Oklahoma City Bombing In American History
A truck bomb explosion occurred on April 19, 1995. Prior to 9/11, this event was the worst attack on
American soil in our history because it killed or injured approximately 700 civilians. By analyzing the
historical, social, and cultural perspectives, one can better understand the significance of the
Oklahoma City Bombing in American history.
Timothy McVeigh packed a Ryder truck full of five thousand pounds of explosives. These explosives
were made out of fertilizer. He parked the truck in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. He
lit a five minute fuse when he parked the truck, and he left. He was about six blocks from the building
when the explosion happened. The explosion destroyed a nine story concrete and granite building. It
also destroyed or damaged nearly 300 nearby buildings, and completely destroyed the vehicles across
the street. People in the building survived by diving underneath their desks. This explosion could be
felt up to fifty five miles away.
The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) gave their full attention on solving this case. The FBI stated
that this was one of the largest and most complex cases they had ever undertaken. ... Show more

Many people were injured or killed in the explosion. Of those who survived some ended up being
permanently disabled. While many felt betrayed and hurt that someone from their own country would
do something like this, they wondered why this would happen to them. Although, most of them have
now moved on, they try not to think about the things that happened. Most people who survived still
live in Oklahoma City, the children who survived still stay in touch. It is still a very rough and
emotional thing to talk for many people, so it usually does not get talked about very much. The
Oklahoma City bombing was a tragic event, things like this should never

Cause and Effects of Teen Drug Abuse
Teen Drug Abuse in America In today s society drugs are taking away our children s lives and it is
making headlines every day. In Vancouver, Washington, a 13 year old boy was found dead after
allegedly swallowing twenty four cold medicine pills to get high (Taylor 45). Nine Florida middle
school students were taken to the hospital after their strange behavior and illness at school led school
officials to discover that they had overdosed on an over the counter cold medication (Taylor 45). A
children s hospital in Wisconsin treated two teenage girls for liver failure after they consumed close to
20 tablets containing a common cold remedy. (Taylor 45). There are many more cases like this

causes our young people to see drugs as an answer (USA TODAY Section: Life, Pg. 06). But, if there
no conflict with them, they will use drugs to help them relax and have more fun. But teens drink and
smoke for other reasons as well. In the survey, 41% of boys responded that parties are more fun with

The Appalachian Region
The Appalachian region is one of the most valuable areas of the United States. It is rich in many
natural aspects and is home to some of the hardest working citizens in this country. Unfortunately,
Appalachia is also home to a variety of harsh social problems including severe drug abuse and a
gripping poverty facing a large portion of Appalachian citizens. The two of these issues seem to go
hand in hand in many cases, so the solution of one could also lead to the solution of the other.
Appalachians have always had a history of handling their own problems, these drastic social problems
are no different.
The entire country is facing a serious drug abuse epidemic, and Appalachia sees the effects of this
epidemic as much or more than any other part of the country. As the coal industry dies, jobs are
disappearing much more quickly than new industries are able to replace the jobs that have been lost.
This is causing many Appalachian citizens to turn to other means of producing an income, whether
they are legal or not. One of the most popular sources of illegal income in Appalachia is the drug
trade, more specifically, the trade of prescription drugs. In the 1990s, many pharmaceutical companies
began aggressively marketing their new prescription drugs such as OxyContin and other prescription
pain killers to the citizens of Appalachia for the abundance of work related injuries from the
dangerous jobs they have done their entire lives. Heroin has also recently become a drug of choice

English as a Second Language
English as a second language is becoming more popular all across the globe. It is not surprising,
because English is the main language of business and commerce, trade, advertising, sport, of science,
medicine, education, of popular music, entertainment, computers, video games and the Internet. Most
of the scientific, technological and academic information in the world is available primarily in
English. English unites and connects people from many different countries and cultures more so than
other languages. People around the globe learn English for different reasons. They study English
because they want to have access to the information presented only in this language, some of them
want to be able to communicate with more people wherever they go, others do it in order to obtain a
good and well paid job or to study abroad. Nowadays knowledge of the English in Kazakhstan is no
longer just a fad of intellectuals, but a vital necessity. Majority of students here starts attending
English classes 3 or 4 times a week since the second grade, however most of them do not speak
English at all, they do not even understand it. Their English is very poor. Students who learn English
attending courses know many grammar rules excellently, but they find it difficult to apply it in
practice, they cannot express their thoughts. I think it is because of the typical learning style here

Breast Lift Research Paper
A breast lift, referred to also as a mastopexy, is a form of cosmetic surgery that raises and firms the
bosom. It does this by the removal of excess skin. Once the unnecessary skin is taken away from the
chest, the surrounding tissue is then tightened and is reshaped by the doctor. This process will support
the new contour of the breast. Having this procedure will enhance your appearance if the upper half of
your body has dropped and no longer looks as if it is situated where it once was.
Over the course of time, a woman s breasts change. The youthful firmness and shape that you once
enjoyed can disappear. In its place, you can be left with droopy and sagging breasts that suffer from a
loss of skin elasticity. This can occur as a result of fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, ... Show more

A breast lift is a viable option for the female patient who is physically healthy and has maintained a
stable weight for an extended period of time. It is also the right choice for the woman who is bothered
by sagging breasts that have lost their volume and shape. If your chest is flatter, is pendulous looking,
or has an elongated shape, you may make an eligible candidate. Having realistic expectations about
the procedure is important. It is also recommended that a person who decides to have this operation
does not smoke.
If after your take your brassiere off, your nipples drop below the crease in your bosom, this may be a
suitable procedure that will enhance your upper body. If your nipples and your areolas point in a
downward direction or if you have enlarged areolas or stretched skin across your bosom, a breast lift
could improve your figure. If one of your breasts hangs lower than the other, a mastopexy will give

In northern Japan, on the island of Hokkaido and a part of the Russian Sakhalin Island, lives a
mysterious ethnic group, called Ainu... They are very distinct from the Japanese people and, before the
Tungus invasion coming from mainland Asia (Korea and northern China), the whole archipelago was
inhabited by Ainu. Ainu are shorter than the Japanese people, with lighter skin, robust body and short
limbs. Unlike typical Mongoloids, their hair is wavy and the body hair is abundant; men wear large
beards and mustaches, considered a sign of beauty, to the point that married women tattoo their lower
face to mimic a beard... Bears are considered powerful spirits which can... benefit... people. When
Ainu manage to capture a bear cub, a woman is charged to take care of it as if a child: the little bear
lives and grows amongst the people of the village, getting accustomed to them. When it is 2 3 years
old, the bear is sacrificed. The men drink its blood to get its power, and then they cut the head off and
then fly the skin of the bear. Later, during family ceremonies, the bear skin occupies a prominent
place, and food and drink is offered to it like to an honored guest. The bear was considered by the
Ainu the mythological hero that taught them to fish, hunt, weave and so on. Ainu lived in rectangular
huts with walls and roof made of bundles of reed and rush. Ainu live in a clime where snowed winter

How Culture Affects Financial Reporting And Auditing With...
Abstract In today s society, the international trading constitutes an increasingly significant portion of
the world economy than ever before. Having opened more subsidiaries in different countries and
invested in foreign markets, companies and investors are more exposed to problems reading
accounting records and auditing reports composed under different accounting principles. To better
understand the reason behind the accounting diversity, we need to dig into countries different cultural
background which imposes great influence on formation of accounting and auditing principles and
ways people practice. This paper will analyze how culture affects financial reporting and auditing with
the support of classic culture theories and facts. Introduction International accounting, a term given
birth by modern society, is a concept which encompasses all function areas of various accounting
principles and practices followed by every nation in the world. The international accounting consists
of three different levels. First level is the supranational level which signifies principles, standards and
guidelines of accounting, auditing and taxation issued by supranational organizations such as UN,
OECD and IFA (International accounting, Timothy and Hector, 2011, P1). The second level is the
company level which denotes the principles and techniques that people follow to report transactions
and evaluate foreign companies performance. The third level, the broadest one, can be viewed as the

Slavery In Joseph J. Ellis American Creation
Joseph J. Ellis American Creation thoroughly explained the attitude that many of the Founding Fathers
had towards slavery. Although they knew slavery was immoral and went against what they believed it,
they were unsure how to solve the problem. The Founders came up with three main solutions;
shipping the slaves back to Africa or the West Indies, gradually liberating the slaves, or postponing a
solution and allowing the next generation to deal with finding one. With the first two possible
solutions, the Founders came up with economic, political, and social consequences, which led them to
choose the third.
The Founders came to the conclusion that removing slavery would damage the country economically.
One of the main solutions the Founders had to end slavery was to relocate them. Jefferson s idea was
...the blacks...must be shipped to Africa or some location in the West Indies. (211). The cost of that
alone would have been enormous and extremely detrimental to the economy of the United States.
However, that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[Slavery] became a deeply embedded presence, now spreading relentlessly westward. Ellis (241).
Slavery was extremely important to the people of the United States. Even many of the Founders were
attached to their slaves. The first president, George Washington, owned more than a hundred slaves
himself (9). Jefferson knew that one problem with gradual emancipation would be having slavery
prohibited. He knew this would be an issue because of how fond many southerners were of slavery.
Jefferson s policy could put an end to slavery. However it would not stop the exploitation of blacks.
This was another problem when trying to find a solution to slavery. Even if slavery was ended, the
blacks would have to work for a barely, if at all, livable wage. The goal of prohibiting slavery was to
make all men equal. This was a concept first put on paper in the Declaration of

The cultural beliefs impacted the characters of this book is when Lena recalled her mother telling her
that if a spouse didn t eat their food, the other spouse would develop pock marks on their face. In the
book it states, If my mother had been in the room, she would have told me these poor people were
victims of future husbands and wives who had failed to eat platefuls of food (153). When Lena heard
this warning as a little girl, she also thought that she would have to marry a neighborhood boy named
Arnold, who she loathed. She proceeded into leaving her rice uneaten, so that Arnold would develop
more marks. A couple years later, she wasn t eating and suffered with anorexia. The consequence on a
little tale that her mother told her eventually took over her life and altered the way she treated her
body. Another belief of the Chinese is that one should not stress so much, to go with the flow and not
try to control everything that isn t going right. In Lena St. Clair s chapter, she mentions her worry that
one day, her husband, Harold, will wake up and not want to be with her anymore. In her chapter, she
says, Or that maybe it was because when you re Chinese you re supposed to accept everything, flow
with the Tao and not make waves... (156). Lena was living in constant fear that the man she loved
would leave her, so she didn t want to speak up for herself when something felt wrong in their
relationship. Lena struggled between the Chinese beliefs to not make waves and accept the situation
and speaking up for herself and feel in control of the relationship. Finally, the practice of the Chinese

animals depending on the year one was born. The animals represent different personalities and spirits.

Homework has been a part of every student s life since 1905 and recently has become a topic that

in Rahtke). Teachers and people who are pro homework would argue that this is the main reason
students are assigned homework. Homework is continuously used by schools because of the potential
benefits it can offer students. Most of the time when people talk about benefits of homework they talk
about academic benefits, however there is also nonacademic benefits. When students are given
homework students must take it upon themselves to make sure they complete it. Through this they
learn an important tool that is necessary in life, time management. Cooper emphasizes that homework
can also lead to students improving their self direction, self discipline, and self organization. When
students take it upon themselves to get their work done they improve their independent problem
solving skills, which can help them both in school settings and out in the world. Homework helps
build students characters as well as improve their academic skills. Homework might appear to be
beneficial when studies show students who do homework do better academically, however, there is a
point at which homework has a negative effect on students. The purpose of homework is to reinforce
the learning that takes place in school or prepare children for forthcoming lessons, which in theory,
sounds ideal. But, research on homework has indicated otherwise. Apparently, too much is detrimental
to children (Rajoo). The excessive homework that kids are being assigned is not helping

Joyce Carol Oates Against Nature
When I was a little girl my family owned a pet chameleon named Kana; Kana was beautiful, changing
colors as she climbed across the tiny decorations in her tank. Kana was majestic, cautiously trailing
along, grasping onto the brown twigs and the bushy greenery in which she spent most of her time. Her
spirits were always high, until one day it was all jolted to a sudden halt. Kana was a soon to be mother,
but the beauty of her birth was cut short due to complications. Her babies were lodged in her birth

Humans should put a rest to trying to study and explain nature. We are surrounded by the howling
abyss of the unknowable. People should embrace it for all that it is with a sense of awakism and
encounter new experiences with an open mind. Though unfortunately, the common conception of
nature is often narrow. Joyce Carol Oates is one nature writer with this narrow minded conception of
nature. In fact, Oates has an entire poem, Against Nature , dedicated to how much she despises it! In
Against Nature Oates pushes her beliefs about nature being meaningless. She uses lines such as It s as
impersonal, as coolly detached, as the Oversoul itself: a wise man filters his emotions through his
brain. Or through his prose. (199 202) to criticize nature writers such as Henry David Thoreau, whom
she was referring to in this line, about how they perceive and write about nature and its meanings.
Joyce tends to mock anything that gives nature any sort of meaning. The overall central idea Joyce
Carol has on nature is that it serves no moral purpose; it is just a mere presence, nothing more. I must

Types of Personality Tests
My Personality I took two personality test and scored what I think is pretty accurate. The first test I
took was created by a church but still accurate in the psychology field. By taking this test it would
help you figure out if your personality is one of the four types of people. The four types are choleric,
sanguine, phlegmatic or melancholy. Choleric is in short words adventurous, determined, outspoken,
and strong willed. Next is Sanguine which is playful, sociable, lively, and imaginative. Phlegmatic is
said to be thoughtful, adaptable, attentive, and controlled. Last is Melancholy which is detailed,
orderly, persistent, and deep. On this particular test I took a series of questions and gave an answer
that best fitted me. In doing so I found that I have a primary and secondary personality. My primary
personality was Phlegmatic which means I m relaxed and chilled out so to speak. My secondary

The Reasons behind Homosexual Discrimination
One of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, Dr Seuss, once said, Be who you are and say what
you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind . Essentially, this
advice is applicable to any given individual, yet it seems that it is most suitable for homosexuals, and
therefore why it lies within the heart of gay rights. It is inevitable, that as a minority group,
homosexuals will find that they will encounter more people who mind than heterosexuals. This
particular discrimination has been occurring for decades all across the globe; however it became
prominent in the United States in the 1950s. In 1953, under President Eisenhower, it was decided that
homosexuality was a sufficient enough reason in itself to fire people from federal jobs. This executive
order stood from 1953 until 1993, providing support to the idea that discrimination in employment
ranked as the worst type of persecution gay people faced at the time, second only to physical assault.
Throughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s, both lesbian and male drag queens suffered from
frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by police officers. Further, those same police officers
were certainly no help when gays were being abused and raped by other hateful individuals. It was not
until June 28, 1969 that a group of gay customers at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in
Greenwich Village, finally took a stand against the police harassment and created a riot. The

Les Miserables Sacrifice
In the book, Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo, Cosette is a girl who relies on Jean Valjean for
everything. She is very dependent and would not know how to survive without him. On the other
hand, Eponine is very independent. She is high spirited which has allowed her to escape the wrath of
her parents. Eponine is a better companion for Marius than Cosette because of her resilient nature and
sacrificial tendencies. Even though Eponine has had a rough childhood and is living in poverty, she
has risen above her family and is still a genuine person. Growing up with parents like the Thenardiers,
Eponine has not had it easy. As a child, she was spoiled, however, as she grew up her family became

After leading Marius to the barricade, Eponine realizes that taking him there was not a good idea, so

aimed at you? Marius knew what she was talking about and said, Yes, and a hand which stopped it.
Eponine admits that is was her who sacrificed herself to save him when she says, That was mine
(Hugo 288). Eponine is showing her sacrificial tendencies by giving up her own life in order to save
Marius s. She realizes that in order for Marius to be happy he deserves to be with Cosette, so she

than Cosette. Eponine has resilience, leaving her family who steals from the rich to provide for
themselves while making her their slave. She is aware of her absurd family and makes sure Marius is

The Odysseus-Personal Narrative
Complete Cleansing An old crow perched on the uppermost battlements of the enormous black stone
castle. Its wise eyes gazed out at the surrounding scenery, giving the impression that it had ruled the
castle for eternity. In the courtyards and rooms below the wizened crow, the silence ruled so heavily
that it could almost be heard. Nothing had set foot within the gates in many, many years. A heavy
curse lay on the blackened stones of the might fortress, and no living thing dared venture within the
crow s watchful gaze. Jason stepped out of the woods and studied the fearsome fortress, which loomed
on a hill, many yards above his head. Jason wore a long dark coat, which barely managed to conceal
the hilt of a long sword hanging at his belt. His bright blue eyes shone out from beneath his curly dark

with the jet black stone walls, making them difficult to see. Jason drew his sword, nervous about his

River Torre Research Paper
ONCE BEAUTIFUL RIVER GONE TO THE FISHES?
If I said green, grimy and Adelaide, your mind would instantly race to the contaminated River Torrens.
The River Torrens makes up a 85km stretch of the Murray Darling Basin and is vital to the water
security of Australia. But, yet it used to flow on a seasonal basis through and would have been used
for leisure activities, such as swimming. If you looked at the River Torrens now you could never tell
that s what it was used for, and instead, you can see the unsightly weir restricting water flow and the
murky brown green water plagued with environmental issues.
Two of these such issues are algal blooms, caused by various cyanobacteria, and the introduction of
carp into ecosystems. The effects of carp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aeration pumps have successfully been used in many rivers and dams to lower algal blooms, they
work by reducing nutrient load in the water column and mixing algae deeper into the water so that
they are deprived of light, other methods such as algaecides are also used as these are toxic to the
algae or cyanobacteria, but using algaecides can come with great risks and may cause more problems.
As a part of a redevelopment plan, the city of Adelaide has been looking at potential ways to remove
the algae and rubbish in the river, the plan is to lower the weir so that there is a flow of water. This
means that nutrients will be moving through and not concentrated in a singular spot, reducing the
likeliness of algal blooms. At the moment the most that are being done on carp is a ban on releasing
them back in the waterway, however, many people are working on an alternative. One of these
alternatives is the release of a carp herpesvirus this acts as a biological agent introduced to the
waterway, wiping out large majorities of carp in one swift go. However, there are issues with this once
in the waterway it cannot be removed and carp may develop resistance and there would have to be a
massive clean up undertaken to remove all the dead

Essay On Flashbulb Memory
In this first experiment, it seems to show a solid validity. Since ecological validity is defined as the
conclusions that are analyzed in the research study that can be generalized to certain settings and
situations for whatever is being studied where it would naturally occur. Since this was studying
random people on the street the ecological validity would be pretty high considering that you can
generalize the research findings of the study to a real life situations which this study demonstrates.
The generalizability of this experiment would be a bit low considering the information provided.
Generalizability is defined as an extensions of conclusions to a study based on a sample population to
a population at large. The larger the sample population in the experiment, the more generalized the
conclusions can be of the experiment. Since this experiment did not include how many participants it
is hard to define the true generalizability of this experiment. Although it can be determined based on
information from the class that the accuracy of these memory won t be as accurate as the participants
predict they are. Neisser s perspective on this research would be that you would need to take the
empirical generalizations first and foremost. If that provides solid evidence, then it shows ... Show

Another factor of why flashbulb memories are not accurate has to do with the media coverage of a
specific event such as a hurricane or 9/11. This alters how you remember the event versus how you
remember the event with the extra information that you seen on the news or heard via social media.
Since Puerto Rico and many other Caribbean islands did not have access to media for months after the
hurricane, this would protect the accuracy of these individual s flashbulb memories better than of a

The Importance Of The Indole Test
The indole test is a test that determines the ability of an organism to separate from the tryptophan
molecule. The organism Enterobacter aerogenes is aseptically removed from an agar slant and spread
over a square on the Indole dry slide. If there was a positive reaction the slide would turn a red color,
and if there was no color change then the results would be negative. The next tests are the Methyl Red

The broth will allow fermentation to occur by either pathway. The product that is formed and then
detected with different reagents will show the difference. The methyl red test is a test performed to
detect the ability of the organism E. aerogenes to produce mixed acid fermentation from supplied
glucose. By aseptically using the inoculating loop, one broth is inoculated with the organism E.

this will detect a strong, stable mixed acid formed in the mixed acid pathway. The other broth is taken

A Basic Principle Of Attachment Theory Essay
A parent child interaction happens prenatal and continues throughout a child s development soon after
a child is born, an attachment begins. This attachment begins with imprinting which some call the
sensitive period. During this time the child will become attached to the first caregiver seen (usually the
mother) and look to it for any sort of comfort. This was discovered through Bowlby s experiment with
ducks in the 1970 s, Bowlby defined attachment theory as Attachment theory conceptualizes the
propensity of human beings to make strong affectional bonds to particular others (Bowlby, 1977, p.
201). (Bartholomew Horowitz, 1991 p. 226). A basic principle of attachment theory is that attachment
relationships continue to be important throughout the life span (Ainsworth, 1982,1989; Bowlby,
1977,1980,1982b). (Bartholomew Horowitz, 1991 p. 226). Many theories have been proposed to
explain what motivates human interactions and behaviors in relationships. This literature review on

Similarities Between The Simpsons And Family Guy
We ve all seen these adult animated sitcoms, or at least heard about them. But when you think of the
legends in this category you need look no further than Matt Groening s classic The Simpsons, or the
more recent twist Family Guy created by Seth Macfarlane. The Simpsons and Family Guy are
American comical cartoons that share many similarities and differences. Although the two shows
portray a dysfunctional American family and have a similar way of delivering humor, they both
contrast in their targeted audience and characters.
The first and most noticeable resemblance is that The Simpsons and Family Guy s humor can be
indistinguishable in many ways. One of them being their sarcastic way of portraying pop culture,
politics, and ethnic or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, The Simpsons humor is family oriented and aims to target different generations. For instance,
hidden insults and crude jokes that only older generations would understand is not included in the
show. Also, the Simpsons includes cultural references that most of the present generations would
comprehend, which means that The Simpsons don t include too much current pop culture and media
related that older generations won t recognize. And even with the adult orientated content, the show is
suitable for the whole family to watch, even the young ones, though they won t grasp some of the
political and cultural jokes mentioned in the show.
Family Guy on the other hand does not target the whole family but the younger generations of
teenagers and young adults. Which is due to the use of crude jokes and blue humor. Also, Family Guy
uses current problems of the government, pop culture and the media. And just exploit them with irony
and sarcasm. What really captured my attention is how the show became darker, more violent and
mean spirited in recent seasons, which seems like a desperate try to attract more childish teenagers to

Persuasive Essay On Online Bullying
In today s progressive world, I believe it is better to consider online bullying in an immersed online
ethnographic research method, in order to fully understand how bullying is enacted in an online world.
It s also important to take this approach in order to understand what s misunderstood about online
bullying as a whole. Boyd (2010) states that if we are to know if online platforms act as a tool for
teenagers to perpetuate violence in the real world , we must look at what they are doing online. Boyd
finds that bullying does not dramatically go up or down when social media is introduced (Boyd 2015,
152). Digital spaces that are important in the lives of youth need to be understand both locally, and in
global contexts. Mallan, Ashford and Singh s (2010) article discusses iscapes as a way for todays
youth to hang out or communicate. The authors seek to answer the question, how do interactions
across iscapes affect the identity work carried out by today s youth. ( Mallan et al. 2010, 265).
Decheneaut et al. (2010) looks at an immersive ethnography in several online digital worlds. Bonilla
and Rosa state boldly that by using social media as their platform, subscribers can demand public
attention, and garner the attention from anthropologists by using hashtags (Bonilla et al. 2015, 5).
Technology changes how bullying is acted out, furthermore we consider online ethnographic
fieldwork in relationship to bullying as a real and viable part of anthropological studies.

Uses And Limitations Of Biosensors
Detecting bacteria is a rapidly expanding field of research, producing innovative and effective ways of
overcoming a variety of existing limitations. Current laboratory based bacterial detection and
identification techniques often require long procedures, provide low sensitivity and specificity as well
as slow turnaround times. These conventional techniques include microscopy, culturing bacteria,
polymerase chain reactions (PCR) and biochemical assays.
There is a heavy emphasis on developing new biosensors to overcome these prominent drawbacks. An
ideal biosensor would provide a detection sensitivity less than 103 CFU/ml within minutes,

These methods allow for quantitative and kinetic measurements of interactions and often measure
refractive index changes, which determines the sample concentration or surface density. [7]
Traditionally, label free techniques were not highly sensitive due to the lack of signal amplification
which would be provided by a label. However, there have been advancements in this field that will be
discussed which have provided label free biosensors with high sensitivities.
For specific sensing applications, it is desirable to have the bacterial detection sensor immobilized
rather than suspended in solutions. Immobilisation allows the static sensor component to be washed
and re used, thus decreasing the long term cost to the user. These sensor surfaces are commonly
designed to resist fouling and non specific interactions, as well as provide a permanent attachment of
the sensing components without negating the sensing capabilities. Without immobilization of the
sensing components, the systems often leave the sample contaminated with the sensing components.
Depending on the hazard levels and toxicity of the sample post detection, it could require waste
disposal protocols which are inconvenient, expensive and reduce the probability of wide scale
implementation of the detection method. To counter this setback, a number of optical bacterial

consider them two separate products, even though they have never been sold separately and provide
no value to customers independently.
3. On the basis of the responses to Question 1 and 2, what are the units of accounting in this

The two units of accounting listed under the agreement between Eye Vision and Holland Hospital are

Analysis Of Open Letter By Big Poppa E
Open letter, by Big Poppa E writes a letter in the form of a poem directed to a straight, white, middle
class, american, male. Though the writer wrote directly to a person, it s evident that he was writing to
everyone who would fit under the same categories. The individual writing the letter sets up each
stanza with reasons why the privileged individuals should shut the hell up. Big Poppa E s poem has a
gradual buildup of reasons that get more complexed towards the end until it gets to the punchline of
please just shut the hell up, instead of why you should shut the hell up. The goal of this writing is to
get everyday privileged individuals to understand that they have no right to pull the race card in a
country that is built around them.
Within the 3 7 stanzas that begin the Twenty reasons, there is a noticeable pattern within the first two
words of these stanzas that begin with you can. The you simply represents the Straight, white, middle
class, american, male that Big Poppa E describes in his introduction. Stanzas 3 7 are set up to
represent and explain the things the privilege can do and have that a person of color can not. In the
beginning of these small group of stanzas the reasons begin light with band aids that don t match the
flesh of black people to the perseverance of a black individuals being called a credit to their race.

New York Historical Events
History
A big part that people do not consider when they come to New York is about its early history, its
disasters, and its historical events. In New York the first people living there were the native americans.
There were two tribes the Iroquois and the Oneida. First, the Iroquois were a group of tribes the
Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, and the Seneca. Later, the Tuscarora joined the group of the 5. They had
different names depending on what kind of people they were. The French called them the Iroquois, the
name they have today. These group of people originally named their group the Haudenosaunee,
meaning the people of the longhouse. The British called them the 5 nations because at the time of
when the British saw them their first time the 6th tribe wasn t part of it. They lived in houses that were
called longhouses and sometimes these talks structures could be 100ft. tall of the ground. Lastly, the 3
sisters were the 3 crops grown together the corn, bean, and squash. Also, the Oneida ... Show more

One of them are the Twin towers. Terrorists crashed airplane on the Twin towers of the World Trade
Center. What might surprise you is that the people who crashed the plane did it on purpose. Thousands
of people were killed in this harsh attack. Another historical event is when New York became a state.
On July 26 1778, New York became 11th U.S. state. New York city was then the nation s capital from
1785 until 1790. Lastly, another historical event to not forget is Ellis Island. The island opened for the
reason of the government to take care of the immigration and make sure immigrants did not bring
diseases and make sure that immigrants could support themselves in America. The first immigrant to
arrive was 15 year old Annie Moore with her 2 brothers. She had come to reunite with her parents
already there. On the island there were medical tests and then be interviewed. If you passed those 2
requirements you would be able to

Mlg Pro Event Analysis
I would like to go to a MLG Pro event.MLG stands for major league gaming and is for gamers like
me. Each team is famous and has booths to meet some of the most well known people from that team.
The people on youtube that I always watch would be there supporting their pro team. Some teams that
would be there are Faze, Optic, Red, Obey, and many other teams. I believe I am responsible enough
to go to this event because I have watched both my brother and sister. I had to be responsible and not
let them burn the house down. I am more than responsible to go to this event. I would not be alone
though I would have friends with me. Together we would be careful and not get lost. I am a teenager
now and should be having fun. If I could go to an event

Love Hate Relationship
This is truly a great question that most of us don t think about. We have studied in various classes
about the food processing industry and the consequences of consuming those types of foods. Although
this may be true, we legitimately choose not to think about it by ignoring all the antibiotics and
artificial ingredients in our food the pollution in our water as consequence, well, I am one of them. I
love food and try to eat as clean as I can, at the same time occasionally it seems impossible. My
relationship with food is a love hate relationship. I adore to try new food and especially delicious food
like Mexican food, of course I m Mexican. With this in mind, I always try to obtain the best
ingredients for my cooking. Even though I do

It is rich in many natural aspects and is home to some of the hardest working citizens in this country. Unfortunately, Appalachia is also home to a variety of harsh social problems including severe drug abuse and a gripping poverty facing a large portion of Appalachian citizens. The two of these issues seem to go hand in hand in many cases, so the solution of one could also lead to the solution of the other. Appalachians have always had a history of handling their own problems, these drastic social problems are no different. The entire country is facing a serious drug abuse epidemic, and Appalachia sees the effects of this epidemic as much or more than any other part of the country. As the coal industry dies, jobs are disappearing much more quickly than new industries are able to replace the jobs that have been lost. This is causing many Appalachian citizens to turn to other means of producing an income, whether they are legal or not. One of the most popular sources of illegal income in Appalachia is the drug trade, more specifically, the trade of prescription drugs. In the 1990s, many pharmaceutical companies began aggressively marketing their new prescription drugs such as OxyContin and other prescription pain killers to the citizens of Appalachia for the abundance of work related injuries from the dangerous jobs they have done their entire lives. • 15. Slavery In Joseph J. Ellis American Creation Joseph J. Ellis American Creation thoroughly explained the attitude that many of the Founding Fathers had towards slavery. Although they knew slavery was immoral and went against what they believed it, they were unsure how to solve the problem. The Founders came up with three main solutions; shipping the slaves back to Africa or the West Indies, gradually liberating the slaves, or postponing a solution and allowing the next generation to deal with finding one. With the first two possible solutions, the Founders came up with economic, political, and social consequences, which led them to choose the third. The Founders came to the conclusion that removing slavery would damage the country economically. One of the main solutions the Founders had to end slavery was to relocate them. Jefferson s idea was ...the blacks...must be shipped to Africa or some location in the West Indies. (211). Jefferson knew that one problem with gradual emancipation would be having slavery prohibited. He knew this would be an issue because of how fond many southerners were of slavery. The Reasons behind Homosexual Discrimination One of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, Dr Seuss, once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind . Essentially, this advice is applicable to any given individual, yet it seems that it is most suitable for homosexuals, and therefore why it lies within the heart of gay rights. It is inevitable, that as a minority group, homosexuals will find that they will encounter more people who mind than heterosexuals. This particular discrimination has been occurring for decades all across the globe; however it became prominent in the United States in the 1950s. In 1953, under President Eisenhower, it was decided that homosexuality was a sufficient enough reason in itself to fire people from federal jobs. This executive order stood from 1953 until 1993, providing support to the idea that discrimination in employment ranked as the worst type of persecution gay people faced at the time, second only to physical assault. Throughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s, both lesbian and male drag queens suffered from frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by police officers. Further, those same police officers were certainly no help when gays were being abused and raped by other hateful individuals. • 26. River Torre Research Paper ONCE BEAUTIFUL RIVER GONE TO THE FISHES? If I said green, grimy and Adelaide, your mind would instantly race to the contaminated River Torrens. The River Torrens makes up a 85km stretch of the Murray Darling Basin and is vital to the water security of Australia. But, yet it used to flow on a seasonal basis through and would have been used for leisure activities, such as swimming. If you looked at the River Torrens now you could never tell that s what it was used for, and instead, you can see the unsightly weir restricting water flow and the murky brown green water plagued with environmental issues. Two of these such issues are algal blooms, caused by various cyanobacteria, and the introduction of carp into ecosystems. The effects of carp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aeration pumps have successfully been used in many rivers and dams to lower algal blooms, they work by reducing nutrient load in the water column and mixing algae deeper into the water so that they are deprived of light, other methods such as algaecides are also used as these are toxic to the algae or cyanobacteria, but using algaecides can come with great risks and may cause more problems. As a part of a redevelopment plan, the city of Adelaide has been looking at potential ways to remove the algae and rubbish in the river, the plan is to lower the weir so that there is a flow of water. This means that nutrients will be moving through and not concentrated in a singular spot, reducing the likeliness of algal blooms. At the moment the most that are being done on carp is a ban on releasing them back in the waterway, however, many people are working on an alternative. One of these alternatives is the release of a carp herpesvirus this acts as a biological agent introduced to the waterway, wiping out large majorities of carp in one swift go. However, there are issues with this once in the waterway it cannot be removed and carp may develop resistance and there would have to be a massive clean up undertaken to remove all the dead ... • 27. Essay On Flashbulb Memory In this first experiment, it seems to show a solid validity. Since ecological validity is defined as the conclusions that are analyzed in the research study that can be generalized to certain settings and situations for whatever is being studied where it would naturally occur. Since this was studying random people on the street the ecological validity would be pretty high considering that you can generalize the research findings of the study to a real life situations which this study demonstrates. The generalizability of this experiment would be a bit low considering the information provided. Generalizability is defined as an extensions of conclusions to a study based on a sample population to a population at large. The larger the sample population in the experiment, the more generalized the conclusions can be of the experiment. Since this experiment did not include how many participants it is hard to define the true generalizability of this experiment. Although it can be determined based on information from the class that the accuracy of these memory won t be as accurate as the participants predict they are. The organism Enterobacter aerogenes is aseptically removed from an agar slant and spread over a square on the Indole dry slide. If there was a positive reaction the slide would turn a red color, and if there was no color change then the results would be negative. The next tests are the Methyl Red broth and Voges Proskaur broths are inoculated using the broth inoculation technique used in class. The broth will allow fermentation to occur by either pathway. The product that is formed and then detected with different reagents will show the difference. The methyl red test is a test performed to detect the ability of the organism E. aerogenes to produce mixed acid fermentation from supplied glucose. By aseptically using the inoculating loop, one broth is inoculated with the organism E. aerogenes. The other broth is left inoculated for now. The broths are incubated for 37 degrees for two to five days. After the incubation period, five drops of methyl red are added to the MR tube, which this will detect a strong, stable mixed acid formed in the mixed acid pathway. • 30. A Basic Principle Of Attachment Theory Essay A parent child interaction happens prenatal and continues throughout a child s development soon after a child is born, an attachment begins. This attachment begins with imprinting which some call the sensitive period. During this time the child will become attached to the first caregiver seen (usually the mother) and look to it for any sort of comfort. This was discovered through Bowlby s experiment with ducks in the 1970 s, Bowlby defined attachment theory as Attachment theory conceptualizes the propensity of human beings to make strong affectional bonds to particular others (Bowlby, 1977, p. 201). (Bartholomew Horowitz, 1991 p. 226). A basic principle of attachment theory is that attachment relationships continue to be important throughout the life span (Ainsworth, 1982,1989; Bowlby, 1977,1980,1982b). (Bartholomew Horowitz, 1991 p. 226). Many theories have been proposed to explain what motivates human interactions and behaviors in relationships. This literature review on Shelley A. The Simpsons and Family Guy are American comical cartoons that share many similarities and differences. Although the two shows portray a dysfunctional American family and have a similar way of delivering humor, they both contrast in their targeted audience and characters. And even with the adult orientated content, the show is suitable for the whole family to watch, even the young ones, though they won t grasp some of the political and cultural jokes mentioned in the show. Family Guy on the other hand does not target the whole family but the younger generations of teenagers and young adults. Which is due to the use of crude jokes and blue humor. • 33. Persuasive Essay On Online Bullying In today s progressive world, I believe it is better to consider online bullying in an immersed online ethnographic research method, in order to fully understand how bullying is enacted in an online world. It s also important to take this approach in order to understand what s misunderstood about online bullying as a whole. Boyd (2010) states that if we are to know if online platforms act as a tool for teenagers to perpetuate violence in the real world , we must look at what they are doing online. Boyd finds that bullying does not dramatically go up or down when social media is introduced (Boyd 2015, 152). Digital spaces that are important in the lives of youth need to be understand both locally, and in global contexts. Mallan, Ashford and Singh s (2010) article discusses iscapes as a way for todays youth to hang out or communicate. The authors seek to answer the question, how do interactions across iscapes affect the identity work carried out by today s youth. ( Mallan et al. 2010, 265). Decheneaut et al. (2010) looks at an immersive ethnography in several online digital worlds. Bonilla and Rosa state boldly that by using social media as their platform, subscribers can demand public attention, and garner the attention from anthropologists by using hashtags (Bonilla et al. 2015, 5). Technology changes how bullying is acted out, furthermore we consider online ethnographic fieldwork in relationship to bullying as a real and viable part of anthropological studies. ... Current laboratory based bacterial detection and identification techniques often require long procedures, provide low sensitivity and specificity as well as slow turnaround times. These conventional techniques include microscopy, culturing bacteria, polymerase chain reactions (PCR) and biochemical assays. There is a heavy emphasis on developing new biosensors to overcome these prominent drawbacks. These methods allow for quantitative and kinetic measurements of interactions and often measure refractive index changes, which determines the sample concentration or surface density. [7] Traditionally, label free techniques were not highly sensitive due to the lack of signal amplification which would be provided by a label. However, there have been advancements in this field that will be discussed which have provided label free biosensors with high sensitivities. For specific sensing applications, it is desirable to have the bacterial detection sensor immobilized rather than suspended in solutions. Immobilisation allows the static sensor component to be washed and re used, thus decreasing the long term cost to the user. These sensor surfaces are commonly designed to resist fouling and non specific interactions, as well as provide a permanent attachment of the sensing components without negating the sensing capabilities. Without immobilization of the sensing components, the systems often leave the sample contaminated with the sensing components. Depending on the hazard levels and toxicity of the sample post detection, it could require waste disposal protocols which are inconvenient, expensive and reduce the probability of wide scale implementation of the detection method.
