This document discusses the differences between nomadic and mobility concepts and their applications. It argues that nomadic creates a better user experience than pure mobility. Smartphones, tablets, and internet keys are growing in usage share. Users need flexible, easy, and full access to personal data across hardware and software platforms. The document introduces a mobility index to measure the degree of direct motion between information sources and destinations for different services. Drivers for nomadic solutions include mobile data traffic coming from data cards and mobile broadband replacing ADSL. Examples of nomadic applications discussed include video calling, contact management software, an assistant, and quality monitoring.

• Smartphones, Tablets and internet keys market share is continuously growing.
• Users needs to have flexible, easy and full portability and access of personal/working data
and/or own personal/working environment such as “My Desktop”, “My apps”.
• Data and application must be compliant with all main HW and SW platform User Freedom.
• We introduce the concept of mobility index (MI) as the degree of direct relative motion
between source and destination of information for a specific service. As bigger is as much a
service can be used in mobility.

• Over 90% of Mobile data connectivity traffic comes from datacard.  Typical usage of
smartphones/tablet is over WiFi.
• Mobile broadband is replacing adsl.
• Telco and service providers must “control” each device as market driver for upselling.
