Reflective Essay About Physical Education
Physical education and health are the most essential classes because they are the only ones capable of
lengthening one s life through establishing habits of healthy living. Upon overhearing my high school
gym and health teacher state this, I began to consider how the statement relates to my identity as an
athlete. Also, I smiled and thought to myself, I can t wait to tell my mom what he just said! Now I can
support my love for gym class and dreadful attitude toward other courses. Throughout my life, the
term athletic consistently has been used to describe me. From the age of seven to thirteen, my brothers
and I attended a summer camp, called Crossroads. Incorporated within the eight hour day was snack
time, choice time, lunch time, a biblical lesson, song singing, small groups, and a sports session.
Before the day officially began, during choice time, and the sports session, I delighted in playing
sports and competing alongside peers and counselors. At the end of our last ever day of camp, the
counselors held an impromptu graduation where they handed out some awards and displayed their
gratitude for witnessing our growth and contributions over the years. Jake Veenstra , called out one of
the head counselors. Shocked and bashful, I slowly walked up to the stage confused by what I was
recognized for while my face quickly transformed into deeper tones of red. Eventually, I made it up to
the stage and read the award. Most Versatile Athlete. I thought to myself, I

Elizabeth Bennet Comparison
Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself, Wow, she/he reminds me of myself in a way.
, or, Wow, he is a lot like Phil. ? I do that sometimes, especially with girls like Elizabeth Bennet.
Elizabeth Bennet and I are similar because we are brave, strong and have many sisters. Elizabeth
Bennet and I are similar because we are both brave and gallant. In the movie Pride and Prejudice and
Zombies Elizabeth Bennet stands up for what she wants no matter what even if it means her getting
judged as a result. She is also brave because she was willing to run into a swarm of zombies to save
someone, even if it meant her death, which she knew. I am just as courageous as her because when my
friend was being picked on in front of the whole school I was the one who stood up for them, even
though I knew in my mind that I could be judged by everyone because I knew that I was a good
person for that and I didn t care what anyone else thought of me. ... Show more content on

During her movie that she was extremely strong and able to take care of herself. She practiced many
forms of combat throughout her life and it showed that she did very well. She is also mentally strong
because she was able to think through problems and piece parts of the movie together, even if they
were not at all easy to find. Elizabeth and I are alike in these ways because I am a strong person as a
result of learning combat throughout my life and solve problems easily. We both also are able to detect

Criminal Behavior And Strict Liability
When studying criminal behavior and strict liability, exploring the possible causations that may
contribute to criminal behavior is important. Examining family backgrounds, genetic make ups and
parenting are some factors that influence criminal behavior. Understand the possible risk factors of
criminal behavior helps us to better understand why people commit crimes. This paper will attempt to
critically analyze two articles on the concept of criminal behavior and law as it pertains to strict
liability. Criminal Conduct In the early 1960 s the movement of the Model Penal Code transformed
American criminal law by the American Law Institute. The MPC seek to bring analytical clarity to the
definition and interpretation of criminal statutes that were encrusted with ill defined law terms such as
malice aforethought (Brown, 2012, p. 287). Criminal conduct can be defined as conduct of an offender
that leads to and including a commission of an unlawful act (USLEGAL, n.d.) A recent current event
that is a prime example of criminal behavior or criminal conduct is the tragedy that occurred at Smith
Mountain Lake in Virginia. A former disgruntled employee, Vester Lee Flanagan aka Bryce Williams
opened fire on WDBJ news reporter Alison Parker, camera man Adam Ward and chamber of
commerce executive woman Vicki Gardner during a live morning broadcast. Flanagan s criminal
conduct was escalated by years of what he claimed as being harassed and a victim of racial slurs and
comments as well

Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse-Five Analysis
Tragedies occur all around us every day, yet we only hear of the massacres the media wants us to hear.
For years, wars, famines, and discrimination have torn this world apart, but little has been done
nationally to oppress them. However, many individuals have attempted to expose the cruelness of
these tragedies through their works of art and literature. Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is
one such novel. This book explores the devastation of World War II, specifically the bombing of
Dresden, Germany, with witty humor and anti war undertones. The novel follows the personal life of
Billy Pilgrim, a World War II veteran, optometrist, and time traveler. Billy is able to visit any part of
his life that he so chooses, a trick he learned after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slaughterhouse Five, however, is no ordinary novel. Kurt Vonnegut, being his unique self, uses several
creative methods and techniques to tell the story of Billy Pilgrim. One such technique is his
implementation of himself as a minor character into the story. Although Billy is the character that
Vonnegut uses to portray his own experiences at Dresden, he decides to place himself into the story as
a different minor character. This is a creative technique that few, if any, other authors have ever used,
further emphasizing the notion of how exceptional a writer Vonnegut truly was. Another creative
technique he uses within the novel is the fact that he reveals the plot in an unconventional way.
Because Vonnegut makes the decision to allow Billy to time travel, the story follows Billy s time
traveling destinations, resulting in the plot being ultimately revealed out of its standard sequence. The
creativity it must have taken to even think of a technique such as this is unfathomable even today, let
alone forty years ago. Any avid reader craving something new and unique would appreciate the
peculiarities of this book, especially since these creative techniques carry with them deeper, more
powerful

Avram In The Odyssey
In this parsha we meet our first forefather Avraham, who is commanded by Hashem to leave his land,
his birthplace and fathers house to go to a land he will inherit. This happens about 2000 years before
the common era, and Hashem promises to make him into a great nation and bless him throughout the
world. Avraham becomes a man with a historic mission, to become the father of a new nation which
would through its suffering and pain, profoundly influence our civilization. Who was this man
Avraham, whom Hashem chose to enter into an everlasting covenant? Avraham was the son of a
pagan, and grew up in an environment of evil. But he rose above this environment and created a way
of life and religion we call our heritage. He chose to be different to become the first Hebrew, (which
means literally from the other side ), he spoke with moral standards of his time, and pursued his quest
for a better and more meaningful way. Avraham showed that a person can make a new beginning. By

Job Cost Of Job Costing
Introduction
Accounting to determine which items or jobs are generating the most net income can be extremely
important to financial managers in today s economy. Managers must determine which products are
making performing the best so that they can capitalize on profits. This also helps to know when it
should cut its losses. There are three very useful methods of identifying costs associated to a particular
item which are job order costing, activity based costing (ABC), process costing. Job order costing
isolates costs to a particular job. ABC compares multiple items which are manufactured. Process
costing assesses items which are massed produced and provides analysis to the cost through the
various stages from beginning to completion. This essay will explain each of these methods and then
provide examples for each of them.
Job Order Costing
Job costing is a method of calculating the amount of dollars that it will take to perform a job in its
entirety for the entity performing the work. Job costing is a valuable tool for managers of financial
information in a company because it is an efficient way of learning which jobs have made money and
which jobs have lost money. This is because the job costing method can trace or link how much
resource such as labor, material, and overhead are spent to complete the job. Steven Bragg states that
Job costing is the most common method for marshaling cost accounting information into a data
structure containing usable information . He then

Women During The Han Dynasty
Women during the Han Dynasty
Lessons for Women is a book of conduct written during the Han Dynasty by Ban Zhao (C. 45 120) to
advise the women of her family on the proper conduct of a wife. Ancient China around this time was a
Confucian state in which the society was control by the belief in order and harmony. The book
contains seven chapters that talks about: humility, husband and wife, respect and caution, womanly
qualifications, wholehearted devotion, implicit obedience, and harmony with younger brothers and
sisters in law. This work of literature reflects on how a proper women was to behave obediently to the
husband, by being devoted and respectful to avoid humility to herself, her parents and her clan. It
gives the readers an idea of the power that men had over women during this time period and the
exceptions for both roles of husband and wife. Lessons of women informs the readers that women
during the Han Dynasty had no control over their own lives and the philosophy of Confucian had a
huge influence on the society s everyday life. Ban Zhao emphasizes the importance of distinctions
between men and women, and their separate natures.
From the time of birth a woman is taught to be a good wife, she learns how to submit herself to her
husband and understands that her sole purpose in life is to serve him. Humility was not something that
a women was to bring to her family. Rituals were held because it was believed there were a necessary

The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams
In literature, stories traditionally revolve around a main protagonist, whom the fate of the other
characters rests upon. The protagonist is often expected to struggle and bear important duties in order
to achieve success. The main antagonist, on the other hand, is usually responsible for the struggles that
the protagonist must overcome, and serves as a threat to the characters. The character of Tom in
Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie, serves as a flawed protagonist. He bears the heavy
responsibility of supporting his family, but also struggles against the boredom and stress of his
everyday life. Despite his positive traits, he clearly shows contempt for each of his family members,
and longs for adventure away from them. Tom s father, whom is only mentioned by the characters, can
be considered an antagonist. His abandonment of his family led to the many difficulties that Tom,
Laura, and Amanda face. As such, he burdens the family and ultimately has influence on Tom s
decision to leave them. Williams uses various literary devices to enhance the theme that one must act
without pity in order to escape life s struggles. The Glass Menagerie takes place in St. Louis, in 1937.
The main protagonist, Tom, works in a shoe factory, and his only source of enjoyment is writing
poetry and watching movies. His sister, Laura, is a crippled woman with little confidence in herself.
Their mother, Amanda, attempts to secure a safe future for Laura, but is ineffective in raising

How To Write An Essay About The Holocaust
The Holocaust
Everyone looks at the Holocaust as just a time in history to be remembered. That was exactly my

histories, my view was instantly switched; almost too much. As most people don t like to think about
the past and bad things that have happened, I think everyone needs to take a few minutes just to
understand the holocaust. The people of the Jewish community during this time had it hard. They were
attacked for no reason and were treated like dirt when they are the same as anyone else. Imagine being

Prejudice In 12 Angry Men With Clouded Judgement
12 Angry Men with Clouded Judgement.
An opinion is a judgment based on facts Fowler, H. Ramsey. The Little, Brown Handbook.
Prejudice can often be formed without one even realize they are prejudiced, many of the characters in
12 Angry Men, have done as such, allowing their prejudice to not allow them fully evaluate the case
unbiasedly. Jurors three, ten and seven are swayed by their prejudiced beliefs against the accused, as
the deliberate the accused fate, juror ten states his type are no good (12 Angry Men). This prejudice
which all of them share, justifiers their neglecting to inspect the evidence and testimony given rather
than simply accepting it at face value. The film 12 Angry Men conveys how difficult it can be to set
aside prejudiced views through jurors three, seven, and ten. The film also enables the reader to see
how prejudice such as past experiences, ingnorance or misinformation, and stereotyping can cloud
ones judgement.
The film uses juror three to demonstrate how past experiences can influence ones prejudice in decision
making. Juror 3, who has a prejudice against the accused, and thinks the kid is under privileged and
doesn t deserve a second chance, which is reason enough for him to conclude the accused is guilty. As
the discussion continues as to the verdict of the trial, juror three grows frustrated and angrily refutes,
What is this? Love your under privileged bother week or something? (12 Angry Men). Due to his past
experiences with young men, he is ready to sentence the defendant to death with weak circumstantial
evidence, grows angry as the other jurors question what he refers to as facts and claims You can t
refute facts (12 Angry Men) As all the Jurors except juror twelve get more and more frustrated by the
slowed process, juror three begins to see through his prejudice, and disperses the other jurors
interruptions by saying Be quiet, we ll all get a turn (12 Angry Men). It finally becomes clear, he sees
similarities with his son he had a falling out with several years ago, and puts this prejudice aside and
excepts that the evidence is too circumstantial to convict a kid for murder, and sentence him to death.

Organizational Effect on Employee Psychology
Organizational Effect on Employee Psychology Organizations are defined as a social group of
individuals who come together to achieve a common goal or particular purpose. The success of an

by a clear and concise mission statement and supported by a great employee base that executes the
plans. When we magnify the layers of a successful organization, it usually reveals great leadership and

I will discuss the key factors that are leading to the challenges this organization is facing today.
Furthermore, I will propose a plan to address the root cause of the problems the organization is having

overall morale of the organization.
The Organizational Challenge Few organizations can say they have been around for over 100 years,
let alone 125 years. More remarkable, few can say that they have steadily increased revenue and
market share during this entire stretch of time. This organization can proudly state this fact, and is a
well known retail beast that has sold everything from clothing to cars, and hats to homes. This
organization has been nationally recognized over the past 100 years for excellence in retail and
revolutionizing shopping, as we know it including having the famous catalogue for shoppers to

technology moguls mind. Organizations like this are bound to have I O psychology related issues, and
this was certainly the case when I worked for them from 2011 to 2013. I was a General Manager (GM)

The Karolinska Scales of Personality (KSP) comprises 135 items with a four point response format
grouped in 15 scales (Ramklint Ekselius, 2003; Schalling et al., 1987). All individual raw data from
the personality test KSP was transformed into normative T scores (mean ± SD: 50 ± 10) (Gustavssonet

Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used for pattern recognition and image compression.
Out of 100 individuals, 66 are found to be fulfilling the DSM IV criteria for alcohol dependence and
the remaining 34 the criteria for alcohol abuse. They found the excessive alcohol consumption was
started 40 ± 10 years (n = 96) and continued for 9 ± 8 years (n = 95). The T scores for male
individuals and male controls are also given. The PCA score plot indicated that there are no between

Negative Reflection Of My Facebook Profile
As I started looking through my Facebook profile, it felt like my account was not very professional
when comparing it with other people s profiles. There are countless posts that might be perceived as
aggressive, argumentative, assertive and responsive. I do not believe that my account reflects my shy,
well mannered public self as I am more vocal when I comes to my Facebook profile. Looking through
the posts and comments I have made, it seems to be very clear that I have no worries about an
employer going through my profile as I believe the decision of whether to hire or not should not
depend on one s social media account. It is a poor reflection of how one will be at work because, work
is a professional setting where it will be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These statuses were assertive and argumentative, however they garnered a lot of comments and likes. I
was very responsive to those who commented, replying to all of them, either defending my point or
explaining the rationale behind the statuses. I was showing off my confident personality and treating
myself as though I was superior to those around me. Then there was another post saying to
temporarily withdraw from physical affection of any kind. The rationale behind that was to keep her
wanting more. If you found yourself touching her first a lot, you should withdraw from a significant
amount of time. That is unless she initiates it; if she initiates it, do not refuse the touch. This will
subconsciously show her how much she needs you. To add onto that, I commented saying you are
entitled to her body and it is her job to protect herself from unwanted affection. You should not be
wasting your time guessing how much touch she is comfortable with. Start with gentle contact and
then escalate quickly. She is there for you to play and enjoy, and it is up to her to determine how much
touch she is comfortable with. I gave advices that many people agreed with, including girls. I even
remember sometimes girls direct messaged me asking if I knew someone like that. Then there were

Racism In Othello And The Tempest By William Shakespeare
Racism in Shakespeare or Absurdity?
Is there racism in Shakespeare s works or is this notion absurd? Shakespeare may not be racist, but
two of his plays do contain racism. One may argue that Shakespeare does not openly speak of racism
in his plays, but Shakespeare does write with the idea of racism in mind, because his characters do
make comments that can be considered racist. In Shakespeare s plays Othello and The Tempest, the
underlying idea of racism is present in these works, and his audiences can come to this conclusion,
because of the way the characters, Othello and Caliban, are unjustly treated due to their appearances.
In the play Othello, the idea of racism is first revealed in Act One, Scene One. Iago and Rodrigo are

Therefore, Brabanzio should not be so distraught about the marriage. This leads to the following
question: Why is Othello not good enough in Brabanzio s eyes, when he is supposedly viewed as a
friend? The answer is simple. The reason why Brabanzio has Othello as a guest in his home is because
of all the good deeds he has done for Venice. Othello is good enough to be friends with Brabanzio, but
Othello is not good enough to be a son in law, because of his outsider status and skin color. Later in
the play, Brabanzio s claim of the use of magic may be true, when Othello freaks out about
Desdemona losing the handkerchief, because Othello claims that it is supposed to keep her faithful to
him. Others may argue that the handkerchief is merely a keepsake from his past, but since he goes into
detail of the handkerchief s power and history, Brabanzio s argument about magic no longer seems
that farfetched; therefore, this scene helps prove Brabanzio s sanity. By proving Brabanzio s sanity,
audiences can now come to the conclusion that Brabanzio s outrage about the news of the wedding is
due to the fact that he is racist and does not approve of Othello, because of his dark skin color and
outside status. Overall, these are just some of the numerous examples of racism throughout the play
Othello.
Like the play Othello, The Tempest also, portrays numerous examples of the idea of

The Phonological Growth Of Language Study Through...
This history of phonological theory has been in bloom since it was generated some 150 years ago. The
depth of phonological phenomena has, in actuality, been in abstract existence since the first spoken
language was developed as it is a natural component of all human language. In this paper I hope to
produce a clear, concise analysis and discussion of the phonological growth of language study through
perception and production while introducing the criticisms and problems associated with these
theories. The history of phonological theory goes farther back than phonemics, but for the sake of
space and time, I will start during the beginning of the 20th century and finish with a contrastive
analysis of the present theories of phonology.
The development of modern phonology theory began with the ideas presented by Ferdinand de
Saussure, a Swiss linguist in the late 19th century. His book Course in General Linguistics provoked
the switch from a diachronic to a synchronic phonological examination. Synchronic linguistics, the
study of contemporary spoken languages, was developed by Jan Baudouin de Courtenay with the
structuralist linguistic theory of Saussure. This analysis of phonology prompted the establishment of
the Prague Circle.
Two famous students from this circle, Roman Jakobson and Nikolai Trubetzkoy, went on to define the
phoneme and create a popular analysis of language at the time called structuralism. The mentalist
interpretation of a phoneme, credited by Courtenay,

Positives And Negatives Of Sorority
Animal house, Sydney White, and The Revenge of the Nerds. These are movies about Fraternities and
Sororities that everyday people associate with Greek life; alcohol, drugs, hazing,Togo parties,
manipulation, and debauchery in forms of the imagination. Although these things do happen on many
levels, as the war cry of the title Admit Nothing, Deny Everything , there are many positives. I have
personally been positively influenced by a sorority that has permanently changed my life forever. My
freshman year of college, I went through recruitment and was chosen to be a pledge sister for Delta
Zeta Sorority. I was immediately surrounded by older DZ sisters who became my friends and mentors.
I was also made to jump out of my comfort zone with the many projects, and fundraisers the sorority
did. I worked with hearing impaired children, I created the homecoming float, and I organized formals
and mixers. Thoughthese activities I as able to break out of my shell and have no fear of raising my
hand and saying I ll do it . Although Greek life might not be for everybody, there are positives factors
to being a part of it.Fraternities and Sororities have made a tremendous turn from where they first
began in 1776. From being kept secret, because of social status, to now being heard of in every home.
Not many people understand the full meaning of Fraternity and Sorority, being in a sorority or
fraternity is always having a group of people to look out of them, too always stick up for

The Construction Industry Development Board
1.0 Introduction
Construction industry plays an important part as a stimulant in Malaysia s economy. The Construction
Industry Development Board (CIDB) was established as a government agency to facilitate and act as a
catalyst to the development, is generally representing the construction industry to the government and
the public. (Chan, 2009). According to Hiap (2012), the CIDB published a ten year Construction
Industry Master Plan (CIMP) towards the end of year 2007, the aim is to refocus the strategic position
and charting the future direction of the industry.
The construction industry is one of the highest contributing in country s economy. This industry
provides job opportunities to the people in different sector such as agriculture, mining and quarrying,
manufacturing, construction and services. Davis and Tomasin s study stated the fatalities happened
were caused by most of the usage of equipment such as conditions of scaffolds, power access
equipments, ladder, excavations and so on, which lead to the risk of physical injury. Falls,
electrocutions, vehicles rollover, personnel run over by vehicle and excavation cave ins were listed as
the top five categories of fatalities in the construction industry (IPEDR, 2011). Therefore, the
Malaysian government have been implemented the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994
in the industry. In general, OSHA is an organization formed to guard the safety of the workplace and
safety regulations. OSHA collects data of

The Issues On The Home Front
There is no hiding the problems in the United States. Put that on hold: how about the issues on the
home front. That s right, there is a service opportunity in our area right now, and we need your help!
How can you help, you say? The service doesn t require donations of money, but we are seeking your
time and energy to assist our local Native American tribe. The drive to help is three main purposes:
To educate the public that are unaware of the circumstances on the South Dakota Indian Reservations.
To serve the youth in the Yankton Sioux Reservation.
To take action in resolving overdue concerns in our local communities.
Education, Service, and Action are the three tasks that must be met to accomplish our purposes.
What does it really mean to serve someone or something? The United States has become out of touch
with the idea of serving someone. When we think of service we think of a server in the food industry.
When was the last time you had the opportunity to serve someone whole heartedly without expecting
anything in return? Have you ever heard of Pay It Forward? In the average day of a middle class
citizen when is there time between a 40 hour a week job, a family to take care of, and any extra time
to have for yourself where does the time to serve come from? We would assume that most of the time
we expect the favor to be returned no matter who it is. And sometimes we even get a little ticked off, if
it s not fair that we worked harder than the other person. Even

History of the Declaration of Independence and The...
In one corner we have a nation, fed up with the corruption and constant bullying of their big brother
nation, seeking the approval of the world for a revolution. In the other corner we have a nation, bent
on gaining the equality among all individuals in their state, coming together to lay down the law to
their king. Both America and France had a thirst for a new equal nation and government in which
power was given to the people and not to a tyrannical figure. Individuals from both of these countries
sat down and wrote up a letter of declaration in demand of the freedom that they so rightfully
deserved. Both of them won that freedom, as the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of
the Rights of Man and of the Citizen flourished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first and most prominent argument I have with these two documents is there method in itself.
Both declarations gave direct and justified reasons for a revolution, but the Declaration of
Independence seemed to have taken a passive role. It argued that King George and the British were
wronging them and that America was at their last straw. America was being oppressed and grew tired
of it. The Declaration stated that the British were infringing on their God given rights as humans,
imposing taxes without consent, denying fair trials, as well as many other grievances that attacked the
American colonies. Therefore, with their back against the wall they had to separate themselves from
the British and establish their own government or live their lives in fear forever. In contrast, The
French s Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen took on a more active role. The French
people, also known as the National Assembly, banded together and came up with a list of seventeen
laws that they felt gave power to the people over those of nobility. They felt that the king and the
noble s lack of concern or ignorance of the rights of man was the cause of such a corrupted
government, and that gave them a justified reason for revolt. The Declaration of the Rights of Man
shows more comparison to America s Constitution or Bill of Rights than to the Declaration of
Independence. It stated the rights they were warranted and an obligation for the government to

Understanding Military Culture
There are major changes that have transformed the military from the old force which was seen to
focus only on winning battles without caring much about their forces to the highly skilled force it is
today that is all rounded. In order to comprehend the changes in the military there is need for
understanding the military culture. Like any other culture, military culture has evolved from
unorganized forms of administration and organization to the current modern force it is today. There
are different viewpoints on military culture and understanding it requires delving in their systems.
Explanation of military culture has two dimensions; one, the actual service where the force is required
to interact with others while serving and two, the personal life of the veteran and the life off the
military environment.
The picture that explains best about the need to understand military culture is the citizen solder that
serves for a few years and is not likely to return t active duty but associates with the military though
totally disengaged. The lives of military in active service and the veteran are different but swayed by
the same forces, the military culture. Therefore, there is need to understand the military structure and
basic military culture tenets and its elements such as missions, core values and ideals. This paper
seeks to illustrate the importance of military culture training, its foundations and its effects both
locally and internationally.

Why Is Austria-Hungary Insatible
Insatiable is defined as impossible to satisfy and is used by the doorkeeper towards the man in
response to a question. It demonstrates annoyance towards the man for asking so many questions
while waiting for the doorkeeper to let him to the Law. It gives a human quality to the seemingly
immortal, ageless doorkeeper; for the first time in the story, we see him show emotion towards the
doorkeeper, even if that emotion is just slight annoyance. This also adds a bit of humor to Kafka s
story, as the doorkeeper calls the man insatiable despite owning all of his possessions, including the
flea infested fur coat that he now wears. The word insatiable adds a layer of irony to the passage the

It is safe to say that the personification of the Law being an abstract idea rather than a right and the
doorkeeper blocking access to something that is often considered as such in other societies is meant as
criticism towards the Austrian government. In order to understand the context that Before the Law was
written, one must first understand why Austria Hungary failed. In 1915, the year Before the Law was
written, Austria was known as the Austrian Empire and was part of a constitutional union between the
Kingdom of Hungary, therefore being known as Austria Hungary. At this time, the Austrian Empire
was in the midst of dissolution. It collapsed in 1918. There were three parts to this rule: the monarchy,
the Austrian government, and the Hungarian government. The Austrian and Hungarian governments
fell under separate parliaments, which had their own prime minister. When these parliaments were
linked, the rule fell under the Emperor King. Neither half could have views contrary to the monarch.
The monarchy could also veto any legislation, dissolve assemblies, and call new parliamentary
elections in both Austria and Hungary. In Austria, the monarch s power was even greater the Emperor
King could remove cabinet members and even the Prime

Metaphors In Their Eyes Were Watching God
This novel is the story of Janie Crawford s quest for love, told, as noted prior, as a casing. The novel
Their Eyes Were Watching God, presents numerous topics, for example, love and marriage, discourse
and hush, and gender parts. Zora Neale Hurston makes a radiant showing of making what men like Joe
Starks felt the run of the mill parts were for the female African American. In this exposition I will
introduce an outline of the love experienced by the real character Janie with her husbands,
examination of characters of Janie, Joe, Phoeby and porch sitters, Furthermore I will likewise examine
the metaphors, symbols utilized by the Hurston alongside my sentiment about the title of the novel.
The thought of Janie about love is extremely exceptional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their Eyes Were Watching God is a content lavishly invested with importance and reason which
utilizes idyllic dialect and folkloric symbolism to pass on its messages. Hurston utilizes numerous
symbols and metaphors as a part of Their Eyes Were Watching God to add to Janie s story. Symbols
stand for, speak to, or recommend something else. A metaphor, in any case, is a more interesting
methods of expression containing a suggested examination, in which a statement or expression
conventionally and fundamentally utilized for one thing is connected to an alternate. One of the
common metaphors in the novel is the picture of the skyline. As Janie ascensions the pear tree to see
what exists around her, she sees the skyline. The skyline additionally plays a part at dusk, a period
when the patio sitters sit outside toward the end of a working day to watch the sun set. Janie needs to
make an excursion to the skyline, and her trip turns into a primary metaphor in the story. At dawn,
Janie goes not far off to the train station to meet and wed Tea Cake, trusting that this experience will
take her to the skyline. The skyline is an image of Janie s long lasting quest for happiness. Toward the
end of the story, Pheoby is on edge to look for her own particular skyline with her husband, as an
aftereffect of listening to Janie s

How Did Isolationist Sentiment Influence US Foreign Policy...
As the United States went through two World Wars between 1914 and 1941, isolationist sentiment had
a large influence on US foreign policy. There were many causes for such isolationist beliefs as the era
included many significant changes. The main change that Americans experienced during this time
period was the immense difference in the decades, with a roaring economy in the 1920s following the
first World War and a Great Depression in the 1930s which would end with the start of the second
World War. With such large changes occurring within the lives of Americans during this entire period
of time, isolationist sentiment rose. As such beliefs became widespread, US foreign policy became
influenced by such isolationism. Isolationism meant that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With such events occurring quickly in such a small time period, the second World War came as a
massive shock. Yet again, Americans called for isolationism and neutrality as they believed America
should focus on ending the Great Depression, not worrying about and dealing with the international
issues of other nations and peoples. By analyzing Document 5, it is clear that many Americans still
believe in isolationism during the Great Depression. Bennett Champ Clark states in his Defense of the
First Neutrality Act that the desire to keep the United States from becoming involved in any war
between foreign nations seems practically unanimous among the rank and file of American citizens.
Americans influenced the US foreign policy yet again as the First Neutrality Act was passed in 1935.
By analyzing Document 6, it is clear that President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the choices he made
were still influenced by isolationist sentiment as he states in his Quarantine Speech that it is my
determination to adopt every practicable measure to avoid involvement in war. However, it is clear in
President Roosevelt s speech that he knew that entering the war was inevitable as he states that the
peace of the world and the welfare and security of every nation, including our own is today being
threatened by that very thing (war). Although the United States tried its best to not enter the second
World War for many years, it could not avoided by the end of 1941. On December 7, 1941, Pearl
Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. The federal government s response to this attack can be analyzed
in Document 7, President Roosevelt s Pearl Harbor Address to the Congress of the United States. In
response to the attack, Roosevelt calls for Congress to declare . . . a state of war has existed between
the United States and the

  • 2. Reflective Essay About Physical Education Physical education and health are the most essential classes because they are the only ones capable of lengthening one s life through establishing habits of healthy living. Upon overhearing my high school gym and health teacher state this, I began to consider how the statement relates to my identity as an athlete. Also, I smiled and thought to myself, I can t wait to tell my mom what he just said! Now I can support my love for gym class and dreadful attitude toward other courses. Throughout my life, the term athletic consistently has been used to describe me. From the age of seven to thirteen, my brothers and I attended a summer camp, called Crossroads. Incorporated within the eight hour day was snack time, choice time, lunch time, a biblical lesson, song singing, small groups, and a sports session. Before the day officially began, during choice time, and the sports session, I delighted in playing sports and competing alongside peers and counselors. At the end of our last ever day of camp, the counselors held an impromptu graduation where they handed out some awards and displayed their gratitude for witnessing our growth and contributions over the years. Jake Veenstra , called out one of the head counselors. Shocked and bashful, I slowly walked up to the stage confused by what I was recognized for while my face quickly transformed into deeper tones of red. Eventually, I made it up to the stage and read the award. Most Versatile Athlete. I thought to myself, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I do that sometimes, especially with girls like Elizabeth Bennet. Elizabeth Bennet and I are similar because we are brave, strong and have many sisters. Elizabeth Bennet and I are similar because we are both brave and gallant. In the movie Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Elizabeth Bennet stands up for what she wants no matter what even if it means her getting judged as a result. She is also brave because she was willing to run into a swarm of zombies to save someone, even if it meant her death, which she knew. I am just as courageous as her because when my friend was being picked on in front of the whole school I was the one who stood up for them, even though I knew in my mind that I could be judged by everyone because I knew that I was a good person for that and I didn t care what anyone else thought of me. ... • 6. Criminal Behavior And Strict Liability When studying criminal behavior and strict liability, exploring the possible causations that may contribute to criminal behavior is important. Examining family backgrounds, genetic make ups and parenting are some factors that influence criminal behavior. Understand the possible risk factors of criminal behavior helps us to better understand why people commit crimes. This paper will attempt to critically analyze two articles on the concept of criminal behavior and law as it pertains to strict liability. Criminal Conduct In the early 1960 s the movement of the Model Penal Code transformed American criminal law by the American Law Institute. The MPC seek to bring analytical clarity to the definition and interpretation of criminal statutes that were encrusted with ill defined law terms such as malice aforethought (Brown, 2012, p. 287). Criminal conduct can be defined as conduct of an offender that leads to and including a commission of an unlawful act (USLEGAL, n.d.) A recent current event that is a prime example of criminal behavior or criminal conduct is the tragedy that occurred at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. A former disgruntled employee, Vester Lee Flanagan aka Bryce Williams opened fire on WDBJ news reporter Alison Parker, camera man Adam Ward and chamber of commerce executive woman Vicki Gardner during a live morning broadcast. • 7. Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse-Five Analysis Tragedies occur all around us every day, yet we only hear of the massacres the media wants us to hear. For years, wars, famines, and discrimination have torn this world apart, but little has been done nationally to oppress them. However, many individuals have attempted to expose the cruelness of these tragedies through their works of art and literature. Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is one such novel. This book explores the devastation of World War II, specifically the bombing of Dresden, Germany, with witty humor and anti war undertones. The novel follows the personal life of Billy Pilgrim, a World War II veteran, optometrist, and time traveler. Billy is able to visit any part of his life that he so chooses, a trick he learned after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slaughterhouse Five, however, is no ordinary novel. Kurt Vonnegut, being his unique self, uses several creative methods and techniques to tell the story of Billy Pilgrim. One such technique is his implementation of himself as a minor character into the story. Although Billy is the character that Vonnegut uses to portray his own experiences at Dresden, he decides to place himself into the story as a different minor character. This is a creative technique that few, if any, other authors have ever used, further emphasizing the notion of how exceptional a writer Vonnegut truly was. Another creative technique he uses within the novel is the fact that he reveals the plot in an unconventional way. Because Vonnegut makes the decision to allow Billy to time travel, the story follows Billy s time traveling destinations, resulting in the plot being ultimately revealed out of its standard sequence. The creativity it must have taken to even think of a technique such as this is unfathomable even today, let alone forty years ago. Any avid reader craving something new and unique would appreciate the peculiarities of this book, especially since these creative techniques carry with them deeper, more powerful ... • 14. The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams In literature, stories traditionally revolve around a main protagonist, whom the fate of the other characters rests upon. The protagonist is often expected to struggle and bear important duties in order to achieve success. The main antagonist, on the other hand, is usually responsible for the struggles that the protagonist must overcome, and serves as a threat to the characters. The character of Tom in Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie, serves as a flawed protagonist. He bears the heavy responsibility of supporting his family, but also struggles against the boredom and stress of his everyday life. Despite his positive traits, he clearly shows contempt for each of his family members, and longs for adventure away from them. Tom s father, whom is only mentioned by the characters, can be considered an antagonist. His abandonment of his family led to the many difficulties that Tom, Laura, and Amanda face. As such, he burdens the family and ultimately has influence on Tom s decision to leave them. Williams uses various literary devices to enhance the theme that one must act without pity in order to escape life s struggles. The Glass Menagerie takes place in St. Louis, in 1937. The main protagonist, Tom, works in a shoe factory, and his only source of enjoyment is writing poetry and watching movies. His sister, Laura, is a crippled woman with little confidence in herself. The film uses juror three to demonstrate how past experiences can influence ones prejudice in decision making. Shakespeare may not be racist, but two of his plays do contain racism. One may argue that Shakespeare does not openly speak of racism in his plays, but Shakespeare does write with the idea of racism in mind, because his characters do make comments that can be considered racist. In Shakespeare s plays Othello and The Tempest, the underlying idea of racism is present in these works, and his audiences can come to this conclusion, because of the way the characters, Othello and Caliban, are unjustly treated due to their appearances. Therefore, Brabanzio should not be so distraught about the marriage. This leads to the following question: Why is Othello not good enough in Brabanzio s eyes, when he is supposedly viewed as a friend? The answer is simple. The reason why Brabanzio has Othello as a guest in his home is because of all the good deeds he has done for Venice. Othello is good enough to be friends with Brabanzio, but Othello is not good enough to be a son in law, because of his outsider status and skin color. Later in the play, Brabanzio s claim of the use of magic may be true, when Othello freaks out about Desdemona losing the handkerchief, because Othello claims that it is supposed to keep her faithful to him. Others may argue that the handkerchief is merely a keepsake from his past, but since he goes into detail of the handkerchief s power and history, Brabanzio s argument about magic no longer seems that farfetched; therefore, this scene helps prove Brabanzio s sanity. By proving Brabanzio s sanity, audiences can now come to the conclusion that Brabanzio s outrage about the news of the wedding is due to the fact that he is racist and does not approve of Othello, because of his dark skin color and outside status. The depth of phonological phenomena has, in actuality, been in abstract existence since the first spoken language was developed as it is a natural component of all human language. In this paper I hope to produce a clear, concise analysis and discussion of the phonological growth of language study through perception and production while introducing the criticisms and problems associated with these theories. The history of phonological theory goes farther back than phonemics, but for the sake of space and time, I will start during the beginning of the 20th century and finish with a contrastive analysis of the present theories of phonology. The development of modern phonology theory began with the ideas presented by Ferdinand de Saussure, a Swiss linguist in the late 19th century. His book Course in General Linguistics provoked the switch from a diachronic to a synchronic phonological examination. Synchronic linguistics, the study of contemporary spoken languages, was developed by Jan Baudouin de Courtenay with the structuralist linguistic theory of Saussure. This analysis of phonology prompted the establishment of the Prague Circle. Two famous students from this circle, Roman Jakobson and Nikolai Trubetzkoy, went on to define the phoneme and create a popular analysis of language at the time called structuralism. The Declaration stated that the British were infringing on their God given rights as humans, imposing taxes without consent, denying fair trials, as well as many other grievances that attacked the American colonies. Therefore, with their back against the wall they had to separate themselves from the British and establish their own government or live their lives in fear forever.
