• Each employer is required to have a written
lockout/tagout program in place with training for
all employees under OSHA 29 CFR, Part
1910.147.
• Every two minutes there is a fatality resulting
from employees and/or employers not complying
with the lockout/tagout standard.

disabling injuries due to failure to lockout and
tagout equipment.

device does not have to be utilized as
long as the employee maintains control
over the cord. However, if the employee
has to leave for any reason, a lockout
device must be utilized.
