Public Incidents As A Moral Panic
Since the early 2010s, debate around the sexualisation of children has instigated much social
alarm. A number of media articles (Cameron 2010; Critchley 2009; Doherty 2011; Kermond
2012, Jones Cuneo 2009; Snow 2013; Tuohy 2012) have depicted the sexualisation of children as
a prevailing social matter which accentuate concepts represented in moral panic discourse. In
everyday practices of reporting public and social events, moral panic frequently becomes elicited
by society s mass mediated exaggeration of certain social events. What becomes apparent from
Critcher s work (2003), is how understandings of public incidents become portrayed as concerning
through socially constructed and distorted notions of panic which become widely adopted views.
As Cohen (1972) suggests, moral panic becomes a state of panic through the encouragement of
important social agents which believe that an ideological perspective is threatened or endangered
by a particular view. Thereby to accentuate these notions using moral panic discourse, this essay
will investigate whether representations of sexualised children constitute a moral panic contrived
by mediated distortions or is truly a concerning societal issue through an analysis of the processual
and attributional model (Critcher 2003). Drawing on both discursive models of moral panic will
allow a thorough investigation of the catalysts for moral panic involving the sexualisation of
children. This paper will demonstrate how moral panic discourse

How Does Shakespeare Present Macbeth In Act 7 Scene 7
The age of seven is a year full of beginnings. Children at this age start to continuously ask
questions spurred by curiosity. They lack self control and begin to worry more due to their
increase in knowledge. This is the age for them when they begin to understand the world around
them even though it may be difficult to process. Macbeth experiences these occurrences through
his time in Scotland. He constantly questions everything he hears, has increased worryness, and
is treated like a seven year by his older peers. As every other seven year, Macbeth is going
through this period of refinement which shows he s truly a seven year old. Reaching the age of
seven has led Macbeth to reach a milestone in his growth and that is of having curiosity... Show

His new understanding of the things that happen in the world allow him to learn of
consequences that his actions have. He kills Duncan and then suffers from the outcomes of that.
The results involve him worrying about things that he believes are right before him but aren t
really such as hearing a voice cry sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep, the innocent sleep,
sleep that knits up the ravell d sleave of care, the death of each day s life, sore labour s bath,
balm of hurt minds, great nature s second course, chief nourisher in life s feast (INSERT ACT).
Not only is Macbeth worrying about present occurrences but also things that may happen in the
future. He fears of his legacy as king because he feels to be thus is nothing; but to be safely
thus... no son of mine succeeding. (INSERT ACT). Macbeth knows that he isn t secured of his
position as king because he needs children to protect his throne and since he is only seven years
old he cannot have kids which leaves him and his throne vulnerable to being overthrown. Macbeth s
growth as a seven year old leads him to worrying about things that could potentially happen to him
since he understands more

Summary Of The Novels
Numerous characters in the novel use these technologies to further their own goals. Case, the
cowboy , hacks various systems for monetary gain but, he is, also, addicted to the matrix and the
cyberspace. Case agrees to work for Armitage in exchange for repairs of his nervous system,
which grants him back the ability to enter the matrix. He doesn t have any knowledge of what is
the objective of their mission. He is motivated, mostly, by the ability to interact once again with
the cyberspace and to rise above the condition of a simple meat (Miller and Wagner Martin 57).
The interaction with the cyberspace is described as ultimate physical experience and is compared
to an orgasm (Roberts 174) Molly states I saw you stroking that Sendai;... Show more content on

However, both are dependent on their cybernetic enhancement and are unable to function
properly without them. McCoy Pauley, Dixie Flatline, is the character who is problematic to the
traditional notion of a character. He is a computer program (an algorithm) that can mimic dead s
individual personality and habits. He does everything a conscious person does: laughs, answers,
possesses a self awareness and the desire to die. However, he can t attain a sense of self identity
and, therefore, he isn t real (Roberts 175 177). Armitage, unlike McCoy Pauley, has the body of a
real human being. However, as the story progresses characters realize that Armitage is some sort
of flesh construct, a ROM personality build around the fragmented identity of a real man named
Corto, who was almost killed in a military raid. Eventually, the Corto s personality emerges through
Armitage; he is insane and is killed by Wintermute. In contrast, Armitage had self preservation
habits. Even though, Armitage was just a programmed personality, built by Wintermute, he seemed
more real and human than his actual identity, Corto (Roberts 176 177). For some entire clans, like
the Tessier Ashpools, the progress in technology was their demise. Their plan to retain control over
their corporation fails as family members become increasingly unstable, most likely due to their
unusual existence (cloning and being cryogenically frozen and refrozen in labs): Ashpool kills

Domestic Abuse And Domestic Violence Essay
Every year in the United States there are over 3 million incidents of domestic violence. That
means that every nine seconds a women is beaten by her domestic partner (Findeley). There are
many women that stay silent when being abuse by their partners. The consequences of staying
quiet when obtaining abuse can be dangerous and can also lead to death. Many women do not
recognize the importance of the fact that there is in speaking out if they are being abuse by their
partner. No woman should take domestic abuse by their partners. Every woman deserves a healthy
relationship; A healthy relationship involves trust, respect, and consideration for the other person.
Domestic abuse has gotten worse during the past years and is still rising up. One can see that
domestic abuse can occur everywhere. Domestic abuse is considered a crime and woman should
not keep silent when being abuse. Abuse can have many different meanings, there is one in
particular that takes control in many Americans relationship, physical maltreatment (Abuse). Sadly
there is an increasing amount of young adults going through an abusive relationship or were in
one. Many of the people that become abusers consider violence as a normal behavior because they
have witnessed it on a daily basis. They than begin to mistreat everyone that comes in his or her
way. An abuser is frequently interested in controlling their victims. An abuser s behavior is usually

Justinian Plague Analysis
His vesture was dabbled in blood and his broad brow, with all the features of the face, was
besprinkled with the scarlet horror. (Poe, 5) As the Red Death ravaged through time the question
remains, what would happen now? With today s booming populations and frequent trade routes
being open 24/7 plagues and other wide spread disease could quickly and effectively wipe out
our nation. This pestilence was so powerful that it spread from the ill to the healthy like fire
among dry or oily materials. It was so bad that it could be communicated not only through speaking
or associating with the sick, but even by touching their clothing or anything else they had touched.
(Boccaccio, 2) With the help of FEMA and other organization though it could be argued that the
human population could survive. As a bacterial disease, plague can be treated with antibiotics, and
can be prevented from spreading by prompt identification, treatment and management of human
cases. (CDC, 6) We see movies all the time like Contagion, I Am Legend, and The Andromeda

San JosГ© De Moro s Social Responsibility
1.Introduction of research question (500 words)
The territory in which the country of Peru is now located has been uninterruptedly occupied for
thousands of years. This continuous human settlement in the area has left us with a vast number of
archaeological sites, historic buildings and religious structures. The large number of sites in
addition to the large artifact collections that can be found in the Peruvian museums creates an
almost insurmountable labor for the federal, provincial and local governments, as well as the
professionals involved in the various aspects of the preservation of these materials.
Despite the richness in its cultural heritage, 9.7% of Peru s 30,973,000 population lives in poverty
(Poverty headcount ratio at 2 PPP$ a day). This fact, coupled with the lack of supervision and/or
protection of archaeological and historic sites has exposed Peru s cultural heritage to looting and
destruction, the illegal occupation of areas designated as national patrimony, illicit trafficking of

The author believes that while it is a necessary first step towards developing a sustainable plan, the
lack of vision and the poor implementation of the proposal leaves the community with an unviable,
halfway done program which does little to engage the community in the preservation of the site.
Through the study and review of two specific aspects of San JosГ© de Moro s social
responsibility plan: 1. The Modular Museum Program as a heritage tourism tool, and 2. The
Development of a Local Identity, it is the purpose of this paper to demonstrate that in order to
achieve a sustainable preservation of the site, the local community must be treated as an equal

Arthur Ashe Award Persuasive Speech
There is a lot of controversy over Caitlyn Jenner receiving the Arthur Ashe Award for courage.
While some believe she is worthy of the award, others believe that the award should have gone
to someone else. D.L. Hughlye is one person speaking out against Caitlyn winning the
prestigious award. He told TMZ, July 17, 2015, that Arthur Ashe founder of the award, showed
real courage. Those who receive the award should be the same. Arthur battled AIDS and lived in
a time where the South and his profession were segregated. He compared that to Caitlyn putting
on a dress to win the award. To D.L., the two aren t even in the same ballpark. He thought it was
a targeted that the late Lauren Hill, a college basketball player who battled cancer, lost to a man
wearing a dress. D.L. said that Caitlyn looked like a PE teacher, but his comments went further
when he compared Caitlyn to the TV character Mrs. Doubtfire. He said she is as beautiful as
Robin Williams was as Mrs. Doubtfire. playing the character played by the late Robin Williams....

The Role Of Separation Anxiety In Children
Separation anxiety is a big problem for children these days. In this research I will be discussing
overview of separation anxiety. Separation anxiety is defined as a condition in which a child
starts to be frightened and scared to be left alone from someone that child really love to be with.
Separation anxiety is a typical for young children. Specifically, children in eight to fourteen months
old. Children usually go through a specific time during their life that they will cling to their parent
or somebody that they really love. Separation anxiety can be joined with holding panic attack that
is possible to happen with being able to have a comorbid panic disorder. There are signs and

The Importance Of Stock Cards
It s an unseasonably warm sunny day in mid November and the frenzy in the air is palpable.
With the ring of a bell an onslaught of haggling, trading and price discovery begins, lasting until
the final bell concludes the madness. As these traders walk through the doors they can t help but

backed by any government and are not regulated. They do not carry SIPC or FDIC insurance...
and yes, any gains are taxable by the IRS. Digital currency speculators are often seduced by the
siren song of quick profits. Over the past few days Bitcoin mania seems to be frothing at an
increasing rate. Over the weekend digital currency searches were among the top searched apps on
Apple s App Store and one of the most prominent Bitcoin investing websites had trouble keeping

fearful? If so, perhaps a speculative investment in Bitcoin may not be an appropriate investment for
you. Most recently, one Bitcoin cost $16,500

Social Civilization In Korea
The Japanese colonization of Korea made Koreans an easy target of exploitation. Since Japan
was in a great need of cheap labor, Korean workers were recruited during 1920s. In this essay, I
am going to discuss the significance of institutional racial discrimination targeted towards Korean
workers in interwar Japan as a tool of alienation and exploitation. One of the abiding discernments
formed in Karl Marxs Capital is that in the colonies of capitalist nation states the apparitions of the
law of the supply and demandof labor are crushed. In the home country, the magnificent allurement
of capitalist production can be found in its capability to reproduce the wage laborer by regularly
setting him or her free, firing him or her and by creating a surplus population that rests in
approximate exteriority to capitalist manufacturing as the prerequisite for the commodification of
labor power. Regularly handling labor power as a expendable commodity is hence the way
capitalist manufacturing can assure that its most nonexpendable commodity labor power is
constantly there by the time capitalist manufacturing encounters so called labor shortages during
industrial expansion. It is this reproductive apparatus that enables the smug knavery of the
Japanese colonial policymaker to envision and to formalize into normalized principles of
economic shift, that owners of labor power who are de facto impelled to enter into a relationship
of reliance with the wage form can take part in

Invictus And The Rose That Grew From Concrete By Tupac
Obstacles. Everyone has been forced to overcome them at some point in their life. These
obstacles have shaped everyone and helped them become the person they are today. Challenges
are a part of life and everyone will face them at some point in their life, but it is how people handle
it that determines their future. This idea can be seen in many pieces of text including the following
poems. Invictus by William Ernest Henleyand The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac both
convey the idea that obstacles are important in everyone s life and help shape everyone as a person
on the way to their dream.
Through Invictus William Ernest Henley shows that if people did not run into obstacles in their
life, no one would know who they truly are. The use of imagery shows this theme in that it
allows the readers to feel and see the pain that the writer is going through. For example, William
Henley says, I have not winced nor cried aloud./ my head is bloody, but unbowed (6 8). This
device is being used to demonstrate the difficult journey that the author was given to go on, in
order reach his dream and be in control of their life. It shows the theme of this poem because it
speaks about the low points in a person s life and about how by not giving in they become
stronger. This device also shows that though they have been beaten down multiple times they refuse
to be broken. Another device that Henley uses is diction. He uses this device to stress the
importance of different words

I have taken personality assessments in college and truly had not spent as much time as this
analyzing, confirming and questioning the results. The global personality inventory told me I
see patterns faster than others and I need to slow down and ensure others keep up. Just last week
I was telling my Sr Director that we only have 3 6 months of work planned and we should create a
2 year roadmap. She said, What if our plans change? I replied, That s okay, at least we have a
foundational planto work from. I remember from Org Behavior class that when we wait for others
to make decisions for us, we lose power. My leader is waiting for direction on what we should
do next. We have to tell our Sponsor, the President, what we should do and why. I also learned I
like to take charge and influence. I m interpersonal and read others well, and ensure to pay attention
to others needs. Some of my areas needing improvement are my needfor micromanaging and
believing in wrong and right. My problem area is that my expectations of others are too high. I
have had a leader in the past that told me this. I led upward a lot during that relationship and
many times, he let me down. He said my expectations of him were unrealistic. We had to lay
ground rules for our working relationship on how he would lead me best. I didn t need direction.
I was able to create my own work and take him along with me on my plan. I tend to lean too much

Willingham s Arguments Against The Death Penalty
In 2004, a Texas man named Cameron Todd Willingham was executed for murdering his three

which assumed that the fire was caused by arson. There multiple fire science experts who

prove that the fire was intentionally set. In 2010, the Texas Forensic Science Commission released

The Fact sheet found on the Death Penalty Information Center showed that solely in Kansas,
there was an average of $400,000 per case for defense costs by inmates placed on death row
compared to the average of $100,000 paid per case to defense attorneys when there was no death
penalty (DPIC). Alarcon and Mitchell conducted a study in 2011 that showed that just in
California getting through the process of having an inmate on death row was over
$4,000,000,000 (DPIC). This was due to the various amounts of fees that had to be paid for
court trials, appeals, housing death row inmates in preparation for their incarcerations etc.

$2.3 million is three times as much as housing an inmate in solitary confinement at a maximum

would be to keep the death penalty legal in the U.S. Lastly, the death penalty should be illegal
because innocent men and women might be put to death due to corrupt trial or weak defense. Just

Characters In George Eliot s The Mill On The Floss
George Eliot is a verbose writer, and is exceedingly descriptive when it comes to her characters
in The Mill on the Floss. Three central characters Eliot paints with an especially detailed and
many layered brush are Maggie, Tom, and Mr. Tulliver. Mr. Tulliver is a decently prosperous
farmer, the proprietor of Dorlcote Mill, and the father of Maggie and Tom. In the first dialogue
of the story, we learn that Mr. Tulliver s desire is to give Tom a good eddication, an eddication
as ll be a bread to him... The two years at th academy ud ha done well enough, if I d meant to
make a miller and farmer o him, for he s had a fine sight more schoolin nor I ever got: all the
learnin my father ever payed for was a bit o birch at one end and the alphabet at th other, (Eliot
9). Mr. Tulliver s uneddicated country speech is certainly a far cry from the exact Eton grammar
of the clergyman he employs as Tom s second school master (Eliot 123). The simple and almost
comical nature of Mr. Tulliver is further shown through the medium of his own diction. In a
conversation with his wife, Mr. Tulliver attempts to use symbolism to illustrate his point that
Bessy Tulliver finds fault in things that aren t just the way she d like them. He tells Mrs.
Tulliver, you d want me not to hire a good waggoner, cause he d got a mole on his face... No, no,
Bessy; I didn t mean justly the mole; I meant it to stand for summat else; but niver mind it s

Skyy Vodka Advertisement Analysis
The Appeal to Female Dominance: Skyy Vodka The advertisement is specifically directed
towards women in the way that it appeals to what they believe Skyy Vodka can give them. In the
advertisement there is a woman in a black dress leaning back eating olives with a martini glass
between her fingers. On the floor is the Skyy vodka bottle and a man in a suit between her arm
and body who seems to be passed out with his arms spread apart with a tie covering his eyes. The
foreground shows the man womanis in her apartment, while the background is red and in the
upper left hand corner of the page it says #18 She Wins. The first thing the ad demonstrates is
empowered women who are in control of their sexuality and can get what they want in a
relationship. The next thing the Skyy Vodka appeals to is power this is obvious because of the
body language, clothes, red setting and title. The other thing it appeals to is wealth from which is

every single time a dose was given and the patient would have a record of the medication they are
taking. The personnel involved in my plan would be the hospital pharmacist or IT department to
send down or make available to nursing staff handouts or database available to access on each
medication that is being administered to each patient while being hospitalized.
Expectations and Obstacles
My expectations from implementing this action would be that more patients are aware of why a
medication is being administered to them and what reactions could possibly happen. In addition I
feel that doing so would help element medication distribution errors. The printing of medications
being administered would have an increase on the budget due to the paper cost and ink as well as
time of staff. Some obstacles that I feel may occur is that with the shortage of hospital staff is that
they would not want to take the extra time to explain to each and every patient why they are being
given a certain medication. However, implementing a medication awareness program to

The Scopes Monkey Trial
In the United States, the early 1920s was a time of shifting and conflicting moral values due to
people attempting to see which values would dominate the nation s culture. One conflict was
between science and religion; ever since science began to explain what once was unexplainable, it
clashed with religion. Thus, in 1925, the Scopes Monkey Trial revealed the struggle of America s
culture between the forces of Traditionalism and Modernism. The mixture of religion and science
caused one of the most famous debates in American history to occur because ideas were the main
focus instead of an actual crime. The Scopes Trial opened the doors to the conflict between faith
and science that made it the trial of the century.
Dayton is a small beautiful Southern town in Tennessee with only a few thousand inhabitants.
However, in 1925, Dayton was on the front pages of newspapers all over the United States.
Thousands of Americans were arriving to watch the spectacle that happened in this town. Mencken,
one of the reporters that came to see the trial unfold, stated that the Scopes Trial was an
extraordinary opportunity to put the small town of Dayton on the map (Scopes Trial, Mencken s
Trial Account, July 9, p. 1). Not only that, the trial brought Clarence Darrow, the nation s greatest
defense attorney, and William Jennings Bryan, the nation s greatest political orator and three time
presidential candidate, into the trial. Due to these factors, New York Times called it the most

distinct but they both share similar values. Norms can be put into 4 different types such as
Folkways, Mores, Taboos, and Laws. Folkways are defined as a way living while mores are basic
rules to follow, taboos are a neglect of law and laws are a set of guidelines enforced by the Bishop

The Effects Of Sleep On Sleep Pattern
Everyone knows sleep is important. But what most people don t know is that if you do not have
a healthy sleep pattern, you do not get the proper benefits. Your sleep pattern is your daily
rhythms of sleeping and waking. It is best to try and keep a consistent bedtime and wake up
time. Signs that you are experiencing a disruptive sleep pattern are difficulty falling asleep,
frequent awakenings during the night, and/or waking too early. For example, I know I have a
disruptive sleep schedule because I cannot stay asleep and I wake too early. Falling asleep is
easy for me, but I always awaken somewhere between 1 and 4. Sometimes I can fall back asleep
within 10 20 minutes, but other nights I am up for hours. Because of this more often than not I
am awake before my alarm. Impaired sleep can cause a lot of side effects, which I will explain in
the next paragraph. There is an abundance of things that can impair your sleep, many of which can
be easily avoided. For instance, today s society is completely overrun by technology. Almost
everything can be done via computer, smartphone or tablet. Thus, we are constantly using them.
Studies show that the use of technology can significantly impair your ability to sleep. Experts say
you should stop using technology at least 2 hours before bed, yet the majority of people bring their
phones to bed with them. This causes many people to become over stimulated, causing sleep
problems. Other things that can impair your quality of sleep are

Using The Conventional Shopping Processes
Abstract With an increasingly consumerist society, the crowds and queues at the markets and
stores using the conventional shopping processes, are inevitable, our aim is to change that by
making the shopping at a store and maintaining a warehouse easy through Near Field
Communication. The system that we are going to implement cuts down the costs of maintaining a
product serial number based database and most importantly saves time in the checkout process
and hence an expanding customer base for the store that it is implemented in. We intend to make
the system as intuitive as possible so that it can be easily used by people who are not very
technologically aware. We have also decided to add a recommendation engine to our app that will...

Development Of Aging Or Mid Life Crisis
There will come a time when one has to come to terms of aging or mid life crisis. According to
Weaver (2009) the major psychological changes occur in childhood. The author also noted that
Freud also mentioned that all stages of the psychosexual development are also completed in
early childhood (pp.69). Freud and Freud also had differences when it referred to coming of age
(Weaver, 2009). Jung saw mid life not as a crisis, but put the emphasis on growth and maturation
(pp.70). Most of the clients that Freudians seen were experiencing neurosis, this put a different
perspective on their adjustment to life, while Jung s patients were socially adaptable (Weaver,
2009). Jung did not see mid life crisis of balancing the self, social world with a deepening
meaning. Jung thought that people of mid life, were developed, one side, of their life, and now
lacks meaning (Weaver, 2009). Now the existentialist view was in contrast with the
psychodynamic view and believed that people in this stage of life gravitating towards meanings
and values (Frankl, 1967). This was evident of a study done in the 1960 at a Vienna Hospital; it
showed that 55% existential frustration and half expressed life are meaningless (Frankl, 1967).
Carl Rodgers had some similarities with Frankl s perspective on mid life crisis (pp.73). Rodgers
looked at it from a humanistic approach, while asking existential question such as; What is my
purpose? (pp. 73). Rodgers noted that the process of the coming of self is

It was a way of passing knowledge from one mind to the next. A man named Horance Mann
created a coalition of professional teachers in 1837. This group of teachers was modeled after the
Prussian idea of common schooling , or the notion that all of populace deserved the availability
and value of education, no matter level of proficiency or skin color. Age grading was an idea that
Mann had inquired during his time in Prussia. This idea was originally put into effect in
Massachusetts during 1848. Age grading was the design of appointing students by age and placing
them into different grades. The students progressed as time went on, despite what the student s
aptitude may be, with the lecture form of many European universities, in which students were
viewed as submissive receivers of instruction apposed as involved and enthusiastic contributors in
instructing one another. Formerly, students were sectioned into single groups, with ages varying
from the young age of 6 to the adolescence of 14. On the occasion that a student were to terminate

be a stealth element in the game, since one could trigger alarms if you somehow get way too

These bases are pretty lengthy to take out, so if you approach one, you want to be prepared before

Sociology Of South African Sociology
South African sociology (Webster, 2004, p. 28) can be considered as the result of the combination
of different types of sociology due to the various changes that taken place in South African society
throughout its history (Webster, 2004, p. 28). Marxism (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117), which is
one of the main contributors to this sociology, was coined by Karl Marx, a German sociologist who
by observing the various relations within a society came up with his own beliefs on how society
has changed and how it can be improved which have been widely used across the world
(Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117). He believed that in the past, people lived in collective groups
and were not divided by economic status but shared what they had and focused more on
working together than working for each other and this was referred to as communism (Macionis
Plummer, 2012, p. 119). However, Marx suggested that as time progressed people began to fight
for land and possessions and this led to weaker groups being kept as slaves (Macionis Plummer,
2012, p. 18) and were used for the benefit of their capturers and this ultimately created a
distinction between those who had power and those who did not (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p.
119). Marx also suggested that from this came what is known as capitalism (Macionis Plummer,
2012, p. 117), which was the result of technological advancements such as the use of machines to
produce goods in factories (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117)

Metacarpi Reflection
The screenplay Metacarpi is the story of an institutionalized pianist and a lion aspiring friend
whose pursuit of freedom explores ideas of whether we might be happier in an institution if it
allows us to truly be ourselves.
When coming up with the story for the script, I first created the character of Dmitriy and the story
grew out of his character. A simple characterization of Dmitriy is a man struggling to free himself,
whose aura of grandeur and potential for greatness is lost on his environment. Out of this came the
idea of an institutionalized pianist who wants to perform the perfect performance. As the story
grew I added the characters of Sonja, the sister who desperately wants to get her brother out of the
institution, Berta the nun who is the cause of Dmitriy s daily irritation due to her ... Show more

It is through their actions and visual appearance that I chose to show their characteristics. An
example of this would be that at no point in the script does George verbally express that he wants
to dress up as or be a lion, he just does it without talking about it. Instead of explaining it or
mentioning it in dialogue, we have the visual images of George with the lion s mane, George
with the painted on whiskers, and George with the permanently attached stuffed lion tail. The
visual suffices to suggest to the audience that George enjoys dressing up as a lion. The visual was
crucial for the portrayal of Dmitriy s character. I found visual detail allowed me to reveal more
about Dmitriy than the dialogue could. It was also served to represent his journey. The fragile gaunt
Dmitriy in the brocade dressing gown with the bloodied knuckles, barefoot, who becomes the
beaming, tailcoat clad, barefoot Dmitriy. The self isolating Dmitriy who observes his sister through
a window rather than meeting with her, who becomes the embracing brother. These images allow
for a visual representation of Dmitriy s change and

Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in the Solar System. It is the fourth largest
planet by diameter and the third largest by mass. Neptune is 17 times the mass of Earth and is
somewhat more massive than its near twin Uranus, which is 15 times the mass of Earth but not as
dense.[12] On average, Neptune orbits the Sun at a distance of 30.1 AU, approximately 30 times

Executive Summary Overview Agrifarm Company is in the business of buying and selling

All is shipments come from 3 rail cars origins. In addition, all shipments must be routed through
either of two grain processing centers before sending them to the final customer. The object is to
minimize the total shipping cost, therefore selecting the proper shipping route for each carload.
Problem There is a total capacity (rail carloads) of 14 that is available to serve a total demand

Objective Agrifarm Company s main objective is to determine the proper distribution, within a
distribution network, to minimize the total shipping costs to deliver carloads from origin to the
hubs and finally to the customers. To do so, we are given two distribution cost tables that
explain the processing center shipping costs, meaning origin to hubs, and the customer shipping
costs, meaning from hubs to the final customer. Therefore, the cost to ship rail cars of grain
from the origins and hubs will determine the proper distribution of rail cars from origin to
destination. Solution Our optimal solution (total shipping cost) to meet all ten constraints is
$513,000. Origin Muncie will not ship to hub Louisville but will ship 3 rail cars of grain to hub
Cincinnati. Origin Brazil will ship 6 rail cars of grain to hub Louisville but will not ship hub

The Effects Of Socioeconomic Status On Multicultural...
Daily living in the United States has caused many to fall in the clutches of health issues, anxiety,
and depression. Americans have become over whelmed with the worries and struggles of, social
conditions, the racial crisis, and financial difficulties. Unfortunately, there are so many that are not
recognizing these mental obstacles and are carrying on, baring the weight as if these feelings are
normal. This qualifies as Socioeconomic Status(SES). Socioeconomic Status encompasses all of
those factors that exceed one s physical health,......... social conditions, ...... one s sense of well
being...... They are often hindered in their attempts at conquering the disparities that permeate their
reality. (Wimberley, 2015) Within marginalized populations SES is considered a prime predictor of
health/wealth disparities. This situation has reached and all time high with depression alone
affecting 14 million adults each year. (Wimberley, 2015)
Socioeconomic Status has an impact on multicultural social work practice. SES is commonly
conceptualized as the social standing or class of an individual or group. (Association, 2016) In the
United States, a person or family is considered to be living in poverty if their aggregate income is
less than their earned threshold. (Proctor, 2015) This pertains to social work practice, because
many of Americans are feeling the pressures of keeping up with the threshold of society, and at the
same time appear to be focused. Social work

Summary Of Woman Hollering Creek By Gloria AnzaldпїЅa
Cultural expectations have prevented humans from being able to lead their own lives the way they
see fit. Gloria AnzaldГєa and Sandra Cisneros are two notorious Mexican American writers that
wrote extensively about cultural borders and expectations. AnzaldГєa came from the Mexico Texas
border, was a cultural and feminist theorist as well as English scholar, while Cisneros also comes
from a Latino background and speaks from her cultural hybridity to illustrate cultural expectations.
In this paper, I will use AnzaldГєa s Borderlands / La Frontera as a lens for Cisnero s short story,
Woman Hollering Creek to draw connections of cultural and genderexpectations between two
different genres of text.
AnzaldГєa uses ethos as a cultural theory studier to illustrate that culture forces us to make our
beliefs and that expectations create a power struggle in her culture. She claimed that Culture forms
our beliefs. (AnzaldГєa 38) And that Culture is made by those in power men. Males make the rules
and laws; women transmit them. (AnzaldГєa 38) AnzaldГєa goes on to explain that women are
powerless compared to men, and they are beaten anytime they try to break free of their cultural and
familial expectations. She asserts that The culture expects women to show greater acceptance of,
and commitment to, the value system than man. (AnzaldГєa 39) and Woman are made to feel total

all control and women worked as their slave. Women were to support all decisions, cook, clean,

this behavior because women are not supposed to become a speaking subject. For this reason,

Another problem Sarah faces is different visions. Men and women only agree completely when it s

Hybrid Vehicles and Earth s Changing Climate Essays
Motorized Vehicles are one of the most important technologies within our modern world. We use
cars for many reasons, some are to run errands, go to a friend s house, or even on a family
vacation. Transportation plays a huge role in not only America, but also most of the world. Cars
offer fast and reliable hauling from place to place. Technology has led us to cars that emit gasses
that harm the environment but have also pushed us to scientifically advance our system into being
more energy efficient. Hybrid cars are the alternative solution to solving our problem of global
warming. Hybrid cars help our environment a great deal because they are fuel efficient, reduce
pollution, and help preserve our oil and end foreign oil dependency.... Show more content on

Buying a hybrid isn t just saving you money on gas but it also keeps our planet clean. Every time
an automobile burns a gallon of gasoline it releases 22 pounds of carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide
is also a damaging greenhouse gas. Cars account for 76 percent of the carbon monoxide in the
earth s air. Carbon monoxide affects the bloods total capacity for carrying oxygen to the heart,
brain, and other important organs (CEERT). Fuel efficiency isn t just a benefit to saving money;
it is a major benefit for the health of everybody. Instead of clogging the air with unhealthy and
deadly gasses, we can minimize the health issues that are related to the unhealthy atmosphere.
Fuel efficiency is one of the main reasons Americans purchase a new car and with technology
advancing each day; we see the trial and error of the modern world evolve. By the automobile
technology rising, we haven t just found a solution to our problem but have also created a major
problem by polluting the earth. In past years, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were much
lower than they are today. There are more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience
higher levels of pollution than before. The automobile is one of the leading suppliers of pollution in
our cities. They release toxic emissions into our atmosphere that are affecting not only humans but
affecting the world around us. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution.

This report form 1929, focused on the issue of overcrowding in the federal prison system and how
federal judges in Minnesota indicated a need of more federal prison farms in the northern part of
the state. Barstow reasoned that a prison farm could bring income and jobs to the town to make

Barstow recruited the help of Senator Adolph Larson, Dr. Homer p. Dredge, and businessman John

Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic
Diseases?
David Arthur, MS, PA S
The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration
illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other
cause.1 In 2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were
responsible for more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also
referred to as lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle
choice as primary risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle
modification.2 The four primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health
Organization, are cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes
mellitus.3 The power of lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic
diseases of our time is well established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not
being obese, getting at least thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet
consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing
the primary sources of disease and death in western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these
healthy lifestyle choices

What Role Did Socrates Play in Ancient Greece?
In the leading city of Athens 2,500 years ago during the Golden Age, a peculiar philosopher was
born into the reign of Pericles. Socrates went against common religion, influenced social roles and
people, and was the founder of the Socratic Method. Religious opinions affected Socrates life a
great deal. Whereas most Athenians observed polytheism and ... Show more content on

They were very popular but loathed at the same time because of the financial problems they
were causing. For example, the most famous sophist was called Corax. He had a student called
Tisias who refused to pay the fee for his classes, he said Before I started, you promised you
would teach me to persuade anyone to do whatever I wanted. Let me now persuade you not to ask
for your fee. If you still demand it, you did not do what you promised, therefore I owe you nothing.
However, Socrates discredited this, However, not one of these things is true; nor, if you have heard
from anyone that I attempt to teach men and require payment, is this true. (Plato, n.d.). Socrates
irritated people by insisting things that could not be true. Critobulus, who was considered by
many to be the most handsome man in Athens. However, Socrates, with his protruding eyes and
large nose insisted he was more stunning than Critobulus. Socrates defended this by saying things
such as Because while yours see straight ahead, mine, by bulging out as they do, see also to the
sides, and Mine, I consider, granting that Providence made us noses to smell with. For your
nostrils look down toward the ground, but mine are wide open and turned outward so that I can
catch scents from all around. (Zannos, 2004). Another story of Socrates impacting the life of an
individual is shown by the dialogue that he had with a young man he met at a wrestling school
named Lysis. Socrates admitted to

Juvenile Death Penalty Case Study
It appears that the most prominent question that comes from the juvenile death penalty is whether
executing juveniles is uncivilized and unjust. It is important to realize that judicial opinion and
mandatory statues have played a significant role in this developing facet of the capital
punishment debate. However, what is often overlooked is the role public opinion can play on the
outcome have some cases that may be presented to the Supreme Court even if the judiciary view
might be the opposite. The central question examined is the culpability of the juvenile. Now those
who may be in favor of the juvenile death penalty could feel as though the culpability of a minor
should be based on a case by case basis and not consider the culpability level of one offender and
applying that to all. On the other hand, as mentioned earlier, those against the juvenile death penalty

Jazz Dance Essay
My reason for writing this paper is for my lack of attendance during important days for this
course. I apologize for not emailing you. I was resting and attempting to get better in order to be
able to do the group dance. That is what I saw as my ultimate goal. To be able to get back to my
group and learn what they has done. Luckily I have learned the dance, even though I admit I have
struggled learning it. Again I am sorry for not taking the time to email you to inform you of my

Jazz in a dance form, however, originates from the dances of Africans when they were brought to
America on slave ships. This dance form developed alongside jazz music in New Orleans in the
early 1900s. Jazz incorporated unique moves, elaborate footwork, large leaps, rapid turns, and
imaginative improvisation to bring an energetic and entertaining experience. Jazz dance requires the
foundation of classical ballet to embody balance and agility. Jazz dance is viewed in the spotlight
with movies, on stage performances, and in urban areas of the streets and clubs. The
transformation of jazz dance into dance theatre and the important role of professional techniques
and choreography, created modern jazz dance . Beginning in the 1930s and continuing through the
1960s, Jazz dance transformed from its original form into a theatre focused performance form of
dance that required a highly trained dancer. Eventually these highly trained dancers performed a
specific set of movements, which differed greatly from the original form of dance that started in
New Orleans in the 1900s. Also during this time period jazz dance was profoundly influenced by

Mining Industry in Australia Essay
Australia, the large Island continent, has been generously furnished with abundant natural
resources. With these resources, not surprisingly the various kinds of industries utilizing these
resources are emerged in Australia. One of the most important industries is mining. Australia has
the world s largest reserves of several mineral commodities in both minerals and energy resources.
The Miningsector includes all units mainly engaged in mining, including the mineral exploration,
and the provision of a wide variety of services supporting mining and mineral exploration. The

Mining generated from 3.4 percent of Australia s Gross Domestic Product in 1982 83 to 4.6
percent in 2002 03. The mining sector has created the Australian economic growth, especially in
terms of exports. Lewis (2000 ,2) states that the industry makes up around 40 percent of Australia
s merchandise exports each year, contributing around 40 billion dollar annually to the economy.
The value of exports from the mining industry has grown by 95 percent during 1994 2004, 45
percent more than the growth in manufacturing industry and 26 percent more than for all
industries. Australia globally exports mineral commodities to many countries, for instance, Japan,
Republic of (South) Korea and United Kingdom. Japan is the major buyer with approximatly
more than 20 percent of the total export value in minerals each year. Of the countries in this
region, Japan is consistently the main destination for Australian minerals and oil for the period
1988 89 to 2002 03. Its share of total exports of minerals and oil was 27% in 2002 03. (2005
Australia Year Book 2005, 509). These developments can be seen that mining industry is important
to the Australian economy.
There are several impacts on Australian society in demography related to population, immigration
and employment. Gold discoveries had a tremendous impact on all parts of Australia. From 1851 to
1861, Australia s population trebled. O Malley (1988 ,24) claims that the number

Laminated Dough Pastry Recipes
Pastries made of laminated dough are numerous; croissants and millefeuille in France, crescent roll
in US, crispy sfogliatelle and millefoglie in Italy...
Laminated dough is made of alternating layers of dough and fat. It is made bay wrapping the
dough around the fat, shortening or butter. The enclosed fat is then rolled out and folded and the
process is repeated. Folding the dough is also called turn . This process results with large number
of thin and delicate layers of dough and fat. When baked, it becomes flaky, crispy and golden
brown.
Laminated dough can be made of simple mixtures of flour, fat and water like for puff pastry, or it
can contain yeast when made for croissants and Danish pastry. Flour with 11 12,5% of protein is
best suitable for making laminated dough, because it gives the dough enough elasticity to stretch
and enough strength to hold the fat inside. The minimal fat content in the dough is 30%, while
some extra rich pastries can contain up to 80% of fat. It is possible to use vegetable fats for
lamination although butter is much better choice because it gives better texture, flavor and color to
baked pastries. It is ideally to use dry butter beurre sec as it contains more fat compared to regular
butter.

Preparing basic dough this is first step in making laminated dough. Basic dough is rather dry and
firm, because soft dough would easily stretch and break while folding. The dough shouldn t be

Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), our health care system has undergone a
transformation to be inclusive of every American s health care needs. In particular, ACA has
dramatically increased contraceptive coverage for women. Under the ACA s contraceptive
coverage guarantee, also known as contraceptive coverage mandate, all private health plans in the
United States must cover at least one form of contraception in each of the of the 18 methods as
identified in the Food and Drug Administration s(FDA) Birth ControlGuide for women (citation2).

Democrats will support the additional coverage for men. The major health care industry players
such as insurers, employers, and conservative states, may push against strengthening the mandate
because of the extra cost they may incur as a side effect. On the other hand, progressive states,
physicians, hospitals, condom companies, and advocacy groups will likely advocate for the

Relationship Between Convergence And Harry Potter
Convergence has become somewhat vital to the success of a screen text; the number of mediums
it engages with can, to some extent, affect how much of a fan base it creates. The power of the
media producer and the power of the media consumer interact in unpredictable ways stated by
Henry Jenkins. (2006:2) Participatory culture has, in some cases, created the potential for more
enriched franchises that surpass their original purpose, some screen texts can develop a lot further
than expected due to how well received they are. The popularity of the most recognizable film
franchises could be seen as the product of convergence within fan culture. In this essay, I am going
to discuss the relationship between Harry Potterfans and convergence and the various ways the fans
have constructed alternate views of the franchise. I will discuss how Harry Potter has become
globally successful through its convergence and fan culture.
Harry Potter is a relevant case study of convergence because it extends past its original platform,
which was books; there are now Harry Potter video games, merchandise, themed websites and,
the most recent of which, theme parks. In this case, Universal, a company in partnership with
Warner Brothers who own Harry Potter, opened a Harry Potter segment to their original theme
park in 2014 in Florida. This was an effort to bring back the former popularity it once had, such as
when the first book was written in 1997 by J.K.Rowling. The series has become a global

What Makes A Person Whole And Morally Sound
Virtues are what make a person whole and morally sound, they are the good that can come from
behavior or result from something (Dictionary.com). Romans believed that these were what a
mortals life was based off of. The Aeneid Virgil includes many of the virtues that the Romans value,
one being magnitudo animi. Magnitudo animi translates to greatness of the soul. This greatness of
the soul is what a person has from the inside and makes them deal with the hardest decisions or the
easiest. They persevere and in the end come out great. One person or demi god that represents
magnitudo animi is Aenas from The Aeneid. Aenas deals with his struggles and remembers what it
means to have this virtue and is the best example of this. In The Aeneid it goes through the story of
Aeneasand Dido. Aeneas deals with his journey to find Rome due to his destiny and in the course
of this meets Dido, the Queen of Carthage (Line 15 16 Virgil). Dido is so infatuated when she
first sees Aeneas that she instantly wants to break her vow to her dead husband of never being
with another man; I recognize the signs of the old flame, of old desire. But O chaste life, before
I break your laws, I pray that earth may open, gape for me.... (Line 31 34 Virgil). After Dido
prayed to the gods and got their permission. The gods heard her wish and Juno along with Venus
planed the event of the two becoming one; Plan hunting in the forest...while beaters in excitement

False News Bias Essay
Everyday, billions of people read websites, magazines, newspapers, or watch television segments
so they are informed on what is happening in the world. The news is something that so many
people rely on and check constantly. What people aren t aware of however, is that so much of
what they are being told is a lie. False newsis a growing and constant issue in today s society. Fake
news spreads rapidly, changing people s views on the world constantly. However, putting an end
to this media trend has proved to be a struggle. Fake news comes from countless places and spreads

Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the
information that aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not.
According to a recent analysis, information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake
news is divisive . On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and
persuades the ones who do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people
have become more and more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society
that has been completely bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact,
as election day got closer and closer, the most popular stories were derived from false
information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters were trying to make an educated
decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that was not even true. Some
people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But why are people
believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on something,
they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources have been
working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do this is
by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their
sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ( Fake
News and the Internet Shell Game ). Unfortunately, once fake news is produced and in the public,
it can change people s views on the

Perpetual Peace By Immanuel Kant
When discussing politics in modern society, it seems a unshakeable fact that there has never
been nor will there ever be a moral politician; one upon whom the people can rely to consider the
ethics and morality of a decision before enacting it. It is a far cry from Immanuel Kant s more
Enlightenment era beliefs which couriers an optimistic ideal in the ability of people to use reason,
knowledge, and the desire for progress to provide a rational methodology. Kant wrote in his essay
Perpetual Peace that, a true system of politics cannot...take a single step without first paying tribute

He uses the Peloponnesian War to emphasize power, hierarchy, and order in the world; this is a
concept that not only rejects Kant s optimism but can be used to spit in the face of it. States,
Thucydides Realism would argue, do not have the motivation to consider deep, moral reasoning
when decided whether or not to go to war since the motivations of power and self interest are far
too powerful to resist and the leaders so prioritize their place in society that any, and all, action is
designed to maintain that position even at the expense of the nation. Specifically, in the
Peloponnesian War, Thucydides writes that the reasons for war was only the growth of Athenian
power and the fear this inspired in the Spartans. At no point did morality, or the universal
imperative, come into play when making the decision and at no point later did it come into play;
consider the Mytilenian Debate where an Athenian argues that all the adults in Mytilene ought to
be killed regardless of guilt as an example, to prove to their allies that any revolt will be put down
violently. The protest that arises in an appeal to morality is that, rather than trying to terrify the
opposition, [a good citizen] ought to prove his case in fair argument. And, in fact, Kant would
argue that this moment is a prime example for when people attempt to act in a moral imperative

  • 2. Public Incidents As A Moral Panic Since the early 2010s, debate around the sexualisation of children has instigated much social alarm. A number of media articles (Cameron 2010; Critchley 2009; Doherty 2011; Kermond 2012, Jones Cuneo 2009; Snow 2013; Tuohy 2012) have depicted the sexualisation of children as a prevailing social matter which accentuate concepts represented in moral panic discourse. In everyday practices of reporting public and social events, moral panic frequently becomes elicited by society s mass mediated exaggeration of certain social events. What becomes apparent from Critcher s work (2003), is how understandings of public incidents become portrayed as concerning through socially constructed and distorted notions of panic which become widely adopted views. As Cohen (1972) suggests, moral panic becomes a state of panic through the encouragement of important social agents which believe that an ideological perspective is threatened or endangered by a particular view. Thereby to accentuate these notions using moral panic discourse, this essay will investigate whether representations of sexualised children constitute a moral panic contrived by mediated distortions or is truly a concerning societal issue through an analysis of the processual and attributional model (Critcher 2003). Drawing on both discursive models of moral panic will allow a thorough investigation of the catalysts for moral panic involving the sexualisation of children. This paper will demonstrate how moral panic discourse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Does Shakespeare Present Macbeth In Act 7 Scene 7 The age of seven is a year full of beginnings. Children at this age start to continuously ask questions spurred by curiosity. They lack self control and begin to worry more due to their increase in knowledge. This is the age for them when they begin to understand the world around them even though it may be difficult to process. Macbeth experiences these occurrences through his time in Scotland. He constantly questions everything he hears, has increased worryness, and is treated like a seven year by his older peers. As every other seven year, Macbeth is going through this period of refinement which shows he s truly a seven year old. • 4. Summary Of The Novels Numerous characters in the novel use these technologies to further their own goals. Case, the cowboy , hacks various systems for monetary gain but, he is, also, addicted to the matrix and the cyberspace. Case agrees to work for Armitage in exchange for repairs of his nervous system, which grants him back the ability to enter the matrix. He doesn t have any knowledge of what is the objective of their mission. He is motivated, mostly, by the ability to interact once again with the cyberspace and to rise above the condition of a simple meat (Miller and Wagner Martin 57). The interaction with the cyberspace is described as ultimate physical experience and is compared to an orgasm (Roberts 174) Molly states I saw you stroking that Sendai;... McCoy Pauley, Dixie Flatline, is the character who is problematic to the traditional notion of a character. He is a computer program (an algorithm) that can mimic dead s individual personality and habits. He does everything a conscious person does: laughs, answers, possesses a self awareness and the desire to die. However, he can t attain a sense of self identity and, therefore, he isn t real (Roberts 175 177). Armitage, unlike McCoy Pauley, has the body of a real human being. However, as the story progresses characters realize that Armitage is some sort of flesh construct, a ROM personality build around the fragmented identity of a real man named Corto, who was almost killed in a military raid. Eventually, the Corto s personality emerges through Armitage; he is insane and is killed by Wintermute. In contrast, Armitage had self preservation habits. Even though, Armitage was just a programmed personality, built by Wintermute, he seemed more real and human than his actual identity, Corto (Roberts 176 177). For some entire clans, like the Tessier Ashpools, the progress in technology was their demise. Their plan to retain control over their corporation fails as family members become increasingly unstable, most likely due to their unusual existence (cloning and being cryogenically frozen and refrozen in labs): Ashpool kills Tessier, his wife, after she ... (Poe, 5) As the Red Death ravaged through time the question remains, what would happen now? With today s booming populations and frequent trade routes being open 24/7 plagues and other wide spread disease could quickly and effectively wipe out our nation. This pestilence was so powerful that it spread from the ill to the healthy like fire among dry or oily materials. San JosГ© De Moro s Social Responsibility 1.Introduction of research question (500 words) The territory in which the country of Peru is now located has been uninterruptedly occupied for thousands of years. This continuous human settlement in the area has left us with a vast number of archaeological sites, historic buildings and religious structures. The large number of sites in addition to the large artifact collections that can be found in the Peruvian museums creates an almost insurmountable labor for the federal, provincial and local governments, as well as the professionals involved in the various aspects of the preservation of these materials. Despite the richness in its cultural heritage, 9.7% of Peru s 30,973,000 population lives in poverty (Poverty headcount ratio at 2 PPP$ a day). • 13. Social Civilization In Korea The Japanese colonization of Korea made Koreans an easy target of exploitation. Since Japan was in a great need of cheap labor, Korean workers were recruited during 1920s. In this essay, I am going to discuss the significance of institutional racial discrimination targeted towards Korean workers in interwar Japan as a tool of alienation and exploitation. One of the abiding discernments formed in Karl Marxs Capital is that in the colonies of capitalist nation states the apparitions of the law of the supply and demandof labor are crushed. In the home country, the magnificent allurement of capitalist production can be found in its capability to reproduce the wage laborer by regularly setting him or her free, firing him or her and by creating a surplus population that rests in approximate exteriority to capitalist manufacturing as the prerequisite for the commodification of labor power. Regularly handling labor power as a expendable commodity is hence the way capitalist manufacturing can assure that its most nonexpendable commodity labor power is constantly there by the time capitalist manufacturing encounters so called labor shortages during industrial expansion. It is this reproductive apparatus that enables the smug knavery of the Japanese colonial policymaker to envision and to formalize into normalized principles of economic shift, that owners of labor power who are de facto impelled to enter into a relationship of reliance with the wage form can take part in ... These obstacles have shaped everyone and helped them become the person they are today. Challenges are a part of life and everyone will face them at some point in their life, but it is how people handle it that determines their future. This idea can be seen in many pieces of text including the following poems. Invictus by William Ernest Henleyand The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac both convey the idea that obstacles are important in everyone s life and help shape everyone as a person on the way to their dream. Through Invictus William Ernest Henley shows that if people did not run into obstacles in their life, no one would know who they truly are. The use of imagery shows this theme in that it allows the readers to feel and see the pain that the writer is going through. For example, William Henley says, I have not winced nor cried aloud./ my head is bloody, but unbowed (6 8). This device is being used to demonstrate the difficult journey that the author was given to go on, in order reach his dream and be in control of their life. It shows the theme of this poem because it speaks about the low points in a person s life and about how by not giving in they become stronger. This device also shows that though they have been beaten down multiple times they refuse to be broken. Another device that Henley uses is diction. • 19. Characters In George Eliot s The Mill On The Floss George Eliot is a verbose writer, and is exceedingly descriptive when it comes to her characters in The Mill on the Floss. Three central characters Eliot paints with an especially detailed and many layered brush are Maggie, Tom, and Mr. Tulliver. Mr. Tulliver is a decently prosperous farmer, the proprietor of Dorlcote Mill, and the father of Maggie and Tom. In the first dialogue of the story, we learn that Mr. Tulliver s desire is to give Tom a good eddication, an eddication as ll be a bread to him... The two years at th academy ud ha done well enough, if I d meant to make a miller and farmer o him, for he s had a fine sight more schoolin nor I ever got: all the learnin my father ever payed for was a bit o birch at one end and the alphabet at th other, (Eliot 9). Mr. Tulliver s uneddicated country speech is certainly a far cry from the exact Eton grammar of the clergyman he employs as Tom s second school master (Eliot 123). The simple and almost comical nature of Mr. Tulliver is further shown through the medium of his own diction. In a conversation with his wife, Mr. Tulliver attempts to use symbolism to illustrate his point that Bessy Tulliver finds fault in things that aren t just the way she d like them. He tells Mrs. Tulliver, you d want me not to hire a good waggoner, cause he d got a mole on his face... Thus, in 1925, the Scopes Monkey Trial revealed the struggle of America s culture between the forces of Traditionalism and Modernism. According to Weaver (2009) the major psychological changes occur in childhood. The author also noted that Freud also mentioned that all stages of the psychosexual development are also completed in early childhood (pp.69). Freud and Freud also had differences when it referred to coming of age (Weaver, 2009). Jung saw mid life not as a crisis, but put the emphasis on growth and maturation (pp.70). Most of the clients that Freudians seen were experiencing neurosis, this put a different perspective on their adjustment to life, while Jung s patients were socially adaptable (Weaver, 2009). Jung did not see mid life crisis of balancing the self, social world with a deepening meaning. Jung thought that people of mid life, were developed, one side, of their life, and now lacks meaning (Weaver, 2009). Now the existentialist view was in contrast with the psychodynamic view and believed that people in this stage of life gravitating towards meanings and values (Frankl, 1967). This was evident of a study done in the 1960 at a Vienna Hospital; it showed that 55% existential frustration and half expressed life are meaningless (Frankl, 1967). Carl Rodgers had some similarities with Frankl s perspective on mid life crisis (pp.73). Rodgers looked at it from a humanistic approach, while asking existential question such as; What is my purpose? (pp. 73). Rodgers noted that the process of the coming of self is ... Sociology Of South African Sociology South African sociology (Webster, 2004, p. 28) can be considered as the result of the combination of different types of sociology due to the various changes that taken place in South African society throughout its history (Webster, 2004, p. 28). Marxism (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117), which is one of the main contributors to this sociology, was coined by Karl Marx, a German sociologist who by observing the various relations within a society came up with his own beliefs on how society has changed and how it can be improved which have been widely used across the world (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117). He believed that in the past, people lived in collective groups and were not divided by economic status but shared what they had and focused more on working together than working for each other and this was referred to as communism (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 119). However, Marx suggested that as time progressed people began to fight for land and possessions and this led to weaker groups being kept as slaves (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 18) and were used for the benefit of their capturers and this ultimately created a distinction between those who had power and those who did not (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 119). Marx also suggested that from this came what is known as capitalism (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117), which was the result of technological advancements such as the use of machines to produce goods in factories (Macionis Plummer, 2012, p. 117) ... Objective Agrifarm Company s main objective is to determine the proper distribution, within a distribution network, to minimize the total shipping costs to deliver carloads from origin to the hubs and finally to the customers. To do so, we are given two distribution cost tables that explain the processing center shipping costs, meaning origin to hubs, and the customer shipping costs, meaning from hubs to the final customer. Therefore, the cost to ship rail cars of grain from the origins and hubs will determine the proper distribution of rail cars from origin to destination. Solution Our optimal solution (total shipping cost) to meet all ten constraints is $513,000. Origin Muncie will not ship to hub Louisville but will ship 3 rail cars of grain to hub Cincinnati. Origin Brazil will ship 6 rail cars of grain to hub Louisville but will not ship hub Cincinnati. Origin Xenia will not ship to hub Louisville but will ship 5 rail cars to hub Cincinnati. The enclosed fat is then rolled out and folded and the process is repeated. Folding the dough is also called turn . This process results with large number of thin and delicate layers of dough and fat. When baked, it becomes flaky, crispy and golden brown. • 53. Contraceptive Healthcare Coverage Analysis Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), our health care system has undergone a transformation to be inclusive of every American s health care needs. In particular, ACA has dramatically increased contraceptive coverage for women. Under the ACA s contraceptive coverage guarantee, also known as contraceptive coverage mandate, all private health plans in the United States must cover at least one form of contraception in each of the of the 18 methods as identified in the Food and Drug Administration s(FDA) Birth ControlGuide for women (citation2). In addition, Insures most provided this coverage without copayments, deductibles, or out of pocket costs. Unfortunately, due to the wording of preventive care services in ACA legislation,... Men, women, and their families, who are directly affect by the coverage gap, will have a vested interest in this topic as congress makes movement on this policy in the future. Republicans are already dissatisfied with the ACA and will expectedly push against more mandates, while Democrats will support the additional coverage for men. The major health care industry players such as insurers, employers, and conservative states, may push against strengthening the mandate because of the extra cost they may incur as a side effect. On the other hand, progressive states, physicians, hospitals, condom companies, and advocacy groups will likely advocate for the contraceptive coverage mandate for men because of the increased health benefits for society as whole as well as the increases of revenue from vasectomies and condom ... • 54. Relationship Between Convergence And Harry Potter Convergence has become somewhat vital to the success of a screen text; the number of mediums it engages with can, to some extent, affect how much of a fan base it creates. The power of the media producer and the power of the media consumer interact in unpredictable ways stated by Henry Jenkins. (2006:2) Participatory culture has, in some cases, created the potential for more enriched franchises that surpass their original purpose, some screen texts can develop a lot further than expected due to how well received they are. The popularity of the most recognizable film franchises could be seen as the product of convergence within fan culture. In this essay, I am going to discuss the relationship between Harry Potterfans and convergence and the various ways the fans have constructed alternate views of the franchise. I will discuss how Harry Potter has become globally successful through its convergence and fan culture. Harry Potter is a relevant case study of convergence because it extends past its original platform, which was books; there are now Harry Potter video games, merchandise, themed websites and, the most recent of which, theme parks. In this case, Universal, a company in partnership with Warner Brothers who own Harry Potter, opened a Harry Potter segment to their original theme park in 2014 in Florida. This was an effort to bring back the former popularity it once had, such as when the first book was written in 1997 by J.K.Rowling. The series has become a global ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. What Makes A Person Whole And Morally Sound Virtues are what make a person whole and morally sound, they are the good that can come from behavior or result from something (Dictionary.com). Romans believed that these were what a mortals life was based off of. The Aeneid Virgil includes many of the virtues that the Romans value, one being magnitudo animi. Magnitudo animi translates to greatness of the soul. This greatness of the soul is what a person has from the inside and makes them deal with the hardest decisions or the easiest. They persevere and in the end come out great. One person or demi god that represents magnitudo animi is Aenas from The Aeneid. Aenas deals with his struggles and remembers what it means to have this virtue and is the best example of this. In The Aeneid it goes through the story of Aeneasand Dido. Aeneas deals with his journey to find Rome due to his destiny and in the course of this meets Dido, the Queen of Carthage (Line 15 16 Virgil). Dido is so infatuated when she first sees Aeneas that she instantly wants to break her vow to her dead husband of never being with another man; I recognize the signs of the old flame, of old desire. But O chaste life, before I break your laws, I pray that earth may open, gape for me.... (Line 31 34 Virgil). After Dido prayed to the gods and got their permission. The gods heard her wish and Juno along with Venus planed the event of the two becoming one; Plan hunting in the forest...while beaters in excitement ring the glens my gift will be a black ... • 56. False News Bias Essay Everyday, billions of people read websites, magazines, newspapers, or watch television segments so they are informed on what is happening in the world. The news is something that so many people rely on and check constantly. What people aren t aware of however, is that so much of what they are being told is a lie. False newsis a growing and constant issue in today s society. Fake news spreads rapidly, changing people s views on the world constantly. However, putting an end to this media trend has proved to be a struggle. Fake news comes from countless places and spreads at an alarmingly fast rate. Usually, false stories start as a hoax on a small scale website, blog, or even social media post. A journalist from a slightly bigger news... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the information that aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not. According to a recent analysis, information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake news is divisive . On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and closer, the most popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ( Fake News and the Internet Shell Game ). Unfortunately, once fake news is produced and in the public, it can change people s views on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Perpetual Peace By Immanuel Kant When discussing politics in modern society, it seems a unshakeable fact that there has never been nor will there ever be a moral politician; one upon whom the people can rely to consider the ethics and morality of a decision before enacting it. It is a far cry from Immanuel Kant s more Enlightenment era beliefs which couriers an optimistic ideal in the ability of people to use reason, knowledge, and the desire for progress to provide a rational methodology. Kant wrote in his essay Perpetual Peace that, a true system of politics cannot...take a single step without first paying tribute to moralitywhich he believes is not only inextricable from each other but also a necessity since morality can cut through the knot which politics cannot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He uses the Peloponnesian War to emphasize power, hierarchy, and order in the world; this is a concept that not only rejects Kant s optimism but can be used to spit in the face of it. States, Thucydides Realism would argue, do not have the motivation to consider deep, moral reasoning when decided whether or not to go to war since the motivations of power and self interest are far too powerful to resist and the leaders so prioritize their place in society that any, and all, action is designed to maintain that position even at the expense of the nation. Specifically, in the Peloponnesian War, Thucydides writes that the reasons for war was only the growth of Athenian power and the fear this inspired in the Spartans. At no point did morality, or the universal imperative, come into play when making the decision and at no point later did it come into play; consider the Mytilenian Debate where an Athenian argues that all the adults in Mytilene ought to be killed regardless of guilt as an example, to prove to their allies that any revolt will be put down violently. The protest that arises in an appeal to morality is that, rather than trying to terrify the opposition, [a good citizen] ought to prove his case in fair argument. And, in fact, Kant would argue that this moment is a prime example for when people attempt to act in a moral imperative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
