Two Women in Proverbs 9 Essay
Two Women in Proverbs 9 Proverbs has always been one of the most renowned and loved books of
the Bible. According to the prologue, it was written to teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and
prudence to the young (1.4), and to let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning
acquire skill (1.5). It is primarily addressed to young men, as the author makes frequent references to
my son throughout. The purpose of this book was to help prepare young men for leadership and life. A
proverb, which serves the purpose of drawing a comparison between two forms of behavior to teach
moral wisdom, explicitly fulfills its role in particularly chapter 9 of Proverbs. In light of this father to
son instruction, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reward of the assiduous will far exceed that of the indolent in the long run. Lady Wisdom and
Lady Folly not only own their own homes, but they are situated at the highest places in the town (9.3,
9.14). Because both women dwell at the promontories of their respective cities, they are able to look
out and gain a perspective that is much broader than those who are standing on level ground. They
have the advantage of being able to observe other people and what they are doing. By being able to
observe others every move, their neighbors are at their most vulnerable state without even being aware
of it themselves. Lady Folly uses her advantageous location to remember the weaknesses of others
that she catches and files them in her memory storage for later use. While Lady Folly uses young men
s weaknesses by using them against them solely for her own gain, Lady Wisdom selflessly uses her
high promontory for the benefit of others. She uses the information she learns, to teach others their
mistakes and to help them in any way she can. The speaker is portraying the importance of leadership
that instead of being consumed with their own selves, the young men must also be able to pinpoint
others strengths and weaknesses to help them, not to use against them. The next similarity that these
women share is that they both call out to people, inviting them over to their respective houses. Lady
Folly calls

Interpersonal Communication And The Workplace
Interpersonal communication in the workplace is developed positively or negatively on the individual
relationships we have combined with our human behaviors and human actions within each of those
relationships. There are many things that can affect interpersonal communications within the
workplace, from generational that create technological gaps, to diversity and tolerance it creates, and
finally the type of workplace, is it a team environment encouraging inclusiveness within the
organization or exclusive workplace wanting employees to just show up and perform a function. There
are generally two different types of interpersonal communication within every workplace, the peer to
peer and the supervisor to subordinate or employee. The most critical interpersonal communication to
increase productively, foster a positive attitude, create team building and heathy environment within
the workplace is the supervisor to employee interpersonal communications. For a supervisor to be
affective in his communication to his subordinates he must possess certain interpersonal skills. These
interpersonal skills are tools that a supervisor uses within an organizational environment to
communicate to his employees. These interpersonal skills are also how a supervisor interacts with the
people within the organization.
Many of the interpersonal skills that a person, especially a supervisor needs to have to be successful in
interpersonal communications within the workplace were covered within some

Imagery In Beowulf
The Old English epic poem of Beowulf, officially written down somewhere around the year 1066 by
the Beowulf poet, is one where you are persistently kept of the edge of your seat due to its superior
use of vivid phrases and imagery. In the Anglo Saxon period in which the story takes place bravery,
heroic deeds, and loyalty to one another is paramount. Beowulf, a tenacious scandinavian warrior, is
the savior of a neighboring kingdom due to his aptness to slay the treacherous monsters such as the
nefarious Grendel and his mother. A truly remarkable feat is how the words and actions of this poem
are put to life in the movie. Though remarkable, the cinema didn t exactly correlate with the poem. In
fact the integrity of the poem almost seems diminished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the feast, a Dane named Unferth, envious of his kinsmen s admiration of Beowulf, begins to taunt
the Geat. He claims that Beowulf once lost a swimming match against Breca and that Beowulf will

race reassures that indeed Beowulf is indeed mortal and capable of defeat comparatively than
displaying him as immortal. When Grendel arrives to slay Hrothgar s men, Beowulf battles with
Grendel and manages to amputate Grendel s arm and shoulder to which then Beowulf drapes his arm
from the rafters of the great mead hall. The victory, for the proof, hanging

How War Has Changed Society
War has been around for as long as mankind has existed. War has been around since the beginning for
two reasons; because people either wanted to have a better life or to protect their way of life. People
go to war to gain land, economic gain, government affiliations, and religion. Over the time that
mankind has been around, warfare has changed significantly.
There is not much known about prehistoric and warfare. What is known is that war did not happen
very often. Small hunting and gathering groups that weathered the last ice age had cause on occasion
to attack each other. Such attacks were probably for control of food sources, important raw materials
water, trade routes, or perhaps locations of presumed religious significance. Prehistoric hunters
equipped themselves with weapons to make their living. It was an easy step to turn those weapons on
neighbors. The earliest known burial site that was related to warfare was along the Nile in Nubia. The
skeletons have wounds on their bones that are consistent with warding off blows. There were also
pieces of what is thought to be small flakes of arrowheads buried along with the bodies. This is
significant because war is not a modern thing, it has been around since the beginning of our species.
There is a little bit more known about neolithic warfare. During this time there was increased
economic incentives for war. Competition and incentive for armed conflict between groups grew once
the agricultural revolution began. The food

Naturalism In Cythera
On looking closely at her sculpture it is seen that cupid s arrows are tied to her along with a garland of
flowers. These are clear connotations of love. Cupid can be seen sitting below the sculpture with his
quiver down almost as though nothing has to be done to bring love in that area. He is seen tugging the
skirt of the lady sitting near him, as though he is urging her to fall in love with the man on her right,
who seems to be trying too. On following the coupled figures down towards the boat, is a conspiracy
whether the boat bought the figures to Cythera or is taking them to the island of Cythera. On closely
observing the body language of the figures, it is noticed how they get closer and closer towards a state
of intimacy. As observed towards the boat a couple is seen where the women is holding the man s arm
of her own volition, she doesn t have to be coaxed anymore. The progression of the figures almost
looks like a form of dance. The second figured couple hold hands similar to the dance form in the 18th
century.

Essay on Mississippi s Freedom Summer
Rationale
Although I wasn t in Mississippi during the Freedom Summer , I had a solid understanding of how life
was during the Freedom Summer . This was years of racism and segregation towards the blacks in the
US during the Civil Rights Movement. My aspect type was racism, and I learned of its impact on life
through our analysis in the class of The Color Purple (1982) by Alice Walker, an epistolary novel
about the lives of black people in rural dominated white racist Georgia during the 1920 s 50 s.
Furthermore, we discussed Nelson Mandela s Inaugural Speech in class, and how Mandela fought for
Independence from the white racist government. With extra research of the Freedom Summer project
launched by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our student committee is dedicated to achieving their goals using non violence. Even though, we face
serious violence, from the police and others in Mississippi my passion for the cause drove me to join.
What happened in the 1962 elections should never be repeated. Imagine, only 6.7% of eligible black
voters registered, the lowest in the whole country!
In orientation, we were taught (with a guest appearance of Robert Parris Moses, the director of the
project!) of opening Freedom Houses, Freedom Schools and community centers throughout
Mississippi. Here, African Americans realize their history and constitutional rights. Nevertheless the
most valuable thing we teach is black voting rights. Believe me, being dedicated to nonviolence in the
midst of violence is a passionate commitment.
Our goal is to help out in the freedom school in Mount Zion Methodist Church in Longdale. With a lot
of courage and inspiration, I couldn t wait. However, when I reached the church, I entered a
comprehensive state of shock; I couldn t believe my eyes. The freedom school was burned down. As a
devoted Christian, I couldn t believe that someone would burn down a church, the place of God! I

Jeffersonian Democracy
Two cities that are at war with each other are found in every city, according to Plato. He wrote this
statement in his piece the Republic. Plato points out that every city has conflicting ideologies of
government and in our debate, those ideologies are democratic versus undemocratic. Ever since the
creation of the United States Constitution, there has been conflict over our government. The
Constitution created a republic, where the government was based on consent of the governed, and
power was given to the representatives of the people. According to ideas from the seminar and
readings, human beings have a responsibility to educate themselves, the more democratic system has
served the country well, and the question of a constitutional convention has been left, in a way,
unanswered. Those in a community or society have a responsibility to be educated in order to be a part

The system in place is more democratic, but as spoken about throughout the seminar, the system
resembles more of a republic than a democracy. Citizens do elect officials to represent their beliefs
and values, but once in office these officials are allowed to choose whatever options they may.
Throughout the course of history, strides have been made to expand the democratic side to our
government. As discussed in the seminar, tradition and many acts have added to the democratic ideas
in the current government system. The Jeffersonian democracy and Jacksonian democracy were some
of the first periods of time when democratic ideas truly began to expand in the government of the
United States. Over the previous hundred years, the federal government s power has exploded (as
stated by Mr. Engels), yet our government still is considered to be democratic, even though power
relies more in the government versus the people. Our government system relies on its democratic
ideals, but it is not fully

Descriptive Essay About Going To The Beach
Have you ever been to the beach? I have been to the beach once, and honestly, I wasn t that impressed.
Before I went, I looked up pictures of the beach I was going to, and it had clear, bright blue water,
with perfect white sand. Plus, I was expecting to find lots of fine things, like seashells, sand dollars,
and sea glass. When I first receiver the beach, I stepped out of the car, having my hopes way too high.
The sand was white and fluffy at first, however, as you walked closer to the water, it became hard and
the color of mud. The water looked like lake water. Honestly, I felt like I was at the lake, other than I
couldn t see land on the other side looking out on the water. It grew better, too. The only thing close to
seashells was little mussels that we would dig into the sand. There wasn t any sand dollars, or
anything fantastic like that. Although I had some misconceptions, I still had a blast at the beach. I
mean, I could have been a little slap happy, as it was my first time there, yet I m pretty sure that I
would ve had a pleasant time anyways. I went with my dad, 3 of my aunts, and 9 of my cousins. We
went to the Port Aransas Beach in Texas. We pulled up in two vans, one being gray and one being
black, and we hauled out of them. We were all super excited. The kids rushed to see the water,
however, were instantly stopped by the adults. We grabbed the boogie boards, towels, and lathered up
with sunscreen. It seemed like forever before we could actually go out to

I Really Enjoyed This Podcast By Rogier Van Der Heide
I really enjoyed this podcast by Rogier van der Heide. I am forever wandering around my house
turning lights off and it s not just a money/planet saving action. Darkness is wonderful and important,
it is the reason I put dimmers on almost every light switch on the plans for our new home.
Without darkness, the concept of light doesn t exist or at best without the contrast of darkness, light is
not recognisable. The beauty of light could not be seen. Furthermore, the beauty and peace that comes
from darkness wouldn t be so if it weren t for the contrast of light. I have also just watched the TED
talk about introversion, identifying that the yings and the yangs are both required to have a complete
experience.
Heide speaks holistically of light quality. Light quality is not just about the bland, measurable
approach we take ensuring we meet the imposed standards required for lighting particular spaces. I am
left wondering why it is that we choose to power up a building with artificial light rather than use the
light from the sun where possible. There are so many ways in which we can do this, why are we so
reluctant? Is it easier to just thoughtlessly do what was once probably considered amazing and
innovative? The more I think about it the more I would consider grid like lighting design senseless,
unhealthy and unimaginative! Also, the sunlight is free, if that s not good enough reason to utilise it
then I don t know what is!
Furthermore, are we actually doing our eye

where individuals make judgements about themselves and others related to personal qualities. King
made people want to posses the same personal qualities. With a further analysis of Martin Luther King
Jr. s I have a dream speech , which was delivered in front of the Lincoln Memorial. In the second
paragraph King starts off with Five score years ago... referring to Lincoln s famous Gettysburg
Address which began Four score and seven years ago . King uses a technique called anaphora which is
the process of repeating words at the beginning of neighboring clauses. When repeating words it sets a
pattern, with further repetition it emphasizes the pattern even more which increases the rhetorical
effect. Emphasis through repetition makes phrases more memorable, and, by extension, make King s
story more memorable. Another thing King did was to repeat the key theme, King s most frequent
word he used was freedom which was said twenty times. This would make sense because freedom is
the primary theme of the speech. Through out King s speech he says we thirty times so the people

Lean On Me By Norman Twain
Lean On Me (Norman Twain Productions, 1989)
The movie Lean on Me was published in 1989. The movie depicts a time period when drug use/
abuse, and violence was very prevalent at Eastside High the inner city high schools in Paterson New
Jersey. Eastside HS having these challenges created a societal view of low expectations for the
students that attended the school. The students that attended the high school were predominately
African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups with
low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race, and
social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only
touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine
was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of families
that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and support
systems for youths. Many of the youths in the movie was raising themselves, which included finding
the means to support their and/ or their family s basic everyday needs such as: food, clothing, and
shelter. That alone opened the door to negative influences like drug dealing, drug use, drug abuse, and
violence. Many of the students at Eastside HS were more focus on everyday survival, then the
importance of having an education and the growth that it would bring them. The movie

Death like life is an inevitable occurrence in the human...
Death like life is an inevitable occurrence in the human experience and according to Sigmund Freud,
Although we know that after such a loss the acute state of mourning will subside, we also know we
shall remain inconsolable and will never find a substitute . Hence, the management of the effects of
death becomes necessary to the healing of the human spirit as one tries to cope with the extensive loss
and pain associated with losing a loved one. Freud further stated that this gap result in the only way of
perpetuating love which we do not want to let go of. This gap , according to Freud, has a great impact
on the psychological and spiritual well being of human beings and as such the study of Sudden Death

They breach the attachments of family, friendship, love, and community; shatter the construction of
the self that is formed and sustained in relation to others; undermine the belief systems that give
meaning to human experience; and violate the victim s faith in a natural or divine order and cast the
victim into a state of existential crisis (Herman, 1992, p.51).
Within this context, sudden deaths are more likely to involve domestic violence, accidents, mutilation,
stirring the worst imaginations in the bereaved. In some circumstances, the survivor cannot see the
body, thus adding to the problem of failing to accept the finality of the loss. Losing a loved one
suddenly in a tragic event is hard and hence there is no escaping one s sense of pain and loss if a
return to normal life is going to occur.
Following a sudden or violent death, other stressful and traumatic events may occur. These include the
sight of the injured or maimed body, the arrival of the police and/or medical personnel, efforts to assist
the injured, the grief reactions of other witnesses, and the survivor s separation from the love one
body. These secondary traumas are encoded as intrusive memories that interfere with the survivor s
ability to mourn, because the survivor cannot remember the parent without also remembering and

Research on the Legalization of Marijuana Essay examples
Research on the Legalization of Marijuana
Americans have been trying to legalize marijuana for years. It seems that all of their opinions divide
into three basic groups. Many think that it is not worth legalizing marijuana, many seem to think it
should be legalized, and a group of people say it should only be legalized for medicinal purposes.
In the following paragraphs I will try to show you reason for all three opinions.
My hopes of doing this research project were to specifically determine what effects marijuana in
combination with different substances had on the body. I also decided to determine the differences
between marijuana and tobacco, due to the high misconceptions about both of them in society today.
First of all, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marijuana usually does not contain more than 1 percent of THC. There are stronger drugs related to
THC, such as hash oil , which can contain up to a 28 percent THC level. There have been some cases
where street marijuana has been found to contain up to 5 percent THC content. That is very potent for
normal marijuana, and is probably very hard to come by in the United States. Other countries seem to
use different forms of THC related drugs such as hashish, and hemp. Both of these contain more THC
than marijuana. As far as long term effects of tobacco and marijuana go, they are about the same.
Cancer should appear in the lungs of a tobacco user earlier due to the amount the tobacco user smokes
in relation to a normal marijuana smoker. There have been many assumptions that marijuana will
cause long term brain damage and so on, but, clinically, none of this has ever been proven. In fact, in a
college survey, the students who use the drug regularly possessed a higher GPA than those who do not
use. This is an entire different subject, but it was interesting to learn.
Both tobacco and marijuana contain tar. Marijuana contains a little more and will actually feel heavier
on the lungs after smoking. Tar has been found to produce tumors on the skin of animals that it is

Tax Avoidance
There is a very clear distinction between tax avoidance and tax evasion from academic publications.
Tax books have defined tax avoidance as the lawful minimization of tax liability through sound
financial planning techniques, while tax evasion is the unlawful attempt to minimize tax liability
through fraudulent techniques to circumvent or frustrate tax laws . The consequences of either action
are also clear. The former is not punishable by law while the latter is. However, the lines between
evasion and avoidance have become blurred between the government and the general public.
In an academic publication, tax revenues are denoted as the lifeblood of the social contract, vital to the

On the other hand, Richard Murphy, anti poverty campaigner and tax expert , has stated that those
who argue that the matter is simple; avoidance is legal and evasion is illegal have forgotten how hard
it is to tell what is and is not legal . This is especially true because a lot of the tax avoidance schemes
these large entities are involved in are such complex matters that even HMR C struggle to unravel
them. It seems like the Corporations are able to get away with it because, in an interview with Liberal
Democrats Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable, he stated that Banks and other Corporations use the
finest legal brains money can buy to avoid tax, but HM Revenue Customs is underpaid and
overstretched, so it is far from a level playing field.
Much of the complex tax planning strategies involves an international dimension; a prime example is
the Arcadia group. According to the Guardian, the businessman banked a record £1.2bn dividend in
2005 which he paid directly to his wife. Richard Murphy, director of Tax Research UK, estimated
Green saved £285m by doing this. This raises the issue of non domiciled status and tax havens that
many of the wealthy use to avoid paying tax. Even though the government introduced a flat charge of
£30,000 to those who have been resident in the UK for more than 7 out of the last 9 years as of 6 April
2008 (Goodman Jones), UK Uncut argue that this does not equate to the billions in pounds that could

Constitution And The Federal System
A constitution is a legal document that states what a government is allowed to do and how the
government can do it. It also defines government structures proposing different bodies and agencies an
example being the three branches (legislature, executive, judiciary). The constitution is an important
document specifically to countries with federal systems. A federal system is one where the states get
their authority from the people instead of relying on national government. (Geer et al. 71).
Constitutions are specifically important to countries with federal systems because they prevent

Winged Victory Of Samothrace Analysis
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also referred to as the Nike of Samothrace, is a marble Hellenistic
sculpture of The Greek goddess of victory, Nike. Created in 190 BC by an unknown artist and
constructed with parian marble, it stands at 5.57 meters although the goddess herself stands only at
2.75 meters. The sculpture was discovered in 1863 on the island of Samothrace on a French
exploration led by amateur archaeologist Charles Champoiseau. In its original setting, the Nike was
mounted on the prow of a stone ship in a temple, and was assumed to be overlooking the sanctuary of
the great gods on the island of Samothrace. The sculpture has been displayed at the most distinguished
museum in the world, the Louvre, in Paris, since 1884. Even in its current condition, this sculpture
continues to inspire many across the globe with its vision of victory and triumph. ... Show more

This technique, used by Greek sculptors for the head and other parts of the statue began as early as the

decay, among these are missing body parts such as the capital and the right wing. The surface is worn

wings, and the drapery were carved separately before the work as a whole was eventually assembled.

The Epidemic Of Underage Drinking
Teenage Alcoholism
Underage drinking has become an immense problem in the U.S. There are many reasons that lead kids
under the age of twenty one to drink. CNN states that Only a sip early on in life could be a problem
later on in life (CNN News). This quote states that having that one drink as an underage drinker won t
just affect you then, but it will affect your life later on. Our country has come to realize that we have a

Drinking alcohol when you re a teen develops brain problems, your brain is developing until your in
your twenties. Alcohol affects the brain development which causes many problems (Underage
Drinking). Teenagers happen to be more vulnerable to becoming addicted to alcohol because of the
pleasure center in the brain. Drinking relaxes you and releases endorphins throughout the body
causing teens to easily get addicted. Drinking alcohol causes you to make poor decisions which results
in risky behavior. For example, Alcohol increases the risks for physical and sexual assault. Drinking
puts you more at a risk to be a victim of assault or even commit it. Alcohol doesn t just make the risks
for assault increase, it also ruins your life. Alcohol ruins relationships between people who care about
you. I have destroyed two relationships because I hurt them so much through my drinking, but I put
drinking first. My family are so hurt that their daughter s killing herself for apparently no reason (The
Truth about Alcohol). Jamie use to be a teenage alcoholic, she said that alcohol wasn t just ruining her

The Goal Of The Anger Principle
The goal of the Anger Principle is to rationalize why an individual is angry and calculate the extent of
their anger within a situation. When trying to decipher whether someone is angry, I look for a few key
indicators, such as antisocial body language and aggressive verbal language. Antisocial body language
includes pacing, rubbing your head, cupping your fist with your other hand, shaking or trembling,
clenching your jaws or grinding your teeth, and sweating, especially of the palms. Aggressive verbal
language includes getting sarcastic, losing your sense of humor, raising your voice, speaking
abrasively, and beginning to yell, scream, or cry. Many of these signs were present in my various
cases. Incidentally, case one is interesting because feelings of anger weren t associated with this
decision until 3 years later. Now, whenever I am reminded, I begin to clench my jaw and rub my head.
Also, I m not very likely to speak when I am angry, but when I do I am sarcastic and without a sense
of humor, i.e., I ll say I was such a smart kid, of course, skateboards can take you everywhere. If
anyone else attempts to make a joke about my situation, I d blankly stared at them, conveying my
anger by rejecting humor about the situation. As for case five, my friend is a big fan of the former vice
present, Joe Biden. So, when she told me about how she felt after receiving her grade, she reported
that she was sweating, shaking, and cupping her first with her other hand. Even as she

Information and Communication Technology (ICT), hence I opted to pursue Master of Information
Technology at the University of Auckland. Going through my first semester here, I acquired
knowledge not only about the technical aspects of Information technology but also the business side of
the industry. At the start of my masters I wondered how is this going to be any different than what I
studied in my undergraduate studies, and as I already had deep knowledge of the IT industry through
my professional experience, I wasn t too sure what new could the university teach me. With courses
like Big data and data mining I was introduced to data analysis field which was unprecedented for me,
Adaptive enterprise systems and advanced professional development enabled me to understand how to
become professional, how an industry is built, planning that takes place to start a company, what
factors are taken into account to predict the capital required and project future profits etc. I am glad I
was proven wrong, in this short time I have learned a great deal and by the end of my time here I m

Serbia s Decision to Fight in 1914 and the Role in Retribution War
Serbia joined World War I that started in July 1914 when Austria Hungary attacked the kingdom of
Serbia just at the onset of the world war one. The Serbia army was severely destroyed losing over
three hundred soldiers. At the time the war ended, Serbia lost over one million citizens both civilians
and the soldiers (Fromkin 12).
On 28 July 1914, just a few weeks after the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by a

Essay on The Role Of Nurse Glauce In The Faerie Queene
In Book Three of The Faerie Queene, the character of Glauce plays an important role in aiding
Britomart, the main character, to set off on her journey. Britomart, who represents Spenser s idea of
ideal Christian chastity, confronts some challenging and poignant issues before she heads off on her
adventure; namely, she sees a vision of her future husband in an enchanted looking glass, and does not
quite know how to handle the feelings of all encompassing love that arise in her. The terror, doubt and
confusion she experiences are similar to what is felt by any young girl embarking on the emotional

Quotes From Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
Day 1: My day started as any other day. We all got on the plane, on our way too a place, I forgot the
name. Then the next thing, the plane was in flames and we crashed on the island. I was climbing this
hill when I heard this sound, I took the choirboys with me and we found this boy with a shell and a
bunch of other boys crowded around him. We all introduced ourselves and three of us when off to find
food. I was with Ralph and Simon, this boy, Piggy, wanted to come but I told him no. We found a pig,
I was so close to killing it. I was choosing a place, said Jack. I was just waiting for a moment to decide
where to stick it. ( Golding 31.) I couldn t bring myself to kill that pig. The rest of the boys got mad, I

didn t eat a piece, I threw a piece at him. I started yelling at all boys because I gave them food and
they didn t eat. After I calmed down a bit, the hunting group started to reenact the killing of our pig. I
slept good, my stomach was full. I was satisfied. Jack Day 86: After what feels like years, but actually

can do it. Ralph doesn t want me to be chief, he thinks that is a bad idea because I m too reckless and,
I want to get off this island as well as Ralph. He wants to be civilized and make shelters just in case
we don t get off this island. He wants me to help, do I help, no way am I going to do work. Simon can

The Major Roles Of A Primary Teacher
What are the major roles of a Primary Teacher?
Defining the roles and duties of a Primary Teacher can be quite difficult. Gipps et al. (2000) define
teaching as: a diverse, complex activity with no clear rules except that the teacher should teach and the
children should learn. (Gipps et al. 2000 p.4).
The roles of a primary teacher may be decided by what we believe is effective teaching. The idea of
how children should be taught and how children learn has changed over time. Gipps (1992) examines
how contributions from theorists change the way we look at children s development and learning. She
proposes that there are two main types of models of learning, constructivist and transmission and goes
on to suggest that the roles a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this perspective, Carroll suggests the role of the teacher is not to hand down information but to
support children s learning and help them reach higher attainment levels than they would if they were
working alone. Teachers must facilitate discussions to allow pupils to share and co construct meanings
as well as organise problem solving activities. Carroll s writing further cements the point earlier
mention by Gipps (1992), suggesting the roles a teacher takes in the classroom depends on the theory
they follow. This can be seen as the roles a teacher performs when following either perspective are
very different.
Having good and substantial knowledge of relevant subjects is often stated in current literature and
documentation as a necessary factor for good and effective primary teaching. It is included in the
Department of Education (2011 p.11) Teachers Standards, where it is stated that teachers should have
secure subject and curriculum knowledge, and be able to inspire pupils into developing their own
learning and knowledge. A report from Ofsted (2009) looking into the connection between high
quality teaching and subject knowledge in primary education, showed that where lessons were deemed
satisfactory, the teachers weakness in their subject knowledge had negative effects on their pupils
achievement. Writing for the Times Educational Supplement, Morrison (2014) suggests that subject
knowledge is the most important factor for successful teaching in

Analysis Of The Book Horrible Things
The children s book Terrible Things is an allegory of the Holocaust as written by Eve
Bunting. It involves a community of animals who are taken away group by group by the
Terrible Things. The genre of the children s book Terrible Things is fantasy as characterised by the
fictional events and talking animals. The purpose of this story was to entertain young children, but has
a secondary purpose of informing readers of a hidden message pertaining to the events of the
Holocaust which targets small children and adults.
The author uses various elements of literature and language to support her purpose an dto make this
story a portrayal of its genre. Characters that the author uses forest animals such as white rabbits,
birds, frogs, fish, squirrels and porcupines. Having personified animals is a trait of many fantasy
stories. It also has a clear protagonist and antagonist, the protagonist being Little Rabbit and the
antagonist being the Terrible Things. Also, the author s diction and syntax are simple and the names
that she chooses for the characters are very childlike, for example the Terrible Things. She uses
imagery to add dimension to a simple story like when she uses shimmering fish and the cool brown
waters of the forest pond. Little Rabbit. The author uses this to develop the setting and also appeal to
the reader s emotion of happiness and serenity which makes the plot more dramatic. The sentences are
short and without too many details The story is

effective whenever she expresses concern for Travis. Lena Younger expresses this concern when
Walter proposes his idea to open a liquor store to help his family, by first investing with the money
that comes from the insurance check. Lena immediately discredits the idea, using arguments saying
that Walter s priority isn t family. One can recall that Lena s late husband was described as a hard
worker, with family at the center of everything he did. Not only that, but Lena, being older and living
differently than she is now, has grown up with different sets of hardships and therefore values. Both
contribute to her ideals revolving around being there for family, of which don t include a get rich
quick scheme. This is seen when Lena reveals that she put a down payment for a house, and giving her
reasoning behind it. Lena wants to get a newer house, that allows them to live comfortably, and the
amenities that contribute to this are a bedroom for Travis and a garden for herself. The garden refers
back to the little plant Lena has in the kitchen. Like her plant, it is small and worn, but is
representative of the hope within her. The plant would then transform into a garden, demonstrating
that Lena has bounties of hope and is flourishing with the opportunity to grow her security for her
family and herself. Another important thing to note is that Lena never imposes her children with ideas
about the world. Although at times she tries to wane them off certain ideas, these ideas pertaining to
her hardships and religious beliefs, she generally is very accepting of what her children do. She lets
them have their own dreams and goals, seen when she tells Walter what she wants him to do with the

Cody Metzker-Madsen s Crime
It was nightfall when two boys were playing just outside of their home. After a few moments, playing
abruptly directed to the aggressive death. When questioned about the incident, the suspect claimed he

On August 31, 2013, in Logan, Iowa, five year old Dominic Elkins lost his life due to his seventeen

Prior to the crime, Cody Metzker Madsen lived a repulsive childhood. It began the first three months

after reviewing all the evidence, Judge Kathleen Kilnoski was hesitant if Cody Metzker Madsen was

Throughout the beginning of the investigation, Cody Metzker Madsen claimed to know nothing about
it, and yet there was proof of his involvement. The clothing Metzker Madsen wore that night with
splattered blood stains was brought into the court. This clothing proved he was near Elkins during the
time of his death. Prosecutors then used the lies of the murderer when being questioned to prove there
was nothing wrong with his mentality on August 31. They stated Metzker Madsen had to be in the
right state of mind if he understood lying would get him out of the consequences (Rodgers par.

Food Waste Of The Global Food Chain
Different definitions of food waste with respect to the complexities of food supply chains are
discussed. Background information on how food is wasted is provided. Food waste in the global food
chain is reviewed in relation to the prospects for feeding a population of nine billion by 2050. A
significant gap exists in the understanding of the food waste implications in the economy of the
developing countries. For affluent economies, post consumer food waste accounts for the greatest
overall losses. To supplement the fragmentary picture and to gain a forward view, scholarly sources
were consulted, data recorded and analyzed. The analysis highlighted the scale of the problem, the
scope for improved system efficiencies and the challenges of affecting behavioral change to reduce
food waste. More to that, long term and short term effects of wasting food was listed and described.
A discussion of the comparative amounts of food being wasted, why it is wasted and who wastes it
most will take place. The strategies put in place by different countries to eliminate food waste will
illustrate that this food could be better used to alleviate starvation and reduce environmental waste.
Many countries are filled with individuals fighting starvation. On the other hand, there are many
people in the world who throw away perfectly fine foods just because they are full or they don t want
it anymore. The residents of this world need to start thinking twice about the food they waste. When

Not much of an adventure, right? But the act of cutting my hair signified more than just a style
change. To me it was an acceptance of who I am and a statement of my individuality to the world.
Cady Stanton s The Solitude of Self was important to me because it advocated the importance for
women to express their individuality. Though she advocates the value of education in order to discover
this personal uniqueness, I still felt that her message related to why I cut my hair. In the introduction to
Stanton s The Solitude of Self the question is asked, Why... would Stanton emphasize that all
individuals stand alone? (Zoller 114). I feel that this question is answered by Stanton with her
statement that, No one has ever found two blades of ribbon grass alike, and no one will ever find two
human beings alike (Stanton 117). She is saying that it is impossible for all humans to act and think
the same way which is why it is important to embrace our individual selves rather than conform to
society s ideas on how a person should look or act. This reflects my adventure because with my long
hair I felt that my individuality was being repressed; as Stanton stated, no two people are alike, and I
felt that keeping my hair long was just some outdated expression of how a woman should look and
act. My mother thought that the me cutting my hair was an act of rebellion, but it was not. It was just a
physical expression of my individuality or, as Stanton might say, my personal

Improving Affordability Through Curbing Cost Increases
institutions rarely think of approaches toward this goal. According to the report published by Lumina
Foundation, Putting Colleges on Notice: Crafting Smarter Strategies to Improve Affordability through
Curbing Cost Increases, college leaders are either failing to pay attention, failing to prioritize, or
failing to act on the affordability issue (Fryar and Carlson, 2014, p.3). Current efforts to improve
affordability are halted by the insufficient attention and the lack of knowledge, evidence, and

Institutional leaders, as the entrepreneur for organization culture and value, their perception of the

As discussed by Fryar (2014), if leaders perceive efforts to improve affordability as threats to the
quality of their institution, efforts toward promoting affordability will be halted. Furthermore,
prioritizing quality let college leaders seek for more stable and dependable financial sources. Tuition
and fees, as one of the controllable and dependable source, will be the first choice for institution to
maintain quality and avoid risk (Fryar, 2014). The dominant ideology that links price with quality in
higher education institutions, or in other words, quality is maintained on the base of accumulation of
tangible resources and the higher the price is, the better the education will be, is the root problem for
the ineffective institutional affordability movements.

Introduction
Yeast is a ingredient commonly used in baking to get bread to rise. It is a eukaryotic single celled

energy is known as cellular respiration which is a chemical reaction. The problem we will be testing
today is does affecting the amount of yeast mixed with sugar and warmed water affect how much gas

ingredients to create a seal so we can measure how much gas is being produced by measuring the
circumference of the ballon. The independent variable will be the yeast while the sugar and

  • 2. Two Women in Proverbs 9 Essay Two Women in Proverbs 9 Proverbs has always been one of the most renowned and loved books of the Bible. According to the prologue, it was written to teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and prudence to the young (1.4), and to let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquire skill (1.5). It is primarily addressed to young men, as the author makes frequent references to my son throughout. The purpose of this book was to help prepare young men for leadership and life. A proverb, which serves the purpose of drawing a comparison between two forms of behavior to teach moral wisdom, explicitly fulfills its role in particularly chapter 9 of Proverbs. In light of this father to son instruction, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reward of the assiduous will far exceed that of the indolent in the long run. Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly not only own their own homes, but they are situated at the highest places in the town (9.3, 9.14). Because both women dwell at the promontories of their respective cities, they are able to look out and gain a perspective that is much broader than those who are standing on level ground. They have the advantage of being able to observe other people and what they are doing. By being able to observe others every move, their neighbors are at their most vulnerable state without even being aware of it themselves. Lady Folly uses her advantageous location to remember the weaknesses of others that she catches and files them in her memory storage for later use. While Lady Folly uses young men s weaknesses by using them against them solely for her own gain, Lady Wisdom selflessly uses her high promontory for the benefit of others. She uses the information she learns, to teach others their mistakes and to help them in any way she can. The speaker is portraying the importance of leadership that instead of being consumed with their own selves, the young men must also be able to pinpoint others strengths and weaknesses to help them, not to use against them. The next similarity that these women share is that they both call out to people, inviting them over to their respective houses. Lady Folly calls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interpersonal Communication And The Workplace Interpersonal communication in the workplace is developed positively or negatively on the individual relationships we have combined with our human behaviors and human actions within each of those relationships. There are many things that can affect interpersonal communications within the workplace, from generational that create technological gaps, to diversity and tolerance it creates, and finally the type of workplace, is it a team environment encouraging inclusiveness within the organization or exclusive workplace wanting employees to just show up and perform a function. • 6. Imagery In Beowulf The Old English epic poem of Beowulf, officially written down somewhere around the year 1066 by the Beowulf poet, is one where you are persistently kept of the edge of your seat due to its superior use of vivid phrases and imagery. In the Anglo Saxon period in which the story takes place bravery, heroic deeds, and loyalty to one another is paramount. Beowulf, a tenacious scandinavian warrior, is the savior of a neighboring kingdom due to his aptness to slay the treacherous monsters such as the nefarious Grendel and his mother. A truly remarkable feat is how the words and actions of this poem are put to life in the movie. Though remarkable, the cinema didn t exactly correlate with the poem. At the feast, a Dane named Unferth, envious of his kinsmen s admiration of Beowulf, begins to taunt the Geat. He claims that Beowulf once lost a swimming match against Breca and that Beowulf will meet with defeat for a second time when he faces Grendel in the mead hall. • 7. How War Has Changed Society War has been around for as long as mankind has existed. War has been around since the beginning for two reasons; because people either wanted to have a better life or to protect their way of life. People go to war to gain land, economic gain, government affiliations, and religion. Over the time that mankind has been around, warfare has changed significantly. There is not much known about prehistoric and warfare. What is known is that war did not happen very often. Small hunting and gathering groups that weathered the last ice age had cause on occasion to attack each other. Such attacks were probably for control of food sources, important raw materials water, trade routes, or perhaps locations of presumed religious significance. Prehistoric hunters equipped themselves with weapons to make their living. It was an easy step to turn those weapons on neighbors. The earliest known burial site that was related to warfare was along the Nile in Nubia. The skeletons have wounds on their bones that are consistent with warding off blows. There were also pieces of what is thought to be small flakes of arrowheads buried along with the bodies. This is significant because war is not a modern thing, it has been around since the beginning of our species. There is a little bit more known about neolithic warfare. During this time there was increased economic incentives for war. Competition and incentive for armed conflict between groups grew once the agricultural revolution began. The food ... • 8. Naturalism In Cythera On looking closely at her sculpture it is seen that cupid s arrows are tied to her along with a garland of flowers. These are clear connotations of love. Cupid can be seen sitting below the sculpture with his quiver down almost as though nothing has to be done to bring love in that area. He is seen tugging the skirt of the lady sitting near him, as though he is urging her to fall in love with the man on her right, who seems to be trying too. On following the coupled figures down towards the boat, is a conspiracy whether the boat bought the figures to Cythera or is taking them to the island of Cythera. On closely observing the body language of the figures, it is noticed how they get closer and closer towards a state of intimacy. As observed towards the boat a couple is seen where the women is holding the man s arm of her own volition, she doesn t have to be coaxed anymore. I am forever wandering around my house turning lights off and it s not just a money/planet saving action. Darkness is wonderful and important, it is the reason I put dimmers on almost every light switch on the plans for our new home. Without darkness, the concept of light doesn t exist or at best without the contrast of darkness, light is not recognisable. The beauty of light could not be seen. Furthermore, the beauty and peace that comes from darkness wouldn t be so if it weren t for the contrast of light. I have also just watched the TED talk about introversion, identifying that the yings and the yangs are both required to have a complete experience. Heide speaks holistically of light quality. Light quality is not just about the bland, measurable approach we take ensuring we meet the imposed standards required for lighting particular spaces. I am left wondering why it is that we choose to power up a building with artificial light rather than use the light from the sun where possible. There are so many ways in which we can do this, why are we so reluctant? Is it easier to just thoughtlessly do what was once probably considered amazing and innovative? The more I think about it the more I would consider grid like lighting design senseless, unhealthy and unimaginative! Also, the sunlight is free, if that s not good enough reason to utilise it then I don t know what is! Furthermore, are we actually doing our eye ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The students that attended the high school were predominately African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups with low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race, and social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of families that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and support systems for youths. Essay on The Role Of Nurse Glauce In The Faerie Queene In Book Three of The Faerie Queene, the character of Glauce plays an important role in aiding Britomart, the main character, to set off on her journey. Britomart, who represents Spenser s idea of ideal Christian chastity, confronts some challenging and poignant issues before she heads off on her adventure; namely, she sees a vision of her future husband in an enchanted looking glass, and does not quite know how to handle the feelings of all encompassing love that arise in her. The terror, doubt and confusion she experiences are similar to what is felt by any young girl embarking on the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence, but with the added factor of the spectral figure she sees in the mirror. In Cantos Two and Three of Book Three, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Glauce attempts to comfort Britomart in her despair, and is seemingly the only person to whom Britomart can turn. She is affectionate to Britomart, and refers to Britomart as her ‘deare daughter (Spenser 3.2.267). Like a mother, Glauce worries about the cause of Britomart s depression and, while knowing with an apparent mother s instinct that the cause must be a man, she thinks the circumstances behind it to be much worse than they actually turn out to be. Glauce is relieved when she finds out the true origin of Britomart s despondency, saying, of much more uncouth thing I was affrayd; / of filthy lust, contrarie unto kind: / but this affection nothing straunge I find (Spenser 3.2.354 56), and then proceeds to give a long list of all the worse case scenarios she had envisioned for Britomart s torment. She finishes her speech by vowing to help Britomart find Artegall (Spenser 3.2.406 14), thereby providing the utmost of support to the young girl. Glauce s words do give hope and encouragement to Britomart, if only temporarily, and she is finally able to sleep after several days of insomnia. The scene in which Glauce reaches out to Britomart in her despair and tries to find its cause is reminiscent of a young girl s coming of age into womanhood. • 30. Quotes From Lord Of The Flies By William Golding Day 1: My day started as any other day. We all got on the plane, on our way too a place, I forgot the name. Then the next thing, the plane was in flames and we crashed on the island. I was climbing this hill when I heard this sound, I took the choirboys with me and we found this boy with a shell and a bunch of other boys crowded around him. We all introduced ourselves and three of us when off to find food. I was with Ralph and Simon, this boy, Piggy, wanted to come but I told him no. We found a pig, I was so close to killing it. I was choosing a place, said Jack. I was just waiting for a moment to decide where to stick it. ( Golding 31.) I couldn t bring myself to kill that pig. When we got to the fire on the hilltop, guess who was there, that Ralph. He got so mad then we let the fire go out. We just went to find a pig to eat. Simon didn t eat a piece, I threw a piece at him. I started yelling at all boys because I gave them food and they didn t eat. After I calmed down a bit, the hunting group started to reenact the killing of our pig. I slept good, my stomach was full. I was satisfied. Jack Day 86: After what feels like years, but actually months. Things have taken a turn for the worst, the boys want me to be the leader, but i m not sure if I can do it. Ralph doesn t want me to be chief, he thinks that is a bad idea because I m too reckless and, I want to get off this island as well as Ralph. He wants to be civilized and make shelters just in case we don t get off this island. He wants me to help, do I help, no way am I going to do work. Simon can help him, I really don t care. • 31. The Major Roles Of A Primary Teacher What are the major roles of a Primary Teacher? Defining the roles and duties of a Primary Teacher can be quite difficult. Gipps et al. (2000) define teaching as: a diverse, complex activity with no clear rules except that the teacher should teach and the children should learn. (Gipps et al. 2000 p.4). The roles of a primary teacher may be decided by what we believe is effective teaching. The idea of how children should be taught and how children learn has changed over time. Gipps (1992) examines how contributions from theorists change the way we look at children s development and learning. She proposes that there are two main types of models of learning, constructivist and transmission and goes on to suggest that the roles a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this perspective, Carroll suggests the role of the teacher is not to hand down information but to support children s learning and help them reach higher attainment levels than they would if they were working alone. Teachers must facilitate discussions to allow pupils to share and co construct meanings as well as organise problem solving activities. Carroll s writing further cements the point earlier mention by Gipps (1992), suggesting the roles a teacher takes in the classroom depends on the theory they follow. This can be seen as the roles a teacher performs when following either perspective are very different. Having good and substantial knowledge of relevant subjects is often stated in current literature and documentation as a necessary factor for good and effective primary teaching. It is included in the Department of Education (2011 p.11) Teachers Standards, where it is stated that teachers should have secure subject and curriculum knowledge, and be able to inspire pupils into developing their own learning and knowledge. A report from Ofsted (2009) looking into the connection between high quality teaching and subject knowledge in primary education, showed that where lessons were deemed satisfactory, the teachers weakness in their subject knowledge had negative effects on their pupils achievement. Writing for the Times Educational Supplement, Morrison (2014) suggests that subject knowledge is the most important factor for successful teaching in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

African American Values Each individual has there own set of ideals and values that motivate them towards specific and non specific goals, and luckily for everyone, the goals themselves can be molded to these values. Values can be influenced by a plethora of factors, from environment to predispositions, and can range from relationships to materialism. Values and goals may represent a person, or a person may represent the values and demonstrate the context that formed these values. As seen throughout the play, Mama expresses concern for the well being of her family, and is most effective whenever she expresses concern for Travis. Lena Younger expresses this concern when Walter proposes his idea to open a liquor store to help his family, by first investing with the money that comes from the insurance check. Lena immediately discredits the idea, using arguments saying that Walter s priority isn t family. One can recall that Lena s late husband was described as a hard worker, with family at the center of everything he did. Not only that, but Lena, being older and living differently than she is now, has grown up with different sets of hardships and therefore values. Both contribute to her ideals revolving around being there for family, of which don t include a get rich quick scheme. This is seen when Lena reveals that she put a down payment for a house, and giving her reasoning behind it. Lena wants to get a newer house, that allows them to live comfortably, and the amenities that contribute to this are a bedroom for Travis and a garden for herself. The garden refers back to the little plant Lena has in the kitchen. Like her plant, it is small and worn, but is representative of the hope within her. The plant would then transform into a garden, demonstrating that Lena has bounties of hope and is flourishing with the opportunity to grow her security for her family and herself. Another important thing to note is that Lena never imposes her children with ideas about the world. Although at times she tries to wane them off certain ideas, these ideas pertaining to her hardships and religious beliefs, she generally is very accepting of what her children do. She lets them have their own dreams and goals, seen when she tells Walter what she wants him to do with the check, which shows the importance of family to her in another ... • 35. Food Waste Of The Global Food Chain Different definitions of food waste with respect to the complexities of food supply chains are discussed. Background information on how food is wasted is provided. Food waste in the global food chain is reviewed in relation to the prospects for feeding a population of nine billion by 2050. A significant gap exists in the understanding of the food waste implications in the economy of the developing countries. For affluent economies, post consumer food waste accounts for the greatest overall losses. To supplement the fragmentary picture and to gain a forward view, scholarly sources were consulted, data recorded and analyzed. The analysis highlighted the scale of the problem, the scope for improved system efficiencies and the challenges of affecting behavioral change to reduce food waste. More to that, long term and short term effects of wasting food was listed and described. A discussion of the comparative amounts of food being wasted, why it is wasted and who wastes it most will take place. The strategies put in place by different countries to eliminate food waste will illustrate that this food could be better used to alleviate starvation and reduce environmental waste. Many countries are filled with individuals fighting starvation. On the other hand, there are many people in the world who throw away perfectly fine foods just because they are full or they don t want it anymore. The residents of this world need to start thinking twice about the food they waste. When people go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leveling out at just under twenty thousand citizens, it is a mostly homogeneous population of white, Christian families. The kids I went to school with often referred to Point as The Bubble, meaning that nobody leaves our town; and the nickname holds true. My hometown is filled with families that have lived there for generations, families that everybody knows, because nobody leaves town. My family in particular is a prominent one in Point. To me it was an acceptance of who I am and a statement of my individuality to the world. Cady Stanton s The Solitude of Self was important to me because it advocated the importance for women to express their individuality. Though she advocates the value of education in order to discover this personal uniqueness, I still felt that her message related to why I cut my hair. In the introduction to Stanton s The Solitude of Self the question is asked, Why... would Stanton emphasize that all individuals stand alone? (Zoller 114). I feel that this question is answered by Stanton with her statement that, No one has ever found two blades of ribbon grass alike, and no one will ever find two human beings alike (Stanton 117). She is saying that it is impossible for all humans to act and think the same way which is why it is important to embrace our individual selves rather than conform to society s ideas on how a person should look or act. This reflects my adventure because with my long hair I felt that my individuality was being repressed; as Stanton stated, no two people are alike, and I felt that keeping my hair long was just some outdated expression of how a woman should look and act. My mother thought that the me cutting my hair was an act of rebellion, but it was not. It was just a physical expression of my individuality or, as Stanton might say, my personal ... According to the report published by Lumina Foundation, Putting Colleges on Notice: Crafting Smarter Strategies to Improve Affordability through Curbing Cost Increases, college leaders are either failing to pay attention, failing to prioritize, or failing to act on the affordability issue (Fryar and Carlson, 2014, p.3). Current efforts to improve affordability are halted by the insufficient attention and the lack of knowledge, evidence, and thoughtful strategy regarding the role of institutional leaders (p.3). Institutional leaders, as the entrepreneur for organization culture and value, their perception of the conflict between cost and quality, and the quality first mindset will shape the organization culture and influence institution s efforts toward affordability. As discussed by Fryar (2014), if leaders perceive efforts to improve affordability as threats to the quality of their institution, efforts toward promoting affordability will be halted. Furthermore, prioritizing quality let college leaders seek for more stable and dependable financial sources. Tuition and fees, as one of the controllable and dependable source, will be the first choice for institution to maintain quality and avoid risk (Fryar, 2014). The dominant ideology that links price with quality in higher education institutions, or in other words, quality is maintained on the base of accumulation of tangible resources and the higher the price is, the better the education will be, is the root problem for the ineffective institutional affordability movements.
