Theme Of Death In The Outsider
The Colors Associated with the Theme of Death

The Colors Associated with the Theme of Death in The Outsider by Albert Camus
The constant theme of death and mortality is highlighted in the opening sentence of the novel, Mother
died today. Death and decay is possibly the most powerful motif that keeps recurring throughout the
novel predominantly in the first half with the death of mother, the frail health of Solomon and his dog
and the infamous murder scene that resulted in the Meursault eventually being condemned in the
second half. Meursault begins and ends the novel in a state of indifference and throughout keeps
himself emotionally and socially detached from the world around him. It is the callous indifference
and insensitivity in the narration of Meursault which gives the reader an insight in the mind and
psyche of the character and help view Camus s theory of the Absurd. Meursault seems socially
unaware, emotionally incapable and understands relationships only in the context of the physical
therefore the vivid physical description of the surroundings are juxtaposed with the theme of death to
balance the absence of emotion from the context and highlight the philosophy of Absurd. Darkness
and black are often symbolic of death however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through the physical description, the reader is able to analyze and reflect upon the emotions of
Meursault. Heat and sun are closely associated with red, which seems to conjure up a series of
seemingly conflicting emotion from passionate love to danger and aggression. In the novel too,
Meursault concludes it was because of the sun. that he shot the Arab. ¬¬¬¬With a protagonist with
limited emotions, Camus attached great significance to the colors. The sunshine and shimmering in
the heat symbolize the inhospitable and depress[ed] feelings of

Alcoholism
Imagine you are at a family wedding reception where there is alcohol being served. As the night
progresses you notice your Uncle Bob frequenting the bar in the corner of the room for nearly one
drink after another. He is reaching his limit for liquor he can handle, and you notice him acting
increasingly disoriented, obnoxious, and tipsy. The rest of your family watches him as he virtually
makes a fool out of himself and comments about him fill the room. He has always been drinking way
too much since his days in the frat house at the university, states one relative. He is just like his father,
comments another. Such a story sparks a debate as to the foundation of alcoholism. Merriam
Webster s Dictionary defines alcoholism as continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the affect of low social status is to increase the risk of alcohol abuse for all people.
(Steen 210) There are undoubtedly numerous factors that may influence a person to become an
alcoholic, and it must be kept in mind that under the right circumstances everyone is prone to
addiction.
Although environmental factors are a key issue for alcoholism, genetics are also a factor of the
disease. Researchers often agree that the link between certain chromosomes and alcoholism are
present in the brain. Researchers describe the areas on the chromosomes as hot spots because they
probably contain hundreds of different genes that contribute to an increased risk for alcoholism.
(Marcotty 25) In addition to such hot spots, R. Grant Steen, author of DNA and Destiny: Nature and
Nurture in Human Behavior, states that there is a strong correlation between the A1 allele (a dopamine
receptor) and alcoholism in human beings. The allele was more commonly found in the brain tissue of
alcoholics than in non alcoholics. Having discovered that presence of the allele, scientists drew the
conclusion that the A1 allele was one of the best indicators that certain genetic aspects can influence
the tendency to become alcoholic. In some form or genetics play a certain role in the disease. If

Classical Conditioning Phobias
Many people have severe phobias and report feelings of anxiety and panic when confronted with these
fears. Learning principles may help explain why this anxiety may provide possible solutions. Some
with phobias, report a shortness of breath and a racing heartbeat when confronted with their fear. One
reaction may be a girl who was bitten by a men stray dog. This girl, let s call her Sally, now cries or
cowers behind something whenever a dog is near. Using classical conditioning we can see how this
happened, why she feels this way, and possible look at a way to end this fear once and for all. Now let
s roll through the classical conditioning model. Starting with the UCS (Unconditioned Stimulus) this
is when Sally gets bitten by the dog. The UCS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sally is hysterical, the pain makes her scream as she tries to run away from the dog and hide. This is a
normal response for a child to have. This helps her remember that dogs are bad, in her mind she feels
this, she has been through and experience in which it has stamped itself into her brain. Now the CS
(Conditioned Stimulus) is the dog itself, or dogs in general. The sight of a dog or even a bark or growl
can set little Sally off in a crying or cowering manner. The dog, or dogs, become the conditioned
stimulus because it is the memory of the previous interaction. After it is all said and done, the sight of
the dog or dogs will set her off yes. She will feel panicked and have shortness of breath., When you
are in counter with your fears you tend to become tensed. You will have anxiety, which creates an
uptick in your heart rate, including a slight shortness in breath. Same thing when people have panic
attacks. When you re in counter with your fear you have nowhere else to run, sometimes, and so this
makes you feel shut inside a small cube, one that you cannot get out. So Sally panics and she tried to
run, she will cry at the sight of a dog or a slight sound of a bark. This is known as the CR
(Conditioned response) the CR is the same as the UCR. Sally will feel like this everytime she sees or
hears a dog, unless

The Necessary Proofs for the Belief in God Explained in...
The article On Being an Athiest, by H.J. McClosky, was very interesting. McClosky basically lets us
know that as atheists they do not believe in God and why they do not believe in the God that theists
do. According to McCloskey, there are three proofs for a theist to believe in God; the cosmological,
teleological, and the argument from design.
McCloskey refers to the arguments for God as proofs, and he suggests that we cannot establish a case
with these, so called, proofs. After watching the PointeCast presentation, I agree with this. Proofs, as
we call them, were not designed to be one hundred percent. The presentation talked about the proofs
being more than just proving facts such as in mathematics. Outside of mathematics, ... Show more

Even though this one argument only talks about or shows us existence of the universe and necessary
being we must not forget about so many other important ones. If someone were to accept this as a
conclusion to accepting God, they would only want to know more. This is only a tiny piece that allows
us just a glimpse of God s knowledge. Let s take a look at the McCloskey s second argument, the
teleological argument.
In the teleological argument, McCloskey argues to get proof going genuine indisputable examples of
design and purpose are needed (McCloskey, 1968). McCloskey is basically stating in his argument
that all examples must be indisputable, or they have no ground to stand on. I disagree. Go back to the
beginning when we talked about the only thing that can actually be proven is mathematics. Regardless
of what you are trying to prove you must have multiple pieces of evidence, but even then they might
not be indisputable. I do not believe anything is ever one hundred percent disputable. So, I don t
believe that McCloskey s argument is a very conclusive one. Let s look at an example.
Aquina s version of this argument is a great one. Aquina states that, whatever lacks knowledge cannot
move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence
(Evans Manis, 2009, p.78). So let s take this one step

Essay on Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Every movie that is written has a certain attitude to it. Some of these are intended to be laughed at and
others are meant to be heartfelt. Though each movie is written with its own voice, so to speak, many
have similar plots or themes. The two movies Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are two
of these movies that have similarities in the themes, but not necessarily in the plots. Both of these
romantic comedies have strong religious backgrounds on the woman s side of the family and
differences in culture. The main theme between these two movies is the quest for happiness and all the
troubles that must be overcome to achieve it.
In the movie Fools Rush In Salma Hayek and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toula has been raised in a Greek home and still has not married, though all of her siblings have. In the
Greek culture a woman is to marry a Greek man, have Greek babies and feed everyone in the family
for the rest of their lives. Since Toula has not married she is living with her parents and working in
their family restaurant. While working as a hostess she encounters Ian and falls head over heels in love
with him. The problem is that he is not Greek; he is actually what her parents would consider a rebel.
She hides him from her family for as long as possible, but the truth is revealed. Her family makes it
known that without conversion he will not be accepted into their Greek home. He follows through and
in the end they are joyful in the outcome of their lives together. They also have Greek children and
Toula is able to be the ideal Greek woman.
These two movies both deal with similar issues. In both movies the women are struggling between
what their hearts are telling them and what they have been raised to know their entire lives. The
struggle to overcome the fact that their intended may not be accepted is one that is handled with many
mixed emotions. Toula is unable to face her family and admit she is seeing Ian, while Isabel just
eloped and caused family disturbances. The religions of the women differ greatly from the men, much
like the cultures. Toula had been raised entirely Greek and she knew no other way to be while Ian, on
the other hand, was

Immediate Response Capabilities
The capabilities are ranked as they are pursuant to priorities in preserving human life. Thus, attending
to critical conditions are prioritized before non critical conditions. Also, immediate response
capabilities are prioritized over those capabilities pertaining to issues not requiring an immediate

priorities over casualties. It should also be noted it could be argued that the Planning capability should

Negative Effects Of Child Labour
Child Labour is a plague to society and the future of humanity if this continues. Child Labour
negatively impacts the future in various ways. The first being that it increases the rate of poverty
because children do not get paid significantly less, adults lose their jobs to children and the children
because children are easier to manipulate do not get the knowledge they need to attain better lifestyles.
The second reason it regresses the growth of society by having child labourers grow up without the
knowledge they need, Their ignorance of their rights and the growth of their families. Finally, child

adults lose jobs because of child labour. Children, as stated in the Ethical Trading Initiative are
cheaper to pay... [and] less likely to complain than adults ( A Global, n.d.). This states that children are
less likely to question what they are doing for whatever money they can get and although there are
child labour rights they are not strict enough for employers to care. Whereas adults have way more
rights, can and will most likely try to fight against unfair working conditions and need to be paid more
leading most employers to lay off more adult workers in favour of child labourers which in return
reduce the amount of income for already poor families. In conclusion, child labour increase the
amount of poverty in society by having children get paid less, children unable to fight back and the
decrease of adult employment.
Secondly, Child labour helps regress society and stops it from growing by having Child labourers

Miss Ever s Boys Film critique Essay
Bioethical Issues: Miss Evers Boys
Introduction
Miss Ever s Boys is a docudrama film that was produced by the HBO cable network. The movie
explores ethical and social issues involved in the infamous Tuskegee Study. The study was about
untreated black men with syphilis. The U.S. Public Health Service is said to have conducted a study
among 600 black Americans from the years 1932 to 1972. This study was done in Macon County. This
paper will exclusively explore the critique the Miss Ever s Boys film using ethical frameworks. The
ethical framework includes beneficence, justice, and respect for persons, duty based ethics, virtue
based ethics, and the right s based ethics. The paper will identify how the above listed ethical

In the movie, Miss Ever s Boys , only blacks were included in the study. The study recruited 600 black
men and none white person. To start with, this was discrimination of the highest order. This means that
only the black men were at the risk of dying, considering that they treated them with placebos. This
means that only the black men s lives were endangered while the bioethics requires that the risk to be
distributed equally (B. Miss Evers Boys and the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, 2013).
Respect for persons means that people have a right to fully exercise their autonomy. Here, people need
to be given a chance to make their own choices. In the film, Miss Ever s Boys, it is clear that the
participants were not respected at all. The first show of disrespect was when the U.S. Public Health
Service decided to conduct a study and lie to the participants that they were going to offer them cure
to syphilis. The second disrespect shown was the discrimination in the study where only the blacks
were selected. Lastly, the U.S. Public Health Service disrespected the participants knowing that it was
dangerous. Therefore, the respect for person ethical principle was not meet in the movie Miss Ever s
Boys .
Duty based ethics are based on duty or obligation. Kant argues that there are higher principles that are

Constitutional Law And The Criminal Justice System Essay
When it comes to the United States, (U.S), the majority of the American people love their seconded
amendment rights. As stated in the textbook, Constitutional Law and the Criminal Justice System by J.
Scott Harr, Karen M. Hess, Christine Orthmann, the second amendment of the United States
Constitution, for the most part, protects the U.S. citizens rights to keep and bear arms (Harr, Hess,
Orthmann, Kingsbury, 2015, p. 167). That being said, each state in the U.S. will vary in their firearms
laws. For instance, some states make it easier for their residence to purchase or use a firearm; other
states may have stricter laws that require a more scrutinized screening process. To be more specific,
most states vary in elements, such as the exceptions to the National Instant Criminal Background
Check System, or NICS, the waiting period on purchasing firearms; if someone needs a license to own
or purchase a gun; if registration is required; and if a record of the firearm sales is sent to the local
police. Other factors that will differ from state to state would include, if some firearms are permitted
or not allowed to be sold or owned by a state, the concealed carry laws, hunter protection laws; range
protection laws, and finally, not all states have firearm injury lawsuit preemption.
At the present time, the NICS principle objective is to insure that firearms do not fall under the control
of individuals who wittingly abuse the privilege or mistreat others (Bureau of Alcohol,

There are several Biblical references to candles, and the Emperor Constantine is reported to have

A candle was always kept lighted in a church to symbolize the presence of God as well as to light

tiring hours, nearly low wages, and a robotic lifestyle are reflective of the extreme conditions that
prevail beyond the nice clean epoxied rooms where the production is carried out. The working
conditions of the workers are demoralizing and nerve wrecking. . If one is found talking to a coworker

People make Choices Introduction:
From 1941 to 1945, The Holocaust took place in many countries, and millions of people died. Adolf
Hitler came to power in 1933 in Germany, and had an Aryan Race which was the Nazi s idea of a
master race. They thought that people with blonde hair and blue eyes were perfect. Adolf Hitler
developed a plan called the Final Solution, which was to kill mostly Jewish people, but also anyone
who did not fit his standards. Hitler rounded up all of the people he disliked, and he placed them in
concentration camps and death camps. In these awful places, these prisoners got tortured not only
physically, but also mentally. In France, many Jews were being deported to Germany, however; there
was so many, that they had to stay in concentration camps in France. The survival rate in France was
higher than any country in Europe during the Holocaust. Two very similar people who made very
different choices were in France during the Holocaust. A priest named Andre Trocme made a good
choice to save many Jews, and a SS officer named Klaus Barbie made a bad choice to kill thousands
of Jews ( The Holocaust ).
1st body paragraph: Andre Trocme was born on April 7, 1901 in northern France. When he was a
child, he spoke his mind, and did whatever he felt like he needed to do, which led him to be an
objector during World War 1. He attended seminary school in Paris as he was growing up, and then

Role Of The Frame Table And The Disk Map Data Structures
CH 8
1. In a 5 stage pipelined processor, upon a page fault, what needs to happen in hardware for instruction
re start?
When there is a page fault during fetching an instruction pipeline must be drained, so that the
instructions which are already executing show be finished first. After this we cater the page fault and
restart instructions.
Otherwise if there is a situation that page fault occur during MEM operation the instructions which are
in other states such as in instruction fetch, instruction decode or execute can be condensed as they won
t be making any changes to the registers. After this we can handle the page fault.
2. Describe the role of the frame table and the disk map data structures in a demand paged memory
manager.
Frame tables are used as a reference as we can get to know that which frames are available and which
are already taken and which process they are allocated.
Whereas the disk map data structures are used to know about the frames which are being swapped
from the disk and where they can be relocated again.
4. Describe the interaction between the process scheduler and the memory manager.
Process scheduler and memory manager these 2 ae codes which lie dormant when a user process is

The Problem Of Global Climate Change
Other than political stories in 2016 we still see and hear of many Global Warming scenarios, what
causes them, who is the main reason for the cause, and when it actually started. We are going to take a
look at the reality of what is really happening.
Let s assume that all ice caps and glaciers in the world melted. What would be the result of such a
catastrophe, how long would it take, who would be affects, and would we suffer any loss because of
this?
Global climate change has been more and more discussed with the ever changing climate, and the rise
of water levels, we need to figure out why the water levels have been changing so rapidly. Is there any
change we humans can do to prevent disaster? Or are we on a collision course with no way to turn
around?
This is a list of the known ice inventories within our world that I have found from Dr. Robert Johnston
regarding if the ice melts. As you can see Dr. Robert Johnston has done his studies and research about
this topic.
World ice inventory
A melting of the entire list would cause a rise of about 200 250 feet of the world wide sea level. This
seems dangerous, but it would take several hundred years to occur, if at all for that to even happen and
even if it did we would no longer be alive.
As Dr. Robert Johnston said Today the Earth has 148 million sq. km of land area, of which 16 million
sq. km is covered by glaciers. A sea level rise of 66 meters would flood about 13 million sq. km of
land outside of Antarctica. If we

Finding Fish
Finding Fish Assignment 1 Barbara Calhoun SWK 358 The book, finding fish, is a poignant
autobiography of the life of Antwone Quenton Fisher, an African American boy who suffered a
tumultuous childhood in a foster care setting. He was born on 8 3 1959 in a Cleveland prison to Eva
Mae Fisher. She was incarcerated for the shooting death of his father, her boyfriend at the time, Eddie
Elkins. Initially, he spent his first few weeks of his life in a Cleveland orphanage. Then he was
fostered by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Nellie Strange. She lovingly cared for him for two years.
One 10 11 1961 he was placed in the foster home of the Reverend and Mrs. Pickett, an African
American couple who came from southern black heritage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pickett s never missed a Sunday for church and even held a Friday night special service where the
children were made to kneel and pray to find the Holy Ghost. Mrs. Pickett coached them saying Come
on chu ren, yawl gone get the Holy Ghost and ev rything gone be all right with God! (finding fish,
page 52). The church services were very emotional a frenzy, dancing, clapping, stomping their feet,
fanning themselves, breathing in and out with deep sighs, even crying and talking in tongues and
shouting things like Praise the Lawd! Glory! and Hallelujah. (finding fish, pages 51 52). Language is
the second cultural aspect of the Pickett Family in the book. Mrs. Pickett insists that the foster children
refer to her as Mu deah a southern black term of respect for a matriarch, a contraction of mother, dear
(finding fish page 45). This, I believe, was a way for Mrs. Pickett to elevate her stature as the
matriarch of the family. Mrs. Pickett often referred to her foster kids as niggas in a derogatory sense.
In the book she says Niggas, I ll take ya back where I gotcha from. (finding fish page 63). She
continually talks down to the kids, hardly ever using their names to address them. In another instance
in the book she says Which one of you low down niggas put cha pissy night clothes in this here
vacuum?! (finding fish page 69), She uses this manner of conversation due to her southern black
heritage.

the result of a trivial use for a powerful technology. 7 The Commission s belief that the fish should not

scientists in Singapore to be living pollution sensors as they would only glow when in the presence of
pollutants.7 The Commission s ban on GloFish highlights the controversy over genetically modified
organisms and how public opinion can be swayed by the beliefs of others whether those beliefs are
based on science or not. This paper will focus first on what genetic modification means and then will
look at the pros and cons of genetically modified foods. Finally, the author s opinion of the issue of
GMO food will conclude the paper. Wikipedia defines genetic modification as the mutation, insertion
or deletion of genes. Consider that for over 14,000 years, humans have been using the practice of

Sub Saharan Africa
Caroline Sullivan
Wal Mart Makes Slow Progress Navigating Africa s Challenges In 2010, Wal Mart Stores Inc had
invested into South Africa with $2.4 billion on a stake for the company Massmart. The company went
into it fast without knowing too much of what to expect and their result was not well. Citizens were
anticipating lower prices and cheaper goods and said that s not what they received. Going into African
retail is a very risky business for companies because not many have and those that have, very few
have succeeded. The phrase Africa Rising was invented because it is thought to be the next booming
place for retail companies even though the only big succession has been from the company Shoprite.
In conclusion, after Wal Mart s mistake, companies are focusing on Europe and Asia where there are
shopping malls and slowly working into Africa.

Summary Of Discoveries In The Tempest
Discoveries that are confronting can provoke us to change, due to the realisations and findings we may
encounter. These mind altering discoveries can transform our values, actions and future pathways.

power, love and reconciliation, coinciding with Lenny Abrahamson s adaptation of the true story

Central to each text is the dogma of Discoveries, encompassing their ability to cause the uncovering of
new realisations about ourselves and the world around us, underlined by Discoveries that can

can encourage self transformation. Discoveries can encompass the ability to uncover new realisations
about ourselves and the world around us. Having questions answered about our lives that we have
pondered upon ourselves can be enlightening and create realisations about memories and reveal the

South Africa s New Secrecy Bill Putting Country s...
South Africa is recognised internationally as a country passionate about upholding its democracy. Last
year however, the National Assembly decided to pass a condemned Secrecy Bill, two days prior to
Freedom Day, despite citizen s disapprovals. Was the event a mere coincidence or is our country s
democracy at stake?
The Secrecy Bill, formally known as the Protection of State Information Act, was introduced to
replace the apartheid era legislation. It is supposedly an improved legislation which serves to protect
sensitive or classified state information against unnecessary disclosure and destruction. It has been
noted by the media and even President Jacob Zuma himself that the Bill has some grey areas where
national interest remains too vague a reason for keeping information classified.
Furthermore, the Secrecy Bill restricts the media s access to government information, offering hefty
jail sentences to those who leak the secrets withheld by government. Is that a procedure to protect the
state of corruption in our country, or is it to protect the State itself?
As far as I am concerned, the Secrecy Bill acts against our constitutional rights. The South African
Constitution states that: Everyone has the right of access to any information held by the state. Along
with this, the Bill acts against the right to freedom of speech, as the media can no longer publish
articles freely. This means that journalists will no longer be able to investigate issues of fraud, theft

Links Between Organisational Objectives And Personal...
Personal development objectives are affected by organisations goals, as companies will want to steer
their employees in a direction that should meet their corporate strategy and link into the mission
statement. However, personal objectives and organisational objectives should tie in together and have
a common goal, which should meet the needs of both participants (Dransfield, 2000). Although
organisational objectives can hold a negative attribute to employee s personal development, if the
company invests time into employees PDP and employees can see that there is a plan in place for job
promotion, then they re more likely to keep their staff (Cotton, 2011). A future plan will add value to
the business as it will improve employee s skills and personal development strengths which will give a
positive effect on the company performance. A.C.1.1 Identify the links between organisational

Teaching And Professional Learning Communities
Furthermore, our class on Professional Learning Communities (PLC) also had a great impact on me as

previously, last year was my first year in this new role. My partner left the district very late in the
summer and we were unable to find a replacement so I was doing the job of two people. I wasn t sure
how PLC was supposed to be structured and I didn t have anyone to lean on for support, so I did the
best I could to provide teachers with a new instructional strategy each week that could be used in their
classrooms. I thought I was doing a great job in PLC until I began the Schools and Professional
Learning Communities course. I learned from the work of DuFour and many others that PLC was
intended to be a time of collaboration. Teachers should be reviewing their students data and using that
time to make informed instructional decisions after collaborating with their colleagues. Teachers were
walking away each week with new learning; however, there was very little, if any, time spent on
reviewing student work samples and adjusting instruction based on feedback. I decided at that point it
was time to make a change. In the spring semester, we began a series of PLCs entitled Keep, Change,
and Action. We began by looking at student work samples collected from around the district. These
samples were placed on a large poster and teachers were given time to review the

John Winthrop s Sermon, On The Model Of Christian Charity...
The call of John Winthrop for the Massachusetts Bay colony to be a City on a Hill literally meant for
the members of the colony to be a spiritual example and guide for others, but also implies the
ontological statement of exceptionalism through capital gain. In this paper, the reader will discover the
connection between John Winthrop and mercantilism, which is a branch of capitalism that focuses on
merchants trading using the government to help regulate the expansion of capital. In addition, the
content of this paper will extrapolate on the pragmatic implications of this economic system and its
effects on the people involved. John Winthrop s sermon, On the Model of Christian Charity,
establishes a pre capitalist ideology through the presupposition of Winthrop s personal/political
beliefs, Puritan thought, and the manifestation of these thoughts actualized in the marginalization of
Native Americans. Firstly, John Winthrop earned the reputation of a compassionate and just judge
over a decade of service, but he came to realize that it would be impossible to reach fame and fortune
in England without substituting his Puritan values. In 1629, stockholders came together and elected
John Winthrop as lead of the company, which existed due to the vast amount of opposition that the
Anglican Church received from the Puritan community. John Winthrop believed that his fellow
Englishmen should join him in his idea that the company must subsist bound together with mutual

William Shakespeare s Macbeth And Henry Iv
Shakespeare s plays Macbeth and Henry IV Part One are both plays that are wrought with the notion
of destiny. The journeys that Macbeth and Hal undertake throughout these plays are contrastingly
different and each play takes on a different perspective of destiny. In Macbeth destiny is attempted to
be controlled by Macbeth himself whereas Hal has a destiny that he was born into, a destiny to be
king. Both are portrayed differently in different spheres of their society this will be explored further in
the examples below.
Firstly, language is the first indication of differences in both of these plays. Shakespeare is very good
at writing and distinguishing different social classes using different language techniques and manners
of expression. In Henry IV this is shown through Hals learning of a gruff and more common language
through the bartender, in many ways this ability to shift between a language that the nobility would
use and one that the commoners would use aids Hal through his destiny. He is able to befriend the
bartender and these commoners hence he gains the trust of his people, which is an integral part of his
plan to win back is honour as a prince and the loyalty of his father. Furthermore Hal changes his
diction when he declares his loyalty to his father and his king showing his ability to once again use his
diverse language skills to gain the power and honour he truly wanted. In contrast the language in
Macbeth is specifically used to create imagery, specifically

The Theme Of Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is a poem about love. In the text Shakespeare refers to love as everlasting
and describes love as an instrumental part of being human. Shakespeare further describes love as an
ever fixed mark and never bending. He even goes as far as to say, love s not time s fool which clearly
embodies the point of the text that love never changes and endures through all trials of life and does it
in a concise manner.
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is one of his many sonnets. A sonnet is a fourteen lined single stanza piece
of text, it uses an iambic pentameter which means there are two syllable phrases in each line: the first
shorter and unstressed, and the second longer and stressed . A clear example of this is the eighth line
of the text which states Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken.
This piece of text is a traditional fourteen lined sonnets and stays true to the limits of such.
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 uses very clear tone throughout the text. This is demonstrated through the
composer s use of language when he states, Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit
impediments. This is one of many examples that makes Shakespeare s great respect for marriage clear.
The various examples from the text show that Shakespeare wrote from a place of respect and love
rather than from contempt and hate, as he suggests that he would not admit independence from those
whose love he takes to be thought out with discretion and time. The composer

What Role Did Babe Ruth Play In The 1920s

time of low unemployment, so many citizens spent their salaries on many activities: going to the

enjoy their time and live life with laissez faire, or a policy or attitude of letting things take their own

Many people consider Babe as the greatest to play the game. The records Babe Ruth set is a testament
to how amazing of a player he really was. While playing for the Red Sox in 1919, Babe set the single

Ruth close to doubled his single season home run record to 54(biography). Following the 54 home run
season Ruth set the outstanding record of 59 home runs(biography). It only took Ruth 10 seasons to
become one of the greatest home run hitters anyone has ever seen. Ruth s success on the baseball

injuries. These include direct injuries that may result in excessive bleeding. In this case, the no blood

Emerging market multinationals are companies with operation bases in at least one other country from
their home bases (West, 2015). They have varied ownership models with the national or local
governments often being part owners of the company as in the case of resource or energy companies.
Family or private ownership is also a popular ownership model. They are also multi industrial in

Emerging Market Multinationals mainly emerged because domestic companies in developed countries
saw a shift in growth pattern once they reached the peak of their economic curve. Growth slowed
down and even became stagnant. This was primarily because the markets in the developed countries
had already reached their optimum levels. On the other hand, this was the period of time when
developing countries began to experience rapid economic growth. This prompted companies to look

  • 2. Theme Of Death In The Outsider The Colors Associated with the Theme of Death Written Assignment Urooj Kashif The Colors Associated with the Theme of Death in The Outsider by Albert Camus The constant theme of death and mortality is highlighted in the opening sentence of the novel, Mother died today. Death and decay is possibly the most powerful motif that keeps recurring throughout the novel predominantly in the first half with the death of mother, the frail health of Solomon and his dog and the infamous murder scene that resulted in the Meursault eventually being condemned in the second half. Meursault begins and ends the novel in a state of indifference and throughout keeps himself emotionally and socially detached from the world around him. It is the callous indifference and insensitivity in the narration of Meursault which gives the reader an insight in the mind and psyche of the character and help view Camus s theory of the Absurd. Meursault seems socially unaware, emotionally incapable and understands relationships only in the context of the physical therefore the vivid physical description of the surroundings are juxtaposed with the theme of death to balance the absence of emotion from the context and highlight the philosophy of Absurd. Darkness and black are often symbolic of death however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is through the physical description, the reader is able to analyze and reflect upon the emotions of Meursault. Heat and sun are closely associated with red, which seems to conjure up a series of seemingly conflicting emotion from passionate love to danger and aggression. In the novel too, Meursault concludes it was because of the sun. that he shot the Arab. ¬¬¬¬With a protagonist with limited emotions, Camus attached great significance to the colors. The sunshine and shimmering in the heat symbolize the inhospitable and depress[ed] feelings of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Alcoholism Imagine you are at a family wedding reception where there is alcohol being served. As the night progresses you notice your Uncle Bob frequenting the bar in the corner of the room for nearly one drink after another. He is reaching his limit for liquor he can handle, and you notice him acting increasingly disoriented, obnoxious, and tipsy. The rest of your family watches him as he virtually makes a fool out of himself and comments about him fill the room. He has always been drinking way too much since his days in the frat house at the university, states one relative. He is just like his father, comments another. Such a story sparks a debate as to the foundation of alcoholism. Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines alcoholism as continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the affect of low social status is to increase the risk of alcohol abuse for all people. (Steen 210) There are undoubtedly numerous factors that may influence a person to become an alcoholic, and it must be kept in mind that under the right circumstances everyone is prone to addiction. Although environmental factors are a key issue for alcoholism, genetics are also a factor of the disease. Researchers often agree that the link between certain chromosomes and alcoholism are present in the brain. Researchers describe the areas on the chromosomes as hot spots because they probably contain hundreds of different genes that contribute to an increased risk for alcoholism. (Marcotty 25) In addition to such hot spots, R. Grant Steen, author of DNA and Destiny: Nature and Nurture in Human Behavior, states that there is a strong correlation between the A1 allele (a dopamine receptor) and alcoholism in human beings. The allele was more commonly found in the brain tissue of alcoholics than in non alcoholics. Having discovered that presence of the allele, scientists drew the conclusion that the A1 allele was one of the best indicators that certain genetic aspects can influence the tendency to become alcoholic. • 7. Classical Conditioning Phobias Many people have severe phobias and report feelings of anxiety and panic when confronted with these fears. Learning principles may help explain why this anxiety may provide possible solutions. Some with phobias, report a shortness of breath and a racing heartbeat when confronted with their fear. One reaction may be a girl who was bitten by a men stray dog. This girl, let s call her Sally, now cries or cowers behind something whenever a dog is near. Using classical conditioning we can see how this happened, why she feels this way, and possible look at a way to end this fear once and for all. Now let s roll through the classical conditioning model. Starting with the UCS (Unconditioned Stimulus) this is when Sally gets bitten by the dog. The UCS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sally is hysterical, the pain makes her scream as she tries to run away from the dog and hide. This is a normal response for a child to have. This helps her remember that dogs are bad, in her mind she feels this, she has been through and experience in which it has stamped itself into her brain. Now the CS (Conditioned Stimulus) is the dog itself, or dogs in general. The sight of a dog or even a bark or growl can set little Sally off in a crying or cowering manner. The dog, or dogs, become the conditioned stimulus because it is the memory of the previous interaction. After it is all said and done, the sight of the dog or dogs will set her off yes. She will feel panicked and have shortness of breath., When you are in counter with your fears you tend to become tensed. You will have anxiety, which creates an uptick in your heart rate, including a slight shortness in breath. Same thing when people have panic attacks. When you re in counter with your fear you have nowhere else to run, sometimes, and so this makes you feel shut inside a small cube, one that you cannot get out. So Sally panics and she tried to run, she will cry at the sight of a dog or a slight sound of a bark. This is known as the CR (Conditioned response) the CR is the same as the UCR. • 8. The Necessary Proofs for the Belief in God Explained in... The article On Being an Athiest, by H.J. McClosky, was very interesting. McClosky basically lets us know that as atheists they do not believe in God and why they do not believe in the God that theists do. According to McCloskey, there are three proofs for a theist to believe in God; the cosmological, teleological, and the argument from design. McCloskey refers to the arguments for God as proofs, and he suggests that we cannot establish a case with these, so called, proofs. After watching the PointeCast presentation, I agree with this. Proofs, as we call them, were not designed to be one hundred percent. The presentation talked about the proofs being more than just proving facts such as in mathematics. Outside of mathematics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though this one argument only talks about or shows us existence of the universe and necessary being we must not forget about so many other important ones. If someone were to accept this as a conclusion to accepting God, they would only want to know more. This is only a tiny piece that allows us just a glimpse of God s knowledge. Let s take a look at the McCloskey s second argument, the teleological argument. In the teleological argument, McCloskey argues to get proof going genuine indisputable examples of design and purpose are needed (McCloskey, 1968). McCloskey is basically stating in his argument that all examples must be indisputable, or they have no ground to stand on. I disagree. Go back to the beginning when we talked about the only thing that can actually be proven is mathematics. Regardless of what you are trying to prove you must have multiple pieces of evidence, but even then they might not be indisputable. I do not believe anything is ever one hundred percent disputable. So, I don t believe that McCloskey s argument is a very conclusive one. Let s look at an example. Aquina s version of this argument is a great one. Aquina states that, whatever lacks knowledge cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence (Evans Manis, 2009, p.78). Some of these are intended to be laughed at and others are meant to be heartfelt. Though each movie is written with its own voice, so to speak, many have similar plots or themes. The two movies Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are two of these movies that have similarities in the themes, but not necessarily in the plots. Both of these romantic comedies have strong religious backgrounds on the woman s side of the family and differences in culture. The problem is that he is not Greek; he is actually what her parents would consider a rebel. She hides him from her family for as long as possible, but the truth is revealed. Her family makes it known that without conversion he will not be accepted into their Greek home. He follows through and in the end they are joyful in the outcome of their lives together. They also have Greek children and Toula is able to be the ideal Greek woman. These two movies both deal with similar issues. In both movies the women are struggling between what their hearts are telling them and what they have been raised to know their entire lives. The struggle to overcome the fact that their intended may not be accepted is one that is handled with many mixed emotions. Toula is unable to face her family and admit she is seeing Ian, while Isabel just eloped and caused family disturbances. The religions of the women differ greatly from the men, much like the cultures. Toula had been raised entirely Greek and she knew no other way to be while Ian, on the other hand, was ... Last year however, the National Assembly decided to pass a condemned Secrecy Bill, two days prior to Freedom Day, despite citizen s disapprovals. Was the event a mere coincidence or is our country s democracy at stake? The Secrecy Bill, formally known as the Protection of State Information Act, was introduced to replace the apartheid era legislation. It is supposedly an improved legislation which serves to protect sensitive or classified state information against unnecessary disclosure and destruction. It has been noted by the media and even President Jacob Zuma himself that the Bill has some grey areas where national interest remains too vague a reason for keeping information classified. Furthermore, the Secrecy Bill restricts the media s access to government information, offering hefty jail sentences to those who leak the secrets withheld by government. Is that a procedure to protect the state of corruption in our country, or is it to protect the State itself? As far as I am concerned, the Secrecy Bill acts against our constitutional rights. The South African Constitution states that: Everyone has the right of access to any information held by the state. I thought I was doing a great job in PLC until I began the Schools and Professional Learning Communities course. I learned from the work of DuFour and many others that PLC was intended to be a time of collaboration. Teachers should be reviewing their students data and using that time to make informed instructional decisions after collaborating with their colleagues. Teachers were walking away each week with new learning; however, there was very little, if any, time spent on reviewing student work samples and adjusting instruction based on feedback. I decided at that point it was time to make a change. In the spring semester, we began a series of PLCs entitled Keep, Change, and Action. We began by looking at student work samples collected from around the district. These samples were placed on a large poster and teachers were given time to review the ... • 33. John Winthrop s Sermon, On The Model Of Christian Charity... The call of John Winthrop for the Massachusetts Bay colony to be a City on a Hill literally meant for the members of the colony to be a spiritual example and guide for others, but also implies the ontological statement of exceptionalism through capital gain. In this paper, the reader will discover the connection between John Winthrop and mercantilism, which is a branch of capitalism that focuses on merchants trading using the government to help regulate the expansion of capital. In addition, the content of this paper will extrapolate on the pragmatic implications of this economic system and its effects on the people involved. John Winthrop s sermon, On the Model of Christian Charity, establishes a pre capitalist ideology through the presupposition of Winthrop s personal/political beliefs, Puritan thought, and the manifestation of these thoughts actualized in the marginalization of Native Americans. Firstly, John Winthrop earned the reputation of a compassionate and just judge over a decade of service, but he came to realize that it would be impossible to reach fame and fortune in England without substituting his Puritan values. In 1629, stockholders came together and elected John Winthrop as lead of the company, which existed due to the vast amount of opposition that the Anglican Church received from the Puritan community. John Winthrop believed that his fellow Englishmen should join him in his idea that the company must subsist bound together with mutual consent to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. William Shakespeare s Macbeth And Henry Iv Shakespeare s plays Macbeth and Henry IV Part One are both plays that are wrought with the notion of destiny. The journeys that Macbeth and Hal undertake throughout these plays are contrastingly different and each play takes on a different perspective of destiny. In Macbeth destiny is attempted to be controlled by Macbeth himself whereas Hal has a destiny that he was born into, a destiny to be king. Both are portrayed differently in different spheres of their society this will be explored further in the examples below. Firstly, language is the first indication of differences in both of these plays. Shakespeare is very good at writing and distinguishing different social classes using different language techniques and manners of expression. In Henry IV this is shown through Hals learning of a gruff and more common language through the bartender, in many ways this ability to shift between a language that the nobility would use and one that the commoners would use aids Hal through his destiny. He is able to befriend the bartender and these commoners hence he gains the trust of his people, which is an integral part of his plan to win back is honour as a prince and the loyalty of his father. Furthermore Hal changes his diction when he declares his loyalty to his father and his king showing his ability to once again use his diverse language skills to gain the power and honour he truly wanted. In contrast the language in Macbeth is specifically used to create imagery, specifically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Theme Of Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is a poem about love. In the text Shakespeare refers to love as everlasting and describes love as an instrumental part of being human. Shakespeare further describes love as an ever fixed mark and never bending. He even goes as far as to say, love s not time s fool which clearly embodies the point of the text that love never changes and endures through all trials of life and does it in a concise manner. Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 is one of his many sonnets. A sonnet is a fourteen lined single stanza piece of text, it uses an iambic pentameter which means there are two syllable phrases in each line: the first shorter and unstressed, and the second longer and stressed . A clear example of this is the eighth line of the text which states Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken. This piece of text is a traditional fourteen lined sonnets and stays true to the limits of such. Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 uses very clear tone throughout the text. This is demonstrated through the composer s use of language when he states, Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments. This is one of many examples that makes Shakespeare s great respect for marriage clear. The various examples from the text show that Shakespeare wrote from a place of respect and love rather than from contempt and hate, as he suggests that he would not admit independence from those whose love he takes to be thought out with discretion and time. Finally, the essay will conclude by suggesting several strategies or solutions which can be practically used to combat the issues that are being faced. What are the Emerging Market Multinationals? Emerging market multinationals are companies with operation bases in at least one other country from their home bases (West, 2015). They have varied ownership models with the national or local governments often being part owners of the company as in the case of resource or energy companies. Family or private ownership is also a popular ownership model. They are also multi industrial in nature with the company operating multiple sectors in the home country and internationalizing in only one or two of these (West, 2015). Emerging Market Multinationals mainly emerged because domestic companies in developed countries saw a shift in growth pattern once they reached the peak of their economic curve. Growth slowed down and even became stagnant. This was primarily because the markets in the developed countries had already reached their optimum levels. On the other hand, this was the period of time when developing countries began to experience rapid economic growth. This prompted companies to look towards the potential and resources of these emerging markets as their source of salvation and develop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
