Bravery In Beowulf
1. Introduction Beowulf, a fearsome warrior, travels to the Danes homeland in order to protect them
from the evils of Grendel and his mother to the frightening dragon. He is a symbolic form to the Anglo
Saxon s due to his heroics and strength to push through when nobody else will. The epic poem
Beowulf displays Anglo Saxon culture by the belief of fate in a society where both glory and loyalty
heavily influence the peoples values and nature. Body Paragraph 1 Beowulf portrays the Anglo Saxon
ideal of bravery/glory throughout the adventure he is on. Beowulf and Grendel struggle until Grendel
finally manages to wrench himself away, leaving his arm in Beowulf s grasp. The monster staggers
back to his cave to die. The severed arm is hung in Heorot as a trophy for all to see. ... Show more

Painful, too, is the desertion of his retainers except for his young kinsman Wiglaf. Both Beowulf and
Wiglaf kill the dragon but Beowulf is mortally wounded. He asks Wiglaf to bring out the treasure so
that he might see it before he dies. By fighting along side with Wiglaf, Beowulf shows his devotion to
his men and that he will never leave their side until death. In return of the loyalty he shows his men,
he is given a proper funeral and is remembered by them till the end of their lives. I shipped a treasure
to the Wulfings and Ecgtheow acknowledged me with oaths of allegiance. Before all the adventure,
Beowulf explains how he fought other creatures throughout the world so that he could pay off his
father s debt. Beowulf s loyalty to his own family shows his courtesy to help those that helped him
when he was young. Also, Beowulf was able to form treaties with other countries, proving his loyalty
by slaying monsters from afar. Beowulfs ideal of loyalty best lies both within himself and his fellow
comrades, he doesn t want to abandon them no matter what the cost is.

Essay about The Corporate Information Management System...
L.L.Bean is the industry leader in providing to its customers, outdoor equipment and apparel. With
growing competition and a stagnant economy, the company must continually work to maintain sales,
profits, and customer loyalty. L.L.Bean does this by focusing on the competitive forces prevailing
throughout the business environment. These forces include new market entreats, the power of the
buyer and the supplier, the growing threat of substitute products, and their competition.
L.L.Bean s Competitive Forces
L.L.Bean works hard to reduce the threat of new entrants to the marketplace by erecting barriers to

advantage, along with its incomparable customer service, increased productivity, enhanced flexibility,
and improved quality of work life for Bean employees, and incorporating cutting edge technology for

the competitive forces from Porter s five forces model by using Porter s four competitive strategies,
basically focusing on differentiation, utilizing better product/service industry wide (L.L.Bean et al,

take the form of easy consumer access to several retail outlets to purchase the same or similar products

Spencer Rifle Company Research Paper
By 1860 American inventors like Samuel Colt, Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson, Oliver Winchester,
Benjamin Henry, and Christopher Spencer were on the brink of mass producing magazine fed, lever
action, repeating rifles that fired self contained metallic cartridges. Once the Civil War began, two
companies dominated the competition for lucrative government contracts the New Haven Arms
Company (Henry rifle) and the Spencer Repeating Rifle Company (Spencer rifle). Officers in the
Spencer Repeating Rifle Company were politically connected and quickly secured contracts with both
the Navy and War departments by late 1861. Two years later the New Haven Arms Company finally
won its first government contract. Consequently, the Spencer rifle and carbine

NETWORK ANALYSIS OF DISNEY JUNIOR Children ages 2 5 spend 32 hours a week in front of a
TV watching television (Boyse, 2010). Young children are spending so much time in front of the
television and should have a network dedicated exactly to their age group that is fun, engaging,

analysis will be: determining the target audience, discussing promotions, focusing in on three very
popular shows, and looking at other shows on the network that also appeal to our archetypal viewer.

Comparing Darwin s Theory Of Sexual Selection And Natural...
Darwin s theory of evolution proposed a mechanism for decent with modification. His studies resulted
in the proposal of two forms of selection, including sexual selection and natural selection. (3) The
concept of sexual selection was developed by Darwin to account for many adaptations that appear
incompatible with natural selection (3). Natural selection is a major component of evolution however
it is still not fully understood. (2)
Male guppies display an intricate colour pattern polymorphism that varies with risk of predation
which makes them a good choice for studying natural selection. It is interesting to note that the bright

Differences Between King Camarus And Merlin
I wonder what the scene between the King, Camarus, and Merlin is insinuating. I am very confused as
to why the King would call his grandson to his quarters only to banish him as soon as he saw his face.
I have been pondering the reason behind this and have come up with a few possibilities.
The first possibility I have come up with is that he could have wanted to introduce the foreign King to
Merlin. Rumors were spreading that Niniane was betrothed to the foreign king, so it is very possible
that he wanted to see what she would be bringing into the marriage.
The King may have simply wanted to know what Merlin was up to, seeing as he sits on the wall
everyday watching visitors arrive. The foreign King could ve reported seeing the boy on the wall,

Egoism In Anthem By Ayn Rand
Egoist; A self centered or selfish person. This term is mistaken for being narcissistic and wrong. Self
motivation and individuality should never be seen as a bad thing. There is a difference between
bragging and being an egoist. Bragging is rubbing one s pride in another s face and Egoism is being
proud of oneself. Egoism is seen as self obsession in today s society, when the reality is it promotes
difference and self motivation.
The novel Anthem is all about a collectivist society. Equality 7 2521 breaks outside of the collectivist
barriers and starts to think and do things for himself. He discovers living without individuality is not
really living, it s controlling one s life. In this society, no one knows anything about egoism or does
anything for themselves. We are nothing. Mankind is all. By the grace of our brothers are we allowed
our lives. We exist through, by and for our brothers who are the State. Amen. (pg. 21) This quote is the
exact opposite of egoism, it states mankind lives for each other and not for themselves. Towards the

I owe nothing to my brothers, nor do I gather debts from them. I ask none to live for me, nor do I live

2521 had just learned the word I and realized that from this point on he could do whatever he wanted
with his life and do it for himself. Always doing things for others is not healthy. It is important to be
confident and proud. In a collectivist society, everyone is the same and no one thinks outside of the
box or creates new ideas. Differences are what sprout new ideas and make a nation grow and you can
not do that without individuality. Many things seem selfish even if they aren t intended to be and that s
normal. Egoists are not trying to hurt others or brag, they are just

Positive Impact On Electric Cars
My research question that I would like to further explore is what is holding back electric car sales?
Why have we not gone entirely electric, especially with all the benefits toward the environment? I
believe this question should be explored because whether it be electric cars or cars with an internal
combustion engine, cars are a vital form of transportation and in our everyday life. People use cars as
a form of transportation to get to work, to drive their kids to schools, to drive themselves to the
grocery store, to see loved ones and families. With all this driving, it is important to know the impact
it has on our environment. So far, internal combustion engines have shown negative harmful impacts
towards the environment in regards to carbon dioxide emissions. These carbon dioxide emissions have
shown a positive correlation with global warming which is an important ongoing issue today. It is
important to reduce our carbon footprint in order to preserve the planet for future generations.
Bringing more awareness as to why electric vehicles have a positive impact on our environment is
important because not many people are informed.
Through my research question, I hope to learn whether electric vehicles make a big enough difference
to help our environment. I also want to explore why we have not gone entirely electric and specific
reasons as to why people are afraid of change. People find switching to an electric vehicle to be a huge
lifestyle change. In Graham Rowe s

Homophobia In Edgar Allan Poe s Stories
Explicitly queer readings of Poe s Dupin stories, though few and far between in the vast realm of Poe
academia, are not altogether absent. With as much in mind, the overwhelming tone of existing
readings, such as those by Leland Person, depend heavily on existing homophobic formations of
nineteenth century sexuality. While homophobia undoubtedly shaped the construction of nineteenth
century homosocial relations between men, Person s singular emphasis on violent, homophobic
repressions of erotic identifications between men tends to unintentionally conflate homoerotic
literature with homophobia. If not wholly dependent on constructions of identity guided by
homophobia, queer interpretations of Poe s stories flirt with the assumption of anachronistic ... Show

This, according to Sedgwick, further associates the aforementioned characters with the bachelor
archetype as the substantiality of physical pleasure is explicitly linked to the state of bachelorhood (
The Beast in the Closet 312). Therefore, Poe s audience s first interaction with the narrator and Dupin
in The Purloined Letter firmly establishes the two characters as living within the realm of
bachelorhood, both characters enjoying the twofold luxury of meditation and a meerschaum among
curling eddies of smoke as they sit in Dupin s little back library (The Purloined Poe 6). Not only are
Dupin and the narrator able to indulge in such passive activities, but the imagery surrounding them is
also steeped in extravagance. Their consistent access to and enjoyment of books books, for Dupin,
being his sole luxuries only allowed by their social passivity and their homoerotic engagement with
one another (Poe 116). After all, Dupin would not have access to such texts had his previous
impoverishment not been ameliorated by the narrator s willingness to take him in. Nevertheless, as
previously demonstrated, Dupin and the narrator are no strangers to decadence. Their lackadaisical

Tangerine Archetype Analysis
Young children used to play with toys called Transformers, but little do people know that transformers
are actually shapeshifters. Shapeshifters are people that can change the way they look like or act
toward others. In Edward Bloor s novel Tangerine, Joey Costello proves to be the mythological
archetype of the shapeshifter in three ways. First, Joey Costello is the shapeshifter to Paul (the hero)
because he is bewilderingly changeable. When people are bewilderingly changeable they change how
they act towards others. For instance, during Joey s few days at Tangerine Middle, he was mad
because he was being picked on by Tino. Joey said, I can t believe I let you talk me into this and he
gestured around the room, I let you talk me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joey says, This is how you get by here right? You kiss up to these guys? You re scared of these guys
(154)? Joey says this because he does not see how anyone could stand these guys picking on and
calling them name. When Joey says, You kiss up to these guys? He is basically saying that Paul does
whatever Tino and the gang say. Here Joey makes us doubt if he is really Paul s friend. If you think
about it the real reason he says this is that he basically hates Tino and his gang. Likewise, since he s
mad, he starts saying really rude comments he might regret later. Similar to what he said earlier, he
snaps and yells at Paul again. In science class while working on their project, Joey snapped and took
his anger out on Paul after Tino jumped at him. Joey said, You re a gutless wonder, Fisher You re
afraid of girls. You re afraid of your own brother. Now you re afraid of these lowlifes. They treat you
like a dog, and you take it! Take it? You like it! You think they re your friends (154)! After Joey makes
Tino made at him, he snaps at Paul because he let Paul talk him into coming to Tangerine. When Joey
calls Paul a Gutless wonder he means that he does not stand up for himself when Tino or anyone is
picking on him. When Joey said, They treat you like a dog. He means that they kick and push him
around and that he does not do anything about it. When Joey Says, You like it! He means that

Analysis Of AMD And Intel
The CPU most determines how a PC performs, which is why finding the right computer processor is
essential for making a system upgrade or starting a new build. It is important to buy a desktop
processor that can handle the tasks you need your computer to perform. Equally as critical are budget
considerations; you want the best CPU performance for the dollar, and do not want to pay for
unneeded features. With hundreds of CPUs to choose from, options abound. Understanding how CPU
specifications and model numbers relate to performance will help you make a proper processor
comparison. Brands: AMD vs Intel When it comes to desktop CPUs, consumers have two choices:
AMD and Intel. In 2016, AMD is typically associated with budget processors, ... Show more content

In the old days of single core processing, frequency was really tied to performance the more hertz, the
faster your system. Today, as technology has moved to multi core processing, clock speed is less of a
performance indicator than other facets of a CPU. Where clock speed remains a factor is when
comparing CPUs that have otherwise similar specifications the same number of cores and amount of
cache memory, for instance. This is why CPU models of the same processor family are organized by
SKU in increments of operating frequency. You can filter CPUs by clock speed in the Desktop
Processor store. Multi Core CPUs Modern processors commonly have several individual CPUs called
cores built onto one die. Operating systems recognize each core as its own separate CPU and yield a
system performance boost when performing multiple tasks at the same time. The physics is the same
as having multiple CPUs in your system. Most if not all mainstream desktop processors on the market
are dual or quad core CPUs. Certain models of AMD desktop processors have six or eight cores.
Multiple cores help a computer work on several tasks at the same time, or run complex applications
like creative programs and analytical software. For basic web browsing and office work, a dual core
suffices most of the time. For running specialized software, a quad core is likely the way to go. You

Ducati Turnaround
The turnaround success of Ducati was the direct result of Federico Minoli s implementation of a

revamped by Minoli s specific vision for the company that were precisely presented in an extremely
realistic manner. These goals for the company included double digit growth for Ducati and equaling
Harley Davidson s profit level.
After reading the success of this turnaround, one point that I found very interesting and contributed to
the company s success is Minoli s staffing method for Ducati. Not only did he strive to acquire

I think by sticking to one specialty, Ducati has more power over its customers than all other competing
companies. This does not however eliminate rivalries between companies altogether. Even though
Ducati may have the advantage of differentiation, this particular industry is continuing to grow and
with that comes more competition for customers.
I think that one tradeoff that Ducati has to face is staying focused on the sport bike segment rather
than branching off into other segments of the market. Even though branching into other product lines
may be beneficial in the short term aspect, I think that by sticking to what they have already
successfully built and expanding their current market segment will eventually lead to higher long term
profitability. They could possibly achieve this by expanding distribution. Ducati can offer its product
and all of the benefits that come with purchasing one in more locations. The only thing Ducati should
be careful of is that they do not over expand. They want to make their product more available for new
customers but not in a way that makes the lifestyle of owning a Ducati as normal as owning maybe a
Harley Davidson. They need to make sure they still have the advantage of having that differentiation
factor that sets them apart from the competition.
Overall, Minoli s implementation of the differentiation strategy was critical to the turnaround of

Neoinoid Research Paper
Neonicotinoids are a form of pesticides/insecticides that are used for the protection of various types of
plants and crop and farm land. Neonicotinoid are a low risk pesticide to its environment and the
people. The pesticides/insecticides primarily only affects what they are meant for which is pest
control. Due to the low risk of Neonicotinoid, it became an important tool in the scientific community
that work with and study plants and crops.
In the 90s scientists worked and created a new type of insecticide (Shetlar, 2008, p.78). At first they
had the names chloro and thianicotinyls but, eventually those names were changed. When the new
improved products were placed on the market for use, the results had varied and issues had arisen. The
new pesticides/insecticides did not have a great affect in killing the insects and were causing different

The makers (Shell and Bayer) of these pesticides discovered that these pesticides were working much

neonicotinoids of this type to be sold was called Imidacloprid (Shetlar, 2008, P.78). Imadacloprid is

Hawaii’s Renewable Energy Future Essay example
By 2020, Hawaii is aiming to generate 20 percent of its energy from non fossil fuels (Brown et al.
2008, 11). According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Arent et al. 2009, 1 2), petroleum
accounts for 90% of Hawaii s energy consumption and 75% of their electricity. Since Hawaii has no
pipelines or oil fields, they are forced to import petroleum to accommodate their energy needs (Arent
et al. 2009, 1). Hawaii is disconnected from the rest of the United States, which means that Hawaii has
to take care of its own energy needs (Croucher 2010, 79).How can alternative energy sources reduce

Hawaii has the bioavailability to support biofuels as a renewable resource.
In addition to fuel crops, Hawaii also has abundant resources for biomass heating. During their
research Turn et al. (2002, 4) found that the biomass resources for Hawaii include: swine, dairy, and
poultry manure, sugarcane bagasse and trash, pineapple processing waste, macadamia nut shells,
municipal solid wastes, food waste from commercial food preparation facilities, sewage sludge, and
fat, oil and grease wastes from food preparation activities. One of the main advantages is that biomass
energy can use municipal solid waste. Hawaii also produces about 10 pounds of trash per person
coming to about 1.8 million tons of trash per year (Yap 2008). Hawaii has a power plant that can use
over 2,000 tons of garbage a day to generate electricity (Covanta Energy 2011). Hawaii has decided to
start exporting its garbage to give it enough time to expand the power plant s capacity (Yap 2008).
Smaller scale biomass fueled power generation can help get rid of agricultural and municipal refuse,
while alleviating the strain on the electricity grid and providing a cheap locally based source of
electricity (Turn, Keffer, and Staackmann 2002, 17). If Hawaii develops biomass as a renewable
resource, it can reduce the need to import petroleum and export garbage.
Biomass is not the only renewable alternative option for Hawaii, ethanol can also be produced in
Hawaii. According Keffer et al.(2009, 253), using

Comparison Of Erikson And Kohlberg s Theory
Erik Erikson and Lawrence Kohlberg are famous theorist who have contributed a lot to the nursing
profession. Erikson s theory is about psychosocial development whereas Kohlberg s theory is about
moral development. Erikson has eight stages, that he believed were accomplished at different periods
of life, in his theory of psychosocial development starting with; trust versus mistrust during infancy;
autonomy versus shame or doubt experienced at a toddler age; initiative versus inferiority during
preschool and school aged period; identity versus identity confusion during adolescence; intimacy
versus isolation experienced as a young adult; generativity versus stagnation experienced as a middle
aged adult; and lastly integrity versus despair ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another stage of Erikson s theory that is similar to stages of Kohlberg s theory is identity versus
identity confusion where the adolescent learns the essence of what makes them who they are from
bringing together everything they have learnt and what kind of person they will be. Kohlberg s stages
that are similar is the conventional stage of good boy/ nice girl morality where the school aged child
follows rules to be accepted by those around them, and the postconventional stage of social contract
orientation where the adolescent will follow society customs for the benefit of others. These three
stages are closely associated as someone s identity is usually shaped by the customs of society. People
will do what is expected of them to be accepted which in turn contributes to their identity. The last
similarity between the two theories is Erikson s stage of generativity versus stagnation where the
middle aged adult broadens their concern from themselves to the community and world, and Kohlberg
s postconventional stage of universal ethical principles where the adult s actions are determined by

The Negative Effects Of Technology On Our Generation Of...

What technology is doing to our generation of children
As we all know, technology is changing, evolving and improving every day. Schools are incorporating
technology into learning more and more everyday. Every month there is a new phone, tablet,
television, laptop and even thousands of websites. While these devices come into handy and can be
very helpful, they almost are taking over the world. Almost everyone has a cellular device; many
being androids or iphones. Which surprisingly, the majority of these users are children. The apps they
have on their phones being: Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and more. Younger
children have some of those and many games. There are a few questions that come with this use of
technology and children: 1.) How much is enough? 2.) What s acceptable? 3.) What are the effects?
The problem with technology and children is there are some benefits and some disadvantages. They
both weigh out depending on the child and how they use the technology. Children s learning and
habits are very critical to their development and learning skills. Especially at young ages like birth to 6
years old, new pathways in their brain are being produced every day and their frontal lobes are active
and starting to develop , working memory, attachments, emotions, and perception. And the prefrontal
cortex is the last to develop, which explains why children and teenagers have a hard time with
decision making and controlling their impulses. So using technology while children s brains are in
these stages can be beneficial if used the right way, but also have a negative effect if not used the right
way and with limits.
As said before many schools are using technology in their education plans. Most test are taken online,
studying for these test are online and are either homework or classwork assignments for children.
Many children are intrigued and interested by technology and it is an easy way to keep children
interested with all the animations and rewarding things. My sister is in the 2nd grade and they use a
website called Iready and this prepares them for those standardized test and for homework. She
actually enjoys it. Every time they

Breastfeeding Duration Paper
Breastfeeding Duration Related to Education and Support from the Maternity Nurse The standard for
exclusive breastfeeding after birth is six months to one year (Briere, Cong, Cusson, McGrath, 2014),
but the percentage of mothers breastfeeding for the full duration is low. Specifically, the percent of
newborns receiving any breast milk for six months is 43% and only 23% receive it for the full year
(Beaman, Bernaix, Schmidt, Harris, Miller, 2010). There are many factors responsible for these
statistics and multiple research studies have and are being conducted to fully understand which factors
have the biggest impact. Throughout these studies, education and support from the nurse during
pregnancy and after birth influence how mothers perceive breastfeeding, and a positive maternal
perception will lead to longer exclusive breastfeeding. In order to achieve this, nurses need to facilitate
a comfortable and knowledgable foundation starting during pregnancy and extending after discharge.

Some mothers may desire to breastfeed, but are concerned with how their significant other or family
may feel about it. It is important to involve the mother s partner or support person so that there is
understanding and acceptance once the family returns home. Nurses can also provide support. For
mothers who do not feel as though they are supported at home, lack support all together, or just feel
comfortable having a professional to talk to, in home visits or telephone sessions with a maternity
nurse can be very beneficial. If mothers do not have a support system, they can be faced with
challenges that could lead to discontinuation of breastfeeding. One study showed that mothers with no
support system had a median of only 17 days lactation, where as mothers with a large support system
had a median of 270 days (Briere et al.,

Key Features Of Adaptive Institutions
2.2.3 Key Features of Adaptive Institutions
As explained above, institutional barriers can also serve as enablers of adaptation but to understand
what key features constitute adaptive institutions, the theoretical framework by Gupta et al (2008) will
be looked at since the capacity of institutions to adapt to climate change is very crucial to this study. In
Gupta et al (2008) discussion of theoretical framework, they identified three integral qualities (variety,
learning capacity and ability to adapt) of adaptive capacity and three main contextual variables
(leadership, resources and fair governance) as qualities of institutions that can adapt to climate change.

2.2.3.2 Resources
Resource forms a major part of implementing climate change adaptation strategies. From the
construction of sea defense walls to the amendment of city regulation plans to incorporate adaptation
strategies, resource must be made available in order to ensure successful completion of projects.
Institutional rules and norms should call for the generation of resources in order that social actors
implementing these rules are able to do so (Gupta et al, 2008). The absence of resources such as
finances, technical knowledge and expertise, human capital and authority may pose of problem for
institutions to adapt to climate change as well as aid communities to also adapt (Termeer, Biesbroek,
van den Brink Ma 2009). 2.2.3.3 Fair Governance
The sub criteria developed to evaluate the fairness of institutions include; legitimate policy processes,
participatory public policy processes, protection of basic rights and equity, accountability and
responsiveness and transparency. Fair governance determines the room given to social actors to
participate creatively in the problem solving process (Gupta et al, 2008). Termeer, Biesbroek, van den
Brink Ma, (2009) also stated that adaptive institutions emerge from and promote systems of fair
governance that ensure justice,

Output hardware is components of or devices linked to a computer, which allow the computer to
transfer information to another computer system or the user of a computer system (Kroenke pg74).
This output hardware sends information in the form of images, sound, or various other tangible
imagery usually, to some form of input hardware on another system. It is not designed to receive data
only to send. The most familiar of these devices is the visual display or computer monitor. These
monitors are usually synonymous with a computer and every system is equipped with or able to
connect to a Visual Display Unit. Projectors, audio systems, printers, and faxes are all examples of
output hardware. Microsoft Corporation in their endeavors to enhance everyone s life with the aid of
computing software has developed output hardware for the blind or visually challenged. Windows also
offers a function such as video narrator, that provides audio descriptions of videos
(http://Windows.Microsoft.com). In addition to these components windows is compatible with
numerous other programs and hardware components that are designed to enhance the lives of those
who are blind or visually impaired. More recently Microsoft has also included Braille output devises

Second Wave Feminism In The 1980 s
Our visual narrative on women of the 1980 s focused on fitness and women s increased interest in
exercise and the sexual female body. Using images from the popular women s magazine Cosmopolitan
in 1985, the visual narrative attempts to demonstrate the various aspects of the 1980 s fitness craze
and emphasis on the strong, healthy, sexual female body, or the better body, as often noted by many
Cosmopolitan articles. Seeking to provide context for the fitness craze and images shown throughout
women s magazines of the 1980 s, this narrative references the second wave feminist movement of the
1960 s and 1970 s in the United States for an explanation. Summarizing second wave feminism in its
early years, author J. Zeitz describes the movement: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Statements like better yourself and you ll soon learn to love your mirror presented next to strong,
smiling women implies a healthy, energetic, and attractive life as consequential to having a better
body and exercising (Cosmopolitan). This supports the cultural ideas that arose in the 1980 s due to
the women s movement in the 1960 s and 1970 s, which include notions like it is no longer considered
socially shocking or selfish for girls and women to work for their own independence and satisfaction
rather than for that of their male partners; or for females to kick ass just as much as males (Bowden).
These new thoughts on women are significant because prior to the movement, it was a widely held
belief that men naturally possess a stronger sex drive than women (or women s sexuality is more
repressed than men s), making coercive sexual activity normal ; and sexuality is focused around
penetration and male pleasure (anything else is foreplay ) (Bowden). This belief was supported in part
due to nineteenth century doctor William Acton s sexual advice book Functions and Disorders of the
Reproductive Organs, which summed up the medical literature on women s sexuality by saying that
the majority of women (happily for them) are not very much troubled with sexual feelings of any kind.

Walt Whitman, An Enemy Or A Model For Ezra Pound

Walt Whitman , an enemy or a model for Ezra Pound?
In this essay , I want to demonstrate if Walt Whitman is seen as an enemy or as a model by Ezra
Pound. Even if the poem is ambiguous at first, during its we see that Walt Whitman is seen as a model,
as a spiritual father endowed with artistic creed which will be taken by his child.
Poem can be divided into 2 parts, the first part corresponds to childhood and refusal to accept the style
of Whitman (line 1 2) and the second part corresponds to maturity , where Pound accepts his style (
the wood) that he carves to become better, more understandable by his era. (line 3 9)
Pound saw Walt Whitman gradually , he passed from considered him an enemy, a bad person ( i have
detested you long enough ) , to a stubborn father ( pig headed father) , a spiritual one who wants what
it is good for his child ,a genius, to a fatherland and also a forebear whose creation Pound will
continue. But according to ,,The Cambridge Companion to Walt Whitman : Whitman delineates a
composite figure: a father fashioned as much to resist as to obey, an older brother sharing secrets, a
lover making cryptic signs by which all comrades of manly love might recognize and greet each other,
a priestly poet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Yes, Las Vegas has a monorail, and if you have ever visited Disneyland, then you are familiar with

not even aware that it exists.
The first thing you need to know about the monorail is that is should not be confused with the rams
that operate on the west side of the strip. If you have ever visited Disneyland, then you are familiar
with what they are. The Las Vegas monorail moves along the backside of several hotels. A portion of it

There are seven stations or stops on the monorail system. The monorails operate on two tracks moving
in opposite directions, and the monorail will automatically stop at each of the seven stations traveling
in either direction. The monorail system moves north to south and vice versa, and it stretches from the
MGM hotel to the SLS hotel (This used to be the Sahara). For whatever reason, when this monorail
system was designed, they placed it far from the main areas of the Strip. The result is that there can be
a lot of walking get to and from a monorail station, depending upon your destination.

The most southern stop is the MGM hotel. The monorail station is located next the the parking garage,
and I think it is one of the shortest walks, but this isn t saying much. From the hotel lobby area you
have to walk downstairs to the Underground. This is a shopping area that leads to the parking garage.
At the end of the Underground shopping mall you turn left. This is the entrance way to the monorail
station at the MGM hotel. This is the place I have usually bought my ticket, there seems to be a lot of
people in the Underground shopping area, even thought most of them are not getting on the monorail.
Some of the other stations seem desolate to

The Importance Of Emotions In William Shakespeare s The...
Discovery The process of finding information, feelings, places or objects that have been lost,
forgotten, concealed or hidden away intentionally or unintentionally. Discoveries that are evoked by
curiosity and necessity have the power to alter and ultimately transform individuals. They have the
power to enable speculation towards future possibilities, transform the perceptions of others and alter
a person s decision to change their values. These ideas related to discoveries are examined in William
Shakespeare s, The Tempest and Robert Zemeckis s film, Allied.
The discovery of intense emotions has the power to create urgency for individuals, which result in
sudden and sometimes irrational decisions.
In William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, Shakespeare has perceptively used the discovery of love for
the first time, as the key concept when exploring Miranda s sudden and unexpected discovery of her
emotions towards Ferdinand, which in turn, transform her perspectives of herself and others around
her. Initially, Miranda was a naïve, innocent young girl, who had no experience with loving or sexual
emotions, nor had she ever encountered any men in her life, other than her father: nor have I seen
more that I may call men then you . However, through her curious discovery of Ferdinand, Miranda s
intense emotions take over, and create a sudden desire to be Ferdinand s wife. I am your wife... if you
will marry me . The use of high modality language reflects Miranda s intense emotions

Judaism, Religion, And Remarkable History
Judaism is one of the oldest religions in the world. It is a faith that is deeply rooted in tradition,
culture, and remarkable history. The Jewish religion is most commonly referred to as a type of ethical
monotheism, as it assumes the existence of a Creator God whose benevolence and goodness are
reflected in His love of humanity and who has imparted to the Jews ethical principles by which they
(and the rest of the human race) are expected to live by. (367) .
Judaism stems from the promise made to Abraham by God that he would make him and his family the
sacred people and bestow upon them a holy land. This is known as the covenant. In order for God to

Moses is in fact responsible for bringing God s laws to the Israelite people which essentially is the
foundation on which the Jewish faith is laid upon. The ten commandments are: acknowledge one God
only, worship no other, never swear falsely in his name, observe the Sabbath rest, Honor one s parents,
never commit murder, never commit adultery, never commit theft, never give false testimony, and
never desire anything that belongs to another. These laws help make up what is known as the Torah,
the first five books of the Hebrew bible. Most of what we know about ancient Israel, as well as the
beliefs and practices of the ancient Israelites, is derived from Jewish Scriptures... (343). Judaism as a
whole does employ the belief of an afterlife and the idea that the soul lives on after they physical body
ceases to exist. There are several branches of Judaism practiced today; Orthodox, Conservative,
Reform, and Reconstructionist. Orthodox Judaism strictly follows the Torah and leaves no room for
interpretation. In large response to the Jewish people being exiled from their homeland and being
dispersed throughout the word, different forms of Judaism resulted.
Conservative Judaism offered a more moderate departure from traditional (or what is now called
Orthodox ) beliefs and practices. (360). Conservative Judaism recognized the change in Jewish culture
and made allowances to a degree to keep up with the

The Number One Song in America on My Birthday
I was born on July 2, 1995. On that day, the number one song on Billboards Hot 100 was Waterfalls .
It was performed by American recording group TLC and written by Lisa Lopes and Organized Noize.
This song was released on May 29, 1995 in the United States followed by a release on August 5, 1995

The lyrics of Waterfalls were socially conscious and they were basically about issues of the illegal
drug trade, promiscuity and HIV/AIDS. The first portion is about a mother who tries to help his son

Low Status And Expectations Of Women In The Erl-King, By...
The low status and expectations given to women through the dawn of time, allowed them to grow out

possessions whose only use is for farming and housekeeping. Destined to being seen as possession to
men, women have struggled to become independent and live their own lives since long ago. In The Erl
king, by Angela Carter, the protagonist is the perfect example of a woman who escaped from her
destiny of being enslaved by the man she once loved.

Why Western Governors University Essay
Why WGU?
Choosing what college to attend can be a daunting process at any time. Selecting a school as an adult
student can be even more difficult. Beyond the normal considerations of cost, program types,
traditional school or online, and location, there are additional factors to consider as an adult student.
These may include work schedule conflicts, family life, distance to travel, and credit earned for life
experience. The nineteen governors who founded Western Governors University took these things into
consideration when developing the school and its programs. They developed a school that offers a
truly exceptional level of quality in education at a price that is around half of that charged by other
schools. So if low cost, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This occurs because the education received is competency based, rather than credit based. If a student
has prior experience and/or knowledge of a particular subject, or is able to work quickly and learn fast,
he or she can demonstrate that competence very quickly and move on to another subject. ( About
WGU: How We re Different, 2010) The student is also billed per semester, not per credit or course
taken. This allows the student to complete as many credits as he or she can adequately handle, all for
the same low price. This saves the student both time and money, both of which are precious in today s
economy. ( Tuition and Financial Aid, 2010) Students today are also looking for a school that is
convenient for them, both in location and in flexibility of scheduling. Western Governors University
offers convenience in both areas. Since it is an online school, the location couldn t be any more
appropriate. It is simply wherever the student has access to the internet and the time to study, whether
that is at home, on a break at work, or even on vacation. In addition, there are no set times for classes,
so a student can spend just a few minutes or long hours studying the necessary material whenever it is
suitable for him or her. What could be more convenient than working at one s own pace at a location
of one s own choosing? One might think that in exchange for lower tuition fees and no set class times,
one might have to give

The Resilience Of Nature By Sara Teasdale And Carl...
The Resilience of Nature The outcome of engaging in war brings about inevitable consequences and
atrocities that ultimately become part of humanities history. With the battles of war leaving such
destruction in its wake one would think that there would remain visible and noticeable scars upon the
landscape. However, nature and time have the ability to erase all the evidence and devastation that war
can leave behind. The many non human life forms that exist in nature are unaware and undeterred
from their purpose and routine within the environment. Even if humans destroy themselves to the
point of non existence nature will continue to flourish. Although Sara Teasdale and Carl Sandberg
have each chosen the topic of war within their poems and both have used nature to convey their
opinions about humanity; the mechanics used to write each poem are different. Each poet chooses the
theme of nature s generative abilities to portray man s disillusion about what war truly has a lasting
effect on. Each author s poem reads as a metaphorical opinion about war and the existence of humans
within the natural environment; as well as the physical history of war that is left behind. Sara Teasdale
and Carl Sandberg also both seem to agree that the damages and carnage of war have no permanency
on nature s ability to carry on in spite of human atrocities. Both poems also highlight nature s physical
capabilities to dispose of the bodies left behind and ignore what was torn apart as a result of

Bronislaw Malinowski Research Paper
There have been many scholars that have had different views on rituals and why people partake in
them. One of the most renowned English Functionalist had the idea of rituals being performed because
of a psychological reason. Bronislaw Malinowski proposed that humans participated in rituals
whenever they were in danger. He suggested that rituals were performed as a mean to help people deal
with anxiety. Bronislaw Malinowski was lead to believe that uneducated cultures did not understand
how to cope with everyday problems so they performed rituals instead. In the reading, Bronislaw
Malinowski uses The Trobriand Islanders as an example of his theory. The islanders would take long

He saw rituals as a way for people of a society to preserve their unity with one another. Emile
Durkheim s theory was that while people were partaking in rituals they would put aside their self
centered tendencies and become a part of their society. He believed that rituals would bring such a
powerful bond between the participants. The rituals needed to continue to be performed to keep the
bond alive. Emile Durkheim inspired A.R Radcliffe Brown who agreed with his theories. There are
three different categories that Anthropologist place people who perform rituals in. These categories
are, Category A which is Shamans; Category B which is Priest; and Category C which is Prophets.
The phrase shaman comes from the language of a Siberian group. The translation of it is one who is

Indians. Native American tribes are not the only cultures that have them. In South American shamans
are common. The most common place to find shamans are in

Similarities And Differences Between Jews And Romans
1. Rome was the western gale that had been growing in power in the centuries prior to Jesus birth.
Specifically, it grew dramatically after the republic fell and the Caesar led Empire took its place. The
emperors took on the title of son of god and the role of high priest. This god led empire looked the
Middle East, or, more specifically, to their grain, and decided to take the land and its people for itself.
Meanwhile the Jews, many of whom dwelt in this coveted land, believed that the story that Yahweh
had begun with Abraham was to moving forward. It was, to them, a story that was reaching its climax.
The Romans where in the midst of fabricating their own legacy and story of triumph, which resulted
in a clash of beliefs between the Jews and Romans. The Romans looked to their past and knew that
their history made they strong and worthy of admiration. The Jews looked to their future with hope
and confidence that the coming Messiah would bring them the honor and stability promised to their
ancestors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where the hurricane of divine love met the cold might of empire and the overheated aspirations
of Israel. (39) The benefits and failures of the first two aspects of the storm provide the perfect context
of the success of the third. As cruel and terrible as the Roman Empire could be, it did provide the
stability and infrastructure that was helpful in Jesus ministry and vital to the spread of the early
church. The emperor s claims of divinity also highlighted the difference between the ruler of Rome
and the Ruler of all. Additionally, that the history, legacy, and sense of promise that the Jews held so
close to their hearts put them in the position to care, for better or worse, about Jesus and the claims
that were made about

  • 9. Differences Between King Camarus And Merlin I wonder what the scene between the King, Camarus, and Merlin is insinuating. I am very confused as to why the King would call his grandson to his quarters only to banish him as soon as he saw his face. I have been pondering the reason behind this and have come up with a few possibilities. The first possibility I have come up with is that he could have wanted to introduce the foreign King to Merlin. Rumors were spreading that Niniane was betrothed to the foreign king, so it is very possible that he wanted to see what she would be bringing into the marriage. The King may have simply wanted to know what Merlin was up to, seeing as he sits on the wall everyday watching visitors arrive. The foreign King could ve reported seeing the boy on the wall, ... • 10. Egoism In Anthem By Ayn Rand Egoist; A self centered or selfish person. This term is mistaken for being narcissistic and wrong. Self motivation and individuality should never be seen as a bad thing. There is a difference between bragging and being an egoist. Bragging is rubbing one s pride in another s face and Egoism is being proud of oneself. Egoism is seen as self obsession in today s society, when the reality is it promotes difference and self motivation. The novel Anthem is all about a collectivist society. Equality 7 2521 breaks outside of the collectivist barriers and starts to think and do things for himself. He discovers living without individuality is not really living, it s controlling one s life. In this society, no one knows anything about egoism or does anything for themselves. We are nothing. Mankind is all. By the grace of our brothers are we allowed our lives. We exist through, by and for our brothers who are the State. Amen. (pg. 21) This quote is the exact opposite of egoism, it states mankind lives for each other and not for themselves. • 12. Positive Impact On Electric Cars My research question that I would like to further explore is what is holding back electric car sales? Why have we not gone entirely electric, especially with all the benefits toward the environment? I believe this question should be explored because whether it be electric cars or cars with an internal combustion engine, cars are a vital form of transportation and in our everyday life. People use cars as a form of transportation to get to work, to drive their kids to schools, to drive themselves to the grocery store, to see loved ones and families. With all this driving, it is important to know the impact it has on our environment. So far, internal combustion engines have shown negative harmful impacts towards the environment in regards to carbon dioxide emissions. These carbon dioxide emissions have shown a positive correlation with global warming which is an important ongoing issue today. It is important to reduce our carbon footprint in order to preserve the planet for future generations. Bringing more awareness as to why electric vehicles have a positive impact on our environment is important because not many people are informed. Through my research question, I hope to learn whether electric vehicles make a big enough difference to help our environment. I also want to explore why we have not gone entirely electric and specific reasons as to why people are afraid of change. People find switching to an electric vehicle to be a huge lifestyle change. With as much in mind, the overwhelming tone of existing readings, such as those by Leland Person, depend heavily on existing homophobic formations of nineteenth century sexuality. While homophobia undoubtedly shaped the construction of nineteenth century homosocial relations between men, Person s singular emphasis on violent, homophobic repressions of erotic identifications between men tends to unintentionally conflate homoerotic literature with homophobia. Therefore, Poe s audience s first interaction with the narrator and Dupin in The Purloined Letter firmly establishes the two characters as living within the realm of bachelorhood, both characters enjoying the twofold luxury of meditation and a meerschaum among curling eddies of smoke as they sit in Dupin s little back library (The Purloined Poe 6). Not only are Dupin and the narrator able to indulge in such passive activities, but the imagery surrounding them is also steeped in extravagance. Their consistent access to and enjoyment of books books, for Dupin, being his sole luxuries only allowed by their social passivity and their homoerotic engagement with one another (Poe 116). Shapeshifters are people that can change the way they look like or act toward others. In Edward Bloor s novel Tangerine, Joey Costello proves to be the mythological archetype of the shapeshifter in three ways. First, Joey Costello is the shapeshifter to Paul (the hero) because he is bewilderingly changeable. When people are bewilderingly changeable they change how they act towards others. If you think about it the real reason he says this is that he basically hates Tino and his gang. Likewise, since he s mad, he starts saying really rude comments he might regret later. Similar to what he said earlier, he snaps and yells at Paul again. In science class while working on their project, Joey snapped and took his anger out on Paul after Tino jumped at him. Even though branching into other product lines may be beneficial in the short term aspect, I think that by sticking to what they have already successfully built and expanding their current market segment will eventually lead to higher long term profitability. They could possibly achieve this by expanding distribution. Ducati can offer its product and all of the benefits that come with purchasing one in more locations. These three stages are closely associated as someone s identity is usually shaped by the customs of society. People will do what is expected of them to be accepted which in turn contributes to their identity. The last similarity between the two theories is Erikson s stage of generativity versus stagnation where the middle aged adult broadens their concern from themselves to the community and world, and Kohlberg s postconventional stage of universal ethical principles where the adult s actions are determined by their own ethical principles and standards of behaviour. Ashlyn Howard Enc 1101 Professor Janus 29 November 2017 What technology is doing to our generation of children As we all know, technology is changing, evolving and improving every day. Schools are incorporating technology into learning more and more everyday. Every month there is a new phone, tablet, television, laptop and even thousands of websites. While these devices come into handy and can be very helpful, they almost are taking over the world. Almost everyone has a cellular device; many being androids or iphones. Which surprisingly, the majority of these users are children. The apps they have on their phones being: Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and more. Younger children have some of those and many games. There are a few questions that come with this use of technology and children: 1.) How much is enough? 2.) What s acceptable? 3.) What are the effects? The problem with technology and children is there are some benefits and some disadvantages. They both weigh out depending on the child and how they use the technology. Children s learning and habits are very critical to their development and learning skills. Especially at young ages like birth to 6 years old, new pathways in their brain are being produced every day and their frontal lobes are active and starting to develop , working memory, attachments, emotions, and perception. And the prefrontal cortex is the last to develop, which explains why children and teenagers have a hard time with decision making and controlling their impulses. So using technology while children s brains are in these stages can be beneficial if used the right way, but also have a negative effect if not used the right way and with limits. As said before many schools are using technology in their education plans. Most test are taken online, studying for these test are online and are either homework or classwork assignments for children. Many children are intrigued and interested by technology and it is an easy way to keep children interested with all the animations and rewarding things. • 29. The Importance Of Emotions In William Shakespeare s The... Discovery The process of finding information, feelings, places or objects that have been lost, forgotten, concealed or hidden away intentionally or unintentionally. Discoveries that are evoked by curiosity and necessity have the power to alter and ultimately transform individuals. They have the power to enable speculation towards future possibilities, transform the perceptions of others and alter a person s decision to change their values. These ideas related to discoveries are examined in William Shakespeare s, The Tempest and Robert Zemeckis s film, Allied. The discovery of intense emotions has the power to create urgency for individuals, which result in sudden and sometimes irrational decisions. In William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, Shakespeare has perceptively used the discovery of love for the first time, as the key concept when exploring Miranda s sudden and unexpected discovery of her emotions towards Ferdinand, which in turn, transform her perspectives of herself and others around her. Initially, Miranda was a naïve, innocent young girl, who had no experience with loving or sexual emotions, nor had she ever encountered any men in her life, other than her father: nor have I seen more that I may call men then you . However, through her curious discovery of Ferdinand, Miranda s intense emotions take over, and create a sudden desire to be Ferdinand s wife. I am your wife... if you will marry me . The use of high modality language reflects Miranda s intense emotions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Low Status And Expectations Of Women In The Erl-King, By... The low status and expectations given to women through the dawn of time, allowed them to grow out of their cage and improve their social standing. For a very long time men have seen women as fragile possessions whose only use is for farming and housekeeping. Destined to being seen as possession to men, women have struggled to become independent and live their own lives since long ago. In The Erl king, by Angela Carter, the protagonist is the perfect example of a woman who escaped from her destiny of being enslaved by the man she once loved. • 33. Why Western Governors University Essay Why WGU? Choosing what college to attend can be a daunting process at any time. Selecting a school as an adult student can be even more difficult. Beyond the normal considerations of cost, program types, traditional school or online, and location, there are additional factors to consider as an adult student. These may include work schedule conflicts, family life, distance to travel, and credit earned for life experience. The nineteen governors who founded Western Governors University took these things into consideration when developing the school and its programs. They developed a school that offers a truly exceptional level of quality in education at a price that is around half of that charged by other schools. So if low cost, ... If a student has prior experience and/or knowledge of a particular subject, or is able to work quickly and learn fast, he or she can demonstrate that competence very quickly and move on to another subject. ( About WGU: How We re Different, 2010) The student is also billed per semester, not per credit or course taken. This allows the student to complete as many credits as he or she can adequately handle, all for the same low price. This saves the student both time and money, both of which are precious in today s economy. ( Tuition and Financial Aid, 2010) Students today are also looking for a school that is convenient for them, both in location and in flexibility of scheduling. Western Governors University offers convenience in both areas. Since it is an online school, the location couldn t be any more appropriate. It is simply wherever the student has access to the internet and the time to study, whether that is at home, on a break at work, or even on vacation. In addition, there are no set times for classes, so a student can spend just a few minutes or long hours studying the necessary material whenever it is suitable for him or her. What could be more convenient than working at one s own pace at a location of one s own choosing? One might think that in exchange for lower tuition fees and no set class times, one might have to give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Resilience Of Nature By Sara Teasdale And Carl... The Resilience of Nature The outcome of engaging in war brings about inevitable consequences and atrocities that ultimately become part of humanities history. With the battles of war leaving such destruction in its wake one would think that there would remain visible and noticeable scars upon the landscape. However, nature and time have the ability to erase all the evidence and devastation that war can leave behind. The many non human life forms that exist in nature are unaware and undeterred from their purpose and routine within the environment. Even if humans destroy themselves to the point of non existence nature will continue to flourish. Although Sara Teasdale and Carl Sandberg have each chosen the topic of war within their poems and both have used nature to convey their opinions about humanity; the mechanics used to write each poem are different. Each poet chooses the theme of nature s generative abilities to portray man s disillusion about what war truly has a lasting effect on. Each author s poem reads as a metaphorical opinion about war and the existence of humans within the natural environment; as well as the physical history of war that is left behind. Sara Teasdale and Carl Sandberg also both seem to agree that the damages and carnage of war have no permanency on nature s ability to carry on in spite of human atrocities. Both poems also highlight nature s physical capabilities to dispose of the bodies left behind and ignore what was torn apart as a result of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He saw rituals as a way for people of a society to preserve their unity with one another. Emile Durkheim s theory was that while people were partaking in rituals they would put aside their self centered tendencies and become a part of their society. He believed that rituals would bring such a powerful bond between the participants. The rituals needed to continue to be performed to keep the bond alive. Emile Durkheim inspired A.R Radcliffe Brown who agreed with his theories. There are three different categories that Anthropologist place people who perform rituals in. These categories are, Category A which is Shamans; Category B which is Priest; and Category C which is Prophets. The phrase shaman comes from the language of a Siberian group. Specifically, it grew dramatically after the republic fell and the Caesar led Empire took its place. The emperors took on the title of son of god and the role of high priest. This god led empire looked the Middle East, or, more specifically, to their grain, and decided to take the land and its people for itself. Meanwhile the Jews, many of whom dwelt in this coveted land, believed that the story that Yahweh had begun with Abraham was to moving forward. It was, to them, a story that was reaching its climax. The Romans where in the midst of fabricating their own legacy and story of triumph, which resulted in a clash of beliefs between the Jews and Romans.
