The Ideas Of Victory Cities
A man named Orville Simpson II has an idea to build virtual utopias, called Victory Cities.
(Simpson, 1998) They are designed as cities built in the countryside, all connected through
various types of transportation. There will be no crime, pollution, over population, or other
everyday problems; it will be a utopia. A utopia is a place where there are no problems like death,
poverty, or crime. It is perfect world (Merriam Webster.com) A Victory City
will have no everyday
problems involved in it. Will Victory Cities be a successful utopia, or not?
One of the most important factors in a Victory City is the money system. Mr. Simpson s brilliant
idea for the money system is having all citizens carry a banknote around with them. When someone

These are imaginative ideas for the residential areas, but it can have problems, such as some
people being jealous of the people with larger apartments. People today don t share apartments
with strangers, making it a different system than our society, but I think it is still a great idea. It
will be a large part of a Victory City.
Another essential element in a Victory City is transportation. Within the city, there will be only two
types of transportation: elevators, and small electric cars. The high speed elevators make it
possible to move around a building, from one place to another, in only five to ten minutes. The
electric cars are very safe, even children can operate them, and they will prevent many accidents.
Connecting Victory Cities will be larger electric cars and trains, running through tunnels
underground. The transportation system is quite different than our way, as we can choose
between varieties of different vehicles, and it is not allowed in a Victory City. I think it is a
brilliant idea for the transportation in the city. Mr. Simpson s safe transportation system will be a
major part of the city.A fourth element in a Victory City will be a food system.

During The Industrial Revolution Robber Barons
During the Industrial Revolution, robber barons corrupted the government. The greedy robber
barons overpowered the working class. With that massive wealth, they created monopolies. The
robber barons corrupted the government during the Industrial Revolution by working the system.
A way they worked the system was by the standard oil trust. Rockefeller drove competitors out of
business by selling oil lower than the cost to make it. Once Rockefeller drove out all competition,
the prices skyrocketed. By doing that he worked the system to be in control of all oil companies.
Also, another way robber barons corrupted the government was by being exploiters. They were
exploiters because they got European immigrants and children and took advantage

How Did The German Disadvantage During Covert Intelligence...
Section 1: Identification and evaluation of sources The investigation will answer the question,
how did the German disadvantage in covert intelligence due to the Double Cross System impact
the Western front of World War II. It will focus on the time period of World War II (1939 1945)
in Germany and Britain and the effect of British counter intelligence on the course of the war,
specifically: D day, the V1 and V2 London bombings, tactical plans, and technological
developments. The investigation will involve the examination of military documents from the
time period and books using such evidence, including The Double Cross System in the War of
1939 to 1945 by John C Masterman and A Short History of the Second World War by Basil
Collier, relevant for analysis of the Double Cross System and its effect. The source, The Double
Cross System in the War of 1939 to 1945, was written as an internal government report following
the war in 1945 and published widely with censorship in 1978. It provides a perspective regarding
counter espionage in the immediate post war years but the censorship is a limitation, not providing
a full account. It originates from John C Masterman, chairman of the Twenty Committee, which
helped run the Double Cross System. This introduces a limitation as Masterman was influenced to
report more strongly on the organization s successes. However, this is also a value as it was
written based on personal experiences and often classified information. The purpose of

Globalization And Its Impact On Globalization
The world as we know it, is changing everyday at any given moment. This could be economies,
cultures, religions, environments, etc. Yet, there is one term that has become greatly more popular
in our generation. This would be globalization. Globalization is discussed about by many people
even myself included, but do we really know what it further entails? Globalization has allowed
many countries to come together and succeed in more efficient markets, wealthequality, and new
solutions for all that are involved. Furthermore, we must analyze globalization, look at different
arguments for and against it, and discover what purpose it s trying accomplish across the world.

They believe that the idea of creating a society that is closer to the model of liberal politics will
produce a better running country. I would have to disagree with that statement because I see
many problems associating with an all liberal society. The main problem being that power lies
within the individuals, not the government. I think the government should always have more
authority over the people to keep the country in order. The government has more experience and
should do whats best for the country in the first place, so all individuals can be satisfied. The
reason why we have governments in the first place is to run countries and make sure they are
prospering. Furthermore, I do like the ideas that they present and I think it has great intent
towards globalization. Now looking into Sen s work, we see a little different view point on what
she thinks of globalization. She truly does believe that globalization has a lot to offer, but it also
comes along with many problems. The two main problems that she highlights in her writings are
ethical and human concerns. Basically, she is concerned on the fact that in globalization, we are
taught that people are being treated equally and fairly in all aspects. Yet, her findings suggest that
many individuals are still being mistreated and not fully accounted for in the equal distribution part.
She also brings up another idea about if the poor is actually getting the same shared benefits

Middle Eastern Restaurants Are Usually Small Businesses,
Middle Eastern restaurants are usually small businesses, having a small business in America
equals good profit. There are 28 million small businesses in America that make up 54% of all
U.S. sales; 55% of all jobs and 66% of all net new jobs since the 1970s (U.S Small Business
Administration). Small businesses are growing rapidly. While corporate America has been
downsizing , the rate of small business start ups has grown, and the rate for small business failures
has declined (U.S Small Business Administration).

Restaurant owners and managers are responsible for everything from employee safety to liquor
liability. Insurance, licenses and safety procedures are just a few areas that restaurant owners
should be familiar with (Mealey, 2016).
A restaurant s location is as crucial to its success as great food and service. It will influence many
parts of your restaurant, including the menu (Mealey, 2016). After choosing a good and obvious
location, a restaurant owner should be careful when designing the menu and its content; it is tricky.
Designing the menu takes much planning and the designer should be aware of the importance of
the menu. The menu is one of the most important elements in a restaurant.
Quality is also very important in the restaurant/food industry. Before serving anything, a business
owner should make sure that it meets the quality requirements that are stated from the Department
of Public Health. In California, the Department of Public Health has specific food programs for
each kind of food. Also, it has numerous laws and codes such as the Sherman Food, Drug, and

Controls for Human Food and more. (CDPH).

Informative Speech About Hiccups
Picture this! You are on your second or third date with a guy or girl you really like. At the end of
the date everything seems perfect. The two of you are saying goodnight and you know he or
she is about to kiss you. Finally, when they move in for the kill...HICCUP!!! I am sure at this
point you are now recalling your own embarrassing moments when hiccups came at the wrong
time and wrong place. Not only are you reenacting this scenario in your mind, but now you are
beginning to wonder, What are hiccups anyway? We have all experienced them at some point in
our life, and no one has been exempt from them. They are like unwelcome guests, they come into
your house without knocking or warning, they eat everything in your fridge, hog the T.V. for
hours on end, take a long nap on our couch, and then finally decide they have worn out their
welcome and should probably head home. I have always wondered to myself what exactly
caused these annoyances and how could I just get rid of them. That is what led me to research
this topic and do my speech on it today. For the next 5 or 6 minutes I am going to give you the
definition of hiccups, explain the two different types of hiccups, show you the causes of hiccups,

My Career Of Pharmacy
As a child, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I always spouted out that I wanted to
be a doctor and help people. Now as an adult, those goals have shifted, but not very far from their
origin. I want to help people the way I witnessed my father doing as a firefighter growing up. I
want to be a role model to other children especially as a first generation person going to college.
Educationally, math and science were always listed under the favorite subject category on
worksheets and surveys. Professionally, I have always worked with the public and always
thoroughly enjoyed doing so. I am an outgoing, friendly person who enjoys talking to others and
connecting with people daily. Overall, I believe my personal, educational, and professional life have
led me to my career goals of becoming a Doctor of Pharmacyand helping people in a field in which
I am passionate.
My father has always taught me that you help others in any way you can, no matter the sacrifice.
He also instilled in me to be grateful that I am fortunate enough to have the ability to help others.
These values were taught to him by his father who was a veteran of the Army and through his
career as a firefighter. I can never thank him enough for instilling these values in me as a child and
helping to shape me into the person I am today. These values are what led me to the decision to
pursue pharmacy and my ultimate goal of becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy. The field of pharmacy
that interests me most is

Startup Expenses And Software Development
Startup Expenses
Startup expenses are defined as money that businesses spend before they even open their doors.
They are the expenses that are incurred before the business is running. In the case of GameGo, our
highest startup expenses will come from software development, advertising, and licensing fees.
Software Development Expense
The most important factor in the launch of GameGo is the software development. Bernard

Specifically, we will focus on advertising through video game conventions and social media outlets
such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
From the article How Much Does Facebook Advertise Cost? by Marc Prosser published on July 13,
2013 it states that,
With Facebook, you get to choose what you want to pay for advertising. You will never pay
more than the maximum amount that you bid to have your ad appear or be clicked on. However,
the bidding process is competitive. If you bid too low, your ad will never be seen.
On average, companies spend about $24.00 daily per site to advertising through Facebook,
Instagram, and Twitter, which will let their ad be shown about 36,000 times a day (Prosser,
2013). To make sure our ad is seen efficiently throughout the day, we have set a daily budget of
$27.00 per site equaling $29,565 per year. Having heavy and concise advertising has proven to be
effective for companies when done right.
Another way that we wanted to advertise was by going to video game conventions and getting
our product in the market. The average cost of having a 20X20 square foot booth would be
$50,000 (Cost of Trade Show, 2014). We would have to have a budget of $70,000 for the trade
show to make sure that we have enough for the booth and room and board for the team.
Our objective to this is spreading awareness of the services we

Solar Energy Is The Conversion Of Power From The Sun
Research Paper Solar Energy
Blakely J. Phillips
BGEN 440, Montana State University Billings
Introduction
Solar energy is the conversion of power from the sun to usable electricity (Alternative Energy,
2014). The most common source of solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into
electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Photovoltaics use a semi conductor to absorb the radiation
from the sun, creating and emitting electrons, which are then harnessed and used as electricity
(Alternative Energy, 2014).
Pros of Solar Energy There are many advantages of using solar energy. It is renewable, abundant,
sustainable, environmentally friendly, and more. Solar energy is a renewable energysource, which
means that unlike non renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear energy,
we cannot run out of solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). As long as the sun is alive, which according
to NASA is another 6.5 billion years, we will have access to solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). The
true potential of solar energy is astounding and overly abundant. The surface of Earth receives
120,000 terawatts of solar radiation, better known as sunlight, which is 20,000 times more energy
than what is needed to supply power to the entire world (Maehlum, 2014).
Solar energy is not only abundant and renewable it is also sustainable and environmentally friendly.
As a sustainable energy source, solar energy is able to meet the needs of the present without

Persuasive Essay On Clean Coal
Coal is the dirtiest of all fossil fuels. When burned, it produces emissions that contribute to global
warming, create acid rain and pollute water. With all of the talk surrounding nuclear energy,
hydropower and biofuels, you might be forgiven for thinking that grimy coal is finally on its way
out. On the other hand, coalis no sooty remnant of the Industrial Revolution it generates half of
the electricity in the United States and will likely continue to do so as long as it s cheap and
plentiful . Clean coal technology seeks to reduce harsh environmental effects by using multiple
technologies to clean. Coal is a fossil fuel composed primarily of carbons and hydrocarbons. Its
ingredients help make plastics, tar and fertilizers. A coal derivative, a solidified carboncalled coke,
melts iron ore and reduces it to create steel. But most coal 92 percent of the U.S. supply goes into
power production .Electric companies and businesses with power plants burn coal to make the
steam that turns turbines and generates electricity. When coal burns, it releases carbon dioxideand
other emissions in flue gas, the billowing clouds you see pouring out of smoke stacks. Some clean
coal technologies purify the coal before it burns. One type of coal preparation, coal washing,
removes unwanted minerals by mixing crushed coal with a liquid and allowing the impurities to
separate and settle. Other systems control the coal burn to minimize emissions of sulfur dioxide,
nitrogen oxides and

Anatomical Theory Of Disease Essay
In this paper I am going to discuss the differences between the Humoral concept of disease, the
anatomical theory of disease, the germ theory of disease and the differences between each theory. I
am also going to look at the historical significance of these theories and how they apply to health
and wellness in today s health care. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that
states that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The Humoral theory is derived from
the word humor, but in this context, means fluid . The Humoral theory is related to the theory of
the earth and the four elements. These elements are better known as earth, fire, water and air. The
balance in these earthly elements allows the earth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and
cause certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that
a disease was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three
theories differ because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and
understanding diseases. The Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical
theory allowed us to take a deeper look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us
to learn what was happening in the body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these
two studies we would not have come to the Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different
in concept each theory was important and we would not have been able to progress along to the
next theory. If we would not have had the germ theory we would not have discovered the need
for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories also allowed physicians to learn to look at
diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro scale or big picture. I feel that these
theories have led to significant changes in health care over the years. These theories have allowed
scientist to discover not only how to cure some disease but also how to prevent diseases from
spreading. Scientists were able to develop vaccines, antiseptics, create personal protective
equipment and enabled the public

Pilates And Osteoporosis Case Study
Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little
bone, or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, from
sneezing or minor bumps (nof.org). This skeletal disease is characterized by the increase in the
fragility of bones as a result of reduced bonemass density and the deformation of the structure of
bone tissue (Angin,Erden,Can, 849). Many patients with osteoporosisare instructed by their doctor
to exercise; as this will improve their rehabilitation of this disease and lessen the pain associated
with it. In this study, researchers wanted to examine the effects of Clinical Pilates Exercises on
bone mineral density, physical performance, and quality of life in postmenopausal osteoporosis
patients. In order to determine a correlation between Pilates and osteoporosis improvement, forty

group was involved in a 24 week Pilates exercise program. The control group was not subject to

Debated as one of the most misrepresented cases in American legal history, Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald
still fights for innocence. Contrary to infallible evidence, prosecution intentionally withheld crucial
information aiding MacDonald s alibi. Such ratification included proof of an outside attack that
would have played a major role in Jeffrey s case. Convicted for the murders of his wife and two

MacDonald s story of the four trespassers. When the defense asked to see the lab results, the
prosecutor laid saying the documents had nothing to support MacDonald s claims. There was
evidence on the body of Colette MacDonald. She was holding a brown hair in her hand, and it

rotation of the earth around the sun that provides us our year. Therefore, the sun never changes,
only the earth make a cause to bring changes in light, darkness, and in the temperature. The earth
rotates on an axis that is tilted. When the earth s axis rotate closer to the sun, we expect summer,
and when it spins far away from the sun, we experience winter.

Disadvantages Of Black Colleges
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) were established to serve the African
American community by providing them a higher education. Before HBCU s were established
blacks were denied a higher education because there were only white institutions. This

War. However there were three colleges that were established before the Civil War Cheney

Historically Black Colleges are starting to have more white students than blacks in the schools.
When people hear about these types of universities they assume that only blacks attend the school.
In all actuality, the colleges allow any race to attend the schools.
The disadvatages of going to a HBCU is its environment. The blacks would be surronded by

Evaluation Of A Good Physiological Experiment
Introduction:
A Good physiological experiment like a good physical requires that it should present anywhere, at
any time, under identical conditions, the same certain and unequivocal phenomena that can be
always be confirmed , Johannes Muller as an archetype this is the ideal for any experiment and
subsequent experiments.
If protocols and procedures applications are correctly, they should be repeatable and any results
should be consistent.
With regard to thermal stress, the following should be noted: Thermal homeostasis is a careful
balance of heat production and heat loss with the aim of keeping a constant body temperature. This
range as defined by Anderson, Hall and Martin is 36.1В°C and 37.8В°C, (Anderson et al., 2004)
stating that this mechanism is governed primarily by the hypothalamus, which balances this
between heat loss and heat gain. Since the factor of heat stress we are looking at is heat gain, from
exercise and environmental factors, we need to understand what these are. Both Anderson et al,
Mcardle, et al, agree on the factors, Radiation, Conduction, Convection and Evaporation as the four
factors regulating heat loss. (McArdle, Katch and Katch, 2006)
There are practical considerations with environmental factors such as air temperature and humidity
to consider, since these will not be controllable in a field situation, but will be to a degree in a
laboratory environment. In the field, testing both temperature and humidity can fluctuate greatly,

first time I personally experienced attending a group therapy was part of my course. Through
this experience i can say that group therapy can be very powerful in healing a person
emotionally and since the members were from the same class, where we all have similar goals.
Group therapy helped all of us to establish meaningful and intimate relationship and we also
recognised commanality of members needs and problems and to develop a sense of bonding
and we became very close and we could also be there for each other during emotionally trying
times. It also helped me to increase self growth, self acceptance and self confidence among

helped me in expressing my emotions in a healthy way. I feel that group therapy is one of the most
effective tools for addressing issues among diverse groups. Group therapy can benefit almost
everyone. Like individual counselling, group therapy can benefit almost anyone. It can be
especially useful for people who want to explore their style of relating to others and enhance their

Moon Landing Persuasive Essay
The moon landing was an incredible feat of man. The first mission to the moon was on July 16,

way that the moonlanding could have been faked.
The moon landing was not faked because so many people were involved. First off, this because
Joshua Barajas from PBS said, an estimated 405,000 people involved. This proves my point
because if the moon landing was faked, this many people could not keep a secret for this long. If
the moon landing was faked, this should have been exposed in less than 10 years. Furthermore,

Compare And Contrast Conservative And Conservative
During the late 1920 s and 1930 s, the government of the United States followed both conservative
and liberal policies. Conservatives policies of the 20th century were small government action and
limited regulation of the economy. Liberal policies of the 20th century were regulation of the
economy and the use of government for social welfare. The presidents during this time, Herbert
Hooverand Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), practiced these policies during their terms. Some of
Herbert Hoover s policies followed liberal ideals and some of FDR s policies followed conservative

Tort Court Issues
Internet use has become more popular in the last two decades, while in the 80 and 90 s the common
communication channels were phone and fax, electronic email has become the norm in the new
century; computers and internet use have become ordinary commodities at the workplace. Common
knowledge and internetetiquette (netiquette) teach us essential rules of proper behavior for internet
use. It is imperative that we understand that in the business world, netiquette must go beyond
simple rules of common sense and courtesy, and most companies rely on established policies and
internal controls to assure that employees understand the importance of following ethical and legal

In a tort civil suit, compensatory and punitive damage amounts are awarded in favor of the plaintiff;
some conditions need to exist for a tort to be ruled in favor of a plaintiff. Contrary to a criminal
trial, if the defendant is found guilty, he/she only needs to pay the ordered compensatory damages
to the plaintiff, without the need to spend time incarcerated. There are intentional torts, and torts
cause by negligence. The intention here is to enlighten you and your employees of the possible
consequences of certain internet usage. There are a number of situations that can bring down a tort
civil suit on an employer; among them is sexual harassment, which has become a common
phenomenon of the internet as read in this excerpt, Sexual Harassment is the use of sexualized
intimidation, insult, and threat to exert control over women. On the Internet, such behavior is more
common and more outrageous than in the physical world because of the anonymity of the
communications medium and the disproportionate number of men using it (Waerner, 2016).
Another cause for torts is dissemination of confidential information; an employee(s) disclosing
confidential information pertaining clients through the use of technology, can put an employer a risk
for a tort suit. An important thing to remember is that nowadays, most files can be sent
electronically, and downloads are enabled with just a click of couple of keys, special care need s
to be taken to avoid malware or toher risk associated with viistng at risks sites. Another tort can be
for intentional infliction of emotional distress on someone by a person who exhibited severe and
outrageous behavior intentionally (Legal Information Institute, 2016). This can be done through the
internet in the form of harassment and cyberspace bullying, a common issue in social media.

Compare And Contrast Byzantine And Islam
After the fall of Rome, the Western world experienced a dark age: school were closed, commence

Brown also jumped back to Seatle. Joyce put her four leevedd cleaver on the radio for good

Thus, in California, has been applied the principle, which was then fixed by law, according to

The Effects of Pressure Groups on the Government A pressure group is an organised interest group,
which seek to influence the formulation and the implementation of public policy. In both the
United Kingdom and the United States of America, membership to political parties has decreased,
meanwhile membership to pressure groups have increased. Pressure groups differ from political
parties in that they do not seek to win political office; in addition, they concern themselves with
sectional policy rather than a wide range, and therefore pressure groups aim to protect or advance a
shared interest. The first amendment of the US constitution claims citizens have the right of speech,

With the diminution in membership of political parties, it appears that people would prefer to
invest their energies in pressure groups rather than parties. Within 50 years, membership to the
Labour Party has declined from one million to 280,000 members; the Conservative Party s
membership has decreased even further from 3 million to 318,000. Meanwhile, membership to
organisations such as the National Trust (2.8 million members), and to the Royal Society (one
million) has increased. Jordan and Maloney said in 1997 it may seem parties are replaced by
pressure groups but people prefer to do very little in public interest groups as opposed to very
little in political parties.[1] People prefer pressure groups as they have more chances to involve
themselves in politics. They have a chance to protest, petition and lobby which is all part of a
healthy democratic society. The term pressure group is a broad term; so political commentator Wyn
Grant makes the distinction between insider and outsider groups. Although difficult, it is possible
to distinguish one from the other, by looking at the strategies they employ. Insider groups abide by

The Between Modern And Modern Movement
Even if the Modern Movement has been interpreted in different ways, we consider function and
technology its main features . In fact, in this historical period, the exhibition of the tecnique takes,
in the designing process, different appearences, assuming solutions which go from the
constructivism to the expressionism, where every technical reference is hidden by a strong
formalism.
Another analogy present in the Modern Movement is the function, that is the interaction between a
specific purpose and the natural purposes, existing priori.
All the modern architecture is based on this analogy interaction which defines its built forms and
compositive processes on the relation between a purpose to achieve and the inevitable of its
relation with the man, by finalizing to his life all the expressions of this purpose. All the estetic in
the Modern Movement pass through the obsession of the function, it is possible to see the
manifestation of the Modernism as a process connecting form, function and final purpose with the
fact that we are a human and vital act.
The Modernism presents the exaltation of the machine, of the aesathetic of dynamism, of speed and
industrialization. The celebration of the irreversible alienation that the machine, as a metaphor of
progression, causes on humans, and the breaking of ties between nature and artifact, are two of the
main features of the Modern Movement.

cultures, used them to portray themselves, or their governments, in a new or better light. Some
key topics that covered the ideas of Power, Politics, and Glory were; The glory of the ruler, The
power of state, War, and Peace. The glory of the ruler is what I thought of when reading the title

Devil In The White City Nonfiction
This book is boring. This book is full of facts. I fell asleep reading this book. These are the
nonfiction genre stereotypes that most people think. Erik Larson changed that stereotype and
wrote a nonfiction book with real characters and overall facts. The Devil in the White City does
not only tell an elaborating true story, but it tries to grab the reader to believe that they are
actually living in 1893 during the Chicago World s Fair trials and tribulations. To tell this story,
Larson combines qualities of a nonfiction book and a generic novelto successfully craft a narrative
built on historical facts, therefore developing distinct persons in the cases and elaborating on what
their possible feelings were. The Devil in the White City is extended biographies of Daniel
Burnham and H.H. Holmes that show the hectic troubles that happened during the World s Fair in
the nineteenth century. Novels tell fictional stories with fictional characters. Instead of making up a
story, Larson emphasizes Burnham and Holmes true stories. Anyone could have wrote about the

they will do anything to join with there friends. They get to seek out what sportthey love most, and

Fast Food Nation Vs. Food Inc. (Body Paragraph)
1.The Fast Food Nation Novel and the Food Inc. stress/focus on two different things. The Fast
Food Nation Novel stress more on operating fast food industries. While, the Food Inc. documentary
talks more about the secret that food industries hide from its consumers. For instance, the novel tells
more on the history of famous fast food restaurants such as McDonald, Carl s Junior, and Domino
Pizza. Besides that, the novel also mentioned about the process of processing the food that used in
fast food industries like patties and French fries. For the documentary, it more mentioned on the bad

[(essay date autumn 1982) In the following essay, Senf contends that, contrary to popular belief,
Bram Stoker s treatment of women in his novel stems not from his animosity toward women in
general, but rather from his negative reaction to some attributes of the New Woman.]
Although Dracula,1 which was first published in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact the first passage is neutral and suggests only that she is familiar with the New Woman s
insistence on greater freedom and physical activity, attributes which Gail Cunningham mentions in
her discussion:
It was pointed out that women were likely to remain the weaker sex as long as they were encased
in whalebone and confined their physical activity to the decorous movements of the ballroom, and
the new doctrine of hygiene as it was coyly termed advocated sports for women and Rational
Dress. Many young women pedalled their way to undreamt of freedoms on the newly popular
bicycle; petticoats and chaperons were equally inappropriate accompaniments, and could be
discarded in one go.8
Bicycle riding, bloomers, and badminton may have shocked more conservative people in the 1890s,
but they were probably not enough to worry Stoker or his heroine. Nor was the fact that the New
Woman was often a professional woman who chose financial independence and personal fulfilment
as alternatives to marriage and motherhood. Cunningham adds that while these activities were
important aspects of emancipation, they are not, however, responsible for the New Woman s
becoming a symbol of all that was most challenging and dangerous in advanced thinking. The
crucial factor was, inevitably, sex (Cunningham, p. 2).
When it came to sex the New Woman was more frank and open than her predecessors. She felt free
to initiate sexual

High School Career
Throughout my high school career, I ve endured history class after history class; however, I am no
history buff. My niche happens to fall in the STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and
math. So, my brain prefers to think in terms of numerics and there I sat in AP World and US history
classes, learning what seemed to me as silly, trivial facts about history, until a particular subject
grasped my attention: the evolution of technology and the unfathomable thoughts of inventors.
From the cotton gin to the typewriter, the camera to the telephone, the programmable computer to
the world wide web, the rage of new inventions always explodes across the globe. And as I always
tend to look towards the future, the constant curiosity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning as a miniscule stem cell, an eventual organ can save a life. A major goal of mine is to
turn what is inevitable into preventable; stem cells have proven to be an option to prevent
unnecessary, sorrowful events. A step further, the way to benefit people in rare circumstances is
through personalised treatment and care that can only be made possible with 3D printing. Bertalan
MeskГі describes the miracle that saved Kaiba Gionfriddo from death after being born
prematurely...bioprinting happened to be the miracle. After his caretakers bioprinted a device that
instantly helped him breathe, Kaiba could be taken off a ventilator and breathe through an entire
day (it was abnormal for him to make it an entire day without being unable to breathe.) This case
is considered a prime example of how customized 3D printing is transforming healthcare as we
know it, according to MeskГі.
Seven years ago, my grandfather passed away from oral cancer. As a ten year old, I didn t
understand what was happening as I stood by the bed of my Pap at the hospice center. Fighting
through years of chemotherapy and radiation, trips to Indianapolis for treatment, and living in my
house along with my grandmother, my Pap was defeated by cancer on July 24 of 2009. My interest
in bioprinting constantly makes me wonder what if. The major developments with bioprinting
tailored treatments started only recently. Now, I know I cannot change

The Dalai Lama
The story of the Dalai Lama has been told and repeated innumerable times and usually leans
toward the personality, ideas and teachings of the current Dalai Lama who is the 14th incarnation
named Tenzin Gyatso. This paper, instead, revolves around the position and concept of the role of
the Dalai Lama. The conception of the Dalai Lamaoriginated in Tibetan Buddhism and comes from
a line of learned preachers, known as tulkus, that are considered to be the incarnations of the
Boddhisattva of compassion, Avalokitesvara. This idea of reincarnation of a soul is uncommon in
other forms and schools of Buddhism which, accordingly, sets Tibetan Buddhism apart and
establishes the foundation upon which the Dalai Lama exists. I will be discussing the role of the
Dalai Lama through the exploration of Tibetan Buddhism and the previously mentioned terms
Avalokitesvara, Boddhisattva, tulkus and more. I will also consider the Dalai Lama s role as both
a spiritual and secular head of the Tibetan State.
The title of Boddhisattva is given to those who take the vow to become a fully enlightened buddha
yet stay in the samsaric cycle of rebirth out of sheer compassion to aid others in attaining nirvana.
Avalokitesvara is considered to have been one of the first to have made the vow to postpone their
own buddhahood until he has assisted every being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The position of the Dalai Lama was solely a spiritual and religious one. That changed when the
Fifth Dalai Lama, Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso, established the Garden Phodrang Government in
1642, consequently adding the role of a secular political leader to the position. Over the six
hundred years since Gedun Drupa, the role and position of the Dalai Lama has changed throughout

No Place Like Home
No Place Like Home
To me home is where you go to get away from the crazy outside world. Home is a place where
you feel a sense of belonging and familiarity. Home for me is currently here in Derby, Kansas.
For almost 19 years now my home has been where my mother lives. My mom makes wherever
we stay at feel like home. I feel the love and security I get throughout the house and it s just the
greatest feeling. It is the first house my parents have owned and it makes it that much more
special to me. I am blessed I have a place to go when I want to escape the rest of the world.
I am allowed to go home each and every day as I please. But only because my lovely mother allows
me to come and go. Since day one of moving into the house my mom has had it feeling just like a
home should in my eyes. You walk in and you can just tell whoever lives in the house is really
about family, it is a very pleasant feel. There is pictures of friends and family all over the walls. I
smile each time I pass the pictures and reminisce on the special moments and people in them. In
my house you have a chance to see the cats zoom by if you get in the front door fast enough. Or
you might have to chase after the dogs if you don t shut the outside glass door correctly. Or
maybe you are lucky enough to get there when mom is working in the kitchen. From what I have
been told by friends and family that is the best time to walk in, and I agree. But no matter the time
you walk into my special place it s always a

What Extent Do Liberals Support Democracy
To what extent do liberals support democracy (45 marks)
Democracy is the ultimate political form of ideological liberalism. It refers to the ideal form of
state, and is common to both classical and modern liberals.
In the 19th century, liberals often saw democracy as threatening or dangerous. Political theorists
such as Plato and Aristotle viewed democracy as being a system of rule at the expense of wisdom
and property. The principle that the will of the majority should prevail over the minority may
have negative effects. In Northern Ireland, a very divided religious country, if the 51% get their
way, the other 49% will be in outrage. Democracy thus comes down to the rule of the 51%, as
French politician Alexis De Tocqueville... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefor although citizens may vote for a leader, they will then make decisions based on a small
number of peoples view for the majority of the people. The minority ruling the majority.
However a reason why liberals support democracy is that it shows each individual is equal one
vote per person, gives everyone equal influence on how countries governed. Since voting is done
individually, it constraints the collective pressures of groups within society.
To conclude, liberals are now staunch advocates of democracy as it provides personal
development, consent and all individuals are equal. Modern liberals embrace democracy, but only
in the specific liberal form. They reject other forms of democracy, which may be less pluralist or
more participatory, as downright

Curriculum Standards Should Align College and Work...
Introduction
The low percentage of high school students, who successfully transition to college without requiring
developmental courses, supports the rationale for action research on K through 12 curriculum
development ability to produce college ready students. The Pennsylvania Common Core clearly
notes that curriculum standards should align college and work expectation. Unfortunately, the
inability to meet the demands continue at the forefront. As a result, I chose to approach this
research from Problem Based Learning Theory (PBL). PBL focuses on the investigation and
resolution of messy, real world problems Curriculum Development (http://www.learning

Who teaches the newly mapped curriculum to your staff? We have a Teacher Leadership Council,
formally a Curriculum Council, whose job it is to lead department colleagues in the writing,
implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and assessment. All committees require one
administrator (Minnich). In a similar manner, higher education and K through 12 both have
procedures in place through DACUM facilitators and Leadership Council members. The level of
development differs between institutions due to the level of education and training obtained by
those leading and planning invigorating ideas that support change.
Is there an articulation between grade levels? Yes, we have vertical collaboration meetings between
grade levels on a regular basis. This includes meetings between the same subject areas in other
buildings to ensure that the curriculum is aligned from one level to the next (Minnich). However,
higher education maps specifically for one major verses foundational matriculation that requires
retention and transferable skills throughout their learning experience. In addition, the mapping
process is initially reviewed for rigor by the department chair, library liaison, and curriculum

Impact Of Space On The Space Industry
Space Industry is a broad term. It includes a huge variety of different sectors and industries. It is
not easy to track down an accurate definition of its boundaries. Estimation of the global value of the
industry present significant discrepancies. It can be agreed, however, that the Space industry
generates important revenues: SIA estimates USD 322.7 billion of global revenues for the industry
in 2014, while the Space Foundation estimates USD 330 billion.
The space economy has presented a constant and sustained growth over the last 40 years. As we
can observe in Figure 1 in the last 40 years space sector revenue s has grown significantly faster
than the global GDP. Moreover, the development of many modern widespread technologies have...

In broad terms, the literature distinguishes between three different sectors: scientific, military, and
commercial.
The scientific sector aims to develop new academic and technological knowledge, providing other
sectors the capabilities needed for their activities. Universities and research institutes are important
scientific and technological actors. The military sector, on the other hand, provides the conditions
required to secure national assets. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness
and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the
sustainability of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the
only one specifically designed to be profitable.
As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space
strategy in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper,
but not the only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in
isolation.
SPACE INDUSTRY S VALUE CHAIN
When asked about space activities, most people tend to think about big government and public
funded projects such as the International Space Station (ISS), the Voyager program, which is now
exploring the boundaries of our solar system, or the Mars Rover, which is studying Mars surface.
This is understandable, as such

  • 2. The Ideas Of Victory Cities A man named Orville Simpson II has an idea to build virtual utopias, called Victory Cities. (Simpson, 1998) They are designed as cities built in the countryside, all connected through various types of transportation. There will be no crime, pollution, over population, or other everyday problems; it will be a utopia. A utopia is a place where there are no problems like death, poverty, or crime. It is perfect world (Merriam Webster.com) A Victory City will have no everyday problems involved in it. Will Victory Cities be a successful utopia, or not? One of the most important factors in a Victory City is the money system. Mr. Simpson s brilliant idea for the money system is having all citizens carry a banknote around with them. When someone ... People today don t share apartments with strangers, making it a different system than our society, but I think it is still a great idea. It will be a large part of a Victory City. Another essential element in a Victory City is transportation. Within the city, there will be only two types of transportation: elevators, and small electric cars. The high speed elevators make it possible to move around a building, from one place to another, in only five to ten minutes. The electric cars are very safe, even children can operate them, and they will prevent many accidents. Connecting Victory Cities will be larger electric cars and trains, running through tunnels underground. The transportation system is quite different than our way, as we can choose between varieties of different vehicles, and it is not allowed in a Victory City. I think it is a brilliant idea for the transportation in the city. Mr. Simpson s safe transportation system will be a major part of the city.A fourth element in a Victory City will be a food system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With that massive wealth, they created monopolies. The robber barons corrupted the government during the Industrial Revolution by working the system. Section 1: Identification and evaluation of sources The investigation will answer the question, how did the German disadvantage in covert intelligence due to the Double Cross System impact the Western front of World War II. It will focus on the time period of World War II (1939 1945) in Germany and Britain and the effect of British counter intelligence on the course of the war, specifically: D day, the V1 and V2 London bombings, tactical plans, and technological developments. The investigation will involve the examination of military documents from the time period and books using such evidence, including The Double Cross System in the War of 1939 to 1945 by John C Masterman and A Short History of the Second World War by Basil Collier, relevant for analysis of the Double Cross System and its effect. The source, The Double Cross System in the War of 1939 to 1945, was written as an internal government report following the war in 1945 and published widely with censorship in 1978. It provides a perspective regarding counter espionage in the immediate post war years but the censorship is a limitation, not providing a full account. It originates from John C Masterman, chairman of the Twenty Committee, which helped run the Double Cross System. This introduces a limitation as Masterman was influenced to report more strongly on the organization s successes. However, this is also a value as it was written based on personal experiences and often classified information. The purpose of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Globalization And Its Impact On Globalization The world as we know it, is changing everyday at any given moment. This could be economies, cultures, religions, environments, etc. Yet, there is one term that has become greatly more popular in our generation. This would be globalization. Globalization is discussed about by many people even myself included, but do we really know what it further entails? Globalization has allowed many countries to come together and succeed in more efficient markets, wealthequality, and new solutions for all that are involved. Furthermore, we must analyze globalization, look at different arguments for and against it, and discover what purpose it s trying accomplish across the world. Authors John Micklehwait, Adrian Wooldridge, and Amartya Senhave... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They believe that the idea of creating a society that is closer to the model of liberal politics will produce a better running country. I would have to disagree with that statement because I see many problems associating with an all liberal society. The main problem being that power lies within the individuals, not the government. I think the government should always have more authority over the people to keep the country in order. The government has more experience and should do whats best for the country in the first place, so all individuals can be satisfied. The reason why we have governments in the first place is to run countries and make sure they are prospering. Furthermore, I do like the ideas that they present and I think it has great intent towards globalization. Now looking into Sen s work, we see a little different view point on what she thinks of globalization. She truly does believe that globalization has a lot to offer, but it also comes along with many problems. The two main problems that she highlights in her writings are ethical and human concerns. Basically, she is concerned on the fact that in globalization, we are taught that people are being treated equally and fairly in all aspects. Yet, her findings suggest that many individuals are still being mistreated and not fully accounted for in the equal distribution part. Now as an adult, those goals have shifted, but not very far from their origin. I want to help people the way I witnessed my father doing as a firefighter growing up. I want to be a role model to other children especially as a first generation person going to college. Educationally, math and science were always listed under the favorite subject category on worksheets and surveys. Professionally, I have always worked with the public and always thoroughly enjoyed doing so. I am an outgoing, friendly person who enjoys talking to others and connecting with people daily. Overall, I believe my personal, educational, and professional life have led me to my career goals of becoming a Doctor of Pharmacyand helping people in a field in which I am passionate. My father has always taught me that you help others in any way you can, no matter the sacrifice. He also instilled in me to be grateful that I am fortunate enough to have the ability to help others. These values were taught to him by his father who was a veteran of the Army and through his career as a firefighter. • 10. Solar Energy Is The Conversion Of Power From The Sun Research Paper Solar Energy Blakely J. Phillips BGEN 440, Montana State University Billings Introduction Solar energy is the conversion of power from the sun to usable electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). The most common source of solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Photovoltaics use a semi conductor to absorb the radiation from the sun, creating and emitting electrons, which are then harnessed and used as electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Pros of Solar Energy There are many advantages of using solar energy. It is renewable, abundant, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and more. Solar energy is a renewable energysource, which means that unlike non renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear energy, we cannot run out of solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). As long as the sun is alive, which according to NASA is another 6.5 billion years, we will have access to solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). The true potential of solar energy is astounding and overly abundant. The surface of Earth receives 120,000 terawatts of solar radiation, better known as sunlight, which is 20,000 times more energy than what is needed to supply power to the entire world (Maehlum, 2014). I am also going to look at the historical significance of these theories and how they apply to health and wellness in today s health care. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and cause certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that a disease was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three theories differ because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed us to take a deeper look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us to learn what was happening in the body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these two studies we would not have come to the Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have had the germ theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories also allowed physicians to learn to look at diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro scale or big picture. I feel that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the years. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, from sneezing or minor bumps (nof.org). With regard to thermal stress, the following should be noted: Thermal homeostasis is a careful balance of heat production and heat loss with the aim of keeping a constant body temperature. This range as defined by Anderson, Hall and Martin is 36.1В°C and 37.8В°C, (Anderson et al., 2004) stating that this mechanism is governed primarily by the hypothalamus, which balances this between heat loss and heat gain. Since the factor of heat stress we are looking at is heat gain, from exercise and environmental factors, we need to understand what these are. Both Anderson et al, Mcardle, et al, agree on the factors, Radiation, Conduction, Convection and Evaporation as the four factors regulating heat loss. (McArdle, Katch and Katch, 2006) There are practical considerations with environmental factors such as air temperature and humidity to consider, since these will not be controllable in a field situation, but will be to a degree in a laboratory environment. Pressure groups differ from political parties in that they do not seek to win political office; in addition, they concern themselves with sectional policy rather than a wide range, and therefore pressure groups aim to protect or advance a shared interest. Therefor although citizens may vote for a leader, they will then make decisions based on a small number of peoples view for the majority of the people. The minority ruling the majority. However a reason why liberals support democracy is that it shows each individual is equal one vote per person, gives everyone equal influence on how countries governed. • 48. Curriculum Standards Should Align College and Work... Introduction The low percentage of high school students, who successfully transition to college without requiring developmental courses, supports the rationale for action research on K through 12 curriculum development ability to produce college ready students. The Pennsylvania Common Core clearly notes that curriculum standards should align college and work expectation. Unfortunately, the inability to meet the demands continue at the forefront. As a result, I chose to approach this research from Problem Based Learning Theory (PBL). PBL focuses on the investigation and resolution of messy, real world problems Curriculum Development (http://www.learning theories.com/problem based learning pbl.html). Comparison data from the K ... We have a Teacher Leadership Council, formally a Curriculum Council, whose job it is to lead department colleagues in the writing, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and assessment. All committees require one administrator (Minnich). In a similar manner, higher education and K through 12 both have procedures in place through DACUM facilitators and Leadership Council members. The level of development differs between institutions due to the level of education and training obtained by those leading and planning invigorating ideas that support change. Is there an articulation between grade levels? Yes, we have vertical collaboration meetings between grade levels on a regular basis. This includes meetings between the same subject areas in other buildings to ensure that the curriculum is aligned from one level to the next (Minnich). • 49. Impact Of Space On The Space Industry Space Industry is a broad term. It includes a huge variety of different sectors and industries. It is not easy to track down an accurate definition of its boundaries. Estimation of the global value of the industry present significant discrepancies. It can be agreed, however, that the Space industry generates important revenues: SIA estimates USD 322.7 billion of global revenues for the industry in 2014, while the Space Foundation estimates USD 330 billion. The space economy has presented a constant and sustained growth over the last 40 years. As we can observe in Figure 1 in the last 40 years space sector revenue s has grown significantly faster than the global GDP. Moreover, the development of many modern widespread technologies have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In broad terms, the literature distinguishes between three different sectors: scientific, military, and commercial. The scientific sector aims to develop new academic and technological knowledge, providing other sectors the capabilities needed for their activities. Universities and research institutes are important scientific and technological actors. The military sector, on the other hand, provides the conditions required to secure national assets. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the sustainability of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the only one specifically designed to be profitable. As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space strategy in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper, but not the only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in isolation. SPACE INDUSTRY S VALUE CHAIN When asked about space activities, most people tend to think about big government and public funded projects such as the International Space Station (ISS), the Voyager program, which is now exploring the boundaries of our solar system, or the Mars Rover, which is studying Mars surface. This is understandable, as such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
