• My social group is males and females 16-22 audience code D
which students would fit under. My secondary audience 22+
would also fit under this code because a higher audience code
would listen to classical music etc.
• My social group would be interested in music festivals,
socialising etc because they are at a young age.
• My social group in media:
• MIS EN SCENE
Costumes/Props
The image on my double page spread shows how I have used costumes/props to represent
the social group. The shirt represents the causal, cool genre that the social group would listen
too. The lack of smart clothing represents the social group as they wont have much money
therefore will dress more casual.
Also the jewellery represents the social group as teenagers/young adults are quite
materialistic and will be attracted to the model.
The attitude coming across in this image is that the girl looks after her appearance which the
social group will also do.
Lighting
Throughout my magazine the background/lighting is quite dark. I have used this to represent
my social group because the genre of music is gender neutral. The lighting will attract boys
and girls and as the social group is audience code D they will be more interested on how the
magazine looks. A higher social group would prefer a lighter magazine.
The lighting represents a cool, dangerous attitude which my social group will be attracted too.
• LOCATION/ CAMERA ANGLE
The image on my double page spread is a medium shot so you have a clear view of the model.
The image is on the right hand side of the page and the model is looking at the text. This
represents by social group to be interested in the genre as the text has the girls attention. You
can see the girl would be from the same social group so it shows how the social group are
interested in rap/pop music.
The attitude represented by this image is passionate and expressive as her full attention is
taken. This has a link between my magazine and the social group.
• LANGUAGE
This is the main heading and pull quote from my double
page spread and represents the social group because
audience code D do not have a lot of wealth and the
heading shows how the audience can chase the same
dreams. This represents the social group to be passionate
about music. Also the pull quote represents the age of the
social group because teenagers/young adults will want to
have fun in life. The social group is represented as wanting
to chase there dreams and have fun with it at the same
time. The attitude portrayed is a positive one therefore will
make people want to read my magazine.
The heading on my front cover
represents the social group as
audience code D are not very
wealthy and they will be
interested in free tickets to a
concert tour. I have chose to
represent this social group as
they will be interested in the
genre of music and the
heading will attract them.
• BODY LANGUAGE/ MODE OF ADDRESS
On the images on my double page spread the images represent a range of body
language as the model has a serious face which shows she is interested and then
the sub images show the artist laughing and looking directly at the camera. This
represents my social group to be expressive in the genre and creates an upbeat
attitude to the magazine.
The artist is looking straight at the audience and her attention looks distracted.
This makes the social group feel more personal with the magazine and I have
represented them to have a connection with the music. The attitude coming
across in the image is mystery and the social group will be interested by this.
• FRONT COVER
The house style is similar to my
magazine which links to the genre
and social group. The colours are
gender neutral and bright and bold
which teenagers/ young adults will
be attracted too.
The main image is similar to mine as
the artist is looking at the audience
and the costumes will link to the
social group. Audience code D will
be attracted to the tattoos and the
facial expressions are also similar to
my image. By the artist looking at
the audience they are almost
challenging them to buy the
magazine. The young social group
will not be intimated by this
whereas a higher audience code
might be.
The language on the front
cover ‘Eminem comes
clean’ is similar to one of
my headings on the front
cover; ‘ Exclusive how Lil K
made it!’ Both of these
headings explain a journey
a rap/pop artist went
through which will
represent my social group
as they may be having
similar issues. This will
persuade the social group
to buy the magazine and
they will be interested in
the advice/story from a
popular magazine with a
genre they are interested in.
• CONTENTS PAGE
The Kerrang contents page is
similar to mine because of
the ‘This Week’ heading.
This makes the social group
feel more connected the
magazine because the
information is fresh/new.
The editors information is
similar to my magazine and
makes the magazine look
professional. This will suit
the social group because
they will want to find out
as much information as
possible. Teenagers/ Young
adults will be passionate
about the genre so they
will share the same
interest as the editor.
The contents page has a similar
layout to mine as the page is set
out in sections. This lets the
audience know the different
parts to the magazine. The
sections link to the social group
as they are features teenagers/
young adults will be interest in
such as ‘SWAG’ which is oone of
the sections on the Kerrang
contents page.
Although the colours are
different to my magazine
they are both gender
neutral colours. This will
interest my social group as
they are both male and
female.
• DOUBLE PAGE
The image on the double page similar to
mine as they connote the same young,
cool, fashionable image which the
jewellery represents. This also
represents the social group as they will
have the same style as the artist and
therefore share an interest in the
magazine
Also the colour scheme is the same
in my magazine which will satisfy
the audience as all popular rap/pop
magazines have these main colours
because they are bold and stand
out.
The text to image composition is the same as my double page spread because the image is on a seperate page to
the text which makes both aspects stand out. Also there is only one dominant image which draws more attention
to the artist and article. This will link to the social group because they will show an interest in the rap/pop artist.
The dark background also represents the genre which is the same as my magazine. This also makes the text stand
out and represents the social group as rap/pop are more bold and basic colours such as black, white and red. This
means the social group will be interested in the colours

Media question 2

  • 1.
  • 2. • My social group is males and females 16-22 audience code D which students would fit under. My secondary audience 22+ would also fit under this code because a higher audience code would listen to classical music etc. • My social group would be interested in music festivals, socialising etc because they are at a young age. • My social group in media:
  • 3. • MIS EN SCENE Costumes/Props The image on my double page spread shows how I have used costumes/props to represent the social group. The shirt represents the causal, cool genre that the social group would listen too. The lack of smart clothing represents the social group as they wont have much money therefore will dress more casual. Also the jewellery represents the social group as teenagers/young adults are quite materialistic and will be attracted to the model. The attitude coming across in this image is that the girl looks after her appearance which the social group will also do. Lighting Throughout my magazine the background/lighting is quite dark. I have used this to represent my social group because the genre of music is gender neutral. The lighting will attract boys and girls and as the social group is audience code D they will be more interested on how the magazine looks. A higher social group would prefer a lighter magazine. The lighting represents a cool, dangerous attitude which my social group will be attracted too.
  • 4. • LOCATION/ CAMERA ANGLE The image on my double page spread is a medium shot so you have a clear view of the model. The image is on the right hand side of the page and the model is looking at the text. This represents by social group to be interested in the genre as the text has the girls attention. You can see the girl would be from the same social group so it shows how the social group are interested in rap/pop music. The attitude represented by this image is passionate and expressive as her full attention is taken. This has a link between my magazine and the social group. • LANGUAGE This is the main heading and pull quote from my double page spread and represents the social group because audience code D do not have a lot of wealth and the heading shows how the audience can chase the same dreams. This represents the social group to be passionate about music. Also the pull quote represents the age of the social group because teenagers/young adults will want to have fun in life. The social group is represented as wanting to chase there dreams and have fun with it at the same time. The attitude portrayed is a positive one therefore will make people want to read my magazine. The heading on my front cover represents the social group as audience code D are not very wealthy and they will be interested in free tickets to a concert tour. I have chose to represent this social group as they will be interested in the genre of music and the heading will attract them.
  • 5. • BODY LANGUAGE/ MODE OF ADDRESS On the images on my double page spread the images represent a range of body language as the model has a serious face which shows she is interested and then the sub images show the artist laughing and looking directly at the camera. This represents my social group to be expressive in the genre and creates an upbeat attitude to the magazine. The artist is looking straight at the audience and her attention looks distracted. This makes the social group feel more personal with the magazine and I have represented them to have a connection with the music. The attitude coming across in the image is mystery and the social group will be interested by this.
  • 6. • FRONT COVER The house style is similar to my magazine which links to the genre and social group. The colours are gender neutral and bright and bold which teenagers/ young adults will be attracted too. The main image is similar to mine as the artist is looking at the audience and the costumes will link to the social group. Audience code D will be attracted to the tattoos and the facial expressions are also similar to my image. By the artist looking at the audience they are almost challenging them to buy the magazine. The young social group will not be intimated by this whereas a higher audience code might be. The language on the front cover ‘Eminem comes clean’ is similar to one of my headings on the front cover; ‘ Exclusive how Lil K made it!’ Both of these headings explain a journey a rap/pop artist went through which will represent my social group as they may be having similar issues. This will persuade the social group to buy the magazine and they will be interested in the advice/story from a popular magazine with a genre they are interested in.
  • 7. • CONTENTS PAGE The Kerrang contents page is similar to mine because of the ‘This Week’ heading. This makes the social group feel more connected the magazine because the information is fresh/new. The editors information is similar to my magazine and makes the magazine look professional. This will suit the social group because they will want to find out as much information as possible. Teenagers/ Young adults will be passionate about the genre so they will share the same interest as the editor. The contents page has a similar layout to mine as the page is set out in sections. This lets the audience know the different parts to the magazine. The sections link to the social group as they are features teenagers/ young adults will be interest in such as ‘SWAG’ which is oone of the sections on the Kerrang contents page. Although the colours are different to my magazine they are both gender neutral colours. This will interest my social group as they are both male and female.
  • 8. • DOUBLE PAGE The image on the double page similar to mine as they connote the same young, cool, fashionable image which the jewellery represents. This also represents the social group as they will have the same style as the artist and therefore share an interest in the magazine Also the colour scheme is the same in my magazine which will satisfy the audience as all popular rap/pop magazines have these main colours because they are bold and stand out. The text to image composition is the same as my double page spread because the image is on a seperate page to the text which makes both aspects stand out. Also there is only one dominant image which draws more attention to the artist and article. This will link to the social group because they will show an interest in the rap/pop artist. The dark background also represents the genre which is the same as my magazine. This also makes the text stand out and represents the social group as rap/pop are more bold and basic colours such as black, white and red. This means the social group will be interested in the colours
