In Odoo 15, lots and serial numbers have similarities in their functional system but are different in their behavior. They are both managed within the Inventory, Purchases, and Sales app.Lots correspond to a certain number of products you received and store altogether in one single pack. Serial numbers are identification numbers given to one product, in particular, to allow tracking the history of the item from reception to delivery and after-sales.

2. INTRODUCTION
❖ In Odoo 15, lots and serial numbers have similarities in their functional system but are
different in their behavior. They are both managed within the Inventory, Purchases and
Sales app.
❖ Lots correspond to a certain number of products you received and store altogether in one
single pack.
❖ Serial numbers are identification numbers given to one product, in particular, to allow
tracking the history of the item from reception to delivery and after-sales.

3. ❖ Goto your Inventory module > Configuration > Settings.

4. ❖ First, you need to activate the tracking. To do so, go to Inventory ‣ Configuration ‣ Settings
and tick Lots & Serial Numbers. Then, click on save.

5. ❖ After enabling this field, you will get the Lots & Serial Numbers option under Inventory tab of
product page. Select By lots and save. Click on that smart button. Clicking on it, we get this
page where we can create a lot/serial number for the product.

6. ❖ Now let’s create new lot number for this product by clicking CREATE button.

7. ❖ Provide Lot number and product SAVE the form.

8. ❖ From products > Lot/Serial number select your created lot number click on that.

9. ❖ We will get newly created lot number for the product.

10. ❖ Goto purchase module and create new purchase order by CREATE button.

11. ❖ Add the vendor and product with quantity. CONFIRM your order .

12. ❖ RECEIVE YOUR products, Before validating make sure the lot number is entered or not.

13. ❖ Enter the lot number for the products and Done quantity. CONFIRM.

14. ❖ Click on Traceability button for traceability report

15. ❖ We can see the report with lot number for bunch of 10 unit.

16. ❖ From lot/serial number form we will get the purchase details, location, traceability and
quantity purchased.

17. ❖ Goto Sales module and create a order by CREATE button.

18. ❖ Add your product and quantity CONFIRM

19. ❖ We will get lot details with reserved quantity after confirmation validate the picking.

20. ❖ Coming back to the lot/serial form we will get sales details with updated quantity after the sale.

21. ❖ Coming back to the product page set tracking as By unique Serial Number > SAVE

22. ❖ Enter Serial Number > SAVE.

23. ❖ Goto purchase module and create new purchase order by CREATE button.

24. ❖ Add the vendor and product with quantity. CONFIRM your order .

25. ❖ Enter the serial numbers for each quantity and Done quantity. CONFIRM.

26. ❖ VALIDATE the delivery.

27. ❖ Goto Sales module and create a order by CREATE button.

28. ❖ Add your product and quantity CONFIRM.

29. ❖ Add your product done quantity and serial number > CONFIRM

30. ❖ VALIDATE the picking

31. ❖ And you will get traceability report like below.

32. ❖ We will get created serial numbers for the product from inventory > products > Lot/Serial
Numbers.
