Frankenstein vs Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde
Samantha Fajardo
Frankenstein Comparative Essay Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley, is a novel about a creature
that is produced by Victor Frankenstein, as a result of his desire to discover the secret of life. Dr.
Frankenstein founded this secret by animating dead flesh and stitching human corpses together to
create a superhuman. As a reader, one realizes the consequences of Victor s discoveries through series
of unfortunate events that occur in the novel. The story begins with four letters which help introduce
the story from Walton s perspective as he meets Victor and learns the truth and tragedy behind Dr.
Frankenstein. However, throughout the novel, letters are sent from Elizabeth and Alphonse, which
further develop the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Character development determines what ways characters affect the progress of the plot; therefore in
both novels, one can identify events that begin to answer each novel s mysteries. In Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde, Lanyon receives a registered letter from Henry Jekyll, that presents a list of duties he wishes
Lanyon can do in his favor. He asks if he can go to his drawer in his lab, to pick up items that are to be
given to a man, that would visit Utterson s dwelling that same evening. The items included salt, a vial
of blood, and liquor. That evening Edward Hyde, the strange looking man, arrived and used the items
Utterson had picked up. In the next moment, it was no longer the strange man that stood before
Utterson, but Henry Jekyll. As a reader, this discovery explains that Jekyll took a special potion, which
changed his identity of Mr. Hyde to Dr. Jekyll. This also explains that the murderer of Sir Danvers
Carew was Jekyll in Hyde s body. Lanyon states, The creature who crept into my house that night was,
on Jekyll s own confession, known by the name of Hyde and hunted for in every corner of the land as
the murderer of Carew. (Stevenson, Page 59) This quotation signifies the verification of the murderer,
as well explains why the letters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were identical. This further develops the
plot, as characters are developed which help justify the mystery in the novel. Elizabeth s letter written
to Victor Frankenstein, expresses

My Writing As An Inquiry
I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and other skills during my semester in Writing as an
inquiry . Not only were my writing skills improved, my understanding of rhetoric increased as well.
This was done through teacher instruction, class participation, and assignments. Up to this point, I
completed four projects in the semester. Each project being very different and improving my writing,
rhetoric, communication skills, and testing my creativity. The first project that was assigned in the
class was a Learning Narrative. The goal of this assignment was to write about a profound learning
moment that occurred in my life. Another goal of this assignment was to expand my knowledge on
rhetoric. This assignment was when I was first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lightbulb clicked and I decided to use Lifetime gym as my culture and a dumbbell as my artifact.
The next step of this project was to compare my culture and artifact with another culture. The biggest
obstacle I faced was having to be creative and think about how other people and cultures may view the
dumbbell. It was difficult to pick just one certain group and try to hypothesis how they may view the
dumbbell. I chose to think of how people of low income and countries in poverty may view the
dumbbell. I hypothesized they most likely do not have access to the dumbbell. Therefore, not knowing
what it is, or having to use other heavy objects as a substitute for a dumbbell. This project was very
interesting and eye opening. An object like a dumbbell, which I have very easy access to, is not easily
accessible for everyone.
Without this project, I would not have thought of a broader culture. It makes me grateful to be able to
have such easy access to a dumbbell, which others in countries in poverty may not have the luxury of.
I reached the goals of this assignment. I was able to think of a specific artifact and describe it in
specific detail. I then thought of a few broader cultures and was able to compare a specific culture to
mine.
Project three was the remix project. The goals of this project were to be able to take writing and turn it
into a visual. In a group with two other people, we would use the phrase A

St. John s Marriage
In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, the main protagonist, Jane, often avoids temptations that she faces
and uses her strong will and independence to avoid situations that she knows will end badly for her in
the long run. These situations are most usually involving a man, some form of love (or lacking
thereof), and a possible marriage. The final time she is asked to be wed, Jane accepts and finally does
settle down as a married woman, but before then, she runs from a marriage on her wedding day, and
refuses one more before she is engaged. This one that she refuses is the one requested by St. John
Rivers, a man working in a ministry whom takes Jane in and cares for her, with his two sisters, in her
time of need. Jane and St. John have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through all of her suffering and misery, she does end up being happy, living with the man that she
loves, and has loved, all along. This man is not St. John. There are multiple reasons why Jane declines
John s request. First of all, she finds it horrific that he does not actually love her. For once in these
novels, marriage isn t actually about wealth; but of course, there is also a lacking of affection, in this
case. John sees it fit that Jane marry him because she would make a great missionary wife...and that is
all. Jane also knows that St. John would have the motive to have sexual relations with her, because
that s what husbands and wives do, even if there is no warm feeling involved at all. Another reason for
Jane s declining is because marriage to St. John would mean sacrificing passion and love for reason
and principle. At one point, St. John invites Jane to come to India with him, for six weeks, as a
missionary and his wife. In doing this, John explains, she would have the chance to make a more
meaningful contribution to society than she would as a housewife (or, in other words, than she would
with anyone else). While this is an interesting offer, living with St. John would mean living without
any love at all. Jane would constantly be lonely, and would have to neglect her own needs of love and
emotional support. Her consideration of St. John s proposal

The American Revolution And The War Of Independence
The American Revolution, also known as the U.S. War of Independence, goes back to 1765 1783. One
of the major effects of the American Revolution was that the colonies became recognized as
independent. It was now separated from Great Britain. France joined in and became our allies and
helped the colonies in 1778. Since France joined the war, they turned a civil war into an international
war. There were a lot of causes that led up to the beginning and the end of the war.

After the Boston Massacre a group of colonial delegates met in Philadelphia in September 1774 to
give their opinion to the delegates against the British Rule. The delegates were George Washington of
Virginia, John and Samuel Adams of Massachusetts, Patrick Henry of Virginia and John Jay of New
York. The meeting was called the Continental Congress. That meeting wasn t very successful of
getting their independence. So they had another meeting called the Second Continental Congress.
The Second Continental Congress was also held in Pennsylvania. It was more successful, up until
Andrew Jackson. With three new additions Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Washington. On
June 7, the first major revolutionary war, known as the Battle of Bunker Hill.Which ended in British

By June 1776, with the Revolutionary War was moving fast, a lot of the colonists had come to favor
and want independence from Britain. On July 4, the Continental Congress voted to adopt the
Declaration of Independence. That same month Britain decided to send 34,000 more troops to New

Analysis Of Squatters Take On Developers By Benjamin Shors
Many elements influence the implications and receptions of all texts, regardless of the text s media
type. The exact same idea presents itself when comparing the two provided works, an advertisement
for Cruises with the Great White Fleet and an article titled Squatters Take on Developers by Benjamin
Shors. Both of the pieces are only properly juxtaposed upon analyzation of their respective contexts,
intended audiences, uses of language, and structures.
Context in regards to literary works can best be described as the economic, political, and social
situation that was present upon creation of the piece. The advertisement does not explicitly say when it
was created, however, it is highly likely that it was produced in the mid 20th century ... Show more

In the top left corner the piece reads, only first class passengers carried . While this could simply
indicate that the cruise liner treats all passengers equally, it is much more probable that the words
serve as a means to draw their intended audience, the exuberantly wealthy, in with the promise of an
untainted paradise. The article, however, appeared in the newspaper, The Miami Herald. This implies
that it was destined for a much larger audience, one that spans a more diverse, modern, and inquisitive
audience. Similarly, the fact that Shors published the article in Miami suggests that his reading
population will be more sympathetic to the suffering of Panamanians in the articles, as a large portion
of Floridians are Hispanic in ethnicity.
Despite the vastly different intentions of the two works, they do have some similar traits, especially in
regards to their uses of language. Both pieces share emotionally charged language that pushes forth
their own agendas. As to be expected, though, these similarities achieve entirely different results. The
advertisement relies on overly positive and flowery language to draw the audience in. Words like
delightful , excellence , and noteworthy highlight this. While the article does the same thing, it uses
the language to force the reader into a downcast state, attempting to get them to pity the victims of
American capitalism abroad. In this case, Shors uses negatively charged words: scavenged , rough ,

Diary Entry Of Survival By Joseph Ooocia
Survival By, Joseph Capoocia Day 1: I ll tell you how the tragedy happened. It all started on a Lovely
day. We all were going to move to Japan on the island of Okinawa. I don t know why we took a 15 day
cruise to an island over 1,000 miles away. We were told to pack everything our hats, pets, sun block,
money, phones, and even leaf blowers. Day 2: For some reason we hit an under sea volcano at full
speed. and were told to stay close and raid the buffet. Next with our mouths full and our bags packed
we grabbed our pets and jumped on a lifeboat. We were first to leave and we got further than anybody
else. That night we heard a creaking noise under water. It turns out to be a Sperm Whale then it
jumped up and ate everybody else. Day 3: Then drifting with a year s supply of food, we were told to
stay positive and play DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS WHOOOOOOOOOO! I of course was a Cleric

Prepaid Pay Cards
Pay cards are a good way to insure all employees get their pay at the same time and it is faster than a
paper check. Reliability is key when delivering payroll funds. It is easier to manage money with a card
than if it is all cash in hand. It also cuts out the need for a bank if employees do not have one or wish
to have one. It is a green option because it is paperless. This paperless method can save employers a
lot of money. It also saves employees money because they don t ever need to use expensive check

Odysseus Heroic Qualities
A man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities is the
dictionary definition of a hero, but the qualities that make one a hero can differ drastically. In the
Odyssey, Odysseus plays the role of the heroic character. He is brave, able to overcome fear,
intelligent, cunning, and much more. Many characters in the Iliad could be perceived as the hero.
Personally, I think it was Patrocolus who took on that role, who was willing to sacrifice himself for the
better of his people. Heroes in the modern day are everywhere, but with much less recognition than
those in the Odyssey and Iliad. In addition to that, they don t have to take a 10 year journey facing sea
monsters and cyclops just to get home to be considered a hero. ... Show more content on

Some may argue that he isn t a hero at all, but I think that his heroic qualities, like bravery and
honesty, outweigh his not so heroic ones. Odysseus is brave because of the way he overcame a fear of
his for the benefit of his crew. When Odysseus and his crew landed on the island of Circe, she turned
Odysseus crew into swine, or pigs. Odysseus eventually persuades her to turn his crew back into men;
but when she does so, they were under a trance that she would only diminish if Odysseus went to the
Underworld. Odysseus was terrified, to say the least, but he chose to face his fear for the welfare of
his crew. This also made Odysseus selfless, which is a very important characteristic of a

Creative Free-Play In A Child s Life
There is much controversy about what type of play is more important in a child s life. Some believe
creative free play is more important and others argue it is more important for children to participate in
organized activities. Experts provide excellent reasoning on both subjects. As a mother, I think it s
imporant to have a good balance of both free play and organized activities. Through creative free play,
children are able to establish independence and have the freedom to express themselves. It is
important for children to put themselves in others shoes , so to speak, and by pretending to be
someone or something else through role play, they develop understanding the needs and values of
others. They learn to entertain themselves

Traumatic Bonding
There is an often argued debate among people throughout the world concerning arranged marriages
versus marrying for love. The argument against arranged marriages is often that the two people
marrying do not love one another, and so they may spend their entire lives in unhappiness.
Unhappiness, though, can come from any relationship, free will or not, and so is the case with
traumatic bonding. How can two people with no reasonable compatibility maintain a relationship for
any amount of time? A study by Hatfield and Rapson (1996) showed that an untold number of
husbands receive physical abuse from their wives...as well as incidences of stalking and cases of
clinical depression and suicide are commonly associated with romantic attraction... (Fisher ... Show

Abusers may feel attachment for their victims, and the victims may feel attachment to their abusers.
According to Bowlby s attachment theory, if the victims were abused or made to act as caregivers as
children, they may be more inclined to seek an abusive relationship. I hypothesize that these two
situations are connected. Traumatic bonding victims feel an attachment for their abusers due to some
dysfunction in their childhood relationships with their caregivers, and that relationship brings about
the passive defensive behavior seen within their traumatic relationships. Observational data on
humans support the hypothesis that the neural correlates of attachment are distinct from those of the
sex drive and those of attraction (Fisher 1998). So, the attachment felt within a traumatic bond is not
necessarily driven by attraction or sex drive, meaning that genuine attachment in a traumatic bond is
possible, and though genuine attachment is possible, behaviors of submission appear to combat the
abuse. Though the victim is attached to his or her abuser, behaviors are enacted to prevent further
abuse and make the relationship bearable. I will use previous research in behavior and
neuropsychology to support my

Similarities And Differences When Comparing Trucks
There are many different styles of vehicles, such as vans, SUVs, cars, and trucks. My favorite vehicle
type is a truck. Trucks and cars have some similarities and differences. The three main categories
when comparing cars and trucks are off road use, passenger capacity, and gas mileage. Firstly,
engineers build trucks for highway and off road use. A truck can go where a car cannot. Trucks have
more clearance, meaning they can run over trees, dirt, mud, etc. without the bottom scraping the
ground. Cars do not have much clearance for off road. Secondly, one of the similarities are the number
of passengers you can carry. There are two door trucks and cars. Then there are four door trucks and
cars. It all depends on what you want and what you

Life and Work of John Bowlby
Bowlby was born in London to an upper middle class family. He was the fourth of six children and
was brought up by a nanny in the British fashion of his class at that time. His father, Sir Anthony
Bowlby, first Baronet, was surgeon to the King s Household, with a tragic history: at age five, Sir
Anthony s own father (John s grandfather) was killed while serving as a war correspondent in the
Opium Wars.
Normally, Bowlby saw his mother only one hour a day after teatime, though during the summer she
was more available. Like many other mothers of her social class, she considered that parental attention
and affection would lead to dangerous spoiling of the children. Bowlby was lucky in that the nanny in
his family was present throughout his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He focused on how attachment difficulties were transmitted from one generation to the next. In his
development of attachment theory he propounded the idea that attachment behaviour was essentially
an evolutionary survival strategy for protecting the infant from predators. Mary Ainsworth, a student
of Bowlby s, further extended and tested his ideas, and in fact played the primary role in suggesting
that several attachment styles existed. The three most important experiences for Bowlby s future work
and the development of attachment theory were his work with:
Maladapted and delinquent children.
James Robertson (in 1952) in making the documentary film A Two Year Old Goes to the Hospital,
which was one of the films about young children in brief separation . The documentary illustrated the
impact of loss and suffering experienced by young children separated from their primary caretakers.
This film was instrumental in a campaign to alter hospital restrictions on visiting by parents. In 1952
when he and Robertson presented their film A Two Year Old Goes to Hospital to the British
Psychoanalytical Society, psychoanalysts did not accept that a child would mourn or experience grief
on separation but instead saw the child s distress as caused by elements

James Stevens Equality
The struggle between different social classes and the move toward equality is what has marked the
history of the world, especially over the past few hundred years. Karl Marx s philosophy was that
history is the narrative of class struggle during which the poor seek to overthrow the nobility. Class
distinction is very prevalent in The Remains of the Day. The novel is about the lives of the serving
class in relation to those whom they serve. In The Remains of the Day, James Stevens identity is
consumed by his profession, resulting in him losing the chance to lead a normal life in which he could
find contentment in himself and his relationships rather than his work.

All the things that he values are tied to his profession. He values the quality of the work that he does
and takes pride in accomplishing the tasks of his profession with a high degree of effectiveness. This
is shown in the episode where he kept on working after his father s death, refusing to go up and see
him, initially. The fact that he didn t allow personal affairs to get in the way of his work is a point of
great pride for him and he counts that night as one of the triumphs of his career as a butler. This shows
that he has been so conditioned to put his occupation above everything, how it has become his life and
identity, and that his sense of identity is tied to his work. One of the pursuits of Stevens life is to show
dignity. In his opinion, it is the quality that all butlers must show in order to be great. This is what
motivates him to devote his life to being a butler. Stevens spends several pages musing on the criteria
that should be met in order for a butler to be considered great, and this shows how his thinking is bent
toward this. The dignity that he shows in various instances of his career are points of pride for him and
define who he is as a person. He reflects that, I should cease looking back so much...I should adopt a
more positive outlook and try to make the best of what remains of my day (244). Stevens questions the
meaning of his life, as it had always been defined by his professional role as a servant. He comes to
the realization that the way in which he found value in only his work is shallow, and he resolves to
change his mind set so that he will find contentedness not only in his profession, but in his

The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization
1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization
Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world
(Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity
differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the
equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of
worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total
level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the
percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an
organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. An organization s
full capacity is the minimum point on total cost function, a full input point on the aggregate
production function and a bottleneck point in a general equilibrium system. Full capacity should be
defined as a realizable level of output that can be attained under normal input conditions without
prolonging accepted working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the existence of excess capacity is often cited as evidence indicating the presence of
monopolistic elements within individual industries. The notion of Capacity utilization is also widely
used in business cycle analysis to characterize the situation of individual industries or whole
economies and to assess the appropriateness of economic policy. It also plays an important role in
econometric models in estimation of the relative significance of the determinants in investment,
imports etc. The concept of capacity relates to output. It is therefore different from concepts referring
to a single factor of production such as the degree of utilization of

The Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardy Essay
The Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardy
The poem entitled The Darkling Thrush, written by Thomas Hardy, has a very appealing connotation.
The work can be separated into two parts; the dismal part pertaining to the beginning of winter and the
second part focusing on one small aspect of good in all of the dismal surrounding it. The general idea
of the poem is that the dismal winter is approaching, but there are some incidences of goodness in this
depressing time.
The first part can be sectioned into the first and second stanzas. The poem opens with I leant upon a
coppice gate. This is the moment when the author enters the small wood and begins to narrate his
thoughts and feelings. The next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third stanza is where everything seems to turn around. As the narrator seems to be sitting in this
small wood, they seem to see a thrush, which is a small bird. Lines eighteen through twenty seem to
explain this very simply. They state, At once a voice arouse…in a full hearted evening song. This tells
the reader that under all of this gloom, there is one living aspect and that is this bird.
The fourth and final stanza tells the reader the narrator s new feelings on the winter months. This is
best summed up in the last two lines of the poem. They state, Some blessed Hope, whereof he knew
and I was unaware. This states that the narrator feels that winter will soon be ending and the tiny little

The theme of the poem is to find good meaning in everything and that good is always present in

there and it is our job to search it out. In the case of the poem, the narrator now knows that the warmer

Hurricane Harvey Hurricane
Natural disasters have costed the government a massive amount in the past years. Hurricanes such as
Katrina left people in Florida, Haiti, Louisiana and other parts of the gulf feeling helpless. Katrina
ravaged states along the coast of the gulf making it the most expensive damage from a natural disaster,
108 billion dollars. However, in 2017, the disasters required over three hundred and ten billion dollars
for repairs (Bowden, 2017). How will this be paid for? Will the government have to cut budgets from
other programs? Over five natural disasters have struck the United States and surrounding countries
this year. These disasters consisted of hurricanes, mudslides, wildfires, flooding, and earthquakes.

Hurricane Irma crippled Puerto Rico with one of the largest blackouts in history. CNN reported last
month that only twenty six percent of the electricity in Puerto Rico had been restored since the
hurricane ripped through in September (Levenson, 2017). It has been over three months and over half
of their population is lacking electricity and clean water. By the time Irma reached Florida, it regained
momentum and flooded Miami with over twenty inches of rain (Weather Channel, 2017). This
resulted in a state of emergency and complete shutdown of the city. Also, Orlando and Walt Disney
World experienced some aggressive winds and thunderstorms. Wildfires engulfing California reached
ten billion dollars in repair costs. This estimated cost was shared before the fires roared into Southern
California. Solutions to this continued problem could include reserving more funds into the natural
disasters budget. This would provide a safety net for the citizens of the affected state along with the

Perspectives On Voluntary Euthanasia
Voluntary Euthanasia: A Number of Perspectives
The field of ethics exists specifically to help people make moral decisions with a sense of consistency
and equality. Morality and moral decisions are never quite as clear and easily reduced as they appear
to be in text form. The concepts of rights, duties, preferences, cultural sensitivities, the priorities of
individuals and societies at large, all of these come into play when making moral decisions. This is all
the more the case in areas wherein a loss of life is concerned. Death is a large part of life and has
extreme significance in all cultures, which is made all the more complicated when it is caused by one s
own hand.
Voluntary euthanasia is one of the subjects that makes people very uncomfortable, ... Show more

Given that Deontological Ethics are also called Duty Theories (Fieser, 2014), we see that the duties
one has to others are placed in higher esteem than the cessation of one s own suffering. This is
complicated further by the addition of duties to oneself such as the prevention of harm to oneself or
the avoidance of self destruction. A Deontologist who emphasizes the application and respect for
rights might make a decision in either direction, placing the right of one s own choices regarding one s
own life as paramount, or perhaps saying that one s right to life cannot be rescinded by others, which
would make it moral to keep someone alive, even against their wishes. A Deontological ethicist would
most likely say that voluntary euthanasia is an immoral system, as it allows for the violation of one s
duties to others, to oneself, or

The Black Church In The Film Red Hook Summer
(Response to Question 2) In studying the Black Church not only as an institution, but as a
transitioning tradition I have come understand the role it plays in the lived Black experience. It is
within the Black Church that one encounters a Divine that affirms and respects Black bodies,
communities, and cultures. And from that affirmation and respect, derives the societal call to address
the systemic oppression and disregard of Blackness. This statement and movement pivotal to the
Black Church tradition is rooted within the intersectional space of prophetic and pastoral physical

Descriptive Experience Of A Museum
When I first saw the museum I was amazed because the museum is surrounded by such beautiful

the museum. The exterior of the museum, in my opinion, was a very cool be modelled after Roman
architecture. After entering in the lobby, I found it to be very orderly and the security gave me a sense
that the museum was heavenly guarded. After walking around the interior of the museum, with
security guards in every room, I found that it was just as great as the exterior. The interior was
amazing because each room was wide and each painting or sculpture was organized by country and
artist making a very order museum atmosphere which allowed viewers to think about the artworks.
Another thing about the inside of the museum was that each room was painted and lighted to not clash
with the artworks in the room, allowing viewers from all around the world to see the true beauty of the
artwork without the room messing up their perception of the paintings or sculptures.
The first of the paintings I going to write about is the Allée at Schloss Kammer. The Allée at Schloss

Interpersonal Communication In The Movie Meet The Parents
An analysis of the interpersonal communication of the main characters in the movie Meet the Parents
in relation to interpersonal communication concepts and relative theories. I predict the lack of self
disclosure and deception will cause a problem between Greg and Jack when beginning their
relationship as son in law and father in law, which will also stress other personal relationships.
To begin, Meet the Parents is a film that was written by Jim Herzfeld and John Hamburg, and directed
by Jay Roach. The film is centered around two main characters, Gaylord Greg Focker, played by Ben
Stiller and Jack Byrnes, played by Robert DiNiro. Greg is a Jewish male nurse living in Chicago with
his Christian kindergarten teacher girlfriend Pam, Jack s daughter. Greg decides he wants to propose
to Pam, but his plans are halted when Pam s sister Debbie becomes engaged, and Greg learns that
Debbie s finance had asked Jack s permission before proposing. When Greg meets Pam s parents a
sequence of embarrassing and destructive events occurs. Throughout the film, Greg is seeking
approval and acceptance by Jack and the Byrnes family, but many mishaps ensue, and he
instantaneously becomes the prey to Jack, who in movie reveals that he is ex CIA.

Yet another type of individual retirement plan is the Keogh plan. A Keogh plan differs from IRAs and
401(k) s in that they are designed for self employed professionals, typically small business owners.
Full time employees of a small business must be included in the plan if they have worked for the
company for at least three years. (3) As with the other retirement plans mentioned, one cannot take
money out of a Keogh until the age of 59 ½ years without penalty. Keogh plans also allow individuals
to put their funds into the plan on a tax free basis, with the individual paying taxes upon withdrawal.
Small business owners can set their own eligibility requirements for employees to meet in order to
take part in a Keogh. For example the employer can require employees to be full time, to meet a
certain age requirement (cannot exceed 21 however), and to have worked for the company for a set
amount of time. (3) Keogh plans are attractive to small business owners because the funds put into the
plan are allowed to grow tax free, however owners who invest in a Keogh plan need to weigh the costs
with the benefits in order to gauge if a Keogh makes economical sense. Pensions are also an important
consideration when making plans for retirement. A pension is similar to an individual retirement plans
as they involve an account that the employee pays into. A pension is a steady

Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
THINKING, FAST and SLOW Book Project
Thinking, fast and slow written by an empirical researcher and psychologist, Daniel Kahneman, The
book tells us how we can afford to think while we re not even paying attention. It offers us the paths to
better understanding ourselves, how to think automatically and common, instead of difficult and rare.
The book starts by clarifying the two fundamental modes of thought: system 1 (the fast thinking
system) and system 2 (the slow thinking system). System 1 is fast, automatic, effortless, and intuitive.
And it cannot be turned off. While, system 2 is slow, effortful and lazy. But in all, system 2 is a very
supportive system.
Ranking the book between 0 and 10; I will give the book a good 8.5/10. It s simply a lovely book;
amongst all other self help or pop psychology books I think Thinking fast and slow is the Godfather.
The book is divided into 5 parts, and each part is further divided into sections. The short sections
make it easy to read, easy to access and navigate around. I wished I read it very slowly. I will surely
recommend it to friends, and people that want to be aware of their motives.
TWO SYSTEMS
A good portion of part 1 is spent telling us about the two systems, system 1 and system 2. System 1
operates automatically and quickly with no effort applied to it. While system 2, allocates attention to
effortful mental computation.
Daniel Kahneman points out that there are not too many fundamental ways of thinking or

Usa Indiana Supreme Court Case
Why would the Indiana Attorney General wade into a United States Supreme Court case over the
opening prayers said at town council meetings in western New York state? It s a reasonable question
Hoosiers might ask after my office filed a friend of the court brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in a case
that could decide whether the widespread practice of prayer at the start of legislative meetings is
constitutional. In analyzing the long history and tradition of opening meetings with prayer, our brief
contends that prayers initiated by citizens themselves including prayers that invoke God, Jesus, Allah
and other deities do not violate the First Amendment prohibition on government establishing religion.
Our brief argues government assemblies are not proselytizing if they allow citizen expression of such
prayers at the start of meetings. The Texas attorney general co authored our brief and a bipartisan
group of AGs from 21 other states signed it, reflecting the legal importance of the question. ... Show

Examples Of Foolishness In Othello
Othello s Foolishness
The tragedy Othello by William Shakespeare is a story based on the revenge of the main two
characters, Iago from Othello. Othello also known as the Moor is a man of discipline, honor and a
leader of men. He is a warrior who has served the army for many years. He is a well respected officer
in the Venetian State army. This is apparent as the Duke of Venice greets Othello by saying, Valiant
Othello, we must straight employ you against the general enemy Ottoman. (1.3.48 9). He is not a
native Italian which makes him to be an outsider. Not being a native may make others jealous of his
rank and the respect he receives from others.

As nothing else could match. (3.4.50 63)
When her mother was dying, she passed on the handkerchief to Othello and told him to give it to his
loved one. Othello is a fool to believe that the handkerchief has magic in its webs and that if
Desdemona loses the handkerchief or gives it to someone, they would lose their love as well. He even
warns Desdemona about this and how it would be a great loss for them.
After killing Desdemona, Othello knows that he has done a thing which has left no space for
forgiveness for him. He is mostly blaming Iago for this action of his and we can see it where he says:

However, Contrary to the idea that social media creates a polarizing filter bubble, exposing people to
only a narrow range of opinions, 70 percent of Millennials say that their social media feeds are

(American Press Institute, 2015, p. 3) This disputes the notion that everybody who engages in social

this in mind we can hope groups other than millennials are not receiving a likeminded point of view

topics can only be good for public discourse, and could potentially impact mobilization. The
preceding paragraphs were aimed at providing a baseline of knowledge, show that social media
provides a wide variety of information, and to establish that its worthy of investigation. At the moment
there is a lack of research aimed at determining the impact of the public s use of social media on
Agenda setting, and priming. Yet, there has been research regarding social media and mobilization that
is quite promising. Thus far, mobilization is where social media has seen its greatest impact.
Mobilization is defined as, the process by which candidates, parties, activists and groups induce other
people to participate (Rosenstone Hansen, 1993, p. 25). When taking the definition for mobilization
into account it is easy to understand why social media has shown promise in this area. Social media
supplies activists with the ability to circulate information, and information is the means by which
political activists recruit new members. Social media also creates vast networks that . . . allow people

  • 2. Frankenstein vs Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde Samantha Fajardo Frankenstein Comparative Essay Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley, is a novel about a creature that is produced by Victor Frankenstein, as a result of his desire to discover the secret of life. Dr. Frankenstein founded this secret by animating dead flesh and stitching human corpses together to create a superhuman. As a reader, one realizes the consequences of Victor s discoveries through series of unfortunate events that occur in the novel. The story begins with four letters which help introduce the story from Walton s perspective as he meets Victor and learns the truth and tragedy behind Dr. Frankenstein. However, throughout the novel, letters are sent from Elizabeth and Alphonse, which further develop the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Character development determines what ways characters affect the progress of the plot; therefore in both novels, one can identify events that begin to answer each novel s mysteries. In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Lanyon receives a registered letter from Henry Jekyll, that presents a list of duties he wishes Lanyon can do in his favor. He asks if he can go to his drawer in his lab, to pick up items that are to be given to a man, that would visit Utterson s dwelling that same evening. The items included salt, a vial of blood, and liquor. That evening Edward Hyde, the strange looking man, arrived and used the items Utterson had picked up. In the next moment, it was no longer the strange man that stood before Utterson, but Henry Jekyll. As a reader, this discovery explains that Jekyll took a special potion, which changed his identity of Mr. Hyde to Dr. Jekyll. This also explains that the murderer of Sir Danvers Carew was Jekyll in Hyde s body. Lanyon states, The creature who crept into my house that night was, on Jekyll s own confession, known by the name of Hyde and hunted for in every corner of the land as the murderer of Carew. (Stevenson, Page 59) This quotation signifies the verification of the murderer, as well explains why the letters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were identical. This further develops the plot, as characters are developed which help justify the mystery in the novel. Elizabeth s letter written to Victor Frankenstein, expresses ... • 3. My Writing As An Inquiry I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and other skills during my semester in Writing as an inquiry . Not only were my writing skills improved, my understanding of rhetoric increased as well. This was done through teacher instruction, class participation, and assignments. Up to this point, I completed four projects in the semester. Each project being very different and improving my writing, rhetoric, communication skills, and testing my creativity. The first project that was assigned in the class was a Learning Narrative. The goal of this assignment was to write about a profound learning moment that occurred in my life. A lightbulb clicked and I decided to use Lifetime gym as my culture and a dumbbell as my artifact. The next step of this project was to compare my culture and artifact with another culture. The biggest obstacle I faced was having to be creative and think about how other people and cultures may view the dumbbell. It was difficult to pick just one certain group and try to hypothesis how they may view the dumbbell. I chose to think of how people of low income and countries in poverty may view the dumbbell. I hypothesized they most likely do not have access to the dumbbell. Therefore, not knowing what it is, or having to use other heavy objects as a substitute for a dumbbell. This project was very interesting and eye opening. An object like a dumbbell, which I have very easy access to, is not easily accessible for everyone. Without this project, I would not have thought of a broader culture. It makes me grateful to be able to have such easy access to a dumbbell, which others in countries in poverty may not have the luxury of. I reached the goals of this assignment. I was able to think of a specific artifact and describe it in specific detail. I then thought of a few broader cultures and was able to compare a specific culture to mine. Project three was the remix project. The goals of this project were to be able to take writing and turn it into a visual. In a group with two other people, we would use the phrase A ... • 5. St. John s Marriage In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, the main protagonist, Jane, often avoids temptations that she faces and uses her strong will and independence to avoid situations that she knows will end badly for her in the long run. These situations are most usually involving a man, some form of love (or lacking thereof), and a possible marriage. The final time she is asked to be wed, Jane accepts and finally does settle down as a married woman, but before then, she runs from a marriage on her wedding day, and refuses one more before she is engaged. This one that she refuses is the one requested by St. John Rivers, a man working in a ministry whom takes Jane in and cares for her, with his two sisters, in her time of need. Jane and St. John have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through all of her suffering and misery, she does end up being happy, living with the man that she loves, and has loved, all along. This man is not St. John. There are multiple reasons why Jane declines John s request. First of all, she finds it horrific that he does not actually love her. For once in these novels, marriage isn t actually about wealth; but of course, there is also a lacking of affection, in this case. John sees it fit that Jane marry him because she would make a great missionary wife...and that is all. Jane also knows that St. John would have the motive to have sexual relations with her, because that s what husbands and wives do, even if there is no warm feeling involved at all. Another reason for Jane s declining is because marriage to St. John would mean sacrificing passion and love for reason and principle. At one point, St. John invites Jane to come to India with him, for six weeks, as a missionary and his wife. In doing this, John explains, she would have the chance to make a more meaningful contribution to society than she would as a housewife (or, in other words, than she would with anyone else). While this is an interesting offer, living with St. John would mean living without any love at all. Jane would constantly be lonely, and would have to neglect her own needs of love and emotional support. Her consideration of St. John s proposal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Analysis Of Squatters Take On Developers By Benjamin Shors Many elements influence the implications and receptions of all texts, regardless of the text s media type. The exact same idea presents itself when comparing the two provided works, an advertisement for Cruises with the Great White Fleet and an article titled Squatters Take on Developers by Benjamin Shors. Both of the pieces are only properly juxtaposed upon analyzation of their respective contexts, intended audiences, uses of language, and structures. Context in regards to literary works can best be described as the economic, political, and social situation that was present upon creation of the piece. The advertisement does not explicitly say when it was created, however, it is highly likely that it was produced in the mid 20th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the top left corner the piece reads, only first class passengers carried . While this could simply indicate that the cruise liner treats all passengers equally, it is much more probable that the words serve as a means to draw their intended audience, the exuberantly wealthy, in with the promise of an untainted paradise. The article, however, appeared in the newspaper, The Miami Herald. This implies that it was destined for a much larger audience, one that spans a more diverse, modern, and inquisitive audience. Similarly, the fact that Shors published the article in Miami suggests that his reading population will be more sympathetic to the suffering of Panamanians in the articles, as a large portion of Floridians are Hispanic in ethnicity. Despite the vastly different intentions of the two works, they do have some similar traits, especially in regards to their uses of language. Both pieces share emotionally charged language that pushes forth their own agendas. As to be expected, though, these similarities achieve entirely different results. The advertisement relies on overly positive and flowery language to draw the audience in. Words like delightful , excellence , and noteworthy highlight this. While the article does the same thing, it uses the language to force the reader into a downcast state, attempting to get them to pity the victims of American capitalism abroad. In this case, Shors uses negatively charged words: scavenged , rough , and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We were told to pack everything our hats, pets, sun block, money, phones, and even leaf blowers. Next with our mouths full and our bags packed we grabbed our pets and jumped on a lifeboat. We were first to leave and we got further than anybody else. That night we heard a creaking noise under water. It turns out to be a Sperm Whale then it jumped up and ate everybody else. • 11. Odysseus Heroic Qualities A man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities is the dictionary definition of a hero, but the qualities that make one a hero can differ drastically. In the Odyssey, Odysseus plays the role of the heroic character. He is brave, able to overcome fear, intelligent, cunning, and much more. Many characters in the Iliad could be perceived as the hero. Personally, I think it was Patrocolus who took on that role, who was willing to sacrifice himself for the better of his people. Heroes in the modern day are everywhere, but with much less recognition than those in the Odyssey and Iliad. In addition to that, they don t have to take a 10 year journey facing sea monsters and cyclops just to get home to be considered a hero. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Odysseus eventually persuades her to turn his crew back into men; but when she does so, they were under a trance that she would only diminish if Odysseus went to the Underworld. Through creative free play, children are able to establish independence and have the freedom to express themselves. The argument against arranged marriages is often that the two people marrying do not love one another, and so they may spend their entire lives in unhappiness. Unhappiness, though, can come from any relationship, free will or not, and so is the case with traumatic bonding. How can two people with no reasonable compatibility maintain a relationship for any amount of time? According to Bowlby s attachment theory, if the victims were abused or made to act as caregivers as children, they may be more inclined to seek an abusive relationship. I hypothesize that these two situations are connected. Traumatic bonding victims feel an attachment for their abusers due to some dysfunction in their childhood relationships with their caregivers, and that relationship brings about the passive defensive behavior seen within their traumatic relationships. Observational data on humans support the hypothesis that the neural correlates of attachment are distinct from those of the sex drive and those of attraction (Fisher 1998). So, the attachment felt within a traumatic bond is not necessarily driven by attraction or sex drive, meaning that genuine attachment in a traumatic bond is possible, and though genuine attachment is possible, behaviors of submission appear to combat the abuse. Though the victim is attached to his or her abuser, behaviors are enacted to prevent further abuse and make the relationship bearable. Trucks and cars have some similarities and differences. The three main categories when comparing cars and trucks are off road use, passenger capacity, and gas mileage. Firstly, engineers build trucks for highway and off road use. A truck can go where a car cannot. Trucks have more clearance, meaning they can run over trees, dirt, mud, etc. without the bottom scraping the ground. Cars do not have much clearance for off road. The novel is about the lives of the serving class in relation to those whom they serve. The fact that he didn t allow personal affairs to get in the way of his work is a point of great pride for him and he counts that night as one of the triumphs of his career as a butler. This shows that he has been so conditioned to put his occupation above everything, how it has become his life and identity, and that his sense of identity is tied to his work. One of the pursuits of Stevens life is to show dignity. In his opinion, it is the quality that all butlers must show in order to be great. This is what motivates him to devote his life to being a butler. • 18. The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization 1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world (Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. • 20. The Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardy Essay The Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardy The poem entitled The Darkling Thrush, written by Thomas Hardy, has a very appealing connotation. The work can be separated into two parts; the dismal part pertaining to the beginning of winter and the second part focusing on one small aspect of good in all of the dismal surrounding it. The general idea of the poem is that the dismal winter is approaching, but there are some incidences of goodness in this depressing time. The first part can be sectioned into the first and second stanzas. The poem opens with I leant upon a coppice gate. This tells the reader that under all of this gloom, there is one living aspect and that is this bird. The fourth and final stanza tells the reader the narrator s new feelings on the winter months. This is best summed up in the last two lines of the poem. They state, Some blessed Hope, whereof he knew and I was unaware. This states that the narrator feels that winter will soon be ending and the tiny little thrush showed the narrator this. The narrator now knows that there is a hope of the summer months coming. The theme of the poem is to find good meaning in everything and that good is always present in everything. God does things for a reason and the good may not always be immediately visible, but it is there and it is our job to search it out. In the case of the poem, the narrator now knows that the warmer seasons will return to again bring joy and life to everyone. The book starts by clarifying the two fundamental modes of thought: system 1 (the fast thinking system) and system 2 (the slow thinking system). System 1 is fast, automatic, effortless, and intuitive. And it cannot be turned off. While, system 2 is slow, effortful and lazy. But in all, system 2 is a very supportive system. He got super worried. Oh , uh, nevermind, he muttered. He walked away pretty quickly. I m already an anxious mess, so when I had to take the kids into his classroom the rest of the week it was extremely nerve wracking. The last incident was when we got to the place we were staying. The church where we were housed was so old, the missions trip leaders had to have us choose between air conditioning and charging our electronics! In Tennessee, air conditioning is the obvious choice. All the youth groups were separated into different rooms, when usually each youth group has their own rooms. I didn t enjoy that. The church was in the middle of the ghetto, too! On the fourth of July, no one was sure if the bangs we heard were fireworks or gunshots. I was scared. Hopefully, next year will be less ... • 38. Usa Indiana Supreme Court Case Why would the Indiana Attorney General wade into a United States Supreme Court case over the opening prayers said at town council meetings in western New York state? It s a reasonable question Hoosiers might ask after my office filed a friend of the court brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in a case that could decide whether the widespread practice of prayer at the start of legislative meetings is constitutional. In analyzing the long history and tradition of opening meetings with prayer, our brief contends that prayers initiated by citizens themselves including prayers that invoke God, Jesus, Allah and other deities do not violate the First Amendment prohibition on government establishing religion. Our brief argues government assemblies are not proselytizing if they allow citizen expression of such prayers at the start of meetings. The Texas attorney general co authored our brief and a bipartisan group of AGs from 21 other states signed it, reflecting the legal importance of the question. ... It s important for Indiana to weigh in on the upcoming Supreme Court case of Galloway v. the Town of Greece, New York, because the Indiana House of Representatives was subjected to a similar lawsuit in recent years. Municipal and state officials face uncertainty when deciding whether to start legislative meetings with prayer, and the Supreme Court could bring an end to that confusion. While the Supreme Court upheld legislative prayer 30 years ago, a conflicting hodgepodge of federal appeals court rulings since then has left officials facing expensive, time consuming lawsuits over legislative prayer practices. Such litigation only benefits plaintiffs lawyers. My office s government clients need some element of certainty and we cannot give them clear legal advice without a conclusive Supreme Court ... • 39. Augustus Univided Leadership Another subsequent source that helps debunk the theory of Augustus undivided leadership is from Dio Cassius s Roman History. This is principally accomplished as Cassius Dio, like Tacitus, mainly focusses on Augustus s single minded need for power in relation to the rights granted by a high majority of the people and the senate. However despite this, Cassius Dio declares that, Caesar himself was destined to have absolute control of all matters for all time, because he was not only master of the funds but also commanded the soldiers... Through this declaration provided by Cassius Dio, it can be interpreted that through becoming a part of the military command Augustus could immediately have access to power as there was a high amount of money ... • 40. Examples Of Foolishness In Othello Othello s Foolishness The tragedy Othello by William Shakespeare is a story based on the revenge of the main two characters, Iago from Othello. Othello also known as the Moor is a man of discipline, honor and a leader of men. He is a warrior who has served the army for many years. He is a well respected officer in the Venetian State army. This is apparent as the Duke of Venice greets Othello by saying, Valiant Othello, we must straight employ you against the general enemy Ottoman. (1.3.48 9). He is not a native Italian which makes him to be an outsider. Not being a native may make others jealous of his rank and the respect he receives from others. Iago, Othello s ancient (a position below lieutenant), is tired of not getting the position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She, dying, gave it me And bid me, when my fate would have me wived, To give it her. I did so, and take heed on t, Make it a darling like your precious eye. To lose t or give t away were such perdition As nothing else could match. (3.4.50 63) When her mother was dying, she passed on the handkerchief to Othello and told him to give it to his loved one. Othello is a fool to believe that the handkerchief has magic in its webs and that if Desdemona loses the handkerchief or gives it to someone, they would lose their love as well. He even warns Desdemona about this and how it would be a great loss for them. After killing Desdemona, Othello knows that he has done a thing which has left no space for forgiveness for him. He is mostly blaming Iago for this action of his and we can see it where he says: O ill starred wench, Pale as thy smock! When we shall meet at compt This look of thine will hurl my soul from heaven And fiends will snatch at it. Cold, cold, my girl, Even like thy chastity. O cursed, cursed slave! • 41. Social Media And The Media However, Contrary to the idea that social media creates a polarizing filter bubble, exposing people to only a narrow range of opinions, 70 percent of Millennials say that their social media feeds are comprised of diverse viewpoints evenly mixed between those similar to and different from their own. (American Press Institute, 2015, p. 3) This disputes the notion that everybody who engages in social media receive a uniform message, and these diverse viewpoints also enables users to become judicious in what content they are consuming. In the same American Press Institute study researchers concluded, nearly three quarters of those exposed to different views (73 percent) report they investigate others opinions at least some of the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study found Americans are selective consumers with behaviors varying reliant on the topic. With this in mind we can hope groups other than millennials are not receiving a likeminded point of view even if a clear proclamation cannot be made. All in all a multitude of voices talking about assorted topics can only be good for public discourse, and could potentially impact mobilization. The preceding paragraphs were aimed at providing a baseline of knowledge, show that social media provides a wide variety of information, and to establish that its worthy of investigation. At the moment there is a lack of research aimed at determining the impact of the public s use of social media on Agenda setting, and priming. Yet, there has been research regarding social media and mobilization that is quite promising. Thus far, mobilization is where social media has seen its greatest impact. Mobilization is defined as, the process by which candidates, parties, activists and groups induce other people to participate (Rosenstone Hansen, 1993, p. 25). When taking the definition for mobilization into account it is easy to understand why social media has shown promise in this area. Social media supplies activists with the ability to circulate information, and information is the means by which political activists recruit new members. Social media also creates vast networks that . . . allow people to assemble as individuals, with limited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
