Counterfeiting Of The United States
According to Alan Behr and Sarah Hsia The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection estimates that
counterfeiting costs the United States an estimated $200 billion each year (2007). Counterfeit items
come in several forms such as bags, money, software, movies, drugs and much more. Many people fail
to see that this practice as unethical and harmful towards the company who has manufactured the
original item. There are laws in the United States that prohibit people from selling counterfeit items,
but there are no punishable laws against the buyers. If there were laws against people who buy
counterfeit items, there could possibly be a drop in these items being sold and distributed. Todd
Barosky explains that: counterfeiting is one of the oldest crimes in America...nearly two centuries of
American history, from the introduction of paper money in the British colonies of North America at
the end of the seventeenth century, to the nationalization of the currency by the federal government at
the middle of the nineteenth century, experiences with counterfeit money were both frequent and
widely shared (2010). Counterfeiting does not only happen in the United States, but in other parts of
the world as well. Jills Jusko reported that back in 2006, more than $155 million in counterfeit goods
were seized by the U.S government. The goods came from China, 81%, Hong Kong, 6%, Taiwan, 1%,
Pakistan, 1%, Korea, 1%, and from other places, 10% (2007). This causes a negative economic effect

Public Policy And Creating Solutions For Improvement Essay
Examining Public Policy and Creating Solutions for Improvement
Reflections on Public Policy The chosen public policy issue is the ongoing effort within nursing to
advance the field through taking action. In this case, action takes four distinct activities: advocacy,
policy, learning as a lifelong process and involvement in philanthropy. This action can be applied
through community based participatory research which is a research partnership seeking the
involvement of all members of the community. Under this approach, all participants contribute their
knowledge to the process in an effort to better the quality of life in that community members (Israel et
al., 2008). It is because there are so many under served populations and in under serving these
populations nursing fails to live up to its professional and this is a policy change that must be made.
This issue of public policy, that is, the issue of the prevalence of under served populations which
clearly requires changing, and the role that nursing can play in this public policy process is discussed
at length in Burkhardt and Nathaniel (2013).
To influence public policy, nurses must act as professionals with the ability and the responsibility to
affect the current and future debate over the delivery of health care. This would seem natural enough
as nursing is based on the principle that all people are of value and their health should be advanced
throughout every socioeconomic tier of society (Brown,

Summary Of Western Women In High Noon
Woman played a crucial role in the building blocks of the western mystique but they were often
excluded from the mystique. Their role as homemakers and guardians of morals and culture on the
frontier is undeniable, and female pioneers lives were not as dramatic as the western males.
Understandably, pioneer women also faced loneliness and despair more frequently than men did, and
their mortality rate was higher due to the fact they had more boundaries and limitations. Woman
focused on relationships and maintaining stability during a crisis. Which was far different from a male
point of focus. Although both High Noon by Fred Zinnemann and Madonna of the Prairie by William
Koerner convey the Western life of a pioneer woman, Director Fred Zinnemann depicts a western
woman who breaks away from western morals and values to do the right thing, whereas Artist William
Koerner depicts an authentic pioneer woman who stays within her morals as a western woman.
In the film High Noon by Fred Zinnemann, Will Kane finds himself personally compelled to duel his
enemy Frank Miller when he realizes the townspeople of Hadleyville turned cowardly when the time
came for a showdown. Will Kane and Frank miller and his bandits duel with their guns outside as
everyone hides away from the bullets. Amy Kane peeks out her window to get glimpses of how her
groom battling the unlawful criminal; She cannot handle watching her groom participate in the
dangerous showdown alone. She handles her handgun in

clients of the Agency do not do things to jeopardize the positive view of him or herself or the agency.
LeBron makes easily enough to have his deal be considered a fair deal. LeBron could definitely be

how he could definitely be making more money. He is the face of the NBA right now, he is also the

colombia Essay examples
Violence in modern Colombia takes place in many forms. The three major categories are crime,
guerrilla activities, and attacks committed by drug traffickers. Violence has become so widespread and
common in Colombia that many people have now become numb to it. The Colombian economy has
also benefited from the illicit drug trade; however violent it may be. During the 1970s, Colombia
became well known, as one of the world s most important drug processing, production, and
distribution centers for marijuana and cocaine.
The shrubs and plants from which both drugs are derived from and processed has been well known in
Colombia for centuries, but until the 1970s drug refiners and traffickers had not taken full advantage.

During this time, the levels of violence were lower than many European and American Countries.
Colombia has gained international fame as one of the major centers in the world for drug trafficking.
Anytime a country has a problem with drug trafficking, crime is always high.
In 1973, homicide was the seventh highest cause from death, but since has become the first since
1990. More than 165,000 have had a violent death between 1980 and 1990. During this decade, the
homicide rate was 77.5% per 100,000 people. In comparison, the United States has been regarded as a
violent country, but yet the homicide rate was only 8.0%. Contributing to this violence in Colombia is
the possession of firearms. Colombians possess more than three million firearms, and more than half
is possessed illegally.
This adds greatly to the crime and violence in Colombia (Posada Carbo). It is extremely difficult to
measure the magnitude, type, and location of violence in Colombia. Another problem in measuring the
amount of violence is that not all violent cases are reported. It must also be noted that any media
report of violence must also be read with caution; for it may or may not have occurred.
Violence seems to be a nationwide phenomenon. Almost all aspects of the Colombian population
experience some degree of violence. Almost everybody is a potential victim; violence does not prefer
a particular socioeconomic class, profession, race, or

A Humorous Wedding
That thick envelope just arrived in the mail. You ve been invited to a wedding.
Now what?
You re probably very happy to have received an invitation to a wedding. But what does it all mean?
And what if you aren t so happy? Here s some pointers.
If you really don t want to attend the wedding: don t go. If you aren t that close to the bride and groom
and don t really care to be there, it s perhaps better you don t attend. It may be that you have been
included on the guest list at the insistence of a parent who, for example, feels a professional obligation
to invite you. If it isn t that important a relationship to you, why not free up your spot for another
guest?
If you do not plan to attend the wedding, notify the couple as soon as possible. There is probably a
response card included in the invitation. Follow the instruction to indicate that you will not be
attending, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

solicited. If you get to the reception and they are serving something you can t eat, just don t eat it. If
you have food allergies or religious dietary restrictions, try to eat something before hand, just in case.
Being a good guest isn t really very hard. Just remember your manners. If, heaven forbid, you never
learned any, just remember that a couple s wedding is first and foremost their day, and a special day
for their families. They want you to have a good time, but the event is not about indulging you, so put
the couple s happiness ahead of your own. The couple and their families have honored you by inviting
you to the wedding: return the favor by following simple rules of courtesy and common

Examples Of Hero s Journey In Star Wars
The movie Star Wars is the perfect example of a modern hero s journey. Luke Skywalker wanted to
stay home with his uncle and tend the farm, but C3PO and R2D2 needed help so he went with them to
defeat Darth Vader. In the end Luke defeated Vader s space station and was a savior or hero to
everyone. Although some people may say that Star Wars is not a good example of a hero s journey
because it does not show some part of the hero s journey. I believe that Luke Skywalker is undertaking
the hero s journey process since he undergoes every step including, departure, journey, and return. To
conclude, I believe that Luke Skywalker is the perfect example of a hero.

Luke s journey starts when he is inside the millennium falcon with Han Solo, Chewy, Obi wan, R2
D2, and C3 P0. During this event, they soon come to see a planet, which turned out not be a planet,
but to be the Death Star. The Death Star we soon find out is the ship of Darth Vader. Han Solo tries to
turn around but it is too late. They are soon entering the Death Star. When they get inside, they hear
that Princess Leia, the woman from the video message, is trapped in a prison cell and is due to be
executed. This is one of the first obstacles for the team, because now they have to rescue Princess Leia
from her death, but it isn t as hard as they think. Luke and Han Solo come up with the idea to wear the
Storm Trooper uniforms, the uniforms of the military defense of the Death Star. Luke is able to sneak
into the cell where Leia is kept, and therefore completes his first obstacle, but there are many more to
come. After rescuing Leia, she then becomes one of his allies, and will help him later in the movie.
The next and probably the most substantial challenge that the group faces is to escape with the Death
Star with the layout of the Death Star inside of R2 D2. While trying to do this they are all being shot at
by Storm Troopers, but they were still able to escape. Well almost all of them. Obi wan Kenobi
sacrificed himself to Darth Vader so the others could escape the Death Star. This then leads to the final
confrontation, with the outline of the Death Star, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewy, C3 PO, R2 D2,
and Princess Leia, have to figure out a way to attack the Death Star. Luke is in an X Wing Fighter
Plane and he makes the last shot, therefore blowing up the Death Star and everyone inside. In
conclusion, Luke Skywalker is the perfect example of a hero because he shows the second step of the

To identify the importance of the play, Wilson introduces symbolism as a mean of the play. The
symbols the piano, Sutter s ghost, and the song bring about the core of the play, and give a deeper look
into The Piano Lesson.
The play starts off with Boy Willie and his friend Lymon heading towards north to Pittsburgh. Their
intentions are to sell a truck load of watermelons, and most of all to convince Berniece into selling the
piano. Boy Willie knows very well that Berniece will not give up the piano, but resumes with his
journey to sell the piano. The piano in this play is the heart of the play. It is the main cause for the
tension between Boy Willie and Berniece. The piano has brought upon many grieves to the Charles
family, and has caused many lives. The piano is a symbol for every life that it has taken. And for those
lives, Berniece resists in letting go of the piano. Even though, it is the most important matter in the
family. To Berniece, the piano is also a prize possession because of their ancestors, but most of all she
refuses to sell it because their mother polished it everyday after their father died. Berniece accuses
Boy Willie of not considering what their mother has done. But even after all that their family has gone
through to finally claim the piano, Boy Willie wants to sell it anyway. The piano is the only family
value that both siblings can hold on to and pass on to next generations. Boy Willie feels

Allusions In Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a very popular show to teens and adults alike. The show s screenwriter,
Joss Whedon, studied literature in college, and therefore, the show has layered episodes with literary
elements like symbolism, metaphors, and allusions. The show is easily very relatable to teenagers .
Buffy expresses teenage drama in a supernatural way that is interesting to watch. Buffy is also known
for its dialogue ,but this popular opinion is the reason why Whedon wrote the episode Hush . He was
tired of hearing that a critical part of the series was the dialogue so he wrote an episode that had
silence fourteen minutes into the episode.. The original airing of Hush received 6.6 million views and
the episode was nominated for an Emmy. In the episode Hush , there are multiple instances where the
characters show that words are not as important as actions. Buffy is the main character of the series
and in this season she has a love interest named Riley. While it is clear they both have feelings for
each other, they are terrible at communicating. For one, Buffy and Riley both lie about their true
identities to each other. Buffy is the slayer, which means she protects mankind from monsters like
vampires and werewolves. After a class discussion, the couple begin to talk. During the conversation,
Buffy accidentally tells Riley she will be patrolling later that day, which she quickly covers up. While

Sexism Against Women
Sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, commonly towards women, on the basis of their
sex. Sexism is still present in today s society, especially against women. There are many ways as to
how people are sexist towards women. The three places that sexism against women is a big issue: the
media, pop culture and the sports industry. Some people do not allow women the same opportunities
that men have just because they are women. By creating sexism in these places, people are treating
women unfairly and with disrespect. The stereotypes that are created by women paints a certain image
of women that people believe to be true. The media is especially known for creating unrealistic images
of women.
One place where sexism against women is present is in the media. Women are portrayed a certain way
in advertisements, like TV commercials. The author of the book, book title, stated that, according to
advertisers, women drink iced tea and eat yogurt, salads, chocolate and cake , (DiAngelo and Sensoy,
86). This statement paints a certain stereotype of women based on the things that they eat. It is a
known fact that all women do not have the same diet and do not eat all the same foods, so it is weird
that advertisers say that all women eat the foods that they mentioned. In today s society, social media
is now a big part of the category media. An article was written on the topic of sexism involving
Twitter. The article mentions how hashtags that are used on twitter are sexist.

Discrimination Based On Gender Discrimination
Discrimination, especially discrimination based on gender, should be looked at through Deontology.
This is because discrimination based on gender affects the rights of many, requires duties of other to
not discriminate and have respect for others, and can have large consequences. It is important we look
at rights, duties, and consequences rather than only evaluate gender discrimination based on its
consequences in order to be able to create a way to virtuously handle gender.
While gender discrimination can affect men it focuses more strongly on women. Many women today
are viewed through stereotypes and stigmatisms of what they should do or how they should act. They
are seen by society as weak, inferior, and incapable when compared to men. For instance, it is the
stereotype that women should get married at a certain age and stay at home cleaning, cooking, and
raising kids rather than be out in the work force. However, women have a right to dream and work
towards success just like a man can. They have the right to work, chose to have or not have children,
and even have the right to choose not to clean their homes. Just as men have the right to stay at home
and cook, raise kids, and clean if they so choose. These decisions do not make men and women less or
more of a man or women. Rather they are natural rights that society often looks down on. The
consequences of this discrimination is the emotional damage to women and idea that they are not good
for anything else, but making

Sonder is an infrequently used noun defined as the realization that each random passerby is living a

interpretations of it; in my opinion, when you gain sonder you gain perspective and empathy into the
lives of everyone around you, and learn what makes them the way they are. Everyone has this moment
of realization at some point in their life, but few people ever give sonder any real thought beyond that

Being a role model for my young daughter is very important to me. Receiving a higher education is
not only important to me, but also to my daughter. A single mother is usually categorized in a negative
light. When one says she s a single mother the first initial thoughts of many are the stereotyping that
the single mother is on welfare, Medicare, and other government aids. Although the article Great
Expectations: Single Mothers in Higher Education, by Diana L.Haleman is about the minority group
of single mothers that live in poverty, I have some of the same issues that these women in the study
had; mother, employee, and a college student. Their educational experiences often provide an
opportunity for disrupting negative expectations directed toward them and also symbolize for the
women the possibility of realizing the hopes and dreams they hold for themselves and their children,
says Haleman, I couldn t agree more with that statement. Being a single mother, a hard worker, and a
college student is not an easy task, but having my daughter grow up watching all my willpower on

Ongka s Big Moka
The 1976 documentary film Ongka s Big Moka is a prime example to explicate the resemblance of
gift economy and creditor debtor relationship with regard to interest. Moka is a ritual of gifting in
tribes of the Mount Hagen area in Papua New Guinea. Pigs as well as other live stocks, cassowaries,
scarce pearl shells, and as the modern civilization gradually penetrates into the tribes, cash and
automobiles are given away at the ceremony. Giving away food and gifts is translated to status and
rank. The greater the value of the gifts and the scale of the feast are, the greater the power it brings to
the host of the moka. The receiving tribe tries to repay the gift to recover its prestige by hosting
another moka with more generous gifts and a more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The receiver of the gift is better off in a utilitarian sense, if he chooses not to return the favor. Yet why
does he have the desire to repay? Why does receiving a gift put him at a social disadvantage? The
economy of gift of Bataille differs from Nietzsche s creditor debtor relationship with regard to the
psychology behind these two dynamics. While Bataille delved into the mentality of the giver, who has
the upper hand in this power relation, Nietzsche focused on the psychology of the debtor. Bataille
construed the economy of gifting as an act out of man s animal factor that goes beyond the want of
acquisition a human instinct to win and to overpower. It is in man s nature to covet prestige, glory and
rank (Bataille, 1997, p. 376), yet they do not come without comparison and competition. Thus, the
giver of the gift has to deliberately create a rivalry, and thus, an inequality that favors himself in order
to acquire prestige, glory and rank. It is this desire for superiority that gives man the ultimate incentive
to give away his wealth. Gifting is to win by losing. It also explains the increment value in the return
of the gift, for the receiver of the initial gift not only wants to recover his equality with the initial
giver, but also to overpower him, to defeat him. The same desire that fuels the endless cycle of gifting
rituals like moka and potlatch. One good potlatch deserves another, and

Analysis Of I Died For Beauty
The poem that I have chosen to analyse is I Died for Beauty but was Scarce by Emily Dickinson. This
poem is one of Emily Dickinson s most well known poems and it only includes 12 lines and 3 stanzas.
It is an allegorical and metaphorical piece of work that portrays the speaker who died for Beauty while
the man beside gave up his life for Truth . This simple and straightforward poem, written in first
person, mainly explores the theme death but then also shows beauty and truth through Dickinson s
choice of words. Although this poem is daunting and frightening, it is also definitely fascinating and
truthful.
The first stanza is about the speaker dying for Beauty . It seems that he (we can conclude that the
speaker is a he from the poem s later mention of Brethren and Kinsmen ) must have been loved before
and had a proper burial. But just before he gets comfortable or can get Adjusted into the Tomb and left
alone for too long, he is accompanied by a deceased man who died for Truth in a tomb next to him.
The theme death is brought in by the words Tomb and died . Dickinson also used the word scarce to
show the reader that it is uncommon to find someone who believes that it is worth dying for beauty
too. In the first stanza, the rhyme scheme ABCB is present but this rhyme scheme is only found in
stanza one. Emily Dickinson capitalised some of the nouns used in her poem. I believe she did this to
show that these words carry deep meaningfulness to this poem. She

The Consequentialist View Of Utilitarianism By John Stuart...
The Negative Side Although I have stated how the theories of these philosophers in a way go in
accordance on how using performance enhancing drugs is morally right they also hold small facts on
how they could also be viewed both ways. The theory of utilitarianism that John Stuart Mills brought
up has been criticized for many reasons. Critics declare that it does not provide adequate protection for
individual rights, as well that not everything can be measured by the same standard, and that
happiness is more complex than reflected by the theory. Immanuel Kant is one of those who criticizes
the Utilitarianism and argues how the Consequentialist view, by contrast, disputes that moral value lies
not in our actions but in the consequences. It is also to be known that the utilitarianism of John Stuart

Camping At Devils Lake
The vibrant greens, the hastening winds through the trees, the mosquitoes biting where mosquito spray
is lacking, and the raccoons stealing the last box of lucky charms, these are some of the joys
experienced in the great outdoors. The outdoors is one of my favorite get away locations. From before
my adolescence to this day, I am an outdoorsman: From camping at Devils Lake, to canoeing the
Canadian Boundary Waters, and even sailing the Florida Keys. Camping is enjoyable for me because
it is a place of freedom, a place of relaxation, and a place where I can create memories with my family
and friends. The secluded outdoors, away from cities, is a place broken away from the chains of
society. Though campgrounds still have rules, the rules instituted our quite lax in both definition and
enforcement. People can often do a lot more in a campground or in nature reserves than in cities or
even towns. A minor example of this would be the use of bicycles, in a city bicycles need to ride in the
bike lane on the right side of the road, however in a campground you can ride the bike on the road or
take it off road onto the trails and explore. Though most campgrounds have rules on where you can
ride your bike, the rules are not very strict nor are they very enforced. Since there is only a minute
amount of people you encounter while camping it also allows you the freedom of doing whatever you
want without the judgmental eyes of society laying upon you. I enjoy the lack of judgment

A Rhetorical Analysis Of An Epic Hero
Myths had a impertinent role in Greek civilization. For the sake of this rhetorical analysis a myth is a
story featuring an epic hero typically a demigod who endures a journey with interpersonal and
external conflicts further amplified by supernatural adversaries with powers intent on destroying or
weakening them. Often these epic heroes reflect or touch on the struggles of humanity, and explain
natural phenomena in quest. Evidently implied, Greek Heroes are the unrivaled embodiment of
pathos, ethos, and logos the greek ideals of impulsivity (pathos), image (ethos), and rationality (logos)
or the three modes of argument. Greek leaders supposedly were balanced in all three modes of human
argument discerning howbeit necessary to use one s emotions, logic, or credibility to resolve issues
and convey messages. Upon close inspection of Homer s Iliad, I choose to believe it was the power of
myth and the ideal of the Epic Hero that created the criteria for Greek Leadership. ... Show more

Examples Of Bram Stoker As A Perverted Christ Figure In...
Dracula as a Perverted Christ Figure In Bram Stoker s novel, Dracula, is presented as a perverted
Christ figure because he imitates multiple actions of Christianity, and perverts those ideas. An
example of how Dracula is a perverted Christ figure would be when Dracula forces Mina to drink his
blood, he tries to mimic the Christian Communion, like when Christ gave up his blood for us. In the
novel Dracula also takes the lives of numerous people, just two of them being Renfield, and the
mother looking for her child. Dracula also has the ability to transform into different figures, for
example a bat and a wolf. God is also has the ability to do this, but Dracula uses this power to do

Judas Priest Influence On Society
The heavy metal band Judas Priest was known for being one of the most popular and most respected
heavy metal bands on the planet. Even though they have had many members, they have made a huge
impact in the heavy metal genre. They were hugely influenced by two of the most popular and well
known heavy metal bands of all time.
Judas Priest was influenced by Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Both Black Sabbath and Judas Priest
came from Birmingham, and were heavily influenced by the factories and bleak surroundings of the
area (Bowe 26). Early in their career, Black Sabbath had let Judas Priest borrow their rehearsal space.
One of the first members of Judas Priest had briefly been involved with Earth, which was the band

In 1973, Al Atkins and Chris Campbell left the band because they weren t happy with the band s lack
of money. Sue Halford mentioned her brother, Rob Halford, as an exchange for Al, welcoming him
into the band soon after (Bowe 33). This seemed to turn things around for Judas Priest. In 1978, the
band began to change up their look. Instead of satin bloused, bell bottoms, and wide brimmed hats,
they wore black leather and metal studs (Bowe 40). After the release of Hell Bent for Leather in 1979,
they brought in handcuffs and whips, completing their look. After this, many heavy metal bands had
began to take on the look as well (Bowe 42). CREEM magazine decided to put Judas Priest on the
cover in August 1981 (Bowe 47). Judas Priest s only concert appearance was a huge charity concert in
Philadelphia and London in 1985 to help people in Africa that were starving, and the name of this
organization was Live Aid. In that same year, many heavy metal artists got criticized for their lyrics
(Bowe 53). From all the stress of the Reno trial and constant touring and recording, Rob Halford
wanted a break from the band, officially leaving in 1992. This caused a long, messy fight between him
and the other band members (Bowe 63). Then in 1994, Glenn Tipton started his own career (Bowe

AOL joined hands with Time Warner to create synergy between its online businesses and Warner s
media business.
Two significant factors affected the post merger company. One, the dot com burst meant adverse effect
on AOL s advertising revenues. And two, dial up subscribers decreased thereby affecting revenues and
overall profitability of AOL. A key element in the turnaround strategy should be to offer free content
on its portal. This strategy will benefit AOL in attracting more online users and advertising revenues.
When AOL began operations it soon became the leading company for pay online subscriber service,
bringing easy to use Internet service to more than 30 million users. AOL was mainly based on around
its dial up business. With customers shifting to broadband, AOL was losing subscribers rapidly. The
dial up segment though profitable, was declining in revenues having lost 2.6 million subscribers in a
period of one year. The share price of AOL Time Warner fell by 60% after the merger. The merger was
heavily criticized from all quarters.
Growth in advertising business came with AOL establishing itself as a support service rather than an
internet access provider. Seeing AOL s success Google entered into a global advertising partnership
with the AOL. Google acquired a 5% equity stake in AOL for US$ 1 billion. In broadband, to be able
to beat the competition they should be the first organization to

Ancient Artifacts Of The Great Things That Is Known About...
One of the great things that is known about Darius is his understanding the importance of religions
within his empire. During his stay in Egypt, Darius gave tributes to the Egyptian gods and dedicated
many temples to some of them. Ancient artifacts show that there were sacrifices made to several
deities of different cultures. He supported faiths and religions of his empire as long as the believers
were submissive and peaceful. It was established during Darius reign that the king was a believer in
Ahura Mazda, the god of Zoroastrianism. He believed that Ahura Mazda had given him the divine

During the first year of the reign of Darius, he placed several governors to be in charged of twenty
provincial governorships which watched over the collection of taxes. The inhabitants of these
provinces, each community within its own borders, went on, from year to year, in their various
pursuits of peaceful industry, governed mainly, in their relations to each other, by the natural sense of

Movies Are The Power Of Movies In The World
You humans slaughter each other because of the color of your skin, or your faith, or your politics, or
for no reason at all, too many of you hate easily as you draw breath Magneto. This quote was once
said by the strongest villain in comic book history as he described humans in the war against Mutans.
Throughout the years comic books have become the beacon of hope civilization needed to overcome
the toughest of times. From the Civil war to Nuclear Warfare heroes were created for the purpose of
keeping children s happiness from fainting into darkness. Batman, Superman, Thor, Hulk and She
Thor were the beacon of light of my childhood and the reason why I dreamt about a better civilization.
Comic books have the power to make even famous of people realize how amazing they are as Nicolas
Cage described Are modern mythology, they reflect our fears, embody our ideals, and personalized
our culture. Our civilization has created movies, books, action figures and tv shows as they ingrained
comic books into our everyday culture. We identify heroes by their persona as we have become to
known Superman as the man of steel and Batman as the Dark Knight these characters have paved the
way for new beginnings, ideals that weren t imaginable at the time they were created.

The Pay Gap Between Men And Women
The pay gap between men and women has become quite a topic today. The difference in pay are very
common now in many career paths where men and women are doing the same work amount. It is rare
to think that when men and women are performing the same task and are just as qualified as each
other that they would get paid the same. As the wage gap is being discussed more, the question is why
do men and women have different wages when they are working the same job. While it seems that
men don t have to take as much time off from work or may work more, we have to look at it from
Women s viewpoints also. Women and Men should be paid equally for the work that they perform.
However, if a Man is working a in a factory or any other job that has them constantly lifting things
and a woman works there and they can t do the same as the man can then, the man should receive
more pay. Women and Men should have the same pay unless they are not performing the same task.

Globalization Of The American Style Fast Food
Globalization is one of the most popular issues that have been discussed through the
world by the sociologist for decades.(James A. D, Dick. P, Yongseok Seo 2006)
According to John Tomlinson s (Tomlinson 2006) cognition of globalization. He
interprets that:
Globalization is a complex process because it involves rapid social
change that is occurring simultaneously across a number of dimensions in the world
economy, in politics, in communications, in the physical environment and in culture
and each of these transformations interact with the others. (p. 1)
As far as I am concerned, globalization is happening around daily life. For example,
McDonalds, they start from a small restaurant in California to one of the world s
leading food service retailers, with more than 35000 restaurants in more than a
hundred countries.(McDonald 2014) McDonalds spread the American style fast food
worldwide. This can be seen as a globalization of food culture.
Since the societies are becoming more and more alike nowadays and leading to a
phenomenon known as globalization. Some people afraid that globalization will lead
to the loss of cultural identify while some think it can have a good impact on the
societies. Based on the book《Golden Arches East: McDonald s in East

that it is not only spreading the food culture but also blending with the locals and the

stemming from the throw away culture of today, New York is in a situation where its trash is piling up

the world as it was turned into New York s primary dumping ground for the second half of the 20th

The First Journey to a New Beginning. Here you are Sir, have a nice flight, said the smartly dressed

Contextual Analysis In Stingel v Clark (2006), plaintiff, Carol Ann Stingel sued Geoff Clark over
alleged historical sexual abuse claims dating from the 1970 s. In this case, the High Court had opted
not to follow the earlier House of Lords authority of Stubbings v Webb, which had denied that the
commencement of a limitation period could be delayed until the date of the injured person s

Section 5(1A) of the Limitation of Actions Act 1958 (Vic), which reads as follows: An action for
damages for negligence nuisance or breach of duty (whether the duty exists by virtue of a contract or
of provision made by or under a statute or independently of any contract or any such provision) where
the damages claimed by the plaintiff consist of or include damages in respect of personal injuries
consisting of a disease or disorder contracted by any person may be brought not more than six years

The Issue Of Abortion
In the world today we have a problem with abortion. There are multiple arguments on whether
abortion is right or not. It causes a lot of uproar in America today and even leads to riots. It completely
changes the way people value a human life.
Mothers are just willing to kill a human baby just because they don t want a child. They never even
give the baby a chance to live and it is completely unfair to the child. I have a solution to this problem
and here it is.
I propose that instead of killing the babies that the mother wants aborted, we kill the mothers instead.
When a mother comes into an abortion clinic she will get a surprise. Instead of killing the baby, the
clinic will try to save the baby if possible and just kill the mother. Besides

Chernobyl Meltdown Essay
Analysis of the Chernobyl Meltdown On April 1986, Soviet s Union Chernobyl nuclear plant
exploded letting out a massive amount of radiation that would debate of all Russian citizens for
hundreds of years to come. At exactly 1:21 am. on April, 1986 inChernobyl, a city near the Pripiat
River the No. 4 reactor exploded and released thirty to forty times the radiation of the Nagasaki and
Hiroshima bombing. The exact causes of the explosion are not known , however scientists and
researchers, under thorough investigation, have uncovered possible causes to the explosion.1 The
main reason why the explosion occurred was that, the operators of the plant were attempting to
conduct an experiment with the emergency cooling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At twenty minutes past midnight the operators forgot to set the regulator properly, it was the second
fatal error. Because of the incorrect regulator settings the reactor s power crashed to 30 MW from
1,000 MW which is too low for the test. At that point the operators would have abandoned the
experiment, but they attempted to rescue it, for the next time they would be able to conduct would be
in one year only. The senior authorities who had ordered the test would have been furious and would
have found out the regulator problem. So the operators decided, to pull out the stops to restore the
reactor s power.2 Their third fatal mistake, was the pulling out of control rods. The plant s rule was to
have thirty in at all times however they left all but six. By 1:00 Am the power risen to 200 MW, which
was still to low for the experiment, however the operators continued. In a few minutes they made their
fourth fatal error, by turning on two extra pumps to join the six that wee already cooling the core. This
procedure under such low power caused a massive steam disorder. Their fifth fatal error was the
turning off of the automatic shut off, which would turn off the reactor. At 1:23 a.m. on Saturday April
26, the workers began the actual experiment. They made their sixth error, by turning off the last safety
system. It took the shift manager thirty seconds to realize what was happening and shouted at another

Meaningless Life In Ecclesiastes
After I read Ecclesiastes, I learned that everything is meaningless if you don t believe in God. Our
hearts still have a hole in it and only God could fill up that emptiness in our lives. According to the
writer, he hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to...[him]. All of it is
meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:1 26). This proves that life without God is
meaningless and empty, you would hate life because there isn t a meaning to it. The quote gives us an
example of a meaningless life; it is like chasing after the wind because it s pointless and no use, it isn t
beneficial. This is disappointing to know because I think that life can be meaningful if you make the
best out of it. Try your best in everything and don t give up, don t be lazy and actually try contributing
to this world because a lot of things could surprise you. In Life Shaping Decisions , it states that God
has a plan for everyone and we should follow it, or else you will be tragically disappointed. Solomon
told this in a perspective most people pursue in life, which is a interest centered life. In Life Shaping
Decisions it tells us that doing whatever interests isn t always the smartest way to go, you have to
consider other things. The person in the story just did whatever he wanted to do and at the end he felt
empty and that everything was meaningless. This is because he didn t accept God into his life, so he
didn t follow God s plan. The parable in

Key Lessons For Those Who Lead From The Middle Year Week
Are you a leader but not the leader? That is the category into which most leaders fall. Great things can
be accomplished by those who lead from the middle. They may or may not get the credit. However,
credit is not the goal. The goal is faithfulness, progress, success, change, or resolution depending on
the situation. It does not matter who gets the credit so long as the job gets done. I love and respect my
leader so very much. I also take joy on those occasions where he says or initiates something over
which I had influence. We he wins, I win and all of our staff wins. If the organization does well that is
good for all who are affiliated. Therefore, I am committed to do my best as I lead from the middle. I
shared four key lessons for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will not always get your way. You will encounter some people whose motives are not pure and
their actions will bring hurt to you. What do you do in those circumstances? You must offer genuine
forgiveness and let go of the hurts. If not, you will become the cynic and will be unable to accomplish
the aims described in the previous point. Buddy Hackett once said that while you carry the grudge the
other guy is out dancing. What does that mean? It means you only hurt yourself and not only do you
become an anchor holding back your organization but you also become the anchor to your own
personal development and effectiveness. You will get hurt and when it happens you must work
through it, learn from it, and then let go.
7. Work hard, but not to the neglect of your family. Effective leaders are by nature hard workers and
you should be. However, on this point you should not compromise. Strive to succeed with family and
at work. But if you can only succeed with one, make it your family. Jobs come and go but your family
is a lifetime association and commitment. You can do both. It requires skills at prioritizing,
establishing healthy boundaries, good time management, and a strong work ethic. Do you possess
those four qualities or skills? If not get help because your church, organization, and most importantly
your family need your leadership.
8. Don t dismiss your critics. I ll admit it. I do not like to be criticized. But I do like the result of

  • 2. Counterfeiting Of The United States According to Alan Behr and Sarah Hsia The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection estimates that counterfeiting costs the United States an estimated $200 billion each year (2007). Counterfeit items come in several forms such as bags, money, software, movies, drugs and much more. Many people fail to see that this practice as unethical and harmful towards the company who has manufactured the original item. There are laws in the United States that prohibit people from selling counterfeit items, but there are no punishable laws against the buyers. If there were laws against people who buy counterfeit items, there could possibly be a drop in these items being sold and distributed. Todd Barosky explains that: counterfeiting is one of the oldest crimes in America...nearly two centuries of American history, from the introduction of paper money in the British colonies of North America at the end of the seventeenth century, to the nationalization of the currency by the federal government at the middle of the nineteenth century, experiences with counterfeit money were both frequent and widely shared (2010). Counterfeiting does not only happen in the United States, but in other parts of the world as well. Jills Jusko reported that back in 2006, more than $155 million in counterfeit goods were seized by the U.S government. The goods came from China, 81%, Hong Kong, 6%, Taiwan, 1%, Pakistan, 1%, Korea, 1%, and from other places, 10% (2007). This causes a negative economic effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Public Policy And Creating Solutions For Improvement Essay Examining Public Policy and Creating Solutions for Improvement Reflections on Public Policy The chosen public policy issue is the ongoing effort within nursing to advance the field through taking action. In this case, action takes four distinct activities: advocacy, policy, learning as a lifelong process and involvement in philanthropy. This action can be applied through community based participatory research which is a research partnership seeking the involvement of all members of the community. Under this approach, all participants contribute their knowledge to the process in an effort to better the quality of life in that community members (Israel et al., 2008). It is because there are so many under served populations and in under serving these populations nursing fails to live up to its professional and this is a policy change that must be made. This issue of public policy, that is, the issue of the prevalence of under served populations which clearly requires changing, and the role that nursing can play in this public policy process is discussed at length in Burkhardt and Nathaniel (2013). To influence public policy, nurses must act as professionals with the ability and the responsibility to affect the current and future debate over the delivery of health care. This would seem natural enough as nursing is based on the principle that all people are of value and their health should be advanced throughout every socioeconomic tier of society (Brown, ... Woman focused on relationships and maintaining stability during a crisis. Which was far different from a male point of focus. Although both High Noon by Fred Zinnemann and Madonna of the Prairie by William Koerner convey the Western life of a pioneer woman, Director Fred Zinnemann depicts a western woman who breaks away from western morals and values to do the right thing, whereas Artist William Koerner depicts an authentic pioneer woman who stays within her morals as a western woman. For instance, it is the stereotype that women should get married at a certain age and stay at home cleaning, cooking, and raising kids rather than be out in the work force. Why does receiving a gift put him at a social disadvantage? The economy of gift of Bataille differs from Nietzsche s creditor debtor relationship with regard to the psychology behind these two dynamics. While Bataille delved into the mentality of the giver, who has the upper hand in this power relation, Nietzsche focused on the psychology of the debtor. Bataille construed the economy of gifting as an act out of man s animal factor that goes beyond the want of acquisition a human instinct to win and to overpower. This poem is one of Emily Dickinson s most well known poems and it only includes 12 lines and 3 stanzas. It is an allegorical and metaphorical piece of work that portrays the speaker who died for Beauty while the man beside gave up his life for Truth . This simple and straightforward poem, written in first person, mainly explores the theme death but then also shows beauty and truth through Dickinson s choice of words. Although this poem is daunting and frightening, it is also definitely fascinating and truthful. The first stanza is about the speaker dying for Beauty . It seems that he (we can conclude that the speaker is a he from the poem s later mention of Brethren and Kinsmen ) must have been loved before and had a proper burial. But just before he gets comfortable or can get Adjusted into the Tomb and left alone for too long, he is accompanied by a deceased man who died for Truth in a tomb next to him. The theme death is brought in by the words Tomb and died . Dickinson also used the word scarce to show the reader that it is uncommon to find someone who believes that it is worth dying for beauty too. In the first stanza, the rhyme scheme ABCB is present but this rhyme scheme is only found in stanza one. Emily Dickinson capitalised some of the nouns used in her poem. The Negative Side Although I have stated how the theories of these philosophers in a way go in accordance on how using performance enhancing drugs is morally right they also hold small facts on how they could also be viewed both ways. The theory of utilitarianism that John Stuart Mills brought up has been criticized for many reasons. Critics declare that it does not provide adequate protection for individual rights, as well that not everything can be measured by the same standard, and that happiness is more complex than reflected by the theory. Immanuel Kant is one of those who criticizes the Utilitarianism and argues how the Consequentialist view, by contrast, disputes that moral value lies not in our actions but in the consequences. Camping At Devils Lake The vibrant greens, the hastening winds through the trees, the mosquitoes biting where mosquito spray is lacking, and the raccoons stealing the last box of lucky charms, these are some of the joys experienced in the great outdoors. The outdoors is one of my favorite get away locations. From before my adolescence to this day, I am an outdoorsman: From camping at Devils Lake, to canoeing the Canadian Boundary Waters, and even sailing the Florida Keys. Camping is enjoyable for me because it is a place of freedom, a place of relaxation, and a place where I can create memories with my family and friends. The secluded outdoors, away from cities, is a place broken away from the chains of society. Though campgrounds still have rules, the rules instituted our quite lax in both definition and enforcement. People can often do a lot more in a campground or in nature reserves than in cities or even towns. A minor example of this would be the use of bicycles, in a city bicycles need to ride in the bike lane on the right side of the road, however in a campground you can ride the bike on the road or take it off road onto the trails and explore. Though most campgrounds have rules on where you can ride your bike, the rules are not very strict nor are they very enforced. Since there is only a minute amount of people you encounter while camping it also allows you the freedom of doing whatever you want without the judgmental eyes of society laying upon you. For the sake of this rhetorical analysis a myth is a story featuring an epic hero typically a demigod who endures a journey with interpersonal and external conflicts further amplified by supernatural adversaries with powers intent on destroying or weakening them. • 42. Meaningless Life In Ecclesiastes After I read Ecclesiastes, I learned that everything is meaningless if you don t believe in God. Our hearts still have a hole in it and only God could fill up that emptiness in our lives. According to the writer, he hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to...[him]. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:1 26). This proves that life without God is meaningless and empty, you would hate life because there isn t a meaning to it. The quote gives us an example of a meaningless life; it is like chasing after the wind because it s pointless and no use, it isn t beneficial. This is disappointing to know because I think that life can be meaningful if you make the best out of it. Try your best in everything and don t give up, don t be lazy and actually try contributing to this world because a lot of things could surprise you. • 43. Key Lessons For Those Who Lead From The Middle Year Week Are you a leader but not the leader? That is the category into which most leaders fall. Great things can be accomplished by those who lead from the middle. They may or may not get the credit. However, credit is not the goal. The goal is faithfulness, progress, success, change, or resolution depending on the situation. It does not matter who gets the credit so long as the job gets done. I love and respect my leader so very much. I also take joy on those occasions where he says or initiates something over which I had influence. We he wins, I win and all of our staff wins. If the organization does well that is good for all who are affiliated. Therefore, I am committed to do my best as I lead from the middle. I shared four key lessons for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You will not always get your way. You will encounter some people whose motives are not pure and their actions will bring hurt to you. What do you do in those circumstances? You must offer genuine forgiveness and let go of the hurts. If not, you will become the cynic and will be unable to accomplish the aims described in the previous point. Buddy Hackett once said that while you carry the grudge the other guy is out dancing. What does that mean? It means you only hurt yourself and not only do you become an anchor holding back your organization but you also become the anchor to your own personal development and effectiveness. You will get hurt and when it happens you must work through it, learn from it, and then let go. 7. Work hard, but not to the neglect of your family. Effective leaders are by nature hard workers and you should be. However, on this point you should not compromise. Strive to succeed with family and at work. But if you can only succeed with one, make it your family. Jobs come and go but your family is a lifetime association and commitment. You can do both. It requires skills at prioritizing, establishing healthy boundaries, good time management, and a strong work ethic. Do you possess those four qualities or skills? If not get help because your church, organization, and most importantly your family need your leadership. 8. Don t dismiss your critics. I ll admit it. I do not like to be criticized. But I do like the result of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
