Essay on Birth Control
The Center for Disease Control conducted a study on contraceptive use; their findings concluded four
out of five women have used birth control pills during one point of their lives (Basset). Birth control
pills have been around for over six decades, and their popularity has significantly increased during the
past decade. Thousands of sexually active women are turning to birth control pills as a way to prevent
unplanned pregnancy, regulate periods, and to control acne. Nonetheless, birth control pills are
synthetic hormones that influence the female body in severe ways. In fact, doctors and media are not
presenting the menaces of consuming birth control pills in women; instead, they disguise the risks

As a result, the cervical mucus makes it challenging for sperm to enter the uterus. Estrogen and
progesterone are distributed in excess amounts and deceive the body into thinking it is pregnant.
These contraceptives also cause the uterus lining to thin, in effect; a fertilized egg is less likely to
attach itself to the uterus. (Oral Contraceptives and Cancer Risks) Birth control pills are chemicals and
hormones that women are ingesting religiously on a daily basis. It is of the utmost importance to
examine the effects of birth control pills in women s body. Most birth control pills require a
prescription. Some women might expect the visit to their doctors to be filled with blood work and a
full physical exam. But to their surprise, the doctor typically asks for information regarding the last
date of their menstrual cycle and if they are pregnant. Then the doctor signs off a prescription with no
additional questions asked. These quick visits demonstrate that the majority of doctors are not taking
the time to examine the health of their female patients to determine if they are even healthy candidates
for birth control pills. The majority of doctors must ask more questions regarding weight, smoking
habits, and potential heart disease risks. Jandi DuPree is one of the thousands of women that trust their
doctors for medications. Dupree was 28 years old when she visited her doctor to get her prescription

Women s Gender And Gender Roles
In terms of the heterosexual majority, respectability applied deeply to women and their gender roles as
wives, because it was the way to distinguish between good and oversexed women (Kushner 9/25/15).
The characteristics of women consisted of being pious, pure and religious, as they were the moral
superiors to men (Kushner, 9/25/15). This moral superiority linked to the idea that Cott presents of
female passionlessness, which was the result of subsequent lack of sexual aggressiveness (Cott 1987:
220). Passionlessness however was not simply a gendered characteristic it played a vital sexual as the
controlling factor over hyper sexual husbands (Cott 1978: 235). The very structure of Victorian
marriages relied on women s passionlessness because it supported women s demure and respectable
nature in society, while also keeping men under control and containing sexuality to the home
(Kushner, 9/25/15). The concept of respectability not only shaped how women and men acted in both
sexual and non sexual ways but outlined the ways proper marriages ought to function. In order to
understand the re rise to conservatism in the mid twentieth century post war America, one must
consider the influence of Sexology on society. Sexology which is the study of sexuality, behavior,
functions, and identity gained importance between the late ninetieth century and the early twentieth in
the West. During this time Sexologists like Krafft Ebbing, Kinsey, and Ulricks, studied sexual

Senior Management Retreat
I was tasked with developing an agenda topics for the Senior Management retreat to be held on May
31, 2016. In order to identify the topics for discussion I needed to identify what was the current state
of the company s profitability and what the company is doing to be a socially responsible
organization.
First, I completed a thorough review of the company s current business practices and conducted
several focus groups with employees to discuss their top five ideas and suggestions for improving
their productivity, commitment to the company and overall job satisfaction. The results of these
activities produced several areas of focus SmartShoes senior management team should look at.
Below is a list of the topics as well as my rationale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several responses indicated that they felt ill prepared to provide a high level of productivity.
Particularly when they first joined the company. Still others indicated they felt that they had limited
opportunities for career advancement. As a result of this employees become frustrated and either leave
the company or if they stay become increasingly frustrated, which can result in lost productivity and
poor performance. Which will eventually lead to less than stellar product development and ultimately
a loss in revenue.
By implementing a training program for new staff, can start their jobs with some idea of what they re
supposed to do and how to do it (Section 7. Developing Training Programs for Staff, n.d.)
Additionally, it can show new employees the company is serious about what it does, and therefore
encourage them to be serious about it, too. A solid training program can also significantly reduce
mistakes that cost the organization loss of revenue, production times, and the reputation of their
products (Section 7. Developing Training Programs for Staff, n.d.)
For existing employees a training program also has numerous benefits: It will help them to continually
improve their knowledge, skill sets and keep them fully engaged in their work.
For all of the reasons I ve detailed I believe the implementation of these ideas will result is improving
employee morale, productivity, loyalty

The Marijuana Legalization Movement
The marijuana legalization movement is one of the most controversial social movements of the
modern day. Efforts to reform marijuana policy have been organized since the mid 1900s. There are
two major organizations leading the battle for marijuana decriminalization. The National Organization
for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and the Marijuana Project Policy (MPP) are both
looking to reschedule and eventually legalize marijuana for the use of responsible adults. These two
organizations provide various strategies that, along with additional tactics from other sources, have
strongly influenced the position of the marijuana legalization social movement. The mobilization of
resources is strongly influenced by the two leading organizations ... Show more content on

Many celebrities publically advocate for the legalization of marijuana. Artists like Snoop Dogg, Justin
Timberlake, John legend, and Madonna are just a few of the many in the music industry who advocate
for the legalization of marijuana (Schiff 2014). These artists help the movement by maintaining a
culture upon which the use of marijuana is cool . This promotion of marijuana by such celebrated
people creates a sense of collective identity. Historically, one of the most obvious means through
which group identity has been manifested and shared is through language generally, and music
specifically (Danaher Roscigno:26). Athletes like Michael Phelps, Allen Iverson, and Randy Moss
advocate for the use of marijuana. Politicians like former president Bill Clinton, current president
Barack Obama, and senator John McCain have all been very vocal about reforming the current
marijuana policy. All these public influences help influence cultural outcomes that promote positive
images surrounding marijuana. Media coverage of SMOs is key to both substantiating their claims to
represent groups and developing important cultural outcomes (Goodwin Jasper:312). Ultimately,
public support of marijuana decriminalization from such important characters creates communal
support and strengthens NGO campaign support. To assert the media s influence requires specifying
the structural and instrumental ways in which it can shape collective action across a dispersed
population. On the structure end, the introduction of new media may provide opportunities not directly
associate with collective action, but which alter the leverage and/or autonomy of subgroups (Danaher

The Pros And Cons Of Disabilities
The only disability in life is a bad attitude Scott Hamilton. People who are born physically impaired
do not let that define them or hold them back from being happy. Although, some may say people with
disabilities are treated equally even though they are handicapped, they are wrong. Handicapped people
are treated differently through social interactions because they are Handicapped. People s physical
disability will vary in everyone.
The word handicapped is first recorded in the late 19th century in the sense referring to a person s
mental or physical disabilities. In British English it was the standard term until the 1980s, but it has
been superseded by disabled, or, in reference to mental disability, expressions such as having learning
difficulties or learning disabled. In American English handicapped is still sometimes used, especially
in phrases such as handicapped accessible and handicapped parking. The International Classification
of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) defines disability as an umbrella term for impairments,
activity limitations and participation restrictions. Disability is the interaction between individuals with
a health condition (e.g. cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and depression) and personal and
environmental factors (e.g. negative attitudes, inaccessible transportation and public buildings, and
limited social supports). People have different ways of explaining and knowing what disability really
means.

Perceiving Dogs Equal Vs. Property
Perceiving Dogs Equal vs. Property In general, dogs are associated with loyalty, companionship, and
aid. In Pam Houston s A Blizzard Under Blue Sky, the narrator attempts to treat her depression
through experiencing the adventure of spending a night outside in the cold weather of Utah. Then, the
narrator becomes successful in her adventure with the support and assistance of her two dogs, Hailey
and Jackson. On the contrary, in Jack London s To Build a Fire, a man is traveling along the Yukon
Trail, on his way to his group of friends where he encounters a dog who grows to have a poor
relationship with the man but remains with him until his death. The similarities and differences
between the two relationships make a comment on interactions between humans and animals. The
comparison of these two short stories demonstrates how dogs are only beneficial to humans when they
are deemed an equal and a counterpart, however not as valuable when disrespected through regard as
one s property. The narrator of A Blizzard Under Blue Sky exemplifies the components of a
relationship between a dog and an individual that produces mutual benefit. The essential piece is
equality, which is expressed in both the actions the narrator takes toward the dogs as well as the
dialogue between the three characters: Jackson, Hailey, and the narrator. The existence of dialogue
between them alone reveals equality because dialogue in general is exclusive between two human
characters but in this

E Learning Is A Hot Topic On Education
E learning is a hot topic in education. The use of devices and the internet changes what we see in a
classroom. No longer is a teacher standing in front of a room instructing and then giving a worksheet
as homework. Instead, we now have teachers assisting students to increase their knowledge by using a
device and the internet. This literature review defines the term E learning and gives examples of what
E learning may look like in an elementary classroom. It also examines the advantages and
disadvantages to using technology in an elementary classroom. Finally, this literature review gives the
role of the teacher in an evolving E learning classroom. Research Questions of the Literature Review
The literature review will address the following questions: 1. What are the definitions and examples of
E learning? 2. What are the advantages of E learning? 3. What are the disadvantages of E learning? 4.
What is the role of the teacher in E learning? Literature Review What are the definitions and examples

Interview As A Personal Interview
Stanley Seat is a Biology major attending the University of Maryland. Throughout my interview
process with Stanley, I found common themes of a person who would like to expand their
interpersonal relationships through adventure and experiences. What I take away from Stanley s
interview is that he genuinely cares about helping others, and surrounding himself with people who
would do the same. Stanley wants to grow up to become a doctor/healthcare administrators, and
throughout the interview I saw important traits of a person who would excel in that role. Traits such as
being a caring, insightful, strategic, and productive person are all traits found in his responses, and
would be essential for his professional career. He hopes to work hard at the University of Maryland in
order to get into graduate school. Although Stanley is extremely dedicated to his work, he doesn t let
that consume his life. When asked about the kind of people he would like to be surrounded by, he
responds with I like to be around adventurous people who know how to have fun and live life to the
fullest. I don t want to regret not doing something or always wonder what would have been. This
response really speaks to his ideology of a finite amount of time. I feel like he believes that you can t
live your life cooped up in a bubble. The only thing you have as a take away from life when you grow
older is your family, and the experiences that you accumulate throughout your life. You can t just sit

Human-To-Bear Research Papers
Bears in Florida will be having a bad week in October thanks to the Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission s (FWC) approval of a bear hunt Wednesday. This hunt is Florida s first in
more than two decades. It aims to control increasing bear populations and human to bear conflict.
WHY THE FWC APPROVED THE BEAR HUNT
According to the FWC, hunting supports keeping population size in check, fewer bears being pushed
into neighborhoods and increasing wariness and fear of humans. Bears were removed from Florida s
threatened species list in 2012. About 300 bears are expected to be killed by an unlimited number of
permitted hunters. Florida has an estimated 3,150 black bears in four regions the eastern Panhandle,
Northeast Florida, east central Florida and South Florida where the hunts would be conducted,
according to the Panama City New Herald. The numbers are based on 2002 estimates for the eastern
Panhandle and South Florida, and a 2014 count in the Northeast Florida and east central Florida
regions.
RULES OF THE BEAR HUNT
Bear permits are $100 for Florida residents and $300 for non residents, according to the FWC. Permit
sales end midnight on the night before the seven day hunting season, which begins Oct. 24 and runs
until the 30th. There is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Workplace Mediation

AO1 Describe the causes and effects of workplace conflicts
Conflict is an inevitable and is part of business life, where there are people there will always be
conflict, not all conflict is negative. Some workplace conflict s healthy and if viewed positively,
however where unhealthy conflict is present it has a potential risk to cause the company serious
problems Workplace conflict can be in many forms from serious flare ups to less obvious, but less
destructive forms of negativity. Workplace conflict can be caused by personality clashes or style
differences and personal. Workplace factors such as poor leadership, poor management, unfair

Low trust can paralyze the business because conflict situations are addressed with ridicule, anger, or
silence and results in fear of conflict, and lack of commitment. In the same company the MD promised
staff things but would never carry them out, this made staff frustrated and they did not trust anything
he said and this generated a very poor work environment. Under performance can create more
conflict, have a major effective on the business strategy, productivity, morale of other team members.
Resulting in failure to pass on information or act on information received, withdrawal or non
communicative behaviour, aggressiveness towards others, lengthy absences from the work area,
excessive or unexplained absenteeism, unusually delayed completion of work. In my experience under
performance is generally down to poor management or the style of the manager. Covert sabotage is
deliberate damage to work processes and of management s efforts and usually occurs when employees
are angry at their employer but it can be directed at fellow employee especially when conflict exists. A
good example of this was when I was an apprentice on of my colleagues had the lock of his tool
cabinet filled with glue which meant he could not unlock it and get his tools out to start work. It later
came to light that this was done by one of his colleagues because he was always getting the best jobs
and he was the foreman s favourite. Low morale has a destructive effect on performance,

of camera movement, camera angles, film speed, tone, and music to throw the audience into the thick

This new sense of hope is also reflected by the now yellowish tone. A new frame from inside the
helicopter reveals a bumpy ride as the camera bumps and vibrates with the helicopter. The first time
the audience members are placed in the boots of a soldier is when a high camera angle is used to look
down on the Red Cross Food Distribution Center through the eyes of S.SGT. Matt Eversmann (Josh
Hartnett). The camera perspective then switches to the ground as a vehicle carrying armed men is
tracked by the camera and follows the people rushing to get food by using a crane shot. The camera
switches to a low angle camera shot to show how desperate the starving people are for food that they
begin to fight each other for it, causing the camera to sway back and forth. The music changes from an
upbeat style to a more guitar fueled rock and roll style symbolizing the anger felt by the audience and
soldiers. On another helicopter flight, American oldies can be heard, which conveys that this ride is
not a serious flight like to one before. The soldiers are more relaxed and peer out the helicopter door to
enjoy the Somalian landscape. The yellowish tone switches to a greenish tone as the frame changes to
show Pfc. Todd Blackburn (Orlando Bloom) reporting for duty, suggesting that this is a more serious
part. The camera angle shows the soldier behind the desk, checking Blackburn in, is always looking
up to Blackburn. Even though Blackburn is younger, he has a more heroic

Art has been part of our society since humanity existed. For countless years people been creating,
observing, criticizing and appreciating art. Claude Monet s piece titled Sunrise (Marine) illustrates the
daylight in the industrial port of Le Havre of the north coast, France. This piece was made in March or
April of 1873. The piece s present location is the J. Paul Getty Museum, west pavilion, gallery w204.
The medium is oil on canvas and is next to another piece made by Monet called The Portal of Rouen

Colors are around us and can describe different meanings. When colors are part of an image, painting
or sculpture, however, why do certain colors use and others are not. Monet chose certain colors to
portray different feelings, mood and makes one think. In Patricia Stokes s article Variability,
Constraints, and Creativity explained during her investigation, she decides to investigate Monet s
creativity and separate them into three phases. In phase one, it involved value and wrote: The wheel,
which broke up the light into the four primary hues and their intermediaries, prompted Monet s initial
and initially ill defined goal constraint. In his earlier painting called Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur
(1865), he used earth colors, raw umber, burnt sienna, and blacks. After he stopped using browns and
earth color and later black as well. For Sunrise (1873), he used the colors yellow, orange, blue, green
and brown. What I found interesting is that he muted the colors so the painting looks dull. Even so
orange pops with the muted blue because they are complementary colors that perceive soothing or
balance in the painting.
Paintings that have textures that can be smooth and flat or have tooth and be lumpy which can depend
on the type of paint or how it is applied the surface of a canvas. In many of Monet s Impressionism
paintings, he uses a dry brush technique and created dabs. In Sunrise, the paint is not blended together
instead it is layered, which created a

How Is Hester Prynne A Heroine
The Scarlet Letter is a classic novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is set in puritan times around
the 16th century. The story tells of a women of the name Hester Prynne who commits adultery with a

lives of the people in Boston, Massachusetts from the point of the beginning of Pearl s life, to the

Hester Prynne is a heroine and has many traits of being so in this book. I believe that she is a heroine
because she was brave, she was faithful to who she really loved, and she was calm through it all.

Causes Behind the Ultimate Problem There were several causes behind the ultimate problems
Magnolia suffered. This seems to have stemmed from the lack of accountability and responsibility
with the financial management. First, Mary had written a budget based on funds that were not
guaranteed. She even based raising money for the organization on higher grants for 2002. Since the
2002 budget was written on false grants, this caused a huge problem and several staff members got
laid off. This caused the organization to come to a stand still. This problem could have been solved a
few different ways. Either by writing a budget with the grants and funds Mary knew 100% would be
available. Or she could have written the budget with the NYC grant and had a back up budget incase it
was not renewed. This way the board of directors could have seen either way Mary had a budget that
could actually be carried out. Secondly, in 2001 the organization used the remainder of the grant to
increase other administrative services. The surplus from the grants in 2001 should have been budgeted
into the growing organization and the services provided, not administrative services. The identification
of a human service agency s programs, the creation of a program structure, the assignment of program

Being Human In Book I Of Nicomachean Morals
Humans have come a long way. To think that the only way you could create a fire was to use sticks
and coal and now it only takes a lighter or a match to create a fire. To think that we as humans use to
think the world was flat and now where flying in space to different planets. As humans we have done
so much in this world but there are still a lot of question that still are unanswered and the biggest one
is what does it mean to be human?
There are a wide range of implications to being human. Being human means being an ordinary that
tries to understand its otherworldly presence. We are not human, we are basically being human. If we
were not to be conceived as people, we may have been conceived as creatures. In Book I of
Nicomachean Morals, Aristotle presents his contention by recognizing two sorts of finishes which
individuals make progress toward. He states, For the end is here and there a movement, in some cases

choice to take part in idealistic activities reliably. As Aristotle states in Book III of Nicomachean

Reason is an immediate accomplice in the choice to be ethically idealistic if we take a gander at the

The Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor
Many American s were shocked by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, however there were many
signs that the tensions between the two countries was growing. Japan was desperate for economic
growth. In 1915 Japan issued the Twenty One Demands to China in order to gain control in certain
areas of the country. These demands were in conflict of the Open Door U.S. policy to leave China a
sovereign country. Leaving China sovereign would allow all other countries to have equal access to
Chinese trade. Tensions were made even greater by the Great Depression in the 1930 s. The world
could not survive without equal trade with China. Since early 1941, the U.S. had been supporting
Great Britain in its fight against the Nazis. It had also been pressuring Japan to stop its military growth
in Asia and the Pacific. Japan relied on the on the U.S. imports of steel and oil to continue their attacks
on China and French Indochina. The U.S. had tried to remain neutral during the Japanese struggle for
power but began to lay economic and military sanctions over Japan and China in order to end the
struggle. This did nothing more than anger the Japanese and led directly into a day that would live in
infamy with the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto imagined the
Pearl Harbor attack and Captain Minoru Genda planned it. The goal of their plan was to weaken the
U.S. Navy in the Pacific. This would give them a buffer to continue their expansion into China

August Wilson Fences Literary Devices
New Criticism is an unusual and dying theory in this generation. In today s age, people analyze and
rate a piece of text on impact it has on the individual person or society. New Criticism eliminates
feelings, ratings and the impact a piece of had but rather focuses on the text itself. New Criticism,
incorporating Formalism, examines the relationships between a text s ideas and its form, between
what a text says and the way it says it. New Critics may find tension, irony, or paradox in this relation,
but they usually resolve it into unity and coherence of meaning (Biddle 100). Many theorist call this
the science of literature because it focuses on vocabulary, sound, imagery, narrative structure, point of
view, and other factors that dissect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Troy is a strict person but through his conversions it shows he cares. He plays the paternal role, head
of the household just as traditional African American families of the 1950s. He is also a character who
unconsciously creates self illusions which drives him to create conflicts with the people around him. A
problem that surfaces from these self illusions is Troy s inability to accept the decisions of others. He
is set in his own beliefs and doesn t agree with the choices anyone makes if it doesn t follow his own
thought process. This issue stems from Troy s own life story of going from a major baseball
opportunity to life as he now knows it, working a dead end job. This devastation has led Troy to be
cold hearted and nearly unaccepting of the great opportunities that others may be presented. Although

Technology Of The Twentieth Century
Technology has managed to consume most people in the twentieth century. Whether its your laptop,
your cell phone, or the latest television serious you ve managed to find yourself hooked on; theres
something thats gotten everyone interested. Depending on if you re into texting, the latest Netflix
series, watching the news, or playing video games, technology of the twentieth century has managed
to intrigue just about everyone. While there are many benefits that technology has to offer, the world
doesn t know how to live without it anymore. People find themselves lost without their Iphone, Gps,

everyday routine for us. Whether its texting, snapchatting, emailing, or constantly picking up the

like this (believe it or not) and humans were never supposed to rely so heavily on inanimate objects.
We are constantly being updated on what is going on in the world. Scrolling through twitter or just

Temple University Stakeholder Analysis
Temple University initiated to develop 35,000 seat football stadium with an estimated cost of $100
million in the campus area of Philadelphia (Clearing the Way for a Football Stadium. Philly.com). The
objective of this stakeholder analysis paper is to identify the most powerful and influential
stakeholders of Temple University stadium using three attributes power, legitimacy and urgency.
There are two divisions of stakeholders Primary and Secondary Stakeholders. According to Clarkson

between each other and without which the organization/Institute cannot survive. On the other hand,
Secondary stakeholders are those who don t have direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t have ownership or legal rights. Their interests are categorized in four different areas which
are career stability, student/school welfare, freedom of choice and the overall quality of education. If
Temple invest on developing a stadium and if it doesn t go well then it might affect on employees
career stability as they may redistribute employees to other departments. It could affect overall quality
of education/academics to Athletics. Also if the stadium moves in the campus, obviously there would
be a change in the culture hence it will affect student welfare. Through survey result, we found that
66% people are against the building of a new stadium. So, if I think about the freedom of choice, it
looks like most of the employees don t think it would be a good idea to build a new stadium because it
only going to waste money. Temple could provide money to develop community and invest on their
education system. There are two stakeholders who have strong relationships with each other. I think
that the board of trustees and the football program should work together as the project operation
would depend on their decision. TU doesn t have Legal responsibilities or Philanthropic obligation
towards their employees. However, they have Economic responsibilities. They need to think about the
infrastructure and the cost to develop the stadium. It could affect negatively on

Collins talks about the current snowstorm in the United States and how it is used for everyone s

George W. Bush, and Barack Obama use the occasion of snowfall for their own purposes. The author

The expression is frequently applied to people who abuse their authority to avoid criticism or to
deflect guilt or mistake. Therefore, I understand that the man with the snow job here implies a group
of government official. The following metaphor is made when she introduces the email sent from
Rahm Emanuel who is in the race for Chicago mayor. The author says that Rahm wasted no time in
sending off a storm related e mail, offering a few helpful tips on how to weather the weather.
(Collins). Rahm Emanuel is giving some snowstorm survival tips that every citizen already knows. Is
it difficult for Chicagoans to survive a snowstorm without Rahm s leadership?
Another metaphor is made when she says: We are sick of bad weather and looking for a dumping
place for all our bad vibrations (Collins). In this case, bad weather does not literally mean climate
change. It implies the bad political and economical situations that people have been undergoing
recently such as pension problem, political corruption, and global warming. A dumping place can be
considered as a specific person who we can blame to.
To support for the sarcastic tone, Collins additionally makes a sophisticated simile: We would like to
blame one specific person like the evil queen in the movie Red Sonja who used a magic orb to destroy
entire civilizations with terrible storms until she was vanquished by Red Sonja and Arnold
Schwarzenegger. (Collins). Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 38th

The night sky portrayed by van Gogh in the Starry Night painting is filled with whirling clouds,
shining stars, and a bright sickle shaped moon. The setting is one so that viewers can relate to and van
Gogh´s swirling sky directs the viewer´s eye around the painting, with spacing between the stars and
the curving silhouette creating a dot to dot effect. These internal elements secure the fluidity and such
silhouette was important for the artist even though they became less significant for other
Impressionists. Therefore, Starry Night´s composition was different from the Impressionist technique

The artist knew that his Starry Night composition was slightly surreal and stylized; in a letter to his

The Prius Of The Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius is the most popular gasoline electric hybrid vehicle in the world. Launched in 2001
in the United States, Prius is derived from the Latin term to go before, an apt moniker for this ground
breaking, front wheel drive model.
2016 to Present: Toyota Prius
The fourth generation Toyota Prius was released for the 2016 model year. As before, it is a five door
hatchback and is categorized as a midsize model with room for five. Four trim levels are available:
Two, Three, Four, and Five.
The styling direction of the latest Prius complements the Toyota Mirai, its hydrogen powered electric
vehicle. The current Prius maintains the slippery profile of past models while bringing in sharper
accents, deeper body sculpting, and a more rakish profile.
All fourth generation models are marked by sleek headlamp assemblies, a narrow upper grille, and a
large lower grille opening, the latter honed in by deep embrasures. From the sides, a sloping roof line,
a rising belt line and deep sculpting along the rocker panel is evident.
At the rear, the Prius liftgate is split by a rear spoiler. Dramatic combination lamps mimic the style of
the headlamps; pronounced body sculpting is also evident.
Inside, the cabin features bucket seats up front and a 60 40 split folding bench seat with a center arm
rest in the second row. The Toyota Prius has digital instrumentation and color display featuring such
hybrid information as an energy monitor, eco savings record, and a drive monitor.

COMPARISON OF JAPANESE AND AMERICAN CULTURES
As Mahatma Gandhi said, No culture can live, if it attempts to be exclusive (Mahatma). Our culture
identifies who we are and how we behave in social environments and provides us with a foundation in
which to live our lives and raise our families. Each individual culture has certain customs and
courtesies that are important. Exposure to the cultures of others can be intimidating and can leave a
person feeling confused and unsure about how they fit in (Schaefer 60). Culture shock can leave a
person feeling out of place in an unfamiliar culture (Schaefer 60). Our diverse societies demand
understanding and acceptance of other cultures. Learning and understanding these cultures before

Many of the customs followed by Americans come from the upbringing of the individual. As adults,
Americans may form their own special customs that will be unique for their family. The greetings and
visiting customs may vary from family to family, but generally most Americans have a simplistic
approach. American greetings are generally informal. Men and women greet each other with a smile

Big Bang Light Elements
Elements are substances that cannot be separated into smaller substances and are made up entirely of
one type of atom. Naturally existing elements can be categorized as either light elements or heavy
elements. During the Big Bang light elements were formed such as hydrogen, lithium, lithium and
deuterium. The heavy elements originated from Stellar Nucleosynthesis. Heavy elements, however,
are formed such as uranium and iron are formed through Stellar Nucleosynthesis while materials
heavier than this are formed through a supernova.
Soon after the big bang the cosmic dust as well as gases combined and cooled off together to form
stars. The nuclear fusion in stars converts hydrogen into helium and is a continuous process in the
stars until hydrogen runs out at the core of the star. When hydrogen runs out, helium atoms fuse to

Ionic bonds, on the other hand, occur when two metals completely transfer electrons between them.
Hydrogen has only one electron that goes to the lowest energy orbital hence its electronic structure is
1s1. Carbon, on the other hand, has six electrons hence the electronic structure is 1s22s22px12py1.
Alkanes are formed through atomic bonds formed between carbon and hydrogen. For example,
methane, CH4 has a tetrahedral shape based on the four atoms bonding with the central carbon atom.
Each hydrogen atom contributes one electron equivalent to one C H bond but still, there are still 2p

Analysis Of Hearts In Atlantis
The novella Hearts and the four stories together signify a shift from an age of innocence when three
friends from a Connecticut neighborhood enjoyed a simple childhood, free of violence, heartbreak,
and protest through a ferocious era of change during the Vietnam War, and the pains of growing up, to
a period where Carol, Sully John and Willie try to live their lives with the mistakes they ve made and
with the heavy burden of looking back at the war and those lives and events that have impacted their
own. Further, it describes a story that symbolizes King s assertion that his generation had the chance
to change the world, but the turbulent years during the Vietnam War destroyed that hope, and those in
his generation either sold out their values and conformed or were destroyed by alcohol, drugs or
disease.
Hearts in Atlantis is unique in that although there are five different stories it is less about following
each of those stories individually but rather following the characters through each story noting what
year it is in their life. First, Carol is a main character in both Low Men and Hearts, and in the final
story Heavenly Shades (and a supporting character in Blind Willie and Why We re in Vietnam). In
Low Men, she is a young girl growing up in fictional Harwich, Connecticut (suburb of Bridgeport)
with her neighborhood friends Bobby and Sully John. She is more perceptive than the boys, at first not

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Persecution
When you think yours is the only true path you forever chain yourself to judging others and narrow

It Is Efficient When Copying Information
It is efficient when copying information.
Being double stranded means that when the DNA helicase enzyme unzips it, information can be
copied from both strands at the same time. DNA polymerase is responsible for attaching free DNA
nucleotides to the open DNA strands. The DNA helicase enzyme will not stop till it reaches the end of
the strand. Same as the DNA polymerase. When DNA is copied from both the complementary strand
and the template strand, this process is called semi conservative replication. Its information can be
copied easily.
Being single stranded means that the side with the bases are not paired to another strand. When it is
making the proteins, protein synthesis, it will be easy to for the amino acids to attach. mRNA leaves
the nucleus with the copied information and attaches to the ribosome in the cytoplasm. mRNA will
wait for amino acids molecules to attach. If the mRNA was double stranded, it would take more time
for the amino acids to attach.
It is stronger. Having two strands bonded together makes DNA stronger. The strands are joined
together by hydrogen bonds. Hydrogens are very strong bonds. DNA is stable in alkaline environment.
It is lighter to carry around. Since mRNA has to move from inside the nucleus to the cytoplasm.

quarter of 2000. In October 2001employment fell by 439,000 jobs, and unemployment rate soared
from 4.9% to 5.4%. Over 500,000 jobs were lost in the recession and a further one million jobs were
destroyed in the weak job loss recovery from November 2001 to June 2003. People who lived below
the poverty line jumped from 31.06 million to 34.06 million by 2002. This recession could have been
avoided, however the argument against government intervention using discretionary fiscal policy to
tackle recession accentuates the long time lags involved in altering fiscal policy in USA. There was
proof in 2000 that the USA economy was slowing. Congress passed a tax cut in 2001, but it took
Congress until March 2002 to pass the Economy Recovery Act to provide further inducement to the

The First Evolution Of Astronomy
Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences which is the study of celestial objects, the physics , chemistry,
evolutions and especially in the discovery and observation of transient phenomena that originate
outside the Earth.
Astronomy has seen 3 scientific revolutions in cosmology. The first evolution is initiated by Claudius
Ptolemy in the 2nd Century uses the Physics of Aristotle to demonstrate the model of Earth centered
cosmology. At that time , we had to use different laws for Earth and the cosmos which was not unified.
Ptolemy s system predicts planet locations precisely in hundred years until the European Renaissance
( XVI and XVII ), due to the contributions of Issac Newton, Johannes Kepler and Galileo Galilei in
physics, Heliocentric (Sun centered) model was initiated by Nicolaus Copernicus was then being
accepted. Recently, by the developments of technology and the breakthrough of modern physics,
Edwin Hubble had succeeded in publishing a new theory : Big Bang Theory(based on the Physics of
Einstein).
Observations on the expansion of the universe is one of the prerequisites for building up the model of
the evolution of the universe s most widely recognized today, the Big Bang model.
INTRODUCTION
The hot Big Bang (standard) cosmology will likely be viewed as one of the intellectual triumphs of the
twentieth century. It provides a tested account of the Universe from a fraction of a second after the
beginning until the present 10 to 15 billion years later, as well as

Farm Descriptive Essay
The Farm Awakens
The arrival of the six children wearing wrinkled clothes and half shut eyes ironically revived the
empty ranch and brought life back into each and every crevice. The rusty gates creaked as they swung
open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of Nevada. Two cars,
filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of civilization. They arrived at
night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally blanketed by the bright streets back
home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the sleeping animals, but because of the
grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s noise bounced between the mountain sides
and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the white picket fence lining the house and duffle
bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty
much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and
brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the outside world was forgotten as they admired the
inside of their home for the week.
When the door opened, 5 pairs of boots stomped inside, shuffling their feet along the thick, bristly rug
that read Welcome Home! . As their heads revolved around the room, Dylan and Grace, the two
oldest, led the pack of children naively glancing past the cowhide rugs and rustic furniture the parents
admired. They traveled room to

Essay History of Web Design
Web Design is a field that has been around for only thirty years, but has evolved drastically throughout
that time. HTML has changed much, and new scripting languages such as CSS and JavaScript to name
two, have arisen to help tackle the challenge that web development can be. From basic text pages to
fully interactive sites, the world of web development has made significant leaps consistently
throughout its short lifetime.
In the 1960 s a concept for HTML was created by Ted Nelson, a Harvard graduate. His work was
never used until the 1980 s, when the internet was introduced because of a lack of need for it. At the
time, HTML was the only option for web development, and there was not much freedom when it came
to design. Sites were basic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No longer are plugins a necessity to add multimedia content.
Another large part of today s web design scene is mobile web development. With so many people
owning phones and other mobile devices, mobile development has become a necessity in a world of
technology that is becoming increasingly smaller and more portable. Statistics show that over twenty
percent of Google searches are done on a mobile device, and that twenty five percent of internet users
access the internet exclusively from their mobile devices. The need for mobile web development is
growing fast. Mobile web design focuses on simplification. It is designed to be simpler on a smaller
screen, making navigation easier. A drawback is that using Flash is not possible currently, which was a
game changer in early web design.
The future of web design is not clear. Many people make the judgment of what it is going to be. Some
people predict that responsive, all on one page websites that flow easily through all browser types,
because of the rise in mobile users. Other people will say that the future is programs such as Adobe
Reflow and Macaw, which allow web designers to draw websites, which creates code to suit the site as
it is drawn. Others say that fast, responsive sites are the future, to level out loading speeds across all
devices. They could all be right. One thing is for certain though, the traditional form of creating sites
will be taken over

Andrew Murray Religion
Introduction
Andrew Murray was born in Cape Town, South Africa; Murray became a noted missionary leader. His
father was a Scottish Presbyterian serving the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, and his
mother had connections with both French Huguenots and German Lutherans. This background to
some extent explains his ecumenical spirit. He was educated at Aberdeen University, Scotland, and at
Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After ordination in 1848 he served pastorates at Bloemfontein,
Worcester, Cape Town, and Wellington. He helped to found what is now the University College of the
Orange Free State and the Stellenbosch Seminary He served as Moderator of the Cape Synod of the
Dutch Reformed Church and was president of both the YMCA (1865) and the South Africa General
Mission (1888 1917), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I joke that he is a dead mentor to me, because when I read his writings there is a longing in me to
imitate his faith, his passion for God, his conviction about being holy, his understanding about the
grace of God. I admire just how plainly and affectionately he wrote about heavenly things as though
he truly understood them. I just sit amazed at what God revealed to him and wonder if I will ever truly
know without a shadow of a doubt the things he speaks about. His writings are not just fluff, but are
the meat and potatoes of Christianity. If you read them you will not be disappointed, but you will be
challenged and inspired to believe you really can be godly through Jesus Christ. This is one of my
favorite books, perhaps because it provoked such thoughts of what true surrender is in the life of the
Christian. Should you ever find yourself driven to know the truth about the surrendered life, select this
book and encounter the concepts within. I would recommend this book to current believers who wish
to take their relationship with the Lord to the next level. His writing is geared towards adults, as the
language is appropriate for advanced

New York City Transportation
Transportation New York City s water transport started to grow rapidly in the 19th century.
Steamboats gave quick, solid associations from New York Harbor to other Hudson River and
waterfront ports, and later neighborhood steam ships permitted suburbanites to live a long way from
their working environments. The finish in 1825 of the upstate Erie Canal, spreading over the Hudson
River and Lake Erie, made New York the most connected between Europe and America. The Gowanus
Canal and different works were worked to handle the growing traffic, all existing shorelines were now
fixed with docks. The Morris Canal and Delaware and Raritan Canal were parts of the broad
arrangement of new foundation serving the city with coal and different items. The ... Show more

The canals were initially built the Industrial Revolution for the vehicle of coal, raw materials and
food. Despite the fact that they now convey couple of merchandise, they are prominent with private
narrowboat clients and relaxation cruisers, and a general water transport benefit works along the
Regent s Canal amid the late spring months. The river thames were the extent of the London Bridge,
and to considerable art well upstream of Greater London. Truly, the stream was one of London s
principle transport corridors. In spite of the fact that this is no more drawn out the case, traveler
administrations have seen something of a recovery since the creation in 1999 of London River
Services, an arm of Transport for London. LRS now directs and advances a little scale system of
waterway transport worker administrations and countless travels working on the stream. Water crafts
are possessed and worked by various privately owned businesses, and LRS oversees five of focal

Inconsistency In Mermaids
Mermaids, half human half fish, have been the subject of sailors fishtails for hundreds of years.
Obviously the idea of mermaids is nothing but mythology, nevertheless, you still find people trying to
prove the existence of these mythical beings. Popular culture has depicted mermaids in two drastically
different ways. One, as beautiful creatures able to draw in anyone without saying a word, who will do
no harm to humans; some go as far as saying they will help humans. The other, as evil conniving
creatures, eager to lead men to their deaths. If we use the tools Carl Sagan has given us in his Baloney
Detection Toolkit, we can easily debunk the idea of mermaids. Right away applying the idea of
inconsistency is easy to do. Inconsistency is when

Freshman Convocation Essay
Freshman Convocation Going in to tonight I did not know what to expect. I had already read Mr.
Khayat s book, so I was familiar with his accomplishments. One thing that is underappreciated at the
University is the way the culture has evolved from what it used to be. Maybe it is from the lack of
knowledge today s student s have. From being a primarily white college, to having a very diverse class
of students, the University of Mississippi has for sure overcome more mediocrity than any university
in the country. If anyone who was unfamiliar with the school s past, Robert Khayat surly opened their
eyes tonight. The one thing that really stood out to me was how Mr. Khayat did so poorly in his
Chemistry class that allot of students would

Essay on Birth Control The Center for Disease Control conducted a study on contraceptive use; their findings concluded four out of five women have used birth control pills during one point of their lives (Basset). Birth control pills have been around for over six decades, and their popularity has significantly increased during the past decade. Thousands of sexually active women are turning to birth control pills as a way to prevent unplanned pregnancy, regulate periods, and to control acne. Nonetheless, birth control pills are synthetic hormones that influence the female body in severe ways. Estrogen and progesterone are distributed in excess amounts and deceive the body into thinking it is pregnant. These contraceptives also cause the uterus lining to thin, in effect; a fertilized egg is less likely to attach itself to the uterus. (Oral Contraceptives and Cancer Risks) Birth control pills are chemicals and hormones that women are ingesting religiously on a daily basis. It is of the utmost importance to examine the effects of birth control pills in women s body. Most birth control pills require a prescription. Some women might expect the visit to their doctors to be filled with blood work and a full physical exam. But to their surprise, the doctor typically asks for information regarding the last date of their menstrual cycle and if they are pregnant. Then the doctor signs off a prescription with no additional questions asked. These quick visits demonstrate that the majority of doctors are not taking the time to examine the health of their female patients to determine if they are even healthy candidates for birth control pills. The majority of doctors must ask more questions regarding weight, smoking habits, and potential heart disease risks. • 3. Women s Gender And Gender Roles In terms of the heterosexual majority, respectability applied deeply to women and their gender roles as wives, because it was the way to distinguish between good and oversexed women (Kushner 9/25/15). The characteristics of women consisted of being pious, pure and religious, as they were the moral superiors to men (Kushner, 9/25/15). This moral superiority linked to the idea that Cott presents of female passionlessness, which was the result of subsequent lack of sexual aggressiveness (Cott 1987: 220). Passionlessness however was not simply a gendered characteristic it played a vital sexual as the controlling factor over hyper sexual husbands (Cott 1978: 235). The very structure of Victorian marriages relied on women s passionlessness because it supported women s demure and respectable nature in society, while also keeping men under control and containing sexuality to the home (Kushner, 9/25/15). The concept of respectability not only shaped how women and men acted in both sexual and non sexual ways but outlined the ways proper marriages ought to function. In order to understand the re rise to conservatism in the mid twentieth century post war America, one must consider the influence of Sexology on society. Sexology which is the study of sexuality, behavior, functions, and identity gained importance between the late ninetieth century and the early twentieth in the West. During this time Sexologists like Krafft Ebbing, Kinsey, and Ulricks, studied sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to identify the topics for discussion I needed to identify what was the current state of the company s profitability and what the company is doing to be a socially responsible organization. First, I completed a thorough review of the company s current business practices and conducted several focus groups with employees to discuss their top five ideas and suggestions for improving their productivity, commitment to the company and overall job satisfaction. A solid training program can also significantly reduce mistakes that cost the organization loss of revenue, production times, and the reputation of their products (Section 7. Efforts to reform marijuana policy have been organized since the mid 1900s. There are two major organizations leading the battle for marijuana decriminalization. The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and the Marijuana Project Policy (MPP) are both looking to reschedule and eventually legalize marijuana for the use of responsible adults. These two organizations provide various strategies that, along with additional tactics from other sources, have strongly influenced the position of the marijuana legalization social movement. The mobilization of resources is strongly influenced by the two leading organizations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many celebrities publically advocate for the legalization of marijuana. Artists like Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, John legend, and Madonna are just a few of the many in the music industry who advocate for the legalization of marijuana (Schiff 2014). These artists help the movement by maintaining a culture upon which the use of marijuana is cool . This promotion of marijuana by such celebrated people creates a sense of collective identity. Historically, one of the most obvious means through which group identity has been manifested and shared is through language generally, and music specifically (Danaher Roscigno:26). Athletes like Michael Phelps, Allen Iverson, and Randy Moss advocate for the use of marijuana. Politicians like former president Bill Clinton, current president Barack Obama, and senator John McCain have all been very vocal about reforming the current marijuana policy. All these public influences help influence cultural outcomes that promote positive images surrounding marijuana. Media coverage of SMOs is key to both substantiating their claims to represent groups and developing important cultural outcomes (Goodwin Jasper:312). Ultimately, public support of marijuana decriminalization from such important characters creates communal support and strengthens NGO campaign support. To assert the media s influence requires specifying the structural and instrumental ways in which it can shape collective action across a dispersed population. On the structure end, the introduction of new media may provide opportunities not directly associate with collective action, but which alter the leverage and/or autonomy of subgroups (Danaher ... People who are born physically impaired do not let that define them or hold them back from being happy. Although, some may say people with disabilities are treated equally even though they are handicapped, they are wrong. Handicapped people are treated differently through social interactions because they are Handicapped. People s physical disability will vary in everyone. The word handicapped is first recorded in the late 19th century in the sense referring to a person s mental or physical disabilities. In British English it was the standard term until the 1980s, but it has been superseded by disabled, or, in reference to mental disability, expressions such as having learning difficulties or learning disabled. In American English handicapped is still sometimes used, especially in phrases such as handicapped accessible and handicapped parking. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) defines disability as an umbrella term for impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. Disability is the interaction between individuals with a health condition (e.g. cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and depression) and personal and environmental factors (e.g. negative attitudes, inaccessible transportation and public buildings, and limited social supports). In Pam Houston s A Blizzard Under Blue Sky, the narrator attempts to treat her depression through experiencing the adventure of spending a night outside in the cold weather of Utah. Then, the narrator becomes successful in her adventure with the support and assistance of her two dogs, Hailey and Jackson. On the contrary, in Jack London s To Build a Fire, a man is traveling along the Yukon Trail, on his way to his group of friends where he encounters a dog who grows to have a poor relationship with the man but remains with him until his death. The similarities and differences between the two relationships make a comment on interactions between humans and animals. The comparison of these two short stories demonstrates how dogs are only beneficial to humans when they are deemed an equal and a counterpart, however not as valuable when disrespected through regard as one s property. The narrator of A Blizzard Under Blue Sky exemplifies the components of a relationship between a dog and an individual that produces mutual benefit. The essential piece is equality, which is expressed in both the actions the narrator takes toward the dogs as well as the dialogue between the three characters: Jackson, Hailey, and the narrator. Stanley wants to grow up to become a doctor/healthcare administrators, and throughout the interview I saw important traits of a person who would excel in that role. Traits such as being a caring, insightful, strategic, and productive person are all traits found in his responses, and would be essential for his professional career. This hunt is Florida s first in more than two decades. It aims to control increasing bear populations and human to bear conflict. WHY THE FWC APPROVED THE BEAR HUNT According to the FWC, hunting supports keeping population size in check, fewer bears being pushed into neighborhoods and increasing wariness and fear of humans. Bears were removed from Florida s threatened species list in 2012. About 300 bears are expected to be killed by an unlimited number of permitted hunters. Florida has an estimated 3,150 black bears in four regions the eastern Panhandle, Northeast Florida, east central Florida and South Florida where the hunts would be conducted, according to the Panama City New Herald. The numbers are based on 2002 estimates for the eastern Panhandle and South Florida, and a 2014 count in the Northeast Florida and east central Florida regions. The first time the audience members are placed in the boots of a soldier is when a high camera angle is used to look down on the Red Cross Food Distribution Center through the eyes of S.SGT. Matt Eversmann (Josh Hartnett). The camera perspective then switches to the ground as a vehicle carrying armed men is tracked by the camera and follows the people rushing to get food by using a crane shot. The camera switches to a low angle camera shot to show how desperate the starving people are for food that they begin to fight each other for it, causing the camera to sway back and forth. The music changes from an upbeat style to a more guitar fueled rock and roll style symbolizing the anger felt by the audience and soldiers. On another helicopter flight, American oldies can be heard, which conveys that this ride is not a serious flight like to one before. The soldiers are more relaxed and peer out the helicopter door to enjoy the Somalian landscape. The yellowish tone switches to a greenish tone as the frame changes to show Pfc. In phase one, it involved value and wrote: The wheel, which broke up the light into the four primary hues and their intermediaries, prompted Monet s initial and initially ill defined goal constraint. In his earlier painting called Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur (1865), he used earth colors, raw umber, burnt sienna, and blacks. After he stopped using browns and earth color and later black as well. For Sunrise (1873), he used the colors yellow, orange, blue, green and brown. What I found interesting is that he muted the colors so the painting looks dull. Even so orange pops with the muted blue because they are complementary colors that perceive soothing or balance in the painting. Paintings that have textures that can be smooth and flat or have tooth and be lumpy which can depend on the type of paint or how it is applied the surface of a canvas. This seems to have stemmed from the lack of accountability and responsibility with the financial management. First, Mary had written a budget based on funds that were not guaranteed. She even based raising money for the organization on higher grants for 2002. Since the 2002 budget was written on false grants, this caused a huge problem and several staff members got laid off. This caused the organization to come to a stand still. This problem could have been solved a few different ways. Either by writing a budget with the grants and funds Mary knew 100% would be available. Or she could have written the budget with the NYC grant and had a back up budget incase it was not renewed. This way the board of directors could have seen either way Mary had a budget that could actually be carried out. Secondly, in 2001 the organization used the remainder of the grant to increase other administrative services. The surplus from the grants in 2001 should have been budgeted into the growing organization and the services provided, not administrative services. There are a wide range of implications to being human. Being human means being an ordinary that tries to understand its otherworldly presence. We are not human, we are basically being human. If we were not to be conceived as people, we may have been conceived as creatures. As Aristotle states in Book III of Nicomachean Morals, Now the ethics, as we say, are intentional, since in certainty we are ourselves in a way together in charge of our conditions of character, and by having the kind of character we have we set out the kind of end we do (70). Japan was desperate for economic growth. In 1915 Japan issued the Twenty One Demands to China in order to gain control in certain areas of the country. These demands were in conflict of the Open Door U.S. policy to leave China a sovereign country. Leaving China sovereign would allow all other countries to have equal access to Chinese trade. Tensions were made even greater by the Great Depression in the 1930 s. The world could not survive without equal trade with China. Since early 1941, the U.S. had been supporting Great Britain in its fight against the Nazis. It had also been pressuring Japan to stop its military growth in Asia and the Pacific. Japan relied on the on the U.S. imports of steel and oil to continue their attacks on China and French Indochina. The U.S. had tried to remain neutral during the Japanese struggle for power but began to lay economic and military sanctions over Japan and China in order to end the struggle. This did nothing more than anger the Japanese and led directly into a day that would live in infamy with the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. In today s age, people analyze and rate a piece of text on impact it has on the individual person or society. New Critics may find tension, irony, or paradox in this relation, but they usually resolve it into unity and coherence of meaning (Biddle 100). Being double stranded means that when the DNA helicase enzyme unzips it, information can be copied from both strands at the same time. DNA polymerase is responsible for attaching free DNA nucleotides to the open DNA strands. The DNA helicase enzyme will not stop till it reaches the end of the strand. Same as the DNA polymerase. When DNA is copied from both the complementary strand and the template strand, this process is called semi conservative replication. Its information can be copied easily. Being single stranded means that the side with the bases are not paired to another strand. When it is making the proteins, protein synthesis, it will be easy to for the amino acids to attach. mRNA leaves the nucleus with the copied information and attaches to the ribosome in the cytoplasm. mRNA will wait for amino acids molecules to attach. If the mRNA was double stranded, it would take more time for the amino acids to attach. It is stronger. Having two strands bonded together makes DNA stronger. The strands are joined together by hydrogen bonds. Hydrogens are very strong bonds. DNA is stable in alkaline environment. It is lighter to carry around. Since mRNA has to move from inside the nucleus to the cytoplasm. 7. Differences between DNA and RNA; DNA RNA It consists of the nitrogen containing bases, namely; adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine. Adenine pairs up with thymine in base pairing. • 39. Effects of Business Cycles Introduction In general the economy tends to experience different trends. These trends can be grouped as the business/trade cycle and may contain a boom, recession, depression and recovery. A business/trade cycle (see figure 1) is the periodic but irregular up and down movements in economic activity, measured by fluctuations in real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and other macroeconomic variables. Samuelson and Nordhaus (1998), defined it as a swing in total national input, income and employment, usually lasting for a period of 2 to 10 years, marked by widespread expansion or contraction in most sectors of the economy . These fluctuations in economic activity usually have implications on employment, consumption, business confidence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... USA budget deficit, which for 2006 fell to $247.7 billion, the lowest in four years is of much concern. The September 11 terrorism attacks has aided to the retrenchment of economic activity and this has also affected the level of confidence in businesses and consumers. In 2000, consumer debt growth of 8.6% compared with real disposable income growth of 4.8%. During the first quarter of 2006, private household debt grew to 11.6% annually compared with zero real disposable income growth. The thriving technology in the USA led to a large number of investment in information processing equipment and software resulting in high equity values which also resulted in a decline by the second quarter of 2000. In October 2001employment fell by 439,000 jobs, and unemployment rate soared from 4.9% to 5.4%. Over 500,000 jobs were lost in the recession and a further one million jobs were destroyed in the weak job loss recovery from November 2001 to June 2003. People who lived below the poverty line jumped from 31.06 million to 34.06 million by 2002. This recession could have been avoided, however the argument against government intervention using discretionary fiscal policy to tackle recession accentuates the long time lags involved in altering fiscal policy in USA. There was proof in 2000 that the USA economy was slowing. Congress passed a tax cut in 2001, but it took Congress until March 2002 to pass the Economy Recovery Act to provide further inducement to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The First Evolution Of Astronomy Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences which is the study of celestial objects, the physics , chemistry, evolutions and especially in the discovery and observation of transient phenomena that originate outside the Earth. Astronomy has seen 3 scientific revolutions in cosmology. The first evolution is initiated by Claudius Ptolemy in the 2nd Century uses the Physics of Aristotle to demonstrate the model of Earth centered cosmology. At that time , we had to use different laws for Earth and the cosmos which was not unified. Ptolemy s system predicts planet locations precisely in hundred years until the European Renaissance ( XVI and XVII ), due to the contributions of Issac Newton, Johannes Kepler and Galileo Galilei in physics, Heliocentric (Sun centered) model was initiated by Nicolaus Copernicus was then being accepted. Recently, by the developments of technology and the breakthrough of modern physics, Edwin Hubble had succeeded in publishing a new theory : Big Bang Theory(based on the Physics of Einstein). Observations on the expansion of the universe is one of the prerequisites for building up the model of the evolution of the universe s most widely recognized today, the Big Bang model. INTRODUCTION The hot Big Bang (standard) cosmology will likely be viewed as one of the intellectual triumphs of the twentieth century. It provides a tested account of the Universe from a fraction of a second after the beginning until the present 10 to 15 billion years later, as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Farm Descriptive Essay The Farm Awakens The arrival of the six children wearing wrinkled clothes and half shut eyes ironically revived the empty ranch and brought life back into each and every crevice. The rusty gates creaked as they swung open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of Nevada. Two cars, filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of civilization. They arrived at night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally blanketed by the bright streets back home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the sleeping animals, but because of the grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s noise bounced between the mountain sides and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the white picket fence lining the house and duffle bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the outside world was forgotten as they admired the inside of their home for the week. When the door opened, 5 pairs of boots stomped inside, shuffling their feet along the thick, bristly rug that read Welcome Home! . As their heads revolved around the room, Dylan and Grace, the two oldest, led the pack of children naively glancing past the cowhide rugs and rustic furniture the parents admired. They traveled room to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay History of Web Design Web Design is a field that has been around for only thirty years, but has evolved drastically throughout that time. HTML has changed much, and new scripting languages such as CSS and JavaScript to name two, have arisen to help tackle the challenge that web development can be. From basic text pages to fully interactive sites, the world of web development has made significant leaps consistently throughout its short lifetime. In the 1960 s a concept for HTML was created by Ted Nelson, a Harvard graduate. His work was never used until the 1980 s, when the internet was introduced because of a lack of need for it. At the time, HTML was the only option for web development, and there was not much freedom when it came to design. Sites were basic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No longer are plugins a necessity to add multimedia content. Another large part of today s web design scene is mobile web development. With so many people owning phones and other mobile devices, mobile development has become a necessity in a world of technology that is becoming increasingly smaller and more portable. Statistics show that over twenty percent of Google searches are done on a mobile device, and that twenty five percent of internet users access the internet exclusively from their mobile devices. The need for mobile web development is growing fast. Mobile web design focuses on simplification. It is designed to be simpler on a smaller screen, making navigation easier. A drawback is that using Flash is not possible currently, which was a game changer in early web design. The future of web design is not clear. Many people make the judgment of what it is going to be. Some people predict that responsive, all on one page websites that flow easily through all browser types, because of the rise in mobile users. Other people will say that the future is programs such as Adobe Reflow and Macaw, which allow web designers to draw websites, which creates code to suit the site as it is drawn. Others say that fast, responsive sites are the future, to level out loading speeds across all devices. They could all be right. One thing is for certain though, the traditional form of creating sites will be taken over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Andrew Murray Religion Introduction Andrew Murray was born in Cape Town, South Africa; Murray became a noted missionary leader. His father was a Scottish Presbyterian serving the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, and his mother had connections with both French Huguenots and German Lutherans. This background to some extent explains his ecumenical spirit. He was educated at Aberdeen University, Scotland, and at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After ordination in 1848 he served pastorates at Bloemfontein, Worcester, Cape Town, and Wellington. He helped to found what is now the University College of the Orange Free State and the Stellenbosch Seminary He served as Moderator of the Cape Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church and was president of both the YMCA (1865) and the South Africa General Mission (1888 1917), ... I joke that he is a dead mentor to me, because when I read his writings there is a longing in me to imitate his faith, his passion for God, his conviction about being holy, his understanding about the grace of God. I admire just how plainly and affectionately he wrote about heavenly things as though he truly understood them. I just sit amazed at what God revealed to him and wonder if I will ever truly know without a shadow of a doubt the things he speaks about. His writings are not just fluff, but are the meat and potatoes of Christianity. If you read them you will not be disappointed, but you will be challenged and inspired to believe you really can be godly through Jesus Christ. This is one of my favorite books, perhaps because it provoked such thoughts of what true surrender is in the life of the Christian. Should you ever find yourself driven to know the truth about the surrendered life, select this book and encounter the concepts within. I would recommend this book to current believers who wish to take their relationship with the Lord to the next level. His writing is geared towards adults, as the language is appropriate for advanced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Inconsistency In Mermaids Mermaids, half human half fish, have been the subject of sailors fishtails for hundreds of years. Obviously the idea of mermaids is nothing but mythology, nevertheless, you still find people trying to prove the existence of these mythical beings. Popular culture has depicted mermaids in two drastically different ways. One, as beautiful creatures able to draw in anyone without saying a word, who will do no harm to humans; some go as far as saying they will help humans. The other, as evil conniving creatures, eager to lead men to their deaths. If we use the tools Carl Sagan has given us in his Baloney Detection Toolkit, we can easily debunk the idea of mermaids. Right away applying the idea of inconsistency is easy to do. One thing that is underappreciated at the University is the way the culture has evolved from what it used to be. Maybe it is from the lack of knowledge today s student s have. From being a primarily white college, to having a very diverse class of students, the University of Mississippi has for sure overcome more mediocrity than any university in the country.
