Zander Winston, Cameron University, SR, Dallas, Texas, JJ Pearce HS
Winston fired off a 69 in the final 18 holes to surge from fifth place to win the Midwestern State Invitational
by one shot with a 218 (77-72-69). The senior from Dallas, Texas, passed his teammate Daniel Nielsen who
finished in second with both golfers having a tournament high 11 birdies. Winston’s low round kept the Aggies
in the hunt CU placing in second place overall out of 18 teams entered.
WOMEN’S
Isabel Jimenez-Perea, Tarleton State University, SR, Cobena, Spain, Ortega y Gasset School
Jimenez-Perea took home the title for the first time this season at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate with a score
of 142 (-2). Jimenez-Perea shot a 2-under-par 70 in the first round and even par 72 in the final round to lead
Tarleton to its second tournament win of the fall with a season-best 580 (+4). The senior from Cobena, Spain
led all golfers with nine birdies for the tournament and now has three top 10 finishes in the four tournaments
played.

Marty Sanchez, West Texas A&M University, paced the Buffs to an eighth-place finish at the Midwestern
State Invitational this week. He fired rounds of 73, 77 and 74 at the Wichita Falls Country Club for a 224 score
tying for eighth to lead the team.

TexAnn Golf won its second tournament of the fall after they carded a season-best 580 (+4) at the Oklahoma
Intercollegiate that was played at the Fort Sill Golf Course. Tarleton shot a 268 (-4) in the first round that led to
them finishing the tournament 15 strokes ahead of second place Midwestern State. The TexAnns held the top
three spots on the individual leaderboard with Isabel Jimenez-Perea taking home the title for the first time this
season with a score of 142 (-2). This was the final tournament of the fall season for the TexAnns. In the four
tournaments, Tarleton won two titles and finished fourth and fifth in the other two.

The Buffs finished eighth at the Midwestern State Invitational this week with a 54-hole team score of 918. WT
was led by senior Marty Sanchez who tied for eighth with a 224 score on rounds of 73, 77 and 74. The Buffs
struggled in the opening round firing a 310, but responded with a 296 in the second round which tied for the
second-lowest score of the round of the 16 teams. WT couldn’t quite keep the momentum going Tuesday firing
a 312 after the team sat fifth heading into the final round. Now the Buffs head to Puerto Rico for the Illinois-
Springfield Island Getaway at Rio Del Mar Golf Club in Rio Grand, Puerto Rico, Oct. 26-27, to conclude the fall
season.
