Comparing The Battle Of Shiloh And Bunker Hill
The battles of Shiloh and Bunker Hill are two very important battles to always remember and never
forget about. There are many reasons that they are important and why we talk about them until this
day. These two battles are from different times in history. The battle of Bunker Hill is a battle from the
Revolutionary War, and the Battle of Shiloh is from the Civil War. These battles were significant to
America because there were so many casualties.
The battle of Shiloh, also known as Pittsburg Landing, happened on the morning of April 6th, 1862. It
started off with the Confederates causing a surprise attack on the North. The battle commanders were
Ulysses S. Grant for the Union and Albert Sidney Johnston for the Confederates. This was a

Trigeminal Reflexes
According to the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) guidelines on neuropathic
pain assessment and the American Acade my of Neurology (AAN) EFNS guidelines on TN
management (Cruccu G et al., 2006) the neurophysiological recording of trigeminal reflexes
represents the most useful and reliable test for the neurophysiological diagnosis of trigeminal pains.
(Figure 1.1). In patients presented with pain in the trigeminal territory, trigeminal reflexes offer the
clinician with useful information. Abnormalities are often discovered in divi sions that appear
clinically unaffected. An objective demonstration of dysfunction is provided in all patients with pain
secondary to a docu mented disease, such as symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia, ... Show more content

They are also special regarding the lesions in which they are involved, both at the peripheral level
because of the suscep tibility of some terminal branches, and at the nuclei because of their large size
and the large amount of connections with other centers. Conventional magnetic resonance imaging
studies are often not suffi ciently informative to demonstrate very tiny lesions that could be re
sponsible for an important damage in the brainstem. . Therefore, clini cal neurophysiology and
specifically, the techniques used in the study of the trigeminal functions, remain as convenient
diagnostic and re search tools to document clinically evident lesions or uncover subclini cal
abnormalities. Therefore, an abnormality in the excitability recov ery of the R2 component with no
changes in that of the R1 component would indicate a disorder of the excitability of brainstem
interneurons mediating the R2 component.(Veciana M et al., 2005). Electromyographic (EMG)
investigation of the trigeminal nerve reflex es, including the blink reflex, may provide valuable
additional infor mation about the site of a lesion that cannot be obtained with physical information
(Pardal Fernandez JM et al., 2009). When accurate lo calization of a lesion is possible with EMG,
more tailored MRI exami nations might be possible, limiting MR imaging

The Right And Bear Arms
Christal Blege
April 23, 2015
Professor Swint.
The right to bear arms? Our second amendment right is something that I feel that most Americans
would go to war over. I never grew up around guns, I have never held a gun, or discharged a gun.
More importantly, I have never used a gun to protect me, my property or my family. This is why I fail
to see the fascination people have with the right to own a gun, especially military grade firearms like
assault rifles. Assault rifles were designed to kill people and have no legitimate civilian purpose.
(Infobased Learning 2008) So why then is ok for every ordinary Joe over the age of 21 with a permit
to own one. Statistically speaking one in every three people in the U.S. own at least one firearm, and
of those 48% own four or more firearms. In the past 40 years the percentage of gun ownership has
gone from forty seven percent to thirty four percent. But guns do serve other purposes like protection
and safety.
When having a conversation about gun rights it is clear that it veers towards American standards and
values. It comes back to a very basic question, how big of a role should the government have in our
everyday lives. We put our faith in our justice system most of the time. So when the highest court in
the land gets together and debates and interprets the second amendment to mean that the individual
has the right to own guns, we shouldn t debate it. another argument that gun control supporters use is
,with stricter gun

Reflection On Group Work
This paper will reflect upon the experience of working in a group to produce a poster in partnership
with Lloyd and Kemi. The difficulties and challenges faced will be outlined along with the advantages
and disadvantages of group work. I will seek to be honest about how I felt and will reflect on the final
outcome of our project. Difficulties and Challenges By nature, I am an introvert and deeply reflective.
This at times can be an advantage, allowing me to look at the diamond nature of truth from different
angles. For Group work, however, this is a noticeable hindrance. Working in a group is the last thing I
expected for the first assignment, but I was prepared to take on this challenge and set aside my
negative preconceptions. We began strong, meeting in the Library and immediately delegating tasks. I
arranged to travel to Aylesbury in order to make progress on the project with Lloyd and discovered he
lived five minutes away from my mum! Kemi was unable to join us on this occasion, but we updated
her via Face Time. The project seemed to be gaining traction: we had done research, we had a rough
idea of the content and we were all encouraged by the progress. The first difficulty, however, came in
week 2. I had begun Greek on Mondays and was immediately thrust into a world previously unknown.
It was a thrilling challenge that opened up scores of exegetical insights, but the weekly translation
exercises began to eat away at my time. One of my great weaknesses is the inability

This Way For The Gas, Ladies And Gentlemen By Tadeusz...
The Truth Within the Fiction
It is the camp law: people going to their death must be deceived to the very end, This is the only
permissible form of charity.
This quote was pulled from a segment of the short story, This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Alone, it is merely just a few disturbing words that may give the warm hearted reader some shivers.
But behind these words is a detailed narrative of one day within the gruesome, horrific, violent, Nazi
concentration camps; that would give even a cold hearted reader shivers. Tadeusz Borowski, the
author of this fictional short story, uses his experiences from being held in a Nazi ran concentration
camp, to deliver a detailed first person narrative of what transpired in Nazi Germany. ... Show more

We are introduced to this on both page 36 and 37 when the reader sees the S.S officer demanding
order. On the last paragraph of 36 we see the S.S officer talking to the Canada men saying, Whoever
takes gold, or anything at all besides food, will be shot for stealing Reich property? Understood?
Verstanden? Borowski intentionally leaving the German spelling of understood (verstanden) is just
another way used to allow the reader to become captured into Nazi Germany. This is seen throughout
the story when 1st person dialog is being used, really allowing the reader to feel as if they are being
ordered in the moment and adding more suspense to the command. However, the most powerful
dialog comes between the narrator and an income prisoner. As a prisoner is getting off the train he
timidly asks Borowski s narrator, Sir, what s going to happen to us? This is when he lies and says, ...I
don t know, I don t understand Polish. The reader then learns that man will be executed when the lines,

of not telling the prisoner with the narrator. In some ways at this point the reader

Normality And Pathology Of A Christian Therapist
Normality and Pathology The first factor that a Christian therapist needs to consider is the
demarcation between what is considered a sinful action and psychopathology, or normal and abnormal
behavior. However, some authors believe abnormal behavior cannot be so concisely defined (Bennett,
2011), because assessment of abnormal behavior is affected by numerous factors, including social and
cultural norms and biases. All cultures have their own formal and informal rules for behavior. These
rules delineate the laws governing socially acceptable behavior and moral standards, usually within
clear boundaries. When a particular social or moral behavior exceeds the norms of a specific culture,
that behavior is viewed as abnormal (Butcher, 2007). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third factor in defining normal and abnormal behavior is the ambiguity of the breakpoint. There is
no clear center point for the division between normal and abnormal. Butcher (2009) argued that there
is no universal agreement with regard to when a behavior crosses a line from normal to abnormal, and
irrespective of any definition there is always some kind of flaw present. He continued that the more a
person demonstrates difficulties in particular areas of his/her life, the greater the likelihood of
abnormality. Nevertheless, the term mental disorder is applied to a set of categories and classifications
of abnormal human functioning. Millon (1969) grouped perspectives on mental disorders into four
different categories. First, there are biophysical theories, which assume that physiological processes
are the primary determining factors of psychopathology. Second, there are intrapsychic theories which
assume that psychological factors determine abnormal psychological behavior. Third, there is
phenomenological theory which talks about the unique experience and perception of each individual,
and how that perception is lived out. Lastly, behavioral theories assume that the process of learning
through reinforcement shapes pathology in the individual. In the end, the categorization of mental
disorder is inadequate because it does not do justice to the complexity of cognitive, emotional,
spiritual, behavioral and relational factors that are at work in the development

History Of Modern Day Credit Cards
The History of Modern Day Credit Cards Although credit cards were fist introduced in the early 1900
s, they have continued to evolve and shape the way we as a society buy and pay for items. The
introduction of the credit card has completely changed the way we make purchases, large and small.
Making a large purchase used to mean that the consumer had to save money and pay for the entire
transaction at once, but we can now purchase these items with a credit card. Buying items with a
credit card means the merchant we buy from gets payment in full immediately, but the buyer can make
monthly payments to the credit card company to gradually pay for the purchase. Credit cards had a
humble beginning dating back to the 1900 s. The cards were first used by banks and department
stores, so that customers could charge their purchases at these locations. The drawback, however, was
that the customers could only use the cards at the issuing location and they could not be used
elsewhere. Credit cards were also implemented by oil companies for their employees. In his article
published for the Philadelphia Federal Reserve, Stan Sienkiewicz states that such cards were accepted
only at the business that issued the card and in limited locations. While modern credit cards are mainly
used for convenience, these predecessor cards were developed as a means of creating customer loyalty
and improving customer service. According to MasterCard s article, Banker John Biggins introduced

Consequences Of Obamacare
The unintended consequences of PPACA/ACA a.k.a Obamacare is numerous, however, due to time
limitation, I will explore few of them. ObamaCare requires businesses that do not provide their
employee with health care insurance to pay $2,000.00 in annual tax per employee. As such, businesses
will prefer this option because it is cheaper when compare to the cost of providing health insurance to
each individuals employed by a business. Also, Obamacare requires each states to setup their own
healthcare exchanges, a system in which private insurance company manage Medicaid or have new
Medicaid patience. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court ruled that states do not have to comply with the
Medicaid expansion.

Cosmic Perspective By Neil Degrasse Tyson
Neil Degrasse Tyson points out in his article Cosmic Perspective , first published in the Natural
Magazine in 2007, that if every human were to truly comprehend how stupendous and interraled the
universe is to us, our perspective on humanity would shift from a focus on our distinctions to our
connections. Tyson explores through many examples of the cosmic perspective to prove just how
closely associated we are with the universe. Tyson recalls the day he discovered in biology class that
more bacteria dwell on one centimeter of the colon than people who have ever walked the earth
(1072). This was just the start to the change that would take place on his view of humans as masters of
space to participants in a great cosmic chain of being

Truck Culture of Pakistan
1. Truck Culture of Pakistan:
Art in any form is joy to the eyes. In Pakistan there is this great art (known as Truck Art) which has
captured the imagination of tourists and art lovers from all over the globe. Its not cheap, it s not easy
but a truck owner without a truck art is not acceptable in the Truck Drivers fraternity.
1.1 History of Vehicle Painting in Pakistan
The extraordinary tradition of decorating trucks has its roots in the days of the British Raj when
craftsmen made glorious horse drawn carriages for the gentry. The 1920s the Kohistan Bus Company
asked the master craftsman Ustad Elahi Bakhsh to decorate their buses to attract passengers. Bukhsh
employed a company of artists from the Punjab town of Chiniot, whose ... Show more content on

Two basic types of paintings can be distinguished in the way the truck sides are done. The first is
simple painting , which is basically a picture on each segment on the sides with some additional
ornaments. The second type, which leaves no square inch uncovered, is the Disco Painting . These
disco trucks are the real master pieces. Every time you look at them, you discover new images and
decorations. But whether simple or disco , the paintings on the sides are never identical, and not only
because the name of the owing company is written in Urdu on one side and in Roman on the other.

Example Of A Hero Of Brunhild
Sigurd is an example of a hero who follows a strong moral and ethical code. The most prominent
example of this occurs after he has rescued Brunhild from her castle for the second time while he is
disguised as his friend Gunnar. At this point in the story, Sigurd no longer remembers his love for
Brunhild because of a potion he was given. Therefore, he agrees to take the form of his friend so
Gunnar can marry Brunhild. Sigurd clearly cares very much about doing the right thing and keeping
the promise he made to Gunnar. In fact, Sigurd makes sure to place his sword between him and
Brunhild when they sleep together. It can be argued that Sigurd was willingly being deceptive towards
Brunhild, but this situation does show Sigurd s inner desire to be honorable by helping others and
fulfilling his promises. Additionally, when Sigurd is able recall the fact that he loves Brunhild, it is his
honor and recognition of the fact that she is someone else s wife that prevents him from acting on his
feelings. Bakaridjan Kone is another example of a hero who takes pride in his moral and ethical code.
He is even willing to die so that he may act in accordance with it. In the myth, Bakaridjan Kone makes
the imprudent decision to boast that I am so strong that if I were to stamp one foot, so much earth
would give way that the entire kingdom of Segu would be swallowed up! But the people would have
nothing to fear, for I could pull out all of Segu with one finger! But if I were to fall into

PETA Or People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals
Title
The animal rights group PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has been a
controversial group for people inside and outside of the vegan community. PETA is known for
publishing articles exposing factory farms, companies that test on animals, meat industries, etc. Many
people disagree with PETA for the sole reason of them supporting animal rights, but there are also
many people in the vegan community who do not agree with PETA s ideologies. Contrary to what a
lot of people think, the animal rights group, PETA, has a negative social footprint. PETA has gone to
extreme measures to publicize their campaigns, with topics involving falsified rape, the exploitation of
minorities, and have even had cases of animal abuse tried against them. ... Show more content on

Planning
In the planning phase, a Project Charter is provided to all management, stakeholders and those with
significant authority over the company. The Project Charter essentially defines the project. It contains
the objectives of the project describing the deliverables, while also containing a description of the
criteria used to assess when each section is completed, risk assessments and identifies stakeholders
and management (Documentation Consultants, n.d.). The Project Management Plan is also produced
during the planning phase. It contains the project s schedule and milestones, required resources and
cost estimations and budgets.
To start off the planning you must study the current system with the people involved (such as clients,
employees or management). These groups would have meetings to discuss areas of the system that
could be improved and suggest possible solutions. In these meetings, agendas are given out so that
everyone knows what the objectives are. Notes are recorded to be reviewed during requirements

Also included in the analysis phase is a feasibility study. As the name would suggest it simply assesses
if the new system is feasible within the budget and manpower of the company. (Overton, 2007)
It would determine if the project should even be started and if would it be possible to make it within

The Fireflies ( 1988 ) Directed By Isao Takahata And Waltz...
In America, most animated movies incite young audiences. The funny characters and feel good script
entertain children and also gives them moral lessons along the way. The same cannot be said for
international films such as Grave of the Fireflies (1988) directed by Isao Takahata and Waltz with
Bashir (2008) directed by Ari Folman. These animated films contrast each other, not only
cinematically, but in the plotline as well. Wars replay over the main characters in each film, both
inside and outside the war itself. The difference between civilians and soldiers, color and grayscale,
dreams and reality create films which mesmerize the adult audience. Both anime and comic book
animation soften the audience s overwhelming emotions when facing the realities brought by war and
help story tellers create scenes with a specific purpose. The animation used in Grave of the Fireflies
provides child like imagination during World War II. Set in Japan, the plot follows two children torn
away from their parents and struggling to survive on their own. By using anime, the children s harsh
conditions seem unreal, yet powerful. If the director, or producers, used real actors and actresses to
create Grave of the Fireflies, then the audience would find Setsuko and Seita s situation harder to
swallow. Seeing real people ripped from their families and starving on the streets forces people to
accept other realities different from their own. American audiences see how the air raids effected
civilians

The African American Labor Market
from leasing out laborers to desperate white southerners who needed to upkeep their crops and coal
mines.
Although some economic historians (DeCanio, Higgs; 1975, 1977) have concluded that laws aimed at
repressing blacks were largely ineffective because of economic competition amongst blacks, Jennifer
Roback of the University of Chicago Law Review asserts that the convict lease system served as a
exploitive byproduct of white southerners desire to proclaim economic dominance over the African
American labor market. The motives of lessees were not solely economically driven they were racially
discriminatory practices with the intent of keeping African Americans as subservient citizens. Along
the way, white southerners realized that they could use large groups of criminalized African
Americans to build infrastructure, such as railroads, to mine coal and iron, make turpentine, clear land,
and of course, grow cotton. Similarly, state governments realized that they could economically profit
while socially benefiting from having African Americans off the streets and back on plantations. Since
nearly all convicts were black, few whites cared about what happened to them. And if the supply of
convicts fell below the demand, legislators and sheriffs stood ready to increase the supply.
In a sense, pig laws, vagrancy laws, and convict leasing served as negative incentives to freed persons
who were hesitant to enter into labor contracts that offered low pay, long hours, and poor

Comparing Attentional Capture By Rare And Constant, Novel,...
Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant, Novel, Sudden Onset Stimuli
Samuel Tong (450472150)
ABSTRACT
Novel and rare sudden onset stimuli are known to attract attention in different situations. Previously
Yantis Jonides (1990) have shown novel sudden onsets capture attention mainly when attention is
diffuse, and Neo Chua (2006) have shown rare sudden onsets capture attention so long as attention is
not already pre deployed to a stationary target. The current study aims to examine the interaction
between rarity of a novel, sudden onset and attention pre deployment by cues or stationary targets, and
how this interaction affects the attentional capture of novel sudden onsets. In doing so, a better
understanding of how these stimuli affect attentional processes may be established. Based upon the
experimental findings, it is proposed that when a sudden onset stimulus is both rare and novel, the
attentional capture processes when perceiving these stimuli are influenced by perceptual load and
modes of attention. Implications of these findings are discussed further in the paper.
Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant Novel Sudden Onset Stimuli
Attentional capture is controlled by top down, goal orientated processes, or by bottom up, stimulus
orientated processes (Wolfe, 1994, as cited by Emerson Kramer, 1997). Stimuli that appear suddenly,
or sudden onset stimuli, are known to attract attention in a bottom up fashion (Donderi, Zelnicker

physical store and within the community).
In efforts to focus on customer service, more employees were hired and trained. Upper management
also equipped each team member with more technology (PDA s, walkie talkies, etc). There was a
companywide initiative to integrate Hispanic merchandise, marketing and staffing.
Home Depot switched to a regional distribution system while upgrading their internal information

materialized into The Home Depot s stock outs dramatically decreasing.
To create a stronger public image, Home Depot created The Home Depot Foundation which helps
with community home building, disaster relief and veteran job placement assistance.
These initiatives have greatly improved customer satisfaction and recognition in the community by
increasing ratings from 55% to 75% (2008 to 2012).

Economic Development And Economic Growth
Economic development has the potential to transform regions as it creates an enabling environment
for economic growth. Economic development is also associated with expanding the capacity of
individuals and communities to maximize the use of their available resources. The extent of economic
growth depends on the type of the additional products that the economy produces from its investment
projects. It has been an instrumental aspect in the growth of Cincinnati. Cincinnati is comprised of a
diverse and thriving business ecosystem. Economic development has been essential in ensuring that
Cincinnati has a prosperous economic future. It has urbanized at a much more rapid pace than most
other states. The Uptown area of Cincinnati is one of the most vibrant areas of the city, including the
neighborhoods of Mt. Auburn, Avondale, Fairview, Clifton, Corryville and Clifton Heights. Sectors,
such as health care, have experienced steady growth trends to an extent that they have become
consistent contributors to the economic growth of Cincinnati community. With one of the lowest costs
of doing business in the U.S., Cincinnati has become a global business center with more than 450
foreign based companies. Economic benefits have resulted from investment in infrastructure that has
generated a sustainable flow of services valued by Cincinnati users.

How The Behaviours And Body Languages Of Males And Females...
On November 13, I decided to analyze how the behaviours and body languages of males and females
during a bus ride by using participant observation as my method of collecting data (also commonly
known as ethnographic field notes). I did this experiment by taking the Translink #49 bus from the
University of British Columbia bus loop at 1 PM in the afternoon to the final stop, Metrotown Station
and rode the same bus back to campus at 6 PM in the evening. I believe the data I have gathered from
this observation is very interesting because in Canada, there is an emphasis on closing the sex gap
between males and females by showing that there are little or no differences (excluding the physical
sense) between the two. Therefore, I was curious if there were behavioural and social variations
between the two sexes in an open space, and I thought that observing other people s actions and body
languages on a public transportation like the bus would be able to answer my questions if there were
differences . I would argue that we can learn a lot from the way we act through the patterns I have
seen and use that to be more conscious about our actions when we hop on a bus ride. Originally, I
expected to find little difference between the two sexes, because I did not anticipate that humans
would act differently due to their sex in a closed space that they had to stay in for a temporary amount
of time. However, my findings have shown that there are varying patterns of behaviour between males

Using careful diction, Mckay chose the word round to conjure up the image of the speaker and reader

participating in questions. When a student got a question correct the teacher would show positive

A Research Study On Human Breast Milk
Human breast milk has being known to play a vital role in providing nutrition to babies. Human breast
milk is a natural source of supply for the baby while producing enzymatic, immunologic, and
hormonal elements to the baby (Kennaugh Lockhart Borman, 2011). During the early 20th century
nearly all babies where fed either with maternal breast milk or donated breast milk. (THE HISTORY
OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1) As time progressed on supplement feeding through the use of
artificial milk became more popular then breast milk. Through history mothers have taken a huge
interest in utilizing supplements of donor breast milk to feed their babies nutritious breast milk. When
maternal milk is inadequate or lacking particularly for high risk or premature infants pasteurized
donor milk is the next best option. Donor milk banking plays an important role in meeting these
recommendations . (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1)
Some history of how breast milk came about goes all the way back to a practice called wet nursing. It
is a practice when children were either breastfed by their mothers or breast fed by friends, relatives or
strangers. (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1)
In the 13th century, European women made more money working as wet nurses than any other
occupation open to women. By early in the twentieth century, awareness of the possibility of disease
transmission, difficulty finding wet nurse s particularly in North America and an increasing number

Essay on The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Jr.
At the beginnings of the 1900s, some leading magazines in the U.S have already started to exhibit
choking reports about unjust monopolistic practices, rampant political corruption, and many other
offenses; which helped their sales to soar. In this context, in 1904, The Appeal to Reason, a leading
socialist weekly, offered Sinclair $500 to prepare an exposé on the meatpacking industry (Cherny). To
accomplish his mission, Sinclair headed to Chicago, the center of the meatpacking industry, and
started an investigation as he declared I spent seven weeks in Packingtown studying conditions there,
and I verified every smallest detail, so that as a picture of social conditions the book is as exact as a
government report (Sinclair, The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And he writes of dishonest politicians and tricky real estate salesmen. At the core of the story, Sinclair
tells about the devastation and the falling apart of Jurgis s family as a result of the ruthless, abusive,
and oppressive nature of work and life in Packingtown. By the end, Jurgis wanders alone, deprived of
all dignity. He comes across a rally of political socialists, hears a speech on socialism, and
enthusiastically converts to that cause. In the last chapters of the novel, Sinclair manifests arguments
for socialism, in the form of speeches that Jurgis hears. The book ends with an appeal of a socialist
speaker to Organize! Organize! Organize! so that Chicago will be ours! Chicago will be ours!
CHICAGO WILL BE OURS! (Sinclair 372 73)
So, according to some critics, it becomes clear that The Jungle is a propaganda destined to promote
socialism over capitalism, and to reveal the hollowness of the American Dream, which capitalists
define it as being the ability for people to improve their lot and to attain their aspiration for better lives
through hard work. Throughout The Jungle, Sinclair portrays the American Dream from a socialist
vision, and illustrates it as being a mere fictitious fantasy by the capitalists in order to keep the
working class blind to the truth and under their everlasting hegemony.
In regards to the American capitalist system, in Sinclair s viewpoint,

Imagery in a Thousand Splended Suns
Sensory imagery is an incredibly important aspect of any well written novel. It is what allows the
reader to experience what is going on in the story with more than just an intellectual understanding of
the material. Without these sensory details it becomes easy for a reader to dismiss or misunderstand
what a character is going through at any point in the story.
An excellent example of both sensory description and imagery is when Laila s home is destroyed in a
rocket attack. The beginning of the scene is of Laila helping bring her family s belongings out of the
house. While on the surface this sounds extraordinarily dull the choice of phrasing and inclusion of
sensory details instead creates an experience in the readers mind that is ... Show more content on

The beauty of the rainbows juxtaposed by the grotesqueness of the bloody chunk of Laila s father
creates a palpable tension and release that can only be crafted with strong sensory details and
descriptions. Hosseini does an amazing job throughout his novel with including rich engaging sensory
driven imagery. This scene of Laila s home being destroyed is just one example of how the author can
arrange words on a page that causes the audience to feel rather than simply understand what is going
on. By using language in this way the reader is compelled to create a much richer and rewarding
experience that would be impossible to have without using sensory details. Without imagery to evoke
an emotional connection one might as well be reading a textbook for information instead of a

To evaluate the cytotoxic ability of WECU, MCF 7 cells were seeded in 6 well plates at a density of
2×104 cells per well. After incubating overnight, the cells were treated with different concentrations of
WECU for 72 h. Thereafter, a MTT solution was added to each well at a concentration of 0.5 mg/mL,

Woodstock was the coalescing of the most influencing artists of their decade making an impact on

outpouring of raw emotion. He learned of the power of music. Woodstock was stationed on a 600 acre

REVIEW OF Routine Immunization Performance In Pakistan
May 11th 24th, 2015
Hashim Elzein Elmousaad
1. Introduction and Background
Socio demography:
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has 4 provinces, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and
Baluchistan besides the federally administered territories and the capital Islamabad. The population of
Pakistan is estimated at 182 million in 2013 with an annual population growth rate of 2%. Pakistan is
having a birth cohort of 6.2 million infants, with 5.82 million surviving infants [1].
Routine Immunization and Polio Eradication:
In 2013 the UN Inter agency Group for child mortality estimation, showed that about 50% of under
five deaths occur in only five countries: India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo
and China [2]. It estimated that Pakistan has a child mortality of 86 per 1000 live birth. About 25% of
these deaths are attributed to vaccine preventable diseases. In recent years the Pakistani routine
immunization program faced many bottlenecks, which resulted in declining and stagnant coverage
rates of all antigens leading to increasing vulnerability of children to vaccine preventable diseases.
Last large measles outbreak was reported to kill more than 306 children [3]. Administrative coverage
data shows relatively high immunization coverage (DPT3 85%) across the last few years. However,
EPI management and partners doubt the data quality and reliability. Strengthening

Education Trends Paper
Education Practices
Educational practices are developed through the results of research and studies showing how theory,
research, and practice work together to achieve positive outcomes (Dignam, Duffield, Stasa, Gray,
Jackson, Daly. 2012. p. 69). A nurse administrator must set a model of excellence to provide the
learner opportunities that encourage current trends in the healthcare setting to ensure quality patient
care. The purpose of this paper is to look at trends in education and how these educational practices
will influence my role as a nurse administrator.
Leadership and Education Trends
In reviewing current trends, educators must take into account adult learning principles that include
three different styles. These styles consist of the auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners. Programs
must be developed to include or to allow the adult learner to choose their preferred learning style. For
example, Donna Wright provides a competency program that is designed around eleven different
elements of competencies.
The evolution of multimedia as an educational medium allows nurse educators additional tools to
promote several learning styles to meet the needs of the adult learner (Lua Pei, Nor Khaira Wahida,
2014. p. 3 ). The development of programs and educational opportunities utilizing evidenced based

The Odyssey, The Ramayana Of Valmiki, And The Bhagavad Gita
War has been treated as an acceptable response to political or personal disagreements. The Bhagavad
Gita shows how a person can have a moral dilemma when faced with the prospect of fighting against
people who are familiar. This story explains how, if there are no other options available to solve a
dispute, then violent conflicts are acceptable responses. The use of armed conflict to resolve any
political or personal disputes has been a theme that is visible in famous warrior stories. The Odyssey,
The Ramayana of Valmiki, and The Bhagavad Gita all deal with conflicts of war and how it can affect
the lives of those involved. Violence as a solution to combat any disagreements or problems has been
viewed as noble and necessary in many stories. Armed conflict and violence has an effect on everyone
involved and the aftermath can be just as destructive as the initial fighting. The characters in these
stories are defined by their status as a warrior and hero. A man s ability to be successful in battle has
been praised in these stories. Odysseus and Rama are both viewed as strong heroes and they have been
praised for the violent actions taken in order to solve the situations in their lives. Arjuna was a warrior
who was expected to fight against loved ones because that was his job as a solider. The nature of war
in these ancient stories showed how accepted and valued violence conflicts were to a hero s status and

current standards of American society, and to prevent the Democrats from ever gaining another

Essay Serbia s Geography and Historical Events
Geography and Historical events
The country of Serbia is located in Southeastern Europe of the Balkan Peninsula between the countries
of Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, and Montenegro. The country in size is only slightly smaller than
that of South Carolina. Serbia has a multitude of varied terrains based on your whereabouts in the
country. For instance, the northern areas of the country known as the Vojvodina zone are recognized
for fertile farm lands. While the eastern side is dominated by limestone ranges and basins of the
Serbian Carpathian Mountains that connect with the Balkans in the Southeast. Perhaps the most
prominent river is the Danube which runs through the northern part of the country including into the
capital, Belgrade. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result was similar to the protests in 1996 with the Socialist party and Milošević eventually
stepped down admitting defeat. With Milošević officially out of the way the country began talks with
the European Union in early 2003.
Politics
The Southeastern European country currently has a republic and since the country s integration with
the rest of the world has been a positive impact. The 2014 Index of Economic Freedom currently has
the country as an overall score of 59.4 which gives it a rank of 95, meaning it is the 95th freest
economy. To put this into perspective the country has a 59.4 while the world average is 60.3.
However, in the regional average 67.1. The country s today score is still a considerable improvement
from its former years where in the early 2000 s it was hovering below 50 and even just above 40. The
political situation in Serbia is continuing to develop especially with the international community.
Serbia applied for membership into the European Union in 2009 and EU accession negotiations are
projected early in 2014. Admission into the European Union would provide tremendous improvement
socially, politically, and economically.
Economy
The economy of Serbia is for the majority a developing service oriented economy, much like the
United States. Under the control of Milošević the country was oppressed and the UN sanctions forced
trade to a slow crawl throughout the country. The NATO bombings of 1999 destroyed much of the

The Kingdom of Heaven
The Kingdom of Heaven
The plot of this movie can be very well defined as a romantic quest for what is right and just in the
world at that time. The film starts off in the early 12th century with a blacksmith called Balian of
Ibelin (who is actually an artificier, or military engineer) that has just lost his wife to suicide and is
given the chance to go to the Holy Land to seek forgiveness for her sin by his long lost father Godfrey
of Ibelin. This becomes his secondary goal upon arriving in Jerusalem because soon after the start of
their journey, Balian s father dies and passes on his legacy to Balian making him the new Baron of
Ibelin. With the title comes the duty of defending Jerusalem in the name of the king and at the same

In fact, it is said that when Guy failed to attack the Muslims in 1183, Baldwin went into a fit of anger
because he wanted them all dead. The movie makes it seem as though Baldwin wanted to keep peace
between the two groups but that was not true because really, he could not stand the Muslims and
would do almost anything to keep the Holy Land out of their hands.
When it comes to Saladin, the film makes it seem as though he was a man of tolerance and respect
when in reality, he took pleasure in watching the decapitation of hundreds of christen soldiers and
civilians alike. Through out his time as ruler of the Muslims, Saladin Preached jihad(or holy war) on
the Christians and made it very clear that his goal was to take Jerusalem by force and kill all of the
people living behind the walls and on the surrounding lands. Saladin as he is portrayed in the film is a
man who chooses to work together with the Christians to try to find a reasonable balance between
groups and holds them in high regard to himself.6 This is very far from any kind of truth at all.
I believe that this was such a big deal for groups when the movie came out because the film made it
seem as though both men wanted a somewhat peaceful solution to obtaining what they desired when
in fact, that was the last thing they wanted. Both men were very respectable from what I can tell, but

Racial Stereotypes And Its Negative Effects On Our Society
Humanity as a whole cannot help but judge one another. A stereotype is a fixed belief about someone s
religion, gender, or social group. Stereotypes can have positive and negative affects on our society.
Often times, people use stereotypes to belittle a group of people. An example of a racial stereotype
would include all Hispanics being illegal immigrants. Racial stereotypes always favor the race of the
holder and put down other races. People use racial stereotypes because it is human nature to recognize
patterns. When seeing these patterns within a specific race people often tend to immediately associate
him or herself within that society. From a positive point of view stereotypes can give confidence and
favor them above a certain group or class of people. Stereotypes such as Asians have high IQs can
make them have confidence in themselves. often times it is hard to live up to a positive stereotype.
Although we think positive stereotyping is a good thing it really is not. Most positive stereotyping sets
the bar unrealistically high and only leaves room for failure. Another example of a positive stereotype
with a negative affect is All black people are good at sports. If a particular African American is not
good at sports then they will feel less than adequate. Positive stereotypes can be depressing to
individuals who are supposed to posses them but fall short. Referring to the article listed as Reality TV

Improvisation Theatre History
Improvisational theatre, often called improv or impro, is the form of theatre, often comedy, in which
most or all of what is performed is unplanned or unscripted: created spontaneously by the performers.
In its purest form, the dialogue, action, story, and characters are created collaboratively by the players
as the improvisation unfolds in present time, without use of an already prepared, written script.
Improvisational theatre exists in performance as a range of styles of improvisational comedy as well
as some non comedic theatrical performances. It is sometimes used in film and television, both to
develop characters and scripts and occasionally as part of the final product. Improvisational
techniques are often used extensively in drama programs to train ... Show more content on

History The earliest well documented use of improvisational theatre in Western history is found in the
Atellan Farce of 391 BC. From the 16th to the 18th centuries, commedia dell arte performers
improvised based on a broad outline in the streets of Italy. In the 1890s, theatrical theorists and
directors such as the Russian Konstantin Stanislavski and the French Jacques Copeau, founders of two
major streams of acting theory, both heavily utilized improvisation in acting training and rehearsal.
Modern Modern theatrical improvisation games began as drama exercises for children, which were a
staple of drama education in the early 20th century thanks in part to the progressive education
movement initiated by John Dewey in 1916. Some people credit American Dudley Riggs as the first
vaudevillian to use audience suggestions to create improvised sketches on stage. Improvisation
exercises were developed further by Viola Spolin in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, and codified in her book
Improvisation For The Theater, the first book that gave specific techniques for learning to do and
teach improvisational

  • 2. Comparing The Battle Of Shiloh And Bunker Hill The battles of Shiloh and Bunker Hill are two very important battles to always remember and never forget about. There are many reasons that they are important and why we talk about them until this day. These two battles are from different times in history. The battle of Bunker Hill is a battle from the Revolutionary War, and the Battle of Shiloh is from the Civil War. These battles were significant to America because there were so many casualties. The battle of Shiloh, also known as Pittsburg Landing, happened on the morning of April 6th, 1862. It started off with the Confederates causing a surprise attack on the North. The battle commanders were Ulysses S. Grant for the Union and Albert Sidney Johnston for the Confederates. This was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trigeminal Reflexes According to the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) guidelines on neuropathic pain assessment and the American Acade my of Neurology (AAN) EFNS guidelines on TN management (Cruccu G et al., 2006) the neurophysiological recording of trigeminal reflexes represents the most useful and reliable test for the neurophysiological diagnosis of trigeminal pains. (Figure 1.1). In patients presented with pain in the trigeminal territory, trigeminal reflexes offer the clinician with useful information. • 4. The Right And Bear Arms Christal Blege April 23, 2015 Professor Swint. The right to bear arms? Our second amendment right is something that I feel that most Americans would go to war over. I never grew up around guns, I have never held a gun, or discharged a gun. More importantly, I have never used a gun to protect me, my property or my family. This is why I fail to see the fascination people have with the right to own a gun, especially military grade firearms like assault rifles. Assault rifles were designed to kill people and have no legitimate civilian purpose. (Infobased Learning 2008) So why then is ok for every ordinary Joe over the age of 21 with a permit to own one. Statistically speaking one in every three people in the U.S. own at least one firearm, and of those 48% own four or more firearms. In the past 40 years the percentage of gun ownership has gone from forty seven percent to thirty four percent. But guns do serve other purposes like protection and safety. When having a conversation about gun rights it is clear that it veers towards American standards and values. It comes back to a very basic question, how big of a role should the government have in our everyday lives. We put our faith in our justice system most of the time. So when the highest court in the land gets together and debates and interprets the second amendment to mean that the individual has the right to own guns, we shouldn t debate it. another argument that gun control supporters use is ,with stricter gun ... • 5. Reflection On Group Work This paper will reflect upon the experience of working in a group to produce a poster in partnership with Lloyd and Kemi. The difficulties and challenges faced will be outlined along with the advantages and disadvantages of group work. I will seek to be honest about how I felt and will reflect on the final outcome of our project. Difficulties and Challenges By nature, I am an introvert and deeply reflective. This at times can be an advantage, allowing me to look at the diamond nature of truth from different angles. For Group work, however, this is a noticeable hindrance. Working in a group is the last thing I expected for the first assignment, but I was prepared to take on this challenge and set aside my negative preconceptions. We began strong, meeting in the Library and immediately delegating tasks. I arranged to travel to Aylesbury in order to make progress on the project with Lloyd and discovered he lived five minutes away from my mum! Kemi was unable to join us on this occasion, but we updated her via Face Time. The project seemed to be gaining traction: we had done research, we had a rough idea of the content and we were all encouraged by the progress. The first difficulty, however, came in week 2. I had begun Greek on Mondays and was immediately thrust into a world previously unknown. It was a thrilling challenge that opened up scores of exegetical insights, but the weekly translation exercises began to eat away at my time. One of my great weaknesses is the inability ... The Truth Within the Fiction It is the camp law: people going to their death must be deceived to the very end, This is the only permissible form of charity. This quote was pulled from a segment of the short story, This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen. Alone, it is merely just a few disturbing words that may give the warm hearted reader some shivers. But behind these words is a detailed narrative of one day within the gruesome, horrific, violent, Nazi concentration camps; that would give even a cold hearted reader shivers. Tadeusz Borowski, the author of this fictional short story, uses his experiences from being held in a Nazi ran concentration camp, to deliver a detailed first person narrative of what transpired in Nazi Germany. ... • 7. Normality And Pathology Of A Christian Therapist Normality and Pathology The first factor that a Christian therapist needs to consider is the demarcation between what is considered a sinful action and psychopathology, or normal and abnormal behavior. However, some authors believe abnormal behavior cannot be so concisely defined (Bennett, 2011), because assessment of abnormal behavior is affected by numerous factors, including social and cultural norms and biases. All cultures have their own formal and informal rules for behavior. These rules delineate the laws governing socially acceptable behavior and moral standards, usually within clear boundaries. When a particular social or moral behavior exceeds the norms of a specific culture, that behavior is viewed as abnormal (Butcher, 2007). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third factor in defining normal and abnormal behavior is the ambiguity of the breakpoint. There is no clear center point for the division between normal and abnormal. Butcher (2009) argued that there is no universal agreement with regard to when a behavior crosses a line from normal to abnormal, and irrespective of any definition there is always some kind of flaw present. He continued that the more a person demonstrates difficulties in particular areas of his/her life, the greater the likelihood of abnormality. Nevertheless, the term mental disorder is applied to a set of categories and classifications of abnormal human functioning. Millon (1969) grouped perspectives on mental disorders into four different categories. First, there are biophysical theories, which assume that physiological processes are the primary determining factors of psychopathology. Second, there are intrapsychic theories which assume that psychological factors determine abnormal psychological behavior. Third, there is phenomenological theory which talks about the unique experience and perception of each individual, and how that perception is lived out. Lastly, behavioral theories assume that the process of learning through reinforcement shapes pathology in the individual. In the end, the categorization of mental disorder is inadequate because it does not do justice to the complexity of cognitive, emotional, spiritual, behavioral and relational factors that are at work in the development ... • 8. History Of Modern Day Credit Cards The History of Modern Day Credit Cards Although credit cards were fist introduced in the early 1900 s, they have continued to evolve and shape the way we as a society buy and pay for items. The introduction of the credit card has completely changed the way we make purchases, large and small. Making a large purchase used to mean that the consumer had to save money and pay for the entire transaction at once, but we can now purchase these items with a credit card. Buying items with a credit card means the merchant we buy from gets payment in full immediately, but the buyer can make monthly payments to the credit card company to gradually pay for the purchase. Credit cards had a humble beginning dating back to the 1900 s. The cards were first used by banks and department stores, so that customers could charge their purchases at these locations. The drawback, however, was that the customers could only use the cards at the issuing location and they could not be used elsewhere. Credit cards were also implemented by oil companies for their employees. In his article published for the Philadelphia Federal Reserve, Stan Sienkiewicz states that such cards were accepted only at the business that issued the card and in limited locations. While modern credit cards are mainly used for convenience, these predecessor cards were developed as a means of creating customer loyalty and improving customer service. • 13. Example Of A Hero Of Brunhild Sigurd is an example of a hero who follows a strong moral and ethical code. The most prominent example of this occurs after he has rescued Brunhild from her castle for the second time while he is disguised as his friend Gunnar. At this point in the story, Sigurd no longer remembers his love for Brunhild because of a potion he was given. Therefore, he agrees to take the form of his friend so Gunnar can marry Brunhild. Sigurd clearly cares very much about doing the right thing and keeping the promise he made to Gunnar. In fact, Sigurd makes sure to place his sword between him and Brunhild when they sleep together. It can be argued that Sigurd was willingly being deceptive towards Brunhild, but this situation does show Sigurd s inner desire to be honorable by helping others and fulfilling his promises. Additionally, when Sigurd is able recall the fact that he loves Brunhild, it is his honor and recognition of the fact that she is someone else s wife that prevents him from acting on his feelings. Bakaridjan Kone is another example of a hero who takes pride in his moral and ethical code. He is even willing to die so that he may act in accordance with it. • 16. The Fireflies ( 1988 ) Directed By Isao Takahata And Waltz... In America, most animated movies incite young audiences. The funny characters and feel good script entertain children and also gives them moral lessons along the way. The same cannot be said for international films such as Grave of the Fireflies (1988) directed by Isao Takahata and Waltz with Bashir (2008) directed by Ari Folman. These animated films contrast each other, not only cinematically, but in the plotline as well. Wars replay over the main characters in each film, both inside and outside the war itself. The difference between civilians and soldiers, color and grayscale, dreams and reality create films which mesmerize the adult audience. Both anime and comic book animation soften the audience s overwhelming emotions when facing the realities brought by war and help story tellers create scenes with a specific purpose. The animation used in Grave of the Fireflies provides child like imagination during World War II. Set in Japan, the plot follows two children torn away from their parents and struggling to survive on their own. By using anime, the children s harsh conditions seem unreal, yet powerful. If the director, or producers, used real actors and actresses to create Grave of the Fireflies, then the audience would find Setsuko and Seita s situation harder to swallow. • 18. The African American Labor Market from leasing out laborers to desperate white southerners who needed to upkeep their crops and coal mines. Although some economic historians (DeCanio, Higgs; 1975, 1977) have concluded that laws aimed at repressing blacks were largely ineffective because of economic competition amongst blacks, Jennifer Roback of the University of Chicago Law Review asserts that the convict lease system served as a exploitive byproduct of white southerners desire to proclaim economic dominance over the African American labor market. The motives of lessees were not solely economically driven they were racially discriminatory practices with the intent of keeping African Americans as subservient citizens. Along the way, white southerners realized that they could use large groups of criminalized African Americans to build infrastructure, such as railroads, to mine coal and iron, make turpentine, clear land, and of course, grow cotton. Similarly, state governments realized that they could economically profit while socially benefiting from having African Americans off the streets and back on plantations. Since nearly all convicts were black, few whites cared about what happened to them. And if the supply of convicts fell below the demand, legislators and sheriffs stood ready to increase the supply. In a sense, pig laws, vagrancy laws, and convict leasing served as negative incentives to freed persons who were hesitant to enter into labor contracts that offered low pay, long hours, and poor ... • 19. Comparing Attentional Capture By Rare And Constant, Novel,... Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant, Novel, Sudden Onset Stimuli Samuel Tong (450472150) ABSTRACT Novel and rare sudden onset stimuli are known to attract attention in different situations. Previously Yantis Jonides (1990) have shown novel sudden onsets capture attention mainly when attention is diffuse, and Neo Chua (2006) have shown rare sudden onsets capture attention so long as attention is not already pre deployed to a stationary target. The current study aims to examine the interaction between rarity of a novel, sudden onset and attention pre deployment by cues or stationary targets, and how this interaction affects the attentional capture of novel sudden onsets. In doing so, a better understanding of how these stimuli affect attentional processes may be established. Based upon the experimental findings, it is proposed that when a sudden onset stimulus is both rare and novel, the attentional capture processes when perceiving these stimuli are influenced by perceptual load and modes of attention. Implications of these findings are discussed further in the paper. Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant Novel Sudden Onset Stimuli Attentional capture is controlled by top down, goal orientated processes, or by bottom up, stimulus orientated processes (Wolfe, 1994, as cited by Emerson Kramer, 1997). • 22. How The Behaviours And Body Languages Of Males And Females... On November 13, I decided to analyze how the behaviours and body languages of males and females during a bus ride by using participant observation as my method of collecting data (also commonly known as ethnographic field notes). I did this experiment by taking the Translink #49 bus from the University of British Columbia bus loop at 1 PM in the afternoon to the final stop, Metrotown Station and rode the same bus back to campus at 6 PM in the evening. I believe the data I have gathered from this observation is very interesting because in Canada, there is an emphasis on closing the sex gap between males and females by showing that there are little or no differences (excluding the physical sense) between the two. Therefore, I was curious if there were behavioural and social variations between the two sexes in an open space, and I thought that observing other people s actions and body languages on a public transportation like the bus would be able to answer my questions if there were differences . I would argue that we can learn a lot from the way we act through the patterns I have seen and use that to be more conscious about our actions when we hop on a bus ride. Originally, I expected to find little difference between the two sexes, because I did not anticipate that humans would act differently due to their sex in a closed space that they had to stay in for a temporary amount of time. However, my findings have shown that there are varying patterns of behaviour between males ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When maternal milk is inadequate or lacking particularly for high risk or premature infants pasteurized donor milk is the next best option. Donor milk banking plays an important role in meeting these recommendations . Essay on The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Jr. At the beginnings of the 1900s, some leading magazines in the U.S have already started to exhibit choking reports about unjust monopolistic practices, rampant political corruption, and many other offenses; which helped their sales to soar. In this context, in 1904, The Appeal to Reason, a leading socialist weekly, offered Sinclair $500 to prepare an exposé on the meatpacking industry (Cherny). To accomplish his mission, Sinclair headed to Chicago, the center of the meatpacking industry, and started an investigation as he declared I spent seven weeks in Packingtown studying conditions there, and I verified every smallest detail, so that as a picture of social conditions the book is as exact as a government report (Sinclair, The ... At the core of the story, Sinclair tells about the devastation and the falling apart of Jurgis s family as a result of the ruthless, abusive, and oppressive nature of work and life in Packingtown. By the end, Jurgis wanders alone, deprived of all dignity. He comes across a rally of political socialists, hears a speech on socialism, and enthusiastically converts to that cause. In the last chapters of the novel, Sinclair manifests arguments for socialism, in the form of speeches that Jurgis hears. The book ends with an appeal of a socialist speaker to Organize! Organize! Organize! so that Chicago will be ours! Chicago will be ours! CHICAGO WILL BE OURS! (Sinclair 372 73) So, according to some critics, it becomes clear that The Jungle is a propaganda destined to promote socialism over capitalism, and to reveal the hollowness of the American Dream, which capitalists define it as being the ability for people to improve their lot and to attain their aspiration for better lives through hard work. Throughout The Jungle, Sinclair portrays the American Dream from a socialist vision, and illustrates it as being a mere fictitious fantasy by the capitalists in order to keep the working class blind to the truth and under their everlasting hegemony. It is what allows the reader to experience what is going on in the story with more than just an intellectual understanding of the material. Without these sensory details it becomes easy for a reader to dismiss or misunderstand what a character is going through at any point in the story. An excellent example of both sensory description and imagery is when Laila s home is destroyed in a rocket attack. • 47. The Kingdom of Heaven The Kingdom of Heaven The plot of this movie can be very well defined as a romantic quest for what is right and just in the world at that time. The film starts off in the early 12th century with a blacksmith called Balian of Ibelin (who is actually an artificier, or military engineer) that has just lost his wife to suicide and is given the chance to go to the Holy Land to seek forgiveness for her sin by his long lost father Godfrey of Ibelin. This becomes his secondary goal upon arriving in Jerusalem because soon after the start of their journey, Balian s father dies and passes on his legacy to Balian making him the new Baron of Ibelin. With the title comes the duty of defending Jerusalem in the name of the king and at the same time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it is said that when Guy failed to attack the Muslims in 1183, Baldwin went into a fit of anger because he wanted them all dead. The movie makes it seem as though Baldwin wanted to keep peace between the two groups but that was not true because really, he could not stand the Muslims and would do almost anything to keep the Holy Land out of their hands. When it comes to Saladin, the film makes it seem as though he was a man of tolerance and respect when in reality, he took pleasure in watching the decapitation of hundreds of christen soldiers and civilians alike. Through out his time as ruler of the Muslims, Saladin Preached jihad(or holy war) on the Christians and made it very clear that his goal was to take Jerusalem by force and kill all of the people living behind the walls and on the surrounding lands. Saladin as he is portrayed in the film is a man who chooses to work together with the Christians to try to find a reasonable balance between groups and holds them in high regard to himself.6 This is very far from any kind of truth at all. I believe that this was such a big deal for groups when the movie came out because the film made it seem as though both men wanted a somewhat peaceful solution to obtaining what they desired when in fact, that was the last thing they wanted. Both men were very respectable from what I can tell, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Racial Stereotypes And Its Negative Effects On Our Society Humanity as a whole cannot help but judge one another. A stereotype is a fixed belief about someone s religion, gender, or social group. Stereotypes can have positive and negative affects on our society. Often times, people use stereotypes to belittle a group of people. An example of a racial stereotype would include all Hispanics being illegal immigrants. Racial stereotypes always favor the race of the holder and put down other races. People use racial stereotypes because it is human nature to recognize patterns. When seeing these patterns within a specific race people often tend to immediately associate him or herself within that society. From a positive point of view stereotypes can give confidence and favor them above a certain group or class of people. Stereotypes such as Asians have high IQs can make them have confidence in themselves. often times it is hard to live up to a positive stereotype. Although we think positive stereotyping is a good thing it really is not. Most positive stereotyping sets the bar unrealistically high and only leaves room for failure. Another example of a positive stereotype with a negative affect is All black people are good at sports. If a particular African American is not good at sports then they will feel less than adequate. Positive stereotypes can be depressing to individuals who are supposed to posses them but fall short. • 49. Improvisation Theatre History Improvisational theatre, often called improv or impro, is the form of theatre, often comedy, in which most or all of what is performed is unplanned or unscripted: created spontaneously by the performers. In its purest form, the dialogue, action, story, and characters are created collaboratively by the players as the improvisation unfolds in present time, without use of an already prepared, written script. Improvisational theatre exists in performance as a range of styles of improvisational comedy as well as some non comedic theatrical performances. It is sometimes used in film and television, both to develop characters and scripts and occasionally as part of the final product. Improvisational techniques are often used extensively in drama programs to train ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... History The earliest well documented use of improvisational theatre in Western history is found in the Atellan Farce of 391 BC. From the 16th to the 18th centuries, commedia dell arte performers improvised based on a broad outline in the streets of Italy. In the 1890s, theatrical theorists and directors such as the Russian Konstantin Stanislavski and the French Jacques Copeau, founders of two major streams of acting theory, both heavily utilized improvisation in acting training and rehearsal. Modern Modern theatrical improvisation games began as drama exercises for children, which were a staple of drama education in the early 20th century thanks in part to the progressive education movement initiated by John Dewey in 1916. Some people credit American Dudley Riggs as the first vaudevillian to use audience suggestions to create improvised sketches on stage. Improvisation exercises were developed further by Viola Spolin in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, and codified in her book Improvisation For The Theater, the first book that gave specific techniques for learning to do and teach improvisational ...
