Neorealist and Neo-Marxist Approaches to Globalization
Phuong tran university of sheffield | Critically compare the neorealist and neo Marxist approaches to
globalization. Which approach is most useful in your view? |
Neo realism
According to Jackson and Sorensen (2003), the leading contemporary neorealist thinker is
undoubtedly Kenneth Waltz (1979). His starting point is taken from some elements of classical and
neoclassical, such as independent state existing and performing in an anarchical international system.
Waltz s Theory of international Politics (1979) seeks to provide a scientific explanation of the
international political system. A scientific theory of international relations leads us to expect the
certain pattern that states to behave in predictable ways. In Waltz s view the ... Show more content on

International change takes place when great powers rise and fall and followed by the shift in the
balance of power (Jackson and Sorensen, 2003).
The international system is a self help system; states are obliged to look after themselves, because
there is no one else to look after them. Waltz does not assume that states are pursuing the increase in
their power and the importance of them between others states, necessarily aggressive body, but he
does believe that they desire to preserve themselves. This means that they are obliged to be considered
with their security, national defence and obliged to regard other states as potential threats (Brown,
2001).
Waltz believes that bipolar systems provide more stability and thus provide a better guarantee of
security and peace than multipolar systems. With only two great powers, both can be expected to
behave in a way to prolong the system (Waltz, 1979). That is because in maintaining the system they
are maintaining themselves. According to that view, the Cold War was a period of international
stability and peace. (Jackson and Sorensen, 2003)
Neo Marxism
The writings of Karl Marx (1818 83), according to Mingst (1999), are fundamental to the Marxist
school of thought, even though he did not directly state all the issues that are today encompassed by
Marxism. The theory of Marx on the evolution of capitalism based on economic change and class
conflict: the capitalism of nineteenth century

Oedipus (Aristotle 1961, p. 1453a). Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero comprises the character
Oedipus. Oedipus displays several qualities as a tragic hero to included the cause of his downfall.
Even though Oedipus is not known as a wise scholar, he did have the ability to outwit the Sphinx and
solve the riddle. This story of the Sphinx adds to his respect and sets up an emotional feel to like
Oedipus character. Oedipus earns sanctification as a King by saving the natives of Thebes, which
gains him more influence as he comes a consecrated King of the city. Even the Priest addresses
Oedipus by saying, Great Oedipus, O powerful King of Thebes (Sophocles 425, p. 860). Oedipus
character has sainthood like status. Even with his this status, Oedipus has a treacherous ethical
wrongdoing. He is in an incest relationship with his mother, despite not knowing she was his mother.
Using Aristotle s definition, Oedipus s downfall does not stem just from his evil. This downfall stems
from his pride and a combination of different issues.
One issue that contributes to Oedipus downfall is his anger. Oedipus becomes very angry when the
blind prophet warns him by saying, Am I to bear this from him? Damnation Take you! Out of this

Good And Evil Are Often Seen In Shades Of Black And White
Good and evil are often seen in shades of black and white in literary works, and their effects are
obvious: good is good and evil is evil. However, there are shades of gray within the spectrum of good
and evil, and this in between often has a great effect on the work as a whole, revealing important
themes and ideas. This gray area, when in relation to the actions and morals of a character, is called
moral ambiguity. A character that embodies moral ambiguity is Victor Frankenstein. While many of
Victor s actions could leave him to be considered evil, there are many reasons why Victor is morally
ambiguous and partially good, rather than purely evil. Examples of these reasons include Victor s
motivations for both creating the creature and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Victor has good intentions and hopes to benefit humanity with the creation of his creature, his
creature fails to live up to his expectations due to a lack of proper nurturing and care from Victor, and
ultimately becomes evil and commits heinous crimes. His good and bad intentions develop the
ambiguous aspect of his morality, and in the end reveal that good intentions don t always lead to good
results.
Later in the novel, after the creature has murdered Victor s little brother William as an act of revenge,
and pinned it on Justine, which resulted in her execution, he demands that Victor create him a female
companion. After being threatened by the creature, Victor agrees, fearing for the life of his loved ones.
While he knows the consequences of his creations, his intentions are good and pure in creating the
female, as he just wants to protect the ones he loves. Victor eventually ceases the assembling of the
female, as he fears her ability to reproduce and spread more evil throughout the world. ...The first

West Nile Virus Case Study
Before 1999, the West Nile Virus was unknown in the Western hemisphere. Since then, however, each
summer has shown it moving progressively across the United States starting in New York. Such
recurrent and steady movement means that the virus is here to stay. Transmitted by the bite of infected
mosquitoes, the disease causes encephalitis, which is inflammation of the brain. Although most cases
are relatively mild and include symptoms like a fever and skin rash, those with more severe cases can
exhibit convulsions, muscle weakness, and paralysis. Some cases even prove fatal. There is no
specific treatment for the virus, with most therapy coming under hospital oversight. In working to
prevent the disease, several areas have taken to spraying against mosquitoes and recommended the ...

Repellents containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, and some oil of lemon eucalyptus and para menthane

What Is The Conflict In The Crucible
Gene was truly jealous of Finny and how good he is at sports. Gene is competing with him and
decides to make him fall down the tree, which is social injustice. Like the war countries are fighting to
see which one stands tall. During World War 2 there were millions of deaths and casualties. Wars
usually start with some type of spark and that spark was Imperialism and Nationalism. One country is
fighting for power over the other country, trying to conquer it. Gene is fighting his own war against
himself and Finny trying to see who is better. Gene wants Finny to lose his power just as Germany
wants Czechoslovakia to give up some of it territory as Czechoslovakia refuses. To stop this cycle
from continuing we must rectify the injustice around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gene seems invulnerable when Brinker says, ...The truth hurts, eh. (88) This quote shows how if Gene
rectifies his own injustice Finny will be hurt, and will trust Gene no longer. The truth is something
said by heart, however it can hurt someone internal. The truth even hurts Gene himself in this
situation. In daily life many people keep their personal belongings to themselves. This can be
represented as a secret, or the truth, Sharing it sometimes can result in social conflict, or fear of
someone or something. In my opinion as well as many others, people say that the truth should be said
even though when the event occurs that someone asks about something, telling that person the truth
can result in consequences or mistrust. Looking at another point of anger, usually wars start with
something that angers a country. For example, when the United States of America tried to stop
Germany in World War 1 Germany fought harder and this resulted in over 100,000 American
casualties. Stopping someone from their actions sometimes results in conflict between that person, and
the person who said that. There are boundaries between people that should not be

Montessori Method Of Education
Montessori Method of Education is one of the unique methods of the education which stimulates the
child s natural curiosity to learn. Culture and creativity area an integral part of the Montessori
curriculum. Every area of the Montessori curriculum is interrelated and follows the same foundations.
Each area of curriculum has special purpose of education and helps the child in stimulating their
imaginative powers. Montessori Method strongly believes that imagination is based on the reality
based experiences and creativity is directly related to exposing the children to real life situations. So,
we can say that in order to be more imaginative and creative, child must have real and concrete
experiences with the real objects.
According to Maria Montessori, The true basis of the imagination is reality, and its perception is
related to exactness of observation. It is necessary to prepare children to perceive the things in their
environment exactly, in order to secure for them the material required by the imagination. Intelligence,
reasoning, and distinguishing one thing from another prepares a cement for imaginative constructions

child is allowed to learn in his own unique manner at his own pace. Every aspect of the Montessori

Debt To Equity Ratio Of Diamond Drillers Inc
The debt to equity ratio of Diamond Drillers, Inc, is 0.66times the debt to equity ratio of industry
averages is 1.07 times.
The debt to equity ratio is a financial, liquidity ratio which compares total debt to total equity of an
entity. It illustrates the percentage of entity financing that comes from creditors and investors.
The debt to equity ratio of Diamond Drillers, Inc, is 0.66 times and industry averages is 1.07 times. So
the debt to equity ratio of Diamond Drillers, Inc, is lower than industry averages. The lower debt to
equity ratio indicates that more investor financing (shareholders) is used than creditor financing (bank
loans or debts).
The lower debt to equity ratio of Diamond Drillers Inc, implies a more financially stable business. The

The inventory turnover of Diamond Drillers, Inc, is 2.5 times the inventory turnover of industry
averages is 2.45 times.
The inventory turnover ratio is an efficiency ratio that represents how effectively inventory is
managed. It measures how many times a business sold its inventories during a year.
The inventory turnover of Diamond Drillers is higher than the industry. It is good to have a higher
inventory turnover since the Diamond Drillers does not overspend by buying too much inventory and
wastes resources by storing non salable inventory. It also shows that the company can effectively sell
the inventory it buys more than the industry.
Even the inventory turnover of Diamond Drillers is better than the industry, but it still not so much

The larger amount of inventories holding may cause the inventories to become obsolesce or expire and
there will be storage costs and other holding costs incur, so it is good to have smaller inventory

Genetically Engineered Food Pros And Cons
Genetically engineered food is widely ranged from variety to variety stretching far across the united
states from end to end. Genetically engineered food has smuggled its way into the United
States food system in large amounts because every nation needs to by these genetically engineered
food products only to keep its prices competitive. In 64 nations GE ( genetically engineered) food is
required to be labeled but sadly the United States is not one of those 64 nations. Everyones reason and
opinion for labeling GE food may vary but I t is clear, GE food should be labeled in all nations so that
its consumers know what they are buying, eating, and feeding to family and friends.

Now being told this information it brings up many questions and concerns and that s why our GE food
should just be labeled.
Using the same article ( Just Label It!) for reference, it states that 9 out of 10 Americans support the
exciting idea of labeling GE food. Surprisingly for over 20 years, the americans that were all in for
this idea where shut down and denied in having that right. There are many pros and cons to the
labeling of GE food but there is pros and cons to anything and everything. Americans should not be
left behind unguided without knowing that they eat GE food everyday. The FDA needs to improve and
better their ways to the twenty first century and start labeling GE food because Americans have the
right to know.
On the contrary the FDA ( Food and Drug Administration ) holds their claim of saying that GE foods
are really the same as traditional foods. To back this up, Monsanto scientist have created a test on
traditionally bred soybeans and Roundup Ready soybeans, which were genetically engineered to be
resistant to Monsanto s Roundup herbicide. After this test was performed the scientist had found no
outstanding evidence that made the genetically engineered

Race To Calculus In College
Since a public school district s success is determined by state and national assessment, officials in
school systems across the country have sought to make changes to effectively address the academic
deficits of students. A push in education over the past couple decades has been the race to Calculus
and the belief that this path is necessary for a student to succeed in advanced math courses in college.
Although there has been a dramatic increase in the number of students in high school Calculus,
enrollment in Calculus 2 at college has remained relatively unchanged for the last two decades
(Bressoud, 2004; 2009). Many students who have taken Calculus in high school are arriving
unprepared for Calculus in college (Bressoud, 2007).

Statistical Analysis Examples
Statistical Analyses The following physiological measures were assessed for statistical significance:
RMSSD, HF power, SBP, DBP and HR. A natural log transformation was applied to HRV measures
prior to the analysis. Each measure was analyzed using a one way repeated measures ANOVA across
each experimental condition: baseline, stressor, recovery. The application of repeated measures
ANOVA calls for the assumption that the dependent variables follow a normal distribution. In the
context of this study, normal distribution cannot be demonstrated given the small sample size.
However, the present study serves as a pilot study and thus normality will be overlooked in favor of
obtaining a sense of the quality of the physiological data. As such, the presence of a normal
distribution will be assumed for subsequent statistical analyses. Additionally, the assumption of
Mauchly s Test of Sphericity was assumed to be violated in each case, and the Greehouse Geisser
correction was used in the resulting analyses. Post hoc tests with Bonferroni s correction were
conducted to assess statistical significance between each experimental condition with one another. An
α level of .05 was used, therefore probability values .05 were determined to be significant.
Results
Table 1 summarizes the means and standard deviations obtained from descriptive statistics. A repeated

Peggy Sturmfels s Birth Parents
Peggy Sturmfels was adopted in the early 1990 s when she was two weeks old. Her birth parents were
just teenagers and couldn t even take care of themselves therefore they felt it would be in Peggi s best
interest if they allow her to get the best life possible with someone who could provide for her. They
opted for a closed adoption because at the time no one knew she was even pregnant. Her adoptive
parents John and Gabrielle Sturmfels agreed with Peggy s birth parents and vowed not to tell her about
the adoption. To her birth parent s wishes John and Gabrielle gave Peggy the best life a child could
imagine, she was their little princess and they treated her like royalty. Peggy was sent to the best
schools and graduated high school as valedictorian. After graduation John and Gabrielle had a huge
surprise for Peggy; they were going to allow her to attend the college of her dreams: UCLA. Peggi had
dreamed to go there but her parents did not feel comfortable with her being so far away from home.
Three months later Peggi had packed up and had started her first semester of college. She was doing
very well and passing all her classes so she felt it was time for her to have a night to just relax and
have some fun. Her friend Abby suggested that they go to one of the Frat parties close to their dorm.
Peggy agreed and they went. At the party there was drugs and alcohol everywhere and Peggi didn t
feel comfortable but Abby insisted she stayed and referred to her as a party pooper .

Cade s Cove Creative Writing
I never knew the Smokies were so close to my grandparent s retirement village. Every summer all the
cousins jammed into Grandpa s Ford for our jaunt up the mountains. But back then the hills had no
name. They were recognized only by the pop of our ears and the pink silk trees bowing down to the
highway. Since those days I have grown partial to any patch of grass with National Park tacked to its
title. Today the mimosas still tossed their petals to traffic, and the truck remembered its ever present
perfume of damp golden retriever. But today we were going to The Great Smoky Mountains National
Park. Cade s Cove, next left, the road sign read, and two bikes bumped along on the car hitch. The

centuries ago, and the gristmill still runs. Pioneer babies are still buried behind the Missionary Baptist.
We parked our bikes and wandered past the gristmill and the smoke house and the barn where an old
tiller plow rusted. Could grandpa really remember? His grandpa used one, he said, and they used to

Short Essay On Wallowas
Traveling to the most Northeastern region of Oregon lays a true gem, named one of the seven wonders
of Oregon, the Wallowas is a goldmine for nature lovers and thrill seekers. The Wallowas is a
mountain range often referred to as the Swiss Alps of Oregon; its highest park reaching 9,838 feet is
named Sacajawea peak. Home to the Wallowa Lake; 2.5 miles long and actually formed by glaciers,
the evidence is a border climbing 900 feet above the surface of the water made of loose glacier debris,
called moraines. Residual snow from the previous winter and telltale signs of avalanches can be
spotted on the mountain sides above the layers of fir, spruce and ponderosa trees.

the trails or dine at the Summit Grill overlooking the spectacular view ahead of you. There are three
ways to come back down the mountain; you can take the tram back down, you can hike down, I would
recommend the third option, paragliding. One of the highlights of my experience in the Wallowas, was

Qualitative Strategies
I will explain how quantitative and qualitative strategies and methods/procedures are similar and
different. In qualitative strategies, there is a focus on data collection, analysis and writing (p. 176). In
qualitative strategies usually may fall in line with survey designs and experiments. The strategies
followed the same general format such as purpose, data collection, data analysis and conclusion. The
differences between the two for methods and procedures is the following: for quantitative methods
they tend to be used in a pretest and posttest control group designs. This is done by following six steps
which include administering measures of the dependent variable, assign the participants to pairs,
randomly assign members to the control group or experimental group, expose the experimental group,
administer measures of dependent variables and finally the performance. For ... Show more content on

There are two examples of qualitative methods, but one can see that the questions ask were best
served by qualitative methods. The question what resources are available to adolescent school students

This is best by qualitative method because you would have spoken to the adolescents to see what they
felt was available to them, that is bets conducted through interviewing. Some additional research
questions they came up with when reviewing their theoretical framework was what were the culturally
valued personal and social competencies?? What were the social stressors? As stated by the video,
qualilative research method would be effective because they were trying to understand mental health
from the perspective of people who s culture differed greatly than the researchers. They desired to

The Characteristics Of John Wooden s Definition Of Success
John Wooden once said, Success is peace of mind attained only through self satisfaction and knowing
you ve made the effort, do the best of what you re capable. This quote is relevant to the question of
what success is to me. This is relevant to the question of what is the definition of success because John
Wooden s definition of success is near perfect. To give you a better understanding, I will use three
different traits from the Pyramid of Success. I will explain to you why these are related to success.
Finally, I will use examples from the skype that our History in the Movies class had with former
basketball player, Bobby Plump. The first trait from the Pyramid of Success that I think creates
success is Confidence. I think confidence is a really big deal when it comes to success. If you come
into a sports game and you believe that you and your team will come out victorious, than you and your
team will play at higher levels. It doesn t matter if the challengers have more talent, it matters who has
more heart. When Bobby Plump put up a shot when he played basketball, he didn t this it was going to
miss, he thought it was going through the net every single time. In the movie Hoosiers, when Jimmy
Chitwood (Bobby Plump), shot the ball, he could be moving, fading away, or the shot could be heavily
contested and he would miss sometimes. But after all, he kept shooting because he was confident.
Confidence doesn t just pass for sports, it is also a trait you should hold

The Benefits Of Electroconvulsive Therapy ( Ect )
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Question 1: The electroconvulsive therapy is considered one of the
most reliable treatments for depressions. This therapy use electrodes that deliver a very tiny electric
current to the patient s scalp. Due to the fact that this electrical current causes a seizure in the grain,
the patient is under general anesthesia. Doctors recommended this therapy only when a people suffers
from severe depression and is not responsive to pills and psychotherapy. It is also considered, the best
treatment when the patient is a threat for himself or others. Sometimes, it is also use when the
symptoms are too severe that the doctor cannot take the risk of waiting for the medication take effect.
Furthermore, according to the website, the Electroconvulsive Therapy is only one of several brain
stimulation therapies. ECT uses electrical current, but other use magnets or implants to cure
depressions. The advantages are as follows: It is the fastest way to relieve symptoms in severely
depressed or suicidal patients. It is also very effective to control mania. Moreover, when a patient is
not responding to medications, ECT is one of the safest therapies to control clinical depression and
other several mental problems. The first disadvantage is that it can cause more damage than relief, if
something goes wrong. It may also cause memory loss, serious headaches, muscle aches, and severe
stomachache. Question 2: Based on what I read, and even knowing that

Comparing Zeffirelli s Adaptation Of Romeo And Juliet
For never was a story of more woe/ Than this of Juliet and her Romeo. The last line of Romeo and
Juliet was one that summed up the whole play. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story between two
star crossed lovers. Juliet, a 13 years old girl, belongs to the Capulet Family. Romeo, aged at around
16, belongs to the Montague family. The two lovers cross paths and the next day they are already
married. The play itself was written by William Shakespeare in 1595. Whether it a book or a movie, in
all the spin offs, there are sometimes many difference or just a few. One of the closest interpretations
of the play is the movie Romeo and Juliet directed by Franco Zeffirelli in 1968; the extremely popular
movie is a close interpretation of the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both open with an epic fight scene. Moving later into the play, Romeo and his friends stumble across
a Capulet servant who cannot read. The servant asks Romeo to read the list of names Lord Capulet has

as he isn t a Montague. This scene sets up the meeting of Romeo and Juliet and, sadly, not in the
movie version. Later in the play, the men show up to the party at the Capulet s house. In the play this
party, a masquerade ball, describes everybody in disguise; so nobody can really say who is who. In the
movie, however, not many people seem in disguise at all. In fact, in the movie, only Romeo and his

Essay on The Life and Writing of Liza Ward
The Life and Writing of Liza Ward
Liza Ward I imagine wore pearls and a sweet grin; she wrote of abiding emptiness. An image of neatly
trimmed edges in navy blue with long brunette waves of classic beauty, her words echo with hollow
despair and the impossibility of overcoming the past. Answering the phone for this interview, a high
pitched, girlie voice chirps Hi, how are you? with genuine interest. Her novel speaks from the other
side, from the silence of a happy life.
After reading her first novel, Outside Valentine, I expected a measured, soft voice that would stretch
around the ball of emptiness at the center of all that is human, a voice that arcs in stabbing, eloquent
tones, speaking from the beyond of some enlightened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The novel grew out of her need to make meaning out of something that was so brutal and meaningless.
Reading factual accounts of the murders wasn t enough for Ward; she needed to write the story and
live the experience to make sense of it all. In her own words, I had to live it, to write it. When you re
writing a novel, you re so inside the story that you can t step back.
Ward describes truth as limiting when trying to really get inside and understand something, It didn t
seem like I could say what I wanted to say by telling a non fictional account. The novel is told from
the point of view of three narrators affected by the Starkweather murders. In 1991, Lowell Bowman s
continued inability to cope with his parents murder is jeopardizing his marriage and family. In 1962,
14 year old Susan Hurst is isolated and lonely, abandoned by her manic depressive mother and
obsessing over Lowell, a victim of the Starkweather murders. In 1958, Caril Ann Fugate rebels against
her parents and the extreme poverty of her life, accepting the love and devotion of the handsome
Charles Starkweather. Many of the details of the story come from fact, although Ward insists: when
something that really happened inspired me, I put it in, but I never felt like I had to be grounded in
truth.
Interestingly, Ward says that writing the Caril Ann parts of the novel came easiest to her, which was
really weird, because I mean in essence, she was

Strategic Human Resource Management Approaches
Strategic Human Resource Management is the joining of human resource activities and policies with
strategic organisational goals for the benefit of achieving and maintaining quality performance of the
organisation. The aim of SHRM is to effectively create strategic quality by ensuring that the
organisation possess the committed, skilled, productive and motivated employees it needs in order to
achieve sustained competitive advantage.
In this essay I will critically evaluate different Strategic Human Resource Management approaches,
and finally reveal the one that I find the most convincing and the reasons why, by examining the four

This approach is regarded as the simplest approach in analysing different SHRM. best practice is all
about utilising certain approaches to not only deliver superior results but to also consider sustainability
and ongoing development of the approach that has been used. Using the best practices approach
makes it easier for organisation s to recognise bad practices.
They are Best Practices , because the implementation of this approach aims at improving the
performance of the organisation through additional, accountability, compliance, transparency and risk
control.
The exact meaning of best practices have become so diverse that organisations often move away from
the uniformity of the meaning. It is easy for employees to lose their voice within the organisation
using this model, and also changes made may not be appropriate from one department of the
organisation to another.
Very few businesses adopt the best practice model because it is difficult and also takes too long to
implement. There are limitations to this approach, like the fact that it is unitarist and does not take
employee perspective into account, they ignore national and organizational contexts. This approach is
crisis driven and actually has a poor track record. This approach has been

Leonid Afremov Research Paper
One artist that never fails to inspire me is Leonid Afremov. Afremov is still alive today and continues
to create amazing works of art. He makes sure to put his whole heart into his work and the way he
does this with his distinctive style stands out to me the most. Even when facing kidney damage and
oppression, never once did he decide to quit his dream. Artist Leonid Afremov was born on the twelfth

Arkadiy Afremov, who worked as a shoe designer and maker. Afremov and his parents lived a

modern self representing artist associated with with the impressionist art movement. He struggled at

My Heritage Essay
It s crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are
today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who
they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based upon
their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way you were
raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are viewed as are both
influenced by your family s heritage.
I come from a four person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they are the
people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has influenced me to
want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an older sister who is 23.
While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we grew up, we started to drift
apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3 years younger than my sister
Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me many personal life lessons. Watching
her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and helped me follow the right path. While
going through school, I already knew what to expect when it came to the class description and the
teacher just by having my sister go through it just a couple years before me. Even though being the

Mirror Image Of Electra In Aeschylus The Libation Bearers
In this paper I will discuss Aeschylus The Libation Bearers. Close reading reveals that Electra is
Orestes mirror image of a Fury. This thesis will be demonstrated through the analysis of passages
through the lens of the following principles of close reading: anomaly and parallel stories. To prove
this theory, the interpreter needs to offer evidence to show that Electra is a mirror image of Orestes, a
physical copy of himself meant to display his emotional and Fury like motivations towards killing his
mother. Hence, the interpreter then also has to prove that Electra shares the same characteristics as a
Fury. In this case, her parallel story with Orestes and the anomaly of their physical similarities proves
the first condition. To demonstrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apollo focuses on the oath to the Father (p.259; 626 628) and the value of knowledge over kinship
(p.260 261; 665 675), while the Furies focus on the mother s rights (p.259; 630 631) and the emotional
values of kinship, Disclaim your mother s blood? She gave you life. (p.258; 614) Athena weighs both
of these arguments out and makes a compromise that takes in both sides (p.264 265; 748 758). In
comparison, Orestes compromises Electra and Pylades motivations in The Libation Bearers by killing
Clytemnestra with motivations of emotion, You flung me into a life of pain (p.217; 900) as well as
those of oaths and logic, my father s destiny...decrees your death. (p.219; 913) Hence, what Apollo
and the Furies are to Athena, is what Pylades and Electra are to Orestes. As discussed in class, Pylades
is the disguise of Apollo, and Athena represents humanity. When combining these conclusions,
Orestes also represents humanity, with Pylades as his Apollo, and Electra as his mirror image of a

that it uncovers the problems in production by keeping minimal items available. With no pools of

using the JIT system Space Age has uncovered a problem with its key worker ED putting in to many

In addition to the manufacturing problem Space Age is facing they are also in a dilemma regarding the
reduction of overtime costs and inventory costs. If the over time costs tend to lessen the inventory
costs, overtime costs would be higher and the employee would be unhappy. If inventory costs reduce
overtime costs then inventory costs would be higher than previous. Managers of Space Age are in

Paley s Arguments On The Existence Of God
My argument and ideas are based on parts of Thomas Aquinas and William Paley s arguments on the
existence of God. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion. Does
God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual
journeys. The existence of God is provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the proof of
possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God exists. The natural
world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the transcendent personal cause of
the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning. Therefore, nothing caused God. All humans
have attempted to find the answers to the great questions of life. Like where did I come from or what
is wrong with me and the world? We all seek answers, we all want wrongs to be set right, and we all

In general, when a member of the Amish community dies, their body will be embalmed. Unlike most

Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal Bonded...
Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through
patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material
removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and
electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding
performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel,
(4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that
knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will
benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering.
Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases,
rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasive grains,

It was not until the twelfth century that homosexuality started to be condemned. This condemnation
proved to live through then until now. Due to the fact that America incorporated these early views into
its early laws, even the most bland of today s sex acts were seen as unlawful ( Homosexuality and
Mental Health ). Since then, these laws have changed, however, there is still a primarily negative
connotation on homosexuals when coming from a church or legal standpoint concerning the masses of
America.
This condemnation eventually led to the introduction of the separation of homosexuals from military
service as seen with the neutral blue discharges which were often given to homosexual servicemen
starting in 1916 . This neutral discharge was then labeled general and undesirable , resulting in a less
honorable discharge. Discharges concerning men who were found to be guilty in engaging in
homosexual acts were severely different than those who were neutrally discharged. If this were the

Margrieter Vs. New Hotel
The five elements of negligence that apply to the case of Mr. Margrieter V. New Hotel
Monteleone, Inc are Duty, breach, cause in effect, proximal cause and harm (damage suffered as a
proximal result of the defendant s breach of duty). Duty refers to an obligation one has to another
party. If duty constrains and channels behavior in a socially responsible way (Owen, 2007), then the
Hotel Menteloene has a duty to take reasonable measures to protect its guests from harm. Breach, an
improper act or omission, can also be viewed as an element that exists in this case.

The hotel uses Mr. Margrieter s lack of clear memory of the events as a defense and his inability to
return to New Orleans to identify his attackers as another defense, as he was stable enough to fly home
to Denver for a Craniotomy (brain surgery). However, it does not require much in the way of mental
capacity to take a flight on a commercial airline. A severe head injury and the subsequent
recovery period after the brain surgery are limiting enough. The lack of evidence of the two men
abducting Mr. Margrieter is perhaps the strongest argument the hotel can use. Without such evidence,
it is difficult to prove that the actions of the hotel, such as inadequate security and failure to follow
procedure in locking the freight elevator, led to Mr. Margrieter s injury. Without evidence, cause in
fact and proximal cause are hard to prove.

How A Person s Memory Works Memory
Alexis Marie Robinson Mrs Reilly English III Honors Period 6 09 Of March 2015 How A Person s
Memory Works Memory is a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Recalling memories
uses the same neurological paths humans use originally to sense the experience which in result, almost
recreates the event. Researchers believe memory is a brain wide process, meaning that memory is not
restricted to one area of the brain. Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory. Humans receive
information through the five senses: 1sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. Someone can imagine how
different a memory would be for a person if one of they did not have one of their senses sight, sound,
smell whatever the sense was that ties them closely to the memory the most. Memories are just
different ways people store and remember various things they have sensed throughout life.
2It should be known that a single memory is a complex construction. For example, when people think
of a simple object the brain retrieves the objects name, its shape, function, and anything else that
closely ties itself to that object. 2Each part of this memory is from a different region of the brain.
3(Mohs and Turkington) As stated by April Holladay, memories of concepts and ideas are related to
sense experiences because we extract the essence from sensed experiences to form generalized
concepts. And in the past, many experts explained memory as a filing cabinet full of memory folders

The Concepts Of Microeconomics While At San Pasqual High...
Students at San Pasqual High School created a music video outlining the major concepts of
microeconomics while at the same time relating each lesson to the real world, albeit in a humorous
manner. The application of these ideas in the video ranged from determining the price of gas to finding
a dance partner. The concepts addressed by the students including market structures, government
intervention, elasticity, and scarcity, that all hold value in everyday life and an understanding of their
importance can contribute significant benefits to the power of the consumer within the market. To
begin, one of the first concepts introduced by the video was that of market structures. Market
structures are categorized as a result of variables that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a consumer, knowledge of the various market structures allows for the understanding of the
motivations and decisions made by certain firms, and can assist in the making of calculated purchases.
For instance, the student in the video hypothesized that gas prices were rising because multiple gas
firms within an oligopoly were colluding and artificially raising prices. With this information, one can
choose to take their purchase to another firm who does not appear to be colluding and purchase a
substitute good for a cheaper price. If enough consumers are aware of the strategies utilized by firms
within markets structures such as monopolies and oligopolies, action can be taken in order to prevent
costs of goods from reaching levels that only benefit producers. The power that each consumer s
purchase holds is often underestimated, and if used wisely, can help to create a market that fosters
innovation and rewards firms with fair prices. The next major topic the video focused upon was
elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of how sensitive producers and consumers to changes in price of a
good or a service. If a good/service is elastic, willingness to purchase changes significantly with a
small change in price. Conversely, if a good/service is inelastic, the market does not react very much
in response to a change in price. The concept of elasticity was introduced in the music video when a
student was attempting to get away

When an injury requires that a person immobilizes the area injured to prevent movement during the

Coquille Indian Tribe Research Paper

Coquille Indian Tribe Located in Coos Bay, Oregon, lies the Coquille Indian Tribe standing strong
with over 1,000 members situated on 7,043 acres of land. This group of native americans derived from
a, mispronounced or misunderstood native word that described the river along which our forebears
lived or some particular physical attribute of the surrounding estuary environment, (Tribal Heritage).
Not to mention, that s exactly what this tribe is about, settling on low valleys of the Coos and river
waters. As can be seen, the Coquilles are a very distinctive group of native americans due to their
unique living styles. There are several features that make this group the way they are such as ... Show

The group has a unique lifestyle that makes them known as food gatherers and hunters. Most of their
settlements were located along lower parts of streams and rivers as well as the tidewaters. This made
travel easy, because all they had to do was follow the river home, and they would rarely get lost.
Another positive of the settlement near running waters was the abundant supply of fish year round.
The general hunting area was located on the highlands away from the water. These techniques were
not a secret, many tribes used this style of hunting and gathering. Typically, the villages that were
permanent were occupied by the members of a family or band that lived in houses built of cedar
timbers and planks. Villages have several buildings and housing options to make it unique. Usually
there was a long house used for communal purposes and sheds used for either sleeping or storage. If
there was a married couple, they received their own house to live in with their families as well. Near
hunting areas, shelter was no where near as permanent, and housing was a lot less elaborate,
considering they were made of branches under trees, just enough shelter to keep away rain and wind
and to provide shade.
The Coquille Indian Tribe is a very interesting tribe with unique

Which approach is most useful in your view? | Neo realism According to Jackson and Sorensen (2003), the leading contemporary neorealist thinker is undoubtedly Kenneth Waltz (1979). His starting point is taken from some elements of classical and neoclassical, such as independent state existing and performing in an anarchical international system. Waltz s Theory of international Politics (1979) seeks to provide a scientific explanation of the international political system. International change takes place when great powers rise and fall and followed by the shift in the balance of power (Jackson and Sorensen, 2003). The international system is a self help system; states are obliged to look after themselves, because there is no one else to look after them. Waltz does not assume that states are pursuing the increase in their power and the importance of them between others states, necessarily aggressive body, but he does believe that they desire to preserve themselves. This means that they are obliged to be considered with their security, national defence and obliged to regard other states as potential threats (Brown, 2001). Waltz believes that bipolar systems provide more stability and thus provide a better guarantee of security and peace than multipolar systems. With only two great powers, both can be expected to behave in a way to prolong the system (Waltz, 1979). That is because in maintaining the system they are maintaining themselves. According to that view, the Cold War was a period of international stability and peace. (Jackson and Sorensen, 2003) Neo Marxism The writings of Karl Marx (1818 83), according to Mingst (1999), are fundamental to the Marxist school of thought, even though he did not directly state all the issues that are today encompassed by Marxism. Good And Evil Are Often Seen In Shades Of Black And White Good and evil are often seen in shades of black and white in literary works, and their effects are obvious: good is good and evil is evil. However, there are shades of gray within the spectrum of good and evil, and this in between often has a great effect on the work as a whole, revealing important themes and ideas. This gray area, when in relation to the actions and morals of a character, is called moral ambiguity. A character that embodies moral ambiguity is Victor Frankenstein. Gene is competing with him and decides to make him fall down the tree, which is social injustice. Like the war countries are fighting to see which one stands tall. During World War 2 there were millions of deaths and casualties. Wars usually start with some type of spark and that spark was Imperialism and Nationalism. One country is fighting for power over the other country, trying to conquer it. Gene is fighting his own war against himself and Finny trying to see who is better. • 11. Statistical Analysis Examples Statistical Analyses The following physiological measures were assessed for statistical significance: RMSSD, HF power, SBP, DBP and HR. A natural log transformation was applied to HRV measures prior to the analysis. Each measure was analyzed using a one way repeated measures ANOVA across each experimental condition: baseline, stressor, recovery. The application of repeated measures ANOVA calls for the assumption that the dependent variables follow a normal distribution. In the context of this study, normal distribution cannot be demonstrated given the small sample size. However, the present study serves as a pilot study and thus normality will be overlooked in favor of obtaining a sense of the quality of the physiological data. As such, the presence of a normal distribution will be assumed for subsequent statistical analyses. Additionally, the assumption of Mauchly s Test of Sphericity was assumed to be violated in each case, and the Greehouse Geisser correction was used in the resulting analyses. Every summer all the cousins jammed into Grandpa s Ford for our jaunt up the mountains. But back then the hills had no name. They were recognized only by the pop of our ears and the pink silk trees bowing down to the highway. Since those days I have grown partial to any patch of grass with National Park tacked to its title. Today the mimosas still tossed their petals to traffic, and the truck remembered its ever present perfume of damp golden retriever. But today we were going to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We parked our bikes and wandered past the gristmill and the smoke house and the barn where an old tiller plow rusted. Could grandpa really remember? His grandpa used one, he said, and they used to hold corn huskings. At the mill Grandpa veered the ranger off his script. The Characteristics Of John Wooden s Definition Of Success John Wooden once said, Success is peace of mind attained only through self satisfaction and knowing you ve made the effort, do the best of what you re capable. This quote is relevant to the question of what success is to me. This is relevant to the question of what is the definition of success because John Wooden s definition of success is near perfect. To give you a better understanding, I will use three different traits from the Pyramid of Success. I will explain to you why these are related to success. Finally, I will use examples from the skype that our History in the Movies class had with former basketball player, Bobby Plump. The first trait from the Pyramid of Success that I think creates success is Confidence. I think confidence is a really big deal when it comes to success. If you come into a sports game and you believe that you and your team will come out victorious, than you and your team will play at higher levels. It doesn t matter if the challengers have more talent, it matters who has more heart. When Bobby Plump put up a shot when he played basketball, he didn t this it was going to miss, he thought it was going through the net every single time. In the movie Hoosiers, when Jimmy Chitwood (Bobby Plump), shot the ball, he could be moving, fading away, or the shot could be heavily contested and he would miss sometimes. But after all, he kept shooting because he was confident. Confidence doesn t just pass for sports, it is also a trait you should hold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you re writing a novel, you re so inside the story that you can t step back. Ward describes truth as limiting when trying to really get inside and understand something, It didn t seem like I could say what I wanted to say by telling a non fictional account. In 1958, Caril Ann Fugate rebels against her parents and the extreme poverty of her life, accepting the love and devotion of the handsome Charles Starkweather. Many of the details of the story come from fact, although Ward insists: when something that really happened inspired me, I put it in, but I never felt like I had to be grounded in truth. • 32. Paley s Arguments On The Existence Of God My argument and ideas are based on parts of Thomas Aquinas and William Paley s arguments on the existence of God. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion. Does God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual journeys. The existence of God is provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the proof of possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God exists. The natural world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the transcendent personal cause of the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning. Therefore, nothing caused God. All humans have attempted to find the answers to the great questions of life. Like where did I come from or what is wrong with me and the world? We all seek answers, we all want wrongs to be set right, and we all yearn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inanimate objects are soulless things like rocks, land, and sand. Parents don t teach babies all right and wrongs there is no law for them, they are born with the intelligence of judgment or sense of wrong and right which isn t taught. Even if there were no laws in the world, there would be hesitation (consciousness) inside you, which may sway your decisions and actions. • 33. Amish Funeral Home Essay The aspects of an Amish funeral service are steeped in customs that vary largely from that of an English funeral. Though the ideals and customs of an English funeral service change with the new trends of the region. While the Amish funeral service has changed very little from the Amish deviation from the Quakers. In most branches of the Amish church, the rituals and traditions surrounding death are held in the highest regard. These sacred teachings are known to very few members of the church; generally, by the bishops, or by the Amish funeral director. The funeral, as seen from the English perspective, is a celebration of life or the mourning of a life; while, the funeral seen from an Amish perspective, is a celebration of the gift of God. In general, when a member of the Amish community dies, their body will be embalmed. Unlike most of the more conservative religions, the Amish believe in using both arterial embalming (The process of injecting chemicals into the arterial system of the body) and visceral embalming (The process of injecting chemicals into the viscera or organs). • 34. Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal Bonded... Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel, (4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering. Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases, rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasive grains, metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of micromachining by providing advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro scale for hard materials. Because grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other machining processes, detailed understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism easily. This condemnation proved to live through then until now. Due to the fact that America incorporated these early views into its early laws, even the most bland of today s sex acts were seen as unlawful ( Homosexuality and Mental Health ). Since then, these laws have changed, however, there is still a primarily negative connotation on homosexuals when coming from a church or legal standpoint concerning the masses of America. This condemnation eventually led to the introduction of the separation of homosexuals from military service as seen with the neutral blue discharges which were often given to homosexual servicemen starting in 1916 . This neutral discharge was then labeled general and undesirable , resulting in a less honorable discharge. Discharges concerning men who were found to be guilty in engaging in homosexual acts were severely different than those who were neutrally discharged. If this were the case then you were then dishonorably discharged ( Don t Ask, Don t Tell Wikipedia). The current policy of Don t Ask, Don t Tell, Don t Harass, Don t Pursue1, derived from the original 1993 Department of Defense Directive 1332.14 coined Don t Ask, Don t Tell, ensures that any American citizen can participate in the Armed Forces. • 36. Margrieter Vs. New Hotel The five elements of negligence that apply to the case of Mr. Margrieter V. New Hotel Monteleone, Inc are Duty, breach, cause in effect, proximal cause and harm (damage suffered as a proximal result of the defendant s breach of duty). Duty refers to an obligation one has to another party. If duty constrains and channels behavior in a socially responsible way (Owen, 2007), then the Hotel Menteloene has a duty to take reasonable measures to protect its guests from harm. Breach, an improper act or omission, can also be viewed as an element that exists in this case. The hotel did not provide adequate security, as it did not replace the security personnel that had called in sick. It is particularly a breach if the hotel has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hotel uses Mr. Margrieter s lack of clear memory of the events as a defense and his inability to return to New Orleans to identify his attackers as another defense, as he was stable enough to fly home to Denver for a Craniotomy (brain surgery). However, it does not require much in the way of mental capacity to take a flight on a commercial airline. A severe head injury and the subsequent recovery period after the brain surgery are limiting enough. The lack of evidence of the two men abducting Mr. Margrieter is perhaps the strongest argument the hotel can use. Without such evidence, it is difficult to prove that the actions of the hotel, such as inadequate security and failure to follow procedure in locking the freight elevator, led to Mr. Margrieter s injury. Without evidence, cause in fact and proximal cause are hard to prove. Owen, D. (2007). The Five elements of negligence. Hoefstra Law Review, 35(4). • 37. How A Person s Memory Works Memory Alexis Marie Robinson Mrs Reilly English III Honors Period 6 09 Of March 2015 How A Person s Memory Works Memory is a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Recalling memories uses the same neurological paths humans use originally to sense the experience which in result, almost recreates the event. Researchers believe memory is a brain wide process, meaning that memory is not restricted to one area of the brain. Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory. Humans receive information through the five senses: 1sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. Someone can imagine how different a memory would be for a person if one of they did not have one of their senses sight, sound, smell whatever the sense was that ties them closely to the memory the most. Memories are just different ways people store and remember various things they have sensed throughout life. 2It should be known that a single memory is a complex construction. For example, when people think of a simple object the brain retrieves the objects name, its shape, function, and anything else that closely ties itself to that object. 2Each part of this memory is from a different region of the brain. 3(Mohs and Turkington) As stated by April Holladay, memories of concepts and ideas are related to sense experiences because we extract the essence from sensed experiences to form generalized concepts. And in the past, many experts explained memory as a filing cabinet full of memory folders where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Concepts Of Microeconomics While At San Pasqual High... Students at San Pasqual High School created a music video outlining the major concepts of microeconomics while at the same time relating each lesson to the real world, albeit in a humorous manner. The application of these ideas in the video ranged from determining the price of gas to finding a dance partner. The concepts addressed by the students including market structures, government intervention, elasticity, and scarcity, that all hold value in everyday life and an understanding of their importance can contribute significant benefits to the power of the consumer within the market. To begin, one of the first concepts introduced by the video was that of market structures. Market structures are categorized as a result of variables that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a consumer, knowledge of the various market structures allows for the understanding of the motivations and decisions made by certain firms, and can assist in the making of calculated purchases. For instance, the student in the video hypothesized that gas prices were rising because multiple gas firms within an oligopoly were colluding and artificially raising prices. With this information, one can choose to take their purchase to another firm who does not appear to be colluding and purchase a substitute good for a cheaper price. If enough consumers are aware of the strategies utilized by firms within markets structures such as monopolies and oligopolies, action can be taken in order to prevent costs of goods from reaching levels that only benefit producers. The power that each consumer s purchase holds is often underestimated, and if used wisely, can help to create a market that fosters innovation and rewards firms with fair prices. The next major topic the video focused upon was elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of how sensitive producers and consumers to changes in price of a good or a service. If a good/service is elastic, willingness to purchase changes significantly with a small change in price. Conversely, if a good/service is inelastic, the market does not react very much in response to a change in price. The concept of elasticity was introduced in the music video when a student was attempting to get away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of their settlements were located along lower parts of streams and rivers as well as the tidewaters. This made travel easy, because all they had to do was follow the river home, and they would rarely get lost. Another positive of the settlement near running waters was the abundant supply of fish year round. The general hunting area was located on the highlands away from the water. These techniques were not a secret, many tribes used this style of hunting and gathering. Typically, the villages that were permanent were occupied by the members of a family or band that lived in houses built of cedar timbers and planks. Villages have several buildings and housing options to make it unique. Usually there was a long house used for communal purposes and sheds used for either sleeping or storage. If there was a married couple, they received their own house to live in with their families as well. Near hunting areas, shelter was no where near as permanent, and housing was a lot less elaborate, considering they were made of branches under trees, just enough shelter to keep away rain and wind and to provide shade.
