Military Apprenticeship Paper
United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP)
Veteran s today face many challenges as they seek civilian jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor
Statistics 2014 report more than 190,000 of the 2.8 million Gulf War II Veterans cannot find work,
USMAP could help resolve this issue (Watson, 2014). Senior Enlisted Leaders need to understand the
advantages USMAP in order to provide transitioning service members from active duty to civilian life.
This paper will provide the background information, discussion, and recommendation for the
increased use of USMAP.
Background Information
Veteran unemployment is an ever increasing issue for service members departing from active duty.
USMAP established as a formal military training program in 1999 through the consolidation of the
U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Naval apprenticeship programs, and the U.S. Coast Guard apprenticeship
programs in 2007, the program supplies service members with certification as Journey Workers per
standards of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in specific occupational fields. USMAP could
seriously assist in reducing the number of unemployed veterans. With the background information
provided, the discussion will provide further information.

Currently there are nearly 64,000 active apprentices enrolled. Service members are able to choose the
trade they pursue as long as it relates to their military occupation. Upon completion of the program,
participants receive a nationally recognized Completion Certificate to help attract employers when a
service member returns to the civilian workforce (Aleshire, 2012). A current trend in USMAP shows
an increase in personnel registering in the program, however due to current deployments and
schedules many members are not completing for the following reasons (Shatkin ,

Transgender People Face Harassment And Discrimination
In 2015, at least 21 transgender people have been victims of fatal violence in the
United States, more killings of transgender people than any other year on record. More transgender
people were killed in the first six months of this year than in all of 2014.
While we don t know many details about these victims experiences, research shows that transgender
people face harassment and discrimination in numerous contexts throughout their lives. We know that
the chances of facing discrimination, harassment and violence increase exponentially for transgender
women of color, who also face racism and sexism. For many transgender women of color, the threat of
violence is constant, and there are few if any places they feel safe. Transgender people must be
supported because they are human beings who have many talents that will support and maintain
society.!
! When we think of ourselves as male or female, it s called gender identity,
Everyone has a gender identity. Most people s gender identity matches their anatomy.
But those who are transgender feel different from their physical appearances. Society today looks
upon transgender as an Identity disorder. The word transgender doesn t only mean that a person
identifies with the opposite gender. It also can be used by people who don t feel like they re either
completely male or completely female.!

Gang Violence And Social Media
Protect Your Children : 14 Year Old Girls Shot, Killed By Three Teen Boys After Agreeing To Meet

person who lived in Chicago that knew about different sites that gang members used to promote gang
violence. Gang members made threats, called out rival gangs, promoted their territory, and recruit
gang members. In effect of that, it led to stomp outs; which are,to beat someone, or rival enemy up
with feet so bad to the point they become unconscious or dead; shootings, and death. It s scary what

Snitch, A teen was taken into custody after bragging about a boozed up hit and run on Facebook. She
also has many other stories like, there was a man in India that was recently arrested for trying to sell
his grandson on Facebook, a woman in Oklahoma was arrested for trying to sell her children using
social media and a British man stole $130,000 worth of jewelry later going to the U.K. and posted
pictures of his trip on Facebook. According to Kate Knibbs, Connected Cops, a website that focuses
on how police use social media, made an infographic using BrightEvent s data on how police use
Twitter. Social media is the biggest crime source. Posting your crimes is an easy way to get arrested.
Teens see these people posting comments about the crimes they committed and it influences them.
This is why social media can be a very dangerous place for teens. This all shows that a lot of people
are using social media for the wrong reasons and why you should limit your child s Networking time.
Now, I ve shown you that media violence causes aggression in children, gangs are using it to promote
themselves and announce their next moves and teens are posting their crimes online and getting
caught easily; I hope you can be more careful and aware of your surroundings. This is important
because, this could impact your future or your children s future. Parents, always warn your children

The Value of a Jury System
The Value of a Jury System
The Founders of our nation understood that no idea was more central to our Bill of Rights indeed, to
government of the people, by the people, and for the people than the citizen jury. It was cherished not
only as a bulwark against tyranny but also as an essential means of educating Americans in the habits
and duties of citizenship. By enacting the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Amendments to the Constitution,
the Framers sought to install the right to trial by jury as a cornerstone of a free society.
The Framers of the Constitution felt that juries because they were composed of ordinary citizens and
because they owed no financial allegiance to the government were indispensable to thwarting the ...

Tocqueville keenly understood these linkages: The jury system as understood in America seems to me
to be as direct and extreme a consequence of the . . . sovereignty of the people as universal suffrage.
They are both equally powerful means of making the majority prevail. The jury is above all a political
institution [and] should be made to harmonize with the other laws establishing the sovereignty . For
society to be governed in a settled and uniform manner, it is essential that the jury lists should expand
or shrink with the lists of voters .
[In general] in America all citizens who are electors have the right to be jurors.
We have come to think of voting as the quintessential act of democratic participation. Historically, the
role of the people in serving on juries was often likened to the role of voters selecting legislative
bodies, and even to the role of legislators themselves. Indeed, the jury s place in the judicial
framework was closely related to the idea of bicameralism: Just as the legislature comprised two equal
branches, an upper and a lower, juries and judges constituted the lower and upper branches,
respectively, of the judicial department.
The Supreme Court has reinforced the linkage of jury service and voting as part of a package of
political rights. For example, in a 1991 case challenging race based exclusions in jury selection,
Justice Anthony Kennedy observed in his majority opinion that with the

Essay On Machine Scheduling
Description Of Machine Scheduling
1 1 Definition Of The Scheduling Problem Scheduling is the process of assigning limited resources to
a set of jobs over a period of time. The resources may be machine in a workshop, runways at an
airport and crews at a construction site, as well as processing units in a computing environment. The
jobs may be operation in the production process, take offs and landing at an airport, stages in a
construction project, executions of computer programs[30]. The goal of scheduling is to assign
resources to the jobs such that one or more objective are optimized. Scheduling becomes an important
concern when resources are limited and need to be utilized to complete many competing jobs
efficiently. Many real world scheduling problem are multi objective by nature. Traditionally, the most
common approach has been to combine the multiple objective into a single scalar value by using
weighted aggregating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of such a dimension is the number of the available machine and the way how these
machines are organized. Then one machine sequencing problem is the simplest one: all jobs have to be
processed on single machine and no two jobs can be processed simultaneously. There are four classes
of job shop scheduling problems [30]
1.2.1 Single Machine Scheduling
The single machine scheduling problem involves scheduling a set of jobs to a single resource. This is
accomplished by determining a sequence that includes each job, and it assigns the jobs to its source.
Each job can give a priority, ready time, processing time, and due date. The value of the performance
measure can be computed on the base of this information and the sequence of jobs. This problem
grows in complicity at an exponential rate as the number of jobs to be scheduling

Difference Between Chines For M-Form Organization
M form refers to the unspecialization of subnational governments. It follows a territorial principle that
regions are assigned to be responsible for similar task. For instance, province A is responsible for
agricultural and steel ministry, which is same for the other provinces such as B and C. They can be
seen as substitute for each other because they produce competitive goods. The administrative
coordination is decentralized in M form, meaning that planning in individual level is important. As
these regions need to make production decisions for their ministries, the autonomy of them is quite
high, and they have the right to control and allocate recourses within their jurisdiction. These features
can in fact be linked to the RDA system. In Maskin, Qian and Xu s research, ... Show more content on

So, any lagging behind only implies the low productivity of the regional official. With similar
information structure, regional officials have the incentive to outperform the other rivalries. Regional
competition can already serve as incentive scheme for local officials.
For U form organizations, as regions are different from each other, they react differently towards
industrial shocks. So, this provides an excuse for laggard that it is due to the differentiation regional
conditions. With completely different information structures, there is no incentive for local officials to
work hard under the U form.
Seeing how M form and U form organizations can affect information structures, as a result
determining incentives of local officials, the Maskin, Qian and Xu model can be used to prove it.
Firstly, the model states that there are 2 types of incentives the absolute performance incentive and the
relative performance incentive. The absolute performance incentive links the officials salary with his
outputs, while the relative one links his salary to others output negatively,

In Sherwood Anderson s three short stories The Book of the Grotesques , Hands and The Teacher we
confront the beauty and difficulty in existing amongst multiple beautiful, harsh truths in a world where
so many choose and push only one. These stories in succession reminded me of Mark Edmundson
paraphrasing William Carlos Williams: People die miserably every day for lack of what is found in
despised poems (1). But what Anderson brings us is another version of a small, poetic, dangerous
layering of truths. Adolf Myers, Kate Swift and their students live in a world of small, lowercase t
truths, where affection given and received is not automatically perverse. Their ruin comes from the
fact that they are denied permission to have this affection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

acknowledge much less admit. He would tell us that nothing heals and nothing scars like human
connection, physical or otherwise. He would tell us that even the idea of affection gone wrong is
enough to beat a successful school master into the dirt of his own playground. He would give us these
truths, and tell us that living required us to be able to juggle them all, simultaneously. He would tell us

The Human Right Violations at Abu Ghraib
In 1949, the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War was created to prohibit
immoral, cruel and degrading punishment toward prisoners during wartime. The United States ratified
this covenant and became a member of the Geneva Conventions. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, a
series of human abuses occurred from October through December of 2003 where American military
personnel have conducted acts of brutality and immoral behavior toward Iraqi detainees at the Abu

Abu Ghraib and the Root Causes of Abuse
When President Bush declared the War on Terror after the incident of September 11, 2001, he was
declaring a new kind of war on a different kind of enemy. The al Qaeda terrorist group who were
responsible for the destruction of World Trade Center is organized differently than any enemy that the
U.S. has faced before. Since the terrorists were determined to target large numbers of American
civilians, the Bush administration issued a memorandum which declared the Geneva Conventions
cannot apply to unconventional combatants such as al Qaeda, it states I accept the legal conclusion of
the Department of Justice and determine that none of the provisions of Geneva apply to our conflict
with al Qaeda in Afghanistan or elsewhere through the world because; among other reasons al Qaeda
is not a High Contracting Party to Geneva. (Bush 2002)
In 2002, the Office of Legal Counsel responded to the President s request of exploring the question
whether American officials have the right to use torture against suspected terrorists. Assistant Attorney
General Jay S. Bybee of the Office of Legal Counsel not only legalized the use of torture for U.S.
officials but also defined torture in the narrowest way. He defines torture as inflicting physical pain, or

Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implants
Over 360 million people or about five percent of the world population have disabling hearing loss
(Deafness). Disabling hearing loss refers to hearing loss greater than 40 decibels for adults and a

It is not known how many women actually participated in battle; however, the number seems to be

insisted that she wear a dress. Some say that Amy Clark may have worn lieutenant s bars on her

Samuel Kramer s Argument That The Ancient Civilization Of...
Samuel Kramer s argument that the ancient civilization of Sumer and the modern day world are
fundamentally analogous (p. 250) is supported heavily throughout his literary work History Begins at
Sumer, and has evidenced this from the social perspective, as well as from an institutional one. The
first social comparison Kramer mentions is that of Juvenile Delinquency. Starting from page 14,
Kramer describes a fathers point of view about this social disease and describe that his child is one of
few who, rather than attend school, meet at the street corner and loiter. He continues, with the father
expressing his anger. I, night and day am tortured because you. Night and Day you waste in pleasures
(p. 17) is a perfect example of the parent s emotions, and can be related to the modern household, for
both the ancient parents and those of today focus on making sure their children rise to economic
success. In Sumer, the father wishes his son to be like him, a scribe, and does not understand why the
son doesn t work towards that goal (p. 15). This contrasts with the modern family, where parents want
children to, not only supplant them, but ascend to a higher economic position. Nevertheless, in today s
world and that of the past, juveniles forming like minded gangs prevails, and is but one example of
comparison. Secondly, best described on page 11 of History Begins at Sumer, apple polishing was yet
another example used within Kramer s argument. In 2016, many see the only way to

achieving success in the company s performance. In general, there are many forms of transformation
processes, and each has particular facility layout. What is more, there are also hybrid combinations of
them so the organization can choose the one that best fits its needs and potential.
Speaking of the basic forms of transformation systems, there are five of them including job shop,
continuous process, cellular production, flow shop, and project (Meredith Shafer, 2013). Job shops are
industries that offer a wide range of products and services. They can achieve diversity in possible
outputs using departments functionally specializing in one or other good. The specialty of this
transformation system is that the departments comprise of identical equipment or involve people with
nearly the same set of skills, and the process is carried out on a non stop basis. It also has a peculiar
layout that is based on a historically stable output so that it is rarely changed.
The second type of transformation system is continuous process. Such industries use a set of materials
and equipment and a sequence of processes to produce a final output. Facility layout of this
transformation system is usually a set of needed equipment such as assembly lines, tanks, pipes, etc.,
and low skilled employees

Recognizing the Advancements in Animation
GCC s animation department consists of about nine classes each term, which are taught by
experienced animators. Technology keeps advancing, and 3D is being widely used in the film industry.
Yina Chang is one of the talented professors in the animation department. She teaches Art 233
(Character set up) and Art 235 (character animation). In her class, before they animate on the
computer, they sketch it out on a story board to get their ideas flowing. Then, they begin their
animation process.
I teach hands on skill that prepare my students for the animation industry Chang said.
The main software they use is Maya, an animation program used internationally. The program
contains modeling, texture, and a lighting simulation, and there is a generator to process images.
Maya is one of the best animation packages Chang said.
Chang spent years working professionally in the animation industry. She has participated in several
big budget productions throughout her successful career including Apollo 13 (Gene Kranz 1995), Star
Wars (George Lucas 2002) and Frozen (Chirs buck 2013). She was the technical director for most of
the Yoda shots in Star Wars Episode II . This was the first production to introduce computer generated
images. Before CGI was used, yoda had limited movement. CGI gives the animated characters the
ability to fight and twist around while brandishing their light sabers.

The Environmental Influence Of Alfred Hitchcock s Movie...
Throughout the course of history, films have been greatly influenced by the environment in which
they were made. Two examples of movies that were impacted due to the surrounding factors are
Alfred Hitchcock s The 39 Steps (1935) and Guy Hamilton s Goldfinger (1964). During the time that
The 39 Steps was being made, Britain s movie industry was mainly focused on documentaries,
historical dramas, and suspense. After the stock market crash of 1929 in America, Hollywood was still
working therefore Britain had to compete. They had formed the British International Pictures (BIP)
studio which was ultimately as important to Britain as UFA was to the U.S. Furthermore, Britain was
still in a hole after World War 1 and were still paying debts, so

Use Of Parody In Dr Strangelove
To show satire in Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, director
Stanley Kubrick uses parody, exaggeration, and incongruity. One effective method Kubrick uses is
parody. In the movie, Kubrick plays on actors and typical stereotypes. Major Kong, as played by
Louis Burton Lindley, Jr. or Slim Pickens, is a play on the American Cowboy. When Major Kong goes
down to the bombs to open the doors he gets dropped with the bomb. As he is seen leaving the plane,
Major Kong rides the bomb as if it were a bull in a rodeo. From Major Kong s heavy accent to his
cowboy, Major Kong is the stereotypical American Cowboy. Kubrick also plays on the Nazi scientist
who were sought after in WWII. Dr. Strangelove is a play on Werhner von Braun, a Nazi scientist.
While in the war room, Dr. Strangelove suggests a backup plan for if the doomsday device was fired.
During his speech, his hand keeps doing a Nazi salute as he struggles to suppress it. This is a parody
because during this time the US looked passed their Nazi ways due to their intelligence needed for the
space program. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While naming the contents of the survival kit, Major Kong lists a gun, ammo, rations, antibiotics,

the president if they fired all their missiles they would prevail and suffer only modest and acceptable
casualties. The general later describes these casualties as only ten to twenty million people killed. If

Internal Medicine Admission Essay Sample
There are moments in life that hold you to a higher standard. Amid the practiced perfection with
which we navigate the majority of tasks, there are times that demand and draw on abilities that we
were yet to realize. It is in both music and medicine that I have discovered this challenge. My love for
internal medicine began in its consistent need for adaptability. Just as the change in one note can alter
the tone of a musical piece, similarly, one pertinent piece of information can shift the diagnosis
entirely and it is through the interpretation of these subtle clues that my interest in the diagnostic
process arose.
My preparation for any musical event always begins with emulation. I find myself listening repeatedly

extends beyond scaling an academic summit.
My interactions with the medical team, ancillary staff, and my patients have made me realize that I
have a disposition suited to a career in the field of Internal Medicine. Having moved 10 times by the
time I was in the 10th grade and living in India, the United Kingdom, and Singapore, I am confident
of my ability to adapt cross culturally in new and challenging environments.
In my brief experience, I have found that internal medicine is a division where the onus of moving
forward, finding the right path and pushing frontiers rests largely on you. The field requires a warm,
approachable nature, a thoughtful demeanor and an even temperament, qualities which I believe I
have. I seek to become a skillful physician and a committed educator. I aspire to surprise myself and

Short Fiction Response Paper How much can a story differ if someone else tells it? Moreover, just
how much can we get out of a story based on narrative voice alone? After reading A Pair of Tickets by
Amy Tan and Cathedral by Raymond Carver, it is clear that narrative viewpoint truly drives the
emotions and understanding a reader experiences while reading. Both A Pair of Tickets and Cathedral
are told from a first person viewpoint, and that dictates the tone and message the story sends to
readers. A Pair of Tickets is a story about a middle aged woman who is embarking on her first trip to
China. The 36 year old woman named Jing Mei never really embraced the idea of being Chinese. She
notes that in middle school all of her friends talked about how they were more Chinese than she was.
The bulk of the story takes place while Jing Mei is en route to China, and along the way her father
who is accompanying her on the trip tells her several stories about her recently deceased Chinese
mother. As the story progresses, Jing Mei begins to embrace her Chinese heritage, and realizes that
although she was raised with an American way of thinking, it does not truly define who she is or has o
be. The emotion the narrator in A Pair of Tickets had was brought forward instantly in the beginning
of the story. In the second line alone, the narrator (Jing Mei) says that she can feel the skin on her

Trojan Horse Research Paper
An Essay Over The Trojan Horse and War In the early ages of Greek mythology the Trojan War was
battled between the Greeks, and the guardians of the city of Troy in Anatolia, around some time in the
late Bronze Age. The Trojan War began as a way for Zeus to consider reducing the enlarging
population of humanity, and a way to reclaim Helen, also known as the wife of Menelaos. Helen was
captured by Paris, and taken as his prize for choosing Aphrodite as the most astonishing goddess in a
competition between Athena and Hera. Menelaos and the Greeks came to an agreement to get Helen
back, and attack the Trojans. The Greek forces were led by King Agamemmon of Mycenae. In the

The Greeks had come in ships to try and attack Troy. For ten long years they besieged Troy, but the
Trojans would not surrender. There were strong high walls that protected the city when the gates were
closed, to prevent the Greeks from getting in. The Greeks made several attempts to try and break
down the walls and gates, but failed each time, so they came up with another solution. The Greeks
decided to build an eighty foot wooden horse, that was on top of a platform with wheels. A few of the
bravest Greek Warriors, including Ulysses hid inside the hollow stomach. When the Troys opened the
gates and came out, they could only see that the wooden horse was left behind. They thought it was
some kind idol of a Greek god. The Trojans were excited, and lugged it into the city of Troy. The
capturing of the horse was a symbol of their victory over the Greeks. They began to celebrate their
success, by feasting and merry making. At the late of the night, when the Trojans were asleep, the
Greeks that hid inside of the horse quietly came out. They let the other Greeks enter. Before this
happened, the Greek ships who pretended to sail away turned back around as an order from their
leaders inside of Troy. Thousands of Greek soldiers rushed into the city, and killed thousands of
Trojans such as men, women, and children. They

Inventory Systems Paper
Inventory Systems Summary
Inventory control systems are used so that companies can track materials or products. Before
technology was so readily available, employees of companies had a harder time tracking inventory.
Today one can go into a large retailer and ask an employee to check if an item is in stock and all the
employee would have to do is check a little hand held device. The four types of inventory systems that
Team A decided to research and discuss were: Advanced Tracking System (ATS), Perpetual Inventory
System, Periodic Inventory System, and Just In Time Inventory System.
Advanced Tracking System (ATS)
Advanced Tracking System, or ATS, is a system that operates standalone or front end that interfaces
with almost any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also well suited for the type of industries where there isn t much processing to do, so the
inventory exists at only one level (for sale) rather than at three levels (raw materials, work in progress
and for sale) (Kulkarni, 2010).
Periodic Inventory System A periodic inventory control is a system with no continuous record of
changes. Inventory is only tracked periodically instead of per the transaction. At the end of a specific
period, usually an accounting period; quarterly or monthly, the ending inventory is found by a physical
count. The cost of each item is computed and deducted from the sum of purchases and the beginning
of the inventory to calculate cost of goods sold (Business Dictionary, 2010). The periodic inventory
system keeps the inventory balance at the same value that it was at the beginning of the period. The
inventory level is not updated after purchases, for accounting purposes; this system uses an account
called purchases at the end of the period, rather than debiting inventory.
Just In Time (JIT) Inventory System
Just In Time inventory system known as JIT is one of inventory systems used in companies to deliver
a finished product to customers quickly to reduce the overall ordering and inventory holding cost
(Atkinson, 2005). The system proves to be most effective for companies that lose money for holding a
product in its inventory for an extended period of time and

Women In Ballet Essay examples
Ballet is an art form born out of the expressionism and creativity of the Renaissance period (Kraus
63). From the first ballet performed in 1580 to the present, women have been portrayed as fragile and
dependent on men. One such ballet is The Nutcracker in which the girl heroine Clara relies on the
Nutcracker to save her from the evil Mouse King.
The first production of The Nutcracker was performed for critics, public figures, and members of high
society and received lack luster reviews on December 17, 1892 (Anderson 40 52). The story opens in
the parlor of a middle class German family, the Stahlbaums, during a party on Christmas Eve.

A flower garden also waltzes for the children, and the most impressive dance is that for the Sugarplum
fairy and her Prince. When the party comes to an end, Clara is whisked back home (Anderson 9 13).
There are various ways in which The Nutcracker displays what is believed to be a woman s place in
society. Through the children s actions, one is able to see a clear distinction between male and female
gender rolls. Clara is a sweet and innocent girl, and her brother, Fritz, is a scamp always causing
trouble (Anderson 9). Clara is shown a world in which girls play with dolls and learn to be nurturing
mothers and boys train to be brave soldiers. Throughout the party scene Clara holds and cares for her
Nutcracker as if it were a baby. The Nutcracker also displays a woman s dependence on a man. Clara
must rely on the Nutcracker Prince to save her from the Mouse King. She can throw her slipper to
distract the evil Mouse King, but it is the Nutcracker who gives the Mouse King a mortal wound
(Banes 60).
Ultimately, The Nutcracker is Clara s girlhood dream of love and marriage. In the Land of Sweets,
Clara is finally able to be with her prince and with shining eyes adores him (Balanchine 249 253). The
Nutcracker also restores the ideal that marriage for gentry women is sweet, pleasant, and fulfilling. In
the metaphoric wedding feast in Act II, Clara is calm and docile watching the various antics, but not
participating, which also represents a

Essay On Outsource
Outsource Abstract: Outsourcing has become a major trend over the past decade. More and more
companies, both small or large even the employee, are turning to outsourcing to grow while
restraining the costs. The growth of outsourcing seems to base on a fundamental belief that
outsourcing creates wealth and delivers value to companies that outsource. Outsourcing has allowed
small businesses to focus on their businesses agendas, reduce costs, but many organizations are
frustrated that outsource had failed or created economic damages to their company.

competitive with another corporation and utilize the cost. Information technology is the function
which is most likely to be outsourced approximately 30% of the time [2].
As you can see from the table in the left, another major part of the corporation that is being outsource

about 80% of their time in a period of 3 6 months about the pro and con of outsource for their

It seems several of the world s greatest discoveries are on accident. Over the next several years the
French and the English attempted settlements and control on Madagascar but failed miserably, one
memorable Christmas day 1672 local tribe members attacked Fort Dauphine (the current French
colony) brutally and purposefully killing fourteen men and thirteen women. This massacre is rumored
to have been because these fourteen men deserted and divorced native Malagasy women in order to
marry younger and purer French women. This battle lasted a long eighteen months as the French
remained barricaded in their fort while the angry tribal members raged battle. In 1674 thirty remaining
men and the one widow were saved by the arrival of the French East India Company. The next several
years between 1680 and 1725 Madagascar was a famed and feared pirate cove, which during these
years hundreds of European vessels were ransacked of all their valuables and scrapped to the island, as
a result Madagascar became on of Europe s most feared shipping routes. The Merina monarchy began

specific specialty. There is the option to be a teacher, to work for various organizations, be a speaker,

Think you re escaping and run into yourself. Longest way round is the shortest way home (James
Joyce). A profound summary of the themes in Joyce s Ulysses, the quote above deals with journey,
escapism, identity, and nostalgia; all important parts of everyday life. Ulysses, however, was far from
the first literary work to deal with themes such as those. Indeed, the works of Joyce, as well as Dante,
Milton, and Virgil can be directly traced to the works of Homer, specifically the Odyssey. One of the
most translated, discussed, and taught literary works of all time, the influence of Homer s Odyssey
cannot be understated. Although Odysseus s journey is magnificent and supernatural, the epic
discusses the deeply personal struggles of one man, swept up in forces beyond his control, as well as
telling one of the first, if not the very first, coming of age stories. The account of Odysseus and
Telemachus deeply influenced not only western literature, but also music and media. In addition, the

Political History of Global Warming Essay
Political History of Global Warming
There is a lot of ambiguity surrounding the theory of global warming and the proper political response
to it. At the very center of the scientific debate on the variability of global climate is to what extent
human activities influence climate change. Another unforeseeable is whether the potential impacts of
climate change will be harmful or beneficial for humans, managed agriculture, and natural

public review and adopted by the U.N. Secretary General at the First World Climate Conference

Argumentative Speech
August 26, 2016, the first day Colin Kaepernick takes a knee during the National Anthem in a pre

taking sides immediately. Some think he should never be seen again, while others truly supported him
for the message he was trying to put out there. Once more players started taking a knee or raising their
fist in the air, the question came about whether college athletes or even high school athletes should
have the right to do the same. Technically they do have the right because of the first amendment, but
would that really show a good message to the fans of the team, your teammates, or even your coach.
What Kaepernick started is one of the biggest controversies our country has had in a long time and I
believe that we as people should not interfere with a situation that doesn t involve us. Today it seems
like people forget the reasoning behind Kaepernick taking a knee because of why athletes are doing it

Maybe it wouldn t seem very likely if we lived anywhere else but with the wright Patterson air force

The Three Causes And Effects Of Genocide In Rwanda
. Genocide is the deliberate killing of a group of people of the same race, religion or ethnicity. This
word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a Latin word cide (
killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A genocide. One group
of people who were called Hutus inhumanely killed Tutsis, and in only 100 days approximately
800000 people were slaughtered (Stapleton 25).
Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up
the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus
were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich
families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). However, these
classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who owned 10 cows or more
were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered Hutu. People could shift
from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of cattle they had. Before
colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19).

make during times of hardship. A soldier has to make the decision whether to keep fighting for what
they believe in no matter what the stakes or to flee. In December of 1777, George Washington and his
troops arrived at Valley Forge. Since the summer of 1775, all has gone well for the Continental Army.
More recently Washington was presumably unable to stop General Howe and his British soldiers from
claiming the national capital of Philadelphia. With Howe and his army of approximately 18,000
comfortably quartered in Philadelphia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am no longer fighting for myself, but for my nation and for my fallen comrades whose death must
not be in vain. Another reason I must re enlist is the fact that my government deserves my loyalty. The
Committee of Congress has stayed with us through much of the winter after arriving at Valley Forge a
few weeks ago and has given us hope (Document B). That hope has sparked within us a new flood of
encouragement and will power. When George Washington was talking to the 5 members of Congress,
he expressed the fact that we brave soldiers need help in our battle with Britain (Document B). Even
though it s cold, and we have threadbare clothing that are merely rags, and the Congress members are
all dressed in their finest, our spirit is still strong (Document B). Even Dr. Waldo stated that while
tending to our sick soldiers, he was surprised by the magnitude of cheerful willingness to proceed with
fighting for our cause (Document C). Dr. Waldo expected us to be down on our luck for having to
withstand the poor food, fatigue, cold weather, crowded huts, and smoky air quality which was due to
poor ventilation, but most soldiers were able to persevere through all of that hardship (Document C).
The Committee of Congress makes me feel like someone is listening to our needs. The general
supports us and the government cares about us, so I must support my government. Lastly, I am re

Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be
catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps
putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados
and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution
to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial
revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the
year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in
the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that
arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become
extinct and our great grandchildren won t be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists
also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound
too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea
level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100 s of
thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed.
I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative
ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions
upon millions of people s lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages
caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common
do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst
effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the
high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people
living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible

Planning With Obstacle Avoidance Of An Autonomous Robot
PRM Approach to Path Planning with Obstacle Avoidance of an Autonomous Robot
Saleh Alarabi
Abstract Navigation and mapping the movement of the robot is one of the main challenges in an
intelligent robot system. Many studies have focused on avoiding path planning, navigation and
obstacle in the known environment, but it is difficult to get, the optimum path in the path in a known
environment this is one of the important parts of the robotic planning.
PRM works to guide the mobile robot to reach the target with obstacle avoidance. This paper suggests
path planning based on a probabilistic way Roadmap (PRM) for an autonmous robot path in a known
environment. To simulate and compare the robot motion path with other studies curriculum was ...

Planning for the robot does mean search for a path which is giving the starting point to the target point
in the work environment with obstacles to make robot round secure any obstacle.
PRM has a powerful way to track the planning of robot s movement. PRM is to specimen at random a
robot s conïŹguration space, and relates the Samples points to build a graph of the road map, which
picks up the call of free space, PRM used in the implementation of many, in addition to robots,
including virtual models and computational biology. In this paper, a probabilistic roadmap method of
path planning for mobile robot is proposed to use it in Known environment.
II. RELATED WORK
PRM are considered as optimization algorithms for search in a space of potential solutions, the
solution to the problem of planning by PRM is proposed for the first time by [5]. Optimal trajectory is
calculated after several of Numnode. Some papers have focused on known environments. path
planning is an important subject in navigation of autonomous mobile robots, which is to find a best
path according to some criterion such as distance or time [6].
In this paper, PRM approach to path planning with Obstacle to solve the problem of path planning for
autonomous robots. We have mostly focused on using PRM to calculate optimized trajectory, we have
thus demonstrated their advantages and disadvantages, and for this we made a

Definition Of Forgiveness
Can justice and forgiveness go hand in hand? Can a man with the lust for blood and revenge punish
and forgive his indicted villain? As much as we would love to think that it s possible to punish and
forgive, we would only be clouding our judgement when we know full well that we cannot have both.
To forgive means to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake.
Justice means the action of punishing or correcting something or someone that is not behaving
according to what is morally right and fair. In the definition of forgiveness, it states that you are letting
go of your anger, while the definition of justice says that it the action of using your anger to punish
someone. If you punish someone for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I, however, know that that statement is wrong; forgiveness can happen without justice and vice versa.
In The Forgiveness Project, there was a man named Eric Lomax, a British officer during World War II,
was captured by the Japanese and was sent to a prisoner of war camp where he was tortured by a man
named Takashi Nagase. When Eric got out of the camp that filled his days with torment and suffering,
there was a part of him that did not come back with him; his family noticed the change in his heart and
it almost scared them. As each day passed, Eric s heart grew darker, hungry for the justice of his
tormentor, Takashi. One day, his wife found him and heard the regret and sadness in his heart; he
wanted to apologize to Eric for all the wrong he had done to him. Eric went to one of the old camps
and saw Takashi. After all these years, his abuser was standing right in front of him asking for
forgiveness. Eric expected to be filled with rage and anger, but he ended up forgiving Takashi for his
deeds and they became good friends until death parted them. Eric did not expect to forgive his
tormentor, much like none of us except to forgive those who wronged us.
Our actions are driven by emotions but not all of them are same for everyone else. Forgiveness can be
driven by love, family, friendship, loneliness, and even empathy, revenge is only driven by anger. In

Effects of Temperature on Beetroot Cell Membranes
Background Information: A cell membranes is a thin structure that surrounds the whole cell. It
contains the cytoplasm of a cell. The cell membrane is made up of hydrophilic region and a
hydrophobic region. The hydrophilic region likes water, it is on the outside of the cell, the
hydrophobic region is the inside of the cell where its protected from H2O. The cell membrane s outer
surface lets larger molecules into the cell. The inner surface deals with proteins that are important for
development and cellular function. The cell membrane contains specific proteins and lipid
components that enable it to perform its roles for the cell or organelle. A cell membrane can perform

First Death In Nova Scotia, Sestina, And In The Waiting Room
Childhood memories serve as significant elements within Elizabeth Bishop s poetry. Elizabeth Bishop
illustrates childhood as an innocent and cherished entity. External factors, such as death and loss,
jeopardize the fragility, or naiveté, of childhood. Bishop s poetry highlights the brevity of life through
the reappearing subject of mortality and loss. The reoccurring themes of childhood, grief, and
transience are prevalent within the poems First Death in Nova Scotia, Sestina, and In the Waiting
Room. Childhood represents a fundamental theme within the poems First Death in Nova Scotia,
Sestina, and In the Waiting Room. Each poem depicts the delicate nature of childhood and its state of
innate virtuousness. Bishop conveys the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Sestina, Bishop describes the sorrowful tale of a grandmother and child suffering through a painful
loss. Although the grandmother attempts to remain joyful and resilient to shelter the child, the woman
s tears uncover her anguish. Noticing the grandmother s tears, the child paints a picture for her in
order to make her feel happier and proud. With its storybook tone, Sestina relays wondering and
otherworldly details brought on by the child s imagination (Paul). Towards the end of the poem, the
buttons become little moons and fall down like tears and into the flower bed within the child s
painting (Axelrod). The child utilizes their creativity to initiate other fanciful images. Of course, this
goes unnoticed by the grandmother as these fairy tale occurrences transpired from the child s own
mind and creativity. The inclusion of playful and innocent representations in Sestina bolsters the
theme of youth and the righteousness that accompanies it. Additionally, the setting of the poem
maintains a crucial element to relay the theme of childhood to the reader. According to Jay Paul,
Bishop arranged the poem so that it occurs during a turning point a liminal moment. Also, objects
placed in the setting, such as the stove, are reminiscent of fairy tales

The Nuremberg Trials Rewritten Essay
How does a human judge another human for a crime that could have very well have been done by the
person judging the convicted person if he/she were in their shoes? No one understands what truly goes
on in someone else s mind. For that reason alone judging one another is wrong. The year world war II
finally ended, a courtroom in Nuremberg, Germany, became the scene of what would be called the
greatest trials of the world (www.pbs.org) . When the Nuremberg trials began Nazi s were judged on
what role they played during Hitler s reign. Though, instead of the German and Jewish citizens
judging the Nazi s it was the Americans. The major discussion about the topic is whether they are truly
guilty or not. If people have looked at the additional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What s worse is that the trials were not like regular trials. The soviets wanted speedy trials;
prosecutors would simply outline charges and judges hand down sentences. Robert Jackson insisted
there be time for the accused to defend themselves... he reminded everyone the United states held
most of the Nazis to be tried and the evidence to be used against them (www.pbs.org). This held for
two questions why did the Americans have the most is say in a case that didn t really involve them and
why is it that the Soviet Union wanted the trials to end quickly? Were the Americans trying to cover
something up or were they trying to be good Samaritans? What secret was the Soviet Union trying to
hide by not using the evidence and just sentencing people? A man once said, Conviction was by no
means certain. You must put no man on trial, if you are not willing to see him freed if not proven
guilty. If we want to shoot Germans as a matter of policy, let it be done by such. But don t hide the
deed behind a court by Robert Jackson (www.pbs.org). How it is that human could be as cruel to
another human just because that human did wrong? If taking away the life of a killer could fix things
many of them would be dead by now but the thing is that if they just died then who would repent for
their sins. The death of man and the revenge of another just lead a

Transgender People Face Harassment And Discrimination In 2015, at least 21 transgender people have been victims of fatal violence in the United States, more killings of transgender people than any other year on record. More transgender people were killed in the first six months of this year than in all of 2014. While we don t know many details about these victims experiences, research shows that transgender people face harassment and discrimination in numerous contexts throughout their lives. We know that the chances of facing discrimination, harassment and violence increase exponentially for transgender women of color, who also face racism and sexism. For many transgender women of color, the threat of violence is constant, and there are few if any places they feel safe. Transgender people must be supported because they are human beings who have many talents that will support and maintain society.! ! When we think of ourselves as male or female, it s called gender identity, Everyone has a gender identity. Most people s gender identity matches their anatomy. The Value of a Jury System The Value of a Jury System The Founders of our nation understood that no idea was more central to our Bill of Rights indeed, to government of the people, by the people, and for the people than the citizen jury. It was cherished not only as a bulwark against tyranny but also as an essential means of educating Americans in the habits and duties of citizenship. By enacting the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Amendments to the Constitution, the Framers sought to install the right to trial by jury as a cornerstone of a free society. Tocqueville keenly understood these linkages: The jury system as understood in America seems to me to be as direct and extreme a consequence of the . . . sovereignty of the people as universal suffrage. They are both equally powerful means of making the majority prevail. The jury is above all a political institution [and] should be made to harmonize with the other laws establishing the sovereignty . For society to be governed in a settled and uniform manner, it is essential that the jury lists should expand or shrink with the lists of voters . [In general] in America all citizens who are electors have the right to be jurors. We have come to think of voting as the quintessential act of democratic participation. Historically, the role of the people in serving on juries was often likened to the role of voters selecting legislative bodies, and even to the role of legislators themselves. Indeed, the jury s place in the judicial framework was closely related to the idea of bicameralism: Just as the legislature comprised two equal branches, an upper and a lower, juries and judges constituted the lower and upper branches, respectively, of the judicial department. The Supreme Court has reinforced the linkage of jury service and voting as part of a package of political rights. It follows a territorial principle that regions are assigned to be responsible for similar task. Another nineteen year old, Sarah Morgan, from Baton Rouge, went to the levees to watch the battles, even though it was against her mother s wishes.5 But some women took it a step further: rather than just watching the men fight for the Southern states, a few women decided to pick up a gun and join the ranks. It is not known how many women actually participated in battle; however, the number seems to be higher than anyone expected. • 20. Samuel Kramer s Argument That The Ancient Civilization Of... Samuel Kramer s argument that the ancient civilization of Sumer and the modern day world are fundamentally analogous (p. 250) is supported heavily throughout his literary work History Begins at Sumer, and has evidenced this from the social perspective, as well as from an institutional one. The first social comparison Kramer mentions is that of Juvenile Delinquency. Starting from page 14, Kramer describes a fathers point of view about this social disease and describe that his child is one of few who, rather than attend school, meet at the street corner and loiter. He continues, with the father expressing his anger. I, night and day am tortured because you. Night and Day you waste in pleasures (p. 17) is a perfect example of the parent s emotions, and can be related to the modern household, for both the ancient parents and those of today focus on making sure their children rise to economic success. In Sumer, the father wishes his son to be like him, a scribe, and does not understand why the son doesn t work towards that goal (p. 15). This contrasts with the modern family, where parents want children to, not only supplant them, but ascend to a higher economic position. Nevertheless, in today s world and that of the past, juveniles forming like minded gangs prevails, and is but one example of comparison. Secondly, best described on page 11 of History Begins at Sumer, apple polishing was yet another example used within Kramer s argument. In 2016, many see the only way to ... Structure Process And Facility Layout Forms of Transformation Processes used by Companies and Their Relation to the Facility Layout Selecting the most appropriate transformation process and facility layout is one of the keys towards achieving success in the company s performance. In general, there are many forms of transformation processes, and each has particular facility layout. What is more, there are also hybrid combinations of them so the organization can choose the one that best fits its needs and potential. Speaking of the basic forms of transformation systems, there are five of them including job shop, continuous process, cellular production, flow shop, and project (Meredith Shafer, 2013). Job shops are industries that offer a wide range of products and services. They can achieve diversity in possible outputs using departments functionally specializing in one or other good. The specialty of this transformation system is that the departments comprise of identical equipment or involve people with nearly the same set of skills, and the process is carried out on a non stop basis. It also has a peculiar layout that is based on a historically stable output so that it is rarely changed. The second type of transformation system is continuous process. Such industries use a set of materials and equipment and a sequence of processes to produce a final output. Periodic Inventory System A periodic inventory control is a system with no continuous record of changes. Inventory is only tracked periodically instead of per the transaction. At the end of a specific period, usually an accounting period; quarterly or monthly, the ending inventory is found by a physical count. The cost of each item is computed and deducted from the sum of purchases and the beginning of the inventory to calculate cost of goods sold (Business Dictionary, 2010). The periodic inventory system keeps the inventory balance at the same value that it was at the beginning of the period. The inventory level is not updated after purchases, for accounting purposes; this system uses an account called purchases at the end of the period, rather than debiting inventory. Once more players started taking a knee or raising their fist in the air, the question came about whether college athletes or even high school athletes should have the right to do the same. Technically they do have the right because of the first amendment, but would that really show a good message to the fans of the team, your teammates, or even your coach. What Kaepernick started is one of the biggest controversies our country has had in a long time and I believe that we as people should not interfere with a situation that doesn t involve us. Today it seems like people forget the reasoning behind Kaepernick taking a knee because of why athletes are doing it in the present day. First of all, before Kaepernick even started kneeling during the Anthem, he sat on the bench during the first pre season game of the 2016 season and no one even noticed. Wouldn t that be considered more disrespectful than kneeling which use to be a sign of respect? The reason he started doing it was to help the Black Lives Matter movement behind police brutality. During August of 2016, our country had a horrible summer with all the policemen killing and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Information Integration Theory With the age all of the numbers were very close together, so I think most just guessed. Which is why the numbers are fairly consistent. With your father s occupation for me the pilot seemed plausible. Maybe it wouldn t seem very likely if we lived anywhere else but with the wright Patterson air force base so close by it was a strong possibility that he could have been a pilot. Not just the Wright Patt, but with Ohio being one of the birth places of aviation, the possibility got stronger. At least in my mind. This pretty good example of the availability heuristic, a tendency to estimate the odds that an event will occur by how easily these instances come to mind. (Markus 123) With your favorite music, which ended up being Jazz and R B, I think most people looked at the age of our instructor. A little bit older, so for most it seemed like Jazz would be a good bet, since it s seen as a more adult form of music.I think people have a tendency to view intelligent people, like teachers having a more mature taste in music, regardless of age. I did not guess R B though, it is not something that fits into the line of thinking we have for a teacher. But it s a nice surprise that it s one of your favorites. ... • 40. The Three Causes And Effects Of Genocide In Rwanda . Genocide is the deliberate killing of a group of people of the same race, religion or ethnicity. This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a Latin word cide ( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A genocide. One group of people who were called Hutus inhumanely killed Tutsis, and in only 100 days approximately 800000 people were slaughtered (Stapleton 25). Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). However, these classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who owned 10 cows or more were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered Hutu. People could shift from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of cattle they had. Before colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19). After losing in World War I, Germany lost all its colonies in Africa, Ruanda which was also one of Germany colonies, and was given to Belgians. In 1916, Belgians took control (Kinzer 24). • 41. Valley Forge Essay Valley Forge: Quit or Stay When a person is in a stressful situation on instinct they have two options, fight or flight. In war the same is true. War is not always bayonets and bullets, it s the decisions you make during times of hardship. A soldier has to make the decision whether to keep fighting for what they believe in no matter what the stakes or to flee. In December of 1777, George Washington and his troops arrived at Valley Forge. Since the summer of 1775, all has gone well for the Continental Army. More recently Washington was presumably unable to stop General Howe and his British soldiers from claiming the national capital of Philadelphia. I am no longer fighting for myself, but for my nation and for my fallen comrades whose death must not be in vain. Another reason I must re enlist is the fact that my government deserves my loyalty. The Committee of Congress has stayed with us through much of the winter after arriving at Valley Forge a few weeks ago and has given us hope (Document B). That hope has sparked within us a new flood of encouragement and will power. When George Washington was talking to the 5 members of Congress, he expressed the fact that we brave soldiers need help in our battle with Britain (Document B). Even though it s cold, and we have threadbare clothing that are merely rags, and the Congress members are all dressed in their finest, our spirit is still strong (Document B). Even Dr. Waldo stated that while tending to our sick soldiers, he was surprised by the magnitude of cheerful willingness to proceed with fighting for our cause (Document C). Dr. Waldo expected us to be down on our luck for having to withstand the poor food, fatigue, cold weather, crowded huts, and smoky air quality which was due to poor ventilation, but most soldiers were able to persevere through all of that hardship (Document C). The Committee of Congress makes me feel like someone is listening to our needs. The general supports us and the government cares about us, so I must support my government. • 42. Causes And Effects Of Climate Change Climate Change Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become extinct and our great grandchildren won t be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100 s of thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed. I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions upon millions of people s lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible which ... • 44. Definition Of Forgiveness Can justice and forgiveness go hand in hand? Can a man with the lust for blood and revenge punish and forgive his indicted villain? As much as we would love to think that it s possible to punish and forgive, we would only be clouding our judgement when we know full well that we cannot have both. To forgive means to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake. Justice means the action of punishing or correcting something or someone that is not behaving according to what is morally right and fair. In the definition of forgiveness, it states that you are letting go of your anger, while the definition of justice says that it the action of using your anger to punish someone. In The Forgiveness Project, there was a man named Eric Lomax, a British officer during World War II, was captured by the Japanese and was sent to a prisoner of war camp where he was tortured by a man named Takashi Nagase. When Eric got out of the camp that filled his days with torment and suffering, there was a part of him that did not come back with him; his family noticed the change in his heart and it almost scared them. As each day passed, Eric s heart grew darker, hungry for the justice of his tormentor, Takashi. One day, his wife found him and heard the regret and sadness in his heart; he wanted to apologize to Eric for all the wrong he had done to him. Eric went to one of the old camps and saw Takashi. After all these years, his abuser was standing right in front of him asking for forgiveness. Eric expected to be filled with rage and anger, but he ended up forgiving Takashi for his deeds and they became good friends until death parted them. Eric did not expect to forgive his tormentor, much like none of us except to forgive those who wronged us. Our actions are driven by emotions but not all of them are same for everyone else. The cell membrane is made up of hydrophilic region and a hydrophobic region. The hydrophilic region likes water, it is on the outside of the cell, the hydrophobic region is the inside of the cell where its protected from H2O. The cell membrane s outer surface lets larger molecules into the cell. The inner surface deals with proteins that are important for development and cellular function. In Sestina, Bishop describes the sorrowful tale of a grandmother and child suffering through a painful loss. Although the grandmother attempts to remain joyful and resilient to shelter the child, the woman s tears uncover her anguish. Noticing the grandmother s tears, the child paints a picture for her in order to make her feel happier and proud. With its storybook tone, Sestina relays wondering and otherworldly details brought on by the child s imagination (Paul). Towards the end of the poem, the buttons become little moons and fall down like tears and into the flower bed within the child s painting (Axelrod). The child utilizes their creativity to initiate other fanciful images. Of course, this goes unnoticed by the grandmother as these fairy tale occurrences transpired from the child s own mind and creativity. The inclusion of playful and innocent representations in Sestina bolsters the theme of youth and the righteousness that accompanies it. Additionally, the setting of the poem maintains a crucial element to relay the theme of childhood to the reader.
