The Endless Cycle Of Recidivism
The Endless Cycle of Recidivism Recidivism is such a significant problem here in New Mexico.
Many tend to throw it off and label it just a prison problem. But in all reality and factuality it s a whole
lot more than that; it s a societal problem that affects our whole community, it affects our state as a
whole. Recidivism is the act of reoffending or falling back into criminal behavior after one has been
incarcerated and released. Recidivism tends to more common, than uncommon here in New Mexico.
Never Changing History
The revolving door of recidivism is extremely different than it was only just a few decades ago
though. Nowadays there are so much more offenders being arrested and released from prison than
there was in the past. Not to mention most of them nowadays have served significantly longer prison
terms than those offenders in the past, which in turn contributes to recidivism and the increasing rates
over the years. Very few and far in between ever really received the benefit of the vast rehab or even
pre release programs in the prisons, so in turn they end up right back where there started. They go in
without and education and they come out without an education; they go in with no social skills and
come out with no skills, they go in criminal and come out an even better criminal. How does that all
work?? Who knows but lock them up.
Simple Statistics in New Mexico
Most studies that I found reported that up to 2/3 of NM offenders will reoffend within three

Personal Narrative-Esteem And Skin Cancer Research
1) People always say the sky is the limit . I believe that one shouldn t set limits for themselves. In fact,
we should strive to achieve all the dreams we have in our hearts, which is an ideology that I live by. I
m only 17 years old, yet I have already found myself interested in many aspects of life. For instance, I
taught myself how to play the guitar and juggle. I have continued practicing these talents for the past 5
years. Moreover, I have visited over 30 countries worldwide, which include Spain, Japan, Argentina,
plus several states in the USA. Due to my broad international travel experiences, I was able to get
knowledge about other cultures and nations, which has not only enhanced my way of thinking but has
also enriched the minds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I decided that I wanted to carry out a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research. I chose to hold the
fundraiser at a mall due to the high influx of people shopping there. All the items that I gathered for
the fundraiser were all donated by my classmates at school. So when three friends of mine and I set up
our stand for the fundraiser, we were stopped by mall security. They stated that it s against mall
regulations for a fundraiser to take place without the permission of the mall owner. Plus, we were
fined $200 by the mall for attempting to commit an action against regulations. The fact that we were
fined such a high figure really put my friends and I down. However, I did not stay de motivated for
long, as I immediately set up a meeting with the mall owner, and after long hours of filing paperwork
for confirmation; my friends and I were allowed to hold the fundraiser. After completing that, I
realized that I am a determined person when it comes to a matter which is important to me. In the end,
the fundraiser raised an outstanding $3000. Moreover, I realized that there can be many dilemmas
associated when aiming to reach any goal in life, including goals that I wish to achieve in

Is There Real Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird
In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee, the author, uses theme to reveal a truth about life to
Jem and the readers. At the end of the chapter, Atticus and Jem are talking about Mrs. Dubose, their
mean, old neighbor who had passed away. A month earlier, Jem destroyed all of Mrs. Dubose s
camellia flowers because she had made a rude comment about Atticus to Scout and him. As a
punishment, Jem was forced to go over to her house and read a book to her every afternoon for a
month. Shortly after his month was over, Mrs. Dubose died. She had left a white camellia for Jem in
her will, causing him to freak out over it. Atticus explained to Jem that although Mrs. Dubose was a
racist and terrible person, she was very courageous underneath all ... Show more content on

Mrs. Dubose was a morphine addict; she knew that she would die very soon because of it. Because
she knew what the consequences would be and still fought through her addiction, she was a
courageous person in the eyes of Atticus. He explained to Jem his view on the situation, I wanted you
to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It s
when you know you re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no
matter what. (Lee 128). Atticus was trying to tell Jem that courage isn t a man holding a gun, who is
able to shoot any danger in his way. Courage is someone knowing that the situation they re going to
go through will have bad consequences, but they go up against it anyways. They choose to deal with it
head on, no matter what will happen to them in the future. That s what Atticus believed was courage,
which is why he thought that Mrs. Dubose fit that attribute. She was well aware of the consequences
of being a morphine addict; she knew for a fact that she had a few months left to live because of it.
Yet, she still stuck around and fought through it as long as she

The Road Not Taken By David Orr Analysis
The existence of poetry as an artform predates literacy itself. Over the course of history, poetry grew
from a verbal form of art, existing mainly in religious hymns, to becoming the universal language of
the heart . The work of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe, some of the most notable poets of
history, has resonated with generations of Americans. Although they lived in a Pre industrial world,
their work remains powerful because the themes expressed in their artwork can still be applied to
modern society. On the contrary, protruding among this group of ancient poets is Robert Frost, whose
modern work remains just as powerful, shaping generations through his questions of existence, and
depiction of loneliness in an indifferent universe. One of Frost s most celebrated poems: The Road
Not Taken, is influential not only in the literary world, but also within American culture. The poems
subsequent ripple through American life is analyzed by David Orr In his essay The Most Misread
Poem in America. Here, Orr argues that the misread of The Road Not Taken magnifies the underlying
issues in society s understanding of both Frost and poetry as a whole.
In any educational field, there is an inherent gap in knowledge between those trained, and the common
citizen. Orr uses an analysis of the misread of The Road Not Taken to expose this subsequent ample
gap in poetic understanding between poetry educatprs and the rest of American society, when he
states:

Personal Statement For Electronic And Communication...
I have pursued my education so far in Electronic Communication Engineering. Since Electronic
Communication Engineering has both electronics and computer subjects I had an opportunity to get to
know about hardware and software. Computers and their applications interest me. Whatever I did on
the academic and professional front, it carried a flavor of Computers all through. I feel proficiency in
Computers is only the remaining thing that has been left out in my journey with areas of study so far.
So this stands out as the obvious choice for me now to indulging totally in Computers. Since I m
working as an software engineer teaching and figuring out a new solution in computers application
intersect me, but that interest does not stop on computers development applications. It extends to
begin a research on Artificial Intelligence. I have always been very strong in the area of computers and
Electrical. From hardware to software I have natural inclination to understanding and scripting for the
computers applications.
To justify my eligibility to get into your respected university, I d like to produce my academic details
and relevant experience, which speak for themselves of my ever consistent proficiency and
performance. Starting from my high school I implemented science projects, which is considered as a
fairly impressive to do it more on it, secure 81.33% and continued the intersect even I entered my 12th

Martha Stewart is the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, L.L.C. (MSLO). Since Martha is
an icon known for her imagination and creativity, no wonder that it is reflected in her products. They
are comparable to the top brands in the country, which shows her class. MSLO is comprised of four

The indictment separately charged Stewart with securities fraud in connection with her artificial
manipulation of the price of MSLO common stock (Justice Government Press Release, 2003). The
charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty (Custom edition for Indiana Wesleyan University. 2007. p. 230).
The defendants filed a motion for a new trial, alleging that expert witness Lawrence F. Stewart,
director of the Forensic Services Division of the United States Secret Service, had committed perjury
in his testimony on behalf of the prosecution. Motion for new trial was denied by the court on the
basis that defendants cannot escape the fact that the jury acquitted both defendants of making false
statements relating to the existence of the $60 agreement, and the fact that ample evidence supports
the charges (Custom edition for Indiana Wesleyan University. 2007. p. 42).
Stewart did not enter into a plea bargaining agreement. A plea bargain is an agreement in which the
accused admits to a lesser crime than charged. In return, the government agrees to impose a lesser
sentence than might have been obtained had the case gone to trial. This saves costs, avoids risks of
trial, and reduces

5 Critical Factor Analysis
5.1 Critical Factors of Marriott s Global Success
5.1.1 High Brand Recognition
Marriott is well known for its strong brand portfolio in all the major markets around the world,
through its luxury brand like Marriott Hotels Resorts, and mid priced brands like Courtyard. As global
communication increases, these highly recognized brands are definitely the first choice for many
businessmen and travellers, for their global reputation and guaranteed quality.
5.1.2 Technical Factor
Marriott adopts a series of technical programs to support its customer service. One of them is Marriott
s Automated Reservation System for Hotel Accommodations (MARSH), which include a database of
all its customers around the world.2 When a guest enters the Marriott in New York, the system
recognizes that she stayed in Courtyard Tokyo last month and then she would receive a personalized
service. This way Marriott can provide a better customer service through information technology,
which is better than its competitors.
5.1.3 Economy Factor
The hotel industry is highly dependent on the economic scenarios. In the past few years, the fast
developing economy in Asia had strong positive influence on Marriott s globalization. The Asia
Pacific hotels industry grew by 21.7% in 2008 to reach a value of $116.5 billion. 4 While the hotel

Pros And Cons Of Elgin Marbles
Based on your course study and the summary found at About.com European History ...what is your
opinion? Should the Elgin Marbles stay in Britain or be returned to Greece? There is a debate between
the modern Britain and Greece about the Elgin Marbles. These Marbles are pieces of stone that were
removed from the Ancient Greek Parthenon, during the nineteenth century by Thomas Bruce, Seventh
Lord Elgin. They are now located in the British Museum. Therefore, the Greece government demands
for their Elgin Marbles or the Parthenon Sculptures to be send back to their rightful home, Greece. In
the modern days the argument has arisen about weather or not they should return the Elgin Marbles to
Greece? In my opinion, I think that it should remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I think it is best for this art to be distributed or be kept in Britain, so it can educate people
about the culture of Greece. This way, we can see the phenomenal of other cultures in a short distance
instead of traveling to that region. For example, Cyrus Cylinder or Cyrus Charter is a piece from the
old Persian Achaemenid which is in a British museum. Many Iranians people want this piece to return
back to Iran; however, I personally am against this movement, because I know if this piece returns to
Iran it might not be taken care of in a proper way at this time of a day (this might not be true in the
near future). By not having this piece of art in Iran just like the Elgin Marbles not being in Greece,
many people have a chance of learning about the historical aspects of these ancient arts by a near
experience, by visiting the museum in Britain. Another reason that I think Britain should keep the
Marbles is that by moving them to Britain, the Marbles were saved from getting ruined. In my
opinion, Lord Elgin had good intentions by sending the Marbles to Britain, because they were already
extensively damaged and was entirely neglected, as the Parthenon was in the hands of the Ottomans.
Which in conclusion, Greeks

Jealousy And Discrimination In Shakespeare s Othello
People discriminate for many different reasons: terror, jealousy, the desire for power, or a need to
dissociate themselves from other people. They can, thus, use someone s skin color (a hereditary trait
that cannot be altered) to express their hatred. In Shakespeare s play Othello, Othello, is a happily
wedded man and despite his African heritage, is a well respected general in the Venetian army. At the
beginning of the play, Othello has not experienced any type of discrimination, as of yet. However, by
Iago pointing out to Othello the existence of racist concepts and persuading him on taking action
against the individuals who are presumably harboring racist fueled indignations, Iago successfully
causes the ruin Othello and his wife Desdemona. Race is an issue throughout the play because of Iago
s hatred towards Othello. Also, Iago oftentimes uses racial insults against Othello. For example, when
Iago finds out about the elopement between Desdemona and Othello, he informs her father by saying

Due to the color of his skin other people also treat and view Othello as an outsider. Iago and Brabantio
are the ones who mainly see Othello as an outsider. This is obvious through the ways they talk about
him. For example, Iago suggests that Othello is an outsider when he is predicting that the offspring of
Iago and Desdemona will be subhuman. you ll have your daughter covered with a Barbary horse; you

Bourbon Reform In Spanish America And Pombaline Reforms In...
The Bourbon Reforms in Spanish America and the Pombaline Reforms in Brazil were both motivated
by the European state s interest in increasing defense, centralizing authority, and expanding economic
benefits of the their Latin American colonies. The Bourbon Reforms began under Philip V, the first
Bourbon King of Spain, and were initially concerned with proper and efficient governing of the
Spanish Colonies in America. These early reforming projects primarily focused on issues of
administration and jurisdiction. The viceroyalty of Peru was divided. In 1739 the viceroyalty of New
Granada was created with its capital in Bogotá. Later in 1776 the viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata
was established with its capital in Buenos Aires, which gained control of the silver mines and mint in
Potosí. One of the most significant of the Bourbon administrative reforms was the implementation of
the French style intendancy system, in which a government official, an intendant, was appointed
essentially to supervise an established territory, responsible for overseeing the military and financial
affairs of the region. Most all of the officials appointed during the administrative restructuring of the
Spanish colonies were Spanish born, this, combined with other Bourbon Reforms, which were meant
to limit the authority and autonomy of creoles, resulted in tension between different social classes in
the colonies. Defense was also of paramount importance to Bourbon Reformers. Many Spanish

Immediately after Rick has received the film s first star close up, Casablanca yields its first shot from
the point of view of a single individual at nine minutes into the film when Rick observes the German s
attempt to enter. For most of the remainder of the film, Rick s point of view is privileged, and his face
and body are centered. This is especially true when he is in the company of Victor Laszlo, who is
regularly consigned to the margins of the frame throughout the sequence when Rick first encounters
Ilsa and her husband in the cafe. All of this seems natural because the film has so carefully constructed
the viewer as a secret sharer in Rick s vision. The innumerable choices that are made in the production
of each shot in Casablanca are concealed by our acceptance of Rick as our surrogate. Although few
would find reason to object, the film chooses to deprive Laszlo of a flashback, not to mention an As
Time Goes By to unite him with Ilsa.
Ray points out that this concealing of the necessity for choice also governs the thematic paradigm in
Casablanca. The film invites the audience to identify with Rick rather than Laszlo even though official
American wartime sentiments are consistently voiced by Laszlo. Rick regularly insists upon
unmediated self interest, I stick my neck out for nobody , I m the only cause I m interested in , a
position that Ferrari explicitly identifies with a discredited American tradition: My dear Rick, when

The Ordeal Of Elizabeth Marsh
A biography is defined as a written account of another person s life. The key word in the definition
being another person s life. Biographies are full of great information that can often times make history
fun and exciting. Historical phenomenon is often portrayed through biographies allowing us to see
how society has developed over time and how the past and present may be similar. Although
biographies are full of information often times it is impossible to prove them to be true because they
aren t written by the person themselves. Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh is a great
example of an exciting biography that allows us to learn about British Imperial Rule through someone
else s eyes. In Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh it becomes clear very quickly just how
much British Imperial Rule effected Elizabeth s life. British Imperial Rule was so strict that Elizabeth
was forced to marry a man that would offer her the most social advancement not only for herself but
for her father as well. She originally was supposed to marry Henry John Phillips because his family
was very high up on the social latter, however it didn t end up working out. Instead Elizabeth marries
pretends and later marries James Crisp, not necessarily because of love but again because of the social
standings that come with it. James Crisps social and financial background was much greater than
Elizabeth s lowering his overall wealthy and social standing. The seven year war also had

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a motor neuron disease that has been known to physicians
since the late 1860 s. ALS was first discovered in 1869 by French neurologist Jean Martin Charcot,
but it was not until 1939 when a famous baseball player, Lou Gehrig, brought national and
international attention to the disease. Lou Gerhig, a New York Yankee baseball player, was known as
the Iron Horse for his tremendous achievement of playing 2,130 consecutive games. Gerhig developed

What is Lou Gehrig disease? (1 2). The diagnosis of ALS can be a difficult one. In the early stages of
the disease, many of the ALS symptoms mimic similar diseases that are considered treatable. Since
there is no one clinical or laboratory test to fully identify ALS, the diagnosis is made primarily
through careful assessment of the patient through their medical history and neurological testing. ALS
patients are sent from a general or family doctor to a neurologist who specializes in the nervous
system for further evaluation. Neurologists will commonly order the following tests to look for any
abnormalities:
Blood and Urine tests looking for any indicator of Creatinine kinase which the body produces when
muscle breaks down.
An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) a scan using radio waves and a powerful magnetic field to rule

Investigating The Amount Of Calcium On The Calcium Oxide...
Discussion:
The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium
600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods
were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of +/
0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during the
process of vacuum filtration were:
CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) → CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l)
CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) → CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq)
The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and 0.573 g
respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The results from
the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small deviation from the
original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder from the mortar and
pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what was expected, hence the
smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures between the two trials of vacuum
filtration. During the second trial, more care and attention was given to make sure that the entire
calcium supplement was transferred from the mortar and pestle to the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask.
Because more care was given, the calculated amount of calcium increased by 0.019 g.
The other method used in this lab was an acid base titration. The

about women`s security understanding that transform our understanding of men`s security. The link

importance of all forms of identity. Human security safeguards and expands the vital freedoms of
people, requires shielding people from acute threats and empowers them to change their lives. A
gender sensitive human security concept looks at conflict, post conflict, poverty, migration, economic
security, knowledge and values. A gendered instrument to achieve human security for both men and
women is to allow more women roles and seats in local and national governments, to shift gender
perspectives to the political debate. Gender refers to the social and cultural differences between the
sexes, is focused on the welfare of people, supports human rights and addresses post conflict
resolution.
Human security is a wise way forward, but a gender sensitive human security is a way of peace and
well being. As theory, a gender sensitive human security proposes to discuss two dimensions, the first
is about feminist critiques of the concept of human security, and the second

My Experience At Middle School
In middle school, 5th to 8th grade, I endure multiple adjective to describe my experience in middle
school. While in Middle School, I struggle with my appearance which has stayed as an adult. For I
always look at myself and all the flaws in my features, as my family members and/or friends state my
beauty features, I will brushed them off by stating the negative feature I visually observe. Until
recently, I ve overcome my inability of reading in public and/or to my peers. As my cousin passed
away tragically, his mother (my Aunt) asked if I will read his poem to her and a group of 50 strangers.
She knew my fear of public speaking, she also knew my dream of becoming a teacher and starting to a
career as a substitute teacher. Therefore, she knew I needed to overcome the fear of speaking. I am
extremely pleased with myself to speak clearly and to have the strength and encouragement of my
family to overcome my greatest fear with a poem in dedication to my beloved cousin. In 5th grade, my
insecurity resulted in myself being bullied by others for my appearance which I expressed still affects
myself as an adult. When conduction presentation as I displayed unconfident with my appearances,
therefore in English, I failed behind. I would hid in a corner and during reading groups, and when
asked to read, I would stutter and/or have an excuse for not being able to read. In 6th grade, being shy

My First Impression Of Bafa Bafa After Hearing The Rules
Bafa Bafa Reflection My first impression of Bafa Bafa after hearing the rules was that it would be an
enjoyable class activity. Little did I know, that the activity would go much deeper than just being a
class activity. Bafa Bafa simulates the human interactions in the world as we know it. It teaches a
lesson of diversities and miscommunications between them. It permits everyone and anyone to
experience the notion of being foreign or an outcast . In Bafa Bafa, I was a part of the Alpha culture.
In order to collaborate with my classmates, I had to dim my strong feminist attitude in order to play
along in the patriarch culture. I wasn t particularly phased by the close proximity and close contact
interactions as these were already engrained in me. I quickly realized that a connection was forming
between the students that were forming the Alpha culture. Whether this was due to close interactions
or passion of playing an act, I do not know, but the feeling of membership was strong and present. The
rules were even well tolerated and respected, as no deviants were actually really present in the group. I
was observing and becoming part of an in group mentality as referred to in Psychology. I was an
Alpha and by God, I will play this game well and right to be a really good Alpha. My mentality went
from being a class member of EDU 150 to being a member of culture Alpha. I also noticed a change in
regards to culture Beta, my other classmates from EDU 150. When presented at

Advantages Of Part Time Maids
In the past and even in some parts of the world today, having a full time maid is considered a status
symbol. This is because if you have a full time, stay in maid or help, you have enough money to pay
your personal employee s monthly dues, have a spare room in your home for her to stay in, and you
can afford to feed an additional mouth as well. Although it will definitely be a big help for you if you
have a full time personal maid since you won t have to do the usual household chores, it can definitely
be expensive. Part time maid service is modernly defined as an external service with specific delivery
of services to an individual, business, a club, and a home. Part time maids can be either a male or a

The Ten Main Organs In The Digestive System
The digestive system has a track that is about nine meters long. The ten main organs in this system are
the mouth, oesophagus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum,
and the anus. Throughout the digestive system food that we eat is broken down, nutrients we need are
absorbed from this, and the waste materials left at the end are eliminated.
The digestive process begins at the mouth. When you eat food, obviously, it enters your mouth first.
Then, in the mouth mechanical digestion, the physical act of breaking down food, happens through the
means of your teeth. Chemical Digestion , the act of breaking down food through chemicals, also
happens in the mouth due to the enzymes found in the saliva. Saliva ... Show more content on

The small intestine is the longest organ in this system as it is estimated at about four times your
height. This is where the most chemical digestion happens. The enzyme that breaks down fats in the
small intestine is called bile. Bile is produced in the liver, and stored in the gallbladder. Enzymes that
break down proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are the pancreatic enzymes as there are multiple different
ones. The liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreas are the three main organs in the digestive system in
which food does not pass through. The small intestine, however uses all these enzymes to break down
food chemically. Also, the small intestine has a lot of absorption. Absorption is the act of the digestive
system absorbing, or taking in, nutrients that our body needs. The small intestine is responsible for a
lot of absorption through finger like structures called villi. These villi also increase the surface area of
the small intestine allowing for maximum absorption and chemical digestion.
After the food leaves the small intestine it enters the large intestine. The large intestine s main job is to
absorb water. The direction of the large intestine is to go up, then right, down again, left once, and
finally down once

Impact Of Globalization On The World
Introduction:
Globalization is a movement that evolves over time. It heavily involves trade and business that builds
relationships with border countries and overseas. Technology is a critical part of globalization as it
involves connecting people in many ways. The number of minutes spent on cross border telephone
calls, on a per capita basis increased from 7.3 in 1991 to 28.8 in 2006 (IMF Staff, p. 271). The growth
of technology has made it possible for people to connect almost instantaneously. Snapchat, Skype, and
FaceTime allow people to have live conversations from far distances. Sharing information and ideas
allows for innovations. Many opportunities can occur from globalization such as growth in Capita,
better health care systems, advancement in technology.
Analysis:
Global trade enables different countries to share their products and resources. There is not a single
nation in the world that has all the resources to self sustain itself. Across the world, developed nations
can have the technology for innovation but lack the necessary resources. Developing nations such as
Latin American and African countries have the resources but need investment. Trade can be beneficial
to both members of the party in this instance. The WTO and WHO are organizations that helps a lot
with globalization. People can share their expertise in many different diverse settings. In times such as
war, resources in a country may run low and require other nations for assistance. Often, women

Relationships of Maxilla to Mandible
Before tackling the topic of articulators, the maxillomandibular relationship must first be introduced
as it provides the bases upon which dental prosthesis are fabricated and must be maximally duplicated
to ensure the success of a denture or restoration.
The temporomandibular joint involves the condylar head which moves along the petrous part of
temporal bone that makes up the mandibular/glenoid fossa. These condyles move the ... Show more

In addition, although it is unmovable unlike the mandible, the maxilla is in a fixed position relative to
the temporomandibular joint or the reference positions when the mandible has to function against the
maxillary teeth. This anatomical relationship, know as orientation relation, mandates its recording
when dealing with prosthesis or else it would lead to disharmony of occlusion and eventually harming
supporting and associated tissues.
In addition to the normal maxilla and mandibular positions discussed individually, the
maxillomandibular relationship must also be taken into consideration in the field of prosthodontics
and restorative dentistry. The maxillomandibular relationship accounts for the registration of any
positional relationship of the mandible with respect to the maxilla. The maxillomandibular relation
records are:

Carol Berkin Revolutionary Mothers Analysis
Carol Berkin s Revolutionary Mothers captures the spirits of women who affected, and were affected
by, the Revolutionary War. Berkin dives deep into the lives of women who played a vital role in the
war, but many that she examines are not the familiar patriot wives. She provides examples of all types
of women: patriot and loyalist, American and British, rich and poor, Indian and African American.
History books tend to romanticize the roles of women throughout wars, but Berkin presents heroines
in a more practical light. Berkin, professor of American history at Baruch College in New York,
believes that women s roles in the Revolutionary War were essential to Americans gaining their
independence. Berkin is the Presidential Professor of History at Baruch College. She is also a member
of the history faculty of the Graduate Center of City University of New York, where she taught early
American and women s history. Berkin has worked as a consultant on several PBS and History

The Relationship Between Planarians And A Centralized...
Planarians are members of the Platyhelminthes (flatworm) family and are triploblastic organisms
whose tissues arose from the three germ layers namely; ecto , meso and endoderm. They act as a good
model for cell proliferation and therefore regeneration. Planarians are composed of many organ
systems including a centralized nervous system (CNS) which is made up of bi lobed cephalic ganglia
that are positioned at the anterior end of the body. These ganglia are linked to two longitudinal ventral
nerve cords that run posteriorly along the worm. Planarians ingest and excrete through a muscular
feeding tube connected to the gut. The gastrovascular system is also composed of three intestinal
branches that deliver the nutrients.

In the last ten years, research on planarians has been greatly improved with two members of the
phylum being worked with, S. mediterranea and Dugesia japonica. S. mediterranea were used because
of their regenerative abilities and their small genome size in comparison to other planarian members.
They also exist as two biotypes which allows for comparison between asexual and sexual
reproduction.
As mentioned already planarians regenerate by epimorphosis and following amputation, planarians
undergo depolarization. During regeneration, polarity of the body axis is controlled by the species.
The polarity is categorized into three orientations namely; anterior posterior (A/P), dorsal ventral
(D/V) and medial lateral (M/L).
Over the years, research has been carried out on the interaction between polarity and regeneration.
Following amputation, germs present in the planarian can be transported both anteriorly and
posteriorly to allow the regrowth of the head and tail. Other research carried out by Brøndsted
concluded that A/P polarity was brought about by unknown effectors through a time graded
regeneration field. In this field, points were revealed in the blastemal where regeneration took place
faster in the head region than in other areas leading to the release of factors that prevented head
formation in posterior regions. Morgan s discovery is the most prominent with regard to

The Personification Of Death In The Seventh Seal And Everyman
Everyman is a morality play from the 15th century with no known author, and The Seventh Seal is a
1950 s fantasy film about a knight returning from the Crusades. Although the timelines for these two
pieces don t match up, they share a lot of similarities: the most prominent of which being the
personification of death into a character. Both pieces feature death as an ever present entity and
solidify the inevitability of death. However, through the characterizations of death within these two
pieces, the two offer differing views on the role of religion in human mortality, and the creators offer
interesting views of human relationships with death himself. One of the initial confrontations with
death in both pieces features the concept of delaying death. In Everyman, the titular character is
confronted by death as God s messenger and he initially attempts to bribe death. However, death states
Everyman, it may not be by no way. / I set not by gold, silver, nor riches, / Nor by pope, emperor,
king, duke, nor princes (124 6). By stating this, the author further highlights the inevitability of death.
Following this statement, Everyman is given the opportunity to find those who would walk with him
to face death, thus delaying his demise. Similarly, Antonius Block, of The Seventh Seal, attempts to
play chess with death in order to, at least initially, delay his perishing. Both characters become focused
on beating death in some way, but the results further substantiate death s

April 1, 2015 OVERVIEW OF DIGOXIN
Origin
Digoxin is a drug gotten from the leaves of a digitalis plant ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 1). We commonly
refer to this plant as foxglove but we also use its botanical name, which is Digitalis purpurea when
discussing it ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). Foxglove is a popular flower that can be found growing along
the roadsides and in meadows or waterlogged areas usually in the western region of the United States (
Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). Although this plant can now be found in America, European immigrants
originally brought Foxglove into the United States centuries ago ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). William
Withering first described the therapeutic effect of this plant in 1785 ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 4).
Drug Class
Digoxin is grouped under a class of drugs known as cardiac glycosides (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014,
p. 387). Cardiac Glycosides are a class of drugs known as cardiac drugs (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014,
p. 387). They are the oldest group of cardiac drugs that are recognized to have beneficial effects on
people with failing heart and help in controlling the heart s ventricular rate (Lilley, Collins, Snyder,
2014, p. 387). These drugs help make the heart beat stronger and with a more regular rhythm. In
previous years, cardiac glycosides (digoxin) were used as the first line drugs for heart

Hemophilia Essay
Hemophilia A is a disorder in which the blood doesn t clot normally due to the lack of blood clothing
factor VIII. Hemophilia A is also known as the Classic Hemophilia. According to the CDC,
hemophilia will occur in approximately 1 in 5,000 live births. It is called classic hemophilia due to the
fact that this hemophilia is four times more common as hemophilia B. This disorder is mainly a
hereditary bleeding disorder which is caused by an inherited X linked recessive trait. Some acquired
forms do exist as well, largely in older patients, due to autoantibodies directed against factor VIII. The
defected gene is located on the X chromosome. And it results from a heterogeneous mutation in factor
VIII gene that maps for Xq28.
Hemophilia A is more common in males because males have one X and one Y chromosome. Since a
male s DNA contain only one X chromosome, hemophilia affects mostly males. Hemophilia was first

Prothrombin time also measure the clotting ability but for factor X, VII, V, II, and I. This would be

Nt1310 Unit 4 Lab Report
Analysis For the first part of the lab, our goal was to calculate the time constant, , of an RC circuit.
We made an RC series circuit and connected it to the Rigol wave generator to produce a square
waveform for current. Then, we collected data of the voltage across the capacitor at different points in
time using a myDAQ and the 4BL application. In order to find the time constant, we linearized the
voltage we measured across the capacitor and then performed a linear regression on the data. The
equation for the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time is: V_c (t)=V_b (1 e^(( t)/RC) )
where V_c (t) is the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time and V_b is the input voltage. We

Looking at the values for resonance frequency we got from both methods, at first glance it appears
that the second method is more accurate. However, in order to better compare the two methods, we
can calculate the percent error from the theoretical value for the resonant frequency. The formula for
percent error is: percent error=| (experimental value accepted value)/(accepted value) | × 100 We get
that the percent error for method 1 is 19.3% and the percent error for method 2 is 1.2%. This affirms
that the method 2 is the more accurate method to measure the resonant frequency. This may be due to
the fact that method 1 involves using estimations by eye, which allows for human error and inaccurate
estimations. The difference between the experimental and theoretical values for the resonant
frequency could also result from faulty equipment, which may not function as the manufacturer claims
or be worn down by natural decay. Lastly using the theoretical value for the RLC circuit and Equation
2, we calculate a Q factor of Q=0.19. This low Q factor indicates that the peak of the curve is not very
sharp and there could have been overdamping, which potentially increases the error in reading the
resonant frequency, especially for the reading by

The Troubles.
Since the 17th century, Ireland was the scene of a complex and bloody struggle, which has created

ancient Romans and profoundly impact their daily living. Ancient Roman aqueducts were constructed
to carry water from far away springs and mountains into the cities. From 311 B.C. to 226 A.D., the
Romans had built eleven significant aqueducts around Roman Empire. The water would supply the
city s fountains, gardens, public baths, bathroom, and a house of wealthy Roman. The water from the
aqueducts also was used to irrigate lands, to power mills and other machines used in mining. The first

METHODS AND APPROACH
A. Research Objective #1: Determine the Rate and Amount of Copper Release from Treated Wood by
Fungal Exposure to Four Copper Tolerant Brown Rot Fungi
Introduction. In this objective, rate and amount of copper release will be measured while fungus is

(Postia placenta, Serpula lacrymans, Gloeophyllum trabeum, Fibroporia radiculosa) have different
copper removal degrees in ACQ and CCA treated wood. I will test my working hypothesis by using
the experimental approach of measurement of copper release. Fungus growth will be conducted on

Conducting The HRDNI
It is important to remember when conducting the HRDNI, that there are three forces that investigators
must be aware of:
1. Organisational politics

In the case of RNC, staff have not been provided with adequate support or training to be able to
develop the necessary skills to perform duties to the required standard. Organisations that understand
the importance of having a committed and capable workforce helps the organisation achieve their

Essay On Outsourced Manufacturing
The video contained information about outsourced manufacturing coming back to theUnited States.
The host of the video interviewed several different companies. Every company he interviewed was an
American company that either purchased a new line of manufacturing or moved one of their plants
from another country to America. The Mississippi State University speaker stated that America had a
net lost 200,000+ a year and is now up that much or a little more a year. The oldest hat manufacture in
the U.S. bought another brand that has been made inChina for years. Their representative said that
their price of production is similar to China s dueto the rise in Chinese wages and shipping costs. He
believes that if Chinese wages continue toincrease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grant Dorris8/27/17I hope the spokesman from Mississippi State is right. America needs more jobs.
Between China and NAFTAAmerican manufacturing has really been distressed. I found the video
very interesting. I didn t know that American manufacturing had gotten so competitive with China. I
think it would be great to gain some manufacturing jobs in America. New Albany used to be in the
biggest furniture making area in the U.S. When NAFTA and China started taking jobs it became a
ghost town. Now that jobs are coming back it would be good to see it thriving again. The labor force
in New Albany are very skilled in furniture building, so a furniture company would be perfect in that
area. I realize that, right or wrong, everything is about a dollar in the end. It has been my experience in
the timber and agriculture industry that American made products are much more durable than Chinese
products. A lot of their products come out of the box with defects. Customer service has basically went
down the drain since the outsourcing of manufacturing as well. The aluminum fan plant mentioned
that they were required to have some extent of customer service. That was a big reason the reshored
that company to the United States. American workers created a better product and were a lot better at
trouble shooting than Chinese workers. I was glad to see the hat company come back to the states as
well. In this geographical region, textiles and fabric were a huge part

Compare And Contrast To A Locomotive In Winter
To begin with, To a Locomotive in Winter , written by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson s I like to
see it lap the Miles are fairly different poems. In To a Locomotive in Winter , the author writes about a
locomotive and represents it in rather a positive way, using strong and vivid figurative language.
While reading the poem, it is apparent that, in general, the speaker while talking about a locomotive
implies American technological progress and, obviously, supports it. That is shown through the
establishment of a link between science and poetry. Even though I like to see it lap the Miles written
by Emily Dickinson is also about a locomotive and within the poem, poetry and science are
connected, still, the author s approach differs from Whitman s manner. Evidently, it is possible to
notice some negative implications. Specifically, the speaker may be afraid of the ongoing
technological progress in America and does not support its connotations. During the 1870s, America
underwent an impressive technological progress and in To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author compares it to a horse and other animals but does not directly name the train and by means
of figurative language and poetic devices creates a distinct image for the reader and enables to
experience the feelings of the narrator. Dickinson s manner slightly differ from the manner of
Whitman even though their themes are corresponding. In particular, while Whitman observes a train
with admiration and respect to its strength and force, it is possible to notice that Dickinson views a
locomotive as a ravenously hungry creature. The train perpetually consumes during the traveling.
Furthermore, it does not require human help to feed itself and that becomes obvious in the third line,
And stop to feed itself at tanks (Dickinson). Probably, Dickinson symbolically implies the
technological progress in America which have already begun gather

Wells Fargo Corporate Bond
The mortgages and corporate bonds have similarity in trading, however the risk/reward are different.
Mortgage bonds is a bond backed by a mortgage or pool of mortgage typically backed by real estate or
physical equipment that can be liquidated. The mortgage Bondholder has the right to sell property to
compensate in the case if the bond defaults. These type of mortgage bond are generally considered
high grade and safe investments. A corporate bond is a debt security issued by a corporation typically
backed by the ability of the company to make payment, which is typically driven by the money earned
from the future operation. Also, there are few cases where the company s physical assets may be used
as collateral for bonds (Investopedia, 2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wells Fargo can sell for example $750 million worth of future mortgage to Goldman Sac in July 2013
which will should originate in October 2013. Wells Fargo has an idea of volume of loan they produce

interest rate from 4.375% to 4.5% in October 2013 which shows 0.375% to 0.5% difference between
the homeowner rate and the bond rate. The majority of the extra interest is paid monthly to the
mortgage bond service and mortgage insurer such as Fannie Mea or Freddie Mac. Now the Mortgage
bond is grouped together, assigned a structure, assigned mortgage service and guaranteed by the
mortgage insurer it becomes a tradable bond. Goldman Sac can sell the bond to Vanguard fund which
can earn 4% on its investment. If the interest rate goes down and people refinance at the lower rate
that will impact the value of bond (The Banker,

The Pros And Cons Of The NFLAs A Monopoly
The NFL is Definitely a Monopoly Although the NFL won t admit to it, the National Football League
is most definitely a monopoly. In order to become a monopoly, you have to take control of the market
are in, in this case, it is football. Monopolies are characterized by high barriers to entry, and almost
zero competition, and great amounts of power. Monopolies are commodity controlled by one party, in
this case, the commodity is football and the party is the NFL.
Available Competition and Suitable Substitutes The National Football League is the highest level of
professional American football in the United States and to most; it is considered the top professional
football league in the world. In order to become a monopoly, you have to take control of the market
you re in. The NFL was created in the early 1900 s. In 1920 the APFL was created when
representatives from many leagues and teams came together. The APFA originally had 11 teams when
they merged with NFL they currently have 32 teams (Tuchner, 2012). The National Football League is
now the most attended domestic sports league in the world. Since completion to the NFL is at a
minimum some substitutes are two similar monopolies, the NBA and MLB. But the NFL still is the
most powerful out of all of them. (The NFL, 2013)
The NFL S Power When it comes to monopolies you need to have a great amount of power. The NFL
uses its power in many ways one way is how they treat the players. In the draft system, a player has to

Lab Report Of Caffeine
Introduction
The process Sublimation is a method used to disconnect a natural product from different undesired
compounds and after that it is purified by the change of state from solid to vapor. The majority
substances, under typical states claiming climate pressure, progress its stage with a temperature rise
from solid to liquid and to gas. Meantime other compounds, like iodine and carbon dioxide
experiences sublimation at this pressure. By bringing down the temperature and pressure of a system,
we can influence change in crude caffeine. Crude caffeine is extracted from tea or coffee, our
experiment was on tea. We got 9.6g of crude caffeine and it contained some purities. It became crude
due to the lower boiling point of pure caffeine than the impurities. Therefore, pure caffeine went
through the direct change of state before the impurities. We separated and collected the caffeine from
impurities by condensing it in a closed area. To produce pure caffeine this process is used by
commercial industries in a large number of scale, but for our laboratory purposes, we performed in a
small filter flask, a rubber hose to connect to the flask and the vacuum. A conical centrifuge which
worked as glass cold finger and it was fitted into the flask with a pluro stopper.

Addiction And Drug Abuse
Many aspects contribute to an individual s ability to resist drug use and most importantly addiction,
significantly fueling the debate whether it is nature or nurture that is the primary consideration in
understanding addiction (Crofton, Zhang, Green, 2015). Addiction is a disease based on the ability of
drugs and their use to alter a person s brain and behavior whereby they compulsively seek drugs
despite any other associated risk (Stanis Andersen, 2014). Drug use is thought to alter the brain s
dopamine surges where receptors for dopamine are reduced (Stanis Andersen, 2014). However,
despite substantial research that supports addiction as a disease, controversy exists in that it is usually
the individual who initially chooses to use drugs. Numerous observers support that is this primary
voluntary choice that makes it difficult for some to see drugs addicts as anything other than criminal.
Otherwise, drug use would probably be legal, and there would be few drug crimes. Focusing on
resilience may be a consideration that could find support over a broader spectrum of beliefs.
Resilience will be discussed.
Genetics and environmental factors play an import role in deterring a person s vulnerability to
addiction (Crofton, Zhang, Green, 2015). Understanding resistance thereby swaying the potential
choice that leads to the chronic disease of addiction would perhaps benefit society the more than new
laws and new prisons. Moreover, understanding environmental enrichment

Sternberg s triangular theory of love
Robert Sternberg s theory of love is best explained in the context of interpersonal relationships. An
interpersonal relationship can be defined as two or more people who have a strong, deep or close
association. The three components Sternberg uses are intimacy, passion and commitment. His theory
uses 6 manifestations which are combinations of the three components. This covers a variety of
different kinds of relationships in human kind.
Sternberg s theory of love has several combinations of love that I think relate to my gender as a
female.
1. The friendship, this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The norm being girl meets boy, they date, and they get married, buy a house and start a family.
Staying married for a lifetime, retiring together and having the extended family with grandchildren
and ultimately enjoying your golden years together. Today in the real world, relationships aren t that
cut and dry. Different genders, cultures, religions, race, and ethnicity all play a role in relationships
that pertain to Sternberg s theory of love, the three components and the 6 manifestations he talks
about. I think women have can have many of these relationships over time. Empty love, many women
stay in a marriage where they don t even like their spouse, usually because there is some kind of abuse
going on. The friendship, women are more intimate with friends and confide in their friends making it
a more intimate relationship. In old age companionate love is common, although there may not be
much intimacy, there is love and commitment, making it a fulfilling relationship. Of course everyone
is different so this is only my opinion. The relationship between mother and child is usually the
strongest relationship a woman can have in my eyes. There is no more commitment, love, compassion,
and fulfillment in life than the bond in this relationship. While we encourage technology and expect
more from it, I think we start to expect less from one another. People become less personal, they meet
in forums, instead of hanging out somewhere to

Monlogue of Sheila Birling Essay
Monologue from Sheila Birling
I feel extremely responsible for the horrid tragedy of what had happened to that young lady. On the
other hand at the time it took place I was in a furious temper; I had tried on this dress, and well.... it
just didn t suit me at all! Then the girl had tried on the dress as if she was wearing it. And it just suited
her. She was the right type for it. She was very pretty too with big dark eyes. I caught sight of the girl
smiling at Miss Francis as if to say, doesn t she look awful and I was absolutely furious. That is when
it all happened. I lost all sense of what was right and let anger and jealousy fill me up to the direst
cruelty. I said without second thought of consideration to the manager, this ... Show more content on

I remember what he said, how he looked and what he made me feel. Fire and blood and anguish. And
it frightens me, the way they talk as if nothing has happened. Even if there is no girl in the infirmary,
who has committed suicide by drinking a strong disinfectant, isn t what we did still wrong?
It doesn t much matter who made us confess and it was true, wasn t it? Farther turned the girl out of
one job, I had her turned out of another. Gerald kept her at a time when he was too busy to see me.
Eric used her for a stupid drunken evening as if she were an animal, a thing, not a person. And mother
hardened her heart and gave her the final push that finished her that s what s important and not
weather a man is a police inspector or not. Well Eric and I have learnt a promising lesson that there are
millions of John Smiths and Eva Smiths in the world. I shall never do something so careless and
selfish again, and I pray that my parents and Gerald come to the same realisation soon, as I have
done... before it s too late.
Whether or not it was me alone, or the fault of all of us. This streak of guilt shall saturate my soul for
life, knowing that my selfish irresponsible actions played a vital part of the beginning of the end of
this venerable, innocent young lady, Eva Smith. Yet I can t help feeling my actions was what caused
her to become so desperate that summer last year. It all is becoming clear now. It was my fault! Last

Proposa Northern Cambria s Evaluating Evaluation Practices
An important aspect of creating any program is to insure it has a way to continue. This means the
program will have to have be evaluated and tweaked in order to change with the growing needs of
those it serves. Evaluation is an integral part of any program development. Evaluation of the program
should be ongoing, in the best effort to target issues within the program as efficiently as possible.
Evaluation should be built into the program, making it effortless for those involved to provide the
necessary information to create useful evaluations. Additionally, any evaluation should be cost

responsibility of the special education teachers in the school to sit down at least once a year and go

involved would be the first step. Then, collecting the relevant data of students in their goals and
objectives as according to the NAGC standards and their GIEP goals. After all the data is collected, it
is the responsibility of the special education department to analyze it and then present the information

to achieve. Boiling it down into a simple report will help them and the necessary school officials

My Teacher Interview And Observation Essay
For my teacher interview and observation, I observed and interviewed Mrs. Jackie Tosh. She is a 3rd
grade teacher and has 24 students in her class. Mrs. Tosh graduated from ESU; she obtained her
Bachelors in 2004 and her Masters in 2010. Mrs. Tosh plans and prepares for her classes three days in
advance, with her team. They come up with objectives and decide how they will accomplish each of
them. The team then sits down again to see where they are at and to discuss if there is anything they
need to cover again. The Pa. Pre K 12 Academic Standards are incorporated into their planning. The
teachers each receive a checklist to make sure all academic standards are covered before PSSA s start.
Age and/ or related characteristics of students are also discussed during their planning periods. Mrs.
Tosh mentioned that she does have learning goals for a student with individual needs. This student has
a gifted IEP. The student requires more challenging work and enrichment services. For example, if
other students receive a multiple choice problem, this student may receive an open ended problem.
This student may also be graded harder, because the student has higher expectations. There are various
resources, materials, technology and activities to engage students in meaningful ways, based on the
instructional goals. There are many posters hanging on the walls, and a lot of technology throughout
the room as well. I observed elements of effective classroom management; I observed from

  • 4. The Endless Cycle Of Recidivism The Endless Cycle of Recidivism Recidivism is such a significant problem here in New Mexico. Many tend to throw it off and label it just a prison problem. But in all reality and factuality it s a whole lot more than that; it s a societal problem that affects our whole community, it affects our state as a whole. Recidivism is the act of reoffending or falling back into criminal behavior after one has been incarcerated and released. Recidivism tends to more common, than uncommon here in New Mexico. Never Changing History The revolving door of recidivism is extremely different than it was only just a few decades ago though. Nowadays there are so much more offenders being arrested and released from prison than there was in the past. Not to mention most of them nowadays have served significantly longer prison terms than those offenders in the past, which in turn contributes to recidivism and the increasing rates over the years. Very few and far in between ever really received the benefit of the vast rehab or even pre release programs in the prisons, so in turn they end up right back where there started. They go in without and education and they come out without an education; they go in with no social skills and come out with no skills, they go in criminal and come out an even better criminal. How does that all work?? Who knows but lock them up. Simple Statistics in New Mexico Most studies that I found reported that up to 2/3 of NM offenders will reoffend within three ... In fact, we should strive to achieve all the dreams we have in our hearts, which is an ideology that I live by. I m only 17 years old, yet I have already found myself interested in many aspects of life. For instance, I taught myself how to play the guitar and juggle. I have continued practicing these talents for the past 5 years. Moreover, I have visited over 30 countries worldwide, which include Spain, Japan, Argentina, plus several states in the USA. Due to my broad international travel experiences, I was able to get knowledge about other cultures and nations, which has not only enhanced my way of thinking but has also enriched the minds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I decided that I wanted to carry out a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research. I chose to hold the fundraiser at a mall due to the high influx of people shopping there. All the items that I gathered for the fundraiser were all donated by my classmates at school. So when three friends of mine and I set up our stand for the fundraiser, we were stopped by mall security. They stated that it s against mall regulations for a fundraiser to take place without the permission of the mall owner. Plus, we were fined $200 by the mall for attempting to commit an action against regulations. The fact that we were fined such a high figure really put my friends and I down. However, I did not stay de motivated for long, as I immediately set up a meeting with the mall owner, and after long hours of filing paperwork for confirmation; my friends and I were allowed to hold the fundraiser. After completing that, I realized that I am a determined person when it comes to a matter which is important to me. In the end, the fundraiser raised an outstanding $3000. • 6. Is There Real Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee, the author, uses theme to reveal a truth about life to Jem and the readers. At the end of the chapter, Atticus and Jem are talking about Mrs. Dubose, their mean, old neighbor who had passed away. A month earlier, Jem destroyed all of Mrs. Dubose s camellia flowers because she had made a rude comment about Atticus to Scout and him. As a punishment, Jem was forced to go over to her house and read a book to her every afternoon for a month. Shortly after his month was over, Mrs. Dubose died. She had left a white camellia for Jem in her will, causing him to freak out over it. Mrs. Dubose was a morphine addict; she knew that she would die very soon because of it. Because she knew what the consequences would be and still fought through her addiction, she was a courageous person in the eyes of Atticus. He explained to Jem his view on the situation, I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It s when you know you re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. (Lee 128). Atticus was trying to tell Jem that courage isn t a man holding a gun, who is able to shoot any danger in his way. Courage is someone knowing that the situation they re going to go through will have bad consequences, but they go up against it anyways. They choose to deal with it head on, no matter what will happen to them in the future. That s what Atticus believed was courage, which is why he thought that Mrs. Dubose fit that attribute. She was well aware of the consequences of being a morphine addict; she knew for a fact that she had a few months left to live because of it. • 7. The Road Not Taken By David Orr Analysis The existence of poetry as an artform predates literacy itself. Over the course of history, poetry grew from a verbal form of art, existing mainly in religious hymns, to becoming the universal language of the heart . The work of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe, some of the most notable poets of history, has resonated with generations of Americans. Although they lived in a Pre industrial world, their work remains powerful because the themes expressed in their artwork can still be applied to modern society. On the contrary, protruding among this group of ancient poets is Robert Frost, whose modern work remains just as powerful, shaping generations through his questions of existence, and depiction of loneliness in an indifferent universe. One of Frost s most celebrated poems: The Road Not Taken, is influential not only in the literary world, but also within American culture. The poems subsequent ripple through American life is analyzed by David Orr In his essay The Most Misread Poem in America. Here, Orr argues that the misread of The Road Not Taken magnifies the underlying issues in society s understanding of both Frost and poetry as a whole. In any educational field, there is an inherent gap in knowledge between those trained, and the common citizen. Orr uses an analysis of the misread of The Road Not Taken to expose this subsequent ample gap in poetic understanding between poetry educatprs and the rest of American society, when he states: The first audience is ... Should the Elgin Marbles stay in Britain or be returned to Greece? There is a debate between the modern Britain and Greece about the Elgin Marbles. These Marbles are pieces of stone that were removed from the Ancient Greek Parthenon, during the nineteenth century by Thomas Bruce, Seventh Lord Elgin. They are now located in the British Museum. Therefore, the Greece government demands for their Elgin Marbles or the Parthenon Sculptures to be send back to their rightful home, Greece. In the modern days the argument has arisen about weather or not they should return the Elgin Marbles to Greece? In my opinion, I think that it should remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, I think it is best for this art to be distributed or be kept in Britain, so it can educate people about the culture of Greece. This way, we can see the phenomenal of other cultures in a short distance instead of traveling to that region. For example, Cyrus Cylinder or Cyrus Charter is a piece from the old Persian Achaemenid which is in a British museum. Many Iranians people want this piece to return back to Iran; however, I personally am against this movement, because I know if this piece returns to Iran it might not be taken care of in a proper way at this time of a day (this might not be true in the near future). By not having this piece of art in Iran just like the Elgin Marbles not being in Greece, many people have a chance of learning about the historical aspects of these ancient arts by a near experience, by visiting the museum in Britain. Another reason that I think Britain should keep the Marbles is that by moving them to Britain, the Marbles were saved from getting ruined. In my opinion, Lord Elgin had good intentions by sending the Marbles to Britain, because they were already extensively damaged and was entirely neglected, as the Parthenon was in the hands of the Ottomans. Jealousy And Discrimination In Shakespeare s Othello People discriminate for many different reasons: terror, jealousy, the desire for power, or a need to dissociate themselves from other people. They can, thus, use someone s skin color (a hereditary trait that cannot be altered) to express their hatred. In Shakespeare s play Othello, Othello, is a happily wedded man and despite his African heritage, is a well respected general in the Venetian army. At the beginning of the play, Othello has not experienced any type of discrimination, as of yet. • 16. Bourbon Reform In Spanish America And Pombaline Reforms In... The Bourbon Reforms in Spanish America and the Pombaline Reforms in Brazil were both motivated by the European state s interest in increasing defense, centralizing authority, and expanding economic benefits of the their Latin American colonies. The Bourbon Reforms began under Philip V, the first Bourbon King of Spain, and were initially concerned with proper and efficient governing of the Spanish Colonies in America. These early reforming projects primarily focused on issues of administration and jurisdiction. The viceroyalty of Peru was divided. In 1739 the viceroyalty of New Granada was created with its capital in Bogotá. Later in 1776 the viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata was established with its capital in Buenos Aires, which gained control of the silver mines and mint in Potosí. One of the most significant of the Bourbon administrative reforms was the implementation of the French style intendancy system, in which a government official, an intendant, was appointed essentially to supervise an established territory, responsible for overseeing the military and financial affairs of the region. Most all of the officials appointed during the administrative restructuring of the Spanish colonies were Spanish born, this, combined with other Bourbon Reforms, which were meant to limit the authority and autonomy of creoles, resulted in tension between different social classes in the colonies. The official hero embraces common values and traditional beliefs, while the outlaw has a clear sense of right and wrong but operates above the law (Ray). Ray explains how the role of an outlaw hero has many traits. Immediately after Rick has received the film s first star close up, Casablanca yields its first shot from the point of view of a single individual at nine minutes into the film when Rick observes the German s attempt to enter. For most of the remainder of the film, Rick s point of view is privileged, and his face and body are centered. This is especially true when he is in the company of Victor Laszlo, who is regularly consigned to the margins of the frame throughout the sequence when Rick first encounters Ilsa and her husband in the cafe. All of this seems natural because the film has so carefully constructed the viewer as a secret sharer in Rick s vision. The innumerable choices that are made in the production of each shot in Casablanca are concealed by our acceptance of Rick as our surrogate. Although few would find reason to object, the film chooses to deprive Laszlo of a flashback, not to mention an As Time Goes By to unite him with Ilsa. Ray points out that this concealing of the necessity for choice also governs the thematic paradigm in Casablanca. The film invites the audience to identify with Rick rather than Laszlo even though official American wartime sentiments are consistently voiced by Laszlo. Rick regularly insists upon unmediated self interest, I stick my neck out for nobody , I m the only cause I m interested in , a position that Ferrari explicitly identifies with a discredited American tradition: My dear Rick, when will you realize ... Biographies are full of great information that can often times make history fun and exciting. Historical phenomenon is often portrayed through biographies allowing us to see how society has developed over time and how the past and present may be similar. Although biographies are full of information often times it is impossible to prove them to be true because they aren t written by the person themselves. Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh is a great example of an exciting biography that allows us to learn about British Imperial Rule through someone else s eyes. In Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh it becomes clear very quickly just how much British Imperial Rule effected Elizabeth s life. British Imperial Rule was so strict that Elizabeth was forced to marry a man that would offer her the most social advancement not only for herself but for her father as well. She originally was supposed to marry Henry John Phillips because his family was very high up on the social latter, however it didn t end up working out. ALS patients are sent from a general or family doctor to a neurologist who specializes in the nervous system for further evaluation. Neurologists will commonly order the following tests to look for any abnormalities: Blood and Urine tests looking for any indicator of Creatinine kinase which the body produces when muscle breaks down. • 21. Investigating The Amount Of Calcium On The Calcium Oxide... Discussion: The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium 600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of +/ 0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during the process of vacuum filtration were: CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) → CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l) CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) → CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq) The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and 0.573 g respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The results from the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small deviation from the original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder from the mortar and pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what was expected, hence the smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures between the two trials of vacuum filtration. During the second trial, more care and attention was given to make sure that the entire calcium supplement was transferred from the mortar and pestle to the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Because more care was given, the calculated amount of calcium increased by 0.019 g. The other method used in this lab was an acid base titration. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ten main organs in this system are the mouth, oesophagus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and the anus. Throughout the digestive system food that we eat is broken down, nutrients we need are absorbed from this, and the waste materials left at the end are eliminated. The digestive process begins at the mouth. When you eat food, obviously, it enters your mouth first. They also exist as two biotypes which allows for comparison between asexual and sexual reproduction. Although the timelines for these two pieces don t match up, they share a lot of similarities: the most prominent of which being the personification of death into a character. Both pieces feature death as an ever present entity and solidify the inevitability of death. However, through the characterizations of death within these two pieces, the two offer differing views on the role of religion in human mortality, and the creators offer interesting views of human relationships with death himself. One of the initial confrontations with death in both pieces features the concept of delaying death. In Everyman, the titular character is confronted by death as God s messenger and he initially attempts to bribe death. However, death states Everyman, it may not be by no way. / I set not by gold, silver, nor riches, / Nor by pope, emperor, king, duke, nor princes (124 6). By stating this, the author further highlights the inevitability of death. Following this statement, Everyman is given the opportunity to find those who would walk with him to face death, thus delaying his demise. Then, we collected data of the voltage across the capacitor at different points in time using a myDAQ and the 4BL application. In order to find the time constant, we linearized the voltage we measured across the capacitor and then performed a linear regression on the data. The equation for the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time is: V_c (t)=V_b (1 e^(( t)/RC) ) where V_c (t) is the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time and V_b is the input voltage. This affirms that the method 2 is the more accurate method to measure the resonant frequency. Research Objective #1: Determine the Rate and Amount of Copper Release from Treated Wood by Fungal Exposure to Four Copper Tolerant Brown Rot Fungi Introduction. In this objective, rate and amount of copper release will be measured while fungus is growing on copper based treatments. The working hypothesis is that the selected four brown rot fungi (Postia placenta, Serpula lacrymans, Gloeophyllum trabeum, Fibroporia radiculosa) have different copper removal degrees in ACQ and CCA treated wood. I will test my working hypothesis by using the experimental approach of measurement of copper release. Fungus growth will be conducted on ACQ and CCA treatments, and percentage of copper release will be analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP). The rationale underlying this objective is that without the analysis of copper release from treated wood, it is highly unlikely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this, copper will be determined at the beginning of the study in treated samples which will be reserved for ICP analysis. The samples which are exposed to fungus will be analyzed to determine the percentage copper release after extraction. These exposed samples will be microwave digested depending on the AWPA standard A7 method (AWPA 2012b). For extraction, the samples (around 1g) will be weighed into a microwave digestion tube and nitric acid will be added on to that. Digestion tubes will be sealed into digestion vessels and placed into a microwave oven for a pre programmed digestion sequence. After the digestion was complete, each vessel will be quantitatively brought up to 100 ml volume with DI water. The digested samples will be analyzed using a Perkin Elmer Optima 2100 DV Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometer (ICP) OES to determine percentage Cu release after bioremediation. Lab Report Of Caffeine Introduction The process Sublimation is a method used to disconnect a natural product from different undesired compounds and after that it is purified by the change of state from solid to vapor. The majority substances, under typical states claiming climate pressure, progress its stage with a temperature rise from solid to liquid and to gas. Meantime other compounds, like iodine and carbon dioxide experiences sublimation at this pressure. By bringing down the temperature and pressure of a system, we can influence change in crude caffeine. Crude caffeine is extracted from tea or coffee, our experiment was on tea. We got 9.6g of crude caffeine and it contained some purities. It became crude due to the lower boiling point of pure caffeine than the impurities. Therefore, pure caffeine went through the direct change of state before the impurities. We separated and collected the caffeine from impurities by condensing it in a closed area. • 48. Addiction And Drug Abuse Many aspects contribute to an individual s ability to resist drug use and most importantly addiction, significantly fueling the debate whether it is nature or nurture that is the primary consideration in understanding addiction (Crofton, Zhang, Green, 2015). Addiction is a disease based on the ability of drugs and their use to alter a person s brain and behavior whereby they compulsively seek drugs despite any other associated risk (Stanis Andersen, 2014). Drug use is thought to alter the brain s dopamine surges where receptors for dopamine are reduced (Stanis Andersen, 2014). However, despite substantial research that supports addiction as a disease, controversy exists in that it is usually the individual who initially chooses to use drugs. Numerous observers support that is this primary voluntary choice that makes it difficult for some to see drugs addicts as anything other than criminal. Otherwise, drug use would probably be legal, and there would be few drug crimes. Focusing on resilience may be a consideration that could find support over a broader spectrum of beliefs. Resilience will be discussed. Genetics and environmental factors play an import role in deterring a person s vulnerability to addiction (Crofton, Zhang, Green, 2015). Understanding resistance thereby swaying the potential choice that leads to the chronic disease of addiction would perhaps benefit society the more than new laws and new prisons. Moreover, understanding environmental enrichment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
