The Reflection Of A Motorcycle Riders Group As An...
On the class of ENGL 1301, during the first month, we focused on discourse communities: which in
fact are a group of people who share same values, beliefs, ideas, interest using same language and
method of communication to achieve a certain goal. The people in discourse communities requires the
certain level of knowledge and expertise in the field and becomes part of the discourse community by
understanding and using logos, ethos, and pathos to discuss, explain and argue their own interest and
knowledge within their own community using the own method of communication. Any people
involved in the certain group can be in discourse communities if they share same ideas and view with
common interest. Motorcycle Riders Group as an discourse community has its importance to readers
because it explains and make more clear what a discourse community is and the ways of getting into
the community. By mastering logos, ethos and pathos I can say that I have successfully entered
Motorcycle riders and fan discourse community by using the knowledge, skills that I have.
Ever experienced the thrill of being on two wheels on asphalt with winds hitting your body at 100mph
or either having only one wheel on the asphalt with another one in the air? This is what riders group
feels like to do. I first got my hands on with motorcycle when I was age 14 but was with small bikes
and was clueless what actually riding on a motorcycle such powerful which could hit 250mph would

The Results Based Budgeting Of Oakland Unified
The Results Based Budgeting of Oakland Unified
Throughout the history of the American public education, lots of problems have emerged but with
some effort from enlightened men and the federal government they were successfully solved.
However, one of those problems that proved to be intractable over the years despite the many
solutions proposed for it was and still is the income achievement gap. Professor Sean R. Reardon, a
Professor of Education and Sociology at Stanford University, showed the inevitable relationship
between parental income and the academic achievement of students. The income achievement gap as
he defined it is ... the academic performance difference due to ... income difference between a child
from a family at the 90th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1965, it was the first government initiative toward a practical solution in attempting to contain this
uprising income achievement gap as they issued the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA). Unsurprisingly, this act gained lots of popularity among education reformers at that time as
its objective was to provide equal education opportunities to all students nationwide whether they are
rich or poor. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide funds to schools at that
time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in distributing those funds. Title I
of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the ESEA that s now called the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part which contained the initiative of providing
funds to eligible schools and the way they would be distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil
rights activist who also served in the U.S. Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in
particular contained a loophole that allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the
funds (McClure). The problem lied in what was called the comparability provision law of Title I
which allowed Title I schools, that uses a traditional budgeting system based on their average teacher
salary, to show a comparable expenditure of their teachers

Advantages Of Call Coverage In Healthcare
Call coverage: In this alignment, hospitals contracts with physicians and specialists for providing on
call coverage to patients in the emergency room, compensation is made to specialists or physicians for
their services. The hospitals made these agreements with specialists and physicians because of
shortage of healthcare workforce in the United States and also increase in flow of patients to
emergency room. In these model payments are made in the form of stipends, fee for service payments
or other kinds of hybrid payments. [10] Clinical co management/service line: In these model hospitals

How Can Plot Machines Uplift A Nation
Can Slot Machines Uplift a Nation? When the subject of Native Americans or Indian reservations is
brought up most people bring casino gambling to mind. Approximately five hundred and sixty tribes
are recognized by the federal government, and only about one third conduct casino style gambling.
(Light and Rand 9) Reservations are sovereign nations, meaning tribes are Dependent on and
subordinate to, only the federal government, not the states. (Light and Rand 36) This has been the

From an moral standpoint the IGRA was created to keep in check the ethics of gambling in casinos but
we find that the IGRA does not create the greatest amount of utility for tribes, but restricts their rights
and gives an unfair advantage to state government. The IGRA is unethical in regards to tribes
operating casinos on reservations. Since the settlement of America, Native Americans have received
the short end of the stick. Settlers continuously encroached upon Native American land, completely
disregarding the fact the Indians were there first. After years of displacing the Indians and fighting
with them, the government allotted reservations for the Indians to call their own. Now that tribes have
been finally given a chance at economic development, many reservations have taken advantage of
casinos to provide a better life for tribal members. Moral issues have been brought up, from
government to non Native Americans. Even tribal members argue the moral issues. People who are
fighting this are fighting it for a variety of reasons. It s just how it would change the whole
community, the flavor. Having a 24 7 bright lights, honky tonk feel, it s just not what people want.
Says Susie Dewberry, a Suislaw tribal member. (Pittenger) One of the great benefits the casinos have
created is employment for many Native Americans.

Huntington s Disease ( Hd ) Is A Neurodegenerative Disease
Huntington s disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects roughly 10 individuals per
100,000 (Nopoulus, 2016). This disorder is normally associated with symptoms including motor
impairment, namely slowed movements and random muscle contractions, as well as depression and
cognitive dysfunction. However, another prominent symptom that has yet to be mentioned until
recently is sleep disturbance and alteration of normal circadian rhythms. It is estimated that 60 90% of
HD patients have sleep issues and that nearly 60% see those issues as being factors in their overall
problems (Goodman et al., 2010). Despite the minimal volume of studies, the overwhelming
proportion of HD patients who are afflicted with circadian dysfunction and ... Show more content on

However, in HD patients metabolic dysfunction is commonplace (Morton, 2013). A study using
transgenic R6/2 mice, which were designed to imitate conditions similar to HD, has shown that the
mice exhibit dysfunction and disconnection of the peripheral clocks from the SCN s control
(Maywood et al., 2010). These mice exhibited liver function that was characterized by loss of
circadian control. The liver plays a crucial role in maintaining metabolic homeostasis, so this could be
a possible explanation to the metabolic dysfunction that is seen so often in HD. If the peripheral
clocks are disoriented from the central rhythms, then this can result in different body systems no
longer working as effectively as when they are in sync. Furthermore, research has also revealed that
circadian function within the SCN is also directly affected by HD. In another study using R6/2 mice, it
was found that the mice night day ratios were abnormal, revealing circadian disruption (Morton et al.,
2005). In addition to their activity patterns, the mice SCN activity were also directly measured using
electrodes and a clamp. After monitoring, it was found that the expression of their clock genes was
severely disrupted. While knowing that circadian rhythms directly within the SCN are altered in
organisms with HD is an essential step to find the most efficient treatment to normalize these
organisms, it does not reveal the way in which Huntington s

Stylistic Analysis Of Deception
Inception: An Analysis of the Stylistic Aspects
The stylistic analysis of this paper will be focusing on the techniques used to indicate the dream
realities and the actual reality in the movie Inception by Christopher Nolan. The analysis will be based
on the mise en scene of the movie, especially camera movement, lighting, as well as sound and
editing. When analysing these techniques into detail of three different scenes, differences and
similarities should be spotted between the realities. By analysing these techniques, a conclusion will
be made on whether or not the ending of the movie is the actual reality, or if it is a dream.
The first scene to be analysed is the first dream the audience experiences lasting from 0:02:48 and
until 0:04:26. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At 2:17:18 the audience sees an extreme close up of Dom s face, the focus mostly on his eyes. His
facial expression is one of disbelief, which is also shown in the following shot, a close up of his face,
the camera moving slightly backwards. The nondiegetic sound of the film s score is sentimental,
evoking emotions. In the following shot Dom s eyes move to look at the members of his team, the
camera following in an eye line match. Jumping forward to the very end of this scene, at 2:19:51, we
see Dom coming home. Seven seconds later he is in the centre of the shot, the camera panning slowly
from right to left. As Dom takes his totem, the spinning top, out of his pocket and spins it on the table,
the camera follows his movement, but before Dom gets to see the spinning top fall, a signifier of
reality, he sees his children and the following shot shows the audience the two children, who are out in
the garden and playing. This shot is very close compared to the fact that Dom is inside the house, and
would not be able to see them so closely. The sentimental music is high in volume before becoming
more slow as Dom s children look up and see their father. The lighting in this shot seems to be natural,
but is a tad too high key for it to be completely realistic. In contrast to the lighting on the children, the
lighting inside the house is rather low key, with a golden glow, much like the lighting in the first
analysed scene. Before the scene and movie end, the camera pans from right to left, removing the
focus from Dom and his children and onto the spinning top, which is still spinning when the final cut

Utilitarianism In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Little Women
By:
Louisa May Alcott
A Victorian literature characteristic shown in Little Women is utilitarianism. This is shown throughout
the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so kind and often tried to do things that make
others happy and don t expect anything in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell
you what we ll do, let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything
for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were sitting by the fire and
when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were. Initially, they didn t get any gifts or
presents for Christmas since their father was away at war and they had to save money so they decided
to use a little of their hard earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the
condition of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for their
mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all give up their own
hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for someone else. Essentially, the four loving
sisters thought of doing something to make someone happy and put themselves aside for a while.
Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social class structure. This is evident
throughout the entire novel because Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy, and Marmee are all quite poor and face
many different issues

Dana Write Up Bella Healthcare India Essay
EMSM TP19 Dana Lin Team is Ready but Say NO to Project TKO After Project Baton, was the Bella

to tackle? I think Bella India team is fully equipped to lead new product development especially for
India market. However, Project TKO is not the right one to tackle. Why is the team ready for India
market? Because there is big market demand and Bella India team has all the knowledge to meet the
market requirement. For market demand, the EKG equipment market in emerging economies were
expected to have 10% growth per annum as both the need and ability to pay for better cardiac care
increase, and India is one of the fast growing markets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means the demand is lesser but the competition is stronger. If Bella India wants to develop a new
product for a new market, I suggest they focus their investment on the product segment that is
growing and competition is smaller. Among the growing product segment, I think 6/12 channel is the
potential segment to develop because its projected growth is the biggest and by 2017, it will be almost
3 times bigger than it is now (2010). And there are only 4 main players and market share is almost
equally spread on 3 of them. This may imply that their products are similar in function and pricing.
With Bella team s innovative design of mobile connectivity which also gives their new product
advantage to compete with these 6/12 channel main market players. What s more, the TKO is planed
to incorporate a digital image and communications (DICOM) is not a right choice, either. Since this is
not critical in the near term, it s not necessary to add this feature at this time. This feature can be
developed as a wave 2 stage or an upgraded version to sell in another time when the market is able to
use and buy. More features add more cost. The challenging of the new product development is not
only time but also cost. Because there are a lot of competitors are working on similar products already,
if Bella India team wants to have first mover advantage, they have to complete production before
anyone else. And take

The Hill By Sir William Drummond Stewart
In 1837, a wealthy Scottish nobleman named Sir William Drummond Stewart took Alfred Jacob
Miller on his outing to the Rockies. Stewart had previously been to the mountains in 1833. But due to
the failing health of his brother, Stewart thought that his journey into the American West might be his
last. So he hired Miller to pictorially record the journey. Hence, Miller became the first artist to cross
the continental divide at south past and thus, the first artist to portray the Rocky Mountains in great
detail. Stewart and Miller started out their journey from St. Louis and went across the plains of
Nebraska along the Platt River. [1] Stewart had hired Miller to paint pictures of their daily lives.
However, Miller being a son of a prosperous farmer and merchant was not accustomed to the
adversities of the journey and he quite often complained to Stewart about the hardships of the trail.
They were travelling 20 30 miles a day on their saddle so it was impossible for Miller to draw while
travelling. So, instead Miller began to sketch images with either pen or pencil during the noon hours
when they would have their large meal, as it required the least amount of time to dry before they
started heading towards their next stop. Despite the hardship of the journey he completed over 200
field sketches in both pencil and watercolor. Through the work of Miller, America got to see its
untouched beautiful wilderness composed of vast mountain ranges and winding rivers. For majority of

The narrator states that it was [Maria] who did away with my generation s virginity (65). Garcia
Marquez uses a hyperbole to portray how crucial Maria Cervantes s contradictory role is in the men s
lives. She embraces her sexuality and is very open. In addition she also taught [the men] much more
than [they] should have learned, but she taught us above all that there s no place in life sadder than an
empty bed (65). She reinforces the idea that sexuality should not be repressed because that would only
bring on loneliness and despair. She recognizes the disorder of love that the townspeople live with
because of repressed sexuality. The narrator describes Santiago Nasar s passionate relationship with
Maria Cervantes. He describes their relationship like a falcon who chases a warlike crane and that the
falcon can only hope for a life of pain (65). The author uses a metaphor to compare Maria to a warlike
crane in order to show her power and grace. The crane is a bird that stands tall and may look elegant
and enticing but because Maria is a warlike crane she is able to stand up and fight for herself while
still maintaining her grace. Another aspect of her independence would be that she stands alone in her
battle against society. Garcia Marquez gives her these headstrong qualities to show how she follows
her own path and goes against the town s beliefs without showing any signs of stopping and to show
that

Inarritu Essay
Alejandro G. Inarritu utilises an extensive array of literary techniques to display the main themes of
greatness, power, and the struggle between reality and madness in his cinematic and literary triumph
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).
Inarritu explores the nature and pursuit of greatness through the character of Riggan using a multitude
of techniques. An intertextual allusion to the story of Icarus is a motif throughout the film, appearing
in the opening shot and subsequent times throughout. Icarus is a character in pursuit of greatness. The
myth eventually ends with his death, aiming ambitiously for the sky and falling from eminence to the
ocean below. Innumerable parallels between Icarus and Riggan foreshadow Riggan s ... Show more

Throughout the film the lines between diegetic and non diegetic are blurred, especially concerning the
use of music. Twice in the film Riggan walks past a drummer seemingly playing the non diegetic
score. This simple act hurls the audience into an anomalous abeyance. Correspondingly, the scene in
which Riggan takes flight and the music swells to its pinnacle disturbs this diegetic/non diegetic
Dichotomy. When Riggan says stop the music , this deliberate ambiguity is designed to perplex the
audience; is Riggan aware of the film being made around him? Or is the seemingly non diegetic music
actually a figment of Riggan s imagination? These are all questions that Inarritu forces the audience to
ponder upon. Inarritu also uses the score as an extension of Riggan s mental state; in moments of
madness or delusion of greatness the unconventional, vigorous drums fall away, revealing a swelling,
beautiful orchestral score. This clearly depicts the importance of these moments to Riggan; he values
the escapism of his perspective and often rejects harsh realities such as his drug addicted daughter,
instead immersing himself in his play, a fictional work. This is a harsh juxtaposition to the
characterisation of Mike Shiner. The two men form a dichotomy that illustrates this theme; Mike s
obsession with method acting, and naturalism is highlighted in the first preview, where Mike publicly
argues with Riggan yelling at the audience, have some self respect... [and] have a real experience .
This tension highlights the internal struggle in Riggan s mind: constant conflict between reality and
madness caused by the alter ego Birdman, and his pursuit of greatness. Therefore, Inarritu uses the
blurring of diegetic and non diegetic, the score, and the dichotomy between Mike and Riggan to
highlight the importance of both reality and

These ideas have been developed in society because of the powerful influence of religious doctrine.
As a consequence, females have been subject to very narrow gender definitions. However, as

as words like fanged and foul are usually associated with animals specifically lions and snakes
meaning that she can cause a lot of harm with her mouth. The idea of foul ness comes from the
witches during act 1 scene 1 when they say fair is foul, and foul is fair. The idea of something bad
being good creates the idea that doing the wrong thing is the right thing. So by the female protagonist
being anti feminine can be seen as doing the right thing, and that they re making a stand for women
everywhere. Which is echoed by Lady Macbeth, as in Act 1 Scene 5 it is deemed that she can also use
her mouth as a weapon, this is scene in the quote chastise with the valour of my tongue . The fact that
she uses her tongue as a weapon completely contrasts with her husband as during the opening scenes
of the play we see that Macbeth s weapon is his brandished steel this shows us how Lady Macbeth

South African Imperialism In Nigeria
Both South Africa and Nigeria were both colonized in the 19th century . Although both places were
separate, and their colonizations occurred at different speeds and at slightly different times the
colonizations of South Africa and Nigeria share many similarities, such as what country colonized
them, and how willing the African places were to accept the new leadership . In South Africa, the
British started by trying to take over the Zulu in the year 1816. Because they were more powerful, and
had more advanced weapons, the British were very successful in their conquests. Dutch farmers,
called Boers, began to slowly settle in South Africa. They were attracted to South Africa because there
was a lot of land on which they could establish farms. The Boers ... Show more content on

In the late 1800s, many valuable resources were discovered in southern Africa. This lead to lots of
people trying to gain control of the important and useful land found there. The Beors were not happy
with the sudden influx of people trying to gain control of their land. They put up a fight against the
invaders of their precious land. In more southern lands, the Zulus began to fight back against the
British who were controlling them. The Zulu king, King Cetshwayo, refused to accept the British rule.
The Zulu fought hard against their oppressors, and almost succeed in their goal to get their land back
from the British, despite their lack of modern weaponry. In 1879, the Zulu lost the Battle of Ulundi,
and important battle against the British. In 1887, the British finally gained complete control of the
Zulu nation. In the northern parts of South Africa, the Boers blamed their problems on the British. The
Boers fight against the British and go to war against them. The war between the Boers and the British
is called the Boer War, or the South African War. This war used many modern military tactics. Both

Support Group That I Had Been At The Same Time
For this assignment I chose to go to a support group that I had been to before. I chose to do this
because I wanted to see what would change or what the differences, were between this time and the
first time I had went to this meeting. This assignment was very interesting and very difficult for me at
the same time. The main reason it was so difficult for me, was I still am not driving too often. So this
setback gave me more hurtles to jump over and through, just so I could get to a meeting. Because of
this I really struggled trying to find a support group that would actually allow me to attended meetings
at the times were people were available to drive me. Then once again it hit me, like before, I finely
asked my friend if her mother who is a nurse could help me out. My friend s mother said yes. She
knew of a caregiver group a caregiver group for cancer and was even willing to drive me to the group.
The only terms were that I would feel out a paper saying I agreed to the conditions of the group. And
the information shard in the meeting at no circumstances was to be talked about outside the group. For
this assignment I attended the Cancer Caregivers Support Group in the clinical center at Froedtert
Hospital. The meeting took place on October 22nd 2016 at night 5:30pm to 7:00pm at night. This
caregiver group was a group of fifteen to twenty people who specifically were planning on becoming
a caregiver for a family member who was battling cancer. The meeting was held in a

Reoccurring Themes In The Miller s Tale
In Chaucer s, The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer uses many aspects of one tale and incorporates it into
another using many reoccurring themes. Many characters go through similar circumstances as
Chaucer uses these themes to help each tale parallel another. For example, the Wife of Bath s Tale and
The Nun s Priests Tale, uses the theme of textual evidence as a basis of reasoning of men to overpower
women. The two tales that parallel each other the most are The Miller s Tale and The Summoner s
Tale. Nicholas and Absolon of the Miller s Tale act immoral in many ways which the Friar in the
Summoner s tale seems to exhibit. Chaucer uses the characteristics and actions of the characters in the
Miller s Tale to create a character that embodies many aspects ... Show more content on

The theme of immoral characters becomes quite disturbing when people who claimed to be devoted to
the Lord are partaking in such dishonorable acts. Dishonorable acts such as their treatment of women
show how they neglect their priesthood and are not truly men of God. The priests within the Miller
and Summoner s Tales disregard their vows of chastity and pursue women in order to fulfill their
desires of sex. Absolon, the incense swinger at the church vows for the love a young married women,
Alison. Absolon is fully aware of Alison s marriage, but is still very persistent in his attempts to try
and woo her. One of his schemes to make Alison think fondly of him involved him sending her, honey
wine, mead and spiced.....and as she [lived] in town, he [proffered] cash (The Millers Tale 88). With
his expensive gifts of food and cash leads readers to believe that he is breaking another vow, poverty.
His lust for this one woman drives him to spend essentially the church s money since priests are
supposed to take vows of poverty and refrain from living gluttonously. His desires for Alison portray
him as a clear contrast to what priests are expected to act like and in a sense, morally corrupt. The
Friar within the Summoner s Tale approaches is women is quite different to that of Absolom. The
Friar, upon meeting Thomas s wife, hugs and kisses her and says, Today I didn t see

Danielle Agoglia s Study Of Jealousy
Something Mr. Naji brought up was that jealousy and paranoia about what your partner is doing.
Those same temptations you may feel are also pressures for them afterall. But miss Danielle Agoglia,
from Elite Daily, offers another perspective: you need to trust your partner. Letting go of all those
fears and concerns and simply realizing that your partner, just like you, is in love and wants to make
this work. Just like the participants in Meitzner and Li wen s study, Agoglia found she began to trust
herself a lot more as she trusted her partner. While these are all anecdotal evidence, I do think it can
lend itself to making one think at the very least. Essentially, as you trust your partner you not only
better the relationship by lessening or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless, trusting your partner not only to do right by you and your relationship but also to help you
when you need it can take a lot of stress off of your shoulders. Learning to really and truly trust your
partner, while easier said than done is essential to a functioning long distance relationship.
There is a difference between trusting support and dependency, however. It is a very important
difference too. As an individual, each partner must come to terms with the distance and be able to fend
for themselves. This may seem at odds with the previous two maintenance methods as it advocates for
more independence from the relationship, but it is important. Unlike a lot of couples you can t live
together and have separate lives and finances. This makes practical support incredibly difficult, so
instead couples emotionally support each other. This is good, and should definitely be encouraged
behavior. Unfortunately, some couples will become emotionally dependent. What this means is that
one partner relies on the other as the source for his or her happiness. In her article on The Huffington
Post, Margaret Paul discusses this issue. I often see couples where one partner is emotionally
dependent

Euthyphro Dialogue Analysis
In the dialogue Euthyphro, Plato introduces the reader to the interlocutor Euthyphro, a dogmatically
religious man who claimed to have great knowledge of the gods. Euthyphro used his understanding of
pious and impious as an excuse to indict his father on murder charges. Socrates was interested in
Euthyphro s unshakable religious convictions but by using the Socratic method the reader slowly
learns that Euthyphro has not truly delved into himself and examined his strong held beliefs. Plato
holds Euthyphro up to the reader as an example and a warning, that even if one believes they are
living a righteous life, if they never stop and look within themselves and self examine their beliefs one

Socrates explained that the gods never explicitly stated what was right and wrong. Even when they
claimed to comment on just acts, they simple defined what they did as just because they believed it
was so. Socrates tried to explain to Euthyphro that discussing what the gods found to be just or
virtuous was a good start on the journey of self discovery but it wasn t the end of it. Euthyphro had to
continue on this journey and look within himself to seek and find the answers for himself. By taking
the time to work on himself internally and seek the answers to these questions and not just rely on
what gods say to be true, he would be on the path to living a life of areté. If Euthyphro did this, he
would no longer be in conflict with the world around him but in harmony with

Getting hurt at work is not a joke therefore, should not be taking lightly. Statistics have shown that
over 200 people a year lose their lives at work in Britain and around 150,000 non fatal injuries are
reported each year. It is not any better in the United States. In 2011, approximately 3 million workers
in private industry and 821,000 workers in state and local government experienced a nonfatal
occupational injury or illness. The causes for the accidents are versatile. Sometimes, the mistake is
that most people think they are exempt from it all and it is less likely to happen to them. Other times,
it may be negligence on someone part or proper safety procedures were not followed. Regardless of
whose fault it is, injuries happened in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, they should seat with both parties to ease the tension that has taking place by identifying
common ground and the points where their opinions differ. Then the company should lay out a plan
that entails the steps to solve each conflict discovered. Each step ought to be authentic and consistent
to avoid misinterpretation and ambiguities. Based on the provided case, managers and employees
conflicts were the main concern. It is identified in the form of communication chaos: for instance,
some employees shed light on the issue for the foreman, but he choose not to respond to their claim.
They should have reported the problem to the store manager, yet there was never an attempt towards
that path. Second, an ethical issue was also found. The foreman s effort to get himself out of hot water
by blaming John (the employee was joking, laughing, goofing around prior to the accident). Moreover,
the manager s only intention was to protect the company (the equipment was safe because the foreman
says so). He failed to remember that he is part of the glue that keeps the company afloat. By siding
with the Harry who was clearly at fault, David opened the door to turmoil. Whenever employees feel

Autonomy And Well-Being Analysis
On the other hand, a person in terminal illness deserves rights. Autonomy and well being are the two
values which the proponents use to support their position. A person in a terminal illness who requests
the euthanasia should depend on her own values and autonomy. A person who wants to stop suffering
and refuse to have access to life prolonging medical treatment should be able to choose for her
personal well being. As Kant s beliefs, a person s well being can only matter if she is of intrinsic value
and so that it is impermissible to violate a person s rational nature for the sake of her well being (
YOUNG, par. 3 ). The only conditions to respect in order to allow the euthanasia possibility is when
the person is not in conditions to make

Physics Of Bowling Essay
Physics Of Bowling
The one thing that interests me is bowling. I have been playing all my life and after a whole semester
and a half of being in Mr. Fetter s class, I realized that everything has physics in it. One night after
going bowling with my girlfriend(s) I wondered why when I hit the first pin, only seven went down
and thus I lost the game. So, I got on the Internet and found a lot of articles and web sites talking
about the physics of bowling. A lot of the web sites were brief descriptions. A guy named Paul Durbin
wrote many articles on physics. One of his articles he discussed was about bowling. He mentioned one
thing we already went over this semester in physics class. But it seems to me that he neglected to

You may let go of the bowling ball at a constant speed, but its velocity is not constant because of the
change in direction every instant. The ball s state of motion is changing. It s accelerating! Now you
can see why it is important to know the difference between speed and velocity, and why acceleration is
defined as the rate of change of velocity, rather than speed. Acceleration is like velocity, its directional.
If you were to change your arms speed or direction, or even both, you change velocity and you
accelerate. Just remember acceleration = change of velocity/time interval.
The one thing that s cool about pool is that wooden alley that s always shiny. The alley is made out of
fine wood and is usually shined up. The alley seems to be the friction that slows a ball down. Even
when a single force is applied to an object, it is usually not the only force affecting the motion. This is
because of friction. Friction is a force that always acts in a direction to oppose motion. When you let
go of the ball one way, the air resistance is coming the opposite direction.
Let go of the bowling ball and you can see it in motion. If an object moves, the by virtue of that
motion it is capable of doing work. It has energy in motion, or kinetic energy. The kinetic energy of an
object depends on the mass of the object as well as its speed.
KE = ½mv².
When you let go of that bowling ball, you do work on it to give it speed to get that nice rotation. The

Summary Of Women In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus is renowned for its bloodshed, the references to dead time and the night, foreshadow
the great loss which saturates this play (2.3. 99). Shakespeare s use of diction, alliteration, and rhyme
expose Tamora s tragic flaw which is venegeance, a catalyst that threatens her morality. Shakespeare
examines the complexity of gender roles that obstruct female liberty. The endurance of a patriarchal
society that promotes prudence over sexual expression. Thus, the metaphor of the wild woman
demonstrates how this society can oppress one s sexuality and how human nature breaks down when
vengeance is rampant.
The construct of the wild woman develops through the symbolic connotations of nature and the forest.
This imagery reflects how revenge perpetuates disorder within a society. For example, the line, A
barren detested vale conveys a sense of emptiness (2.3. 93). Also, the contradicting snake imagery
demonstrates Tamora s decent into evil. For example, The birds chant melody on every bush, the
snake lies rolled in the cheerful sun in contrast to, A thousand fiends, a thousand hissing snakes (2.3
12,13 100). Earlier, the singing birds and sunbathing snakes illustrate the natural order within this
environment. However, the hissing snakes disrupt any positive associations with nature, and her
description of her surroundings exemplifies her changes in consciousness. Therefore, the tone of this
text shifts when evil, i.e. vengeance invades society.

Essay on Hunting in Morally Acceptable
When a wealthy American dentist killed a prized African lion he unintentionally reignited the debate
concerning the morality of hunting. In this essay, I am going to provide an argument for the morality
of hunting. Hunting, when performed with correct moral intentions and in compliance with
regulations, is a morally acceptable act. I will first provide background definitions used in my essay
followed by a formal layout of my argument. Next, I will discuss each premise of my argument
separately and explain how they prove my argument plausible. Lastly, I will consider an objection to
my argument and respond to it accordingly. I must first provide two background definitions regarding

Therefore, hunting, when performed with correct moral intentions and in compliance with regulations,
is a morally acceptable act. My first premise states that an action is permissible if and only if, of those
actions that satisfy certain specified constraints, it has consequences that are sufficiently morally good.
This widely accepted consequentialist viewpoint comes from the philosopher Peter Vallentyne. It is
known as Constrained Act Consequentialism. If an action brings about the best consequences, it is a
moral action. However, sometimes this action can interfere with the rights of other beings. My first
premise is rational because it seeks out the greater moral good without having to worry about
immolating certain rights of others (LaFollette). This is accomplished by stating that the hunting I am
describing must satisfy certain constraints, which, in this case, are game laws. The current laws on this
form hunting include what can and cannot be hunted, how many animals can be hunted, and how they
should be hunted to ensure a quick and less painful death for the animal.
The next premise of my argument alleges that feeding a family and providing a family with clothes,
bedding, or other items for use are both morally good acts because they provide the best overall
consequences. The rationale behind this premise is simple. I do not believe many people would
disagree on the fact that feeding one s family and

Water Cycle And Its Effect On Earth
I don t think that I could explain how important water is for life on earth to survive without first
explaining what water is and how different it is than other substances. Water is unique in that it is the
only natural substance that is found on earth as a liquid, solid and gas. The water cycle of the earth
shows that it is constantly interacting, changing, and moving. The water cycle has five parts which are
evaporation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration and surface run off. This water cycle is critical to
life on earth as it provides potable water that all living organisms need. Water freezes at 32 degrees
and boils at 212 degrees. Water s freezing and boiling points are the baseline with which temperature
is measured on the Celsius scale. Water is lighter as a solid than a liquid. When water freezes it
expands adding about 9% by volume. Retrieved from http://www.funology.com/facts about weather
and nature/ (20141114) Fresh water has a maximum density at around 4° Celsius. Water is the only
substance on this planet where the maximum density of its mass does not occur when it becomes a
solid. Water is unusual in that in its solid form, ice, it is less dense than the liquid form. This is why
ice floats and this fact is what allows life to exist in lakes and rivers during the winter months. The
water in the seas and oceans contains a significant amount of salt that this lowers the freezing point of
the water and no ice forms from the sea or ocean. The ice found in

  • 2. The Reflection Of A Motorcycle Riders Group As An... On the class of ENGL 1301, during the first month, we focused on discourse communities: which in fact are a group of people who share same values, beliefs, ideas, interest using same language and method of communication to achieve a certain goal. The people in discourse communities requires the certain level of knowledge and expertise in the field and becomes part of the discourse community by understanding and using logos, ethos, and pathos to discuss, explain and argue their own interest and knowledge within their own community using the own method of communication. Any people involved in the certain group can be in discourse communities if they share same ideas and view with common interest. Motorcycle Riders Group as an discourse community has its importance to readers because it explains and make more clear what a discourse community is and the ways of getting into the community. By mastering logos, ethos and pathos I can say that I have successfully entered Motorcycle riders and fan discourse community by using the knowledge, skills that I have. Ever experienced the thrill of being on two wheels on asphalt with winds hitting your body at 100mph or either having only one wheel on the asphalt with another one in the air? This is what riders group feels like to do. I first got my hands on with motorcycle when I was age 14 but was with small bikes and was clueless what actually riding on a motorcycle such powerful which could hit 250mph would feel like or ... • 3. The Results Based Budgeting Of Oakland Unified The Results Based Budgeting of Oakland Unified Throughout the history of the American public education, lots of problems have emerged but with some effort from enlightened men and the federal government they were successfully solved. However, one of those problems that proved to be intractable over the years despite the many solutions proposed for it was and still is the income achievement gap. Professor Sean R. Reardon, a Professor of Education and Sociology at Stanford University, showed the inevitable relationship between parental income and the academic achievement of students. The income achievement gap as he defined it is ... the academic performance difference due to ... income difference between a child from a family at the 90th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1965, it was the first government initiative toward a practical solution in attempting to contain this uprising income achievement gap as they issued the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Unsurprisingly, this act gained lots of popularity among education reformers at that time as its objective was to provide equal education opportunities to all students nationwide whether they are rich or poor. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide funds to schools at that time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in distributing those funds. Title I of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the ESEA that s now called the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part which contained the initiative of providing funds to eligible schools and the way they would be distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil rights activist who also served in the U.S. Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in particular contained a loophole that allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the funds (McClure). The problem lied in what was called the comparability provision law of Title I which allowed Title I schools, that uses a traditional budgeting system based on their average teacher salary, to show a comparable expenditure of their teachers ... From an moral standpoint the IGRA was created to keep in check the ethics of gambling in casinos but we find that the IGRA does not create the greatest amount of utility for tribes, but restricts their rights and gives an unfair advantage to state government. The IGRA is unethical in regards to tribes operating casinos on reservations. Since the settlement of America, Native Americans have received the short end of the stick. Settlers continuously encroached upon Native American land, completely disregarding the fact the Indians were there first. After years of displacing the Indians and fighting with them, the government allotted reservations for the Indians to call their own. Now that tribes have been finally given a chance at economic development, many reservations have taken advantage of casinos to provide a better life for tribal members. Moral issues have been brought up, from government to non Native Americans. Even tribal members argue the moral issues. People who are fighting this are fighting it for a variety of reasons. It s just how it would change the whole community, the flavor. Having a 24 7 bright lights, honky tonk feel, it s just not what people want. Says Susie Dewberry, a Suislaw tribal member. • 7. Huntington s Disease ( Hd ) Is A Neurodegenerative Disease Huntington s disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects roughly 10 individuals per 100,000 (Nopoulus, 2016). This disorder is normally associated with symptoms including motor impairment, namely slowed movements and random muscle contractions, as well as depression and cognitive dysfunction. However, another prominent symptom that has yet to be mentioned until recently is sleep disturbance and alteration of normal circadian rhythms. It is estimated that 60 90% of HD patients have sleep issues and that nearly 60% see those issues as being factors in their overall problems (Goodman et al., 2010). Despite the minimal volume of studies, the overwhelming proportion of HD patients who are afflicted with circadian dysfunction and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in HD patients metabolic dysfunction is commonplace (Morton, 2013). A study using transgenic R6/2 mice, which were designed to imitate conditions similar to HD, has shown that the mice exhibit dysfunction and disconnection of the peripheral clocks from the SCN s control (Maywood et al., 2010). These mice exhibited liver function that was characterized by loss of circadian control. The liver plays a crucial role in maintaining metabolic homeostasis, so this could be a possible explanation to the metabolic dysfunction that is seen so often in HD. If the peripheral clocks are disoriented from the central rhythms, then this can result in different body systems no longer working as effectively as when they are in sync. Furthermore, research has also revealed that circadian function within the SCN is also directly affected by HD. In another study using R6/2 mice, it was found that the mice night day ratios were abnormal, revealing circadian disruption (Morton et al., 2005). In addition to their activity patterns, the mice SCN activity were also directly measured using electrodes and a clamp. After monitoring, it was found that the expression of their clock genes was severely disrupted. While knowing that circadian rhythms directly within the SCN are altered in organisms with HD is an essential step to find the most efficient treatment to normalize these organisms, it does not reveal the way in which Huntington s ... • 8. Stylistic Analysis Of Deception Inception: An Analysis of the Stylistic Aspects The stylistic analysis of this paper will be focusing on the techniques used to indicate the dream realities and the actual reality in the movie Inception by Christopher Nolan. The analysis will be based on the mise en scene of the movie, especially camera movement, lighting, as well as sound and editing. When analysing these techniques into detail of three different scenes, differences and similarities should be spotted between the realities. By analysing these techniques, a conclusion will be made on whether or not the ending of the movie is the actual reality, or if it is a dream. The first scene to be analysed is the first dream the audience experiences lasting from 0:02:48 and until 0:04:26. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At 2:17:18 the audience sees an extreme close up of Dom s face, the focus mostly on his eyes. His facial expression is one of disbelief, which is also shown in the following shot, a close up of his face, the camera moving slightly backwards. The nondiegetic sound of the film s score is sentimental, evoking emotions. In the following shot Dom s eyes move to look at the members of his team, the camera following in an eye line match. Jumping forward to the very end of this scene, at 2:19:51, we see Dom coming home. Seven seconds later he is in the centre of the shot, the camera panning slowly from right to left. As Dom takes his totem, the spinning top, out of his pocket and spins it on the table, the camera follows his movement, but before Dom gets to see the spinning top fall, a signifier of reality, he sees his children and the following shot shows the audience the two children, who are out in the garden and playing. This shot is very close compared to the fact that Dom is inside the house, and would not be able to see them so closely. The sentimental music is high in volume before becoming more slow as Dom s children look up and see their father. The lighting in this shot seems to be natural, but is a tad too high key for it to be completely realistic. In contrast to the lighting on the children, the lighting inside the house is rather low key, with a golden glow, much like the lighting in the first analysed scene. Before the scene and movie end, the camera pans from right to left, removing the focus from Dom and his children and onto the spinning top, which is still spinning when the final cut is ... • 11. Utilitarianism In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott Little Women By: Louisa May Alcott A Victorian literature characteristic shown in Little Women is utilitarianism. This is shown throughout the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so kind and often tried to do things that make others happy and don t expect anything in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell you what we ll do, let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were sitting by the fire and when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were. Initially, they didn t get any gifts or presents for Christmas since their father was away at war and they had to save money so they decided to use a little of their hard earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the condition of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for their mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all give up their own hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for someone else. Essentially, the four loving sisters thought of doing something to make someone happy and put themselves aside for a while. Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social class structure. Was Project TKO the right one to tackle? I think Bella India team is fully equipped to lead new product development especially for India market. However, Project TKO is not the right one to tackle. Why is the team ready for India market? Because there is big market demand and Bella India team has all the knowledge to meet the market requirement. If Bella India wants to develop a new product for a new market, I suggest they focus their investment on the product segment that is growing and competition is smaller. Among the growing product segment, I think 6/12 channel is the potential segment to develop because its projected growth is the biggest and by 2017, it will be almost 3 times bigger than it is now (2010). And there are only 4 main players and market share is almost equally spread on 3 of them. This may imply that their products are similar in function and pricing. With Bella team s innovative design of mobile connectivity which also gives their new product advantage to compete with these 6/12 channel main market players. Since this is not critical in the near term, it s not necessary to add this feature at this time. This feature can be developed as a wave 2 stage or an upgraded version to sell in another time when the market is able to use and buy. More features add more cost. • 14. The Hill By Sir William Drummond Stewart In 1837, a wealthy Scottish nobleman named Sir William Drummond Stewart took Alfred Jacob Miller on his outing to the Rockies. Stewart had previously been to the mountains in 1833. But due to the failing health of his brother, Stewart thought that his journey into the American West might be his last. So he hired Miller to pictorially record the journey. Hence, Miller became the first artist to cross the continental divide at south past and thus, the first artist to portray the Rocky Mountains in great detail. Stewart and Miller started out their journey from St. Louis and went across the plains of Nebraska along the Platt River. [1] Stewart had hired Miller to paint pictures of their daily lives. However, Miller being a son of a prosperous farmer and merchant was not accustomed to the adversities of the journey and he quite often complained to Stewart about the hardships of the trail. They were travelling 20 30 miles a day on their saddle so it was impossible for Miller to draw while travelling. So, instead Miller began to sketch images with either pen or pencil during the noon hours when they would have their large meal, as it required the least amount of time to dry before they started heading towards their next stop. Despite the hardship of the journey he completed over 200 field sketches in both pencil and watercolor. The narrator states that it was [Maria] who did away with my generation s virginity (65). Garcia Marquez uses a hyperbole to portray how crucial Maria Cervantes s contradictory role is in the men s lives. She embraces her sexuality and is very open. In addition she also taught [the men] much more than [they] should have learned, but she taught us above all that there s no place in life sadder than an empty bed (65). She reinforces the idea that sexuality should not be repressed because that would only bring on loneliness and despair. She recognizes the disorder of love that the townspeople live with because of repressed sexuality. The narrator describes Santiago Nasar s passionate relationship with Maria Cervantes. He describes their relationship like a falcon who chases a warlike crane and that the falcon can only hope for a life of pain (65). The author uses a metaphor to compare Maria to a warlike crane in order to show her power and grace. The crane is a bird that stands tall and may look elegant and enticing but because Maria is a warlike crane she is able to stand up and fight for herself while still maintaining her grace. Another aspect of her independence would be that she stands alone in her battle against society. Inarritu utilises an extensive array of literary techniques to display the main themes of greatness, power, and the struggle between reality and madness in his cinematic and literary triumph Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Inarritu explores the nature and pursuit of greatness through the character of Riggan using a multitude of techniques. An intertextual allusion to the story of Icarus is a motif throughout the film, appearing in the opening shot and subsequent times throughout. Icarus is a character in pursuit of greatness. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the film the lines between diegetic and non diegetic are blurred, especially concerning the use of music. Twice in the film Riggan walks past a drummer seemingly playing the non diegetic score. This simple act hurls the audience into an anomalous abeyance. Correspondingly, the scene in which Riggan takes flight and the music swells to its pinnacle disturbs this diegetic/non diegetic Dichotomy. When Riggan says stop the music , this deliberate ambiguity is designed to perplex the audience; is Riggan aware of the film being made around him? Or is the seemingly non diegetic music actually a figment of Riggan s imagination? These are all questions that Inarritu forces the audience to ponder upon. Inarritu also uses the score as an extension of Riggan s mental state; in moments of madness or delusion of greatness the unconventional, vigorous drums fall away, revealing a swelling, beautiful orchestral score. This clearly depicts the importance of these moments to Riggan; he values the escapism of his perspective and often rejects harsh realities such as his drug addicted daughter, instead immersing himself in his play, a fictional work. This is a harsh juxtaposition to the characterisation of Mike Shiner. The two men form a dichotomy that illustrates this theme; Mike s obsession with method acting, and naturalism is highlighted in the first preview, where Mike publicly argues with Riggan yelling at the audience, have some self respect... [and] have a real experience . This tension highlights the internal struggle in Riggan s mind: constant conflict between reality and madness caused by the alter ego Birdman, and his pursuit of greatness. Therefore, Inarritu uses the blurring of diegetic and non diegetic, the score, and the dichotomy between Mike and Riggan to highlight the importance of both reality and ... Shakespeare s use of diction, alliteration, and rhyme expose Tamora s tragic flaw which is venegeance, a catalyst that threatens her morality. Shakespeare examines the complexity of gender roles that obstruct female liberty. The endurance of a patriarchal society that promotes prudence over sexual expression. Thus, the metaphor of the wild woman demonstrates how this society can oppress one s sexuality and how human nature breaks down when vengeance is rampant. The construct of the wild woman develops through the symbolic connotations of nature and the forest. This imagery reflects how revenge perpetuates disorder within a society. For example, the line, A barren detested vale conveys a sense of emptiness (2.3. 93). Also, the contradicting snake imagery demonstrates Tamora s decent into evil. For example, The birds chant melody on every bush, the snake lies rolled in the cheerful sun in contrast to, A thousand fiends, a thousand hissing snakes (2.3 12,13 100). Earlier, the singing birds and sunbathing snakes illustrate the natural order within this environment. However, the hissing snakes disrupt any positive associations with nature, and her description of her surroundings exemplifies her changes in consciousness. Therefore, the tone of this text shifts when evil, i.e. vengeance invades society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Essay on Hunting in Morally Acceptable When a wealthy American dentist killed a prized African lion he unintentionally reignited the debate concerning the morality of hunting. In this essay, I am going to provide an argument for the morality of hunting. Hunting, when performed with correct moral intentions and in compliance with regulations, is a morally acceptable act. I will first provide background definitions used in my essay followed by a formal layout of my argument. Next, I will discuss each premise of my argument separately and explain how they prove my argument plausible. Lastly, I will consider an objection to my argument and respond to it accordingly. I must first provide two background definitions regarding my essay to ensure a common viewpoint between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, hunting, when performed with correct moral intentions and in compliance with regulations, is a morally acceptable act. My first premise states that an action is permissible if and only if, of those actions that satisfy certain specified constraints, it has consequences that are sufficiently morally good. This widely accepted consequentialist viewpoint comes from the philosopher Peter Vallentyne. It is known as Constrained Act Consequentialism. If an action brings about the best consequences, it is a moral action. However, sometimes this action can interfere with the rights of other beings. My first premise is rational because it seeks out the greater moral good without having to worry about immolating certain rights of others (LaFollette). This is accomplished by stating that the hunting I am describing must satisfy certain constraints, which, in this case, are game laws. The current laws on this form hunting include what can and cannot be hunted, how many animals can be hunted, and how they should be hunted to ensure a quick and less painful death for the animal. The next premise of my argument alleges that feeding a family and providing a family with clothes, bedding, or other items for use are both morally good acts because they provide the best overall consequences. The rationale behind this premise is simple. I do not believe many people would disagree on the fact that feeding one s family and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Water Cycle And Its Effect On Earth I don t think that I could explain how important water is for life on earth to survive without first explaining what water is and how different it is than other substances. Water is unique in that it is the only natural substance that is found on earth as a liquid, solid and gas. The water cycle of the earth shows that it is constantly interacting, changing, and moving. The water cycle has five parts which are evaporation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration and surface run off. This water cycle is critical to life on earth as it provides potable water that all living organisms need. Water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees. Water s freezing and boiling points are the baseline with which temperature is measured on the Celsius scale. Water is lighter as a solid than a liquid. When water freezes it expands adding about 9% by volume. Retrieved from http://www.funology.com/facts about weather and nature/ (20141114) Fresh water has a maximum density at around 4° Celsius. Water is the only substance on this planet where the maximum density of its mass does not occur when it becomes a solid. Water is unusual in that in its solid form, ice, it is less dense than the liquid form. This is why ice floats and this fact is what allows life to exist in lakes and rivers during the winter months. The water in the seas and oceans contains a significant amount of salt that this lowers the freezing point of the water and no ice forms from the sea or ocean. The ice found in ...
