Why Does Scout Admire Miss Maudie
To Kill Mockingbird by Harper Lee Summer Homework Questions By Jasmine Kosovrasti 1) Scout
admires Miss Maudie due to her kindness, honesty, patience, and love towards Jem, Dill, and Scout.
She also admires Miss Maudie because no matter what life throws at her, for example her house
burning down, Miss Maudie tries to look at the bright side of things. Miss Maudie takes others well
being before her own. 2) Atticus accepted the job to defend Tom Robinson because he believes
everyone is equal. That just because Tom Robinson is a man of color, that is no reason to refuse to
defend him. Atticus values equality and justice and he thought now would be a good opportunity to
display the importance of such values to his children. 3) Scout Fights with Ciel Jacobs and Francis
because she wanted to defend her father, Atticus. The boys called her father a Nigger lover and
hearing this insult towards her beloved father, who she knows is incapable of being anything but a fair
a kind man, makes her want to fight back. 4) Aunt Alexandra disapproved of Scout because she
believed Scout was too much of a tomboy. Aunt Alexandra thought Scout needed to begin acting like a
lady and she expresses these thoughts to both Scout and Atticus. 5) Uncle ... Show more content on

realization that she stands up for her principles and she educates herself and her son. That she speaks

Position Paper on Stephen Covey
Position Paper on Stephen Covey s, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
MG 401 Senior Seminar in Management Introduction In 1989, Stephen Covey s book The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People started a landmark revolution in how we think about time and life
management. In this book, Covey presents seven principles for developing effectiveness in our private
and public lives. By developing these habits, one moves from being dependent on other people to
being and acting independently. Then we learn how to move to the more advanced state of
interdependence and successful Cooperation. As a part of the seven habits, Covey introduced
important and powerful techniques of time management under the habit of Put First Things First. ...

Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people. Covey s purpose in
detailing the seven habits is to help people improve themselves. The seven habits are woven into a
diagram that shows the working of all seven habits in communion. When viewing the diagram, one is
reminded of Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into thirteen pieces, with
the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing the picture as a whole, as well
as seeing the development from dependence to independence to interdependence. The first three
habits, which lead to independence, a private victory, lead to the final four steps, which include public
victory. My favorite quote of the book is It is nobler to give yourself completely to one individual than
to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. (Page 201). My job places me in a position of
leadership over other leaders. Often I see these leaders locked into a limited vision when faced with a
difficult situation. They see only a win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently
and think about the book s section on win/win and seeing outside the box. The first habit talks about
being proactive; being proactive is the foundation of the entire seven habits paradigm. In a sense, all
the other habits are types of being proactive. This entails a realization that you are a person who

Analysis Of Montezuma Conquest
Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico
A Historical Book Review The historical narrative, Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old
Mexico by Hugh Thomas, is a brilliant and meticulously detailed account of the clash between
empires. It gives one a multi sided perspective of all the parties involved during this period, not just of
the Europeans. The clash between Cortes and the Mexica, the birth of a new nation and the blatant
truth brought on by meticulous research and scripture are portrayed through this narrative. Conquest
begins, in detail, with the Aztecs or Mexica as they called themselves. The word Aztec was not used
during the sixteenth century, not even by Cortes. It gained its popularity from Fransisco Clavijero and
later used by Prescott (Thomas, 1993, p xix). The main focus of this civilization outlined their
leadership as well as military decisions. The Mexica dominated surrounding civilizations along the
Mexican valley for material gain, expansion and for trade. Their social classes, as well as standards,
culture, and way of life, was scripted in this cheater. One thing that caught my attention was the
scrupulously detailed account of human sacrifice and religion that played out in this chapter the more
that one read in. The Mexica worshipped many gods and sacrificed many humans to their gods to
bring about rain, health, prosperity and agricultural abundance. The Mexica s ritualistic sacrifices were
one of the things that

Personal Note On Self Love And Confidence
When I was younger I didn t know too much about self love and what it really meant. For as long as I
could remember I was always the heavier set girl with the gap. I was the funny girl, the friend to all
the guys. I was raised by my dad and brother, now don t get me wrong my mother was in my life but
she missed my first homecoming , my first crush , even my first period. I did not realize until I was a
little older how much not having a woman around would and could even affect me.Without her being
there I didn t know how to value myself. Now at 23 I am just starting to get a grasp on what self love
and confidence is. I would say that I really started to struggle with self confidence when I got to high
school. When I was in middle school, I had a blast, but once I entered high school everything changed.
I went into it thinking these friendships would last forever. Boy, was I wrong. I thought these years
turn those friendships I had into the sisters I never had. All it did was give me false ideas of self
esteem and depression. I would go to school daily and walk down the hall with some of the prettiest,
most popular girls and guys of each grade, wishing I was them. High school made me feel like
because I wasn t skinny with a perfect smile and the nicest clothes I wasn t pretty. Guys would always
go for my friends who were smaller than me , didn t have a gap , or wild hair. While in high school I
begin to develop insecurities about my weight and smile.I started to let

Mesopotamian Empire And Cyrus Similarities
There were several differences and similarities within the Persian Empire that emerged under Cyrus
the great and earlier Mesopotamian Empires. Not all empires flourished as well as Cyrus the great s
did due to his moral virtues and way of ruling. One king by the name of Tiglath had some similar
values but his empire did not prosper in such ways as Cyrus s. Not only were there differences and
similarities between these different Empires but there were also different ways that Cyrus and his
successors coopt earlier religious, political, and social traditions and i ll give several examples of them
within this essay. To start off with The Persian Empires under Cyrus s control did not flourish off of
brutal murder and harsh ruling as with several other empires operated. Cyrus is talked about as being a
legendary King not only in the battlefield but how he accomplished the goals he wanted to achieve. In
Chapter two page 31 of our book the authors use a very accurate quote By returning the jews to their
home land and helping them rebuild their temple, Cyrus presented himself as a champion of right
order . This quote speaks of Cyrus returning people from conquered territory the their homelands as
well as letting them continuing to practice their own religious beliefs. In cyrus s reign the new regions

Buena Vista Social Club Essay
In Wim Wender s Buena Vista Social Club, a sense provoking landscape is created through sounds and
visuals of both Havana and the collaborative musical effort of the members of Buena Vista Social
Club. Although we have examined many examples of landscapes through photographs and paintings,
the documentary offers a unique observance of landscape through its incorporation of moving images
and the sounds that accompany them. This is especially important when analyzing this film s
landscape, as the music embodies not only the main achievement of the group, but of the sounds of
Havana and its past. Buena Vista Social Club offers an interesting perspective on how Havana s
landscape has crumbled, changed and disappeared, only to be reconstituted through ... Show more

Throughout the entire film, the unknown audience follows along with the story of the Buena Vista
Social Club through a concert that Brian Davis would describe as a contact zone, which is a social
place where cultures meet, clash, and grapple with each other (Davis 84). In this interaction the Buena
Vista Social Club serves as the center, while the audience serves as the periphery that is receiving
ideas, images, and materials from the center through the lyrics of the song and music being played by
the instruments (Davis 83). Most of the songs that Buena Vista Social Club perform are centered
around the day to day struggles and celebrations of the people of Havana, whether that be a city
dweller or a campesino. The performance by the group is thus an auditory landscape of the true
lifestyle of the Havana natives and it is inherently an exhibit to the outsider of the crumbled landscape
of 1950s Havana that was reconstructed through the Buena Vista Social Club musical project.
Although the focus is primarily on the Buena Vista Social Club, the audience plays its part in the
landscape of this contact zone by expressing their approval and the excitement brought about by the
performance of the music group through the cheers and applause that can be heard throughout the

Hannah Bailey s Imaginary Adolescents
In American Teen, Hannah Bailey is an adolescent who lives with her grandparents. A teenager who
likes art, film, and photography. She is considered a Rebel in the film. She describes herself as strange
and different. Hannah does not fit in with the rest of the people in Indiana, she is just trying to get
through her last year in high school and leave.
In the beginning of the movie, Hannah comes off as a bright, happy, and outgoing girl. However, it
soon changed after her boyfriend, Joel, broke up with her. She really loved him and stated, I can never
imagine not having him in my life . (American Teen) When she found out he cheated on her it broke
her heart. She did not attend school for several days because she was miserable and could not deal
with the breakup. Hannah thought people would think of her as disgusting, worthless, stupid, and ugly.
It illustrates the idea of imaginary audience. Adolescents think that all eyes are on them and that
everyone is interested in what they do. In the same fashion, Hannah thinks that everyone at school will
look at her and think all those bad things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

grandparents about moving to California and pursuing her career in film and photography. However,
her grandparents do not think it is a good idea and try to persuade her to stay in Indiana. She then goes
on to say that, she does not want to be like everyone else and tells her grandparents I would take your
advice if I wanted to live your life (American Teen). Hannah is determined to not be like them when
she grows up. She wants to do something different and do something she will be remembered

How Does Aristotle Explain Eudaimonia
What constitutes a good life ? Aristotle sought the answer to this question. Two books, Nicomachean
ethics and Eudemuan ethics, were dedicated to discovering what a good life is. He reached the
conclusion that when someone acts, they are always striving towards some final goal. So how did
Aristotle explain eudaimonia or perfect happiness? Eudaimonia is the ultimate good we strive
towards, that requires no further questioning. What he means by no further questioning is this.
Something that is the final good you want to acquire from your work. Aristotle looked over several
possible answers before coming to his conclusion. First there is honor. But, we see that honor is just
another tool to reach ultimate fulfillment. Likewise, pleasure

My favorite orange juice is Tropicana. Because of this, I felt obliged to check out the poker room at
the Tropicana Casino. When I got there, I wondered what I had gotten myself into as the hotel itself
looked to need a little bit of work. Once inside, the place warmed up a little bit, though. I decided that
once I traveled all the way over there, I had to check out what their poker room was really like. The
Tropicana poker room itself leaves a lot to be desired, but it is probably better than the overall hotel.

The very name conjures up images of dusty trails and pearl handled revolvers and long blond locks
and card games and why a cheater should never sit with his back to the door. Often confused with that
other famous Bill, Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok was a lawman and a gambler and a rambler
and I guess he always will be. Hickok had all the attributes required for a Wild West legend and then
some some. Unlike Wyatt Earp, Wild Bill Hickok had courage to go along with his good looks and
skill with a gun. (In fact, Earp didn t even possess that, really; Wyatt Earp s only real talent with a
revolver lay in sneaking up behind his victims and cowardly cold cocking them.) By contrast, Wild
Bill s long yellow locks, penetrating eyes and heroism as an Army scout are not dependent upon
highly fictional Hollywood recreations of factual events in the way that pitiful Wyatt Earp was. Wild
Bill also holds a place in gambling legend; when you bet on a poker hand made up of two Aces and
two Eights, what you ve got there pardner is what is known as the Dead Man s Hand. Why? Because
that is final deck that Wild Bill ever played; the hand he was holding when a young man named Jack
McCall sauntered into the saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota where Wild Bill sat playing cards. Wild
Bill Hickok normally made a habit verging on obsession of never sitting anywhere where his vision
couldn t take in a panoramic view of everything in sight. There was a good reason for that and a bad
result the one time he lapsed. Jack McCall calmly walked up behind Wild Bill and shot him point
blank in the back of the head not terribly long after America had celebrated her first 100 years of
existence. Such was Wild Bill s ferocious reputation that McCall s explanation for his Earp level
cowardice was confined to these immortal words: I didn t want to commit suicide. Even aged and
slowed down by alcohol, one didn t willingly do anything that might cause one to come to face to face

psychological disorders, also called mental disorders have been misunderstood. Used to, people

Treatment of schizophrenic disorders involves taking drugs that are meant to decrease dopamine
amounts in the brain and to block dopamine receptors (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality
disorders are characteristic of a person s inability to adapt or be flexible to their environment through
their way of thinking and behavior. People with personality disorders include unconventional people,
as well as people who kill in cold blood serial killers for example (Morris and Maisto, 2002). A type of
personality disorder is paranoid personality disorder for which the person suffering from this cannot
trust anyone and is highly suspicious all the time. Most people with this disorder believe themselves to
be sensible and objective, but in reality they are argumentative, devious, secretive, and unable to take
the blame for their wrong doing (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are thought to be
aided by family, as well as community influences. For example, a child who feels rejected or
unwanted by a family member(s) will act out, taking his or her aggressions out in an unacceptable
manner such as defying rules and regulations at school or within the community (Morris and Maisto,
2002). Sexual disorders are classified into three main groups paraphilias, sexual dysfunction, and
gender identity disorders. Paraphilias disorder is the need to use unconventional objects to achieve
sexual arousal. Gender identity disorders

Luke Aikins Research Paper
With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many
heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil
became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit
or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size
of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely.
The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association
(USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. However, the association
had a change of heart just minutes before the event, which meant that Akins had no backup during the
historic leap. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ground, face first, with his arms outstretched. At about 10,000 feet, the skydiver handed his oxygen

Mitosis Research Paper
Mitosis is when nuclear division plus cytokinesis, and produces two identical daughter cells during
prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis. Which a cell duplicates into two genetically
alike daughter cells. In mitosis, chromosomes in the cell nucleus are separated into two identical sets
of chromosomes, each in its own nucleus. Interphase is included in mitosis discussions, but it is not
technically part of mitosis but rather ecompasses stages G1,S,and G2 of the cell cycle. The process of
mitosis is slow and simple. In stage G1 is where the organelles is copied. Stage S in mitosis is means

Interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. In interphase there is G1,S, and G2. In mitosis there is

The Qajar empire, brought to power under Agha Mohammad Khan, became, and maintained its

ancestrally from present day Azerbaijan, and it s leader set out to reunify Iran under their rule, leaving
a legacy that would live out the extent of the empire and find its way into modern day history books.
The experiences, strength, drive, and ruthlessness of Agha Mohammad Khan aided to secure his long

of improving a student s responsibility. When someone is into a routine of doing something every day
at the same time, he gets use to it and sometimes keeps that routine forever. One of the reasons study

Catalase Concentration On Hydrogen Peroxide
Effect of the concentration of hydrogen peroxide on volume of oxygen gas production, when reacted
with catalase.
Abstract
The aim of this laboratory experiment was to investigate the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration
on the rate at which oxygen is produced when the volume and temperature of 50% catalase and
volume of hydrogen peroxide solution are kept constant. It was expected that if the concentration of
hydrogen peroxide increased, then the production rate of oxygen gas would also increase until the
enzyme became saturated, following the Michaelis Menten relationship. For this to apply, the volume
and temperature of 50% catalase and volume of hydrogen peroxide solution were kept constant. Six
different concentrations were used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However the graph of the rate of O2 production for this experiment does not follow the Michaelis
Mentan relationship (Figure 9). Reasons for this could have been the inability to record gas production
in time intervals shorter than 10 seconds because the reaction occurred so rapidly. The first
measurement of O2 produced was recorded at 10 seconds, however by this time the reaction had
already completed (Figure 10), meaning the exact finishing point (between 1 10 seconds) of the
reaction was unknown. This then disturbs the calculation of the rate of O2 production. Some errors
that may have occurred include leakage of O2 from the flask, or small amounts of O2 could have
dissolved in water, disrupting the volume of gas produced, and therefore the calculation of the rate of

The Importance Of The Easter Vigil
At the Easter Vigil, a blazing fire is prepared... outside the church... on this most sacred night, in
which... [the Catholic Church celebrates the] Lord Jesus Christ[ s passing]... over from death to life.
The fire is then blessed by the priest. After igniting and blessing the Easter fire, one of the [attending]
ministers brings the paschal candle to the priest, who cuts a cross into the candle... Then he makes the
Greek letter Alpha above the cross, the letter Omega below, and the four numerals of the current year
between the arms of the cross. After marking the Christ candle with all the symbols just mentioned,
the priest may insert five grains of incense into the Easter candle in the form of a cross. These two
ritual actions (i.e. the blessing of the fire and the preparation of the Paschal candle) are essential
moments in the Easter Vigil liturgy. This paper will explore why these two ceremonial actions are
significant to the Catholic Church. To fully appreciate why these two actions are so meaningful, it is
necessary to examine four questions. First, what is the historical and symbolic background of these
two actions? Second, how are these two procedures initiatory? Third, what do they teach us about the
initiatory process? Fourth, what do these two ritualistic actions suggest for parish life?
The steps of starting and blessing the Easter fire have a rich historical background within the Catholic
Church. According to the rubrics of The Roman Missal, the fire should be

Gilbert Martinez was born in 1942, in crystal city Texas. Mr. Martinez was born Mexican American
and his parents were both from Mexico City. During that time racism was still very much alive and
most people in the city were Mexican American while the city council were white people. The city
council was unfair to most people and never listened to their opinion on city affairs. So Gilbert
decided when he was about 17 to start a campaign to run for city council. However he wasn t even
eighteen so he got some of his childhood friends to help him. Together they wanted to put local people
in for city council to get their word in and have representation. One of the problems they faced was a
tax that Minorities had to pay in order to vote. At that time the tax was a dollar and seventy five cents.

Martinez said one of the hardest things they had to do was find people willing to join and replace the

able to find people among their members in their meetings. They were able to get the five members
they needed some time five days before the election, this group was known as Los Cinco De La Rasa .
Mr. Martinez and his group were ready for the upcoming election. The previous White council was

The Hazards of High Protein, Low Carbohydrate Diets Essay
The Hazards of High Protein, Low Carbohydrate Diets
A young, healthy teenage girl fell to her death after following a high protein, low carbohydrate diet for
no more than two weeks. The girl, having no identified sicknesses or medical conditions, exhibited
electrolyte imbalances along with minimal levels of potassium and calcium, which appeared to be a
result of the diet according to doctors at the University of Missouri Health Science Center. These
irregularities upset the normal electrical function of her heart causing it to stop and her to collapse (
US teen . . . ). Based on this alone, it is evident that a high protein, low carbohydrate diet is not a safe
and healthy long term weight loss program.

High protein or ketogenic diets, those like the well known Atkins, are based solely on large
consumptions of proteins and fats while they restrict carbohydrates to a nearly invisible amount.
Although dieters are eating plenty of meat and getting their protein, possibly even an overload, they
are receiving very little, if any, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutrient rich foods, which are
essential to a well balanced diet ( High Protein Diets ). A study conducted on Atkins meals reveals
that, along with having too much protein and too little carbohydrates, they are unusually high in
saturated fat and cholesterol while minimal in fiber. The meals also fail to meet the recommended
daily values for several vitamins and minerals ( How does . . .? ). Therefore, with this type of diet, it is
vital to one s health that vitamins and minerals are consumed by means of supplements. There are
some nutrients, though, that cannot be acquired any other way than directly from the source ( The
Dangers . . . ). According to Ellen Coleman s article, Even Dr. Atkins . . . admits that his diet doesn t
supply enough vitamin [sic] and minerals and recommends that people take supplements.
Due to the imbalance of protein and carbohydrates, many serious side effects are linked to the weight
loss plan. Ketosis, a fasting state, is very common among high protein dieters ( The Dangers . . . ). The

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Presidentialism
1. Introduction Since the Third Wave of Democratization, numerous developing countries have
undergone democratization. However, it has been a controversial topic on which constitutional
framework, i.e. Presidentialism or Parliamentarism, would serve better in bringing political stability to
these new democracies. While there s no doubt in my mind that Parliamentarism would be a better
choice for them, I believe that it needs to be operated under several necessary conditions. I will
explain about my rationale in the following paragraphs. 2. Definition of political stability Firstly,
frequency of social unrest , which can be demonstrated by activities such as civil strife, political
violence and protests (Qassem, 2009), would be used as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is because under Presidentialism, a candidate may win the poll even if only a minority of voters pick
them as their ideal choice (Canello, 2012). That is even more likely in the new democracies in
developing countries, where there tends to have numerous major candidates in the election due to the
existence of multi party and lack of coordination between parties with similar background and
ideologies, unlike the U.S., that has a two party system with two well organized parties including the
Democrats and the Republicans, that are the political affiliations of nearly all the Americans. For
example, the first Egypt president Mohamed Morsi only won less than a one fourth of the votes in the
first round of the election in 2012 (Lynch and Stanglin, 2013). On the other hand, in Parliamentarism,
as the Prime Minister is either the leader of the majority party or coalition in the parliament, he is

Negative Ambition In Macbeth
Negative ambition fills the minds of many people across the world. However, we are going to look at
a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character from this play
is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This paper will
demonstrate that Macbeth is an accurate example of negative ambition. Ambition is the desire for
something and the determination to achieve that desire. Ambition can be classified in two different
ways. The first, positive ambition, can be summed up as the desire to get better as a human. There are
so many problems that can occur during a human s life on earth and through positive ambition one can
help themselves overcome their problems. For instance if you take the situation of an individual with
cancer. A majority of successful survivors of cancer have the desire to get back to normal health. To
accomplish this the patients must go through a lot of pain and struggle but positive ambition can help
them push through. The second classification of ambition is negative ambition. Negative ambition can
be summed up as having the desire for something and the determination to achieve it but often at the
personal loss of others. Many examples include murdering for a gain of power, lying to improve your
wealth, or stealing to improve your lifestyle. These people all have the characteristics of ambition but
are using their ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from
others. We find ambition at the heart of many scenes in the play Macbeth. In scene three we first learn
of Macbeth s desire to become king. Macbeth says this, If Chance will have me king, why, chance
may crown me Without my stir. (1,3, 143 144). In this quote, after Macbeth hears the witches
prophecy of him becoming king, Macbeth implies that he will gladly take the throne without question.
However, ambition consists of both desire and determination and Macbeth has not shown any
determination until Act two scene one when he says this I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear
it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That summons thee to heaven or to hell. ( 2,1, 62 64). In this section of

As I read through the scripture this week, God reminded me it was not His will for man to be alone
and he designed us to have companionship with others. We can see in Genesis 2:18 God never
intended for us to be alone (Zondervan, n.d.). As we read Genesis 2:18, the Creator clearly states it is
not good to be alone and He provided a solution for us; He created a suitable helpmate(Zondervan,

Even in our pursuit for education we are not alone; many of our assignments revolve around us
interacting with our professors and peers. Our families sacrifice and accept extra duties, to allow us
time to complete our studies. We are dependent on each other and God designed it that way. I believe
He designed it that way to allow us to demonstrate His love to others because we are made in His

The Great Purge And Was A Social Policy Of Stalin
Stalin is a name everyone probably has heard at some point, most likely in a history class that you
have long forgotten now. However people tend to not know that during his time as Premier of the
Soviet Union he killed more people than Hitler did. This could have been through his policies or his
Five year plans. Joseph Stalin ruled the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1953 when he died. In that 24 year
span he killed an estimated 50 million people (Haines) and this doesn t include the lives lost in WW2.
For some reason, it something that we do not learn in history; it is excluded from our history books.
This is called the Great Purge and was a social policy of Stalin, he was collecting Jewish people
though he was after opponents to his regime. Between 1934 and 1939 stalin set in a motion to have
about ⅓ of the three million communist officials purged (Freedland). These people were either sent to
a work camp or a gulag, put on trial where they were forced to plead guilty, or they were just
executed. This was a policy of his that would secure his place in the communist party, he even went as
far to have pictures of himself edited so that he wasn t in them with certain people. Stalin also sent his
son, Yakov Dzhugashvili, to the eastern front hoping he would die. He did this because Yakov was an
active opponent of his father (Evans). When he was captured the Nazi s tried ransoming him back, to
which stalin said to kill him; which is what happened. Having purged the party he could

Internet Censorship And The Internet Hackers
Chapter One
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
In our time and with the remarkable progress in the field of Internet, web sites can be considered the
purpose and the main target for the Internet hackers. The Internet hackers worked on transfer their
attacks from the well defended network layer to the more accessible Web application layer, since this
layer is one of the most important layers because that layer is used on a daily basis by people to
manage all daily business such as commercial matters in addition to other things related to their lives.
These websites offer to users a variety of services Such as, shopping services, booked travel tickets,
health care and the payment of Insurances. All of these and other services offered by the Web have
become vulnerable to attacks by Internet hackers, by stealing credit card numbers and other personal

At the present time we can say that the data exchange process is characteristic of this era, some of
these data are very important and highly secretive, and knowing this information could be important
Implications our own future like the importance of knowing the credit card Number or a password to

English 122 is my second course since returning to college after quitting almost 10 years ago. At an

these realities are the same as those faced by David Sedaris in his autobiography, Me Talk Pretty One

at a foreign school as told by the author and recognize them for what are: accounts of a bad experience
that ended in success. I will determine if the author s story has any value to the audience reading my
essay as well as personal value to me that can propel all of us to accomplish goals. My analysis will

Embracing Dream And Identity Of Hong Kong
Embracing Dream and Identity
In the 90s of the century, many important events happened between China and Hong Kong. Without
questioning, one of the most influential incidents happened during this period of time was Hong Kong
s reunion with China in July 1997; it transformed Hong Kong from a colonial dependent territory to a
Chinese administration region. The local Hong Kong people felt disoriented of their futures and many
of them came to the question of their national identities; it is because the different political and
educational system between Hong Kong and China makes the local Hong Kong people feel
differentiated from the mainland Chinese people. Since Hong Kong and China has been separated for

Many themes are depicted in these movies, and yet, the topic which has been most discussed is the
exploration of identity. I will discuss in the following of my paper on three Hong Kong movies I pick,
Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan, 1989), Her Fatal Ways (Dir. Alfred Cheung, 1990), and
Comrades, Almost a Lover Story (Dir. Peter Chan, 1997) as reference to illustrate my idea into a
deeper level. Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan, 1989), is a tale of three Chinese women
who has a different cultural background and immigrate to New York out of their distinct purposes.
Zhao Hong, starring Siqin Gaowa, plays a submissive housewife who gains her legal status in U.S.
after married to an American citizen, Thomas. Although her husband and she are able to make a
decent living in Manhattan, however, she is barely coping with strange Western ways. The other two
actresses in the leading role are Sylvia Chang and Maggie Cheung. Sylvia plays as an aspiring actress
and Maggie Cheung plays an ambitious successful business woman. These three women meet at a
diner, which Maggie owns, and their friendship forges on since then. One of the most important
themes has been portrayed in this movie is the cultural conflicts between the Western and Eastern
culture. Such differences are well represented in the relationship of Zhao Hong and her husband. No

Epicurus Vs Aristotle
What s the one thing everyone wants to achieve in life and is the ultimate end for every action people
do? Philosophers from almost every generation are trying to figure out what that is, some even
referring to it as the good . But what is the good ? Epicurus would argue that the good is simply
pleasure, honor, and glory; however, that is not the ultimate end for every action people do. According
to Aristotle, the ultimate end that every action seeks is happiness and that s the good everyone desires.
The idea of happiness being the ultimate end, is superior to Epicurus s idea of pleasure, honor, and
glory, due to the fact that all those things are intended to bring forth some form of happiness.
Therefore, happiness must be what everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hello, adolescents today I m going to authenticated that the Greeks were distinguished to the
Egyptians. I will validate this by telling you how the Greeks had more of an understanding of the
universe by telling you about their noteworthy religion, their amount of comprehension, and how
much of their culture is still around now.
First, the Greeks had a better religion than the Egyptians because they had more clear cut gods than
the Egyptians eg. they had a god for each direction of the wind who were Boreas the north, zephyrus
the west, notos the south, and euros the east. Another thing is the Greeks had more of a diversity of
gods than the Egyptians because the Greeks had over 200 unique gods, goddesses, titans, titanesses,
spirits, and monsters but the Egyptians had only about 100 or less.

Wasteness In Snow Country
Snow Country
In the novel Snow Country by Kawabata, the author uses the snow country environment in the book to
bring out the wastefulness experienced by Shimamura in various ways. This is best seen in instances
when Shimamura is able to observe and reflect on activities going on around him while he is engaged
in his surroundings and environment. Komako, an essential part of Shimamura s snow country

and murder and insanity are built into the human condition and likely always will be you know there

the gazelle has a right to use its hooves and horns to protect itself from the predator but there are
people all around the country who deny that same right to self defense to other human beings such
people seem to think that the way to stop the leopard is to cut the horns off the gazelle, that by
somehow making it easier the predator the predator will simply go away my friends this is insane.
When you make it easier for the predator you get more predators. So lets start with the so called
assault weapons more properly known as semi automatic rifles, in 2011 the total firearm murders

society has evolved, social entrepreneurship has also evolved becoming more focused on solving
problems rather than merely accumulating income. For years and years America has been a consumer

ambition. Corporate drones have influenced society for centuries, however because of the rise of

The Relationship Between Faith And Reason In Pope John...
Pope John Paul II found it important enough to talk about the relationship between faith and reason in
his encyclical Fides et Ratio. An encyclical is a letter that is sent to all of the bishops of the Roman
Catholic Church and addresses a problem, or important topic that the pope believes needs to be
discussed. In Fides et Ratio, Pope John Paul II really emphasizes the importance of the relationship
between faith and reason and how it has to do with the trust and faith put in God. This encyclical
written in 1998 was meant for all of the members of the Catholic Church to understand and begin
thinking about the big questions that define their faith, as well as to once again be able to reason with
their faith. If there was never a questioning of faith, there would be no reason for the followers of the
Catholic Church to continue to follow a man that we accept as our Lord. Faith and reason go hand in
hand just like identity and relevance. Without one, you cannot have the other and still achieve full
meaning. It is possible to have only faith and just live a life based on faith alone. It is also possible to
only reason through everything. However, when dealing with religion, Pope John Paul II makes it a
point to show the followers if Christ that they need to have an equal balance of both faith and reason
in order to attempt to comprehend who Jesus Christ the Son of God was, who in fact God is, and have
the knowledge to grow and understand the Roman Catholic beliefs. According to

1. Demographic force
Job catalogue and income aspects are the key focuses of Airasia for targeting the segmentation(Kotler
et al, 2010). Most the customers of Airasia are students and low or middle class income people.
Students and low incomes people are likely to concern more about fare price, while middle income
people want a balance between price and quality. Eventually, Asia is becoming the potential market of
the world and this creates more opportunities for traveling and carrier services especially in Asia
Pacific region.
2. Geographic force
Choosing and activating flight destinations of an airline is critically important, as it will affect the
productive of market scale and business expanding trend (Kotler et al, 2010). For Airasia, the current
cities and countries that it is mostly operating are the big cities in Asia and no local flight in one
destination country. This tactic can achieve the faster expanding market goal (AirAsia Annual Report,
2010).
3. Culture force
The customers consumption propensities are differential as national differences (Jones Miskell, 2007)
which mean of differences in culture. However, Asia has tried to build up a mixture of cultures and to
give different experiences to its customers. In general, Asia cultures prefers to spend less money and
save more, thus spending too expensive flight ticket for traveling is still not an absolute choice for all

The Extermination Of The Jews
You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization
without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large (Thomas Sowell). In October of 1939,
the first ghetto was established in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland. This government enforced system
developed strategies to segregate minorities from the rest of civilization, with the ambition of
achieving a utopian society. The Nazi ghettos began to focus on the extermination of the Jews rather
than the isolation. During the year 1941, Hitler s Final Solution was a plan created to quickly
annihilate the entire Jewish population. As World War II gradually came to an end, the evolution of
ghettos had evolved into a slang term describing the minority filled districts pressured by society. An
NPR article concludes, Ghetto, in slang usage, has entirely lost the sense of forced segregation the
meaning it held for centuries. In a rapid about face, it s become an indictment of individual choices (
Segregated From Its History, How Ghetto Lost Its Meaning). The operation of ghettos was once
initiated through the force of Nazi and SS officers for the support and development of the Aryan race.
As economic, social, and personal aspirations changed, ghettos have developed into communities with
an influx of poverty and disadvantage. The impact of society s standards allows the growth and
continuation of indirect segregation throughout current ghettos.

Romeo And Juliet By Baz Luhrmann Essay
Baz Luhrmann adaptation of William Shakespeare s Romeo Juliet is modernised to convey the
meaning of the original play more appealing to today s audience. He keeps the Shakespearian
language but changes the props, clothing, setting and music. By using these different techniques he
makes the movie effective to the audience. The prologue directed by Baz Luhrmann is a futuristic
interpretation of Shakespeare s 16th century play. The prologue shows the tv newsreader describing
the rivalry in Verona Beach and the deadly feud between Romeo s Montague family and the Capulet
family of Juliet. Baz Luhrmann uses the newsreader as the narrator compared to Shakespeare s play.
He uses the prologue to locate the action in the modern fictional Verona Beach USA, and to introduce
the feuding families. The news reporter is reading Shakespeare s original text and tells the events that
will lead to the tragic deaths of the star crossed lovers . Although Baz Luhrmann s prologue is

Mrs Cherry Owen is always laughing at her husband. She never minds him being drunk all the time,
and talks about the silly things he does when he comes home from the pub:
Remember last night? In you reeled my boy, as drunk as a deacon .
She is a very optimistic and cheerful woman. When Mr Cherry Own says that she s got two husbands,
one drunk, and one sober , Mrs Cherry Owen simply replies:

Laura Wingfield Glass Menagerie
The Glass Menagerie is a play, which takes place in St. Louis, Missouri. The main characters are Tom
Wingfield, Amanda Wingfield, Tom s mother, Laura Wingfield, Tom s older sister, and Jim O Conner,
Laura s gentleman caller. Laura Wingfield owns and collects a glass menagerie that is very symbolic
throughout the play. A glass menagerie is a collection of animals that are kept to be trained or
exhibited. Laura takes pride in her glass menagerie. Laura s glass menagerie is an escape to her own
little world. Laura Wingfield has a disability with her leg; one leg is shorter than the other. This defect
has separated her from society and makes her feel isolated and unaccepted. The defect makes it hard
for her to have self confidence. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was very symbolic because a unicorn is very unique and Laura is very unique and lives in her
own world. When the horn fell off of the unicorn it became less exotic and more usual, just like how
Jim had momentarily brought Laura into a world of reality. Towards the end of the play the glass
menagerie still symbolizes Laura. The symbolism reflects upon the changes of circumstances and
Laura s heart. Laura did not even want a gentleman caller, but when Jim came her life was changed
forever. Before Jim came Laura could escape into her own world in her glass menagerie. Since Jim
left she cannot escape anymore because she was brought into reality. She gave her unicorn to Jim, so
whenever she looks at her glass menagerie and sees that the unicorn is missing, Laura will think of
Jim. In that way, the glass menagerie can also symbolize escape. The title is named after Laura s
collection because it is the main symbol throughout the play. This title is appropriate because it
symbolizes Laura s fragility and

Adolf Hitler s Attempt To Kill Jews
Adolf Hitler was a cruel human being. Hitler had killed a lot of Jewish people during his whole rule.
Hitler would make the Jews feel as bad as he could in any way he possibly could. He would take away
their homes and separate them from their family.
During the 1920 s Hitler s party grew a lot. On the night of November 8, the Nazi used big gathering
at a beer hall to launch an attack. The Nazis used a right facing swastika as their symbol and the red
and black colors were to represent blood and soil. The army was the last attempt to try and stop them.
It wasn t until the year 1944 that a group of officers opposed to the Nazi regime for an attempt to kill
Hitler. By 1945, the Nazi party, and Nazi state were inseparable. Their most important member either
left or killed themselves.
The Nazis and Hitler almost destroyed the entire Jewish race. Hitler started by boycotting ... Show

Hundreds of thousands of Jews also died fighting with allied armies. One operation started it all. It
happened in the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941. After hearing the shooting Hews in many sites in
Vilna were the first to understand the true objective of the Nazis: to kill all Jews. Personally I felt
sorry for all this suffering that they had to go through. I wish that more Jews had fought for
themselves.
During the era of the holocaust, many things started happening. First of all the Jewish resistance began
to be killed. Some Jews escaped to join underground movement against Germans. The resistance
groups were mostly made of the younger males and females. They stole or bought guns from the
Germans whenever and wherever it was possible. In Poland, they gather in the forest and became
partisan fighters, and only came out when needed. I think that it was good for the Jews to form a
resistance group. They didn t deserve to die just because they weren t pure Aryans just like Hitler had

  • 2. Why Does Scout Admire Miss Maudie To Kill Mockingbird by Harper Lee Summer Homework Questions By Jasmine Kosovrasti 1) Scout admires Miss Maudie due to her kindness, honesty, patience, and love towards Jem, Dill, and Scout. She also admires Miss Maudie because no matter what life throws at her, for example her house burning down, Miss Maudie tries to look at the bright side of things. Miss Maudie takes others well being before her own. 2) Atticus accepted the job to defend Tom Robinson because he believes everyone is equal. That just because Tom Robinson is a man of color, that is no reason to refuse to defend him. Atticus values equality and justice and he thought now would be a good opportunity to display the importance of such values to his children. 3) Scout Fights with Ciel Jacobs and Francis because she wanted to defend her father, Atticus. The boys called her father a Nigger lover and hearing this insult towards her beloved father, who she knows is incapable of being anything but a fair a kind man, makes her want to fight back. 4) Aunt Alexandra disapproved of Scout because she believed Scout was too much of a tomboy. Aunt Alexandra thought Scout needed to begin acting like a lady and she expresses these thoughts to both Scout and Atticus. 5) Uncle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Position Paper on Stephen Covey Position Paper on Stephen Covey s, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People MG 401 Senior Seminar in Management Introduction In 1989, Stephen Covey s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People started a landmark revolution in how we think about time and life management. In this book, Covey presents seven principles for developing effectiveness in our private and public lives. By developing these habits, one moves from being dependent on other people to being and acting independently. Then we learn how to move to the more advanced state of interdependence and successful Cooperation. As a part of the seven habits, Covey introduced important and powerful techniques of time management under the habit of Put First Things First. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people. Covey s purpose in detailing the seven habits is to help people improve themselves. The seven habits are woven into a diagram that shows the working of all seven habits in communion. When viewing the diagram, one is reminded of Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into thirteen pieces, with the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing the picture as a whole, as well as seeing the development from dependence to independence to interdependence. The first three habits, which lead to independence, a private victory, lead to the final four steps, which include public victory. My favorite quote of the book is It is nobler to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. (Page 201). My job places me in a position of leadership over other leaders. Often I see these leaders locked into a limited vision when faced with a difficult situation. They see only a win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently and think about the book s section on win/win and seeing outside the box. The first habit talks about being proactive; being proactive is the foundation of the entire seven habits paradigm. In a sense, all the other habits are types of being proactive. This entails a realization that you are a person who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Montezuma Conquest Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico A Historical Book Review The historical narrative, Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico by Hugh Thomas, is a brilliant and meticulously detailed account of the clash between empires. It gives one a multi sided perspective of all the parties involved during this period, not just of the Europeans. The clash between Cortes and the Mexica, the birth of a new nation and the blatant truth brought on by meticulous research and scripture are portrayed through this narrative. Conquest begins, in detail, with the Aztecs or Mexica as they called themselves. The word Aztec was not used during the sixteenth century, not even by Cortes. It gained its popularity from Fransisco Clavijero and later used by Prescott (Thomas, 1993, p xix). The main focus of this civilization outlined their leadership as well as military decisions. The Mexica dominated surrounding civilizations along the Mexican valley for material gain, expansion and for trade. Their social classes, as well as standards, culture, and way of life, was scripted in this cheater. One thing that caught my attention was the scrupulously detailed account of human sacrifice and religion that played out in this chapter the more that one read in. The Mexica worshipped many gods and sacrificed many humans to their gods to bring about rain, health, prosperity and agricultural abundance. The Mexica s ritualistic sacrifices were one of the things that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Personal Note On Self Love And Confidence When I was younger I didn t know too much about self love and what it really meant. For as long as I could remember I was always the heavier set girl with the gap. I was the funny girl, the friend to all the guys. I was raised by my dad and brother, now don t get me wrong my mother was in my life but she missed my first homecoming , my first crush , even my first period. I did not realize until I was a little older how much not having a woman around would and could even affect me.Without her being there I didn t know how to value myself. Now at 23 I am just starting to get a grasp on what self love and confidence is. I would say that I really started to struggle with self confidence when I got to high school. When I was in middle school, I had a blast, but once I entered high school everything changed. I went into it thinking these friendships would last forever. Boy, was I wrong. I thought these years turn those friendships I had into the sisters I never had. All it did was give me false ideas of self esteem and depression. I would go to school daily and walk down the hall with some of the prettiest, most popular girls and guys of each grade, wishing I was them. High school made me feel like because I wasn t skinny with a perfect smile and the nicest clothes I wasn t pretty. Guys would always go for my friends who were smaller than me , didn t have a gap , or wild hair. While in high school I begin to develop insecurities about my weight and smile.I started to let ... Buena Vista Social Club Essay In Wim Wender s Buena Vista Social Club, a sense provoking landscape is created through sounds and visuals of both Havana and the collaborative musical effort of the members of Buena Vista Social Club. Although we have examined many examples of landscapes through photographs and paintings, the documentary offers a unique observance of landscape through its incorporation of moving images and the sounds that accompany them. This is especially important when analyzing this film s landscape, as the music embodies not only the main achievement of the group, but of the sounds of Havana and its past. Buena Vista Social Club offers an interesting perspective on how Havana s landscape has crumbled, changed and disappeared, only to be reconstituted through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the entire film, the unknown audience follows along with the story of the Buena Vista Social Club through a concert that Brian Davis would describe as a contact zone, which is a social place where cultures meet, clash, and grapple with each other (Davis 84). In this interaction the Buena Vista Social Club serves as the center, while the audience serves as the periphery that is receiving ideas, images, and materials from the center through the lyrics of the song and music being played by the instruments (Davis 83). Most of the songs that Buena Vista Social Club perform are centered around the day to day struggles and celebrations of the people of Havana, whether that be a city dweller or a campesino. The performance by the group is thus an auditory landscape of the true lifestyle of the Havana natives and it is inherently an exhibit to the outsider of the crumbled landscape of 1950s Havana that was reconstructed through the Buena Vista Social Club musical project. Although the focus is primarily on the Buena Vista Social Club, the audience plays its part in the landscape of this contact zone by expressing their approval and the excitement brought about by the performance of the music group through the cheers and applause that can be heard throughout the ... • 10. How Does Aristotle Explain Eudaimonia What constitutes a good life ? Aristotle sought the answer to this question. Two books, Nicomachean ethics and Eudemuan ethics, were dedicated to discovering what a good life is. He reached the conclusion that when someone acts, they are always striving towards some final goal. So how did Aristotle explain eudaimonia or perfect happiness? Eudaimonia is the ultimate good we strive towards, that requires no further questioning. What he means by no further questioning is this. Something that is the final good you want to acquire from your work. Aristotle looked over several possible answers before coming to his conclusion. First there is honor. But, we see that honor is just another tool to reach ultimate fulfillment. Likewise, pleasure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I got there, I wondered what I had gotten myself into as the hotel itself looked to need a little bit of work. Once inside, the place warmed up a little bit, though. I decided that once I traveled all the way over there, I had to check out what their poker room was really like. The Tropicana poker room itself leaves a lot to be desired, but it is probably better than the overall hotel. The room is very small and appears to be pretty plain. Often confused with that other famous Bill, Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok was a lawman and a gambler and a rambler and I guess he always will be. Hickok had all the attributes required for a Wild West legend and then some some. Unlike Wyatt Earp, Wild Bill Hickok had courage to go along with his good looks and skill with a gun. (In fact, Earp didn t even possess that, really; Wyatt Earp s only real talent with a revolver lay in sneaking up behind his victims and cowardly cold cocking them.) By contrast, Wild Bill s long yellow locks, penetrating eyes and heroism as an Army scout are not dependent upon highly fictional Hollywood recreations of factual events in the way that pitiful Wyatt Earp was. Wild Bill also holds a place in gambling legend; when you bet on a poker hand made up of two Aces and two Eights, what you ve got there pardner is what is known as the Dead Man s Hand. Why? Because that is final deck that Wild Bill ever played; the hand he was holding when a young man named Jack McCall sauntered into the saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota where Wild Bill sat playing cards. Wild Bill Hickok normally made a habit verging on obsession of never sitting anywhere where his vision couldn t take in a panoramic view of everything in sight. There was a good reason for that and a bad result the one time he lapsed. Jack McCall calmly walked up behind Wild Bill and shot him point blank in the back of the head not terribly long after America had celebrated her first 100 years of existence. Such was Wild Bill s ferocious reputation that McCall s explanation for his Earp level cowardice was confined to these immortal words: I didn t want to commit suicide. Treatment of schizophrenic disorders involves taking drugs that are meant to decrease dopamine amounts in the brain and to block dopamine receptors (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are characteristic of a person s inability to adapt or be flexible to their environment through their way of thinking and behavior. People with personality disorders include unconventional people, as well as people who kill in cold blood serial killers for example (Morris and Maisto, 2002). A type of personality disorder is paranoid personality disorder for which the person suffering from this cannot trust anyone and is highly suspicious all the time. Most people with this disorder believe themselves to be sensible and objective, but in reality they are argumentative, devious, secretive, and unable to take the blame for their wrong doing (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are thought to be aided by family, as well as community influences. For example, a child who feels rejected or unwanted by a family member(s) will act out, taking his or her aggressions out in an unacceptable manner such as defying rules and regulations at school or within the community (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Sexual disorders are classified into three main groups paraphilias, sexual dysfunction, and gender identity disorders. Abstract The aim of this laboratory experiment was to investigate the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration on the rate at which oxygen is produced when the volume and temperature of 50% catalase and volume of hydrogen peroxide solution are kept constant. It was expected that if the concentration of hydrogen peroxide increased, then the production rate of oxygen gas would also increase until the enzyme became saturated, following the Michaelis Menten relationship. The first measurement of O2 produced was recorded at 10 seconds, however by this time the reaction had already completed (Figure 10), meaning the exact finishing point (between 1 10 seconds) of the reaction was unknown. This then disturbs the calculation of the rate of O2 production. • 24. Negative Ambition In Macbeth Negative ambition fills the minds of many people across the world. However, we are going to look at a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character from this play is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This paper will demonstrate that Macbeth is an accurate example of negative ambition. Ambition is the desire for something and the determination to achieve that desire. Ambition can be classified in two different ways. The first, positive ambition, can be summed up as the desire to get better as a human. There are so many problems that can occur during a human s life on earth and through positive ambition one can help themselves overcome their problems. For instance if you take the situation of an individual with cancer. A majority of successful survivors of cancer have the desire to get back to normal health. To accomplish this the patients must go through a lot of pain and struggle but positive ambition can help them push through. The second classification of ambition is negative ambition. Negative ambition can be summed up as having the desire for something and the determination to achieve it but often at the personal loss of others. Many examples include murdering for a gain of power, lying to improve your wealth, or stealing to improve your lifestyle. These people all have the characteristics of ambition but are using their ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from others. We find ambition at the heart of many scenes in the play Macbeth. In scene three we first learn of Macbeth s desire to become king. Macbeth says this, If Chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me Without my stir. (1,3, 143 144). In this quote, after Macbeth hears the witches prophecy of him becoming king, Macbeth implies that he will gladly take the throne without question. However, ambition consists of both desire and determination and Macbeth has not shown any determination until Act two scene one when he says this I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That summons thee to heaven or to hell. ( 2,1, 62 64). In this section of Macbeth s soliloquy, Macbeth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea of happiness being the ultimate end, is superior to Epicurus s idea of pleasure, honor, and glory, due to the fact that all those things are intended to bring forth some form of happiness. I will validate this by telling you how the Greeks had more of an understanding of the universe by telling you about their noteworthy religion, their amount of comprehension, and how much of their culture is still around now. First, the Greeks had a better religion than the Egyptians because they had more clear cut gods than the Egyptians eg. they had a god for each direction of the wind who were Boreas the north, zephyrus the west, notos the south, and euros the east. Another thing is the Greeks had more of a diversity of gods than the Egyptians because the Greeks had over 200 unique gods, goddesses, titans, titanesses, spirits, and monsters but the Egyptians had only about 100 or less. ... The Pros And Cons Of Gun Shootings The latest mass shootings in aurora, colorado and newtown connecticut leave us all liberal and conservative, republican and democrat appalled and disgusted at the carnage now some people want to place the blame for this horror on things like 30 round magazines or semi automatic rifles. we want to blame something anything we can control, but what we really want to ban is violence and murder and insanity and we dont talk about that though because deep in our hearts each of us knows that violence and murder and insanity are built into the human condition and likely always will be you know there are 2 kinds of animals in this world, no one watches a leopard chase down a gazelle and denies that the gazelle has a right to use its hooves and horns to protect itself from the predator but there are people all around the country who deny that same right to self defense to other human beings such people seem to think that the way to stop the leopard is to cut the horns off the gazelle, that by somehow making it easier the predator the predator will simply go away my friends this is insane. When you make it easier for the predator you get more predators. So lets start with the so called assault weapons more properly known as semi automatic rifles, in 2011 the total firearm murders came to 8,583 according to the FBI. Now during that time the total murders committed by rifles alright, not just semi automatic rifles, were 323 that s 3 percent of all murders hammers and clubs kill half ... As they raise awareness for positive social changes through non profit businesses and government aid, the time is certainly right for change to social problems. Several governments and philanthropies have fallen short to address these problems, but it has been the rise of social entrepreneurs who have decided to answer back with change. J. Gregory Dees an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Director of Duke s Fuqua School of Business Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship says, social entrepreneurship as any form of social entrepreneurship that is worth promoting broadly must be about establishing new and better ways to improve the world. Social entrepreneurs implement innovative programs, organizational structures, or resource strategies that increase their chances of achieving deep, broad, lasting, and cost effective social impact. In early years, entrepreneurship has seen great success by those who perceived a need. For example, Susan B. Anthony, who was a prominent women s right activist in the 19th century initiated the women s suffrage movement. Anthony developed innovative solutions to social problems and fought for women s rights in the United States. • 36. The Relationship Between Faith And Reason In Pope John... Pope John Paul II found it important enough to talk about the relationship between faith and reason in his encyclical Fides et Ratio. An encyclical is a letter that is sent to all of the bishops of the Roman Catholic Church and addresses a problem, or important topic that the pope believes needs to be discussed. In Fides et Ratio, Pope John Paul II really emphasizes the importance of the relationship between faith and reason and how it has to do with the trust and faith put in God. This encyclical written in 1998 was meant for all of the members of the Catholic Church to understand and begin thinking about the big questions that define their faith, as well as to once again be able to reason with their faith. If there was never a questioning of faith, there would be no reason for the followers of the Catholic Church to continue to follow a man that we accept as our Lord. Faith and reason go hand in hand just like identity and relevance. Without one, you cannot have the other and still achieve full meaning. It is possible to have only faith and just live a life based on faith alone. It is also possible to only reason through everything. However, when dealing with religion, Pope John Paul II makes it a point to show the followers if Christ that they need to have an equal balance of both faith and reason in order to attempt to comprehend who Jesus Christ the Son of God was, who in fact God is, and have the knowledge to grow and understand the Roman Catholic beliefs. • 39. The Extermination Of The Jews You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large (Thomas Sowell). In October of 1939, the first ghetto was established in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland. This government enforced system developed strategies to segregate minorities from the rest of civilization, with the ambition of achieving a utopian society. The Nazi ghettos began to focus on the extermination of the Jews rather than the isolation. During the year 1941, Hitler s Final Solution was a plan created to quickly annihilate the entire Jewish population. As World War II gradually came to an end, the evolution of ghettos had evolved into a slang term describing the minority filled districts pressured by society. An NPR article concludes, Ghetto, in slang usage, has entirely lost the sense of forced segregation the meaning it held for centuries. In a rapid about face, it s become an indictment of individual choices ( Segregated From Its History, How Ghetto Lost Its Meaning). The operation of ghettos was once initiated through the force of Nazi and SS officers for the support and development of the Aryan race. As economic, social, and personal aspirations changed, ghettos have developed into communities with an influx of poverty and disadvantage. The impact of society s standards allows the growth and continuation of indirect segregation throughout current ghettos. In 1933, after his gradual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
