Sartre s Views On The Moral Choices
Jean Paul Sartre is a French philosopher who makes his claims based on a combination of two
philosophical traditions existentialism and phenomenology. Sartre himself is an atheistic existentialist.
He summarizes his claims regarding existentialism with three words anguish, abandonment, and
despair (25). In this paper, I will talk about Sartre s definition of existentialism, its relation to essence,
Sartre s views on the moral choices and how they relate to art.
Sartre makes the claim that all humans start at the same place. He says we are all thrown into the
world without any preset values/moral attitudes. We come into this world as a clean slate (tabula rasa)
(22). Although we did not come into this world by choice, the one thing we do come with is the
freedom to decide who we want to be and how we want to live our lives. In this sense, even prisoners
are free. Being physically captured doesn t mean being physically captured. You are free to determine
what your physical imprisonment means when you have the freedom to decide what any circumstance
means.
Sartre emphasizes the mantra of existentialism. His slogan is existence precedes essence . Essence is
what makes something what it is. According to Descartes, our essence is our rational mind it makes us
who we are. Sartre argues humans aren t born with an essence they don t start with one. Humans start
by simply existing. At the beginning, there is no internal essence or human nature. Our essence is later
defined by

A Social Media Marketing Plan
Marketing has evolved and grown tremendously throughout the years. If you have a Facebook or
instagram page you have seen some sort of marketing promotion or ad that a local business is offering
to draw in customers or a following. For instance Z Burger, a burger joint in the DC area offered a
promotion that went viral through Facebook offering $2 burgers and $4 veggie burgers for the entire
day of last Tuesday at their Columbia Heights location. I attended myself thinking it was going to be
ridiculously crowded but I beat the rush and the staff created a system that provided a speedy service
and less wait time to order and receive your food.
That event was so popular through Facebook that they are offering a second location and if ... Show

To launch social media marketing campaigns, all businesses need to do is sign up for free with each
social network they want to use. Once registered, businesses can create individual profiles for their
business and start posting content, such as industry trends, company news and promotional
information right away. This phenomenon has only developed within the last decade, thus social
media research has largely focused on (1) defining what it is through the explanation of new
terminology and concepts that makeup its foundations, and (2) exploring the impact of a company s
integration of social media on consumer behavior. This paper begins with an explanation of
terminology that defines social media marketing, followed by a discussion of the four main themes
found within current research studies: Virtual Brand Communities, Consumers Attitudes and Motives,
User Generated Content, and Viral Advertising.
Although social media marketing is a well researched topic, it has only been studied through
experimental and theoretical research; studies never precisely describe the benefits retailers gain from
this marketing tactic. In reviewing the rich plethora of multi disciplinary literature, it is has become
clear that studies are focusing on describing what social media marketing is as well as examining what
factors affect consumer behavior relative to social networking. Despite the initial progress made by
researchers, development in this area of

The Arab American And Socioeconomic Success
Coming from an Arab American household, there has always been an emphasis on higher education
and higher socio economic status. I believe that it is something that can be found in various Arab
American Communities in the United States and these standards set in the household show when you
look at the statistics as to where Arab Americans stand on both educational and socio economical
scales. This paper will look into the history of Arabs in the United States, as well as the demographics
of the Arab community in the U.S, and cultural and physiological backings that may all have influence
on education. My goal for this research paper is to find the reasons behind the Arab American strive
for education and socioeconomic success and whether the Arab culture has a positive or negative
influence on the success of Arab Americans.
Rationale
The importance of cultural recognition has always been a big part of my life. Growing up as an Arab
American in the United States has taught me to be more aware of the numerous diverse cultures that
collectively make up this country. The foundation of communication between these cultures is simply
cultural awareness. When one is aware of the differences of their neighbors it allows them to be more
perceptible to understanding them and those differences. Reaching my adolescent years I was
presented with circumstances where many associated my culture with my religion, continually I
clarified the difference between one s cultural and religion being

I Don t A Good President
When friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don t understand
the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald Trump has never
been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind. He s never had to broker
political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running for president. With no
experience in politics at all, why would people think he d make a good president? Sure, Donald Trump
is a barefaced self promoter and experienced businessman. But people don t realize all of the mistakes
he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a type of Wall Street or anything for him to
lose money or make some reckless decisions that would put our country into a deeper hole that we are
already into, and also getting multiple things done within the nation s capital takes more than a huge
personality and a strong will. If Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he ll have to quickly
learn how to deal with his Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He ll
also have to get used to the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate
pretty quickly and also where things can move extremely slow at times. He ll also have to get used to
giving speeches on topics he may not be interested in, especially when it comes to conversations
dealing with housing for the poor, education and various farming contributions. Being

The Importance Of Qualitative And Quantitative Data
Research tries to discover new evidence to identify facts to study and reach new results. Research
plays a major role in the society and it engages in discoveries, intelligence, and data collection. It
works to find out and understand how things behave and operate. (Allan, H. 1964) In Health and
Social Care research is essential because it allows new discoveries to be made and allows complicated
problems to be solved to help improve and better the setting.
A wide variety of different methods are used to acquire information or data. Some of these data can be
classified into Quantitative and Qualitative data.
Quantitative data refers to the compilation of information statistically. Normally, these data are
collected numerically and are generally tested and verified with social surveys, case studies and
experiments, unlike interpretivists, positivists have a preference to use quantitative data. August
Comte, the founder of positivists, described positivism as a sociology of science and discovered true
knowledge through mathematical testing. (Landow, G. 2013)
According to the research process, quantitative data is useful since it allows researchers to analyse and
measure data. Quantitative data s disadvantage is, it does not study things in natural environments or
the significant issues of things to different people, while qualitative data is more comprehensive and
valuable to data due to their written information or witnesses. (Cheal, D. 2002)
Qualitative research is conducted

Criticisms On Porter s Theory
4) Criticisms on Porter s Theory There have been many different reactions towards Porter s theory on
how nations ought to compete. Some responses were validated while others rebutted his theory.
Firstly, the positive response will be discussed before focusing on the criticisms of Porter s theory. Oz
(2002) implemented Porter s Diamond model to analyse the competitive advantage of five Turkish
industries and the outcome was favourable and thus validated Porter s theory. For example, the
uncompetitive Turkish automobile industry resulted in uncompetitive companies, while the presence
of demanding buyers and hence intense local rivalry in Turkish construction and leather clothing
industries pushed the companies to innovate and become globally competitive. The Turkish findings
by Oz thus validated Porter s theory that indeed, competitive industries of a nation are inclined to
cluster together. On the other hand, the criticisms of Porter s theory vary widely from doubts on his
theory s originality (Dunning, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993) to the over reliance on
global export shares as the measure of global competitiveness (Cartwright, 1993; Grant, 1991;
Rugman and D Cruz, 1993). Porter s methodology was also denounced by several academics, which
will be discussed below (Dunning, 1993; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993; Rugman and ... Show more

Propaganda During World War I
The Means of Propaganda From the First World War
By Evan MacArthur Waltz
3/4/18
Many people have called the Great War, or World War I, the first modern war because it involved
many technological and tactical advancements. One of the less obvious changes that supported and
sustained the war was propaganda, specifically in the form of lithographic posters. Propaganda posters
were a widely used tool to influence public opinion. What factors caused propaganda posters to be
uniquely significant during WWI in the United States? Unlike previous wars, U.S. participation in
WWI was at times widely unpopular (Hicks, 1949 ). The war was much less immediate in the United
States than it was in Europe, which made it easier for people to remain disengaged. ... Show more

Because of the unpopularity of the war, those posters were needed to sway opinion. The perceived
effectiveness of the posters in changing views led those in power to continue to create and distribute
them. Posters were never again used as the main form of propaganda in a war. In later conflicts, radio
and television became the primary way of distributing information to large numbers of people.

Compare And Contrast Sleepy Hollow And The Legend Of...
In 1820 Washington Irving wrote the classic short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow . In his version
no one knew what happened to Ichabod Crane, however there was some theories. The townsfolk of a
small backwoods town, Sleepy Hollow, just knew the Headless Horseman had come for him. Thus,
making nature win. In 1999 Tim Burton directed a movie that was based on Washington Irving s short
story. In his version everyone knew what happened to Ichabod Crane. He left the little town with
Katrina Van Tassel and Young Masbath after finding out how to stop the Headless Houseman. Which,
is making science win. The film version and the short story version both had the same theme, science

Even though Ichabod Crane saw the Headless Horsemen with his own eyes, he still thought science

must be an explanation for everything, and therefore believes there is a perfectly logical explanation
for what is happening in the town of Sleepy hollow. However, once Ichabod Crane, Young Masbath,
and Katrina Van Tassel went into the Western Woods and found the Headless Horseman burial site and
they saw him spring forth from the dead blood tree. This made Ichabod Crane question everything

science when he figured out that someone was controlling the Headless Horsemen to kill all these

Explain the Difference Between Parliamentary and...
Explain the difference between parliamentary and presidential forms of government. What is the
advantage of each? Discuss
My essay today will be focusing on the differences between the parliamentary and presidential forms
of government. I will be looking at the characteristics of each. I will also be looking at the key
differences between the two government systems and lastly the advantages of each system.
Characteristics of a Parliamentary Government
There are certain factors that are common to and define a parliamentary government. The source of
parliamentary government is the British system which as it expanded its reach around the world,
implanted its forms of government in various countries around the world.. I will be ... Show more

The best way to differentiate the two systems of government is to highlight the fact that while
parliamentary governments allows flexibility and change to the political process, presidentialism has a
strict and formally set way of running the democratic process. A parliamentary government will at any
time change laws and basic regulations and constantly alters members of parliament. A presidential
government will try to reinforce against instability and will therefore adhere to a rigid system.
In a parliamentary system the government s authority is completely dependent on the will of the
parliament itself. However in a presidential system the governments separate sectors are power unto
themselves and as such have the ability and power to enforce what they see fit. (Linz)
Advantages of Parliamentary
Keeping in mind that the disadvantages of a presidential government are consequently the advantages
of a parliamentary government I will discuss the most prominent advantages of parliamentarism. The
first advantage I will be discussing is the lack of an executive legislative deadlock. The second is a
parliamentary flexibly advantage. Furthermore I will be discussing the convenience of passing
legislation. I will be using the works of Lijphart and Young to illustrate my point.
The most prominent advantage of a parliamentary government is the lack of the potential problem of
executive legislature conflict. This is where two

What Cats Should Eat Essay
Many cat owners assume they know what their beloved cats are supposed to eat by reading the
nutrition label on the cat food bags and comparing to what they know about basic human nutrition.
But is that really what they should be doing? The nutrients that cats need is different from what
humans need, and by imposing a cat owner s nutritional views on their cat may be unfair to the cat s
health. What cats eat has a huge effect on the quality of the cat s life. A cat s diet is affected by
commercial cat food makers and cat owners. A bad decision on their behalf can lead to deadly
consequences for the cat. Most domestic cats are fed generic cat food from the local grocery or pet
stores. Others are fed the usually more expensive food from the ... Show more content on

Another study that was conducted in 2012 found that it didn t matter how the cat obtained the
nutrients, but that cats preferred food with more nutrients than food with less nutrients. These cats
were feed liquid nutritional supplement (Vebrugghe). Since cats prefer more nutritious food, it is
probably safe to assume that they know on an evolutionary level that more nutrients are better for
them than fewer nutrients. In the 1958 study, once a cat became sick, the scientists attempted to bring
the cats back to health. The cats that developed severe anorexia died, but the cats who suffered only
from hair loss had their fur grow back once the removed riboflavin was replaced in their diets
(Gershoff). The study also found that cataracts could be developed in cats from a lack of
carbohydrates in their diets (Gershoff). Now more than ever is a good time to learn about the dangers
of malnutrition in cats because human fad diets are often pushed onto the family cat as well. Vegan
diets can be devastating to one s health if the proper vitamins and supplements are not taken. Most
amino acids that humans need come from meats and many fruits and vegetables hold very little true
nutritional value to the human diet. The same is true for cats however there is one major difference:
humans are omnivores, cats are not. Cats are carnivores, which means that they only eat meat (Veggie
Cat Food). They are not evolutionarily suited to eat

Analysis Of The Madonnas Of Echo Park
Throughout the novel of The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse, the usage of connecting
various characters different lifestyles conveys the message of how in the real world everybody s
actions would have some sort of impact with themselves, an individual, community, etc. Despite there
being various characters in the novel that I could connect my life experience with, the two characters
that stood out the most was Hector and Felicia. Reason being both characters reminded a lot of my
parents who came to the United States and a lot of similarity to the characteristics of Hector and
Felicia. During the chapter of Bienvenidos we get to see a glimpse into the main character Hector.
Hector is portrayed as an immigrant man who is a day laborer, cheater, unhappy, and get taken
advantage of by its contractors. There is a section where Hector contemplates that during the time he
is working around other day laborers that he makes calculations away from the other men they hate
anyone who uses pencils and clipboards. (Pg.8) This passage shows how Hector has prior knowledge
that distinguishes him from the rest of laborers by being able to do minimum of the heavy work but,
being hated by the folks around him. This reminds me of my father Delfino because when he moved
to the United States he was coming with a mechanical engineering degree from Morelia, Mexico.
Despite the degree not being validated here in the United States he still had the knowledge that would
give him the upper hand when staring for a construction company called Anning Johnson. I
remembered how he mentioned that less than in a month he was promoted to supervisor because of his
knowledge and how people who had been working for the company for many years despised him for
getting such promotion that they dreamed of. My father would mentioned that as someone who doesn
t have paper having such position was great but that most of his work colleagues would have a passive
aggressive attitude towards him that made him feel uncomfortable. In spite Hector having good work
ethic and knowledge to give him an upper hand in the job, however a theme displayed in this
particular section was taking things in vain. Hector displays such theme by foreshadowing

Ariel Dorfman
I thoroughly enjoyed the message written by Ariel Dorfman in the essay The Black Hole. Stories of
individuals looking back and remembering the past, with a trail of hopes fear, and destruction are
always the stories that truly affect me because they don t just show the strength and vitality of hero in
a fight. Rather, these stories show them being weak, confused and almost hopeless. Ariel doesn t just
tell us about the positives of what he has done, but also the negative effect of what has been done to
those around him by his actions. Ariel was fighting for the freedom of himself, and all of those around
him. He was fighting for everyone that was suppressed by the government. The quote At some point

Games as was the Balcony in palace of La Moneda in Santiago where Ariel first witnessed President
Salvador Allende speaking. In both situations someone stood up and spoke against the government,
both places were the front, in some individuals minds, for the rebellion. Because of their significance,
both places were destroyed for that act of rebellion. Throughout the essay Ariel tells of us how the
actions made by himself and others were precisely what brought them to the point of being exiled and
killed. This is much the same as the point in The Hunger Games when the main character Katniss
Everdeen and all of District 12 have been forced to flee their homes, because she was the face of the
rebellion. This happened because the government wanted to make a point to any and all people who
thought to stand against them. Just as Ariel s government was making their own

The Most Dangerous Job Essay
In The Most Dangerous Job excerpted from the book Fast Food Nation, by Eric Schlosser, it discusses
the issues of the meat packing industry in the early 1900 s in the genre of fiction. It describes the
factory in a grotesque manner. The meat packing industry was known as having less strict regulations
compared to now. The OSHA should have more firm regulations for the meat packing industry and
local restaurants.
The Most Dangerous Job has a contrast of pathos to ethos and logos, to persuade his audience with a
more logical context. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair consistently uses pathos in the argument of their
passage to give an exaggerated tone. Both articles use this method to draw in their viewers with
adjectives relating to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slaughterhouse is one of the nation s largest. About five thousand head of cattle enter it every day,
single file, and leave in a different form (Sinclair). In this sentence, it was using logos in the starting

working conditions, offers to give me a tour (Sinclair). This sentence used logos to persuade his
viewers that people from the factory were upset because of the working conditions, and decided to
show him the poor quality they were operating in. The slaughterhouse is an immense building, gray
and square, about three stories high, with no windows on the front and no architectural clues to what s
happening inside (Sinclair). This sentence contained pathos to describe what the outside of the factory

In The Jungle, it s set during the early 1900 s in fiction in 3rd person point of view, while the The

The Most Dangerous Job has primarily ethos, logos, and pathos together in a balanced tone.

Radioactive elements have unstable nuclei. There unstable nuclei give off radiation when the nuclei

found in heavy elements. The charge of Alpha is positive 2. The mass is 4 atoms. Alpha particle can be

The Chaco And Its Effects On Indigenous Peoples
Much of the Chaco is still inhabited by indigenous people who often do not have rights to the territory
they are on. Development brought on by actions from organizations like the IIRSA can be devastating
to the indigenous people. Natural resource companies can displace communities. They can also harm
the indigenous people by extracting resources which the indigenous rely on for their way of life. The
IIRSA is attempting to boost economic development by promoting resource extraction and agriculture
production, but in doing so they are harming many communities that need the Chaco s resources to
survive. According to a USAID Issue Brief about Tenure and Indigenous Peoples new infrastructure to
improve access to markets, facilitate trade, and promote economic growth leads to an increase in
demand for land. This new infrastructure makes it easier for settlers, merchants, and illegal loggers to
clear forests and settle in indigenous territories. The USAID brief also mentions how this
infrastructure has both directly and indirectly caused negative effects in the Gran Chaco region. They
report how small scale illegal loggers invading indigenous titled lands follow[ed] the new transoceanic

Chinese Room Scenario by John R. Searle Essay
Chinese Room Scenario by John R. Searle Through the use of his famous Chinese room scenario,
John R. Searle tries to prove there is no way artificial intelligence can exist. This means that machines
do not posses minds. The debate between those who are in favor of strong and weak artificial
intelligence (AI) is directly related to the philosophy of mind. The claim of weak AI is that it is
possible to run a program on a machine, which will behave as if it were a thinking thing. Believers of
strong AI say that it is possible to create a program running on a machine which not only behaves as if
it were thinking, but does actually think. Strong AI followers argue that an installation of a computer
program is considered a mind as real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Searle remarks that this choice of program is not directly relevant to his argument, but is merely an
example. He then suggests that instead of running the program on a machine, that it can be represented
as a series of written instructions that he could follow. To make sure he is following the instructions,
everything is expressed in Chinese, since Searle did not know the language. The complete situation
has Searle in a room where Chinese symbols are passed through one slot of the room along with
English instructions on how to read them. He then computes them and passes out the meanings
through the second slot in the room. Searle s actions resemble Schank s program. The input is the
Chinese and instructions, and the output is the translated story. Since he is the installation of the
computer program, it shows the reader how other installations, such as a program running on a
machine, must lack the same understanding of Chinese and of the stories as he does. The Chinese
room offers a good starting point for thinking about the claims of strong AI, but it does not completely
prove they are false. It is not at all surprising that Searle running the program does not show
understanding of Chinese since the program, in any of its installations, never seems to understand it in

Stereotyping In The Workplace
Today one thing that stereotyping is a big problem in, is the workforce. Stereotyping plays a big role
in gun owners and how gun owners act around and to others. Black people and white people always
get compared in some form or fashion and always have. Many sports teams are accused of
stereotyping other teams, players, and sports officials. Stereotyping is one way that many Americans
judge people. The problem with stereotypes in sports is that they often advance to common
stereotypes in the society today. Most employers are not concerned with how their employees are with
their natural born abilities. Stereotypes of African Americans them being authentic and due to
segregation now does not help any for the blacks today therefore, blacks are stereotyped more as thugs
than they are as successful like most white men and women. However, the stereotypes of white
Americans being hard working, disciplined and smart are helpful to them in finding employment.

Picture this, A black male is walking down the street on the sidewalk with holes in his shirt, a gold
chain around his neck, and his pants sagging below his boxers. This same man is carrying a pistol on
his hip and is holding his pants up. Automatically people think he is a criminal. Many moms with
children in their car lock the doors because to them he looks like a threat. Little did they know he has
never harmed anyone or anything and would not, he is just carrying a pistol for self defense and he has
a consoled weapon permit. So many people stereotype everyone around then that today our society is
scared of one another and cannot seem to work together. One of the most insulting stereotypes is that
we own guns because we are making up for sexual inadequacies.

My Bike-Personal Narrative
It was in August. I was 8 and my dad told me that we were going to ride our bikes near the
Appalachian Trail. I didn t want to, but he had a rule that if you wanted to do screen time, you had to
do something outdoors. So, we got in my dad s red truck and headed to Vernon, New Jersey, where my
dad wanted us to ride our bikes. When we got there, we pulled out our bikes from the truck. That s
when my bike tipped over and fell on my leg. When it fell, I felt a sharp pain where it landed. I pushed
my bike off and realized that my leg was bleeding because of a cut. The cut was deep. As soon as my
dad saw this, he ran over, took off his sock, and tied it on my leg. Then he helped me into our truck

A Report On Tigers Delight

ENG 201
3 February 2016
Tigers Delight The largest tiger in the world has been measured at over ten feet long and over six
hundred and sixty pounds! Tigers are apart of the cat family and are known to be the largest feline in
the bunch. Within just the tiger species there are nine different subspecies and three of which are
already extinct. Their differences are not as drastic in appearance like other animals, such as dogs for
example, but they still noticeable to the trained eye. All tiger subspecies are currently classified as
being endangered but there are many actions being taken to help keep the current surviving species
from going extinct. Most tigers in nature live to be ten to fifteen years old. Tigers by nature are
carnivores and are only found in nature in one continent on earth, which is Asia. Unlike most cats tiger
enjoy swimming and spend the majority of the hot summer days resting in rivers or lakes.
OneKind.org is an animal relief organization and they explain that tiger s roar can carry more than 2
km and they are most active hunters at night (OneKind). Knowing information about the six living
subspecies of tigers and their differences, whether it be physical make up or social habits, and what
organizations are out there and what they are doing to help the endangered species, is a brilliant start
to having a well rounded knowledge of tigers.
Like all mammals tigers grow up, but what s unique to tigers that is different

The Conception Of Lean Production Essay
1.1 Lean
The conception of lean can be traced back to late 1980s, which was used to talk about Toyota
production system. Through using lean management, Henry Ford create a high production and low
stock, and fulfilled manufacture in a short period of time in the late 1910s (Arnheiter Maleyeff, 2005).
The original principle of lean production is to identify and eliminate muda . The term of muda is a
Japanese word, which means waste. Then such principle was regarded as lean. The theory of lean is
considered that after eliminating waste, there is an improvement in quality and reduction of time and
cost (Gershon Rajashekharaiah, 2011). After that, lean is used to manufacturing, and adding value and
fulfilling the satisfaction of customers with less waste become the core idea of lean. According to
Ferguson (2006), a successful implement of lean is to lead the whole organization to enhance the
value stream.
There are several tools for lean manufacturing, such as 5S, Just In Time (JIT), Kaizen, total productive
maintenance (TPM) and value stream mapping (leanproduction).
ïŹ 5S: Sort (to remove the things which are unnecessary needed), Set in order (to arrange the things
which are remained), Shine (clean and check the work space), Standardize (establish metric for the
things above) and Sustain (employ the metric regularly). Through using 5S, the waste can be reduced
in the workplace where is poorly organized (leanproduction).

Testosterone And Estrogen Research Paper
When an individual comes out as homosexual or bisexual, they most likely hear the words well that s
your choice. But for any one person who actually is homosexual, they know it s not a choice. So what
makes us this way? The answers are small chemicals that control our very lives. These chemicals are
the Androgens, Testosterone and Estrogen.
Testosterone and Estrogen are the male and female hormones that control how either gender develops.
Between weeks 8 and 14 of fetal development, before the fetus s sex is determined, tiny fetal ovaries
(which may turn into testes depending on the chromosome factor) and adrenal glands release the
embryo s own supply of androgens. These chemicals then cause chain reactions in the body, spurring
the growth of the genitals (determined by chromosomes), causing major growth in brain regions and

When we feel attracted to an individual, we like the chemical balance or imbalance they possess.
Sexuality is also controlled by these chemicals. Estrogen and testosterone determine the gender an
individual is attracted to. But of course, there is a significant difference between sex and gender, both
affected by androgens. The gender that a person may feel can be changed by the levels of their
androgens. Their chromosomes may say one gender, but their brain says another. This all boils down to
evolution. Beauty, attraction, and sexuality is all part of Natural Selection. Humans with better genes
appear beautiful, saying I am healthy, I have good genes. However, this is futile, humans are no longer
physically evolving. We are in an age where we should value brains and productivity over beauty and
sex appeal. This is the remnants of the old vomeronasal organ that identifies other pheromones and
hormones in potential partners. These chemicals, among others, control our very

Drama of Ancient Greece Essay
Drama of Ancient Greece
The Greek dramatists have bequeathed immensely to the current mode of modern Western literature.
Shakespeare and his contemporaries revered them for their distinct and explicit language, their
dramatic scenes, and their extravagant processions. The language of their stories has connoted itself
into both, the Western dialect and Western literature in general.
The establishment of Ancient Greek culture that has left the most immutable impression on our current
world is the myth. The many mortal heroes who are seen throughout the extensive deployment of
myths are accompanied by the ostentatious and mighty immortals, led by Zeus in the palace on Mount

Apollo was the god of light, the intellect, the arts, and healing. He was the son of Zeus and the Titan,
Leto. Also heralded as Phoebus, Apollo signifies light, order, and the sun. The most beautiful of all the
gods, Apollo represents the more rational side of both the universe and man. His oracle at Delphi, on
Mount Parnassus, was revered throughout the mortal world as a vessel of Apollo s predictions for the
future. Mortals sought the oracle from vast distances to discover the will of the gods.
Ares/Mars was the god of war, and the son of Zeus and Hera. He loved to fight, and to cause torment
and battle, although he lost his courage immediately after he himself was wounded. Followed by
Panic, Terror, and Trembling, and accompanied by his sister, Eris, and her son, Strife, everywhere
Ares walked he brought death and violence.
Artemis, who was the twin sister to Apollo and goddess of the hunt and unmarried women, had vowed
to remain chaste. Attended by her hunting hounds and nymphs, Artemis ranged throughout the mortal
forests, hunting with her silver bow. Any mortal man who saw her bathing, or in any way harassed her,
met with a horrible fate. She changed one man into a stag and set his own pack of hunting hounds on
him. Like the moon she was always related to, though, Artemis had two sides. She was gentle and
protective towards women and their young children.

check the site boundaries, building lines, existing buildings and other man made, or natural, features

Ground investigations are a crucial part of the survey as they determine the nature of the land and
explains the different types of soil which helps identify the type of foundations that should be used or
how water absorbent the soil is. A few stages of a ground investigation include; Trial Pitting, Dynamic
Probe testing/Sampling, Cable Percussive Boreholes and Rotary Boreholes.
Trial Pitting Trial pits can easily be performed by hand but it will take triple the amount of time and
you won t be able to get a good depth to get a good samples. Trial pits are usually dug mechanically
because it is finished much faster and can be dug a lot deeper. Trial pits are normally excavated at
4.5m deep as this provides a good insight of what the foundations will be sitting on and it provides
information if deeper foundations are needed. The advantages of machinery is that greater depths can
be achieved which would result in a more detailed soil sample test etc. A disadvantage of this would
be minor ground disturbance which could cause problems.
Dynamic probe testing/Sampling This can be performed with a tracked percussive or pneumatic
samplers which then collect the samples in plastic test

Comparing Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
When people think about Shakespeare they may think it is serious and boring, but really it doesn t
have to be. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made
a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and
Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a
younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann
attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s
film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach
gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the
city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and
old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel
more modernized. Changing the setting of the film to be more modern appeals a younger crowd
because it makes the film less tedious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play, the Montagues wear hawaiian shirts, and the Capulets wear suits. At the Capulet s party,
Romeo dresses up as a knight and Juliet dresses up as an angel. This was clever of Luhrmann because
it relates to the phrase, Carried away by a man in knight in shining armour. Another clever decision he
makes was when he has Tybalt dress as a devilish looking man. This is coincidentally showing that he
is Romeo s devil and is always trying to ruin Romeo s life. These costumes make it easier to follow
and understand the story, tell characters apart, and make the Shakespeare story less formal. This
contributes to the interest of the younger eye because a more modern looking play is more

Plasmasphere is a highly dynamics region which can expand and shrink within hours or less during
geomagnetic active times. Previous studies showed that the plasmasphere plays an important role in

plasmapause (the outermost region of plasmasphere) model is key to study the correlation between
radiation belts and plasmasphere in details. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis for
plasmapause modelling by comparing the performances of different machine learning techniques

combining different machine learning techniques. In the long run, this project strives to provide a
comprehensive study on the current machine learning techniques available and determine the best
option for this application. This information can hence be used to further improve the plasmapause.
With a better plasmapause model available, the scientists in the community can study and thus
understand the dynamics of the energetic electrons in the radiation belt and the role of plasmasphere

in socially divided Odessa, Texas. Throughout the story, challenges are presented with each of the
protagonists: James Boobie Miles, Mike Winchell, Don Billingsley, Gary Gaines, Brian Chavez, and
Ivory Christian. The book begins with the author talking about his motivation to write the book. Also
the author discusses the importance of Permian s game against Midland Lee High School (their arch
rivals). Tensions were rising greatly, and by the end of the game, star tailback Boobie Miles quits the
team and Permian lost 22 21, leaving them in a three way tie, with only two spots open in the 5A
playoffs.
The initial chapters discuss the town of Odessa and its history, unique facts, its people, etc. One of the
major topics discussed is the demographics of the town s two high schools: Odessa and Permian high
school. Also, other social issues such as crime rate, murder rate, and segregation (which is also
dedicated to chapter five). Multiple chapters in the book discussed in depth about characters Boobie
Miles, Mike Winchell, and Ivory Christian. Each of these players had varying backgrounds, and
motivations about why they played football. These chapters also discuss the lives of players off of the
field, and how the academics at Permian were backseat to their powerhouse football team.

Hume s Problem Of Induction Essay
Hume provided an integral philosophical question analyzing the problems of causality and of
induction. Following Hume s claims, Kant offered his attempt to solve Hume s problem (or, more
broadly, the problems that empiricism faced). By carefully explaining what the problem is that Kant is
attempting to solve, then explaining vigilantly how Kant tries to solve it. Thus leading to a concluding
critical examination to Kant s solution, indicating whether it s successful and why or why not that s so.
Hume asserts that there is no form of good reasoning that leads to the conclusion that the future will
resemble the past, or that similar causes will lead to similar effects. Hume dedicated his philosophical
work trying to uncover the problem of induction, and his skepticism of causality. Hume s claims stem
from separating two asserts of knowledge as relations of ideas priori, meaning that they are certain and
it is impossible to imagine them to be false, they tell you about the meaning of words, knowledge of

BCE. This new city was built upon an already existing city named Strato s Tower. Caesarea was the
largest of King Herod s building ventures and was named in honor of his patron, Caesar Augustus.
The harbor itself was named Sebastos. Herod had hoped the city would became a center for trade in
the Judea province. The new city had many public structures including a vast harbor. Some of these
structures included temples to Caesar and Roma, an aqueduct, an amphitheater and forum. Herod paid
homage to not only Rome but to his Jewish heritage by being able to merge both cultures in this one
city. The ancient city sits between the current cities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was also a shortage of drinking water for the people of the city. Despite these issues, the
builders were able to swiftly complete this massive project and the harbor was created. Josephus gives
us a detailed description of Caesarea calling the harbor the most impressive architectural feature of
Caesarea. He tells us of the lack of topographical features available to the builders such as a cape or
bay. The builders were able to carve the new facility out of the coast line without these features that
had been a prerequisite up until this point. Several other problems occurred during the building
including heavy storms and the constant erosion of the coastline. The outer harbor area had a circular
shape created by two breakwaters extending out from the shore that ran north and south. These
breakwaters are structures built into the water to help protect the harbor from the force of waves. The
south breakwater ran west but curved north at the seaward end. The north breakwater was smaller and
extended straight out west and stopped around 30 meters before the end of the south breakwater,
causing the entrance of the harbor to be on the north side. The large arms were built by large stones.
At the entrance to the harbor stood on both sides three colossi. There were three large statues on the
east that stood on a tower. The ones on the west side were supported by two upright stones.

Christian Apologetics Summary
In Christian Apologetics: A Comprehensive Case for Biblical Faith Appendix 1 Dr. Groothuis presents
a defense of the fairness of hell. He explains that, in our pluralistic and relativistic society, hell seems
to be a repugnant and offensive doctrine, even when presented biblically and faithfully. Jesus taught
the doctrine in multiple occasions, and given the evidence for the resurrection, his warnings should be
taken seriously if the resurrection is true, then Jesus was Divine and what he says is authoritative. In
spite of this, many Christians avoid the subject of hell altogether and secularists ironically condemn it;
however Dr. Groothuis raises a solid case for the reality of it with numerous quotes from Jesus. This is
a wise strategy since even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Groothuis about hell. He correctly states that that our eternal destiny depends on our response to God.
However, I believe a point that should have been strengthened is this: twice in the chapter, Dr.
Groothuis affirms that the unredeemed go to hell because they failed to respond rightly (7088) and
that eternal punishment awaits those who reject Christ. While this is technically correct and Biblical,
the deepest point and reason for the existence of hell is the incorrigible depravity of humanity. People
don t end up in hell because they confused Christ s purpose and rejected him, or because of meager
sins against a Holy God. Humanity is morally bankrupt and devoid of goodness as thousands of years
of death, genocide and rape attest to that. It is extremely difficult to convince helpless sinners that they
need forgiveness if sin is just a liturgical term used in Sunday school. Dr. Groothuis has already
explained that hell is inseparable from sin, God s holiness, and the cross , but the idea that deeply
depraved human beings are already damned and deserving of separation from God lest they repent
trough faith in Christ is not very clear from the

  • 2. Sartre s Views On The Moral Choices Jean Paul Sartre is a French philosopher who makes his claims based on a combination of two philosophical traditions existentialism and phenomenology. Sartre himself is an atheistic existentialist. He summarizes his claims regarding existentialism with three words anguish, abandonment, and despair (25). In this paper, I will talk about Sartre s definition of existentialism, its relation to essence, Sartre s views on the moral choices and how they relate to art. Sartre makes the claim that all humans start at the same place. He says we are all thrown into the world without any preset values/moral attitudes. We come into this world as a clean slate (tabula rasa) (22). Although we did not come into this world by choice, the one thing we do come with is the freedom to decide who we want to be and how we want to live our lives. In this sense, even prisoners are free. Being physically captured doesn t mean being physically captured. You are free to determine what your physical imprisonment means when you have the freedom to decide what any circumstance means. Sartre emphasizes the mantra of existentialism. His slogan is existence precedes essence . Essence is what makes something what it is. According to Descartes, our essence is our rational mind it makes us who we are. Sartre argues humans aren t born with an essence they don t start with one. Humans start by simply existing. At the beginning, there is no internal essence or human nature. Our essence is later defined by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Social Media Marketing Plan Marketing has evolved and grown tremendously throughout the years. If you have a Facebook or instagram page you have seen some sort of marketing promotion or ad that a local business is offering to draw in customers or a following. For instance Z Burger, a burger joint in the DC area offered a promotion that went viral through Facebook offering $2 burgers and $4 veggie burgers for the entire day of last Tuesday at their Columbia Heights location. Once registered, businesses can create individual profiles for their business and start posting content, such as industry trends, company news and promotional information right away. This phenomenon has only developed within the last decade, thus social media research has largely focused on (1) defining what it is through the explanation of new terminology and concepts that makeup its foundations, and (2) exploring the impact of a company s integration of social media on consumer behavior. This paper begins with an explanation of terminology that defines social media marketing, followed by a discussion of the four main themes found within current research studies: Virtual Brand Communities, Consumers Attitudes and Motives, User Generated Content, and Viral Advertising. Although social media marketing is a well researched topic, it has only been studied through experimental and theoretical research; studies never precisely describe the benefits retailers gain from this marketing tactic. Growing up as an Arab American in the United States has taught me to be more aware of the numerous diverse cultures that collectively make up this country. The foundation of communication between these cultures is simply cultural awareness. When one is aware of the differences of their neighbors it allows them to be more perceptible to understanding them and those differences. I Don t A Good President When friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don t understand the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald Trump has never been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind. He s never had to broker political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running for president. With no experience in politics at all, why would people think he d make a good president? Sure, Donald Trump is a barefaced self promoter and experienced businessman. But people don t realize all of the mistakes he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a type of Wall Street or anything for him to lose money or make some reckless decisions that would put our country into a deeper hole that we are already into, and also getting multiple things done within the nation s capital takes more than a huge personality and a strong will. If Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he ll have to quickly learn how to deal with his Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He ll also have to get used to the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate pretty quickly and also where things can move extremely slow at times. • 6. The Importance Of Qualitative And Quantitative Data Research tries to discover new evidence to identify facts to study and reach new results. Research plays a major role in the society and it engages in discoveries, intelligence, and data collection. It works to find out and understand how things behave and operate. (Allan, H. 1964) In Health and Social Care research is essential because it allows new discoveries to be made and allows complicated problems to be solved to help improve and better the setting. A wide variety of different methods are used to acquire information or data. Some of these data can be classified into Quantitative and Qualitative data. Quantitative data refers to the compilation of information statistically. Normally, these data are collected numerically and are generally tested and verified with social surveys, case studies and experiments, unlike interpretivists, positivists have a preference to use quantitative data. August Comte, the founder of positivists, described positivism as a sociology of science and discovered true knowledge through mathematical testing. (Landow, G. 2013) According to the research process, quantitative data is useful since it allows researchers to analyse and measure data. Quantitative data s disadvantage is, it does not study things in natural environments or the significant issues of things to different people, while qualitative data is more comprehensive and valuable to data due to their written information or witnesses. • 7. Criticisms On Porter s Theory 4) Criticisms on Porter s Theory There have been many different reactions towards Porter s theory on how nations ought to compete. Some responses were validated while others rebutted his theory. Firstly, the positive response will be discussed before focusing on the criticisms of Porter s theory. Oz (2002) implemented Porter s Diamond model to analyse the competitive advantage of five Turkish industries and the outcome was favourable and thus validated Porter s theory. For example, the uncompetitive Turkish automobile industry resulted in uncompetitive companies, while the presence of demanding buyers and hence intense local rivalry in Turkish construction and leather clothing industries pushed the companies to innovate and become globally competitive. The Turkish findings by Oz thus validated Porter s theory that indeed, competitive industries of a nation are inclined to cluster together. On the other hand, the criticisms of Porter s theory vary widely from doubts on his theory s originality (Dunning, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993) to the over reliance on global export shares as the measure of global competitiveness (Cartwright, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993). Propaganda During World War I The Means of Propaganda From the First World War By Evan MacArthur Waltz 3/4/18 Many people have called the Great War, or World War I, the first modern war because it involved many technological and tactical advancements. One of the less obvious changes that supported and sustained the war was propaganda, specifically in the form of lithographic posters. Propaganda posters were a widely used tool to influence public opinion. What factors caused propaganda posters to be uniquely significant during WWI in the United States? Unlike previous wars, U.S. participation in WWI was at times widely unpopular (Hicks, 1949 ). The war was much less immediate in the United States than it was in Europe, which made it easier for people to remain disengaged. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the unpopularity of the war, those posters were needed to sway opinion. A presidential government will try to reinforce against instability and will therefore adhere to a rigid system. In a parliamentary system the government s authority is completely dependent on the will of the parliament itself. However in a presidential system the governments separate sectors are power unto themselves and as such have the ability and power to enforce what they see fit. What Cats Should Eat Essay Many cat owners assume they know what their beloved cats are supposed to eat by reading the nutrition label on the cat food bags and comparing to what they know about basic human nutrition. The nutrients that cats need is different from what humans need, and by imposing a cat owner s nutritional views on their cat may be unfair to the cat s health. What cats eat has a huge effect on the quality of the cat s life. A cat s diet is affected by commercial cat food makers and cat owners. Since cats prefer more nutritious food, it is probably safe to assume that they know on an evolutionary level that more nutrients are better for them than fewer nutrients. In the 1958 study, once a cat became sick, the scientists attempted to bring the cats back to health. The cats that developed severe anorexia died, but the cats who suffered only from hair loss had their fur grow back once the removed riboflavin was replaced in their diets (Gershoff). Vegan diets can be devastating to one s health if the proper vitamins and supplements are not taken. Most amino acids that humans need come from meats and many fruits and vegetables hold very little true nutritional value to the human diet. Analysis Of The Madonnas Of Echo Park Throughout the novel of The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse, the usage of connecting various characters different lifestyles conveys the message of how in the real world everybody s actions would have some sort of impact with themselves, an individual, community, etc. Despite there being various characters in the novel that I could connect my life experience with, the two characters that stood out the most was Hector and Felicia. Reason being both characters reminded a lot of my parents who came to the United States and a lot of similarity to the characteristics of Hector and Felicia. During the chapter of Bienvenidos we get to see a glimpse into the main character Hector. Hector is portrayed as an immigrant man who is a day laborer, cheater, unhappy, and get taken advantage of by its contractors. There is a section where Hector contemplates that during the time he is working around other day laborers that he makes calculations away from the other men they hate anyone who uses pencils and clipboards. (Pg.8) This passage shows how Hector has prior knowledge that distinguishes him from the rest of laborers by being able to do minimum of the heavy work but, being hated by the folks around him. This reminds me of my father Delfino because when he moved to the United States he was coming with a mechanical engineering degree from Morelia, Mexico. Despite the degree not being validated here in the United States he still had the knowledge that would give him the upper hand when staring for a construction company called Anning Johnson. I remembered how he mentioned that less than in a month he was promoted to supervisor because of his knowledge and how people who had been working for the company for many years despised him for getting such promotion that they dreamed of. My father would mentioned that as someone who doesn t have paper having such position was great but that most of his work colleagues would have a passive aggressive attitude towards him that made him feel uncomfortable. In spite Hector having good work ethic and knowledge to give him an upper hand in the job, however a theme displayed in this particular section was taking things in vain. The claim of weak AI is that it is possible to run a program on a machine, which will behave as if it were a thinking thing. He then suggests that instead of running the program on a machine, that it can be represented as a series of written instructions that he could follow. The complete situation has Searle in a room where Chinese symbols are passed through one slot of the room along with English instructions on how to read them. He then computes them and passes out the meanings through the second slot in the room. Searle s actions resemble Schank s program. • 25. The Conception Of Lean Production Essay 1.1 Lean The conception of lean can be traced back to late 1980s, which was used to talk about Toyota production system. Through using lean management, Henry Ford create a high production and low stock, and fulfilled manufacture in a short period of time in the late 1910s (Arnheiter Maleyeff, 2005). The original principle of lean production is to identify and eliminate muda . The term of muda is a Japanese word, which means waste. Then such principle was regarded as lean. The theory of lean is considered that after eliminating waste, there is an improvement in quality and reduction of time and cost (Gershon Rajashekharaiah, 2011). After that, lean is used to manufacturing, and adding value and fulfilling the satisfaction of customers with less waste become the core idea of lean. According to Ferguson (2006), a successful implement of lean is to lead the whole organization to enhance the value stream. There are several tools for lean manufacturing, such as 5S, Just In Time (JIT), Kaizen, total productive maintenance (TPM) and value stream mapping (leanproduction). ïŹ 5S: Sort (to remove the things which are unnecessary needed), Set in order (to arrange the things which are remained), Shine (clean and check the work space), Standardize (establish metric for the things above) and Sustain (employ the metric regularly). But for any one person who actually is homosexual, they know it s not a choice. So what makes us this way? The answers are small chemicals that control our very lives. These chemicals are the Androgens, Testosterone and Estrogen. Testosterone and Estrogen are the male and female hormones that control how either gender develops. Between weeks 8 and 14 of fetal development, before the fetus s sex is determined, tiny fetal ovaries (which may turn into testes depending on the chromosome factor) and adrenal glands release the embryo s own supply of androgens. These chemicals then cause chain reactions in the body, spurring the growth of the genitals (determined by chromosomes), causing major growth in brain regions and impactful change in ... Estrogen and testosterone determine the gender an individual is attracted to. But of course, there is a significant difference between sex and gender, both affected by androgens. The gender that a person may feel can be changed by the levels of their androgens. Their chromosomes may say one gender, but their brain says another. This all boils down to evolution. Beauty, attraction, and sexuality is all part of Natural Selection. Humans with better genes appear beautiful, saying I am healthy, I have good genes. However, this is futile, humans are no longer physically evolving. We are in an age where we should value brains and productivity over beauty and sex appeal. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel more modernized. Jesus taught the doctrine in multiple occasions, and given the evidence for the resurrection, his warnings should be taken seriously if the resurrection is true, then Jesus was Divine and what he says is authoritative. However, I believe a point that should have been strengthened is this: twice in the chapter, Dr. Groothuis affirms that the unredeemed go to hell because they failed to respond rightly (7088) and that eternal punishment awaits those who reject Christ. While this is technically correct and Biblical, the deepest point and reason for the existence of hell is the incorrigible depravity of humanity. People don t end up in hell because they confused Christ s purpose and rejected him, or because of meager sins against a Holy God. Humanity is morally bankrupt and devoid of goodness as thousands of years of death, genocide and rape attest to that. It is extremely difficult to convince helpless sinners that they need forgiveness if sin is just a liturgical term used in Sunday school.
