Chemistry PresentationOnMetalic Bond
Definition of Metallic Bonding	The peculiar type of bonding which holds the atom together in metal crystal is called the Metallic Bonding.
THE ELECTRON SEA MODELMany theories have been proposed to describe the metallic bonding. But we are going discuss Metallic Bonding depending on the most popular theory of Metallic Bonding, which is the- Electron Sea Model.
CHARACTERISTICS of Metal AtomsMetal atoms are characterised by:Low Ionization Energies.A number of vacant electron orbitals in their outermost shell.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES of Metal in METALLIC BONDING
a. REFLECTIVITYThe electrons of the ‘electron sea’ jump into higher energy levels and again immediately return to the ground level. Then the electrons emit electromagnetic radiation or light.
b. ELECTRIC CONDUCTIVITYThe metals are very good electric conductors of electricity. The free electrons of the ‘electron sea’ moves between the vacant space to metal ions which makes them most conductive to electricity.
c. HEAT CONDUCTIVITYThe metal atom is very good heat conductive. If heat is provided to one end of a metal then the heat gets to the other end of the metal by vibrational motion of the electron of the ‘electron sea’.
ConclusionNow I am going to give a review of this presentation we have discussed:The definition of the METALLIC BOND.The ELECTRON SEA MODEL.Characteristics of metal atom in Electron Sea Model. Physical properties of metal atom.
