Comparing Heart Of Darkness And The Secret Sharer
Heart of Darkness Literary Analysis
In comparing Heart of Darkness with The Secret Sharer, one would most likely notice the many
similarities between the two main characters. The captain in The Secret Sharer and Charlie
Marlow both mention their dark sides . They fight against this alter ego and try to be more
philanthropic and gregarious. Marlow feels pity for Kurtz when he finds him dying, much like the
captain feels when he gives Leggatt the white hat. They also compare themselves to people they do
not tend to resemble.
Leggatt and Kurtz are also extremely analogous. Most would concur that Kurtz is not a good
person. He treats the natives terribly and becomes worse than the people he demeans. Leggatt is a
murderer and seems like the anti protagonist throughout the entire story. They get away with their
terrible sins in the end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not much disparate from the ending of Heart of Darkness in which Marlow lies to Kurtz s
fiancГ©. Considering that the two books were only published eleven years apart, it is not
unpredictable. Still eleven years can harbor a plethora of changes in a society. The endings show
that society let people assume information about others. Instead of letting Kurtz s fiancГ© know
what was actually happening in Africa, he preserved her idea of the amazing man that Kurtz was.
This is an example of racism in that time period. The captain lets a murderer escape his ship
because he felt sorry for him, because he did not think Leggatt deserved to be caught. Justice did
not catch up to either of these characters. This could show that in that time period people did not
really care what others

What Does Grilling Mean To You Essay
I have actually been trying for a while. I was taking some meds that made me gain like 5lb a
month which was incredibly frustrating. But I m off of those and finally back to loosing weight. I
have actually finally cut out the two things things that I believe have been holding me back the
most and that s; fast food, and alcohol. I tried to tell myself that eatingchicken sandwiches from
Wendy s or chicken soft tacos from taco bell was healthy. Obviously it isn t. I have actually
started grilling all of my food (mainly chicken and some pork tenderloin) and not only do I feel
better, but I enjoy grilling and it tastes much better. The alcohol thing is probably temporary but the
amount of alcohol to get me feeling good is enough

NaГЇve B Lymphocytes
NaГЇve B lymphocytes express two classes of membrane bound antibodies, IgM and IgD that
function as the receptor for antigens. These naГЇve B cells are activated by antigens. The activation
of B lymphocytes results in the proliferation of antigen specific cells, also called clonal expansion
and their differentiation into effector cells that actively secrete antibodies. During their
differentiation, some B cells may begin to produce antibodies of different heavy chain classes (or
isotypes). This process is called heavy chain class (isotype) switching. Repeated exposure to a
proteinantigen results in the production of antibodies with increasing affinity for the antigen. This
process is called affinity maturation and it lead to the production

Persecuted Church
Horrifying evil shocks us into paralysis. That is the point of terrorism: not just to kill, but to
demoralize any opposition into hopelessness and inaction. As urgent as it is to document Christian
persecution in our time to shine a light on it, it s important too to understand that evil doesn t stand
unopposed. There are signs of hope: the heroic virtue of many Christians in the face of genocidal
attack; the help they have received from noble allies; and some signs that the tide may have turned
and things can get better.
Earlier this spring I heard Steve Wagner, the head of Solidarity with the Persecuted Church, give an

The Ongoing Tyranny Of Statistical Significance Testing
Article by Stang, Poole and Kuss (2010) titled The ongoing tyranny of statistical significance testing
in biomedical research describe common misuses and interpretation of statistical significance
testing (SST). The authors point out fallacy understanding in interpretive the p value and how it
often mixed in measuring effect size and its precision. This misconception then they assert may
impede scientific progress and furthermore become unintended harmful treatment. They also
proposed an important way out of the significance fallacies in this article. Therefore, in this article
review, all the finding that made by the authors will be summarized and review of it will be drawn
based on other references.
1.Statistical Significance Test (SST) and P value
Stang, Poole and Kuss explain, in SST, P value is an important part to decide the null hypothesis.
The SST itself, they explain is analytical approach that developed based on two prominent
statisticians, Fisher and the Neyman Pearson. However, in present practical, SST is incompatible
amalgamation of those two theories. In Fisher theory, P value represents the strength of evidence
against the null hypothesis: the lower the P value, the stronger the evidence. In this theory, they
criticize lake of alternative hypothesis and concept of statistical power. In contrast Neyman and
Person theory included the alternative for the null hypothesis, type I and II error and theoretical of
effect size. This hybrid method leads to

Analysis Of Ask Me If I Care And Safari Essay
Women have a few common tropes in literature. Seen as submissive to men, and sexualized
because of it, women are presented as less than. While this has been strayed from a little bit in
modern literature with the engagement of queer writers, it is still very much the normal view of
women, due to a society in which the view on women is that of being less than. The short stories
Ask Me if I Care and Safari by Jennifer Egan both perpetuate this idea of women as submissive.
Egan presents female characters who only exist in the context of men, thus leaving them to be seen
as inferior to the men. These tropes of women in literature, and Egan s use of them, fit into the
larger conversation: there is a degradation of women in literature due to common conceptions of
women in society.
Egan presents multiple female characters in Ask Me if I Care . The short story touches on a group
of friends, and in this group are the two characters of Rhea and Jocelyn both female. While they
may seem to be presented differently, Rhea as a not interested in being sexualized character and
Jocelyn as a sexualizes herself character, both ultimately play into the trope of submissive and
degraded women. Rhea, from the beginning, is portrayed as needing men: Still, if it s Bennie and
me I hope for the back, so that I can push against his shoulder in the cold, and hold him for a
second when we hit a bump (Egan, Ask Me ). While this may seem innocuous, it is the first
introduction to Rhea. The very

Governmental Effects On Trade Policies
As a business owner the responsibilities are enormous and there is a ton of planning. Having a
business I will be taking into consideration an extreme chance of globalization and trade in
context. Now there will be tariffs, business and government now getting involved in my
company one way or another. All of this brings to thought why the United States saves part of
the economic policies and procedures. In this assignment I will be talking about the
governmental effects on trade policies and how they are used in different businesses. Also
included will be how doing business in other countries might influence company owners. Does
NAFTA have any effect on automobile industries and the trade agreement? Some educational
information I found was that the US is 238 years old and in the past 193 or so years the United
States has had a foreign trade and global economic policy in place. Several things have been
altered over and over again since the original policy had been written. The US focused more on
how the government and businesses could improve on the domestic economy no matter what was
happening in other countries. The Great Depression and World War II along with the country s
population wanted to create less trade obstacles and manage the world s financial structure. Free
tradein the US has shown that it is progressing in the monetary welfare and creating diplomatic
interactions between other states. So, now that free trade has resulted in global trade there is

Genetic Code Research Paper
The genetic code can be defined as a series of rules that determine how genetic material is
translated into proteins. Specifically, it refers to the correspon dence between a particular amino
acid and a group of codons [8]. The first amino acid codon association to be uncovered was
phenylalanine and the codon con sisting of three uracil ribonucleotides [9]. A monu mental
achievement of modern science, the unravel ing of this code has allowed researchers to synthesize
proteins using transcriptional machinery. Human in sulin, for example, is synthesized for
pharmaceutical use by applying this knowledge [13]. Questions on the origins of this newly
deciphered code, however, remained unanswered. The origin of the genetic code pertains to the...

The ge netic code, then, reached its modern form through a feedback loop involving both genetic
material and metabolism [4]. The coevolution theory thus pro poses that the genetic code initially
only coded for a few amino acids which served as precursors. These precursors allowed for the
concurrent evolution of both the genetic code and biosynthetic pathways [14]. The coevolution
theory takes into account the amount of natural selection required in order to bring forth the
singular universal genetic code. The amount of precursor amino acids, as well as the subdivision
process of codon domains, allows for coevolution be tween primitive amino acids and the early

Data Warehousing And Cloud Computing
INTRODUCTION This paper clearly illustrates the concepts of Data warehousing and Cloud
computing. It also discusses the benefits and disadvantages of implementing Data Warehouse in
a Cloud. Both cloud computing and data warehousing are the latest trends in modern computing.
DWH is an integrated software component of the cloud and it provides timely support and
accurate response to complex queries with Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and data
mining tools. Cloud computing provides reasonable speed of services in a less period of time
when it is compared to in house data warehouse deployment. Reduced cost, a pay per use
payment model and backups are also made available by cloud computing. Besides these there are
several challenges when deploying data warehouses in the cloud. These challenges may include
security, computational and network problems. These problems are mainly caused often due to
incompatible nature of functional requirements to deploy DWH in the cloud environment. Cloud
providers offer a low end node for computations and a local data warehousing systems is good in
terms of CPU, memory and disk bandwidth. Growing need of cloud computing will allow its
evolution more in future to accommodate critical DWH. The evolving nature of cloud computing
and DWH will help the small and medium sized businesses. EXPLANATION OF PAPER A
common feature of data warehouse on which most of the scholars agree upon is that a data
warehouse acts as storage of historical data. This

Flaws In The American Education System

Japan, and Singapore have surpassed the United States buy large margins, in terms of educational
success. While other countries are constantly revolutionising their education system, the United
States educationsystem has not changed in decades, leaving the U.S. unsuccessful. The U.S.
continues to fall behind these same countries that are thriving. Due to the fact that the U.S.

According To Source A, the distance between the two societies is a lengthening, instead of being
abridged. Mann also acknowledges with every generation, the educated or developing more
fortunes and the non educated are becoming more poverty ridden. Countless may disagree with
this claim by stating Mann s section is from the 1800s and does not apply to the current times.
However this holds not true because Poverty stricken areas like Chicago did not become great
cities over years, instead Chicago still holds its place as one of the most dangerous, violent cities in
America.
A solution to decreasing the educational gap between the educated and non educated can be
solved by providing free education to those in need. Providing free education can eventually get

Periodontitis Essay
Periodontitis is defined as an inflammatory disease of the supporting tissues of the teeth caused by
specific microorganisms or groups of specific microorganisms, resulting in progressive destruction
of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone with pocket formation, recession or both. 1
Periodontal diseaseisan ubiquitous infection in humans displaying the classic hallmarks of the
inflammatory response. Late sequelaeof periodontal diseases are the loss of alveolar bone,,mobile
teeth leading to a demolished periodontium. Therefore, earlier detection and treatment leads to
improved outcomes for patients.2
The main transgressors in Periodontal diseases are gram negative bacteria that elicit a host
response, which cause an aftermath of osseous and soft tissue destruction. The host response plays
the role of a second fiddle through mediators like proteinases, cytokines and prostaglandins causing
severe tissue loss.2 Cytokines are the linchpins in mediating numerous biological activities
including proliferation, development, differentiation, homeostasis, regeneration, repair and
inflammation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The 18th Amendment And The Era Of Social Reform
The 18th Amendment was passed in 1918 to prohibit the manufacture, transport and sale of
alcoholic beverages. While it had noble intentions,it produced another entire set of problems for the
country. The amendment itself was repealed in 1933 in an effort to restore order. Why was this
ammendement ever introduced, by whom and what events led to national attention because of it?
With the era of social reform grew the increase in alcohol consumption. It was believed by certain
groups/ people that there was a distinct link between this and the breakdown in family dynamics (

The Process Of Aging And Metabolism
The process of aging is one many dread and try to avoid. Arguably even worse than aging are age
related diseases that see their onset as people get older. Aging and metabolism have been found
to be closely connected. As individuals age, they usually gain weight because metabolism slows
and their body composition changes. According to a paper published in Nature, after age 45 the
average person loses about 10% of their muscle mass each decade and that mass is generally just
turned into fat because their muscles cannot metabolize and use the added calories being
consumed. As a result, consuming fewer calories has been proven to consistently extend lifespans
and delay age related diseases in evolutionary diverse organisms, meaning specialized multi
cellular organisms such as humans and animals. Several metabolites, molecules generated and
used in intermediate steps of metabolic reactions, have been shown to slow the aging process and
are of great interest to researchers because the mechanisms of how they do this is unknown. This
project is a deeper dive into a specific molecule that was of particular interest to the research team
during a screening of many endogenous molecules including metabolites and disease associated
metabolites. In this study, О± ketoglutarate (О± KG) is explored in order to determine if and how
it effects the lifespan of adult Caenorhabditis elegans, also known as roundworms. О± KG is an

The Heart Of A Heart Disappointment
Introduction:
Services Directors for taking care of hearts. Those services will help to have a better quality but
with higher cost.
Ceaseless heart disappointment (CHF) is a perplexing, crippling disorder because of cardiovascular
brokenness that weakens the capacity of the ventricle to load with, or launch, blood. Subsequently,
common side effects, for example, dyspnoea and weariness happen very still or with lessened
physical exertion. CHF regularly comes about because of harm to the myocardium for which the
etiology contrasts as indicated by the populace contemplated. In high salary countries CHF is
regularly the finished result of underlying coronary illness (Cowie 1997). In low to medium salary
countries the disorder is regularly the consequence of longstanding hypertension, cardiomyopathy
or rheumatic coronary illness (Sliwa 2005). This pattern is changing, with the rate and
predominance of atherosclerotic ailment expanding in low to medium wage countries (Yusuf 2001).
CHF pushes a significant trouble on health awareness frameworks, because of the high utilization of
human assets brought on transcendently by rehashed and long admissions to healing facility

Don t be confused about the differences between bridges, dentures and implants.
Bridges. A bridge is permanently cemented to natural teeth. The natural teeth that anchor the bridge
need to be stable and healthy in order to hold the bridge.
Dentures. Dentures are false teeth and can be removed. They are removable appliances that
replace teeth and gum tissue. They serve a purpose for people who have extensive dental
problems and for people with unhealthy gums or weak jaw bones, but they are not for everyone.
Dentures must be secured by an adhesive and they tend to slip while chewing or talking. A
complete set of dentures rest on the gums.
If you have lost all of your teeth but aren t crazy about the idea of using adhesives and the worry
that comes with slipping dentures, strategically placed implants can support a complete denture.
These implant posts will help your jawbone to stay healthy and strong.
Partial dentures. Partial dentures replace the look of one or more teeth and are anchored to natural
teeth by a clamp or wire. They can be removed for cleaning.
Dental implants are replacement teeth. They are surgically implanted into the jawbone. The post of
the implant bonds with the jawbone and creates an anchor for the tooth. Single or multiple missing

Identifying Differences Among Businesses In order to identify, analyse and evaluate the major
differences along the supply chain between the business to business (B2B) and the business to
consumer (B2C) marketing in the manufacture and retailing of fast moving consumer goods, it is
important to define the different terms. According to Wright, the supply chain can be defined as the
entire network of suppliers, factories, warehouses, distribution centres and retailers that participate

The research market In B2B, Wright states that the pressure to get industrial products with the right
benefits to market ahead of the competition is the main concern (Wright 2004). Secondary
researches such as the market, the trends are more used than primary researches as organisations
activity is based on economic and industrial trend. In B2B, there is a focus on making the products
matching the consumer demand. Secondary researches are needed but primary researches about
consumers psychology are more important as their wants and needs are changing over the years.
(Minett 2002) 2.5. The segmentation In B2B, customers are segmented by industry and individual
company needs as they are not numerous. There are two types of segmentation, the macro
segmentation and the micro segmentation. Both must provide the supplier with added value to
offer. The macro segmentation uses different factors: it distinguishes one sector from another, one
industry from another and one type of organisation from another (Wright 2004). Segmentation is
by: В· type of market: industrial and/or consumer markets В· geographical area В· type of
industries: manufacturing, service or agricultural industries В· public, private or not for profit

The Ethical Principles Of Health Care Professionals
Many times health professional encounter in daily practice situations that raise moral issues. Four
essential values constitute the most significant parts of the ethical code for healthcare
professionals; justice, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and autonomy. (DeGrazia, Mappes, Brand
Ballard, 2010, p. 88). These two talks both emphasize the importance of the role of a health care
professional, especially during the healing process for any patient. According to Elizabeth Loftus,
ethically scientists/researchers can t morally place false memories in their own patients, even if
planting the false memories improves their quality of life.
A principle can be defined as the universal law, or a basic truth. Like rule, principles are action
guides and assists an individual in making a moral decision. In both videos there were many ethical
principles that were evident. Health care professionals during the healing process need to practice
these ethical principles to improve the patient s overall well being beneficence, nonmaleficience,
and autonomy.
Elizabeth Loftus is a psychologist, in which she studies false memories. A false memory is when a
person either recalls situations that didn t occur or recollects the situation differently from what
actually happened. Ethical limitations do arise for the study participants. Are they able to make an
informed consent? The experimental researcher cannot lie nor withhold information from the
subject participants, which can completely weaken

Empirical Research For Treatment Of Intercultural Marriage
Empirical Research for treatment of Intercultural Marriage
According to Hsu (2001), intercultural marriage is marriage formed by partners with relatively
diverse cultural backgrounds (p.225). This is prominently seen through the film, in which Toula, a
Grecian American marries Ian Miller, a Caucasian American. This film depicts the conflict that
surrounds this union prior to marriage, such as planning the wedding, navigating the cultural
differences and gaining parental approval for the union. Although it is understandable that
intercultural marriage comes with far more difficulties than depicted.
Hsu (2001) discusses that intercultural marriage, as opposed to intramarriage, where partners are
from the same cultural background, often go to couple therapy because the merger of the two
individual s cultural beliefs and values is causing conflict. However, because an individual s culture
is embedded into their identity it is difficult to address cultural differences in a relationship.
Consequently, a majority of the research available on treating intercultural marriage relates to the
post modern belief of social constructionism and narrative therapy.
According to Biever, Bobele and North (1998), understandings that are created about client s
situations and the culture arise out of a mutual, collaborate construction of meaning (p. 184). Social
constructionism provides a collaboration between the therapist and the client that allows the client
to assess different

Traditional American Family Essay
When the idea of a family life first began, the man was supposed to be the sole breadwinner
while the wife stayed home to cook or clean or take care of the children. A traditional American
family used to be a mom and a dad, with a few kids. However, that white picket fence lifestyle
has become almost abnormal now. Ever since the choices of divorce, homosexuality, even role
reversal have been offered to families things have never been quite the same. In the early days,
divorce was an extremely shameful thing. The concept of for better or worse truly held it s
meaning. A man and a woman would almost never split up, no matter how bad things got. Today,
divorce papers can be mailed and signed with virtually no hassle, making the ending of a marriage...

Eyewitness Misidentification In The Criminal Justice System

Since the development of DNA evidence, More than 300 people have been exonerated in the United
states alone, since 1989 as a result of eyewitness misidentification (Hsu, cited in Wixted et al, 2015).
Consequently, The Innocence Project was founded in 1992 to assist those individuals who have
been wrongfully convicted. The organization claims that over 70% of overturned cases are the
result of eyewitness misidentification (Innocenceproject.org, n.d.). Whilst this is American data, it
illuminates the tragedy that can emanate from such an unreliable element of the justice system.

It is reported that approximately 11 million people of the current work force that are under saving
and could have insufficient funds for retirement. To counteract this trend the UK government has
been actively introducing incentives to nudge individuals towards savings such as Auto
enrolment, Pensions Freedom and Lifetime ISA s. Recent changes to pension legislation, which
are said to stem from years of debate and studies that are striving for promotion of involvement of
individuals when handling their pension funds by incentivising savings. What is Financial
Myopia and Hyperbolic Discounting? Financial Myopia (short sightedness) is a behaviour
observed in individuals where they prioritize short term benefits over long term benefits. Laibson
suggests that individuals are susceptible to mental accounting and, attaching different
psychological values to various types of income and assets and also develop differing attitudes in
doing so. The existence of such nature among individuals could be due to a number of factors, for
example individuals have an approximate age at which they wish to retire and do not want to
carry with them any debts into retirement or work longer than they have to. Myopia has been
subject to study and has been at the centre of different models developed to describe savings and
retirement. A form of myopia is hyperbolic discounting. Hyperbolic discounting refers to the

Risk Of Skin Cancer In Tanning Beds
Sharon Miller is the author of this article and is part of FDA. In this article she discusses how
each type of uv rays damage the skin and which uv ray is used in tanning beds. This is relevant
to my topic because it demonstrates the risk of skin cancer. Many people think tanning gives
them a ВЁhealthyВЁ glow, but in reality a tan is a sign on skin damage. UV B rays burn the top
layer of skin resulting in a sunburn in most cases. UV A rays burn into a deeper layer of the skin
causing a rash to appear. Tanning beds emit UV B rays and UV A rays, which is why you tend to
get a sunburn before turning dark. The UV B rays cause your body to emit more melanin, which is
a pigment that darkens the skin. This is why we get tan in the summer whether it

The contribution of George Martin (producer of Sgt Pepper) also played a major part in the
success of Sgt Pepper, his knowledge of classical music training is also apparent throughout the
album.
This unique way of recording created a culturally significant album. They used innovative ideas in
the studio some of which were being used for the first time in history on such a commercial level
thus creating a genre very much their own. Using all the techniques in song writing and technology
they have made a lasting impact on popular music. Their ideas have helped redefine pop music as a
culturally significant art form. Sgt. Pepper has influenced so many other artists to explore
different styles and techniques in song writing and recording, it has opened new doors in to
worldwide culture; bringing together a collective of worldwide music into a single album which
has lead the way in defining popular music in our society.
Jonathan Gould describes it as a rich, sustained, and overflowing work of collaborative genius

The Accomplishments Of Henry David Thoreau
Background
Henry David Thoreau was born on July 12th, in Concord Massachusetts. Thoreau was many
things, not simply just a writer; but he was one of the most influential writers America knows
today. Early on in his life he grew up in a simple home with hard working parents, and an
abundance of siblings. His father and mother both had worked as teachers as well as investing in
many other trades to get by. Henry started developing his talent for writing early on, by age ten he
had written his first piece of writing, The Seasons, as well as many other academic achievements
for somebody his age. He was articulate and mature beyond his years, these things developed into
key traits that brought him to, instead of listening in on lectures at the Concord Lyceum being the
one leading the lectures in the later years of his life. He came back to Concord after graduating
from Harvard University, starting to work at a public school he d attended as a child. He was a
man with morals; known to look at things in a more progressive way than many in his life. After
being asked to conduct corporal punishment on a student he left the school he was teaching at to
expand his studies and find further employment. His talents broadened further than essays and
poetry, he gave himself away to a life of helping others, sheltering runaway slaves on their journey
to freedom. He was a man of nature, not as much an adventurer, but he took two years to emerge

ABSTRACT
Nowadays, renewable energy resources play an important role in replacing conventional fossil fuel
energy resources. Photovoltaic energy is one of the very promising renewable energy resources
which grew rapidly in the past few years. Photovoltaics has one major problem and which is that
with the variation of the operating conditions of the array, the voltage at which maximum power
can be obtained from it also changes. In the thesis, a PV model is used to simulate actual PV arrays
behavior, and then a Maximum Power Point tracking method and wind energy system using Feed
Forward Neural networks is proposed in order to control the power. Further more, the proposed feed
forward neural network technique using hybrid system is compared with the ANFIS(adaptive neuro
fuzzy interference system). Simulation results shows that the proposed feed forward neural
network maximum power point tracking method gives faster response than the ANFIS

My Experience With Severe Anxiety
When I reflect on everything that has happened thus far in my lifetime, I am amazed at how far
I have come. I was born on May 31st, 1998. My mom was in college when she had me, and my
father worked two jobs to support the family. They worked incredibly hard to make sure that I
had a good and comfortable life. They never gave up, even when they were loaded with their
many responsibilities, because they cared so much for me and my future. I truly admire them for
that. They instilled the value of preserving, and never giving up, no matter how tough your
challenges in life are. This value is very important to me, and I believe that I would not be where
I am today if I didn t stay true to this value. This value has been especially important when I have
had to deal with severe anxiety.
I have dealt with anxiety my entire life. The anxiety became especially intense during my freshman
year of high school. It began to severely interfere with my schooling, to the point where I could not
even attend school. I many attempts to continue to attend school, but these attempts would often
end with me having a severe panic attack. This constant failure to attend school sent me into a
bout of depression. All of these factors led to the decision for me to be put into home hospital,
where I would do all my schoolwork at home, and work with a teacher who came to my house for
an hour each day. This would allow me to focus on receiving professional help with my anxiety. I

Emotional Causes In The Necklace By Edgar Allen Poe
You re walking around your house one day and you realize how shabby it is, you also realize the
color is beginning to diminish because it s very old, so you start noticing all the things you can
t afford and don t have, like fancy dresses. Noticing all of these things eventually produces an
anger and sadness inside of you that will drive you to make bad decisions and eventually cause
you to get involved in a conflict that will seem unescapable, then to only find out that this
conflict was meaningless, this is precisely what happens to Madame Loisel in the story The
Necklace by Edgar Allen Poe. When Madame Loisel does this she begins to show very negative
signs like consistent complaining and ungratefulness for anything that she deems poor . Without a
doubt though, these horrid traits eventually diminished when her consistent complaining and
begging got her a false necklace she would eventually lose and have to pay in debt, which made
her work for the things she wanted. Our beloved Madame Loisel also had her moments of extreme
euphoria that even made me feel joyous too, this extreme euphoria occurs when she finally got the
ability to get her hands on a fancy dressand a very deceiving jewel necklace. In Conclusion, this
story is mainly about Madame Loisel a woman with an attitude of a spoiled brat that learns a lesson
the hard way. Throughout the story we obviously can t help but to notice that Madame Loisel is an
incredibly ungrateful person. We realize Madame Loisel s

The government did give the miners one thing, the Coal Mines Act of 1919, a six hour day
which meant miners only mined for six hours a day, but the reality was different as this did not
include the time taken to travel from the surface to the mine face and the way back up, this would
have varied from mine to mine but the average time added to a miner s day would have been more
than an hour.
In 1921 the government said that they would now give back the mines to private mine owners.
Once the mine owners had control of the mines they said that the only way they could continue
to operate would be if they reduced pay, then they also said that fixed reduced pay would come
into affect across the whole of mines in Great Britain. In South Wales pay cuts were up to 50% of
the miner s pay. All of these issues went against what the MFGB fought for in their national wage

Essay on Cole Porter
Musical theater has been filled with countless talented composers. The amount of talent in the
theater world is endless, but only few composers gain iconic status. The Gershwins, Rogers
Hammerstein, and Stephen Sondheim come to mind when thinking of the pinnacle of composing.
One other man who deserves his permanent place with these others would be Cole Porter. Porter s
extensive library of songs has become classics along with a series of hit musicals that are still
done in high mass today. Porter had his share of incredibly tough times, and it simply only makes
his rise to the top even more impressive. Cole Porter is without a doubt one of the best composers

Porter reintroduced himself in 1928 with the musical Paris. This musical contained what is
considered to be one of his best list songs, Let s Do It (Let s Fall In Love . For the next few
years, Porter was constantly writing for huge shows and revues and was finally regaining his
credibility as a writer. His peak of this time would come in 1934 with the timeless musical
Anything Goes. Anything Goes is considered by many to be the greatest score of this period
(and many people would say it is Porter s greatest ever as well). The original Off Broadway
incarceration would go on to be revived several times on Broadway, winning many awards in the
process. In addition to Broadway and theater, Cole also was constantly writing for Hollywood at
the time as well. These scores included scores for Born to Dance in 1936, featuring You d Be So
Easy to Love and I ve Got You Under My Skin , and Rosalie in 1937, featuring In the Still of the

Illegal Immigrants In America
Illegal immigration is a very controversial topic in America today. There is a controversy over
whether or not America should be allowing these illegal people in, and whether or not they
should receive privileges reserved for American citizens. The humanitarian argument is to let
everyone who needs help in and to allow them to establish residency and be afforded all of the
privileges of a citizen, which would include welfare, public schools, etc. However, the overall
state of the country must be considered over that of the happiness and comfort of non citizens.

When the Irish came to America they were persecuted and discriminated against, many not being

problem began when immigrants from South America began crossing the nation s southern border

Writing Style Of Frankenstein
Mary Shelley writing style for the novel Frankenstein is very special as it is written in a creative
narrative point of view even though when reading it there are times when one can forget that
Robert Walton is the true singular narrator. Frankenstein is both a frame narrative and a story
within a story, the story within the story is seen through Walton telling of Victor s telling of the
Creature s story. Mary Shelley s writing style can clearly be seen in the novel with the letters
from Robert Walton to his sister in which you can see the narrative point of view, however as
you continue to chapter one it becomes hard to see that as it becomes the story within a story
which then again happens when the creature tell Victor about what he has been doing since he
was created. All of theses events are told by Walton yet it is hard to tell as the novel began to use
words like I and my as if Victor was the narrator for example I am by birth a Genevese, and my

as he is saying it. This can be seen throughout the main part of the story but towards the end with

Complications of IVF
About 16% of heterosexual couples ages 18 44 are experiencing infertility. Indeed, it is seen in
previous studies that the older the woman the higher the rate of infertility, but recent studies
have indicated that couples ages 19 29 the rate of infertility has increased in a range from 7% to
13.7%. In addition, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after a whole year of
intercourse without the use of contraception. Infertility has a very high emotional impact on
couples. According to Sher, Davis and Stoess (2005) When asked what they considered to be a
primary problem in their lives, almost 80 percent of the couples replied that it was their inability
to conceive. It usually causes emotional pain amongst couples. Some methods usually used to treat
infertility include counseling, surgery to repair any anatomical damage and drugs to help with
ovulation and sperm function. (Sher et al., 2005)The last poplar method usually used in North
America is known as in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is a process whereas the egg(s) are fertilized
outside of a woman s body. When the procedure is successful, the zygote(s) are placed in the
uterus. IVF does have its advantages for woman under the maternal age but it also has a serious risk
associated with going through with the process. IVF increases the chance of multiple births,
ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome and ectopic pregnancy. Multiple births is a result of more than
one zygote being present in a woman s uterus

Music And Dance Of The Caribbean
MUSI 1004 Term Project
A.Video Review on the video of:
The JVC/ Smithsonian Folkways Video Anthology of Music and Dance of the Americas Volume 4:
Music and Dance of the Caribbean
In this video review, I am going to discuss the musical background and components observed in the
video about the Music and Dance of the Caribbean from Latin America.
On the background of Caribbean music: the Amerindians are the first people that have settled in the
Caribbean and thus are the pioneers of Caribbean music. Moreover, one can trace the original roots
of Caribbean music back to common roots in Africa since during the slave trade from Africa, many
rhythms were geographically transferred to the Western Hemisphere. As a result, the rhythms of
inhabitants in the indigenous island are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Caribbean music is performed for occasions of hunting, for working in the
agricultural fields. Their music can function as love songs, lullabies or tributes to the dead too.
Some Caribbean music are also found in large scale public celebrations such as carnivals, festivals
and competitions, such as track 4 1 (Tuk Band) and track 4 32 (Carnival Montage) in the video
where the performance occurs in an inter Caribbean cultural festival.
Besides, certain Caribbean music is considered to be of a more divine nature, which possesses
supernatural virtues that are not meant to be comprehended nor translated by the regular human.
Such Caribbean music are performed in the belief of communicating with the gods, or in order
to cure the sick and protect the inhabitants on the islands from evil spirits as well as earthly
enemies, or to show ritualistic devotion. This is seen for example in track 4 2 (Fiesta de Guiro) as
well as in track 4 28 which showcases a spiritual Baptist Rite.
Lastly, on the musical form, in the video Caribbean music includes a variety of

Mental Illness And Mental Health
Mental health is very important to many people in and around this country. Millions of
Americans live with various types of mental illness and mental health problems. Treatment
options often include medication and psychotherapy. There are several categories of mental
illness to include personality disorders, mood disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety
disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, psychotic disorders and many more. Many of
these disorders can be referenced in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM 5, APA, 2013). DSM is the most universal of modern classification systems for mental
disorders. These are used by clinicians, therapist, social workers and other social service
professionals to assess and assist in diagnosing individuals with various symptoms that meet the
criteria of a diagnosis. So many people deal with the symptoms of mental illness and never are able
to tell their story. In An Unquiet Mind, by Kay Redfield Jamison, she recounts her struggles with
bipolar disorder and manic depression. She struggled with her disease for a number of years and
it was uplifting on how she was finally able to come to terms with her illness and be able to
manage it. When you think of mood disorders, depression and bipolar disorder likely come to
mind first. That s because these are common, severe illnesses and leading cause of disability.
Depression and bipolar disorder can be emotionally crippling, making it difficult to live

Hurricane Harvey Hurricane
Natural disasters have costed the government a massive amount in the past years. Hurricanes
such as Katrina left people in Florida, Haiti, Louisiana and other parts of the gulf feeling
helpless. Katrina ravaged states along the coast of the gulf making it the most expensive damage
from a natural disaster, 108 billion dollars. However, in 2017, the disasters required over three
hundred and ten billion dollars for repairs (Bowden, 2017). How will this be paid for? Will the
government have to cut budgets from other programs? Over five natural disasters have struck the
United Statesand surrounding countries this year. These disasters consisted of hurricanes,

Hurricane Irma crippled Puerto Rico with one of the largest blackouts in history. CNN reported
last month that only twenty six percent of the electricity in Puerto Rico had been restored since
the hurricane ripped through in September (Levenson, 2017). It has been over three months and
over half of their population is lacking electricity and clean water. By the time Irma reached
Florida, it regained momentum and flooded Miami with over twenty inches of rain (Weather
Channel, 2017). This resulted in a state of emergency and complete shutdown of the city. Also,
Orlando and Walt Disney World experienced some aggressive winds and thunderstorms. Wildfires
engulfing California reached ten billion dollars in repair costs. This estimated cost was shared
before the fires roared into Southern California. Solutions to this continued problem could include
reserving more funds into the natural disasters budget. This would provide a safety net for the

Science Merit And Scientific Merit
Unit 10 DB 1 Concept of Scientific Merit Introduction As future scholars, we tend to hear a lot
about Scientific Merit. But, that same old question might pop in our mines, which is should this
learner even care or worry about scientific merit? We are told that without any scientific merit,
that our research that we have worked so hard on cannot be considered a valid research without
it, and if we are at the end part of our schooling/studies, and hope to receive an approval from the
IRB for our research proposal, that will not happen if it is missing. Therefore, within this paper,
we will discuss scientific merits, explain the dimensions of scientific merit, discuss the aspects
of the study that was chosen for the Scientific Merit, and choose an area of scientific merit that
we could have improved. Scientific merit Scientific merit is considered as a way to examine if
our research study represents good science. Therefore, we will need to make sure that any
research we are working on, clearly states the research questions and its overall objectives. The
research should also include the contextual data that will also have peer reviewed literature to
support why the research is needed. We also should make sure that if human beings are being
used as participants, that their privacy and safety will be respected, and if there is any possibility
of harm, no matter how small it is, and the benefit and risks whether indirect or direct for the
partakers in the study needs to be very

Happiness In Fahrenheit 451 And A Clean Well-Lighted Place
Happiness differentiates for every individual. Faking happiness can occur as well. Humans can
be materialistic and hard to please because of their need to want more. Some people can be
content with a poor lifestyle because of their supporting family. Some may even appear to have
everything in the world, but can be suffering inside. This could be due to loneliness, pain, illness,
depression, or even loss of loved ones. Many characters from Fahrenheit 451and A clean Well
Lighted place were unhappy, while some were actually happy.
Montag s wife from Fahrenheit 451 was an example of someone who was unhappy. As soon as
Montag got home from a long day at work She kept telling him to buy a new interactive tv set.
She already had a new TV set, house, friends, and etc. She was called to be in the Family show
that everyone watches. Montag knew she wasn t the only Mildred to be called that day, but his
wife insisted that she was special. All Mildred cared about was fitting in. She hated being different.
When Montag was bringing out his books she kept telling him to put them away and to act normal.
She did nothing but hate his books even though she wouldn t try to read it. She had already
attempted to commit suicide before by overdosing on pills. This shows that something was eating at
her even though she had everything .
The younger waiter from A Clean Well Lighted Place would be labeled as happy. Even though he
works minimum wage as a waiter he has something to look forward to.

The Between Intelligence And Longevity
Mental ability can be defined as having the cognitive ability to acquire and preserve knowledge.
The prospect of mental abilities being associated to longevity has been an area of interest for
social scientists. Scottish Mental Surveys (SMS) of 1932 and 1947 carried a major research on
intelligence longevity association. This essay will demonstrate how different studies have
supported the association using the four mechanisms proposed in the Scottish Mental Surveys: (a)
bodily insults, (b) bodily system integrity, (c) predictor of healthy behaviour, and (d) predictor of
safer environment. (Deary, Whiteman, Starr, Whalley, Fox, 2004) Additional research will be
applied to analyse the effectiveness of the causal mechanisms for the relationship between
intelligenceand longevity, and highlight on limitations in research that may falsify the relationship.
Finally, the essay will conclude on whether evidence provided from different mechanisms is
explicit enough to support the association, and provide suggestions on how the scope of enquiry
can be broadened.
Bodily insult is the first proposed mechanism and it refers to risks that are harmful later in health,
but are determined prenatally or in childhood. (Deary, Whiteman, Starr, Whalley, Fox, 2004) These
insults are likely to be genetic and develop as an individual age. Gene inheritance is the explanation
as to why traits are passed down through many generations of human beings. The mechanism,
bodily insults, can be linked

1984 Technology Analysis
In George Orwell s 1984 novel, the government known as Big Brother controlled and monitored
the citizens by numerous types of technology. The technology used were telescreens, thought
police, the government was able to get complete control over the people of Oceania. While the
ideas of technology were ahead of the actual time frame of the novel, they should be dismissed.
While our technology continues to develop over time, there is not a way of telling how it will
affect the future in the book. If it gets put into the wrong hands, important information and
technology can be very harmful as shown in the novel 1984. With the modernization of technology
in 1984 takes the form, it was used for controlling means. By placing telescreens and all across
Oceania in every household and room, the Party monitors it constantly. At work, in the comforts of
their own home, even in giant plazas and marketplaces, Oceanians cannot expect privacy. The Party
s use of surveillance technology is only one of the methods it employs to ensure and ascertain
control. Smith! Screamed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without the technology, I believe that The Party would crumble under having no social
advantages over the working class. Winston is at an advantage find places where there is no
telescreens or spies; which also shows that even with the greatest amount of control; there are
always spaces where people can sneak around. Big Brother Is Watching You (Orwell 2), this
statement from the book isn t always the truth. The main items of technology in the book are
necessary for the society to run as strict as it does without this, more give would be created for
the workers; rather than none at all. Without the telescreens no news on how the war was going
would be spread, no false hope or lies could be spread by the party. I also think maybe, it s not
technology itself which gives you an advantage; it s the knowledge of how to use

The 5 Communication Styles Based On The Lecture Material
PD7 A2
JRMARION
The 5 communication styles based on the lecture material are competing, avoiding, accommodating,
compromising and collaborating.
The competing style is used when people trying to achieve a goal or accomplish something. It is
used during arguments, such as when you are arguing against somebody else to prove a point.
The avoiding style is used when a person shows little interest in the other party they are
communicating with. This is used when often when interacting with a person you identify as an
unimportant stranger, such as when you bump into a stranger in a crowd and apologize.
The compromising style is used when a person cares about who they are interacting with and care
about their objectives / goals. An example of this would be scheduling with a friend over when to
meet up to do something since you care about their opinion and are willing to try to compromise.
The accommodating stance is used when you care more about the other party s goals more than
your own (in many cases). An example of this would be if your boss asked you to work overtime
and even though you didn t want to you agreed to do it.
The collaborating stance is used when both parties plan to accomplish their goals fully (unlike
compromising where the goals cannot be fully met) and to improve the relationship between them.
An example of this would be trading with somebody where both sides end up better off afterwards.
The 4 communication tools for understanding cultural differences as

Sex Segregation in the Workplace Essay
Why are most brain surgeons and CEO s male? Why are most secretaries and nurses female? Why
not female surgeons and male nurses? These are simple and frequent questions that can be
answered by most Sociologist and Theorists. Sociologists and Theorists equate this type of job
inequality phenomenon with occupational sexsegregation. Sex segregation in the workplace is one
of the most visible signs of inequality in the labor market. In almost every work setting, it is rare to
see men and women working at the same job. When they do, they usually perform different tasks,
with unequal levels of responsibility and authority. Even when job tasks are virtually identical, it is
not uncommon to find men and women allocated to distinct job... Show more content on

Employers try to maximize profits by maximizing productivity and minimizing costs to the extent
possible, but because of competition and efficient labor markets, employers pay workers their
marginal product. So, this theory explains why more males than females are surgeons; because they
seem to have better opportunities for education and they tend to lack certain obligations that
females have. Whereas many women find it difficult to find the time to obtain this education
because of their certain obligations life hands them, for example taking care of a family and raising
children.
When explaining occupational sex segregation by sex, researchers usually distinguish labor
supply and labor demand factors. Factors related to labor supply generally focus on why women
prefer certain types of occupation for example, women may prefer those with flexible hours in
order to allow time for child care, and may also prefer occupations which are relatively easy to
interrupt for a period of time to bear or rear children. Explanations related to labor demand focus on
why employers generally prefer to hire women or men for particular occupations and why women
and men have different opportunities for promotion and career development within firms.
Institutional and labor market segmentation theories are another explanation for why

Stargirl Quotes
One theme of the book Stargirl, by Jerry Spenelli, is that you should always be true to yourself.
The book is an uplifting story set in Arizona, at Mica High School, where a mysterious and free
spirited girl, Stargirl, starts her first day of school, after being homeschooled her whole life. She
came to school on her first day of tenth grade wearing and off white dress, so long, it covered her
shoes. Stargirlhad hair the color of sand that fell to her shoulders, and she carried her ukulele and
her pet rat around school with her. Stargirl definitely captured everyone s attention, but, with just

  • 2. Comparing Heart Of Darkness And The Secret Sharer Heart of Darkness Literary Analysis In comparing Heart of Darkness with The Secret Sharer, one would most likely notice the many similarities between the two main characters. The captain in The Secret Sharer and Charlie Marlow both mention their dark sides . They fight against this alter ego and try to be more philanthropic and gregarious. Marlow feels pity for Kurtz when he finds him dying, much like the captain feels when he gives Leggatt the white hat. They also compare themselves to people they do not tend to resemble. Leggatt and Kurtz are also extremely analogous. Most would concur that Kurtz is not a good person. He treats the natives terribly and becomes worse than the people he demeans. Leggatt is a murderer and seems like the anti protagonist throughout the entire story. They get away with their terrible sins in the end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not much disparate from the ending of Heart of Darkness in which Marlow lies to Kurtz s fiancГ©. Considering that the two books were only published eleven years apart, it is not unpredictable. Still eleven years can harbor a plethora of changes in a society. The endings show that society let people assume information about others. Instead of letting Kurtz s fiancГ© know what was actually happening in Africa, he preserved her idea of the amazing man that Kurtz was. This is an example of racism in that time period. The captain lets a murderer escape his ship because he felt sorry for him, because he did not think Leggatt deserved to be caught. Justice did not catch up to either of these characters. This could show that in that time period people did not really care what others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. NaГЇve B Lymphocytes NaГЇve B lymphocytes express two classes of membrane bound antibodies, IgM and IgD that function as the receptor for antigens. These naГЇve B cells are activated by antigens. The activation of B lymphocytes results in the proliferation of antigen specific cells, also called clonal expansion and their differentiation into effector cells that actively secrete antibodies. During their differentiation, some B cells may begin to produce antibodies of different heavy chain classes (or isotypes). This process is called heavy chain class (isotype) switching. Repeated exposure to a proteinantigen results in the production of antibodies with increasing affinity for the antigen. This process is called affinity maturation and it lead to the production ... Alvey American Public University System Air Force Information Technology Service Management through Remedy The United States Air Force manages a global network supporting over eight hundred thousand users (Gibson Fair, n.d.). Administering a network on that scale requires an organized approach to providing IT services to a vast customer base. Information Technology (IT) Service Management is the framework and imbedded processes by which an IT organization both manages the services it provides and delivers those services to customers (Drogseth, 2015). The Air Force utilizes the Remedy system to automate Service Management functions for its enterprise network. Remedy provides the various system users with multiple features to streamline and optimize their respective Service Management functions to include the Network Help Desk (United States, 2014). The Incident Management Console provides the user interface to create, route, modify and gather statistics on all Incident Tickets. Incidents are those types of work requests that involve some kind of network outage. When the console is opened, the user is taken to a home page that is divided into two main sections. • 6. Persecuted Church Horrifying evil shocks us into paralysis. That is the point of terrorism: not just to kill, but to demoralize any opposition into hopelessness and inaction. As urgent as it is to document Christian persecution in our time to shine a light on it, it s important too to understand that evil doesn t stand unopposed. There are signs of hope: the heroic virtue of many Christians in the face of genocidal attack; the help they have received from noble allies; and some signs that the tide may have turned and things can get better. The Ongoing Tyranny Of Statistical Significance Testing Article by Stang, Poole and Kuss (2010) titled The ongoing tyranny of statistical significance testing in biomedical research describe common misuses and interpretation of statistical significance testing (SST). The authors point out fallacy understanding in interpretive the p value and how it often mixed in measuring effect size and its precision. This misconception then they assert may impede scientific progress and furthermore become unintended harmful treatment. They also proposed an important way out of the significance fallacies in this article. Therefore, in this article review, all the finding that made by the authors will be summarized and review of it will be drawn based on other references. 1.Statistical Significance Test (SST) and P value Stang, Poole and Kuss explain, in SST, P value is an important part to decide the null hypothesis. The SST itself, they explain is analytical approach that developed based on two prominent statisticians, Fisher and the Neyman Pearson. However, in present practical, SST is incompatible amalgamation of those two theories. In Fisher theory, P value represents the strength of evidence against the null hypothesis: the lower the P value, the stronger the evidence. In this theory, they criticize lake of alternative hypothesis and concept of statistical power. In contrast Neyman and Person theory included the alternative for the null hypothesis, type I and II error and theoretical of effect size. This hybrid method leads to ... • 8. Analysis Of Ask Me If I Care And Safari Essay Women have a few common tropes in literature. Seen as submissive to men, and sexualized because of it, women are presented as less than. While this has been strayed from a little bit in modern literature with the engagement of queer writers, it is still very much the normal view of women, due to a society in which the view on women is that of being less than. The short stories Ask Me if I Care and Safari by Jennifer Egan both perpetuate this idea of women as submissive. Egan presents female characters who only exist in the context of men, thus leaving them to be seen as inferior to the men. These tropes of women in literature, and Egan s use of them, fit into the larger conversation: there is a degradation of women in literature due to common conceptions of women in society. Egan presents multiple female characters in Ask Me if I Care . The short story touches on a group of friends, and in this group are the two characters of Rhea and Jocelyn both female. While they may seem to be presented differently, Rhea as a not interested in being sexualized character and Jocelyn as a sexualizes herself character, both ultimately play into the trope of submissive and degraded women. Rhea, from the beginning, is portrayed as needing men: Still, if it s Bennie and me I hope for the back, so that I can push against his shoulder in the cold, and hold him for a second when we hit a bump (Egan, Ask Me ). While this may seem innocuous, it is the first introduction to Rhea. The very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Having a business I will be taking into consideration an extreme chance of globalization and trade in context. Now there will be tariffs, business and government now getting involved in my company one way or another. All of this brings to thought why the United States saves part of the economic policies and procedures. In this assignment I will be talking about the governmental effects on trade policies and how they are used in different businesses. Also included will be how doing business in other countries might influence company owners. Does NAFTA have any effect on automobile industries and the trade agreement? Some educational information I found was that the US is 238 years old and in the past 193 or so years the United States has had a foreign trade and global economic policy in place. Several things have been altered over and over again since the original policy had been written. The US focused more on how the government and businesses could improve on the domestic economy no matter what was happening in other countries. The Great Depression and World War II along with the country s population wanted to create less trade obstacles and manage the world s financial structure. Free tradein the US has shown that it is progressing in the monetary welfare and creating diplomatic interactions between other states. So, now that free trade has resulted in global trade there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Genetic Code Research Paper The genetic code can be defined as a series of rules that determine how genetic material is translated into proteins. Specifically, it refers to the correspon dence between a particular amino acid and a group of codons [8]. The first amino acid codon association to be uncovered was phenylalanine and the codon con sisting of three uracil ribonucleotides [9]. A monu mental achievement of modern science, the unravel ing of this code has allowed researchers to synthesize proteins using transcriptional machinery. Human in sulin, for example, is synthesized for pharmaceutical use by applying this knowledge [13]. Questions on the origins of this newly deciphered code, however, remained unanswered. The origin of the genetic code pertains to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ge netic code, then, reached its modern form through a feedback loop involving both genetic material and metabolism [4]. The coevolution theory thus pro poses that the genetic code initially only coded for a few amino acids which served as precursors. These precursors allowed for the concurrent evolution of both the genetic code and biosynthetic pathways [14]. The coevolution theory takes into account the amount of natural selection required in order to bring forth the singular universal genetic code. The amount of precursor amino acids, as well as the subdivision process of codon domains, allows for coevolution be tween primitive amino acids and the early genetic ... • 11. Data Warehousing And Cloud Computing INTRODUCTION This paper clearly illustrates the concepts of Data warehousing and Cloud computing. It also discusses the benefits and disadvantages of implementing Data Warehouse in a Cloud. Both cloud computing and data warehousing are the latest trends in modern computing. DWH is an integrated software component of the cloud and it provides timely support and accurate response to complex queries with Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and data mining tools. Cloud computing provides reasonable speed of services in a less period of time when it is compared to in house data warehouse deployment. Reduced cost, a pay per use payment model and backups are also made available by cloud computing. Besides these there are several challenges when deploying data warehouses in the cloud. These challenges may include security, computational and network problems. These problems are mainly caused often due to incompatible nature of functional requirements to deploy DWH in the cloud environment. Cloud providers offer a low end node for computations and a local data warehousing systems is good in terms of CPU, memory and disk bandwidth. Growing need of cloud computing will allow its evolution more in future to accommodate critical DWH. The evolving nature of cloud computing and DWH will help the small and medium sized businesses. EXPLANATION OF PAPER A common feature of data warehouse on which most of the scholars agree upon is that a data warehouse acts as storage of historical data. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However this holds not true because Poverty stricken areas like Chicago did not become great cities over years, instead Chicago still holds its place as one of the most dangerous, violent cities in America. Periodontitis Essay Periodontitis is defined as an inflammatory disease of the supporting tissues of the teeth caused by specific microorganisms or groups of specific microorganisms, resulting in progressive destruction of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone with pocket formation, recession or both. 1 Periodontal diseaseisan ubiquitous infection in humans displaying the classic hallmarks of the inflammatory response. Late sequelaeof periodontal diseases are the loss of alveolar bone,,mobile teeth leading to a demolished periodontium. Therefore, earlier detection and treatment leads to improved outcomes for patients.2 The main transgressors in Periodontal diseases are gram negative bacteria that elicit a host response, which cause an aftermath of osseous and soft tissue destruction. The host response plays the role of a second fiddle through mediators like proteinases, cytokines and prostaglandins causing severe tissue loss.2 Cytokines are the linchpins in mediating numerous biological activities including proliferation, development, differentiation, homeostasis, regeneration, repair and inflammation. ... • 18. The Process Of Aging And Metabolism The process of aging is one many dread and try to avoid. Arguably even worse than aging are age related diseases that see their onset as people get older. Aging and metabolism have been found to be closely connected. As individuals age, they usually gain weight because metabolism slows and their body composition changes. According to a paper published in Nature, after age 45 the average person loses about 10% of their muscle mass each decade and that mass is generally just turned into fat because their muscles cannot metabolize and use the added calories being consumed. As a result, consuming fewer calories has been proven to consistently extend lifespans and delay age related diseases in evolutionary diverse organisms, meaning specialized multi cellular organisms such as humans and animals. • 25. Empirical Research For Treatment Of Intercultural Marriage Empirical Research for treatment of Intercultural Marriage According to Hsu (2001), intercultural marriage is marriage formed by partners with relatively diverse cultural backgrounds (p.225). This is prominently seen through the film, in which Toula, a Grecian American marries Ian Miller, a Caucasian American. This film depicts the conflict that surrounds this union prior to marriage, such as planning the wedding, navigating the cultural differences and gaining parental approval for the union. Although it is understandable that intercultural marriage comes with far more difficulties than depicted. Hsu (2001) discusses that intercultural marriage, as opposed to intramarriage, where partners are from the same cultural background, often go to couple therapy because the merger of the two individual s cultural beliefs and values is causing conflict. However, because an individual s culture is embedded into their identity it is difficult to address cultural differences in a relationship. Consequently, a majority of the research available on treating intercultural marriage relates to the post modern belief of social constructionism and narrative therapy. According to Biever, Bobele and North (1998), understandings that are created about client s situations and the culture arise out of a mutual, collaborate construction of meaning (p. 184). • 40. Essay on Cole Porter Musical theater has been filled with countless talented composers. The amount of talent in the theater world is endless, but only few composers gain iconic status. The Gershwins, Rogers Hammerstein, and Stephen Sondheim come to mind when thinking of the pinnacle of composing. One other man who deserves his permanent place with these others would be Cole Porter. Porter s extensive library of songs has become classics along with a series of hit musicals that are still done in high mass today. Porter had his share of incredibly tough times, and it simply only makes his rise to the top even more impressive. Cole Porter is without a doubt one of the best composers to ever write for the stage in history. Cole Porter was born in Peru,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Porter reintroduced himself in 1928 with the musical Paris. This musical contained what is considered to be one of his best list songs, Let s Do It (Let s Fall In Love . For the next few years, Porter was constantly writing for huge shows and revues and was finally regaining his credibility as a writer. His peak of this time would come in 1934 with the timeless musical Anything Goes. Anything Goes is considered by many to be the greatest score of this period (and many people would say it is Porter s greatest ever as well). The original Off Broadway incarceration would go on to be revived several times on Broadway, winning many awards in the process. In addition to Broadway and theater, Cole also was constantly writing for Hollywood at the time as well. These scores included scores for Born to Dance in 1936, featuring You d Be So Easy to Love and I ve Got You Under My Skin , and Rosalie in 1937, featuring In the Still of the Night . Porter was once again living a life of luxury and happiness, constantly throwing parties and being in the presence of celebrities. It seemed as though Cole was on top again, until a tragic riding accident in 1937 crushed both of his legs, leaving him largely crippled. Porter would undergo over 30 surgeries on his legs, and remained in pain for the remainder of his life. The pressures of the accident led ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a controversy over whether or not America should be allowing these illegal people in, and whether or not they should receive privileges reserved for American citizens. The humanitarian argument is to let everyone who needs help in and to allow them to establish residency and be afforded all of the privileges of a citizen, which would include welfare, public schools, etc. However, the overall state of the country must be considered over that of the happiness and comfort of non citizens. • 42. Writing Style Of Frankenstein Mary Shelley writing style for the novel Frankenstein is very special as it is written in a creative narrative point of view even though when reading it there are times when one can forget that Robert Walton is the true singular narrator. Frankenstein is both a frame narrative and a story within a story, the story within the story is seen through Walton telling of Victor s telling of the Creature s story. Mary Shelley s writing style can clearly be seen in the novel with the letters from Robert Walton to his sister in which you can see the narrative point of view, however as you continue to chapter one it becomes hard to see that as it becomes the story within a story which then again happens when the creature tell Victor about what he has been doing since he was created. But, that same old question might pop in our mines, which is should this learner even care or worry about scientific merit? We are told that without any scientific merit, that our research that we have worked so hard on cannot be considered a valid research without it, and if we are at the end part of our schooling/studies, and hope to receive an approval from the IRB for our research proposal, that will not happen if it is missing. Therefore, within this paper, we will discuss scientific merits, explain the dimensions of scientific merit, discuss the aspects of the study that was chosen for the Scientific Merit, and choose an area of scientific merit that we could have improved. Scientific merit Scientific merit is considered as a way to examine if our research study represents good science. Therefore, we will need to make sure that any research we are working on, clearly states the research questions and its overall objectives. The research should also include the contextual data that will also have peer reviewed literature to support why the research is needed. We also should make sure that if human beings are being used as participants, that their privacy and safety will be respected, and if there is any possibility of harm, no matter how small it is, and the benefit and risks whether indirect or direct for the partakers in the study needs to be very ... • 51. The Between Intelligence And Longevity Mental ability can be defined as having the cognitive ability to acquire and preserve knowledge. The prospect of mental abilities being associated to longevity has been an area of interest for social scientists. Scottish Mental Surveys (SMS) of 1932 and 1947 carried a major research on intelligence longevity association. This essay will demonstrate how different studies have supported the association using the four mechanisms proposed in the Scottish Mental Surveys: (a) bodily insults, (b) bodily system integrity, (c) predictor of healthy behaviour, and (d) predictor of safer environment. (Deary, Whiteman, Starr, Whalley, Fox, 2004) Additional research will be applied to analyse the effectiveness of the causal mechanisms for the relationship between intelligenceand longevity, and highlight on limitations in research that may falsify the relationship. Finally, the essay will conclude on whether evidence provided from different mechanisms is explicit enough to support the association, and provide suggestions on how the scope of enquiry can be broadened. Bodily insult is the first proposed mechanism and it refers to risks that are harmful later in health, but are determined prenatally or in childhood. (Deary, Whiteman, Starr, Whalley, Fox, 2004) These insults are likely to be genetic and develop as an individual age. The 5 Communication Styles Based On The Lecture Material PD7 A2 JRMARION The 5 communication styles based on the lecture material are competing, avoiding, accommodating, compromising and collaborating. The competing style is used when people trying to achieve a goal or accomplish something. It is used during arguments, such as when you are arguing against somebody else to prove a point. The avoiding style is used when a person shows little interest in the other party they are communicating with. This is used when often when interacting with a person you identify as an unimportant stranger, such as when you bump into a stranger in a crowd and apologize. The compromising style is used when a person cares about who they are interacting with and care about their objectives / goals. An example of this would be scheduling with a friend over when to meet up to do something since you care about their opinion and are willing to try to compromise. The accommodating stance is used when you care more about the other party s goals more than your own (in many cases). An example of this would be if your boss asked you to work overtime and even though you didn t want to you agreed to do it. The collaborating stance is used when both parties plan to accomplish their goals fully (unlike compromising where the goals cannot be fully met) and to improve the relationship between them. An example of this would be trading with somebody where both sides end up better off afterwards. The 4 communication tools for understanding cultural differences as ... These are simple and frequent questions that can be answered by most Sociologist and Theorists. Sociologists and Theorists equate this type of job inequality phenomenon with occupational sexsegregation. Sex segregation in the workplace is one of the most visible signs of inequality in the labor market. In almost every work setting, it is rare to see men and women working at the same job. Employers try to maximize profits by maximizing productivity and minimizing costs to the extent possible, but because of competition and efficient labor markets, employers pay workers their marginal product. So, this theory explains why more males than females are surgeons; because they seem to have better opportunities for education and they tend to lack certain obligations that females have. Whereas many women find it difficult to find the time to obtain this education because of their certain obligations life hands them, for example taking care of a family and raising children. When explaining occupational sex segregation by sex, researchers usually distinguish labor supply and labor demand factors. Factors related to labor supply generally focus on why women prefer certain types of occupation for example, women may prefer those with flexible hours in order to allow time for child care, and may also prefer occupations which are relatively easy to interrupt for a period of time to bear or rear children. Explanations related to labor demand focus on why employers generally prefer to hire women or men for particular occupations and why women and men have different opportunities for promotion and career development within firms.
