2. *My magazines target audience are mainly young females pre-
teens who are very much infatuated by pop music today. This
is reflected in my magazine through the pages designed within
my product such as the front cover, contents page and double
page spread. Throughout each page, I have used a female
model to advertise the articles. Doing this attracts the
audience as they may feel as if they can identify to the
model. Stereotypically, pop magazines attract an almost all
female audience, however, I altered my magazine to capture
a wider audience of male readers. I did this through adding
male models on all three practical pieces. The front cover has
various amounts of colours but an obvious pink is dominating.
This is because stereotypically, society’s idea of a ‘girly’
colour is pink, however I wanted to move away from existing
stereotypes such as this so I added more masculine colours
such as blue. This not only makes the cover look aesthetically
pleasing but promotes equality amongst the younger
generation, this may lead to a decline in stigma between both
genders.
3. *My magazine aims its content at mainly an audience of you pre
teen females who have a passion for new pop music. My
magazine reflects an audience who tend to buy the latest
gadgets, such as iPhones or concert tickets for their favourite
artists. They may also keep up with the latest fashion trends
and music lists. They spend most of their free times talking to
their friends over social media such as Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter and even Snapchat. Many young teenage girls are
interested in music that makes them dance and fills them with
joy. The social group represented in this magazine are fully
equipped with latest knowledge of styles and trends. They
want may want to be unique and so this magazine may help
them be different. On the other hand, I did not want to
exclude any other types of social groups in todays generation
and so I used the colours and images in my magazine to attract
a larger crowd.
4. *The age range that this magazine is hoping
to capture us between 7- 15. this is
represented in my magazine in a very
conventional way. For example, my model is
wearing a bright pink summer dress which
represents femininity and innocence.
However, her hair is simple and straightened
which is not stereotypical with this genre of
magazine.
*The articles appeal directly to the target
audience as they are specific to the readers
life. For instance, there is a story on a pop
star who is not as confident as she looks and
so the audience will relate to them. There is
also a fashion box so that the readers can be
up to date with latest trends and talk about
it with friends.
5. This pop magazine will attract young pre teenagers form an
ABC1 background. This is because people from this class are
more financially and economically able to buy the magazine
regularly. This means children are able to ask their parents
to buy this magazine for them on a monthly basis. However,
this magazine ay be able to attract a C2 audience as parents
are able to make money weekly and therefore buy this
magazine for their child as maybe a luxury item.
6. *The main model I have used relates directly to
the social group of young teens. This is because
she is also a young teenager who achieved her
dream of being a singer who appears in all three
pages, front cover, contents page and double
page spread. By having a female on the front
cover it reaches out to a much wider audience
of also male readers so they can become
attracted to the model and this may persuade
them to read on more of what it has to offer. I
also included male artists in the front cover to
appeal to again both genders. This is because
for female, these male figures may be crushes
of theirs and so they feel as if the magazine is
personal to them. It appeals to males who may
like this genre as so inspire them to pursue their
dreams as a male pop star.
7. * I have made a positive representation
of youth by adding innocent sell lines
on the front cover and inspiring stories.
The main artists story provides the
reader with inspiration and motivation.
The front cover provides the audience
with advice and tips on latest fashion
trends and makeup tips. This allows
young pre teens to better themselves,
this could be emotionally as the
magazine could give them self esteem,
and eventually self- actualisation
(which was talked about in Maslow's
Hierarchy). By doing this, it allows the
audience to feel good about themselves
and therefore help the representation
of the youth become more ideal rather
than rebellious. The magazine also
represents people of different races
throughout each practical piece so that
it promotes equality amongst the
youth.
