Persuasive Essay On Robotics
Despite being stereotyped as nerdy by many, robotics is a rewarding extracurricular that can be
beneficial to anyone. Robotics is a program centralized around STEM, which stands for science,
technology, engineering, and math. Today, many schools will have a robotics program, most of
which are run by either VEX or FIRST. All of these programs are centralized around a team
working together to build a robotto the best of their ability to score as many points as possible. All
the while, participants also learn teamwork and technical skills that can be applied to the real
world. I have been a part of VEX Robotics Competition for three years, and prior to that
participated in FIRST Lego League for five years. Throughout this essay, I will mainly focus on
VEX Robotics Competition, as that is the program that I am currently a part of. STEM and
robotics programs in schools must become more available and receive more time and attention
because they help train students for engineering fields which are steadily growing, assist students
in being accepted into colleges, and transform lessons in school into practical, real world skills. To
begin, engineering fields have shown consistent growth, so it is important that students are
prepared for pursuing these fields. Experience early on with practical skills in a robotics club
setting can give students an edge if they choose to go into engineering. For this reason, it is
important that robotics be available to as many students as

Social Work As A Social Worker
There are many helping professions. Society has doctors, therapist, teachers, nurses, etc. To help
means to assist, which means to serve. Every business has the infrastructure to serve a need
presented for whatever motives lay behind the person s reasoning. What makes social work
idiosyncratic unlike the rest is the willingness and passion to promote human well being. I yearn
and hunger to see growth of what is already innate. That is the reason psychology became my
undeclared major.
My ignorance of the social work role did create misconceptions and fears. I knew I had to be in
some helping profession. I was not sure if I would do so through occupational therapy, psychology,
teaching, or social work. I wanted to be a social worker, but I was afraid of the danger associated
with it by giving way to stereotypes. No one wants to be shot or harassed due to taking someone
s child from a terrible environment. This is what I defined social work as. I was a psychology
major with a niche for social and child developmental psychology. I as three years into the Bachelor
of Science Psychology program and I began to develop a distaste for psychology methodology.
The field appeared to be competitive and only research or clinical driven, which I believed confine
the goals I set for myself. I was tired of rehearing the same old man psychological theories that had
a narrow scope. The competition was not intimidating, but it was unnecessary and defeating to turn

Colgate Palmolive-the Precision Toothbrush
1. What is changing in the toothbrush category? Assess Colgate Palmolive s competitive position.
Toothbrush manufacturers have poured millions of dollars and hours, to marry form and function
in oral health care products that enable their users to brush frequently, comfortably, and above all,
properly. Along the way, they have built the U.S. oral care market into a $2.9 billion industry,
changed the brushing habits of millions and turned the lowly toothbrush into a trendy lifestyle
accessory.
As the consumers are becoming more concerned about the health of their teeth, the toothbrush
companies are focusing on helping them have an optimal dental health, and offering various types
of toothbrush; to do this they must be all the time focused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

3. What are the arguments for launching Precision as a) a niche product and b) a mainstream brand?
В•Launching Precision as a niche product:
Niche positioning focuses on customers who care about the prevention of gum diseases. As such,
it could command a 15% price premium over Oral B and would be expected to capture 3% of the
U.S. toothbrush market by the end of the first year following its launch. Steinberg believed that
with a niche positioning, Precision retail sales would represent 3% volume share of the toothbrush
market in year 1 and 5% in year.
Under a niche positioning strategy, Steinberg decided that CP would establish a factory list price
to the trade of $2.13, a premium over Oral B regular and at parity with Oral B Indicator. If the
company decided to position the Precision toothbrush as a niche product many positive benefits
would appear:
1.Precision toothbrush is more advanced and is characterized for its technological superiority over
its competitors. Because of that, Colgate Palmolive can be able to differentiate and promote
something new to the market.
2.Colgate Palmolive would be able to charge premium prices if targeting to customers who are
worried about gum diseases.
3.If the company decided to position the Precision toothbrush as a niche product SKU s would not
decrease.
4.In case of failure of Precision, Colgate could reduce the losses if costs were to decrease.

Nelson Mandela was known as a world leader for his role in fighting apartheid and being the first
multi racial president of South Africa. His presidency created a significant change in the
perception and building of a multiracial society in South Africa and around the world. Nelson
Mandela was also known to be a leader of a civil rights organization known as the African National
Congress. The purpose of the African National Congress was to demolish racial segregation and
discrimination. The two most significant social changes made by Nelson Mandela was his uniting
of a fiercely divided country and his creation of a truly democratic society in South Africa. A great

In 1993, Nelson Mandela was elected the first multi racial president of South Africa. During his
term, he created a new constitution of law that declared majority rule and South Africa became
racially united. Every race was granted their human rights in South Africa thanks to the hard work
and struggles of Nelson Mandela, and his work was recognized nationally. Nelson Mandela later
worked on economic improvement within South Africa and focused on issues such as poverty and
AIDS.
Racial segregation and discrimination was also occurring in other parts of the world besides
South Africa. Martin Luther King Jr. was a colored pastor from Montgomery, Alabama who
shared a similar vision as Nelson Mandela. Martin Luther King Jr. had a vision that he could live
in a world where race did not affect how others treated you and or how you lived your life. The
two most significant political changes made by Martin Luther King Jr. were the abolishment of
racial segregation and the granting of civil rights and equality for Negroes.
Martin Luther King Jr. started a revolution in the 1950 s and 1960 s. Martin Luther King Jr.
believed in change. He wanted to put an end to the Jim Crow laws which gave Negroes
economic, educational, and social disadvantages. These laws made white people more superior
than the blacks. Martin Luther King Jr. s voice was heard when he chose to boycott these laws

Frank Abagnale s Outlaw Life
Frank Abagnale s outlaw life was forced at age 16 when he decided to get away from his family
and faced life by his own. He was born in New York, Bronxville, and he was the third of four
kids. His parents got divorced, and his mother got full custody of him. He decided to live with
his father because he was the most affected by the divorce. Here is when he started his life as a
juvenile delinquent. As Seal stated the outlaw hero is forced to defy the law or what passes for
it by oppressive and unjust forces or interests (74). There were several reasons that lead
Abagnale to choose an outlaw life. The first reason was that Frank felt frustration seeing his
father breaking down spiritually, economically, and physically. His family meant a lot to him,
and he wasn t comfortable with his parent s separation. He thought that acting like a delinquent
and getting into problems will bring his parents back together again due to the absence of
attention, but it never happened. He felt that his happy life was taken away by his own parents
at the time that they decided to separate. The feeling of losing his family and his happy life
obligated Abagnale to start his life as a juvenile delinquent. The second reason and the most
important was that he started to faced life as the way it is, hard, and cruel. When he decided to
get away from home, he had to pay rent, bills, and all of his expenses. He had a job, but he wasn t
making enough money to maintain himself. The feeling to resolve

The Splatterhouse Video
Before watching the clips, I was feeling content. I was not frustrated with anything or anyone, I was
calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up even more. During the first
video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of the animation and the story line. As for
the violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to turn away a few times. I think that there was an
excessive amount of gore that could have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or
the gamers like it.
The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some sort of story
line beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a person killing people in
many different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn t actually see anything too graphic,
but just the idea of people enjoying this game made me a little scared for our society.
During the third video, I thought about how believable the scenes were. The lighting ... Show more

Gore and violence doesn t interest me and I actually turn away from the screen any time there s
a graphic scene in a movie, which explains why these clips didn t have any effect on me. The
only clip that slightly interested me was Saw. I thought that the story line was interesting, but I
still wouldn t watch the actual movie, because of the violent scenes that I would have to watch.
Though I had almost no interest in these videos and found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught
myself on the thought that by the time I was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence
portrayed in these videos. If the first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last
video had no effect on me at all. I believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. The only
thing I did was sit and watch a few clips, but the effect was that I became immune to the violence

Similarities Between Captain America And Beowulf
When someone thinks of a superhero, they think of someone that is strong and immortal. Someone
that can t be defeated yet, they go into battle with as much bravery as someone that goes into battle
knowing they CAN be defeated. Every superhero has traits that make them great, but they also
differ in many things as well. Although Captain Americaand Beowulf are similar in their
weaknesses, strengths, and bravery, they also differ in their motivations, character traits, and
heroics, making Captain America the better hero. All superheroes have weaknesses. Whether it s
physically or mentally, they all have weaknesses that they struggle with that try to prevent them
from being the best that they can be. Captain America and Beowulf share a similar weakness of
the ability to get mortally wounded, due to the fact that they are both regular human beings. The
advantage of Captain America though is that, due to the soldier serum, Captain America s age is
slowed down (Frost). This is so important because this was a major factor in why Beowulf died.
Because Beowulf was growing old, he wasn t as strong as he used to be. Therefore he wasn t
strong enough to fight the dragon (Beowulf 800 805). Unlike Beowulf, Captain America s slow
aging advantage will allow him to have strength and abilities that will allow him to fight for a long
time. Just as superheroes have weaknesses, they all have strengths too. Although it is said that
Beowulf is, ...greater and stronger than anyone in this world,

Classification Essay
Classification of Exercise Partners
Every woman s magazine I ve ever read gives its readers advice on exercising, and one of the most
common tips I ve seen is to find a partner to exercise with. In my experience, however, having an
exercise partner is not a good idea. I have encountered five types of exercise partners, and I have
concluded that it is definitely best to exercise alone.
The Drill Sergeant
My ex boyfriend represents the Drill Sergeant. He is one of those people whose motto is No
pain, no gain. Of course, he assumes that everyone else follows this decree as well. He will try to
push you to the limit every time you exercise with him, and can become nasty if you give up
before he thinks you should. I refused to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

for breath and sweating profusely.
The Competitor
A high school teammate of mine was The Competitor. Her outlook on life was to be the best at
whatever she did, and exercising was no exception. She seemed perfectly sweet, but her
competitive streak emerged one afternoon. Our leisurely jog gradually turned to a run, and then
a full sprint. I glanced over at her and noticed the pained expression on her face. I knew she was
only pushing herself to beat me: she felt she had to run faster and further. You would think that
since I knew this was the case, I would have given up and let her get her dose of superiority. I
didn t. I was determined to teach her a lesson. I had been jogging regularly by that that time, and
was in pretty good shape. She gave up first, and The Competitor cannot stand to lose. We remained
friends, of course, but never ran together again. Her bruised pride and my sore muscles saw to that.
The Natural Athlete
A person doesn t fall into the category of The Natural Athlete because of attitudes or actions, but
because of superior ability. My cousin was the Natural Athlete. She didn t spend much time
exercising but was still in good shape. This alone was enough to make me almost hate her. I had

Risk Of A Diversified Portfolio
Introduction:
Market risk, or beta risk, is described as a reflection of a project on stockholders risk of a
diversified portfolio. Many factors can influence the market such as war, inflation, and recession.
Market risk is measured by the firm s beta coefficient to determine the effects the market has on the
portfolio. In addition to market risk, there are two forms of risk that managers use to calculate the
risk of a particular project related to holding a diversified portfolio. Stand alone risk is used
when the firm s only holds one asset or a single stock. Corporate, or within firm risk is the
measurement of all assets or stocks held by the firm. Of these three risks, the Capital Asset Pricing
Model states the market risk is the risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stand alone risk often correlated to the corporate risk which often correlates to the market; thus,
if stand alone risk is high, market risk will also be high. Market risk is the riskiness of a well
diversified project (assets or stocks) compared to the market using the markets beta, or slope of a
linear regression. The projects is plotted against the market (beta) risk to determine its risk
compared to the market. Much research has been done on the effects market risk has on stocks,
firms, portfolios, exchange rates, and more. Research often concludes with supporting evidence that
support the use of market risk for estimations and predictions in finance, since the market risk
cannot be eliminated from the stock market.
Market Risk Management:
Understanding market risk is crucial in determining the factors that threaten one s ability to attain
returns from a particular project, single stock, or a portfolio. The impact of market risks is crucial
to determining stability and the return on an investment. Many factors impact the market risk
which effect both global and country economies. Market risk allows a firm to estimate the risk and
return on projects or investments. Generally the riskier the project, the higher the returns. Market
risk is predictable over time; although the predictions are not perfect, one can gain understanding
into the effects the market will have on investment or how the investment will react to

Operation Management Of Zara
INTRODUCTION TO ZARA
Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success , Stephen R Covey once said.
Operations management is in charge of customers needs and satisfaction. Its aim is to live up to its
existence. The reason of its existence is to succeed in purchases, products quality, quality control,
stockpiling and logistics. All this accomplished, the results are bound to be remarkable.
Zara is an illustrative example of the correct operations management. The first shop was set up in
La Coruna and so far sixty eight countries have had their own Zara store. This progress happened
very fast and successfully. We can all understand that the system of Zara works properly and
people of Zara do their work effectively. The way they design, they produce, they sell things is

its constant success.

Modern Cyber Attack And Its Effects On Society
Traditional crimes, otherwise known as street crimes, violate state and federal laws without the use
of a computer and/or internet. Rape, homicide, distribution/using of illegal substance, assault,
burglary, breaking and entering, possession of unregistered firearm, etc. are some examples of
traditional crime. Just like traditional crime, cybercrime is inevitable and unavoidable as long as
computers and the internet are around. It can pick and choose its victims at random and although
there are ways to lessen the chances, it is still virtually inescapable. Robbing a bank traditionally
meant isolated incidents at individual banks. Cybercrime opens new doors to criminals where they
have the power to defraud entire institutions in way that would not have been possible traditionally.
(Carnaghan, 2013). The effects of a solitary, but thriving cyber attack can have an across the board
implication together with a loss of trust, consumer confidence, financial losses, and theft of
intellectual property. Three men named Kevin Mitinick, Kevin Poulsen, and Jeanson James

Criminal Profiling Case Study
Profiling is the recording and analysis of a person s psychological and behavioral characteristics,
it helps to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain area or to assist in identifying a particular
subgroup of people. Looking at the makeup of a crime can help to identify who the subject is. All
suspects have different signatures and modus operandi that connect crimeto person, and it would
not be successful without connecting the crime scene to the background of a person through
psychology. Below are three criminal cases that used psychology and criminal profiling to have a

also thought to be the one behind the death of more than twenty others. The string of cases of the
twenty others was known as the Atlanta Child Murders, after the discovery of two young black

Williams changed his modus operandi. He went from hiding the bodies to dumping them into the

Dr. Bernard, Canada s Nine Non Partisan Senators
Introduction In October 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named Nova Scotia s Wanda
Thomas Bernard as one of Canada s nine non partisan senators (Williams, 2016). According to
Semansky (2016), Dr. Bernard, who serves as the university s special advisor, diversity and
inclusiveness, [is] the first African Nova Scotian woman to serve in the Senate Chamber (para. 2).
In response to the news, Bernard has stated that equity for all is [her] primary goal in life. To be
able to enter the Senate with that perspective and contribute to the country is an incredible
privilege, one that [she] knows [she] will be accountable for (Semansky, 2016, para. 7). While

In this section, I will briefly discuss the effects of Trudeau s Senate reforms and argue that reform is
better than abolishment. Trudeau s three phased Senate reforms give minority group leaders an
opportunity to represent their communities. The reforms attempt to shift the focus from gaining
support for the Liberal party, to a collection of different and diverse minds within the Senate. The
first phase of the reforms focused on the [removal of] all senators from the national Liberal caucus ,
which inherently suggested that senators [no longer] have formal or organic ties with the Liberal
caucus, nor do they have any organizational, financial or other formal responsibilities within the
Liberal Party (Dion, 2015, para. 5). Going from there, the [creation of] a new, nonpartisan, merit
based, broad and diverse process to advise the prime minister on Senate appointments was the
second item on the agenda (Dion, 2015, para. 6). Finally, the third phase targeted the inclusion of
marginalized groups, such as women and minorities, in the Senate (Dion, 2015). Therefore, Trudeau
s appointments are changing the direction of the Senate to include historically oppressed minorities
and their representatives. That being stated, one particular argument that has been raised in
opposition to Senate reforms is that the upper house is no longer relevant and should be abolished
(Maclean s, 2013). The website suggests that

My Real Life Negotiation Assignment Essay
For my real life negotiation assignment, I went to Auffenberg Pre Owned Center in Belleville. I
have never bought a car before, nor witnessed anyone buy one, so this was an entirely new
experience for me. I chose to negotiate for a car for two reasons. First, I can t negotiate for
something more typical like a raise or lower rent because of my circumstances. Second, I will
probably buy a car within the next few years, so I thought this would be a beneficial experience
for me. After negotiating for the car, I think this experience has helped me improve my
negotiation skills by showing me things I do well, areas I can improve, and tactics the salesman
used against me. To prepare for my negotiation, I used a variety of websites including the
dealership s own site, Kelly Blue Book, Carfax, Cars.com, and the NADA s website to research
various automobiles and their respective prices. Once I completed my research, which took
approximately five hours, I went to the dealership within a week. I walked in and asked to speak
to the sales manager Mike Murphy, but he immediately passed me off to one of the other sales
representatives, Matt Townsend. I showed Matt the car I was interested in, a 2013 Chevy Malibu
LT, and he took me on a test drive. When we returned from the test drive, we went to his cubicle
and began negotiating the price of the automobile. He explained the various fees and taxes on the
car the brought the price up to $17,025.82 from the $14,799 for the car alone.

The Olympic Games Or A Party
The Olympic Games or a Party The Olympics are a special spectacle for everyone, and for sixteen
days every two years we are witness to the best athletes in the world. Only for the rare few the
dream to compete are a reality, but for the billions of other people, this is an event of pride and
passion for their home country. The continuous cycle of new cities and different countries
hosting the games brings out great nationalism. The challenge to get a bid to host the Olympics
has always been difficult but as the cost of the games rises the number of cities vying for it is
decreasing. The Olympics are the biggest sporting event in the world, and they are one of the
most well known events across the world. Being host to an event like this brings great revenue into
a country s economy through tourism and the need for jobs and construction. But the Olympics are
becoming very costly and countries are beginning to wonder if its worth it to host the party when
they know they will not earn all the money back. The Olympics ruin economies and the games tend
to hurt countries more than help them. The games are played every two years alternating between
the summer and winter Olympics. It roughly plays host to about 90 countries all vying for one
goal, the gold. The Olympics originated in ancient Greece with the first ever recorded games

Learning A Second Language Education Essay
We live in a world surrounded by people of various cultures, countries, and ethnicities, who all
speak different languages. As a young child, I attended a Spanish immersion program through my
pre school and elementary school. I was absorbed into a new culture much different from my
own. I grew up learning words in Spanish before I knew them in English. I also developed
unexpected friendships, spending much of my childhood in Spanish speaking households. As a
college student, I look back on this time and greatly appreciate the skills and lessons I cultivated
from learning a second language. Second language educationshould be required in elementary
schools. Learning a second languageleads children to become successful students with prosperous
futures and connects people of different cultures. Studies have shown that students who receive
second language education do better on standardized tests. A study conducted by P.W. Armstrong
and J.D. Rogers in 1997 declared that third grade students who received thirty minute lessons in
Spanish three times a week, scored higher on the Metropolitan Achievement Test in the subjects of
math and language than their peers who did not receive Spanish education (American Council on

that students who have received second language learning, do better on SAT sub tests and on the

Family business are businesses that are created from their founding fathers of that era, if may
evolve from small businesses into big enterprises. Family business is playing a very important part
in the economy of Malaysia; the reason is that more than half of the Gross Domestic Product of
Malaysia is from the family businesses that are conducted in Malaysia. For example The Genting
group and The Berjaya group are two of the most famous family businesses that are conducted in
Malaysia. The following are the issues and challenges that are faced by family businesses in
Malaysia.

The fourth challenge and issue that affects the family businesses in Malaysia is leadership
which is basically the compass for the direction of the family business. It is very hard for family
business to have good leadership because it involves leading, involving, and also motivating the
people in the family business so that they share the same goal. So, if the leader of the family
business is strong, then the chance of the business to succeed will surely be very high. The first
thing is that the good leader must have the stamina and the passion to lead. Besides that, the
leader must have a wide knowledge of the economy and also the industry itself so that he or she
can direct a most beneficial way for the family business to approach and also giving a sense of
common purpose. Lastly, the leader must have power to control the people in the family business
and tell them what is the plan and what they need to do.
The last challenge and issue that affects the family businesses in Malaysia is fair compensation
which also includes fair treatment to the people involved in the family business. The reason why
this is a common issue in family business is because that the family members always tend to treat
their own family member better and they also make bias decision most of the time. The most
common problem is the payment and the salary of the people in family business. People who are

Why I Hate Running
Although I hate running just as much as the next sane person, there is still a place that I can go
that makes me fall in love with running just as a toddler might with just about anything that
shines or squeaks: McAleer Road. To most people Mcaleer road is part of their daily routine to
get them to and from their job or to drop the children off at school; however, to me it is an
escape. I can run the road down and back in under a half hour in real time but to me it will feel
like centuries. While running on this specific road time seems to slow down; I have all the time
in the world to clear my mind and think deeper about events that have occurred in my life and in
the world around me. Often times I find myself analyzing books or other... Show more content on

As I neared the middle my legs began to feel as though someone just poured a hip high level of
cement and I had to try to run through it. After realizing the immense pain my legs were in, I
soon realized that my lungs were the next thing to go. Just imagine having your lungs shrivel up
into the size of a pea and that is only part of the pain my body betrayed me with. As I neared the
halfway point on the seventh tenths of a mile long hill, I felt relieved that I was finally able to
run on a lower grade once more. For those who have not experienced this feeling, just imagine the
feeling you get when the pizza deliveryman finally arrives at your house with your steaming hot
and delicious pizza. Now combine that feeling with the excitement of a small child running
down the stairs on Christmas. The child, having received all he ever imagined and more, is
overcome with such emotion which causes him to burst with laughter. This combination of
feelings is nowhere near how ecstatic I was to end my uphill journey. This excitement is short
lived as I once more continue my trek up the agonizing hill. Only three steps from the plateau, I
felt like I should just give up. At this point, a two week old baby would have a better chance of
running up the rest of the hill than I did; however, I remembered a story that I used to read as a
child. There was no particular reason for this memory

The Garment and Textile Industry in Bangladesh Essay
Case 3
Professor
September 3, 2014
Bangladesh is a south Asian country and has an approximate population reaching 164 million. The
manufacturing industry is what Bangladesh is known for. That industry also accounted for almost
12% of GDP in 2009 and 2010 with employing over four million people (The Bangladesh Accord
Foundation, 2014). The labor force is made up of young, urbanizing, mainly women. Bangladesh
accounts for approximately 78% total exports (The Bangladesh Accord Foundation, 2014), which is
second to China.

Bilateral agreements with 28 countries and Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) of the EU
are key reasons for Bangladesh RMG products having access to global markets (Board of
Investment Bangladesh, 2012).
Best alternative
The best alternative would be improve the infrastructure, and increase the price of exporting, but
still lower than any other country. Bangladesh would make a larger profit and could put more
money on fixed and creating the ports and roads which in return will make it easier for the buying
countries. If the prices continue to stay low, the country may not have enough money for
infrastructure. Bangladesh would have more money to help with the electricity outages which can
also help business buy producing more and exporting more.
Implementation plan The implementation would be analyzing the competitions textile export
prices, and then increase the price to keep it right below the competition. This will allow
Bangladesh to gain more profit and place that into infrastructure. They would also want to focus on
the electricity so labor improves and more textiles can be made. This plan will allow for easier
flowing importing and most importantly exporting. This will also create a better working
environment in the textile mills and will create more production.

Comparing The Gospels Of Saint Willibrord And Four...
The comparison between Symbol of Matthew from the Gospels of Saint Willibrord and Four
Evangelists from the Aachen Gospels demonstrates the contrast between the less realistic period of
the dark ages with the more realistic style of the Carolingian period. Art from the Dark ages focuses
very little on naturalistic portrayal of human figures, but instead puts high importance on geometric
decorative patterns. The Carolingian period began moving away from that, and artist started painting
figures with more realism. The extremely unrealism verse the early signs of realism is first evident
by the differences in spatial depth. The artist of Symbol of Matthew used no spatial depth at all. It
was common trait of the time for the figures to be complete two dimensional, drawn only by
connecting lines. The Four... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artist of the Dark Ages did not use spatial depth, so the focus would be on the surrounding pattern
and how it interacted with the figure. There was a strong interest in elaborate patterns during this
time, that were often lines interlacing with one another, much like the surround board of Symbol
of Matthew. This trait was mostly thrown out during the later Carolingian Period. Another
comparison of the two pieces that reflected the change in realism in this different body types. In
Symbol of Matthew, the only parts of the human figure that the artist chose to paint are the
symmetric front face head, and his two hands. The rest of his body is covered by a geometric
cloak made up of three sections. The artist clearly had more interest in anatomy in the Four
Evangelist. It goes along with the spatial depth, but there is also signs of model, shadowing, and
highlighting to the figures which much more realistic. The Carolingian figures also

Toaster Oven Essay
We have all had days where we just need one little piece of toast browned to perfection and not
have to turn on an entire oven and heat up the whole kitchen in the process. Or other times when
you have a house full coming over, and it seems as if you need just more oven rack to bake the
rolls on or to keep a dish warm while the meat finishes up cooking. Or maybe, it is a summer
evening and a pizza sounds amazing except the kitchen is still blazing from a record setting heat
wave blasting through, and the last thing you want to do is generate more heat in your kitchen.
The list of examples could go on and on as to why a toaster oven is an extremely essential kitchen
appliance to own alongside your conventional oven. Its small size, versatile ... Show more content

Along with saving money on energy because of its stature, the small size allows the toaster oven to
fit just about anywhere in the kitchen. Due to its compact size, a toaster oven can sit on top of
other appliances or on countertops, making it an easy appliance to place in the kitchen.
The size you choose determines what items you can cook inside. Obviously, the larger the toaster
oven, the higher the cost. However, considering you can use your toaster oven in much the same
way you can use a conventional oven, investing in a larger toaster oven is prudent.
Different Cooking Elements
Toaster ovens have various cooking elements, depending on what you are looking for. Many of
them come with a convection function. This means generated heat is continually circulated
throughout the oven by means of a fan. The movement creates an even cooking environment,
ensuring that the top and the bottom are cooked evening. That means heat spots are eliminated:
one area of a pan of cookies does not cook more than another. Convection ovens also cut cooking
down by almost a third, saving you not only time but also electricity and of course,

Designing A Tower Under The Clock
For this project our group was tasked with designing a tower under the parameters of a 40 cm
height minimum and 10 x 10 cm tower base minimum using bass wood and wood glue. The overall
aim was ultimately to design a tower with the greatest mass to weight ratio. The following consists
of the procedures, results, and conclusions of our designing, constructing, and testing stages.
After the tower was completed the mass of the structure was calculated to be at around 29.2 g
(0.06437498 lbs). Through the use of sand and metal weights (i.e. 8 lbs, 15 lbs, and/or 25 lbs) the
structure withheld a force of around 102 lbs until the upper half of the tower snapped. The weight
held by the structure was divided into 62 lbs of metal weights and 40 lbs ... Show more content on

The building was created as a triangle since it would require less material and would be quicker to
create than building a four sided building.
The building stayed the same height through the sections and we felt that that would be the most
stable since the building would be able to compress upon itself instead of having to spend more
time to try and create a stable design that could withstand the forces. Even though we may be able
distribute weight with a larger base it would weigh more with a ratio that s not as good as what
we have or a ratio that has increased but compared with the effort and materials that we would need
it wouldn t be worth it.
The most difficult part of the construction was trying to connect the wall at a 60В° angle without
letting it fall on itself and keeping an even space through the tower. On the first attempt we
unfortunately broke the first section of the building and noticed the glue didn t glue at connection
where the wood would meet but around the wood. After connecting the two pieces together it was
simple to finish the tower but it involved a lot of waiting time since we weren t able to move on
when we connected the wall since it was unstable since the glue wasn t dry.
Another major difficulty we had was the large amounts of time spent waiting for the glue to dry.
The tedium of having to deal with not being able to work on anything else until the structure had

Killer Whales Kept in Captivity Essay
For several years, Americans have been visiting amusement parks, like SeaWorld and Six Flags,
to observe large animals like orcas, also known as killer whales. These whales are quite difficult
to view in the wild, but can now be seen for a simple fee. Orcas are known to be one of the
smartest mammals. They are friendly, and this has caused people to take advantage of them. For
the past sixty years, people have brought these massive creatures into their aquariums to make a
profit from their exhibitions. Often, without considering the orcas quality of life. While kept in

In 2010, Tillikum killed Dawn Brancheau, as described in a recent news article: The SeaWorld
trainer, he crushed, dismembered, and partially swallowed (Brower). Tillikum grabbed the
trainer and dragged her into the water. After seeing these incidents occur, people have urged
SeaWorld to ban these activities. Permitting such activities will create more problems that can
cause the injury and death of more people like Dawn, who love and cared for the animals. Some
people argue that keeping orcas in captivity is not a problem, yet they do not realize some of the
limitations and dangers orcas suffer when kept in captivity. One reason is that these
unpredictable, thirty foot long creatures are usually kept in a tank that is too small for them,
compared to the ocean where they can swim freely. In captivity, space is limited. According to
one expert, orcas can swim up to 100 miles per day a phenomenal amount, in comparison to the
exercise they receive in captivity (Cronin). While in captivity, an orca has to keep swimming in
circles or float, unable to exercise adequately in a confined space. The small tanks also prevent
orcas from living in their natural group sizes, or pods. In the wild, killer whales typically travel in
pods of between five and 30 (Melissa). In captivity, fewer than five whales are kept together, an
imbalance that makes the whales more aggressive towards one another. This can lead to dangerous,
territorial situations in which captive

(CT) in detecting pathologies associated with vertigo. The common two types of vertigo peripheral
and central vertigo are defined. Previous studies suggest that both MR and CT are good options for
detecting semicircular dehiscence syndrome related peripheral vertigo. Although the accuracy rates
of MR and CT are comparable in detecting acute intracranial hemorrhage, MR has an overall higher
diagnostic yield for stroke and multiple sclerosis related central vertigo. In clinical practice,

In their study, 217 of 356 patients had a final clinical diagnosis of acute stroke. 27 of these
patients were diagnosed with acute intracranial hemorrhage. MR detected this condition in 23
patients compared with CT in 25 patients. 190 of the patients were diagnosed with acute
ischemia. MR correctly identified 164 patients compared with 35 in CT. Table 1 summarizes the
statistics of these data (Chalela et al., 2007). In comparison with the final clinical diagnosis,
MRI had a higher sensitivity of 83% and a specificity of 97% for diagnosis of acute stroke,
compared with 26% and 98% respectively for CT. For acute intracranial hemorrhage, MRI had a
sensitivity of 81% and a specificity of 100%, compared with 89% and 100% respectively for CT.
For acute ischemia, MRI had a sensitivity of 83% and a specificity of 96%, compared with 16%
and 98% respectively for CT (Chalela et al., 2007). Chalela s findings are consistent with previous
literature. In Viirre and Nelson s study, they have also found that CT and MRI have similar
sensitivity for detecting hemorrhage. In addition, they have also found that MRI has superior
sensitivity of 83% compared to 26% for CT when detecting ischemia (Nelson and Viirre, 2009).

The Tower Of The Ruins Of Jericho
Stairs are one of the oldest structures in architectural history. They have always been an
important part of a building or structure because without them you wouldn t be able to get from
the bottom to the top or vice versa. There is no actual answer of when the very first set of stairs
was created. But there has been several sources say that the oldest surviving stairs are found in
the ruins of Jericho. There are claims that these stairs are over 7,000 years old. This could mean
that stairs were at the very birth of civilization itself. One of the first types of stairs used in
history were not made on purpose but were just worn down when they were used as rocks to
climb on or foot holes to get around easier. There was a time when chopped wood trunks
constructed together to make levels, but these were not used in buildings, they were used to

The Most Convincing Approach For many years Western nations in Europe and North America had
wanted to expand their trade with Japan and China; however, the people of the two Asian countries
believed that the Westerners were barbarians with useless goods and religious beliefs that would
challenge their traditions. Up until the 1800s, Japan and China had successfully restricted the
influence of Western nations within their countries. Their ability to remain isolated from
Westerners, however, quickly faded throughout the 1800s when the modernized Western nations
grew more powerful and demanding. Due to trying to stay isolated from Western ideas and

Feng Guifen s first good idea in his plan was to learn how to build better ships and guns from the
Westerners, or barbarians as he liked to call them. He realized that China was turning into a weak
country from being isolated from Western ideas. In the beginning of his article, Feng said that the
Chinese were inferior to the barbarians (Feng 357). By this time, China had already been
humiliatingly defeated by the British in the Opium War, which showed that China lacked a strong
military and advanced technology ( Plotting East Asia s Future 352). To remedy this, he proposed
hiring Westerners to teach intelligent Chinese how to build strong ships and effective guns (Feng
357). Without having the military force or advanced weaponry and ships, China would be crushed
again and again like it was in the Opium War and the later Sino Japanese War, which is known as
another humiliating Chinese defeat (Tignor 659). To have a powerful nation at that time, a strong
military with weapons was needed. Feng knew that in order to gain the needed military strength, the
Chinese were going to have to learn from Westerners on how to build better ships and guns.
Two other authors also proposed reforming the military. For example, Ii Naosuke, one of the
Japanese writers, had the similar idea of learning from foreigners. In his case, he wanted to employ
Dutchmen as masters and mariners and put Japanese on board to study their guns, ships, and how
they navigate

The Birth Of A Moral Dilemma
The Birth of a Moral Dilemma in The Guest People choose every day in different circumstances
and degrees either small imperceptible one, such as the color of the shirt that they will wear, or
huge emotional and moral dilemmas like an abort or a high risk surgery. Nonetheless, there is
always a decision made that has its consequences (want or not). Albert Camus uses
characterization to address the importance of choices. The author uses the character of Balducci

Balducci arrives into the school to leave the Arab with Daru, and Daru shows himself discontent
with that unforeseen problem, he says, Those are the orders (Camus). Balducci as a man of law
must follow whatever thing is said to him, and he will do it for sure without dubiety; in addition,
Balducci remarks, [Y]ou must sign, that s the rule (Camus). He has to obey all the requisites
and commandments that his work dictates, and he can t avoid doing this because he will break
all the goodness that justice represents. Nevertheless, Camus tries to point out if a person who
only follow a guide or manual for every decision he or she made. That person is, in fact, making
no choices, and he or she does not have to face and think about what is right or wrong because
that person will search and do whatever is said in that guide. Particularly, in this story, Balducci

Anarchist opposition of Nozick s minimal state is founded on the argument that the minimal state is

This argument follows that because there is an imbalance in the distribution of resources, those
who do not have the resources have some limits to living good lives. However, Nozick argues that
this kind of distributive justiceis not fair. This is because resources are initially acquired or produced
by individuals and are not distributed. The distribution by the state would amount to redistribution

Numbers In Hinduism
Chapter 11: The Importance of Numbers in Hinduism
The scriptures state that numbers ranging from 0 to 10 have a symbolic importance for Hindus.
They are associated with some of the key principles and gods of the religion. According to
historical records, the Hindus developed the number system so they can systematically arrange
their knowledge regarding the gods and the theories of creation. This chapter will provide you with
some examples as to how numbers were used in Hindu ceremonies.
Thousands of years ago, Indian citizens were so religious. They worshipped and prayed to
different gods on a daily basis. They believed that the ultimate goal of a person s existence is to
attain freedom from the repetitive cycle of births and deaths. Also, they thought that withdrawal
from the society and abandonment of responsibilities were never needed to establish a relationship
with the divine beings. Happiness and wealth were important for Hindus but they didn t consider
these as goals. They focused their time and effort on achieving freedom from the illusions created
by Maya. In order to attain this liberation, they lived their lives and performed their tasks without
any hint of passion. They consider the gods as their saviors, guardians, guides, and witnesses.
Because they needed to present their knowledge about the divine in an understandable manner, they

Analysis Of Harrah Entertainment, Inc.
Introduction Harrah Entertainment, Inc. is a multifaceted business with large scope of services.
They compete in 23 locations to be viewed as best service driven and customer driven organization
for their hotel accommodations, gambling experience, entertainment offerings, food and beverage
options and quality. In many locations, competition is steep causing tight markets and desire to win
an edge. Other competitors focus on outshining and glamorizing their amenities to attract and
captivate the market (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). Harrah s approach is much different; they
focus on marketing based attraction and consider their bread and butter to be in guest services and
consumer satisfaction. Harrah s model has historically relied heavily on its people to accomplish
their goals of gaining market share, increase operating profits and revenue through creating
memorable experiences for happy, hungry and tired guests (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The
senior leadership within Harrah Entertainment, Inc. feel compelled to, and recognizes the need to
look inward at its staff to better equip and motivate them with a meaningful compensation strategy
to support and achieve their overarching goals. The method currently in place is a customer
satisfaction driven gainsharing bonus plan (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The question at hand,
are they dealing the right deck of cards to their employees to continue to meet and exceed the
goals? In this paper, key players within

Navajo
Running Head: Nation within a Nation
Amy Lamb
Ashford University
ANT 101
Instructor Rebekah Zinser
July 29th 2013
The Navajo, also known as Dine`, are some of the first Indians who set foot in America. The
primary mode of subsistence for any culture means a way of supporting life. The Navajo s
primary modes of subsistence are pastoralists. How does a pastoralist society impact beliefs and
values, healing and sickness, and kinship of the Navajo culture? These are the three aspects I plan
to discuss and prove that the Navajo Nation is a Nation within a Nation. The Navajo Nation is a
semi autonomous Native American governed territory covering 27,425 square miles, occupying
portions of northeastern Arizona, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early twentieth century oil and gas lead the US government to form a Navajo business
council. Herbert J. Hagerman was hired by the US government to lead Navajo tribal councils and
run the meetings. (Lee, 2010) In the 1940 s the Navajo nation changed tremendously. They no
longer raised sheep or livestock, instead thousands of Navajo people went off to find wage labor to
supplement their income instead. The tribal council industrialized itself. (Lee, 2007) In the
1970 s the Navajo nation was reorganized and the reservation had someone in control of the
nation. Peter MacDonald was elected chairman of the council and made new powers direct the
Navajo government. In 1998 the tribal council passed a Navajo Nation Local Governance Act
that allowed local matters to be made by local level people, allowing more local authority. The
current government structure is now an agency to the Navajo society, yet it is non Navajo
nature, and the people of Navajo have never sanctioned it. Today the Navajo Nation doesn t have
the self sufficient powers it once did. Congress and US Supreme courts have limited the powers
of the tribal government. . Today, Supreme Court decisions still keep the Native Americans from
having their ability to self determine, and give the Native Americans limited sovereignty. (Lee,
2007) The Navajo s believe there are the Earth people and the Holy people. They are believers of
the body being a part of sacred

Banning Burmese Pythons
Should having a Burmese python as a pet be banned? These pythons are capable of getting up to
23 feet long and weigh up to 200 pounds by the age of only two years old. When having a snake
that can get that long, many people think they have no other choice but to let the snake go when
they get much bigger and become hard to take care of. Are these snakes worth a $100 fee? I think
that Burmese pythons should not be allowed to be pets: to prevent horrible incidents, to prevent
negative effects in the Everglades, and to stop them from taking over Florida. Do you even
wonder how Burmese Pythons get here? Millions of pythons have been imported to the United
States over the past three decades. These snakes were never a major problem till 2002. At... Show

Also this year, the South Florida Water Management District petitioned the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service to add Burmese pythons to a modest list of injurious wildlife maintained under
the 107 year old Lacey Act (Snow). These snakes have been an enormous problem in Florida
from taking over land, killing off animals that are native to Florida, as well as making the
community afraid of going outside. Research shows even though most people don t like the
thought of the Burmese pythons. Molecular biologist Leslie Leinwand has found that the blood
of Burmese contains three molecules that rapidly strengthen heart muscle (King). These snakes
are able to help all kinds of people from damaged hearts. That may change the mind of people
who dislike the Burmese pythons. In conclusion, I still feel as if Burmese pythons should not be
allowed to be pets: to prevent horrible incidents, to prevent negative effects in the Everglades, and
to stop them from taking over Florida. These snakes should have their own habitat away from any
other animals. As well as secure and away from any adults and children. This will keep endangered
animals and non endangered animals from becoming

Gurian Chapter 1 Summary
Gurian presented six differences between males and females in Chapter 1, including chemical,
hormonal, and emotion processing, and how they influence an individuals learning process. The
chemicals serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, vasopressin, estrogen and testosterone are processed
differently in males and females. Males have 52 percent more serotonin, which regulates mood and
anxiety levels, than females. Females with lower serotonin levels often suffer from depression,
while males are often identified as Attention Deficit. Another chemical, dopamine, a
neurotransmitter, controls the brain s reward and pleasure centers as well as helping to regulate
movement and emotional responses. Dopamine can be stimulated differently in males and females
effecting movement, increased chances of addiction, difficulty with paying attention, impulsivity,
and more sensation seeking individuals dependent upon their concentrations. Although, oxytocin,
vasopressin, estrogen and testosteroneare chemicals produced by the body, they are created by
hormones. The hormonal differences in males and females include levels of oxytocin, estrogen,
progesterone, testosterone, and vasopressin. Oxytocin is more functionally present in females,
which assists them with bonding and maintaining relationships. The level of femalehormones,
estrogen and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Thoughts On My Life
Ok so I needed a little help to focus my thoughts so I used google and found a blog that was very
helpful. The writer Kat Lee said, one of my greatest fears in life is that I will be the same person
at 76 that I am at 36; that I will have the same hangups as an older woman that I had as a younger
woman. I think that is my same fear. When I moved to Oklahoma I wanted to reinvent myself, I
didn t wantto be the same girl with the same hangups both in life and spiritually. I thoughtnew place
fresh start.
As you already know it takes a lot for me to reach out and put myself on full display. I have a
difficulty opening up and putting my feelings/thoughts into words. From the short while I ve
known you I feel like you are a person I can break down those walls and be truly honest without the
fear of judgement.
I have so many questions to ask you about your life. You are not much older than me but you
have lived life. You married a wonderful man at a young age and you have a sweet little boy.
You are on fire for the Lord and it shows through your actions. So maybe you can help me clear
some of my obstacles that are in my life by learning from you who might have already cleared or
gone through those obstacle in your life.
I can be a very critical toward myself and get overwhelmed by the things I need to change or
improve on and end up doing nothing to change. I want to be the best person I can be. I go to my
mom but she gives those generic mom answers. I want an outside

The Shaw Festival And The Show Itself
Part 1: The Shaw festival and the show itself.
History of Shaw festival and Doherty and Rand
Shaw s works were only sporadically performed before 1962. This changed when lawyer Brian
Doherty offered up the idea of having a theatre company attributed to Shaw the way Stratford was
to Shakespeare. The company was created as A salute to shaw to help give the town a financial
boost. In the year of 1962 Doherty was named both artistic director and producer bring the shows
Don Juan in Hell and Candida to the stage. Throughout all of the changes in titles Doherty worked
on A salute to shaw that produced a major milestone on June 12, 1973. That milestone being the
opening of the new Shaw Festival theatre by Queen Elizabeth herself. During this time Calvin Rand
arts Professor from the University of Buffalo became president of the company and help move the
company forward.

Physician Chart Completion Analysis
Physician Chart Completion
I worked with Luis Ortiz in the Physician Chart Completion area for the first half of my second
day. Luis was very welcoming even though Wednesdays are a challenge for him. Every
Wednesday he gets a list of deficient charts ready for the director of HIM, analysis staff and the
resident coordinator. Luis asked me to take a seat for a few minutes while he gathered his report.
This was perfect for me, it gave me a chance to work on my hospital profile work and I prepared
my questions for him during this time. Once he was ready for me, he opened Care Connection to
show me the list of discharges he needed to work on. He opened random discharge summaries to

coding software. Mr. Bodunde first gave me an indebt explanation of what his duties and
responsibilities are and the expectation management has for production. Once introductions
were complete, he proceeded to code. Mr. Bodunde is an outpatient coder who codes Emergency
Room charts as well as Obstetrics/Gynecology. He coded a few charts to show me how to use
3M to code and let me take over. I have to say the basics that were instilled in me in coding class
came in handy for this experience. I was able to capture clinical data from the patient charts with
80% accuracy with his guidance. Once I gained momentum I was able to move quicker through
the charts. We started with the Obstetrics charts and worked our way to the ER charts. The ER
charts were a bit more complex since more clinical data needed to be captured to tell the story. I

Understanding contemporary organisational structures and contemporary people management
practices.
Introduction
For centuries organizations in business, government and military treat human resources either as
part of a leadership team driving the business or mission while others are expendable in war as
soldiers or clerks requiring ongoing direction and scientific systems in place (Taylor 1911).
Aristole around 384 BC said this eloquently Some are by nature free, others are by nature slaves.
The condition of slavery is both beneficial and just (Aristotle in Kuhn 2009, pg. 10). Around nearly

Common Problems College Students Face Overcoming Adversity
Every college student wants their experience to be memorable, but in the right way. High school
students envision their college years will be full of fun, new social encounters, new experiences,
and fond memories. However, there are also many problems college students face throughout their
years there, and how they deal with them is essential in their academic, emotional, physical, and
social success.
Here are some common problems and some possible solutions for working through them.
Finances One of the major challenges college students face is that of finances. Many students drop
out prior to graduation because they cannot afford the cost. Some have help from parents, others
have financial aid, but still with the rising cost of tuition, textbooks, room and board, gasoline,
clothing, and other necessities, the challenge is often a difficult one to overcome.

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Robotics Despite being stereotyped as nerdy by many, robotics is a rewarding extracurricular that can be beneficial to anyone. Robotics is a program centralized around STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Today, many schools will have a robotics program, most of which are run by either VEX or FIRST. All of these programs are centralized around a team working together to build a robotto the best of their ability to score as many points as possible. All the while, participants also learn teamwork and technical skills that can be applied to the real world. I have been a part of VEX Robotics Competition for three years, and prior to that participated in FIRST Lego League for five years. Throughout this essay, I will mainly focus on VEX Robotics Competition, as that is the program that I am currently a part of. STEM and robotics programs in schools must become more available and receive more time and attention because they help train students for engineering fields which are steadily growing, assist students in being accepted into colleges, and transform lessons in school into practical, real world skills. To begin, engineering fields have shown consistent growth, so it is important that students are prepared for pursuing these fields. Experience early on with practical skills in a robotics club setting can give students an edge if they choose to go into engineering. For this reason, it is important that robotics be available to as many students as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Work As A Social Worker There are many helping professions. Society has doctors, therapist, teachers, nurses, etc. To help means to assist, which means to serve. Every business has the infrastructure to serve a need presented for whatever motives lay behind the person s reasoning. What makes social work idiosyncratic unlike the rest is the willingness and passion to promote human well being. I yearn and hunger to see growth of what is already innate. That is the reason psychology became my undeclared major. My ignorance of the social work role did create misconceptions and fears. I knew I had to be in some helping profession. I was not sure if I would do so through occupational therapy, psychology, teaching, or social work. I wanted to be a social worker, but I was afraid of the danger associated with it by giving way to stereotypes. No one wants to be shot or harassed due to taking someone s child from a terrible environment. This is what I defined social work as. I was a psychology major with a niche for social and child developmental psychology. I as three years into the Bachelor of Science Psychology program and I began to develop a distaste for psychology methodology. The field appeared to be competitive and only research or clinical driven, which I believed confine the goals I set for myself. I was tired of rehearing the same old man psychological theories that had a narrow scope. The competition was not intimidating, but it was unnecessary and defeating to turn out rates of ... Toothbrush manufacturers have poured millions of dollars and hours, to marry form and function in oral health care products that enable their users to brush frequently, comfortably, and above all, properly. Along the way, they have built the U.S. oral care market into a $2.9 billion industry, changed the brushing habits of millions and turned the lowly toothbrush into a trendy lifestyle accessory. As the consumers are becoming more concerned about the health of their teeth, the toothbrush companies are focusing on helping them have an optimal dental health, and offering various types of toothbrush; to do this they must be all the time focused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3. What are the arguments for launching Precision as a) a niche product and b) a mainstream brand? В•Launching Precision as a niche product: Niche positioning focuses on customers who care about the prevention of gum diseases. As such, it could command a 15% price premium over Oral B and would be expected to capture 3% of the U.S. toothbrush market by the end of the first year following its launch. Steinberg believed that with a niche positioning, Precision retail sales would represent 3% volume share of the toothbrush market in year 1 and 5% in year. Under a niche positioning strategy, Steinberg decided that CP would establish a factory list price to the trade of $2.13, a premium over Oral B regular and at parity with Oral B Indicator. If the company decided to position the Precision toothbrush as a niche product many positive benefits would appear: 1.Precision toothbrush is more advanced and is characterized for its technological superiority over its competitors. Because of that, Colgate Palmolive can be able to differentiate and promote something new to the market. 2.Colgate Palmolive would be able to charge premium prices if targeting to customers who are worried about gum diseases. 3.If the company decided to position the Precision toothbrush as a niche product SKU s would not decrease. 4.In case of failure of Precision, Colgate could reduce the losses if costs were to decrease. Nelson Mandela was also known to be a leader of a civil rights organization known as the African National Congress. The purpose of the African National Congress was to demolish racial segregation and discrimination. In 1993, Nelson Mandela was elected the first multi racial president of South Africa. During his term, he created a new constitution of law that declared majority rule and South Africa became racially united. Every race was granted their human rights in South Africa thanks to the hard work and struggles of Nelson Mandela, and his work was recognized nationally. Nelson Mandela later worked on economic improvement within South Africa and focused on issues such as poverty and AIDS. Racial segregation and discrimination was also occurring in other parts of the world besides South Africa. Martin Luther King Jr. was a colored pastor from Montgomery, Alabama who shared a similar vision as Nelson Mandela. Martin Luther King Jr. had a vision that he could live in a world where race did not affect how others treated you and or how you lived your life. The two most significant political changes made by Martin Luther King Jr. were the abolishment of racial segregation and the granting of civil rights and equality for Negroes. Martin Luther King Jr. started a revolution in the 1950 s and 1960 s. Martin Luther King Jr. believed in change. He wanted to put an end to the Jim Crow laws which gave Negroes economic, educational, and social disadvantages. These laws made white people more superior than the blacks. • 6. Frank Abagnale s Outlaw Life Frank Abagnale s outlaw life was forced at age 16 when he decided to get away from his family and faced life by his own. He was born in New York, Bronxville, and he was the third of four kids. His parents got divorced, and his mother got full custody of him. He decided to live with his father because he was the most affected by the divorce. Here is when he started his life as a juvenile delinquent. As Seal stated the outlaw hero is forced to defy the law or what passes for it by oppressive and unjust forces or interests (74). There were several reasons that lead Abagnale to choose an outlaw life. The first reason was that Frank felt frustration seeing his father breaking down spiritually, economically, and physically. His family meant a lot to him, and he wasn t comfortable with his parent s separation. He thought that acting like a delinquent and getting into problems will bring his parents back together again due to the absence of attention, but it never happened. He felt that his happy life was taken away by his own parents at the time that they decided to separate. The feeling of losing his family and his happy life obligated Abagnale to start his life as a juvenile delinquent. The second reason and the most important was that he started to faced life as the way it is, hard, and cruel. When he decided to get away from home, he had to pay rent, bills, and all of his expenses. He had a job, but he wasn t making enough money to maintain himself. The feeling to resolve ... I was not frustrated with anything or anyone, I was calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up even more. During the first video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of the animation and the story line. As for the violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to turn away a few times. I think that there was an excessive amount of gore that could have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or the gamers like it. The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some sort of story line beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a person killing people in many different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn t actually see anything too graphic, but just the idea of people enjoying this game made me a little scared for our society. Though I had almost no interest in these videos and found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught myself on the thought that by the time I was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence portrayed in these videos. If the first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last video had no effect on me at all. I believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. • 9. Similarities Between Captain America And Beowulf When someone thinks of a superhero, they think of someone that is strong and immortal. Someone that can t be defeated yet, they go into battle with as much bravery as someone that goes into battle knowing they CAN be defeated. Every superhero has traits that make them great, but they also differ in many things as well. Although Captain Americaand Beowulf are similar in their weaknesses, strengths, and bravery, they also differ in their motivations, character traits, and heroics, making Captain America the better hero. All superheroes have weaknesses. Whether it s physically or mentally, they all have weaknesses that they struggle with that try to prevent them from being the best that they can be. Captain America and Beowulf share a similar weakness of the ability to get mortally wounded, due to the fact that they are both regular human beings. The advantage of Captain America though is that, due to the soldier serum, Captain America s age is slowed down (Frost). This is so important because this was a major factor in why Beowulf died. Because Beowulf was growing old, he wasn t as strong as he used to be. Therefore he wasn t strong enough to fight the dragon (Beowulf 800 805). Unlike Beowulf, Captain America s slow aging advantage will allow him to have strength and abilities that will allow him to fight for a long time. Just as superheroes have weaknesses, they all have strengths too. Although it is said that Beowulf is, ...greater and stronger than anyone in this world, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many factors can influence the market such as war, inflation, and recession. Market risk is measured by the firm s beta coefficient to determine the effects the market has on the portfolio. In addition to market risk, there are two forms of risk that managers use to calculate the risk of a particular project related to holding a diversified portfolio. Rape, homicide, distribution/using of illegal substance, assault, burglary, breaking and entering, possession of unregistered firearm, etc. are some examples of traditional crime. Just like traditional crime, cybercrime is inevitable and unavoidable as long as computers and the internet are around. It can pick and choose its victims at random and although there are ways to lessen the chances, it is still virtually inescapable. Robbing a bank traditionally meant isolated incidents at individual banks. Cybercrime opens new doors to criminals where they have the power to defraud entire institutions in way that would not have been possible traditionally. (Carnaghan, 2013). According to Semansky (2016), Dr. Bernard, who serves as the university s special advisor, diversity and inclusiveness, [is] the first African Nova Scotian woman to serve in the Senate Chamber (para. 2). In response to the news, Bernard has stated that equity for all is [her] primary goal in life. To be able to enter the Senate with that perspective and contribute to the country is an incredible privilege, one that [she] knows [she] will be accountable for (Semansky, 2016, para. 7). While Trudeau has named diversity as a priority within the Canadian Parliament,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this section, I will briefly discuss the effects of Trudeau s Senate reforms and argue that reform is better than abolishment. Trudeau s three phased Senate reforms give minority group leaders an opportunity to represent their communities. The reforms attempt to shift the focus from gaining support for the Liberal party, to a collection of different and diverse minds within the Senate. The first phase of the reforms focused on the [removal of] all senators from the national Liberal caucus , which inherently suggested that senators [no longer] have formal or organic ties with the Liberal caucus, nor do they have any organizational, financial or other formal responsibilities within the Liberal Party (Dion, 2015, para. 5). Going from there, the [creation of] a new, nonpartisan, merit based, broad and diverse process to advise the prime minister on Senate appointments was the second item on the agenda (Dion, 2015, para. 6). Finally, the third phase targeted the inclusion of marginalized groups, such as women and minorities, in the Senate (Dion, 2015). Therefore, Trudeau s appointments are changing the direction of the Senate to include historically oppressed minorities and their representatives. That being stated, one particular argument that has been raised in opposition to Senate reforms is that the upper house is no longer relevant and should be abolished (Maclean s, 2013). I have never bought a car before, nor witnessed anyone buy one, so this was an entirely new experience for me. I chose to negotiate for a car for two reasons. First, I can t negotiate for something more typical like a raise or lower rent because of my circumstances. Second, I will probably buy a car within the next few years, so I thought this would be a beneficial experience for me. After negotiating for the car, I think this experience has helped me improve my negotiation skills by showing me things I do well, areas I can improve, and tactics the salesman used against me. To prepare for my negotiation, I used a variety of websites including the dealership s own site, Kelly Blue Book, Carfax, Cars.com, and the NADA s website to research various automobiles and their respective prices. Once I completed my research, which took approximately five hours, I went to the dealership within a week. I walked in and asked to speak to the sales manager Mike Murphy, but he immediately passed me off to one of the other sales representatives, Matt Townsend. I showed Matt the car I was interested in, a 2013 Chevy Malibu LT, and he took me on a test drive. When we returned from the test drive, we went to his cubicle and began negotiating the price of the automobile. He explained the various fees and taxes on the car the brought the price up to $17,025.82 from the $14,799 for the car alone. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The continuous cycle of new cities and different countries hosting the games brings out great nationalism. The challenge to get a bid to host the Olympics has always been difficult but as the cost of the games rises the number of cities vying for it is decreasing. The Olympics are the biggest sporting event in the world, and they are one of the most well known events across the world. Being host to an event like this brings great revenue into a country s economy through tourism and the need for jobs and construction. But the Olympics are becoming very costly and countries are beginning to wonder if its worth it to host the party when they know they will not earn all the money back. As a young child, I attended a Spanish immersion program through my pre school and elementary school. I was absorbed into a new culture much different from my own. I grew up learning words in Spanish before I knew them in English. I also developed unexpected friendships, spending much of my childhood in Spanish speaking households. As a college student, I look back on this time and greatly appreciate the skills and lessons I cultivated from learning a second language. Second language educationshould be required in elementary schools. Learning a second languageleads children to become successful students with prosperous futures and connects people of different cultures. Studies have shown that students who receive second language education do better on standardized tests. A study conducted by P.W. Armstrong and J.D. Rogers in 1997 declared that third grade students who received thirty minute lessons in Spanish three times a week, scored higher on the Metropolitan Achievement Test in the subjects of math and language than their peers who did not receive Spanish education (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages). The overall aim was ultimately to design a tower with the greatest mass to weight ratio. The following consists of the procedures, results, and conclusions of our designing, constructing, and testing stages. After the tower was completed the mass of the structure was calculated to be at around 29.2 g (0.06437498 lbs). Through the use of sand and metal weights (i.e. 8 lbs, 15 lbs, and/or 25 lbs) the structure withheld a force of around 102 lbs until the upper half of the tower snapped. The building was created as a triangle since it would require less material and would be quicker to create than building a four sided building. The building stayed the same height through the sections and we felt that that would be the most stable since the building would be able to compress upon itself instead of having to spend more time to try and create a stable design that could withstand the forces. Even though we may be able distribute weight with a larger base it would weigh more with a ratio that s not as good as what we have or a ratio that has increased but compared with the effort and materials that we would need it wouldn t be worth it. The most difficult part of the construction was trying to connect the wall at a 60В° angle without letting it fall on itself and keeping an even space through the tower. On the first attempt we unfortunately broke the first section of the building and noticed the glue didn t glue at connection where the wood would meet but around the wood. After connecting the two pieces together it was simple to finish the tower but it involved a lot of waiting time since we weren t able to move on when we connected the wall since it was unstable since the glue wasn t dry. Another major difficulty we had was the large amounts of time spent waiting for the glue to dry. Permitting such activities will create more problems that can cause the injury and death of more people like Dawn, who love and cared for the animals. Some people argue that keeping orcas in captivity is not a problem, yet they do not realize some of the limitations and dangers orcas suffer when kept in captivity. One reason is that these unpredictable, thirty foot long creatures are usually kept in a tank that is too small for them, compared to the ocean where they can swim freely. In captivity, space is limited. According to one expert, orcas can swim up to 100 miles per day a phenomenal amount, in comparison to the exercise they receive in captivity (Cronin). While in captivity, an orca has to keep swimming in circles or float, unable to exercise adequately in a confined space. The small tanks also prevent orcas from living in their natural group sizes, or pods. In the wild, killer whales typically travel in pods of between five and 30 (Melissa). In captivity, fewer than five whales are kept together, an imbalance that makes the whales more aggressive towards one another. This can lead to dangerous, territorial situations in which captive ... Feng Guifen s first good idea in his plan was to learn how to build better ships and guns from the Westerners, or barbarians as he liked to call them. He realized that China was turning into a weak country from being isolated from Western ideas. In the beginning of his article, Feng said that the Chinese were inferior to the barbarians (Feng 357). By this time, China had already been humiliatingly defeated by the British in the Opium War, which showed that China lacked a strong military and advanced technology ( Plotting East Asia s Future 352). To remedy this, he proposed hiring Westerners to teach intelligent Chinese how to build strong ships and effective guns (Feng 357). Without having the military force or advanced weaponry and ships, China would be crushed again and again like it was in the Opium War and the later Sino Japanese War, which is known as another humiliating Chinese defeat (Tignor 659). To have a powerful nation at that time, a strong military with weapons was needed. Feng knew that in order to gain the needed military strength, the Chinese were going to have to learn from Westerners on how to build better ships and guns. Two other authors also proposed reforming the military. For example, Ii Naosuke, one of the Japanese writers, had the similar idea of learning from foreigners. There are also those who contend that the minimal state is too small and cannot facilitate the distribution of resources. Therefore, such a state cannot address the differences among citizens. This argument follows that because there is an imbalance in the distribution of resources, those who do not have the resources have some limits to living good lives. However, Nozick argues that this kind of distributive justiceis not fair. This is because resources are initially acquired or produced by individuals and are not distributed. • 40. Numbers In Hinduism Chapter 11: The Importance of Numbers in Hinduism The scriptures state that numbers ranging from 0 to 10 have a symbolic importance for Hindus. They are associated with some of the key principles and gods of the religion. According to historical records, the Hindus developed the number system so they can systematically arrange their knowledge regarding the gods and the theories of creation. This chapter will provide you with some examples as to how numbers were used in Hindu ceremonies. Thousands of years ago, Indian citizens were so religious. They worshipped and prayed to different gods on a daily basis. They believed that the ultimate goal of a person s existence is to attain freedom from the repetitive cycle of births and deaths. Also, they thought that withdrawal from the society and abandonment of responsibilities were never needed to establish a relationship with the divine beings. Happiness and wealth were important for Hindus but they didn t consider these as goals. They focused their time and effort on achieving freedom from the illusions created by Maya. In order to attain this liberation, they lived their lives and performed their tasks without any hint of passion. They consider the gods as their saviors, guardians, guides, and witnesses. Because they needed to present their knowledge about the divine in an understandable manner, they invented the concept of ... They compete in 23 locations to be viewed as best service driven and customer driven organization for their hotel accommodations, gambling experience, entertainment offerings, food and beverage options and quality. In many locations, competition is steep causing tight markets and desire to win an edge. Other competitors focus on outshining and glamorizing their amenities to attract and captivate the market (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). Harrah s approach is much different; they focus on marketing based attraction and consider their bread and butter to be in guest services and consumer satisfaction. Harrah s model has historically relied heavily on its people to accomplish their goals of gaining market share, increase operating profits and revenue through creating memorable experiences for happy, hungry and tired guests (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The senior leadership within Harrah Entertainment, Inc. feel compelled to, and recognizes the need to look inward at its staff to better equip and motivate them with a meaningful compensation strategy to support and achieve their overarching goals. The method currently in place is a customer satisfaction driven gainsharing bonus plan (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The primary mode of subsistence for any culture means a way of supporting life. The Navajo s primary modes of subsistence are pastoralists. How does a pastoralist society impact beliefs and values, healing and sickness, and kinship of the Navajo culture? These are the three aspects I plan to discuss and prove that the Navajo Nation is a Nation within a Nation. In the early twentieth century oil and gas lead the US government to form a Navajo business council. Herbert J. Hagerman was hired by the US government to lead Navajo tribal councils and run the meetings. (Lee, 2010) In the 1940 s the Navajo nation changed tremendously. They no longer raised sheep or livestock, instead thousands of Navajo people went off to find wage labor to supplement their income instead. The tribal council industrialized itself. (Lee, 2007) In the 1970 s the Navajo nation was reorganized and the reservation had someone in control of the nation. Peter MacDonald was elected chairman of the council and made new powers direct the Navajo government. In 1998 the tribal council passed a Navajo Nation Local Governance Act that allowed local matters to be made by local level people, allowing more local authority. The current government structure is now an agency to the Navajo society, yet it is non Navajo nature, and the people of Navajo have never sanctioned it. Today the Navajo Nation doesn t have the self sufficient powers it once did. Congress and US Supreme courts have limited the powers of the tribal government. . Today, Supreme Court decisions still keep the Native Americans from having their ability to self determine, and give the Native Americans limited sovereignty. • 44. Gurian Chapter 1 Summary Gurian presented six differences between males and females in Chapter 1, including chemical, hormonal, and emotion processing, and how they influence an individuals learning process. The chemicals serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, vasopressin, estrogen and testosterone are processed differently in males and females. Males have 52 percent more serotonin, which regulates mood and anxiety levels, than females. Females with lower serotonin levels often suffer from depression, while males are often identified as Attention Deficit. Another chemical, dopamine, a neurotransmitter, controls the brain s reward and pleasure centers as well as helping to regulate movement and emotional responses. Dopamine can be stimulated differently in males and females effecting movement, increased chances of addiction, difficulty with paying attention, impulsivity, and more sensation seeking individuals dependent upon their concentrations.
