My social group enjoys going to gigs, nightclubs, and parties. They likely have jobs to afford cars to travel to events and support their interests in music. They wear band merchandise and keep up with new technology like downloadable music.
The magazine targets this social group by featuring a casually dressed model their age as relatable. A variety of camera angles keep readers engaged. The model maintains eye contact to create intimacy. The contents promote upcoming tours and gigs. The editor's note uses another casual, down-to-earth image and tone.
The main article similarly adopts an informal tone in its interview. It provides links to the band's website and music downloads. While following magazine conventions, the key
3. Social Group Interests
My social group hold the interests
of going outside to drink and party
at gigs and nightclubs as part of
the drink culture in youth today. My
social group will most likely have a
driving license and a car to travel
around to gigs and a part time or
full time job (such as MacDonald's
for example) to give them money
so they can look after their cars
and to be able to go out to these
gigs. They will also casually wear
clothing and merchandise from
their favorite bands. My primary
social group are also interested in
the latest technology such as
downloadable music and the
internet so that they can travel
whilst listening to their favorite
bands.
4. How does my magazine attract my
primary social group?
My magazine attracts my primary social
group through the use of my model of
similar age who is wearing casual clothing
making her seem down to earth to make
my model feel more relatable and therefore
identifies better with my primary social
group. I made a variety of camera angles
of mid shots, high and low angle shot and
the rule of two thirds and I chose a wide
variety of camera angles so that the model
won’t become repetitious, keeping my
primary social group visually interested in
my model. My models eyes contact is
concentrated on the viewer as if there is a
intimate connection between the viewer
and model; This is to make the viewer feel
connected and involved to the magazine to
appeal more to the viewer.
5. In my contents page I display what
will be included in my magazine. As
seen here is my model as she is the
main article in my magazine making
the primary social group appeal to the
imagery of my magazine. The topics
included in my magazine include a
majority of bands on tours and gigs to
attract the primary social group to
read up on the topics within so they
my primary social group feels
included, so that they can go to these
events. In my editors note I use an
image of another young adult which
will appeal to the attraction of my
primary social group as they see it as
relatable and I kept the tone in my
introduction within my editors note
very down to earth as my primary
social group relates to a casual tone
as opposed to a formal tone.
6. In my main two page article I had again used a casual
down to earth tone with the use of describing when
the main star in the articles talks to the interviewer
she laughs and this is recorded in the interview. She
also does not speak formally with the use of mild
language and anecdotes from her childhood from her
father.
Again there is very diverse
imagery to keep my
primary social group
visually involved in the
article and the article also
include internet links to the
subjects band website as
well as telling the audience
where to download their
music which appeals to my
social group as my social
group lives in the digital
age and are most
interested in music they
can listen to as they travel
from locations.
7. My magazine follows convention to
similar aspects to other magazine
such as Kerrang! magazine to follow
convention of the genre. In many existing
magazine we have pictures of the model
or multiple models with their eye contact
solely concentrated on the viewer of the
magazine to make the viewer feel more
included within the magazine. There is
sub headings to sell the main sell line to
attract the audience further into buying
the magazine with the use of a famous
band, which my magazine follows as well.
What makes my magazine different is
that I have solely focused on one image
of my model in the magazine, I have also
used sub heading focusing on events that
people can travel too as opposed to
existing magazines like this issue of
Kerrang! where they focus more on
existing bands with little description as to
why they are in their magazine.
