Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior By Amy Chua Essay
People have different ways to raise children, and there is clearly a difference between the Western
and Chinese mothers. It s clearly that it s because of their cultures, that they have dissimilar ways
to raise children. One of the discussable topics of how to raise children is to see the differences
between the Chinese and Western way, which Amy Chua writes about in an article in The Wall
Street Journal. The article Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior is published in the newspaper The
Wall Street Journal on January 8th 2011. Amy Chua writes about the recent topics, in the Western,
about the Asian mothers and how they raise their children, and her way of achieving attention she
uses Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior as a headline to make a controversy among the
Westerners. Chua attends to provoke the reader, as we get in her headline because it s something
which humiliates the reader s way of parenting. Chua uses the appeal pathos by using provocation,

As she mentions that Chinese parents spends approximately 10 times as long every day drilling
with academic activities with their children, then the Western parents, can cause problematic of
clash of cultures. Chinese way of learning is to practice many times a day, and that usually takes
a lot of their children s time to be social with their friends, but they have priorities that comes first
which is perfection Tenacious practice, practice, practice is crucial for excellence; rote repetition
is underrated in America compared to the Western time for being social is their highest priority
Western kids are more likely to participate in sports teams This can create a difficult social gap
between the children and cultures. As if Chinese children have to study and practice all day, then
there will not be time to full fill their social departments, which is a consequence by bringing up a
child outside the

Rennie Mcquilkin The Collecting Poem Summary
Rennie McQuilkin presents meaning in his poems through his precise word choice and use of
figurative language which blends in with carefully chosen ideas and memories. With art being
his main focus, McQuilkin splits up his work into two parts; a narrative beginning and a more
symbolic end in both The Collecting and in Birth of a Poet. The Collecting is one of the poems
in the book North of Eden which is quite literally divided into two separate parts. With that
divide McQuilkin intends to separate the reality and the dream; both of which the narrator
experiences himself. At the beginning, in part I, most of the stanzas are pure description and
not so much of reflection. Uncle slips a hand through the noose of the turtle line, and lowers
himself, this is a good example of the narrator describing what he observed while being on the
boat. Most of the first part is similar to the quote above and McQuilkin mainly plays on the
importance of the details in the story. The word choice in part I is not necessarily complicated,
the author really did intend it to be fully understood. It is challenging to find meaning in the first
few stanzas, however, as the poem continues it becomes easier to recreate the full picture of the
event. Even when he carves away the under shell, rips out the guts, depicts the narrator in part I of
the poem, specifying every little detail. One other unique feature of McQuilkin is that he does not
try to overcomplicate his poetrythrough the use of unnecessary elements; his words are simple but
very thought through. Through the use of figurative language in part II and more specifically
through incorporating metaphors the author is able to capture most of the reader s interest. The
two parts of this poem signify the reality and in contrast, the dream that the narrator is having later
on. Using metaphors McQuilkin is able to add color to the dream of the narrator. It is almost as if
he was trying to connect it to some other event from his memory. The beauty of poetry and art in
general is that there are infinite ways to create an infinite amount of meanings for everyone. The art
McQuilkin creates is both storylike and allegorical this combination strengthens the

Cpr ( American Thoracic Society )
What is CPR? CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. It is a medical technique used to
treat shortness of breath (American Thoracic Society). There are two types of CPR (American
Thoracic Society). The first of these two types is called Basic life Support (BLS) which is the
form of CPR that we see in most movies (American Thoracic Society). In BLS we use a
combination of chest compressions and artificial breathing (mouth to mouth) to stabilize a patient
(American Thoracic Society). The second Type of CPR is called Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) in this form of CPR makes use of a combination of electric shocks, medication, or a
ventilator (American Thoracic Society).
What is CPR meant to treat? CPR can be used to treat Overdoses, excessive bleeding (after the
wound has been wrapped) Heart problems, infections in the blood stream, drowning, strokes,
electrical shocks, choking, lung disease, and poisoning(Heller, J. L. (n.d.). CPR).
In order to preform CPR you must follow the following steps, First Check your surroundings,
make sure there is nothing nearby that will injure your or the person in need of CPR (CPR
illustrated in three simple steps) Next, check for any response from the patient, shout or shake
their shoulders gently in order to check for a response (CPR illustrated in three simple steps). If
there is no respond tilt there head backward to open their airway (CPR illustrated in three simple

This threat is the force of the model which would shape the competitive nature of the fashion and
apparel industry.
The fashion and apparel industry is one of high profits and this is why it has attracted many
competitors. Since there is a slow growth increase within the industry this has increased the
competition and this has caused an increase in the amount of competitors especially quite a bit of
small entrants within the industry. New potential entrants wishing to enter the industry can have an
adverse effect on the existing competitors within the industry which cause issues with the
competitive side of the apparel industry.
The cost to enter the apparel and fashion industry does not require a large amount f capital by new
entrants; costs may end up being high due to the economies of scale. Hence why because of the
overpowering demand of products, the economies of scale cannot be attained by competitors
looking to enter the industry and they are most likely to face considerable

Research Paper On School Shootings
School Shootings
Forty five nationwide shootings occurred in the year 2015 where numerous innocent children were
killed by cold, hearted adults. Enough is enough with these unforgivable tragedies happening again
and again. No matter what schools say about ways already enforced, it is obviously not working
because since the well known shooting of Sandy Hook there has been 142. School is a place to teach
and give knowledge to students in a happy, healthy setting. When kids are going to school they
are not happy to learn when schools have tendencies to be attacked by an insider or outsider.

The Medical And Scientific Aspect Of Happiness
Is Happiness Within Our Grasp of Understanding Happiness is a very broad yet complex topic to
discuss. While most people try to explain happiness with philosophy, I will be writing more about
the medical and scientific aspect of happiness. There are two schools of thought on happiness, first
one being social happiness and the second one being solitary happiness with me learning towards
the former over the ladder. Medically, happiness comes down to a handful of chemicals (also called
neurotransmitters) in the brainand if you are happy or not it comes down to the levels of these
chemicals in the brain.
Endocannabinoids or also known as the bliss chemical, contrary to popular belief adrenaline is not
a cause of runner s high as it can not cross the blood brain barrier but endocannabinoids levels are
elevated after a run suggesting that endocannabinoids are the cause of runner s high. This is in the
same group of chemicals that cannabis THC is in. The Endocannabinoid system is not found in all
animals, it is mainly found in mammals most notable humans and canines. Not very well known
but this is main feel good neurotransmitter.
The reward neurotransmitter called dopamine is the chemical that causes you to feel good after
you reach a set goal you have made. Most drugs make people happy by causing dopamine to
remain in the synaptic cleft longer which is the space between where the neurons (brain cells in
this case) touch other cells. Risk seekers have elevated

Nuclear Bomb Changed History
August 6, 1941, the day that forever changed history. A nuclear bomb by the name of Little Boy
was dropped over Hiroshima, wiping out the city and killing thousands of innocent people
without warning. Three days later another bomb dubbed the name Fatman was dropped over top
of Nagasaki, with the same result. These bombs were dropped as a response to the attack on
Pearl Harbor and wreaked havoc on both cities wiping out almost everything in its path. While
this saved the lives of American soldiers, it killed countless of innocent Japanese citizens. With
the help of this new technology, a war could be won or lost in the blink of an eye. By being the
first to use these bombs, the United States set the bar for nuclear war to be justifiable.

It was understood that fission was capable of making a massive bomb, way more powerful than
chemical energy. According to an article from...............Just one kilogram of plutoniumor uranium
could be capable of producing the same explosion as 20,000 tons of TNT. Scientists used a very
fast nucleus which would run into other nuclei and then produce more and more all the way up
to about 80 times each giving off atomic energy. All of this would happen in one millionth of a
second and produce a temperature that exceeds anything here on earth. It can reach up to about
ten billion degrees. The first thing that happens when a bomb explodes is, there is an initial blast
wave, then there is a electromagnetic pulse followed by a thermal wave. There is also the
radiation damage and then local and global fallout. The initial blast wave will crush anything in its
path with 750 mile per hour air speed. The electromagnetic wave would shut down and damage all
electronics over a huge radius. The thermal wave will burn anyone exposed to it and create many

different key components on having a successful project. One of the few key components in having
a successful Kickstarter, is the story behind the project. In 3Doodler, Not only do they discuss
how they came up with the idea, and the specifications of their prototype, but in addition, they
also discuss and explain what they can actually make with the 3Doodler, either by freehand, or

The Effects Of Sleep Deprivation
Sleep Deprivation. How lack of sleep affects you?
I bet everyone stayed awake for 24 hours at least once a life. Why has sleep deprivation become
such a big issue? Firstly, the global human problem is that teenagers, especially high school or
college students spend their nights on parties, in front of the computers playing games or some of
them even doing their homework. As well, a lot of workers or workaholics spend their nighttime
doing tasks and willing to skip sleep in order to impress their bosses. The second thing is a modern
generation, these days people want to receive food, entertainment, and information 24/7, because of
this, consumers have to stay awake much longer and sometimes they don t even have time to sleep.

Some of symptoms of insomnia are easy to recognize, including mood changes, bad attention,
lack of motivation or energy during a day. Insomnia is not attributable to a psychiatric, medical
or environmental cause. There are three types of primary insomnia: psychophysiological,
idiopathic insomnia, and sleep state misperception (paradoxical insomnia) (Wikipedia). The
main symptom of psychological insomnia is paranoia. As regards to Idiopathic insomnia, this
type of disease begins science childhood and lasts to the rest of a person s life. Actually, it is a
problem in a part of the brain which responds for sleep wake cycle as a result in either underactive
sleep signals or overactive wake signals. Sleep deprivation concerns to car accidents, too. The U.S.
Institute of Medicine reports that almost 20 percent of car accidents happen because drivers are
sleepy (Arianna Huffington). Moreover, lack of sleep is a serious problem in the medical
profession. According to the research, most of medical residents work for exceedingly long
periods, some of them work 30 hours twice a week. Twenty percent of all residents make fatigue
related mistakes that lead to harm patients lives and only five percent made mistakes that resulted
in a patient s death. To conclude, my standpoint is that lack of sleep has no positive effects on the
human body. Studies show that 20 percent of adults

Henry Thoeau once warned Never look back unless you are planning to go that way . This

he can do is look back over his life with regret. Stevens is advised by a gentleman, Don t keep

Thus, some critics believe that he does not want to change , but I believe that he does not know
how to change as he has been stuck in his past for so long. Maybe he has been so blinded by his
aim to please Lord Darlington that he failed to see the opportunities available to him. His
blindness is emphasised as he tells Miss Kenton, The day his lordship s work is complete...only
on that day...will I be able to call myself...a well contented man. His repetition of day cause the
readers to question What will Stevens do on that day? As without his job, he has no purpose, a
realism of which he is blind to. In contrast, Hardy does commit to marriage with his wife, Emma.
However, Hardy fails to appreciate his wife when she was alive, but regrets his neglect towards her

Tim Armstrong, author of Hardy s Poems of 1912 13 , believes that Thomas Hardymay well have
been inattentive to signs of just how serious the illness arising from [Emma s] gall bladder
complaint was . Thus, his inattentiveness towards Emma portrays the lack of attention he showed
her towards the end of their marriage, which is ultimately what he regrets.

herself How shall I let him know... which accentuates that she found it hard to speak to him. In

Water In Ancient Civilisations
Introduction: 150 words Throughout history, the need to control and utilise water stands at the core
of many ancient civilisations. In particular, water sustained life and growth, not only for people, but
plants, crops and animals all required water for survival. However natural sources of water
including, the ocean and rivers were fundamental in the evolution of transportation. The evolution
of transport across time is largely based on the innovation of technology. Advances towards
transportation have long been considered to allow further travel, exploration of new territory and
expanding influence across vaster regions. Such as those in ancient times, inventions such as foot

The roads were not ready for the increasing demand on the heavy and bulk goods needed or
manufactured by the newly emerging industries around this time. (canals and waterways, ware)
As the current paths simply could not handle such weights and the vehicles needed to move this
produce did not exist, canals were the answer to moving heavy objects large distances. Several
interactions are seen within the transportation industry, much to the fact of using shared
technology to provide a different outcome. In this case, during the early stages of the industrial
revolution, mules were the power behind transportation on land. The average mule was capable
of towing around five eighths of a tonne (625kg) worth of goods. However, due to the evolution
of canals and waterways the same mule could carry up to 30 tonnes (30,000kg) which increases
efficiency 48 times more than the previous transportation on land. () Looking at transport as a
whole, the origins began on land, then to sea and eventually air. Each mode of transport carry
similar advantages yet provide unique assistance in terms of technological issues. For example,
water transportation would prove to be an unlikely mode of transport when delivering time critical
goods, whereas air transport would be fitting of the

Essay about Controlling Adolescents Exposure to Violence...
The debate about violence in media, such as video games, has been going on for years now,
however, there is no definite answer on what to do about it. Should adolescents be able to
differentiate between video game fantasy violence and real life? Is it partially the parents fault
for not controlling their access to these games? Perhaps there is more to it than just the scientific
side of things. Adolescents should be able to differentiate violence in video games from real life
and be able to recognize patterns in gender role and age. In turn, adults should be held responsible
for what the adolescents play by controlling access to this media in the first place.

Researchers state that, the most frequently cited mechanism by which the games can result in
aggressive behavior is the social learning theory (Sherry 413). The researchers go on to argue that
since game players are rewarded for performing violent acts in the video games adolescents may
transfer this to the outside world. Another mechanism researchers cite for the effects of violent
video games is the general arousal method. This method says that the highly violent games provide
the arousal that is necessary to become more aggressive (Sherry 413). These arguments are valid
and open up the controversy on video game violence, which has been going on for years.
Video games have been a pan of American life since the 1970s (Bushman and Funk 1). Around
the late 1970s video games were becoming more advanced. This is around the time that the first
violent video game came out. Parents started to become concerned about the themes their children
would grasp from these games. However, it was not until 1992 with the release of Mortal Kombat
(Capcom ) that the debate really escalated (Bushman and Funk 2). Researchers and gamers
constantly collided with each other over the effects of media on adolescents. With the advent of
new graphics and newer systems, video games have gotten much more violent. The new Mortal
Kombat game, Mortal Kombat: Deception (Capcom ) has modern graphics and bloodier fatalities.

Europe and the Black Death Essay

also referred to as the Black Death. During fourteenth century European society, there was no
logical medical knowledge; instead, people resorted to supplementary explanations, such as God

Boccaccio s resident resided in Florence Italy, where he wrote the Decameron from the years 1348
1353 A.D.. Uncoincidentally, the composure date overlaps with the prime infecting period of the
bubonic plague. Boccaccio was a wealthy merchant who produced other literature prior to the
Decameron, reflecting moral attributes of Italian society (Encyclopedia Britannica). Also
occurring in this time was the transition away from everyday use of the Catholic Church s official
language: Latin. The Decameron begins to follow the new trend from other renaissance writers by
composing literature in vernacular form. By composing in colloquial literature, or the everyday
spoken language of the common people , this reveals Boccaccio s potential audience the
commoners, or the whole society, not the specified group of the clergy or Latin readers (Judge and
Langdon 359 6). The language of the allegory s composure and publication reveals more than just
the intended audience; the Decameron also supports motivation behind Boccaccio s production. If
the Catholic Church prompted him to write the story, then the language would correspond with
language of the clergy, Latin. The content in the Decameron is not religious based writing, nor
propaganda, because this author reveals no signs of exterior influence to write this text.

guide the singer in shaping vowels to achieve a more speech like pronunciation. In the complete
Vocal technique, Sadolin replaces the word Belting with Edge, commenting that the term Belting
is a common word to describe loud singing so it was an obvious choice for the name of the full
metallic vocal mode. During my performance practice I found it challenging to sing using belt as I
had previously be trained using the legit model. I found it vocally challenging, as it was a sound
that felt unnatural to my voice. I felt by adopting the belt technique it added more strength behind
my voice and the exercises involved improved my overall performance agility. A Comparative

Musical theatre singers tend to perform with amplification whereas classical singers need to use
their voice in order to project over a large orchestra. Musical theatre singers tend to use less
vibrato than Classical singers. Ken Tamplin from the Vocal Academy interestingly adapts the
Classical Bel Canto technique, which he uses to suit pop and rock vocal genres. There is a
contemporary classical crossover with the use of Belt/ Edge technique. Sadolin comments how
men use Edge in classical musical; however, women do not use this vocal quality unlike Estil. and

MCP-4275PV Essay
General characteristics: The material MCP 4275PV (Figs. 3 6) represents the right ramus of a
hemimandible of about 500 mm length, which is divided in two parts due a median fracture of
taphonomic process. It is noticed that the material was folded over the preservation process, which
the anterior part reached out the posterior part causing the break. The hemimandible features the
lower anterior portion to the rear with respectively 33 mm and 102 mm roughly. The glenoid

The Reflection Of The Myth Of IcarusFoundations
During the pre assessment, the students were given the myth of Icarus and his wings. We were
assessing the students ability to perform three important reading comprehension and literacy skills.
These included identifying the main idea of a text, making connections from the text to their own
personal lives and experiences, and finally, to draw inferences from the text. We collaborated with
our cooperating teacher, Ms. Aviles, in order to design lessons that addressed the students needs
and were relevant to their classroom work. We chose myths as a literary medium to coordinate with
their next unit, which was Ancient Greece, and to expose them to a style of writingthat many had no
prior experience reading. From our pre assessment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The need to implement these scaffolds was concluded through the responses students turned in
during the pre assessment. For example, one student wrote, to have a meaning to the name of the
island of Icaria...It is also to learn the name of the island Icaria. It was very clear this student was
unfamiliar and didn t understand the main idea of the text and that the general plotline was
confused. Another student wrote, I think this myth was made to tell the origin of people with
wings. Both of these student responses indicate that those students had difficulty pulling out the
main idea of the text because they give details that are irrelevant or gives misinformation.
We also tailored instruction based on objective 3 which asks how the myth relates to the students
lives. According to the data we gathered, this was the objective with the highest average scores on
the pre assessment. Since we wanted to make the content culturally relevant and use the students
background knowledge, we wanted to take the end of class during the lessons to do a quick share
out of the questions, specifically, the one that dealt with objective 3. This is so that the whole class
had the opportunity to hear the other students connections and to critically think about their own
experiences. For example, in the pre assessment, one student wrote, It can be related to my life
because, like Icarus, I didn t heed to instructions. People also ruin my plans like Icarus did to

Rudolf Virchow, a German pathologist in 1856, was the first to use the term leukemia which is

he was the first to recognize that white blood cells were made in the bone marrow and not by
the spleen as everyone had believed originally. 1889, Wilhelm Ebstein, used the term acute

chronic leukemias. In 1900, Naegeli was the first person to characterize the myeloblast which is
the malignant cell in the AML. He was able to divide the leukemias into two separate categories

Effects Of Smoking In Restaurants
Smoking in restaurants
One thousand Americans stop smoking everyday by dying said by anonymous. If smoking is
killing people every day, why would we want someone to poison ourselves with deadly air? When
we are in a restaurant and someone is smoking we are breathing the same air that they are. Even
though their lips are on the cancer stick the same toxins they are breathing in is being released in
the air around them. Without proper ventilation (open fresh air), the people around the light cigarette
would be breathing in those same toxins and poisons, which is second hand smoking. Smoking in a
restaurant is not only harmful to the one smoking but to those around them. Smoking can cause
loss of appetite, senses, side effects from second smoking and most of all the rights of a
nonsmoker to not be presented to the smoke. When going into a restaurant, a person wants to
enjoy their meal and time. Especially if they are going and spending money on the luxury. But
did you know that smoking can cause loss of appetite and loss of senses? When someone is
smoking they ingest toxins such as tar and carbine monoxide, which causes the loss of appetite
and senses? So, if someone is going to a restaurant they want to digest the food and drinks that they
plan to order not toxins that causes loss of appetite and senses. In the book Truth About Smoking ,
it concludes about the harms of smoking and the harm that smoking has on the mouth. Smoking
causes gum disease, staining and loss of teeth as well as bad breath. When tar, the solid particles in
tobacco smoke that collect in the lungs, mixes with saliva in the mouth, it coats the teeth. Teeth
take on a brownish color, and flat surfaces where the tar can accumulate can even become black, are
all results of smoke staining teeth. Which can also cause wear on the biting surface of the teeth
which leads to teeth decay. With gum disease the gums recede, they expose the roots of the teeth.
The bacteria in the gum pockets don t just attack the tissue of the gums, they weaken the bone and
the connective tissue that holds the teeth in place. The residue of cigarette smoke remains on the
breath, including the tar particles that stain the teeth. What happens is Saliva washes

SWOT Analysis: Tunisian Energy System
First A. Author, Fellow, IEEE, Second B. Author, and Third C. Author, Jr., Member, IEEE
Abstract The development of Renewable Energy (RE) sources and Energy Efficiency (EE)
technologies is a central aim of the world energy policy. A several international programs and
investments was developed in order to contribute in reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG). The
majority of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries possess substantial potential for
the implementation of such projects. Abatement of GHG emissions can mainly be achieved
through utilizing the abundant RE sources in the region and the implementation of EE measures.
Tunisia belong to those potential countries and is one of the few developing countries that have
developed a proactive policy for the promotion of RE and EE already in 1985. This paper will
present the current status of the Tunisian energy system and the existing policies. An analysis of its
strengths and weaknesses will be also discussed.

Southern Wild Themes
A scene from Beasts of the Southern Wild that I find particularly powerful is when Hushpuppy
comes face to face with the aurochs. The scene depicts an inconceivably large prehistoric bull
snorting in the face of Hushpuppy, a small young girl, who against all odds, does not appear to be
terrified. Hushpuppy s confrontation with the aurochs occurs while her father is dying of cancer.
In this moment, Hushpuppy is literally staring death in the face. However, she manages not to
show any signs of fear. This scene portrays Hushpuppy as powerful and brave. Hushpuppy s calm
and collected attitude brings forth an unexpected glimmer of maturity. The scene alludes to a future

8. Differentiate between the glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid effects of prednisone.
Mineralocorticoids=
The name mineralocorticoid derives from early observations that these
hormones were involved in the retention of sodium, a mineral. The primary endogenous
mineralocorticoid is aldosterone, although a number of other endogenous hormones (including
progesterone and deoxycorticosterone) have mineralocorticoid function.

Aldosterone acts
on the kidneys to provide active reabsorption of sodium and an associated passive reabsorption of
water, as well as the active secretion of potassium in the principal cells of the cortical collecting
tubule and active secretion of protons via proton ATPases in the lumenal membrane of the
intercalated cells of the collecting tubule. This in turn results in an increase of blood pressure and
blood volume.

Glucocortiocoids=
Glucocorticoids (GC) are a class of steroid hormones that bind to the
glucocorticoid receptor, which is present in almost every vertebrate animal cell.

The Use Of Diction In Oedipus The King
King uses controlling diction and animalizes Jack to illustrate his anxiety in dealing with the
resurgence of the wasps, further characterizing Jack as an unstable man who threatens his family s
wellbeing through his lack of stereotypical masculinity. King animalizes Jack by constantly
comparing his behavior with that of a tiger, a stereotypically savage wild animal, indifferent to the

Homosexuality in Eighteenth Century England
Though same sex relationships have been a prominent aspect of many cultures almost since the
beginning of time, there has historically been a significant taboo surrounding the phenomenon in
the Western world. From the Fourteenth Century on, Western Europe was gripped by a rabid and
obsessive negative preoccupation with homosexuality as the most horrible of sins (Boswell 262).
The majority of people did not understand or accept the idea, and consequentially did not have an
appropriate way of talking about it. Over the years, as various cultures identified and even
implemented practices currently associated with homosexuality, there arose a need for common
terminology. Until the eighteenthcentury, it was referred to through the practices... Show more

This recognition of sodomy as the characterizing practice of homosexuals indicates society s
general disregard of women as homosexuals. It was apparently beyond the capability of most people
during the eighteenth century even to consider that women could engage in any practice so
unnatural and strange. Women, themselves, used this disbelief to their advantage, as in the case
of a woman suspected of homosexual involvement, a suspected Mistress Clap, who was asked by
a judge whether she had anything to say for herself. I hope it will be considered that I am a
woman, she replied briefly, and therefore it cannot be thought that I would ever be concerned with
such practices (Hyde 64).
Besides denying any involvement by women in such practices, one of the other beliefs commonly
held in England during the eighteenth century was that young boys learned, or were inadvertently
taught to be homosexual. One widely accepted belief blamed the teaching of such deviance on
their schooling. Male bonding in schools was crucial. Its result was radical female isolation and a
complex pattern of male friendship codes instilled by years of male bonding (Rousseau 144). In
another argument against schools in the charge of encouraging homosexual tendencies, An early
eighteenth century work called Plain Reasons for the Growth of Sodomy in England blames the
custom of sending young boys to kindergartens run by women for

Difference Between Rigid And Rigid Constitution
Rigid and Flexible Constitution
Introduction
The word constitution is commonly used in at least two senses in any ordinary discussion of
political affairs . First of all it is used to describe the whole system of government of a country ,
the collection of rules which establish and regulate or govern the government . These rules are
partly legal , in the sense that courts of law will recognize and apply them , and partly non legal
or extra legal , taking the form of usages , understandings, customs , or conventions which courts do
not recognise as law but which are not less effective in regulation the government that the rules of
law strictly so called.
Constitutions can be classified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They lead us to think that a constitution which contains a number of legal obstacles to its
amendment will be hard to alter and will therefore be less frequently altered than one which
contains fewer obstacles or no special obstacles at all . It is thought that as the name suggest , a
rigid constitution owing to its intricate arrangement of amendment is difficult to amend on the
other hand a flexible constitution can be moulded in the manner a legislature wishes it to. But this
type of distinction may not be true , if the amendment procedure in regard to India is seen , then
we can come to the conclusion that the Indian constitution is not entirely easy to amend , owing to
the provision of two third majority under clause (2) of Art 368, but still we have 100th newest
amendment in our constitution and several other amendments still in pipeleine . The swiss
constitution owing to its amendment procedure can be said as rigid , but in fact it has also been
subjected to frequent amendments . The constitution of Australia , on the other hand , which has
similar provision of amendment as in Swiss constitution , has been amended very few times , as
of 2012, 44 referendums have been held, of which only 8 have been carried

Complexity In Sitcoms
Historically, sitcom has been used to display an aspiration lifestyle, as stipulated by dominant norms
(Brown 1990:18). However, UKS creates narrative complexity by depicting multiple social issues
and conflict, which are brought together by the protagonists friendships. This includes landlady
Lilian s struggles to resist gentrification in season three, Titus continual search for employment, and
all the characters ongoing negotiation of romantic relationships. The humour derived from these
overly familiar topics offers critique on the complexity of contemporary tensions in a society of
employment instability, fast change, and insecure transient neighbourhoods under capitalism
(Wickham 2013:33). The depiction in UKS of friendship reflects... Show more content on

For example, the ongoing joke that the New York basement flat Kimmy and Titus Andromedon
share is actually a Tugboat. The humour created by this is simultaneously simplistic and complex.
The repetition of this joke through all three series of UKS can be used to argue that sitcom is
simplistic because the issue never develops. However, the humour relates to real life issues of
housing and rent in desirable locations under advanced capitalism. Furthermore the humour is
derived from landlady Lilian Kaushtupper s criminal past, demonstrating how the dramatic and
comedic outcome within any sitcom must be the inevitable outcome of those characters within that
scenario at that particular time, as well as being understood by viewers as relating to society
beyond the sitcom. Consequently, this joke simplifies a complex issues without explanation. Yet it
is also complex because the humour functions through multiple levels. Therefore, indicating a
complexity derived from the social and cultural context of the programme. Furthermore, UKS may
date and this joke may no longer be deemed funny in ten or twenty years. This demonstrates how
sitcom complexity relates to the concerns of society at the time the specific programme is created

Analysis of Bluewater Shopping Centre
1,Bluewater Shopping Centre, based in Greenhithe, Kent, is used by many people on a daily
basis to get their everyday needs and presents for their loved ones. It is 150,000m2 containing 330
UK and international brands and 50 restaurants and bars. It also has 13,000 parking spaces
surrounding it with 20 hectares of parkland and 7 lakes, so is not like any other shopping centre in
England. (Bluewater, 2008) Below; (BBC/Lion TV, Telegraph, 2012)

4b,Another way that technology can have an impact on technology is with the technology that
is becoming the new phase in the United States. For example virtual greeters are lately being
assessed in the customer market to see how customers respond which if well will soon be
brought to the UK. Virtual greeters are said to be a lot cheaper to run than to pay employees
which is obviously attracting the business owners as they believe they will save money and
make more profit. Another technology that is being tested is the advice giving mirrors; these
can be used by makeup stools, clothes stores and other personal grooming stores. The mirror will
save companies having to pay employees to give customers advice as the mirror will do it. A
bonus of the mirrors is that a customer can simply hold an outfit up to the mirror and the mirror
will suggest accessories to go with the outfit, although when the mirror is not being used by
customers the retailers can play advertisements or videos via the mirror. Another technology that is
going to affect Bluewater is touch screens; these can be put into stores for customers to compare
different products that are in store without having to search the store itself. This product will be
mostly found in phone stores and retailers that sell more than one brand of the same product, for
example Boots or Superdrug with makeup. (Girard, L,

Essay on Controversial Supreme Court Case Roper V. Simmons
The Death Penalty is a controversial topic on its own. However, if you add the possibility of a
minor receiving the death penalty it gets even more interesting. The Supreme Court case of Roper
v. Simmons was a perfect example of that. Roper v. Simmons presented the Supreme Court with two
questions: 1) whether or not the execution of those who were sixteen or seventeen at the time of a
crime is cruel and unusual punished and 2) does is violate the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendment.
The main audience for this particular case is the general American population, and specifically
affects the juvenile population.

of an innocent woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
KENTUCKY, 492 U.S. 361 1989) The Court later ruled in Atkins v. Virginia (2002) that, mentally
retarded persons were exempt from the death penalty as well, a further sign of society s changing
standards. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002) The decision in Atkins explained that due to
their impairments, it is highly unlikely that such offenders could ever deserve capital punishment.
(ATKINS v. VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002) The reasoning in Atkins is applied to the Simmons
decision. Kennedy argues that because individuals under 18 are categorically less culpable than the
average criminal, they should not deserve the death penalty. Kennedy adds that there are three
differences between juveniles under 18 and adult offenders. First, juveniles often lack the maturity
found in adults, a trait that is understandable among the young and adolescents are overrepresented
statistically in virtually every category of reckless behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543
U.S. 551 2005) The second difference is, that they are more vulnerable to negative influences or
outside pressures and this could lead to deviant behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543
U.S. 551 2005) Lastly, Kennedy asserts that the character of a juvenile is not as well formed as an
adult and that personality traits in adolescents are transitory. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543
U.S. 551 2005) Moreover, because of the comparative immaturity and irresponsibility of

Obsession In Zadie Smith s The Girl With Bangs
The Girl with Bangs is a short story, written by Zadie Smith, that uses many literary element to
collectively convey a general theme to the reader. This interesting story uses stereotypes, irony,
and foreshadowing to express the theme of obsession. Zadie Smith was born Sadie Smith, but
changed her name because that is what felt right. Zadie was born on October 27, 1975 to a
Jamaican mother and an English father. Zadie is a popular author and is known for speaking out
of the norm. She writes about sensitive topics like race and religion. Zadie Smith s The Girl with

Charlotte was having a secret affair with the narrator while she was engaged to Maurice.
Charlotte is obviously not the most faithful or loyal human being, but the narrator seems to have
an amazing relationship with her and is blind by her love to Charlotte. However, once Maurice
returns from Thailand, and the two go to Charlotte s room to talk, someone else was putting his
fingers through her curls (Smith 266). The irony is surreal at this point of the story (but not
surprising as I will explain in the next paragraph), because the narrator believed she had Charlotte
all to herself while she was supposed to be loyal to Maurice. All throughout the affair, Charlotte
was having another affair with a third man and had no remorse for either of them. Neither Maurice
nor the narrator has any idea of the affairs. Despite these horrible actions from Charlotte, the love
towards her from Maurice and the narrator was still immense. True obsession seeps through the
irony in this devastating

Roman Sculpture
Roman sculpture and painting differed mostly for the fact that the status were used to record major
events and also as realistic portrait. As per the paintings, they were used much as decor and to
cover walls than anything else.
The picture depicts a heroic sculpture of Augustus, a military leader who was the first Emperor of
the Roman Empire, controlling Imperial Rome from 27 BC until his death in AD 14 (Hays, 2008).
Roman sculptures were focused in representing the real form of those being portrayed. However, in
the case of rulers, they attempted to make it strong god like images. Unlike the Greek, which
usually tried to created an idealistic human form through their sculptures. The Romans reflected

(Shelby, 2016). Roman paintings were used mostly as wall decoration. They were painted
directly on the walls of their rooms, and also on portable panels (Gunther, n.d.). The main idea
was to bring their windowless interior dark rooms to life, totally changing aspects of these living
spaces. A variety of painting art forms is seeing throughout Roman ancient history. Nevertheless,
Frescoes was the most popular approach seeing in the interior design of ancient Roman buildings.
Fresco painting, method of painting water based pigments on freshly applied plaster, usually on
wall surfaces. The colours, which are made by grinding dry powder pigments in pure water, dry
and set with the plaster to become a permanent part of the wall (Britannica, 2014). These fresco
paintings represented images from the Greek scenery, Roman mythology. Although landscapes
were mostly used to give the impression of a window view. As commonly seen within the Romans,
such art paintings were equally a privilege of the wealthy ones. There are four styles seen
throughout the history of Roman paintings:
First Style originated in the early 2d century BC. It is an imitation of marble veneering, in which
the painted decoration resembles slabs of colored marble
Second Style began in the early 1st century B, opening up the wall by providing an illusion of

Oedipus Downfall Essay example
Prompt: In a well developed essay, consider whether hubris, fate or both are the use of Oedipus
downfall. Use evidence from the text to support your support.
Hubris is defined as excessive pride or self confidence, while fate is defined as the supposed force,
principle, or power that predetermines events. Ancient Greeks believed in Hubris, or pride.
Pride may have been seen as good or bad. Many people that exhibit pride may come off as being
proud of their achievements or lives; however, pride can rise to levels in where it may annoy or
offend others. Therefore, pride may cause ones downfall. Sometime fate can also cause ones
downfall such as pride. , since events in someone s life are predestined. In a play, there may be

On the other hand, the fear of Oedipus fulfilling his prophecy had very little use to his downfall
unlike hubris having a big role in his downfall.
Oedipus destiny or fate had little to do with his downfall. The prophet told Oedipus that he was
destined to kill his father and marry his mother, but the prophet never mentioned Oedipus
murdering Laius on the highway, or solving the Sphinx s riddle, or accepting and taking
advantage of his kingship. Oedipus blinding himself was an example of free will, for he
removed from...[Jocasta s] garment the golden brooches which she was wearing... by choice
...and struck the sockets of his own eyes.. blinding himself Free will and hubris, according to the
ancient Greeks, were separate from unavoidable fate. Oedipus s fate was to kill his father and
marry his mother. However, everything else, including fleeing Corinth, solving the Sphinx s
riddle, and finally pursuing the truth about his life, was by his own free will, a direct result of his
ego and pride. Oedipus Rex is a story about the dangers of pride and arrogance, one teaching about
the importance of humility and tolerance, and one stressing about the control of hubris, a
potentially perilous quality that destroyed Oedipus s vision and his life.

The Role of Eve in Paradise Lost
The importance Milton attached to Eve s role in Paradise Lost and in the Garden of Eden is now
recognised and acknowledged. (Green, 1996) Milton s treatment of Adam and Eve s relationship
is complex. Sometimes referring to them in ways that indicate equality, (ibid) sometimes stressing
their separateness as individuals (ibid) and other times they are complementary halves of a whole.
(ibid) Taking on the view that many support; that Milton intended Eve to seem completely
inferior to Adam, we can examine Eves role in the fall. Traditionally, readers and critics have
responded to Eves actions with compassion and concern. (Revard, 1973) Two critics who
particularly react this way are Dennis Burden and Fresdon Bowes. (ibid) A.J.A Waldock has

If Adam had forced Eve to stay with him, he would have Eve s without free choice. This would
have tarnished the liberty of Eden. (ibid) Adam has tried to make clear to Eve what her
responsibilities are and what her place is in the garden. He has also warned her of the dangers in
the garden. Eve knows also of the dangers of Satan by overhearing Raphael talking about them as
in a shady nook I stood behind. (Levi, 1996) Eve is clearly at a disadvantage in encountering
Satan in an intellectual debate; however Milton does lead the reader to question the role of
intelligence in the poem. It wasn t the intellectually able angles the politically astute Beelzebub
and the rhetorically expert Belial (Revard, 1973 p.76) who unmasked Satan in Book V. Many
feel that Adam is guilty of negligence; however, others feel that he is merely an ineffective
leader. (Revard, 1973) Stella p.Revard goes as far as saying that God is in fact to blame. Since
refusing Eve the permission to leave would break the rules of free will then God is blameworthy
for having left uncompelled the wills of human beings in the first place and having permitted
Satan the opportunity to try them. (Revard, 1973 p.74) Is it only Milton s portrayal of Eve that is
the cause of so much controversy? In examining two different examples of the portrayal of Eve,
the reader can decide if it was Milton who created the controversy surrounding Eve, or if the

Psychoanalytic Theory Of Human Development
Psychoanalytic Theory
Psychoanalytic Theory is a theory of human development that holds that irrational, unconscious
drives and motives, often originating in childhood, underlie human behavior. It is thought to
influence every aspect of thinking and behavior, from the smallest details of life to the crucial
choices of a lifetime. Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human
development were characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body.
Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth.
The lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. They love to
suck on their fingers or pacifier majority of the time, even in their sleep.
Anal Stage (1 3 years)
The anal is the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. During this time children are
beginning toilet training. They are now able to interpret when they need to use the restroom and
able to communicate to the parents when they need to go.
Phallic Stage (3 6 years)
During this stage, the penis is the most important body part, and pleasure is derived from genital
stimulation. This is the time when they begin to discover their genitals, girls may ask questions
while on the other hand, boys may feel a sense of pride.
Latency (6 11 years)
During this age of development sexual needs quieten down and children begin to focus on social
activities with friends.

Quality Improvement Data
Quality improvement data: Using QI instruments to address high readmission rates and
medication errors Keeping track of quality improvement data is essential for all organizations:
not simply for for profit entities, but also for not for profit organizations such as hospitals.
Patient readmission rates and medication errors are serious issues at many healthcare
organizations. Using quality improvement instruments such as a fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram:
which can identify many possible causes for an effect or problem and sorts ideas into useful
categories and a Pareto chart, which shows on a bar graph which factors are more significant
can help pinpoint the root causes of chronic problems that seem to arise from a multitude of
factors (Cause analysis tools, 2013, ASQ). The standard benchmark used by the Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) is the 30 day readmission rate. Rates at the 80th percentile
or lower are considered optimal by CMS В¦A hospital s readmission rate is calculated by dividing
the total number of patients readmitted within seven days of discharge by the total number of
hospital discharges. (Readmission rates, 2013, Mayo Clinic). Keeping readmission rates low is
essential for the hospital to demonstrate a commitment to providing quality care at low cost and a
high readmission rate also can result in reduced Medicare reimbursements as well as reflect
negatively upon the hospital s PR when such reports are released (Can hospital

My Journey In The Philippines
I have always been interested in my heritage, thus I do my best to indulge myself in the culture
of the Philippines here in The United States to the best of my ability. As a result, my pilgrimage
will take place in the Philippines, but not just to go and see the sights and enjoy the food, but to
find a rainbow Eucalyptus tree, The tree is the only Eucalyptus species found naturally in the
northern hemisphere. And yes, it s also native in the Philippines, but it s not found solely in that
part of the country, but in other islands as well, such as Negros. (The Rainbow Tree of Bago
City) This journey will test my knowledge of the botany and wildlife in the Philippines, without
ever being there myself. As well as push me out of my introverted self, being forced to
communicate with random people, to achieve my goal. With the hope of obtaining knowledge and
experiences that my ancestor may have endured that will possibly have a life lasting effect on me.
Within the Philippines, multiple languages are spoken, due to the very tribal attributes that the
Philippines has. Thus, before I begin on my journey, I would have to learn and relearn some of the
languages including, but not limited to, Tagalog, Ilocano, and Bisaya... (Major Languages of the
Philippines) so that I may be able to communicate on my own without the need for an interpreter, to
be somewhat self sufficient. Another barrier will be the weather, for the Philippines tends to have

  • 3. Rennie Mcquilkin The Collecting Poem Summary Rennie McQuilkin presents meaning in his poems through his precise word choice and use of figurative language which blends in with carefully chosen ideas and memories. With art being his main focus, McQuilkin splits up his work into two parts; a narrative beginning and a more symbolic end in both The Collecting and in Birth of a Poet. The Collecting is one of the poems in the book North of Eden which is quite literally divided into two separate parts. With that divide McQuilkin intends to separate the reality and the dream; both of which the narrator experiences himself. At the beginning, in part I, most of the stanzas are pure description and not so much of reflection. Uncle slips a hand through the noose of the turtle line, and lowers himself, this is a good example of the narrator describing what he observed while being on the boat. Most of the first part is similar to the quote above and McQuilkin mainly plays on the importance of the details in the story. The word choice in part I is not necessarily complicated, the author really did intend it to be fully understood. It is challenging to find meaning in the first few stanzas, however, as the poem continues it becomes easier to recreate the full picture of the event. Even when he carves away the under shell, rips out the guts, depicts the narrator in part I of the poem, specifying every little detail. One other unique feature of McQuilkin is that he does not try to overcomplicate his poetrythrough the use of unnecessary elements; his words are simple but very thought through. Through the use of figurative language in part II and more specifically through incorporating metaphors the author is able to capture most of the reader s interest. The two parts of this poem signify the reality and in contrast, the dream that the narrator is having later on. Using metaphors McQuilkin is able to add color to the dream of the narrator. It is almost as if he was trying to connect it to some other event from his memory. The beauty of poetry and art in general is that there are infinite ways to create an infinite amount of meanings for everyone. The art McQuilkin creates is both storylike and allegorical this combination strengthens the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Medical And Scientific Aspect Of Happiness Is Happiness Within Our Grasp of Understanding Happiness is a very broad yet complex topic to discuss. While most people try to explain happiness with philosophy, I will be writing more about the medical and scientific aspect of happiness. There are two schools of thought on happiness, first one being social happiness and the second one being solitary happiness with me learning towards the former over the ladder. Medically, happiness comes down to a handful of chemicals (also called neurotransmitters) in the brainand if you are happy or not it comes down to the levels of these chemicals in the brain. Endocannabinoids or also known as the bliss chemical, contrary to popular belief adrenaline is not a cause of runner s high as it can not cross the blood brain barrier but endocannabinoids levels are elevated after a run suggesting that endocannabinoids are the cause of runner s high. This is in the same group of chemicals that cannabis THC is in. The Endocannabinoid system is not found in all animals, it is mainly found in mammals most notable humans and canines. Not very well known but this is main feel good neurotransmitter. The reward neurotransmitter called dopamine is the chemical that causes you to feel good after you reach a set goal you have made. Most drugs make people happy by causing dopamine to remain in the synaptic cleft longer which is the space between where the neurons (brain cells in this case) touch other cells. A nuclear bomb by the name of Little Boy was dropped over Hiroshima, wiping out the city and killing thousands of innocent people without warning. Three days later another bomb dubbed the name Fatman was dropped over top of Nagasaki, with the same result. These bombs were dropped as a response to the attack on Pearl Harbor and wreaked havoc on both cities wiping out almost everything in its path. While this saved the lives of American soldiers, it killed countless of innocent Japanese citizens. With the help of this new technology, a war could be won or lost in the blink of an eye. By being the first to use these bombs, the United States set the bar for nuclear war to be justifiable. According to an article on History.com, in 1939 a group of American scientists started to get... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was understood that fission was capable of making a massive bomb, way more powerful than chemical energy. According to an article from...............Just one kilogram of plutoniumor uranium could be capable of producing the same explosion as 20,000 tons of TNT. Scientists used a very fast nucleus which would run into other nuclei and then produce more and more all the way up to about 80 times each giving off atomic energy. All of this would happen in one millionth of a second and produce a temperature that exceeds anything here on earth. It can reach up to about ten billion degrees. The first thing that happens when a bomb explodes is, there is an initial blast wave, then there is a electromagnetic pulse followed by a thermal wave. There is also the radiation damage and then local and global fallout. The initial blast wave will crush anything in its path with 750 mile per hour air speed. The electromagnetic wave would shut down and damage all electronics over a huge radius. The thermal wave will burn anyone exposed to it and create many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were distinct differences between these two projects, which were the few of the many different key components on having a successful project. One of the few key components in having a successful Kickstarter, is the story behind the project. The name mineralocorticoid derives from early observations that these hormones were involved in the retention of sodium, a mineral. The primary endogenous mineralocorticoid is aldosterone, although a number of other endogenous hormones (including progesterone and deoxycorticosterone) have mineralocorticoid function.

Aldosterone acts on the kidneys to provide active reabsorption of sodium and an associated passive reabsorption of water, as well as the active secretion of potassium in the principal cells of the cortical collecting tubule and active secretion of protons via proton ATPases in the lumenal membrane of the intercalated cells of the collecting tubule. This in turn results in an increase of blood pressure and blood volume.

The majority of people did not understand or accept the idea, and consequentially did not have an appropriate way of talking about it. This recognition of sodomy as the characterizing practice of homosexuals indicates society s general disregard of women as homosexuals. It was apparently beyond the capability of most people during the eighteenth century even to consider that women could engage in any practice so unnatural and strange. Women, themselves, used this disbelief to their advantage, as in the case of a woman suspected of homosexual involvement, a suspected Mistress Clap, who was asked by a judge whether she had anything to say for herself. I hope it will be considered that I am a woman, she replied briefly, and therefore it cannot be thought that I would ever be concerned with such practices (Hyde 64). Besides denying any involvement by women in such practices, one of the other beliefs commonly held in England during the eighteenth century was that young boys learned, or were inadvertently taught to be homosexual. One widely accepted belief blamed the teaching of such deviance on their schooling. Male bonding in schools was crucial. Its result was radical female isolation and a complex pattern of male friendship codes instilled by years of male bonding (Rousseau 144). • 49. The Role of Eve in Paradise Lost The importance Milton attached to Eve s role in Paradise Lost and in the Garden of Eden is now recognised and acknowledged. (Green, 1996) Milton s treatment of Adam and Eve s relationship is complex. Sometimes referring to them in ways that indicate equality, (ibid) sometimes stressing their separateness as individuals (ibid) and other times they are complementary halves of a whole. (ibid) Taking on the view that many support; that Milton intended Eve to seem completely inferior to Adam, we can examine Eves role in the fall. Traditionally, readers and critics have responded to Eves actions with compassion and concern. (Revard, 1973) Two critics who particularly react this way are Dennis Burden and Fresdon Bowes. (ibid) A.J.A Waldock has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Adam had forced Eve to stay with him, he would have Eve s without free choice. This would have tarnished the liberty of Eden. (ibid) Adam has tried to make clear to Eve what her responsibilities are and what her place is in the garden. He has also warned her of the dangers in the garden. Eve knows also of the dangers of Satan by overhearing Raphael talking about them as in a shady nook I stood behind. (Levi, 1996) Eve is clearly at a disadvantage in encountering Satan in an intellectual debate; however Milton does lead the reader to question the role of intelligence in the poem. It wasn t the intellectually able angles the politically astute Beelzebub and the rhetorically expert Belial (Revard, 1973 p.76) who unmasked Satan in Book V. Many feel that Adam is guilty of negligence; however, others feel that he is merely an ineffective leader. (Revard, 1973) Stella p.Revard goes as far as saying that God is in fact to blame. Since refusing Eve the permission to leave would break the rules of free will then God is blameworthy for having left uncompelled the wills of human beings in the first place and having permitted Satan the opportunity to try them. (Revard, 1973 p.74) Is it only Milton s portrayal of Eve that is the cause of so much controversy? In examining two different examples of the portrayal of Eve, the reader can decide if it was Milton who created the controversy surrounding Eve, or if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Patient readmission rates and medication errors are serious issues at many healthcare organizations. Using quality improvement instruments such as a fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram: which can identify many possible causes for an effect or problem and sorts ideas into useful categories and a Pareto chart, which shows on a bar graph which factors are more significant can help pinpoint the root causes of chronic problems that seem to arise from a multitude of factors (Cause analysis tools, 2013, ASQ). The standard benchmark used by the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) is the 30 day readmission rate. Rates at the 80th percentile or lower are considered optimal by CMS В¦A hospital s readmission rate is calculated by dividing the total number of patients readmitted within seven days of discharge by the total number of hospital discharges. (Readmission rates, 2013, Mayo Clinic). Keeping readmission rates low is essential for the hospital to demonstrate a commitment to providing quality care at low cost and a high readmission rate also can result in reduced Medicare reimbursements as well as reflect negatively upon the hospital s PR when such reports are released (Can hospital ... My Journey In The Philippines I have always been interested in my heritage, thus I do my best to indulge myself in the culture of the Philippines here in The United States to the best of my ability.
