for others it is of no importance. The way
humans treat the environment is such a controversial topic that people began to examine the topic
from a moral standpoint, so much so that three approaches were developed. The Anthropocentric
Approach, the Sentientist Approach, and the Biocentric Approach are the main theories people get
examine when debating about environmental ethics. People who have an anthropocentric view
believe that nature is there to satisfy humaninterests, harming the environmentis only bad if it also
harms humans. For example, cutting down a tree to build a house would be a positive thing
because it is valuable to humans. However, if cutting down the tree did not bring about a positive
outcome the action would be negative. William Baxter is one of the most vocal ethicist that
strongly believe in the anthropocentric approach. As stated before, William Baxter focuses on
human interests. He believes that the environmentis just a means, a stepping stone to satisfy
humans wants and needs. In addition, Baxter believes living in a clean environment is not as
achievable as others believe it to be because it is such a broad goal. Baxter argues that clear goals
are needed to address moral questions about the environment because the where, when, why, and
how are never fully covered when discussing the topic. There is never a clear and concise goal
when deliberating environmental issues. For example, if someone

Free Market Economy Vs Capitalism
Over the centuries, society has debated the most effective and economical methods to solving
poverty within politics and government. This debate has carried over into the Christian community
as well, with modern day Christians falling into two categories: those who are for free market
enterprise, capitalism, and those who agree with the redistribution of wealth, socialism/communism,
for fixing the problem of poverty. In looking at both sides of the argument, it can be determined
that there is a decidedly faith based approach to understanding the intersection of politics and
economics. One could even argue that the failure to view politics and economics through a
Christian perspective can have hazardous consequences. When mankind seeks to repair... Show

This side favors a more socialistic/communisticoutlook arguing for more government intervention
and a redistribution of wealth to the masses. Although on paper, socialism/communism looks ideal;
in reality the system is ineffectual. Samuel Gregg addresses this point in his critique of Democratic
presidential candidate Bernie Sanders remarking on Sanders lack of attention to other factors of
poverty such as ...family breakdown, single parent households, and mental illness. Addressing these
issues requires much more than just giving people more material things, and often has little to do
with economic inequality. They often require moral, even spiritual solutions. Those who subscribe
to the quixotic ideals of socialism disregard the rights of the individual to ownership. Communism
works much in the same manner attributing the source of evil to the institution of private

Paper On Uncomplicated Grief
Grief is an inner sense of loss, feeling of emptiness and sadness every human being experience at
some point of life and each person feels and handles it differently. But there are some common
stages of grief which starts from recognizing a loss to the final acceptance. It is not necessary that
grief should occur after the deathof a beloved one. Griefis the multifaceted response to death and
losses of all kinds, including emotional (affective), psychological (cognitive and behavioral),
social, and physical reactions (Stroebe, Hansson, Stroebe, Schut, 2001). Grief is a healthy
response to a loss, which should not be prevented. But grief lasting more than two months and is

For example some people may get angry first then acceptance and depression. It depends on each

caregiver s life too, especially during end stage care.it is necessary to identify the signs and
integrate these normal response to life Grief is not only about pain. Even in grief it can be
mixed with joy. In an uncomplicated grief process, painful experiences are intermingled with
positive feelings, such as relief, joy, peace, and happiness that emerge after the loss of an
important person (Zisook Shear 2009). Frequently, these positive feelings elicit negative
emotions of disloyalty and guilt in the bereaved. The writer considers healthy grief as a normal
response and it will help to ease the stress and people show it differently. But any signs of
prolonged grief should be taken care of seriously and get the support needed. Nurses grief resulting
from the death of a patient is different from the grief experienced by the family. It may be hard to
remain strong for the patient and family, while at the same time compartmentalizing the pain they

The Pros And Cons Of Hong Kong Schooling
Hong Kong schooling can be seen as an elitist or as a pyramidal school system. As formal
schooling begins, many (if not all) parents will make every effort to help their child gain
admission to prestigious primary schools such as La Salle. At Year 6, students strive for higher
banding allocation so as to be assigned to better secondary schools. In sixth form, students fight
for the best exam scores possible, as the students with the best exam scores are offered places of
first degree courses at the eight government funded institutions. Even then, intense competition has
occurred amongst this group of high achievers for admission to the more preferred institutions or
courses. For example, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Chinese University of Hong
Kong (CUHK) have been the most preferred among the eight for many years. This scenario is
exceptionally consistent with traditional chinese culture, as according to Gow et al., 199, only a

Tests and quizzes are given in every month. Additionally, students have to do a large amount of
homework every school day, along with the assignments during Christmas, Chinese New Year,
Easter, and Summer. The criteria of performance is also very high, and geared towards the more
able students. Many less able students who cannot survive the harsh curriculum eventually have
nervous breakdowns. However, students who survive the education system in Hong Kong and the
IB curricula have the mentality, motivation, and skills to succeed in any system around the world
(see Biggs Watkins, 1996). During the summer time, reports on the highest grading students of
public examinations consistently hit the headlines and landing pages of the meida in Hong Kong.
The idea that students should not be over achieving, or hold performance goals is plainly
unacceptable in the community (Cheng,

Analysis Of Lincoln Electric Company Of Cleveland Ohio Usa...
Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland Ohio USA`s organizational Culture is exceptional and has
earned it the acolade of being the best managed manufacturing company in the whole world. I will
explore and attempt to identify culture aspects of Lincoln Electric from several issues such as; the
continuing influence of founders of the company, the golden rule, the incentive management
plan, the performance appraisal system, how people communicate in the organization, the merit pay
plan, the bonus plan, and the management style.
Normally Founders instill the culture they want right from the beginning of their organizations.
That is exactly what John C Lincoln did when he established his company Lincoln Electric in 1895.
He stablished a culture of innovation and even left administrative burdens of the company to a
brother, James Lincoln, so he could focus on innovation. This streak has continued to date where
Lincoln is not afraid to experiment with new ideas .e.g. the cost saving feature of welding
electrodes for construction and equipment manufacturing. The electrode process at Lincoln remains
a secretive affair which won`t be divulged to outsiders.
According to the OCP framework on organizational culture innovative cultures are not fussy about
titles and flat in their structure that is they are less bureaucratic. This is the outlook at Lincoln
where even the President `s office in the plant is not even carpeted and the company has not had an
organizational chart for quite a

How My Personality Developed
According to Larsen and Buss (2005, p. 4), personality is defined as a set of psychological traits and
mechanisms within an individual that are organized and relatively enduring which that influence
the individual s interactions with, and adaptations to, the intrapsychic, physical, and social
environments . Then, the enhancement from the dynamic organization that leads to distinctive is
called personality development. Blanchard Fields and Cavanaugh (2011, p. 14) stated that
personality development is progressed by the continuous interaction of the biological,
psychological, sociocultural, and life cycle forces of development such as the environment,
character and temperament . Not only that, the correct way in going thru or settling down... Show

uses of anticancer drugs and radiation will give side effects to the patients but it was just
temporary. Somehow, I still couldn t accept the fact that I had to go thru all these. My mum and
sister did not have tumor in their breasts so I was supposed not being affected as well. Life is
unfair! In fact, what hurt me the most was that my boyfriend started to ignore me after I told
him. He turned off his phone so that I could not reach him and he did not even visit me and so as
my classmates. At first, I thought that they were just busy on their own stuffs and they would
come to visit me once they are free but they all were like suddenly disappeared from my life, I

that no one even cared about me. All the efforts and memories that I put in my school were
wasted. Suddenly, I had the thought of giving up. Maybe I should just end my life. There was
nothing left of me. I refused to take medicine and looked for reasons to skip treatments. Not only
that, I chased my mum out of my sight whenever she came to visit me. I scolded her and shouted

The California Osteoporosis Prevention And Education Act
Every year, about one third of everyone over the age of 65 falls, and do not report it to their
doctors. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in older people (Falls Among
Older Adults). Falls become more common as people age because their bones become more
brittle and their muscle mass decreases. In society today, the baby boomers are aging, which
means falls will continue to increase in frequency. When a person falls, it doesn t just affect the
victim; it affects everyone. In 2012, approximately $30 billion went towards medical costs that
were associated with falls (Falls Among Older Adults). To prevent more people being injured and
more money being spent, there has to be a change. In 2010, the California OsteoporosisPrevention
and Education Act was established. This acts intent is to spread public awareness of
osteoporosis, how it can be prevented, and to improve the way osteoporosis is treated. Half of
all older women and 15 percent of older men will suffer a fracture related to osteoporosis (Stone).
Not only would it spread awareness of the disease with the older generation, but also with
physicians and other medical personal to educate them on how it can be treated. Along with the
California Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Act, there is Welfare and Institutions Code
Section 9450 9454. Theses sections focus on people and the idea of aging in place , and how
adjustments to the home can make it safer for people. Section 9451 s intent is

La Isla De Cozumel Research Paper
La Isla de Cozumel lies 12 miles off the coast of playa del carmen on the east coast of Mexico.
The small island is only 30 miles long, but is home to some of the most beautiful flora, fauna,
scenic landscapes, and beaches on the planet. Cozumel is a favorite tourist destination, but more
specifically a favorite within the SCUBA divingcommunity. Cozumelis famed for its vibrant reefs
and long stretching drift dives. Drift diving consists of divers entering the water at one location and
being pulled by underwater currents many miles from their original location. Apart from the allure
of the beauty of the island, the island holds a special significance to me.

Massive reefs, the size of greyhound buses, are innumerous surrounding the island. Ocean
currents pulled us as we dove, giving us a scenic tour of the underwater landscapes. But it s not
solely the awesome view of Cozumel that holds a significance to me, It s the experiences i ve
had on the island. Since diving in Cozumel is something both my father and I really enjoy,
during winter break last year, we decided to spend an entire week in Cozumel doing the Ultimate
Diver Experience as branded by the travel company. That trip did not disappoint. My dad and I
really bonded there and I think that s definitely a reason for my attachment to Cozumel. We dove
twice a day, every day, and it was spectacular. Though my dad and I have always been close, it
was different for me to see him in a relaxed state, as he s usually busy doing 1000 things at once
back at home. Through that trip we really got closer and got to share such an amazing
experience together. The trip we took wasn t just to get away from the world for a while, it was
also to celebrate my 18th birthday, and that night of my actual birthday was one that I ll always
remember. We decided to take a taxi into town away from the quiet of the resort we were staying
at. Not with any specific location in mind, we shuffled around the city looking for a good place
to spend the evening. We settled on a small bar that all the locals recommended and propped up
our feet to watch the game, the Cowboys were playing! We ordered what i m convinced were the
best chicken nachos on the planet earth, may or may not have downed the traditional 18th
birthday tequila shot, and watched the Cowboys take home the win. But from there the night
was not over! My dad had planned something really special. We packed up and headed back to the
resort where my dad had signed us both up to do a night dive. I ve always wanted to do one and it

Importance of Human Resource Department
The importance of the Human Resource Department by Ng Hui Chen, GSM
Employee is one of the most important assets of a company as they have significant influential
power to the success of a company. Therefore, effective and efficient human resource management
is crucial to every organization. However, the emergence of the centralized Human Resource
Department (HRD) has created conflicts on whether the responsibility of human resource
management should lie on line managers or HRD. The debate about the roles of line managers and
centralized HRD in human resource management has been ongoing since couple of years ago
(Hutchinson and Purcell, 2003). In my opinion, HRD remains as one of the important role within
an organization despite the need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
HRD can step in to investigate and change the line manager s decision.
According to Amit Bhagaria, 2010, some unscrupulous companies will run roughshod over the
rights of their employees. With HRD to review and evaluate the HR policies all the times, they
will ensure the rights of the employees are always secured. HR personnel are also the staff of the
companies. Certainly, they wouldn t allow the company to run roughshod over their rights as well!
In this way, they have helped to improve the general staff s well being. When the staff feels
positive about the company, they will improve productivity and are also more likely to stay with
the company longer.
HRD can serve as the channel of assistance or complaints to staff. Some of the human resource
issues need to be tackled by third party like HRD other than the line manager. For example, a staff
might decide to leave the company when the line manager declines his/her request of transfer. Staff
might be retained in the company with the assistance of HRD. Apart from that, staff can also file
their complaints to HRD when there are unfair treatments by line managers. Besides, HRD can
assist to conduct the exit interview for staff that are leaving the company. Staffs tend to more
reserve in the exit interview conducted by line manager if the reason of resignation is due to that
line manager. Hence, the outcome of the

Zoot Suit Riots Essay
Based on the infamous 1942 Sleepy Lagoon murder mystery and the resulting Zoot Suit Riots in
Los Angeles , playwright Luis Valdez weaves fact and fiction to depict the fate of 22 young
Mexican Americans brought to trial for a murder they did not commit.
Zoot Suit brings together unforgettable characters such as the irreverent El Pachuco and the
charismatic Henry Reyna, an unsuspecting gang leader who finds himself caught in the middle of
the racially turbulent events that rocked Los Angeles during the early 1940s.
Valdez says this production exemplifies the evolution of American society.

Valdez never got to perform in his school play because the week before the play, his family, who
were farm workers, were evicted from their home and had to move.
They play went on without me, he says. I never got to act and I was very disappointed. That event
created this hole in me; and I think from then on I ve been trying to fill it through my work.
Valdez s experience in a farm worker family provided much encouragement and drive when he
founded El Teatro Campesino. In 1965, Valdez left the San Francisco Mime Troupeto join Cesar
Chavez in organizing farmworkers in Delano, Calif. Valdez organized the workers into El Teatro

Insurable Interest Essay
What is Insurable Interest in a Maritime Insurance Policy
The term insurable interest refers to the benefit (or interest) a person has in an insured object (or
person as in a life insurance insurable interest). This benefit can refer to a financial benefit, among
others. A person has insurable interest in a thing when he or she would experience some kind of
loss (financial or otherwise) if the thing were to be damaged or lost.
Say that you have piece of jewelry in your home that is also a family heirloom. If someone were
to steal it (or if you were to drop it down the sink, or in the toilet, or even lose it in the garbage)
you would suffer different kinds of loss, both financial and emotional. Thus, you have an insurable
interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no requirement of insurable interest when the contract is made. This section also allows
the subject matter of a marine policy to be insured lost or not lost . This means that it is possible
for the insured to recover under a marine policy even if he acquired his interest after the loss has
occurred, unless he was aware of the loss and the insurer was not. These rules reflect the practices
of marine trade where cargo frequently changes ownership in the course of transit. In this case there
is a transfer of rights i.e assignment of interest.
Assignment of Interest may be done by endorsement in blank that is to sign the policy.
Alternatively, this can be also done by signing in favor of one other person. In turn, only that person
can then claim to be the rightful owner. The law permits this unless the policy states otherwise.
However, hull policies prohibit assignment even though the marine act promotes this transfer of
rights.
An interesting fact is that companies can have insurable interest in their workers, both in higher ups
and in those lower down the ladder. There has been some controversy about this recently, where
companies took life insurance policies out on their employees without their employees consent. In
these instances, the companies collected the policies on their deceased employees, who sometimes
did not even work for them anymore.
Of course companies have

Nestorius Research Paper
Stupidity likes to take a shower in the morning. A wave loudly crashing against a shoreline slips
on a banana peel. Pinocchio is omni present, much like candy. Tomorrow is like a painted flower,
it never wilts. These sentences are ridiculous, right? The way you are feeling right now after
listening to them is the exact same way the council felt about Nestorius teachings. The council
went even farther than nonsensicality and called him a heretic. But, more on that later.
Nestorius was born in Syria in 386 AD, and was a priest and monk in the monastery of
Euprepius. Theodore of Mopsuetia taught him in clerical training in Antioch. His sermons were
so phenomenal that Emperor Theodosius II inaugurated him as Patriarch of Constantinople in
428 AD. Shortly after, Nestorius became involved in two theological factions debating in their
Christology. One side said the Jesus was born as a man, and they called Mary Theotokos,
meaning God bearer. The other side argued that this title of Mary was incorrect because God
could not be born on account of his eternal nature. Nestorius tried to find a middle ground. He
decided to call Mary Christokos, meaning Christ bearer. He did this so it would not seem like God

did not turn into flesh. He says Jesus became one with the flesh in a Hypostatic Union. Cyril
proposed twelve anathemas that were accepted by the church. They basically said if anyone does
or does not do something, they will be anathema. In other words, they will be condemned and
basically sent to hell. Nestorius declined the summons of Cyril and was therefore deprived of his

Applications And Challenges Of The Rfid System On Roads
Applications and Challenges of the RFID System on Roads
Summary
RFID labeling is an ID framework that uses radio frequency identification devices for ID and
following purposes. A RFID labeling framework incorporates the label itself, a read/compose
gadget, and a host framework application for information accumulation, handling, and transmission.
A RFID label (once in a while called a RFID transponder) comprises of a chip, some memory and a
radio wire.
RFID labels that contain their own energy source are known as dynamic labels. Those without a
force source are known as detached labels. A latent tag is quickly initiated by the radio frequency

Evaluation Of A Clinical Supervision Project
After completing my clinical supervision project, I can reflect on multiple things I have learned
about myself as a supervisor, including my approach to clinical supervision, my conference skills,
and my strengths and weaknesses. I now recognize more than ever that effective supervisors must
consistently self assess their practice and make adjustments as necessary for continuous
improvement, just as effective teachers do.
Throughout the clinical supervision process, it became apparent that I have strengths and
weaknesses that relate to each step of the process. My most notable strengths were related to my
conference skills. For example, I am comfortable working with people, and believe I make
others feel comfortable working with me. I listen well, and genuinely want to help teachers to
improve, which I believe comes across in my communication with teachers. Working with
teachers collaboratively seems to yield effective results, and I was able to develop strong ideas
for each teacher, both in terms of goals for their observations, and their action plans moving
forward after their post conferences. During the observation portion of the project, I believe I
showed some strength in collecting data about each teacher and their classes. I was able to collect a
large amount of data in only one class. In theory, I believe supervisors have the responsibility of
getting to know each teacher individually, including their unique teaching styles and individual
areas in need of

Forms Of Limited Government
There are many types of modern and historic governments. The form of government a nation has is
influenced by their past government and the specific circumstances in the country. There are many
variations of essentially similar forms of government. All forms of government can be simplified
into a classification as either limited or unlimited. Limited governmentis regulated by a constitution
and a functioning legal system. This places restrictions on the nation s leaders and limits their
power. One of the characteristics of a limited government is that the leaders are chosen in free and
fair elections. Because of the restrictions on a limited government, the citizens in these countries
tend to have more rights and liberties. Unlimited government happens when a single person, or a
small group controls power. Unlimited governments retain power by controlling virtually every
aspect of the country. Their rule is often by force with little say by citizens. If elections occur, they
are controlled, not fair, and the outcome may be predetermined. Unlimited governments do not
abide by constitutions, if they exist, or leaders change them to suit their needs. A survey of
governments shows that most unlimited governments come to an end because of civil unrest. This
can be seen in the historical government of East Germany, also known as the German Democratic
Republic. The use of the word democratic in this countries name is something of a farce. In reality,
the country operated under a communist model, similar to the Soviet Union. This was an unlimited
government, which did not have free elections and the leaders having consolidated control of
everything. The government essentially planned the economy, which lead to food shortages. Even
basic necessities were rationed to the extreme. Despite these shortcomings, East Germany had the
strongest economy of all communist countries. Their output was centered on industrial production
of a variety of goods. Like other communist countries, since the government owned most of the
capital, it controlled the wealth created. The citizens existed just above sustenance. The strong
military played a vital role in defining and keeping the government in

Corporate Deviance And Corporate Social Responsibility
Generally, organizations are concerned with giving back to the society in order to appreciate the
contributions of the host community to their growth, sustainability and survival according to Oko
Agbonifoh (2014). Using this as the basis of their operations, corporate alertness is increasingly
being given to corporate social responsibilityphilosophies. Most business organization thus work
on the idea of maximizing the positive effects of their operation on the society as the negative
impacts of these operation are minimized Farrell and Fraedrich (1997). This is the thrust of
corporate social responsibility as considered an obligation among businesses in the advanced
societies of the globe.
Oko Agbonifoh (2014) further posited that businesses come to play for the purpose of meeting
the desire of shareholders. Thus, Friedman (1970) argues that the major social responsibility of
business is to use its resource to engage in activities designed to maximize its profits so far it stays
within the ambit of the game, without deceit or fraud. Unfortunately, most laws formed due to
public outcries have poised danger to profit maximization, thus the wellness of shareholders. Most
of these sayings relate to the obligations business organizations have to those whose physical
energy and activities can have effect on the achievement of corporate aims as stakeholders as well
as members of the public in respect to the conservation of ecological environment and the public
safety. Hence,

How The Sand Felt So Warm Against My Skin Essay
The sand felt so warm against my skin, as Robert and I basked in the sunlight. This was our
ritual every Sunday afternoon. We both loved the beach, and this was a moment for us to relax,

I m not dealing with contracts or legal documents, we like to find time for one another. He and I

weird that we met, now that I think about it,... but we just clicked. Robert s smile still melts my

schedules, which is harder than it sounds. When the sun began to set, Robert looked over at me

to make it to the beach cooked dinner that night. Robert usually won, which is a good thing, since

What Was The Impact Of Women In The Civil War
Civil War was a harsh time for many peoples families and all the people fighting. The war started
April 12, 1861 to April 13, 1865, it lasted four years and a day, which in that time period many
soldiers were wounded and killed in battle. Within the time period of four years and one day
about 620,000 soldiers died in this war which means it was a horrific fight within the time it was
going on. The Civil Warhad a big impact on america and the people in it, especially women.
Women in the Civil War played a big part in it. Many women dressed like men to fight in the war
to show not all women are weak. No soldiers in the fight knew women were upon them until after
they were wounded or killed. Most of the time women joined the fight to be with... Show more

While the war was going on, they went through cities and countries and petrified a lot of people.
Families almost died and people tried to run and left everything behind. Many people wanted to
help fight but ran to protect their children from dying within the war, although the reason they
want to stay was because of the adrenaline they had rushing through their systems at the time
making them want to fight. Everyone had a moment were their flight or fight instinct kicked in,
most people choose flight, but some out of the group stayed to fight, but at the risk of getting
killed and their children possibly dying as well just to protect their home. Most people
wondered if the war was ever gonna end, at times people thought about giving up the war just to
see their families again, but through all the pain and misery the Civil War brought everyone kept
battling on to win and to free slaves no matter the risks they had to take. Though many women
helped by doing laundry, and dishes for the food, and cooked for soldiers, women played a bigger
role in the Civil War more than people realize. Women put their lives on the line just to help the
wounded or get information from enemy operations, if it wasn t for the women who proved
themselves to everyone, showing everyone that man aren t the only strong people around. Who s to

The Women s Liberation Movement Essay
In the attempt to gain equality for women across gender barriers in all aspects of society, the
battle that women have had to endure throughout history has been anything but peaceful.
Particularly in the United States, the women s liberation movement is an example of how
women in the U.S. took a stance to protest for their civil and reproductive rights, domestic
violence issues, women s suffrage, and sexual harassment and gender based violence that is
inflicted upon women on a daily basis. This movement was full of women passionate for gender
based equality in the U.S, however this feminist movement was not as easy to join if you were a
black woman. A reason for this hardship was because of the racial conflict and tension that is
experienced by African Americanpeople living in the United States that is dated back to the
inhumane implantation of slavery. Racismin America is the result of the white social construction of
identity and the perpetrated norm of the otherness. The marginalization of disclosing black women
from the U.S. women s liberation movement demonstrates an explicit example of how the attempt
to protest for gender equality was overshadowed by a racialized closed door way of thinking.
Therefore, this essay will closely examine the feminist liberation movement in the United States and
explain the hardships and racial struggles that black women had to endure in their attempt to join
this movement. It will look from a different angle towards this women s

Reflection Paper On Volunteering
Reflection Paper
I volunteered at the United Boys and Girls of Saint Barbara County (UBGSB). This is a non
profit youth development agency that deals with children ranging as from five to eighteen years of
age in the county of Saint Barbara County. The organization s mission aims to encourage the
young population to be productive in their endeavors as well as being responsible for everything
they are doing. Areas of concerns are focusing on the academic performance, role models, and
adopting healthy behaviors in the population. I choose this organization because being a psychology
student, it will enable me to work with children and therefore improve my knowledge in

I also noticed that every child in the program was treated in a unique way. According to Raskin,
(1996), it s stated that each person has a unique problem and should be treated in a unique
manner. Each person will be able to define their problem and it s the responsibility of the helper
to come up with a unique way to address the problem (Raskin, 1996). In the organization, children
had issues ranging from poor grades at school, lack of taking part in physical activities and
irresponsible behavior in general. It s, therefore, the responsibility of the organization to offer
assistance at an individual level.
I also learned that when dealing with children it s important to empathize due to the problems and

Fallacies Of The New York Times Website
It would be difficult to find any two individuals on the planet who are able to agree on everything.
Because of this, there are many different issues in which any two people are going to fail to see
eye to eye on. Differing viewpoints lead to arguments that are created by people in order to argue
their points. While some arguments that are created are based in fact, some arguments are based
upon false assumptions and trickery, with these unsound arguments being known as fallacies. A
study of fallacies reveal the true nature of false arguments, and better equips an individual to
identify invalid arguments.
Argument with Fallacies The Ebola virus is in danger of spreading rapidly in the United States. A
report on the New York Times website, written by Kevin Sack, has revealed the fact that Ebola
has spread from person to person at a Texas hospital. In order to protect the citizens of the United
States, a prompt and quick lock down of the entire state of Texas in needed and necessary in order
to protect the United States. Since Ebola has officially been confirmed to have spread from one
person to another in Texas, it can be assumed that the conditions exist in Texas that allow the spread
of the virus to occur. There must be something particular to Texas that allows the virus to gain
strength, and jump from person to person. It can only be assumed that the unique environment in
Texas is one where Ebola has the ability to survive and thrive. If it is not the environment in

The Christian Of Harry Potter Essay
The Christian themes in Harry Potter have been undermined by Christian fundamentalists beliefs
that the Potter stories are a gateway into satanic culture. While these stories are loved by so many,
there is a section of the population that condemns them as a satanic welcoming. To fully understand
the condemnation of Harry Potterand the push to eradicate this condemnation we will address
several lenses of the argument; to start there will be a quick history of the condemnation, and an
overview of that specific audiences perspective on the novels. Next to be presented will be an
overview of the Christian allegories found in the Potter novels, and finally, the argument put
forward by some Christians, Christians wishing to reclaim the Harry Potter novels as a quote
on quote Christian themed series. J.K. Rowling s first Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the
Philosopher s Stone, was first published in the UK in 1997, and was published in the US in
1998; the movie was then distributed by Warner Bros. in 2001. Even before it s theatrical
release many educators found themselves at odds with the novel due to it s magical nature. In
March of 2000 Carol Rookwood, the head of a Catholic primary school, banned the novel. Her
reasoning, The Bible is very clear and consistent in its teachings that wizards, devils and demons
exist and are very real, powerful and dangerous, and God s people are told to have nothing to do

History of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Air Force
Although the 82nd Airborne was organized in 1917 during America s involvement in the First
World War it was during the Second World War that the unit gained its reputation. Its distinctive
name was garnered from the fact that members of the division originated from communities
throughout the entire country so the term All American was utilized and explains the presence of
the distinctive AA on the division s shoulder patch. The division saw limited involvement during
the First World War as it saw service in only three battles but one of the most famous characters
emerging from the War, Sergeant York, was a member of the 82nd Airborne. Sergeant York was
honored with the Medal of Honor for his efforts in single handily killing a number of Germans and
capturing over a hundred of other German soldiers during the Meuse Argonne offensive (Pushies).
Following the end of the First World War, the division, consistent with the nation s intent to
withdraw from international affairs, was disbanded but as the United Statesbegan to prepare for
entry into the Second World War the unit was reactivated. This time, however, the activities of the
division were altered from being a routine infantry unit into the country s first army division
dedicated to airborne activities and its name was changed from being the 82nd Division to its
present designation as the 82nd Airborne. As an airborne unit, the 82nd was at the forefront in
battles in Sicily, Salerno, Normandy and Holland where its

Essay On Toronto
The story of Toronto in recent decades is often framed by the rapid economy growth. And Toronto
has been named to many best of lists for living quality, safety, and creativity. But this economic
boom and wealth have not been evenly distributed across all regions of the city. While Toronto is
normally considered as a safer city, significant crime does seriously occur in many neighborhoods. I
visited the Markham and Lawrence neighborhood in Scarborough, to investigate the aging physical
urban changes in inner suburban neighborhoods. and the role of social control that aging
infrastructure and housing are playing in ties with concentrated poverty and urban crime. Toronto s
inner suburbs were composed and constructed during the post war... Show more content on

This neighborhood has seen a severe declination and deterioration in living quality which results in
the loss of the middle class. Many scholars have suggested that factors such as the change in the
modern thinking of living, population flow, and government policies can lead to this declination
and deterioration of the Markham and Lawrence neighborhood. The flight of middle class has left
this neighborhood with social disadvantage and marginalized population such as recent immigrants,
single parent families, and racialized people who were unable to receive affordable
accommodations elsewhere. In fact, people fail to improve their living quality due to the social
segregation of poverty. In addition, it draws evidence on the issue of urban inequality in public
housing, poverty concentration, and gentrification. Theoretically, the perception of urban inequality
is not only about the low economic status, working class displacement and ethnic heterogeneity, but
rather the quality of street spectacles, housing, and residential stability that lead to the current
condition of higher crime rate. Toronto has become increasingly polarized. Referring to Hulchanski
s analysis on the Toronto s three cities, the Markham and Lawrence neighborhood locates in the
City#3 zone. Hulchanski has indicated the current demographic and social trend that Toronto is
dividing into three cities internally due to the Social Spatial Polarization and the shrinking of the

Bobby came of age. Throughout the book we start to learn more about him as an individual and
his back story. Bobby started out immature, and a little angered. Him and Nia conceded which
gave them the struggle of to adopt or not to adopt. Over time we learn Nia in present day is not
in the picture, and in the past is with check ups, and birth. Bobby had to mature for Feather,
which is why he came of age. He started to choose Feather over his childhood, causing him to

Why Was A Regime Was Or Was Not Democratic During The Time...
Whether a regime was or was not democratic during the time that World War I, World War II, and
the Cold War took place has no influence on being the exact cause of the war, because the
determining factors of why the previously listed wars occurred lies among the many constraints;
protecting alliances, attempts at deterrence, balancing power, acting on misinterpretation, rise in
aggression, and difference of beliefs and ideologies in relation to those of people from other
countries. It just so happens that the Countries that are not democratic are in a position where
they have to deal with appealing to their allies in order to not be alone at war. When approaching
World War I, through the use of textual evidence from Why Nations Go to War by John G.
Stoessinger and information from Professor Roeder s lecture course the reason for why the rise
in aggression, protection of alliances, and acting on misinterpretation are the causes of this war
and can be easily merged into one flowing argument by using the concept of what the Blank
Check is and how it s application in World War I resulted with Germany turning a small event
into a global war. Moving into World War II, lecture will be the road map to providing the
necessary factual information, being relative to what Hypernationalism is and its influence on Nazi
Germany aggression, the difference of beliefs and ideologies in relation to people from other
countries, what is to be accomplished with Nazi Germany acting out in

Naturalism As A Literary Genre
Anyone who has read American literature will know of the significance of naturalism as a literary
genre in American literature. Merriam Webster s definition of Naturalism is as follows: A theory
that art or literature should conform exactly to nature or depict every appearance of the subject that
comes to the artist s attention, specifically a theory in literature emphasizing the role of heredity
and environment upon human life and character development. Naturalismwent from being a
movement in the 19th and 20th century to the literary genre it is today. Even though some consider
naturalism to be stereotypical and one dimensional, naturalism remains an important literary genre
in American literature today because of it s ability to turn from a literary movement to a literary
genre and it s popular novelists and major characteristics remain front and center in American
literature today. Emile Zola created the term naturalism. Zola was a French novelist who sought a
new and modern way of convincing his readers of his fiction(Zhang 196). According to Xiaofen
Zhang, naturalism is believed to be a new and harsher realism (195). Naturalism became prominent
in the late nineteenth century in America. However, the Naturalistic movement had been going on
for some time in Europe. The movement of naturalism is heavily influenced by Charles Darwin s
theory of evolution (Literary Devices). Naturalistic writers had the belief that one s heredity and

Positive And Negative Consequences Of Repealing The Jones Act
Cost Analysis:
I firmly believe, repealing the jones act would certainly make American economy prosperous. In
this section I will bolster my opinion by analyzing some positive and negative consequences of
repealing the act in terms of cost, economic impact, and national safety.
Positive Consequences of repealing Jones act:
Repealing the Jones Act could benefit the American economy, as it is cheaper to build ships outside
USA and hiring foreign crew
Building ships in America is certainly costly affair. It could cost five times more than the shipbuilt
outside USA due high labor rates. Thus, repealing the jones act, means American companies can
lookout for cheaper options and buy vessels made in foreign countries at cheaper rates.
Wages for foreign crews are substantially lower than American crews. American crews cost nearly
4.5 times more than foreign crews. These wages make up nearly 75 percent of the operating cost
difference between the two. If foreign shippers were permitted to enter the U.S. market, American
companies would be forced to compete, and lower both their wages and prices to more reasonable
levels.
Cost of living would be significantly cheaper in states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico
Currently people from states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico have to spend a lot of money to
get goods due to higher freight transportation rates imposed by the Jones act. For example, it costs
about $750 to ship a 45 foot container from Los Angeles to Shanghai, but it costs $8,500 to ship the
same container from Los Angeles to Honolulu. This means that it costs 11 times more money to
ship something to some domestic locations than international ones. Thus, repealing jones act, the
cost of living in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico would decrease greatly as residents would not have to
spend as much money to get goods, from mainland America or from a foreign nation.
Economic boost for American Industries
Relaxing the Jones Act would lead to an economic boost for many industries across the nation, and
provide more goods at lower prices for American consumers. However, many Americans re simply
unaware of the impact that the extra shipping costs of the Jones Act has on their lives, and therefore
efforts to

American Civil Liberties are NOT Violated by the Patriot Act
As we face the threat of terrorism, how do we protect ourselves without hurting our freedoms?
Today, terrorism is a major threat to our homeland security and has become increasingly more
prevalent and difficult to monitor with the public s accessibility to communication and information
through today s technology. Terrorists are now able to communicate more freely with recent
technological advances. In an effort to combat this new threat, the government passed the Patriot

government, and we can t afford to have people lose their lives because part of the information is
in one department and part is in another department and they are not talking to each other (Frank,
2002, p. 1505).
The Patriot Act expands the pen register statute to include electronic communications and Internet
usage, which was previously limited to tracing of telephone numbers called by suspect criminals
(Olsen, 2001). In addition, this act allows the government to obtain warrants to examine what
people read in libraries and bookstores from records on what a person checks out or buys.
Moreover, the law allows the government to detain or deport suspects of terrorism as well as
monitor financial transcripts and electronic records. Recently, the federal court ruled to expand the
use of wiretaps and other surveillance techniques in tracking suspected terrorists under the Patriot
Act. The main part of the ruling is removing previously existing legal barriers between the FBI and
the Justice Department investigators, prosecutors and law enforcement personnel (Fox, November
2002).
Those opposed to the Patriot Act claim that it takes away our civil liberties and basic rights
afforded under the Constitution. Many argue that the bill was rushed through Congress and never
gave members time to go over it or interpret it (Demmer, 2002). According to one representative
who voted against the bill, the bill was never available to him to read before the

How Does Milgram Study Unethical
Milgram on Ethics A Study on Where Milgram Crossed the Line Kyle Froerer Weber State
University Upon researching Milgram s study more in depth and weighing the opinions of those
who feel it is an ethical study versus those in opposition I add my opinion to those who feel the
experiment was an unethical practice. This paper will explain more of why I feel this way. I will
also provide four peer reviewed sources supporting my argument. The first reason I find it to be
unethical is because of the ways in which subjects were lured into participating in the study. Certain
people could say they volunteered but that would require they not be compensated for their efforts
in any way. Each participant was financially compensated with $4.50 which is the equivalent of
about $25.00 to today s currency (Dollar Times, 2008). Because none of the participants were truly
volunteers their actions and subsequent test results must not be considered ethically accurate when
comparing them to society in general. Continuing on, the setting in which the participants were
observed was a foreign setting all with employing behaviors unique to that of a scientist (Baurimd,
1964). Now, coupling the foreign setting, strange behaviors and the fact they have been paid with
the principle of participant obedience, it can be assumed that all these attributes mixed together
would result in an overly obedient test subject. To accurately study the baseline for the principle of
obedience in

Changes In America s Social Environment
During the era from the end of Reconstruction through 1900, the development of American cities
radically altered the nation s social environment and problems. A vast majority of Americans
relocated from rural areas to the city in pursuit of new economic opportunity and the promise of
a more exciting life. The rapid development of an urban society transformed America. How
people lived, what and how they ate, and how they took care of their health all changed. In spite
of the period s adherence to the beliefs of Social Darwinism, increasing numbers of Americans in
fields that varied from religion and economics to politics, literature, and the law proposed the need
for reforms.

Reformers successfully elected numerous people to congress who supported their views and even

By 1920, more Americans lived in cities than rural areas and almost half of the population were

On the German side Hitler has ordered the building of a massive Atlantic Wall to stop any Allied
attackers from landing on the western seaboard, from the Kirkenes to the Pyrenees. After defeat in
Africa, Field Marshall Erwin Rommel is sent to inspect and oversee the wall s completion. After
seeing the horrible state of the wall Rommel worked to complete the wall as quickly as possible.
He had the German and French coast of the English Channel and their beaches filled with mines.
Rommel then placed heavy fortifications behind the beaches to stop any attackers who made it

The Legal Model Of Judicial Decision Making That The...
In the courts of the United States there are three different models of judicial decision making that
the Supreme Court uses. Included are the legal model, in which the decisions are based solely on
the provided facts on the case. (Mitchel) It can also choose to let previous case hearings and
decisions influence the decision for the case at hand. An example would be Reno v. ACLU where
the court ruled that the anti obscenity law was to broadly written that it violated the first
amendment right. (Mitchel) Another methodology used is the attitudinal model, where the justices
can make any decision they wish without fear of losing their job due to their life term in the
position. (Mitchel) A way of viewing this would be imagining a bench with a mixture of
conservative and liberal justices, the way the judges interpret the constitution is based on their own
ideologies, meaning that the conservative justice will interpret the constitution in a conservative
way, and vice versa for the liberal justices. (Mitchel) An example being in the 2000 election, in
which the fiasco of Bush s victory in Florida ended up having to be hand tallied, the Supreme Court
intervened and due to the five conservative justices ruling against four liberal justices, the court
ruled that the hand tally should cease and that Bush should be elected President. (Mitchel) The final
method of explanation is the strategic model, which states that justices make decisions based on
they think their peers will vote, and

that have inadequately protected their Windows servers. Each day new VPN nodes are added to the
Terracotta network as the Chinese company enlists new victims. Furthermore, the VPN nodes are
not known publicly and only people who subscribe to the Terracotta network have access to these
nodes. http://securityaffairs.co/wordpress/39114/cyber crime/terracotta vpn hacking platform.html

The group sequentially goes down the IP address until it finds a Windows server. Afterwards it
uses a brute force attack to obtain the administrator s password. Once inside it can easily disable
the Windows firewall and inject a remote Trojan. The final step is to create a new account on the
server and install a windows VPN service.
What is unique about the Terracotta attacks is that no one suspects a school would be responsible
for launching an advanced persistent attack on their company. Furthermore, the advanced attacks on
companies are launched from legitimate IP addresses belonging to companies and organizations
with a good reputation. Therefore, it makes it harder for businesses to identify their attackers.
RSA has started publishing the malicious IP address and notifying the U.S. based victims. Many
of the compromised servers have been cleaned up, but there s a lesson to learn from this. No
matter how small your company or even if you don t consider your sever important it needs to be
protected. Any unprotected Windows server can easily become a victim for Terracotta.
Furthermore, all unprotected servers can be used for denial of service attacks or botnets for

Malthus s Theory Of The Demographic Transition Theory
In 1798, Thomas Robert Malthus was ahead of his time. Malthus, an English economist and
demographer, brought to life his theory on how an over populated planet would not be able to
provide for those who reside on it (Macionis, 2013 p .635). Although Malthus was an economic
pessimist, he brought to light a very real truth. Now, 218 years later, Malthus s theory has in some
way become a reality. Although rich nations have slowed in regards to reproduction, poor nations
continue to have high birth rates which put a strain on the global aspects of the environment. As
our planet now holds over 7 billion people (US Census Bureau, 2016), scientists, economists, and
environmentalist s struggle to find a solution to our growing problem. One theory that explains this
populationchange is the demographic transition theory. This theory, defined as a thesis that links
population patterns to a society s level of technological development (Macionis, 2013 p. 636),
suggests that the key to population control lies in technology. Demographic transition theory is a
general description of the mortality, fertility and growth rates as societies move from one transition
to another. There are 4 main stages of the demographic transition theory. Stage 1 includes
preindustrial and agrarian societies in which high birth rates and high death rates were common
(Macionis, 2013 p. 637). With there being no form of birth control, children become an economic
value in the fields as workers. Death is

Adversity In Harrison Bergeron
Is adversity important in society? Harrison Bergeron is a short story written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
It is about a dystopian future that is overly exaggerated as a future for it s ridiculous methods of
equality, such as handicapping someone so they are like everyone else. In The Giver everyone is
similar or transpires to be; competition isn t infatuated for, so no one strives for it. Adversity really
isn t considered a pleasant quality; it more makes you an outcast than anything else; however,
adversity influences the human essence of creativity, improvement, and competition, which all
prosper enjoyment. Jonas, the main character of The Giver, becomes different by being an
intellectual (pg. 127). He knows more than most and therefore feels

How Did Robert Oppenheimer Change The World
J. Robert Oppenheimer, a jewish scientist that created the nuclear bomb, was seen as both a positive
and negative influence on the world. Oppenheimer helped change the world during the Manhatten
Project and after. Being the Father of the Atomic Bomb Oppenheimer gained many enemies. People
did not like that he opposed the hydrogen bomb and gained cultural power. J. Robert Oppenheimer
may have had both positive and negative influences on the world.
The Manhattan Project was a project set up by the government to create a new weapon during. At
the time it was very secret as Franklin Roosevelt had previously said in a letter., I have recently
reviewed with Dr. Bush the highly important and secret program of research. (Library of Congress).
Oppenheimer was the main scientist that was hired during this time. He was hired to build an
atomic bomb. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did not invent the atomic bomb but helped in making it reality. After being a physicist his whole
life he was chosen to help create a weapon. The government picked him because of his many
scientific achievements. (Institute of Advancements). He worked with Albert Einstein and some
other scientist to figure out how to create the bomb. He was the guide to the people and helped
them assemble the bomb.
J. Robert Oppenheimer s bomb was something that nobody had ever built before. It was an atomic
bomb. Unlike the hydrogen bomb they used a uranium atom to make an explosion. It was more
powerful than the hydrogen bomb and was able to be mass produced. They had accomplished their
goal to create a weapon.
At the end of the Manhattan Project the U.S. dropped a bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. After
Oppenheimer saw what damage the bomb could do he argued that they should not produce it. The
bomb killed and destroyed more than anyone expected. The government did not stop they continued
to use the bombs to

  • 2. Environmental Ethics And Pollution Pollution is a growing concern for some people, but for others it is of no importance. The way humans treat the environment is such a controversial topic that people began to examine the topic from a moral standpoint, so much so that three approaches were developed. The Anthropocentric Approach, the Sentientist Approach, and the Biocentric Approach are the main theories people get examine when debating about environmental ethics. People who have an anthropocentric view believe that nature is there to satisfy humaninterests, harming the environmentis only bad if it also harms humans. For example, cutting down a tree to build a house would be a positive thing because it is valuable to humans. However, if cutting down the tree did not bring about a positive outcome the action would be negative. William Baxter is one of the most vocal ethicist that strongly believe in the anthropocentric approach. As stated before, William Baxter focuses on human interests. He believes that the environmentis just a means, a stepping stone to satisfy humans wants and needs. In addition, Baxter believes living in a clean environment is not as achievable as others believe it to be because it is such a broad goal. Baxter argues that clear goals are needed to address moral questions about the environment because the where, when, why, and how are never fully covered when discussing the topic. There is never a clear and concise goal when deliberating environmental issues. For example, if someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Free Market Economy Vs Capitalism Over the centuries, society has debated the most effective and economical methods to solving poverty within politics and government. This debate has carried over into the Christian community as well, with modern day Christians falling into two categories: those who are for free market enterprise, capitalism, and those who agree with the redistribution of wealth, socialism/communism, for fixing the problem of poverty. In looking at both sides of the argument, it can be determined that there is a decidedly faith based approach to understanding the intersection of politics and economics. One could even argue that the failure to view politics and economics through a Christian perspective can have hazardous consequences. When mankind seeks to repair... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This side favors a more socialistic/communisticoutlook arguing for more government intervention and a redistribution of wealth to the masses. Although on paper, socialism/communism looks ideal; in reality the system is ineffectual. Samuel Gregg addresses this point in his critique of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders remarking on Sanders lack of attention to other factors of poverty such as ...family breakdown, single parent households, and mental illness. Addressing these issues requires much more than just giving people more material things, and often has little to do with economic inequality. They often require moral, even spiritual solutions. Those who subscribe to the quixotic ideals of socialism disregard the rights of the individual to ownership. Communism works much in the same manner attributing the source of evil to the institution of private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Paper On Uncomplicated Grief Grief is an inner sense of loss, feeling of emptiness and sadness every human being experience at some point of life and each person feels and handles it differently. • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Hong Kong Schooling Hong Kong schooling can be seen as an elitist or as a pyramidal school system. As formal schooling begins, many (if not all) parents will make every effort to help their child gain admission to prestigious primary schools such as La Salle. At Year 6, students strive for higher banding allocation so as to be assigned to better secondary schools. In sixth form, students fight for the best exam scores possible, as the students with the best exam scores are offered places of first degree courses at the eight government funded institutions. Even then, intense competition has occurred amongst this group of high achievers for admission to the more preferred institutions or courses. For example, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been the most preferred among the eight for many years. This scenario is exceptionally consistent with traditional chinese culture, as according to Gow et al., 199, only a small... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Analysis Of Lincoln Electric Company Of Cleveland Ohio Usa... Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland Ohio USA`s organizational Culture is exceptional and has earned it the acolade of being the best managed manufacturing company in the whole world. I will explore and attempt to identify culture aspects of Lincoln Electric from several issues such as; the continuing influence of founders of the company, the golden rule, the incentive management plan, the performance appraisal system, how people communicate in the organization, the merit pay plan, the bonus plan, and the management style. Normally Founders instill the culture they want right from the beginning of their organizations. That is exactly what John C Lincoln did when he established his company Lincoln Electric in 1895. He stablished a culture of innovation and even left administrative burdens of the company to a brother, James Lincoln, so he could focus on innovation. This streak has continued to date where Lincoln is not afraid to experiment with new ideas .e.g. the cost saving feature of welding electrodes for construction and equipment manufacturing. The electrode process at Lincoln remains a secretive affair which won`t be divulged to outsiders. According to the OCP framework on organizational culture innovative cultures are not fussy about titles and flat in their structure that is they are less bureaucratic. • 8. The California Osteoporosis Prevention And Education Act Every year, about one third of everyone over the age of 65 falls, and do not report it to their doctors. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in older people (Falls Among Older Adults). Falls become more common as people age because their bones become more brittle and their muscle mass decreases. In society today, the baby boomers are aging, which means falls will continue to increase in frequency. When a person falls, it doesn t just affect the victim; it affects everyone. In 2012, approximately $30 billion went towards medical costs that were associated with falls (Falls Among Older Adults). To prevent more people being injured and more money being spent, there has to be a change. In 2010, the California OsteoporosisPrevention and Education Act was established. This acts intent is to spread public awareness of osteoporosis, how it can be prevented, and to improve the way osteoporosis is treated. Half of all older women and 15 percent of older men will suffer a fracture related to osteoporosis (Stone). Insurable Interest Essay What is Insurable Interest in a Maritime Insurance Policy The term insurable interest refers to the benefit (or interest) a person has in an insured object (or person as in a life insurance insurable interest). This benefit can refer to a financial benefit, among others. A person has insurable interest in a thing when he or she would experience some kind of loss (financial or otherwise) if the thing were to be damaged or lost. Say that you have piece of jewelry in your home that is also a family heirloom. If someone were to steal it (or if you were to drop it down the sink, or in the toilet, or even lose it in the garbage) you would suffer different kinds of loss, both financial and emotional. Thus, you have an insurable interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no requirement of insurable interest when the contract is made. This section also allows the subject matter of a marine policy to be insured lost or not lost . This means that it is possible for the insured to recover under a marine policy even if he acquired his interest after the loss has occurred, unless he was aware of the loss and the insurer was not. These rules reflect the practices of marine trade where cargo frequently changes ownership in the course of transit. In this case there is a transfer of rights i.e assignment of interest. Assignment of Interest may be done by endorsement in blank that is to sign the policy. Alternatively, this can be also done by signing in favor of one other person. In turn, only that person can then claim to be the rightful owner. The law permits this unless the policy states otherwise. However, hull policies prohibit assignment even though the marine act promotes this transfer of rights. An interesting fact is that companies can have insurable interest in their workers, both in higher ups and in those lower down the ladder. There has been some controversy about this recently, where companies took life insurance policies out on their employees without their employees consent. In these instances, the companies collected the policies on their deceased employees, who sometimes did not even work for them anymore. Of course companies have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His sermons were so phenomenal that Emperor Theodosius II inaugurated him as Patriarch of Constantinople in 428 AD. Shortly after, Nestorius became involved in two theological factions debating in their Christology. One side said the Jesus was born as a man, and they called Mary Theotokos, meaning God bearer. The form of government a nation has is influenced by their past government and the specific circumstances in the country. There are many variations of essentially similar forms of government. All forms of government can be simplified into a classification as either limited or unlimited. Limited governmentis regulated by a constitution and a functioning legal system. This places restrictions on the nation s leaders and limits their power. One of the characteristics of a limited government is that the leaders are chosen in free and fair elections. Because of the restrictions on a limited government, the citizens in these countries tend to have more rights and liberties. Unlimited government happens when a single person, or a small group controls power. Unlimited governments retain power by controlling virtually every aspect of the country. Their rule is often by force with little say by citizens. If elections occur, they are controlled, not fair, and the outcome may be predetermined. Unlimited governments do not abide by constitutions, if they exist, or leaders change them to suit their needs. A survey of governments shows that most unlimited governments come to an end because of civil unrest. This can be seen in the historical government of East Germany, also known as the German Democratic Republic. The use of the word democratic in this countries name is something of a farce. In reality, the country operated under a communist model, similar to the Soviet Union. This was an unlimited government, which did not have free elections and the leaders having consolidated control of everything. The government essentially planned the economy, which lead to food shortages. Even basic necessities were rationed to the extreme. Despite these shortcomings, East Germany had the strongest economy of all communist countries. Their output was centered on industrial production of a variety of goods. Like other communist countries, since the government owned most of the capital, it controlled the wealth created. The citizens existed just above sustenance. • 24. The Women s Liberation Movement Essay In the attempt to gain equality for women across gender barriers in all aspects of society, the battle that women have had to endure throughout history has been anything but peaceful. Particularly in the United States, the women s liberation movement is an example of how women in the U.S. took a stance to protest for their civil and reproductive rights, domestic violence issues, women s suffrage, and sexual harassment and gender based violence that is inflicted upon women on a daily basis. This movement was full of women passionate for gender based equality in the U.S, however this feminist movement was not as easy to join if you were a black woman. A reason for this hardship was because of the racial conflict and tension that is experienced by African Americanpeople living in the United States that is dated back to the inhumane implantation of slavery. Racismin America is the result of the white social construction of identity and the perpetrated norm of the otherness. The marginalization of disclosing black women from the U.S. women s liberation movement demonstrates an explicit example of how the attempt to protest for gender equality was overshadowed by a racialized closed door way of thinking. Therefore, this essay will closely examine the feminist liberation movement in the United States and explain the hardships and racial struggles that black women had to endure in their attempt to join this movement. It will look from a different angle towards this women s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of this, there are many different issues in which any two people are going to fail to see eye to eye on. Differing viewpoints lead to arguments that are created by people in order to argue their points. While some arguments that are created are based in fact, some arguments are based upon false assumptions and trickery, with these unsound arguments being known as fallacies. A study of fallacies reveal the true nature of false arguments, and better equips an individual to identify invalid arguments. Argument with Fallacies The Ebola virus is in danger of spreading rapidly in the United States. A report on the New York Times website, written by Kevin Sack, has revealed the fact that Ebola has spread from person to person at a Texas hospital. In order to protect the citizens of the United States, a prompt and quick lock down of the entire state of Texas in needed and necessary in order to protect the United States. Since Ebola has officially been confirmed to have spread from one person to another in Texas, it can be assumed that the conditions exist in Texas that allow the spread of the virus to occur. History of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Air Force Although the 82nd Airborne was organized in 1917 during America s involvement in the First World War it was during the Second World War that the unit gained its reputation. Its distinctive name was garnered from the fact that members of the division originated from communities throughout the entire country so the term All American was utilized and explains the presence of the distinctive AA on the division s shoulder patch. The division saw limited involvement during the First World War as it saw service in only three battles but one of the most famous characters emerging from the War, Sergeant York, was a member of the 82nd Airborne. Sergeant York was honored with the Medal of Honor for his efforts in single handily killing a number of Germans and capturing over a hundred of other German soldiers during the Meuse Argonne offensive (Pushies). Following the end of the First World War, the division, consistent with the nation s intent to withdraw from international affairs, was disbanded but as the United Statesbegan to prepare for entry into the Second World War the unit was reactivated. This time, however, the activities of the division were altered from being a routine infantry unit into the country s first army division dedicated to airborne activities and its name was changed from being the 82nd Division to its present designation as the 82nd Airborne. And Toronto has been named to many best of lists for living quality, safety, and creativity. But this economic boom and wealth have not been evenly distributed across all regions of the city. While Toronto is normally considered as a safer city, significant crime does seriously occur in many neighborhoods. This neighborhood has seen a severe declination and deterioration in living quality which results in the loss of the middle class. Many scholars have suggested that factors such as the change in the modern thinking of living, population flow, and government policies can lead to this declination and deterioration of the Markham and Lawrence neighborhood. The flight of middle class has left this neighborhood with social disadvantage and marginalized population such as recent immigrants, single parent families, and racialized people who were unable to receive affordable accommodations elsewhere. In fact, people fail to improve their living quality due to the social segregation of poverty. In addition, it draws evidence on the issue of urban inequality in public housing, poverty concentration, and gentrification. Theoretically, the perception of urban inequality is not only about the low economic status, working class displacement and ethnic heterogeneity, but rather the quality of street spectacles, housing, and residential stability that lead to the current condition of higher crime rate. Toronto has become increasingly polarized. Referring to Hulchanski s analysis on the Toronto s three cities, the Markham and Lawrence neighborhood locates in the City#3 zone. Whether a regime was or was not democratic during the time that World War I, World War II, and the Cold War took place has no influence on being the exact cause of the war, because the determining factors of why the previously listed wars occurred lies among the many constraints; protecting alliances, attempts at deterrence, balancing power, acting on misinterpretation, rise in aggression, and difference of beliefs and ideologies in relation to those of people from other countries. It just so happens that the Countries that are not democratic are in a position where they have to deal with appealing to their allies in order to not be alone at war. When approaching World War I, through the use of textual evidence from Why Nations Go to War by John G. Stoessinger and information from Professor Roeder s lecture course the reason for why the rise in aggression, protection of alliances, and acting on misinterpretation are the causes of this war and can be easily merged into one flowing argument by using the concept of what the Blank Check is and how it s application in World War I resulted with Germany turning a small event into a global war. • 33. Naturalism As A Literary Genre Anyone who has read American literature will know of the significance of naturalism as a literary genre in American literature. Merriam Webster s definition of Naturalism is as follows: A theory that art or literature should conform exactly to nature or depict every appearance of the subject that comes to the artist s attention, specifically a theory in literature emphasizing the role of heredity and environment upon human life and character development. Naturalismwent from being a movement in the 19th and 20th century to the literary genre it is today. Even though some consider naturalism to be stereotypical and one dimensional, naturalism remains an important literary genre in American literature today because of it s ability to turn from a literary movement to a literary genre and it s popular novelists and major characteristics remain front and center in American literature today. Emile Zola created the term naturalism. Zola was a French novelist who sought a new and modern way of convincing his readers of his fiction(Zhang 196). According to Xiaofen Zhang, naturalism is believed to be a new and harsher realism (195). Naturalism became prominent in the late nineteenth century in America. • 34. Positive And Negative Consequences Of Repealing The Jones Act Cost Analysis: I firmly believe, repealing the jones act would certainly make American economy prosperous. In this section I will bolster my opinion by analyzing some positive and negative consequences of repealing the act in terms of cost, economic impact, and national safety. Positive Consequences of repealing Jones act: Repealing the Jones Act could benefit the American economy, as it is cheaper to build ships outside USA and hiring foreign crew Building ships in America is certainly costly affair. It could cost five times more than the shipbuilt outside USA due high labor rates. Thus, repealing the jones act, means American companies can lookout for cheaper options and buy vessels made in foreign countries at cheaper rates. Wages for foreign crews are substantially lower than American crews. American crews cost nearly 4.5 times more than foreign crews. These wages make up nearly 75 percent of the operating cost difference between the two. If foreign shippers were permitted to enter the U.S. market, American companies would be forced to compete, and lower both their wages and prices to more reasonable levels. Cost of living would be significantly cheaper in states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico Currently people from states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico have to spend a lot of money to get goods due to higher freight transportation rates imposed by the Jones act. For example, it costs about $750 to ship a 45 foot container from Los Angeles to Shanghai, but it costs $8,500 to ship the same container from Los Angeles to Honolulu. This means that it costs 11 times more money to ship something to some domestic locations than international ones. Thus, repealing jones act, the cost of living in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico would decrease greatly as residents would not have to spend as much money to get goods, from mainland America or from a foreign nation. Economic boost for American Industries Relaxing the Jones Act would lead to an economic boost for many industries across the nation, and provide more goods at lower prices for American consumers. However, many Americans re simply unaware of the impact that the extra shipping costs of the Jones Act has on their lives, and therefore efforts to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper will explain more of why I feel this way. I will also provide four peer reviewed sources supporting my argument. The first reason I find it to be unethical is because of the ways in which subjects were lured into participating in the study. Certain people could say they volunteered but that would require they not be compensated for their efforts in any way. Each participant was financially compensated with $4.50 which is the equivalent of about $25.00 to today s currency (Dollar Times, 2008). Because none of the participants were truly volunteers their actions and subsequent test results must not be considered ethically accurate when comparing them to society in general. Continuing on, the setting in which the participants were observed was a foreign setting all with employing behaviors unique to that of a scientist (Baurimd, 1964). Now, coupling the foreign setting, strange behaviors and the fact they have been paid with the principle of participant obedience, it can be assumed that all these attributes mixed together would result in an overly obedient test subject. Included are the legal model, in which the decisions are based solely on the provided facts on the case. ACLU where the court ruled that the anti obscenity law was to broadly written that it violated the first amendment right. (Mitchel) Another methodology used is the attitudinal model, where the justices can make any decision they wish without fear of losing their job due to their life term in the position. (Mitchel) A way of viewing this would be imagining a bench with a mixture of conservative and liberal justices, the way the judges interpret the constitution is based on their own ideologies, meaning that the conservative justice will interpret the constitution in a conservative way, and vice versa for the liberal justices. (Mitchel) An example being in the 2000 election, in which the fiasco of Bush s victory in Florida ended up having to be hand tallied, the Supreme Court intervened and due to the five conservative justices ruling against four liberal justices, the court ruled that the hand tally should cease and that Bush should be elected President.
