• Measured by CROSS TAPE method (over
lapping tape over temporal bone).
• A non-stretchable tapes is placed over the
nasion anteriorly and most prominent
portion of occiput posteriorly
• Measure across most prominent points of
superior orbital ridge (anterior) and
external occipital protuberance (posterior)

• Premature fusion restricts the growth of the skull

• Compensatory skull growth occurs parallel to the affected
suture in order to accommodate the growing brain.
